    Sign up lasted about two hours when I was told it would only take about 20 minutes. The representative did not know what he was doing. He called the customer service line for assistance. They couldn’t help him either. I think he called a coworker that eventually was able to assist him in signing me up. The installation process was strange. Initially I was told that they would come that night, which was about 9 o’clock to install then I was told that they were all booked up so they could not come. So they will come the next day and someone just needed to be home to let them in.

    I had to work so I had my spouse go over to let them in and install. Come to find out there was more paperwork I had to sign which I was not told about, so they were not able to install because I was at work and unable to sign the paperwork that I was not informed about. I was told they would come back the next day after work which again was going to be about 9 o’clock at night. I received a text that my technician was on the way and he would be there between 9 o’clock and 930. I received a call from the same representative saying that the technician was about an hour away so it could be about 10 or 11 o’clock at night.

    I was uncomfortable with a stranger in my house that late at night so I asked to reschedule, so we agreed on Monday. Monday comes I get a text that the technician is on the way. He arrives and tells me that the installation process is about 30 minutes. The installation process ended up taking three hours. So far I am very satisfied with my system. Just make sure you have plenty of time and patience when it comes to signing up for this product and the installation.

    I had a truly horrendous experience with Vivint Alarm company. They will trap you in a contract that feels like a legal prison sentence! When I signed up with them, I was never informed about the sneaky clause that handcuffs you to their service even if you relocate and no longer need security services and we have fully paid off the equipment that will be staying at our old home.

    The equipment itself is crazy expensive, and paying it off feels like a never-ending nightmare. Now that I'm trying to cancel my service, they've revealed this outrageous contract clause that forces you to keep paying them even if you no longer use their services. It's like they're holding me hostage financially! Their customer service is abysmal too. When I tried to cancel, they used every trick in the book to pressure me into staying with them. I feel like I'm throwing money down the drain for services I don't even have anymore. This whole situation feels like a shady scam, and I'm convinced it must be illegal. Avoid Vivint Alarm company at all costs unless you enjoy being financially shackled to a company that cares more about trapping you in a contract than providing decent service. Stay far away!

    A Vivint rep knocked on the door and I started talking to him. Their offer was $20 more a month than ADT. However, what I got for the money was far better.     Our experience with Vivint was the epitome of unprofessional and incompetent. The technician incorrectly installed every part of the system from the control panel, to the cameras, to the doorbell. He "didn't realize" that our outlets were upside down and drilled the hole for the control panel at the wrong location. That was his "bad" so he added an extra outlet so that the unit extends 4 inches from the wall that is completely exposed and quite enticing and dangerous to my 2 year old. He did not measure to drill holes for the back door wiring, simply held up his fingers and said "this looks good enough, right?" and so the wire enters 3 inches above the door frame and is an absolute eyesore.

    For the doorbell, he drilled completely through the door frame and split the doorframe on the inside when he could have simply shifted the doorbell 1 inch to the side and not have interfered with the integrity of my inner frame. He attempted to drill through the middle of the living room wall which would have been the first thing seen when entering the living room (see photo with blue markings of planned cord placement). When we requested other options due to the egregious position of the wiring, he argued with us. He was at our house from 11:30am until after 9:00pm, and spent the majority of the time talking to anyone present or watching TikTok videos. I am unsure if these mistakes were due to his lack of skill or attention, however, an at-home DIY would have been better executed than this "professional" installation.

    The Vivint System as a whole is highly flawed - we were not made aware of the need to be plugged in or the lack of electrical skill of the technicians. All wires are haphazardly stapled to the walls, which again, is beyond unsafe with a toddler in our home and hideous. Vivint does not provide cord covers, did not offer style options for the locks, and again, did not make clear how their system would be installed prior. If we had known this, we would have selected a different security system or paid an electrician to install professionally rather than the hack job that we've experienced.

    I have been a Vivint customer for six years. I was pretty happy with this company until November of 2023 when I agreed to update my monitor and doorbell camera as recommended. The order was placed by phone for an agreed price of $500. When the technician came to install weeks later he said that the price was $550. He shrugged his shoulders about the discrepancy in price. The monitor froze within a week or so and I waited many weeks for a technician to come and replace it. I was unhappy with the doorbell playback feature which I paid an additional $300 and asked for my money back right away and was given a run around for many days and hours.

    After endless hours on the phone speaking with people who kept asking me to repeat myself did I learned that Vivint has a no return policy. This had not been disclosed. In fact, instead of just telling me they have a no return/no cancellation policy they kept offering me credits for monthly service which were not applied to my account until May 2024 and then they only honored some of the promised credits. In January I'm was waiting for a technician to show up and waited at home several days for a no show technician. I believe they gave me a free lock to compensate me for these missed appointments. The company was drafting my account monthly for payments on equipment. I spent hours on the phone trying to find out how much I owed them but no one could tell me. I was trying to figure out if they gave me my money back for the playback camera that does not work to my satisfaction.

    When technicians do come out they ask me to sign but can not tell me how much I owe or what is going to be drafted from my account. My online account does not reflect how much I owe this company or any changes made to my equipment or services. I don't know what has happened to this company that they are now a big headache to work with with.

    Sales associate showed us the demo which really sold us on switching from ring camera. The imaging was clear but after install the imaging was not as clear as shown. The installer said the demo video was different than what the actual product gives which is ridiculous since you’re selling with false information. The install was frustrating since the sales associate also said the system would be hardwired but failed to mention it needed to be close to an outlet which limits your placement options. I will say then gentleman were really nice but I don’t see ourselves keeping this system.

    I just got my new system installed today. I had an alarm system with a different company and hadn’t planned to change, but the representative was very nice and explained the Vivint system so well, I decided to. Vivint has more options and especially being able to control it from my phone was a huge advantage. Coulson ** spent a lot of time with me explaining everything I could expect. He even came back after installation to make sure everything went well and answer any other questions I had. I’m 78y/o so I was very appreciative of that.

Michael showed me how to operate the system with my phone after they installed the new locks, smoke and carbon monoxide alarms.     VERY poor general customer service, but outstanding dedication to consumer support on the part of the transfer team. General customer service is in over their heads. Lost in the sauce for sure. In short: my ex and I split, she tried to get the system moved over to my name, I agreed, and the whole process took a crazy amount of time. She was the primary so I couldn't receive any info on the account despite being the homeowner and still living in the home. Thankfully my ex and I are amicable so I didn't have to worry about a scorned ex trying to enter my whole while having full control of my home's security system. General customer service gave me multiple instances of "Well try to call her maybe?" Imagine how well that would go over in an abuse situation. Absolutely ridiculous.

    After waiting a cumulative 4 hours on hold and playing phone tag, missing work, and damn near selling my soul just for the privilege of paying them money, the transfer team shown as a bright light in the shade of nonsense. Braden, Brooke, and Becca with the transfer team made it right, plain and simple. Caring, concise, and empathetic. They expressed concern over my treatment thus far and are the SOLE reason I didn't file complaints with the BBB, OK consumer protection office, and attorney General. Vivint, you are screwing up by running your customers around the flagpole before sending them to the people that actually care. TLDR: Moving systems from one person to another was a massive pain in the rear, but after finally getting to the transfer team, it was smooth sailing. Vivint's challenge is not losing the customer before they get there.

    The technician that installed my system explained everything in detail and always asked where I want everything to be installed at. He was very kind. He did fall through my ceiling and I am waiting for someone to call me about fixing that. He did not give me a number to call or what to do if no one calls. I was also told he was going to be install window and door sensors but I have some in place but was still change as if it brand new sensors were installed. Overall I am not satisfied with this experience. I am not happy with the hole in my bathroom ceiling.

    The technician came out and was immediately answered a personal phone call that took 10-15 minutes.     A Vivint sales person did a very effective sales presentation and my wife and I decided to go ahead with a purchase and install. That is when the following problems became obvious. 1. The sales person had NO city license to sell door to door. I should not have let him in our house. 2. Both the installer that came later and the salesperson are not actually Vivint full time employees but were part of your 2-3 week summer college she sales force that are Commission based pay. This is stupid.

    3. The installer “installed all the equipment“ then discovered that the cameras would not connect and the smart phone app would not work. He spent along time trying to get the cameras to connect to no avail. He even returned the next day and tried installing “bridges” to see if that would work. It did not and then the 3rd day he suggested that he might move the control unit to a different location. That is when we decided to cancel the whole system. That is also when I learned that they are not hourly paid; but paid by the install job. They should have placed all of the equipment in the areas they would be installed and then made sure the panel could connect to the network and all of the devices. I can’t believe this is not your procedure. If so; you should be responsible to repair all of the holes in our drywall and exterior brick and stucco. I probably will contact the BBB over this.

    4. The person that came to remove all of the equipment was older and obviously experienced. He apologized for the events to this point But still left us with holes everywhere. We have since contacted some of our friends and relatives about this event. They all said this is the norm with Vivint. I will do everything in my ability to discourage anyone from considering Vivint and let them know your poor business model and Customer Service. Your systems just don’t work!! We will never consider Vivint for any future needs

    Install was great. But even though I had in writing my concern with Justin in Sales that the proposal did not include the three agreed upon hardwired cameras. He assured me in writing it did. So after approximately one hour going back’ n forth they increased the purchase price by nearly $100 and an increase in a few months by over 5%. They are going to raise the monitoring price by the higher price after honoring the agreed upon price for several months (but that’s based on me trusting AGAIN). We will see.
