    My compressor went out and was going bad. And I put a claim in on Choice Home Warranty. They did not get back to me. I called. And they said they were looking for someone. I finally had to use somebody else. I called Choice. They gave me back half my money, but that was not the point. They should have helped to pay for my air conditioner.

    My girlfriend that I recommended to Choice, her air conditioner went out. She didn't get anybody to her house for almost two weeks, and they kept putting her off. So, that was not well. Their air conditioning support does not work. I have a new air conditioner that I had to pay for and maybe the little fixes around the house. But I don't recommend them for air conditioning. Recently, I filed a claim and I did it online. I had to have a plumber come out because my seal had gone off of my toilet. The guy came out, fixed it. And it was easy as pie. The tech was very nice. He just came here to do his job, and left.

    Choice touts "fix it or we give you a new one". BEWARE!!! Our freezer died and within an hour of the technician's 1st visit.. We got an email saying that our freezer was going to be replaced. They offered me Lowe's gift cards, so that we could pick the replacement unit that we wanted. They later agreed to send us a check; that was fine. The issue was that their settlement offer was only 50% (sale price) of a "similar capacity, similar features unit." The offer was not even enough to purchase a unit that was 13 cubic feet capacity vs. the 20 cubic feet capacity of our former unit. After talking with two different case managers, Choice refused to up their original offer, claiming that they only reimburse for their cost. This experience was a "wake-up call" for us. We have been a Choice customer for 4 years and are very dissatisfied in how we were treated.

    I have been fighting with Choice since April over the status of my microwave. Finally in July I gave up due to us travelling so much for our work. They closed the case. It was reopened, a tech came out on 9/1. Looked at it and stated it needed to be replaced. The tech was great. It's Choice I have a problem with. The microwave is an older model and the plastic cracked around the glass and the glass fell out. I taped it back in and have been using it but the tape is getting old also. Choice denied the claim because it wasn't normal wear and tear. I'm appealing. I have paid my monthly pmts for over a year plus $85 to the tech. I will not be having Choice as my warrant company after this.

    To get a repair they come out look at it then have to ask permission to Choice to get it fixed that takes a few days then IF it is approved wait for the parts and then reschedule the technician. That can take weeks before your appliance is fixed. Need to do a complete check on the company Choice is sending out most are subpar and don't really know what they are doing with your appliance. Make sure they are certified with your type of appliance.

    The wife was doing a load and started smelling something was burning. I tried to figure out what I would do. And I realized I got a home warranty system now. So, I called Choice Home Warranty and submitted a claim. They had a guy out within three days. He looked at it. At the same time, I submitted one for the dryer. They opted to replace the washer and repair the dryer. It went through quickly.

    One company handled both the repair of the dryer and in the decision process to replace the washer. The service tech that came out was very knowledgeable. I was impressed. He had the drum out. He had the front of it off. He said, "This won't be too bad to fix. I know what it's gonna take to fix it." He had it all put back together so that visually, you couldn't tell it was not a functioning unit. It looked just like every day. He had the part in less than a week. He came back out and had the unit again, all apart, new part installed, put back together, running ready to go. He had that done in under two hours. I'm impressed with the companies that Choice Home Warranty chose in this situation.

    I questioned the original amount. The rep explained to me that a long time ago, they would buy the replacement unit and ship it to the homeowner. They had numerous complaints over that. So what they've done now is they don't go with replacement cost. They go with, "What could we buy it for at the wholesale value? And that is the price that we will give the homeowner." I said, "Are you for real? So you guys could buy a new washer, washing machine for $280, yet, Joe homeowner, he ain't gonna find one for less than 550. What's he supposed to do?" And she said, "I'm sorry. But that's been our policy for the last X number of years." "But what you have quoted us is not life value for what we have.” So, she increased our payout by 35%. She asked, "Can you tell me what your manufacture is?" Within 30 seconds, she approved us to get more money to replace our unit.

    A lot of homeowners, when a piece of equipment dies, they look at it as an opportunity to upgrade and to get newer and more bells and whistles. That is another reason why they don't buy a new unit and send it to us because the homeowners would be, "Give us the money, and we'll pitch in some of our own money and get a newer, bigger, better thing." That's what they did. And it went smooth. I am happy with it.

    CHW is only for non-emergency appliance failure as they really take long time to find any in-network technicians. For most of the emergency issues, they give a reimbursement options where you go and find a tech who is willing to give all the paper works (they have stringent conditions to approve your reimbursement) for you to file reimbursement. Anyone who has filed insurance reimbursement knows the ordeal. For me it's better to pay 100 dollar more directly to any tech who is willing to come immediately than to wait for weeks to get the work done via in-network (especially for high value repair work) tech. I absolutely hate doing reimbursement paperwork (which is usually denied in my exp) in the midst of rising temp. Many out-of-network tech do work with home warranty but they charge extra for filing paper works and in the end it seems that you don't save any money at all going through insurance but also get a lot of heartburn.

    Worst customer service. They won’t talk to you on the phone on how to resolve any problem. They direct you to email or app and then it is a totally generic automated response. I put claim in about plumbing issue- it was roots in line so had to pay myself. Put another claim about dishwasher- took so long and they sent a message saying I could get my own tech and they reimburse. I did that before reading every word and long story short, I never got reimbursed. I did try to communicate with them about the process and how to do it but could never get a person or great information. Then it took so long they said it was past the allowable time. Another current air conditioning claim- I refuse to call my own tech d/t my last experience.

    I am still sitting here and it’s been well over a month. I’m guessing they won’t cover this when someone does come out. Even techs I talk to don’t like this company. I am not a person that reads every word of contracts, but I finally did on this. Basically there are clauses that can get them out of anything. I’m beyond upset. Tried to do a Google review and couldn’t even find a way to do that.

    The technician was terrific. Polite, competent. Knew his stuff, fixed the problem quickly. It only gets 3 stars because I had to wait 4 days for a serviceman to come, in 98 degree temperature. Also, until that day, they gave me a window of 8 - 5 which meant I had to cancel a full day of work and coordinating with my HOA to get access to the cooling units was also very difficult, and there was no phone # to reach the company. The agent at Choice was helpful but couldn’t do anything to expedite.

    I’ve had CHW for about 8 years now. And to be completely honest. They are just OK as long as you don’t need anything serious to claim (IE- AC/HEATING UNIT go out). I’ve had some small things like Garbage Disposal go out, Water Heater Circuit Board Burned Out and they have had someone out within a couple of hours. I signed a 6 years contract (1 year free) with them back 2019 for 1800.00. But God forbid your AC Unit goes out (like mine did on 8/27/23 and it take 1 /3 days to get someone to pick up my claim and I have to sit in a 87 degree out and burn up and for CHW to not be in any hurry).     Due to lack of follow up on my part it took a year to get action on my claim for my inoperative freezer.     Owner of several properties had two bad experiences with CHOICE HOME WARRANTY. Company has a very well train people to discuss and disapprove any of the open claims reading the small letters and not considering customer seniority (since 2018 and warranty until 2025). Claim #1: Replacement of a A/C unit. By blackmailing I paid @1,000.00 to CHOICE and @900.00 to the technician in order to approve the replacement. CHOICE deny to send me the receipt for accounting purpose. Claim #2: CHOICE did not approve one capacitor ($25) and one connector ($35) due to wear and tear because the A/C was not inoperative.

    Choice Warranty Jacks you around with several technicians a lot that don’t show up so you waste your whole day waiting. And they do not live up to their promise if we can’t fix it we will replace it. We have been waiting 6 months with no hot water have had over 5 technicians, multiple appointments, and no shows. Wasted endless hours on the phone only to be told they need a second opinion, when they have has over 5 opinions that told them to replace the unit. Even the manufacturer has said the same thing. They will not replace only keep bringing in new technicians. It took 6 months as well to replace our sub pump. Our basement was flooded several times because they refused to fix it.     I called for service on the air conditioner, and one week later I had not heard a word from this company.     The tech that was sent to our home was professional, knowledgeable, and completed the assigned task. He was thorough as well. One small issue was he spoke no English so communication was done through a translator app on the phone. Again, not a huge issue but the language gap was not a great experience. I still currently have this case open because they took my upgraded touchscreen, Wi-Fi enabled, and programmable thermostat and gave me a cheap $50 replacement. That’s not how this is supposed to go. I’ve reached out to Choice Home Warranty support and they say I need to take it up with the AC Repair service. Again, not a great experience. I understand if that’s all the tech had available, but this needs to be rectified. We’ll see how it all goes by this coming week. I am Not currently satisfied with this process as of yet.

    Place a work order online. Stating that my kitchen lights and bathroom exhaust fan were inoperable. Technician arrived and proceeded to work on exhaust fan and then the kitchen lights. Advising me that he needed to get approval after diagnosis the problems. Then I was told he wanted to leave to do other jobs while waiting for approval. Hours later he returned only to tell me that he can only work on kitchen lights. Replacing old parts back into bathroom fixture and telling me he needs another work order to proceed. So unable to call customer service, I placed a work order online. He would not accept that I told me to call it in. Now I still have no bathroom exhaust fan and no one has called to figure out when I will get service again. Very frustrating and now I am in the process of finding a new warranty company.     I called on 8/23 to have my kitchen drain serviced. They sent E-Drains, Inc. to my house that evening. The first day of my clogged drain was 8/23, the same day I called. They snaked my drain and the tech said it needs to be jetted and he told me this should be covered. The lady in their office said 9 out of 10 times the home warranty company will approve this. The morning of 8/25 I received an email from Choice HW saying my claim was denied. See section A-2 which I read. All systems become inoperative due to normal wear and tear?     Very disappointing that CHW refuses to address fan motor in AC unit. Unit was leaking water and I called CHW. Tech came out and stated that Fan Motor was bad and that he had one in truck.     I was not very pleased with the warranty company as I was denied for two straight claims. I was told I couldn't make a claim in the first 30 days as it would be a preexisting. The second was denied for the same reason of being a preexisting problem but it was after the 30 day wait period. When I called in I was told that they didn't cover the items because these existed before I took out the warranty. I explained that when I purchased the warranty I was told that the reason to have the warranty was for unseen issues that may come up. Nothing was said about a 30 day wait period and definitely not about preexisting things.

    As a matter of fact it was indicated that the whole reason for the warranty was to cover just that type problem. When I called to cancel the operator was very coarse and when I kept asking to cancel she continued to try and talk me out of it. I finally said that if all they covered was new items I already have a warranty for then why pay them and I want it cancelled now. I have no other information on the company but this was how I was treated.
