    Using ADT has been easy and it's not complicated at all. I haven’t had many problems except for the app, which I have so my two brothers and I can turn the device on and off. I check on my mom when I’m not here and she’s here alone, and one of my brothers is having problems installing the app. It’s downloaded on his phone but it won’t accept his password, which is very frustrating. But I’ve been a long time user and I'm satisfied. If I would move, I would take it with me or have one installed at a new house.

    I got ADT from USAA's recommendation. Any time I call, they’re ready to answer right away. When I had an incident where a camera wasn’t working, they sent somebody over right away to check it out. Turned out, it was the internet which was messed up. They did the best they could to fix it and they hardwired it. I’m still having a problem with it but it’s because of Charter Communications which has it all screwed up. Other than that, I never had a problem with them at all and I’d recommend them to anybody.

    ADT has a good name for itself and they have excellent service. I've been with them for about 15 years and I got a sign out front in my house, so if anybody wants to try to break in here, they know we got security. It's the best security you can get. But I wish they would be able to give a little discount on upgrades to people like myself or customers for more than five years. Right now, they charge the same as they would a guy in the street. So I just stayed where I am and didn't upgrade anything.

    I used ADT's services when I lived in Burbank, California and when we moved four years ago, I would have had to pay off my contract if we couldn't have used ADT in our new house. It had a really old system, but they were able to upgrade it. Some of them are wireless because part of it is being used by the old system so that's good. I use the app to arm and disarm which is terrific. We were at a football game one time. There was a big storm and our dog broke out of the house because of the commotion. Had we not set off the alarm, we wouldn't have known it happened. We also have a sensor that's out in one door and so, until I get somebody out to fix it, it's great that I can just bypass that door. It's nice to know in this crazy world, there are still good people and companies like ADT aThey're competent, professional and reliable and I'm a happy customer.

    We've had ADT's service for over 30 years and we love it. If we had a newer house, we'd do some more things but we have an old-fashioned basic service package and we're very happy with it. I only had one problem in the last two years and a guy fixed it in five minutes. I've had lots of false alarms and their response time is very quick. Everyone from ADT is wonderful.

    I had ADT install the security system after a break-in and everything seems to be working as it should. I had an incident this last week. My electricity went off about four times during a storm. They tried to call me and the landline is also connected to the internet. So everything went off right in the middle of our call. They ended up calling the police and my daughter. They were on the ball. Since I had a break-in, I'm very careful about turning the system on each and every time I leave the house so I feel more secure. Hopefully if anyone comes to my door and sees the light on that I have security, they'll go somewhere else.

    I've got the Pulse feature in my ADT package and so far, I've been pretty satisfied with their service. But a couple of years ago, we had one of the alarms went off. I reset it and months went by, I did not call them.Then I needed them to do something, and they mentioned the fact that the alarm went off and they needed me to tell them the security word. I thought it was unusual that they waited to ask me a question about security sometime a month later. Sometimes they are not always on the ball when it comes to things. We were on vacation, and they couldn't notify us. So, they notified someone that our alarm went off, and that was really good. But sometimes, they are slow when it comes to contact. Still I would recommend them for the equipment that they have.

    I’ve had them ever since Andrew in 1993. I started out with Brink’s and ADT bought it, and it works fine. Their reps have been very nice. I only had one time when I didn’t hear the alarm go off and they called me and it worked out fine because I gave them a code and everything else. And when I needed repairs, I called them and they came and did it. If I accidentally turn the alarm on when I’m opening the door early in the morning, they call me and I tell them why, and that’s the end of it. I really like ADT. I’m going to be 89 years old and they have been very nice to me.

    Deceived, hustled outta $10,000 systems don’t work. Small home based contractor with employees that I need to monitor while unsupervised at our home. Deceived by 1st salesman into 10 cam Pulse system $4,500. Installation end of April 2017. From beginning I noticed something wasn't right. May-July we were traveling, when I finally returned and requested service I was informed that motion starts 30sec recording then all cameras go blind while uploading recording.

    Start logging time cameras were offline and discovered 5 min - 43 min through the day. Unbelievable! WTF. So anyone can throw something, video 30 sec then turns off leaving the system blind for up to 43 min. Insane! So I contacted company to switch to a CCTV NVR system (more expensive) and want pulse cameras removed and credited 10 camera system towards new system. They laughed and for months said past 3 days they couldn't do anything about it. What a joke.

    Especially since 3 days from signing but not installed for 7-10 days. Still needing security I broke down and paid another $5000 for a 8 camera NVR CCTV system that was installed 5 weeks ago and has not worked at all since the 2nd day. Service techs come out weekly and never leave with it fixed. I have now stopped payment on the second system hoping that maybe they will pull their heads out of their ** and take this ** seriously or very shortly. I see legal action in the future.

    Hello Jay- Thank you for reaching out. We are sorry if you were not fully advised of the function of our Pulse cameras, but the below information is incorrect.

    Pulse cameras will record based on the automations you have set up. Once triggered, the camera will record for up to 30 seconds. After which, it may take approximately 3-4 minutes before it is able to record another clip. This is individual to each camera. Meaning, not all of the cameras will go down just because one is recording.

    I. Am. Furious. I called to inquire about moving my service or canceling the service. The stupid rep put in that I was canceling service without telling me. My next payment came out without interruption. Fine. As expected. I chose to just keep the service on and continue paying through the end of the contract and figured that my NOT canceling or moving would mean things would move forward. Nope. Now I'm sitting with a negative balance in my account and an unplanned or unexpected $1,200 charge on my account. This had better get reversed. I want my service reinstated so I can fulfill my contract and then I will NEVER use this service again. They literally stole from me. Careful signing up with autopay.

    I have had ADT since 2006, initially, it was ok. However, as time went on, I begin having trouble with billing, in spite, of me asking them to SEND THE BILL EVERY MONTH. They had gotten to the place, they were sending it every 2 months or so. Thus, naturally, the bill was larger. I DON'T WANT THIS. Additionally, periodically, the battery would get low and I was hardly able to hear the voice stating that the door and windows were covered. This occurred when I put the alarm on. Yesterday, a technician came out because the alarm was CONSTANTLY BEEPING, WHICH INDICATED, the battery was low. He fixed it and replaced the batteries. Well, last night, the system began BEEPING AGAIN. I called them this morning and asked them if they could disconnect my service until I could have this system replaced, thus, to alleviate this constant beeping, which is extremely annoying.

    The representative was not the best, therefore, I asked to speak to a supervisor. He told me that he could walk me through it to stop the beeping. I tried to follow his instructions, but it was beginning to become a long drawn out process. When speaking to the supervisor, I asked him to disconnect this service, he said that with my password he would be unable to do it. I explained to him that I had had this service for 11 YEARS and I have never used the password and I do not know what it is. He stated that he would send it to me and I should have it within 5 days. Therefore, for the next five days, I will be compelled, to listen to this beeping, which is nothing less than being annoying.

    Since I have been with ADT, 11 years, I am entitled to a new system. (That is what the technician told me.) When I called the number, they told me I would have to have to have the password. This is nothing but a mess. I asked them, if I did not pay the bill, they would cut the system off, therefore, why can't it be disable NOW. Once this is rectified, I am going to get another company. I do not like this constant beeping, that I have no control over.

    Please be advised that cancelling your ADT services would not resolve any existing conditions with the system, nor stop the beeping. The beeping is to alert you of a potential issue with the security system. Which means the system would either have to be powered down, or the trouble resolved to stop the beeping.

    When I got ADT, two young guys came by to sell the service. I was so busy at that time making tamales so I asked the guys to explain to me the deal. They told me that it was a year and I could cancel after the year. When the time came I called to cancel but they told me it was for two years. I was upset 'cause I was lied to but went ahead and kept paying for another damn year even though I didn't use the system. Well the two yrs have come so I called to cancel and NOW they tell me it's for three years!!! That is ridiculous, they keep lying. They are a bunch of liars, all they want is to trap you!

    I have a service policy with ADT and I have this alarm system for over ten years now. I've got smoke and heat detectors, window protections as well as detection for gases.     I got the basic stuff from ADT which is enough to scare the burglars away. I haven’t had any burglaries and there was a time when my daughter was here and she forgot the code. We got a phone call and the cop came so it worked. She knows the code word now. Once in a while, I get a robo call when the alarm runs for a long time. I get the little call that says, “Your alarm went off. And then somebody that knew the code, shut it off. But just to let you know, we’re paying attention.”

    Everything has been satisfactory with ADT's customer service. There was a time when my sign got damaged and I didn’t do anything about it. One day, a new sign appeared. Somebody from ADT must have seen it and they replaced it. I was surprised pleasantly. My sign got damaged again so maybe they’ll do it again. This will be a test. I’ll give them a couple of weeks and see whether they notice. They can still read it. The ADT is still there, it’s just got a bite out of it.

    I just called ADT today (Oct 18th 2017) and requested to cancel my account (account number **) as I'm moving to a better option for home security. I am not in contract anymore and they stated it would take 30 days to cancel (Nov 17th 2017). I said fine. My major issue is that I requested some form of written confirmation (email or mail) now. The operator said no. I asked if I can record conversation for my records and she said no. I messaged ADT on the website and it states they will call me back.

    I reached out to chat and they said I have to call. This whole system is set up to not provide me any written confirmation that I requested this to be cancelled. I basically have to rely on ADT keeping their word and there are numerous reports of this not being the case. I am extremely concerned that ADT will try to illegally continue to bill me. Please note I've taken screenshots of all messages and chats and will email them to myself today to establish a timeline.

    I really don't know how they got such a high score on this website. I was doing home remodeling when the system was disconnected. For more than two weeks, nobody at ADT ever contacted me. That is exactly when I know for sure that it doesn't work. I called them, cancelled the service and explained to them the reason. Since my cancellation, they constantly call me and my wife over and over again, trying to get me back, no matter how clearly I told them that I no longer want their "service". It is so bothersome that I had to block their phone number eventually. Such a scam and I swear to God I almost wanted to sue them!

    We have located the account and see that since September 1st, ADT has attempted to notify you regarding failed signals. I also see that power loss and a low battery were received at the end of July and beginning of August. Notification was attempted on those signals as well.

    Alarm response does not occur on non-emergency signals, this is true, but ADT did attempt to notify you of the trouble we experienced with your system. At the point of notification, the customer is ultimately responsible for taking action to resolve. Whether requesting service, if necessary, or addressing themselves, if possible.

    I had ADT in my home for a long time and then I let it drop and then my husband and I decided we needed it again. So, we just had it reactivated. I like the fact that no one can get in your house without you hearing the alarm for the doors. If I accidentally leave a door open and somebody comes to my house they can open the door but the door will alarm me that somebody is coming in my house.

    I was at one of my friend's house here recently. I took some things to her home and she wanted me to put it inside her house. So, she unlocked the door from where she was so that I could sit it inside the house. And when I close the door, she was able to lock her house back up. I thought that was really unique that she could actually unlock her house from where she was, let me in and then after I came out she could lock it back. She was using a cellphone application for her ADT system. I'm going to call to see if I can find out about that feature. I haven't really had a chance to but I would like to put that on my cell phone as well. ADT is working well. If you really want a good home protection system, you should try ADT. You would be very happy with it.

    I've had ADT since 2013, and I have one motion detector, glass-breaks, window and door chimes, and keypad upstairs and downstairs. Whenever we had a problem with our system, if it accidentally went out or if we’ve accidentally opened the door and ADT's reps called, they've understood that it was just a bad call. They've been very helpful. I also had ADT put in both of my sons' houses, but they have since moved so it is inactive right now. And as a matter of fact, we had a break in on one of them while one of my sons was in Afghanistan and the alarm scared them off. I would recommend ADT over any of the others.

    I’ve always had ADT and I’ve had them so long that they're on my house number five. They are the number one security system in the world and their reputation has been nothing but satisfactory. Every time I move to a new house, they've added new things so I'd add them all to my coverage. When I started, we didn’t have cameras, touchpads, and I had to turn the alarm on and off with a key. Now, I have all including motion detectors, cameras, and the alarm if someone breaks a window. I’ve had the most interaction with the house team and five different representatives and I’m very pleased. The installers have also been wonderful. For the few times that I’ve had a problem, they came right out Johnny-on-the-spot and I didn’t have to wait long. In fact, they come every five years and replace all the batteries in my house since I’m 74 years old. I highly recommend them.

    We needed a security system for the house with a recent rash of break ins a shooting. I called and got the ADT system installed within hours. Not even 5 weeks later the system goes down. I call and try to get someone scheduled to come out and fix it and they tell me it will be at least a week. That is unacceptable to not be covered that long. Very disappointed with effort of trying to get this fixed. But if you want a new system they will be there the same day!!!

    For the month of September I was overbilled on my standard monthly charge. This has happened before. I called ADT, and was told that the overbilled amount would be deducted in October.     We have two door alarms and three motion detectors from ADT, as well as cell phone linked to the phone system. The installation team came in three years ago and upgraded the system we had. They changed the cell phone unit and some electronics. Their reps were helpful. We did call them about the remote because the batteries were running low and we weren't sure what we needed to do. They sent us a battery but it's a wrong type. And then, they sent us a larger battery for a different model of the remotes. We've called them a couple of times just to find out some basic information. When we have problems, we get good answer. When we needed information, they give us information. So, everything's working fine.

    I’m well-satisfied with ADT's service. I had something went wrong with the ADT system and we had a power outage, so I could not get into my camera to look at it. When I called ADT, they sent a technician out. And when he told me it was a $25 charge for him coming out, I was stunned because no one had ever said a word to me about it before. I told him I'd call ADT and find out about it, and I have not heard another word. I have my payments automatically withdrawn from my checking account each month. And so, they may have taken it out of my account like that. But when you pay what you pay each month for the service and you really don’t call them out often, they shouldn't charge you for it.

    But other than that, the security is good. Garnett had his remote and his key in his pocket and when he sat down on the couch, he accidentally set the panic button off. And I was on my way to take my sister to a doctor’s appointment, and ADT called but they didn’t get an answer at the home phone. So, they called me on my cell phone and I told them Garnett was home and I would call him. So, I did and he told me, but the police officer showed up too. So, they were right on the ball, and I would recommend them.

    Just got a call from Protect Your Home requesting payment for a "permit fee" of $31.70. I cannot believe they try and collect this after having the system for nearly 2 months. I told the agent to send me a letter explaining why this additional charge is just now being added. The first tech installed a wireless system and neglected to tell me the monthly charge was almost double for the system I asked to be installed. This is not a good reputation for ADT for the unhappy customers to deal with. If this continues I will cancel my service within the 3 month period. Be warned, this company will try and rip you off if you don't stand up for yourself.

    We set our alarm and left our home for a provisions run - somehow we left the door cracked open. ADT was quick to call us, but because I didn't recognize their number I didn't answer the call. ADT then called my backup number (a friend), and my friend immediately called me. I called ADT, they canceled the police alert, I returned home and closed my door. Easy as pie! My only recommendation for ADT is to make your number known rather than having it appear as "Unknown Caller" on the phone's screen (and I have ADT saved as a contact). Regardless, thank you ADT for actually doing what you advertise. Kudos!

    I was tricked into believing I was safe! My alarm has went off numerous times and I never got a call! ADT claims it takes 20 seconds for them to be contacted! What is the point of that! If a burglar comes in when I am home with a gun and forces me to shut my alarm off I will be dead! If I try to trick them and put the wrong code in nothing will happen besides my alarm going off! This is insane! I was told the second it goes off I would get a call. That was the reason for me upgrading and pays $60 a month for a key fob! I want my money back and I was to cancel my service! This is terrible. I feel more unsafe now than ever. I lose all of this money and don't feel protected! I don't even have cameras or sensors in my second floor! I can't believe how terrible these people are. I should just leave my doors open!

    Amber- I understand that you have some concerns regarding ADT’s procedures in why you are not called or you received a recorded message if the alarm is tripped and you enter your code to disarm your system. If you accidentally set off your alarm and enter your code to disarm the system, you may or may not be notified.

    To further explain this, on a burglar alarm the signal will transmit 30 seconds after the siren activates. On fire/carbon monoxide/medical/or any type of life safety device the signal transmits upon activation of the siren. Once the alarm signal is received in the monitoring center, the agent will start notification procedures of the signal.     ADT was already in my house when I bought it, and they impressed me. The time that impressed me the most is when my girls were at home. We were out watching a movie. I got a call from ADT and they want to check the systems when I got back. When I got back, my daughter and I were in the hallway, but her friend and the dog were running in the living room. They said, "Get the little girl and the dog out of the living room, so we can finish these measurements." That was pretty cool. I like that it’s not connected to the wires and it automatically can call the police or the fire department. Once every few years they would contact me about checking the systems or they will notify me that something was wrong with the system, then I get that fixed. They’re always on top of it. The team from ADT is professional or I wouldn't have stayed with them.

    Long story short I was lied and trick to get service. The move package came with a free camera. The tech explained to me it would cost 299 to install plus the 107 I had already paid so I told him that was okay. I didn't have over 300 to spend at that time. The tech left then came back and said that his manager wanted to speak with me on the phone. The manager basically told me to get the service and he would send the 300 in visa to cover the upgrade and that I would get the original 100 visa. The tech installed the service and I asked when will I get gift card to upgrade because the service I have is not what I wanted. He then said his manager was in a meeting and will get in contact with me which I still haven't heard from. The rep and tech failed to mention they would charge my card another 100 for advance service now I'm out of 200 dollars and stuck with a service I hate. I would not recommend ADT.

    I've used ADT in several homes over the years. I got the keypad, then there are smoke and fire detectors. Plus, it automatically dials in if something happens.     We have been using ADT for over 25 years. It's the only system that we knew at that time. So far, we have no complaints. It's been fine over the years. We kept them this whole time because the system always works. Even when I accidentally set it off, they call immediately. We tried to have it upgraded. Now, we have the cordless and it's not that cheap. We also had the system redone when we put in the impact windows.

    We paid for it and it's fine. As for the ADT team, they have come to our house to make upgrades. I have no problems with them. All in all, when you have a company for 25 years and you can't complain about them, that's a good thing. I had an excellent experience. And even though I'm not going to spend another $1,000 to have the whole house rewired again, I just wish they wouldn't keep going up on the bills.

    We’ve been having some serious issues with ADT. I have an iPad that I can do the Pulse. We have made sure that everything is current, have updated stuff, have rebooted and have done everything possible with the app. But when we pull the ADT pulse app and sign in, it crashes. They’re saying they’re working on a fix for it. They’re obviously aware of our problem.

    I actually talked to somebody from the IT department yesterday and they said that iPhone 6's and above seem to be having a problem after that update. Now, we were in Australia, September 18th and that thing came out. We had not been able to use the app even to check stuff back here at home from there. It hasn’t worked since. It’ll open up for a couple of seconds. Every once in a while, it’ll pull up the camera for a second and then, boom, it crashes again. They’ve had other people also with the same problem. But there’s no ETA.

    ADT is a huge conglomerate. This is an emergency because we’re all paying for an app and have not been able to use it since the update. They should’ve shot out another update right away. But other than that, they're very good. ADT is wonderful and I would definitely recommend them to a friend. I’ve been with them since the early 90's and the customer service is excellent. It’s just that their IT department obviously needs to be up on updates. You’re talking probably millions of people in the country that have iPhones that have this app is rendered useless.

    Nation's best Home Security service provider (Supposedly), are just a another company waiting to CON YOU!! Yes, you read it right CON/RIP-OFF/STEAL. Oct 2, 2017: I contacted the ADT Sales center responding to a online campaign for $27.99 with free equipment etc. After spending almost an hour on the phone with Tanner ** (EmpCode: **) and speaking to his Sales Manager Bill ** (Emp Code:**) to get the appointment for the next day. I was sold the services for $27.99.

    Oct 3, 2017: After waiting for hours taking a day off from work, wasted my entire day waiting for installation guy to show up. After calling twice I was told the appointment is for Oct 4th and I was given apologies and additional equipment credit of $485 (Happy Me, not knowing what is waiting for me the next day). Oct 4, 2017: The Installation guy (Javier **) comes on time, and before you can say anything or he could explain anything he drilled a hole into the wall and connected a system. After which he starts to explain to the plan and the equipment details. Dah! Aren't you suppose to explain first and then touch others property??? After negotiating for minutes he comes up with equipment worth $4500 as suggested plan for protecting my home... No Doubt!!

    Then comes the favorite part!! After installation is complete Signing the contract. I wanted put my own signature and NOT ADOPT & SIGN from the Useless Docu Sign. The Installation Guy says the systems is not allowing him to change the settings and all I did was ONE CLICK and it was all complete. ONLY LATER TO REALIZE THAT MY MONTHLY WILL BE $52.99 and not $27.99 as promised by sales. The Catch is Neither the sales guys nor the Installation Guy told me about a Hard Wired system is $27.99 and Wireless (Cellular) Based service is $52.99.

    Now I am stuck for 24 Months contract for $52.99 with no option to cancel (3 days cancellation period, YOU MUST BE KIDDING RIGHT) and had to pay additional $1500 for equipment. $106.98 Installation, $100.68 Pro-Rated Monthly for 2 months, $1510.00 Additional Equipment. Hours and months of frustration!! A Total Colossal Loss and Rip-Off by ADT. PLEASE Research before buying from ADT!! They are the WORST.

    After recently experiencing a burglary in our home while we slept, I was fearful it would happen again. I immediately decided upon ADT Security Services. The representative who called me to set up our installation appointment was very kind and understanding, listening to the details of our break in. The installer, who arrived, also very cordial and professional, explained all of our options, answering many questions I had, and allowing my husband and I to choose the level of service we wanted, without feeling any high pressure sales.

    After the installation, he explained how to operate our new security system and although we were given the opportunity to not have the system activated immediately, so we could become familiar with it, we chose to have our service active later that evening, out of fear of whoever broke into our home, might return. We did have a malfunction in an outside entrance to a cellar, in our 1860 built home, several days later, and a technician came back to change the sensor to a different one.

    Due to the entrance being a heavy metal door, the first sensor was malfunctioning. After changing it, it is working fine now. Before being serviced for the malfunction, I did have to call a tech rep to bypass the malfunctioning cellar door, and they were able to quickly tell me how to do so. We are extremely pleased with our entire experience with ADT and its employees and are finally feeling safe again! Thank you so much!

    We've had several properties and we've always used ADT. We live up on the mountaintop so we don't have all the service that we would really like. We have traditional home security services but because of the technology up here we can't turn our lights off and on, and we can't check our security from a distance if we go someplace. We have to rely on them to call us if there's a problem. The sales rep was really very nice. He told us what our options were and he also told us what the limits were for ADT given where we're located. We knew that we had to get some kind of service so, we didn't really discuss the budget too much. But he's very pleasant and he went through all of the options that ADT had and then came back when they did the installation.

    The installation team was good. They did have some problems with getting things set up and wired right so we did have to have them come out a couple of times after the installation. For the most part, they came on the date that they were supposed to and they were on time. It's difficult here because there's no phone service about 12 miles from here. So, we always expect people to be late because they either pass us up or they don't go far enough and they can't find us right on the boondocks.

    So far, we're satisfied with the service. We've been here for five years plus the fact that we've had it in our other home as well. The service is very good and reliable. If we're far away, it never fails that the alarm goes off and since we're located in a place where it's not easy for people to get to check on things for us, that's always a bit stressing. We really would like a capability to check on things through the Cloud. But that's not their fault, that's just where we are with the technology in the broadband here where we're located. Nonetheless, I would recommend them to a friend.

    I had called ADT directly and rescheduled my original Oct. 6th appointment because of a work conflict and moved it to Oct. 9th. No service tech showed up today so I called. Customer service said it was cancelled but no notes from their side on why. I got no communication it was cancelled and I took off work and cancelled meetings specifically for this. How does their CRM platform not allow notes on why the service appointment was cancelled. Terrible customer service.

    We recently moved and wanted to install a system in the new place. We've been longtime customers as our old home had your system for 25 yrs. The installer was not the best. He acted put out that he needed to get under the house to work and did a rushed job. Shortly after, our system started beeping so had to have a tech come over to troubleshoot. He checked it out, said it was working correctly and 45 min. later left. Within 24 hrs keypad was beeping again! So basically we weren't able to use the system. So you sent out another tech. His name is Steve ** and what a blessing! Wish you would've sent him 1st time. He took the time to dig deep and figure out the problem! He was here couple hours but ended up replacing most of what the installer did and corrected the problem. We now finally have a functioning system and haven't had any problems since. Maybe that installer needs a refresher course?

    I have called in and terminated services. They said they would mail the final bill at 75% of the remaining. Instead they continue to bill monthly. I called again and disputed with credit card company to stop it. They put me on a robot dialer for the billing department. I answered the call and explained again! The 3rd time that they need to mail me the bill. They never sent the final bill and continue to robot dial me. Stop harassing me due to your failure to listen! I will not pay you now that you've harassed me and refuse to turn off the monthly and send the final bill.

    ADT has a real dud for me. I've had ADT for 3 of my homes, and honestly, they have been awful. The only reason I ended up having them in my last house was that I had Brink's who was great, but they were unfortunately bought out by ADT. In the last 2 weeks I've had to have service people out for various problems with my alarm. Right now they are telling me my alarm isn't communicating with them. Of course they don't seem to care that in the meantime you are without any protection for your house. They are just the most frustrating company I've ever dealt with. Even Comcast is better!

    I put ADT's alarm system in when I bought the house. When I signed up, I was just really happy with all the people I've worked with. Even though I got the system in free, I did spend extra money to do things that I needed to be done. I like that it's just easy for me to operate. Up until about four weeks ago, my contact with anybody I dealt with has been great. But this last month, I'm a really unhappy customer.

    I've been experiencing some problems with the alarm system. It started six weeks ago. It appeared to have been a problem with my patio door and they'd indicated that I needed to change the battery in it. That was fine. They sent me a battery and I changed it. However, I was still having problems and it was all related to the patio door for some reason, even after putting the new battery in. I then went into ADT, talked to somebody, and they helped me bypass that patio door so I could still leave the house and lock everything up. But I continue to have problems.

    About three weeks ago, I called ADT again and they set-up an appointment for me. My appointment was two weeks ago from 12:00 to 5:00 pm. I sat home all day and I made sure I was here before 12:00. I was here by 11:00 am and at 5:00 pm, nobody showed up. I waited until 5:30 pm, then I called ADT back, and they could not even get a hold of the technician.

    I am sitting at home again from 12:00 to 5:00 pm for another appointment. My alarm went off in the middle of the night and again it had to do with the patio door. I've also got some other issues now with the alarm system. It's not displaying anything and all I get is a bunch of bars. Also, I didn't realize that I had a maintenance contract until all this started, and I've never asked ADT to come to my house at all. I am of the age that I do not get up on ladders anymore and I've got smoke detectors that they put in. That was one of the reasons for the service calls, so they could get up there and check all that. It's been a nightmare. I don't even know who I talked to at this point, but I told them that when I'm through, I'm going to find an address for their corporate headquarters and I'm going to write a letter. They probably won't read but I feel that this is not the type of service that a customer should be given.

    I was in business for 25 years, and if I had done this to one of my customers, I would not have that customer. If the technician cannot make an appointment, they owe me the courtesy of a phone call at least. When I talked to them to reschedule, I said that whoever was the technician that was originally set-up to come to my house, I don't want them in my house. They said their supervisor was going to call me and give me some kind of compensation, but I never got that phone call.

    Another representative that I talked to when I was trying to bypass my door got it all messed up. She said she needed to talk to her supervisors. She came back and she told me somebody would call me back. I told her I'm only going to be there till 11:00. Nobody called and when I came home that afternoon and I still did not get a call from ADT. I'm almost at the point that if I didn't have to start all over, I would take ADT out and go to another company.

    I called ADT to set up an install and was told that there would be an initial fee of $104. I was okay with that. Then I learned that they contract out an Authorized Dealer. Okay. I was okay with this up to this point. The company is called Defender. Let me tell you, the RUDEST customer service and experience ever. The gentleman came and before he even sat down to tell me what I would need, he started uninstalling the old keypad I had in the house (I recently purchased this home). He then walked around the house and told me I would need at least $6,000 worth of equipment. I laughed. The dog laughed and we all looked at him and he said he would see what he could do. He came back and said it would be $1,600. Mind you, the initial ADT rep said he is also giving me $650 in equipment credit. I told the installer this and he said that's including the credit.

    Long story short, I said ok. Then he couldn't finish the install because I needed a stronger antennae for the keypad and he would have to come back. He left me with a big hole on the wall in my foyer entrance. I called Defender the next day and told them I was displeased and would like to cancel (I had 3 days). They said that they would give me a credit on the equipment of $855. I was like okay. Today I noticed that ADT charged my credit card $110 for 2 months of Pulse services that I do not have because I don't even have a Pulse keypad yet! They were no help and said that Defender billed it like that.

    I called Defender back and they said it’s ADT. While we were on the phone I asked about my $855 credit. The lady said, “Oh, I see where there was an email sent, but it's not a guarantee that you will get that.” I told her, “Fine. Then I'll just cancel.” She was like, “Well. Okay, bye.” So, guess what I'll be doing tomorrow... I have until midnight to cancel this contract... PLEASE DO NOT DEAL WITH THIS COMPANY... If I am going to pay thousands for a 36 months of service contract... I WANT CUSTOMER SERVICE.

    I’ve been a customer of ADT for about eight years now. I’m happy with the system I got but the fee for the monitoring is a lot higher than other services. I’ve got a friend that’s got a service about two houses away and she only pays $26 a month and she’s got cameras on it and all kinds of monitors. She’s even got a door that if they walk up to it, the door takes a picture of them. Her monitoring fee stays at $26 a month but every year or two with ADT, I get a letter that says that they’re going to raise it to a certain percentage and I’ve got to call and get them to keep it where it is. She’s got the James Alarm and even though it would cost me about $1,200 to initiate the service, I’ve debated on getting it for a long time because I can get a lot more.

    It’s sad that when I tried to upgrade my system here with ADT, they told me that because I had satellite, they weren’t able to operate my system and that they couldn’t upgrade it. My friend has the same satellite like mine and James Alarm was able to give her all kinds of stuff. She’s got everything, like cameras on the outside and at different angles around. ADT didn’t want to have anything to do with it and we’re paying $37.44 a month that I’m always having the battle to get them to keep it at that. If I didn’t have so many other things I’m trying to do, I probably would’ve gone ahead with the other alarm system by now and done it. ADT does their job, but I can have a service that’s as good with someone else and not pay as much.

    With technology changing rapidly, I would think that ADT would be informing clients of what new technology is available from ADT that clients might want to consider.     About once a month, I get a trouble light on my panel. It is caused whenever we have a thunderstorm and the phone gets cut off for a second. I call ADT and they do a test, which of course, sounds the siren and makes the neighbors think I'm being invaded. But ADT is always very nice about it and they solve the problem and the trouble light goes off. I wish the system were not that sensitive, however.

    We have been members of ADT since 1992 and would not change. The system failed once in 25 years and was upgraded for a minimal fee. Their monitoring and reporting of intrusions is as specified. Great service. They have grandfathered my rate, so we are currently under their quoted fees.     My local rep is Ali from Millennium Alarm Systems and is ALWAYS available. Our installation tech is Zeke - seriously who knows their installer on a first name basis? I recently moved and the process was smooth as butter! I had to call into the 800 number and the woman there was impeccable with her service and information and made sure I was 100% clear on everything. I would and do recommend ADT and Millennium to whomever I speak to - I have other alarm companies trying to tempt me with referral fees (I am a real estate agent) monthly. I tell all of them that I am all set and there's no way you could get me to switch providers or recommend to my clients anyone else.

    We were coming up to the end of our three year contract on our townhome when we sold and bought a much larger family home. When we called to transfer our existing service, with a few added window sensors at the recommendation of the ADT phone sales rep, ADT sent out an interesting character to install our new system, who smelled a bit strange, but was very friendly.

    At the end of the long 4- to 5-hour installation process, the installation guy handed me a contract for a 3 year renewal, saying please sign this, your wife has already signed one. I called my wife to ask if this was true, and sure enough it turned out that the "transfer" paperwork she was told she was signing was a 3 year renewal contract, which was not discussed on the phone with her. The installation agent explained to me that I had 72 hours to decide that their services were not for me, so I went along with my wife and signed the contract.

    I realize the onus here on my wife is to read a contract thoroughly, but I still can't help but feel like we were getting worked over by ADT in a sneaky, deceitful, slightly obtrusive manner. Our plan was to let the contract play out (to exit a contract requires you pay 80% of the remainder as penalty) and handle our security privately, not that that even matters. There was a complete lack of honesty in the situation, and when my wife called to confront the phone agent, she was pitched another contract.

    We cancelled during our 72 hour trial period of the new system. That was two weeks ago. The ADT equipment remains at the house, with no refund of the initial installation and contract fee (minus, of course, their cancellation fee from the previous contract which would have been "forgiven" with the new contract). The whole process has been a nightmare, and I can't wait till it's over.
