    Recently I switch my service with this co. because of my dissatisfaction with their service and prices going up at least 3 times a year. Also after I called them on the phone to have the service disconnected, and was told I DID NOT OWED them anything. They just sent me a bill for another $55+ dollars, claiming that their contract stipulates that you have to tell them 30 days in advance! 30 days in advance for the alarm going off and no one calling you on the phone to see if you are OK.

    I have ADT for about 8 years now, any issues they will care with such professionalism, but about a month ago my system had a malfunction and my alarm went off while I was at work. I had a work order schedule, and they knew about it. Alarm went off and one of the representative sent out the Fayetteville NC police department out. I was charge 75.00 total, they said I authorize this. No I did not, and now I am out of my budget, because I have to make payment for something I DID NOT AUTHORIZE!!!

    We’ve had ADT for a long, long time. I started out with a different company and ADT took over. I’ve got a very basic package and I also have a button I can wear if I’m alone which I can just press to get help. So far, I’ve been really happy with them. There were a couple of times when I really messed up and I forgot to turn the alarm off going outside and so, I had to get in. Their reps responded right away, which was impressive. They were always very nice and very helpful. When ADT took over, their installation team came in and checked the system to make sure it was okay. They said it was and they’ve been good.

    We've become more and more aware that our society isn't taking care of its people very well anymore and wish to do it less and less. Because of that, we knew that because we don’t care for each other that some of us are going to fall by the wayside and become thieves. That’s normal and there’s no surprise there. It's not because they’re good or bad people, it’s because they’re trying to survive. We're sad about that, but we work hard for what we have, too. So, we got a protection system in the house. We originally had Platinum Protection and they were bought out by ADT. The switch over was seamless and their service has always been good.

    We like the online way that we could go and test the system now. We also ended up adding on some more motion sensors about three months ago. Before, somebody could get in one of our corner rooms easily, but now they couldn't get in. That felt good and we’ve been using those sensors a lot more recently. But when we put it on the “away”, then we sleep upstairs where there are no motion detectors, the system takes about a minute of this beep, beep, beep, before it finally sets and I'd like to shorten that time. I’m sure it can be adjusted. I just haven’t bothered them to do that.

    Also, one time, we put a motion sensor in our dining room but at that time we didn’t have a gas insert in our fireplace yet. We had it for a month or so there, then when we put the gas insert on, that gas insert would activate the motion sensor when we would leave. When it got to winter and we kept the gas insert running since it’s a nice way to heat the house, we came home and the police were here. That happened three times now and I felt so bad. I ended up taking the sensor out of that room and moving it into another place. It solved the problem and it’s still covering the area sufficiently. It was a very easy fix once I decided to go ahead with it. However, I was a little surprised that that technology had that little glitch in it.

    So far, every time I've had service from ADT's team, they have been pretty quick and I haven’t had to wait long on the telephone. But when I was going to get motion sensors and I was deciding where ultimately they would be placed when the guy got here, I talked to a woman and she was not only unclear about exactly how they work, she was incorrect as well and I don’t think she understood about motion detectors. ADT should lock down exactly how their sensors work and get a real understanding of that to their people so that they know how to explain that to somebody in a good and clear language because that really matters where people put them in case there’s a problem with things like a fireplace.

    For instance, I wanted to put a motion sensor out in this area where we have a whole bunch of windows. I thought since it’s a motion detector, if some person would walk outside the window, that would activate it. When I asked ADT's reps about that, they said that could happen. But I looked it up and I found out that it couldn't happen. So they gave me the wrong information and they didn’t know the correct answer so they made something up.

    Another interesting thing that happened was when the guy was here installing the motion detectors, I asked him why our monthly payment went from $39 to $50 something. He asked if we have cameras and when we said we didn't, he said that that amount was not correct. So, I went in and called ADT about it. They came through on that and gave us a $400-credit for all the overcharging. It turned out that they had been overcharging us for a year and a half but that was no hassle. It was just an oversight in the accounting and they got it adjusted accordingly. It’s a very honest kind of business and I love ADT for that.

    Other than those scenarios, we feel safe having the security system and we have the peace of mind that when we have that on and we're upstairs, if something goes on, we won’t be in the middle of our sleep when it happens. We'll be woken up and I’m amazed how much that matters. Also, all told, in the entire time we’ve had the system, there’s been four false alarms as it were and those were all our fault. So they weren’t any fault of the technology.

    I JUST had my install a week ago. I have had to call tech support 3 times. There is obviously an issue. I told ADT I want to cancel this agreement. I am not happy with their product. They have hung up on me 3 times. I asked for a supervisor - I was told THEY do not take calls. They only chat with the operators. I asked for a corporate phone number. They gave me a fax number. She said corporate "does not take calls". SERIOUSLY? DO NOT GIVE THEM A PENNY OF YOUR MONEY. I am on hold with American Express as I paid for a year in advance. I will dispute this charge. I am writing to the BBB today and the Attorney General and I will be calling my local news station. DO NOT PURCHASE ADT.

    The ADT scam. Avoid it at all costs. The ADT saga continues. Please note that the condo I bought already had a system. When I called them I asked them to reactivate it and add a couple of components. I had a keypad already but it was not in a desirable location. I asked for a second keypad, another motion sensor, and a couple of additional window sensors. When the rep talked to me on the phone they promised me $1072 in free equipment, a 100.00 gift card, state of the art equipment, professionally installed, and walked thru an order that met my requirements.

    I ended up with a siren and light that is attached to the eave outside of the front porch of my condo (a location we can't legally use), a front door sensor stuck below the one that was already there (looks really bad), a motion detector somewhere (although I don't know which one is active since all the old equipment is still here), a couple of glass break sensors, and nothing on the windows or the slider. The reps all told me about the "state of the art” sensors they could use that would detect anyone trying to break the glass but the installer told me he could not use them unless I wanted to put something in the bottom of the slider to stop it from opening. He was afraid the door would hit the sensor and set it off. My second keypad is sitting on the floor.

    The gift card. Another deceptive piece. I wondered about it so I went back thru the documents they sent me when they did the install. Keep in mind that they use DocuSign so there are no hard copy docs. Page five of the file talks about the gift card. To get it you have to go to a link, the link has you print a piece of paper that you have to fill out, and mail in. You have to include a copy of the agreement and send them a MONEY ORDER OR CASHIER’S CHECK to cover shipping and handling. If you don't send it within 30 days the offer is void. This is like something out of a bad movie.

    My daughter worked with someone who installed part-time for ADT. I got ADT's motion sensors for the doors, the fire protection, and I have the chain that I can wear around my neck. Installation was fine and somebody had to come at night. He was here for a long time and he was very pleasant. Everything worked fine afterwards. From time to time, I have a battery that goes out and I call the representatives. And if the battery is the one that I can put in, I order it.     My home was robbed in broad daylight while I was at work, so I wanted to invest in a security package. My interactions with the sales rep at ADT were wonderful. When I called, she explained to me all the different things that I could get and I picked the ones that I wanted. She was very professional and she did a great job. I got a service package that includes an in-house motion detector and devices on my front door, back door, and the door that leads into my garage.

    In contrast, the installer complained that ADT should have sent a guy from around here instead of sending him from Charleston. Also, he didn't explain the motion detector to me and I just read about it in the book later on. I gave him a check like they told me to do. But he never turned the check in at the ADT office because they kept saying that I owed them money. That was almost four years ago, but that check has never been cashed. I just figured that the installer had come late and he was tired, and he wanted to go home.

    On the other hand, the customer service reps have been good. I called ADT last December to cancel my service because I had retired and I wasn't getting my money right away, and I was afraid that I couldn't afford the service. But the rep put me on hold, then she came back and they lowered the price, so I kept the service. The other day, I forgot to turn the alarm off when I left the house to go to the store. When I came back, ADT had called and a police officer had come to my home. I told the rep to cancel the alarm, but she said that they had already been here and all the doors were locked, but that was my fault.

There have been many occasions when I've called, especially when we were first getting the cameras hooked up, and I have been absolutely impressed by how courteous and talented they are.     Our alarm went off in the middle of the night but the alarm didn't go off in the house. What woke us up was a policeman knocking at her door asking if everything was okay and that they got a call saying there was a break-in. We went outside and looked. There was no sign of any activity. So I called ADT. They did a test and realize a door sensor was the problem. It sent out a silent alarm. On the next day they set a repairman out and fixed it.     We had an ADT system in Georgia that we never used because it was so complicated and it had different areas and different sections and we never could figure out how to use it. And then, we moved to San Antonio in this little, tiny house and a lot more people around. We’ve always heard ADT was a great company so we thought, we would go ahead and get it installed. I did some digging around to see how complicated it would be and found out that it wasn’t very complicated at all. So, we got it put in. ADT to me has always been the first name in home security. In my mind, ADT is the safest home security system you can get. I got the one where if they break the glass, the sensors on the doors go off, as well as the keychains that we can turn on and off from outside the house. But we don’t use those. We just got a simple system.

    So far I'm very satisfied with them. They only thing that I’m not satisfied with was when we had the system put in two years ago and there’s a lot of confusion. We paid $8000 to have the sensors put in and a couple of smoke alarms. And then a week later, the ADT guys showed up at the door and said, “Oh, you went with an outside company or something.” And we had no idea. We thought ADT was ADT and you order it, and they come and do it for you, and it’s everybody’s same set price. Apparently, there are independent contractors that can just gouge the daylight out of you and we had no clue. I suggest that they let people know through their advertising what exact number to call to get the best deal.

    I thought I was talking to a real ADT person. But maybe I was talking to an independent contractor and the operator happened to be in charge of the ADT department of the independent contractor. Nonetheless, the system is easy to use. One time there were two coyotes trying to kill themselves on my back porch and they kept crashing into the sliding glass door which triggered the alarm. It’s four o’clock in the morning and I’m thinking, “Okay. The alarm pad is all the way out in the front office. I’m in my bedroom. What do I do?” So I called ADT, have them come out, and they gave me a bedside keypad. They came out right away and their rep answered all my questions. And then, I had a problem with it or I thought I did, and he came right back out. So, I’m very pleased with ADT.

    Their reps gave me the ADT brochure and I called them. And they tell me, “Well, you’re not in our system.” And a lot of confusion between whose system was I in and why wasn’t I in their system? I called the 1800 number and they’re like “Oh, yeah. We have you.” And then I called the one in the brochure and it’s like, “Well, we don’t have you.” The whole experience wasn’t great but we got it ironed out and we’re good.

    I am a senior citizen living alone. I am active but many times the fact of a senior woman living alone leads to unwanted situations. Just recently someone that criminally trespassed on my property was apprehended because the officer recognized the man as a repeat offender. Because I had installed your cameras and they gave an accurate picture of him climbing my six foot fence: in order to access my bathroom window that was sometimes left a little ajar. They caught him less than two hours later.

    That was not the only incident. A little girls bike was stolen in broad daylight. Because of my street cameras from ADT, the older boy was identified by the shoes he wore. The bike was returned! Recently a car was broken into. The ADT... cameras were able to provide a description of the suspect that could have never been obtained at that late hour. I was able to find the appropriate footage because the previous week an ADT representative came to my home to demonstrate the workings of the cameras.

My security system is the heartbeat of my house. {mine too} Everyone I have spoken to on the phone, your outdoor field representatives, those that install and check systems have always.been professional in every situation. He had superior insight in his area of expertise and explained everything in terms we could understand. He made us aware of other items offered by ADT that would be of interest to us, and they were!     I called to see if I could get rid of my land line and use ADT cell phone instead. After a lengthy discussion [rep was good] I was given the following options. 1. A device could be put on the system I have now for $173.40. 2. Put an upgraded system with the device I need for $133.66. Well, that's a no brainer however, I was told that because my system was Brinks it should be upgraded. You know the story, Brinks, to Broadway, to ADT. I saw an ad in the Sunday paper saying you would install a new system worth $850.00 if I was a new user.

    Because I have been with these companies, including yours since 2006 it seems I should get a either option one or two for nothing also. YES I know it's for new customers but If there is a contract, like two years, for people who are new to ADT for the system, I will sign it. I think you can see were faithful, even after two company changes.

    I called to check on the ADT system for my mother's home. I explained to the gentleman on the phone that my mother was in her late 80's and not in good health. I explained to him that she was living in the home by herself and I wanted to make her feel safe and get ADT, which I had thought was the best. I went on to explain to him that I wanted to pay for this and have it installed in my mother's home. He said "no problem I could do that." He also explained that if my mother passed away during the 3 year contract, I would not be held in the contract. I said that is fine, I went ahead and paid and scheduled the installation.

    I had no idea that it would not be ADT service doing this installation, instead it was a service working under ADT. The guy came out, starting the installation and he said to me and my husband that I should make sure and call back the next day to have my mother's name added to the contract in case she passes away. He had noticed that my mother was ill.

    So, the next day I called the number he told me to call and it was a nightmare. The lady was very rude, told me that I could not do that and that the only way I could get my mother's name on it was to cancel the service and have her to get the service. I explained to her that my mom was not able to do that and that the installer told me that it was no problem putting her name on the contract. I finally had to ask to speak to her supervisor, she put me on hold for a few minutes and then came back on, told me they was busy and she hung the phone up. I then called the first number I called to start this process and I have not had any satisfaction. I was promised that I could do that and was promised that they would email me the form to do that and no form was ever sent.

    I called again and talked to someone in accounts and they told me that there was no way I could do this because of ADT did not install this service. It was a contractor that works under ADT and that is not their policy. So, I am locked into a contract for three years. I pray that my mother lives another three years, but again she is very ill. I should have been told that a contract company would be installing this and I should have been told upfront that I was the one locked into the contract. Very bad human relations. I will not recommend ADT to anyone for this reason.

    ADT is always right there when you need them. We have been a member for many years now, and our alarm panel has not been working up to par lately. ADT needs to improve on the continuous beeping 24 hours a day to remind their customers that the battery is low. It takes way too long to receive a new battery from ADT.     This is the first review I have ever left in my life but I am so upset with this company that I feel like I have to warn people with our experience. I can’t say anything about the security itself on account if we never actually got to try the home security. A few weeks ago me and my husband were looking into getting a home security system, we decided to go with ADT after seeing the reviews and thought it would be the best price. My husband called to get a quote and was told the price would $36.00 per month, so we set up for them to come out and install the system. We had to reschedule the date for setup so we called them again and we again were told it would be $36.00 per month.

    While we were waiting for them to come out and install, I got a flyer in the mail advertising the $27.00 per month, so my husband called to see if we could get that pricing, the representative told him that the $27.00 pricing was for if we had a phone line (which we do not). The $36.00 was for the wireless, and we wanted wireless, so we stuck with our $36.00 per month.

    The guy from ADT comes out to our house while my husband is at work, and installs the system on our wall. Then when he’s done installing everything, he came and sat down with me to explain all the features and try to upsell me. I said no to all of the upsales, and then at the end he tells me it’s going to be $58 a month. I told him, "No, we were quoted $36.00 a month." He then told me that the $36.00 price was if we had a phone line, I told him the representative told us that the $27.00 one was for if we had a phone line and the $36.00 was for wireless. So the guy with ADT told us to go to Century Link and set up a phone line, pay for the phone line, and then he could honor the $36.00 a month. So I said, "Then what is the $27.00 for?" And he said, "Oh yeah, well we can honor that for a phone line too..." So it made no sense why you would pay $36.00 for a phone line instead of $27.00?

    After going back and forth for awhile, he called his boss and explained the situation, by this time my husband was home and was able to explain to him what the representative had quoted him over the phone. I asked the guy with ADT if they record phone calls and could listen to the 3 different phone calls where my husband was quoted the same price of $36.00 on all 3. The guy said they do record phone calls, but even if they listen to them and the representative did say that, they won’t honor that price. That’s what bothered me the most.

    I’m a supervisor where I work and we record all of our phone calls for this exact reason, if we told a customer wrong information, it doesn’t matter what it was, we would make it right with that customer because it was our mistake, that’s what an honorable company does. I was completely flabbergasted when they told us basically they don’t care that their agents are giving out wrong information. 3 different agents on 3 different phone calls all giving out wrong information? So then we were so upset we said forget it and to uninstall the system.

    So now we have 5 holes in our wall where the system was that we have to patch and paint over, and no home security, all because this company can’t stand behind the word of their employees. Also, a word of suggestion for ADT, maybe have your install guy go over how you’re ripping the customer off before installing the system into someone’s wall!

    We have had ADT service for well over a decade. The system has been reliable as far as the unit working. In that time I want to say the system only required service 3 times. Each time, ADT has had the fault corrected within maybe 2 days and the issues were corrected first time. I had teenagers and at least 3 or 4 times they set the smoke detector off cooking with the oven. ADT would be on the phone within 1 minute.

    During hurricanes and storms where the power has been knocked out, again within minutes ADT made contact to ensure everything was OK. Every time I have had to change the batteries in either the smoke detector, fire alarm or an external read switch, as soon as I popped the cover, ADT would call within 2 minutes to inquire about the tamper switch. The alarm system was actually activated one time and ADT had the police at the property and then called us so fast it scared the would be intruders away. The system has never had a false alarm. Overall I have no complaints and would honestly recommend ADT to friends and family. My system has the keypad, 4 key fobs, 12 reads, several smoke and fire detectors and 1 PIR. It also has the wireless call out should the phone lines be down, cut, power out whatever and a battery back up.

    My alarm warning chime kept sounding and a low battery indicated notice was displayed on the control panel along with a telephone number to call for assistance. I called the number and was told the chime was an indication that the battery had a low charge and I was asked if the power had been off. I told the lady I was speaking with that I had turned the power off while I worked on installing a new electrical outlet but that is was off less than 30 minutes. She ask how long since the battery was replaced. I told her that it had never been replace to my knowledge and we have had the system for over 12 years. She told me I needed a new battery and started the paperwork to have one sent to me - AT NO CHARGE to me.

    She also told me the steps I needed to take to: 1. Silence the warning chime. 2. How to remove and replace the battery once the new one arrived. The new battery arrived within three days and I switched out the battery without incident. Customer service was excellent and replacement parts were quickly sent. I will have to give 5 stars on the helpfulness and speedy service.

    The monitoring side of your service is spot on. My dissatisfaction is that I got the new customer package at the beginning. Now that I would like to upgrade and add some sensors to improve my house coverage, I find that the cost of even adding one more motion sensor will be an absurd amount. Second we had an outage caused by the fires in California. The Cell towers were taken out by fire. I never lost cell phone service so I assume that the towers affected were the only ones supporting old technology. It would be a good idea to upgrade the cell system or replace the old equipment in my house to work with LTE cell signal. Another good idea would be to allow my system to use my always on WIFI. Not having my system connected to your monitoring service made the system useless.

    Recently I had a problem with a fire-alarm issue. I am away from home for long periods of time and have security and fire-alarm service my home. Recently for the first time while I was away I received a call that said my fire-alarm had been activated. I told them of course to notify or not cancel fire-department to check. I was told that I would receive an notification in about 30 minutes.

    Well I was a extremely nervous and in 15 minutes called my neighbor to check. She said no emergency services had shown up and door closest to alarm from the garage was not hot. She could hear the alarm. She said none of the other personally installed alarms were set off. 45 minutes went by and I called ADT, the operator said the fire-department was canceled to response by ADT at the time of activation. SO I WAS SHOCKED. MY HOUSE COULD HAVE BURNED DOWN BECAUSE ADT CANCELED CALL, AFTER I TOLD THEM TO DEPLOY. No other comments needed. Will be changing service soon.

    Thank goodness we have not had to use the system for real. The only time the system was used was by mistake. Fat fingered the control panel setting off the alarm or my favorite one is coming home from someplace and going to the pool area before deactivating the system. Done that several times. The alarm is triggered and yes the ADT alert people call if I am not quick enough to reset.

    I am very pleased with ADT. Service is excellent! I do think it is a bit pricey especially as there are many new alarm systems available to the consumer. I am a loyal customer but I would like to see more home technologies integrated into the ADT system. The ADT hub running the z-wave devices needs to be upgraded to handle newer technologies such as Apple HomeKit or the Alexa home assistant. There needs to be more choices in home automation equipment.

    I have been an ADT customer since 2003. I have always felt my alarm system was reliable and I could sleep well knowing my family was safe. Just recently while testing my system, I realized that the alarms are no longer audible on the second floor. This happens to be where all of the bedrooms are! I called ADT and hung up after being placed on hold for 20+ minutes. I tried email for assistance but never received a response. What has happened to them? They have ALWAYS been so attentive. I guess I haven't needed anything from them for years and something has changed since then. Does anyone know what I can try with my system? It is the old type (never been upgraded in 14 years). Please help! I can't sleep well anymore for worrying unless I sleep downstairs on the couch... And I miss my bed!

    We've had ADT since 2006 and Comcast wanted to give us a deal on a wireless system. But ADT's wired system works fine and the digital stuff was too complicated. When the installer came out, he didn't think we needed a bunch of extra stuff and it was nice that he brought that up for us. So I really liked him because he saved us some money. The last issue I had was when the battery died. We were in Arizona and the alarm system went off and couldn't figure out what caused them. I called ADT and they told me what needed to be done. So my son came in and swapped out the battery and it was fine. It's been nice that the rates have stayed pretty reasonable over the years. I'm very satisfied with their service and equipment. It runs very well and ADT has been great.

    Do not purchase ADT... Over $1,000 later my home is still not covered. This morning I received a phone call due to a "communication" error. Apparently now my home is vulnerable. The only way to remedy the situation is to access my control panel. That's difficult/impossible to do two states away. The whole point of an alarm is so I can leave my home and feel secure, and now I can't... They did offer a free month of service for the inconvenience though! But what's service that doesn't work?

    We’ve been with ADT for about seven years and we like them. We have the emergency, fire and police features in our package including the touchpad, the chips in the windows and the box inside the house. It’s okay so far. We have no issues with them and they’re always here when we need them. The sales team and customer service are good. They’ve answered all the questions that we needed. However the prices vary a little bit. I was looking at other devices out there and the monthly is a little different. Some of them are cheaper. I’m guessing it’s because ADT is loyal.     I've had ADT for as long as it's been in existence. Prior to this, I started with another service that changed twice, and then we finally ended up as ADT. We have 24-hour monitoring and I'm comfortable with their service. Customer service is great and the techs are very professional. I have had a maintenance issue with the door and the connection but they came out and fixed it. Also, I like the fact that you get a call even though you turn it off to let you know they're still monitoring. Last week one of my batteries went low and the system was chirping, and the next morning, I was going to call in. However they called me before I called in to tell me that the batteries were low and and they told me how to check the system.

    However, I am a little bit concerned about the cost. I look at other services and the cost is less but I'm not sure what you get from the other services. Most services are $25 to $30 a month, but with ADT, my bill every three months is $160. But overall, it's been an invaluable opportunity and service to my family, and I appreciate the work.

    We have three doors downstairs and wanted the house secure at night. ADT came and put a device on each of the doors and then they talked us through the alarm system and how to use it. We also have the ADT system sign out in the yard. ADT works very well for us but my husband has dementia and it costs us $9 every time he opens the door when we set the alarm at night. Nothing was done when I talked to customer service and explained the situation. We're retired and we're on a budget, and it's been more than three times usually a month. It’s fine when the alarm goes off and we catch it right away but we get a call from ADT and the Sheriff if we don’t. Nevertheless, I feel safer at night having the system on. We live in a rural country and we have motion lights on the garage and on the house, but it's good to know that I have that security of the alarm system on each door and each entrance. I'm glad that we have ADT.

    We were a former client of ADT years ago when we lived up in Michigan and we have them since we moved about 13 years ago. We have inside/outside speakers for the doorbell, the typical alarm system for the fire and police, and on all the windows and doors. We also have the yard sign. The service is wonderful and everything was very professional and well done. When we had false alarms, they were well managed and the response time was within a minute. We have a grandson who is 10 years old and has Down's Syndrome. When he came down from Michigan to visit, he loved the red fire button on our keypad and he pushed it, and all hell broke loose. The alarms went off and he panicked but we were able to stop the police from coming. However, the fire department comes automatically so we weren’t able to stop that. Then the firemen really put him in his place, which was a good thing to see. I wouldn’t be home without ADT's security system.

    I have ADT security system for almost 8 years for now. This security system did not detect glass break-in burglary activity that just happened once this week on Tuesday while we were out to office. I'm totally dissatisfied with this system that it cannot provide any peace of mind. We were lucky that we are not at home and imagine if any of us or kids at home. I really hate this security system.
