    WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE EXPERIENCE I’VE EVER BEEN A PART OF. We were sold a smart home package (by John **) that ended up coming with much more than we truly needed and at a rate we weren’t thrilled about. When we reached back out to the sales rep with the signed NOCs before the cancellation period, he called us back all but begging us not to cancel, saying that he could extend our trial period and have someone de-install the equipment we didn’t want for a reduced rate. When I asked what the new rate would be, he told me he wouldn’t know and that I would have to call their corporate number to find out. When I called their corporate number, they confirm what I want removed then tell me I have to talk with the sales rep for the rate.

    I text the sales rep back and then he tells me that I have to talk to their corporate number again, saying there's no way for him to give a new rate. We had to DEMAND that the corporate office tell us what a new rate would be before we were able to get an answer. They’ve cancelled appointments to de-install the equipment twice and now all we want is for them to take it all. They refuse, stating we’re “outside the cancellation period” when we already sent the signed NOCs to the sales rep a full day before the cancellation period. We’ve escalated this all the way to a supervisor, and they tell us that there’s not even any notes in their system about the cancellation extension…but that they can’t de-install equipment past the cancellation period without an approved extension...

    So how did we have multiple technicians scheduled to de-install part of the equipment? Who would say yes to continuing an agreement when they don’t even know what a new rate would be? The whole experience has been so unprofessional that I’m amazed they’re still in business. Now we have to wait for a team to go through the recordings of all of our conversations to prove that we got an extension, which we did. It's sad that we have to go through this back and forth, but hopefully the recordings and texts tell all. Stay away if you know what's good for you.

    I’ve had Vivint for years now (initially inherited from prior owners) and just chose them for another home. The install process was informative, easy and their staff was very supportive and knew what the customer wanted (I didn’t feel like I was being sold on any extra equipment). They certainly show appreciation for a dedicated customers. I would recommend them to others.

    One thing to work on is the notification ahead of time (before the install) that the initial quote given involves financing through a different provider and a required credit check. Their financing process was also somewhat odd/stepwise and I wish it was more streamlined. That part caused some distress on my part, but the customer service representative (the install technician) was excellent in handling the situation. I was truly impressed by his service and looking after the customer. Other things for buyers to be aware is that there are other services that Vivint offers that you will be made aware of/offered if you are interested. They are not pushy about it though, it just may be a turn off for some customers.

    This is a con. Was not told that you have 3 days to return product and after 3 days the product is yours. After 30 days you cant change what you bought or downgrade. Also wasn't told that it was a loan and that you have to pay for equipment and the service for the next 5 years. So I'm in month 2 of a 5 yr loan with no option to back out. Salesman Joe ** seemed nice of course but lied and manipulated the whole process knowing that after 30 days there was nothing you can do. The call center will say they are calling him to verify but he isn't answering then low and behold you are past 30 days and they don't want to hear from you. It's a racket and I'm stuck with a so so system while these con artist take advantage of people. Its not right and its a horrible way to do business. If there was a ranking below 0 I would give it. Worse than a car salesman if one person reads this in Joe **'s area close the door on his face and go to anchor security system.

    Worst experience w security company & I've dealt w many. I actually like Vivint products & was eager to install into my newly constructed home. It was a larger order- doorbell, 8 outdoor cameras 3-4 indoor cameras, 11 window sensors, 4 door sensors & misc additions. My home is in Florida and currently I'm in Georgia. So I explained this too thoroughly to Vivint scheduler and appointment was set up for Monday, 8/15/22. Vivint informed me that it was ~10hr job so make sure I was present. No one showed. So I call Vivint explaining that we flew to Florida, rented a hotel (since home in final stages of construction) & rented a car to be there for this appointment.

    I received the transcripted response of apology, reassurance that this rarely happens but tech has been out on Work Comp injury, I was promised that another tech would be there tomorrow, Tuesday 8/16/22. I also asked for a manager. After 20 min wait, Hailly S answered, apologized, gave me a $200 discount on equipment & $10 off for 9 mos. for subscription and guaranteed appointment date & time.

    Tuesday 8/16/22 no Vivint tech. So I called asked for Hailley, but she wasn't available. Instead Josh A responded and attempted to help. I explained to him that I arranged time off work, flight, hotel & rental car for one day (Monday 8/15) & now it's Wednesday 8/17. Vivint no showed twice. Josh assured me that tech would show tomorrow 8/17, 8-10. Josh also would call tech this afternoon to confirm & again in morning before appointment to ensure that everything would go smoothly. To Josh's credit, he did. However tech didn't show. I called Josh, who checked & came back with "tech has car trouble and won't make it.". At this point, I cancelled & requested refund. Take me story for what it's worth. I do feel Vivint schedulers and managers tried their best to resolve the problem. The problem is unreliable tech/installers.

    First, we were pressured into service. Ken Y** (Sr. Regional manager) would not allow us to say no to the service so we decided to give it the trial run. He did not communicate with the installers of where the lights were supposed to be placed. Installers placed lights exactly where I instructed Ken we did not want them. We wanted the lights where our current lights are. After the lights were installed the installers said they could not touch our current lights because the lights were wired into the homes electrical outlet. Again, the communication was not there to inform us of any of that. The decision was made without consulting us.

    They drilled into the stone and there will now be a hole when the cameras are removed. He also claimed that being a corner lot, we would get more coverage in the camera view, and that is false. The explanation of the equipment was not properly explained and we didn't realize we were leasing the equipment. We fully own the equipment from the previous service company we are with so we were bamboozled into that part. Also, the installation was rushed. The wires that power the unit are exposed, uncovered and looks sloppy. Finally, the doorbell chime no longer works upstairs or downstairs. It's safe to say that we are completely dissatisfied with the service. We are waiting for a text reply from Ken to figure this out or remove the equipment.

    BUYER BEWARE: when we moved from our house, we called and asked the company how we could be cancel our service. They recommended that we ask the new owners if they would like the service and if so, we could transfer it to them, by having the new owners call and transfer it, which they did. We were excited to help the new owners out and also give VIvint more business. At the time, we were very pleased with our services. Fast forward several months, we discovered that Vivint was charging us AND the new owners for the same account and same service even though we sold the house in April.

    Vivint refused to credit us back for double charging to households for one service. This is extremely low integrity, dishonest and a VERY poor business practice. Now, they have lost a long term client as we were planning to renew in our new home that we are building. AND Vivint's reputation has been diminished to shady at best. He also said he couldn’t use any pre wiring that our builder had installed and instead drilled all his own holes when we were previously promised the pre wire would be okay.     Typically I have a rule to never buy from door to door salesmen and now I am learning a lesson for not sticking to my gut. Sales rep completely lied about how it would report on my credit.     After several calls I finally called a number in Waco but it went to a person I thank was in Utah? This person spent several hours trying to get my system up, by giving to another person who want to know what I knew about my system, again I knew NOTHING after trying a few things it was determined that the system was non- function and they could not get to me for 2.5 weeks, then the first person texted me to get some kind of manager to talk me through the disconnect the system. Mr. Samual ** was the Field Service Technician that came by early than the appointment Time.

    He was very polite and efficient. He did a great Job. Explained Everything about the Vivint system. He found the touch screen was not working and needed to be reset, new software downloaded. After that it all worked. The bottom line all they had to do is get a local person on the phone then come by to check the system out? Waco, Texas Does have a Tech! Also you might want have some short form instructions on how to use the system, because you might not remember all of the instructions, or at least have a PDF on file on the website, HUH!

    Setup was great, installer was very professional and explained everything as he went along. All equipment was up and running good (2 cameras installed 1 in front and 1 in back upon setup but later that day backyard Camera is no longer working. Says it's offline. I have contacted installer but does not seem too concerned that it is not working. I get that he is installing elsewhere but he did say for me to contact him if I had any issues.

    Our install tech was professional and made sure we understood the system before he left. The system install went quickly and everything was as we asked. I took off 1-star because of the issues prior to install. We ordered and scheduled installation in July. Appointment was set for 8/3. They called me morning of the appointment to cancel. Rescheduled for 8/6. Didn’t even bother to call me to cancel the second time, just got a text 2 hours after the scheduled window asking me if I was ready to reschedule. I was promised a discount by a supervisor named Tait for the inconvenience if I agreed to reschedule for 8/17, but I never received it the discount and our install rep had no notes about the discount.
