    I’ve been a customer of ADT for about eight years now. I’m happy with the system I got but the fee for the monitoring is a lot higher than other services. I’ve got a friend that’s got a service about two houses away and she only pays $26 a month and she’s got cameras on it and all kinds of monitors. She’s even got a door that if they walk up to it, the door takes a picture of them. Her monitoring fee stays at $26 a month but every year or two with ADT, I get a letter that says that they’re going to raise it to a certain percentage and I’ve got to call and get them to keep it where it is. She’s got the James Alarm and even though it would cost me about $1,200 to initiate the service, I’ve debated on getting it for a long time because I can get a lot more.

    It’s sad that when I tried to upgrade my system here with ADT, they told me that because I had satellite, they weren’t able to operate my system and that they couldn’t upgrade it. My friend has the same satellite like mine and James Alarm was able to give her all kinds of stuff. She’s got everything, like cameras on the outside and at different angles around. ADT didn’t want to have anything to do with it and we’re paying $37.44 a month that I’m always having the battle to get them to keep it at that. If I didn’t have so many other things I’m trying to do, I probably would’ve gone ahead with the other alarm system by now and done it. ADT does their job, but I can have a service that’s as good with someone else and not pay as much.

    Your agent was very thorough in describing the reason for dispatch of police to my condo. I explained that I had canceled the alarm like I usually do but she explained that since I had activated a panic alarm that I also needed to call ADT immediately together with a phone call to you. I was not aware of this and also did not know how I had accidentally activated the panic alarm because there is not a button for it on my key fob.     With technology changing rapidly, I would think that ADT would be informing clients of what new technology is available from ADT that clients might want to consider. For example, we are interested in exterior home camera systems, both wireless and wire that we might want to take advantage of to further secure our home. Other than new technology, we are very happy with ADT and except for a brief departure from ADT, have been very satisfied with ADT for over 15+ years.     About once a month, I get a trouble light on my panel. It is caused whenever we have a thunderstorm and the phone gets cut off for a second. I call ADT and they do a test, which of course, sounds the siren and makes the neighbors think I'm being invaded. But ADT is always very nice about it and they solve the problem and the trouble light goes off. I wish the system were not that sensitive, however.

    We have been members of ADT since 1992 and would not change. The system failed once in 25 years and was upgraded for a minimal fee. Their monitoring and reporting of intrusions is as specified. Great service. They have grandfathered my rate, so we are currently under their quoted fees. My only recommendation would be to allow new features without canceling my grandfathered rate or only with a small increase.

    My local rep is Ali from Millennium Alarm Systems and is ALWAYS available. Our installation tech is Zeke - seriously who knows their installer on a first name basis? I recently moved and the process was smooth as butter! I had to call into the 800 number and the woman there was impeccable with her service and information and made sure I was 100% clear on everything. I would and do recommend ADT and Millennium to whomever I speak to - I have other alarm companies trying to tempt me with referral fees (I am a real estate agent) monthly. I tell all of them that I am all set and there's no way you could get me to switch providers or recommend to my clients anyone else.

    We were coming up to the end of our three year contract on our townhome when we sold and bought a much larger family home. When we called to transfer our existing service, with a few added window sensors at the recommendation of the ADT phone sales rep, ADT sent out an interesting character to install our new system, who smelled a bit strange, but was very friendly.

    At the end of the long 4- to 5-hour installation process, the installation guy handed me a contract for a 3 year renewal, saying please sign this, your wife has already signed one. I called my wife to ask if this was true, and sure enough it turned out that the "transfer" paperwork she was told she was signing was a 3 year renewal contract, which was not discussed on the phone with her. The installation agent explained to me that I had 72 hours to decide that their services were not for me, so I went along with my wife and signed the contract.

    I realize the onus here on my wife is to read a contract thoroughly, but I still can't help but feel like we were getting worked over by ADT in a sneaky, deceitful, slightly obtrusive manner. Our plan was to let the contract play out (to exit a contract requires you pay 80% of the remainder as penalty) and handle our security privately, not that that even matters. There was a complete lack of honesty in the situation, and when my wife called to confront the phone agent, she was pitched another contract.

    We cancelled during our 72 hour trial period of the new system. That was two weeks ago.     I feel that ADT provided me with an easy way to secure my home. They were able to update and reestablish service on a preexisting system very quickly. I feel that one thing that ADT could improve on is the options they have for service. Unless you live in the stone age you have to have their second tier package, and if you live remotely you can't use the perks of the top tier package. The packages for service felt forced as I didn't have much of an option as to what I chose. This can be discouraging as you do have to sign a 3 year contract with them.

    I have called numerous times to complain about our ADT Pulse app crashing since the new update on Sept. 18th. I was told ADT is aware that iPhone 6s and above are having a problem with the app, but they have no ETA for a fix. I would think a company as large as ADT would make this an urgent issue and fix it asap, since the app is non-functional right now, and therefore not even a reason to have the Pulse system. We were in Australia when the update came out and were not able to access our home camera or system from there. NOT GOOD! The customer service reps I spoke with were excellent; they are not the problem. The IT department perhaps needs an overhaul, if so many people have the Pulse system but are unable to use it at all. I have been with ADT since the 90s, but will drop them if this is not fixed soonest. The app crashes immediately upon signing in (if you get that far), thus making it useless.

    When we had to have a battery replaced and some other issues resolved, the technicians found that the signal box needed to be replaced as well. The box we originally had was for AT&T. The technician discovered that the AT&T signal was too weak in our area and changed it to a Verizon box. Our daughter recently changed her phone, TV, and Internet from AT&T to Comcast and found out that her security system was not getting signals. ADT technicians came out and spent several hours and installed a signal box to get her system working properly. In both of these situations, the ADT technicians were knowledgeable and professional as all of our interactions with ADT have been. I know because I have dropped items and set off the glass breakage alarm, opened doors and walked out without turning on the alarm, and more. In each of these several instances, depending on the time it took me to disarm the system, ADT has responded with either an automated phone call or when I didn't move fast enough, a live person phone call - very impressive. Additionally, even the signs in front of my house are a deterrent because the bad-guys know ADT works.     We have had the ADT system since 2006. We have had a few false alarms but all but one was human error. A glass breaker failed early on, was replaced and no further problems. Our system is mainly wireless and the batteries last 10 years +. You cannot ask for more than that. Every time I have called customer service they have been courteous and answered my question the first time around. The CO detector has to be replaced about every 5 years, they do wear out. We have a service contract so response time is usually very fast.

    You never know what you have signed up for until you have a problem. ADT's installers and contracts are farmed out to 3rd parties. All ADT does is provide the well-known name and field alarm calls. Nothing but headaches with the 3rd party organization, Defenders. They forgot to obtain my alarm permit as promised. Three months later I had a false alarm (wind blew door open) and San Diego Police sent me an invoice for $400.00 for not having an alarm permit. Endless hours on the phone with Defenders trying to resolve. I AM NOW PAYING ADT EVERY MONTH FOR MY ALARM AND IT IS IN TEST MODE since I don't have an alarm permit. ADT's customer service response, "I know this is awful but you have to call DEFENDER. We don't own your contract." Hah! If I only knew then what I know now... Steer clear of this well known, shady operation. My .02 cents.

    ADT, which was then Brinks, had good recommendations from a friend of mine. The sales rep was comprehensive, had a thorough view of my needs and understanding of what we were looking for and recommended the system features we got. We have ADT's wall arm and disarm and full protection for glass breaking and window as well as door opening and closing. The installation was flawless and so far I'm very satisfied with the features of my system. I like the ease of use and immediate responsiveness even if the alarm is false.

    ADT was extremely accommodating. When I called them, they said they could be here the next day and they could reconnect the system the day after that. It's hard to find that kind of responsiveness. Usually, it's, "We'll get back to you in a week and it'll be between noon and midnight." Since the installation, they've come out twice. One was to change out the battery and the second time was more recent when I replaced my front door. That was just a request to come and put a sensor back on. ADT has been outstanding.

    ADT sales dept. explained that I would be paying a monthly rate (the price sales dept gave me and the installer gave me were totally different). The sales dept never mentioned that I would need additional holes to mount ADT equipment and an electrical plug outlet to use. I had explained to ADT sales that I had an existing alarm system and the sales office said they would use that and just add their keypad in the same location (NO electrical outlet was required for that alarm keypad). The installer, Cheryl was frustrated when I didn't want to use her choice of keypad installation (on my living room wall). We never were able to go over the keypad system and operation as when I asked a question, she said to read the paperwork she gave me as it was in there. I didn't receive the extra features they had promised and my monthly payment came out to $4 more a month for 3 years (which customer service has corrected).

    ADT scheduled a block of time (11 to 3) on Friday, 9/29/17 for the installer to bring me out a keychain car alarm that she hadn't left the night of the installation. I was told the installer would call 30 mins before arriving to my home. I sat and waited 11:00 to actually 3:30p.m. and NO ONE ever called or showed up. I had to call and reschedule another day to sit and wait. It's be very frustrating working with ADT and I'm so disappointed as I had been with them for 15 years (great service then) and wanted to go back with them. I'm unhappy that I did! I'm sharing this as I don't want other people to share the same frustration. Thank you.

    Originally, ADT called me when the alarm went off, and I advised them NOT to contact the police. The person I spoke to confirmed this and hung up. A month later, I received a false alarm fine from the city where I live because ADT had called the police despite telling me they wouldn't. When I called their customer service to query it, another customer service agent advised me to pay the city and I would be reimbursed by ADT. I asked her multiple times if we would be denied reimbursement and she said no.

    I mailed the copy of the payment and after 3 months (yes, 3 months!!) I was told by ADT that they wouldn't reimburse me the $85 as I didn't have the proper authorization word when originally called. Prior to the alarm going off, I had called ADT on 3 separate occasions to request that the code word be mailed to me. On those 3 separate occasions, their customer service representatives advised me that we would receive something in the mail. We never received anything. So how are we meant to confirm a word that ADT won't notify us of, even when I've requested it 3 times?

    On the denial letter, they state that if you want to address the denial, you have to email, so I emailed them. Then a week later, I got an automated response saying to call their customer services. When I call their customer services, they say I have to email. So nobody will discuss this issue with me. It's an absolute disgrace, and some kind of scam they're running. Avoid ADT if you can. I can't wait for my contract to end, so I can get as far away from them as possible.

    I understand that you have some concerns regarding ADT’s procedures in why you are not called or you received a recorded message if the alarm is tripped and you enter your code to disarm your system. If you accidentally set off your alarm and enter your code to disarm the system, you may or may not be notified.

    To further explain this, on a burglar alarm the signal will transmit 30 seconds after the siren activates. On fire/carbon monoxide/medical/or any type of life safety device the signal transmits upon activation of the siren. Once the alarm signal is received in the monitoring center, the agent will start notification procedures of the signal.

    However, if an authorized restoral code is received, the agent may disregard the alarm and an Interactive Voice Response call is placed to the premise number. This procedure is to help reduce false alarms being reported to authorities.

    ADT technician was at my home today and to discuss the new security system they were selling and If I agree they will do an install. He visited my home and told me he would like to check if the signal is reachable in my home before any installation. I told him I will not be taking any installation with proper documentation and signature. He said it is just a check. He dismantlement my existing security system without my authorization and then started saying there is no power supply and he will need to move the panel, I disagreed to move the panel and after a lot of discussion decided I don't want the system and told them to put the system back to the state it was.

    He put the power back and said he has not touched anything in the panel. I disagreed as I got an alert that panel was tampered. He went out and told me he will put the things back in the car and will come back and also get me with customer service to get my $100 back which they had charged before the someone come home. But, he never returned and disappeared from outside. I called many people in this business and they were rude not putting back my existing system and it in 11:20 pm EST now and my system doesn't have A/C power and my service provider is now charging in service fee to come home to fix the issue. They are fraud, what kind of service will they provide later.

    ADT purchased the company that I was previously doing business with and a few years ago, there was a problem where the cops would get false alarms and they would come by. We are allowed three false alarms per year before we are fined $100 a pop. I got fined a couple of years in a row. So I called ADT and spoke to someone who said they will have it checked, disarmed and have the fault rectified.

    But about a month later, it happened again. At this point, I was a little miffed about it. I called ADT back and they said that what they did was only good for about a month. In order to get it done properly, I'll have to have somebody out to the house to which I asked why somebody didn't tell me about it in the first place.

    A couple of hundred bucks later for the cops, somebody came out. He was fine and he did whatever he did and it was resolved. Everything has worked since. We use ADT regularly and they do a good job. It's adequate, and I haven't been robbed. Also, I have been paying $97.28 quarterly and it has not gone up for 15 years which is grand.

    I have been a ADT customer for over 16 years. Their system is easy to use, it’s reliable and has does not need maintenance. It has a feature that uses a mobile number to contact emergency services and a much better mobile system than previous. I pay a little bit more than the systems being offered for self installation, and I do not have to have some awkward gizmo somewhere in the house to manage the system. When my electrical power goes out, the backup battery is able to support the system thru the power outage. Their customer service is professional and has always been able to answer my questions or provide additional options. My system is hardwired with some battery operated sensors. Batteries lasted over ten years in those sensors. I would recommend ADT to anyone searching for a solid security system.

    Please let customers know that ADT Security has zero liabilities if there are losses due to theft, as shown in the Terms & Agreement. VERY IMPORTANT! I was an ADT customer for 8 years and had burglaries and was never notified by ADT & Police/fire department. I lost about $45,000 in cumulative theft. I bought the business with pre-installed ADT security system. I was not informed they were monitoring my biz whenever a delivery would come in, with inventory at least $1,000. Next day it would disappear. ADT can remotely turn on and turn off system. In the area of my biz was village ordinance requiring keys be given to fire department. My neighbors gave their biz keys to them. Their own ADT employees (cops and fire department personnel and their affiliates) enter premises under the color of the law then steal, not notifying biz owner (me) there was someone in my business.

    Went to court and because of exculpatory clause in Terms & Service, cannot win claim against ADT. BE CAREFUL THIS COMPANY!!! When they realized I was suspicious, they planted evidence (cops) that caused my source of income to be gone!!! They planned their strategy well. Filed a complaint with government agencies, nobody investigates criminal activities of the cops!!! I bought a video surveillance system from them (at that time it was a new technology and whenever I had a break in, the video systems broke down). Still fighting for my license I lost in courts.

    My in-laws have had ADT home monitoring for 20 years at the same home. This week when I went to stop the service because the home was going to be put on the market they made it such a painful process. My M-I-L is 90 years old. She couldn't follow all the prompts that the phone put her through. So finally I had to get involved. They wanted a faxed letter, death certificate (because they couldn't be guaranteed that my mother in law wasn't divorcing and that indeed her husband was deceased) along with other information. Really, 20 years of service and someone calls to say they want to cancel service and how would she handle all of this if I weren't there to help her. I had ADT when I was relocating from one state to another due to a job transfer. They were a pain to deal with then as well. They are only happy and accommodating when you start service. Not for canceling.

    I got tricked into a contract with double the price. They did not state beforehand 2 months of billing would be charged to my card. They don't want to honor their money back guarantee of 6 months, they lie over and over. I went to cancel one week later after my service was installed and spoke to management about how unhappy I was with my installation and security system and simply just wanted to cancel. They proceeded to tell me I was already over my 3 day satisfaction guarantee and I stated they have on their website a money back guarantee for 6 months. The agent told me there was no such thing and that she don't know where I got that false information when on their website it clearly states I have 6 months hassle free. Clearly it's not hassle-free.

    Spoke to them a second time and was told by another agent I had 90 days from my start time to back out so I went ahead and said, "OK I want to do that." She then transferred me over to cancellation dept. This agent told me I have 3 days and was already over the 3 day period so I asked to speak with a supervisor. That's when things got ugly... She was very dismissive of my situation, she was talking over me saying there was nothing she would do to help in any way after I explained to her I was unhappy and felt tricked into this contract. I asked for the Corp. phone #. She then gave me the same number I used to call customer service and told me she ran the highest dept. and there was nothing else or anyone else that would help me, that no matter who I tried to call I would get the dept she was working on.

    When I asked for her name she refused to state what was her last name and said, "We don't give out last names in this company" so I left it at that and tried the number she gave me. To my surprise I got the same dept. so I tried again to have them honor their money back guarantee. This time I mentioned I don't want any money back just wanted to simply cancel. Again I was told I had to speak with cancellation dept. At this point I decided they were not going to honor their guarantee and gave up.

    When we moved into the house there was already an alarm system but, it was not the ADT. My sister who lives in Everett Massachusetts has an ADT system and she really liked it so when we switched the carriers, we went with ADT. We got the basic system unlike my sister's which talks and tells them when the front door is open. ADT took over what we had and listened to what my wife and I had to say about what we like and didn't like about the system that we had. They were good about modifying based on our needs.

    Whenever the alarms went off, they have been very responsive. They called the police department and got them out here to check the place so I'm very lucky that we've never had a break in. However, we're on a fixed income and we’re retired. Whenever they raised the rate, it's a big thing for us even if it's only a couple of bucks. But the customer service department has been willing to work with us regarding that and I'm pleased. I'd recommend them without hesitation.

    Somebody got robbed across the street so a few of our neighbors and I decided that we needed to do something because we were going to go on a long trip. I was very happy with the presentation of the gentleman from ADT as well as what he had to offer and the efficiency of how they put the system in. We got the basic alarm function and we have a wireless system. The installers put all the sensors in then we had a problem with the far reaches of our house so they came back and rewired the system with a wire for those sensors so I would have better connection with them. After that, we put in additional motion detectors and deleted a couple of window sensors. The technicians came as promised, did the job and were gone.

    I've had a few service calls and ADT has taken care of the problem. We had one burglary and they responded very promptly. We were out of town but they contacted me and my neighbors were very good to let the police in. I've also had a couple of blotch in the system and ADT has been very good about calling me about that. I've been very happy with their service and I would recommend them.

The installation was lengthy because our phone system wasn't compatible and the installers had to put something in the attic to make it work, but they got it done.     We upgraded our old system to the Safe Watch Pro 3000 to take advantage of an improved system as described by the ADT salesperson. After installation, our two major complaints is that the salesperson said that the upgrades would take only a couple of hours - it actually took approximately 8 hours to complete. Also, we were led to believe that the upgraded system touch pad would enable us to control the volume of the sounds that the pad makes for alerts and to control the brightness of the pad's display - neither can be done with the Safe Watch Pro 3000. We have to use a flashlight to view the display data.

    I called customer service to see if there was an alternative to the current touch pad and was told that there was another touch pad available that would cost us an additional $250.00 to install. I then asked to be transferred to customer loyalty and the person who I spoke with informed me that even though we had been an ADT customer for approximately 10 years, we were now basically considered to be a new customer with the new system so we had no customer loyalty points built up. So, we are stuck with a 3 year contract with ADT, but at the end of the contract I seriously doubt that we will renew with ADT. On a positive note, the system does work fine.

    I call to cancel the service and they never stopped the service and I just received another bill. They also told me I overpaid but refused to give me a refund for the overpayment, stating that they do not do that. So because of their mistake they will lose a customer over this. Very disappointing.

    I have not had trouble with ADT service at my home. However, I lately cannot access ADT Pulse on my iPhone. There is a mandatory software upgrade required, but I cannot get to the login page to do anything. It shows the login page for part of a second and goes back to requiring my fingerprint.     We have sold our home, moving into our RV, called ADT to advise and cancel. We've been customers for 9 years and paid faithfully. Over a year ago, a salesman told us we needed all new equipment, that our equipment was old. Our old equipment worked fine! But he convinced us it was the right thing to do. Now when cancelling the service we are told we have to pay due to this equipment and we over $800. Said if new buyers use ADT, may be reduced... I said, "You are basically threatening me that if the new owners do not want ADT service that I will be punished?" That their salesman Cade sold us equipment we didn't really need? Don't get involved with ADT! Read all the reviews online... They do this to everyone! They are happy to sign you up but they do everything they can to keep you from cancelling. It has really been a really stressful experience. We are seniors, and we do not need this stress in our lives.

    The authorized sales rep ADT sent over was nothing but a player who was into nothing but getting his commission. He lied through the sales process; promised services that he was unable to deliver. When I Reached out for solution after finding my first problem, I was told they have no solution. When I brought up the promises that were made on record; I was told, authorized reps do not have the power to promise such. But ADT is not willing to step up and honor; I am therefore left with inoperable equipment that I am expected to pay for the next 36 months. Services not delivered as promised; I am left with a contract and no services to use. I am speechless.
