    My daughter had gotten Vivint and I decided to get it for myself. We use the system as it was installed, mainly for the alarm. When I was setting it up, I asked about the doorbell camera. They said it will come out so I said that I will wait. He told me to give them a call when they come and they will come out. But when I called, they said that nothing was in the paperwork so I won't get it. I was a little bit perturbed at that time but that was my only negative experience there. Nevertheless, I would recommend Vivint. I would tell others to use them and that it has been fine. But they should make sure that anything that was promised is written on the paper before they sign it.

    The company I had before Vivint had sold out to another company that I didn’t wanna be with. They never even bothered to tell me they had sold out. So it was a coincidental thing when Vivint came to the door. Their reps explained to me what I didn’t have what I thought I did. I listened to the pitch and it was gonna be less money than I was currently paying monthly. So I went along and let them do the swap out with the equipment, as well as the wiring up. I initially had a very good success in terms of installation and explanation of how to use the various gadgets. Apparently, though, they don’t service the secondary problems that might come up.

    For example, the major electronic board will tell you every day and every hour that it's 35 degrees outdoors. It doesn’t matter if it’s 19. In fact, it’s still telling me through the sub-zero weekend that it was 35 degrees. To me, that is important. Octogenarians have to be careful. If I’ve gotta go out, I wanna know how cold it is and that's one thing I always enjoyed about my previous system. Other than that, the reps at Vivint are very accommodating. I wanted my middle-aged kids to have the fob to turn off the alarm if anything happened and we were inside, and they needed to get in. Vivint did reprogram those for me so that I could give them to my two middle-aged kids in case of an emergency. Also, when I had to call them once because the panel was saying I had four issues, they walked me through and explained everything. So, I just ignore that thing when it comes up. I would recommend Vivint.

    The install not very professional and the install crew could not figure out how to correctly wire the doorbell camera so they ended up running a separate cord that had to plug into one of only two outlets I have in my garage. The equipment required a lot of drilling and cords that had to be plugged in throughout our home. At one point, the installers ran a cord to the wrong area and when they removed it, they pulled it from the wall and all the staples were left on the garage floor in the area where we park our cars. Luckily I picked them all up before they ended up in our car tires. The cameras had trouble connecting and the doorbell camera never worked even after installers left. I canceled service the next day and ended up getting equipment from my former alarm company, Frontpoint. They were cheaper monthly by $30 and way way more professional.

    When I called up Vivint for the first time, I just asked questions, like how much it would cost to install this and that. The guy instead asked for my name and other info for data farming and building an account. I told him no, that I'm not playing that game and he's gonna tell me what I wanna know and I'm gonna call him back. While he didn't get the sale, I did call back Vivint at a later date. Lauren, the tech I worked with, installed my first system at my other house and then when I moved, she moved the system too. She got both places set up and secured. She also sold me what I need. The installation at both places went smoothly and it was seamless. She knew what she was doing and she was able to overcome the obstacles.

    Once in a while, we had our Christmas decorations set off the alarm while we're gone a time or two. We got a couple of little hiccups like that. But I'd rather the system go off than not go off when it needs to. The quality of the system I have is outstanding. I like the fact that I can use the app to look at my cameras over my cell phone. We have the doorbell camera and then another camera is out in our garage. I also have a camera plugged in our little kitty condo so we can take a peek and see if our cats are all snuggled in. At this day and age, and with crime on the rise, everyone should have a smart home. Vivint gives me safety and security for my family, as well as peace of mind for my assets. Their system could save our lives, not only against burglars and serial killers but simple fires as well. They give me that for about the same price it would cost me to have cable TV. Overall, I had a good experience with Vivint. I love them.

    My neighbor had Vivint and I liked what they had to offer as far as outside and inside security, plus the cameras. So, I decided to go with Vivint compared to the company that I had. Signing up was easy. We did it right there in the house. The rep gave me a demonstration of how it works. He was from out-of-state and he was showing me how he can control his house even from far away like that. I really liked that idea, that you can control things in your house and see what’s going on.

    Then, the installers came in and installed everything. It wasn’t long and they gave me everything that I wanted. Also, they showed me all the features and the things I could do. They explained everything. And what I really like about Vivint is the way that if something happens, they can talk to you right through the modem or the on-wall panel. I really like that feature where if the alarms go off, someone is there to make sure you’re okay and to call the police on your behalf if you can't or if something is wrong.

    We're pretty satisfied with Vivint, but the shop door sensor has been losing communication. I had them send me a new one and replaced it, but it’s still going on. It’s just one of the little nuisance things, and it reoccurs occasionally. On one occasion, the system itself lost communication too. But I just messed with it at the panel and it came back to life. Overall, Vivint is doing better than I could expect.

    Vivint has the technology for home automation. We have the adjustable thermostat and then we have the front door that you can unlock and lock from a cellphone. If had to have someone take the dogs out I can let them in. Also, I have the keypad. Right now we’re just waiting to add on to the system a couple more of those door locks. I would like one on my garage door. I like the concept and I like the features that they have. You just have to watch who’s doing the installation. When they put some of the stuff up, the guy was like, “Oh, these are drywall screws.” But they never put any inserts into the drywall to screw it in to. They just screwed the screws into the drywall, which I fixed. They didn’t really know their way around.

    It seems to me that they just took someone off the street and went over to Home Depot, loaded them up with tools and then had them install the system. When they had plugged in the power for the unit, it blew the breaker for the refrigerator so I had to fix that. They were there until 1:30 in the morning, which was a little out of whack. Finally I had to tell them to come back because I gotta get up and go to work in the morning.

    I replaced the receptacle and that ended that problem. Then when we had a problem trying to schedule an appointment. It was a pain. Every time I tried to schedule a service appointment, they wanted to come at like from 1:00 to 3:00, or something in the afternoon during the week, and I’m not home there during the week. So I had to get a weekend appointment. On the online thing, we kept rescheduling, rescheduling, rescheduling. That went on for like a month, as we had a front door lock that would not lock.

    Naturally, when a couple of door-to-door security salesmen come knocking because of the ADT sign in the front yard, you put up some walls almost immediately. Luckily, your crew was super knowledgeable about their product and answered all of my questions honestly without forcing a hard sell. On a scale of 1-10 I would absolutely give the guys a 9. Door-to-door sales is always an annoyance, but when you have a compelling offer and friendly team members it makes things 1000x easier to swallow.

    System works beautifully but I am concern with the fees. When I visited Sam I was told by the rep that no monitoring was required. Now there's monitoring and equipment insurance. I don't want insurance on my equipment. My next payment is $40 something and I still have to pay Guardian $37.88 monthly. Review my account. Your product is great but too expensive for a retiree.

    I have had multiple issues of being told one thing by an agent then when you call back it is something completely different. I had one customer rep that refused to transfer my call to a supervisor or even another rep and flat lied about knowing who was in charge or on duty as was confirmed when I called back and got another rep on the line. They never disclosed during the sale, install or cancellation of monitoring that this includes the mobile app functionality and could not provide any documentation where that is stated so.

    The sales people from Vivint were top-of-the-line and the technician who came out was very professional. The quality of the equipment is great. I can do everything that I need to do with the system on my phone. I love the doorbell camera and the thermostat. When I was at lunch with my coworkers and boss the other day, my doorbell started going off but I wasn’t expecting anything. I opened it up, and there was a Rottweiler from across the street. It was running off with my Christmas packages from Amazon. So I went home, and I was really panicking that my package wouldn’t be there.     I have a negative experience with this company. At the same time my experience can also be called ridiculous and incongruous. I cannot get my refund 1 month despite number of verbal and writing promises made by number of Vivint associates. I first planned to install their system last December. The installation was scheduled to January 4, 2019 and deposit of $45 plus change was paid via my credit card in mid-December last year.

    Due to some circumstances including negative reviews about Vivint found in the Internet, I decided to cancel the installation December 20, 2018 via both email and phone. I also asked for refund. The cancellation and intention to refund were confirmed during the phone conversation on December 21, 2018. January 3, 2019 Vivint suddenly informed me that the installation still appeared to be scheduled for the next day. I called Vivint again and spoke to particular person and she also sent me email-confirmation dated January 3rd, 2019, saying "Your refund will be there in about 3 to 5 business days if it isn’t there within the 5th business day then go ahead and give us a call at 385-219-3145 and we will see what we can do." Obviously, no one even tried to send me refund since December 21, when the intention to refund was declared. I‘d like to know why they did not, but, probably, I will never get an answer to this question.

    Today is January the 20th and still no refund received. When I called their customer service again the rep said that they sent me the cheque and it will take up to 20 days to receive it. I asked the rep why the refund cannot be done using credit card and why it takes so long. She could not answer by herself and put me on hold while getting the information from another department.

    After she was back the answers were the following: they do not have my credit card number - only last digits, 20 days because the cheque is sent from Utah office. Who knows how the payment processing system works probably would laugh, while I’m wondering if that person said she can see only last digits really thinks that what she can see on display and data stored in the system are the same. Who knows where Utah is probably would laugh too – as I remember it is still in North America but not in Antarktida. To deliver standard mail from US to Canada takes 4-7 days (I double checked). Probably even post pigeon would be arriving faster than 20 days.

    They took my money much faster they give it back. Why the person I spoke with on January 3rd misinformed me about the refund terms? By the way, I wrote her again and she responded me today with “Looks like the refund was process on our end on the 3rd of January. I would contact your Bank to see why it has not been deposited in to your account.”

    After I asked to verify details of how it was sent she responded “We sent it over to your Bank on the 3rd of January. They can hold it for an addition 7 to 10 business days before depositing it into your account.” Mentioning deposit to the bank means every department in this company has its own point of view how refund process should look like besides the only obvious one that is stored in the system under ‘payment method’ since the moment my payment was received. Usually the refund is made the same way the payment was received, so credit card payment should be refunded back to the same credit card – it’s also faster. I think for business that works in the security domain it should be more organized more responsible and accurate in terms of customer service and connection between departments. Being disappointed with how the case was handled I’m very glad for being saved from becoming their customer.

    One summer, Vivint was in my neighborhood and they were knocking on doors. Nobody else had come to my house. They were here and I thought of not wasting time. We needed to have an alarm, we just bought the house and moved in to the neighborhood. Their people were like experts in this field. The salesman was very nice. He explained from the get-go thoroughly and slowly. There was nothing that I did not understand what he was saying, gave me some good deals, and was very professional. He asked me why I needed more protection, and we talked about that. We also talked about the fact that I could monitor my house at all times in every room. He advised me where I should have the monitors, cameras, and glass breakage monitor, and I liked that idea. I thought that was really neat.

    When the installer came in, he stayed at the door and had decent clothes. I walked him to the entire house and told him where to put the cameras and I proceeded to do my house chores. He did it and it was fast. I asked if he was sure and he took me back over everything that he did, took me back to the panel, how the alarm works and what it does, sensors on the different parts of the house, cameras, the thermostats. Even the door had a little digital lock.

    He updated my phone and showed me how to load up the app. I could monitor my house all over everything, making sure that if anybody that would come to my door and ring it, I could always answer wherever I was. It was nifty and liked it. It was incredible and I was very pleased. Before the guy left the house, I wrote a long list of phone numbers and people’s names and addresses of all of my friends, relatives, my own children. He sure went by, and I called the people and told them that they needed Vivint in their house, and everybody on that list went with Vivint.

    The security system I had before with another company was a regular system with the panel and no cameras. With Vivint, their cameras are what got me. I like them. And it was the same price as what I was paying with the other company before. Also, I was able to customize the system. I got three main cameras and a panel, which I really needed. Their installers were nice and they installed everything correctly and quickly. But, I would not tell anyone to get their system.

    I constantly have trouble with my panel freezing. A week after it was installed, it froze on me, and Vivint had to tell me how to reset it again. It's a little bit annoying because I have three kids and my husband works out of state constantly, so I'm by myself and half the time, I can't even get the panel to work. When my father-in-law came over to borrow my barbeque grill in my backyard, the cameras didn’t catch him at all. I didn't even know he grabbed it until I went outside and it wasn't there. Also, half the time, it doesn't even record the who people ring my doorbell or drop off packages. If I called every single time I had a problem with Vivint, I'd be on the phone with them every other day. And I've been constantly dealing with this the entire year that I've had it.

    A friend told me about Vivint and I got it. Their sales reps were good and I didn’t have any problems. Everything went really well with them. I have the doorbell camera, the front yard camera, and backyard camera. I have the panel, glass panels, the carbon monoxide/smoke detectors, and some other stuff with my system package. We had some problems with the installation where we had some issues with the communication between the Sky panel and my other panel, and apparently, the cameras as well. An extra modem had to be added which helped the situation. It took about six months and about five technicians to come out to finally figure it out. The four technicians were not used to the particular type of set-up I wanted. They were trying to discourage me from going that direction, but I was paying $5,000 for a security system and I wanted it the way I wanted it.

    Every technician that came out told me something different. But they were very good and patient because they were there for hours. They never got anything fixed, though. It wasn’t until the last guy came out and said things weren't right. They put something too far away from another thing. We needed to put something in and it should be good to go. Since the last guy left, everything has been great. But it was kinda disheartening that it took that amount of time and that many technicians to get the system right. That aside, I'd still tell friends to go with Vivint because overall, they have a great company. The customer service has always been good. To me, that’s the most important thing. They always try to help.

    I'll try to keep it short. I ordered a system. It was scheduled to be installed a week later. I had to postpone the installation. Installer called me and said I would receive a pin for a survey. It meant nothing and he would take care of it. The next day I got an email thanking me for filling out the survey and welcoming me to Smart Home. The survey said the install went perfect and the installer did an excellent job. When I called him, he said it meant nothing, he had to close out the order to move on. Then the emails came showing the first payment was taken from my credit card.

    When I called customer service, they didn't believe me and had to send someone out to verify there was no equipment in my house. They were going to send the same installer that lied about the install to verify he didn't do the install. Finally a regional manager called and took care of it. He asked if a few months of free service would make up for it. No your people are dishonest. Not what I would call trusting.

    We wanted to have a cam in and out of the house so when we travel, we can check on the house and security. All the companies didn’t offer the same thing, which made us go with Vivint. Everything went smoothly with the interactions with the rep. However, the thing they gave us keeps telling us that somebody is in the front yard, the back yard, or inside, but there’s no one there. The system is too sensitive. I called a couple of times. They fixed that and it got better. Then last night, the issue went back and did the same thing. It was a little disappointment. When I called, they told me I had to pay a service charge. I don’t understand how they want me to pay for a problem that comes from the equipment. The system's quality is okay except it’s two or three seconds behind. Plus, there’s no live.

    The system that I've had was old and I wanted something new. The sales rep was a little pushy and chased me about the Vivint security system. Then the installation took a lot longer and it was a nightmare. I had several security systems in the past but it didn't take time at all so I don't know what was the deal with the Vivint system. Then it didn't run right and there was something wrong with one of the cameras. Sometimes, there would be somebody at the door but I couldn't see the picture. The technician said it was something somebody else had left out or done. With our experience, it was always been the same people coming back. They need to have someone come back to fix it. Then they double billed me. I got a bill the other day and then today, I got another one when I've already paid the $37 one.

    Where do I begin? My experience with Vivint has been shockingly terrible. I was so excited when I purchased my first home and got my Vivint system installed. I loved the idea of being connected and all of the “smart” features. Unfortunately, I had a scary stalker situation and my system was hacked multiple times, to the point the panel became inaccessible. This person was getting into my home when I was gone with no notifications and without setting off the alarm. Every tech (all the techs have actually been excellent) who came out said the code had been changed, so they were unable to access the panel.

    A couple months ago, I was raped in my home by the stalker. The police questioned the security system, and I explained the situation. They were very upset by the fact I was paying $70 a month for a couple years for something that wasn’t working. I told them there wasn’t much I could do because I signed a contract. They suggested legal action, but I didn’t want to deal with that in my frame of mind, so I tried to work things out.

    I called another tech out. He spent 4+ hours fixing everything. At first, he was a little skeptical when I explained how the system had been hacked. However, once he got into the panel he realized something was very wrong. He also helped me called my ISP to get my IP address changed and to get everything reset, as the stalker had apparently blocked the port allowing VPN. The tech was very apologetic and said if I called customer service, I could get a refund on at least part of the months during which my service didn’t work.

    When I called Vivint CS, I was transferred multiple times. I finally spoke to a man who offered to lower my bill by $10 a month for my troubles. This obviously wasn’t great, but spending $60 a month for paperweights (my term for the useless equipment) is better than $70, right? He told me he’d just need a verbal yes after he read an agreement, during which I realized he was trying to sign me up for another YEAR!! After I told this man I’d been sexually assaulted in my home and the police were involved and how the system has NEVER worked, he tried to make me pay MORE MONEY in the long run for something that is absolutely useless to me.

    After I told this person, “no, I’m not interested in paying you another $720”, he quickly dismissed me and transferred me again. The next woman I spoke with told me the tech must have misspoken because they don’t give refunds unless someone has called in a lot. She also requested for the detective to contact Vivint regarding my case. I told her I could have them do that, but because they are extremely busy and it’s not really their job to do that, was there a more direct line? She said yes, and proceeded to give me the exact same generic number I just called.

    I’m at a loss now. I don’t know what to do. I have the police report from the assault, I have proof this individual was getting into my home when it was armed. I tried to deal with this in a decent way, but it’s insulting to watch my hard earned dollars flushed down the drain each month. In no way am I getting the service I signed up for.

    I was at Best Buys and I saw Vivint's product. I talked to the sales rep there and I ended up signing up. Their installer did a good job. The installation took a lot longer than he had anticipated but he was friendly and he knew what he was doing. He got everything hooked up and functioning, then he showed me how to operate and program the system. I also called Vivint and their reps walked me through the different ways of setting up the system and resetting when I need to. They seemed to be knowledgeable and very easy to communicate with.

    So far, I have a little bit of a problem with one of my cameras as there’s a little bit of a distance from the control panel. But the bigger problem is not really with Vivint. It’s with my wireless internet company where I keep losing the signal and I have to reset everything. So I’ve got one camera that’s not functioning right now and the part that records the thing is not functioning, too. I’ve got to call them and get them out to reassess that. Otherwise, the camera seemed to work and the system works well, too.

    Initially, I spoke to salesperson that very pushy and left out important information which is needed to make an informed decision. Then a young lady name Sam won me over again the way she handled the call. Afterwards the nightmare began, it led me to sign the Notice of Cancellation after they installed. The installer would not start until he could confirm me by asking for a credit card. Actually, he used the credit card to set up autopay without my consent and he did not explain it either. He proceed to install without finding the stub in the wall so there were 3 holes drilled at baseboard and 2 holes drilled for the outdoor camera.

    It upsets me more because he tried to hide the 3 holes by placing boxes in front of it. Secondly, he made a huge hole in the sheetrock for the security panel and I did not see it until an experience installer re-position the panel. Therefore, I had 1000.00 worth of damage that Vivint paid $500.00 to repair. By that time I was exhausted and very frustrated with dealing with them. Now I'm locked into a contract with Vivint.

    I was searching online for web-based security and smart home technology. I found Vivint and it seemed that their customer service was very good. When I spoke with their rep, he seemed fairly easy to work with. It was a great experience with the sales team, as well. I had several questions and didn’t make a decision right away, and they were just very patient. I found them to be pleasant and helpful too.

    The installation went very smoothly. The installer was great, highly skilled and very neat. Also, the features of the system have been very user-friendly. The only problem is just that a lot of the sensors are battery based and you have to make sure that you’re changing the batteries all the time and keeping everything fully energized. Although the technology will let you know when something’s low and where it is, it’s tough to get to some of these sensors where they put them like garage doors and high windows. There are also inherent problems with the system when you’re not there all the time. But if it's for the home that you live in, it's great. I would recommend Vivint.

    We moved in May of '18 and I called to cancel (suspend) my service until we were settled in the new home and called to have a technician install our equipment. In January I called to have this done and noticed I had still been making payments monthly. I told them I would like it refunded and someone to install the equipment. They told me the 'move team' would review the phone call to determine if I actually cancelled service in May. I called back the next day and they said they could not definitively confirm I wanted to cancel. Apparently, when I called to cancel, it was just to have a 30 minute chat with their awful customer service for the fun of it. So, in short, they collected payments for system monitoring on equipment that was not hooked up. They sell equipment and a service to keep criminals out of your home, all-the-while stealing your money for serviced unrendered.

    Do not buy this Alarm. They had to come out to my home 5 times to fix the alarm box, the cameras and even the door locks. I had so many issues. They said the next Issue I had they would cancel my contract and we could part ways because the system did not perform as they said. The very next week we had another issue. When I called the customer service line they had no record of this being said to me. So I had them listen to the phone conversation and they did indeed hear when the rep/supervisor offers this to me and they still did not honor it. Now they are threatening to go to court!! Please DO NOT BUY this Alarm system. Save yourself a big headache and HORRIBLE customer service.

    The Vivint customer service sounded really friendly, walked us through the process and all the technology they offered, and did a better job of selling their products. The rep was very professional and was good at his job. When they came out for the installation, the guys weren’t completely prepared with all the stuff that we wanted, but they didn’t charge us for those at that time. We scheduled another appointment and after a week, somebody else came back to finish the installation, and then we paid for it. The guys did a pretty good job and the installation went fairly well.

    Our service package got the basic doors, windows, some cameras, and some smoke detectors. And the smartphone features are very convenient and easy to use. It's nice to have all those at your fingertips. The Vivint security system is better and having it on the phone, we know that we have security 24-7 from wherever we are.

    We had called a few of the local security companies when we first bought our home, and we were discussing it. We had never made a final decision on which one to go with, and we had never heard of Vivint until a sales rep came to the door. He sat down and talked it up. We said that it is affordable and it's got the doorbell camera that we wanted because we wanna be able to see what's going on. We have a three-story townhome, so our front door is ground level, but our living space is up there so it's good for me to be able to see who's at the door before I go running downstairs and opening it to somebody who I don't wanna open it for. We like that feature and the fact that we could talk through the panel through the doorbell. We also like the price, it was okay.

    The product worked fantastic for the first six months then it started deteriorating and we were starting to have problems. It would freeze a lot. The doorbell would not be triggered by anybody standing in front of the door. We would come home, have reached the front door, and the camera would pick up the door closing behind us so somebody would already be in my home before I could see who was even at the front door. When we first got it, it used to trigger when the sun would go in and out. It was annoying, hearing a ding every five seconds, but we liked it because it was going off. We knew it was picking up something. Now, it barely even works. It works when it feels like it.

    We've had people come out and change the doorbell. We've added Wi-Fi boosters. We've done everything. They were trying to tell us that the panel’s on the second floor, but it worked fine in the beginning so none of the techs that have come out here in the last couple of years have really explained everything. Right now, our issue is the camera doesn't have any Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi is on, I reset it, and it works for a couple of hours. Then it says, “Camera not connected,” and “Panel lost Wi-Fi." But it's right there.

    Another feature was the product's quality. The product will record for 30 seconds, then it takes 30 seconds to reset and start recording again. It's not a constant record for a minute until the motion stops so if somebody's doing something, we're not catching the whole thing. We're not really happy with Vivint's products and we can't wait to get out of our contract because we don't feel like it's doing its job.

    We have been a customer of Vivint for 5 years! I have 2 MAJOR ISSUES. Our camera was not working and we were out of town. I was very concerned and tried to call them. After searching and searching I was connected to some 3rd party sales girl that was only interested in signing me up. I spent another 30 min until finally I reached someone!!! They could NOT HELP ME AT ALL AS SHE CLAIMED I HAD AN INCORRECT PASSWORD. I’m not sure how this could be considering I know my password.

    My Realtor’s son worked for Vivint and that’s what made me get them. I have two properties with them and one of them has the old cameras. I don’t really have issues with those, it's just not updated and they wanted me to update it, but it will cost and I'm gonna have to sign another few years contract in regards to that. So, I just kept it the same. With the other property, I have issues with because the cameras are not clear and when it gets dark, I can't see anything. It was stated to me that they were night vision, which they're not night vision because if I'm at work working the midnight shift and I look around my house, I can't see anything. Under the light on my garage, the only thing I could see is the garage area, but when it gets to the side door, it's pitch black. Also, a couple of times, few people had to come out because the cameras kept going down. Other than that, everything is okay but when my contract is up, I'm gonna go somewhere else.

    Vivint is an excellent security system. I like all the quirks of it. I like that if you have a problem, you can call on the phone or call through your system and get help. It also has an excellent doorbell camera. The entrance to my house is trying to inset from the outside, and the doorbell is on one side and faces the other side. But even with that, the doorbell camera can see people and things going on out in the yard. The system was installed within hours of ordering it and the sales rep was very helpful, professional and was very honest about all the different things that I could get. I’m physically disabled and was having a really bad day physically, and the guy gave me the pendant for if you fall. He bought it for me himself.

    When my security system was installed, I was in the middle of getting new carpet so all my living and dining room furniture were crammed in the dining room. The installer climbed over it all to get to the last window to secure it. However, there has been some issues with the windows. The equipment detached itself and was hard to get reattached. We couldn’t figure out why, but one of the windows set itself off. And it happened at a really bad time. I was out of town and the police had to come and look at it and then just turn that window off until I could get home and have it looked at to figure out. But it stopped doing it. Other than that, it’s been a good deal. I recommend it to anybody.

    Vivint's sales rep was very friendly, polite and professional. He didn't push anything on us and he explained everything in a way that we knew exactly what was going on. Both times, the installation team came through and explained exactly what they were doing. When putting the different systems in, they first explained what they were going to do so that it would work properly. They were fast too. Then they called back about a week later asking if we were having any problems at all with the system. We get periodic calls from them asking about it.

    We redid the inside of the house first and had the alarm system on already. The alarm system works well. It has been accidentally set off a few times, and they called right away on the system if we were okay or if we needed someone out here for help. Our system has the alarms for the doors and when you open one of the doors, it'll say, "Back door open or side door open." We also have the glass break alarm and my husband set it off by accident when we moved here to the house. The new refrigerator had an ice tray and he twisted it to crack the ice loose when he wanted some ice. The sound of that set off the glass break alarm and we learned that the alarm really works. The fire alarm also has gone off a couple of times, like when my son was making grilled cheese and the heat was too high on the pan that everything was smoky.

    We had cameras in Columbus that we used, but out here, we're so far out the boonies and our internet system is really spotty, so we don't use the cameras out here. But I've seen somebody doing something they weren't supposed to do. Someone robbed a store and he ran from it. We lived about a block away and he came to our backyard. They called the police about that. We’ve had Vivint for about eight years and we've had no problem with it at all. I signed a four-year contract for this house down here and in February our contract will be up, but we're gonna stay with them. We like Vivint and we have recommended them to several people.

    Vivint is a good system and I like its features. I can go anywhere and activate it and see what’s going on. But I had problems with the installation and they ended up coming back three times to fix some stuff. Also, there’s also a lot of equipment malfunction. They have a thermostat that’s connected to the alarm system. But it was not good. When they came out to repair stuff, they damaged my AC system. I had to replace the condenser and redo wires, but they only paid for a certain amount of it and nothing else.

    I didn’t have as many problems with customer service and with the equipment before with my previous alarm system as I do now with Vivint. Their customer service people answer my questions, but I have a problem with their attitude. The technology part is good and I’ve recommended Vivint to several people, but I’ve had so many problems with their service that I just want to tear it off and be done with it.

    We've been with Vivint for at least four years. At first, we were very satisfied with the features of our system but not as much lately. We live in a small town. We have had a lot of issues whenever it comes to scheduling because we are so far out. Whenever we called to schedule, Vivint tried to send somebody who wasn't as close. For some reason, they don't use the guy who is closer. Their customer service isn't connected with the local people. Also, our camera used to report all the time but it does not do that now. We can't scrub through it and see. Our mailbox got hit the other day and our camera didn't pick that up.

    We had all kinds of problems. Vivint created two accounts for some reason. Our thermostat turned 79 degrees in the middle of the night whenever it was not supposed to turn on the heat at all. Recently, we finally got the problems resolved. During those issues, my interactions with Vivint were okay because I'm a little more understanding but it was not so good with my husband. He gets a little more frustrated.

    Before having Vivint, I had ADT and their only difference are the cameras. I didn’t have cameras with my other system so that was what intrigued me into getting Vivint instead. But after I did it, I kind of regretted it because I was almost done paying off my ADT contract, and I'm in this one. The installation of the system was fine but they were a little pushy because they wanted it done the same day. I had them move some things around, so they would install it the same day, so the guy came. That was a little inconvenient. The installer said it would only take about 30 minutes, but it ended up taking a few hours because the router wouldn’t connect. They had to end up getting a different one and put that up.

    Someone broke into my house before, and the cameras didn’t get anything so I was disappointed. The people at Vivint suggested that I get an additional camera but I already have one in the back. Then they wanted me to pay $400 for it, so I'm not very happy with Vivint right now. Their system always disconnects from the Wi-Fi. Even right now, my doorbell camera isn't working. They wanted to come out. But with work and I'm in school, I don’t have the time to take off for them to come out to look at it. Another thing is that I wish it wasn’t contract-based because if I could, I would just pay the equipment off and be done with it.

    A representative was going door-to-door and my husband wanted the camera where you can look at people when they come on the porch. We bought it right then and after it was installed, I’ve been having a lot of problems with it. Vivint had one person come out and fix it, but the camera keeps going out and I called about five times already. They get the camera back on, but then it’ll go back out again. I know it should happen every blue moon, but this has been constantly happening. The camera on the phone keeps on though.

    A very pleasant Vivint salesperson came to our door and explained everything about the security system to us. I had already been thinking about it because there had been a couple of break-ins in our neighborhood so we decided to go for it. We then went through things and picked what we wanted and we've been very happy with the package that we got. We've had problems every once in a while, especially when we first got it, and tried to get everything set up correctly. But the technicians were very good on the phone with us. When they couldn't resolve it, they sent somebody out, then got everything resolved to our satisfaction. And we're also very pleased with the response time.

    The other day, we came home, and we forgot that the system was armed. My husband had unlocked the door and turned around and started talking to me in the garage when it went off. Immediately, it came on my phone. I could tap it and tell them it was a mistake. And when we were evacuated for the hurricanes, it was really nice to be able to see our cameras, to see how high the water was rising around our house. Another thing, when we had our living room painted, our sensors were taken down for the paint, and we had a little bit of trouble getting them back synchronized. My husband called the techs and they walked him through it. Vivint's customer service has been great.

    I have had and continued to have a terrible experience with Vivint. It started with a doorbell ring at dinnertime and a nice young man came in to sell me the product. We let him in and we started talking to him. The rep said I would have cameras and I could open and close the door by my phone and change the heating and do this and that. I have a very nice, large and expensive home and I was very interested in the product. He was telling me all the things I could have in the end and he was doing something like he had to get a quota of sales. He said it had to be installed that day and I had to do it that time. I thought he was gonna come back and measure. In the end, I would’ve paid a lot more. I would’ve paid five times more to have an appropriate system put in my house, but what happened was he told me it had to be installed right then.

    A kid came. He had no ladder and had very few tools. He happened to be 6 feet 3 inches tall, so he stood on a bucket. I have a very high ceiling. The techs slammed the things on wherever they wanted to put them on and with no regards to the fact that now, I’m gonna have to do a new paint job. They were at my house until 1 o’clock in the morning and were supposed to come back the next day to give me a demonstration of how to work everything, but they didn’t. They would not take down my old system. They didn’t tell me that before they started installing. Now, everywhere around my house, I have the new one and the old one.

    They wanted to put the beautiful dashboard, which works very nicely, at my front door, but I said that I didn’t want it at my front door. I wanted it in my bedroom because if someone breaks into my house, I wanna be able to talk to the police on the pad and I wanna be able to do everything from my bedroom. My house is too big, but they wouldn’t give me two of the panels. My panel is too far away in my bedroom to interact with the one door that I can actually open and close theoretically with my phone.

    My backdoor is a glass door, which you can’t put the lock thing on that you would be able to use with the phone. My front door is stately and I wasn’t putting the cold thing on it, so the only door I could use it on is my side door, which would be great because it is still a way to get in and out and use your phone, and the kids don’t have to carry a case, except that it doesn’t work because it is too far away from the panel to communicate with the panel.

    The bottom line is it is a very good product and I wished it worked for me, but it doesn’t. I was oversold and underserviced. It was like a bait-and-switch. Right now, I can’t even set my alarm and my alarm doesn’t work at all. I go away on vacation and I have no alarm at all. I’m angry at myself because I’m a lawyer and I can’t believe that the whole thing happened to me the way it did. I’ve had people come three times to try to fix the side door to have the panel. First, they put it in and they put it in upside down. Then, the type of lock that they had wasn’t gonna fit on my door at all. The heating thing never worked upstairs and they wanted me to pay for half of it. I had beautiful Honeywell heating things, but they gave me their crap and it didn’t work upstairs at all.

    They came back three times and they finally admitted their system wasn’t gonna work in my upstairs heat. I got rid of all that and finally stopped paying for that. However, I’m still paying for the door lock, which doesn’t work. I have two other pads and for a while, I couldn’t set the alarm from downstairs or turn it off when I would walk in the door. When they had initially programmed it, they programmed it as a window and not as a door.

    For the package they were selling me that minute, I was only getting one camera. I wasn't seeing my house in my other rooms and they weren’t gonna hang the camera up on the wall. They wanted me to put in on my counter. The guy told me that I could talk to him forever, but he was gone and his number was disconnected. The salesperson who was gonna be my liaison forever was gone after September 1st.

    I’ve spent so much energy on Vivint and I’m about to call them again at some point because I really wanna try to get the side door lock. I replaced my front door and it is no longer hardwired and I can’t set my alarm. I have to bypass my front door to set my alarm every night. My front door isn’t even covered anymore, so I was about to call them and have them come out to see if they would do a visit, but when they come, they have limited supplies. All of my knobs around my house are brass and they wanted to give me a silver one as the locks for the door. It’s the worse. But the panel is beautiful and it’s wonderful. It would be wonderful to be able to use some of the services that they alleged I can use.

    They have to do a plan for my house and they have to take their time and tell me how it is gonna be installed. They have to tell me they are not gonna take down the other installation. They can’t leave me with having to do a new paint job without telling me I’m gonna have to have a new paint job. They can’t send an 18-year-old kid with a bucket and no ladder. It was insane. And they can’t ring somebody’s doorbell at 6 o’clock at night and still be there at 1 o’clock in the morning. I wrote the whole thing to the CEO on the website where you could communicate with him, but I never got any feedback. I’ve hung on the line for hours to talk to supervisors and managers, but they just forget about it. Nobody cares. In addition, all of the batteries and whatever they installed died within a month. Every single thing has been terrible.

    Probably the worst phone I have ever had. When we first signed up, there was a doorbell promotion just running, and by the time we signed up it was gone. But we were promised the next time they have it it will be honored. Even though we have 10 days to cancel, the doorbell promotion ran again and we called within the first 10 days. But because it was Christmas/holidays we were on hold for a long time and transferred from one to another person, and then the last person told us they will be closed until January 2nd. When we called again, I felt like the person who apparently was the manager wouldn't honor it for us and was talking to me as if he was reading off a computer. He said Even though we just signed up we wouldn't be able to get it and we were one day past our contract. Even though I told him everything before. Worst phone call ever and not happy with the service.

    I was told that the technology was based on frequency. I thought that was novel, so I decided to go through with the installation. Next thing I know, I drop my keys or my wife sneezes, and alarms are going off. Hair trigger based on decibels, not as I was told, based on frequency of the noise triggering the alarm. That to me alone, is a breach of contract. Rather they claim, I was locked into a 5 year contract with them. So they accelerated my contract due to non-payment, and send me to a 3rd party collections agency. Annoying phone calls. I contacted their Account Relations department, twice over the span of 2 months, no response. Only when I threaten social media complaints, do I get a call from their "Executive" level. Buyer beware, you have to have a strong wifi signal, God forbid a software upgrade that won't recognize your home network, or have them send you another wifi device to replace your own ISP wifi.

    My ex-wife did some research on what security company she wanted to have and we went from there. We got a glass break, fire and freeze alarm, sky control panel, and three door chimes from Vivint. I would have liked some outside cameras for all the doors, but my ex-wife was the one that spoke with the representative. I just paid the bill.

    I also would've liked the technician to have put the panel in a different area. I wanted it next to an exterior door so that it would be more easily remembered upon leaving and we wouldn't have an accidental alarm. I grew up with an alarm system with my parents and I foresaw that happening. I was not home when the tech installed it and he told my ex-wife that he would rather put it on an interior wall. He put it where it would make his job a little easier, as opposed to where I would've liked it. He didn't wanna run the lightning rod or the stick that he used to fix the line through the wall through insulation. He would rather just run it through an interior wall so he didn't have to deal with finding it through insulation. I wasn't very satisfied with that.

    Unfortunately, when I ended up going through the divorce with my ex-wife, I wasn't allowed to just assume the role of the owner of the account. I had to sign a new contract for two years to extend the account. At that time, I wasn't very happy about that. When my ex-wife had left me, I had lost a considerable amount of income, and I wasn't looking forward to the fact that I had another two years of a contractually binding agreement on a payment that I found hard to make.

    Some of the freeze protectors and some of the glass breaks can become dirty over time. I've had some problems with my sensors and had to turn some of them off. Part of that is my fault, procrastinating on my responsibilities as a homeowner. Vivint should do some research to find out just how long it takes in normal circumstances for the sensors to get dirty and recommend some scheduled maintenance on the customer systems. They could send new sensors for your glass break, freeze or smoke detector and maybe provide some guidelines on how to clean the sensor, rather than just having a technician come every six months. Overall, I'm satisfied with Vivint, considering that it's a wireless system. The batteries don't go dead near as much as I thought they would have.

    PLEASE BEWARE. We recently had our business office and our home done with Vivint. Everything went smoothly at our office until 48 hours later everything started falling off the walls that they installed and would not have anyone come out and fix it. That's really not a big deal - we fixed it ourselves. Now the day after we had our office done I had my home done as well. After the installer came out my wife came to me asking where some of her jewelry was. As we went and looked through our personal items I noticed I had 4 watches missing and 2 necklaces. I called and complained to the company and they told me there was nothing they could do about it.

    So a couple days later I am checking my bank statements and come to find out they took $661 dollars from my account without my permission. I called. They said sorry - was a mistake and it would be refunded. I never got a refund. Now again yesterday which was 30 days later they took another $697 from my account without permission. I called today they said it was a mistake again. They tell me they will refund my $ but they never do. So it cost me $35 each to cancel with my bank. So I am just warning everyone please be careful before you do business with this company as they can steal and lie about many things!! And if you don't watch your personal belongings or bank account you can be the next victim. Also one other thing. All their installers never had a background checks done and never had a drug test done. PLEASE BEWARE!!!

    We recently experienced a first time notification from our existing alarm system, indicating that a motion detector had been activated. Unfortunately, while the alarm company attempted to notify us, we missed their calls. Subsequently, the police were called and fortunately, it was only our pet that set off the motion detector.     Vivint has pretty good service and their technology is better than the security company I used before. In my package, I got everything that they offered. Every once in a while, stuff will go out. Right now, my garage door remote system went out then the garage door lock went out too so they're getting worked on. When I call Vivint, their reps' professionalism is always top-notch but their level of knowledge is not always the best because they are just reading off a script. Also, I usually request for their technician Tim to come out. He's fantastic. He knows what he’s doing, is professional, does a great job and fixes the issue.

    Vivint's service has been good so far. We got the window and doors packages, and we got the one that you can set it on and off at your phone. The installer was good. He covered his shoes, and he showed me how to work the system before he left. I had two issues and I got in touch with customer service, and they were prompt. They talked me through it. One time, I had an issue with one of the sensors, and they sent me a new one.

    I’m looking to obtain an outdoor camera, but Vivint couldn't provide that. The determination on what you get depends on what customer you are and what state you live in. I referred eight people to Vivint and the price has changed drastically. I called them and they told me that they got me down to $50 a month. However, I was paying more than that. My family and friends are paying the same amount or less what I’m paying but they have way more features than what I have. They need to be consistent with their customers. Every time I talk to my girlfriend, she got the thing you can unlock your door, the outdoor camera, the indoor camera, and the doorbell camera. They also gave her free Alexa and she got her free equipment but I didn’t get all of that.

    The reps were willing to assist but they didn’t resolve the problem. There wasn’t much that they could do. They told me to call back in November and they could negotiate better the options for me. They weren’t able to assist with that. Also, they charge every time someone comes out and I can’t afford to pay Vivint. I like the service that I have but they charge me everything on little things which I do not like. I’ve been with Vivint for three years and I will not renew my contract.

    The tech that came out was wonderful, my experience was good. The only issue is the inside camera, you can't see at night. There is no night vision, my alarm went off 3 times one night and I couldn't see a thing. Also the zoom in is crappy. Once you zoom in to see the face it's very blurry.

    I purchased the Vivint Home Security system in a house I used to live in about 4 years ago. The equipment never worked very well. The alarm would go off in the middle of the night. Every time we had a service rep come to check it, he would just try to sell us more equipment. The last 2 years we lived in the house, we did not even try and turn the alarm system on. I sold that home a year ago with no intent to move the equipment or have Vivint in my new home.

    I received a call about what I was not paying the balance of my contract which was about 6 more months. I explained what I stated above and it fell on deaf ears. I offered to pay $100 to cancel the contract that they still said I owed around $450 on. They did not accept my offer and now they have sent my account to collections. This is absolutely the most non-consumer friendly company I have ever dealt with and the products and service is CRAP. Do yourself a favor and avoid them like the plague!

    When my contract with Vivint is up, we're gonna get rid of them. We can get Cox for $29 a month, and Vivint is $60 some, and the system is the same. They got the doorbell with the camera, and the sensors in the house and on the doors. Whether you go AT&T or Cox, it doesn't matter. They all have the basics. We were with Vivint forever, and they made me mad because on my rental property, I wanted to turn the service off, and then they tried to offer me half the rate to keep it going. I told them they should offered me that all along. Also, Vivint's office is in Utah and Cox and some of the others are local. As far as them responding, which is maybe once a year, I've never had a problem with that. But if you get two people with the same quality product, and one is half the price of the other one, it only make sense.

    I like Vivint's equipment, but my sales experience wasn’t pretty good. Whoever I called in doing that sold me cameras and stuff that I wanted which I found out later were different and weren’t actually integrated with the system. Also, their people put the equipment in the wrong places and they had to keep coming out. They never would make it right. They put a bunch of holes in my walls and really screwed up. Then, they wouldn’t give me any paperwork on whatever that DVR system is that records. Since the equipment is not all under one system, I can see on my TV if I switch over to it, but I can’t get to see any recordings. Vivint should screen their salespeople better and find out that they have their own company selling their own equipment instead of the Vivint stuff.

    November 2017, my Grandmother passed away in an unfortunate house fire for which I had my service at. After which, A Vivint rep came out to investigate and retrieve what was left of their equipment. So by the house was deemed inhabitable until repaired. There was no need to continue service. Once repaired, the home was to be sold. I informed the Vivint rep of this but it seemed to be of no consequence to them only that the monthly installments were to continue with no regard of the circumstances. Worst, these installments were to continue with no replacement of equipment! I have discuss with a local attorney of what legal action I could take if they continue to harass me over this matter. Do not use Vivint security. Not sure about their solar division.

    A family member had Vivint and at the time, the competitor that we had was not willing to provide us as much as Vivint was offering. So, we switched and we have them for about two years now. The features of the system are good but one of the items does not work properly and I got tired of calling them to come fix it. It doesn't connect all the time to the WiFi, so sometimes I'm in the car trying to set the thing and it says, “It's not connected.” Then I have to get out the car, come in the house, and fiddle around with the panel. I've had them on here a couple of times but it still messes up. But when it works, it works beautifully.

    I would have also liked an outside camera besides the one that comes with the doorbell. I kept telling the guy who came out that I need a camera that shows the whole front yard but nothing was offered. I know they have it but it was not offered to me. I'm not so much interested in the doorbell thing because I've got gates, so nobody comes to the door anyway but I wanna scan the front. Aside from that, their prices are a bit high compared to the other ones. I know the other did not offer as many things as Vivint, but their prices weren't that high as Vivint.

    Other than that, Vivint's reps are professional. They listen to me and I understand that when I'm talking to somebody on the phone over there, they're not the technician. When the technician comes out, he says the problem was fixed but a few days later, it ain't fixed. So it's a combination of some positive and negative things, and it could be all positive if Vivint addresses my issues. I know I've got a contract for another year or so and I'm hoping they improve in something. I'd like to stay with them but I want things corrected, too.

    I emailed the correct information to cancel the service. The service rep told me that he will put it in the system to close my account. Next month I was billed again. I called again and I was told that it would be closed and that I would be refunded. I just saw that my account is still open. I called once again. I was told that I didn't send in the information needed to close the account and once I did they will take care of it and make sure that I will not be bill. I asked about refunding me the past two months. I was told that once they get the information from me they will look into it. So, basically I will have to call back and demand a refund. I'm not sure why this is so difficult but just be aware that this is happening.

    I have been with Vivint since May of 2017. At that time we had a young man knocking on doors stop by and "sell" us on this new Vivint security system. He did a good job, and what he sold us on was the potential saving the Smart Assistant would provide us. Here we are almost two years later and we have found it to be quite the opposite. Over the period of time where we had Vivint hardware installed in our home, we have seen a dramatic increase in our annual energy bill - almost $350. Regularly we see our home temperature spike to almost 27 degrees Celsius, with the set point never changing from 22 degrees Celsius. What makes this increasingly concerning is the fact that we have small infants and a large dog in the house. When the temperature unexpectedly and inexplicably rises to these temperatures (especially for infants who are dressed for much cooler temps), it becomes dangerous and quite frankly unacceptable on Vivint's part.

    I have consulted Vivint on a number of occasions to address this problem, and have not received an explanation or a solution to the problem. We tried a new thermostat, checked and double checked all the settings, reset things here, changed things there. All to no avail. The last support person I spoke to told me that the Smart Assistant "does strange things sometimes" and to turn it off in hopes that that would solve our temperature issues. Turn off the very thing that sold us on the system in the first place. The software and the app are full of glitches and is more of a headache than a convenience. There are plenty of other services out there that do what Vivint does and more, without the headache. The last straw has fallen. I will be pulling my service from Vivint, and strongly recommending to my extended circle and anyone in our community forum to do the same.

    The tech was friendly enough, but there was a few things I think can be improved on. He left before making sure we knew 100% how to run the control panel. The backyard camera image was flipped upside down and it was mentioned at the install. He said it would fix itself in time. After hours we figured out ourselves how to fix it in the panel. Also, I tried three different times, one time even writing it down, giving the name of the referral person to the tech, and he never took it, never wrote it down, nothing. Very frustrating.

    I pay Vivint over $60 a month for equipment that does not work consistently. Example: my doorbell camera is frequently offline and now the doorbell does not work at all yet the equipment is only about 6 months old. My second issue is the fact that I do not have a copy of a contract. The installer said it would be emailed to me, but it was not. I repeatedly requested a copy and the only paperwork I received is a list of the equipment. For me, selecting Vivint for my security has been a big mistake. I am now exploring other options.

We have repeated that call and bill still not adjusted and our account has been charged for full amount. Rep was to have corporate call us but as yet, no call. Cancellation policy has such small print you need magnifier to read.

    I would like to start off that we have had Vivint for several years and I have not had any complaints about their security system. Since October 29th my wife has been trying to cancel our service. They will not respond to her emails (the account is in her name). I finally, in the middle of November filled out a very bad survey about customer care and they began communicating with me. I spoke to a customer service rep. and was told that we needed to pay 52.06 for our November payment and then our service would be cancelled. I sent this payment in (the check has cleared my bank) and now I am getting "urgent" messages on my alarm panel that I need to contact customer service.

    When I logged into the account I see that I owe 52.06 by January 15th. I am getting the impression that I will need to take legal action to get the harassing phone calls and panel messages to stop and to get them to cancel my service, that should have been cancelled at the end of November. I will never do business with this company again and I will never recommend to anyone to sign up for their service. In my opinion, even if the actual product works, having extremely poor customer service like Vivint does it is not worth the time and frustration to deal with companies like Vivint.

    In my volunteer work, I've seen a Vivint camera doorbell and that's what caught my attention. I also had good recommendations from other people that had Vivint and they had no complaints. When I asked them how they liked it, they said they enjoyed it. I first went through Best Buy, but then I found out it was easy and better to go deal with Vivint directly. They were knowledgeable. It was an excellent service.

    The installation was also good. The installers were detailed and they followed up. But one thing though, the camera not always being online is sometimes annoying. The first time this happened was months ago and they said it wasn't too compatible with Verizon as a WiFi network. When I had ran into a Vivint sales rep not making a call to my house, I saw him across the street. He said he was there and they were working on it. They came and gave me a new camera doorbell. Maybe that was defective originally, but since they put this new one in, I haven't had a problem. I like the fact that when someone approaches my door or rings the bell, it goes to my phone and I can see who's there. I can also go back and review the clips. I also like the fact that I can activate it on my phone. I don't have to hit buttons and that's the biggest feature.

    The Vivint representative showed up at my home on a cold call. I did not want to talk to them but my wife wanted me not to be rude. Eventually against my better judgment we signed up for this product. After experiencing this foul product for the last 5 mo. I am ready to dump this whole pile of festering cow manure back on them. Nothing but problems. Cameras continually go blank for no reason. Had a service call that was a disaster - the moron tore up insulation and did not replace any of it. Lousy company and customer relations is like what you can do for them and why are you bothering them. We will be building a new home in a few months and this system will go in the trash.

    Had the sales guy come around and what he told me made me interested in the system. He also told me that I had 30 days to cancel so I signed up for the whole system - doorbell cameras, door sensors, the lot. They installed the equipment that very same night. Just over one day later the front doorbell isn't working, the camera isn't recording or notifying me of anyone at the door. I call the help desk and they were helpful and got the camera up and running but I still can't look back at any previous recordings and I was told it records 24hrs a day. When I looked up my paperwork it said I only have a 3-day cancellation period so I called up the rep who also called someone at the head office and they said it was only a 3-day period.

    So I am going to cancel - equipment that fails after 1 day and being told the wrong information. I don't have confidence in the equipment or the company and don't want to tie in to a 5-year contract and be worried that the equipment is going to fail, that doesn't give me any peace of mind and that is what I was getting the equipment for.

    The biggest issue I was having with this service was the doorbell camera constantly going offline until I found out that was due to a faulty old wire on our part. That was resolved when a technician came out and installed a new wire. Panel works fine except that it disconnects from the wifi sometimes. I love being able to control everything from my phone with the app. For these reasons (and others) I consider this a good company.

    However, I am sick of getting invoices saying I owe another bill at the beginning of the next month after I've just paid my bill. For instance, I just paid my bill on Dec.18 which is my actual due date each month and I received another invoice saying I owe another payment on Jan. 2. This is not the first time this has happened and there's been times I've spent extra money even due to late invoices on their part. It's like I'm paying for their mistakes. I would cancel the service but then I would have to pay my way out of a contract! So it seems like no matter what I will always owe extra money!

    My wife got hooked up with Vivint somehow and their price appealed to us. I got it because of the garage door. I used to get up at 5:00 to go to work, then I take off, but thought if I was able to close the garage door, I had to turn around and go back to do that. Vivint said they have that feature, but mine doesn’t work. I spoke to them about it when their technicians come out and installed my unit but they weren't able to do it. They gave me some song and dance about some systems that don’t work.

    In terms of the quality of the equipment, I know where I can disarm their unit at that middle console. I'll come in the garage door, and it'll start going off that I need to disarm. I walked over there, started on my first number, and it just went dead. I pushed my first number again, and all of a sudden, it'll come up twice. My alarm just went off at least, five times over the last four months. Then I had to cancel everything, install all over again, but it just won't do that first number. It'll hesitate with it. Their employees seemed competent people though and they were helpful.

    My wife has a business in the house so we were looking at something to make it a little bit more secure and Vivint happened to show up at the right time. The installation was okay and their installers were very professional. But they had to put holes in all the outside doors for the equipment that they have. I like how they integrated their equipment with some thermostat to run the heating and air conditioning. I like that aspect of it where it also can control the heating and air conditioning inside. It's also fairly simple to use.

    The in-house sensor that detects motion might be a bit too sensitive sometimes. It'll pick up little things and give us a little warning that something has gone wrong. I have more fan blades and it picks them up. One time, a piece of their equipment went out and the customer service reps were willing to just change the whole thing out at no expense to us because it was still covered under warranty. Vivint service is expensive but good. I'm satisfied with them.

    Vivint told me that I would have better equipment and price, however, it has not been that at all. In the very beginning, I told them that I wasn’t going to pay anything upfront, that I already had service. They had me sign on a tablet and it just showed a box, and they said that there were no charges. Then my first bill came and they charged me $260 for an install fee that I didn’t agree to. When I tried to fight it, they told me that the type of salesman I had was an outside service so they gave me their number because they wouldn't do anything about it, I had to go through them. Come to find out, they had no control over. I tried calling this place and calling Vivint back for about six weeks and got absolutely nowhere.

    When they came to install the new panel, they had to install four different panels before they could finally get one to work. Within two months, it started acting up and not working. I contacted them several times prior to when it would just start going out ‘cause it got worse all the time. It was like every couple of weeks it would go out, then it was once a week, then it was almost daily. They just kept having me reset it and right now with the holidays, I’ve been super busy and haven’t had time for them to come out and actually replace the panel because it’s completely not working at all.

    I had a service when the panel first went out. They sent out a serviceman to the house to check out what was going on ‘cause the doorbell wasn’t working either. He was looking at the equipment that I had in the house and come to find out, the only thing that is new that they put in my house which they said they were replacing everything, was the panel. They used the exact, same equipment I already had in the house, and it was supposed to be all brand-new. So they charged me for all these charges and didn’t replace anything but the panel. They just piggybacked off with the system I had and used the old system. I’m sick and tired of them, and I’m paying almost double, but I was paying for a system that works all the time. They send me surveys and stuff, and I started telling them out but they wouldn’t even respond to them. I told all my neighbors not to use them.

    A Vivint sales rep came to my house and he was very professional. He was informative, too, and gave me everything that I needed to know. He was great and he got all the questions that I needed answered. Vivint also worked with what I wanted for my system like the camera, doorbell, and a motion monitor. During the installation, the installer had to come back a couple of times because he didn’t have enough signal from the panel to the doorbell. I don’t have a big house and I've got repeaters all over the place because it doesn’t really communicate perfectly.

    So far, their service has not been the best. What I'm supposed to be getting from the doorbell camera is not what it's recording. I purchased it to make sure people in my yard were just moving past versus trying to do something destructive but I don’t get very much recording of any activity even though I know that there are people walking by or cars driving by or packages coming up to the door. Sometimes I get them and sometimes I don’t, so it's pretty inconsistent. If a friend asks me about signing up with Vivint, I'd tell them to think again because there's no solution other than buying more stuff or there's no way out of the agreement because the equipment is not doing what it was supposed to. So I would probably not do it again and tell somebody that I wouldn't do it.

    We were moving to a new house and I have two little girls. I needed security for the house so that I'd know that they’re safe even if I’m not around. It’s a brand new community and the Vivint agent approached me. That week, I also had another security company and they already shipped me the equipment. The Vivint rep has a different offer, a lot of stuff, so I returned the other equipment and I just went with them. The rep was knowledgeable. He was able to explain to me what I was paying for and what I was gonna get out of it.

    I have the double camera and the smoke detectors in the house. I’m able to control the features on my phone like opening the door for somebody if I'm not in the house. However, most of these services doesn’t work like they’re supposed to. My camera has been offline for the past six months. I called Vivint to fix it and they did, and within a day or two, it goes offline. So if something happens in my house right now, I can’t see anything. I don’t like that their service is not stable. A friend of mine who I recommended it to is also having the same problem.

    Vivint should make sure that their devices are stable as they promised because their services are not cheap. I’m paying $63 a month. Right now, I’m trying to get out of it, but l’m locked in a contract. I'm in a five-year deal, which means if I don’t like the service, I'm stuck with it. I called them twice to get out of it but I can’t because I have to pay almost $2,000 to get out of it. They should make their contract shorter, maybe 12 or 24 months, and if you don’t like it, you can get out. They should also make sure that the devices are updated frequently.

    We signed up from a salesperson knocking on our door, as this was something we wanted prior. I initially told him we do not have long as we had a prior engagement to attend shortly. Once signed up he was going to schedule our install, but oh it had to happen that day which was frustrating since we told him we had to go, and he previously mentioned the installs happen on Saturday. It must have just been that Saturday which he failed to mention. Install was chaotic and wasn’t installed to my standards, system works great though.

    A Vivint salesperson was in the neighborhood but he didn't really seem like a salesperson. He wasn't pushy and he just talked about what Vivint had to offer. He said that he wanted to give me the information and told me to call him if I wanted him to come back to talk more in depth. So, I signed up with them. During the installation, my interactions with the installers who came out were very good. They let me know exactly what they were gonna do and how long it would take. When they put the panel on the wall, they said that they were gonna have a bit of a mess here but they'd clean it up. And they did exactly what they said they were gonna do.

    When we first got Vivint, they weren't local in our area. They were based out of Louisiana and it was not hard to get someone, but it took a little time to get them out there. But lately, their response has been quick. They are more pricey than some that the local industry has but I'm willing to pay a bit more for a more reliable system. Plus, I feel like that I pay for what I get and I've been pretty satisfied with my system. Customer service is also very important to me and I'm usually loyal to the company that takes care of me. If I call in and have an issue, I would know they're gonna resolve the issue and so far Vivint has done that. We've had a couple of issues along the way with the panel which we deemed were due to the wires being pinched in the background. When I called Vivint, they had somebody out there who replaced the panel and I'm pleased about that.

    Representatives from Vivint came around knocking on houses and although I didn't want to go with them, my wife decided to sign up. She's regretting it now since they got us into a type of five-year contract. We interacted with the sales rep once but when it came to installing, he was no longer with them. The installation was rough at first and it took forever. We got the regular package that comes for the home but it's not worth the call, so it's not worth the price. It's something that's new around here that's overpriced and they're locking people in. It's a scam. They just want to take the money and it's nothing spectacular. I can go to any custom security and pay a whole lot less. Once the contract's up, I won't be signing back with Vivint.
