    My vinyl covered windows were made 1996, installed on new home in 1997. Just discovered that at ends of window sills the wood was never covered with vinyl. (About a1/2" by 1") Over time the wood has rot across complete sill. Called Andersen, they said no warranty on windows this old. It looks to me this is a builders defect no matter the age and cover at least part of the cost for replacement. I have 17 windows like this.

    I had about 8 or more windows replaced with Andersen. They promised to deliver it and they delivered it on time with the price they said they would. The windows are very good and I'm happy with them. There are screened parts that I closed in with the windows and turned it into a three-season room. It has worked out very well and we've been very satisfied, so far.

    My experience with Andersen Windows was fantastic. The team that came out was awesome. They all got it figured out. I haven’t had that great of experience in the past. I love them. I have used AAA’s before in my home in Long Lake, but I have had problems with my door. Andersen had to replace the door and this will be the third time now. I am waiting on response for a replacement on a door. I can’t wait to get my new door. And if something happens, Andersen is gonna have to come back and take it all out again. As long as that’s the same team that’s gonna stay with me, that’ll be great.

    The windows that we already had in the house are Andersen and I wanted the replacements to match. They replaced about 20 windows and Andersen had been fine, but the contractor didn't do a very good job. I'm happy with the windows, but I'm not happy with the installation. They've met the timeline but I don't think he installed them correctly. I didn't fully understand this cutting the flange off and putting them in the existing opening. That's what he said would work fine.

    I believe the caulk that was used is supposed to prevent water from getting in and around the outside of the window frame, between the window frame and the house framing. There are cracks in the caulk and there is very little caulk there. I don't know that he used the Andersen Windows recommended caulk. He used the Terratone color, but I think he did a terrible job caulking. By the time I noticed it, my 1 or 2-year warranty was expired so I haven't spoken to them about it. I'm wondering if somebody can come out and look at this for me.

    We had 3 Andersen windows that are about 5 years old and paid $900 each. We added a new room and ordered the same windows and they were $1400 each. Two of the new windows were defective. One window had a chunk out of the bottom of the sash. The other does not go all the way up. Andersen sent us a new sash to replace the one with the chunk missing. They sent a balance replacement kit to fix the other one. The instructions are very complicated and definitely requires a professional. We can figure out how to replace the sash but not the balance.

    Andersen sent us a quote for $600 for someone to do the work. Remember.... these new windows were installed in November 2018. We didn’t realize that the window didn’t open all the way until we we went to install the screens. Andersen also sent a replacement sash for one of the older winders because the top of the sash is cracked. They also sent weather stripping for one of the older windows since it’s all worn out. For the price of these windows I would have expected a superior quality. Also, I would expect that Andersen would repair a brand new window for us free if charge. They explained that only the parts are under warranty but this is ridiculous.... A brand new window that cost $1,400 is defective and we need to pay someone to fix it.

    I bought 13 casement windows from Home Depot. We ordered the colonial grilles which are standard or so we thought. Andersen changed the installation from predrilled to a new clip insert. Only problem is that the grilles won’t stick onto the clips. Either side pops and won’t lay flush to the window. The Home Depot Pro Desk rep came out and tried to install them. I contacted Andersen. They just sent the instructions again and said they changed the grille design some years back. I’m very upset that I spent all this money and my new sunroom hasn’t any grilles. Andersen needs to step up here. I have a case number with them but no one has contacted me to resolve this. Please help.

    Fourteen months ago we purchased windows for the front of our house. We have not had a completed job yet. We have wrong color grilles and mismatched glass color. They were back again June 4 and once again, wrong grille colors, mismatched glass color. This has been a very expensive nightmare and we see no end in sight!

    We have been extremely pleased with our Andersen Window purchases over the years. Our most recent purchase was 9 storm window units which are a perfect fit for our home.     I have 100 Andersen windows in my house, and 60 Andersen windows in the other house. With the first house, we’ve never had too many problems with that one. But my house was built in 1990, and Andersen Windows sold defective windows during that time period because the spacer in between the pieces of double-glass were defective. The company that made them had gone out of business. Andersen sold probably millions of those windows. I had no idea that our windows were defective and after my husband died in 2014, my windows began to fog up, so I called Andersen Windows, and someone came. And when they came to the house, they brought a little meter with them.

    They went around, and took a reading on every single window in my house and discovered how many windows where the panes of glass got closer and closer together, so they either fog or they crack. So, thinking that this was an Andersen problem, I didn’t worry too much. But then they said, “Oh, no, it’s out of warranty.” But they were defective when I bought them. So, when does the warranty start? I think by law, the warranty doesn’t start until the object is perfect. About 35 windows had to replaced.

    I have 5 very expensive Andersen Frenchwood sliders, and 2 Andersen Frenchwood single doors. So, they came a couple of years ago and did a lot of repairs to windows that could be saved. They can drill a hole in it, and fill it with air, and then plug it again. They also replaced the sashes that needed to be replaced. But in the meantime, they broke one of my windows. They were supposed to come back and fix it. And there were other windows that needed the whole frames to be replaced. I finally got someone to do that. They took off all the siding on that side of the house, and they replaced all the window frames, and then had the sashes put back in.

    But then I live in Hatteras Island in North Carolina, which is like Hurricane Central. We experienced a very bad weather and now I have to replace all the weatherstripping on all the windows except for the new ones. And no one’s ever come back to fix the window. I called them about my other house because I have several windows where the crank outs are bad, and they need a lot of repairs. I gave them a list. But no one has ever come. But when they did come, they’re very nice to me, especially because they knew I was really upset. They gave me something for free, which was very nice of them. However, there are so many Andersen windows, and I just don’t think they can get to everything. They’re overwhelmed.

    Since buying a 9-year-old home in 2007, we've had to replace 5 bottom sashes for our double-hung windows at our own cost because the wood is constantly rotting. When I open and close the window for cleaning, the bottom wood framing rips off because it has rotted away. Additionally, we have more windows that are in the process of rotting that we're going to have to replace soon. And the rotting windows were just outside the warranty period so we've had to purchase replacements out of our own pocket. The cost of the replacement sashes is skyrocketing, and it gets more expensive every year.

    I got a window casing from Andersen Windows and we didn't have the standard installation process. They installed the windows and informed us that the wood around the windows was rotten. So they had to take the windows back out, replace the entire wall of the home, and then put the windows back in a second time. Their customer service is great. They're a small, operating, two-member organization and I'm impressed by their attention to detail. The quality of the overall service was good and we would recommend them.

    1990 Andersen Windows in whole house were leaking large amounts of cold air. Our contractor determined the latches were not keeping the windows closed. He called Andersen who told him to replace all the latches with Andersen latches and they shipped them out to him. After replacing the latches, our windows (the interior panes) keep shattering randomly. While we are sitting there, a window will just shatter for no reason sounding like a shot through the window and shattered glass on the floor. Really dangerous. This is about the 5th one to shatter with no end in sight apparently.

    Andersen told my husband "not their problem". It is very expensive to keep replacing the glass. The replacement glass company knows us by name now that we are regular customers. They can't believe either how Andersen thumbed their nose at us. Just put in 39 new construction windows plus 3 doors in a beach house and used a different window company - we laughed at our architect who suggested Andersen.

    I purchased 3 of the same storm doors at different times. I have a wife who is 74 and has MS. She needs things to be as easy as possible to keep her from being confused. I called the company and simply asked them to sell me 3 of the same locksets keyed alike. They said they can't do it, even though they told me they manufacture them. After going up 2 levels I was told that they in fact do not manufacture the locksets. I then asked if they could order them in special and was told no. After several minutes of discussing how it is not hard to key 3 locks alike, I was then told they had already asked the supplier previously and were told no.

    I asked if I could talk to the supplier by either getting their number or being transferred direct. I was told no. This company does not care enough about their customers to take special orders/circumstances into consideration. 3 locks keyed alike is not a hard thing to do. Asking a supplier is not a hard thing to do. Making happy customers is not a hard thing to do. Andersen Windows and Doors failed with all of these. I can not recommend them to anyone. They will only offer this service on more expensive doors (their words, not mine). Money talks. She would not even sell them to me.

    I got a couple of quotes and price was originally part of my decision-making process in choosing Andersen. After speaking with the individual who came out, I had a little bit of trust in him. He understood what I was looking for. We removed an 8-foot bay window and replaced with an 8-foot sliding door. He explained to me it’d be a special order door. It wasn’t anything they had in stock. So, I had to wait. The installation took one day. There were three gentlemen and the guy who actually sold it was there.

    These are beautiful windows, no argument. However, their version of tilt-in cleaning is the worst nightmare imaginable. I had no idea such a ridiculous system could even exist. Rather than just pushing on a tab at the top of the window and pulling forward easily as with ALL other tilt-in cleaning systems, you have to slide a piece down the frame, jamb on it with your thumb as hard as humanly possible then attempt to push simultaneously on both sides of the sash while pulling forward the window. It is insanely difficult, I have almost had the windows fall out and trying to finagle two large windows tilted in precariously has made me desperately dread trying to clean them. We just bought them a year ago and I am looking to replace them despite crying over the wasted money. (They are not cheap!) Safety first!

    We had an Andersen front door put in. We live in a coastal environment, so we were looking for a front door that would withstand the wind, the rain, the salt and the heat. And that was recommended because of those properties in the Andersen coastal door. We went to a local building supply company that was recommended, and they came out and measured. We met in the showroom afterwards, and they presented all the different options to us. At that time, the order was placed. We were told how long it would take to be built and then when it would be installed.

    It was a good eight-hour installation from start to finish, to remove the old one and square everything up. The contractor was excellent. We had an issue with the lock on the door. It's a Yale lock keyless entry and the Yale interface has been a very weak link in this whole process. But the installer came out and looked at it. He contacted Yale and got a replacement and came out and replaced it. We really like the front door. It fits the environment. I feel like I'm entering a commercial building when I come into the house. It's so solid. It's a huge improvement over what we had.

    I was the carpenter on a job where I had to install a 400 series door with sidelites and transom windows, by far the most ridiculous concept ever. Directions are not specific to series door. Parts are not specific to series door. 6 different units to attach to one another. Once put together, try moving it around (Pella doors have handles). You have to put all the finished flashings where doors meet at exterior. Maybe 15 different boxes for one unit. A prefinished unit having to be put together on a job site that is in rough framing stage (dirty). When a warranty issue arises, who is to blame? How does that work seeing unit was put together on job site. This is something that needs to be put together in factory, not on a job site!! Will never again do a job like this nor will I recommend an Andersen door that needs to be put together on job site.

    We like Andersen Windows very much and we have a few reasons for going with them, including knowledge, word of mouth and a little bit of advertising. However, there’s no way in the world I would ever do a Renewal by Andersen deal no matter what it is. I had a guy out from Renewal and his price was dramatically higher, thousands of dollars. Jeffrey, the Andersen certified installer, is very professional and he does a great job. The installation generally takes one day and that timeframe is met. All in all, we like our doors and windows. They're great.

    I've got a brand new house. The doors that I had previously were not Andersen and they failed. They could not hold up to the hurricanes and wind in Hatteras. We replaced those with doors by Andersen Windows and they have been holding up perfectly. The're very nice doors. I would've saved a tremendous amount of money just putting those in. However, the sales representatives were lacking a little bit to be desired. They quoted one price but by the time I bought the doors, they added about 30%. I was shocked by the time I got the final bill. It's a little pricey and the percent of what they went up to really kinda put me out of budget by the time it was all said and done.

    We met the Andersen contractors at a home show in Indianapolis last February, and we were not pleased with them at all. They tried to sell us something that wasn’t what we felt we needed. We had several people come out and give us quotes, including Precision Windows. They’re independent but they’ve been in business a very long time, which was important to us. We knew that they were back-logged and would not get to us until July, but they guaranteed us that they would have the windows in by a certain date. Everything that they said they would do, they did. They were very wonderful to work with as far as representing Andersen as an authorized dealer.

    We purchased three three-window panes, two smaller windows for a utility room and a regular double window. We knew it was gonna be expensive, especially having a bay put in the front, but knowing Andersen’s quality and having estimates of the other window companies out, we felt comfortable with what we paid for the windows. They open very nicely. I wish there were more options on the screen colors, but it’s not bad. The people that put them in did a great job. We kept in touch with them as far as when the windows would be installed, and we were pleased with everything that happened and their timeline. We knew it would be about a week, and it took them about that time.

    I got all new windows from Andersen Windows for the reputation of them, mostly, and their quality. My old house had Andersen windows, and they were installed in the house when it was built back in the ‘60s. My contractor also likes Andersen Windows, so that was the other big thing. The installation was very good. However, one of the windows had a problem and there was something that they had to order. The Andersen guy had to come out twice for the one-bed garage bedroom because the screen didn’t have any tabs at all on it. It was a big window and it should have had two.

    Another thing was the tilting mechanism. Something with one window wouldn’t tilt. We tested them alright after they were installed, and he had to re-wire it. It’s different but that’s the reason I like these. There are no springs on the side of these windows to pull them in. They’re like a more expensive window. You just literally pull them in without compressing anything on the side of the window. There was a mechanism within the window that was bad in one of the windows. The repair guy came out and he was very good. He was able to order the pieces and he fixed it.

    I'm satisfied with the double-hung window but I am not satisfied with the quality of the casement window in my kitchen at all. The hardware on the inside looks like it’s unfinished. You can actually see the latch and the gearing. In fact, I called the contractor and I went back to Peter Lumber where I ordered them, and they said that's the way it’s supposed to look. I'm disappointed in that. The latch itself stays in, but you can pull out the little cover that’s part of that. It looks like there’s a part missing to the hardware for the window. I used to have Caradco windows, and it was a much different look with the latch.

    There was another issue with one of the double-hung that happened. I bought the stained windows and I wanted the stained trim which is the expensive way to do things, but with my house, I thought it would look nice. I couldn’t even get a sample of the stain color, like a little block of wood, to match up exactly. I called Anderson for it and the rep was a hard person to get ahold of. They gave me the mixture of the stain that I should give to Sherwin-Williams that said it would match what I ordered. But it was way lighter and I didn’t even know this until the windows came. It was too late 'cause I already did two coats of stain and two or three coats of poly on the trim, and there was nothing I could do about that.

    So, as far as that’s concerned, am I the only person in the country, as many windows as they sell, that did stained their trim and tried to get it to match? It’s the same family of color, but it doesn’t match. Apparently, when they spray it on in the factory, it’s a different kinda thing. It must’ve went to the wood differently. The trim I bought was stain gray trim and I paid a lot of money for it. I used a wood conditioner to open the pores of the wood. One of the reasons we bought these windows was the name Andersen means a lot. It was more money in a lot of respects, but I figured I'm gonna get what I pay for. However, they are a little high-priced, especially with not following through, like asking customers, “How’d you make out?”

    I got four houses that I manage and I got one that got sliding doors and another that got a whole wall of glass. They’re both by Andersen Windows. I like the quality of them and their longevity.     Bought custom 2500 Series storm door from Home Depot 8 months ago for over $500. Paid HD to install $190. Screen is literally falling out of frame. Andersen sent the replacement part but HD wants $150 to repair. Not even a year old. Don’t believe the bs about warranty with HD install. Many complaints about retractable screens.

    Our house has all Andersen Windows. We were trying to match it and we got casement windows from them. We were quite delayed by about a month and a half on the install but the contractor was really good. He really knew what he was doing. He had it done pretty quickly, but it was done well. He communicated often to let me know where they were at on the install. However, I don’t like the handles on the windows. I'm not happy about them. They're made out of crap. They’ve got tons of plastic and the plastic where it latches is also like a molding. One where they installed a part where it locks, that whole little frame crumbled. They're broken and I still haven't replaced those yet. Around the handle, there's plastic, too. They usually have metal but they did all plastic.

One of my double hung windows rotted out on the bottom sash. I called Andersen Windows customer service department and was informed that they only warranted the wood for 10 years. My window is 14 years old. I believe the rot was caused by a defect in the window where the glass meets the wood. I was also told by the customer service department that my lack of maintenance was one of the causes for the Damage (I found this to be insulting) and I should be happy that they discounted the window at 50% for me. I was told I was lucky this only happened to one of my windows. Really?

    I am extremely disappointed in Andersen Windows and their failure to stand behind their product. I expect an Andersen window to last more than 14 years. I hope the $150 that you charge me is worth losing a customer for over 25 years. I have approximately 25 windows and doors in my house that are all Andersen. I found dealing with their customer service very difficult. They were very defensive and rude when we spoke. I know this is a drop in the bucket to a big corporation like Andersen but it does show your true colors.

    I would advise against purchasing Andersen overrated junk. We have over 70 panes of windows all out of warranty. Andersen had a seal problem that was not told to owners of their products. Most of our windows are casement. What a mistake! First they never cranked out easy. When I first complained the person on the phone wanted me to buy new hardware without ever seeing the windows. Apparently she could diagnose the problem over the phone. Then we heard about Andersen replacing windows because the argon had leaked out and had windows explode. A sign argon has leaked out is wrinkled vinyl siding which we have. Cheaply made vinyl clad double hung the ends of the sill is just painted. 12' door wall rotted the vinyl coating is microscopically thin. It rotted almost through to the inside of the house before the rot was noticed two doors.

    After a long fight and doing their check with a straight edge and credit card most windows failed. And fighting with Andersen reps they would send a technician out to gauge the argon in the windows. They made no promises because the windows are out of warranty. Technician was ok but I had to provide a ladder and he complained the instruments weren't very good. And we had too many windows and it took to much of his time then he didn't measure all the windows. Some were not able to be reached from inside and he said the gauge wouldn't work from the outside. After Andersen sent the technician out with a gauge to see what windows had lost the argon then they made us a whopping deal we could purchase new windows and sashes at half retail price. If my house catches on fire my lawyer will contact Andersen.

    I have three types of Anderson windows in my house; a bow window, casement, and one gliding window. The gliding window is in the West wall of the house where it gets a fair amount of wind. The windows are less than 5 years old and the gliding window has had a air leak problem since installation. There was also a frost build up in the center of the window around the handle.

    Phone diagnostics with Anderson covered how square the window is, any broken or missing plastic tabs, and consistency of window edge gaps while partial open. An Anderson representative has told me that the gliders are not good windows to use in a location where winds can be high. That would have been nice to know before the purchase and installation.

    Anderson did send replacement seals a few years ago as part of their warranty. I did ask if there is a combination (storm) window that can be purchased to replace the screens that came with the window. There is a combination window that can be added, but it costs more than the total of the original window, screens and hardware. I have replaced the screens with a custom cut piece of plexiglass for the last two winters and that has eliminated the air filtration and frost accumulation on the inside of the window. I am going to be replacing this window with a double-hung and consider this window to have been a complete waste of money. I think that Anderson windows are nice for the most part, but I would strongly recommend against getting an Anderson gliding window.

    I purchased several windows from this company and they are supposed to be warranted. The seal broke 2 years ago. I have tried to contact them. My contractor has tried the same. Have been ignored, told on numerous occasions that I would receive a callback, etc. They don't communicate or stand by the product.     E rating means a window has a Emissivity of IR spectrum that holds in "warm". After 20 Years the windows stop working and Andersen does not care. "Lifetime warranty" is not your lifetime but as little as 5 years. Andersen does not make a good product. It does not last.

    Our house had Andersen windows when I bought it originally, and then we purchased partial replacements like the frame and we updated the glass. The contractor, who's generally likeable, did the work within the timeline he gave us, and it was completed about two months after we made the purchase. It took about four weeks to get the windows in and then a couple of weeks after that to get the contractor scheduled to come out.

    I like the quality of the windows that were hung, although some of the hardware could have been looked at on them. There were a few things that I needed to do on the windows still to get them operating the way they should. But the only thing, the big sliding windows that we got to replace ones that crank out are not similar. One slider runs a little smoother and the other one runs a little more finicky to get a good lock and seal. When we had a cold winter, I looked out in that window, and we had ice accumulating on the inside. It seems like the window just needs to be in a little more of an exact location when you lock it to lock properly. Even so, I’m happy overall.

    Had a problem with one of my storm doors. I called Andersen (800-933-3626) to find out what to do. I had my serial number and figured I could describe the problem and/or send pictures of problem. The CS rep could not understand me. She had to ask me my serial number four times. When she asked for my address she completed my sentence. She also knew my old phone number. So my door was registered and in their system yet she could not tell me if my door was still under warranty nor could she tell me the year I purchased the door.

    Her understanding of the English language was not good and when she asked a question she repeated my answer back all wrong. I tried to be understanding but this was a ridiculous waste of my time. I told her I was calling another number. I dialed 855-337-8811 this time, same problem with different CS rep. I asked her to let me speak to her supervisor but she just put me on hold then came back on line. I asked where her supervisor was and she ignored the question. I told her I was hanging up.

    I was disappointed in the 400 series casements. They close and lock poorly from day 1. I had several that leaked and they had to send a guy out to caulk the exterior. The hardware the covers that crank just sits on with no fastener so every time I open or close the window the cover pops off, total crap design and that guy should be fired. The windows came and many needed assembly which as a builder I have never seen. The decorative trim on the windows was never fastened or glued and came off of half the windows in the home. Quality control is almost nonexistent. I would not recommend these. Should have spent the extra money and got Pella because the time I've spent fixing these windows that are 5 months out has made these cost more than the Pella equivalent model.

    After visiting a local store I decided to purchase the 3000 series storm door with retractable screen. Not even 3 weeks after having it installed the screen began warping/bowing at the bottom near the trim area. Luckily, it was covered under the store warranty so they sent out a repair guy to fix/replace the screen at no charge to me. Imagine my surprise when less than a year had passed and the same issue happened. Now, I have to contact Andersen in order to resolve. They send out the replacement parts but I have to pay out of pocket for a repair person. Now, at just the 3 year mark of having the door installed, I am now having to pay a 4th time to have the same problem fixed. This is a bit ridiculous! At this point, it would make more sense to my bank account to just purchase a better quality door. I will not purchase any Andersen products in the future.

I was home for Thanksgiving and called Andersen to ask how much to replace the failed unit.     This is the worst window company. Do not buy Andersen Windows because you will never get anyone to service your windows after install and the last payment made to them.     I called customer service and provided photos of the mold being created by renown and coveted Andersen Windows about how mild is growing on their windows. I had a curt customer service representative who told me I caused the mold by using curtains and not keeping them open every moment of the day. I have lived in many homes with wooden windows. I never ever had mold on my windows nor was I taught that is standard protocol in maintaining windows and being safe. The customer reps response was it was my fault for not opening the curtains all day long.

    Outrageous! I was emailed a sheet on how I need to removed the mold and refinish the windows. I should remove the mold using some toxic DIY process and sand, stain and refinish the 12+ windows! They said the construction company stained the windows and it’s not their problem. Worst customer service ever! They do not stand by their product and it’s affecting my health, my young children and my husband. I’m one frustrated mom!

    I built our house in 2008 and used all Andersen Windows 400 series. The problem with the windows is on the exterior finish the cladding is cracked, split and peeling. I realize they only offer a 10 yr warranty on the structure and 20 yr on the glass. The date the windows were made is 10/2008. I reported a problem in 2/2019. 4 months out of warranty. I provided pictures and hoped for the best. Their resolution is to sell me replacement windows at a discount of 50% off. Come on 4 months out of date, I think what a bunch of BS. It's not just 1 either. It's 5 units for a total of 10 windows.

    I spent over 15,000 on their products when building our house and this is the thank you we get. I also had a panel separate from a sliding glass door and a casement window problem also, which they sent a tech out to fix with no cost to me but didn't replace them. I think the failure may have happened during the warranty period but due to the weather I'm not out much in the winter looking at my windows.

    My home was built in 2006 with the beautiful Andersen TW2452 windows with the vinyl interior grille. We had one of our lower sash windows break and needed a replacement and were told that we needed to purchase the window now with a wood interior grille insert and that it would not match the rest of the windows in our entire home! What is up with that? How does a company that sells millions of expensive windows make that decision? I was told by the customer service person that I would just have to make due somehow. I think that is just poor customer service. I would be willing to pay a bit more for production of my window if it is discontinued but to just say, "Sorry you are out of luck" is beyond comprehension!

    We discontinued the polycarbonate grilles in 2009. We are always trying to find ways to improve our products and periodically make changes. Through marketing, we felt it was time to move forward and just offer the interior grilles in wood. A replacement grille will look the same. It will have the same profile and pattern.     We had a new home built. In July 2018 new the water. There’s always a breeze and by winter that breeze made its way in our home. Had to put plastic over the windows to keep cold out. The plastic puffed out so much, I had to use heavy tape to keep up. The builder said he contacted the rep for Anderson to make an appointment with me but haven’t heard yet. It’s been a little over a week. I slept with a heating pad & an electric fireplace all winter long even with plastic on the windows. It also could be the way they were installed. Either way, I can’t go through another winter. At my age, it’s not healthy!

    Purchased home a year ago and part of purchase was based upon all windows were upgraded to Andersen, with 20 year transferable warranty. This January the inner glass pane on our French Door developed a hairline running horizontal crack after a cold spell (window NOT hit or damaged by accident). Contacted AW Support and was told by supervisor Amber that a spontaneous, "act of God" crack like this one is NOT covered under the warranty. AW case number **. Buyer beware before considering Andersen. Hope this is helpful in window/door shopping.

    I purchased this 3000 series door at a box store and had professionally installed. Was happy with everything for the first 5 days and then noticed the vinyl on the retractable screen was warped bowing inward. I thought I’d be calling local but customer service is Manila Philippines and I could just barely understand them. They are sending a part out in 21 days for me to repair.     It is almost impossible to remove my sliders for cleaning. I have only been able to remove the 2 kitchen windows for cleaning after a very hard struggle.     We put 34 200 series tilt wash double hung windows in our home when we built it in 2001 that were reported to have a 20 year warranty. One of the 34 has developed a gray haze on the inside that is very noticeable when the sun shines in the back of the house. There is no condensation. I talked to the customer service representative and sent them pictures as requested. He told me the window failure is not covered because it is a seal failure that likely occurred from chemical exposure. He could see in the picture we have a brick house so he assumed it was "a brick wash or acid rain or something". I explained that we built the house and there has never been a brick wash and we only use typical window cleaners like Windex which he states is fine.

    I find it hard to believe that acid rain only damaged one of the 34 windows when the window that failed is on the back of a 2 story house with a full walk out basement so it is essentially under the eaves on the 3rd floor but the lower units that get much more exposure are fine. They are happy to sell me replacement panes for $644 but won't honor their warranty. They acknowledged the failure is well within the 20 year warranty they advertise but for some reason have just decided based on a couple pictures that 1 out of 34 windows was exposed to some unknown chemical so they won't honor the warranty. I personally bought the windows and had them installed and have done all the home maintenance etc. Never used any chemicals. I don't think acid rain on one window that is probably one of the most protected windows in the house is very likely. Apparently the warranty is a sales tool but not something they actually honor.

    We built our home in 1990 and installed Andersen casement windows in our whole house. Several years ago we noticed that many of our windows have a defect in them that Andersen is aware of and is not willing to replace the glass that is breaking down inside the window. Apparently the seals are leaking and the window is losing gas that is in between the panes and causing both panes to suck in and touch. I contacted corporate today and they were aware of the defect but refused to replace the defective windows. I see here many have complained about similar issues and I think a class action suit should be brought against Andersen being they knew about this problem and are unwilling to stand behind their product and replace the bad panes. They were only willing to give us 50 percent of list price to replace their defective product. Totally unacceptable resolution to my problem. These windows are unsafe at this point.

    A year after the work was done, I am still working to get the work on my replacement windows fixed and the windows installed properly. One year later, there are still essential parts to several windows that are missing or not installed properly. The windows (100 series) themselves seem very good. The installation was sloppy, haphazard, and in some places is clearly off center, even to a non-professional like me. The installers dripped caulking on a bed, left refuse on site (and also some of their tools and materials). Some of the windows appear to have been installed in such a way that they don't open properly and several are done so poorly that the cold are leaks around the outside. I am still struggling to get them to correct the flaws. The more I learn, the clearer it is how poor the original install was. They have made some cosmetic repairs, and replaced the outside siding which fell down, but the essential poor installation remains.

    I am further astonished that even after they have made superficial attempts to make the project at least look better, no one has ever followed up to see if I am satisfied. I am not. I suggest you educate yourself before investing thousands of dollars in window replacement. They are good windows, it seems. But I am having to fight to get them to do the job I have paid a great deal of money for. I am about to seek help of outside professionals and I will follow up when there are results. But after a year, and multiple site visits by several of the more senior people, I can only say that I feel that the company is at best disingenuous, and at worst unscrupulous. And, I am not sure if they even care how their customers feel.

    Purchased 2 Patio Doors, had professional contractor install per Andersen’s instructions May 2018. We live in NE Pennsylvania, in the Pocono Mountains. We have had nothing but problems with both doors. We had Andersen’s local dealer come out to look at the problems with the air leaks. They notified Andersen and said a claim was generated. A representative from Andersen came here today to evaluate our claim (they do not seal and cold air is coming in). The doors are bowed, but according to their representative they are within tolerance. He stated it could take up to six months before the air leaks will stop. So basically at this point they aren’t doing anything about the air flowing into our house. Representative suggested that we put some insulation in the areas the air flow is. Total BS... Don’t buy. Also have air leak issues on 22 windows that are not sealing properly.

    We are building a house and we did our research on windows before deciding the 100 series composite windows best suited our priorities. We put the front casement window in today. It fit beautifully and looked great. I opened the window and noticed the center post of the double casement was caulked at the top and bottom with BLACK caulk. Our window is white. Unfortunately this site doesn’t upload photos. The caulk line is 1/2 an inch wide.

    We ordered a sliding door from Andersen, the 100 series, and they came to us scratched and damaged. After a call to them they suggested I clean them, and if they are still scratched after cleaning they will come out and look at them. They must not have believed me when I said they were scratched. But needless to say the scratches did not come out with a cleaning, so they agreed to send a new door after a month of back and forthcoming, but the door would take 6 weeks to get to us, and this was seriously putting our home renovation behind. After 6 weeks of waiting the new door comes in and is in worse shape than the 1st, and at this point we couldn’t wait any longer for a new ordered door. We were already behind. Andersen didn’t care to do anything about fixing this. You would think they would care enough about their product to protect it and make sure it’s sent in new condition. I would stay away from Andersen at all costs.

    I do not recommend Andersen windows. Due to a defect, my Windows (casement) leaked the Argon has between the glass panels. This causes the glass panels to collapse so that the panels touch each other towards the middle and leave an unsightly oval area that looks like condensation. The collapsed windows also lose insulating capability due to this issue. Andersen does not help with replacing these windows windows unless it’s during the first 20 years.

    This may seem ok with some but 20 years is not a lot for a major expense of a houseful of windows. Because it was a defect in the windows, Andersen should stand behind these windows and help repair/replace them. They do not. I also have an Andersen Frenchwood slider that rotted on the bottom of the stationary panel. I believe that Andersen initially had very good products but in later years have been just using their name to sell their products. I recommend that anyone looking to buy windows/doors find another company with a quality product.

    I had two Andersen 400 windows from the 90's that I ripped out during a bedroom renovation. Tore out all exterior drywall and reinsulated. I installed two new Andersen 400 series double hungs, thinking that the excessive condensation on the old windows was due to broken seals. Well, I was very wrong. The new windows are horrible. In out humidity meters in my bedroom and even at 25-30 percent indoor humidity these things are DRIPPING wet by the morning. Awful. To the point where even the bottom of the dashboard is wet. Wish I read this thread sooner, I never would have installed these.

    My Andersen inside window pane broke with no provocation. I called Andersen and they said someone from their warranty dept would call me... which they didn't. So I called 5 days later and they said because The window was over 20 years old they wouldn't cover it but would be happy to sell me the replacement glass for over $700. Windows shouldn't crack for no reason at all. It makes me concerned about the other 29 windows in my house.

    I did a review last summer after installed 400 series casement windows early spring of 2018 fogging up on outside almost every morning. Now that winter is here. Water has not dried up all winter on bottom of glass. I thought too much humidity in house. I was making up excuses hoping that was it too much humidity. No humidity down to 40%. Windows are just junk. Ice on a couple windows now. Poor choice of windows.

    Andersen windows came with the house when we bought it. I thought that was a plus. Until the windows started breaking without anyone touching them. Three of my windows broke this way. The inside glass shatters in a peculiar fashion. There are a couple of circles in the middle, in a number 8 shape, and rays going toward the edges. Only inside glass breaks, outside one is intact.

    After researching this issue, I found that Andersen knows about this issue, and in some cases have sent repairmen to people's houses to repair broken windows, and TEST THE OTHER WINDOWS IN THE HOUSE. The test procedure goes like this: they measure the distance between two panes of glass, and if it's less than 6mm, they repair it by drilling a hole in the side of the window to release air from outside into the space between the two panes of glass. After a while, the glass straightens, and the space between panes goes back to normal 10-15mm, at which point the hole drilled in the side of the window is plugged, finishing the repair. So to summarize: the glass breaks because it is pulled inwards by the low pressure between the two glass panes. The fact that my windows broke when it was very cold outside is consistent with low pressure causing the breakage.

    Let's get back to my issue, present day: in my case, the Andersen customer service rep Makayla and supervisor Amanda told me that because my windows are 31 years old, they are out of warranty, and they will not cover any costs. They were happy to provide me a quote for replacement parts of $815! Outrageous! If Andersen was such a reputable company, they would fix their faulty products. Instead they kept repeating: "out of warranty period", e.g. "our ** are covered". It may be legally correct, but it's definitely not customer friendly.

    At this time I mentioned that Andersen sent repairmen to other people's house, and outlined the testing and repair procedure I described above. The supervisor told me "That is an old procedure, we wouldn't do that these days, we would replace the whole window. But your windows are out of warranty..." So yes, they know about the problem. Now I expect the rest of my windows throughout the house to break. We have 18 of them. I WILL DEFINITELY NOT DO BUSINESS WITH ANDERSEN EVER AGAIN. Buyer beware!

    Recently completed an addition to my home and spent $10,000 on a storm door, 2 windows and a french door with window panel. The storm door #23839 didn't have a mechanism for the door to close properly. Looks like I have to buy that separately. That was $548 plus tax... My bigger issue is a $4312 french door 400 series. I didn't understand the standard door handle is an ugly tribeca white. Had I known that I would have asked for a metallic finish door handle.

    I am now stuck with an ugly white door handle that doesn't match the finishing anywhere in the build-out. Andersen is telling me I have to spend $500 on a new door handle and I am stuck with the white tribeca handle. I am sorry, but for $4300 something more should be done for me. My family recently spent $25k on Andersen Windows for another home. I won't be using Andersen again and I will be needing more windows in the next year. Sorry, Andersen - you make a good product and your prices are premium but are lacking in customer service and you clearly don't care about taking care of a customer.

    We are building a new home. We bought the E series windows. They are supposed to be the best. We have spent a great deal of money for the Windows and doors. First the expensive front door was the wrong size. Took an extra 8 weeks to get a new one. We have a very large window was not mulled together when shipped. The window had no installation instructions. No one not even Andersen window techs knew how to mull together and install. They sent three guys to my house that didn't have a clue. They were there 10 hours and installed the window incorrectly. So the trim for the window was destroyed and had to order it for the third time.

    It took over three months for the window trim and window to be installed by someone we hired. We bought these Windows from 84 Lumber. Their rep is Stephen **. He promised great service and a great product. We got neither. Then we were contacted by Arthur **. He promised we would be compensated for all the trouble. But never heard back from him. My husband finally contacted him only for him to say and I quote "I overstepped my bounds and cannot do anything for you." Buyer Beware!!! Do Not Buy Andersen Windows.

    Being a house builder, and constructing my new home, I installed "A" Series double hung and casement windows. Upon installation, as the temperature drops below 20 degrees, moisture starts to build on the glass in the nighttime hours and when the sun rises in the morning and the temperature rises the moisture will start to dissipate. I notice that on my Southside exposure, the moisture will diminish faster than the windows on the North side. I contacted my lumber yard and had a rep from Andersen visit my home. Upon seeing the moisture on the windows, he claimed "this was normal". Further questioning about my casements being tighter than double hungs, why should moisture appear? Why is it my Therma-Tru doors with windows that are adjacent to casement windows have no moisture buildup?

    So three years later, no satisfaction or answers from Andersen, and am now experiencing paint lifting from my interior sashes. Recently at a product show where Andersen was a participant, I had a lengthy conversation with the Andersen Salesperson and at that time he admitted that Andersen was having trouble with the coating on their glass which creates the insulating factor for the glass. So I ask myself, "Now What?" After spending all of this money on 16 units. As a builder I can no longer recommend Andersen.

    Had four new windows installed in Feb. 2018. In October 2018, I noticed condensation on the bottom of all four windows: two windows were box bays with cranks, one sliding window and one fixed window. I called Anderson and set up an appointment and explained my issue. The caller stated that this is normal??? I said not for what I paid for this things!

    Anderson came to inspect the windows and stated this is “normal!” This can't be normal... where cold air and warm air meet condensate forms. Anderson then stated that the bottom (where the condensate forms) of the window is colder hence the reason for the condensate! Apparently Anderson window are not well insulated because now the condensate will start to rot the veneer. Anderson handed us a brochure “Understanding Condensation.” The brochure covered a few things but nothing that fits my situation.

    The closest example was a glass with ice water “sweating” or condensating... which is where warm air meets cold air... hence condensation forms!!! No different than my windows... warm air is escaping, windows poorly insulated/installed and Anderson will not recognize they have faulty products and have not backed the warranty of their products! SAVE YOURSELF MONEY... GO WITH AN INEXPENSIVE BRAND... WHEN THE WINDOW FAILS YOU WON’T BE OUT OF TOO MUCH MONEY!!! Of course Anderson did nothing but hand us a pamphlet.

    OK the window is beautiful and fit our spot on a staircase landing nicely! But when it came time to try and wash this tilt in double hung window BEWARE! You will need a few college degrees to figure out how to release the sashes and then putting them back into their tracks! My husband and I read the directions, which are poor. We are big home DIYers! It took us an hour to perform what should have been a simple task! I WOULD RATHER BUY A LESS EXPENSIVE SLIGHTLY LESSER QUALITY WINDOW, KNOWING I WILL BE ABLE TO CLEAN IT WITH EASE!

    I ordered 5 replacement screens. All 5 fit, however, 3 had the crossbar at wrong position. I called and was told needed "cottage window" screens. Cost $186.19 to return the incorrect. It would almost have been cheaper to throw the new screens away! DO NOT use online ordering! Make sure you call the 800 number and talk to a representative. Save yourself lots of money and lots of time and frustration. The Online process should warn a customer of multiple configurations and warn them that they will have to pay full UPS costs to have them returned. Very disappointed with Andersen on this matter.

    I ordered a window sash from Andersen on Wednesday 8/15 and was told I would receive it in “10-15 business days”. The end of that period was Thursday 9/6. I have since called them periodically as recounted below. Friday 9/7. The window was still not picked up by UPS. Wednesday 9/12. The window, which was supposedly just waiting to be picked up, was given an “extra inspection” and was due to reach me “early to mid next week”, which would be around 9/19.

    Thursday 9/20: UPS broke the window. I was told it would have to be made again. There was no possibility of a price accommodation for my troubles. However, when I spoke with a supervisor named “Adaliz”, I was told it would be "expedited" and reach me within a week. Wednesday 9/26: I spoke with another supervisor, “Nicole”. I was told that the factory declined the expediting and that the window was due to leave factory on 10/9.

    Tuesday 10/9: I was told that the window was manufactured on Friday 10/5 and that I should receive it by the end of week or Monday. Monday 10/15: The window was still waiting to be loaded on a truck. Thursday 10/18: The window was still waiting to be loaded on a truck. The person I spoke to said that he would email the loading dock to make sure it got on the truck soon. I was told it was getting "extra packaging care" because of the prior breakage. I was told I would be emailed a tracking # so that I could monitor its delivery.

    Friday 10/19: The window arrived with no email notification. Several of the packing straps were dangling off the package. When I unpacked it, I found that a screw and bolt were both damaged, making it unable to be installed. I will be contacting them on Monday to find out what they plan to do to actually get me the item for which I was charged back on September 13 but which they seem to be unable to successfully build, track, or ship.

    My Andersen 3000 w/ Retractable Screen Storm Door on my home is a bit older but not outdated by any means. The upper ventilating glass panel cracked then shattered all over my front staircase randomly one day. Fun times shop vac-ing glass shards out of your flower beds and sidewalk crevices. Got online to order a replacement glass panel for the door. Using the serial number they specifically requested in searching for the correct parts. Nowhere on that website was there a note stating that my door was no longer made, thus I would also need to purchase a new retractable screen for it as well. So I simply ordered the glass panel assuming it would be a direct replacement.

    Get the product (1.5 weeks later), after 3 hours of shoddy PDF instructions and Youtube videos, get the old glass frame out and the new one in. Only to find out it will not match up with the retractable screen. I call Andersen this time - and get a partial English speaking representative on the other line who literally repeated what I had explained to her 5 times, telling me that I would now need to drill holes into this new glass panel to make my old screen fit it. WAIT WHAT? NO - Even had I drilled holes - this screen would not have worked with this new panel.

    Absolutely not the answer. I demanded a USA representative in which I was given one. He listened to the problem and agreed that I would in fact need a new retractable screen that is meant to be in party with the glass pane as they are a pair. I was furious. I said I didnt want to wait another 1.5 weeks for a screen AND pay $50 for one AFTER the fact. Had their website noted that non-fully-compatible parts would shipped with my older door, I would have been able to order them both at the same time. That rep apologized and said he would ship me a no cost replacement screen right away.

    Great I thought. Well, 10 days later - no screen. I call Andersen. They shipped it to my billing address, and not the shipping address. Which was 5 hours drive away from the home that needed the part. Furious again, I asked what was going to be done now as I have now waited almost a month with a half functioning storm door. Once again, the rep stated they would ship me a replacement screen pronto. It's 2 days later and I have yet to see a shipping label created. WAY TO SUCK, Andersen. If this hurricane season blows the door off its hinges - I will never again buy from Andersen again.

    We purchased our storm door from the Home Depot. After using for at least 5 plus years as our primary source of ingress and egress into our house, the hinges started to fail. I spent some time on the Andersen website and was pleased to find that by just proving the serial number, my door and related parts came right up. I was all set to order the failed part when I read that they offered lifetime warranty. I called Customer Service and after only a few minutes, Dan told me that the hinges were covered and that they would send me a replacement hinge. Turns out it's the entire hinge assembly. Expected it to take a week or so but got the part in 2 days. Unlike some of the other reviews I've read that only complained about poor service, I thought that a positive experience should be rewarded with a good review. Only 4 stars because I felt that the part shouldn't have really failed.

    Original Review: I installed new 400 series casement windows this summer. Low E with sun block. The first was one lock broke before I finished putting all the hardware on. Two other locks very tight. No big deal right. They have no warranty on workmanship. So once you sign for them you better know how to fix yourself. Another almost every morning through the summer, they would fog up on outside at night you could not see out? I do not know if all window manufactures are like this. I will not buy another ANDERSEN WINDOW AGAIN. So if you're buying windows I would check if they cover labor?

    I ordered Anderson Windows, they are very expensive so I expected that all the work would be done properly. The sales person said that a vinyl outside would be superior to wood and would match exactly our current windows (our home is 100 years old). The installers were surprised that we were using vinyl since they said they would not match the rest of the house and called the salesperson as I was not available. He said to just use vinyl anyway.

    When I returned and saw how bad it looked not only did the vinyl not match but the seams did not connect and it was bent on the top overall it looked really bad. We did not have them do vinyl on the other windows and they removed the vinyl and put in wood however they did not match the look of the other windows and have yet to come out and complete the job. One of their Managers named Mitch called to say their crew said it was complete and they have still not completed the work. The installers are obviously not skilled carpenters - very disappointing to pay too much and still not have to job completed.

    I purchased Andersen windows for my home remodel project. As part of that project we purchased 2 dual paned bow windows. These were quite expensive but we loved them. Several years later one window got moisture inside it, since it was still under warranty we contacted Andersen. They sent us a replacement window unit but did not offer to install. We contacted Andersen dealers and found none that would do the install. We contacted Renewal By Andersen but they also would not install.

    This is only one section of 5 in the bow unit not an entire window replacement, sending us a replacement section with no option to install is not what our expectations were. We still have not been able to get this window section installed, our warranty has expired and now the replacement section is still sitting gathering dust and our window is just getting more moisture inside it with no way to clean. With all their positive advertising they just don't stand up to the hype. Given the chance I would not pick them as a window choice.

    We have 10 Andersen windows in our house, which we paid a lot of money for! The screen is one huge panel with two flimsy clips at the bottom which rust and bend. These are a mother's nightmare. My cards pop them open easily and jump out of the house, once almost falling from a second story window. Now I have small children and it’s a terrifying issue. I called Andersen today and brought it to their attention as a design flaw that creates a safety issue. They told me they have a little warning tag at the bottom that protects their ** (they didn’t say that in those words) and that they are insect screens only.

    We had a custom built home constructed in 2005. One of the double pane accent windows fogged up after 6 years. Andersen said they would replace window but we would have to pay installation cost. Installation cost quotes was expensive. Never would I have Andersen Windows again.

    We ordered a door which took two months to deliver to Home Depot. After getting it home found that the frame was the wrong size and color. Us and Home Depot had to prove to them it was wrong then another month delay and they sent another frame. This time part of the frame was not for this door. It took much arguing to get a supervisor to listen to us and after another month sent the right part of the frame. The door is finally in after 4 months. The quality is poor. I can only assume their factory doesn’t have a no drug policy. The latching mechanism is junk and unless you close AND lock the door it won’t stay shut.

    When ordering anything make sure you ask for someone from the USA??? They ship calls out to make it cheaper on them. Then the person does not even understand what you want to order. I was told ten days that the storm door window be at my place. It was a replacement window that broke during a storm and cut me in many places. Had to go ER to get treated. But the window took 16 days to get. They kept passing the buck saying I misunderstood them. They never call back and update you even if you ask them to. I never buy or replace a window from this company. It cost me 82.00 for window and 550 security deposit fit to getting the window late. I lost my security deposit on old apartment. All they said is, "I’m sorry we can’t do anything." This is a crappy way to do business.

    I had these doors installed about 10 years ago in my LI home. After 3 years the metal part in the center on the outside started rusting and peeling. I contacted Andersen. They sent me a replacement part which would necessitate the whole door to be taken apart at a considerable labor cost. So much for the warranty. You get a replacement part but the labor to fix is your bill. 10 years later, the door won't even close properly. I got the kit to adjust the windows and it worked for some years but not now. I feel Andersen warranty is a joke since it only covers cheap parts but not the labor to replace which is the expensive component. Amazingly, there are some older Andersen windows in my home, which apart from seal in double glass which gave up, are still functional. They may be OK for windows but I would think twice about the french doors given the many issues I had within three years of installation.

    I purchased three Andersen windows that were very expensive after hearing all of the great things the salesmen tell you. What they do not tell you is that the aluminum frames on the outside of the house are very weak and to not stand up to small hail storms. My frames were dented by pea size hail. The company wants $1036 to replace the frames and two screens. That is nearly 25% of the cost of the entire project. The frames on the rest of my home have been there for 14 years and they were not damaged. I wish I had gone with a different company when I needed to have three windows replaced.

    So disappointing, horrible company, horrible product. I purchased a new home 14 years ago. 9 years later after buying the house my windows were falling apart, at the bottom of the sash, exterior portion. I called Anderson Windows, they transferred me several times and eventually I found out that the windows only carry a 10 year warranty. They told me I was out of luck because the windows were now 10 years old. I told them I only had the brand new house with brand new Anderson Windows for 9 years, they told me the windows must have been in the warehouse for 2 years.

    After quite a bit of annoying conversation I told them I would contact an attorney about this at which point they transferred my call again and a nasty lady came on and seemingly taking notes asking me again about the situation. She said she would get back to me but never did. Since that time I have had several bottom sashes completely rot out. There is no other alternative but to purchase an entire new window for $250, while just the bottom sash needs replacement and I am certain I am not the only one with this problem as they now refer you to local companies, rude companies, greedy companies, charging thousands of dollars for this service, you can't talk to Anderson about this anymore.

    Fortunately I'm a pretty good carpenter and have a miter saw. I have been able to fabricate this part, quite easily out of a nice piece of oak, some paint and some good glue. There is definitely planned obsolescence here and there should be some sort of recall by the government, required. They knowingly (10 year warranty shortened to 8 years), fabricate the window out of a very, very soft wood then cover it with a thin vinyl, the vinyl does not block moisture, it just looks nice and shiny when new.

    Furthermore the hardware is breaking inside the window, a 10 cent piece but you have to purchase the entire lifting mechanism for to get to the 10 cent piece and quite a sum of money. Now, one by one, the sashes are rotting and the hardware is breaking all around the house. I have 27 of these windows and it would cost me roughly $10,000 to replace all the windows over the next few years.

    It is noteworthy that my mother has a house almost 100 years old, in the city, which still has the original windows. Sure she has them painted every 15 years or so but they are still strong and will last another 100 years without any doubt. So, why would anybody, especially Anderson, make a window that would last less than 10 years? I think we all know the answer. Never again Anderson Windows or products. If I ever buy a house and it has Anderson Windows, I will not buy that house. Hope this helps people.

    Completely disappointed in Anderson Windows! My husband and I bought Anderson Windows for our entire house 6 years ago. I clean my windows regularly, however, within the first two years of buying the windows ("A-Series" which is their "top of the line") we noticed water stains along the bottom ridge of the upper window. I spoke to my contractor, who completely recommended these windows, showed him the staining and together we tried to remove the stains with no luck. My contractor advised me to call the Anderson Representative to show him. After calling a few times, the representative called me back and scheduled an appointment to see the staining and the screens which were installed with the windows, and were now literally falling apart.

    He ordered new replacement screens and told me to use Soft Scrub to get the stains off since he had no luck removing the stains either. I was afraid the Soft Scrub would damage the windows further, and asked him to try it on the windows, at which point he did, and had zero luck. The screens were replaced, but the staining remains. I called the rep continuously over the next two years, but received no response. I then called the local distributor for Anderson here in South Jersey, who sent men out to look at the windows. They deemed it necessary to replace one and recommended using this spray to try to get the stains out. After replacing the window, I called the Anderson Hotline to request that they look at the stains and pay the supplier for his work.

    ANDERSON DID NOTHING FOR ME OR THE SUPPLIER! After being on the phone for LITERALLY two hours, (plus being put on hold for 20 minutes twice), texting pictures of the stains, measuring and telling the story, Anderson told me that they are not responsible for the windows. That this is not covered under their warranty and "it's not a manufacturing problem". The most insulting part of this entire encounter, was when the one Anderson Representative, MARK, told me to "put a little more elbow grease into it when you wash them"! I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU DO NOT BUY THESE WINDOWS!

    I purchased 48 doors and windows for one of my projects. This is my first experience with Andersen's products, and it turned out to be a terrible experience. First, the products' qualities were poor. Three windows were warped within 6 months of the installation, and one was jammed. I called Andersen to report the problems, the service rep gave me a long list of information I need to send in along with the photos of the defected products. I asked if they have service personnel that can come to look at defect and provide appropriate replacement or repair. She said they never send out anyone. The products' qualities are poor and customer service is terrible. Will never use any Andersen products for my future projects.

    My father worked in the construction field and do remodeling on my parent’s home. Unfortunately he was under the impression that Andersen Window Company manufactured a quality window. Now approximately 25 years later many of the windows around their home are exploding for no known reason. When the Andersen Window company was contacted they admitted knowing about the issue and apologized but stated the glass in their windows was only covered for 20 years and we were past the coverage period. There are probably 20 Andersen windows throughout their home. Each window has two panes. The replacement cost is over $200 per window. Enough said. We are not happy campers.

    I placed an order on the website for a replacement door handle for my storm door on the 23rd of May. I received a confirmation email that read, "Your order will be processed and shipped within 1 to 4 business days. We will send you a shipment confirmation once your order leaves our warehouse..." I called customer service and talked to a guy that says to me 'Generally, your order is shipped within 4-5 business days from the date of the shipping email.' That would have been yesterday. And then he says to give it until Monday to see if the tracking number will generate any movement results. The worst! I told him I'll give it until Monday, but after that I will be contacting Amex to dispute these charges. And then we'll just buy another manufacturer's door because if I'm going through this for a handle, I can only imagine the debacle a whole door would bring!

    I built my home in 1978. I was a builder and worked with my father who was also a licensed contractor. We built a number of homes in the mid Michigan area. At that time Anderson windows had a reputation as being the best available. We must have installed over 100 of them. The most popular window being the Anderson Perma-Shield. These were wood-vinyl clad slider windows. They had a 25 year warranty. These windows were properly leveled and installed with proper flashing to Anderson specs. We never had any insulation complaints. If there was a problem they were referred to Anderson. If you never open a window, then you probably would never have a complaint.

    After 2 years of owning these windows, the windows would not slide properly. They would stick in the tracks and jam in the slides. After numerous attempts to contact Anderson through the years about this problem, Anderson told me that we make a spray to make the window slide easier and we know we have a problem with these clad windows as the wood swells from condensation between the vinyl clad and the wood, therefore we will be discontinuing Anderson Perma-shield windows. Really nice after paying over 10k in those days. One of the windows had a distorted pane and Anderson refused to replace it until I threatened them with a suit. They then sent a representative out that called their company and explained that the window glass, did have a problem.

    As time went by, I replaced the severe problem windows with Anderson crank outs. I owned these about 10 years and have 2 of them with broken crank outs. They probably were opened and closed 20 times in 10 years. I am very lucky to have these windows as I can still purchase the crank mechanisms, but that is it because all other parts have been discontinued. As far as the Perma-shield windows nothing is available and haven't been available for about 10 years. So, Anderson has a great gimmick. Buy their windows, with a great warranty and we will discontinue that model after a few years and get out of any warranty. Don't waste your time and money with the best windows made. Buy the 2nd best windows made and you will not only be happier, but a little richer.

    I built my home myself in 1982. I was advised to get Andersen Windows, wood inside, white cladding on outside, screens and snap in grids. Zero problems in 38 years. All excellent condition. Even my Andersen sliding glass door is still like new condition. I am building an addition now and see the warranties and articles saying windows expected life is only like 20 years. I don't know what type my new 8 windows will be yet as the prices are very high now. By the way, I am in Ohio with extreme hot and cold weather.

    An Andersen door lock failed and I attempted to contact an authorized repair through their website -- there was only ONE in Brea, CA and the next near San Diego. We are in Newport. I finally made contact with an Andersen chat person and determined that the part was available through them (repair in Brea did not have part) and ordered it. There is no way to ask for expedited shipping nor any way to check for the website gives you a message "ONLINE ORDER TRACKING IS NOT AVAILABLE FOR ORDERS PLACED BY PHONE." I did not call my order in, I ordered it on their website.

    I called Andersen and they told me how long it takes depends on the part. Gave him the part, my order number, etc. and he still could not give an answer. When your door lock is broken, you want fast, reliable repair and or parts. You get neither with Andersen.     I must say I am totally happy with my installation of my windows. Yes, they are expensive. I knew that right at the first, I wasn't looking for a bargain, just a good window and something beautiful. They are beautiful and my installers were perfect, I had one that wasn't measured correctly but they reordered it and installed that window perfectly. Now there is a pane problem. Not sure exactly what it is but they called me to let me know that the panes on 4 windows are defective. They are replacing them this Friday and also are staining the wood which was done after the original installation at my expense. So, they are staining them for me because it's their fault since those windows need replacing. I have nothing at all to complain about. I had wonderful installers and a wonderful sales Rep. Carol **. They are pricey but those windows are gorgeous! I love them and they do not leak air.

    I have a set of Anderson dual swing patio doors in terratone color that have Anderson's known delamination issue. They offered us a 50% discount on replacement doors. I just called them today to order replacement doors and now they won't honor their own recall. There is no way I will pay $2500 to replace the panes when I can replace the entire doors with something better for the same price. Worthless company.

    Our original French doors arrived damaged. Andersen replaced the damaged panels, but ever since then the doors haven't worked correctly. They firmly stick to the threshold, and have to be lifted and shoved open using our shoulders. (I am 66 with arthritis, so it's not an easy task!) Andersen has sent authorized door people who have adjusted the doors several times. They still don't work. They now will replace the hinges and defective panel (door), but expect us to pay for the installation. Which will cost us about $400. The doors are under warranty, but we need to pay??? We are very disappointed!

    In 2007 I spent 7K on double French exterior doors for our back door to our patio. Since the first year, the hardware in these doors has been problematic. The locking mechanisms jam and the actuator has been replace multiple times. Once the door jammed so badly we could not exit the rear of the house using it until a locksmith arrived. The hardware spring in a handle broke today and I have called a custom door maker to come out and bid on replacing the Andersen product. The design of the locking mechanisms run the full height internally to the door so using replacement hardware from another manufacturer is not an option. The door has not been able to be locked for more than a year and I installed slide bolts on the inside of the doors to make them secure.

    I have a nine-year-old house with all Andersen windows. My kitchen has a very large very expensive architectural window that developed a crack on the inside pane all the way across it. Having a 10-year warranty I called them to have it repaired. They tell me that it must have been a bad piece of glass and that they only pay for the glass. I will have to pay to have it installed at the cost of $450.00. They try to act like they are standing behind their windows boasting a ten-year warranty. Corporate greed is what they are about making a profit off of their faulty product. If you are going to put in a big window in your new home to enjoy the view I would buy another brand unless you want a big crack to look at or a big repair bill. They told me that my window was built in Canada not the United States another reason not to buy their product.

    I have installed several Andersen 400 double hung windows. I install myself so do take extra care in the installation. I have not had any trouble with air leaks, screens not fitting, etc. I am completely satisfied with them. Since I have no complaints, I have no experience with warranty problems as others in the reviews.

    It is my opinion that problems arise when they are not installed correctly as directed by Andersen.

    Installed Series 600 windows in 2015 in a new construction home. Fighting condensation problems inside of the window edges when the temperature drops below 25. I keep the inside humidity about 40% according to National healthy conditions. Andersen says 25% so the windows will not condensate. This 25% is unhealthy humidity. Every time I call Andersen Windows it falls on deaf ears. My argument is with today’s technology why do Andersen Windows still use aluminum seal between the panes is of glass. Aluminum is the best conductor of thermal transfers there is. What cools quicker in your fridge!!! Aluminum can of beverage or a glass bottle. I have called for a representative several times to my residence. Still waiting since 2015. To you buyers that even thinking of Andersen Windows. Do your research.

    We purchased thousands of dollars worth of windows from Andersen Windows. After installation and all protective sheeting removed we noticed several large scratches on the windows and they are all in between the panes, which proves we didn’t do it. The screens don’t fit correctly leaving gaps where bugs come in and one of the latches also doesn’t work. They gave us another set of screens which also don’t fit and don’t know what else to say.

    They inspected the scratches and said they would replace the glass in 2 of the 7 damaged windows but didnt think it was necessary to fix the other 5. These are large picture windows and we see these scratches all the time. Our concern is them not sealing properly after they pulled the glass out and put the new glass in and the damage they will do pulling the wood trim off to get to the glass. These are 5 & 6 ft windows and the scratches extend halfway through some of them. They admitted it must have happened in the factory but that’s all they would do. Nothing has been settled and it’s been a year now. Very disappointed in a company that is supposed to be so good and won’t back their product.

    Built our home in 1992, installed Andersen windows throughout. The double-panel windows fixed are custom made and are not functioning due to the panes closing in on each other. A technician came out and drilled holes in the outer pane and supposedly fixed the window by “pulling” it out or releasing it and silicon filled the hole. Not a single window is repaired. We were scammed by Andersen when we need every defective outer pane replaced.

    We bought a spec home in Michigan, four years ago. It was a higher end home, so we thought it was pretty well built. A bit surprised that our windows did not tilt in for cleaning. After a year or two I called the builder about our bedroom being cold and condensation and ice on our windows, which was then causing mold to form. I was forwarded to Andersen, with not much success.

    Over the last 4 years my wife’s cough has gotten worse and my daughters room runs 5-7 degrees colder than the rest of our house, so she is always sick too. I used to live in Maine and never had problems like this. After multiple attempts to contact the builder, supplier and window manufacturer, with no luck, we finally had to spend $32k to replace all our windows and slider. Once my realtor got involved, it did actually get the builder and supplier out, but both said not their issue.

    The windows didn’t stop the heat from a heat lamp from coming thru, so they said the gases were gone. Which would explain the cold and why it is so hot during the summer. There also is not a good latch, so we could push up and down on the window when they were closed, so thus not a good seal on the back of the window stopping hot or cold air from coming in. So that probably explains the condensation. The frame was also not insulated with filler, so the top window sat outside of our wall, so air might have been able to come around through the frame. Overall amazed that we just replaced all or our windows in a 4 year old house. I always thought of Andersen as a good brand. I don’t feel that way anymore. I’ll probably never buy an Andersen window again.

    This review comes as a result of another day of condensation on our 3-year-old A-Series windows. Each morning from November till early May we have to wipe the condensation from our windows. The door are Therma-Tru and they are completely dry. The Andersen Window Co. says the humidity in the home is the issue. We have gone to great lengths to measure humidity and control it to eliminate the problem but guess what. Same ** different day. It’s just frustrating that Andersen will spend millions to explain the issues that arise from too much humidity on their site but won't do anything to fix the windows we purchased. A contractor we know told us they heard at a trade show that the glass in the windows is defective... But it seems we are just people that work hard for our money so we don't matter. No one will listen if it going to cost time and money to fix the issue.

    I am a painter by trade and I have painted windows for 20 years and have never seen new windows perform so poorly as these A-Series do. What a shame that a window can look so good but perform so poorly. Every day we wake to condensation on every window in the house and must spent 30 to 45 minutes wiping the moisture away. Fear of mold and rot makes this process a permanent part of our day. Imagine buying windows that were made for historic New England that can't live up to their name. Shame on Andersen Windows for taking advantage of hardworking people. By the way the humidity in our house today is 51% which is well within the limits that are recommended. Funny thing is that's where it is all the time but it’s humidity that's causing the problem.

Andersen blames issues on installers even though both properties were installed by two different certified Andersen contractors. They assume no responsibilities for a subpar product.     I am 70 yrs old and disabled. I need 8 sashes for my home. I called Andersen to find out how to go about getting the correct sashes. They were able to provide them to me, but the price was quite high. They assured me that the best price was going to be from them, the manufacturer. I was only able to afford 4 sashes because of price. I found out a few days later that Home Depot sold the same product for less than half the price. Andersen won't let me cancel order without a huge restocking fee. They lied to me. Now I can't repair all my windows and they are laughing at me all the way to the bank. Completely unethical and possibly illegal business practices.

    I've been trying to order grid inserts for months. In the beginning, I got no communication from the company unless I initiated it and now lately they will not even respond to emails. They are blaming a recent system update on order not being placed which I find totally bull since the system upgrade (email 10/17/17) happened recently and the order was emailed 9/26/17. My advice is to not order from Andersen until they can find employees who actually have customer service skills.

    Live on new acreage in the country. Very few mature trees protecting us. Purchased a fairly new home here but the windows leaked. Decided to replace the leaky windows approximately "3 years" ago. Purchased "A-series" double-hung windows from Eddie, at Marcus Lumber, Marcus, Iowa. Had some of the windows installed by Chris **. Excellent installation and workmanship. Half of the windows leaked (4 windows and patio door leak, interesting... Other 4 do not leak.) Called Marcus Lumber and no one returned our calls. Called Andersen Windows and it took forever (i.e., 30-45 min. hold) to get through and when you finally got through they'd transfer you, only to hold, again! The representatives were difficult to work with (e.g., they required us to explain details that were difficult as we are not window experts. Their customer service representatives were very short with us.)

    Took about a month and they sent technicians out to tweak things on the windows. Their name (no relation) was (** -- Brad & Wayne). Really decent guys who tried hard to find ways to stop leaks. The window technicians (Brad & Wayne) reported that our windows were installed properly with excellent workmanship. The windows still leaked. I called the window technicians (Brad & Wayne) back and they came again two more times trying to tweak things. The windows still leaked.

    My husband went "into" Marcus Lumber to complain. The representative said they would check with Andersen Windows but they didn't know because "Andersen Windows is difficult to deal with." Marcus Lumber didn't get back to us... ever. I took the initiative and called Marcus Lumber (Tom) back about 4 months later explaining what had happened. They promised that they'd take care of it as soon as possible. Months passed. Two men from (I think both from Marcus Lumber? Maybe Andersen reps?) came and inspected our windows. Three months passed and we didn't hear back.

    I took the initiative again, and called Marcus Lumber and told Tom that he'd be hearing from me every week until something further was done. Tom is always pleasant and empathetic. Tom said he needed to get a hold of Dennis (**?) in Sioux Falls, SD. Tom would call and email Dennis and weeks would pass. Finally he emailed Dennis and copied me. This morning the window technicians (Brad & Wayne) are at my house as I write. I ask, “What can be done? Can we get different windows? These are defective.” Wayne explains: "Mostly we make improvements in the field."

    I want to remind you this has been going on for three years! Andersen Windows has not yet stood behind any warranty. Please, I urge you not to buy any A-Series double-hung windows from Andersen. They are defective! They leak! Andersen Windows customer service is absolutely horrible. They have difficulty working with the retailers. The ball gets dropped. The retailers are nice to you -- even when you call every week -- but nothing gets accomplished and it's slow as molasses. You have to take the time and make assertive initiatives or nothing will get fixed. This is one of the worst spends (decisions) we've made.

    We still have some of Andersen A-Series windows in our garage. My husband cannot stomach installing more of these windows. Soon... he'll be using my hair dryer and that plastic stuff you buy at ACE Hardware to put on the windows to keep the cold Midwest wind out of our home. Our electric bills remain high. My windows look tacky and you have to look through a plastic film to see out. Our request would be to receive new and improved double-hung windows or maybe casements if their double hungs are still defective -- which they might still be. For your own sake, do not buy or work with any Andersen Window retailer. You will regret it.

    My house was built in 2007 and the doors were purchased from Andersen. In 2012 the lock mechanism on the door handle broke and was replaced under warranty. Now in 2017 the same part has again broken and warranty is denied because the original part purchase has exceeded 10 years. The fact that this same part is defective and has to be replaced again after just 5 years is not considered. Repairs will have to be made at my expense for a faulty product that the manufacturer will not stand behind.

    Had 1 window quoted and it was 2000.00 for 1 without grids in the window and 2500.00 with grids. If you buy 4 about 8000.00. That’s highway robbery to the average working man!     My husband and I placed an order for a $2500 oak Anderson window July 21, 2017 from Mentor Lumber and we worked with Tim ** to purchase the window. The window was delivered on time, we briefly inspected the window for gashes and dings in the wood and accepted the delivery but noted that there were sizable gaps in the corners that were not flush as they should have been. Mentor Lumber was notified of this and a service tech was sent to our house 1 week later. He informed us that all gaps could be corrected for with new stops. We waited another 4 weeks for the new window stops to be delivered and installed. We were still dissatisfied with gaps and the way the screens were fitting in the window. We were told by Tim ** that he would come out to our house to inspect the defects.

    In late August Tim came out to our house and told us the gaps in were unacceptable and the frames in fact did not fit the windows. We were told once more to wait another 4 weeks for different parts to be ordered and were reassured that everything would fit properly. It is October 6 - we were supposed to receive a phone call this week regarding parts and/or update regarding what was being done to correct this issue. This is unacceptable. My husband and I will be contacting the company to have the window uninstalled. When paying $2500 for 1 window you have expectations. These expectations have continued to go unmet since July 21, 2017 to date.

    The storm door is acceptable. I bought it from Home Depot. However the Andersen online chat person said that there was no difference between the inside and outside of the panel. Using this information I had solar protective film applied to the panel. However there is a difference, there is a lip on the inside of the panel and the door panel now has the film on the outside where it is not supposed to be.

    Problems with 200 Series Narrowline Andersen Gliding Door - I am a general contractor who's been in the business for nearly 30 years. This review is in reference to a kitchen remodel that was completed in August 2017. I made the suggestion to remove a 25 yr. old 5' French door and small bay window and replace both with a 3 panel, 12' sliding glass door. Other windows in the house were 20 year old Andersen Windows with the customer having no complaint issues with them. The door was purchased ($6,800) through a local lumber yard. It came delivered within 3 weeks of ordering. So far so good...

    I assumed it would be a 3 panel unit with a continuous 12' sill and header (like Pella's) but it was 2 units. One being a standard 2 panel 8' slider. The other was a 4' fixed unit. The 2 units needed to be "mold" together with screws and silicone. Oh speaking of silicone (see pics) horrible sealant job! I can see sill/header leak problems eventually occurring at the joint where the 2 units meet. Interior trim issues were numerous. Gaps at joints, wood strips miscut, no pre-drilled holes for hardware or foot lock, and finally the retractable screen.

    I've never seen so many parts and non-informative installation instructions. To adjust the tension on the screen, you need to physically remove the entire screen housing! What a flimsy, expensive excuse for a screen. I contacted Andersen for service on the retractable screen, the service guy said I should give it a good coat of WD-40 and that would fix the screen from gaping when opened or closed. I have a one word suggestion for all of you homeowners out there P E L L A !

    We ordered Andersen Windows for our new house on July 14. We were told they would be delivered by August 14. We are now being told that our order was not processed correctly in their system and our windows will not be delivered until September 11. This is holding back our entire building process as we cannot get electricity/HVAC etc. into the house until it is weatherproof. Our plywood is getting soaked every time it rains and we are also going to be paying more since our framers will have to return in four weeks with all their equipment to install the windows. Andersen admitted to the mistake but is doing nothing to expedite our order. It is beyond frustrating.

    Replacement Window Runaround: We purchased an Andersen 3000 series Universal Self-storing Aluminum Storm Door. While cutting grass a rock flew up & broke the stationary window in our storm door. I called Andersen Window & Storm doors on July 7, 2017 at 2:45 pm EST to order a replacement window. The agent was nice & placed my order. He stated it would take 10 business days to receive product. As of July 22nd, I haven't received my replacement. I then contacted Andersen in order to get tracking number. They tracked it for me & informed me that the window has a damage report on it as of July 13th as it arrived in Greensboro, NC. I contacted UPS & he stated an email was sent to Andersen Claims Dept on July 13th. I called Andersen back & they claim they never received it.

    Mind you, both companies had our phone number. Neither one bothered to inform us or even send a replacement window for the replacement. I'm pissed... I then was informed by Andersen that they couldn't send window until Monday, 22nd & we may or may not receive it by Wednesday or Thursday of next week. Again, mind you that will be 20 days waiting on this replacement, replacements window that cost me over $80... what customer service, right? I pretty much done their work!!! Corporate office call or should I say COMPLAINT will be placed Monday MORNING!!! THANKS ANDERSEN OR I SHOULD SAY NO THANKS ANDERSEN!!!

    We purchased our home in 2013 in the foothills of Colorado. The home was built in 1981 with probably one of the only Andersen windows available at the time, a vinyl clad window. Interesting to us is the fact that many of the homes back in Ohio had these very same windows and doors. The back of the house faces south so the southern windows have taken a beating at 7500 feet (wide temperature swings, variable weather from day to day, lots of sunshine)! All of the windows (fixed pane, casement and awning) worked just fine and the vinyl has held up reasonably well. In spite of this we decided we would price replacement windows for the entire home.

    We had a Marvin rep. provide us with an onsite estimate for the top of the line extruded aluminum clad window and then we looked at the newer Andersen E-Series (Andersen purchased Eagle). We were very impressed with both but decided we could postpone the expense. Shortly after we moved in, a crank broke on one of the awning windows and Andersen's customer service was amazing in helping us to find a replacement part on a 36 year old window! We fixed the window easily with the replacement part. Unfortunately, an epic golf ball size hail storm hit us on May 8, 2017. Several windows broke and the vinyl cladding on many windows was shattered. Our insurance will cover replacement of a like-type window for the damaged windows. We plan to upgrade to aluminum clad and are now back to thinking about Andersen E-Series.

    Someone also recommended that we look at Kolbe windows. We may also take another look at the Marvin aluminum clad windows. We are struggling with the fact that these Andersen's have lasted 36 years and their customer service has been tremendous!!! All of my comments about Andersen Windows pertain to Andersen Co. NOT Renewal By Andersen which is a separate company. Renewal By Andersen is a company that reminds me of ambulance chasers and from everything I have read the quality isn't the same as my windows. I am having a hard time finding reviews online for the Andersen E-Series windows although some locals highly recommend them. Others in my community are very happy with their Marvin windows. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

    I built a new house with about 40 windows and doors all Andersen. Most had seal failure within ten years the terratone vinyl frames. Cracked the sent epoxy and paint to cover it up. Looks horrible. The French patio doors had vinyl peeling off the outside due to glue failure. Their customer service representative Rannae ** was the worst person to have represent the company. She knew the company screwed up my replacement frame that was sent due to the old one cracking. They sent a frame for 2x4 walls and not 2x6 walls and refused to send the extension jambs. I would have fired her on the spot. My son just bought a new Andersen patio door for his house that he will be returning due to my experience. I will never buy Andersen windows again.

    My 1988 Andersen casement window screens were old and could use replacement. I have seen the TruScene upgrades and made the mistake of ordering a set via Home Depot. I did that because they are cheaper that way. I still think the set that I received one week later came from China. I suspect UPS took the time to gently bend the frames and knee jerk the top of the cardboard. This did not affect the careless assembly of the screen from Anderson. The screens were almost 1/4 inch narrow at the middle which means they would not latch properly. They go back Friday. In fairness to the careless workmanship the materials they are using is flimsy compared to the 1988 frames.

    I used the 100 series on a new home in Sedona, AZ. The sliding 8' doors are so heavy they require two hands to move. The dark bronze exterior causes the plastic trim pieces to slip down causing the sliding screen to jam and eventually break the wheels. A west facing casement window warped, it has a 1" bow in the middle. The plastic seal along the edge warps. Anderson sent out a tech, he worked on some of the problems but they are reoccurring due to the poor engineering and design. There are some excellent window manufacturers, Anderson is not one of them.

    I have had my Andersen Patio Door Series 100 Sliding Glass Door for about 10 months. The weatherstripping is coming out and the locking mechanism has become very hard to operate. I contacted Andersen today and their position is that while parts are covered by the warranty, labor to fix the door is not. They said they will send me the parts, and also email me a "how to" video, and I can fix it myself. Alternatively, they will arrange for a technician for $200.

    They do NOT cover labor costs at all, even when the customer has had the product for less than a year. I would have expected them to honor their product, and provide any necessary labor costs if within the first year. But they said they never warranty labor. Seems strange when the product is relatively new, and the problem is due to a deficiency in their product. Just be aware they don't fully stand behind their product.

    I recently purchased an Andersen Door with insect Screen. The lock they sent with the door had a problem with the tumbler. The snap in plastic retainer system is flawed that's used to keep the glass/Insect screen on the door. They are flimsy and they do not stay in the grooves to keep the glass window or the screen door secure. Andersen should use the metal screw fasteners. The plastic retainers are cheaper to manufacture however, it affects the final outcome which is poor. All customer service will do is send you all the same equipment that is useless. Now I have a door that doesn't secure the insect screen nor does it secure the storm glass. Now I'm left to "Jerry Rig" the door every season to get the results I want... Bad Bad Product...

    Never! Again never buy Andersen Windows, basically rotted due to a design failure. When the two sashes come together on gliding windows, there is a foam gasket on the bottom of the seal which holds water and over time the wood wicks it up causing severe rot! 6 windows, 12 panels ruined in 8 years. Customer service is ridiculous... total of four different reps, on phone for a total of 3 hours over a 2 week period, multiple emails... Andersen deserves 0 stars. Buy Pella.

    My wife and I studied replacement gliding doors for months before deciding to go with an Andersen E-Series (Eagle) LH Gliding Door. When it arrived, the screen door was bent inside the carton, there were multiple deep scratches on the extruded aluminum exterior, and the stile on the interior of the moving panel had black marks under the paint, that could be seen through the paint finish. It was like a dark spot on the wall that gets primed with a defective primer, and the "holiday" shows right through the finish coat of paint.

    The moving panel was ordered with a keyed lock that was not installed on the door when it arrived. Andersen sent us a replacement screen door that was shipped on a wooden contraption that would carry a riding lawn tractor, and it too revealed scratches on the powder coat finish right out of the box. They tell us that there is "No way" something like this could ever leave the Andersen factory, and we say, "Pure bologna." They don't want to spend any money to resolve this, nor do they wish to do anything about it. We remember the old Eagle Window Company and they made a legendary product. We remember the original Andersen factory that was located in Kentucky too. We will also remember that Andersen has now sunk to the lowest level they can go. We will never buy or recommend another Andersen product, ever!

    Recently we had the glass window of our EMCO Andersen Storm Door broken. I ordered the replacement online - everything seemed easy. I paid and was sent a confirming email. The email from Andersencorp.com said that my order would be processed in 1-4 business days and shipped by UPS with the same time frame. After a week of no confirmation of processing, I called. The customer service representative said that there was a problem with their website and it was sending out INCORRECT information. It takes 2 weeks to process an order, not 1-4 days. It turns out that he was correct. The replacement window arrives 2.5 weeks later and after we get it out of the box, it should be a 30-second installation except it is not.

    The window requires four notches be cut in the frame in order for it to be locked into the door. The notches were not cut. The window was useless as is. I called customer service again. The representative was apologetic and said we did not have to return the window thereby avoiding a return fee (Nice of them not to charge me again for their mistake) and that the correct window would now be ordered and sent out. The only problem is that it is on the same time frame as the original order. No offer to expedite things. So it is now taking 5+ weeks to get this replacement window when the original email stated 2 weeks maximum.

    To top it off, our dog got out of the house because one of the kids (A small kid) forgot to close the house door completely! We had 6 people searching the neighborhood for her for over 30 minutes. Luckily, she was found and is safely back home. A potential disaster for our family that was totally unnecessary if the company had lived up to its original commitment in the confirming email. As of today, we are still waiting for this window.

    We had the builder purchase 60 Andersen windows and 3 sliding doors after reading reviews and recommendations 26 years ago. Since that time we had a number of casement windows fail creating a haze between the glass panes. We had someone come out and check them and we were told that the windows were warped causing the gas to escape. Of course they were out of warranty. We had one large casement window cracked several years ago during the winter. I called customer service and was told that we were out of warranty.

    They offered a slight discount for that replacement. And now, while sleeping at 4am we heard a loud popping noise in our bathroom, one of the clear Andersen side windows to the large picture window cracked into many small pieces. It did not look like anything hit it. It was the inside pane. The temperature outside was about 41 degrees. I have to wonder which window will be next. I would never recommend Andersen Windows to anyone.

    I hired a contractor to replace a 12 foot sliding door with a set of two side lights and a french door from the Anderson 400 series. The exterior color I ordered was specified as white. When the door was installed, I was dismayed to see that the color looked to be "ivory" as was not nearly as bright as the other doors and windows in my home, including some Anderson products I'd had put in a few years earlier. When I called to ask about this, the salesperson at Home Depot told me it is because Anderson uses Alabaster for the "white" of the new construction products and bright white for the "white" of the replacement series products. Never in my wildest dreams would I have assumed there would be two different shades of white being used and since my contractor was doing the work, had he known, I'd not have expected him to recommend a door that wouldn't match.

    The color difference is very noticeable and given the cost of this, I'm extremely dissatisfied. The sales person at Home Depot tried to help by contacting Anderson and he was told, "That is just the way it is, we won't do anything to correct it." So once again, buyer beware. You can't assume your Anderson product color will match other door/window companies, or even their own products from a few years ago. I feel like I have wasted $5500.00 because of the eyesore this has made of the back of my home. Everyone I have shown the photo too has noticed the color variation (top of balcony appears ivory in photo attached compared to the bottom set in the lower balcony which is bright white) and assumed I was sent the wrong exterior color. My contractor says he can make it look better with bright white trim, but he is not fully finished, so this is yet to be seen.

    We had a window installed in the master bedroom and each year since we have frost 3 inches in height on the inside of the window when the temperature drops in the teens and below. We have raised the issue the company on four occasions and technicians send to our house each year (2015, 2016, 2017) have not resolved the issue. As the work is done late in the winter there is no way to validate if this solved the issue that season. The following winter we call again and technicians again make an alteration. In February 2017 the installation supervisor, Brian ** came to the house and could find any reason for the frost (the company agrees there is frost on the window and I have photos of the frost).

    I asked that the window be replaced, Mr ** said we could not justify that action and suggested we (1) leave the shade up at night or (2) keep the temperature in the room higher at night. We regard each of these solutions as non-starters. We have 2 other windows in the room (different manufacturer and they do not have frost). I have made repeated calls to Andersen and to their corporate headquarters and finally spoke to a Greg ** (mid-February) who assured me my complaint would be addressed within a few days. No response was ever received. Likewise my calls to Mr ** the installation supervisor were never responded to when I left a message. Recently I contacted Better Business Bureau (BBB) to file a complaint. Andersen Windows has not responded to the BBB.

    Purchase two screen doors for a patio slider and each time had to take back to home depot! Screens are defective as corners do not exactly come together and the screen looks tight but screen is out on the bottoms and sides in places! After two trips returning doors I called Andersen, spent 1 hour on phone describing the doors, having to physically tape measure door size, look for numbers on door, re-measure again as rep. Said he had other measurements and mine not right etc. etc. etc. And then be on hold -- came back to phone and said --- "We cannot replace this door as our complimentary rules are not an option." (Whatever that means.) In other words -- spent all that time just to be ignored and told, "Shove it!"     Andersen has been great supporting us through our journey we are having with their local dealer. We thought we purchased "top of the line replacement windows" and were sold new construction windows. We tried to do the best we could to install them and when the Andersen reps came out to look at the poor fit and windows not aligning, we were told we were sold the incorrect windows (nothing we did during installation). Went back to dealer and were given a small settlement (doesn't even equal the replacement of three windows and we purchased 11 windows, which we are still paying off!). We had to retrofit windows and add trim which doesn't match our home. We need to order correct windows for front of house so it looks half-way uniform -- which will cost us even more. We are just trying to keep our house looking nice.

    Had several Andersen Windows installed in 1990 that were showing condensation on the room side of the inside pane of glass. Called customer service who gathered the necessary information from me and then walked me through troubleshooting the problem. The nice girl told me to take my time going through the proper steps of troubleshooting. Finally she reached the conclusion that the glass had warped and I would need to replace the sashes involved. There were 6 of them. She stated that because of the age of the windows, they would not be under warranty but the technical people would contact me within 2 business days and let me know the replacement cost.

    Well 2 days later, they called, again explaining to me what the problem was and what they could do for me on the replacements since this appeared to be a manufacturer defect. I was very happy with the final outcome. He stated it would be about a week and a half before I would receive the replacement sashes. I would recommend Andersen Windows for beauty, cost, and A+ customer service.

    November 2016 I had six Andersen 400 Series Woodwright Double Hung windows installed. Winter has arrived and I am finding them to be very drafty. There is frost on the inside of the window near where the upper and lower sash meet, indicating that cold air is leaking through at this point. I have older non Andersen windows in my house that do not have this condition. Also, I have been very disappointed with the lack of soundproofing these windows offer. Again, my older windows are much quieter. I am very disappointed with the Andersen Series 400 Woodwright windows.

    Bought 22-23 new windows in 2010 and 2011. All the windows have become spotted. They have been cleaned with standard commercial store bought cleaners only. Both batches are spotting on the front surface. No instructions were given on special cleaning restrictions or requirements. They denied responsibility. They will replace one window to analyze. I have nine older Andersen windows which have been cleaned with the same technique and materials and not affected. I believe it is a product defect of the coating on the external surface. I am not willing to accept their reasoning. Their labs which can test them, independent of Andersen.

    We purchased a newly built home in 2015. The first winter, we noticed that all our fixed pane windows have severe condensation problems, not on the glass where you would expect them, but in the corners, where the jambs meet the sill. We have ice build up in these corners. We have tried to adjust our humidity levels and even go below the levels suggested based on temperatures, and still have Ice build up and puddling. I called Andersen last winter and was told that the Andersen 100 windows were never meant to be used in MN. A representative from Andersen later came to our house and told us that the 100 Series was appropriate for MN winters. In my opinion, and from hearing from our neighbors who have the same windows, these 100 Series windows should not be put in MN homes.

    Ordered replacement window at Home Depot. When picked up, it had been dented along the edge of the window. Home Depot ordered another 4 weeks later, go to pick it up. No window. Here Anderson says they will not replace the window and will only give me a replacement part. Not my problem. Why should I have to repair a replacement window I paid for? Not going to happen. Told H.D. to keep it. Will never order Anderson again, especially with the terrible quality of their replacement windows.

    My husband and I built a new home this year and have been living here for only 6 months. We decided on Andersen 100 SERIES based on recommendations from builders and the building supply company staff. They really are junk! We noticed right away that they wobble Side to side in the frame. We were told that is on purpose so they can be cleaned easier. Two had broken latches - which a Service man did come and look at and then sent us new latches. Now fast forward 6 months... It is now December - All of our Windows have ice on the inside... even our Wood jams have ice, you can feel a cold breeze just standing next to any of them. The patio doors are just fine.

    We called to the building supply and they gave us the Andersen contact. We called there and were given a runaround... They said they don't send a Service person out (not sure why this changed in the last few months), then tried to blame on humidity, curtains, and faulty installation. We did a humidity test - which is fine. We don't have curtains and the installation is not the issue - They are junk! I can't believe we spent over $10,000 On such junk and then Andersen will not even stand behind their own product. I could go on about the multiple Contacts we've made with their Customer service, but instead I have all the encounters written down in case we decide to pursue a different approach - I will not ever recommend these Windows to anyone and I plan to be very vocal about the awful Customer service. They seem to tell you what you want to hear, but once they have your money they no longer care!!!

    I had purchased a custom color (Black) and expected an easy installation. Extensive assembly was required with me having to drill the door for the lock set. Drilled the hole in the wrong area. Owned up to the issue and contacted customer support asking solution as I must not have been the first to make the same error. Received lame ** assistance on the phone, and was told to email the organization. Was told that I would have to contact a senior account representative, at the same email address. Gave up trying to contact the organization as I got tired of their responses, and waited for them to follow up with me, which never happened.

    I returned to Home Depot to see if they had parts to adapt and found an open box to review the parts, and looked at the display unit and found out that the header part, exterior door frame at top of door housing, was the incorrect size. Called to discuss my concerns and was again left on hold. Figured that I was going down the same path and cut loose. On a weather permitting basis, I am going to Lowe's and going to purchase a Larson BayBreeze Door to replace this pile of crap. I would strongly recommend that you not purchase the Series 2500 Door, unless you have several drinks and hire a contractor to install it. Do not walk away, but run away from Andersen.

    Buyer beware! Never buy Andersen products! We paid $14,000.00 to have three sets of junky andersen doors installed in our home. The doors are garbage. The locking mechanisms are jammed. The gaskets fell off. The hinges are wobbly. The doors will not stay closed. Home depot claims they cannot get parts from andersen. Andersen customer service could not possibly care less and basically told me "tough luck". My sincere advice to all consumers is that you should never buy andersen products. Read the reviews and heed our warnings! You can never claim that you were not warned. Never buy andersen products!

    Love how this door looks but doing DIY has been horrible! The instructions are the worst ever. Doesn't tell you much at all on how to properly install or check fit. We asked our builder friend to come and check it out. He was the one who told us how to adjust the wheels. Not the instructions. For the price we paid for this door we will be going to another maker when we build our living room. This isn't our first DIY, been doing them for 20 years and this door/maker's instructions really suck... Don't and won't recommend to anyone ever. Home Depot was great at getting the door here on time and the employees were a great help.

    Less than a year ago I spent $6,500 on a set of Andersen 400 series French doors and a 2nd single 400 series door as well as matching screen doors. They are absolute garbage. I have replaced the screen piston mounting screws a dozen or so times because they keep breaking off, the outside door handle has fallen off numerous times and will not stay tight. About 10 months after purchase the latching mechanism began to fail and I would find the door open for no apparent reason.

    After blaming people for leaving the door open or not latching it, I found that the latch would grab by about 1/16 and just bumping the door and a gust of wind would cause the door to open. I contacted Andersen customer service who gave me a file number for reference and emailed me a PDF document to locate the product ID code so I can provide it to customer service and have someone check out the doors.

    The PDF is useless as it vaguely lists different places the product code may be. It may be etched in the glass, it may be on the door frame, but no definite explanation as to exactly where to find this code. I emailed this concern to customer service 2 days ago and still have not heard from them. In the meantime the door remains broken and I have to lock it every time I use it to keep it from opening on its own and my dog blasting through the screen door. What a waste of money. I thought I would spend the money to get a quality product but at the end of the day it is just overpriced and over-hyped garbage. The old junk door I replaced at least stayed shut.

    CHEAP CHEAP CHEAP! I purchased the 2500 series Andersen Storm door from a Big Box store. It is a completely cheap piece of garbage. Problems: Instructions are terrible with bad descriptions and wording that portrays building a nuclear submarine. KEEP IT SIMPLE ANDERSEN, it's just a screen door.

    Screws that come with it are not the same bit size, and are inadequate for the job they should perform. I am a contractor and have years experience performing this type of work. DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON ANDERSEN PRODUCTS. I will never waste my money buying their junk products.

    When we purchased 17 (big bucks) Anderson windows 40+ years ago. We were young and always researched the best available products. We were lead to believe that these windows were warranty for life. Now having problems with 2 thermo windows not being properly sealed between the panes, we are told that the warranty is only for 20 years. This is not only deception, I consider this fraud. We would strongly suggest that anyone not even consider buying Anderson Windows. Anderson doesn't really care about the consumer. I am now a 75 year old victim.

    I have Andersen windows and doors throughout my house and so does my family. When we purchased them I thought that they produced a quality product that would last. I have a 400 series sliding door that rotted from the inside out. My door is one of many. When I removed the laminate from the door I could see that the wood piece used in this door was damaged. It was not flat or smooth and a chunk was missing where the door failed. It is simple science that if you have an air bubble on a laminate surface that is exposed to temperature changes the result is failure due to expansion/contraction and condensation due to temperature changes. This is a simple quality control fix and this piece of wood should never have been used.

    Andersen offered to send me a replacement at a 50% discount, however, I can purchase the door at retail for less. They lack quality control and my door is one of many that simply could have been avoided with a visual check. I don't see how they can offer a 50% discount when I can purchase the door at retail for less. Shame on you Andersen! Do your homework people and don't let them take advantage of you! Where are the companies with integrity that you trust?

    These windows are a nightmare to wash. With our new construction we purchased 24 double hung 400 series windows. We always felt Andersen windows had good reviews and that was the way to go. We wanted something we could tilt in and wash rather than getting on a ladder. They are almost impossible to tilt in due to the channels that hold the window in place. It's almost impossible to maneuver. I am strong and I still cannot manage to do this. Well, hire the window washers which is something we wanted to avoid. I would not recommend these. We are sorry we spent so much money on a product that is inferior.

    I ordered $1000.00 worth of replacement screens. They came 3/4 were bent and in worse condition than the ones I was looking to replace. The few that were not broken broke when I tried to install. Either the tension bar across the middle of the screen fell out or the small tab used to hook to window broke. I have spent at least 3 hours trying to my refund. I was credited $345.45 still trying to get the difference. Try calling them and see how long it takes you to talk to a person.

    In 1992 I built my home with 97 Andersen Windows. Several of the windows failed and leaked and I replaced them myself. In 2007 I called Andersen because I noticed approximately 10 windows where the seal had failed and the glass was becoming cloudy. I called Andersen and they sent a service rep out to do a repair. Of course I thought Andersen knew what they were doing so I left them to their devices. Since this was a summer home I was not present when the repair was completed.

    After the terrible winter of 2014 I noticed numerous seals had failed horribly. The glass was not just cloudy but had turned blue, green, gold. I called Andersen and of course they would not do anything for me. Later that year I had a contractor at my home and he noticed that in the bottom left hand corner there was a small hole in all windows that the seal had failed. Of course I never thought back to the Andersen repair and thought someone had vandalized my home. I called my insurance company and they sent an engineering service out to evaluate my windows. After a thorough inspection I was told that the holes in the windows were made by a drill and that Andersen had previously used this as a fix when seals were broken to release the gases between the panes.

    I immediately called the service tech that was sent by Andersen and he confirmed the conclusion of the report. He told me once the hole was drilled they filled it with clear silicone. Now what reputable company would drill a hole in glass to release gases when the gas is there for a reason? Andersen destroyed my windows with their quick fix and now they will not stand behind them. They offered to sell me new windows at full price instead of replacing the ones that they advised their service technician to ruin!!

    Your bay window is lousy!!! Wake up every morning to a beautiful view of my gardens through your lousy window that is cloudy and the broken seal has caused it. It was installed by a professional contractor but your company tells me "tough luck" it won't happen that Andersen will replace or fix it. I will never buy another Andersen and I will tell this story to anyone who I can tell. You think I asked for millions. It is only one window of three sections.     A year ago, I ordered an Andersen "gliding" patio door from Home Depot. When it arrived several weeks later, Andersen had shipped the wrong door (the order from Home Depot was correct). Several more weeks later, the correct door arrived and it was professionally installed. However, two screws securing the handle to the frame were too long, causing two "dimples" on the opposing door frame. The installer said he used the screws supplied by Andersen. If that weren't enough, we immediately began experiencing "sticking" problems with the door and within a few weeks, it was unbearable. You could not open this door without seriously throwing yourself off balance. To make a long story short, it turns out that the gliding portion of the door was warped, so another slider was ordered.

    Several more weeks went by. When the second door arrived, it was again professionally installed and seemed to be Ok at first, although not perfect. There was still noticeable resistance when opening the door from outside. The problem has gradually getting worse, however, and now the problem is just as bad as the first door. I have been trying to get Andersen to send someone out to take a look at the door. It has been a nightmare. After two calls to confused Andersen phone reps, I was told to call a local door/window repair outfit, and they would send someone out. When I called the local shop, they told me they couldn't send anyone out without direct approval from Andersen. It has been a week now, and so far, no one has gotten back to me.

    The last straw was receiving a phone call from an Andersen rep today. I told him the current problem I was having, as well as the entire, tortured history. He couldn't have cared less. Throughout our conversation, he kept leading me with questions that would exculpate Andersen and pin the blame on the installer. Near the end of the call, he calmly informed me that I would be paying for the shop to send someone out. When I asked about the warranty, he coolly told me that it was not under warranty, since it wasn't defect in workmanship. Nice. Run like hell from any responsibility, Andersen.

    To cap off the conversation, he told me where I could call a repair shop near me, but gave me a city name that I had never heard of. Turns out, he called the WRONG GUY!! I am not making this up! I asked him if he could please help me anyway, but started giving me excuses why he couldn't, so I hung up on him. Completely useless. NICE CUSTOMER SERVICE ANDERSEN! I will never do business with Andersen again, and I will be sure to spread my story to whoever is in the market for an Andersen product.

    I ordered a new part for my Andersen storm door. The hinge side mount which was supposed to come with the hardware...guess what...no hardware. When I called Andersen, I demanded a supervisor, since the person I got was in the Philippines and told me they would send the parts out second day air...and I would have them 5 days later...LOL. When does second day air on a Monday become Friday delivery? I demanded a supervisor in the U.S. She was just as unhelpful. Whenever I asked when I would receive the parts, all she would tell me is that the order would be put in today...basically an **. Why can't anyone tell me when I would get my parts? This company doesn't care anything about their customers...we have your money...so **. I would recommend anyone who needs a new storm door not to do business with Andersen.

    Worst customer service experience ever. First person I talked to I couldn't understand. Then I get stuck with a "Melissa". She tells me that on my brand new, just installed by a professional installer storm door, that I would have to take door off myself, return it to store, & pay for the shipping for the replacement door. The door was made very shabbily from the company. Several issues with it. I finally get a guy at the home office that took care of things. My upgraded replacement door was just installed the other day. I saw one scratch on the door but didn't want the runaround & hassle so I didn't say anything. The store was Home Depot. They were 110% helpful, the installer was great!!!

    The Melissa person would be terminated if I was her boss. Got nothing but crap from her, she was downright nasty & mean, had got so bad I told her if she wasn't going to help me I'd hang up, so I did & called home office. I would not recommend Andersen Windows or Doors to anyone, shouldn't be treated like that. Thank to & hats off to Home Depot!! Thumbs down to Andersen.

    Locking mechanism on door suddenly became jammed over three weeks ago. Service tech came and inspected, said would have to order part and it would take two weeks to receive. Now tech and his boss say parts are back ordered, they can't trace them, and don't know when the parts will arrive. Meanwhile, I am locked in my house. I don't understand how a company as large as Andersen does not have a lock laying around, and how can the part not be traced. That is just crazy.

    While the quality of the doors is great, the experience was awful. We ordered 2 sliding glass doors from Andersen during the Winter months of 2016 as our old doors weren't cutting it when it came to insulation. On the first attempt to install the doors, the installers discovered that their warehouse had shipped one of the doors incorrectly leading to the door opening the wrong way. After this error, I contacted the Project Manager (PM) and requested a voucher toward a future job in order to cover the additional PTO day I would need to take for second appointment. I was directed to a GM, and during my discussion with him, my lost PTO day due to the incorrect shipment was compared to a lost PTO day due to rain. My request was subsequently denied and we scheduled a future date to fix the issue.

    On the morning of the second appointment, I was called by the installer and informed that the door did not make it onto the shipment truck and we would need to re-schedule yet again, thus wasting another of my PTO days. A third appointment was scheduled for a future Saturday. During this appointment, we found that the inner door framing was not painted as we had paid for and Andersen had not shipped our foot lock. A fourth appointment was scheduled to re-install the framing and to install the foot lock.

    Following the third appointment, I was called by my PM and asked if the install was satisfactory. The PM had no idea that there was still work that needed to be done. At this time I again requested a voucher toward a future job, still only in the value of a single PTO day. I was told a dialogue would be re-opened but never heard from the PM again. During the fourth appointment, the framing was installed incorrectly and subsequently ruined, and the foot lock did not ship with screws and could not be installed thus requiring a 5th appointment. We are still waiting to schedule this appointment and our job is still not complete 5 months after the initial order.

    We have 2 sets of double doors, the larger set has a double screen door outside. The first set (new about 2001) rotted out (ROTTED OUT) because the seal between the glass and door failed and let water into the wood. The doors had a ten year warranty, so we got a 'deal' with them being replaced at 50% off. Plus $300 for installation. Cost: $1500. Second set of doors had a little piece of plastic break (a bushing between the hinge pin and the hinge body). Cost to repair: $280 for a new set of screen door hinges that I had to install, drilling out the old ones, etc. The piece of plastic would cost less than a cent.

    Then the seal between the glass and the one of those doors failed (they were a bit newer, but still over ten years old). Hey, for just $2,000, their 50% concession, I could get replacements. Plus installation, of course. I patched this as best I can with various caulks, but the seal at the bottom edge of the door was ruined by dragging over the water-swollen door sill. It is now misshapen and does not seal. Cost for a simple strip of weatherstripping 30" long that fits on the bottom of the door? $43.67, but hey, that includes shipping. A person would have to be a lunatic to buy Andersen products IMHO. Their prices are absurd and they do not stand behind their products. But maybe others think that $5,000 worth of doors should only last 12 years.

    I built my house with Andersen Windows and sliding glass doors. I thought they were one of the best. I have four sliding glass doors. The cladding cracked, rippled, then fell off. In 2004 Andersen replaced three doors at no charge. Someone from Andersen came out and said. In 2015 the same thing started to happen. They have a 20-year warranty. They sent me 2 doors that I called about. Called in 2016, they are sending the rest. When they were replaced the first time, they said since there were so many, they replaced them free of charge. This time they said they couldn't deliver to my house and the closest place. They sent them 25 miles further. They are there now.

    I am a disabled senior citizen and I have no way to pick them up. They said they have no service in my area. I am frustrated and upset of the 'don't care' attitude. They are expensive doors. The cladding cracked and fell off. As of today I have no way to pick them up and nothing to pick them up with and no one to install them.

    We bought a storm door that claims to come with all parts for an "easy two hour installation." My husband is super handy and knew this should not be a difficult task. However... The door didn't come with any hardware as it was supposed to. We called the number for missing parts, and they sent it with no questions but it took 8 days to receive it. Then when we opened it we found that we were STILL missing parts. So here we are again waiting on parts to come in. The instructions for installing the handle also imply there are pre-drilled holes in the door. Of course there are not. After our experience and looking at all these other reviews, I'm really not sure how this company is still in business. Get it together people!

    My Andersen/Emco storm/screen door fell completely off the frame, and according to customer service it was my fault for overtightening the eight 5/8 inch screws into the pressed wood fiber door. I replaced the small screws with one and a half inch self tapping screws and it is holding just fine. Bad case of engineering and no help from customer service. To add insult to problem Emco offered to sell me a new hinge rail. Since I added proper size screws and the door is now safe to use I requested them to split the original cost of door with me to make up for my time and labor on their product. I was refused any sort of compensation.

    WHAT IS A STORM DOOR? Hopefully, something that locks out the foul weather. But first, the inside latch should lock as intended without failure or your door is subject to being gone with the wind. Engineering design is a crucial component of the industrial product realization process. Unfortunately, the overall quality of engineering design in the U.S. is poor. In 2010, Andersen 300 model doors were designed with a poorly designed plastic inside latch closing onto a sharp metal latch striker. This striker can cut you badly if your hand hits it the wrong way (especially bad for small children that may touch it...). In any event, the plastic latch will start to chip away after repeated contact with the latch striker. It will get to the point that it fails to properly keep the door securely closed. Once the plastic inside latch loses the smoothness from so many chips, it will lose the ability to fully make contact with the latch striker.

    I have a front door storm door which has been in operation for 20 plus years and works just like it was brand new. IT ALWAYS CLOSES because it has a much better inside latch/striker mechanism. My back door (the one in question) has failed two times. I see that Andersen is now using this older type design on all of the current model storm doors I recently looked at in Home Depot. However, Andersen does not want to admit that the design in my door latch was poorly engineered. I would like to see college level engineering students getting involved with these kinds of problems and spearhead the efforts to improve design education that benefits all of us. Long story, my door has completely failed to close without tugging it to a full closed position.

    In calling Andersen, I went from a "consultant" to a Sr. Tech Adviser who wanted to compare the door's warranty to a car's warranty to keep from talking about the real reason for my call. Give me a break and please fire this person if this is the best advice person they offer. I am now waiting for the Executive Service Manager to call and after reading these reviews, I doubt that I shall receive such a call. America: THERE IS NO CUSTOMER SERVICE in many cases!! Make America Great Again. Let's fix problems! Because so many people are complacent and just do not want to rock the boat, they do not complain, and just shell out the $$$ for another product replacement. This hurts all of us and allows the manufacturers to get away with highway robbery. Complain and stop being complacent when necessary to do such. At this point, I would also advise the buying public to look to a better brand than Andersen.

    Obviously, Andersen design "engineers" --LOL--knew the design on my door latch was an accident waiting to happen. Thus, I would love to see the data collected from the design failures regarding my door model. Those must be some smoking hot "inside memos" on taking corrective action. Caveat venditor. We, the consumer, should be protected under the "Magnuson-Moss Act" for greater protection from merchants. In the end I just want what I paid for... A WORKING STORM DOOR THAT DOES THE JOB YEAR AFTER YEAR and A COMPANY THAT BACKS THEIR PRODUCTS 100%. Is this too much to ask for? The word "defective" does not have the literal meaning usually ascribed to it; rather, it merely means that the goods were not in such condition or of such manufacture as an ordinary consumer might reasonably expect. Yes, I expected to get a STORM DOOR with a long lasting door latch... not this junk.

    I installed Andersen Frenchwood Doors in my house. ALL MY EXTERIOR DOORS AND PATIO DOORS. I paid top dollar, expecting that I had purchased the best product on the market. For reference, the Frenchwood Doors are wood with a fiberglass exterior cladding. They came with a 10 year warranty. Very soon after the 10 year warranty had expired, the cladding failed ON ALL OF THE DOORS. It buckled and came away from the wood. It is unsightly, and left the wooden structure of the doors exposed to the weather, pests, rot, etc.

    When I called Andersen Customer Service, they were COMPLETELY UNCONCERNED. They had NOTHING TO OFFER. I did not expect complete replacement of the doors, I just wanted some help figuring out what could be done to repair the doors. NOTHING. I still have not been able to figure out what to do about this. The doors are still doors, of course, and the double pane glass has not failed. I certainly do not want to replace the doors ON MY ENTIRE HOUSE because the stupid cladding has failed.

    ANDERSEN'S POSITION IS THAT THEY LASTED PAST THE WARRANTY SO THEY SHOULD BE REPLACED. So... do not buy Andersen window, do not believe they are a quality product, and do not believe that Andersen will be there to help you when you need their help. BUY ANOTHER BRAND. Thank you for letting me vent. My main objective is just to warn other consumers about this product. This problem really burns me up.

    We built a new home that we moved into in June 2004. We installed Andersen Architectural Series Casement Windows and Doors throughout. This spring we discovered that 18 of the casements had rotted and needed to be replaced. Our contractor and the Andersen representative determined that the casements had sagged and caused the windows to retain water on the sill, which was then absorbed into the wood of the casement window. In addition numerous other casements had sagged and needed to be shimmed or leveled as well as required new weatherstripping. The new casements, installation, repair of other casements, and painting have cost us more than $20,000 so far. Andersen has refused to reimburse us for any of the cost even though their representative says the problem is with the window and not with the installation or maintenance. I would not recommend Andersen Windows.

    Less than a year ago I purchased a number of Andersen Windows. A tree was blown down in my yard and one of the windows was broken. I discovered that the glass cannot be replaced in the window as the front and back of the sash are glued together. Firstly how can a reputable company make windows that cannot be repaired? I soon found out! I called Andersen and received poor customer support being dropped first and then told the department I needed was too busy and would call back. They did not. Four calls later I eventually found a service agent to give me a price on the required replacement sash.

    The original window cost $351.98. The replacement sash I was told was $515.37. One and a half times the cost of the original window just for the sash and I would have to install it. Clearly glued together windows that cannot be repaired by a third party are there to rip off the customer. When I bought the windows there was no mention that they cannot be repaired. I will never buy an Andersen Windows again and urge anyone who is considering buying one to realize if it breaks it cannot be repaired without being ripped off by Andersen. I urge you to choose another company. I certainly will!

    I ordered a replacement screen for an Andersen window online. It arrived and did not fit and then the phone hours with their customer service department began. I spent 45 minutes with tape measures (window is 2x3) and reading numbers on the glass, etc. The CS rep was young and I was patient. She said I would get the right screen and a credit minus a restocking fee for the original screen and I should donate the screen that did not fit. A month later I called again and got a woman who insisted that I go through the entire process again and then informed me that it could take months to get the credit and the order for the right sized screen had never been processed. Very frustrating. She would not transfer me to a different rep. Don't buy Andersen. It's not worth the hassle. Amex will have to help me get my credit because this company is a ripoff.

    So many problems. We had 10 windows installed. We had 3 of them ordered with a different UV ray than the rest. Turns out the order came in backwards, so those had to be replaced. We had service people back many times for many issues. The windows were difficult to raise up and down. They put more screws in the sides of the frame to pull it back so the windows could move easily. The air was flowing right through the base of the windows. The service guy shows up and tells us that it's a factory problem, but that they aren't fixing it because it's cheaper to send him here to fix them!

    After replacing the weather stripping, we went to open our windows, only to find out that they were glued shut. Another service call to replace those. Also had service guy here to look at the screens. They are very DIFFICULT to put back in when you remove them. It's a horrible design! We had windows put in our home in Maine by Home Depot for a lot less money, a lifetime transferable warranty, and no hassles whatsoever. Don't think paying $$$ will get you anything better. We have 8 windows to go, and feel we are stuck with them, as we want all the windows to match. For Andersen, it's just a name!

    We built a new home and installed Andersen Windows and doors due to their name and reputation. I have found that over the years their product and their service have greatly changed! Shortly after we built our home we had problems with the french wood doors warping, could not get them shut without pushing on the top or bottom of the doors. We broke several handles. At this point we called the local Andersen window sales agent. They ordered handles and hinges. They adjusted the door, was better not like it should be. With the change of the weather it warped again. Couldn't get it to close.

    The sales rep for Andersen ordered us a new door panel (In order to get the door quicker he put it in under glass seal being compromised). This in turn screwed me! The problem I found was the doors and windows were delaminating, funneling water into the core of the door. There was a manufacturing flaw with the product delaminating, and there was no notice sent to the purchasers. I was told it was just out of warranty but they would replace them at no cost (great). They sent out a rep from the local hardware. He confirmed the problem.

    Now the issue starts!! I receive an estimate from Andersen for the replacement of $5000, 50% of new not including installation. I was told that there was never an issue with the doors on record just the bad glass. I have the original door. The glass is intact. They wouldn't even take that in consideration, as proof that they messed up (their paid employee). I have tried to contact the gentleman (I was told from a salesman. Andersen's salesman said "I figured this would come back to bite me"). No reply. Andersen said if he would have put the paperwork through like it should have been they would replace them at 100%. Now I have to replace them due to rotting cores.

    Reading here it sounds like I'm not the only one. Andersen in the past made a good product. They appeared to have compromised quality for sales. I figured I would pay more to get Quality. Not a problem. Replacing my windows every 10 years with Andersen's is not going to happen again (within 10 years is when I started having troubles). I could buy a lesser window and change it out and be money ahead. Being a contractor I will do my best to inform people to the customer service and product quality. As A multi generation Andersen customer I think it is sad that it had to come to this! Now I have a leak in one of my glass panes!

    The 2500 series storm door did NOT have holes drilled for the door handle and lock system and no other holes are predrilled for the hinge and frame assembly. For the price I paid it should have at least that drilled. To have a left side door handle, it has to be installed upside down. Lesser costing storm doors are predrilled, the handle and latch does not have to be installed upside down. We are very unsatisfied with the Andersen storm we purchased. I will not advise anybody to purchase Andersen storm doors.

    I have Andersen Vinyl Clad windows (2002) that are rotting. It has been going on longer than even I knew about because the vinyl acts as a band aid that keeps you from seeing the wood is rotting until it finally is so bad you can't help but notice it. There are several other windows that the sash is not rotting yet, but the window seals are coming apart and bucking up. I have tried to get a rep out to look at them, but all I get is "they are over ten years old"... They were not when the problem started. Basically you pay for what is supposed to be top quality windows and you get something that falls apart. The Company does not care about its customers or product, otherwise they would see from all the same type issues that there is a defect and would fix the issues. I used to be in the construction and remodeling business and never had this kind of trouble out of "lesser" made windows.

    Patio door size changes with the weather conditions. Door will not fit in the frame. Reported to the company many times. Can get locked IN or OUT of house. Adjust about 12 screws to get door in place. Door handle comes off in hand. Not safe!!

    The windows have a good appearance. However, tilting the top sash in to wash is very difficult. It required a lot of effort for a 6 foot tall man to wrench it inward, and sounded like it was damaging the frame. This occurred with all 13 double hung windows we purchased. I will have to wash them without the tilting feature.

    Over 10 years ago I had over 20 Anderson Double-Hung Series 200 windows installed. We have ice and moisture along middle and bottom of these windows every winter. We have electric heat and keep the house nearly close to 70 degrees all the time. We have even placed fans to run in every room to have air movement. The humidity is low in the house and it is well insulated. The old windows with storm windows did not do that so we thought the new ones would be better. We had NO luck working with the company or the contractor. PLEASE! Do not buy these windows if you have harsh winters like we do in Minnesota. They are junk and I will probably end up replacing them when they rot out which will not be that long from now. What a sham after spending nearly $20,000 on them.

    Ever since my house was built in 2001 these Andersen windows get wet at the bottom of the windows by the wood as well as by where you lock the windows. They even get ice on them. I advised Andersen Windows as I called them. They advised me that its normal as long as they dry up during the day!!! Im so frustrated that once I pay my house off these junk windows are out of here. These are the pro series. The good ones that they told me not builders grade windows.

    Please dont anyone buy their products. Put these people out of business. I can back up my end on this as I had sent them email pictures a long time ago of the windows being wet and icy!! This is not right. My house temp is kept at 70 to 72 degrees which there's no way these windows should of ever got wet inside. These have to be leaking somewhere. I have seen cheap replacement windows in home and they dont sweat / get wet like mine do. VERY DISGUSTED!!!

    I purchase skylights from Lowe's back in 2008. I'm replacing my roof shingles and my Roofer told me that my skylight were coming apart at the seams. He took a picture and showed it to me, I immediately called Andersen. They told me they discontinued making skylights back in 2009 yet there's a 10 year warranty on these windows and they are claiming that they will send a representative out soon as possible.

    Well, the roof needs to be closed up as soon as possible and as Andersen is not going to stand behind their warranty, I need to replace these with new skylight so they don't care. I would never buy another Andersen window and I recommend that anyone considering buying windows, stay far away from Andersen. Even Lowe's will not carry Andersen windows anymore because of the quality and the customer service. They are so not customer friendly and they don't stand behind their warranty.

    We purchased a house full of Andersen (replacement) windows over two years ago. They look great. That said we have had size problems with the original factory interior trim that they have been unable to resolve for over two years. I had their local warranty people here to measure and order the correct size trim pieces and the factory sent the wrong size pieces twice. I then dealt directly with Andersen and just today received the two trim pieces needed and although the length was correct the trim profile was not. They have a narrow, 1/2 in. thick and wide, 3/4 in. thick top trim piece. Our windows came with the narrow style and the screen will only fit with the narrow. They keep sending the wide style. As a DIY homeowner this is annoying. If I was a contractor/builder putting up with this I would be apoplectic.

    I had multiple windows in my house replaced by Andersen. I chose to pay the very high prices charged by Andersen because of their so-called "lifetime warranty." Later the grill on several windows broke. When an Andersen rep came to replace the grills, he said that the grills were installed "loosely" and therefore they would likely be a continuing problem. He replaced two of three broken grills and said he would order the third. Later when I called to ask about the delivery of the third, Andersen told me I would have to pay $60 for the replacement. It seems their lifetime warranty is a scam. I would recommend avoiding Andersen.

    We purchased an Andersen 45 degree bay window after doing extensive research on windows. Went to Home Depot, pick out the window and ordered a wood interior bay, had it installed. We were working, come home to find that there is NO wood on the interior side of the bay! Went to Home Depot and show them pictures, call Andersen to be told that the pieces come separate and need to be put together!!! Really. We paid 1922.08 for a wood window, not pieces. No one told me when I ordered it that it does not come complete.

    Stay away from the Andersen French doors. There is a small screw at the bottom of the hinge for vertical adjustment. Each of these broke and all three hinges on one of my doors. I contacted Andersen and they said I have to buy three new hinge sets for ~$250!!! For three tiny adjustment screws. They are a specialty item, not regular screws, so I cannot buy them anywhere else. So now I am stuck. If they are going to make crap parts that break they should at least sell them as spare parts separately.

It broke again in October and now they say it's not covered because external reasons broke it... wind.     Bought a Andersen special order 4000 storm door. Had a contractor from HomeAdvisor install it. Hardware and top cap were missing. I had to call Andersen and wait for them to ship me the missing parts. When installed the plate in the door was three sixteenths of a inch and light and cold air came in. I called Andersen about the latch looseness and light and cold air coming in. The rep told me that "I had the new model 4000 full view door and that's the way it is, with no strike plate to adjust the looseness and gap to keep out the air.

    I called back and got Andersen's expert online. I described the gap when the door is closed and the light coming through at the top seam. He repeated during the conversation, it's just a storm door over and over 19 times even after I requested he not say that. In conclusion Andersen has no update or retro fix for the 4000 storm door's loose fit. Since the install a week ago I went on Amazon and ordered a storm door strike plate for just under three dollars. I think this will make the door back into a storm door.

    They stopped making skylights and window walls. That's fine, but they also stopped making parts for their products and left Anderson buyers like me with no way to get operating parts for a window wall, which is now a non-operating skylights. Why not give the specs to some Chinese company who could charge twice what they're worth? At least I'd have an operating window. Maybe Pella will do better.

    HORRIBLE. They ordered oversized windows and used hammers to install them. Broke some of the window frames, and tried to pass them off as being okay. We are talking large cracks and holes from the hammering. It took another 6 months to replace. Now after the windows do not open and close properly. In a fire situation, my 77 yr. old mother and 12 yr. old daughter could not escape their rooms.

    I wasted $15,000 for these useless windows. After four years of them screwing with the windows, they still do not open and close. Have spoken to the installers, managers and regional sales people, etc... nothing gets done. The last time a person came out to fix stuck and hard to open windows, he left without saying a words and the windows he worked on... simply won't open at all. I talked to Jen a regional manager, said she would help and call back to resolve the problems. She never called back. I waited a week and finally called her back and left a message. Still waiting for the callback Jen.

    A worker called and said it would take a month for new parts, this is after already waiting a month. I asked if he would come back out to order parts for the windows he did not check when he came out the first time. He said no, we have to wait until he came out in month. So I suppose we'll have to wait an additional 2-3 months again. These people do not care. They ordered the wrong size windows, smashed up the frames during installation and refuse to replace them with the correct size windows from day one.

    DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY. THEIR TV COMMERCIALS ARE LIES. I am currently checking out other window replacement companies to remove the garbage Renewal by Andersen put in my house.

    Windows were installed. Outer molding was too big we had plantation shutters we had to remove so the new windows could be installed. The frame of the shutters did not fit the outer moulding was too large. Someone came out to re message two weeks ago. It is now 5 weeks and still the problem has not been solved. I feel Andersen Windows should have us as a priority and finish this job ASAP. I don't feel waiting another two weeks is right.

    400 series double hung - First time I washed my new windows by tilting them in, I followed online instructions. When I tried to return the upper sash to its normal position, it would not stay up. Later when I found my "Care and Maintenance" booklet, I learned that it is necessary to reengage the sash in the track by FIRST PUSHING DOWN ONE INCH BEFORE SLIDING IN THE FRAME. After executing this step, everything worked perfectly.

    I called Andersen Windows to seek warranty replacements for three large foggy casement windows located on our porch. One was to replace a window that had been replaced in 2006, but whose seal failed. I was told that our two seal-failed windows put in our porch in 1990 was not covered under the warranty and that the third seal-failed window was not covered since it'd been replaced before. On the one hand, 15 years for window seals to last is not an unreasonable time to expect a product's reliability to hold. However, nine years is really an unreasonably short time to have a window seal fail.

    When I suggested that I didn't understand the logic in not replacing the 2006 window at least, thinking it surely had to be under warranty, the fellow said I needed to read the warranty to see their policy. I am the victim here and he is blaming me?! By that same logic then, what assurance does any consumer have that defective windows are not being sent to consumers as replacements? In other words, if a window is a well made, reliably good product, might not the company want to stand behind its work and replace a window that was only 9 years old? I am very disappointed in this company's policies. My only way to respond with my utter dissatisfaction is to replace these foggy windows with someone else's product, but decidedly not an Andersen Window replacement. I will never buy, nor will I recommend Andersen Windows again.

    NEVER BUY ANDERSEN PRODUCTS. I spent $10,000.00 on new 400 Series Andersen doors in 2012 and they are complete junk AND the warranty is complete crap. THE GASKETS STARTED COMING OUT IN THE FIRST SIX MONTHS! The first service rep that came out two years after I first complained to replace the first gasket to go out told me that Andersen has major issues with its products and he has been doing similar service calls all day on the same problems.

    The gaskets around the doors are off and water pours inside my house when it rains. The keys will not go into the locks without grinding the key in then it will barely turn and gets stuck. I can't even lock my house! The customer service department at Andersen and an executive at the main office actually told me that my doors are not intended to be used every day. Nobody bothered to mention that as I was making my purchase! These are our front doors! I asked them if that was mentioned anywhere in their literature and they also said that it is not stated anywhere. So I now have doors that are coming apart on my house because I use them and they will not do anything about it. NEVER BUY ANDERSEN PRODUCTS.
