    I have been without a working alarm system for about a month. The cameras are offline with the driveway camera constantly going out before all cameras were disconnected due to troubleshooting. My smart lock constantly malfunctions, reading that the lock is jamming. This happens almost daily. Then, I was forced to go on vacation without home security because the technician, Tanner, never showed up as scheduled. I have called customer service over ten times and while the problems are not the fault of the agents, they are not given very many tools to help consumers. Today, all that was able to be done is schedule another appointment that would put me at two months without a functioning security system. Of course, there is no guarantee that anyone will even show up.

    I enjoyed the sales representative even though he talked a little too fast and forgot to initially add some stuff that I asked for. I am upset that he said I would be able to record with the doorbell camera 24/7 but I learned later after he left that I would need an additional piece of equipment to do so (The 24/7 recording was one of the main reasons I wanted to switch security providers). I enjoyed working with the technician that came quickly to my house to install the equipment. He was very patient and explained everything to us in detail. All in all I would say it was a good experience.

If there was a problem he should have talked to the salesman that sold the unit to me and worked it out. I ended up with half the equipment I was promised! Not happy one bit.     The Salesman and installer are each very knowledgeable in their work. The equipment is very well up-to-date. The equipment is also more expensive than that which we have had with other companies in the past. In the beginning, the payments will include a 5-year loan for that equipment but with 0% interest. Cameras are hooked up to our electricity and don't require battery charging. No more climbing ladders to get them down, and to put them back up. So far, I would recommend Vivint to all my friends for their home security.

    This is by far the WORST company I have ever had to deal with. I have been using this service for less than a month and have encountered more issues than I care to mention but the most concerning is the lack of honesty this company operates with. When I contacted Vivint about installing cameras in my home I had requested a total of 8 cameras. During the initial sales call, I was told that 8 cameras would be fine and told all these amazing things about their system.. So of course when they said they could send out a technician to finalize my package and talk about camera placement I agreed.

    Once the Tech arrived everything seemed to be going well until he noted that instead of installing the 8 cameras that I wanted we should only install 7 of them because 8 was a little too much for their system to properly function with. Needless to say, I was a little hesitant to lose one of the cameras I wanted but I ultimately decided that the way I was looking to protect my home could still work with 7 cameras as long as their service was as good as this company claims it is. Unfortunately, I was extremely wrong.

    Once the cameras were installed I still had to wait about 4-5 days for a "Storage Tower" to be mailed to me. This is the device that actually holds on to all the records for the camera system that I bought. Had everything worked properly I wouldn't care that it had come later than the initial install but the problem is that their system isn't capable of actually storing and playing feedback for all of the cameras I have! Anytime I try to go back to watch any part of my camera's recording I have to wait for an obscene amount of time for the video to load if it will even load at all. Also, keep in mind since it took more than 3 days to get to me I was already outside of their Cancelation period when I got it, so there was no way to make sure the whole system worked properly in that period of time which I'm sure they do on purpose.

    This video playback feature and the number of cameras that I have are the entire reason I wanted this system but now I'm being told that it won't work the way they promised. I have had representatives try to say my internet speed was too low. (It's not I run over 300mbps upload and the cameras require a total of 14mbps.) Once I called them out on that not being the problem they finally admit that their panel can only handle 5-6 cameras. Trying to stay calm that I have been lied to about the functionality of their system I ask what can be done. They said nothing aside from removing a camera and hoping it works then.

    Well, let me remind you I already gave up a camera in the original install I'm not really in the mood to give up another. So I ask what else can be done. At this point, they transfer me to another agent who offers me $5 off for 5 months. Literally offered me $25 dollars off of a system that is not working properly and that I at this point no longer want! I ended the call with them that day and decided to try again the following day.

    The following day I worked my way up the ladder of sales agents to a very disappointing "consultation" of a "manager" telling me that no one can cancel my contract without me paying over $6,000. Even though he and every other person I have talked to at this company admit that people working for their company blatantly lied to me in order to get me to sign this contract. I am outraged that a business can be ok with their staff outright lying to their customers just to get them into lengthy contracts and then to think that after they have broken said contract by not providing the agreed-upon service that it's ok to tell customers that the customer still needs to hold up their end and pay them. Rest assured I will be doing everything in my power to make sure that as many people as possible hear about the negligent mispractices of this business.

    Setup of my security system was simple; however, I wish there would have been more transparency in the initial process with the walk up sales rep. No mention of a credit pull or credit account opening was ever given and it was only after the rep told me I’d be paying $85 a month for security service, which sounded great, did I find out that a credit check was needed and then I was asked to complete a credit application for Fortiva. Further, the rep stated that the inquiry was a soft pull and it was not. Mind you, the security system does provide peace of mind, but baiting consumers in with videos of Snoop and only mentioning the monthly security payment and no mention of the credit application applicable can be a cause for concern.

    My sales rep was extremely late for our scheduled appointment. When I decided to purchase the system your technician changed his arrival time twice. From 830 to possible 930pm and then arrived to my house at 1015pm. He said it would take him about 4hrs to install the system. Then he didn’t have all the necessary equipment. He left my house at 1am and have to reschedule for august 9 at 6pm. My question to Vivint…is this the service to expect now that I’ve made my purchase? Very sloppy work and customer service. Extremely disappointed!!!

    Overall the alarm system seems to be very user friendly and has some good features. Items that seem to be amiss are the lack of Vivint smart light switches and only one model (888) of the Kwikset lock that are compatible.     The only reason this isn’t a 1 is because the customer service person I talked to corrected most of the issues I had with installation and billing. However, it resulted in hours of wasted time for no reason. The installer was horrible, barely showed us how to use the system, improperly installed some equipment, did a poor job of removing the prior equipment, couldn’t explain the bill and tried to overcharge me. The only response to my questions was I needed to call someone else.

    Jerry was my original rep which was beyond behind one day. I waited 12-6 so he rescheduled for the next morning only to cancel again. He finally came 2 days later and couldn’t find the power source which he believed to be in the crawl space, at this time we didn’t have a ladder so we couldn’t see. 8/3 the job was transferred to Cortland. Once he got here we gave him the run down and he had a ladder in the car which I believe Jerry had also but was too lazy to grab it and start our activation.     The service worker that I was provided was very kind, friendly, knowledgeable, professional. I would highly recommend Vivint security system to my friends and family. I feel safer in my home. The system is very easy to understand and it is easy to work. I absolutely love the camera system. Thank you so much for your service.

    I was told setup would be completed in an hour or I could have the installer start and come back to finish another time, but it took almost 2 and a half hours. I had company over at the time, and was told I wasn't allowed to schedule my installation for any other day- that it had to be done today. It was frustrating to have someone drilling and asking questions in the middle of entertaining- not his fault, he was scheduled for that time, but definitely would have been better for everyone if it could have been done the next day. I wasn't warned that I would need to do everything that day until after the sales rep had already run the credit check, so I felt like I was stuck, and put in a bad place without an option to turn back. Everyone was very kind and helpful, and I'm glad to have it installed, but I felt very rushed to make everything happen right away.

    I enjoyed talking to Jack, he was very informative, and if I didn't understand something he did explain step by step and made sure I understood it, and as the installation person he did show me how to use the system. He as well did an excellent job.
