    Alarm activated itself several times. Only solution was unplugging and disassembling panel. I have gone twice to the hardware store and haven't found the right screwdriver. Reset should not require disassembly. I have very little time to deal with this. I will try again shortly.

    Equipment not the best and seems to be out dated. Your system can not be connected to a new garage door opener that was installed after I had to replace the broken one. Spend 2 hours on the phone with your tech trying to fix something even I kept telling them something was broken. Tried to charge me more money for items I do not have in place.

    Can't say enough good things about Vonz and Luke. You better keep those two. l am an old grouchy man that can be brutally honest... old house, old ways, old school. Vonz took his time to make sure that I understood everything clearly, answered my questions time after time... even though he had already answered them twice. Not once getting flustered.     The person on the call knew her stuff. Every time I've called the assistance was exceptional and better than other tech - customer support departments with which I've communicated in the last few years. The wait time was short as well. The tech arrived on time. Installation was a couple years ago and the young installers were challenged. They were friendly but not well versed on what to do. Apparently that has been addressed by the company. Presently we are satisfied with Vivint and would recommend it to others.

    Our alarm was installed when we moved in our house. After about a year and a half, if that, we stopped using it. In all that time we had at least 5 different panels installed. Every one of them had problems. Our outside camera never worked right. Vivint would blame it on our internet connection but we had the fastest internet we could get and everything else would work fine.

    One morning I couldn't leave my house because I couldn't disarm the alarm. I was on hold for 25 mins before someone came on the line to tell me I needed to take it off the wall, which I was informed at the time that no one but the installers should be doing that. After that phone call, that was what always had to happen. I asked that we just cancel our service since it never worked right. I was told that we would be able to if the next visit didn't fix our problem. Well, it didn't. I am still getting billed monthly for a service we don't use. It is very disappointing the way they handle things. They seem to just want their money and not care about customer service.

    Your salesman lied to us. He told us that our equipment payment was only for two years. I found out that I have to pay for 5 years. We still have 3 years to go. I would like to get out from the Vivint itself. I would also like to to give back the equipment, if it will get us out from under the payment. Your customer Service are helpful and friendly when I need to talk to them. I am always having to reboot the panel. Constantly tells me no internet connection. I am not very happy. And I don't know my order number!

    Always have to reset my system. Feel like I was ripped with purchasing this. Can't see constant feed. Someone was knocking at my door could not see who it was. System needed another reboot.     It took several service calls to finally correct our cameras from getting offline. Once we had an actual Vivint technician and not an outside contract technician (that was sent from Vivint service dept.) come to our house, the cameras were finally fixed. They still get offline from time to time, but usually come back online in a day or two.

    The initial offer and package were great or so we thought. But during installation, the installers took a big shortcut, very unacceptable. When they ran the power wire for the main display unit, which they didn’t put where requested because the placement would be “possible, but harder for them” (exact quote), so they placed it where it was “easier”. We should have held firm but we didn’t so that is our fault.

    But then after they left I found out the unacceptable installation of the power wire. Instead of running it down the wall internally as it’s supposed to, they drilled a hole completely to the other side of the wall (the garage) and ran it down the exterior of the inside of the garage wall and then at the bottom drilled another hole straight through again where it then plugged in. So now we have a wire running down the wall in the inside of the garage. Plenty of problems with that as one could imagine.

    Have made several calls regarding that installation and made requests for it to be installed correctly and professionally by them but after 4 years (stupidly signed a 5 year contract with Vivint) still waiting on that to happen. Outside of that service started out pretty good. And on that side at first we were pretty satisfied. Everything worked at first.

    But that started to quickly degrade. Performance of their equipment went downhill fast. The main display terminal unit after less than a year became very slow and laggy in response with any use. At times the lag of it several times almost caused it to go off or actually resulted in it to go off because it took so long for it to read what was pressed on it. That was too requested to be fixed and was told oh this update will fix it and then that update will fix it and then the next one will. None of them have fixed the issue at all.

    Asked to be allowed to exit contract with them due to the above issues which are pretty decent issues. But they said no unless we pay what we would have paid a month up to the end of the contract. Was a few thousand if I remember correctly. So basically we could leave if we paid what we would pay if we stayed with them but without their shotty equipment and what became of the once decent service. So have to wait out another year of throwing money away till we can leave Vivint.

    Additionally when we signed a big reason we signed is that we were told by the salesman that if we move we could take our equipment with us so that we didn’t have to pay for new stuff. About a year ago we were potentially going to move so I called Vivint to figure out the steps for that process. And they flat out told me, "Oh no you have to leave the equipment and buy new stuff for the new house" (not cheap). And told me that the other guy didn’t say that and eventually that the guy shouldn’t have said that but Vivint would not budge on this. Vivint has some ethical issues. And I had high hopes for this company but I could not and do not recommend anyone use Vivint. I can’t in good mind or faith ask someone to deal with this type of service when there are others who can and will do better.

    Additionally when we signed on with Vivint we upgraded our package for a wireless data storage unit originally called a space monkey then later called Vivint drive. It also worked ok at first slow but worked well enough at first. That performance quickly degraded as well by the time the first year hit. Then within the last year Vivint completely discontinued support of it altogether. So those of us who had it now have a paper weight. So please if you value professional installation, ethical business practices, good equipment, and good reliable service throughout your contract, DO NOT go with Vivint.

    Sincerely, A Vivint Customer counting down the days till the end of their contract. (P.s. I feel strong enough about this that I am and have been actively recommending against Vivint to all I know in both review forums as well as my vast professional and personal networking channels. Figure if they won’t support their paying customers why should I advocate for them.)

    Lost my job and had to sell the house. Now I can’t cancel the remaining 20 months of the 5 yr contract with Vivint. Either payoff the remaining 20 months, reinstall wherever I move, transfer the service to other person (which I don’t think is a true option offered from them). So, no matter what, never accept any contract, no matter how many pennies you will save. Not with any supplier, all the same. Better have no alarm.

    As for Vivint, during those 40 months, had a lot of issues with camera sensitivity while recording, no matter how much adjustments I did (under their guidance), it never worked. It could, under the same circumstances, record or not any activity. Inside camera became blurry during the third year. So many times the alarm triggered and no call was received. (Activated inadvertently while home.) Online monitoring is a mess, keep changing the formats, issues while accessing, etc. video format compatibility issues, etc. Asked to move equipment and the options was to install new equipment, sign for a new contract, leave the "old" equipment behind. Or remove actual equipment myself and relocate reinstall myself at new place, or pay $160 for professional installation. There is no way to win with these guys. Unfortunately this review has no means to confirm what I tell is true, no reference, no nothing.

    I hadn't even had this system for 5 months and it was 3 times calling into giving to get a new door sensor because the person that installed the door sensor did not use the right size drill bit and you could not get the cover off without destroying the sensor. Then I still had to pay the shipping and install it myself or wait 3 months for the tech to come out to do it. I have another door sensor that will have to be replaced because of the same thing above. I just hope the battery never goes dead. After I had the system 9 months Vivint wanted to raise my rate which it was suppose to stay at the price I locked in for life, Vivint has tried raising my rates twice now. So in that aspect I gave a poor rating. On the flip side I like the phone app and as long as the system keeps working everything is great.

    About once a month, my panel disconnects from the wifi router that Vivint installed. The first time, it took hours for the technician over the phone help me reconnect it. Now, I know that the best way to alleviate this problem is to unplug the router for 10 seconds, reconnect the power, and the problem resolves itself after a while. I wish that the panel would alert me when it happens. What if it disconnects when someone is trying to break in my house and I can't pull up the video because the router was disconnected and I didn't know? That's the most frustrating piece of this system.

    We had everything working correctly but the doorbell and an installer came out to fix the doorbell and when they disassociated the devices with the panel to try and solve the problem it broke the smart home commands through Google and Alexa smart speakers. After 10 + phone calls after a 6 month period the best solution was to have my wife set up an Alexa speaker with her email address and Amazon account, this is not ideal because she doesn't have all the skills and related Google and Amazon details setup and doesn't have an interest in it. I gave up contacting customer service to get the account working as it originally did; they even created a ticket to the dev team and they "couldn't reproduce the problem." If I hadn't invested so much in the hardware we would be looking for alternatives.

    I bought this system only 6 months ago. That was my first mistake. It has not gone a month without something going wrong. It's one thing after another... Today (June 18 2019) I had a tech here to check it out. The outdoor camera worked for a whopping 30 minutes and it's down again... BTW it was working fine when he got here. Because I bought this system it cannot be returned. Save your money shop elsewhere.

    Please be advised that it is very difficult to obtain good customer service with this company. When technical questions or issues arise, the service department attempts to talk you through the situation on the phone. Often, the technician is not very knowledgeable about the equipment, so this is a lengthy process. Then, if it is determined that a service call is necessary, it can take several weeks because they are not local. When we decided to discontinue our service, we were not informed that it takes 30 days to process and were charged for an additional month. Overall, this is a frustrating business to work with!

    Drew stopped by and discussed new Vivint security system. He had sold us our security system about 10 years ago. He explained there have been significant upgrades since our system was installed. He explained the new system and said it was far better than our older one. We said we weren’t sure we wanted to continue with our system, but asked if we could just try the new system for a month before deciding to cancel all together. We agreed to try it out for a month. He said he would send Mark out to install the equipment and go over the system with us. Mark was very nice and installed equipment in a timely manner. Cleaned up and explained system until we understood the information.

    DO NOT buy a home security service from Vivint!!!! VERY EXPENSIVE and once you are locked into their contract you do not get a break or change on rates. AND, they claim I renewed my contract verbally over the phone for 4 more years but can’t provide me with a copy of that verbal conversation without a Subpoena but they will have some call to discuss the conversation I had with this person. Managers and supervisors cannot help. Only this special department. I have been waiting 5 long years for this contract to expire only to find out they extended it 4 more year from a conversation I had with one of their reps.

    I will have to WAIT to hear back from this special department to transcribe my conversation to me. DO NOT USE VIVINT!!!! Watch what you say and what words to use in a conversation with them. DO NOT USE VIVINT!!!! Sitting and waiting to hear back from them. Definitely will update this when I have a conversation with them. SO ANGRY to be taken advantage of....

    All in all I am pleased with the product. After a long day at work, I didn’t appreciate the hard sell. But because I have already done prior research on Vivint comparing it to another company both for pros and cons plus the fact that the current company I was with had just raised my monthly fee, made it easy for me make a change. The only thing I don’t like is the bright Vivint sign on my front yard which doesn’t even have my house number on it. I will have to move it to a more subtle location. If you have decals, I would prefer that as well.

    The wiring is placed through a hole in the wall covered with a glob of clear glue. Also I did not receive any signage or decals. I did not receive a water alarm. The technician was a nice guy, but his work was shoddy. He did not clean up after himself at all. I Have uploaded pictures of the shoddy wiring and the mess left behind.

    We arrived at 8am and left 1:30pm. The appointment took 5.5 hours. Along the way, the tech encountered a shocking number of error messages and obstacles. We had to call many different Vivint departments many different times. In a word, it was agonizing. We intend to part with Vivint as soon as possible. This was our first impression of Vivint. What should have been a routine account takeover turned into a 5.5-hour disaster. Our tech did persevere and get it set up eventually. He said it was an older “go panel.”

    I decided to try Vivint doorbell and garage door and backyard camera. The salesman name David gave us a piece of paper, said we had 3 day to try before canceling. Well after the first night we decided we didn’t want it. Our garage door started open by itself several times. When I called David he tells me to get up there and unplug a wire. I told him to come get the equipment out of my house. We went and spent 25 dollars to overnight the cancellation letter for the service and I called David 4 more times, each time he say if we fix the garage would we stay.

    Then he stopped taking my calls. I get a letter in mail saying I have been approved for financing for 60 months on the equipment. I call them back and they switch me over to Vivint because they say there’s nothing they can do. I didn’t cancel in time. I was supposed to call. The paperwork he gave me was worthless **. They said he should have gave me a number to call so they call the sales rep. He says he did give me the phone number to call. I said why in the heck would I pay 25 dollars to send a letter that had to be sign for rather than make a phone call?

    Finally they found the letter and said that they was going to put everything back as it was in my house. They even got my ladder out of my garage and left it out in the weather for over a month. We had a old sign of a different company. He took my sign and the tech told me today David has it on his wall. Don’t trust a word that comes out of his mouth. He like being on his phone his mom. "Love you mom." All that kind of stuff trying to pitch a sale. He is a liar. Thank James.

    I had always wanted a security system so when the rep came around I was very excited! He was a wonderful guy, very good at his job and very informative. I got a good(ish) deal and we were very happy. Until I told my landlord about everything and she was not having it. I called and messaged the rep that came by about everything, told him that I needed to cancel it until I moved, but I was still very interested in having the service especially when we settled into our new place.     Installation took 2x as long as quoted and everything stopped working the next day. Had to threaten to cancel and ask for the Tech lead to come to fix it. Works 70% of the time now. The front camera picks up sometimes but not always. The back one still doesn’t work. They sold me smoke detectors and told me after the fact they aren’t licensed yet in Texas. Terrible experience.

    I'm not sure where to start because every step along the way has been amazing. Colin was the greatest representative I've ever met. He was very informative and well versed about how each product could benefit me in my home. He made sure I would get the best protection but still made sure I had the essentials that I truly wanted. I thought the best part for me would be the doorbell (which I just love), but it's the keypad door lock that is winning me over. I absolutely love that I can open my door and not actually be in the house or at the door. My daughter runs in and out the house so much without locking the door this gives me a thicker blanket of security. I can lock and alarm my house from anywhere with the Vivint app.

    Now let's move to this doorbell, AMAZING... You get real time live feeds from the door bell with an amazing range to capture the videos. What makes it even better is that not only can you talk to them you can hear them too??? I finally was able to find out who keeps letting their dog use my front lawn as a bathroom. All in all this was the best choice I've made when it comes to security systems. Easy to use, same day service, and great customer service. Yes, my system was installed the same exact day 15 minutes later to be exact and they vacuumed up their mess and re-explained each item they installed.     We first obtained a home security system through Vivint back in 2017. For a while it worked well. Then we started to have issues with cameras dropping the video feed. Then the doorbell camera started going down. They told us it was because of the size of our house, so they added wifi repeaters. Still the cameras kept dropping off. Over the course of the past year, we have probably had at least 6 to 8 different Vivint techs come to the house and try to repair it. Today was the last repair tech from Vivint. He just threw up his hands and said this type of doorbell camera wouldn't work with my house and that I have to contact Vivint to hopefully get them to install a regular doorbell and then install another camera. Why can't they get it right? How many techs have to come out before I have a working alarm? Very frustrating!! I'm at wits end and am ready to get a different alarm company!

    I was in the process of moving into my house with movers coming in and out, was on the phone with somebody and sales rep walks in and starts immediately talking, interrupting my phone call and conversation with movers. It was obvious I was still in the phone and sales rep continues to talk over me until I finally have to tell the person on the phone that I will have to call them back, I hang up and sales rep doesn’t apologize in any way and just continues to talk while I’m directing movers. I wanted bare information and he continued to give me the whole sales pitch when I asked for specific answers and would have gotten through the process a lot sooner if he had just given me the info I asked for directly.

    Installation of thermostat was done incorrectly and wouldn’t turn on the AC, I contacted rep who stated I’d be getting a phone call from the technician that same night, never happened and had to sleep in the heat. Contacted rep again the next day and said the lead technician would be contacting me and he never contacted me. I wound up taking it apart and putting in back together myself and made it start working. They were supposed to take the old lock off the front door and put the new one on (different color) and put the old one on the back. Instead just put the new one on the back and left old one.

He made it seem like the alarm system price was all included in the service price. Never did we heard that our system price was going to be close to 1,700 dollars. We asked for the "next available" thinking the next day or two but the installer showed up 10 minutes later, but it was at 7:30 at night and my 85 year old mother-in-law already had gone to bed so we couldn't finish the installation but all the forms assume the installation is complete.     Just had a slimy Vivint "sales rep" at my front door to attempt to sell me a bundle w/ AT&T since Xfinity is "so bad & expensive". He insisted that AT&T Fiber - which is the ONLY way you're going to get anywhere near 100+ meg besides Xfinity - WAS available in my neighborhood. He KNEW this for a fact because HE had it in HIS neighborhood only 6 miles away from me. WHAT A DUFUS!!!

    So just to make him look even MORE stupid & slimy than he already was, I got a phone & called AT&T on speakerphone, to order Fiber internet - which of course, we were both told promptly it was NOT available here. (I have well over 3 decades in Gov IT experience, so obviously I already knew it is NOT here, & probably will NOT be in the near future). BUT that still didn't stop him from still trying to get me to sign up. I guess I do have to give him a bit of credit for his chutzpah. I would NEVER, EVER, get service from this company now, if THEY paid for the service!!!
