Vivint’s service is excellent. I got to know this company through their door-to-door guy. He was very informative. Their installation tech was very good and informative too. He took his time to explain the various equipment that I purchased. Also, the customer service has been good. I had a couple of other things where Vivint's techs had to come back and tweak, but overall, the customer service team was very effective in getting my problems resolved.

I've been having a few issues with the system and also a crack in my nest. I requested a service call. The appointment was scheduled between 9-12. I received a phone call at 12:45 stating that they would not be able to come out to my house either to just give me the face of the nest for me to replace on my own or come and do it themselves. I asked for a few alternative ways for them to still make it being as though I work seven days a week and do not have open availability. I was told they would call me back and it has been about 3 days now since the scheduled appointment and I have not heard anything from anyone. I am very upset and am considering just going back to my original security system.

Within 4 days of installation we already had equipment that was not working correctly. Although they had an installation tech available the next day when I placed my order, when they needed to come fix the things not working it was going to be several days before someone could come out. I wish I had gone with a different company.

Service was great. He was very detail and explain everything. His name is Joseph **. He provide information on each item, the cameras, the monitor on how to work it if someone would come in the house, which buttons to key for emergency.

So far things are going good. Knowing that our property is protected by this system, at ease with not having to constantly check outside and walk around shop. Had to call the tech back once to help with cameras, very prompt and very knowledgeable on what problem was.

A sales rep of Vivint knocked at my door and told me all about their home security service. At that time, I wasn't happy with my other security provider, so we switched over and I’ve been with Vivint for quite a few years now. I have the sensors on all my doors and windows, the app, and a camera inside my house. I wanted a camera inside because if anyone were to break in through my front or back door, the camera inside would catch it.
The sales people were very nice and cooperative. Whatever I needed, they were willing to go above and beyond to make us happy. We've just moved to a new location four months ago and I knew the guy that set my security system up in Rayne before, so it was great having someone that I knew come into my house to do the installation. We like Vivint and I'm definitely satisfied with their service. Whenever I've had to call, they've treated me very well. They're a great company to have an alarm system with.

A friend of mine had gotten a Vivint system and liked it, so I also got Vivint. That was five years ago and I also got an update about a year ago. Both times I had to talk to a salesman on the phone and they were very friendly and knowledgeable. Because I'm a truck driver and I'm gone three days out of the week, they suggested some things like the doorbell video. I also have the glass break sensor, the indoor and outdoor cameras and the fire sensor. I've also got sensors on my back door, garage and front door. This way, I go on my phone, check everything and make sure that everything's all right.
The installations, the first time and for the update, were real good. The technicians seemed friendly and knowledgeable. They called me 30 minutes before they were even supposed to be there to let me know that they're on their way. I'm completely satisfied with the service and the equipment. Vivint is a good company and I'm happy with them. They did what they said they’re going to do and their equipment is a lot better than some of the other ones out here.

A door-to-door salesman told us about Vivint and we ended up getting a smoke detector, medical alarm, remote and the keypad for the front and back doors. We were supposed to have window sensors, too, but they were never installed. My mother was living here at that time and she wanted those features. Once installed, they showed me how to work the system and I also had the paperwork. This was four years ago and everything’s been okay.

It started on Friday. I took the day off work to have the system installed. The window was 8 to 10 am and time needed was 4 hours 45 minutes. The tech arrived at 10:45 and stay past 6 pm. When he left the system was not working properly. It had lag and the phone app kept giving an "App unavailable. We are doing maintenance on our end. Please hang tight and try again later." Or a " Command failed". He said to call it in. They would help me with the phone application.
I called in and was told that the application had just been updated and had a few bugs to give it until Monday. Monday came around the glitches were still there because I will still not able to get into the app consistently. I called again and it was told that they had again updated the app, at this point I did not believe them so I went to the Google Play Store and saw that the application had not been updated since July 14th. I called again and they sent out another technician.
The technician was not rude to me but he had to call in to get help from his technical department. During the call he was told twice to either replace the panel with one that had a 3.9 firmware upgrade or to upgrade the panel that I currently had to the 3.9 firmware. The tech refused to do the upgrade and hung up on the company Tech he had just called. He then turned to me and said, "I will not upgrade you to the 3.9 because it is horrible and full of bugs." So the tech wanted to leave and said that the application problem would have to be handled by the customer service. Once again he made notations on his work order and turned it in. I called in after he left and I ended up having to do the firmware update to the panel. I had to hook up the speaker which was not plugged in, I also had to attach the positive wire to the panel because it was also not hooked up.
I have been transferred so many times every time I call and many of the time the customer service person transferring me did not tell the other person what was going on so I ended up having to explain myself countless times. It is now 7 days after the initial install and the system still does not work correctly. My app does not communicate with the panel. Today August 25th 2017 I was told that a tech would come between 4 and 8 to correct the situation, install a roof antenna which would allow the cell signal from their panel to reach our phones. It is now 6:33 and I received a call from the tech saying that he would not make it.
I had to call Vivint again and after being on hold for a very long time I let them know that if the system is not up and working today, I wanted all their junk out of my house. I have never made contact with a company that lies so much and has so little regard for the time of the customer. If they are able to correct all of these issues I will update this review to reflect the solution. I know that they have had many failings and right now I have a very poor view of this company, but if they can correct their mistakes I will be willing to revisit this.

John was my installer. He was extremely polite. Very knowledgeable. He explained how to use security system in easy to understand terms. Cleaned up any shavings from drilling. He gets 5 stars. If I need an installer again I hope it would be John. Perfect service.

This morning when we tried disarming our system we found the sky panel frozen. Had to call support and they walked me through taking panel apart and ran into a couple of issues. As a result my wife was late for her doctor's appointment and I was late for work. Shameful because I just switched from ADT to you. Very frustrating and NOT HAPPY with Vivint at this point.

Terrible unorganized, false hopes. Informative. Unreasonable demands at the time of service already being installed. Do work at all without wifi. The most terrible experience I had is when I had equipment and they tried to make me buy more for $549 ran my credit and made me get a loan form citizens.

I have Vivint for about four years. I got a smoke alarm, two motion detectors, and alarms on the doors because I live around the country and I don't have any neighbors. About a week ago, we had to put a new battery in the smoke alarm. Whatever we had to do to put a new part in, we had to get somebody come out and do it. Other than that, it has been great.

My son’s got service with Vivint and he told me about them. We live out off of a dirt road and in our neighborhood, we have had one or two break-ins. My service package includes all the doors, seven windows and a motion detector. I've had the service for at least five years now and until three months ago, I used to really like the service. The sensor on our sliding glass door kept falling off and they had to send someone out. But when he fixed it, we started having issues with our door that goes to the garage. He had drilled an extra hole in our door that goes to the garage and the thing that he put out on the sliding glass door, he didn't even put it on right. He didn't know what he was doing and he messed up two of my doors. It was horrible. They told me they were going to send me a $100 check and I even talked to them a month ago about it, but I never received it and I still got the hole in the door.
Another thing I didn't like was one time, our low sensor kept going off and my dogs go crazy when that’s beeping. We had to call somebody out here 'cause we never could get the sensors straight in those two doors. But I like Vivint 'cause the alarms work and I like their service overall. But they need to make sure they have good people to send out here and they should have refunded me the money on my door. I'm not satisfied with what they did the last time. They should be a person of their word and do what they say. Until three months ago, I would highly recommend them and if they would resolve my issue and refund my money, I would highly recommend them again.

I liked Vivint’s system when we had it, but since we no longer live in the townhouse, we gave our Vivint system to the people who bought the house from us. The dad said, “Oh, that’s wonderful. So, we can transfer it over.” However, we can’t transfer the contract because I did not realize that we signed a five year contract. I don’t remember Vivint’s reps saying it was five years because most of them are one year contracts. So, we just assumed it was a one year contract. Also, we got kind of shove into the contract. My husband was the one that signed the contract. I am leaving the system in the house and I’m paying the monthly fee. It’s cheaper for me to pay $54 a month than to cancel the service and pay $2000.
Before Vivint, we have had ADT until we got unhappy with them. When we went with Vivint, the salesman said we’re getting free installation if we took right then. However, we did not get what he said. We were still charged with the $100 fee. We got the feeling that the guy was more interested in making the sale and he may had the good intentions of paying it, but he didn’t. My husband also had problems when Vivint first put the system in. He had a lot of panic attack buttons pushed on that because he was trying to push buttons instead of using a remote. But Vivint’s reps were really good about helping him out with that. They were very nice to him. Somebody from Vivint was calling my husband everyday to see if they could help because he was punching buttons that he never should punch.

The salesman (Brandon) was amazing and the installers were very professional. The only issue I have is that I am surprised that there are no decals available, other than the tiny ones. I would like a large sticker for the back of my garage for my security and I also would assume you wouldn't mind the advertising!

I have been a loyal- without contract customer for 4+ years, which is not the norm for a residential alarm consumer. They pretty much had my business because they originally came as a package deal with ATT 5 years ago. My box kept falling off of the wall, which is not covered by general maintenance. I had someone come out and put the box back on the wall and 3 months later it fell off again. The wires snapped and when I called they said there would be a charge to come out and fix it. I had no alarm service from March (and they can see that in their monitoring system) because the wires snapped from March to June. I called in June because I wanted them to remove the equipment and cancel my services.
The customer loyalty department after hours of assuring me that they would credit me for the non working alarm months, 52.99, reduce my monthly rate to 39.99 and come out to update my box, check all the equipment and install a camera (all for a great reduced price) for my loyalty. I agreed to the contract (3yrs) for the cheaper monthly price and they were going to credit me 3 months and partial installation. They worked it so that at the end of the day they said if I paid for the camera and installation there would no money owed be a credit on my account for 40.00 almost 1 month of service without fees. One of the non-working months they ran my credit card and it went through for the 52.99.
This evening after 3 weeks of Robo call bill collectors I answered. I insisted someone look at the notes, make sure my credit was issued, etc. After being on the phone for almost an hour Edwin comes back and said, "Jacob, the previous customer service agent never mentioned a credit but due to your frustration we will give you a free month." I said that that is ridiculous because they already promised me a credit for my no service months. He said, "Sorry but you have a contract now and unless someone buys it you are responsible for it. You have no choice but to pay because you have a contract."
I am so sick of the lies. I was on the phone with customer service in total for almost 3 hours, they have no notes? Or details? I have my phone records of my phone calls which I am sure they will not be happy about. I plan on calling and writing to several news agencies in the am. This is a deliberate and manipulative sales practice that deceived me in order to have me agree to a contract under false pretenses. I am not paying dime and will pursue this to any length of the law. I'm so disgusted by these underhanded practices, and to think they had me as a loyal non-contracting consumer... Very sad. Don't use them!

Vivint's rep explained everything to me right and I got a good package. I have two cameras and a smoke detector on my patio door. Then the technician came right on time, was real friendly and sat me down in the middle of coffee. When I had a bit of trouble with the cameras in the first few weeks, they came out and replaced it. The cameras are working perfectly now. I’m 100% satisfied with their service and I told my neighbor about them. My two daughters also have Vivint.

Some sales guy from Vivint walked down the street and stopped at every house. I wanted something basic so we purchased the service package for doors and windows. It’s an easy system. You just press the button to turn it on at night. I’m just worried that the batteries go out pretty quickly. I already changed six of them in two and a half years. To me, having a security system helps. It doesn't matter which company I have, but just having one makes me feel better.

We've had the Vivint home security service for a while. I've got glass break sensors, motion detector sensors, and a smoke alarm. When I first got Vivint, I still had the old control panel from ADT. But it was very clumsy to use and to start and turn off so we didn't use it very much for home protection, other than for the smoke alarm. That unit had to be replaced and now, I've got the new, digital control panel. It's easier to use and I like it so much. We use it all the time now and I even set it when I go to bed even though we have a dog.
Our glass break sensors also started to fail. I had two false alarms wherein the police were called to my house even though we were upstairs. Their response was so fast that they were here before we knew it, and I had to pay a penalty or be issued a ticket for the second visit. I called Vivint and told them I couldn't afford to do that anymore. Promptly, a technician came out and replaced all our glass break sensors, and I haven't had any trouble since then. The technician was very confident and friendly, and courteous, and that was a good experience. Vivint's service is a little expensive, more than ADT, but I remain with them since I don't like to change and I'm certainly satisfied with their coverage and customer support.

Installers left a mess and were unable to finish because I had to have an outlet installed near my front door. Once it was installed, I was unable to get a response from the installer. Have just informed my sales consultant and he said he would talk to the lead tech. All kudos to my consultant. He is knowledgeable and very helpful.

So far we are quite happy with the products and services we have received from Vivint. The app is convenient and easy to use. We especially appreciate that we can activate the system remotely and that we can provide guests with a secure password thus eliminating the need to provide them with keys that inevitable get lost or are forgotten to be returned.

Minimum drilling was done, no damages caused and he ensured that minimum wiring could be seen, he offered suggestions for the best placing of camera and sensors for maximum coverage. Years ago when I lived in a different house, Vivint reps went door to door. They were brand new and wanted to get Vivint in the house in the subdivision I lived in and put a bigger fence sign in my front yard. There were four of us in at different areas of the neighborhood who did the security with them so they were very quick. I had ADT Security Service before but I got rid of them. I had fantastic interactions with Vivint's sales reps and it was one of the reasons why I went ahead with them. They were very personable and very informative. They let me know each step that would happen to the installation and how it could be monitored. They gave me a 1-800 number and information in case I have any issues. Also, they showed me how to use the program.
The installers and the sales reps both worked together wherein the installers were right there within an hour from the person who sold the system to me. That was very quick. At that time, I was a single mom and with children so having Vivint's features was for security and safety. Now I have their basic services and I'm very happy and highly satisfied with their services. I recommended them to a friend.

There were four break-ins up the area above us here and then Vivint came door-to-door. However, at that time, I couldn't afford it since my husband is a dementia patient and I'm taking care of him. After a week, this person from Vivint came back and wanted to talk to me about their service. They offered me all the equipment for $100 of putting it in and then the monthly fee, so we decided to go with it. The interactions with the installation crew were great. They went about their work, explained everything and showed me until I was secure in what I was doing. We have had Vivint's standard security system and it totally changed my husband's dementia as he felt safe in the house. Somebody along the route evidently told my husband we had a situation here that certainly could be used. They did that and he loved it. He was telling me to make sure it was on.
In the spring, when he was getting worse and my panel was acting up, I had Vivint come out to check the whole system. At that time, I asked about the camera and the doorbell in the security they had. Since I knew I was going to be alone, they explained it to me and I had the doorbell with the camera put in. I find it very secure and relaxing to know that it's there. I communicate with Vivint and they're right here for me. Overall, Vivint is great and I'm very satisfied with their service.

We already have Vivint when we bought the house. We have door locks, window security, smoke and carbon monoxide detectors, and even the flood or water sensor downstairs. They redid the system for us and they're excellent. We've had the service guy come out 2-3 times. Overall, Vivint is an awesome company and their customer service is phenomenal. They go out of their way and get out when they can. I would suggest them to anybody. We’re starting a business in town and we will be getting Vivint also.

I have had this for maybe 9 months... not exactly my best move. Switched from MyAlarm cause the products seemed better... which if they were in working order it might be worth the extra $15/month and the extra 4 years contract!!!! However within 5 months the transmitter that helped read my previous alarms equipment went out in the middle of the night and every 30 minute each sensor beeped. So at 5am the system went off and woke up my 2 children so I made a call and went through how to change the batteries and reboot the system. Not a week later the transmitter went down again so I have to get my neighbor who had knee surgery walk down the block and explain the reset... and again a week later while out of town system transmitter again goes down and again EACH TIME this is EVERY 30 MIN all night long... which still applies to my phone app too!
So from MN I have to get my neighbor again with the gimp knee to come meet the tech as the whole point of a security system is to have it on while away so he can come again and fix it! So Vivint decides it's the keypad and replaces the WHOLE keypad which then I cant sign in, so how so I arm and disarm my security system out of town! I call customer service and they tell me for 30 minutes I need to be in front of the keypad. OK thanks. That's great but I am out of town and pay for a security system to protect my home and now I cant sign on to arm it, so then I tell them on the phone how about I use a different email than my original and they were like, "Oh yea that should work." Ummm why should I tell them how to do their job!
So I get home and what happens. It goes down again!!!! And their tech Clint comes out and tells me with all my issues our best idea is to get rid of the transmitter and just use their sensors. Ok but guess who has to pay for it! Yes that's me!!! Clint was great and got 4 sensors approved but I had to pay for others and then decided I would lose the others as I couldnt afford them!!!! So now 5 months later and now my damn camera isnt loading on my phone for the doorbell so by the time it loads the visitor is long gone! I tried to chat online but they dont even have the knowledge to help... I am dreading calling cause I'm sure if it's an issue I will have to pay!

I have had a contract with Vivint for over 4 years now (unfortunately we're locked into a 5 year contract). This company is absolutely the worst with customer service, technical support and withdrawing money from your account with no permission. I have several stories, but most recently they illegally removed $180 from our account (they have our bank account on record for automatic bill pay). They've since acknowledged they should not have removed that money and owe us a refund. They said it would take 2-3 days. It's been 12 days so far and no refund in sight. I've made 2 calls to check on the refund and they continue to tell me "It's coming".
I could make being a customer of Vivint a full-time job so as not to get screwed over by them at every moment. I'm put on hold on their phone line more times than I get to speak to an actual person. (I'm actually writing this review while on hold with them... it's been 13 minutes and counting). I never, ever write reviews of companies, but this company is just too awful and I'm hoping I can save at least one person from using this company. It'll be worth all my hours of wait time on Vivint's "customer service". Please, please, please stay away from Vivint at all costs. There are better companies out there. Vivint has set the bar so low!

Cannot connect to my own system from my front yard. Connecting to the system from my phone takes so long that whoever rung my doorbell is leaving before I can respond even on the panel in the house. Not very impressed. I have been through the entire system trying to fix that and trying to stop the alert from going off every time a bird lands and the wind blows. So in essence it is useless because I shut all alerts off when we go to bed because it goes off all night long.

This company could care less about your loyalty. I've have their service over 2 years. Never once have I been late on any payments. I am moving to a rental where I am unable to continue my service and no exception can be made to waive any cancellation fees due and take back the equipment. Instead, I have to pay off the balance before I can cancel instead of billing the customer like a normal business would do. This causes me to keep my Vivint equipment installed in the home that is being sold to a new owner and where I won't have access to the house to take out the equipment. I won't have the funds until my home is sold and I get money back. This is also unsafe for a security business since I will have complete control over the new homeowner's security system... what a joke.

I think it's great when it works. Every day, I'm having to reboot cameras multiple times per day to get 2 of the 4 cameras to connect. It's pointless to have cameras if I can't view anything particularly when it's both outdoors cameras. Is this a simple fix?

I was supposed to receive an Alexia via mail and have not received it. We have had the system for about two weeks and reason we made the purchase was because of Alexia. And every time we let the garage up the alarm goes off. Let us know when to expect the Alexia and a tech to fix garage problem.

Security system as a whole is good and easy to use. My only complaint is with the doorbell camera, either it picks up everything like cars driving past or if I turn down the sensitivity at all it doesn't hardly record anything at all. That is the only negative everything else has been positive.

We bought a house that already had Vivint and we had the basic package that included the temperature, security, and glass break. The previous owners paid for us to have Vivint for a couple of months and for a week, I worked it out with them too. They are not a good company that I will ever work with again and the only reason that I got their service is because my husband is in the military. He's gone more times than he's home and our front door leads into our stairway. Our children are upstairs and we are downstairs. It made me feel safer to know that we had a security system. But I had zero satisfaction in the three years that we had Vivint. Every time I called, they promised they can do something about my concerns, but they never do.
We recently moved and I have called them eight times since May trying to put our service on hold or transferred. We've been paying service since May for the new owners and four phone calls were made trying to get the service put in their name. On my eighth phone call, I was on the phone for two hours and they had no record of the previous seven calls or the current owners. I finally talked to somebody who promised me that this was over and done with, but I don't trust that. I've also spent the last couple of months trying to convince the new owners to say they don't want Vivint, but they don't listen.

While everything was pretty standard, it was easy to work and get through with Vivint and they’re very reasonable. Their reps and installers were good as well as the service.

Signed up for this service on July 15, 2017. The installation was a nightmare as the cameras did not function properly. They had to boost the wireless (their outmoded software that you have no control over is only 2.4 GHz) and this still did not work as the main attraction for us was the motion detection cameras especially at night. We sent a cancellation on July 18th and have done so ever since the original installation. Their contract has two sections where you can cancel the "agreement within 30 days and also within 3 days." We have done so on each count and still get the resistance that we either have to buy out the contract (that's about $4,600 including the shoddy equipment) or sell it and the contract off to someone else! If the cameras do not function properly, why would you want the system and why would you sell it off to someone else?
We have been given the run around (hung-up on and/or no one gives us their full names) from several people in their Provo Utah office and within emails that are archived and exhibits the dates and times of requesting "agreement to be cancelled." This appears to be a classic "we got you" scheme and from observing many other disgruntled customers online, a company that does not live up to the product they attest to. We will more than likely have no choice but to take legal action to abort this horrible experience and will move on to another security system that is a more honest and reliable provider.
Take heed everyone and do not use Vivint! Investigate before you invest with this company! The person who sold this bad experience to us was Travis **, who in the end was not honest with us, Emma ** and Courtney in Utah who passed the buck, Adam ** in Utah who has not responded to our emails, someone named Kyle, two men who hung-up on us, two men who tried to install/fix these low-rate cameras (some one named Manny and Alex **), and Gustav who gave us the same story about buying the contract out or selling it to someone else! I would not give this system to my worst enemy.

Experience so far was a 4 star rating, due to approx 4 days trying to get a correction in install address with customer service. The installation guy (Ralph **) was very professional. The system is very modern, in my opinion. When I open the app, I get a not connected to wifi alert.

There were young guys that were here for the summer from college going door-to-door and selling Vivint. They were very nice, very good, and polite. Then they had an installation tech come to our home and set it up. Five of our friends on our street got it as well. However, when the battery died on the main thing, we had to get the battery ourselves. Other than that, I love the idea that I can check on it with my phone when I'm away, and that we really like the security.

Our friend has Vivint and she recommended it. And when we got the house we purchased the cameras and the alarm. We did everything with the sales rep over the phone. The guy was really nice and he asked what we needed. Also the installer did a really good job. He explained what he was doing and how they're gonna work. We've been using the system for six months and everything is good. I can check the app and cameras over the phone and every time that we have any alarm they call and they respond quickly. Our Vivint system gives us a peace of mind like if we are out and something happens. We really like it.

My sister had gotten the securities at Vivint and we were worried because our mother was quite elderly and fat. I got the very basic package because I can't afford to have more than that. The installation team was on time and they were excellent. They explained things to me and everything has been cleaned when they had gone. But, when I initiated the service I was very upset to find out later that the sales rep was charging me the highest price. Because when one of their sales reps came to the door there and he was offering a lower price, I was told that they had a range that they could offer people. But the sales rep I had offered over-range and was going to get a commission off of it. I was not happy because he was aware that I have lower income and living in a mobile and that he had told me the highest price.
I was happy with my experience otherwise. It has been good except for the issue that I had when they agreed to lower the monthly cost. When my contract ran out, I spoke around with other companies and I explained the situation to Vivint then they offered to drop my rate. We had a little bit of a problem but it was more technical with them not putting the right information in. They kept charging me the old price and it took a few months to get that noted. I reminded them that they were breaching the contract by charging me the old price so they agreed to a new price and they refunded some of the money back. Other than that, the service itself is good and I'm very satisfied with it.

I felt like Vivint had the latest technology and I always like to have the latest one so I went with them. I bought a package that included the camera, the doorbell camera, the thermostat, and motion window sensor kept indoor, outdoor. The installation team was very professional and good. Vivint had a big push towards Louisiana and they had people going door to door and trying to get everybody signed up when we started with them. Our service package includes the sensors, cameras, doorbell cameras, and the system works well. But we had issues with some of it and we had to call to get somebody to come out and replace the sensors and get it fixed. The technicians who came out were great.
We had an issue with the doorbell a couple of weeks right into it because it wasn't close enough to the panel and so it wasn't reading. When we called and set up a technician, they said that there's going to be a service fee even though we just had it for two weeks at that time. Usually, we've been able to get them removed but when we first call, they're always trying to charge us for something every time.
Then these plastic prongs that hold doorbell broke off and the camera wouldn't stay attached, and then they had moved the camera from the front to the back because they had to have it closer to the panel. Once again, they said that they were going to charge me a service fee of $79. However, when my wife called back, they said that was still under warranty for at least a year since they just installed it less than a month ago. So nobody there that has a clue what warranty is under anything when you call them. But other than that, everything’s pretty good.

Horrible! Horrible! Horrible! I have had the system for less than a month and already had techs out twice to resolve installation issues. In regards to the second visit, a tech was at just at my home. It hasn't even been an hour since he left and I'm already having issues. Now I have to wait 40 minutes for him to return and god knows how long it will take to correct this new issue. There goes my plans for my day. Although The equipment is very good it's not worth the hassles of dealing with multiple customer service reps and having to forego plans to wait for techs to fix installation errors!

My wife and I recently purchased our first home in Baltimore, Maryland. As we approached closing our real estate agent let us know that the sellers had a Vivint Smart Home Security System installed. They asked us if we'd like to keep the system otherwise they would take it with them. I did some research and called a representative from the moves department. He was very nice, explained that this is would be a takeover and it would only cost $99 but that he would waive the fee since we will likely be extending the contract. We scheduled an appointment for Saturday, June 3rd from 11am 2pm.
On June 3rd I received a call at 11:36am from the technician Anwar who told me that he would be arriving within 30 minutes. I confirmed and waited. At 1:30pm I called customer support and spoke with Andrew **, who contacted the technician and they told me that he got sick and had to go home unexpectedly. He offered me a $25 credit to my account for my inconvenience and scheduled another appointment for June 14th between 8am and 11am.
As my wife and I were getting ready to leave the house around 3:30pm the technician called and said he was outside. I was honestly alarmed and thought it might be a hoax. The technician came in, explained that indeed he was sick, ate something bad, but now he is feeling better. I asked him why he didnt call to let me know. He apologized and continued with the appointment.
He explained that our Sky Panel was outdated and needed to be updated to work properly with the new cameras. I asked if it was going to be an extra charge and he said no. He took one of our old cameras and gave us a new one. He said if he had 3 new cameras in his truck he would have given us them but he only had one. He also said that the next time a tech comes out they will give us updated cameras. He also installed the garage door sensor as well. We were in a hurry to catch our train back to New York since it was around 5pm by this point, so we ended in a rush. He called customer support to have us pay just for our first months bill $57.
A couple of weeks later I received a phone call from a Vivint representative saying that they were about to charge my credit card $1,088 for the new sky panel. I was shocked. I explained to them that this was a take-over and we were told numerous times that we werent to be charged. She reviewed the notes, saw everything I had mentioned, apologized for the misunderstanding and said it was taken care of. A few days after that I received another call from a different Vivint representative saying that they were about to charge my credit card $1,088. Now my frustration became a genuine concern. How disorganized is this company? I explained once again the situation. The rep apologized and assured me that it was taken care of and that I shouldnt worry about it.
On July 4th, my credit card was charged $1,088. I was beside myself. I called customer support and spoke with Erin; **. She told me that there's nothing that she could do, she didnt see any notes about anyone offering me the sky panel for free. She said she could reduce the price to $380. I asked to speak with her supervisor. She said that Jeff will call me back within the hour. Jeff never called.
I called back 4 hours later and spoke with David; **. Out of all of the people that I spoke with in the past 5-weeks David was by far the worst. David told me that he has no idea why anyone would have told me that the sky panel was free and that I was lucky that someone said that. He said, the best he could do was request a refund for $972. I asked him what the remaining $116 difference between the $1,088 and $972 was for? He said it was for 2 months of service. I looked at my statement and I told him that I had already been charged for June and it was July 4th so why was I being charged for August already? He said, "Oh that's my mistake. That was for something else." He told me that $972 was the most they would refund me and that nothing else will be approved.
He then told me that I should follow up on Monday 7/10 to make sure it actually goes through. On Monday, 7/10 I called and spoke with Danny; **. I explained the situation and he reviewed the notes. He apologized and told me that no refund had been initiated. He then said that, "Yes, of course, you should be receiving a full refund of $1,032.97." He attempted to get me over to a supervisor but none were available at that time. He then recommended that I write a letter to the corporate office to explain what Ive been through.
Clearly, this has been an extremely frustrating and disappointing ordeal. The biggest concern for me is that I am trusting Vivint with my security and more importantly with my family's security. This experience has made me lose my trust in Vivint. I have felt like I am dealing with a bipolar company that doesnt communicate internally, tells me one thing and does the exact opposite. Depending on what happens in the next week I am planning on canceling the service altogether.

Great customer service, but the tech has been to my house two times already for camera issues. Camera 2 never worked since it been installed. There were 3 installers and still no camera. The tech does come right away when I call, but he also beings 3 other techs as well. With that many techs I would think the camera would work.

All cameras including doorbell is not accurate on detecting a visitor. Either sometimes missing a visitor or sometimes if it's cloudy or shady it's recognizing transition of the sun and shade as detection which ends up hundreds of notifications during the day. But at night it's more accurate.

The Vivint sales rep was really helpful and I got the alarm work for all the doors. The installers were awesome too. They were on time and very professional and courteous. I already had the product installed before at another house in Edmonton and I had no issues with it. I'd like to have some of the other options but because of the added monthly fee, it just isn't worth it. But overall, Vivint has great service. Any time I set the alarm off by myself it contacts me right away.

A salesman from Vivint Security came to the door and I had seen one of my neighbors had it already so I knew about them. I bought the alarm system, the fire alert, and the carbon monoxide detector. The sales reps have been awesome and knowledgeable. I have always been able to get my questions answered. And I had some trouble with the battery that I couldn’t replace immediately. I was working night shift and the thing wouldn’t stop beeping. And I had a little trouble getting through to a person. But other than that, everything has been really good. I replaced the battery and it's back up again now, but I had to have it disabled for a few days.
Sometimes I'll be at work and realized that I've forgotten to set my system, and I can do it from work. It's one of the features that I like best. I had a near break in and I wasn’t sure if my garage sensor was working. So, I tried it myself one day and, sure enough, it works. I set the alarm off, but fortunately, I didn’t get charged anything for that. Vivint called me right away and I explained that I had accidentally set it off myself. Overall, it has been extremely reliable. I'm really pleased with Vivint. I have told friends that if they're ever thinking of getting a security system, it's really worth it to have Vivint.

A guy from Vivint came to our door and he was very good. Our neighbors have Vivint and that helped us decide to go with Vivint as well. We purchased two Cameras from Vivint and its features were handy. It was nice to have a camera that we could move around and check things out better. My interactions with the installation team were very good. They had to come out twice since the installation to service the camera one time, and then they had to service the pad another time. We saw some new main pads. It would be nice to have a newer pad. We recommended Vivint quite a few times. Overall experience with Vivint went very well. They were very professional and very friendly.

I have fire and smoke alarm, pass alarm and wind glass breakage with my Vivint service package. Their sales rep was excellent and their installation team was all right. But the system is inoperative right now and it has been out for a week. I wish they’d get the thing working. I feel very dissatisfied and I can't believe it's taken this long to get the thing fixed.

When we moved into our home, the first thing that we called was the alarm company. Then Vivint came out, messed up and put things in different places. Upon installation, it was clear that the technician didn't know what he was doing. He installed my glass break literally three inches from the air vents. I had no clue and in the middle of the night, when the air or heat kicked on, the sensor thought the glass was breaking. The police came to my house at midnight and that had always been fun.
The installer also put several holes in the wall and he had to cut a hole to put the thermostat in, but he did it roughly since he thought there would be a plate to go over it and it was not going to be seen anyway so it wouldn't matter. But there wasn't a plate and then he tried to put multiple layers of white duct tape over it to cover it up. He botched the job but Vivint did give me really nice $250 door locks for all three of my doors, but I had to fight for it.
Then last December, I got a letter in the mail saying that the cell towers we were using were old, and because my alarm hadn't been changed for five years, it would no longer work. I told them if they wanted a continued service, then they needed to come out here and fix it. They're the ones changing towers so why would I need to pay the upgrade if I'm paying $50 a month for nothing? Apparently, all they had to do was put a chip in but the lady said I would be better off if I switched to the new panel because the new panel would actually lower my bills. A lot of the things that I had in my plan five years ago were now standard, even though no one had called to tell me that two years ago when it started.
I called and asked for an appointment schedule, and I picked for someone to come out between the hours of 3:00 and 5:00. I was at school but I had taken an early day and I was going to get off at 2:30 and drive home. However, the guy finished his job at 12:00 while I was teaching and he texted me that he needed to come on over to my house right then but I told him that's not how it works. He said, "Unfortunately, there's cancellation in front of you, so I need to come to your house now. Otherwise, just call and reschedule." Later, I was told that was not how that was supposed to be handled, that they could never guarantee anything in the afternoon, but that he should have honored my time. But that was when I had finally gotten a hold of Vivint and that took forever.
Two months later, I finally got someone out to the house to get it straight. They got the unit installed and everything's been great. However, I was supposed to be starting the charge in February but when I looked at my bill, I got charged more when it should have been $20 cheaper. The next month, I got charged more again. For four months, I had to call them to refund me until it was fixed and I ended up getting a $100 reimbursement. But I was furious because it was ridiculous.
I had even called ahead of time to make sure I wasn't going to get billed incorrectly and they told me that everything was taken care of, but on the next month, it happened again. Apparently, the person didn't put it through all the way and they said they would send me a credit for all of those months. But I was already being credited month by month by month because it kept happening every month. The lady said she couldn't see how I could tell I've been credit even though I had already gotten my money back.
There were significant communication issues between the billing department and customer service and it was an absolute nightmare. I had to spend so much time on the phone trying to fix all of that and I asked them how they were going to compensate me. Their solution was they would give me $5 off the month for four months. They actually had my money over different time periods and they should have owed me $20 for each time they had taken out $20. They should have gone above and beyond to make it better because I have been a customer for six years. I didn't even call. They called me about the alarm not working. Other than that, I had not asked for anything. I didn't call asking for new rates or for them to lower my bill. I just paid my bill and did what I was supposed to do. I told them if that was the way I was going to be treated, I could find someone else more willing to serve me locally.
What was frustrating about it is this. The very first time, they made up for it in $707 worth of door locks that I got for free because the issue involved physical holes on my house but when I had to spend hours away from my wife or my children because I had to call them to fix their mistake, they didn't seem to care as much. To me, it was really disappointing that somebody couldn't do that right the first time. All they probably had to do was press the button and set the billing and then, boom, it should all be done. When they couldn't push that button right, how do I know they're going to push the button to call the police when I need someone to come to my house? It was very frustrating to work really hard and spend your money to protect your family and then have the people who are supposedly protecting your family break that trust.
I just got lucky for five years that nobody broke into my house. Otherwise, somebody was going to have to be accountable for what they did. So my experience with Vivint was not great and we're actually in the process of looking for someone else now. All that time, they didn't try to really care to do anything to make it right. I've had issues on everything, from the people who came into my house on multiple occasions to the customer service and the billing. It was concerning and beyond the point where people would be willing to go. The problem was that the system was already installed, but if it wasn't for me being busy, I would have already moved on much sooner. I would tell others to go with Vivint if they don't mind wasting money.

Very surprised to find Vivint is rated #11. I believe we over paid and signed up for too long a time. Then we were shocked that someone called and tried to sell us a warranty contract for $6.99 a month. We didn't do our homework so we think we could have got something better for less money and a shorter period of time than 5 years.

My installation is still incomplete despite multiple calls to schedule service. My home therefore remains vulnerable to intruders. Very dissatisfied with the company and process to rectify situation. There is zero accountability. I have reached out to the account manager on several occasions, with the promise that prompt service would be provided. So far, all that has occurred is lip service minus action.

Vivint salesmen were good and knowledgeable. They came by and checked. Since my husband was home, he decided to give it a shot. For somebody to get my husband to go for something, they really have to know what they’re talking about. The installation team was quick about everything. They were helpful because they stop by when we had to call them and reeducate us. You forget when you don’t use it all the time. The package we got just have the door alarms. We’d get the one that contacts your phone and tells if a door is open. It’s good to know the alarm is there and to have your sign upfront. The alarm is fine and it’s better if we actually use them. I’m retired and my husband’s semi-retired so somebody is usually home, there is no reason to turn it on. I think it’s good to have an alarm even if it’s just a deterrent for people when they see the sign on your gate so they won’t go in there.

One of Vivint's reps came to the door and sold me the system. The experience with him was good and I changed over. I went with them because their system works. I also have a few features I wanted that I never had before. I got the glass shatter, one detector and the CO2 detector. They sounded like good things to have. The installation team was good. They're fast, efficient and made sure all things are okay with me. I've had a few alarms and it was only a few seconds when somebody was on the phone, so they had a quick response time. When the CO2 detector was beeping, a little squeak comes out of it every time. Vivint came in and changed that for me, although it's beeping again now. I also had a problem with the sensors on the door but they came and talked to me about it. Overall, my experience with Vivint has always been pleasant and problem-free.

The sales representative was a good guy and I liked him. We have the garage door, garage panels, motion sensors, camera, doorbell, and the doors included in my service package. Those are the same features I had with another company before. We've had a good service and a good warranty when we had something go wrong and that was replaced. However, a friend of mine initially recommended Vivint and Vivint said that upon the recommendation, they would give both of us a free month, but they didn't follow through on that. I called them once and the rep said they would do that but they didn't. I've been with them for over a year now so I doubt that that will happen now. But for the most part, it's been a positive experience.

Worst customer service ever? Never deal with this company, they won't let you out of your contract. I had to sign for 6 years and had problems from day one with faulty inept installation technicians, false alarms, faulty products and ridiculous hold times when you have to call the customer service center. I fussed and fussed and they do not care. Tried to get out of the contract after complaining and complaining and still have over a year to pay them on my 6 year contract. Speaking to managers and supervisors does not help, they do not care. They do not listen to "recordings to ensure quality."
I will tell everyone about this company and would never recommend them. They are a total scam and ripoff to not let you out of your contract when you have problem after problem because of their company and technicians. I hate that I have over a year to keep paying them!!! Do not deal with this expensive ripoff company, get a wireless system for less than half of what I pay now. They are horrible.

The customer service is very stressful for the customer. They tell you one thing and never do what they say. You have to go to many people to get issues resolve and you can never get back to the same person, even if you gives his or her badge number. Just unacceptable. Was never able to connect to my thermostat. Was paying almost $500 a month to cool a vacant house because I could never get this to work. Called half a dozen times, was always transferred multiple times, and then when I tried to cancel in the 14 window they provided they tried to say I wasn't eligible. Ended up canceling service. Changing door codes was an awesome feature though.

Kelly, our office manager, has a Vivint home unit and we decided to bring Vivint to the business as well. We have security cameras inside and outside, and on phones as well. The sales representative was very helpful and knowledgeable while the installation team provided excellent service. Vivint has really good customer service and really great technicians. There have been two incidences where we've required service, but other than that, it's been good and we're satisfied with the service so far. Vivint has been pleasant and friendly.

I've got motion detectors and entry security from Vivint, and I was fine with them before, except that I never really had to use the service. Then when I had to use them and upgrade things, people wouldn't show up. They make appointments but they don’t call or show up. It went on for almost two months. It was ridiculous. The whole frustrating thing was that my touch panel never really worked for me. I would have to recalibrate it but that would only last for 10 seconds and then it would go back to being an issue again. It was very annoying. Sometimes, I couldn't release the alarm in time or I‘d miss it altogether yet Vivint would have just called. The police even came to the door and I was very embarrassed. But that was just a one-time thing. The point was there was always an issue and we had been trying to get that fixed.
However, it got to the point where I was re-resetting my alarm and so I was paying a monthly service for nothing. I had called several times and what I had to do to finally get it fixed was to tweet how unhappy I was with Vivint, and suddenly, customer service was right on top of it. They cared about their bottom line and I cared about paying for a service that I haven't been getting for months. I was wasting $50-ish a month but it was my choice not to set my alarm so I wasn't asking for my money back. I should have cancelled but life gets busy and when I wanted to, then they tried to keep me.
When I finally got a hold of somebody, he tried to sell me on the new pad. But the only time anybody ever told me about this new thing was when I wanted to cancel the service. The guy convinced me that the issues were all going to be resolved. I said okay because I already had the service. However, they kept making appointments but they wouldn't call or show up. This went on for almost two months and it was ridiculous. This was also after I had signed up for the five-year contract and they were not holding up their end of the deal. They had varied reasons. One time, it was because they didn't have the right equipment, which meant that even though those appointments were made two weeks ahead of time, they were not prepared and they didn't even bother calling me so that's a double whammy. Plus, I only found that out because I called Vivint wondering what the heck was going on and why nobody showed up.
That was one situation and we had a couple more times in a row when somebody didn't come out. When someone finally came out to fix the panels, he only had one, even though I had told them I've got the main panel down in the entryway into the kitchen and one up in the bedroom and I'd like to get them both changed out. It seemed ridiculous that they couldn't figure out what kind of equipment I needed for two months and I had to schedule yet again with somebody. I made an appointment but somehow, something got mixed up. He came in on a different day and fortunately, I was there. I had him come in and do it, but it could have been another annoying thing. I don't know who is running the show with their texts, but if I was to check and get run around like that, I would get pissed. If the tech was actually doing it, then that's their own fault, but they had always blamed it on somebody else and nobody takes ownership.
My confidence in them to actually be able to help me when I needed them, which is a serious thing, was low. I'm grateful I have two dogs, although I think the alarm will go off and that alarm is freaking loud. I also know they'd done stuff and maybe there's a lawsuit in it for them if they don't do their jobs. But everything has been better now. I've had the new panel and it's a nicer one but I wasn't that happy with it and I've got normal-sized fingers so they don't have an issue. The panel has been working out, but I would've still wanted the one up in the bedroom to be fixed.

I was told by the Representative I would get 4 lighting controls and Alexa. They ran out of Alexa and the lighting controls I was only given 2. The installer promised he would come by on Saturday, Aug 5th. He did not show up nor did he call. I called the rep twice and was promised again I would get Alexa and he'd call to let me know the status, I have not heard from him either.
My bank account was charged the 68.00 and 21.00, as stated. This is very disappointing because I had Vivint in the past and I thought they were trustworthy. I cannot act in good faith and recommend Vivint to anyone when I am experiencing service such as this. I hope this situation can be remedied quickly as I am very dissatisfied at this point.

I contacted Vivint customer service several months back... I have had Vivint for several years and have had no problems... Anyway I called because my camera stopped working, I did all of the tests and spoke to a rep. who walked me back through the steps and confirmed my camera was not working properly. She didn't sound as if she really knew what she was doing. I also had a carbon monoxide detector go out, instead of shipping them to me for me to replace... they are not that hard... I had to set up a time to meet with a tech. When the tech arrived he replaced the detector, but said there was nothing on the work order about a camera and he even checked the camera and confirmed that it was not working.
He advised to contact customer service and have them ship me a new one. I did and they advised that there was nothing in the notes reference a camera and would need me to contact a tech so they could walk me through the steps to make sure it wasn't working properly... I ALREADY KNOW IT DOESN'T WORK!! So I just let it go... Last week a sales rep stops by and I asked him about the camera and he confirmed that the camera is not working and advised to call customer service and they would warranty the camera and ship a new one for me to replace.
I found it was easier to go through chat on the Vivint site rather than stay on hold forever. I chatted with a rep and advised her of the problem and she advised that there was nothing in the tech's notes reference a camera and that I would need to call in so that another tech could walk me through the steps to verify that it was not working properly. SEND ME A CAMERA, NOT MY FAULT YOUR TECHS DO NOT MAKE NOTES. I am paying for something that a tech, a salesman and I have confirmed is not working!!! SMH, TIME TO LOOK FOR SOMETHING DIFFERENT!!

I deal with a lot of sensitive materials and I needed to have protection for my clients’ information. The Vivint sales representative that I called was very professional, well-spoken, made me feel comfortable and took care of me in a manner that I felt that he actually cared about me and my business and that he wasn’t just trying to make money off of me. Then, the day they came to my business to install, the installer was clean-cut, very professional, cared about how the wires looked on my wall and did whatever he could to make the wires not show as bad as they could have. He also cleaned up his mess and showed me how to use all the systems. I was really impressed and the system tells me when the door opens and closes. Also, I like how each employee has their own pin code to get in and out so I can track who comes in and out and when. The price point is amazing and the service is awesome. They're the best.

There was a representative from Vivint in the neighborhood and I got the regular alarm system connected to the Fire Department. My previous alarm had the same features but it needs a landline in order for everything to run smoothly and this one doesn’t. The sales rep was very positive and gave me a lot of details such as what the alarm company is and the features that they offer. The installers connected everything quickly.
There was a time when I opened the bedroom door to see smoke everywhere in my house but the smoke alarm never went off. They came and fixed that but I was charged for that. When they tried to fix it the first time, it didn't work and there were still issues. When they came back out for the second time, I wasn't charged. However, with my previous alarm company, whenever there was a maintenance issue, you didn't have to pay every single time they came. And with Vivint, every time somebody comes out, you have to pay them for something. Hopefully, they can fix that or lower the rate that they charge for when people come out. But besides that, Vivint is a great company and I have recommended them to other people.

This is absolutely the worst experience with a business I have ever had in my whole life! I have spent several hours on the phone with all departments when trying to move my service. I have been a customer for 8 years. To start they would not accommodate evenings or weekend set up. When I tried to remove the main unit I had found a 6-inch hole they had punched through my wall for a tiny wire they ran behind it. I was moving out and was embarrassed for the new home owner so I left it covering the hole. Vivint wanted 600.00 if I didn't bring the unit with me to the new home. I explained the situation and they offered to charge me 300.00 instead. They damaged my home installing this but didn't seem to care.
I then talked to Logan the supervisor. He would not help me either. He said I could cancel my service and that I was on month to month for no charge. I asked him where the logic was in a no charge cancel but to charge me to keep my business. Again did not care. I agreed to cancel. He sent me the info on how to do this. I sent the cancel and received a confirmation email and a call from their loyalty department. I explained my reason and let them know that all of my calls were recorded if they wanted to confirm what Logan had told me.
I have had other rude calls from Vivint from other loyalty reps borderline harassment. I have asked for Logan to call me back without success. Well I am still being charged my monthly fees for the last 2 months even though I have a confirmation email say I canceled my service. I strongly suggest you stay away from this company as they don't care at all how their employees treat great customers!!!

We purchased a home and I wanted to make sure that my home is secure and my family is safe. We got the security system and the thermostat from Vivint. I told them I had a two-level home and I needed two units of the thermostats to cover all of them. They were supposed to be part of the package and the sales rep and the technician told me this. However, the technician didn't have all the equipment and he was supposed to come back. Other than that, that technician who installed the system was amazing.
The guy who did the follow-up was very respectful and nice too. However, they told me I had to pay almost $600 for the thermostat they added. So they put it on my contract, but never installed it and then they wanted me to pay additional to get it and I didn’t want to do that. Then they said they would do half off but I didn’t want to go through all that. I also had a bad experience with one of the representatives by phone. We were trying to sort out the whole situation and the rep was very rude. Also, the internet will sometimes act up and mess with the system too, but they were able to help us with that. It's been a good experience besides the one incident with the thermostat and I've referred two people who got Vivint installed in their homes.

Can never get should of anyone to get problems resolved! During install didn't take off old security system to put in New. Just put it right next to it. Wanted a camera but did not want to wire it through the attic. Have had no problem with other companies wiring thing through attic. No camera installed.

I purchased a service package from Vivint that included the doorbell camera, the Ping camera, about three motion detectors, a few window sensors, glass break sensor and the smoke detector. Those were neat features. My daughter is getting a little bit older and those features were to have a little bit more security in case my daughter stays at home. I had a different security system before and I had it for quite a while so it was not as advanced. So far, the service has been very good. I had an issue with one of the motion detectors going off so I talked with the sales rep again and he was very helpful. The installation guys were great too. The equipment has worked really well and all of the representatives I’ve worked with have answered all the questions.

I have been a customer for 9 months. I called them today because my cameras only record for 20 seconds. To upgrade I would have to purchase equipment, I could have got a monkey when it was installed but the representative told me a indoor camera would do me better. He failed to tell me the monkey would record constantly. I also got locked out of my house because of them putting dead batteries in my door lock, I also had to have them remove my thermostat because it did not work right with my heat pump. The representative that removed it told me they put the wrong one in for a heat pump they have a better one, when my contract is up don't expect me to renew. Why would I with the customer service that I have received. I also will not recommend them to anyone else.
I have never ever written a bad review on any company I have written good reviews, and I am an older person, but the people that they send to install your equipment do not know what they are doing because they are not properly trained. I don't blame them. I blame the company. All they told me this morning there is nothing they can do to help me. Maybe they can change policy so it will help future customers, is what they told me. Really they should have something to help current customers.
They will not let you upgrade until you are 3 months away from contract renewal, so they are willing to lose over 1000 year for not telling how many years for a 250 fee to upgrade. I hope that it is worth it to them to lose 1000 a year for no telling how many years. For a measly 250.00 I would not recommend this company to anyone. People please research reviews on companies before you sign up. That is my fault for not doing that. Believe me. I won't make that mistake again.

I am a brand new customer and had a very positive introduction to the system and an extremely negative experience with installation and technical support. After promises that VIVINT would work with my existing system, it took 8 attempts to get my system working at 90%. On the original installation, technicians took until 1 am to set up the system, neglected to set up 3 sensors, and gave very poor instructions on the alarm system.
On the second attempt, they claimed all 3 sensors were working but, in trust, 2 sensors were set up. One of the 2 sensors triggered false alarms for which I received a warning letter from the city. On the third attempt, the sales agent assigned the motion sensor to my old window break sensor which they removed later but left the connection in the system. This set off continuous trigger notices because the window break sensor was removed.
On the fourth attempt, through a technical service call, was to fix the motion sensor which was never connected in the system. It was said to be working but, indeed, was not. Attempts #5, 6 and 7 were through VIVINT phone technicians which took hours as we were disconnected twice. I never received a return call and had to start all over with a new technician each time.
Finally (#8), my alarm system somehow became un-registered which VIVNIT could no longer see remotely nor was my phone app able to function. I had to schedule yet another service call, causing me to leave work early for the 3rd time. The technician was able to get the system re-registered and installed a new motion sensor. When testing the sensor, it only worked intermittently. This is where I stand today with a brand new security monitoring system. I'm very displeased with the service, I will no longer recommend VIVINT, and I will discourage others from getting your service unless I see major changes. Thank you.

I recently took a trip to Minnesota. I was able to access my home security via my Smart Phone. It was so easy, and the satisfaction that my home was safe and secure was so very comforting that I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a security system that offers these things, when you are away from your home for any amount of time.

Technician didn't show up. I still can't use my phone. They still haven't install my camera yet. Can't use my alarm when I leave home bc my phone doesn't connect with the system and nobody has been able to help me. I have called several times and still have no help.

Our Vivint system is pretty comprehensive and everything is alarmed. That includes every window, room and entranceway. The package was cost-effective given what they were outlining and it just made sense for us to get that one. The way they do things is we got a certain number of points and then we could pick what we wanted. However, we had some wrinkles with the first sales rep. He was very young and a little too promising, and a little misrepresentation happened. Then when the installers came, they told us they couldn't do what the sales rep had said. Then, there were a couple of things that the installers couldn't do either, and they had to have someone else come. It was pretty bumpy at first, but we got over that and we've been very satisfied with the service.
We had to transfer service from one residence to another and they've been very helpful. We did most of the uninstalling in our old house but then one guy came and he did everything and did it great. He came and helped us settle up in the new house. Part of the problem we had with the initial install was that the guys didn't know how to screw things into plaster walls and they were only used to sheetrock walls. But this house is all sheetrock so it was easier, but the guy also seemed a lot more capable. All in all, everything has been good. Vivint has responded whenever I had a phone call. If there was an issue, they took care of it and I can't ask for more than that. Problems are going to come up but as long as the company listens and tries to rectify it, that's all we can hope for. I would recommend Vivint. They've been responsive and professional.

We had ADT many years ago and we were not satisfied. We were looking for an upgrade then one of the Vivint reps came to our house soliciting for new business. It was very intriguing and that was the perfect opportunity for us to get a Vivint service. The person who came here was extremely knowledgeable and walked us through from beginning to end and beyond. After we finished our initial consultation and purchase, he went ahead and tried to keep in touch with us to check how we're doing and if we needed extra service. We really appreciated that.
The installation team was superb as well. They were on time and the only caveat there is we wish they had more time to explain the system. But with the power of internet and social media, we can always reach them. We have the basic stuff, the camera in the front for the doorbell and an Alexa app for that little tower thing. So far, Vivint has been excellent and I recommended them to my neighbors. Keep up the good work Vivint, and more power.

Elmira needs security in her home and decided to go with Vivint. It's a great system. The service and the products have been excellent. She has three cameras and the home smart system. Vivint's sales reps offered everything we needed. The installer was courteous. I thought he could have been a little bit more professional and knowledgeable, but after he laid everything in, the next guy that came out was amazing. He put in the back door camera and he just took it upon himself not to just install the backdoor camera, but he rechecked the entire system to make sure it was completely functioning properly.
He was really knowledgeable and very professional. He explained to us how everything worked with the one exception. I wanted to ask, let's say we're all sleeping and someone comes in, how do we hit the panic from the app on our mobile phones? I have had nothing but great experience with Vivint. I wish they offered a little bit more in terms of products and technology. Other than that, they've been great.

I have only had my alarm system for 14 days and out of those 14 days it had only worked maybe 6. I have had to have it serviced 3 times and have them replace my panel. Each time taking me away from my job for hours at a time to get it fixed. We got a system at a time in my family's life when we need extra protection and not having it work when you expect it to is such a letdown. The application is so slow that if something were to happen I couldn't even see it until the damage is already done. Very disappointed and I would not recommend this system to anyone!!!

The sales rep I had was very pushy and strong and would not take no for an answer. I decided to give in after he came to my house for the 3rd time. I was really interested in the door bell camera but I already have my own security system. He offered to pay my first month of my service and have techs do side jobs to install my own cameras I had not put up yet for 50.00 each. So I agreed. Then I was hit with an equipment charge of 800.00 or around that and he failed to mention that part.
After installation was done he went back on his word and did not have my cameras installed because he wouldn't make money off it. I had neighbors who also stated he was very pushy. My sister lives down the street in another division and she had the same problem with his pushy ways. My door bell camera went offline and I had My husband contact him and instead of sending someone out to fix it right away he questioned and questioned til we requested someone come fix it and we also noticed a scratch on the doorbell device and he said that was a warranty problem. I hesitated to enroll with a security company because of this. Now I am stuck with a scratched door bell camera and no cameras of my own installed like agreed and with a equipment charge. I should of just told him to get lost.

I have been a victim of Vivint unprofessional conduct, this company has relied a contract with me that they would not fulfill. This company promised to pay off the alarm company I previously had for switching to Vivint but after two days they called and confirmed that they would not pay off the other alarm company. My advice to everyone would be not to go with this company. This company also wants you to take out a loan to get their equipment for the alarm system. Not good!!!

I signed up for home security service with Vivint back in December. Since installing, I've had nothing but problems with Vivint. Problem #1: My installer, Nick, was a very nice guy, but did a VERY sloppy job with installation. He left wires exposed (when he told me that he wouldn't), he screwed things in places very sloppily and crooked, and did not install everything that I was promised (a Vivint sign with light, garage door sensor). VIVINT'S REMEDY: Due to this poor installation, Cindy, a nice lady from their Online Reputation Department reached out to me after I left a review for them with Consumer Affairs and offered me a $10 discount (for 2 months), bringing my bill down to $50.99 temporarily.
Problem #2: After the 2 months I checked my bill for the following month and I had been charged $61.31. The amount I signed the contract for was a monthly charge of $60.99. I call Vivint, just to find out what the few cent extra charge was for. It was not the AMOUNT of the extra charge, it was the principle. They had charged my account more than what was agreed upon without my knowledge. I got the runaround. Being transferred to 3 people. Finally, the 3rd person tells me "you got charged extra because you got discounted for 2 months and I had to pay the discount back over the length of my contract." EXCUSE ME? You give me poor service, discount me for it, and then now I have to pay it back??? Does that seem like stellar customer service to you... or even honest, for that matter?
VIVINT'S REMEDY: I contact Cindy again (via email so I have proof of our conversations), and she tells me something completely different than the 3rd customer service rep that I spoke with. She tells me that I was charged the extra few cents because of a tax increase not set by Vivint. She didn't tell me what "tax" was being increased, but just that it was increased and it could do so again at any point of my contract. Definitely not something I signed up for.
Problem #3: I get busy and haven't checked my online statement for a few months, thinking that my $61.31 is what will be charged on a monthly basis from now on. 4 months later, I check and I'm DUMBFOUNDED! Every month since the first $61.31 charge, the charges have gone up. First month after, $79.99, then 3 months of $70.99. Let me remind you that the CONTRACT I signed was for a monthly charge of $60.99.
I call on August 9 to find out what the heck is going on with my bill and why I'm being charged. I get a girl named Maria who clearly has NO IDEA what she's doing or what she's talking about. She then transfers me to whole different department and I get a guy named Pena who is an "Account Specialist" and promises that he will be able to fix the problem (before even knowing what the problem is, mind you). I tell him the problem, he fidgets around with my account, and says,"it shows that you are being charged for the premium service where technicians will be sent out if there's a problem, and batteries will be changed out for you free of charge." I then reply with, "that's a great service, BUT I NEVER SIGNED UP FOR IT." I don't appreciate being charged for services that I had no knowledge about and charged prices I never agreed to.
VIVINT'S REMEDY: Pena was very nice and credited my account $90.99. One month of the overpriced service and the $20 overcharge for that single month. Pena also stated that he sent an email to the Opportunity Department to adjust my bill back to my original amount of $60.99 and that I would get an email once that process was completed.

This is by far the worst company I've ever dealt with! They never put notes in the computer so the next rep. has no idea what the last person said to you and when you request that they do their job and listen to the phone call they claim they record, they lie and tell you they did. Oh, yeah, and after talking with about 25 different people and everyone promising to call you back-guess what!? Not one of them calls you back! I usually don't waste my time writing reviews, but felt this one was necessary.

The phone App is always under construction or gives me an error. My inside camera is always freezing or just buffers then I get App not available. If I can't get on the App when I'm away from my house then what good is the system? I purchased this system only for this feature.

I have been a loyal customer for 7 years. Last month they upgrade my thermostat. Tech wired up wrong causing heat pump to stay on. This caused 900 dollars of damage to air conditioner unit. Vivint replaced thermostat and claim department said they would pay for air conditioner repair, but when bill came they said they were not responsible. This is how they reward 7 years of loyalty. Maybe ADT will treat me better.

I purchased a home that had a Vivint system installed. Even though I had the system installed, when it changed from the old homeowner to me, someone had to come out and make sure everything was working correctly. And so far, I've been very pleased with the service. I've got an automatic door lock, motion and window sensors and I'm able to use my phone to lock and unlock and set my alarm. The system is working well and it has a lot of modern amenities that other systems do not have. If I have a problem I talk to technical support and they've been really nice and very helpful. The experience has been a pleasure.

I'll really try to be brief. I was skeptical about the sales pitch when the Vivint agent came to my door. I specifically asked when confronted with the contract, "What happens if I move out of here?" He said, "Oh, that's fine. We can reinstall in your new place for free." Forward a couple years, I've now sold that place and moved out. As soon as I did, I called Vivint and explained the situation. The answer was that the agent on the phone would call the new owner to offer the services to him. I've found out since that this is the only way that I'm to be let off the contract (I haven't moved into a new place, so I'm in limbo). This agent apparently couldn't get the new owner to sign on. Instead of letting me know he just kept me on billing. I was never told that they have a 6 month deferral to postpone billing for cases like mine.
That in itself is sort of an understandable mistake even though it's super frustrating from my perspective. The problem that blows my mind with their carelessness, is this whole time I've apparently had full access to the new owner's equipment that is still in that residence. I just found this out today as I logged in because I've still been getting text messages saying when the front door is left open. If I were a criminal, I could have had full access to his house (regardless if he changed the key for the door). If I had been using the camera for a view inside my home for security, I would have still had access to that. I could change the temperature in his home... the whole system is available to me.
I told the Vivint representative all of this in a call this morning. As of 4 hours later, I still haven't been separated from that equipment. Since I'm not a creeper or troublemaker the new owner of my old home has nothing to worry about from me, but this seems like an insane violation of privacy and more importantly security. It's so needless, but Vivint isn't willing to bend on any element to help me out. I asked for a refund on the last couple months (I haven't been using their services and wasn't told about the ability to defer payments) and they just say there's nothing they can do. I was also told on the phone today that I'm responsible to take any of the equipment that can be moved out of the old residence or I'll be paying for new equipment in my new place.
I wasn't warned of this in the sales or installation of the original service. I'm not about to go to a residence I don't own anymore and ask for equipment from his place. I feel almost like many of their agents are simply a rough attempt at artificial intelligence. When talking to them, there's zero wiggle room to make your life easier. The answer I got was, "...regardless of what you were told, all of our policies are on our website and you had plenty of time to review them." Yeah, that may be the case. Maybe you should train your sales and installation staff to be a little more careful about how they present the product? As it sits, I'll finish off the balance of the contract as I'm legally bound to do, but there isn't a remote chance that I'll be continuing their service with how this situation has been handled by two agents.

Vivint's sales rep was sweet. I purchased a service package which included the camera on the doorbell. It was to see who's at my door. I just got the feature that opens up my garage. I like that feature. A lot of times I would need it for my son. He’s in high school and he would leave his key in the house so he's stuck outside. I can open up the garage door wherever I'm at. Now I can open the gate from my phone anytime. However, sometimes the video may not come up on my phone. Also, one time the alarm went off. It was saying glass breakage, yet the only reason I thought why it went off was because my son slammed the cabinet. But customer service has been good overall.

Vivint's door-to-door salesmen came and told me about themselves. I had a system before and it didn't have the options like motion sensors, cameras, doorbell camera and water glass in the basement, so I figured I'll upgrade a little bit and purchased those. The installers were good and were done in 45 minutes. The motion sensor in the garage sometimes backs up, usually, in the cold weather and sometimes the hot weather too is not active and then five minutes later, it's back online again. Also, the camera in the garage doesn't work and there's a WiFi hooked up that needs to be done. Other than those, it's been good and the services so far have been fair. They come out and fix things when they need to instead of me having to do it and running back and forth to the garage to check cameras, etc. There are more options on it and more things to go wrong but overall, it's been pretty good.

I switched over to Vivint because my contract had expired. One of my co-workers had mentioned that they had this and to try it, so I did. But I should have stayed with Ackerman instead because of the cost and the service is so much alike. Also, if you're having an issue with your system and it's a systematic problem and you called for service, you have to pay for someone to come out. All I have is the camera. I thought it was going to be like a camera that could be mounted. It's wired and could be placed in one position. It serves no purpose. While the customer service is okay and they answer my questions, I would still tell people about the issues that I've had and the cost of the system so they would be prepared for that. If they're looking for a state-of-the-art equipment, then maybe this is not the route they want to take.

We first signed up for Vivint ten years ago when it was still called something else. Then earlier this year we had to have the system upgraded because it connects with the 2G cell connection which needed to be upgraded to 4G. They also put in all new controls and we've been pleased with that service. It didn't cost us anything. They did it efficiently plus the equipment is nice. We can check on the system online and when we're away we'd likely to check on it online more regularly.
Vivint is a professional company and we've been satisfied with the work. If I change a battery on a smoke detector they call right away so obviously they are monitoring things which is good. Somebody saw us trying out the system in front and asked about it and I told my experience with it and gave it a recommendation. Vivint is a professional company that seems to be doing a good job that offers good equipment.

I am very UN-HAPPY with the customer service. My husband and I have 3 systems, 1 at home and 1 in each of our business. We contacted customer service about our billing. We were asking if there is any way to get a cheaper monthly bill as our old systems were a lot cheaper than the Vivint. He was very rude with us, we then asked for him to book an appointment for a technician to come and remove all the systems in all 3 locations. He hung up on us!! We then called our sales person Kal and explained we are not happy, and he then also said he would help us, which again we haven't heard from him. We will NOT recommend this system to any of our business/personal friends and family! We feel that there should be some kind of break in cost when you sign 3 agreements within 3 days, especially when the salesman says just call in and they will give you a good deal. Just a scam to sell.

I had your system installed in my home after a representative knocked on my door. At the time I was with ADT and was looking to upgrade. First of all she lied and told me I had 7 days to cancel, not 3. Secondly the automatic garage opener was faulty so our cars were trapped in the garage for 2 days. When the system was finally removed from our home after I called and demanded that they remove it after the first 24 hrs, my garage could not open.
I had to pay a garage specialist $275 to open and free our cars from the garage and I have the receipts from that encounter. Now all I have for trying your company is holes that were drilled all over my house and a 275 dollar bill to free my cars from my garage. Thanks but I will never do business with you guys again and just remember that feedback goes a lot way. I will let others know of my experience. The sweet fast talking salesperson all of a sudden became evasive and rude once the system was installed and I have learned my lesson.

I am very dissatisfied with this system and the customer service. I will not recommend this alarm system as an affordable one for families, how it was sold to me. The system is battery operated of which they need to be changed frequently. When I called to cancel because of how dissatisfied I am, I was told that I would need to buy it out right now $1600. I am certainly having a hard time trying to see how is this affordable. I was trying to cancel and arrangements to make payments. But apparently they don't do that? I don't believe this product quality and Vivint service is not anywhere near of what they portray to be consumer friendly satisfaction and affordability.

After the installation of the new equipment, everything seemed to work fine. Now two weeks into the contract, I've spent a total of 8 hours on the phone with customer support to try and resolve the issues. Today I have an appointment scheduled to correct the faulty devices or the system. If the issues are not corrected. Vivint has my permission to remove everything and end the contract. I have been patient, I have calls logged, pictures, and video of all issues. My appointment window is 9-12, it's now 11:12. The technician will probably be late again. I have more to share, I Vivint or customers would like more feedback. P.S. This all stemmed from a theft in front of one of the faulty cameras. I found a big gap in the log files.

When my previous company told me that I needed to get my system fixed, and it would be four weeks before I could get a repairman, I switched to Vivint. We now have a doorbell camera which we didn’t have before. It gives a bit more security. When we travel, we know who’s at our front door. We also have the phone app and it’s great. I could be in another state or city, and I'd get the call done right away, just, “Hello. Can I help you?” Or I can go out and if somebody has to do some work in the house that we trusted and we've had them here before, I can turn off the alarm and open the door for them. So, it works out well.
I called their representatives to have two new contacts because I needed to put two new windows in, and the gentleman on the phone was excellent. The installer was very professional, very courteous and he wasn’t pushy trying to sell up their products. Overall, Vivint is a pleasure to have and they’ve been very good. I would recommend it in a heartbeat.

The people from Vivint are friendly and knowledgeable. I got a doorbell, door and window alarms from them. Their sales reps have all been good and their installation crew were ready and willing and were able to hook the devices up within an hour. Right now though, their system doesn’t work. I had new doors put in such that they would shut completely whereas before I had a gap in the door, so now I can't use the alarm system at all because it doesn’t recognize that the door is shut or locked.

Don't know how you stay in business. Called at the end of 4 hour window to tell me you're running late (1200-4pm). I called at 5pm to find the status stated still running late. Reschedule for another day and you no showed! One of the worst companies I have ever dealt with!!! I'm pissed I can't give you negative 5 stars. Please be aware this company did not meet the 4 hour window on the first schedule installation and no-showed me the second time around. Don't waste your time.

From the start: A salesman shows up to our door and starts giving his pitch. We were not interested, but he convinced us by feeding us lies. Told us we were signing a 2 year contract. It was a 5 year. Told us, "You can cancel at any time with a SMALL fee." You have to pay out the entire contract. Thousands of dollars. We moved a few months later and found a different home security provider that offered more in the way of equipment and service and was less than half the cost. NO CONTRACT REQUIRED. First off, if a company wants you to sign a contract it is a good indication that they are worried you will find out how horrible they are and want to force you to stay with them and keep giving them your money. Vivint falls under that category. Anyways, we called to cancel when we moved. This is when we find out we're in a 5 year contract not a 2 year contract.
We tell them about everything their salesman told us and that we were lied to about everything. They said they are not responsible for what their salesman says. We ask to get in contact with that salesman and they tell us he no longer works there. We fought it forever and gave up because they simply did not care. They had our money for the next 4 years. So we move and have them come move our equipment and they bill us for the move. (Another lie we were told to get us to sign the contract that they do free moves.)
Just recently I get fed up with the system again. Their equipment does not work how it's said to. Camera goes in and out all the time. Half the time we can't even view it. The Thermostat screws up constantly. We've had a few accidental alarm set offs and I would say 40% of the time we don't even get a call from them or anything. So much for the alarm I guess. The keypad lock on the front door is supposed to disarm the home when used. Alarm went off on our dog sitter after using the keypad. So that didn't work. I could go on and on. Anyways, so I call to do whatever I can again to cancel. The first time I call I'm told I have 4 months left on my contract and can just pay it off. I'm confused because I'm two years in on a 5 year contract (so they say) but I tell them I'm not paying it off. I just want it canceled because I've been getting screwed around for 2 years.
I demand to talk to a supervisor and get told that one will call me in 5 to 10 mins. I wait an hour with no call and call back. Demand a supervisor again and get one after being on hold forever. Tell him all my issues and I'm not paying off the final 4 months and he says I have 2 and a half years left on my contract. So again I'm just getting fed lies and getting the run around constantly. It's 36 months first, then 4 months and now 30 months. Really??? After yelling and pleading and explaining to this guy how they are in breach of contract in so many ways, he absolutely refuses to cancel my service. I asked him to send a copy of the contract to me so I can go through it and show them (and my lawyer if necessary) everywhere that they are in breach of contract. They will not send it to me. I keep getting other documents that show how much I owe or something completely different than what I want.
Again they are giving me the run around because they don't want to send the actual contract. Now I am going anywhere I can to tell everyone how horrible Vivint is. And I will keep doing so to help people avoid getting sucked into the scam they've sucked so many others into. Vivint is the absolute worst company to get involved with. They will make it sound so good but it's not. They are SCAM ARTISTS. Do not trust them. Do not do business with them. There are so many better options out there, I PROMISE. I am still working on getting my service canceled and will soon be getting my lawyer involved. It has seriously come to that. It's unreal.

Some of the houses around here had been broken into. We got Vivint's basic security package. We've had it for over eight years and it has been great so far. I had a few problems but they took care of them right away. We had a motion sensor in the garage that was too sensitive. I called them and they reset it. They were very courteous and took care of it. Also, a few times we set off the alarm ourselves. They called and checked to see how we were doing. We had to give them the password but everything seemed to be good then. Every time we needed them, they've been there.

I purchased the home monitoring for burglars from Vivint because we don't have a home phone in our house anymore. We have cellphones and this is one way that if you couldn't talk, you can get to the system and activate it and I’m very satisfied with the service. The sales representatives were down to earth, used plain text and didn't try to be all superior and knowledgeable. The installation team came in, did a good job, didn’t make a mess, cleaned up whatever trash they created and was on their way. I had to call a couple of times for technical support. They solved my problems very efficiently and they were very helpful and knowledgeable. The last one I came in contact with was amazing. He took care of the situation and it was great. Vivint is a very reputable company, centered on customer service.

I've had my service since December 2012. So far we've paid a total of $2,799.44. Pros: Excellent Security System and Monitoring Service. Cons: Cancelling Service. I cancelled my service because I've found a much better way of monitoring my home. The problem that I had was cancelling my service - they offered $5; then $8 and then $10 off my monthly bill. I told them that I wasn't interested and wanted my service cancelled. The CSR MGR said that my service began 25th of each month so another month would be charged to my credit card. I wanted my service cancelled on the day that I submitted, in writing, that they acknowledge receiving on July 31st.
Vivint Acknowledge Cancellation but will not cancel the service until September 24th. I had expected them to cancel our service by August 24th, the day before they charge our credit card account. They would have cancelled the service by August 24th if they had received notice by July 25th. I cannot recommend any company that is not willing to cancel service at a reasonable notice.

On July 12th I cancelled the meeting with the salesman. On July 14th, he came anyway and convinced me to get the service. It was great to have your service until today August 2nd, when it was turned off because the salesman failed to notify the cancellation department that I agreed to the service (that is the explanation given by your cancellation department) which doesn't make sense because my alarm was activated 2 days after the cancellation so someone dropped the ball. I am now without security/protection for my home until at least 2 days from now. This is not acceptable to a woman who stays alone at night. I am possibly now going to cancel and you can come and retrieve your equipment if someone can't activate my service today.

A man came to my door and talked about the old alarm system I had and how it wasn't being monitored right. He also told me about Vivint. And so, I decided to purchase a security package from them. Vivint's sales representatives were professional and helpful. They answered questions I had and showed me how they were putting monitors on my doors. Thus far, it's been the best alarm system I've had. And so, I recommend Vivint and I'll stick with it.

Initially, I wanted the outside camera but when the person came to install, they gave me inside cameras. So I sent them back. The installation team was nice but it was disappointing. They said they only offer indoor cameras but the salesperson told me they have everything that I wanted. And it was the initial reason why I went with Vivint at that time and I felt like they told me that just to get a sale. They couldn’t do anything because they didn’t offer outdoor cameras at that time. I've had the Vivint alarm system for a few years now and it does the job but their monitoring fees are a little high. Also, recently my alarm had gone off a couple of times. There was a thunderstorm, I wasn’t home and Vivint couldn’t do anything about it. Then the city where I live charged me for the false alarm and Vivint didn't seem very helpful when I called them about it.

We looked at security systems online and researched a bunch of different options. We were looking for one that had some integration with our mobile phones, so we could control it remotely and also the ability to have cameras connected to it. We got Vivint early spring so we haven't even had it a year and it's been pretty good. Sales went smoothly and being there was nothing really unexpected. We knew what we were getting into based off of everything that we researched on the website. The installation was great and the representative that came and did the install was very polite and thorough in explaining everything and working with us, making sure all the items were installed how and where we wanted them to.
We even had an issue with the doorbell camera since I have an older home so we didn't have electrical wiring for a doorbell. We had a battery-powered one and he offered to come back and do the install later if we decided to have the electrical done. I did and had an electrician come out, had the wiring put in and he came back and installed the camera with no additional charge for coming the second time so, we really appreciated it. But we had a couple of times where the system has reached out to us unexpectedly. Also, if there's activity out the front door, the camera takes quite some time to view the recorded footage from when there's been activity on the camera if you try to access it right away versus like waiting a few minutes.
There's also a long delay on the mobile app to arm and disarm the system, like if I'm at my front door and I want to disarm it with my phone before I walk in so that the console would let me when I walk in my house. But I'm standing there for about a minute while the app tells me it's working on deactivating the system so I'm having some signal issues when I’m almost within range of the Wi-Fi. Also, the pricing is a little bit higher than some other options especially if all they need is the camera and not necessarily interested in the monitoring but we wanted the monitoring and I'd still recommend it.

I first heard Vivint through a family member. I have the thermostat control, window sensors, fire, four cameras with the doorbell camera included, the monitoring app that can monitor everything, and lock them. The app is pretty good but the service had its ups and downs. We've had to call the service techs out more than I would have had liked to cover minor issues with the door lock not locking when you send the code. I had already called to have the kicker plate fixed for the door over a month now, and they still have not been out to fix it so it is really frustrating. I haven't really worried about it because I figured they should have called back.

At first I thought it would be nice to see when my packages arrived and look in on my pets. Now, I have peace of mind knowing I really did close that garage door and don't have to walk the perimeter every time I hear a bump! The sales guy was super professional and knowledgeable. The company did not show that they value a customer's home. Technician had problem installing the alarm. And one day uninstall what he install nothing was cleaned up. I thought I would recommend this company to other people that I know but going through this experience I would not recommend this company to no one.

Somebody broke in the house and trashed it. I had surgery and I was having a bad back even before my husband passed. I left one afternoon and when I came back the next day, the house was completely turned upside down. My children wanted me to sell the house and leave but I have too many memories here. I was not ready to do that yet. My son said I need to go back and get Vivint because he’s been using them for years and he’s been happy. I have the camera and connections on the door, ring doors, motion detectors and the glass breaker. I’m very satisfied. I can leave home and check what’s going on.
I was out of the country the other day and I could still see what was going on at my house. Except I have not been able to access the camera at all times. And especially at night, I get awakened and I'm a little bit antsy and I want to see what’s happening at the front. I can put on Vivint live and see what’s going on with the night because that works. But if I want to look back at something, let’s say what happened at 1:00, I can’t do that because it cuts off. In the evening by 9:00, it's off. Rarely am I able to see at 2:00. With technology, sometimes things happen. I would love to be able to turn on the app and see the front door and the range by the camera every time I wanted.
Angelo, the sales representative, was excellent and he explained everything well. He was very professional, courteous and he said if there is any problem, I can always call back. I understood what was going on and he got the technician to come out. When there were a couple of snags, the technician was able to call in and the person at the office walked through and connected the thing that had not been put on the program. He also left windows from the program. It’s a good thing he decided to check before leaving me. I needed to call back and they walked him through and he was able to get it done.
The installation team had to come out more than once. The first person came out because I was having problem, then somebody else came out and I had to call Comcast because I have everything else with them except my security. And the technician was terribly short tempered with the Comcast guy after they hung up on me. What Vivint wanted to change, Comcast explained to me that anybody could come into my page. But I don’t have the page, I’m not technology savvy. Anybody couldn’t hack my program and they were saying they’re not doing that because this is what it used to be. I'm not too happy with the comment of the person from Vivint that I’m not a top executive or somebody so no one would want to hack my program. I'm a normal citizen, but that was not called for. However, I’ve learned to choose so, I need to go by.
He was the only one I was not happy with. The other people, I’ve been happy with because I’ve had problems over the time, they have been very professional, helpful and did what had to be done. I had to call when the lock didn't work with the camera in the front door. He wanted me to open the door to go outside to do that. I told him that at midnight, I will not be opening the door and going outside. So, I had to leave it that night as it was because I have two locks on the door. And then the next day, somebody came and corrected the situation. Every technician can’t come overnight but they’ll come the next day. When the technician was walking me through with the keypad and with what was going on, I told her I’m ready to get my job with Vivint as a qualified technician because she walked me through it and I was able to do whatever to solve the problem. I felt really good.
I’ve heard of other people with other security companies but I wouldn’t change Vivint. Before, I had to stop with Vivint because I couldn’t afford it. Things went bad and my husband had stage four cancer so it got really rough. I didn’t do it because I just want to sit back and spend the money everywhere because everybody lacks security. But I came back to Vivint and I would definitely tell anybody about them. I’m very happy with the plan I have with them. I am as secure as can be with technology. I feel very safe, I can call up anytime and get the response. I have something to make me feel comfortable and I know that somebody cares.

Currently very dissatisfied with Vivint. We have had it installed for about 3 weeks now and the equipment does not work properly. Also one appointment, after staying home, technicians do not show up. Next appointment does not fix problem. Third appointment scheduled for August 2. I will not pay my first bill on August 17.

A friendly Vivint salesman came and answered all my questions. I wanted a garage door system because I have cars in there that need to be kept. The service package also included the glass break alarm and the thermostat. The install team came and they were very knowledgeable of the system. The Vivint guy just knocked on my door and I had a pretty good dealing with him. I got the doorbell and the cameras inside the house and in my backyard then there's also a smoke detector. So far, everything’s so good.

False advertisement. Customer services is rude. They will not allow you to cancel service. They will continue to tell you they are not responsible for what agents tell you in person. You can't cancel. This company is a rip off. Don't sign up.

I have the monitors and cameras from Vivint but I’m not happy with the cameras and I might have to turn those back in because they don’t work. The sales representative was ok and the installation team was very nice. They showed up on time and cleaned up after themselves. The service is all right but the cameras are not what they should be.

I have the doorbell camera, two thermostats, an indoor camera and the glass break motion with my Vivint service package. But their service is not so satisfactory. I've had an issue with the system since it's been installed and they've had to come out several times to fix it. As a matter of fact, it stopped working again. The push pads to the door to unlock it stopped working and right now, it says, "loss of communication". Also, the indoor camera is currently not working at all. These happened at least five times since I got Vivint a couple of months ago and they don't know why.

The crime rate in my area has gone up for burglary. So, we wanted something there for our family. I've got cameras and some window breaks amongst some other things from Vivint. Their service had been excellent so far. The sales reps have all been helpful and gave me any information I need. If they didn't know, they would find somebody that did as fast as they could. The guy that came to install the system was very helpful. He didn't mind that I had dogs in the house and kids running amok, so that was nice. Overall, Vivint put my mind at ease with home security and they're affordable.

If I could give less than a quarter of a star I would. From the sales team that manipulates on the necessity of home security to screwing up and supposedly "Scheduling a technician for work when he was given the day off." Also lies about documenting notes that were not documented; in addition to the fact, if you want to cancel during the "ROR" you are under contract and will be required to buy the service anyway. An absolute ripoff. Buy your own cameras and do not use this company. I was referred by a family from a small town where you actually matter and people are courteous of your time and their service and integrity. Vivint is not.

I have had Vivint for less than a month now & so far it's been TERRIBLE! The main panel freezes or disconnects it's 2-3 times a week having to be rebooted. (I have very high speed internet) My cameras go on & offline whenever they want. The doorbell camera hardly detects motion in front of it! My drive way camera only pick up motion here & there! The list could go on!

On July 3 Shaun ** from Vivint came to my door and wanted to tell me about the Vivint SmartHome alarm system. I'm a retired police officer and was an ADT customer for 23 years and not interested in changing alarm systems and skeptical about a product I had never heard of. Shaun and I talked about the system and it sounded interesting, but I told him I would want to talk about it with my wife. Shaun came back the next day, July 4 and that day he was able to have our ADT equipment converted to Vivint, installed new keypad door locks and a new thermostat. Within 1 week of trying the new system we cancelled ADT. We love being able to control the house temperature from our phones, check if our doors are locked, turn on lights and see if our garage door is open.
Today we experienced the quick response to a fire alarm by a pizza that started burning in the oven. I just smelled the smoke and a notification appeared that a fire was detected and Vivint would be contacting me. A calm, friendly voice instantly spoke and asked if we needed the fire department. I told her we didn't that we just burnt a pizza. I was impressed by the fact that when I got the notification all our doors unlocked and air conditioner turned off automatically. A great safety feature. By changing to Vivint we are saving money on our monitoring and have the convenience and peace of mind that our home is safe. I would recommend Vivint SmartHome and Shaun ** to anyone!

Vivint did everything I asked for. Their sales representative came twice and he seemed very knowledgeable and a good guy. I got the Space Monkey, doorbell camera, three other cameras and the fire and glass break detection. I just wanted cameras at first but they all came with the package. When it flooded about a month after I got the system, I put the account on suspension and it was a headache trying to get it started up again. Eventually, I got everything resolved.

The sales reps from Vivint were very good. We got their standard package with doorbell cameras and a camera on the garage. Their service has been good so far. We've had a couple of alarms go off. A cat set an alarm off in the basement today. Animals weren't supposed to set the motion detector off, but the cat probably played around and upset the setting. We also had a smoke alarm that went off ridiculously for several times on just a spill in the oven. It wasn’t a fire but it was a whole bunch of smoke because something was burning. So the alarm system did what it was supposed to do. We tested it and it works well. I would recommend Vivint to others. Overall, I'm very satisfied and happy as a clam.

I was thinking about putting an alarm system. A Vivint salesman was maundering around the neighborhood and he happened to catch me. He was professional, courteous and everything worked out. The installers were a little bit late and they had to return the next day to make some corrections. I've been with them for about 11 years now and I've been happy with them. They had to do a complete upgrade since my alarm system would no longer work with the old one. We got all of the features and I also added up a few things. Vivint has been great and we really like their service. I'm very satisfied and I would recommend them to others.

Someone from Vivint came to our house. He's not just a salesperson, he's someone higher up in ranking. He was really nice and he showed us his home and how the system works at his house. He showed us on his phone how he could see what's going on in his house if he was not around. That helped us better connect on how we can use it. He not only told us what he can offer us but also what everybody else was offering. He mentioned the differences, similarities of the service and what we would get more. We were with ADT at the time and although we’re paying the same amount, Vivint offered us so much more so it made it easier for us to make that decision. The installers were very nice, very professional, in and out faster than I thought they would be. They installed the inside camera and the doorbell camera, too.
Now, I can check on my phone to see what’s going on outside my house as well as inside my house whenever we have a baby sitter. We have small children now but we’re thinking ahead of time. If they ever have to come home and we’re not there, we can know that they’re coming in, when they’re coming in, what they’re doing and who’s coming in with them. When they become teenagers, it would be nice to check in on them and sneak a peek, too. Also, knowing that our home and family are safe, not having to run home to make sure who's ringing the doorbell or did my daughter come to the door. It gives us a peace of mind and that way we won't have to worry so much. It's priceless and it’s worth the money.

I have 2 different service packages with Vivint based on the necessity of the 2 houses. Vivint is not a bad company but they need tweaking. Their sales rep and installation team were all good and the technicians are also knowledgeable. But, their filing system is screwed up so making changes with Vivint is not the easiest thing to do. The cameras I initially had in my home in Philadelphia were horrible and multiple technicians came out yet couldn’t find out the problem. I changed internet services, bought expanders for them, did whatever they asked me to do and it cost me money but still, the cameras didn’t work. They were blaming the internet for it but I didn’t believe it and lo and behold, it wasn’t so I was frustrated. Overall, they shouldn’t offer software and other things if they're not compatible or they can’t repair.

I was running out the door when the Vivint sales rep came in. I scheduled him to come back a couple of days later and he was awesome. He also followed up right after we got things set-up. I got the Nest system and I have the automatic door locks on the back, fire and carbon monoxide monitoring then the control panel. Another guy came in to install the system and he was very personable, nice and friendly. He showed me what he was doing and how to use the system. He was in and out pretty quickly. I like that I’m able to control the locks and the thermostat from my phone. Also, there were a couple of times that the alarm went off. Their reps buzzed me in and made sure everything was good. So far, their service has been great. Their reps were easy to deal with and did everything that was promised. I’m happy with the system and very satisfied my experience.

I'm really enjoying the system. This is my first security system ever and I didn't realize the peace of mind it gives. I especially love the keypad door lock and smart thermostat. I don't have to carry keys and I never even touch the thermostat. And I even had someone come fix a light in the kitchen and I unlocked the door from work. That was just cool!! Thanks to Nick and his crew for convincing me I really needed and would enjoy this system.

Vivint is expensive and have terrible service! I don't know how they can stay in business. It took them almost a month to try and install their security system and communicating with them was worse than talking to the IRS if you can believe that! They made little, if any effort, to try and make it up and they lost a good customer. I am writing this review to let others know that there are much better options - VIVINT is a terrible home security company. Go somewhere else is my advice.

I love the system that I purchased with the exception of the door lock. It is not the door lock itself, it's quite often during each day we have to reset the lock by removing the battery pack and putting it back. Otherwise it just continues to beep.

We had a Vivint here, but it’s not being used because I can't afford to run it right now. When we had the system installed, everyone was pleasant. Our package had video, the doors, and the thermostat. We also had the carbon monoxide tester and the smoke detector which are always good to have. The camera was in case someone ever broke in and the keypad serves as an easy way to enter the house without a key. We loved it when it was in here.

One of Vivint's customers referred me to them and so far, I'm satisfied with their service. But I was placed on automatic billing while I was sitting home here and waiting for a bill in the mail. I was never asked which way I wanted to pay monthly but they've resolved that issue.

My Vivint package has the regular door sensors, a garage door sensor and then I have one outdoor camera. I have kids so anytime a door opens that they could be going outside, I like to have that feature for the doors. And then, the outdoor camera is for security because I don’t want people to come in or near my house. It allows me to see and it’s a gift for those few other neighbors who don’t have cameras.
I moved to Tennessee and moved back here to Alaska. The rep for this area has been so busy instead of calling him directly, I had to call the Vivint number to set up an appointment with him because he would never get back to me even though he said, “Hey, if you need anything just call me in my cell.” It took me a little bit to get it when I moved back in my garage door since it wasn’t working. I had to reschedule to get that fixed and but overall, the service has been okay. I would recommend them to a friend. They’re one of the better security systems out there that are well known and a lot of people use them.

My mother has Vivint and I also got them based on her satisfaction with the services provided by the company. My initial interaction with the service representative that I signed up with was good. However, the installation had been a little wacky. There were some configuration issues where I wasn’t able to use any of the equipment up until a month and a half after the initial installation. My A/C was hooked up incorrectly and the garage controller wasn’t compatible with my door, so it never worked. Then it took two different technicians to finally get my thermostat working and just to get the garage door removed. Although they did a pretty good job and they were accommodating, I just wish it had been fixed a little sooner. But once the installation was resolved, I haven’t had any issues otherwise. I have a sense of security and my phone is set up now with remote control. It has had a positive impact on my electricity bills too. So, it was all in a free install.

Signed up with these clowns 30 days ago. They made the equipment they were selling to me appealing so I took a chance and switched to Vivint... Never again. Had nothing but problems, cameras didn't work... Locked out of my house twice... Had techs in a bunch of times... Was told to upgrade Internet to fix the problem with cameras... did that and it cost more now and still doesn't work. Finally called and said remove your junk... but they want to keep their hands in my pockets so they won't remove and close the contract. Said they would take my cameras but continue to monitor my property...
If that's the case I would never have switched companies as United Alarm did that flawlessly for 4 years. Options are... buy out the equipment that (doesn't work) or see if a friend will take it or family? Like I want to pass this garbage down to people I know lol. I do not want these people in my house and I do not want their crap on my property. All I want is to go back to United Alarm. I hate the idea of these people having me stuck in a plan with garbage that doesn't work. I will never deal with these people again after this contract is up. We will go back to United... They screwed me the minute they walked through my door. I'm disgusted with the set up... and disgusted with Vivint. Do yourselves a favor and learn from my mistake... Steer clear of Vivint... United has far better service... I will be telling everyone I meet to not buy from them. Forgot to mention that their product chews through our monthly data plan... and we have a huge data plan.

Vivint is very professional, courteous, and did everything they said they would do. One of their guys had stopped by our home two years ago and now we have 2 accounts with them because we have them on both of our 2 homes. The sales reps were great and our service packages include the live monitor cameras, doorbell cameras, and more of the basic stuff at the other house. That way, we would be able to sometimes monitor things when we are away from the home. We're very satisfied with the service so far but I can't keep the system online with my phone. Most of the time, it breaks offline and has problems getting back online or connected to my phone again. I called about it but I didn't get it taken care of. I should have called back but because I drive a truck for a living, it's hard for me to do it. It's not Vivint's fault though. It's more of my end.

I was trying to replace the current alarm company that I had because they lied to me for the most part. I only had a few months left on my contract and Vivint paid that off and then they offered me this package with free stuff like concert tickets. The sales rep was fine during the sale but we never heard from them again after we purchased the package. I thought he would at least call to see how the thing was working.
The installation was quick and they did a good job but there's one little concern. They inherited some of the wired sensors from my old system so to me they own all that stuff and if something breaks I should get a replacement especially if it's just a little sensor that I have to pay for. But they want to charge me $60 for it and that's ridiculous.
Also I'd like to see the main board be a little more interactive especially since it's wireless and not through the internet. Instead of just putting up the weather in a static form it could be a little bit more here's the radar, it moves. But I would recommend Vivint to a friend. I always do. Vivint is doing a far better job compared to the previous system. I purchased their service package which included the main unit, camera, doorbell and all the windows, the glass breakage and smoke alarms. We're getting ready to move so I may get some updates as far as adding some more equipment on.

Their sales representative left a card so that if we ever needed him we could call him. I had a very positive interaction with him and the installation team that came was also very good. They walked me through what to do and explained everything. They walked me through every windows, doors and chime things. Working with the equipment was really easy to do and I feel very good about the product. Everything's been going well.

I used to have AT&T and I didn’t like them. So I was googling alarm companies and I liked that Vivint was able to do the video cameras and the doorbell non-wired. The sales reps and the installers were very good too. The sales reps answered all of the questions and concerns that I had. And although the installers weren’t able to insert the window charms because it was a brand-new house and the builder installed another alarm company, they gave us something else. We just have the camera and I like that it notifies me if it senses something at the door. So far, everything’s been really good and if there is an alarm, they call and they’re very prompt.

I have been with Vivint for over 4 years and I referred some new people. I called because I need cameras and would have to have a new panel to accommodate that... I explained that I don't mind paying for the upgrade but I can't afford to pay upfront, so I asked about paying over time which 2 of my friends do. They told me they couldn't do that since I was an existing customer... Wow. I have been loyal but when I asked for something, they are not that loyal to accommodate me... Thanks. I will be canceling.

Five years ago I purchased a Vivint system for a previous home. 4 years living in the home, we sold it. Upon selling, I called Vivint to find out about the system and how I should handle. They told me I could transfer to the new homeowners (if they wanted it) or have it moved to my new address. The new owners decided they did not want to take on the new system and I made another call to Vivint about our move. That move entailed our living in an apartment for a year and at the time Vivint was not in area and apartment complex would not approve equipment install. I called Vivint several times to again try and work something out, nothing from Vivint on trying to help "make it work." Meantime I also worked with apartment to have partial equipment installed so I could pay out the remaining 9 months on agreement.
Called Vivint with this info. It took Vivint 3 months to find an installer from another state to come hook it up. During this time they did suspend payments, but kept adding months to my "contract." It was a "shoddy" install at best. The equipment always malfunctioned and upon calling customer service to find out why we were told by them that our equipment was outdated and perhaps we should upgrade. Adding more months and fees, we declined. (again, still in a temporary place) According to agreement, if Vivint was not in area I could suspend monthly payments until such time as I moved to a "possible" area where Vivint would be and have it re-installed (yet this adds "months" onto your agreement).
Fast forward many calls, many months later (7 months to be exact), we move to another city and again, Vivint is not in area (at the time 2014) and our current insurance company stated that our security system must be patched directly to a 911 call center. Not an outsourced call center for discounts offered. So again, I could not use Vivint. I sent letters, emails and made phone calls, with a final letter being sent certified (3.2015) outlining my chronological dealings with the company because my initial plights fell on deaf ears trying to show Vivint where I felt as if we had fulfilled our agreement, I even went so far as to paying for 3 months I could not use or did not use the service to satisfy "the agreement."
I never heard back from anyone at Vivint. Until, wait for it... Yes, my credit report, 2 years later. There has been no contact from Vivint at all to this point. The only thing negative on my report is this "delinquency." I'm disheartened by the lack of follow up, follow through and certainly by the nonchalant way they do business and needless to say would never recommend them to anyone.

The salesman Otto promised the world - then also promised a 30 day cancellation - I had a few issues and when I called to share my concerns - I never received a return call - I opted to use my 30 day cancellation - and the company says that it is a 3 day cancellation policy - they call Otto who lies and says he never promised me this. Now I'm stuck with a company who does not return phone calls and does not honor its salesman's word.

I live in a rough area because my wife doesn't want to move. Our house is almost paid for, so we couldn't move to a better neighborhood or a gated community but I live officially five blocks from my parents, which I don't want to leave. They're getting old. I almost paid almost $10000 for a custom made alarm system and I'm glad I didn't. That's when I went with Vivint. A salesman showed up at my house. He was a young kid and he's very nice and cordial. I told him, "I need this and this and I don't have to pay more than this." We purchased everything with the service package. He called the supervisor and we made some arrangement. They're a lot cheaper and it's been working out so good.
The first guy that came was absolutely excellent. But one thing that I did not like is that the second technicians did not want to run wires through the walls. I called the supervisor and they approved to do the work through the walls. Also, I had a couple of technicians come out, help each other out and they finally got it done except for one camera. I submitted that to a guy whom I know does the 12 volts system and I asked him to give me about 10 feet to the cable so I can put it through the walls in my house. They took it in to my house and it was perfect. I was logged in with no problems.
The outside cameras always see movement at the front of my house, at my front door and the side. There's always some kind of movement, so they're always recording things. But I am having a little trouble with one camera that's not recording. I wish the cameras were better quality. I don't mind paying for better quality cameras.
These cameras are okay and they already caught a crime in an accident. The police came to my house that day and the camera caught it but when we zoom in, we can't see very good details of the face. We need either a 4K or at least 1080p camera. Also, the volume that we speak back to the doorbell is not even as good as the ring when people doorbell. When I'm in the bathroom or bedroom, I'd say "Hello, who's there?" And then sometimes I wouldn't even look, I just hit the button to activate it and start talking. I can hear them but they can't hear me. I also just got back from vacation and I don't think one of the cameras was recording to the hard drive. So maybe the hard drive is saturated already. But overall, the service is excellent and I'd recommend them.

One of our neighbors had a break-in around the corner. Vivint came through my neighborhood doing a promotion so I decided to get their service package including the monitor and the door lock. I had good interactions with the sales rep and the installation team. The installers came on time and prepared. So far, their service has been okay and my experience has been good.

The service I got from Vivint was very good. The installer was okay but he was in a hurry and didn't want to deal with my old alarm system. The installation was sloppy because I had to constantly call the sales rep whenever the installer didn’t want to do something just because it didn’t work. Then, I've also made service calls with things that have not been working. Sometimes I have to call them twice because the first technician didn’t completely fix the problem but they sent somebody else. Overall, the technicians try to make me happy and solve the issue.

Vivint was doing door-to-door and our area is not a high crime area, so I really probably didn’t need the security system but extra security is good. I've had this since 2010 and there were renewals that took place. The last time it came up, the rates were increased substantially but we worked through it. They were very receptive to changing the rates that I was used to which was good. Also, it’s been very good. We tripped the alarm a couple of times by mistake and they were right on the money with the response.

We were already considering a home security system when Vivint reps did a door-to-door solicitation and made a presentation. However, there were some questions that I had that the sales rep was not fully familiar with, like the difference between when arming and leaving or arming and staying. He was talking about the motion sensors and he mentioned that if you have a dog or you're gonna stay home, it’ll set the motion sensor off. I talked to the installation guy and he was very familiar with the product. He said that when you set it to "Arming Staying", it deactivates those sensors and that makes sense.
Initially, it was also a little bit of a struggle and the system wasn't working. But I was able to contact the sales rep and he had a technician come out that same evening and they corrected the issue. I’ve also called a couple times for some issues with the panel that needed the update and they were very quick to respond and answer. They were very polite, courteous and helpful. Plus, being able to access and control the system anywhere at any time is great as well.

And if we're not tired of their system, we didn't have to sign a five-year contract, which is nice. Their keypad here in the house is more advanced, so that was nice too. Some of these things that we do, we could get from other companies but they probably wanted more money, but I never checked.
Their sales rep knows what he's talking about however, the installation staff got here at 9:00 PM, which to me was a bit high pressure, and they stayed until midnight. They shouldn’t be in the house when the day is done. If I were to do it again, I would specify that they should be out by eight o'clock at night and be done with their work. Overall, my experience with Vivint was reasonably good. We called back and the tech did come back. There were a few adjustments in some of the things and the system probably won't work as good because of the distance from the keypad to the door, or from the main pad to the door. And sometimes the lock and unlock don't work quite the way they are. The service has been reasonable up to now although sometimes it's not working quite the way it's supposed to, but it's getting better.

Vivint overcharged our bank account $1,085.00 on 6/12/17 and again charged us on 6/16/17. We have been told since 6/14/2017 that our money would be refunded within 3-5 business days. It is now 7/25/17 and our money has yet to be refunded! We have spoken to over 10 Reps, and Supervisors. First it was "We see the error." Then it was "We don't owe you a refund," and now it's "We can't see what you paid. We need your bank statements!" What! How can you charge someone, and not be able to see what, and how it was paid!?! Customer Service Reps saying "WHAT and "Nah" Just horrible!! Every call taking over an hour yet we still don't have our refund. HORRIBLE, HORRIBLE SERVICE!!! Beyond incompetent!!

We were sold under high pressure conditions to sign up for the 3 year contract for a security system. They rushed the install immediately after the contract was signed late that night and screwed up a number of things, including missing some window sensors agreed to and input the account number wrong. The year since we signed up has been ongoing issues including Vivint trying to charge 20 dollars for NSF fees due to them not inputting our account number correctly. The last straw was when they tried to charge me 49 dollars for a service visit when their main control panel suddenly failed and could not get it working again over the phone. The only thing this company cares about is separating you from your money. Terrible company. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

At first I got solar installed through Vivint in my old neighborhood in Wood-Ridge, New Jersey. When I sold that home and moved, I tried to get solar again but the section in town that I'm in has a lot of trees, so Vivint couldn't design a system for solar. But then I went ahead and got them for an alarm system. Currently, I have three accounts with them for my two business offices and my home. For the most part, I have been a very happy customer for the last six years with the exceptions of three times where my old system at the house needed to be revamped with new technology. I went for a month or so without the home being monitored and it took a long time for them to come out and get me back up. But since two months ago, everything's been working pretty well.
My interactions with the reps and the technicians have always been very pleasant, too. There are two techs that I've become friends with so I usually I request them to come out when I need their service and I’ve never had a problem with them not doing what they're supposed to do. I also constantly refer Vivint to all my friends and family members. They have one of the best technologies out there. The app for the iPhone and the alarm panels, which are all touchscreen and in color, are great. Even their cameras have gotten a lot better which was a complaint I had in the past.

The system was installed on 8 July 2017 and 24 hours later we received our first notification saying that the transmitter battery is low. We, unplug the transmitter wait a couple of minutes and plug the unit back in. The green light comes on and we are good for another 24 hours. Yes it gives a fault every 24 hours like clockwork. Then we get an automated phone call and one of the options is to press zero to be connected to a customer service rep, but the number is no longer in service. I called the phone number on the panel and the only time a technician can check the system is during the week and not after 6 when we would be home. We work during the week which I find strange since they first wanted to install it on 1 July 2017 (Canada day holiday) and then it was installed on a Saturday and now it cannot be checked on a Saturday. We like some of the features of this system, but if it does not work then you might as well come and take it back.

Your tech came and they did not connect proper wires for our A/C (we bought a thermostat like Nest) and we had to pay $75 for an electrician to fix it. Also it's more than a week and we had not received the stickers and all.

I purchased a house alarm service package from Vivint. A tech came out to set the system up and he was a very nice guy and he cleaned up after himself. Overall, I had a very good experience with Vivint.

The features don't work to its best potential but it's okay. I would like it if the camera actually record when someone's at my door.

We were with a different service provider that was really bad. Vivint sales reps came to our door and helped us get out of from the other provider and go with them. We went with their smart locks then, afterwards, we had ordered the surveillance cameras when those came out. The installers came, and they were not able to set them up because we were in the middle of a rental. So they came back a few weeks later and connected them but there was an issue with our Wi-Fi. They would not work so we tried to return them but they refused and said that there are no returns.
So I paid $400 for an upgrade that went in the garbage and I was choked about that. Then they came out again last year and I had mentioned it to one of the guys. He said that if we have one of the old cameras, there's a recall on them and they can give us a new one. So we looked and found one of them, so we got one new camera that actually worked and we've had Vivint for five or six years now. But overall, they're pretty good.

Within days of the extremely shoddy installation, our system was giving errors - at one point it wouldn't STOP audibly indicating there was a problem until we disconnected the entire system with the help of telephone support. The next day a more qualified technician "fixed" the problem. Within days, it's back to showing errors, cameras offline (3 of which come and go, one of which pretty much always stays offline), periodically the system shows that all batteries are low- none of which are reporting to the panel, and it's constantly chiming, AND the sky panel now just loses connection.
The guy who came to my door nearly daily for weeks until we agreed to this system - is now not reachable. And I have a 5 year contract and thousands of dollars financed - so what's the recourse now since this didn't happen within the 72 hour ROR period? Couldn't be more disappointed with this system, furious at the cost, and without security protection in my home the majority of the time now.

I was with another home security provider for over ten years. When I upgraded my system to include cameras and remote accessibility, everything went south. I had to use two separate apps and the connection would have to be reset constantly. I hadn't even had the new system for a month before I threw my hands and gave up because I didn't even have live feeds from my doorbell or indoor camera for nearly two weeks straight. When I called for help, I was told that I had to be in the house to reset it. How was I supposed to be able to do that if I'm halfway around the world. Yeah, no thanks. I need a solution and need one fast.
Luckily my sister told me about Vivint and I switched my services immediately because I only had one week left before my deployment. They were able to schedule me in, the installation tech installed the system a few days later. It didn't take all day and everything worked like he said would. It hasn't even been a month and I've already stopped two teens from casing my home using the doorbell two-way communication feature. It also allowed me to assist my tenants who were having issues adjusting the thermostat. The cameras are super clear and I like being able to easily provide access codes to my family and friends who stop by to deliver or pick up things for me, and to see when my lawn-care provider stops by.

Vivint system works sporadically. After dozen of customer service calls and 6 visits of technicians, they cannot fix their system, and they will not let me out of their contract. Their solution: Take out the equipment that doesn't work. Vivint misrepresented their product. Their fine print says that they do not warrant that their system will work.

I had a good experience in setting it up, but I am very concerned about the amount of wifi usage. I am currently being billed extra from my carrier because there is too much wifi usage. I'm not sure if it has to do with settings, or if that is normal. If that is normal, then that was not explained/disclosed to me prior to me purchasing the system.
