Hands down glad we made the switch! It’s great knowing my family and I are safer! I highly recommend this to families with school age kids, very convenient!!! The always recording is a plus! Finally caught the culprits who have been eating all the ice cream in the house!!! Lol!

Great service, truly exceptional. I am very happy the way Vivint technician Mr. ** took care of us. He answered all the questions that me and my wife asked. The Technician was very knowledgeable and professional in the installation of the equipment and installment of our security systems. He was friendly, patient with any questions we asked him, and neat with his work. We would highly recommend him to anyone. As homeowners over 55, he was excellent in explaining the features of our security system no matter how long it took.

I am very satisfied with the technician and the installation. He went through everything and explained it to me. Once he left I am not sure what to do and wish there were written instructions. Step by step instructions would be helpful.

Update 03/11/2020: It appears that although a technician came by to remove the equipment from our house and we were assured that we would not be charged any more, we were charged an arbitrary amount of $148.21 exactly one month after installation.I will be canceling my debit card because I don't trust them not to steal from me again. Very ironic how a company who claims to protect people has some of the shadiest practices I've ever been a victim of.
Original review: A sales rep came by on a Friday afternoon saying Vivint is looking for model homes to offer trials of their equipment and services. I agreed to the trial and the rep said he was going to work hard to make sure we got a good deal of $20 only to have the system and monitoring in our home for 3 days on a trial. He also said that he could get us the trial for 7 days instead of 3. The appointment took so long that I had to go to a doctor's appointment but afterwards, he came back and we discussed it again. He said that actually the amount would be $70 for the trial. Strange. I still thought that we were getting a deal though, at 10 dollars a day for 7 days. I had him provide written confirmation that we would get the trial for 7 days, risk-free.
The installation began within 20 minutes of talking to the rep - He was still on my couch when the installation tech showed up ready to install. I wouldn't have agreed to this trial if I'd known I wouldn't be able to schedule a time for the installation. This was in the middle of me needing to pick up my daughter from preschool. Guy wasn't done until after my daughter had been in bed for an hour and a half - it took nearly 5 hours for the installation to complete.
My husband and I tried to cancel later that evening. When my husband called, he sat through two waiting periods before finally being told that he would need to call back on Monday to speak with the Customer Loyalty Department about cancellation. During his phone call, however, he was also told that our rep should have never told us that he could get us 7 days instead of 3 because we would have been put under contract after the third day. I should also mention that the "assistant manager" who came to install the equipment also boasted that he could try to get us a full month before canceling the "trial". Things started feeling sketchy at around this point in the ordeal.
Anyway, the following Monday I called Vivint's Customer Loyalty line and was very cordial when I explained that we wanted to cancel the trial. The rep said he would make a note in our account and gave us the date and time of our scheduled uninstall, which was going to be in 6 days. Great, fine. Later that day I was looking at my online banking statement because my debit card was declined during my lunch break. Come to find out, I was double charged the $76.46 (and my bank had a serious system failure causing no one's deposits from the last three days to post which contributed to this issue, but I digress.)
So I called Vivint a second time, livid, but didn't swear. I think anyone in this situation after only 2-3 days would be absolutely equally upset, if not more so. I asked him when I could expect my refund of both charges. Justin said that one of the charges was from Citizens Bank and that it’s part of the trial. I said that can't be right because they both show as identical charges. Regardless, I asked when I could expect to see my refund since I would be out nearly $160. He said that refunds couldn't be issued until the equipment is removed from my home in 6 days. And he was very matter-of-fact, as if to say "sorry 'boutcha luck!", when he said it. So essentially, I'm missing the better part of $200 for nearly a week, all because I decided to try out this new home security system. This has by far been a surprisingly terrible experience from day one, which only continues to get worse.
The same rep, Justin, said that in order for cancellations to officially process I would need to submit a written request via email. This is something everyone in the line before him neglected to mention. And judging from the way our experience has been thus far, I'm not confident that the company would've acknowledged the error on their part - by not informing us - and not put us on the hook for the entire cost of the equipment plus monitoring - because of THEIR mistake. Nonetheless, I submitted the email and made sure to include the verbiage Justin said we needed to include in the email. I asked for a receipt of the email and have been told that most receipts are sent the following day of the request being sent. Alright, fine.
Now, I spoke directly with my bank to ask them about this double charge. They said that they are both from the same entity, that there was no "Citizens Bank" anywhere that they could see. So they agreed to remove the second charge of $76.46 because it hadn't posted yet. Afterwards, I called Vivint one more time to clarify this "double charge" because my bank gave me different information. The last rep I spoke to, Bain, said that there should only be a $76 charge AND a $52.41 charge. "Really?"
As it turns out, the $52 charge came from Citizens Bank as a loan for the equipment/monitoring service -- a charge I was told on the day the rep came to my house wouldn't happen if I canceled within the 3-day (or 7-day) trial period. The rep told me that ONLY IF we decided to keep the system that we would be charged an additional cost of around $52. So basically, another lie.
And then it begs the question – Why did Justin pretend that two identical charges of $76.46 was normal when, in fact, the actual amount should have been $52.41? Is it incompetence? Or was he just being passive aggressive because a JUSTIFIABLY ANGRY customer let him know how upsetting this experience has been and demanded to know when to expect a full refund? Bottom line, clearly no one at this company seems to know very KEY information about how this trial is supposed to work. Everyone we've encountered since the day the sales rep showed up at our door has only compounded the issues we've had by either misinforming us or just omitting information altogether.
I've kept all emails, phone logs, bank information etc. and I plan to continue documenting every interaction with this company until every last piece of equipment has been removed and I receive every single penny that was taken from my account. I cannot recommend Vivint to anyone because of the way this was deeply mishandled every single step of the way.

So far so good. I will just have to get use to using the keypad. Gareth ** was pretty accurate and professional. After I have had the system for a while, I will be able to see if I can recommend it to other people.

My security system was dismantled since August 25, 2018. I live in a senior residence which does not require me to have a system. Vivint is not releasing me from my contract. They recently raised my monthly rate for some equipment maintenance. After almost an hour of arguing that I have no equipment and they are not monitoring my home, they assured me they would waive the fee. They did not. I repeatedly have explained to them that I am on a fixed income and that I am bombarded with medical bills as I am a cancer survivor, they still are increasing my monthly payments for service they are not providing. They need to go out of business, they are a rip-off company.

My new security system is greatly improved compared to my previous system. I enjoy having the ability to use the speaker connected to the camera and option to create pin codes for individual guest or family members. I was also provided with quick and professional installation. I am happy I made the switch.

This company proved themselves to be unprofessional in record time. From the time I signed up to the moment the equipment was installed, I called to get it out of my house. Conveniently, no one was available to assist and rather than offering follow up to assist, they advised me it’s my responsibility to call because they’re ‘busy’.
Our technician put up equipment in random and obvious locations then did a TERRIBLE job with the patchwork where she put HOLES IN MY HOUSE TO RUN WIRE. Mind you this is not discrete by any means. There’s literally a wire running down one side of my wall, across the baseboard and back up the wall to be plugged in. What company doesn’t use wiring already THERE!? And if that’s not possible, why is it not disclosed that you’re going to literally put UGLY holes in my house!? BEYOND FURIOUS and expecting appropriate compensation for this waste of time.

The installers were asked to put a door brake on all three of the exterior doors, instead they put one door break on the door to the laundry room/closet and the other one was installed on the upstairs balcony door which you can't even access from outside of the house and they completely left two out of the three exterior doors without a door break. I can't even set the alarm when anyone's doing laundry because it will set off the alarm.
The interior camera is pretty much useless. It's big, it's bulky and it has to be plugged into the wall so when my daughter comes home she just unplugs it so we can't keep track of what she's doing. The video quality from the doorbell camera is so horribly bad I can't tell who it is coming and going. Either my wife or one of my kids went out to the car last night and when I reviewed the video I couldn't tell which one of them it was. The video quality is so bad! The window break sensor is sound activated so anytime I hear something that sounds like breaking glass it goes off. They mounted this in the living room so when Captain America crashed through the plate-glass window on the TV set it set off the window break sensor.
The install guys also showed up two hours late and they didn't bring all the tools they needed to do the install so they had to return the next day, they told me they would be here by 9:30 in the morning and it was 12:30 in the afternoon before they made it and they didn't bother to fix the door brakes or placed in the wrong place. They just finished what they had started and left. I'm in the process of trying to cancel my service but apparently that department is closed and has very limited hours.

Dealing with the salesperson Jared was unpleasant. He was high pressure and accused me of being disrespectful when I questioned him. The equipment has glitches. I did send an email cancelling the contract during the three business day grace period but I haven’t heard back.

Our tech Eli was nothing but pleasant from the beginning and walked us through the process step-by-step; we couldn't have had a better tech. I would definitely recommend Vivint as it's not hard-wired like competitors and the customer service is phenomenal! The system is very user-friendly and didn't take long to install.

My salesperson, Megan, was very helpful and answered all my questions and assured my concerns. I spoke with her today and was able to get installation the same day to avoid the installation fee. Technicians were very courteous and informative. It was a last minute setup job, so I’m sure they were ready to start their weekend. Only negative, is to take a little bit more time in the cleanup phase but of course, I was working outside and I’m sure they didn’t want to hunt me down to find out where the garbage can was located and I’m a little OCD. Overall, still a good experience and would highly recommend. Although I was shown the basics of the system, I will be educating myself a little more on the website which was recommended to do. I’m sure I will be well pleased with my security system.

I have loved all the people that I have dealt with. I just moved into a new subdivision and the people from Vivint that stopped by were not pushy at all. Yesterday, JG stopped by to check back in and I agreed to go ahead with the security home system. He was so nice and explain everything that I didn’t know from my research. The tech then came out the same day. It didn’t take him long at all. He was also super friendly. I would recommend anyone to get vivint. Not only because of the cool features but the friendly customer service I received.

Happy with both sales and installation. Both were very professional and cleaned up after install was done. Would recommend this company to others. Happy with the set up and outside camera. Never thought we could have an camera at the door bell since it was on the side of the house but it was angled to cover the entire entrance.

The representative and technicians were friendly, helpful and informative. My husband and I were impressed with how quickly they came out and were able to install the system we wanted. Any issue that arose during the install they were able to resolve which meant bringing in another tech to help.

Sales rep was not pushy but explained everything very well. Installation wad on time and quick. Installer was friendly and set up the system and explained how to use it. So far it is working well. This is the first time I have had a security system so I can't speak to cost comparison but the monthly charges are about what I expected. The cost of the equipment seems a little high, but I chose to pay for it over 60 months so payments are more manageable.

I’ve never had the initial service that I have received from the installation crew and the initial sign up. I spoke with Cesar and he told me a crew would be by in the next few days. And when I opened the door the installers were on the street prepping their tools to come install everything in a short amount of time.

I had a scheduled phone appointment on a Sunday to set up service and didn’t receive a call. I was supposed to get an email confirmation that service was activated and still have not received anything. It doesn’t illicit a strong confidence in the relationship with your company. The upside was when I did speak to your reps they were friendly.

Within 3 business days of calling Vivint, my security system has been installed and I could not be happier with the customer service and installation process. I just purchased a new home security system. Travis and his team were friendly. Travis took the type to sit down with us and explain everything. It made a lot of sense to me to switch from ADT to Vivint because of all the added features and the integration that Vivint offers. Better than Ring, better than Amazon Blink cameras. I have the capability to lock/unlock all my doors and raise/lower my garage door and adjust my thermostat and lights all from one app now. It was worth my money and it’ll be worth yours. My sales person Gabbi explained everything knowledgeably and with passion. My installer Dillon did an amazing job. Was extremely knowledgeable and professional. Installation tech failed to arrive at the first appointment I made on January 16th, 2020. The appointment was rescheduled for January 25th, with an installation time of 10-12. Technician did not arrive until 3 due to the an issue with the tech's previous appointment. No issue with installation or equipment, however, the tardiness was unprofessional and an inconvenience both installation days.

The tech came out sold me a equipment and didn't show me an invoice until a week later. When he showed me the invoice I told him to remove the equipment. The tech Deigo he said he would lose his commission. I called customer service. Customer service was supposed to send another tech to remove the equipment. They continue to send this Tech out. I said I didn't want him back at my house because he was not professional. They made three different appointments to come out and remove the equipment yet they continue to send out this Tech.
So they after that customer service decided they weren't going to exchange or remove anything. They wanted me to pay for everything even though my service is not working and they did not come make the changes they were supposed to make before my 15 days is up. Now they're saying I'm stuck with the equipment and I have to pay for it even though the service in the cameras need to be readjusted and they did not come out and do it. I'm still stuck with the service and I'm not happy with it.

1 star. I want everybody to be aware that this company is by far the worst company I ever dealt with. The CEO Todd Pedersen himself does not care about customers. I reached out to him multiple times and he refuses to respond back to me showing what type of person he really is. He is a complete joke and so is his company. I was supposed to get cameras and a security system installed at my home yesterday and at the last minute they cancelled on me. I waited the whole day for them to show up and it never happened. They called me at the last minute to tell me that they're canceling my install and that I will be put at the back of the list because they do not have any available install appointments until later on next week.
I reached out to several management in the company including the CEO and their response was things happen. Deal with it. I waited on hold all day yesterday for over an hour trying to get a resolution to this problem. I personally felt that the staff members should have done all this instead of me having to stay on hold and getting upset. We are just a number to Vivint. I hope and pray no one else would have to endure the problems and the disrespect that I received with Vivint.

Vivint has excellent customer service. The install technician went above and beyond to make sure I was happy with everything. I also had to call customer service to get some help with establishing remote access and the representative took all the time to help me get it set up.

We are so relieved to be done with ADT. Two bad experiences and one break in. We also were taken to the cleaners every time we moved or had it installed. Vivint covered everything including my detached garage and every window with their stuff and outside cameras. For less than what ADT did and ADT would not do the detached garage and with no cameras as much as Vivint. Still wasn’t cheap but way better than ADT. Plus Vivint’s APP and touchscreen Controller are way better than ADT’s. Thank you Vivint!

NO STARS! I canceled my contract back in October 2019. I agreed that I needed to pay for the month of October. In November 2019 they charged my card. I called them and they did refund me (not the full amount). In December 2019 they charged my card again. They said they will refund me again. (NEVER received refund). January 2020 they charged my card again. Called and they said they will process a refund again. I told them I still waiting on my December refund. He removed my card from the canceled account. So now I have to call back on Monday to talk to the specialty group to find out why and when December and January’s refund will be returned.

Salesman lied about the service. Vivint will NOT send someone out. They want the customer to troubleshoot and do the work of a technician. They ask very technical questions about the equipment which a normal person cannot answer. Their install left me with exposed screws where they mounted the camera in the wrong place so they just left the screws up there. They cut a hole on the side of my plug in, in my home, to extend wiring out of the wall. Brand new home, by the way. Then their ability to stay online is so poor that they have placed all these WIFI extenders all over my room, to the point that they have all my plug ins occupied. Something is wrong when you can't connect within the room.
My cameras go offline DAILY. When you call in the person you speak to is not knowledgeable. Once they have you locked into a contract, they no longer care about you. You are at their mercy for 5 years. I have had 4 other companies and NONE of them expected you to troubleshoot. Oh wait, the other companies....I never had to call them...not ONCE. But vivint, I have to call them on a regular basis. Problem is if you pay for someone to come out. That's right...you have to pay for someone to come out, he will get it running, but the next day, I will have the same problem again.

Clearly the tech had worked a long day and wanted to get home. He left wires, mess, papers, boxes, wrapping. Wallboard dust everywhere and because the Car Guard app kept crashing, this part of the set up was not completed. Time will tell.

My Vivint tech installed all my equipment with attention to my requests and experience brought from two years in the field. He was friendly and considerate, while professional without being cold or awkward. We went over the account setup process and the equipment he installed, and he made sure I understood what did what and how to use everything efficiently before we signed any completion forms. The system is working good so far. Had three false alarm I think from balloons. The service rep was good and I was able to move through the screens and monitor the bar. I am going to add more cameras. The installation was done good and able to clean up a lot of wires. I like the system a lot. Thanks.

Love the clarity of the cameras and the video doorbell. Touch screen is very intuitive. Very little learning curve. Also works with Google Home pretty well.

The technicians that installed my system cut corners and used equipment from a previous system the homeowner prior to myself had. I understand that is not something Vivint would encourage but they refused to take accountability for. They would not send a technician to fix after numerous requests. I finally took them off auto-pay as I had a system that wasn’t protecting my home for 18 months of trying to get them to make it right. I am currently having to take legal action as they are trying to send my 4 months off non-payment to collections with an extra $2,000. I highly recommend another security company.

Installation was quick, Painless. Set up and tutorial on using the system were very helpful. Service tech was very knowledgeable about my old system, helped me to get rid of a lot of useless hardware and was able to anticipate and fix problems with the phone line and electric as he installed the pad. The install technician came to install the 2 cameras but was not able to install l the doorbell. Instead we were told we would be receiving a 3rd camera per our sales rep. Mr. **. We have yet to receive it a month later.

This Definitely beats ADT!! I'm sooo happy with our new security system. The sales rep, Colton, and technician, Steven, were amazing! They explained every detail and answered every question we had. The cameras are on point! I get a view of my entire backyard plus more. The doorbell camera catches everything as well, I love that I can see it live from my own phone. The smart lock is perfect so I wont get locked out of my own house again! Loveeeee Vivint!

Vivint has been the worst experience I've had with a company since dealing with predatory third-party student loan lenders. The rep sold me a system with the understanding that I had signed a lease on the location, then learned that there were issues preventing me from moving in. "No problem," he assured me. "Sign up, and it's easy to relocate the equipment if you can't move in here."
Then, less than a week later, when I called Vivint with the news that my lease had been voided and I had a new address I wanted to use the Vivint package at, it took 4 days, 9 phone class, half a day off work without pay to meet the technicians, and multiple threats of several-hundred-dollar fees to get the account and equipment moved. Three months later, in a close review of my bank account, I discovered Vivint was double-billing me for both addresses, despite having assured me that the first address was cancelled out as though it had never existed. 3 calls, 5 days, and over an hour of phone-time to get that issue resolved.
The equipment isn't particularly intuitive to use, and it doesn't do what my non-subscription items (smoke alarms, cameras) do well. So after 6 months I decided to cancel. GOOD LUCK! It's now 2 months after my original request to cancel. Nothing has been cancelled, I'm still getting bills, I'm spending over 20 minutes on the phone (half of it on hold) every time I call, and their newest solution is that I should keep paying my bill, and they'll send me refund checks to make up for what they told me I would no longer be charged for beginning in November. I have $1500 of low-grade equipment I hate, and an account that I cannot cancel.
I have NO IDEA how to make Vivint stop charging me, and it seems my only recourse to stop using them is to unplug the thousands of dollars of equipment completely, so I can't even use it as an on-site security system (despite, again, their many promises.) This company is absolutely awful, and it's like the mafia: once you're in, there's no escape.

Cancelled your service because you failed to get a thermostat to us for the system to work! Even had a technician to put one in that was the wrong one for a heat pump! Had to call an a/c man to install a correct thermostat so we could have heat beginning in November! Have notified you several times by email I have cancelled your service! The sales manager came to my neighborhood over the summer with a great deal including a contract buyout and I decided to try Vivint before the 2020 New Year. Chase ** was our sales rep and he was very personable and really helpful in getting our home setup. Matt ** (or something similar to that last name I can’t remember exactly) was a huge help also and a very very nice man. They were here late at night working their tail off and they were just pleasant to have in our home. It was like we had known them for years.
