    My installation was great. My tech explained everything verbatim in full detail to me and my family. He also went over all emergency icons and the doorbell camera as well.     Moved into a new place with the hardware already installed. All I needed was to transfer service into my name. After 2 days of playing phone tag with the Panel Activation team I call back on the 3rd day determined to get my account transferred. I was transferred between 5 different departments. After I reached someone who was willing to process me they tell me my system needs a software update, which I couldn't do because Internet not installed yet, and we could not proceed without someone coming out to install. The internet blocker wasn't Vivint's fault, but that should have been determined on day one to prevent an additional day in delayed service.

    The service we received during the time we were contracted with Vivint was good overall. We were with them for many years. My two stars are based on the experience we had attempting to cancel our service when we moved to a new home. I tried cancelling our service for 5 months. Initial call was in June, and “official” cancellation happened in November. I called and spoke with Vivint on multiple occasions yet was still continually charged month after month and given the run around. A verbal cancellation on the phone isn’t enough. You must also supply a written cancellation. After they receive the written cancellation, they still charge you for an additional month.

    Just be aware if you plan to cancel, be on top of all the details and hoops they make you go through - they don’t make it easy and take advantage of their customers here. Despite multiple efforts over several months, they chose not to do the right thing and help waive the additional costs so ultimately I was charged for 5 months of service I didn’t receive. This is not how loyal customers should be treated. Unfortunately, this experience severely tainted my entire view of Vivint as a company.

    Had a salesman come and and told me a bunch of lies. The big ones being that I could cancel at anytime, and that the system would work with out WiFi. I recently got rid of WiFi and now nothing works right called to cancel, which I can’t do with out paying 2000. They send someone out to see if they can fix it and the guy shows up 2 and half hours late. DO NOT USE VIVINT! They are money hungry con artists.

    A technician from Vivint came to our new house to activate our alarm system and install two additional cameras. He was very professional, courteous and knowledgeable. He explained the system in detail and also recommended placement for the new cameras while making adjustments to the existing cameras.     I send them through mail the last payment and even the rebate that ADT gave me to prove that I am ADT customer. I work overseas and I got an email saying my buyout was rejected. Need to send my contract, where in the world will I get that, I am working in the desert of Argentina. I came home and had to play rough to ADT to get a copy of my original contract. I send it then they told me the time have expired by 1 day. Now they screwed me up. They wanted me to pay the whole

    Panel disconnected from WiFi. Over 4 hrs of self-serve trouble shooting with guidance of chat technicians with no solution. After I repeatedly requested for them to send a tech and many hours of running through my house to try to fix this with them having me repeat potential fix processes with no solution, they informed me it would be $50 to send a technician who wouldn't be able to fix it anyway. The last tech said she'd send me a new router, which never came. The cameras often catch snow flakes and rain, but fail to capture people and vehicles moving around the house. One good thing, the installer was great.

    Horrible horrible experience. My appointment was scheduled on a Sunday and I was contacted that no technicians would be able to come out. I rescheduled my appointment for the following Sunday and the technician never came out and no one ever contacted me advising he called in. I rescheduled another appointment 2 weeks later and no one even showed up. This is the worst customer service I have ever!

    We try out Vivint and from the get-go have problem with this company. The company is dishonest and their equipment is faulty and unreliable. Our camera doorbell started having issues shortly after it was install. The battery on the control panel is no longer charging after only having the equipment for less than two month. The front door keypad lock is draining batteries so fast, we have to replace it every few weeks. It gets too weak to do the unlocking mechanism, my daughter, now needs a key just in case it does not work. No notification on the control panel to let us know when it gets to that point, I think it does let us know if the battery is completely dead.

    The warranty for the product is only as good as the service contract is active. They leave that part out, they repeatedly inform me it had a lifetime warranty. After we cancel our service, the equipment, even though it's less than a month old no longer has a warranty on it. These are their equipment with their name on it. From the beginning their representative was dishonest, our sales representative had inform us that we had a certain length of time to try the system but was later inform that it was inaccurate.

    When we complain to the company about the deceptive sales approach, they were unresponsive. The sale representative, once he sold us his product, no longer would take our phone calls. We could not even leave one voice mail because his mail box with completely full. This was the contact know he gave us if we had any question. It's amazing this company had so many high review, yet on website like this, yet when I dig just a little into the consumer review, there are lots of people who would warn you to stay as far away from this company as possible. I no longer trust any company associated with Vivint. Including Vivint Solar and anything else related to them.

    Product fell off front door while sleeping which set off alarm at 5 am in the morning. Had to come down stair totally scared, shirtless to look around and see that the part came off door. This was put up in Feb of this year. Called Vivint and ask came someone secure the product better so this does not happen again. Was told, "Go to the store and buy two sides tape and put back up." So I will go to bed every night wandering if it will stay up or fall off and alarm is for someone in my house or part is off again. No feeling safe now. Thanks Vivint for nothing.

    I've had Vivint for about a year and to say I hate it is an understatement. It is beyond frustrating. This is exactly why I don't do contracts because now I'm stuck with them for another year. I have several issues with the app and company including

    -the app doesn't always work when I'm trying to lock/unlock my front door
    -the panel won't allow me to change the doorpad code on either doors
    -the doorpad needs new batteries too often
    -the doorbell videos don't always update so I don't have recent videos
    -the alarm can't be heard from the upper level so I asked for a second panel but they said no so I asked for the panel to be moved to my upper level which isn't an ideal location because now if I do have an intruder, they won't hear it

    -the guy who moved my panel couldn't repair the hole in my wall

    These are just the issues I can think of. I need convenience so the fact that I have to call them so often is such a headache. I'll never use them and never sign up for a contract service.

    The system has never worked from day 1. I have sent an email to refund my money within my 3 day right of recession. The tech was supposed to show up on Friday 11/1 at 11:30 - no call, no show! I’m very disappointed and would not recommend Vivint to anyone.

    I previously had a home security system which had outdated equipment and there were no plans for them to upgrade their system so I spoke with a Vivint sales person who knocked on my door. Upon agreeing to the service, the sales person had a technician arrive at my house at 9 pm (which was awkward) and told me it would take about an hour or so being that I already had 4 cameras from my old system, they just needed to replace the cameras. The technician didn't leave my house until almost 2 am. (Yes, 2 in the morning). Within a week of installation, one of the cameras had rain water and humidity in it which made it impossible to see anything out of it. I called and they sent a technician over and changed the camera.

    In July, 2 months after installation, I was trying to see footage of who or what was rummaging through my garbage cans at night and I saw that there was no footage nor ANY alerts in my system when there clearly was something going on with the debris left around my garbage cans. Again, I called Vivint and they rebooted my cameras and my system. Since then the service has been sketchy at best. All 4 cameras have motion sensors with night vision or so I thought.

    On the early morning of Thursday, October 24th, my side camera recorded 20 seconds of someone throwing some item at my passenger side window attempting to break into my vehicle. It only started recording when the flood light in my car port was triggered. It didn't show the individual approaching nor did it capture when he left. Mind you, I have a RING Doorbell camera that didn't capture anything nor did I get any alerts on my phone.

    The individual was not able to get into my vehicle because the window did not break however it needed to be replaced and I have $1,332 in damages to my bumper and my passenger side doors. I called Vivint and spoke with a customer service agent who informed me that the Ring Camera will "only record when someone is approaching the door directly from the front". That's not true because it has recorded me multiple times from the side of the front door. I informed him that I will be shopping for another service and I will call back to cancel.

    Today is October 30th and once again, my backyard camera and my side camera were offline. I called Vivint and I told them to cancel my account because I am done with them and their service. I let it be known that I am not interested in working out a deal or anything like that. I want my services cancelled, PERIOD. The young woman I spoke to informed me that my dashboard shows that all cameras are online and functioning correctly.

    While she was transferring me to the cancellation department, I checked the cameras on my dashboard and I recorded over 1 minute of the video attempting to live stream footage from the dashboard and then I just gave up. I spoke with a young woman from the cancellation department who informed me that I can NOT cancel my service unless I pay exactly $3,239.46, which is the remainder of my service contract. PLUS, I have to call Fortiva (the company I leased the equipment from) to see how much I have to pay them for the equipment.

    I understand that Vivint is not responsible for the actions of this individual, however, had they provided the services that I am paying for, had my cameras functioned the way they are suppose to, had their equipment given me the alerts I am paying for, the damage to my property would have been minimal or the police would have had enough footage to possibly apprehend this individual. Instead, I have $1,332 in damages to my vehicle and a $3,239.46 bill to Vivint for NOT doing their job and providing me the services I have been paying for.

    My advise: STAY AWAY - TOTAL RIP OFF. Please feel free to email me at ** if you are interested in seeing the 20 seconds of footage it did capture along with the next video taken to see how useless this system works. Since my initial call last week, the alerts haven't stopped and I have even captured recordings of headlights from cars that are driving by when the cameras are online. This company and their services are useless. Randy **

    I have been very frustrated with Vivint and the doorbell camera. I continue to have issue with it detecting and recording and have had to reset camera more than once and spent hours of my time on the phone with customer service, who is not always helpful. My doorbell camera is now not showing images or recording and when I call customer service, I spent over 30 mins deleting the camera and then trying to restart it. To only find out that maybe it is a software update issue, because adding back the camera fails. So instead, I have to wait for two hours for the system to update (even though it should do updates automatically). Then call back so they can help me add back my camera.

    It is ridiculous that I have to spend all my free time in the evenings trying to fix a problem that I am not familiar with, when I think having a technician come out to fix it would be faster and more successful, but of course that is an additional $50. To me the camera looks broken as half of it doesn't show an image and the color is way off, but again I cannot request a new product, until I spend hours resetting, removing and adding of this camera. Meanwhile, I am paying for a faulty product.

    The technician that came was in a hurry, told me he was not familiar with the system, and was very impatient about explaining the system to a new user. I was not told about how to manage this from an app on my phone, or that the thermostat is controlled by the same. He was unable to figure out why the system was telling him there was a door open when it was not. The owners of the home told me that when you unlock with the keypad on the kitchen door, it disarmed the alarm. He was not able to figure that out.

    I rented a brand new apartment with Vivint installed. I’ve been here a week and Vivint does not work. The thermostat is offline and I can’t control the temperature. What’s more alarming is that Vivint randomly UNLOCKS the front door. It’s unnerving to arrive home finding the door unlocked and to wake up in the morning with the door unlocked. The help desk ran me through the same trouble shooting steps twice, but that didn’t resolve the problems. I finally insisted that they send a technician to replace the faulty equipment. For now, I disconnected the power from Vivint, which stopped the door from unlocking, but the separate manual thermostat still doesn’t control the temperature.

    I have had Vivint for almost two years now. It started off great. Love the options provided and the app is fantastic. However, we recently moved. Upon reinstall a little over a month ago, our garage constantly goes in and out of connection with the system. It happens anywhere from 12-18 times a day. Every time it occurs, it then alerts me that my garage door is open (when it’s not) and doesn’t allow us to open or shut our garage. Most of the time; I don’t even know if my house is actually secure. Now, I get that issues occur, but it hasn’t worked since install and I’ve reached out the company multiple times.

    Each time, the techs walks me through the same reset, etc. and nothing fixes it. They have yet to offer a tech to come fix it free of charge so I’m writing a review because I’m tired of my home security system not working. It’s not hard to be a great company, but they just aren’t willing to spend the money on the customer service side of things. It’s sad honestly.

    STAY AWAY!!! This company is ridiculous. First, they make you sign a 5 YEAR contract, which is beyond crazy. Second, if something ever breaks and you need a replacement then you have to pay the $49 service fee to have a technician come out and replace it. Every. Single. Time. Lastly, we deiced to cancel after 6 years (well after our contract ended) and it's not a simple process nor do they tell you all the details. You can't just call and cancel, you have to send an email and then it won't be cancelled for 30 DAYS, yeah you read that right 30 days and you still have to pay the monthly fee for the month that you don't even want their services for and when your service is finally cancelled after 30 days you only get a partial refund of the monthly fee you paid AFTER you cancelled your account. If you cancel something it should be cancelled right away not a whole 30 days later. This company is a joke!

    When we first got Vivint everything was great, but everything has really started to go downhill. First our panel constantly says it’s not charging-but it wasn’t a huge deal since we have it wired into the house. Our cameras would routinely go offline, but restarting the panel usually fixed the issue per their troubleshooting process. Now, for almost a month, our garage door opener tied to our Vivint service hasn’t been working and both our doorbell camera and outdoor camera have been offline for DAYS and a reboot in the panel isn’t working this time.

    We called Vivint with the issue and asked to cancel service since it is a bit pricey, but we were told the equipment is NOT Vivint’s and is from a 3rd party and that we were under contract-This was not something disclosed to us when we originally signed up for service and the tech didn’t tell us we were signing a contract. So now we are stuck paying for really expensive equipment and HAVE to pay it off before Vivint will allow us to cancel service. Just to put it into perspective, we have been paying for a doorbell cam, outdoor cam and two garage openers for over a year and our balance on the equipment is almost $600. The Vivint account manager we spoke to was not sympathetic at all and wouldn’t offer a refund for the issues we have had this month and offered us a $25 account credit “for our troubles”. He also offered to send our a Vivint tech, but I don’t understand how they are able to service equipment that isn’t their’s?

    If you are on a budget, I would suggest doing a LOT of research before picking a monitored home security system. Once we get the money to pay off the equipment, we will definitely be canceling service and looking for a better service that is more affordable and more knowledgeable about their service and equipment.

    Vivint had been charging me for services that were never installed in my home for close to 3 months. They harassed me for money for services that were never installed in my house. When I contacted customer loyalty, they called me a liar (legit) saying I had those services in my house and that they were sending a tech to my home to see if I was lying (I was not). Vivint offered me a refund after they found out I was not lying and 5 dollars lol (legit) for my troubles.

    I had asked to cancel their services since they hadnt held up their end of the contract. Their car guard service has never worked from day one and they continue to take payment for it. They told me I cannot cancel my services and that I have to keep up my end of the contract, even though they havent held up theirs. They're thieves! They want your money! And you're basically paying 100 dollars a month for a quick link to 911. They dont monitor anything because if they did, they would know my vehicles were not protected.

    Everyone in customer loyalty are liars! They all tell you different stories and cant even get their stories straight. I really do hate this company.     I have only written one negative review in my life. This one is worse. Read along with me. I went with Vivint for our home security for the smart home integration and the fact that they would do all the installation for us. Reviews were mixed, but, ultimately… they seemed like they had strong technology. I was willing to spend the premium to have the work completed and everything integrated into a single system. Once the sales guy scheduled our installation, that’s when the fun begins. Had to have them come out three separate times to get it right (before the most recent issues, which would make it 4 trips) – total of 6 hours of installation.

    The first installation, they told me they couldn’t install the doorbell because there was no power outlet available (seems odd that’s necessary and annoying they didn’t ask about this over the phone) and couldn’t install the door lock because of what was currently there (a door handle integrated with a door lock). So, we rescheduled to have those items resolved. He left. About 10 minutes after he left, we noticed that the A/C wasn’t blowing cold air. We called him and asked him to come back. When he arrived, he claimed he knew the issue and it was a quick solution. He went out and decided to “jump start” the A/C by hitting the fan with a stick (seriously, I supplied him with a broom stick). It didn’t work.

    Fast forward 45 minutes, and he eventually called someone and they had him downstairs rewiring something by the furnace. Still not sure what he did down there, but, it ended up working, so, we dismissed it. I should note at this point, we have a very nice home that was a rebuild in 2002, so new electrical, plumbing, etc. We bought this house about 2 months ago and obviously had it fully inspected, including a separate inspection on the HVAC system – A/C, water heater, and furnace… everything was working fine. Prior to the second installation appointment, we hired an electrician to run an outlet right inside the front door.

    On the day of the second installation, I removed the current door handle so they could install the new lock, since they couldn’t do that part. They cancelled the appointment the day of and couldn’t reschedule for another two days. Therefore, we had nothing there for the next two days – no door lock and no door handle TO THE FRONT DOOR OF OUR HOUSE. (The irony of wanting a security system and getting a front door that won’t close/lock, is rather amusing). The next month or so, the system operated fairly well, although, we did have issues with the door lock not locking completely and one of the door sensors. Up until this point… all things I can deal with. But, the next part is where I have lost my mind.

    My wife and I took a trip for 5 days. When we came back from our trip, Fall had hit and it was time to turn the furnace on for the first time in our new home. Turned the Vivint supplied thermostat to heat and… nothing. No power to the fan, no heat, nothing. So, I called my HVAC contractor. They came out, charged the $99 service fee, and tested everything to determine the error was occurring from the thermostat. He said he could fix it by installing a Nest and manually turned on the furnace, which was blowing warm air. I told him that Vivint will make it right. I called Vivint and explained everything. We spent the next 48 minutes on the phone troubleshooting the thermostat, which required a number of tools. They told me they could send a new thermostat out and it would BE HERE IN 7-10 DAYS. Yes. You’re reading that correctly.

    They screwed up the installation of my system, made me troubleshoot it, and then told me that I would have to wait a week in my 55 degree house before they would ship me a new device that I would have to then INSTALL BY MYSELF. It doesn’t stop here. I was able to talk them into shipping the device to me in two days. It arrived today and I called them to help walk me through the installation. First time I called, it was a 15 minute wait time. It disconnected after 10 minutes. Called back. Another 15 minute wait time. Finally get a hold of them and we start the nightmare. Fast forward 1 hour and 13 minutes later (I’ll save you the details) and the same issue is still occurring. After nearly begging, they agreed to have an employee (i.e. independent contractor) come out to resolve the issue the following day.

    Guess what? I get a text (not a call) that they will be coming out in two days. So, we will now be heading into 5 days without heat in our home. We have no heat and the low temperature tonight is 38 degrees. BECAUSE OF VIVINT. I just called them and the wait time was 15 minutes to talk to someone. I asked for supervisor. That was another 15 minute wait time. He got on the line and told me he needs to make a call to another department. At 30 minutes now. Add that to the clock. This is an ongoing issue and has not been resolved. My total time spent on this issue? 10+ hours.

    I like the reps at Vivint. We’ve been having some issues with certain things, but they listen, and they take time to explain things to you. Most of the techs that came out here were good. We went to change a battery in one of the smoke detectors and it malfunctioned. So it went off with an alarm. I ran into the panel to try to turn the alarm off, and the panel was messed up. We had to shut it all down and get it turned as soon as they had come out and fixed it. But what happened was, they had a recall and they didn't tell us. When they have a recall on their products, they need to let the consumer know and not wait until it malfunctions.

    My husband has a very bad heart, and my son has cerebral palsy. If we had any kind of emergency, we can push the panic button and Vivint would automatically call people out here. But they could add an alert in their system where if they’re out and about out in the yard or in this area, it would pick it up. They should also improve the quality of their cameras. Other than that, I’ve tried to get my family to get Vivint.

I tried to reconcile any issues and was met with zero yield on the company and was told that I was still bound to a contract that I no longer am interested in supporting a company that dictates customer service the way that they do. I've been with Vivint for about 14 months and I started having issues about 12 months ago. Since then, I have continued to have issues.

    Vivint obviously is an alarm company, and it alarms the residents, notifies the resident on their phone and their panel, notifies the fire, and notifies the police. I've had instances, fortunately, that were false alarms, but my alarms still went off. The notification I get on my phone says that Vivint is trying to reach out to me to make sure everything's okay, but I've never once been contacted. That happened probably for 5 times in the last 14 months. I've had the alarm go off, fortunately for no good reason, just accidental with children in the house when they open doors and such. And I have a period of time to cancel or eliminate it. If it goes off long enough, which happens occasionally, Vivint is supposed to take action and reach out then I'm supposed to clear the room and make sure everything's good in Vivint's mind. That way I give them a password and everything's good if it's not a real emergency.

    I've called out to IT and I've called in to customer service. I've made every effort to try and reconcile it and make it better for me as a consumer since I'm giving them my money to do a job. At one point, I sat about three and a half hours with customer service, their loyalty team, retention team, trying to reconcile the issue, and it still amounted to absolutely nothing. I hate Vivint and I would do anything to cancel it. In fact, I've thought about paying to cancel it but I just don't have the upfront cash. It is absurd because I'm paying for services that are inferior and the only way to get out from under it is to pay them more money.

    Vivint provides a decent product and the door salesman is likable. However, the pitch is completely misleading. 1. There is a contract - just in the form of a loan. They may lead you to believe that "no contract" or obligation sets them apart from other home security systems, but that simply isn't true - you are just locked into a loan, which is essentially the same thing. 2. The cost of equipment is high. Very high. Because you pay for it over a 5 year period, it doesn't feel so bad, but it is much more expensive than competitors. 3. I was charged for equipment and services that I didn't have. Yes, it is my responsibility to read and verify accuracy of the documents I signed. Unfortunately, I didn't see this until a month later. I was being charged for a smoke detector that was supposed to be free ($100) and two outdoor cameras that I didn't have ($799.98).

    4. Installation is speedy and confusing. These guys literally drilled a hole through my brick home without verifying that it was ok. Later, that camera was removed and they patched the brick with wood caulking because "that's all we have". In summary, this is a very tech savvy company but they are essentially storm chasers who swoop into a neighborhood after there has been a robbery in the area and provide misleading information to residents about the costs and conditions of their products and services. My advice is to take your time agreeing to anything with them or you will be locked into something that wasn't what you expected.

    Vivint secures my home now. I've had them for a couple of years and the payments are being taken out of my checking account monthly. My experience with them has been fine, so far. But I have a problem with them right now. For months now, my glass security is not being protected. I have called them and they knew about that. First of all, they said it needs a battery and they were telling me that I have to go into that little box and put in the thing. I don’t appreciate that. I don’t know what type of battery it needs and I’m not gonna go in that little box because mechanically, I’m not equipped to do that. When I had ADT and said that something was wrong, a technician came out, and they rectified and took care of everything. So, Vivint should send somebody to correct it. If they can’t send a technician out to rectify it or put in batteries, I don’t want the system.

    I signed up for new service and was over-billed $600 for “takeover start” which the sales person put in and installer signed off on. The was brand new service and equipment. I also was billed $249 for a nest that could not be installed for some reason that should have been verified. Then told the $100 smoke detector I paid for will not notify fire department as the nest not installed. I could get a free smoke detector from local services if all it does it alarm. Lesson learned to read what I sign and not trust that it was explained properly and fairly.

    I already had a home protection through Reliance Protectron and my contract was just about up. The Vivint guys came around and I decided to try a different company for no real reason. I was happy with my service that I had gotten from Reliance but I would like to spend my money out and let other people get a bit every now and then. So, I thought I would try Vivint and it has been pretty good. After the salesman came by, the installers were there the next day, and they had everything installed. It was pretty quick. There was a little bit of difficulty, but there was nothing that they could have foreseen and that was just how the house was built.

    We had one alarm tripped one time and the police responded very quickly due to the call they received. I'm happy with it. The features are good too although I don't find that the camera link to the phone is very quick sometimes. I would get a notification if somebody rang my doorbell but I very rarely am able to get it to link up fast enough to talk to the person that rang the doorbell if I'm not immediately there. There’s probably a delay of four seconds and by the time it's able to link up and connect, usually, I can just see the person walking away. Still, I'm satisfied with my service and I'd recommend Vivint.

    Vivint Rep lied to me to cancel my ADT account, and use their security service. He said I had a landline and if someone cut the phone wires my alarm will not go off and someone could break into my home. They installed their service. When I called ADT to cancel. I was informed otherwise. I did not cancel, and called Vivint to come and remove their equipment. I stayed with ADT. I never received a copy of the contract I signed. And learn later that Vivint sent a negative report to the credit bureau on me. Although I had 3 days to cancel, I cancel in one.

    We’ve had Vivint's system for a while and it seems to work just fine. One day somebody knocked on our door, came in, and we discussed having it. They were really polite. First it was a young lady, and my husband happened to be off that day. He sat down with her. She was really nice and whatever she said convinced my husband. It was just a little bit funny, and that was really hard to do.

    I thought we would have some problems. Our neighborhood is pretty quiet, but things change in every town and this is now getting to be more of the central part of town so it gets more traffic and people that we don’t know. We live in a little cul-de-sac and we have about five houses for sale. They just moved people in to rent them for a while ‘til they can get them back on the market. We lived here since 1974 and we do not have but one original neighbor anymore. This is a military town. A lot get transferred.

    Vivint put the system in the same day. We’ve got the motion detector in one room that catches all the doors that come into the house if somebody walks a few steps. I don’t know if it’s still working or not. I imagine it has to have a battery and we can’t reach up there to do that. But outside of that, we’re doing okay. I’d like to have one of those cameras myself, especially if would be by myself for a long time when my husband goes on his fishing trips, and things like that. That gives you a visual but without having to open your door. We really appreciate what Vivint did. We’ve had the alarm go off by accident ‘cause we forgot we had turned it on and they still checked with us. I would recommend them. If they worked hard enough to get storm windows off, and then the indoor window, they will deserve whatever they can get.

    I originally wanted a wired system in my house. But somehow in the construction, there weren't any wires put in because the contractor thought that a wireless system was better without telling me. When I moved into the house, I was gonna go with the wireless system from this particular company had these obtrusive huge boxes that went on the windows. They couldn't do what I wanted and so their representative told me, "Look, I have a friend who works for Vivint. Let me have him call you, 'cause I think their system will do what you want. Their technology is more upgraded and all their product designs are much smaller and sleeker and less obtrusive." And so, I was referred to Vivint and I was interested in what Vivint had to offer.

    The young fellow from Vivint that came and did the install was great. He was really careful with everything and he was very good at explaining to me what he was doing while he was doing it. Everything in the service has been great. I noticed that a lot of people in my neighborhood have been upgrading to security cameras, but I haven't really felt the need. I like the Vivint doorbell feature and that's been great. All in all, once the system is on, I set it and I can turn it off. I certainly don't think about it anymore.

    We get a lot of summer storms in Alberta and we had no power for 30 hours one time. Vivint called me on my cellphone and said, "You know, your battery, you need to plug your system in." I said, "Oh, can't, sorry." And they were like, "Oh, it's been that long?" And I said, "Yeah, there's nothing I can do about it. I've got no alternate power source." So, we got to a point where I had no security anymore simply because of power. I don't know if there's something they should think about. I'm sure there's lots of places that these things happen, where there's extended power outages, so maybe a bigger battery life would be better, just like what everybody wants in their cellphones. Other than that, I have recommended Vivint to people.

    Vivint's rep was very personable and had good customer service skills. He did what he had to do. Since he finished, I've been having an issue with my security system. When I put the alarm on to "leave" there is a delay. So, I have to wait a second or two before it says my system is armed and I better get out now. The issue is with "stay" too. It used to go right to being armed but now there's that little delay. Despite this issue, the system is good. I have access to my panel through my phone and that's the best feature.

    I have the thermostat, cameras, both above the garage and at the door, and sound detectors for breaking glass upstairs and downstairs from Vivint. The installation wasn’t too bad but it's kinda lousy where the battery backup system is. It has not been charging for about three months and when I called, they had me kill the power, take the battery out and reconnect it, and it has been bad ever since. When we lose power, it just sits there and beeps. They said they haven’t been able to make connections. It would be nice if they can resolve that, but I don’t have any hopes for that.
