ADT has always been a thing and it’s one of the more known as opposed to other providers. The person over the phone was awesome as well as the installer. He was cool and he explained everything. He was very efficient. We’ve never been in a position where we needed the system to work extremely well, but it's what you always hope for. I like the smart features. It’s a lot more convenient. You can check it whenever and wherever and make sure everything's what it should be.

I had a good experience with ADT's rep. I went with them and the guy who did my installation was really good too. He gave me all the options and let me decide what I wanted. He let me know what each of their items did and made the installation experience easy. We like our system so far.

I had the worst experience with this company. They have no clue on what customer service should be like. Not one time a manager reached out to try to help. I made 12 calls to try to resolve a simple issue with a wall panel my elderly parents couldn’t used, all I wanted was to changed the panel to a more simple one. Instead they wanted me to buy a new system. And my service got interrupted, not one time I never received a call about it. They are not monitoring your home like they claimed they are. This company is a joke and I'm serious, I had other system before ADT and this is the worst. VIVINT definitely exposed the lack of customer service I was getting with ADT.

I cannot believe that a company can get away with lie after lie. First the salesperson came down and told us that we will not be locked into a contract and we can cancel at any time. He kept repeating it to the point where I should have known something is off. I have been having trouble with them ever since. Today I called them that I have updated my WiFi and need to update my camera. They wanted me to get onto a ladder (which I don’t have) to reset my camera. I asked them if they can come down and do it for me, they said sure. They set up the appointment and didn’t mention anything about a “discounted” price of $173 for the first half hour!!! They are the least transparent company ever and I wish I would have read reviews before signing up. I am now stuck in a contract that I don’t want and can’t afford.
Hello Lea. We apologize for any frustration this has caused you. Our technical support team at 1-800-238-2727would be able to walk you through the steps over the phone to update the WIFI password at no cost. The maintenance agreement only covers normal wear and tear of the system. All other updates to the system are a billable cost. Thank you

Updated on 08/01/2020: Now I’m facing additional issues! NO ONE FROM UPPER MANAGEMENT HAS RESPONDED ONLY SALES. I’m unable to reach anyone to speak with to find out why I’m being told now that I have to pay $450 for the PREVIOUS contract that should not be in service. The new contract forced from ADT was set up for connection 8/3. The leasing agent stated they have security through Comcast; however, I’m not going to be stuck with a $450 cancellation contract; therefore since ADT wants to be unreasonable, connection needs to be set up and I’ll stick with the $29.99 for the 12 months! ADT GIVES ME NO CHOICE. DO THEY?
I’m really flaring and suffering from distress due to all of this as it has triggered my autoimmune issues! I’m to the point where I’m ready to contact NBC 12 NEWS AND AN ATTORNEY if this is not resolved. I have the keypad that Rick/ Rich asked me to take from ** Lane to turn into ADT also. Someone needs to get this equipment.
Updated on 07/14/2020: After Numerous complaints, ADT has failed to resolve the said issues. They response on several sites asking for the information and then do not resolve the problem nor provide their email information or they respond stating their "relocation policy is found on their website". (Attachments were included.)
Original Review: ADT does NOT disclose their "relocation policy" in contracts prior to customers signing them! I have been dealing with an ongoing dispute for weeks now to include a BBB complaint. I am relocating and there is absolutely nothing in my contract stating that relocating is breaking the contract, however, ADT does not allow for the equipment to be moved per their "relocation department", requires you to pay for additional equipment, raises the price of the monthly service AND requires you to sign an additional 36-month contract. This makes absolutely zero sense when you are a renter. ADT is unfair and practices bad business ethics.
Hello Emmely- We're truly sorry to learn you feel this way and to hear of the frustration! We would be happy to review this with you further if you could please email our team directly with the full address in which the services are located and the account information along with more information in regard to your issue.~ Thank you

The system is great and the installer was great too. I wasn't there when the install got done, but I had a friend who I'm gonna be sharing the house with there. I've had ADT in the past and they are on it. Any movement or anything at my house, the cops are called and I'm called. They're very efficient. This time, the box is bigger than the other box that I had and I might ask if we can move it a little bit later on to a different location, but I'm sure that wouldn't be hard to do.

We went with ADT thinking they were gonna have a better price versus other providers. They were priced pretty high though. We originally thought we would be paying $1,200 for all the products that we were putting in. When their tech came out and started installing the system, the cost was over $5,000. ADT ended up bringing the price down to about $2,600. The tech also didn't have all the things he needed and had to come back another time. He broke one of the parts for the basement water detector as well. He had to get another one of those. Now, we're waiting on an outside camera that he has not installed. We haven't heard from him yet. Still, we're happy with our system so far.

We've been in Minnesota for how many years so we were comfortable with that, but here in Colorado, we're not comfortable. In our area, being a new construction, people go in there, break in and steal stuff and dump stuff off. It took a while for them to stop doing that. ADT's installer is a nice guy. He installed the motions on the doors and a camera.
We also have a doorbell but the tech couldn't install that because our Wi-Fi now had a symbol in it and they couldn't install it then unless we changed the password. We changed the password to remove the symbol so he could install the doorbell. Most passwords demand you to make sure there's a symbol, uppercase and how many letters. The tech called and asked ADT if you could actually put a symbol in it and he said no, they couldn't. Sometimes, I call ADT if the system is not working. We have a camera and occasionally, it does not track on motion, but sometimes does. Other than that, ADT has been pretty good to me.

The rep explained everything clearly and installed the system. But it's a new home and the Wi-Fi is not ready so we haven't set up everything yet. He still needs to come for a second time. When he was here, he installed all of the motion detectors, the door switches, the window shaft switches, and the panel. The remaining are the front doorbell video camera and the backdoor video camera. He is skilled. But he didn't take care of the details very much. For example, cleaning the trash and the debris after he drilled the hole on the wall.
Hello Ying. We appreciate your feedback and apologize for the clutter. We will certainly have that addressed internally. Could you please let us know if there is any issue with arranging a return visit to have the rest of the install completed when the Wi-Fi is ready? -Andrew

Where I live in South Florida, everybody has a security system because there's a lot of crime. There are predominantly two signs in everybody's yard, ADT or Xfinity which I have for Wi-Fi service. I decided to go with ADT because security is all they do. Plus, I had them at another address in a different part of the country. When I bought a new home, my name was farmed out to other services and everybody started calling me. ADT called me up and I explained to them that I was a previous customer. They offered me a discount and I found that it was way above and beyond what most people get. I got a discount on equipment of about $3,000 and other people normally get a $900 standard discount. Being a repeat customer got me better discounting.
However, we scheduled the installation the day after my closing. It was a 60-day closing period. 10 days before the supposed installation date, I got a phone call from ADT saying that we needed to set up a date to install. I told the reps that we already had a date. It was important to me that as soon as I own my property it would be protected but ADT did not have anybody to install. So, I had to wait another week to get the installation done which was a bit annoying. That made me second guess my choice.
On the day of the installation, they sent out their tech Louie who was clearly one of their top installers. It was a big installation and he was at my place most of the day. ADT's process was beyond outstanding. He talked to me about every single thing and gave me really good advice on some of the preconceived ideas I had about the placement of my cameras and motion detectors. He gave me a lot of inside information and was a pleasant person. He was very friendly and we chatted. I ended up having a problem with one of the cables put in and he brought me another one. This is one of the best customer experiences I've had with all of my home improvements.

A lot of my neighbors have ADT. I had AT&T beforehand and I was not happy with them, so I switched with ADT. The sales rep answered all my questions and made me feel very comfortable. I did the windows, the doors and the keyless fob and the installer was wonderful. He was very knowledgeable and he did not overstay. There was social distancing with everything going on as well. He did what he had to do and explained everything very thoroughly before he left.

ADT was recommended by the deputy sheriff in Baldwin County and then I had simultaneously received the brochure that said I could get free equipment and it's for 27.99 a month. We scheduled the appointment with the sales rep and Mike ** came out. He was very, very good. But it was a little questionable that they told me I had to pay $99 upfront to schedule the appointment and then they told me I'd get that back with $100 Visa cards. Then the charge ended up being 107.99. When the salesman came, I had to send in all the paperwork to get the Visa card. I had to go get a 4.95 money order. So I'm really only get $95 back and I had to put in 107. They owe me $12. I like for people to be straightforward about things because the devil is in the details.
The other thing that I really didn't like is the circular said that I could get it for 27.99 a month. That's if you have a landline but it doesn't specify that. I ended up having to pay 59.99 a month. Another thing ADT doesn't tell you is that you pay him $107 upfront but they say it's 99, then you schedule the installation and when the tech got out there, he said that it was one day install. But we had to make a decision right then and there. So there's a bit of bait and switch going on there. I would appreciate knowing that upfront. We got the new touchpad and it's really, really easy to use. It's like a little Kindle or iPad. It's very nice. We hope it works well.

I've always had ADT growing up. Our family had it in our homes and so it’s something I wanted when I bought my house in North Carolina, was kind of the same setup my parents have in their house. I'm in the military and one of my buddies who was in California with me told me about ADT and how that's actually a really good deal. I'm about to be with special forces. I’m going to all kinda deployments and I don't want my wife at home alone so I got ADT for some protection over the house. The sales representative was good. The guy came out the day that I moved out here and set the system up. I like it a lot and I wanna get a few cameras in the house before I leave and some of the stuff in the windows.

I looked up ADT on the internet and I liked their availability. The sales rep was good but they could’ve reviewed the pricing over the phone. When the installer came, he knew what he was doing and he explained everything. So far, the alarm system is working fine. I'm happy with what it's doing.

We bought a home and ADT contacted us and said that we were given a $100 credit for goods. We decided to go with them and went through a very simple process to purchase their system. Their rep worked with what we wanted and our needs. The installation only took three hours and everything was very well explained by the techs. They were very thorough. The house was protected before, but it was a very old system. ADT put it in about 12 years ago. I had used Guardian and I wasn't happy with it. I called ADT, and so we completely redid the system for the house. It was very expensive. I have used ADT before, and I got an advertisement. The price has turned out to be a whole lot higher than the advertisement said. I've had an uneasy feeling for a couple of months. But I got what I paid for, which was peace of mind. The system is easy to use, too. As far as the people, the guy that came out spent 14 hours here. We got to know each other really well. I bet he wanted to get it done. He was a very dear guy. He was very personable and seemed to know what he was doing. He was kind, thoughtful and careful.

With all this stuff going on, I wanted to have a security system. I wanted ADT because they were running a special and I could afford it, but then they told me it was almost $60. That wasn't running in my budget. Still, they came, hooked up the stuff, and except for the monthly paid charges, I’m very satisfied with it. I haven't investigated any of it yet, but the installer hooked the remote control thing. He was sweet too. He told me he could get me a cheaper rate, but it still ended up being a lot higher than I had. Apart from that, I love the system and I had recommend it to a friend.

Customers beware: A contract with "Blue by ADT" is not a contract with "ADT". I signed up with "Blue by ADT" when I was moving to a condo for a year. Now, I am moving to a house and ADT can't send a professional technician to set up my home security because I am with "Blue by ADT". My only choice is to buy and set up 100+ sensors on my own to secure my new house to keep my family safe. "Blue by ADT" technician (Dylan) gave me the assurance that if I sign a new contract with ADT and get a new ADT system installed at my house, "Blue by ADT" would waive my early termination fee ($500). An ADT technician (Steve) couldn't confirm this waiver. I am stuck with no security at my new house.
Hello- Thank you for taking the time to reach out to us. We are sorry to hear of your experience. ADT Blue is part of ADT that is handled by Life shield. My mom uses ADT and when they set everything up for me, it was great. The tech asked what my security needs were at the time and advised me of different things I could do to upgrade along the way depending on what my financial situation was at this time. He showed me how to use the system on my phone and on the key fob. He was very thorough which was great. He was also very patient and explained everything. He was awesome. They had to do the extra billings the next three days though and that's the one thing that did throw me for the loop a little bit because I wasn't prepared for that. I didn't know anything about it until he came out and advised that they were gonna have to do that. It got me in bind a little bit. I would've postponed the installation because I had just moved. I would recommend that they let someone know that there would be another fee that is outside of the initial fee, at the time of install.

The installation of our ADT was okay. It was a long process, but it was all right. I didn’t know we had to have a credit card though. I had to check my phone all day and he had to wait for some people on the other end. But other than that, it was okay. The service of the salesperson was good. Just when you call, they should tell you whether you’re gonna buy it. ‘Cause I didn’t know. One time, he told me like 500-some dollars for four months and I couldn’t do that. So, when you call, they need to tell you, “We’ll give you option on what you want to do,” before they throw the price at you. But I'm satisfied with them.

Then, my girlfriend got home after the installation was done and she said that I needed to change a few things. I had to call back and get some stuff fixed that I had done wrong but it was simple to get everything fixed. I have a door open/closed sensor with a glass sensor as well. I also have two normal open/closed sensors, fire and carbon detector and a motion sensor downstairs in my basement.

My experience with them was always good not great but good. Today July 8 I'm the middle of a pandemic I was called by service agent Tina. None of this is Tina's fault however I'm sure that's not even her name. She called stating that my account was in delinquent. Lol I have auto-pay so the last 3 times they called about this that statement ended the call but Tina tells me that no this is from 2018 and they couldn't charge it with the auto pay.
Now maybe Tina was a retired cop or maybe just trying to sound like one but she basically ignored me when I told her that in 2018 I remember clearing this up but she wasn't having it and now I'm paying for 2 months of service. Why did I have to wait 2 years to get a call about this. Is there billing practices really that much of a joke? So in the end I paid the bill even though I'm just coming off of furlough and not in the best financial shape but what am I going to do. I guess the service is good knock on wood I don't know because I've never had a break in but if they took two years to sort out billing issues what else is falling through the cracks. May need to think about someone new. Sorry ADT I hate airing this review out but there's no way to email or message them directly.
Hello Julio- We apologize for the troubles. Our auto-pay charges you for one month at a time and may not charge you for previous bills. There were signs around the neighborhood that people have ADT on their property. I don't really know much about home security to begin with and just within the last three months, we've had four incidents here. The license plate on my husband’s truck was stolen and swapped with a stolen vehicle's plate. His tire was also vandalized. Before the theft, the 2020 sticker that you put on your license plate was also stolen. Then on July 2nd, my car was stolen right out of the driveway. I was worried. They started with the cars and they’ll eventually gonna come in the house.
We have a camera on the front porch that angles over the driveway so you could see on the porch when someone comes up. You could see most of the front yard and the driveway but at night, you cannot see the driveway. So, I wanted to get a doorbell cam and have that camera that's on the front porch more towards the driveway. But the installer said that because our house is so old, there's probably no wire. He worked for six hours. We had 24 windows and two doors. So, he put a sensor on every window and every door. We also got a camera in the back, so we got a total of two cameras. It was a cool experience.
All our bedrooms are downstairs in the basement and my husband works nights, so I like that we have the system up and running. If somebody tries to come in the window or the door, I won't have to worry about waking up with somebody in the house. I feel a lot safer since having the system, especially at night. I've never had a security system in my house in my entire life, so it's something new to get used to but it's very easy, especially with the mobile app. I love it. I like being able to set it without having to set the main station. If we forget to set it when we leave the house, I'm like, "Oh no," but then I'm like, "Oh yeah, the mobile app."

The persons I had spoken to over the phone had told me something completely different. They told me that the cost of my system would be $35 a month. Instead, it was more like $56. They also told me that I would get a bunch of equipment for free which was not true as we had to pay an extra $300 for the camera. At the time, I felt very misled. ADT should not give their customers sticker shock. Despite this issue, the installer I got was very upfront. Also, understanding from a standpoint of Wi-Fi and wired cameras, the range and what the risks are, that could have been presented during the pre-installation a little bit better. The sensors go off saying there's a burglary when I know there’s none. It could be just from the weather. So, I don't know if those sensors need to be readjusted on the windows. Those are the same couple ones that give a false alarm, and that should be addressed.

I used ADT at my home up in Oregon. I don't know how many choices there are in a small town with 1,190 people, but they were there. I chose them because of their reputation and when I looked at some of the others, they seemed to have the most options. I'm a lawyer and based on my investigation three years ago, I gather that almost all of the security services have a clause in their contract. If the company gets sued or has any problems with somebody I have no control over (a third party), I have to indemnify them. I fought that and I even went to somewhere in Atlanta and talked to them. I said that was crazy, but they insisted on it, so I signed the contract with that in there.
I've called their customer service a couple of times with questions in the first year of service and I got answers. I was happy after the call. My first three years just passed and I renewed for another three. They've done very well for me and I'm happy with them. When the alarm goes off, they send me a text and they also call. When I had a problem with a smoke detector, they sent someone out. We had to schedule an appointment, but I appreciated that. We're way out in the boonies, so it was really nice to have somebody come, move it and fix it.

I was looking for a camera security system but we don’t have an internet. I went on went with ADT after the sales rep got here and showed me how it worked. The installation guy was super nice and very helpful. It made it all great. As far as the system itself, I like the sensors. We've made some loud noises that made the glass break sensors go off that made us feel pretty confident about. I had a great and easy experience.

I saw the ad for 27.99 and I called ADT, but it didn't quite work out that way. I ended up spending about $800 and $45 a month but that's life. The house wasn't pre-wired and I didn't read the small print. So they put it in the wireless. The alarms gone off the last three years a couple of times by mistake and they have called within a few minutes. So somebody stays on the telephone all the time. We gave them the code word and they said, "Thank you," and hung up. If there was somebody in here that didn't do it, then they would call the sheriff.
Now they're saying they do it wireless. I asked when I called about redoing the contract and they said that I got a lot more benefits than the ad. But when I was looking at the ad, it said it has fire protection and home security. It only has seven windows and doors. But I have more than that. There's wireless remote and I have that. There's an outdoor camera but I don't have that. But I'm with them for the next three years come hell or high water.

The sales rep and the installation were fantastic. However, for some reason, they had me down as automatic pay through my credit card which I don’t recall doing, so I called them and had that fixed. Now, I have to call and find out why I have a bill already when it’s only been in for a week or two. I also gotta call and find out how I can turn that voice down on that box. She’s very loud. Apart from that, I like that ADT has secured the whole house and garage.

ADT came out to set the system up the day after I called. I signed up for a seven-day trial period where they don't contact anyone for seven days. During the trial period, I set off the alarm. So, I need someone to call me back and tell me how much time I have to shut off the alarm if I set off a fire alarm. As far as the system, it's easy enough to use. I had to add my mom as a user. So, I went through the menus, and I found it. It wasn't too hard. So far, it was done promptly and everything's fine.

We've had ADT for a while and we just upgraded our system. The system works good and we haven't had any problems. But when we signed up with ADT five years ago, somehow I wound up with a company called Defenders and they represented themselves as ADT. We completely got hosed on that first go-round and I almost didn't go with ADT on the second go-round because of that. So I would highly recommend for ADT to separate themselves from Defenders.

ADT has been reliable. There hasn't been a problem. The installation was terrible though. The guy didn't know what he was doing. He didn't know how to install the system. He made a complete and total mess of it. He left my basement a mess with parts all over the place. Then he handed me a bill for $8,000. I threw him out of the house.
The rep said $99 is what I was gonna be charged. Then the installer came in and he literally ripped the system out, just grabbed the wires and cut them and pulled everything off the wall. Then he threw this mess up on the wall that didn't work. I talked to a manager and he apologized for it, and said, "That's, of course, not the way it was supposed to work." I said, "This guy has got to be retrained or gotten rid of 'cause he was just absolutely incompetent." The transformer that powers the system, he left it on my washing machine connected to the system by wire. But, it's been working fine. I've checked to see that it works fine, called up and asked if it's online and everything's copacetic. So far, it's been three plus years and it's been fine. So I'm happy.
Hello George- Thank you for being a member of the ADT family for 3 years. We appreciate your loyalty to us. We are sorry to hear of the experience that you had with your installation. We will make sure we take the opportunity to improve.

I don't know if the sales representative was very upfront and very rushed in everything though. He didn’t specifically go into the equipment costs of what that might look like before diving into the monthly payments. I thought that could have been a little bit better. Other than that, he was very kind. The contractor was great. I loved him. He explained everything clearly and talked to me about every step and answered all the questions I had. I had some theft at my property a couple of months ago and my car was stolen out of the driveway. They opened up a federal halfway house down the street from me and didn't tell the neighbors about it. Then, I just started seeing noticeable things that were changing, so I thought it was time to get ADT. My experience with their rep was really great. He explained a lot and he understood my circumstances. However, I should've asked more detailed questions because I was under the assumption that the $100 fee that I was paying was for the service. I didn't know I had to pay the additional 299 to activate the camera. There was no issue with that, but it would be great if they would give the total package upfront, not just the advertised package.
The installer was great because he was telling me what features would go best for my house. What I really wanted to get was a little bit pricey for me. I understand ADT has to sell its product, so I stuck with it and I didn't go back to the other company that had given me a quote which was cheaper. With ADT, they wanted four lump sums and it was $300 and something a month, plus my monthly service. That was like $350 a month for a security system. That's a lot, even for me and even if I wanted to put that on a credit card every month. But I'm satisfied with my service. It goes off every time the wind blows, but I'm gonna have to figure that out. I was just dissatisfied with how the system was packaged to me because it wasn't packaged like that on the phone when I called to make the appointment. But the tech was very helpful. He managed to give me a package that I could afford. It is also a good system.

Everybody at ADT was friendly, extremely polite and they did their job. It was kind of a bait and switch tactic though with the mailer that I got sent out. It said we could have the service and all these things for 27.99 a month, and then that wasn't the case. When it got here, even the package that they were selling to install is not available at 27.99. They're giving somebody a camera for free, but it doesn't work with the 27.99 package. I'm sure all of that was written down in the fine print had I taken out the magnifying glass to read it. As it turns out, we settled. We found a nice compromise. We got it for 36.99 a month, and we're pleased. It's a good system and everything was done well. It just is a little bit frustrating because I thought we were getting one thing and it ended up turning into something else.

ADT and How They Cheated a Hurricane Harvey Victim – Most Negative Review Possible. We live in the Houston area and had a major upgrade to our ADT system in 2016 – cost over $1000 and was a “reinstallation” so came with a new 3 year contract. August 2017 Hurricane Harvey put over 3’ water in the house for 3 days. An old house made damage even worse. Having a previous shallow flood forced the decision to demolish & rebuild, not repair. A new house, same spot but elevated foundation and never flood again. Moving out, cleaning, packing and salvaging everything downstairs and just packing and storing everything upstairs took a long time.
In 2018 we called ADT and explained there was nothing left to protect. The empty house would stand there waiting for Habitat for Humanity to “Deconstruct” it (volunteers strip and salvage every useful thing) then demolish. I told ADT we were hurricane victims and should not have to pay money for nothing any more – they didn’t care, you have a 3 year contract– keep paying. So we did. Late in 2018 I called again and asked if they could cut the monthly rate at least. They said sure we can cut it to $19.99+ tax for 6 months. They didn’t tell me it would start another 3 year contract and I never agreed to it..
So after 6 month discount the rate went back up - then August 2019 I called to say my 3 years from 2016 were up – stop billing me. They said “no way I agreed to a new 3 year contract when I called in 2018 so “keep on paying until 2021”. They claimed I made a “verbal contract”. I didn’t, but that didn’t matter – they threatened my credit if I didn’t keep paying. We are still paying them money for nothing. New house is almost finished finally. Who’s going to provide our security? Not ADT for sure. They shouldn’t provide yours either.. He doesn't need a home line phone, so I told the rep that that was okay. Somebody else called me back later that day and I told her that I wanted the service for $27, but they said that I needed a home line phone. She said that wasn't true and I said I got it. When the guy came over to install it, he told me that my bill was going to be 40 something dollars a month because we didn't have our landline phone. That caused a whole bunch of headache for me. I'm not going to pay more for ADT than what I pay for Vivint, and I have more options with Vivint.
He called his boss because I was upset about it and he ended up giving it to me for $27 because they said they were going to go back to listen to the recording, but evidently, whoever gave me the service didn't know what she was talking about. Everybody needs to be on the same page. Also, I don't think the installer gave me everything that I was supposed to get. I was moving my family into a new home and Protect Your Home was right on time that I needed it. I was downsizing from a 3,000 square foot home to a smaller home. Emma always had ADT at the home that we had previously, so she was comfortable with it. I also wanted to make it a smooth transition for my family. The installation went great. The only part that I didn't like was the three-year contract. It was in my name first, and then they installed it. Then before 72 hours, I was thinking that none of my other utilities were three years. Then with the uncertainty of the climate right now, I couldn't see three years down the line, so I called and wanted to cancel, and they sent somebody out to uninstall.
We then decided to put it in Emma's name 'cause in whatever event, we'd always need ADT even if we move. The guy said he could do it and he got on the line with some people and he switched it and kept the system. The only thing is when it was in my name, I gave my debit card to take the auto payments out of it. But since we switched it to Emma's, I've been having difficulty trying to switch the card to our joint account card 'cause every time I put my ADT, it's the account that's in my name so it shows zero balance, I don't owe anything.
I remember when the guy was switching everything over, he said that even though we switched it to Emma's name, the card that I signed up on file is what they would be drafting the auto payments for. I called earlier to see if that was true and the person that picked up said they never successfully transferred it over to Emma's name and it's still in my name. There was no account under Emma. I said that the guy asked me questions and that he asked Emma questions, and he confirmed that everything was done correctly. We got off the phone with the understanding that it might take some time for Protect Your Home to submit a new contract. Emma's happy that she doesn't have to remember the keypad, so I'm happy.

Then he put our carbon dioxide thing in the wrong place so, we moved it. I’ve not been happy with them, especially when the lady set up an appointment for them to come out and they did not come out here for them to look at my motion detector. She scheduled it for the next day and they didn't even call me to tell me they wouldn’t come. They were supposed to be here between 8:00 and 12:00 and I sat here and waited on them. I called the lady and told her.
The guy at the service desk helped me with some issues with it but I was telling him about the guy who came and installed it. I wasn’t very happy with some of the things that he did. I was concerned about this grey book he had that had every customer’s address and passwords, every kind of system they had and what he changed on it. This was his personal book and it wasn’t an ADT book. But I was a little bit disappointed with the sales team because they had promised me a rate over the phone but they failed to mention that I wasn’t actually gonna be able to qualify for that rate if I got the package that I wanted. It was just the detail that they left out, which is obviously a sales tactic. It was quite frustrating to have them come and install everything and then tell me that my monthly payment was actually gonna be double than what they had actually said it was gonna be.
On top of that, I had to have technical support come out to the house multiple times within the first month to fix the service. Initially, we also had some issues getting set up with connecting the cameras to the Wi-Fi network but they were very helpful. Everybody's been really helpful and I really, really like their customer service. It was really well done.
The techs were very professional. They reviewed the whole house with me. We went through a walkthrough of what I thought were the danger areas and the tech agreed with me. They explained everything really well. We agreed on how everything should be configured and then we ran the budget for all that equipment. They asked if that was okay and they threw in some extra stuff for free. So they were really well prepared. It was a really positive experience. They were in there for quite a while, making sure everything was installed correctly, and then they walked me through how to use everything on the app. I was really impressed with their tech.
I recently moved so I had the system is uninstalled from the old house and moved to the new house. That part went seamless. But when I went to log in, it wouldn't link to the new house because my email address was linked to the old house. The tech on the phone told me that I was gonna have to get a new email address. But I said that was not gonna happen. They kept pushing that that was the only way to be able to access my account online for the new account was to make a new email address, which I thought was ridiculously stupid.
I kept calling back 'till I got somebody that knew what they were doing and said they could link the account for me so I can still log in with my credentials. It now goes to the new house. But that whole experience was not very pleasant because it was really frustrating and annoying. The tech on the phone was not very pleasant. But when I got the person that knew how to make those changes, they were much better to deal with. So ADT should make a little bit of like phone help change. There are lots of thing though that were not explained such as how it will be charged. Even though it says that the basic one is at $27 a month, when it comes to the actual installation and the phone and internet line, it goes up. That was not considered because we may not need that sophisticated camera or such that someone can’t break into our home at night. The phone line that we have is not nearby. And if we were to lose power, even if someone tried to cut our cables or cut off the power to the house, it would still functional and it would still be secure. There have been a couple of times where I've had to call them and they were very good at figuring out what the diagnosis was and giving us a resolution or solution to it. Recently, they updated their system and a gentleman called us and offered to send us a bill type of deal as to what it would cost to get a more updated system. He had put something together and he was going to email me but I haven't received the email so I've been waiting to hear back from ADT. Other than that, we've had good success with this set-up.

One of the person that works for ADT went knocking on the doors in our neighborhood and he went to the house but he had a rude attitude. It was a decision that we had to make between my husband and I so we told him that we would give him a call back. I asked him for his phone number and he told me that the next number I was gonna be dialing was 911. But everything that he was telling us was good. It was just the fact that the way he was rude. We decided to get the alarm system in the house but we didn’t get it through the first guy because of his attitude. I got a flyer on the mail and then I called and I had a guy come in and installed it.

The marketing ADT has been doing stating that they will give us $100 is very poor and ineffective. The reps tell me when I call them that I have to mail something and listen to something and in three days, I would receive my $100. That is misleading and if they continue to do that, they will be in big trouble. I sent paperwork and I received an email offering me $200, not $100. They said that I have to wait 8 weeks more. Regardless, my experience with the technology installed in my home has been great. ADT's tech has been great as well.

I started researching ADT and they have been there the longest. It’s a well-known company. So, that was why I decided to go with them. The guy on customer service was awesome. He was really cool. He was very informative and knowledgeable. It was a good experience overall. I have three cameras at home right now, and I called in because the one that is for outside works 5 times out of 10 that I select it, and it never shows a picture. So, I called ADT immediately and they said they were gonna give me a call back to send someone down here, and I still never got a call back. Everything else besides that has been good. I’m very satisfied with the products that I have.

Companies, especially today when we have choices on where to spend our money, should tell us the truth and I didn't get the truth on the call with ADT. The two experiences – with the salesperson and with the installer – were polar opposites and it was super frustrating. I felt like I should have gone with my cable provider or somebody else. But I went with ADT because of the brand name and the reviews. I'm a single mom so it's just me and my son and I thought I might as well go with the best. I had googled the best security system and there was some article that evaluated the top three picks in the country. I read the whole article and ADT was number one.
But the sales experience was not so great. The salesperson on the phone was super nice and helpful. He offered me all of these really great things and lots of freebies and it sounded amazing. But when the guy came to install the system, at least half of what the guy on the sales call had told me wasn't true. So that wasn't good. But It was not the installer's fault and in a kind manner, I expressed my frustration to him. He stepped outside and called his manager to see if they could honor at least part of what was promised me on the sales call.
When it was all said and done, I did get what I was able to live with and afford. But it was very disappointing that the two experiences were not aligned. I was really disappointed in ADT in the end. What was that? Was that like bait and switch? They got me to say yes so the guy came to the house and then it was not anything like that and they're gonna charge me more. However, I'm very satisfied with the product and the installation didn't take too long. This is a five-year old construction and the previous owners had a completely different type of security system before I bought the house so the tech kinda had to start from scratch so it took him a little bit longer. But it was super reasonable and he seemed fast to me.

I was no longer satisfied with the other company, Tri-Tek, that protected me against break-ins. I called ADT and they sent somebody out to check my place. The rep was very informed about what he was selling. However, I found out that he was actually a subcontractor and ADT did not make that known. That should not happen. ADT should not be able to send subcontractors to represent their company. All the while, I was thinking I was dealing with ADT with the way they have their business set up. I called the Better Business Bureau because that is fraudulent representation. So far, the system works well though and I use it every day.

My wife did her research to see if it has good performance and she found ADT good. Their customer service was okay. The guy told us about the contract, and we talked to him and got it hooked up. Later on I knew that it was a three years contact, but it was okay. The installation was good, too. They, however, told me initially that that is free equipment. And then it looked like it was supposed to be $1,000 worth, and then it was 800. So, I don’t know what was free, but the whole thing was 4,000. So, while I feel it was good, it was also misleading to say that it was free.

The installers were nice and friendly. They tried to upsell me stuff that I didn't want and before I even signed the paperwork, they already installed the keypad onto my wall, so I felt a little pressured. Now, if I say no, I'm going have a hole in my wall and I didn't like that tactic. Also, I've always had ADT in the past and every once in a while, I'll have a window sensor or door sensor go bad, but that's common. I had that issue at my other houses too. However, I have a motion sensor in my basement and sometimes I could walk around there all the time with my alarm on, when it's away, and the motion sensor doesn't activate.
I called ADT and they've checked it. We put it on a test, and as soon as I go down there, it works. Another thing is that costs go up everywhere and ADT has to pay bills and payroll too, but the monthly price is a little expensive for what the system does. I have the basic and that's all I need. It gives me a first line of defense. If the alarm goes off, it wakes me up and I grab my gun and phone.

Sales was very misleading. They promised a list of things. One of the most important things I wanted was the door lock with the keyless entry and it turned out that I had to upgrade to this and that. It was ridiculous. But the installation itself was fine. Everything works great. The installer did a really nice job. I called them back because I was willing to pay for the extra equipment. But I wanted it spread out over the three payments that they initially tried to get me to do. The rep told me it was gonna be this whole other thing. So it was a no go.

ADT is well-known and after I talked with the first gal, I was told that she wasn't completely right about a lot of stuff and I didn't think she was. I even disagreed with her. She asked if I had landline here and I told her that I did but it was dead and not hooked up. She said that the system would work with it anyway but I told her that it was not possible. She was getting it confused with a wireless system but she was really sweet. Plus, she answered my questions. I told her that I didn't want a whole lot and I don't require a whole lot. I mainly wanted an alarm to sound when I'm gone. I also think that the signs will do their job more than anything around this area. I like my neighbors and they seem very nice. But I got the system to be sensible. And I don't want somebody who happen to be drunk to come into the wrong house because I’m going to get them.
The rep who came out was very nice as well. We didn't do a whole lot of going through stuff but he was here a while because I was trying to explain what I didn't want and I didn't want much of anything. I got bare-bones but the prices were outrageous. I've got two glass-breaking things, the stuff on the doors for opening and closing, to arm and disarm it, and the two doors going into the garage. Then the desktop thing but I haven't used it. I don't know if they got notified but it's never been turned on.
The guy that put the system was very nice, too. I thought of a lot of things after he left and there was nothing about that situation, other than the fact that I've never had a security system before. But I'm in an area where there are a lot of sirens going off, which I'm not used to. Then at some point when we get done with the house, I'm gonna be taking trips and I don't wanna have to worry about my house being robbed. I also love the ADT signs and the stickers.
Initially, I had a $2500 system here and I didn't like it. It needed a landline and AT&T screwed me over. They were gonna do voice over internet and it wouldn't work with the system. So, I fired AT&T because they're idiots. I called them four different times and told them that I needed a landline. Then, the guy showed up a month later and said he was putting in a voice over internet. But I told him that he wasn't and that I gave them four times to do it. I also told him that they hire people that have really low IQ or are not listening. It also seems like so many companies don't want to ever be contacted by the customers. We pay them money, but they never wanna speak with us in person. So, they make it really difficult. I spent oodles and oodles of time on hold trying to get through to anybody.
Other than that, I am concerned that if I leave and the dogs are here, then I arm the system and something goes wrong, it's gonna kill my dogs. It's gonna drive their ears nuts, so I won't do that with them here. If I go on vacation, that'd be the only time that I use the system. I go down to Oakland because we're selling a house down there. I stay sometimes for four days and I'll arm the system then. But there won't be any animals in the house. Aside from that, there are no motion sensors, so I don't have to worry about that.
I also have a manual fire thing, the panic button, and the two little key fobs. I was told by their rep that for my benefit, it's just the walk-in doors in the garage and not the garage doors that will set that off. Then, I contacted the city and I paid for a permit. They sent me a code that has to be used for the police if they show up and I've got so many times that I can use it before they start charging me for bad calls. But I still don't know what will happen if I'm away and the alarm goes off.

A lot of my co-workers had ADT and they never had an issue with them and the house where I lived three years prior to my new one, the landlord had them. It was easy to deal with ADT. I did everything online and then we set up an appointment. Then a guy came in and installed everything within an hour. ADT provides different packages, whether you get one with a camera or not and in case of emergency, they normally contact you. My alarm already went on and they called me right away, they left me a voicemail, and somebody called back. I wasn’t able to answer because I was at work, but they contacted the police just in case, which was fine. That’s what I'm paying for. In case of emergency, you probably cannot be reached out right away. But they were kind enough to leave a voicemail and give an update or a quick review of what happened and what time it happened.

I didn't make any commitment until after the rep said everything. He was very upfront and didn't waste any words. I was impressed with that. The installation went well. The installer was really awesome, but I was surprised at the cost because I ended up having to pay $1,300 when I wasn't planning on it. They were over here, so I had to do it. When I talked to the people on the phone, I thought I could afford the system. It might be a little bit more, but not $1,300 more. They also told me that I was going to be getting $1,100 in credit and I wanted that to be well within the cost. When the guy came out here to install, he showed me stuff and there were two different things. I needed it, so I had to pay it in payments, which was $330 for four months. I appreciate that part of it and the installation was good, but that was like a bait-and-switch situation. Other than that, the sales that came out here was good and so was the girl I talked to.
I live way out in the country and we have a problem with animals, including mountain lions. I really needed cameras on the outside of my house and that was the whole reason why I called them. I wasn't too interested in the inside of my house, but I didn't fully understand what I needed and I got more than what I had originally talked about. I got a key fob where I could unlock remotely and all the windows have the window breaks on them. Originally, I just needed to get some cameras outside, but the cameras were going to be way out of my reach, so I just blew that off. Now, I have the basic in here inside the house and I could barely afford it.
Another thing is that I missed the $100 rebate that they do because I didn't realize I only had 30 days and I had to pay a $4.95 shipping and handling fee in order to get it. They say you're going to get a $100 Visa gift card, but then when you read the fine print, you find that you have to send them a check for $4.95 and it better be within 30 days or you're SOL. I got my system installed almost exactly a month ago, so it's too late for me to get my $100. That is a drag because I didn't know it was within 30 days. That seems quick to have to send something in, doesn't it?

But it was really the sales guy that came out, Terrence, that sold us totally on the product and what we needed for our home. He sat down and broke everything down to us where we understood it instead of using technical terms. We used acronyms in the military and he didn’t do that. But when I started selecting the things that I wanted, I ended up paying almost $1,000 and I wasn't prepared for that. But I was hyped about the fact that I was getting the service that I went ahead and paid it, but I was really upset. The guy that came out to install the system said that they could not tell us on the phone and that's not fair. We should know there's gonna be additional money and that the equipment is not included in the package of $99. When I got Digital Life, which I had when I switched to ADT, I didn't pay anything but there was a $99 installation fee.
It started out at 598 just for the basic package, but then I wanted additional camera and it was 299. I was so upset because I really wanted the cameras. If I wanted it, I had to buy it, so I went on and purchase it. But that experience was not good. I was not happy. I found out later that I could’ve kept Digital Life and bought their cameras for 198, which would’ve been way cheaper than what I got right now. ADT also told me that within three years I will have to renew. That's kinda scary because I don't know what they're gonna offer and I don’t know what it’s gonna cost me in three years to keep the service that I have.
I like the system and I'm still learning it. Right now I need to call and talk to somebody because I don't know how to capture. Like if somebody came in my front door, I don't know how to go and find that capture. Also, the camera in my family room is very blurry. If I look through it, you really have to magnify the picture to actually see. It’s very blurry for a $300 camera. Plus, I lost stuff coming with ADT. I lost the connection with my door which was connected to my remote system. It will unlock and lock my doors at 10 o'clock. Also my heater was connected to the remote on the wall and I lost that as well. I was disappointed in those things because I already had it. The CO connector was not added but because I was upset, the tech gave them to me.

The guy had a mask on the whole time.
As far as the features in my system, I have the smart remote. If you forget to set your alarm while you’re in the house, you can do it from your car, or you can disarm it from your car. I have the option of where I set different codes for my daughter, so when she gets home from school, I’ll get a message on my phone letting me know that she made it home because that code is specifically just for her.

We installed Protect Your Home in Greenville and they were terrible. Their guy installed terribly and cameras never worked. We would call them and we could never get anyone to come back after the initial. And when we were moving, the people moving in wanted to just start making the payments and stay on the program and not have anything changed. We called Protect Your Home and they told me that I couldn't transfer it to the people that are moving in. They said they gotta come, take it out, and move it to our new place. All of their reps were terrible.
Then we came to the new house and we waited to install because of COVID. They sent out a terrific guy who did a fabulous job. He was very particular. We had to call back to him and he responded. We're much happier here in Lexington with the crew. I would never have done business with ADT again if it weren't for being in a contract. But we got here, we had to deal with it, and I made it known this was not how we do business. And this particular group of people that I've dealt with here have been wonderful. I hope that continues.

I first called to set up an appointment with ADT and the lady was super nice and efficient. Then, the technician showed up when he said he would and I like him a lot but he should’ve worn a mask. I was kind of surprised that he didn’t walk in with a mask on. It would go a long way if all the technicians were required and if they’re not required to wear them, they should be required. But the tech was very knowledgeable, very polite, and really patient. The price they offer when you get the promotional material is an introductory price, like a very barebones type system, and it’s a little shocking when it goes up. They could be a little clearer about it. And I’m sure it was in teeny-tiny writing at the bottom. Also, I wonder why it’s so much more to have wireless, which is what I ended up getting. The equipment is very similar.

We thought ADT was a better deal from what the one that we had. We told the rep that we wanted the computer. We got Wi-Fi. We asked if it could be connected to our house and they told us yes, but he told us we had to pay another $200, but that wasn’t the agreement. We got Wi-Fi so we would have it on there, like if somebody rang the doorbell we could see who they are. And we made it distinctly that, “If we got the Wi-Fi, would you come and hook it up?” And he told us, “Yeah.” But nobody ever told us about $200 more.
Something should have been explained. He shouldn’t have made the agreement and we wouldn’t be paying more money for Wi-Fi. Why would we pay more money to them if we had went on and got the Wi-Fi? It’s a little cheaper, but that is not why we got it. We thought we would have the system to the Wi-Fi. That’s why we got it from ADT. We're not happy about that. I’m very dissatisfied because everything should’ve been there. Everything should’ve been most efficient and I don’t like the idea how it went.

I’ve been more than pleased with ADT. I never had any problems with them. Their systems work great. Any time I need somebody to come out, they send them right out. Recently, I moved three months ago, so I had to get my system moved down here, and we just upgraded. The guy that came out and did it was very professional. He walked me through every step that he was going to do. He hooked it up, put cameras up for me, showed me how they all run and showed me how to run the system.
The one I had in Oklahoma City was an older system. It didn’t have cameras and it didn’t have internet. But now, I’m all up-to-date and I’m very pleased with them. My wife is too. We both work and we’re gone away from our house, and we can bring it up on our phones now and look at our house and our garage. Maybe ADT could just provide a little more information for people like me. I’m old and I don’t really mess with the computer. That guy that came out put it on my phone for me. I didn’t have to do that and that was very helpful.

I called a couple of different companies before I chose ADT but I was disappointed afterwards. The guy that I talked to told me what I'd be expecting. I told him about a couple of other companies I had talked to where I would have to come out and pay for all the merchandise like the things that go on the windows. He said I wouldn't have to do that with ADT and that usually, it would be $39 a month for what I would need. But when the two guys came out, it was totally different. They went through a whole big spiel trying to sell me all this stuff. By the time they kept having to take stuff off, it was gonna be $4,000 then they took it down to this much and then down to this much. Finally, they took it down to $300-something.
I was very upset about that part. For the $39, it was going to be almost nothing. I almost didn't do it because the experience was like having a car salesman. They say you're gonna get this and then they try to tell you all this other stuff. Then they kept saying they would talk to the manager and see if they could give me this discount and that. I know I was not gonna get anything for free but I was so misled into thinking it was gonna be this and it was a totally different. The guy who came out knew because I kept telling him this thing is not what the rep had told me. He said the rep didn't know and that they're not the ones who come out like them. But the reps on the phone should know what it's gonna cost a customer and what the customer is wanting. Then he had me thinking all this extra stuff was gonna be included. But then he said they would have to take that away and basically, I got almost the basic package.
I asked what about the $39 and they said that's if I don't get it on my phone and it wouldn't be $39. It would be $48. But, of course, you would want it on your phone because it looks so simple to do that. But it should've been a little bit done differently. I wish they'd been more honest. I could've known what I could afford and what I couldn't. I'm a widow and I'm on Social Security. So I was expecting to pay this much a month and that I wasn't gonna have to come out with a bunch of money to begin with but it was totally wrong from what the guy made me believe before they came out. I expected it to to be something more than what the rep had told me but I wasn't expecting him to have been totally dishonest. All he had to do was tell me I would have to pay for the stuff but that they would try to work with me. It's hard to trust anybody and then when somebody does something like that, it makes you feel hurt that those people are lying to you that way.
I decided to go ahead and do it because the guys had come out, spent a couple hours and were so nice. They were friendly and very helpful. So I really hated not to do something since they had gone through all that much trouble. I'm fine with it now. I know ADT has been around for so many years. I know ADT is good and I've got the service I need. I just pay for it and when the contract is up, I may do something else if I'm not satisfied. But as far as the packages, I love having the whole thing on my phone. I can turn it off and on. I also like having the little panic thing. I'm 67 and if I ever fall, it would be great to have. But if I had to do it over, I wouldn't do it because it was bad. And I would advise others what not to do – to not be gullible like me and believe what they say.

ADT's reps don’t give you an accurate description over the phone. I filled out the whole thing online for more information, and a lady called me and said, “Okay, well you’re gonna need your windows.” I asked, “So that’ll put them on all my windows?” She said, “Oh, yeah. You know, you’re gonna have $850 worth of stuff.” She didn’t accurately describe, “Hey, you have to pay $100 per window.” I didn’t know that until the people came out. I thought having all my windows protected was included in the package and it wasn’t.
The installers were amazing. We did a walk through outside the house, in the house, beside it, what were the most important windows to put monitors on because they were $136 per window, how much the keypad was and then finance options because I ended up spending a lot of money. The functionality of the system is really good. I wanted them to come back and do more windows. I feel like it should be a bundle package for the windows because people would pay thousands. $136 a window is a lot of money.
The people that came out to set it up were very helpful and the lady who called me was very friendly. I just feel like I should’ve been given a little more detail on coming out a bit out of pocket. What if I wouldn’t have had that money to spend and then they came here for nothing because I didn’t have $1,800 on an alarm system. They caught me off guard. I knew I was gonna come out of pocket for my cameras but the way it sounded on the phone was I paid for the installation and I have $850 of free products. It would be good to give people a little more detail.

When I was looking in the computer, Googling security cameras and things like that, I wanted someone who would do the installation. Since I recognized the ADT name (we hear it around), I set up an appointment with them. I have another property I don't live at, and I wasn't all that interested in having the house down there, but I wanted to put some cameras in. I had to get an internet connection down there and when I called Xfinity, they told me they couldn't install it the next day or two. They switched me over to ADT, so I made an appointment with them and they canceled the other one I had. When they showed up, the kid went and put the sensors in. I also built this big garage that I needed to include, and he put one sensor in there.
When they charged me, I gave the kid who was installing those stuff a credit card and he ran it through something. The next day, I have a message in the computer saying that there was one cent charged to my account. What does that mean? I just thought that the kid made a mistake. The next day, I got an email that said that I was charged $3. There was also a charge for $100 something to some ** site and I don't watch **. What happened was, whatever this kid ran my credit card on, I was hacked, and I'm getting these charges. I called my credit card company and they said they had to send me a new card. I then got an email saying that since they're sending me a new credit card, my credit card was declined.
The next payment never got on there and I paid ADT from another credit card, but I'm not too happy as far as that goes. Overall, the sensors are okay in the house, but I don't think the one they put in the garage is working, so I have to get in touch with them about that. I've been in the garage a couple of times and the sensor was not lit up, flashing or anything. I've been working around there and I never got any alerts on it either. Another thing is that, I still don't have the cameras, but that's not all their fault because the internet connection needed to hook up a different cable line. Now, I'm waiting for that to happen and that's roughly my experience.

One of the sales pitches was that their representatives or whoever comes in to install would be wearing PPE as far as mask and gloves, and it did not happen. The only thing that I don’t like is when the alarm is tripped, it takes 30 seconds to notify me on my phone. I would like to know immediately when it is tripped and that doesn’t happen. Then, ADT sent somebody out. However, I was misled. I understood that when their technician would come out to install stuff, they were gonna give a $100 gift card. That wasn't the case as I had to send out for it. Plus, I was supposed to have a paper that they were supposed to email to me but then they never did. I had to call but then I was told that there was a website. I went to that website and there was an email address that the site said I should email. I clicked on that, sent them an email and I got a reply saying that was a non-monitored email box and I needed to go somewhere else. That was a disaster.
Regardless, ADT had the equipment I was looking for and their system was just what I needed. The tech did a great job and was very informative. He knew his product and what he was talking about. He was quick too. The lady I spoke to on the phone told me that the techs would come out and do an evaluation. This would take an hour's time and they scheduled a time for them to come back. However, the gentleman who came out said that he needed to get things done today. He did tell me that he would schedule if the time didn't work for me. And usually, we have technicians that are awesome.
Recently, I also got a phone call from ADT stating that I owed money for closing one of my accounts in Florida. I travel and we had a home in Florida. But when I initially spoke to the representatives, they said that I wouldn't have to take care of that because I'm gonna start a new account. Then all of a sudden, they came back saying that I still owe $346. I said it is going to my credit. But that really surprised me. That got me a little bit upset with the services because I've been so loyal. I've been having services for eight years and I've had no issues. I was connected to Protect Your Home through Porch but I was telling ADT that I wasn't interested. I wasn't even closing on my house for another three weeks. Then they ran my credit without even asking so I almost got in trouble with my loan officer. You're not supposed to touch credit when you're in the middle of closing on a house. So that wasn't cool. Also, the advertisement that they had out was that it was gonna be the new digital system with seven sensors for free then a free key fob and a free camera for your doorbell. But all the system that they put in was the really old white one.
When I called about that, the guy from Protect Your Home actually put me on hold and asked somebody. Then he said that the digital systems weren't available in my area at that moment. He said somebody should've told me that the digital systems weren't available so that I could either decide if I wanted the old one or wait until they were gonna be available because they were gonna be available a month later. They installed the system on June 1st and the new ones were available on June 25th but the guy who came to install it didn't tell me that. So I'm stuck with this really old, white, ugly thing that doesn't even connect to my phone. I constantly have to call and get it troubleshooted and it's just frustrating.
It's partly my fault because I should've looked to see what he was doing. But I wasn't even living in the house yet. I was in the middle of moving stuff in my house and I wasn't really paying attention to the system that he put in. I didn't realize that it wasn't the digital system. But it's his fault too because he didn't tell me. He didn't go over the system with me. He went over stuff on the paper and just told me how much I was gonna end up paying. I was supposed to get the seven free sensors for the windows and the door but what he put in were not the free ones. They were the more advanced ones where if you shake the window, they would go off and I didn't realize that. So at the end, he was saying there was $850 of credit towards equipment. I wound up having to pay almost $900 out of my pocket, which I wasn't expecting.
When I sat down and looked at the contract a couple of days later, I saw that he had upgraded me to better sensors without telling me and I wound up having to pay for them all. That was fine. I'm not too upset about it. The price difference really wasn't that big a deal but it's just the fact that he didn't tell me. He didn't tell me that it was an older system and that the sensors were the newer ones. He could've sold me on them if he had told me and I would've paid for them. But he didn't. He just did it without saying anything.
I should've paid more attention when I was right in front of him but you only have three days to tell them that you don't want it. I didn't go to the house until a week later and I realized it was the old system. By then, it was too late to get out. I want an alarm system and I want ADT. I have always trusted them but it really sucks that I didn't get the most upgraded version that was advertised. I would have just gone through corporate ADT if I knew it was going to be this big of an issue. Protect Your Home won't even do anything for me. They won't put in the new system. I would have to pay to have that one installed even though I already paid to have the digital one installed and they gave me the old one. I'm getting the runaround on that.

During the installation, the rep went through his sales presentation when I was expecting an installation. It took us almost two hours to go over the details of what had been committed to me. So, it was a three-hour deal. I finally had to talk to his manager and tell them that if they were trying to upsell me, I already knew what I wanted and if they couldn't do it, they should pack up their stuff and leave. I ended up with an alarm system but with no cameras. I am paying what the person on the phone told me I would be spending, which is $27. Still, the sales rep who came made a presentation for me to pay $60 per month for video.
There's a lot of miscommunication between ADT personnel. Whoever is on the phone does not explain the information properly to customers. We could've avoided a lot of frustration and a lot of miscommunication if the information when I called in initially about getting the system had been conveyed to the installers. It's ADT fault for not properly training their phone rep to convey information to individual remote offices.

I called in the other day because it was saying there was one issue found but when I clicked on it, it was not showing anything. Nobody had called me back. The wait time was ridiculous and when I hit the question mark, I didn't get an answer. So, I was hoping someone would call me back so I can figure out what it is. If I had a chance to start over with this company, I won't.
