Then another one came by but I was planning on moving and then signed a longer lease and decided to go with it. After signing the install team showed up within a short time.     Brian, the tech, was outstanding. Always has been. I’ve dealt with him for years. The corporate customer service is the worst I’ve ever dealt with with any company with exception of the government or Wells Fargo. I spent 10-12 hours on the phone over the last week to simply get the account out of my ex wife’s name and into mine. She moved out of the house and I stayed. Absolutely ridiculous the amount of time it took not to mention several calls to my ex wife to make this happen. Don’t waste your time calling me now as I was promised a call from management last week a few times to straighten this out & never heard a word.

    I had put off buying a home security system for years and years. My parents got Vivint and the system looked super slick. When a rep (thanks Francois!) came by and showed us everything the system can do, it checked off all of our boxes and then some. We had wanted smart locks and a way to check our garage door since we moved in. Our installer Obi couldn't have been nicer or more thorough. Yes, it's more expensive than some other options out there, and I like saving money. But going cheap on keeping your family safe seems like the wrong place to be bargain hunting. We're paying the same as what we're paying for our internet service, and this is no less important. I'd recommend this to anyone. Happy to be a Vivint home!

    During the installation, Dustin was very rude. At one point he wanted to change the location of the keypad, because he had to do extra work. When I did not want it in that location he began throwing things out of his work bucket. Then he needed a survey complete and was adamant about doing at the time, my husband was busy at work and he kept insisting. I explained to him he would need to come back to finish the survey and he disagreed with me and stated he would not be upset for someone interrupting him at work. He then apologized for arguing with me.

    I had got the system installed and then had to downgrade when I realized the price breakup was received. Most of the equipment is charged 3 times higher than what is available off the market. While quality and security is the reason repeatedly told me, it should not cost 3 times. Exam is your camera costs $399 where I can get set of 3 Nest cameras with a month of free service from market. Also offers are not really transparent. I have ended up paying $99 for installation (where online it says free) of basic package because I blindly trusted and opted for a full package initially. May want to discontinue this service after a year.

I called them and they informed me it would not work because I have rolling bays and the sensor cannot work in the different climate changes!! That’s when the fun started. I asked to get an address to send the system back and get my money back. They put me on hold forever and I run a business so once it goes past 45 min I have to get back to work.

    Then I chatted and they told me to call. I called again and was put on hold for 40 min again when told it would be 6 min. They canceled and finally gave me a return address but I had to call another department for my refund. Then was told I would have to wait 30 days to even talk about a refund!!! Pleas do yourself a favor and stay away from this company. Please please go with another company, save your time and money, they are frauds!!!

    Customer service are very rude, they lack of accurate information, I scheduled an installation appointment and the customer service representative (Nick) didn't put it on the system so they had to reschedule my appointment. When the technician arrived he had me go through a whole process and procedures that wasn't exp explained to me before. I was about to cancel the service however, the local technician (William) showed way better attitude and professionalism that made me change my mind about cancelling.     The Vivint sales rep who “sold” us the system was respectful and straightforward. I asked for open, honest and bottom line conversation, which, is what I got. However, during and after the installation I felt that some of the finer details of installation and how the systems works were missed during the sell. Full disclosure, I did not ask therefore I missed my responsibility to be informed.

    I was told the system works on a cellular network using two cellular cards, which is true I think, however, they do connect to your WiFi. Does it need to? The sensors are battery operated and go dead eventually, an estimated cost of yearly battery replacement from the sales rep would be a good piece of knowledge for the homeowner. I was “sold” the garage door monitoring system, then during the installation it was discovered I didn’t really need the sensor because my opener was already compatible with the Vivint/myQ system. Yet, I still had to pay for it “because my garage opener still connects to Vivint.” I accepted it because I do not want holes in my home security.

    The installation team was kind and respectful but it did not start until 830pm and ended at 1030, I felt as though the install was very rushed as the last of the day. The installation technicians do not work on Sunday (I applaud Vivint for that) and the techs were relocating to another town on Monday.... I was willing to wait for a better time but Vivint apparently doesn’t allow system installation other than the day you sign up, so I was told. Speaking of installation, there are many products that hide and conceal wires that protrude from and run along the surface of a wall. I would recommend using these on future installs, this would eliminate the need for me to caulk a small hole and low voltage power wires from protruding out from under the electrical outlet plate (see photos).

    I realize that the installation technicians are not building or electrical contractors but a little better standard of care with wiring practices would pay dividends. In light of these things, I am happy with the system and its ease of use and quality. The install team cleaned up properly, did not tear anything up beyond a simple repair and walked me through the initial set up. Overall, we are happy with this system but would ask that a little better care be given to future customers.

    Vivint removed my existing security system and installed a new security system without my permission. They talked my wife into a "free trial" and she already tried to cancel to no avail. However, they didn't do their "due diligence". They didn't ask if she was the actual homeowner. There was never a Power Of Attorney in force to authorize any changes while I was gone that week. I am the homeowner and I never gave permission. The removal and installation was illegal and the system must be restored as it was free of charge, immediately. How did they know she was my wife anyway? She could've have been a tenant! Do not ever sign up with Vivint. If they are willing to break the rules just to make a sale, then they cannot be trusted.     Updated on 09/03/2020: It's been about 3 weeks since my last review "Conned into signing with Vivint". Since then I have found more and more on how dishonest the salesperson DeMarcus P. was the day I agreed to the services. I was told that a soft inquiry was going to be ran against my credit. Turns out Vivint did run a soft credit and did not approve me. So without informing me that I was not approved DeMarcus went ahead and ran my credit through a third party Fortiva Credit without informing that he was doing so because I was not approved by Vivint and that the inquiry will be an hard inquiry. DeMarcus also assured me that I can cancel Vivint services at any time with no fees because I am not be in a contract with Vivint. But I will need to pay for the cost of the equipment. I said: "ok that is fine". I found out today that that was a lie as well. I will have to pay $2,500 to cancel services.

    Now I am stuck with $3000 worth of equipment, $2,500 contract and a $120/month bill (I only agreed to services because DeMarcus assured me that the cost of equipment and Vivint services will be $54/month). I reached back out to Vivint twice with no help. I was told by two customer service agents that the only way that I can get out of all of this is to call DeMarcus and ask him about what I am complaining about and have him agree to extending the cancellation period so I can cancel. One agent was able to reach him and DeMarcus said that what I am saying is not true and he will not extend the cancellation period. The agent says Vivint policy is to believe the salesperson. So not only did I get conned I was called a liar as well.

    I want people to know that the customer is never right at Vivint. I was told that the matter will be escalated to management and they will reach out to me to help me further. A week has gone by and I did not get any email or call from management. I refuse to keep paying money to a company who treats their customers like crap. So Vivint leadership if you need to reach me my email is **. I will continue to fight to get out of this one sided relationship because during these troubling times not everyone can afford to be messed over the way I have been messed over.

    Original review: I was told I would only be charged for first month service upon signup. I was charged $400+ and first month after looking at my bank account the next day. Called customer service and reversed the $400+ charge. I checked the mail today 08/14 and there was a Fortiva Retail Card addressed to me. I checked with Fortiva and was told that this is a separate bill from Vivint.

    Before I signed up the sales person DeMarcus ** told me that the payment for equipment would be included in bill my Vivint bill of 54 dollars a month. I specifically told him that I can't afford 2 more bills during this pandemic but I do want to protect my family for the exceptional price of 54 a month. The agent that reversed my $400+ charge stated that the equipment payment was included in the Vivint bill. So it turns out that both Vivint employees were not being truth resulting in me having 2 different bills. 1 for Vivint and one for Fortiva. Now that my 3 day cancellation I am stuck with at least one of the Bills. I will be fighting to cancel the services peacefully every day until I am satisfied. I truly do not recommend anyone buy Vivint services in the Birmingham/Hoover AL area if these are the type of employees they hire and train.

    Gentleman who installed the equipment could not have been more professional or considerate. He was very efficient doing the installation even though it involved going up the stairs into my attic which is NOT climate controlled and is unbearably hot during the day. He also was very patient with me while he explained how the system works and what I needed to do to turn it on and off as required. I am soooo NOT a technical person and he was extremely patient and kind to me. A really great guy!!!!!
