    They gave us the sales pitch and we had already look into so we knew we were going to go with them. However the install was not great. He pushed us to install late and said they would just be there an hour to install the basics and could come by the next evening to install cameras. That was not relayed to the technicians. They started the install at 10:30pm and finished at 2am. Not good business practice. Hopefully their actual service is better.

    I usually don't buy anything that anyone is selling but the rep Mr. ** was so very charming and convincing, I bought right in. He took so many measures to make sure it was within my price range and found me several discounts as well.     Updated on 08/20/2022: I have been on the phone with customer service every day since having this system installed. I have taken off of work twice and it is still not fully functioning. When I call technical support I am run through the same procedure each time Regardless of how many times I tell them I have already done this. Then each time I end up with the advice that I need a technician. The next available is 3 weeks out. Obviously that is unacceptable given the fact that the original reason for me installing the system is because I was broken into while I was in my home and need protection. After asking for a supervisor I am told “they are busy and to call back” with no time frame of which to do so. Then after arguing endlessly I am promised that I will get a call back.

    I still have yet to receive a call back. So at this point I have no security for myself and my belongings. I’m out $5k and Vivint is clearly tell me they do not care. I need a manager's call back immediately and not a supervisor. This is beyond unacceptable and I feel that if anything further happens to myself or my home that Vivint should be held fully liable. Please advise how you will be fixing this issue. -Ryan

    Original Review: My technician was great. He was the best part of this experience so far. However, my system is still not installed and I have no confirmation of when it will be complete. He is overbooked and the next available time is in 6 months. (He is going to try to fit me in somewhere.) I was quoted a “worst case scenario of $76 a month” over the phone but it ended up being over $100 a month. I did not have a great time deciding what I wanted and what was too much for my needs. All in all a pretty overwhelming and less than satisfactory experience for an expensive service.

    Customer service sucks. We got half of our system installed 5/29, didn’t get the doorbell and water sensors installed until 7/28. This was after numerous calls to the company, messages to our technician, requesting to speak with a manager, and speaking to the manager for our area. We opted out of the thermostat at this point, due to the lack of effort to get everything else installed. The doorbell quit working less than 24 hours later. Here we are, 2 weeks since I began calling and it’s still not installed. They want to give me an appointment a month out. So, they’re wanting me to wait over 3 months for my equipment that I had purchased and started the installation on at the end of May, to be working properly. I have been told by the company over the several months having their service that I would receive calls back for numerous issues and never have received a call back.

    The playback on our cameras suck, half the time they don’t work, they don’t let you rewatch events through the video feed, or there’s no sound. If you save a clip in the video, it doesn’t save to your phone and there’s no sound. Not to mention, somebody walked straight to my camera and stood there and the camera didn’t catch it as a “motion detected”, I saw it when I was rewatching my feed, due to things that have been happening in the neighborhood. If I wasn’t in a locked contract with them, I would cancel everything. I wouldn't pay another dime. Buy a smart home system at Lowe’s and install it yourself, I can guarantee it would be better than this.

    For one year Vivint has overcharged me for the security system in my installed in my home. I did not have any knowledge of this until I called in to their office to move my service and found out from a representative and a supervisor that I had been overcharged for one year. I have called Vivint several times about the refund, which I was told that I would receive within 24-48 hours, in the amount of $971.40, and I keep getting the runaround. Now Vivint wants to backpedal due the large refund amount. Vivint does not want to pay the refund and keeps giving excuses. Vivint has been the worst alarm company to work with. Vivint has very shady practices. I do not want anyone else to go through what I am currently going through with Vivint. This is awful.

I tried to pay off some purchased equipment, and I called three times, and they kept saying they couldn't do it as only the back office can write a balance. It haves been there for weeks and four phone calls, and I am still waiting. The problem is that their billing team is not in the states as they try to cut costs wherever possible. If you buy an alarm from them, you will regret it because their customer service is horrible.

    Vivint was quick to come out and set up services. During the process they upsold us on replacing the fire alarms and installing several sensors which at the time I thought was a good idea. I was also told that there would be no contract required and if we wanted to cancel at any time, we would have to pay off the balance of the equipment.

    The home we had the system is being used as an AirBnB and I can say that 99% of our issues since renting began have been related to the horrible service Vivint provides. Since starting we’ve had 3 false entry alarms, 4 fire alarms, and 1 carbon monoxide alarm go off. Police or Fire were dispatched each time (depending on the alarm type) and each time they found nothing. Each of these alarms occurred while guests were in the house and scared the heck out of them.

    Any time I called to clear the alarms I was transferred several times or put on hold because they either couldn’t clear it or needed me to talk to another department. I’ve spent an extended amount of time with their support to troubleshoot only to hit a wall every time. They even decided to disable one of the fire alarms to stop it from going off… in essence placing anyone staying there in danger.

    I contacted support to cancel service because I am now being fined by the community $200 per false alarm in which Vivint showed no concern about. Upon trying to cancel my account I was told that no refund would be made on the faulty fire alarms and that the balance would need to be paid off. In addition to not reimbursing for faulty equipment I was told that I was locked in to a 5-year contract that would need to be paid off before cancelling. I fully understand that I am responsible for what I sign… but be aware what you are verbally told and what they are asking you to sign when choosing this company. Overall, 3 months of horrible service and faulty equipment cost us $4,000 to get out of.

    My father answered the door. I came down. He was bringing things in. I didn't know the name. I asked him what his name was. He told me. I was about to put my dogs up before I could do that. Wasn't my fault but he said he can't do anything with that info. I had to call the rep Marco to try to get some type of resolution. It was a lot of back and forth with the rep and tech regarding my account. I had some issues with adding my wifi. The tech was not professional and customer service is lacking.

    For a tech to knock on my bedroom door to finish the install. I had my father downstairs. If he needed me he could've told my father to get me to finish. Trash was left in my home as well. The windows are near a long couch never ask me to move it but put his knee in the couch. Didn't get the google speaker they said it came with. Didn't receive info about what was promised when signing up.

    We haven’t even had the service for one day yet, maybe it’s great but our issue is that the sales guy was so pushy. Even after we said “not today” (we needed more time to talk and decide), he came back late at night, hassled us until we finally said yes.     When advertising be clear and specific about the video quality. Your rep insisted on these cameras being 4K but failed to inform me that the camera only offers UP TO 1080p live streaming and recording. Even your website says “A 4K HD sensor delivers up to 1080p live streaming and recording,”. Because your rep failed to be clear about this, I was expecting 4K resolution not 1080p. It was the main reason I decided to purchase. When I texted him to express my concern he insisted that the cameras recorded in 4K resolution. They don’t. Again, even your website states that fact. He even came back to see it for himself and instead suggested my mobile device might not be compatible with 4K.

    I have the iPhone XS Max and my wife has the latest apple iPhone. Both fully capable of 4K resolution. I was also advertised that when zooming in on objects the cameras would re-pixelate, a feature handy when identifying license plates. They don’t. I confirmed this with your rep when he came back the same night after sale and install. He confirmed this sending a text message to the tech saying the cameras are not re-pixelating. The app is also a hit or miss. Sometimes it works smoothly other times it just freezes. The playback option hasn’t worked since they installed it yesterday. I even rebooted the system. Still doesn’t work.

    Overall, because of your false advertising of the video/picture resolution quality and the lack of consistent smooth functioning of your mobile app I am not impressed and not satisfied. With that being said, aside from it, this is an upgrade from what I had except in video/picture resolution. My former system was also 1080p. But besides that, I like the other features like the voice recording on all cameras and the 24/7 surveillance. Had I been explained these things clearly from the beginning, you wouldn’t have had this review. I hope you guys take note of this.

    I previously had Vivint installed, but, due to some installation issues at the time, grew a bit annoyed and in that span switched to ADT system. Hands down a terrible decision. There is no comparison between the Vivint and ADT products. It is the literal difference of operating on a 2022 Macintosh laptop or a 1984 Microsoft PC. I'm just happy to be back with Vivint and their offer to buy me out of my ADT contract (which I did not want to be in) only made the decision easier. This is apples and onions in comparison.     Sales guy was cool. Install guy was messy, chipped my door during install, left debris and wrappers everywhere. First day already had to replace door lock battery. Video playback to even view activity works 3 out of 10 times only. What’s the point if you can’t even re-view the video?? Sales said this was the Apple and Verizon combination of security, I’m not quite sure about that now.

    Installer was great at communicating. I was remote so I needed to make sure everything was coordinated. They let me know when they were in their way so I could be prepared. They got everything set up correctly and allowed me to test it before they left. Everything went smoothly.
