Amana top-load washer lasted 50-60 loads. Repairman ($170) says cost to repair $700. Amana says this is NOT their problem. Will not buy again as this company does not stand behind their products to either repair or replace. I am undecided on what brand to purchase as many are under the same company. What happened to QUALITY? "Customer Service Done Just Right." I DON'T THINK SO. Such a shame.

I purchased my mom an Amana stove model #ACR4303MFS5 14months ago from Lowe's. Literally right after the 1 year warranty expired the stove started having problems with control board. My mom called a repair man and they came to check out the stove and said it was just a glitch and afterwards started working for 3 weeks then went out again. Here it is the 14 month and she tried to do what they told her to do fix the glitch and it's not working. Called amana and they said there was nothing they could do but give her 15% off a new stove since the control board is already been d/c.
I didn't purchase an extended warranty because a stove should work longer than 14 months. I have purchased a new stove for myself that wasn't an AMANA over 12yrs ago and didn't purchase an extended warranty and have yet to have a repair man pay a visit for any repair. I feel like Amana should refund or at least replace the control panel. I will NEVER buy another AMANA product ever again. I also realize they are also in with Whirlpool which I also will never purchase after this.

According to their google reviews I am not the only person who has been ripped off on parts. BEWARE.

My husband and I got rid of a perfectly good Samsung washer, because we didn't like the HE water levels.. We Purchased this top-load washer about 14 months with an understanding that it offered deep water wash option. After thousands of dollars of clothing being snagged and ruin WE FINALLY received an answer from an honest repair company. Turns out the REG setting does not operate with the deep water wash setting, despite having the option on the machine to select it. The only setting that indeed operates on deep water wash is the bulky setting. We are out so much money due to being misled on the purchase of this washer.

I can’t say that I’m having the best experience with my year old Amana Furnace (ACVC960603BNBC) or trying to get ahold of anyone at Amana in Canada. Had I known that I’d be having to clean the flame sensor on this furnace on a monthly basis I likely wouldn’t have purchased it. Unfortunately the company that installed just went out of business (thankfully one of the service techs showed me how to keep it clean). There are pros to the furnace- reasonably quiet and definitely heats our living environment up fast. It’s just too bad the flame sensor is going to require frequent cleaning. I can’t really say I have faith in this furnace being reliable. Hope time proves me wrong.

Amana washer, I bought broke down after 6 months with minimal usage. The service person who came to fix it told me it would take 8 weeks to get the replacement part. I contacted the repair company and was told to contact Whirlpool customer service directly since a customer had more clout. The Whirlpool customer service was horrible. Automated only with no option to speak to a customer service representative. I chose the call back feature and was given a date one week later when they would contact me. Absolutely frustrated. Happy for those folks that got a good machine and hope those that decide to purchase don't get the same experience with the washer or the horrid customer service.

I had an older HVAC Heat Pump System that was malfunctioning. A repair tech told me it would be over $2K to repair and sold me on a brand new Amana system for nearly $9K. It included all new exterior and interior units. I was told a "peace of mind" to have a warranty for 10 years. I had this unit installed in January of 2019. Now, in August of 2022, I come home from vacation with a 100 degree house and a unit that won't power on. The tech came and said the coil failed and the unit leaked all coolant. The coil itself is covered under warranty, however over $900 to install. The coolant which leaked caused by the faulty coil is also not covered and cost over $1,300 to re-fill. The tech said "We would normally recommend a new system, but yours is basically brand new." I called AMANA customer service to see if there is anything they could do and they said no. I highly suggest another brand!!!

Let me begin by saying we purchased our washer from Lowes for our new apartment on Sept. 17th, 2021. The washer stopped spinning or going through all cycles by March 15th 2022. We were instructed to call Amana directly. After setting up a maintenance appt with Amana, a third party service provider was set up to come out between 8am & 4pm EST! AN ENTIRE DAY! At 2pm I received a call that the repairman had a family emergency and proceeded to reschedule me for two days later (March 24th 2022) between 10am & 2pm. The repairman on Thursday looked at the unit and said that 4 parts had malfunctioned, which was "not a surprise, because AMANA began using extra cheap parts." He checked in the parts and lo and behold, they are in back order and could "take up to two weeks to come in."
I have been on the phone with Amana three separate times since then and have been told three different stories from three different customer service associates. The only thing they could agree on was that they didn't have a status on when the parts would be available. After the 3rd associate, I asked if they could simply replace the washer?!? It's been over 3 weeks and I have a large family that relies on this washer (5 people in total). Their answer...it hasn't been over 21 days since the part was ordered. They were nice enough to supply me with a 25 dollar gift card, which hasn't made much of a sense in the over 125 dollars & 5 plus hours my wife and I have had to spend in a dingy Laundramat to keep up with the flow of family clothes. I'm sure it's not a problem for some, but we have 2 working adults and 3 teens who rely on clothes for school, sports & other activities.
After all this, I'm am still left waiting for Amana to provide some relief on a 6 month old washer. I personally plead with anyone looking for a washer...FIND ANOTHER COMPANY. AMANA DOES NOT STAND BEHIND THEIR PRODUCTS, THEY ARE UNHELPFUL AND THE CUSTOMER IS LEFT HOLDING THE BAG AND WAITING FOR THEM TO HELP...I LOOK AT IT THIS WAY...WE CAN'T TELL YOU WHEN PARTS WILL BE AVAILABLE, SO OUR PRODUCTS CAN DO WHAT THEY'RE SOLD TO DO, JUST REPLACE THE DANG THING SO WE CAN ALL GET IN WITH OUR LIVES!! STILL WAITING.

Just a complaint about washers. I'm short and getting older. Top loader drums are too deep. I have to stand on my tiptoes to reach the bottom of the drum. I know of others my height that say the same. If I stand on a stool, there is a chance it could tip especially when throwing the clothes into the dryer-twisting, leaning. Does anyone make a machine that isn't so deep?

I ordered and received the Amana Model AZF33X20DW03 Upright freezer in March 2020 and received it in toward the end of May 2020. The freezer cost $913.50 and lasted one year and quit freezing. There was just over $400.00 worth of food destroyed. Rona Hardware said they will not cover the freezer as it is just off warranty. For the past 6 months I've had to empty and defrost the coils at least 5 times! After replacing the coil (which was checked for continuity and failed), I still have issues! Warning. This fridge stopped working after 2.5 years with no warranty after 1 year and thrown out. Before this past weekend, I would have rated this appliance high. We bought this fridge for my mother-in-law who is in her mid 90's. It was the perfect size and worked well without any issues whatsoever....until it just stopped working without notice of any kind suggesting there was a problem.
We called for warranty and was directed to Whirlpool for service. Apparently model # ART318FFDW wears numerous different brands including Amana, Maytag, Kenmore, IKEA and more. They advised the appliance only came with a 1-year warranty. So we called an independent service guy to service it only to be told that this is a common problem with this model and it would cost over $700 to repair it (they retail in Canada between $7-800 new), advising it was not worth repairing because there was a risk of it occurring again.
He provided a report (see photo for screen shot) and suggested we call the manufacturer back as they will be aware of this problem and there may even be a recall. We did just that and they denied any knowledge of problems with this model and there were no recalls issued. And because we did not buy the additional warranty, there was no recourse. I could appreciate having to pay to fix our fridge, since there was no additional warranty, but I was certainly not expecting a 2.5 year old fridge to be unfixable. That the parts would cost as much as replacing the fridge is unacceptable.
To make matters worse, Whirlpool offered us an apology with a loyalty REBATE of 15% if we purchased a replacement of any model within the Whirlpool brands, even off a discounted price. Though we were not going to purchase the same model, we thought this was at least some form of recourse and reluctantly purchased another fridge. When I filed for the claim with the code they emailed me, the code was rejected saying "Code was already redeemed". I had just got the code a day earlier as this was an emergency replacement purchase, and the code was not working. I reached out to Whirlpool by replying to their email which was a no response email address. I then sent a message through their contact form and many days later still no response. If I don't receive one by the end of the week I'm going through the pain of returning it and replacing it with a different brand.
Long story short, I don't recommend this model nor do I recommend the Whirlpool brand because of the poor response to a lemon of a purchase.

I purchased a brand new Amana 3.5 Cu. Ft. Top Load Washer with Dual Action Agitator (model NTW4516FW2) in July 2018 from Home Depot. The product has completely stopped working after just over 2.5 years of normal usage in a small household of 2 people. According to the repair representative, the controller has stopped working and needs to be replaced at a cost of more than $500 which would be more than the price paid. I went to the post office and mailed per the instructions given to me but instead of it costing me the same $7.95 that Amana paid to ship to me, I was charged $29.15!!!! My entire refund is only $51.63 so half of my refund is being absorbed in returning because Amana will not provide a return label!!
In the end my refund will equal half of the $47.00 price of the part alone???? When I called the parts department customer service they smugly advised, "Well you have to return in our box but you could have shopped around for the best shipping rate"???? I noticed that the stove grates were bent from the middle (the grates are long and the front burner and back burner are connected on the same grate). I didn't think this would be an issue because maybe the pans/pots I use would be heavy enough to compress the grates down. I was wrong to think that and the pots/pans will slide when put on the grates because of how they are angled. I have spilled a full pan of oil (luckily not heated to a dangerous temp yet) when the pan was placed squarely in the middle of the burner and it just slid forward and off the stove top.
Amana was called to try and get replacements for the brand new appliance but they told us that the bend in the grates is on purpose and they will not be fixing the danger their appliance puts us in. I now can only use the back burners (one of which is very small) or I run the risk of hurting myself with hot falling pots and pans. They are confident this is normal and are fine with the dangers. Do not buy from Amana as they will sell you a dangerous product.

What I like best is the way the inside is organized. The door have various sized compartments and hold a lot of smaller items as well as tall items. I have a freezer on the bottom and it is much bigger than my former standard fridge. The pull out drawer makes things easy to find. The only problem I have is that food easily slips behind the shelves and falls below the shelves.

The good- It does keep things cold (basic requirement), the bad- Sounds like a B52, cheap shelving with no slide out features, lower bins with no rollers, only plastic on plastic. The water on the outside is not chilled. VERY basic front controls. No temp controls/thermometer on the outside. Awkward filter replacement location.

Bought a house with an Amana central a/c system. Was under warranty. When the system failed the technician called into Amana to have repair covered under the existing warranty. Amana refused to honor the warranty because the owner that purchased the system had sold the house to me. I paid over $1,000 to have the unit serviced with freon and have a leak detection done. With the repairs that need to be done, the technician wanted another $1600. I am on a $1600 a month disability income and have already put the $1000 to find what was wrong on my credit card because I don't have the funds. I told the technician I cannot afford to fix the unit. Note to Amana company. You may have saved your stockholders $1600, but the damage in bad faith complaints will be much more costly. We bought our Amana side by side in 1980 when we moved to our new house. I believe it is a 24.5 cubic feet. Durability...it is still working excellently and that's a sign of quality. That's 30 years and still kicking. We never had any repair on it nor have any problem with the cooling system. The only one that gave up was the drinking water line after 15 years of drinking service to my family. Service that I have done was annually clean and vacuum the accumulated dust at the bottom of the refrigerator including clean the drain pan. That's it. If I need to replace this old workhorse in my kitchen I'll purchase another Amana refrigerator. I shared our experience with our friends around and some of them bought this brand.

Now it was supposed to be delivered today June 5th 2020 between 1:30-5:30pm. Only to be told that J.B. Hunt Transport Services, Inc. Couldn't deliver it when they scheduled to because the driver ran out of hours, not blaming the driver. I blame the company for putting too many on the load so it couldn't be delivered on a 3 day ahead scheduled appointment.
It absolutely should not take 4 freaking months to get a refrigerator much less during COVID-19 putting my family in more "Danger" to have to go to the store more for our needs for a family of 6. Not to mention both my husband and daugthers medications have to be kept cold. THIS HAS ABSOLUTELY BEEN THE WORST EXPERIENCE WE HAVE EVER HAD WITH A WARRANTY ISSUE. The element and the oven would not work and the display shut off if you moved the knob off of the High position.
I called Amana and they were closed, I called Best Buy where I bought it and they sent out a replacement. Problem 1 - the replacement took 4 days due to a pandemic going on in our country, so we were not able to cook anything for 4 days! Problem 2 - the day we received the replacement, as soon as we plugged it in, it was doing the exact same thing as the last troubled machine! I call Amana, the "COMPUTER" guy walked through troubleshooting steps that I had already done, and then says I will send a tech out to you. Problem 3 - Said tech cannot come for 3 days! Problem 4 - my daughter and I live in 2 different states so what did Amana do? Send the tech to my house! Problem 5 - I call Amana, they apologize but tell me there are NO techs in my area to come out not even at a later date because of the pandemic.... SO WHAT exactly do they do to fix this.... Problem 6 - NOTHING besides apologize!

A further call to Amana has yielded only the statement that there is nothing more they will do.
By the way, the repair technician who came told us that it's quite common for this kind of flaw to occur. Nothing you can do about it!!! :( It only RINSES on COLD! :( So I have to CANCEL the wash cycle before it rinses, and set it back on the "wash" cycle in order to rinse in warm or hot water!!!! :(
Then I have to take out all the wet cloths until it fills or it will tear them up agitating as it fills!!!! :( Then I cancel the cycle AGAIN, and set it to a "spin" setting after if rinses, as this is the fastest. But even this small feature is impossible to isolate. The spin cycle leaves clothes quite wet. The rinse cycle adds more water than the wash cycle does and takes forever. Remember that I am getting the dirt out by washing the clothes by hand. The wash cycle does such a poor job. When I put the bed cover in for a wash, the water level did not wet more than half of the cover. So I manually filled it with water from the sink. The washer released the water out. So I wasted all that soap and effort. I took the cover to the laundromat. This machine does not wash laundry well. This is the worst washing machine I've ever used! You cannot soak any clothes because if you walk away with the lid open during the filling cycle and you do not close the lid within 10 minutes it pumps the water out. There is no way to delay the wash cycle in order to soak a load of clothes. The rise cycle fills with cold water, does not agitate, and immediately pumps the water out. When it has finished pumping the water out (there is no way to stop this action) I then need to turn the selector knob to rinse in order to rinse the clothes. This results in my using twice the water for the rinse. Talk about a crummy machine. I had a repairman out to replace the control board, but it only worked for a week. My advice - DO NO BUY AMANA PRODUCTS!

They sent out a repair man that just put on new knobs, and he assured me that after some use it should stop sliding. Well!!!!! Not only did it not sliding my pots and pans I noticed the temperature is not accurate! Now those were the minor problems I had with this so called stove.
One day my other daughter and I were sitting around talking and all of a sudden we heard like a window breaking sound!! So from the basement to the second floor we checked and didn’t see any problems with the windows! We weren’t cooking or anything so no one checked the stove! I mean for what? It was a window breaking sound! About a hour or so later we hear this loud like window busting sound and jump up and run into the kitchen and the glass to the oven is all over the kitchen floor!!
Now remember we were not using the stove at the time for anything, so it wasn’t hot! So, to not take you through every step the next occurrence was the inside glass separated from the handle! So now you have to hold the handle then grab the glass and it won’t open all the way or stay open by itself! See the problem with using the stove! All the knobs are off set! They just turn and turn and you have to make sure it’s not on just blowing gas!! This stove has been nothing but a nightmare! It makes you afraid to use it!!
I’ve never ever ever seen anything like it in my life! People say why you didn’t trade it in or call them. I was dealing with so much my health and my father’s health and then his death I just kept forgetting about the stove!! But I have memory issues anyways!! My friends said it’s not like you to let something like this happen without doing something! It was a gift!! And, they turned something so precious into a nightmare!
My last stove I had for almost 15 years and I loved it!! This stove literally fall apart before my eyes!! I know my daughter feels bad that she brought me such a terrible stove, but it’s not her fault it’s the company’s fault for selling such a piece of crap!! She tried to do a nice thing for me and Amanda ruined my generous, loving gift from my daughter! Shame on you Amanda! I used to love to cook for my family, friends and grandkids and now I’m afraid to even use this unsafe, horrific, monstrosity of a piece of junk they call a stove!! I’ve never seen a stove blow glass out like that!! It wasn’t even on!!! What’s going on with this company, and why are they allowing them to sale lemon appliances! I guess we should’ve known that nice sale was a warning!
You pay for what you get, but I got something worthless!! How do you charge for worthless! I try not to complain to my daughter about it because I don’t want to seem ungrateful but it’s terrible! I have to get another one and get rid of her gift!! Amanda you are the worse of the worse manufacturing company I’ve ever dealt with! Please get it together and don’t ruin another person’s gift please!!!

I have purchased several washers of this model over the last few years. Never again. I have had to have a service tech out to repair it five different times. They have replaced a coupler, transmission, motor, solenoid and issue of not emptying. I purchased the five year extended warranty because the one year warranty was up by about three months when the first one broke. So the repairman came out to fix it. It was going to cost me more than replacing it with a new one (that keeps breaking). I will never buy an Amana again.

On February 21, 2018, I bought an Amana electric range from Brandsmart in Miami. In April 2018, the oven light went out. A technician came and replaced the bulb. In July the oven light went out again. Again the technician came and replaced the bulb. In September the same thing happened. The technician came out and replaced a part. It worked from September 2018 until March 2019. On March 25, 2019, the oven light came on by itself and stays on. I turned off the circuit breaker to the range. I turned it back on and the oven light started flickering on and off. Then it came on again and has not gone off, even though the door is closed.
I have reported the matter repeatedly to both Brandsmart and Amana. Because I did not buy extended warranty; they both want me to pay an upfront fee of $69.99 to have the technician come to my home; to fix the same problem that he did not resolve 3 times prior. Plus another $69.99 to purchase parts. This is not a new problem - it's been ongoing for over a year and they cannot resolve it. I am reporting them to the Consumer Affairs department to get a refund of my $549.00.

In late 2017 we purchased an Amana Electric stove top, oven and dishwasher, a Whirlpool vent hood and a garbage disposal. To date (3-1-2019) the only thing that has worked properly is the garbage disposal. These were not top of the line, but were not bottom end either. The dishwasher never worked and the motor had to be replaced right after it was installed. The stove top had a burner that didn't work, and the burners wobble. The oven also never worked correctly, and they had to replace the sensor, element and core shortly after it was installed.
Now just a little over a year later the vent hood motor is having problems, you turn it on and the speed goes up and down by itself. I called the customer experience line, and of course since it is just now out of warranty they will not do anything about it. We bought, and had all of the appliances installed from a reputable dealer who has been in business many years, and we were happy with their service, but I will never buy Amana or Whirlpool again.
Also a word of caution to anyone who has young children, the Amana electric oven has a dangerous design flaw. The air in the oven circulates and blows hot air out the vent at the bottom. If any young children were to touch this it would burn their fingers. It is a shame that Amana/Whirlpool obviously has no quality control and uses shoddy parts. Luckily for us we purchased an independent warranty plan for the stove top, oven, and dishwasher, as I'm quite sure Whirlpool warranty would be as lousy as their products.

Beware the Amana company. I don't like to give bad reviews to companies but the time has come. Our church bought a new side by side Amana refrigerator/freezer in August. It worked until the middle of December and then it started warming up. It was turned up to the coldest settings and still continued to not do its job. Frozen foods are cold but not frozen. January 3rd I called Amana and a technician came out on the 14th. He said, "It needs fixed but I don't have to tools to do it."
About 10 days later another tech came out and said, "It needs a new part but I don't have one with me". The next week he came and replaced the part but it still didn't work. I called Amana again and told them since it's still under warranty, we want a new appliance. I was told they don't do that unless a technician comes 2 times and he has to say it doesn't work. We had 3 visits. She said she would send out their top technician because he would know what is going on. Apparently the others didn't. He was supposed to come on Thursday but they called and canceled because they had scheduled the wrong technician. Rescheduled for today, Monday February 25 but cancelled because their truck broke down.
We are finding it very inconvenient to have an appliance that hasn't worked for over 2 months, wouldn't you? Now scheduled for Friday. We will see. The only help I got was when I went to the manager of Home Depot about it and he got after them about it but still far from resolved. I imagine that Amana has some good appliances and we got a lemon. The appliances are questionable but the company is terrible to deal with.

We purchased a new Amana upright freezer (also made by Whirlpool) to replace it February 18, 2018 and today (June 11, 2018) now refuses to freeze anything. It runs constantly but will not freeze even though it's set to "deep freeze". Called for a repair which is coming tomorrow so I'll see how this plays out. Probably a nightmare. In addition and while dealing with the freezer our Whirlpool refrigerator has now also died at 9 years. Again doesn't this seem a bit short? The Consumer Reports and others say 10 to 15 years is normal... so honestly is Whirlpool now building junk?
Updated on 07/12/2018: I wrote an initial review on June 11 about my experience with Whirlpool. This is an update: I just want you to know how completely disenchanted I am with Whirlpool products. In addition our Kenmore Elite refrigerator (made by Whirlpool) has also died prematurely two days ago and it also can’t be fixed.
So right now we have no freezer and no fridge and it’s going to take days to figure out what the next move is... replace??? So who pays for all the food product we have lost?? I’m absolutely disgusted with Whirlpool products. In communicating with Whirlpool their attitude was lack-lustre. It goes through a process that takes days to complete and weeks to get a replacement if they even agree to do that. In the meantime we have lost hundreds of dollars in food and no-one cares. Never again will I buy Whirlpool.

I called Amana and since I did not like what the sales rep said I asked for a supervisor which stated to me that he could not help me to replace the top piece of the washer. He could only send me a bottle of touch up paint. This guy also needs to send me a large brush with a quart of paint! This washer is only a little over 3 years old and should not be peeling like it is. Not like a bunch of people use this washer as it is being used by 2 adults. No abuse or rough treatment on this appliance. Lousy paint job!
Where was the inspector for the painting of this washer? Not doing his job most likely because if he had done a half-way decent inspection he would have noticed the bad paint job. The sample bottle would not cover the areas without paint. I cannot believe that this was made in America as some 3rd world country would do a much better paint job. Dryer is OK but washer a mess. I will never buy a Made in America washer or dryer again. I have a Amana dishwasher in my rental house and it stopped circulating water at about a year and half - I tried to get some type of concession from Amana for parts and labor going through their service outlet. The answer was a complete "NO" due to the fact that it was out of warranty. This dishwasher just stopped circulating water one day and didn't get the dishes clean due no water spraying on the dishes. I personally went underneath the dishwasher and gently tapped the circulation pump and it began to work. My years of experiences in the automotive field tells me that this is a manufacture defect with their motors where the manufactured motor has a flat spot in the rotor that will stop in a certain location and stop working at times.
This failure was produced at the manufacturer and if I am right they too know that it is their responsibility to take care of the defect but the almighty profit or dollar cost is more important than customer service of honesty. To this I say I hope Amana goes out of business because I think it won't be too long that it will go out of business due to the fact that they are already under Whirlpool. The part that I am very unhappy with is the cost of the parts to fix the problems I have had; heating element that cheapest was one appliance store for $75 (rest online and other store was over $100), worked two times drying clothes then stopped working with going around. Told probably the belt, but again no belts around and had to be ordered, and also told from all appliance stores that old being $56 is higher than other dryers. The belt was not needed so not opened so will be seeing if I can have my money back for it. Told it's either the door switch, that would be $25.99, or the board that would cost $200.80. Again, I enjoyed the way it was, but the cost to fix the problems is higher than buying a new one. Bought an Amana Refrigerator AFI2359ERM00 Dec 2015 and it crapped out 4 months after the 1 year warranty expired. Imagine that. Glad I bought the extended warranty through Home Depot! LoL since April 2017 my fridge has quit working 5 times and totally defrosted and ruined 5 fridge full of food. Fred's Appliance has been out 5 times to try to fix it and can't. It seems to break down every 3 weeks or so. Then after 2-3 days of clicking and buzzing it starts cooling again. Well the quickest they can get out is 4 days and by then it's up and running and the tech says well I pushed a few buttons and can't find anything wrong. Amana/Whirlpool has washed their hands of it because of the extended warranty I bought through HD. HD won't replace it because they claim the SAME part has to be replaced 3 times before it is considered a lemon. Been in limbo since April and it's so frustrating.
Don't waste your money on Amana. Poor quality! Even worse customer service. Same with HD. Very robotic in their responses. They are all sorry I'm having an issue, but won't take responsibility. Plus since the unit seems to break down when I'm not at home and all of the ice from the hopper melts and runs down the front of the fridge all over the floor. Now it has ruined my hardwood floor all around the unit. What a POS.

My clothes came out FULL of someone else's lint.
The dryer. Ohhh, the dryer. I then place my linty clothes in the dryer to see if they will be removed. I do a full 60 minute cycle. I open up the dryer when it is finished and my load is warm, but still damp! After 60 minutes on hot! I have to run the dryer 4 TIMES to dry a load of laundry. I just had the absolute most horrendous experience with an over the phone customer service rep. My husband and I are having trouble with our AC unit, we got transferred to the portable unit section of customer service. When the man answered the phone, we gave my husband’s name, we said only the words, "We are having trouble with-", the rep cut us off (he did not state his name), he said it is a Maytag unit and he cannot help us.
It does not say Maytag anywhere on our unit, so we tried to explain which unit we have and before we could even offer up the serial or model numbers, the man began raising his voice, nearly shouting, "You don't know what you're talking, that's a Maytag unit, we don't do that, I won't help you, I won't help you!" And again the man did not give his name, he mostly just yelled at us, so we hung up the phone. I have never encountered someone so rude, so impatient and so incredibly unprofessional in all of my life. Based on this encounter, we will never be contacting Amana again, and it's pretty safe to say that we will never purchase with this company again, and highly encourage anyone we know to steer clear.

I have had a new top load HE washer now for just a few months and I regret I ever bought them. List of problems: (1) This will be the 3rd service call in just a few months. (2) NO SOFTENER DISPENSER, what rocket scientist would design a washer without a softener dispenser??? It's not like it would cost anymore to the company! You have to either stop the machine right when it’s filling up for a rinse cycle or...buy a softener ball which stains clothes and does an ineffective job at best! (3) My electric bill has not dropped one penny, do not tell me that these machines are more efficient, that's just politics, so that congress can say they are being more environmentally safe! HE (high efficiency) is not true!!!
(4) The washer does a terrible job of cleaning clothes. It does NOT agitate properly, it just winds back and forth a little and makes a weird little noise. My old washer (Kenmore) was a superior product and I wish I had never got rid of it... If you own an Amana top load, just wash your clothes in deep water, so they at least wash better. (5) This is our 3rd service call as I said in the beginning in just a few months, the first 2 service calls were with the dryer and this one is for the washer. The motherboard is bad in the head of the unit. Buyer beware, these are not old time washers that you could open up any time or adjust water levels during the operation or just open up anytime you wanted to add clothes or more soap... No... These are very sensitive electronics that have issues when the washer process is disturbed in any way!!!
(6) This is the way you have to treat these washer, pay attention... Open up lid, add soap, put clothes or whatever your washing on sticky soap. Add softener ball if you (unknowingly) bought a washer without a softening dispenser. That was us... Never buy from ad in paper, go see it, who knew washers are now made WITHOUT softener Dispensers!!! Then close lid and set settings from left to right and hit start program button. The reason I said program button (Start) is because these junk washers are now like cyborgs, part computer with junk electronic boards as electronics to control functions and operations of a washer which are just basic.
After you do that, do NOT disturb in any way! Otherwise YOU WILL HAVE PROBLEMS AND REGRET YOU EVER BOUGHT THIS PIECE OF JUNK. Resetting only works so many times when it does have problems. I bought this from a local vendor through a sale paper ad. The vendor is not the problem, this is a Amana Corporate issue. Shame on you Amana, I will never buy a Amana product again... Trying to reinvent the wheel?

I just bought a Amana top loader washer a few weeks. So far it is doing a great job. Two years ago I spent over $2000.00 on a Maytag Bravos washer and dryer. After two years the washer started to sound like a jetliner taking off. I called Maytag and it would cost over $400.00 to repair. I did a lot of research on this and found that most the washer do this. I think Maytag should do a recall on them due to a default in the design of the washer. Until then I will stick with the Amana which is made by the same company. How funny.

When there were manual controls, you could set a machine to do what you want and leave, knowing the wash cycle that you selected, regardless of your reasons, would do what you asked and come back knowing it was done. With the electronic controls, I must fight with the stupid machine to get it to rinse or spin as needed, fill as required, or whatever (wash really dirty gardening clothes well or wash hockey equipment). Needless to say the next day the refrigerator and the freezer quit working. Another service company came out a week later and said that the first company did very poor work and they were to blame for the new problem. They blamed it on water pressure which I thought was bs. Then I filled up with water with bucket. Then it still would not work on rinse. Called them again. They said they replaced some parts. Took 20 min and they're gone. They never checked at any time when they said it was fixed. They never ran a cycle ever. I said if it works on wash there's something wrong. They just bide time till warranty runs out.
Now I'm on a fixed income. It took me 2 and a half years to save for the pair. I'm just disgusted at the way I was treated and they don't care they got their money. I tried to add the water for rinse. It just drains out but I have always had to add water to wash because the clothes were always dry on the top. My clothes come out with detergent on then after it's done because it never ever has rinsed. DO NOT BUY AMANA ESPECIALLY ONE WITH NO WATER SETTING ENERGY EFFICIENT ONES. THEY DO NOT WORK. That's not the case with this washer. I have taken items out of the washer that never hit water, and still soiled. You can't make any adjustment to the water level, the agitator is very ineffective and sound as the whole thing is a strain to do a basic task.
I have bought Amana in the past and had no regrets until now. That is unacceptable for misleading the public that this is a washer. It truly just an oversize hamper. Well, ok what do ya do? When I turned the self cleaning cycle on it took a long time and when it was finished it left big brown spots on top of the oven door, like it had gotten too hot and burned it. And you can see it when door is closed.
The double glass window on the oven door broke the seal and moisture and stains are in between glass. Can't clean it. Unless you take the door off and take it apart it. The oven light only lasted about 3 months. It won't work at all. Overall I hate this stove, I thought it would be easy to clean on the top, that too is a job.
