    I was advised by my son to use Vivint when I was ready to add security my newly acquired home. He had another company, and I said I did not know Vivint. Another friend had a Vivint sign in their yard, so I asked her about the company. She too gave a great rating about Vivint in comparison to another well known security company. I was ready and made the call. I am pleased to say that the technician was very kind and patient. I was late, but he waited as I drove home from work. My house was in a mess, but he understood, as I was always out working, thus the need to have the security system installed. The technician was very knowledgeable, he worked for hours to have everything working properly. I must say that I am a satisfied customer.

    I was able to remotely arm and disarm the system, making it easy to get into and out of my home. I was able to see what was happening outside at night as I heard noises close by. As I am sitting in my living room now, there is a peace that having the security system gives me. I am thankful for Vivint for the added comfort and security of living at home. Thanks!

    The initial interaction with the sales people was good and we came to a purchase agreement about 7:30 PM. I was informed the install would start at 8:30 PM and be completed by about 10:30 PM. I thought this was a little bit late and would’ve preferred for it to be done the next day. The install was completed by 12:30 AM, which was very late. Everything appeared to be working fine but it was late so I’m not sure we covered all areas. The next day I discovered there was a $199 charge on the purchase that I did not believe was included. I contacted the sales person and he backtracked from our previous agreement and said no this charge was supposed to be included. I disagreed but left it there.

    Later that day we discovered that the doorbell sound was not working. I contacted both the salesman and the technician and was given some instructions to check the system and make some adjustments. We tried making the adjustments late in the evening, but they did not work and the technician said he would try to fix it remotely. It is currently the next morning and I am waiting to see if the remote fix will be done today. So far the system has functioned as intended.

    I’ve had the Vivint system since October 2024, and to be honest—I’m not in love with it. When the sales rep came to my door, everything sounded great, and I was genuinely excited about upgrading my home security. But since then, it’s been one expensive disappointment after another. First, I was told by both the sales person and the initial installer that my existing equipment would integrate just fine—I wouldn’t need to replace everything. That turned out to be completely false. After just a month or two, I started hearing loud, annoying noises from the system. When I called Vivint, they said it was due to the old equipment and it now needed to be replaced. That call alone cost me a service fee plus over $800 for new equipment I was originally told I didn’t need.

    What was supposed to be a manageable monthly setup—about $50 for monitoring and $45 for equipment—ended up ballooning with an extra $250/month added for more equipment. That’s thousands of unexpected dollars, and it feels like a bait-and-switch. Vivint really needs to be more transparent. If I had been given a true, full picture of the total cost from the beginning, I could’ve made a more informed decision. There are cheaper, more straightforward options out there, and I regret not exploring them sooner.

    When I called to make the quote, I told the seller how many windows and doors I had. I accepted the proposal thinking that what I had asked for was what I had been quoted. When the installer arrived, I was notified that I only had three sensors, the camera on the door and outside. My house has 8 windows, 1 sliding door and 3 doors. When I call the seller, he accepted that it had been a mistake, that he does not know what happened and that he remembered my conversation. The installer called his supervisor and in order to stay paying me more or less what I was told I ended up without the motion sensor inside the house, the smoke detector and I had to pay an additional $100 to add the missing sensors and however I want I do not cover a window.

    I chose this company because of the advertisement they have on Facebook and because of the price you gave me. Today is the last day to remove the alarm system and I am sincerely considering it. The seller did not tell me that to record it was an additional $300, that the motion sensor of the outside camera is an additional cost. I got all this information thanks to the installer which was excellent. I feel deceived, if I had known all the information I probably would not have chosen them. As the seller tells you, I had other quotes with the same price including ADT.

    Salespeople were extremely pushy. Would not take no for an answer and took a lot of asking for them to get out of my home. They will also lie to get you in contract. I let them know what I was currently paying for my previous security system and said I would like to match it since prices are going up everywhere. I did not want this added to that as well. He said no problem and matched it. He was extremely pushy about breezing through the contract but I noted that the payment we agreed on was stated in the contract. I was happy with that and finally agreed. I stated “this is the payment forever and will not go up” and he said “yes”. They got out of the house and the technician was already in the driveway. I felt off about it since they were so quick to breeze through the contract.

    I double-checked it and, while it was hard to find because it was on a separate short-term discount page, it stated it would go up 30$ after one month and 20$ after 6 months. So the longer I have the system the more I have to pay. The price we agreed on was only for the first month (also the 1st month is the only statement you can check so I’m sure they get a lot of people with this). Upon noticing this I let the technician know to please stop his progress until we figure this out. Of course he let his company know and the sales guy called me back. He said “wow I’m impressed you caught that” as if it was not just him pulling one over on me. I said “I literally asked if it stayed that price for the full contract and you said yes." He begged for me to carry on and said the money that rises will be worth it for security for my family. (I still actively have security so I'm not hurting to change if it’s not better.)

    The way he tried to navigate the conversation was very snakey and give me the idea that they think their customer base is dumb. I stated that he is in the home security business and lied in the first step. I will not be continuing to install the system because if I can’t trust the salesperson for a SECURITY system I am not going to extend trust to the actual system. He asked to please install it and give him 30 days to cancel. I replied I’ve said no plenty of times and this is the end of it. I had to repair the damage done to my existent security system as well. (Door chime was gone? And camera power cord was smashed.)

    I did not blame the technician as I’m sure in his head it was not a big deal since he was original butting his stuff in. All in all I do not recommend them just based off the snake tactics of the salespeople. In this day and age where everything is expensive they are making it worse for people. I’m glad I was out before the contract started and hope people know what they are getting into.

    I received either the wrong info or different info from the agents. Simple things like non rechargeable batteries can not be used. That there is an app and how to sign into the app. The fact that I couldn’t hear anything from upstairs and had to buy an extra sensor.     I hired Vivint security company to install a system on March 17, 2025. During the installation, the technician placed two sensors on the front windows, which made it impossible for me to open them. I called the company on March 22, 2025, via chat and spoke with a representative named Alfonso. He instructed me to resolve the issue myself, but despite my efforts, I couldn't fix it.

    Two days later, I called again and waited for over ten minutes, only for the representative, May, to abruptly hang up on me. Frustrated, I called back and spoke with Juan. After 30 minutes, he assured me that a technician would arrive the following day, March 25, 2025, between 12:00 PM and 4:00 PM. However, the technician did not show up and instead called me at 4:35 PM, unaware of the issue he was supposed to address. His behavior was unacceptable—he was disrespectful, raised his voice, and refused to commit to resolving the problem, stating, “I am going to send someone else.” This level of service is intolerable, and to this day, no one from the company has called me regarding the issue. I have filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau (BBB). I expect an immediate cancellation of this poor service. Companies like Vivint target vulnerable senior citizens.

    Contacted Vivint and spoke w/ representative who went over pricing and scheduled install. While on the phone, the representative quoted me 69.00 a month along with a 3 year contact to pay off security equipment. After agreeing to the plan, I was immediately charged $41.47 on my credit card for service. Fast forward 2 weeks later, an install tech arrived and stated my monthly payment would be 89.00 and requires a 5 year contract to pay off the equipment. When I didn't agree with the increased pricing and new terms, Tech changed the price to 75.00 a month. He then says, "Well the company is definitely overcharging you, while, I'm here call customer service and tell them you want to cancel and I'll get you a cheaper plan 30 days from now."

    Tech then puts me on the phone with a customer service representative who says, what were you paying a month with your previous home security provider? I replied, 60.00. Representative replies and says, I can match that if you go thru with the installation, During the conversation, that was on speaker phone, tech is shaking his head no and tells me to refuse that plan.

    I then contacted customer service 2 times in efforts to get my $41.47 refunded, but that came with negative results. In addition, during the process a fly by night credit card was opened in my name to pay for security equipment that I never ultimately agreed to. The whole encounter was anything short of awkward and a waste of my time, money, and credit score. Word of advice, run from this company.

    Walk away from this company! They are overpriced for equipment that malfunctions on a consistent basis. We have a total home security system (cameras, sensors, alarm) and all the equipment has and continues to have multiple malfunction issues. We pay for "added" monthly service protection where they are supposed to send out a Technician instead of charging you $99.00 every time you need tech support and they try everything they can to have you do the troubleshooting (when that still doesn't solve the issues) instead of of sending someone out. The amount of hours on the phone, the frustration of paying so much for a system that doesn't offer consistent protection. They don't stand behind their products. Find another more reliable company.

    I was told one thing by the representative that had me sign up. Then the installer comes and goes over the information again and nothing that he said to me was on that. He told me I could cancel anytime three months six months anywhere down the road I can cancel. It’s three days. Called him and told him I wanted it in writing. Still haven’t heard from him. He’s A smooth talker. Very little what he told me about the product and signing up. When I asked how much the total cost was, he just gave me my monthly cost. He wrote down one thing on a piece of paper for me as he figured it out, but I didn’t get half of what he wrote down. Installer was really nice. So was the one that stood at the door and explain a few things to me. But he told me what he thought I wanted to hear, and I kept asking him questions and he would not respond with a full complete response. he filled it in with other stuff.

    I have enough going on in my life besides putting for a $3000 alarm system for the next 5+ years. So I will be canceling for Monday morning. I feel like I’ve been scammed. And yes, I did go back and look at the contract what it says. And he told me just tell him that Lincoln told you you could cancel anytime. But that’s not how life works. Probably even have it in writing and it would still go wrong for me. I will not give a good review on Facebook for you or any other place. Again I feel like I’ve been scammed. At least I didn’t put any money into it.

When the tech came out, he was very professional, very knowledgeable, and very kind. It all went well. The only negative thing that happened was that the prices quoted to me by the phone agent weren’t the same as what the tech had down. So I had to contact the phone agent several times, and she made sure I got the prices I was originally quoted. So the company makes a big deal about honoring their word, which I appreciate. My recommendation would be to have the phone agent send you an email with all the prices quoted. We’d received an email, but it didn’t have all the prices. My only noticeable flaw to point out about Vivint is the Cameras are stationary. With Ring it is wider Camera vision and the Cameras move left to right. That's important because if a Possible intruder walks up they can hit an angle known as a Blindspot. Hard to track a criminal if the Cameras are stationary. Also The night vision isn’t great.     I recently became a Vivint customer. I had a rep P who was in my area with is supervisor; both gentlemen came in to my house explained in details what Vivint was offering for smart home security. At the time o had ADT for 7+ years. I was pleased 😢 with the information and the fact that I would be receiving door bell and the water sensor as well as the price breakdown was good. I was assured that this is a soft credit with no impact whatsoever to your credit. I decided to move forward, the soft credit was done and approved. My equipment installation was done 3/8/25. On 3/19/25 I received a notification from my credit that it went down 23 points due to a hard pulled from Fortiva. I wasn't aware who this company was, when I called 🤔 the customer service number, this company is affiliated with Vivint. Fortiva ran a hard credit on 3/14/25.

    When I called the explanation received not by Louis the 1st rep, he knew nothing and was been a jerk. I requested another c.s.rep after 10 minutes of back and forth with Louis. Ariel fetch on the phone. She started with the stupidity of not knowing what the call was regarding 🙄 until my voice got ELEVATED 😐 then she knew and stated that yes, Vivint should not tell customer 😒 that they will not be a hard credit pulled because obviously 🙄 they are wrong. I feel that I was laid about the entire set up. Why would a hard credit get done after the consumer has the equipment installed 🤔. Maybe nothing will be done. However, I would definitely be aware i find thus company not to be trustworthy. Vivint and Fortiva. I feel stuck, dupe into this. BE Aware. 🙏

    First rep I spoke with gave me a quote on my monthly bill and how much I’d have to pay. I had zero down payment but had to pay for first month fee is what I was told. I didn’t schedule that day…called back a few weeks later and another rep was able to pull up what I wanted which was: one indoor camera, 2 outdoor cameras, 2 window sensors, 2 door sensors and the doorbell. The fee was higher even though I originally had 2 indoor cameras. They send me the contract to sign and it has everything I asked for but the wrong date so I called back and another rep tells me, “it’s ok to sign we have the correct date that we will install but if you don’t feel comfortable you can wait”

    I waited for my appt which was in a few days…The tech finishes and later I get a text with a link to click and verify. I notice my indoor camera, and window sensors aren’t on the receipt so I called and talked to another rep and was told “but you weren’t charged”. The issue is, that it was on my order to have it installed and I was unable to pull up the contract that I didn’t sign at 1st because the link expires in 48 hours. It’s been an inconvenience because I’m on a different state having my friend watch my house and now they have to go back over tomorrow to finish what should’ve been done the 1st time. The tech guy was nice and the cameras installed show great but I was very disappointed in the set up process!

    Our sales person Jaeger was great. The installation team was great, however, they were missing two carbon monoxide sensors, a yard sign and four windows stickers. I paid for a garage door controller, that doesn't look to be installed and is not set up on the panel. We received a text Sunday o3/16/2025 morning that a technician would come out between the hours of six pm and eight pm but no one showed up. I missed the window to set up the app access link and need to have that reset. I tried to fix it myself but revoked remote as access trying to re establish the link. It did not work and now we have no control with the app. I was going to talk to the tech about it but they never showed up. If this doesn't get resolved Or an action plan is not created, before the free look period expires on 03/19/2025, I will cancel the order.
