ADT called to verify that our smoke alarm had gone off several times in a period of 2-3 months. Each time we had called in to say we were fine and no need to send the fire department. However, after the 3rd or 4th call, someone from ADT called to see if there was a problem that kept tripping the alarm. The woman on the phone laughed and was sympathetic when I told her the only problem was a teenager learning to cook who got the oil in the frying pan too hot on several occasions. I appreciated her sense of humor and understanding!

Couple nights ago we had an incident in our house. The alarm went off. The respond from ADT was fast. I was surprised they stayed on the phone with my wife until police arrived. I appreciate their service. I will recommend it ADT to anybody.

Getting ADT has been the best thing we have done. When we go to bed at night we feel safer knowing if someone tries to get in, that the alarm is on, and will go off. We not only we will hear it, but we will get a call from the company asking us if we are all right. Knowing someone is right there is important to us.

We were in Albuquerque and we had a special agent gone bad who said he was going to kill me. ADT was set up by the government to protect me from this guy. He only got 10 years. So then I decided to keep it when I moved. At some point, we were also traveling a lot but we don’t travel that much these days, but when we do, we use ADT. The only problem we had was we have an architect house and we’re sitting on a lot of clay and the moisture changes. The house tilts a little bit this side or the other way, so we had to disable the front door alarm because of the shifting. However, because the motion detector covers that area, we don’t really need that front door alarm, so we’re good. But, at one point the camera was on but we could not get in to check online.

I called ADT Support about the terrible, blurred picture quality from one of my outdoor cameras. They immediately set up a Technician Appointment at my convenience. The technician arrived at the appointed time and immediately diagnosed the problem---water had gotten into an improperly installed camera. He rapidly replaced it and my ADT Security System was back in business. The technician was not only super competent, but very personable as well.

ADT is one of the best Security Systems companies on the market. They always notify me via phone calls (home and cell) as well as e-mail whenever they believe there is an unauthorized entry on the premise. If you didn't authorized anyone to enter the premise and the alarm went off, ADT would immediately notify the police on your behalf. In addition, they're extremely reliable whenever services are required.

Like any relationship, there are bumpy times. While we did end up with some initial installation issues (an electrical line was drilled through), ADT was always in close communication with us and everything was taken care of, even better than before. We had originally gone through a third-party provider, but this time we had direct contact with ADT. Our old ADT system was dated but our new system is amazing, especially the ADT Pulse system that allows us to manage the system remotely as well as use a web cam to keep an eye on things.
The updated system saved our house from a break-in a few months ago. The alarm was enough to prevent the intruder from gaining access. The result was a few scratches on our sliding glass door (Yay, Milgard!), and a few punched out fence boards, but no monetary loss. We are sold on ADT. Their customer service reps are top-notch, always taking the time to answer our questions. No question is too small for them to handle. Great job, ADT. Peace of mind is worth way more than what little we spend per month. Thanks again.

I am not happy that I was told that I did not have a back-up plan for any service calls of $7.00. I was never told about the plan and I have had ADT for many many years. I was charged $86.00 for a service call for a new battery. The man was only here for about 20 minutes. This is so wrong. I would like to continue my service but not if you have more secret services. NO THANKS. I will go with someone else's plan for security.

With regard to the maintenance agreement, this is offered at the time of installation and is an optional service plan. If the customer opts out of receiving this service at that time, they may add it on any time in the first 10 years of service. Unfortunately, after that point the system is no longer eligible due to it's age. If you are interested in this plan, a panel upgrade would be required.

I read all the bad reviews on poor customer service, however still gave them the opportunity. I have to say they do have great sales people offering services and promises they can't provide. Signed a contract for an specific amount, and I just got a revised contract and invoice for a different amount, of course everything after the 3-day cancellation. I have made 13 calls in 3 weeks and no resolution. I read about bad customer service, but never imagine how bad.
Updated on 3/9/2017: Good morning, I apologize for the delayed response - I wanted to wait until the issue was resolved. Early on I found out that defenders and ADT are 2 separate entities - however as a part of the management team of a global company we work with multiple of vendors - our customer would never know the difference between my company and our vendors, because we ensure best customer experience. As consumers all we know is that we contacted ADT for security services, and that includes customer service.
I was contacted by a Defenders agent who proposed that if I signed the "wrong contract" she will refund the difference. Once again I trusted that the issues was going to be resolve - unfortunately I signed the contract. As you probably imagine as of today the issues has not been resolve. This agent said, "Your refund will be in 7-15 days." I called for the 14th time. They said is pending approval it will take 30 days - and today I called (15th call ) spoke with agent ** Tyler and he said I needed to email someone for them to approve. Shared my frustration with the agent and his words were literally, "This is how it works if you want your money back." Mr. Tim, how seriously does your company take products and services if we as consumers have to deal with this type of customer service?
Yvette- Our team has been able to locate your account and see that you purchased your security services through an ADT Authorized Dealer.
An ADT Authorized Dealer is an independently owned and operated company. They install and sell alarm equipment, but do not provide a monitoring service. They partner and contract with us to provide a monitoring service to their privately acquired customers and, in most instances, ADT purchases the contract from them after a pre-arranged set of time.
For these reasons we would need to escalate your complaints through them, as they would be the party to resolve your concerns.

ADT just notified us that the monthly charge would be increasing. ADT already charges more than other companies that provide the same service in this area. Even ADT charges new customers less than us old customers. One company in this area is offering cellular connection to their alarm center so if bad people cut the landline, the alarm system still works. We are thinking about leaving ADT for the better service at a lower price.

I am and have been pleased with my service from ADT. I had a malfunction of a light on my keypad. The phone staff was very courteous when I called about the problem. Bryron arrived within the time specified and was very friendly and courteous. It required 2 trips but the problem was solved.

It is difficult to know who to call. Which number I need. Pulse I thought also was with ADT but it is a different number and contact. Don't know who to call to test system. Don't feel that was covered very well when monitor was set up.

Customer support is very good. Since I have had the system installed it has operated fine. Although now they offer a wireless camera with the offer so they should offer a discount for existing customers for the addition of the camera I wanted.

My housekeeper set off the burglar alarm. She panicked and kept hitting the code until you turned off the alarm later. Thank you for calling my daughter who knew that it was probably the housekeeper. The housekeeper had called me as she knew she had caused a problem. I am out of state at present so calling my daughter was the right thing to do. Thank you.

We've had two false alarms caused by food left in the oven and then charred when the oven was heated later for cooking. In both instances, the reaction time to the alarm going off and the call to the house was extremely prompt. The second instance even involved a follow-up call to the secondary phone. Again, extremely prompt. Operators were always courteous and professional in their dealings.

Efficient handling with one exception. If a phoned alarm goes to a voicemail because someone misses being able to pick up the call within seconds, one should be able to call back IMMEDIATELY and talk to a live person directly without minutes of apprehension while on waiting on hold going through a menu of options such as "Is your alarm going off now?"

I had to wait 10 days for new batteries. During this period of time my security system was going off. I did not receive any good help during this waiting period. The representatives who contacted me were not able to give me instructions on what to do during this waiting period.

The phone rang before I could even turn the alarm off!! Police were in the area and came before I hung up the phone, doesn't get much better than that. Although I felt really bad to have created such an ordeal it is good to know that ADT is definitely monitoring my home. I have been a customer since purchasing my home in 2008 and this was my first experience with alarms going off so I am impressed.

I am a new customer to ADT. I am very pleased with the service. I feel safer knowing I can check in with the camera in my home. Although after I upgraded my Iphone they showed me a much more sophisticated security system. You could see multiple areas for security. I do not know the comparable prices though. Thank you.

I received a late notice even those I have EasyPay and the associate said it was a mistake on ADT's part and it was resolved immediately with no late charges. Not sure why it happened but it was handled quickly and efficiently. I love ADT and all their products.

Fire alarm went off just before Christmas. I knew my wife was home cooking and baking. So when ADT tech calls to advise of the fire alarm he held on the line till I could verify all was well. Tech rep was patient and courteous. One more reason we love our ADT!

Looking into wireless upgrades will consider after income tax season. We are retired and on fixed income so we will have to weigh all options before we can make a decision. We are wanting to get rid of our current land line, it no longer is cost effective but must have an upgrade for alarm to work properly???

After talking with representative, I was informed rate increase wasn't necessary. The rep was very well informed. She showed regret and assured me that I would not have a rate increase. She came on the phone very nice. She ask to excuse herself when put me on hold. When she returned on the phone she thanked me for holding.

Service tech was on time at appointment times. Called first which was appreciated. Was very knowledgeable about the system and found problem immediately. Replaced sensor which was faulty very neat and clean with his work. A definite positive representative of your company. I only wish all service people from other companies were like your tech who came here.

It's hard to give just 1 rating of my experience. The system keeps me safe, the alarm works, etc., so I can't complain. But when it comes to execution, system setup, the hardware, there are a lot of glitches, problems, and recurring issues that come up.

We are very satisfied with ADT. Hemet crime has gotten bad. It is nice to know we have an alarm system from ADT. We are even contacted when there is an electrical problem in our area. Once our system kept beeping because something was going on with the electricity in our neighborhood. It just made me relieved to know ADT was aware. So, thank you for making us feel safe.

Rely on the system, easy to install new devices and app/online settings, helpful customer support, immediate & active response on alarms. 3 years term could be an issue, however I'm very pleased with the service. Be sure you have a good internet provider.

A couple of years back, our home had a attempted burglary at 4:20 am... They cut the screen and jimmied the small window enough to reach inside and unlock the deadbolt and regular lock. Opened the back door only inches before the LOUD alarm went off. They left pronto, and me in my haste ran to turn the alarm off, yes turn it off, then went to see what was happening in the laundry room. All wrong, should have left the alarm blaring and had ADT call the police. The police were only houses away since this guy had hit a few houses in our development already.
Time two was a squirrel fell down the chimney into the house and third time forgot to turn motion detection off for our dog. They were great each and every time. Would not be without the alarm system ever. I have it on when home alone as well as each and every night when the hubby is home. Everyone needs a alarm system, never say never!! Thanks for listening.

No problems. Tech was very good. My alarm went off by accident and was taken care of before I even called. The next time I had to change our batteries on smoke alarm. They took me offline as not to have fire dept here. Put back online no problem. Tech very good.

Works fine. Had an incident where the alarm was set off, but we think it was probably our pet. Response to the alarm was great. Thanks. The Police responded very promptly and my daughter was alerted also. We are greatly pleased with the system. Hope to have it for a long time.

We recently had an issue with a window sensor that showed trouble. ADT quickly notified us of the problem and scheduled a technician to replace the sensor.

This is one of the best security systems we have ever had. When the installer arrived showed me his ID and advised me what he was installing. Explained the system and showed me how to work the keyboard. Very satisfied with service and price.

We have had our account with ADT for over 13 years and are happy with the service. The pricing over this time has however jumped which is the only downfall. We are on a quarterly billing plan, when we first signed up it was under $100 quarterly, it is now over $150.

I am happy with my equipment and installation. There's one scenario I was very surprised the day of my installation. I was given a quote on the phone and any questions I had I was told the installer would be able to answer concerning my particular residence. I didn't know anything about a price change other than the one I was quoted on the phone. I never had any indication that the monthly fee was more than $30 in the equipment was $2,000. I was never told I had to spend any money on the equipment until I was asked for the payment.
So I was forced to decide at that moment whether to spend over $2,000 in payments as I was approved or have the installer remove everything. I don't know if there was miscommunication somewhere but neither source mentioned at any time I was buying or paying for equipment until the very end of the installation. The installer told me after the fact that if I had more than 6 windows there was a charge for every window. AFTER installation was completely finished. I am skipping 3 car payments to pay for the equipment I probably would have waited a couple years had I have known I was spending over $2,000. I know I will always be glad to have it, but with time to think it over I would have never have done it as I am struggling financially.

System very easy to use. Sometimes I forget to disarm the system when I open up the garage door. The monitoring center usually calls to ensure that everything is okay. They are very polite when they call. I let them know that I want this listed as a test.

I feel safe with the System; I have more so now that they broke into my barn and stole better than 5,000.00 dollars in tools and a lots of other things that was Aug. 30, 2014. Thank You ADT. Overall I felt I had exceptional service. First I called to learn more and a representative was gladly able to assist me. Then I made my appointment. One downfall for me was having to pay the $105.00 up front to hold the appointment but I was informed that-I could do a rebate. Well they don't tell you is that you need to send in proof of your system along with a 4.95 money order before a certain time frame in order to get your 100.00 visa. For me this is too complicated. It should be easier than this as money doesn't come easily today.
Also I feel that the flyer I got in the mail was false advertisement because it says for 27.99 a month get 15 sensors free... Well the fine print has guidelines but anyways I now pay around 55.00 a month. This total cost includes the app to monitor my home which I love. I love being able to control the safety of my home from anywhere that I have wifi. You have a vacation and a dog sitter you can arm and disarm from your location just give them a key and ask them to let you know when they arrive and leave. I also love the feature where I can turn the alarm on when we are home at night sleeping. Overall I feel that it is an excellent service and great to have in your home. For me just a bit though pricey...

I love the security and sense of ease knowing I have ADT there to protect my family if it's ever needed. I have set the alarm and forgot it about to then open a door and it go off. Lesson learned because panic mode sets in even to just quickly shut it off. I love the ease of checking my phone when a door chimes to see which door is open.

Was told I'd receive a visa $100 credit card when I signed up, never got it, service is good but will not renew when my contract is up. Support has been good. I think the price per month is too high compared to other similar companies.

After 30 days it's yours, no matter what they promise you (was told 6 months to get refund). Good luck getting additional devices (smoke detectors) installed or changes afterwards. Tech just driving to your home is $180+. Now waiting patiently for my 2 yr contract to expire. Buyer beware, read the fine print.

I decided to write this review after getting nowhere with Customer service and the management team. I recently moved and transferred services, which I thought was the easiest thing to do. However I was given the runaround, had to miss work for four days and ended up having a system that was faulty and caused three sleepless nights. The week ending December of 2016 I called to have services transferred to my new location. Everything on the phone went smoothly but the day of the installation no one showed up. I did not get a phone call that ADT cancelled all appointments due to the weather being bad in Georgia. I had to call in to hear about the change and for a representative to inform me that someone would call me to reschedule. My initial appointment was for Friday the 6th, 2017. It was now Tuesday the 10th and still no one called to reschedule. I had to call back in myself to set another appointment.
The tech that came out was very nice and helpful. He installed my system without any trouble. Later that night the panel started going off and I could not control anything to stop the loud noise. I had to call back in. At that time there was a rep that assisted me with helping me set another appointment for someone to come out to check out the issue. That rep was also nice and respectful. However the issue was not found nor corrected. I had to call in again to state the same issue and they suggested someone to come back out to change out the system. Every time I had to call in to speak with someone I was transferred and hung up on. I was on hold for a very long time until a gentleman explained to me that the company hired new team members and I was given the wrong information each and every time.
No one apologized for the inconvenience, or the time I had to call off of work. No one apologized that my credit card was charged two times for billing. Not one person or manager called to follow up with my service request. NOTHING!! I didn't think this was a hard process to change over services, nor speak to someone that had sense on what was going on with my account. Everyone read screens and could not explain to me certain things that employees of the company should already know. I was very upset and wanted to cancel my account. I will not recommend this company going forward to anyone. I have also brought this to the Better Business Bureau's attention. I was not treated like a loyal customer but rather someone who just paid monthly for services without any help and assistance of this company.
Customer service is key and they are the first line of defense to your company. Your reputation is all in those team members' hands. One person can lose this company millions of money later down the line. Customer services reps needs more training and communication skills. If someone suggests to call you back then they should. If someone states that they should notate the account so in case you have to call back in and others know the issues then they should. If you get transferred and see that the call drop they should call the customer back not the customer having to call back in and have to explain their story all over again just to be transferred like before. I am very disappointed and once my contract is up I will never again think twice about ADT.

I bought and paid for an ADT home alarm 6 years ago, paid my monthly monitoring up until I retired, now my console keeps beeping telling me that the "phone is deactivated". I called ADT and they attempted to help me fix it. HERE IS THEIR FIX "please unplug your battery, now unplug the power cord. OK IT WON'T BEEP ANY LONGER." ARE YOU KIDDING ME??? They say the only way to stop the beeping is to sign up for monitoring. Are you kidding me??? I want to just use the alarm to secure my home. I can't afford monitoring as I retired and need to cut my expenses. This is BS. Please give me the fix to allow me the use of the alarm.

I've got window sensors, door sensors and motion sensors under my house from ADT. The products and the services are very good. The sales reps and the technician that we dealt with were very professional and friendly. I'm very satisfied with ADT, with everybody associated with the company and with their product. However, their advertisement was misleading. They advertised $29.99 a month for their monitoring service and I wind up paying $50 a month, which is excessive. And it cost me $2,700 to have the system installed. I did it because my house had been broken into. Had I researched before I bought it, I would've gone with SimpliSafe which offers monthly monitoring for $15 and their product's price is not nearly as high.

I have ADT's wireless system, so I won’t have to use the hard telephone line. I also got a camera system. I can record my home using my telephone app and I can look into my house while I'm not home. So far, I haven’t had any problems with them. In fact, I just upgraded to their new wireless system a couple of months ago. However, I didn't like how I got solicited to upgrade. They called and asked me for a $100 to upgrade my system. Then within two weeks, they send me the paper and it says it’s a free upgrade. But they compromised and gave me $60 back. Other than that, everything was cool. Their installer would let me know everything he was doing when he was hooking stuff up. So far, it’s been a wonderful experience and everything’s working out fine. It’s a very reliable service and I enjoy it.

My parents have had ADT "Life Alert" type of service at their house for approximately 9 months. My dad died in early November 2016. I've tried to cancel multiple times since. November 8 - initial cancel, was told it would take effect at end of billing cycle. December 6 - called again, operator "didn't understand" why it hadn't been cancelled and cancelled it again.
January 16 - called 3 times to cancel as my account is still being debited. Operator "didn’t understand" why it hadn't been cancelled and put me on hold to find out why. Disconnected me after 12 minutes of waiting. Operator "couldn't find" my account information. The same information I had provided minutes earlier that was valid. Operator found the account and needed to "transfer" me to the "cancellation department", disconnected me after 7 minutes. Heading to the bank now with a written request asking that the automatic debit be terminated. I will NEVER use ADT again. NEVER.

We were talking about getting a security system for some years now. My neighbor has ADT and although he doesn't use it all the time, he was happy with it. I did a little research on ADT and their price was right. The installer was a nice young guy and he was terrific. He set everything up, cleaned afterwards and everything was done within an hour. It's an easy system to use and we like it. On the other hand, I still haven't received the debit card that was part of the deal. I called them and I've learned that it may have been a glitch in the system. They said they sent me an email with a form I had to fill out in order to get that but I never received it. It was taken care of yesterday and I mailed it to them. Other than that, I'd recommend ADT.

We have been broken into twice. Neither time has the alarm gone off. They bill me each month but have installed little more than a noise maker. They randomly bill me for false alarms, so many that the police sent me a letter stating they won't even respond to the alarm unless I call them personally. Only once have I even been notified of these alarms yet they keep on billing me. After the most recent break-in I call to inquire as to why the alarm didn't go off at all. After a 20 minute phone call they conclude the alarm didn't go off. I lost it on the guy and said "I ** know that, I just told you that, I'm calling you to find out WHY!?" After a couple weeks they managed to send a technician out who couldn't identify any problems, yet they keep on billing me.
In the following days they have some extremely rude girl calling me and asking for my password? Why do I have to prove who I am when they call me? Isn't it supposed to be the other way around? According to the business practices of ADT you can call any of their customers and ask for their password just by telling them your calling from ADT. This company is a joke, I'm simply not going to pay them another cent, send your collection agencies all you want.

The ADT reps were knowledgeable and pleasant to deal with. Thank God, I have yet to have them respond to an alarm. The key fobs and the app on the phone work fine. I can access my system via my phone from any location, which I love. It was raining really hard the other day so instead of waiting till I got to my door to disarm the system, I did it when I was around the corner from the house on my phone. However, I have yet to receive the $99 gift card that I was supposed to get as a promotional plan. I’m not getting the paperwork from ADT that I needed to submit to get it. So other than that, which is minor, everything is fine as far as the system, its operation and ease of use.

Had ADT alarm system for 20 plus years. Was having issues with the system not working properly. ADT would not send out a repair technician. Blamed the problem on Bell. Bell technicians were out several times and said the problem was not theirs and that ADT would have to fix it. Bell technician told me if they came out again for the same problem they would have to charge me. After a few months ADT disconnected my service without my knowledge. They said they sent me a registered letter (which I did not receive) and they will not show me proof they sent out a registered letter. Manager will not return my calls. Left him 2 voicemails. Just when I needed this service the most ADT has failed me! After 20 plus years of bills being paid on time through direct deposit, not a payment was missed or late - not one!
Horrible service and crappy system. They never updated their system in all of those years. Great way to treat long term customers ADT!!! Not!!! I do not recommend ADT due to their poor customer service!!! Also I did receive an invoice stating that they refunded me $49.86 and then told me that no, they only refunded me $10.30. If that was the case why did they send me an invoice saying that I was credited $49.86??? This is how I found out my service was disconnected. If I could give a negative review on the stars, I would. One star is too much for this company! I am beyond dissatisfied with this company. Not the way to treat loyal customers!

I has ADT for more than 2 year. For about one year ADT was not monitoring my house. When I discover the problem I call to alert the company, but nothing was done. In about 4 months later I blocked my automatic payment and now ADT is charging me $565 for termination Fee and harassing me that they are going to destroy my credit. I called the customer service from ADT, but nothing was resolved. I need your help, because I am not ready to pay for service not provided.

I called over a month ago when I knew our financial situation was not going to improve anytime soon and asked if there was anyway to put my account on hold or anyway to get caught up so that we didn't continue to accrue fees. Not only did they refuse to help, they kept trying to get me to set up a payment when I continued to explain that we can pay our large monthly balance of $50, but not the $100 we were behind on. After receiving no help, I began receiving MULTIPLE calls a day from ADT most of which put ME on hold when I answered! After finally answering to a real person, she was rude, continually interrupted me and refused to help until I paid at least $100 which we CAN'T AFFORD!
My husband was laid off last year and ever since then it's been a struggle to keep up with our bills. However, ADT is the ONLY company that refuses to work with me and just cares about my money! There's no way I'll ever catch up if they can't put my account on hold or if they won't work with me another way. I'm pretty disgusted with this company and will be canceling as soon as my miserable THREE YEAR contract ends!!

Service was okay, but they make it impossible to cancel service. You have to call a specific phone number in order to cancel. No possibility of email, or online chat. I called several times, holding each time for over 30 minutes. Finally had to call my credit card company to dispute charges and get it stopped that way.

We had the motion detection and doors included in our service package and it works fine. However, the installation team spent hours putting it in. Then they didn't have the parts that they were supposed to put in so we had to have them come back out and redo some of it. It was the installer's first time doing it and their company had just started working with ADT. Finally, they got somebody out here who understood what was going on.

A friend visited me over the past weekend. He installed ADT security systems for 6 years and he told me all my door sensors were installed incorrectly. The large, heavier piece is supposed to be installed on door molding/frame and small part on the door. Opening and closing of the door will inevitably shake the large, heavier piece loose. My first door sensor malfunctioned 28 days after install. Now I am within 7 days of the end of 90 days and any future calls to fix system will cost me a service call.
I really hate to think that they install these sensors incorrectly to insure future income from service calls. But I do not know what other reason they would install the door sensors incorrectly unless the installers are not trained on proper installation. I called for technician to come out and make correct installation of all my door sensors. Was transferred 3 times and never got an appointment for them to come fix the door sensors. Am supposed to receive a call from local DEFENDER office to schedule it within the next week before my 90 days are up to avoid a service charge. I will be calling everyday until it gets done.
If you sign a contract with Protect Your Home (DEFENDER), be sure they install door sensors correctly the day they install. The large piece goes on door molding or frame. The small piece on the door. Don't let them leave with them installed the other way around. It is guaranteed to fall off and perhaps AFTER your 90 days so they will charge you a service charge to come out and fix it.
I previously left a review about how the contract I signed did not agree with what DEFENDER salesman was telling me. Nowhere in the contract does it say I was paying for QSP (Quality Service Protection) which warranties all equipment as long as I have ADT service monitoring. After multiple calls, the salesman did come back and brought me an addendum to my contract specifically stating QSP was included in my contract. I am guessing they did that just for me because I read the contract and recognized the deficiency. Read your contract carefully and REQUEST an addendum for QSP if you get pulse system. The contract they use DOES NOT state you have QSP. So when you sign your contract, BE SURE IT says it includes QSP. Because the contract does not say that.

NEW CUSTOMERS' SPECIAL HOME SECURITY STARTING AT $28.99/MO. Get to my house and tells me my system will cost $2000. Was not able to get anything that was advertised on the flyer. Plus when I look into my checking account I am charged $58.00 for monitoring, this was not at all discussed. I would not pay over $30 for monitoring as that is not the going rate. Customer service is awful. They deal with at least two affiliates, so they constantly are passing you around to other people to help with problem. Spent an hour on phone and still unable to get rate changed. Very disappointed in their poor business practices. Now stuck with them for 3 years. Don't want others to make the same mistake. Go with another company that is honest and have their customers' best interest at heart and not their bottom line.

My ADT service package includes the alarm system but it's not hooked to any camera. I'm happy with the service and I have no complaints. The sales reps gave me what I wanted. We've had ADT for over 20 years and recently, we had some cameras and all sorts of stuff installed by them. The customer service and sales representatives were good. Then the installers who came out were fabulous and wonderful, except that I ended up getting charged more than I was quoted so that was a little problem. But everything else was great.

I love ADT and I'm very happy with it. It does what I want. Our ADT package has several services, and I have a nice box that I only lock and unlock. I don’t use any of the five various switches that are on it. At one time, the alarm got ringing and after we tried to resolve the issue and everything is quiet and I was sitting down here in my TV room, there was a lady sheriff prowling around in my front yard. She came out here to check on things because I just called my emergency contact people. It was kind of entertaining more than anything.
And then the last time I had an issue was in the last few months when I came home and the alarm was ringing. I came down the stairs and apparently I pushed the first of my four digits at the same time as the ringer, so I didn’t hear it register. So, I hit the number again because I didn’t think I did. However, I hit a five-digit number instead of a four-digit number and somebody called me on the box and asked what was going on. We then had a very entertaining conversation about making sure I pushed the buttons in between the rings.
Additionally, last winter, all my things went out - the telephone, television, computer, and ADT. So, we had various people here trying to turn things off and on. They got everything working except the telephone. It rings through the ADT box and I'm perfectly happy with it. I don’t want anybody to fix it because when I'm downstairs and I've left the little phone upstairs I can hear an alarm down here. I can hear the phone ringing even if I had no idea where the phone is. It sort of helped.

The service tech. was very polite, knowledgeable and helpful with suggestions on where to place sensors and which ones would work best for my home. The sales rep. had suggested a particular sensor for my garage but the service tech. did not think it was a good idea due to how hot the weather can get in my area which could lead to false alarms.

Customer Services seems to be responsive and always courteous. I considered other security alarm companies, but ADT has been in business a long and has a good reputation. Salesman/technician arrived at 300 pm and left at 12:30 am. He spent 2.5 hrs trying to sell us on things we didn't need or want. He reduced the price several times but with no success. He was not very happy that he could not sell. There is no way that I would stick this salesman on any of my friends or neighbors. I view this trick as nothing more than a 'bait and switch' operation. The salesman did suggest that as far as security was concerned we ought to buy a gun. Maybe I will.
Got upset when told he was a salesman and not an installer as he was described by the company, falsely represented as ADT but in fact they are Defender a third party selling ADT systems overcharged not wanting to cancel supervisor on phone promising the world -- Have repeatedly asked that the installer (salesman) and or the supervisor that was on the phone to call me the so called staff would not actually let you talk to a supervisor or person in charge -- Been 6 weeks still no return call however they did call today wanting money and once again I asked for a supervisor and was told I did not need one. They are basically on grounds of scamming people by their offers and what they say they will do and what they actually do not do.
And main corporate of ADT says they have no control over their actions, and they confirmed that they repeatedly hear complaints of this nature about said company (DEFENDER)-- so maybe ADT is also in on this because if a third party was harming my business you can be guaranteed that they would not have the authority to represent me in any way. I highly recommend finding another route for home security.

This company is the worst company I have ever dealt with. I was out of contract and purchased in full a camera system. The sales guy said there was no extension of contract, but yet they put us in an additional contract just for buying in full the camera system. We settled the account and they still bill us, we have lost thousands of dollars. We call with no resolve, get transferred from place to place with no resolve. I'm going to sue them to get our money back. There is much better services out there, don't believe any good reviews. I own a business and there are plenty of reputation repair and review services to make the illusion they are a good company. I REPEAT, IF YOU ARE A BUSINESS OWNER DO NOT USE ADT, AGAIN DO NOT USE ADT, DO NOT USE ADT.

Originally, I had the service plan where in addition to my monthly monitoring, I also pay for service if anything breaks. ADT used to come and check the system once a year and if batteries were low or worn-out, they'd put new ones and everything was fine. But then they cut that service out. They said they'll service the system if something breaks down, but are no longer going to do a checking to monitor as well. The consumer is not aware of where the batteries are or how to go up on ladders and change them. Now we just wait until the battery goes dead and some alarm goes, and that's no good.

This is questionable and subpar service in several respects: Installer did not show up the first day I scheduled them. A manager called and offered me a $150 gift card for the inconvenience. Later I was told that I would only be given a $50 card on top of the $100 card ADT already had offered me. DEFENDERS simply did not honor their own offer.
They also do not honor ADT's sales representations. Even after more than $1000 in credits, the technician tried to upsell me a system for a $2000 payment that did not even include new cameras. After some negotiation I was able to task them down to $500, but then they added a $99 fee and the ultimate cost was around $600. For a basic system, given that I own the cameras from my previous ADT pulse system.
The technical knowledge of the installers is limited, nor are they particularly good at what they do or at customer service. They installed equipment that ran on electrical outlets, but only when the lights are on in my attic. They were not familiar with and lacked the technical expertise to install cameras that are listed as approved for installation on the ADT Pulse website. They also failed to advise with me about the specific location/view span of cameras, instead installing them where most convenient to them.
The technicians rushed to complete the job and left without confirming that all of the cameras work. Two are inoperable. The technicians pass the buck back to ADT and do not take responsibility or make any effort to help customers solve problems. They blamed ADT for a camera that they were unable to install (the model 1000, which ADT has used for years), even though these are listed on the Pulse website as ADT approved devices. They said that I should call ADT and ask them to honor their warranty -- the cameras work (they were installed on another Pulse system just days ago), but DEFENDERS technicians just do not know how to install them.
First thing tomorrow, I will give a notice of cancellation. I will also pass on information to the TN attorney general describing the specific offers ADT advertises and what DEFENDERS offer me and then sold me. I was a big fan of the pulse system, which I had in my previous home, but ADT just lost a long-time customer by passing on my request for service to DEFENDERS. Not only does DEFENDERS engage in bait and switch with ADT offers; their technicians lack the knowledge and customer service ethic that previous ADT technicians were able to successfully deliver. If this kind of shoddy service continues I am confident that it will be bad for ADT's business, given the many other options that are out there.

Our system was installed when the house was built and progressively ended up with ADT. My fire alarm company was bought out by ADT. I'm extremely satisfied with their service. They monitor well and they call when there are alarms.

Ok, so I basically never write a review but I can't believe the service they gave me. Companies should be sensitive to elderly needs and try to make things easier for them. So my mom moved out of her house two months ago. We called to cancel service and to do so over the phone they said they needed her password which is reasonable but my elderly mother who is very forgetful did not remember it. They said the only way we could cancel is to have her handwrite a letter with certain details and to fax it in. I don't live in the same city and believe me this was very difficult for her to do.
We finally did it and faxed it in. Then we get another bill. So I called back again and this time they said we had to talk to the installer to cancel it. Took me two days to get ahold of them with the number ADT provided and when I did they said they weren't even licensed to do business in my mom's state and I needed to call ADT. So back to ADT and finally got a supervisor.
She said we either had to refax the letter (nope, know how that worked the first time), email the letter (I specifically asked if we could do this the first time and was told I needed to fax it), or they could send her the passcode to her new mailing address (also wasn't originally told about this option and I understand the need for security but not sure about the fact that anyone could call and change an address and ask for the password to be sent out). So I opted for the password being sent out and asked them that when I call back they cancel service as of two months ago when we faxed in the original letter. They basically said "tough, we can't do that" so my mom gets to pay for 2-3 months of service when she didn't even own the house and had moved out.
Look I understand the security issues but it would have been easy for them to say look we made a mistake and not charge you for when my mom didn't live there but they couldn't care less. I walked away with the feeling that they want to make it as difficult for the elderly as possible to make sure they keep getting their monthly fee. I can't imagine what someone without a child willing to spend hours of their time on this would do. With the aging population companies need to be more sensitive to the needs of the elderly.

Terrible from the start. Never got $200.00 gift card. Don't use service at all now and when I did alarm could go off and ADT never responded. Went to cancel today, as I thought had 2 year contract and I'm moving. Found out minimum contract is 3 years (my bad) and only way service can be transferred is if I sign up for a new 3 year contract? No way!!! Get this. Will have to pay $500.00 to get out of contract, unless people who bought home want to reactivate service... Asked and was told "buyers have had a bad experience with ADT and have no interest in reactivating service." Go figure. How is this company even in business? 50 years old and truly one of worst experiences ever with a company and that is saying a lot. They are crooks.

Your agreement stipulates that cancelling prematurely would result in being billing for 75% of the remaining contract balance.

ADT was in my previous home when I moved there in '85 and I had it ever since. I like them pretty much and have been satisfied. However, they are not the cheapest. I'm well aware of other security companies that are a bit cheaper. But, you get what you pay for.

My ADT system needs to be fixed. The ringer is not loud enough. One time I came in and forgot to put it off, it went off and it's very low. If somebody came here and they hear that, it won't scare them. I had called about this one time and they told me they could give me a louder ringer. I just have to set an appointment. But other than that, everything is okay so far. When I call, I get them immediately and they tell me what I ask them.

ADT security is failing us pretty badly - faulty hook ups, and false alarms when it isn't even hooked up?! But of course they won't let us out of the contract, even though we are not receiving a product. Yes there have been attempts to remedy the situations, multiple attempts in fact, with the same result and we are so dissatisfied we simply want to distance ourselves from ADT. If the company would admit their faults and let us walk away, I might even reconsider them at another time in the future, but our complaints are met with sub par service, repeated mistakes and inadequate product performance, and no way out of the contract despite their "money back guarantee" which irreversibly cements a negative association with the brand.
I need to know a way to ditch this company when their product falters repeatedly. I am not going to pay a company solely for signing a contract with them when they don't deliver the expected product. I would like to avoid pursuing a lawsuit but it is quickly becoming the only option. It is as if the only way ADT makes money is selling contracts only and disregarding the customer.
UPDATED ON 02/05/2017: ADT has failed several times to provide a quality product, reasonable resolutions, technical support, and their customer service repeatedly seems oblivious to any issues on our accounts. So, this review brings great detail to the issues we have been experiencing because ADT is not providing any security to our home or business as per the contract we signed but is expecting us to remain in and be billed for said contract. We installed two systems when we first bought our home, in Feb. 2015, one for the business my husband owns at a different location, and one for the house. We were very interested in protection, as my husband has had items stolen at his business. The following is a timeline of issues experienced since installment:
Fairly soon after installment of sensors at the house location, we experienced incorrect sensor readings, at least 2 false alarms -but we declined have the cops called when the service called and asked us if that is what we wanted, though we were not sure the alarms were false at the time. A tech person came to address the home sensors; they were not showing that doors were closed when they were closed. The tech person left and the sensors do show doors are closed when they are indeed closed, but one sensor is now placed on a window. A window that is not a door and does not open. The window is to the right of the sliding door that we had asked the sensor be placed at. Really? He couldn't open the "door" to check the sensor???
The summer after the systems were installed, the system at the business location started giving off false alarms because a door sensor was not working. We estimate at least 2-3 false alarms caused police to arrive. (We are following up with local police and fire departments to get the full number of false alarms because it has been many times in the life of this contract.) We ordered a service technician to address the issue and a service technician came. The issues continued directly after. 2 more alarms occurred and we shut the system down at both our locations out of concern for further false alarms, which is a hassle to us when we have to leave our jobs and a hassle to local authorities. At this time we ask to get out of the ADT contract but were informed we cannot.
In the fall of that year, the garage door sensor at the business location started causing alarms to go off frequently. When my husband called ADT they explained the weather was causing the door to expand and the sensor to lose contact, and that "it's normal", and "happens when the weather changes". This is not a satisfactory resolution, and it was not outlined in the contract that the system may not work due to weather. Eventually, a service technician came out, put a sensor in a new location for the garage door. The system seemed to work until the spring of 2016. More false alarms, including fire alarms from ADT's smoke detector. We stopped setting the security system at the business location.
Early December of last year (2016) Issue: system giving false alarms while system not even armed. Cops were called. A service person came again, and the false alarms stopped while the system was off, but the system was not repaired. The technician said that there is another sensor in the business location that they could not find, and he deactivated from his system controls. But, when we tried to set the system to arm, the system would not arm because a sensor is faulty.
January 27th: A service technician was scheduled for last week, but no one showed up. My husband called ADT and they said the service call was cancelled? They do not have a reason why this service call was canceled. In the meantime, ADT calls twice a day, late at night (9 pm), and called me on my cell phone -though my husband expressly asked they do not call me - to inquire after bill payment.
Yesterday (Feb. 4th, 2016): Service appointment on again. At the business location, a door is showing open when it is not open. The service technician says that the "mystery sensor" is active though they cannot find it at the physical location, and so he says he deactivated it. Again. We have not been using ADT at either location because we don't want false alarms, nor do we want to trouble our local response units.
ADT argues (as it did when I posted my original review) that there are "no issues" with the house. But we rarely, if ever use the service at the house. We have ceased using the system for either location. We both work. We both cannot afford to address every false alarm - whether or not the cops are called, we are inconvenienced and this causes us expenses for leaving work, not to mention the amount we pay them for a non-service and zero security. We have no confidence in ADT's system, ADT's ability to resolve issues with service technicians, or ADT's ability to resolve customer service issues. It amazes me that ADT would treat people with such disregard as you would think repeat business would be of interest. But we have had such a struggle with them, we are letting as many people as we can to beware, and will take legal action if necessary to get out of the remaining contract.
The only resolution we want at this time is for the contract to be rendered null and void for negligence. We want any amount due to be dismissed. We are not asking for amounts to be refunded - and I think that is generous. If ADT would have been agreeable to this sort of resolution earlier, or at least act surprised and abashed that their systems are so faulty, we may have thought better of them. But to fight with us about their lack of service only proves to me that they have nothing to offer but a contract.

We met Alex at a home show & have had ADT in the past. We just recently purchased a home & with recent issues in our neighborhood we wanted a security system again. Alex came out, worked with us & our old equip we had. But our only complaint is The Ring Doorbell and the lack of knowledge the sales staff has with being able to access it at anytime. Wrong. After thirty days you have to pay more to access the cloud. Not good.

I've had ADT for years. Back in the day they were good, I’m not that crazy about them now. I have too many problems with their new system and it sucks. Since I upgraded which cost me $700, I've had nothing but problems with the motion detector, glass break and everything. I keep complaining and there's nothing I can do about it. Sorry equipment and not worth the money. I would never recommend ADT to anybody.

We had Brink's and then they got bought up by ADT. Then, the ADT's sales rep came out and looked us over. We called him up once because the only reason we have a landline is because of the alarm. Then, a couple of years ago when we were snowbirds at the time in the RV, we called him out and said, "What would it cost if we got rid of our landline and go wireless?" And he said, "Oh, that would be possible." But then he looked at our system and said we have to do a complete replacement of whatever we have. It was very expensive so we just stayed with our little landline and everything is doing well.

When they installed my house alarm system I was offered additional equipment for a total of $1300. I canceled next day because I didn't know they were going to charge that much money... Now they charged me the amount and I never received any equipment... Now it's been over a month that I keep calling trying to fix the problem but still no answers... We have dealt with ADT for over 9 years and this last few months has been the worst customer service continuously for lack of follow up and through on any and all complaints we have lodged with 4x different departments from sales office, to head office to customer loyalty and its manager to office of executive customer complaints. Not any of them followed up or through on the complaints and the ADT sold to a franchise model to the Mississauga sales office can literally say and not honor whatever was promised in writing in the field to customers! We were informed months ago from a manager Ben our sales person we were dealing with was ripping us off and overcharging and he can and would lower our bill by $15-$20 a month including taxes. He would upgrade our PVR a use to be $600 cost for $200 non digital but he goes and quits.
Because he quits no one will honor his deal to us in writing. We have a senior sales man come to us John ** who will walk through and even fix and adjust our alarm for our dog and handle everything we want. He quickly sits down and I ask him "do you need a walk through?" He confirms no. He looked at my file and he is prepared to offer me $5,000+ of equipment to upgrade me from my pulse to digital off the pulse as digital is the way to go and will be coming on line with the pulse in the coming weeks. And I could pick from many cameras whatever one I want even though he not I knew the differences of the cameras so it felt like the blind leading the blind.
He said he would do everything we needed for $4,000+. We said, "what's the warranty like." He said as long as we are with ADT with ADT equipment it is fully warrantied and covered to fix and maintain and replace if need be. We said,me and my wife we wanted a break down of costs to consider and confirm what we would go with and what we wanted to exclude. He said no it was a package deal and he is not prepared to break it down for us?
I looked at suggested retail and average price on line and offered him far less than he was quoting. He replied no and I said, "well, then this was a waste of our time," and he was free to leave and he demanded he wouldn't leave until we had a deal and was now prepared to lower our cost. And we said how and he said by removing the "free cameras" he included. This made me and my wife mad as a free camera we didn't ask for should be free or shouldn't be their padding out high price of an existing alarm system bought and owned already.
We asked him to leave or again break down the itemized cost of everything included in our package he had made with no walk though or confirmation of what we wanted or were looking for. We reported to head office his boss and it took several days but head office just sent a new request for sales office to send someone out. He called and said John ** is one of the best and he offered a good price and he didn't want to waste his time and if I wanted him to still come out the price would be more so. Furthermore he is unwilling and won't come out spoke to us and at us never got to reply and he hung up. Head office never followed up or through and the sales office was able to defend and do as they please.
We spoke to his manager who claims he is a good guy. Sent out another person whose pricing got more expensive. No two people or the same people could say or offer the same package or price twice which made the complete process seem less legitimate. We went to customer loyalty and their manager who offered us pricing to consider and when I called back they would only offer some as now they couldn't sell us everything we wanted. We had to deal with the sales office apparently. In the middle of the month and week in this past Nov 2016 things changed out of thin air?
We moved to Darlene ** from executive customer complaint office which was never pointed out to have existed and explained everything and she was horrified and promised to resolve. Spoke to apparently another person claiming to be John ** boss who had been missing in action for the last 6 weeks and he too could not or wouldn't offer the offer of the previous manager Ben even though we all his offer in email to us. Darlene saw our install of what was to be everything we wanted but ended up after waiting 6 weeks to not be everything. No cameras or DVR / PVR was on the truck or order no supplies needed to assist with our 20 lb dog but were had for another order but not ours and 3 weeks later no follow up or through to remedy or fix for us.
Promised equipment was missing and is still missing and Darlene has disappeared. When we contracted her during the install she claimed she would get back to us the next day. A few days later she did say she would follow up and disappeared. A week later goes on vacation for 2 weeks and after returning to work 2 days ago no emails or phone calls or messages returned via phone or email. And this shows us that ADT doesn't care doesn't have customer service and is free to destroy a brand and reputation built for years because a poor sales office run like time share sales. Make up a high price take it or leave it!
We researched other companies and offers to consider alarm and think Protection Rogers and Alarm Force all have processes and price plans that are for everyone not made up. Don't waste your time as we have go somewhere your business is valued and a process is had and will be followed. Darlene noted our problem and problems and a new customer service model was coming sometime in 2017 but it looks too late and well over due. Our experience has been **.

ADT has provided excellent service throughout the time I have been a customer. Would like to see more rewards given to long standing customers like myself; this would help to maintain that customer base. A year ago, me and my fiance moved into a very sketchy area and were renting. Knowing our lease would be up in a year I decided that security was completely necessary for us to feel safe in our temporary home. So I had ADT security system put in our home. Apparently, ADT does not service the Fort Myers area. It is a company subcontracted through them called ADT Defenders.
If this is the company that services your area just do yourself a favor and avoid at all costs! They are the rudest group of individuals that I have ever spoke to. Their glass break sensors are a joke. My dog's barking set them off. I spent the year bypassing them so my alarm did not go off every hour after a technician had come out and "turned them down" which was supposed to resolve the issue but it did not. The sense of insecurity grew stronger in my new home seeing as every time I was away the dogs were setting off the alarm and I didn't know whether my house was actually being broken into or not.
Now that my lease is up and I am moving to a nicer area I decided to cancel my service but apparently there was a 3-year contract that was signed which was never brought to either of our attention at the time which I have read is a major issue for many other people. So the option was to pay $623 to cancel or to pay $104 to move the system and sign another 3-year contract. Seeing that between first last and security at our new place was paid and we do not have $600 laying around to spend we decided to just pay for the service to be moved so at least we are paying for the year to be protected not to just have the system disconnected. So we had them put in the system once again and signed our life away to another three years.
Not even three days later we are having issues with our system again. There was a Zone 14 put on our system that does not even exist in our home setting off the alarm about an hour after the alarm is set. ADT representatives have been very pleasant about the situation and offered to cancel the service, but as soon as you are transferred to Defenders the tone and customer service level drops immensely. The one lady was so rude on the phone she acted like I was insulting her personally, and was so terrible it brought me to tears.
Please and I mean PLEASE do not make the same mistake as I did with this signing into this company as a renter! Every time you move, meaning each year for some of us, it is $100 to move service and another 3-year contract. I seriously do not know how it is legal. I have never met a company that allows their customer service agents to yell at the person paying for their services. Like I said you can definitely tell which customer service agents belong to each branch. When I spend a ton of money for a security system I expect it to be right and if it isn't I expect to be compensated for the time spent dealing over the phone to make it right and the time spent not being able to use the security system I am paying for because it was set up incorrectly. That is not something this company believes in.
To them, you are over-reacting, and your time wasted means nothing. They have you in a three-year contract that you can only terminate if a service technician has come out three times for the same reason yet they refuse to send a service technician out and decide to try and fix your service over the phone which has not been successful so far so another hour is spent on the phone with them for nothing to be fixed. So unless you want to pay high dollar to sign into a company that has no regard for the amount of time you take out to fix their issues then stay away!!!!

I called ADT due to sensors not working. We set up appointment for a technician. Once he arrived he stated a price that was unreal. I called in. They gave me the price of 44 dollars due to the plan we had but the repairman stated he wasn't going to honor it. He stated his name was Buck... After arguing back and forth with me and calling in a few times he stated a different price of 54 dollars. There is no way a tech should be able to make prices. Was very upset with ADT. We pay 62 dollars a month for alarm system that's a total rip-off!!!

I have the pad from ADT and the security package I got includes eight sensors on the windows and two of those are remotes. The service is fine however, I have a problem with them putting it in my son's name and he's 17. When I signed up, I gave the rep my name, my social, my date of birth but they came up with my son's name. And I've been trying to tell them from the day their rep came and I had to sign out the thing that it's not my name, that it was my son's. He was like, "Well, just sign it." I just want that changed to my name.
Another thing was they took money out of my account without even asking me. One day I went to the store to do my grocery and I noticed that my money wasn't in there. I called my credit card company to check the money out, and they told me it was ADT. When ADT came to install everything, the rep said that I didn't have to put anything down and that I only have to pay $53 a month and then they took out $100 for two months and I didn't authorize that. I'm satisfied with ADT but I just don't like the way things were going with what happened. They can do better than that.

20 years ago I had Brinks Security System installed, and over that time the rates kept creeping up with no update of system. 6 years ago I retired from being a Texas public school teacher, so I am now on a "fixed income". ADT the current owner of my 20 yr. old system was going up on rates again, so I called AGAIN to try to either get the system updated or the rates to stay the same. NO LUCK!!! ADT DOES NOT listen to long-time customers!!!
No offer was made either way, so my husband attempted to make some headway. Again, no luck. We have to keep a 20 yr. old system and pay higher rates!!! So, he called to cancel, nothing said about me being the account holder and had to have a 30 day notice!!! We went with another security system, and just got slammed with this news. Supervisor said when I signed the contract with Brinks, I agreed to give a 30 day notice. REALLY??? Who is going to remember that from 20 yrs. ago??? No one told me or my husband that the several times we had called. DO NOT USE ADT!!! THEY ARE NOT CUSTOMER FRIENDLY!!!

I called to cancel service after contract was over due to equipment not being able to work with my upgraded phone system (cable). I was offered an system upgrade for an additional $100 plus $13.00 more per month. I decided to cancel after that offer. I was told that the cancellation would be in effect after 30 days. I was charged for the next month ($41.99). It has been over 30 days since the cancellation and I was charged again.
I contacted customer service at ADT and I was told that this is normal and they charge for the month ahead. I checked my original contract and I was charged up front for the month. I explained to the CSR that I did not think that this is correct. I was told this is the way they do it and that this is their policy. Something is fishy and I really did not think that she was right. I told her that they are ripping customers off and the I was going to dispute the charge. All of the sudden, a credit of $50.34 appeared on my account and that I was slated to get a check in the mail. I was put on hold and then when she returned I was told that I would be credited directly to my credit card. Something is not right with their billing. BTW, an ADT supervisor contacted me a few days after I cancelled and offered an upgrade for no charge and a reduced monthly fee, but it was too late. I changed companies.

My son has ADT and told me about it. The sales rep was wonderful and he knew his products. We talked about my needs and what the options were, and he didn't try to sell me something that I didn't want. It was a long sales process but he was patient in dealing with me. He was also present during the installation. He made sure everything was perfect. I have a camera in the garage and a regular wireless alarm set for fire, gas, and theft monitoring. Everyone else was great too. They were very cordial and efficient. They explained everything about how to use the hardware and how to program the system. ADT met my requirements and my needs and I'm very satisfied.

I keep having issues connecting with the ADT website, and recently my cameras go 'offline' for no apparent reason - either for viewing or alarming. Additionally, the 'network relay switch' in the dining room for timing and 'triggered' lights from the outside cameras fail routinely. So far I'm very marginally 'OK' with ADT services. ADT needs to improve hardware reliability and connectivity.

Every time, when I call the ADT customer service, they don't think they need to be responsible for the call that they transfer my call between multiples departments and no one wanted to directly fix for me. I had ADT system for about one year-ish, but I scheduled about more than ten appointments to let techs come fix my system. Every time, different techs came to my house. Few techs were more responsible to fix the issues. Most of the techs were complaining about us and the internet connection. They didn't even try to fix the system, while actually, they didn't know how to fix it. The techs were not responsible and didn't care about the things that they should done for the customer. When we let them to check some things, they thought they were doing extra work compared with the previous techs. One of them even said: "What about you let him (the previous tech) come back and fix for you?"
The alarm usually went off, even we didn't set the alarm, probably at least ten times a week. No techs could fix it completely for us because when they tested it, it was okay, while after they had gone for two days, the system had troubles again. The police came to my house at least ten times in this one year. We received bills from the police department, but actually there were nothing really happened at our house while the system just showed something happened at my house. This is your job, tech. You should satisfy every requirement that I make.
I was extremely disappointed with the whole ADT system. The employees were not responsible for their job. For those who considered to use ADT, DON'T USE IT because there are more than one security companies in this world. Every employee was pushing their job to the next one. It was not worthy to stick with ADT. I think I'm going to contact other security companies for my own security.

My husband who has severe PTSD was frightened that somebody would come in the house and shoot him so I suggested that we get an alarm system. We had the motion sensor and it was fine. Nobody can get in without it going off in a very shrill alarm. In fact, he has calmed down a little bit and some nights, he does not even remember to turn it on. So, it's good for him. Plus, we had a severe windstorm and I had asked the customer service rep to come to double-check the thing we had on the outside of the house. He just came out and said, "Don't worry, it's fine." And everything works fine.

I have an account with ADT Security which included a 3 yr contract. The contract is now less than a year old. We had to sell our home and relocate, and ADT is forcing us to buy new equipment from them, even though there is nothing wrong with the current equipment. It is after all less than a year old. In addition to the hundreds of dollars they want to charge us for new equipment, they are also saying that we would have to get a new contract, meaning that the 3 year contract re-starts, and that we had a fee of about $200 for the move itself. Knowing that I cannot afford this, I inquired about canceling the contract, at which time they told me that the amount I would have to pay to cancel, far exceeds the cost of moving.
This practice is unethical, because none of this was discussed during the initial ordering process, neither by the telephone associates or the technician that did the installation. As a matter of fact, I found out only after the fact, that when I thought I was just signing the work order for the installation, I was actually being tricked into signing a contract. Had I been told of all this upfront, I would not have ordered the service, and would have gone with Simply Safe instead. As a single mother buying a new home, and with all the expenses involved with that, I simply cannot afford to continue an affiliation with ADT, which means that they will need to resort to reporting me to the credit bureaus, damaging my credit which I have worked very hard to building. This is unfair on every level. As a matter of fact, I contend that the method they used to get me into a contract was deceptive and therefore illegal. I am willing to pursue this issue accordingly.
Hello Jennifer- We genuinely apologize for the confusion and inconvenience resulting. We were able to locate your account and see that you initially purchased your security services through an ADT Authorized Dealer, Alarm Team INC, in October of 2015.
An ADT Authorized Dealer is an independently owned and operated company. They install and sell alarm equipment, but do not provide a monitoring service. They partner and contract with us to provide a monitoring service to their privately acquired customers and, in most instances, ADT purchases the contract from them after a pre-arranged set of time.
We apologize if the terms of your agreement were not thoroughly and verbally discussed at that time.
Your agreement stipulates many things but most importantly that you agree to receive ADT monitoring for 3 years at your current address. It states that if you are to terminate prematurely, you understand that you are still responsible for 75% of the remaining balance owed on that agreement.
Our relocation/reactivation is a benefit offered to all ADT customers. This policy stipulates that your termination balance will be waived if you remain with ADT by establishing services at your new residence. It also stipulates that if someone else moves into your previous residence and takes up services in their own name (directly through ADT), that termination fees may be waived that way too.
If you choose to relocate, based on your tenure as an ADT customer, you will receive a credit towards your new install that will discount the total cost of the new equipment. ADT is unable to transfer equipment due to the liability risks. A new agreement is necessary for a new location.

It was through the OJ Simpson case that we knew of Brinks and this was later taken over by ADT. We liked Brinks better, though, and we had an insurance that we pay for. Nonetheless, our ADT is working like it's supposed to but we don't have the contact that we used to have when we had it with Brinks. We have two of ADT's yard signs because we have two front doors, but one is broken. We could use a new one but I don't want to pay for it. I wouldn’t have to with Brinks.

I sold my home in Oct. 2016, I notified ADT about the move and informed them when I purchase another house I will reactivate my account. I received a call from an collection agency, asking for 1275.00 for a 3 year contract that I had defaulted on. I called ADT and I was informed that their policy you have 30 days to reactivate your contract. I told them that we had not purchased a home as of yet. I asked to speak to a supervisor. I was place on eternal hold in which I hung up. I will never use ADT again. Very unfair.

I spoke to Jimmy from American home alarm (ADT 3rd party vendor) last Nov. He promised me that if I choose ADT he'll give 2 months free that will start the following month and $100 gift card that will be mailed within 2-3 weeks. When I check my account they were charging me so I called them today to clarify. Now they are saying that the free 2 months will now take effect after 90 days and the gift card is 6-8 weeks! And I asked, "How come they said that's how it is?" I don't mind paying and waiting for something but I just hate people making all this promises just to convince the customer. Now that I signed for 2 years contract I have no other choice but to pay and wait. I hope you do something with your 3rd party vendor because it's not doing good with your business now.

The overall installation was very good and efficient. It would have been nice to have a little more clarity on the final costs. We had not anticipated what the sensors would cost. The instructions were a bit of an overload. We are from the vacuum tube, resistor era.

I feel very safe with this system. I love it. Great customer service as well. The ADT Pulse is a genius idea. The only thing I wish is that the camera system would send some sort of alert to either user or police if the camera detects suspicious behavior around your home or other ADT secured property.

ADT sales agent didn't directly answer our questions about early termination fees when we started the service. Later on, they sent us a bill of $1100. With multiple phone calls to customer service, loyalty department and my attempt to contact sales agent, each time they would give different answers and we never got a call back from sales agent. I rather pay termination fees than staying with liars and irresponsible people.

I wouldn't be with ADT if I wasn't satisfied with their service. Their sales representatives answered my questions and they took care of what I needed to be taken care of. They sent me another phone because they said mine was outdated, so I got a flip phone because all I ever use it for is to call somebody when I'm out of town. I was talking with two other guys and I told them that I don't have any problems with ADT.

I signed up for ADT for our home while it was undergoing a renovation. We intended to keep the service for only 6-12 months. Despite knowing this, the agent signed us up for a 2-year contract. I never would have knowingly signed up for the service with such a long-term commitment. Furthermore, I don't see why the commitment is necessary -- the installation was paid for in cash upfront. Since making this mistake, I have learned of other security services with better customer service, faster response times, and no long-term contracts. I would strongly discourage anyone from using ADT.

I've had ADT a long time and my experience is very good. All the people seem to be very cooperative and want to make sure that their service is what it's supposed to be. I had a little problem here recently; a couple of batteries got low and a false alarm went off. Then, the representative who came by was very efficient and courteous.

The technician was friendly, courteous, and prompt. However, the additional charges of over $600 for equipment was an unpleasant surprise based on my upfront fee of $104. I think ADT would be better served if that were explained during the introductory period versus having the poor technician be the bearer of bad news.

I signed on with ADT and was confident that they would provide adequate protection insecurities for my home but as of now after several false alarms, police visits, numerous calls to ADT, the issue is still unresolved to cancel the service that has never worked properly. They want over $1,000 for a service that has never work properly or serviced by professionals and in my opinion these people aren't concerned one bit of the security of my home. All that I can tell that they are concerned with is making money. I have set for 4 days during the Christmas holiday when I should have been with my family at home with a faulty security system that doors have to be bypassed and unset or secured so that I can set the security system. What is the point and having a security system if I can't secure main points of entry as I leave for the holidays?
I have called ADT contractors, have tried to get somebody out here to fix the system and have been met unprofessional jokers that have no concern for my home security. I warned you, do not consider this system or this service to protect your home. When signing up with ADT they told me nothing about private contractors coming into my home and being responsible for the service of my system. I thought I was hiring ADT but in fact all ADT is a monitoring system they have nothing to do with the actual security system of your home. They take no part and making sure the system is functional or that you are satisfied as a customer with the system once the system is in place. It's basically hit and miss with the quality of service it provides. I sincerely don't think that they care one bit if your home is secure.

While trying to cancel my service today due to lack of use, I encountered a rude and arrogant customer service rep. His name is Peter and his ID is **. He was continually talking over me and was not helpful at all. I proceeded to ask to speak to a supervisor but of course they were running on a skeleton crew and were not available to talk to me. My wife called back to ask for our contract to be emailed to us and her exact words after she got off of the phone were "I'm not sure who the bigger douche was" due to her experience with a different guy at ADT. I understand that companies do not want to lose business but this sort of treatment not only ensures that we will cancel service ASAP, but will never use them again. I also will not recommend them to my friends and family.

I was contacted by an ADT representative at the ADT Norcross, Ga location. When the representative contacted me we reviewed the quote for service. Rep explained the application process to me saying that they just needed some personal information for their records. Rep also mentioned that credit will not be pulled. I agreed to move for with process. I started to feel uncomfortable with questions I was being asked such as past addresses, date of birth, social security number.
I stopped and asked why was all of this information necessary. She said it was a new process and assured me nothing would be done with my information and credit report would not be checked. Within a few days I received an alert that my credit report had been compromised and an unauthorized inquiry had been made. I was very upset by the deception and potential identity theft. I immediately contacted the management and they assured me that this shouldn't have happened. Very unsatisfied.

ADT calls me to let me know that there’s been an alarm off at my house, then they call the police department. Sometimes that happens if I accidentally open the door and they notice an alarm going off or if they notice something’s going on with their system. Last night I forgot I set the alarm earlier than I normally do and I had some Christmas lights out front. I opened the door and the alarm went off, but they didn’t call on that one because it didn’t go off very long. We also had a large theft where a small gang of kids broke into the house and a few other houses, but ADT was very helpful. Any kind of meeting with them that somebody had to come here has been excellent.
The installer was here for quite a while and he showed us how everything that's in the house worked. There’s a book with it, too. There was something going on with one of our batteries and I didn’t realize it was a battery, and the book explained that. ADT called us telling us there was something wrong, then they did some tests on the system and the batteries hasn’t done it since. They’re one of the better alarm systems around and I’m glad we called them.

Honestly, I've set my alarm off numerous times from my baby hitting the panic button to me leaving a door slightly open to trying to change the battery in the wrong fire alarm unit by popping it open and every single time I get a call from the nicest most respectful people on the planet making sure I'm ok. It's a comfort to know someone is there every single time without delay. And guess what if I miss the call and don't call them back they contact the police. Yes that happened too.

We had been loyal ADT customers for nearly 6 years. Our insurance company USAA had referred us to ADT. As a USAA member we were guaranteed additional service perks and a reasonable price. I contacted ADT today regarding another substantial price increase to our account. The representative was helpful but could not fully resolve the billing issue. I requested to speak with a superior to explain and resolve my questions. "Frank" the supervisor was defensive and rude from the get go. He stated that we were required to call yearly when we noticed a price increase and that ADT does not monitor the special pricing that USAA members are guaranteed. We are not even sure what USAA members should be paying as Frank would not provide us with this information. We decided right then and there we had enough.
Frank's lack of customer service and helpfulness prompted us to cancel our service. When we requested the cancellation Frank's exact words were “Let me get this straight. You’re canceling your account over a $3.00 a month increase." We did not dignify his rudeness with a response. We canceled our account and have another service provider scheduled to restore our service within the next 3 days. Sorry to leave them in many ways but we will not be subject to the 45% increase in monthly fees we have incurred over the past 5 years.

We've had ADT for 10 years and we've had it upgraded a couple of times since then. We've got a remote, smoke detectors, and I can arm and disarm it from my phone. Everybody has been very pleasant and helpful. They've taken care of what we needed them for, and so far, I'm very satisfied with the service. The Pulse system rarely works and the batteries on the door lock run out frequently with no warning. The other complaint that I have is that ADT offers all kinds of new equipment for new customers but gives nothing for existing loyal customers.

This company has been AWFUL! First of all, they pressured me to buy all kinds of sensors I didn't want and charged me over a thousand dollars for them. Then, the next month they mailed me a promotion to get ALL OF THE SAME SENSORS FOR FREE! After talking to other customers, I've discovered that they give the sensors to anyone who doesn't want to buy their service as bait. So since I CHOSE to use this particular company in advance, they penalized me for it.
Next, the alarm would go off and the ADT Pulse application had so many problems that most times I was unable to remotely disarm the alarm! This was terrible. I would call customer support and they would tell me that there were issues or that it must be my phone service, only I use several phone applications to run various home services and I know that this is simply just not the case. The app was riddled with issues and often un-usable. I purchased this service BECAUSE the app was something I would absolutely need to use.
I had to move out of my place, and could no longer use the ADT system. I'm not in a building that has their own security system and has told me they will not let me use my own. ADT is now trying to charge me 75% of the contract fee which is HUGE and frankly, I just can not and will not pay this. I'm so upset with this company. I will make it my MISSION to campaign to every single home-owner I know to use one of their many competitors unless they waive my cancellation fee AND apologize for their awful Pulse service.

My dad and I decided that we needed to get a security system in the home since neither one of us was going to be readily available here. So, we went with ADT because they've been fairly well recognized as one of the best in the business. I set it when I leave the house. It has features that monitor the front door, the side door, and the back door. All these are connected and if anyone should try to break in through those doors, the alarm would go off.
I retired a couple of years ago and prior to that, after my dad passed away, the home was unattended through the day while I was at work. A couple of times the ADT team called me at work to report an alarm. Once was when we had a small earthquake that shook the neighborhood and set off the alarm. The other one was when an electrical storm passed through the area and the power went out, and the alarm went off. They contacted me at work to let me know that the alarm was going off, and I came home and turned it off.
It's been about a year or so ago that I was contacted by someone from the company about upgrading my service so that I could connect it to my smart phone, but I don't have a smart phone. It's an old system and could be upgraded, but it seems to be working fine. However, the warning lights on the control box continually flash, but when one of their technicians came out here and checked this out, he said that the system was working fine if I can just ignore the lights. So, the warning lights are going to continue to go off this way and can't be turned off because it's such an old system. I don't have a problem with that, since the control box is in an out-of-the-way place, and it's not an eyesore. Other than that, I had problem with the system when the monitor on the rear door had been damaged, and the technician came and replaced it for me.
I still utilize the system whenever I leave the home. I set the alarm when I leave and turn it off when I come back. So far, the service has been great and I haven't had any problems. It's been a good and positive experience overall with ADT. They're definitely top-rating. I feel comfortable having the service because, when I do occasionally leave town for a few days, it's nice to know that my home is protected.

My husband forgot they moved the contact in garage. After he pushed the button he said "oh no, I forgot." He was worried to get salt down in case I came home from hospital next morning. That's what was on his mind and not the alarm. ADT called within 30 seconds and I explained what happened. He was so sorry that he did that. And ADT was so understanding. I love the peace of mind having ADT has given me. I have pets and my biggest concern is their safety when I am not home. The couple of times that my alarm has gone off (once for a glass break alarm when I was home, once when I opened the front door without disabling the alarm) ADT was on it! They called right away! The company that installed my system, Safe Haven here in St. Louis, was awesome as well. The person that installed was professional and thorough. I was impressed! I've known about ADT for a long time because I worked at a bank. So I knew the quality. Our company was bought by ADT and that's why we have them. I love the sales rep that we had when we first bought the security system. He's the one that sold us on it, because at first I had all these unfounded thoughts. I figured that, "Oh, we're gonna have an alarm. They're gonna see the sign out there. They're gonna try to get in just to see that they can do it." But ADT's signs do help. People leave us alone when they notice that we have an alarm.
We have a regular alarm so that we can set it at night and then we can set it in the morning when we leave. One day, we had a door locked but wasn't latched. We didn't pull it real tight to make sure. We went to the gym to work out then we got a call that our door was open. What happened was a guy came to fill the oil and he put the bill on the door. When the door opened, it set the alarm off. ADT called our son and then the cops met us at the gym with him. I feel very protected with ADT and I'm very happy with them.
We're on a monthly payment which they take out of our account. I like that a lot better and I don't even have to worry about it. Originally I was getting the bill once a year. I called them up and said, "That's a hunk of money at one time for a retired person. Can we get on a monthly payment?" It was no problem at all.

The response to the alarm was more than adequate. My son was cooking and the smoke detector went off. When I wasn't able to get to the system to disarm soon enough I received an immediate phone call. I'm definitely impressed with the expediency of the ADT representatives.

ADT is the best security you can have for your home. It protects my: front door, garage door. My bedroom window, the guest bedroom window. My tv room window, there is a motion detector for the two sets of sliding doors to the deck. And one for the dining room.

I continue to have the worst experiences with ADT Customer Service. I simple wanted to discuss shortening the time from which the police would be notified once the alarm has sounded and verify if a police permit was on my account. I call, explain this to a young man. He states, "we can have someone shorten that time for you simply and another agent will have to verify if your account is up to date." Call started off GREAT. Friendly and seemingly helpful. But all that changes once the dreaded "transfer" is initiated. Agent transfers me and I have to start the entire conversation over. Why does ADT continue to COLD transfer people?? Is it too much to stay on the phone and relay the information to the new person so they don't have to ask the same general questions over and over??
Young lady on the phone starts the normal convo and then explains to me that "we can shorten the time from which the alarm is sounded but we would have to send out a technician to your home and you'd be charged a fee." FEE?? Apparently this isn't covered under general maintenance? I ask her if she can provide me with a location online that outlines general maintenance coverage which she says she can't. So I have no way to validate this or not? So now I've received 2 different stories for the same issue. It's not quick and easy and it won't happen without a fee attached?? I asked her why did the installation technician not go over this? Who in the right mind wants their alarm to SOUND FOR 60 SECONDS before ADT even reaches out to you? 60 SECONDS is a long time in the case of a real emergency.
I'm frustrated at this point but move on to my 2nd question. "Can you verify if my account has the necessary paperwork that attaches my home to the police?" Now here is where I almost lose it. She immediately says it doesn't have the permit. I'm thinking to myself, self, that was a pretty quick response to my question. So I ask again, "can you tell me what the last permit number was on my account because I've had ADT for such a long time, I know the permit expires and the old one should be on my account." She then says, "what is your address?" To which I reply, "how do you know if the permit is on my account or not if you haven't even logged into my account!!!"
At this point, I am truly done. This isn't the first time I have had issues with ADT Customer Service. Does their product work? Yes. Do I feel safe at times with it? I know it isn't a surefire thing but that is what the 2nd Amendment kicks in. I just can't get past the customer service. I love ADT's product but customer service is what keeps people coming back or referring it to others. At this point, I believe we may switch out of ADT once our contract is up on the weakness of customer service. I am only writing this in the hopes that something can be done to better train the staff. The staff is making the product seem worthless.

Was very please with the update to my system and the small amount that it cost me. The tech explaining things to me while he was installing the new system. He showed me how everything was going to work, including the camera. I would like to see a little more time spent going through everything more slowly or you have to learn as you go or when something happens.

We used ADT in our office starting 30 years ago and then added them to the house. We have two boxes and we have a couple of motion detectors and a battery backup. Several years ago we decided to have somebody come and make sure the battery was working. So they put some new equipment in, but same service, and we’ve had no problems it. We set the system off accidentally and they’re always very nice. They're very quick to respond, usually within a minute. We’re totally satisfied with ADT.

Travel all the time and needed to feel good about leaving our home empty. ADT has come through for us. Very fast response with alarms every time – even when it was our fault??? I am really pleased by the professional that is exhibited/ demonstrated each time I need to speak with a representative. When I first signed up I opted to receive the keypad and that was a big mistake. I needed another system at my front door. It is still possible to receive as a promotional? My system needed an update and I had been working out of town. Not only did they fix my system, but were able to do it the next day. The tech arrived early and his manager was bringing parts needed for the update. Both were very friendly and had me taken care of in less than an hour. Was not informed that you had to have a permit for your security system. That was a need to know! Also that the city police department will charge you every time they responded to an alarm, also a need to know. Besides paying monthly I now have a notice to pay the city for system and the alarm call. That's not right. Considering going to another alarm company!!

Video demonstrated all types of alarm systems and how to change time if applicable to your particular model. Very useful information although I did not have to change my time on my particular model. I have been a customer for many years, and each time I needed assistance, representatives have not disappointed. Don't think I would be happy with any other security system. ADT is reliable and I trust them. Sometimes when we forget to turn off the alarm when it is in the "stay" mode ADT calls but no one speaks. How do they know everything is ok?

We had telephone service for ages and then, we switched over to ADT. Then, somebody called us about U-verse and that sounded like a good deal so we signed up for U-verse. We had a couple of young ladies come to the door and try to upgrade the package and that was a bad experience. The two ladies were very nice but half of what they told us was not true and not accurate. It's either they didn’t know what they were talking about, or they lied to us. We talked with several people and we got up the chain after about six different transfers and calls from people. ADT gave us some recompense financially. Ever since then, everything has been fine. I wish we had faster internet service cause they don’t have the fiber-optic cable out here. But we were told they were going to have it so that would be nice. Otherwise, we're happy with our experience.

We've been with ADT for a long time and it's been good with them. I've had battery change-outs and other issues and their reps have all been very pleasant. However, it was a little difficult when we had to get together to do the upgrade. It was inconvenient when they wanted to schedule it and then they sent us a nasty email saying that if we didn’t schedule, they're gonna cut off our service. I didn’t find that very nice. Also, I recently had cameras installed in my mother’s house because she has memory problems and I use them to monitor her but the definition’s not real good as I had expected. I really thought the cameras would be of a little higher quality as far as the picture goes.

Delighted to return to ADT. However, I felt the sales representative was a bit pushy in regards to the sale. It was beneficial for the sale rep to add devices and products that neither worked with the layout of the home nor granted the desires of the customer. It was the installation team that made a better sales pitch and gave us more detail options of what would work better for the home. I am pleased with the installation and customer service I have received thus far by ADT. I hope you continue to strive for better sales rep training to ensure proper knowledge of equipment when doing home quotes. Thank you.
