ADT is a company that I've known for a while. My parents have it. I trust them because they have been a leader in the alarm system field and they have proven their experience. My sales rep was fine we talked over the phone. But matching me up with the perfect package that met my needs was hard because I didn't have the house yet.
The installation takes a while so people should be ready for that. In my experience, it was kind of a struggle at times because one, I felt like it was way too long. Two, I didn't know that the rep was really hearing what I was saying. He would ask questions but not really listen to the answers. And when I had a number in mind for how much it would cost, he blew that out of the waterpark by over $1,000 and we had to rate it back in. That also extended the experience because we had to work through the "You're not hearing what I'm saying” thing.
But the rep explained what everything did and showed me the newest and fanciest model, which looks great. I told him I just spent a bunch of money on this house and I didn't have a whole bunch of extra to buy the fancy bells and whistles. I just wanted to make sure the house is protected. He explained everything ADT had but just didn't quite factor in the price point in the explanation. I made sure he brought the price down to what I wanted so I'm comfortable now with what I have.
Hello Shawn- Thank you for choosing ADT to protect your home! Congrats on the new home. We appreciate you taking the time to reach out to us to provide your feedback. We will be sure to take the opportunity to improve.

The ADT guy I had, he’s been with the company for a decade and he knew what everything was. I couldn't have asked for a better crew. The installation went well too and the features and functions seem all right. However, I couldn’t figure out how to delete multiple clips at once. So, one at a time is really tedious when there are thousands of them. I just got a notification last week saying that my capacity was full. I went through and deleted as much as I could in about a 10-minute setting. I haven't touched it since ‘cause it’s so tedious, but I don’t know what I’m really gonna do. I don’t even know if it’s actually recording right now.

I looked ADT up on the phone because I knew I needed to protect my home and they were rated number one. I also looked at the reviews and I called them. The first appointment was a no-call-no-show and when I called back, the lady left me on hold for 18 minutes. So, I hung up. I called back and she was trying to reschedule me and reach out to Jason, the no-call-no show guy. I didn't know what she came up with so, I had to call back in.
I told the lady who answered the last time not to worry about scheduling. I would just get a different company. She was saying she was sorry and she gave me an extra $500 to spend. She rescheduled me and said not to send Jason. But after he came to my house, I was satisfied. I called in the other day because it was saying there was one issue found but when I clicked on it, it was not showing anything. Nobody had called me back. The wait time was ridiculous and when I hit the question mark, I didn't get an answer. So, I was hoping someone would call me back so I can figure out what it is. If I had a chance to start over with this company, I won't.

I called around to try and get some different things, and the person I spoke to at ADT seemed to have a better deal. So we decided to go and take a look at it. The interaction was also pretty good too. It was better than expected. With some of the companies I talked to, it seemed like their guy didn't know anything. So at least the ADT had a pretty good understanding of what I was getting and how it would connect.
Then the installer was able to connect more things than we originally discussed. I already have some products in the home. I was with a different security company but I did not like it. I dropped them and the ADT installer was able to use some of the things they had for the new system and it was nice. We have an issue with one of our thermostats that we have to replace it and that’s making things a little difficult. Also, our internet in certain areas isn’t strong enough. But the ADT system works a heck of a lot better than the other thing did. I like the ADT system. Things could always be better but I did not have any issues. In fact, the experience was pretty nice. Working with ADT was easier than expected and it has made my life a lot easier.

I got a flyer in the mail, so I called from them and the sales rep that a dealt with was a darling. I wanted exactly what the special was. But he had to go over all the stuff. It was annoying. I wanna be able to say no once and then be gone with it. So I finally told him that I was not doing anything different than what the card said and that if he wanted me to buy something else, he could go. I don't like to be pushed into things like that. When the installer came, he was wonderful. I have two grandkids so I like the fact that the system is gonna alert me if they go outside the door.

I had regular smoke alarms with ADT before my house burned down because of an electrical fire up in my attic. I had to call a couple of times to cancel my service and those times, I got transferred from one person to another. Somebody would ask me what I needed and then tell me that they will put me to person so-and-so. I had to call back the next day and go through the same series of calls again before they finally got it taken care of.

I was purchasing this house that I’m at right now and somebody called me. We set up a date on my move-in date and the sales rep did good. But I need to see him again because my phone did not give me my email back and I need to set the control center back up too. Still, the functions of the system are good as well as the experience with ADT.

ADT's rep wasn't provided information that I called in on the phone. What the phone rep committed to wasn't what the rep was given. The phone rep I spoke with said that I would get cameras. During the installation, the rep went through his sales presentation when I was expecting an installation. It took us almost two hours to go over the details of what had been committed to me. So, it was a three-hour deal. I finally had to talk to his manager and tell them that if they were trying to upsell me, I already knew what I wanted and if they couldn't do it, they should pack up their stuff and leave. I ended up with an alarm system but with no cameras. I am paying what the person on the phone told me I would be spending, which is $27. Still, the sales rep who came made a presentation for me to pay $60 per month for video.
There's a lot of miscommunication between ADT personnel. Whoever is on the phone does not explain the information properly to customers. We could've avoided a lot of frustration and a lot of miscommunication if the information when I called in initially about getting the system had been conveyed to the installers. It's ADT fault for not properly training their phone rep to convey information to individual remote offices.

I have ADT stuck on every window and I have a door thing and a motion detector. It's good. I feel more comfortable than if I went somewhere else. But a while back, I had to get my system swapped out for some reason. The motherboard died or something. I had to buy a new one and I was out 200 bucks. And they couldn't tell me why it happens. Also, it wasn't the same type as what I had. On my previous one, I was able to arm and disarm on my phone and I can't do that now. I have a little box here that's hooked up to my internet that says I'm supposed to. I'm not really crazy about this new system. But I didn't really have a choice. Other than that, I've never had any problems with it. I've had it for several years and when I had problems, they were resolved quickly.

We chose the company for the reputation, the size of the company, and the support behind it. I wouldn't be worried about somebody being here today and then going home tomorrow, and so far, everything has been good. The two guys who were out here were great. Install was good. Service was good. The after-product has also been good so far. I'm happy with what I got and what I paid for. I got a larger screen control center, the doorbell cameras and the outside cameras. I enjoy being able to look at the camera on my phone, use the cameras and utilize arm and disarm remotely.

We moved into a new development, and we had a contract in principle with Xfinity. Due to COVID and other circumstances, they dropped the ball on numerous occasions, which opened the door to us exploring other opportunities and other options. We happened to receive, four different mailers from ADT with the move-in specials being a new community and based on that and we had a very pushy, local salesperson for a different company that we did not appreciate. So we just explored the opportunity with ADT and enjoyed the customer service experience over the phone.
Everybody's situation is a little bit different, whether you've got pets, whether you've got kids, whether you travel, whether you're home most of the time, or whether you have close proximity to neighbors, all of the things that are contributing factors to potential threats. So it's not a one size fits all and not one security system is good for every situation. So, that dialogue with the security company and a better understanding will give the consumer the best result. And that was where ADT did a very good job. The reps explained everything in detail. We collaborated on what our needs were and they did try and move us towards higher-end purchases. They explained the benefits versus the risks and tried to explain their position. However, when I explained what our needs were, they were very accommodating and not overly pushy.

My dad has ADT and I liked them. It's good to have their security system. When I purchased it, their sales reps broke everything down. If I didn't understand something, they broke it down for me to where I could understand it and how everything went. The prices that I got was also pretty good and I’m a satisfied customer. But at first, they had my address all wrong in the system. It was a good thing that I called and talked to one of the customer service representatives, and she got my address right. Then for the installation, the tech came right away to the correct address with no problem and he installed all the stuff in a timely fashion.
Other than that, I wish that when I first talked to the customer representative she would've explained to me more about the camera. She had me thinking I was gonna get a package where I'd get a free camera. But she didn't tell me that in order for me to get the camera, I had to pay for the upgrade. So, that made me do away with the camera and just get the security system. I kinda felt kinda bad because I wasn’t able to get my camera like I wanted to and I didn't find out until the guy that installed everything explained that part to me. He also said that he had another customer that had that same problem. But it's not a big deal and I’m still gonna get the camera.

The house came with ADT installed already so it was easier to continue. I set up an appointment with them and the rep was knowledgeable. The installer knew what he had to do and he was able to explain the process. He had his equipment ready although he ran out of the key fobs so, we had to reschedule. The system is quite easy to navigate since I’m gonna keep the keypad function to code. I would be able to connect and set up from the phone and I have the regular device detection. The app is a little old compared to the current style but it does its function so, it’s okay.

My sister recommended ADT and I spoke to a couple of reps. They helped me with everything I needed. The installation took a little longer than I expected but it's all good. The first time, the installer was here for about seven hours. When he came back, he was here for probably about an hour, which wasn't bad. I got window alarms, the door alarms, a couple cameras and the switches where I could turn on lights throughout the house through the app as well as some type of alarm on the front porch. I feel comfortable with the system and I enjoy being able to watch my house from work on my phone.

I need the alarm system as soon as possible but now I'm talking to other people and I'm thinking the plan I got from ADT is expensive. Other people have more cameras and gadgets than me and less monthly payment. My neighbor got maybe eight cameras and he didn't pay for one, not even for installation. They were totally free. I might need a few more cameras and also, I haven't gotten the $100 gift card yet from ADT. The installation guy was also a little rude but it was all right. I talked to one of the managers earlier on the phone. The installation guy was charging some extra money for cameras and I didn't know why. He was not telling me clearly. His manager was saying it's free and when I asked him to talk to his manager, he completely declined.

ADT's competitors went up on me four years ago, $10 a month, so I had to talk to them about it and they said a whole bunch of baloney, including it was a better system. I go by the amount of the bill per month and I try to keep what we can afford to keep. We went with ADT. We've had it before and I've always had a good experience with them. I'm happy with it. The rep was nice and he tried to work things out where I could accept them. It didn't take too long to install the system either. It all seemed to work out satisfactory. We're supposed to get a $100 credit card and if we get that, everything will be fine.

ADT's installer was nice and very helpful but then their reps are awful. They're rude and they've had me in tears by the end of every phone call. Plus, they accused me of lying when I tried to cancel their service. It bogged my internet down really badly and I can't use anything else in my house with their system. They said they didn’t receive the notarized letter that I faxed them and the fax machine didn’t print a timestamp on it. Now, they can't take it because there is no timestamp to confirm that I faxed it to them. I have cameras proving that I was at the company that I used to fax it. Plus, I have two managers that were willing to sign off on it. ADT's reps still couldn't process my cancellation.

Some people like the Ring app, but I don't like to be on my phone all the time. A lot of other people like to always be on their phone too, so the Ring app might be better for them. If you don't want to be dependent on your phone all the time, ADT is better off. It works for me. With the Ring app, you see the feed on your phone and I don't know if they call the cops for you, but if I'm gone, I'm gone. I like ADT because I don't have to do anything. They’ll take care of things.
However, if I ever needed it, the response time would be my main concern. I haven't had an issue where I've needed the police to come, but people always say that when the alarm goes off, there's always a delay by the time the police station gets it. There is going to be at least a five minute delay before they get here because it has to go to ADT and then they have to call to confirm that there's an issue. I've been with ADT for two years now and I haven't had any issues with them, so if it ain’t broke, don't fix it. Also, if I need something (like a new sensor), they come down and install it right away.

I had ADT years and years ago. And then when I got married my husband had switched to someone else, and we stayed with them for a while. And I told them I was ready to go back ADT because we were changing addresses too. Everything went well with the switch. The rep answered the questions that my husband had, and that was good. It was a smooth installation.
I had my husband to call because the day when the man came, I was kinda sick. I had him get some answers to some questions. But the only thing he did not ask about was what's the key chain alarm. When I called ADT to get the alarm system installed the rep was telling me all the things I was eligible for since we were veterans. It was free home security and we got something added on to that. They said a hundred dollars visa gift card will be coming later in the mail. He also got the free wireless remote on the cell phone, but the key chain thing we don't have.

I've been with ADT for nearly three years and I've always had problems. The monitoring system always goes down in communication so inadvertently, the alarm goes off. The beeping usually goes off at 3:00 a.m., 4:00 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. My husband and I are both in the medical field, and unfortunately, it couldn't be when we were at work or at 8:00 at night. It had to always be the wee hours of the morning. The rep said that there was some kind of malfunction and I'm actually in the process of getting an appointment to have the whole system changed out.
But if I had known the challenges, how there was going to be communication errors, I would have tried to investigate that further. There's no true way for you to tell that though, unless you speak to a previous homeowner or somebody that lives within the neighborhood. That would be the only thing. In fact, I'm looking, perhaps, at something else to replace ADT. But the customer service is great. They do the best that they can, given the situation. Everybody has been super kind and helpful. The issue has nothing to do with the people. It has everything to do with the technology and the equipment.
Hi Pamela. We are sorry to hear of the frustrating issues with the system. We've located your account and do not see any recent visits for our service technicians to come out and take a look at the system. Please let us know if you would like for us to arrange a no cost visit to have a tech come out? We can set up the job ticket and have our scheduling team follow up with available dates/ time frames. The sales rep that I spoke to was pretty courteous, concise, and friendly. They didn’t try to oversell me on anything. They were pretty honest about ADT’s policies and set-ups. Then the installer that came out was polite. He knew what he was talking about. He explained the pricing and packages. He didn’t try to hide anything. He also gave honest feedback when I had questions on specific packages and equipment, and what was really necessary and what wasn’t. So, that was appreciated. He also demonstrated the system. He went through how to arm and disarm from that home console or that main screen. He made sure that I downloaded the app, knew exactly how to access everything, including saving footage, in my instance, captures, how to delete captures, and how to set up alert contacts.
ADT is based out of Indiana. I live in Indianapolis, so it just made natural sense because a lot of my neighbors have ADT. As far as customer service and installation and overall product, it's fairly typical for a security system. The equipment works as intended. I like the features that they have, their software. The only real issue is it's a little higher as compared to some of the other security systems that I hear about in the advertisements. But I wouldn’t say that that’s a real turnoff to me because ADT offers a lot. I just wish the price was a little bit better. Customer service was about on par with what I would expect. I've had an overall pleasant experience.

I've been with ADT for three years now. What stood out to me was their low price that I was able to get. I have eight motion sensors around the house and the technician that came was very professional and friendly. He lived in the neighborhood and I was new, so he was able to give me a rundown of how the neighborhood is, which was very encouraging. The neighborhood that we moved to was very nice and I didn't think that the security system would've been necessary, but I was getting it to have peace of mind. Somebody who would look to cut corners wouldn't need to get one, but we wanted to do it. However, I would like to add that before I bought my Ring doorbell and my Ring spotlight, I wanted to contact ADT in regards to their security cameras.
I was looking for something that didn't have to be electronically hooked up. Something like solar or battery charged (preferably solar). There weren't too many options on that end and the ones that they offered were priced astronomically. This would've been an add-on, so I understand the cost would've been increased, but it was a lot more than what I was looking for. It swung me to go and purchase the Ring doorbell because it was a lot more affordable, and it did the same thing. One other thing is that I haven't been able to utilize their app fully. I have a very basic package with them, so I don't think I have any access to their app and that would be something nice to have in the future. With access to their app, I could scroll through my zones and just have access to my system.
Other than that, it's been an all-around good experience and we're very happy. My wife says it's a good service, that they are are a reputable and reliable security company. Any time that we've had any issues arise or any sounds or whatever, they were in touch with us. Any time my alarm has gone off and there has been a real issue, I've gotten a call from them, which has been really nice. One time, when the alarm was being triggered, it appeared that it was the same sensor. I called, and they were able to help me identify which zone it was by walking me through on the keypad. That was nice of them to do.

I like the response that ADT has as far as calling authorities. However, my experience with their sales rep over the phone could have been better. They should make sure that the customer is getting everything that they want and speaking to what it is that they do want instead of talking-in-circles 'cause that's what it seemed to me.
The installation experience was okay. I feel I was under the impression that I was gonna be able to use my credit towards my equipment that I got. But then it turned out, he ended up using all my credit for that install that I got and I didn't know about that. But as far as him explaining the system, how it works and everything about the products that we got, that was good. The system is awesome too.

ADT was the most popular one that my mom was familiar with and so we went with them. We got the service due to my dad having a car wreck. He ended up having a bleed on his brain and while he was in the hospital, he had some other issues that caused some brain damage. So he hallucinates, gets very confused and wanders off. We've had ADT for close to three years and other than the batteries, we haven’t had any bad experiences. Even that has nothing to do with ADT. When the battery gets low, I just end up having to come over and change out batteries. I’ve had friends who had different services and they've complained about the companies taking too long to come out and if they fixed something, they didn't fix it right. They've had to have somebody else come back out. ADT is reliable and we haven't had any issues since the technician put all the equipment in. It's just good quality work.

Our ADT is doing all right. I saw it in a ad and then they sent me stuff with coupons. I decided to go with that. I got all the protection on my doors and windows, and it is a good system. But, I got upset because it was one thing written on their ad, and then when they got out here, it was a whole different ballgame. They say I could get it for 27.99 a month. It did not say anything about I had to pay this extra money. I paid $100 something one time, then I paid the guy when he was here. I put it on my credit card. Then I had to pay another $100 something. But I had already signed and I’m going to keep it until the time runs out, and then I’m going get rid of it because the thing he told me was going to be 50 something and it is 55. I don’t like liars. I signed it for 36 months. So, I have to keep it for three years.
Then they were supposed to send me a $100 Visa, but I ain’t got that. I wear glasses and the little bitty writing was on a paper and my son told me, “Mom, you should’ve read that little bitty writing. I bet all the stuff you are complaining about is on it”. The guy also said that it was wireless, and then he had come in here and made a hole in my wall. I just had put up these new sheetrock, and then he did not clean the mess up. He left it. It’s all right though. I wanted the camera thing too, but I would have had to pay $385 that day, the 3rd of June. He got it on my doors, then he got the sensor in case somebody tries to break a window. I love that. My neighbor has the system as well.

As far as the service is concerned, I’m very happy with it. I like their cameras too. However, they went into a higher technology system and I appreciated the old one better. I don’t care much about the wall panel. It had a personal effect to it and I really used to like that. I could see on my phone if I went in, and I could see my house, but now I can’t see anything. I called ADT and told them I did not like this wall panel that they have now, but there wasn’t very much or nothing they would do about it. Also, I don’t like it because I can’t record. I don’t even get any alert that someone’s at my front door.
The other system used to do that. Now, it just has the walkup to the screen. I have a touch screen, which is okay, but it just takes a picture of whoever arms it and disarms it. That’s one thing they added. Other than that, it's okay and they respond very well. I had a smoke alarm that was going off and they called immediately. I was very pleased with that. My friends and family has ADT as well.

The ADT sales rep was very convincing and persistent and the install was fast, but it wasn’t high quality. The connectors on the doors were falling off because the installer used adhesive instead. They said if the door surface looks cool, they just use the adhesive. But I don’t think that’s a good look. Just to be safe, screw those sensors down so they won’t move. They had to come back out and reset those. He screwed them down and I haven’t had any trouble since. Also, the response for readjusting was quick.

Can you guys come fix it?” They tried to help me fix it over the phone. But I’m not gonna fix that **. I told them to come rewire it. I was the one who went down on my crawl space to run the ** wires. What did I pay them for? Nothing.
Then the tech hooked it up and it worked for one day and then didn’t work after that. And then I call, “Hey, come fix it.” They said, “Oh, did you try this? Did you try this?” So I said, “Forget it,” and that I wanted to opt out of the plan. I paid 600 something dollars for a three-year plan and didn’t even use it. After two years they were sending me bills saying, “Hey, you gotta pay, you gotta pay ‘cause you didn’t tell us to cancel your thing, it’s automatically enrolled.” So ADT to me is probably the most piece of ** company I’ve ever dealt with.

When I talked to the ADT sales rep on the phone, they said they were gonna throw in this and that but I didn't feel like they painted a good picture on what to expect on the cost of everything. When time came for the installation, it was gonna be this astronomical number that's way outside the realm of what I could ever do. That was a little disappointing. I was weighing ADT against SimpliSafe and a couple of other competitors and the cost is like night and day. And I know ADT to be the highest in the industry, but it was a significant premium to end up going with ADT. I wish the guys who made the initial call with me gave me a better deal or prepared me.
I thought we could afford to get more sensors and things like that and getting smacked with a big bill to feel decently protected was a bit of a shocker. I felt like I had to get creative with our installer to feel covered in a basic sense. I had planned on adding a camera and having all these various other things that we're just going to have to wait until I don't know when. But the installation process and the guy who installed it all were good.
There was one hiccup when we got a power outage notice. When I called, they said they couldn't see it on their side. I got like an email saying there was less than 5% power outage in our neighborhood and because of this, the unit wouldn't be able to report a break-in. I called up and they walked me through rebooting the system. Other than that, everything has been working pretty good.

Everything with ADT so far is okay. The sales rep has been very cooperative and very nice. And everything was installed in one day. But I noticed sometimes if I slam the cabinet door too hard the signal will go off and say garage door opening. My kitchen is not that far from where he put the electronic thing on the wall. So I figured that’s what’s picking it up. But overall the system is making me feel a little bit more secure.

My experience with ADT began in California back in the '30s. They were a different company then and then they sold out and eventually ended up as ADT. Then, I retired and went out here in the boondocks of Oklahoma. There's no neighbor a mile away and I felt like we needed some protection. I went with ADT because they're a large company. It gives me a little peace of mind knowing I have a burglar alarm. So far as security is concerned, I've got no complaints. The county seat is 17 or 18 miles away from me and there are not that many deputies patrolling the counties. ADT is very prompt about calling them. The other day, I came back to the house and I had grocery stuff. Instead of going straight to turn off the alarm, I didn't and the next thing I know, I was getting a phone call from ADT telling me that the deputy was on the way.

Initially, we started with Guardian, then I changed. ADT has been there for a long time, so I went with them and the installation was smooth. So far, it’s been reliable and they’re good. There are lot of people competing and there’s a price war out there. These guys are keeping up for the prices and you get the same benefit. If you’re trying to cut corners, price will be a major factor to determine that. Xfinity is there offering low prices and there is Ring services as well. They’re offering monitoring and recording at a very low cost and everything is there. They charge $10 a month. Why should I pay $40? You get the same service. The linked monitor service is going to call you, call the cops. If they detect unusual activities, they’re going to call you. There are so many things they do. It is linked with your doorbell. There are quite a few features with Ring, so we get all the features in Ring.

ADT is like the first of the first of the first of the first. As a result, I had heard of it and for years, I had been saying I would get a system and try whichever. I went to my phone company but I wasn’t satisfied. I toyed around all of these years and then I said I'll get ADT. I would go to the best of the best and be through with that. It’s like a man. You date around and then you finally find the right one.
The salesman was really cool and I loved my service. He was really good, walking me through the whole process, except for the fact that I ended up with too many alarm systems. He left me three fire alarms which I did not need. I did need the one fire alarm and the one I have works perfectly fine. Three is just too many. I really wish I can make that modification. I started to call back but I didn't wanna get him in trouble. I just said I really don’t need three fire alarms and it’s really too much money. I really wish I wouldn’t have gotten the three. That’s my only problem. ADT has excellent service and I love everything but the fire alarms.

ADT's was pre-installed in the house that I purchased. In the first year or so, things were fine. One time, the battery ran low. The battery beeping noise was so terrible for my dog then that I had to figure out how to get it to stop. I ended up having one of ADT's techs come out and look at my system. However, I specifically asked ADT to send someone out to look at my system and that I would have preferred not to install anything new. Instead of utilizing the existing system though, they ended up giving me an additional wireless service. Now, I have two different spots in my house for ADT's system. There is one that is inactive from when the home was built and the other which the tech guy installed. The wireless things he put in are not hardwired and I can remove that myself. I've done that in several spots as I've needed to in order t o make modifications.
The system has been functioning well so far. Whenever it beeps, I know where the specific alarms are. I know that if I hear something, something's going on. So, it makes me feel a little bit safer. Being with ADT has been easy and convenient. Still, it would have been nice for ADT's tech to tell me what was happening or to have attempted to work on my existing wiring.

ADT works. Once in a while, one of the doors will not latch properly, so it'll swing open in the wind and the police will show up -- sometimes I don't even talk to the dispatcher because they don't get ahold of me, so they send the police. They are very quick to respond. The quality of the system is fine. When we moved to this system, the other system had been 10 years old in the other house. So this has all kinds of wi-fi enabled things, more battery backup and more remotes that came with it. In this house, we never had any issue with customer service when we reach out. But, in the other house, I was not happy -- we had problems with the system and they could not get somebody to come in and address the system before we left on vacation.

I had ADT for my other house and I recently moved. Since I'm a construction project manager, we couldn't make our appointments or call. So, the installer was supposed to be here at 11:00 but he didn't get here until 2:00. When he got here, my daughter was by herself. She called me and said, "Dad, I'm concerned. There's three men in my house now." So, the guy was here. He called somebody else, and then they called another guy. I've done this before. You don't need three men to do this install. I had to leave my job early.
Those guys were still here at 6 o'clock at night. The guy was incompetent. He didn't know what he was doing. He didn't finish and couldn't get my key fob to work. He didn't get my back door done and my door lock wouldn't work. I could not lock my door. So, he left without even telling me. It was my fault. I should've told him, "Let me try this door lock," but it was not my job to do that. He was supposed to put the door lock in and then show me how they operate it, but he did not. Come nighttime, I went to lock the door and that's when the fun began. How was I supposed to go to work? Leave my front door open?
The guy was supposed to come back the next day. I took the next day of work off because I was not having that same fiasco from the day before. He said he would be here the next day. Guess what? He never showed up. I sent him text messages, "Hey, brother, where you at? I really need to do things. I can't sit in my home all day because I cannot leave my door unlocked." I could have fixed it, but I didn't want to touch it because then I would void the warranties and they would say it was my fault. So now, came the next day, nothing from him. I tried to do things the right way to try to help him out. I sent a message, "If you don't respond to me within the next half hour, I'm calling your boss. I'm calling ADT." No response.
So, I called ADT. I got on the phone with them. "Let me get a manager for you." I didn't want anything. I wanted out of this contract. I am not dealing with their incompetent people. I missed three days working. They gave me three months of the $59. That was an insult to me. I'm a construction project manager. I make 389 a day.
Then the following day, they sent sent the same moron back to my house. Again, it took him forever to finish it up and my back door still does not make contact on it. I am very dissatisfied. I was out three days pay and had to sit home. That was the worst part. Because how am I going to leave my house? And still, my back door has no contact. And now, I have to call ADT because two of my cameras outside aren't infrared. The camera in front of my driveway at nighttime is pitch-black. And the one by the back porch is completely black because it's not infrared. With the light on, you can see. It's insane. He put the improper cameras outside of my home.

When I called the first time and told ADT about what I needed in the house, they gave me some credit. They told me they wanna give me some motion sensors in the house and some keys to disconnect the alarm from outside. When the person came to install, he didn't want to do that. He put the sensors in the windows and the doors. He then said that he'd make it ready for $2,000. I was then told that they would install what we need, which was what I got. The installation was fast. We missed some door covers and the motion sensor, but it was an easy fix. I’m really happy right now.

We have beeping and it is not conducive to sleep or calm. The system says there’s an error and you got something in the dining room, but there’s no equipment in there. I paid for the equipment and I own it. I know I’m not getting my money back. But that doesn’t mean we have to monitor it. So if we can’t shut it up, then I’ll just quit being monitored.
I wanted something straightforward and basic. I don’t need my cellphone to tell it what to do while I’m away in Australia. I just wanna push the button when I leave the house and it’s protected. We went through the whole drill about motion protectors and sensors. ADT did a very good sales job of giving me the slack to figure out what I wanted and did not want and why, and we got along well. I made two other calls before I talked to ADT because in general principle, national companies can sometimes be less responsive. ADT does not have a great reputation in that regard. But I figure everything is local anyway if you got a good crew locally.

The sales representative answered all of our questions and provided us with the necessary information to get us started. The installation went very well. We really liked the guy a lot. However, two days after we put in our new system, we got a letter from ADT saying that we'd be able to get the same service that we have now except for less money for a year. What we got was a gift card for $100 dollars. In order to get that, I have to send in information and pay the $4.95 "shipping and handling" to the MPELL. Then the gift card itself was only a $95.05 or $94.05. There's an installation fee of $99. So then that made it so that it wasn't really a free install. It would have been a free install and less money if I'd have waited two days. That was kind of a bummer.
Did I really get the best deal? Probably not, but I wanted the service. I felt like they upgraded us because we were previous customers. We have door sensors and a motion detector. And so, maybe we got an extra something that the package deal two days later would not have included. I would tell whoever I recommended it to to talk with the person to make sure that it's the best offer available out there. There might be an opportunity if there is something else out there for the salesperson to be able to give that if it's out there. But we didn't know and we didn't ask. I'm very satisfied with the service overall.

We almost didn’t even get the security system and the installer was ready to pack up. Then we decided we were gonna go with it, so he unpacked everything. He was fantastic. We kept him at the house for a very long time. I was unsure of what the prices were of each service and we were asking him questions about prices and things like that. That was something that I could have looked at on a piece of paper and decided for myself what the best plan was and whether we could move forward or not. But he was very understanding to all of our questions and very patient with us and had a good temperament. They told me that the system was gonna have the little camera on the door but when the system was installed, they didn't do that. Other than that, it’s got the app where you can do it remotely, which has been very, very handy. We’ve already had to use that to cut it off. The wind on the back porch was really strong, blew over a very light cabinet and it went against the window. It didn't break it, but it jarred it enough to set the alarm off. So it did its job. I’m also pleased with dispatch. They came out quickly. It’s good to know that if there is something, they'll be out quickly, and that the alarm will do what it was intended to do.

I like the chimes that ring on the inside of your house but I couldn’t get that type of connection with ADT. They said there are no more hidden charges and that’s the only thing which I needed to pay. But I was shocked to hear from the person who came to install. The discussions with him were not that great. It was a pushy kind of discussion. When I said 27.99 is what I was expecting, but then, 53.99 is what it was costing. Then, I almost told no to installation. But then it was not his fault. In the end, I took it, even though the prices were higher than what I was planning for. I was expecting more from ADT because it's like the leaders in the security space, compared to what Ring or SimpliSafe, or Nest are currently offering. But, it's not a great experience and since I was bound by the contract, I’m going to stick to it now.

The sales representative was very helpful. I was with Brinks before and I didn't have to pay for the camera system. But with ADT, I have to pay the camera system for $907. I told them that we didn't have a contract and I never seen or signed a contract. They just came in and installed the cameras. But now, they're trying to get me to pay for them. So it would help me if they could come down on their cameras a little bit. The same representative that came to explain to us was the one that installed everything. So far, I haven't had any problems.

ADT was part of a package that I received from buying my home. It was a porch package. I like the security. The sales experience was really smooth. It was a pretty easy process. As far as the installation, everything was really fast. The installer did a really good job. I appreciate all the help he did. Go ahead and choose ADT. It's a really good package. They have good programs.

The rep from ADT was very knowledgeable about the product as well as the guy who came here for the installation. The installer was very friendly and he went over all the features of the package. There’s a lot out there and you just have to be able to know what you need for your home. They will discuss all options with you. The only thing I would suggest is that it be mandatory for ADT installers to come in and already have their masks. I kinda stood at the door and I was like, "I guess you can come in." He did say if I told him to go back out and put things on he would.

I have been thinking of protecting my home. When I called to set up utilities and my internet with BGE, they kept passing me on and eventually I ended up with ADT. I was thinking of going with them anyway because my dad used them in his house and really liked it. Everyone at ADT was really kind and respectful. They have a very good vibe and were very easy to communicate with. The person who I initially talked with was really great. She put me on the phone with one of her supervisors who got me another discount or waived some sort of fee because I’m a new grad student. They helped me set up the appointment.
The tech who did installation was super awesome. He went over costs with us, and I wanted to think about it. He said, “Sure, but then I won’t be the one coming back.” We liked him so much we wanted to make sure he got the commission. We didn’t want him to be punished for not making the sale just ‘cause I wanted to think about it. He also said anytime I need to call, he'd be there to help whenever. My ADT experience was really easy. While it is pricey, so are other places, and it’s really good quality.

The rep showed up, showed me all the equipment, told me what all it did and what it was. He showed me the packages that were available for what was already paid for and then also additional things as well if I wanted to get those. We picked out what was gonna be best for me and my girlfriend. The installer was relatively pretty quick. He came and did the sale and install, all at the same time. I like the electronic locks and being able to use the app so that I can activate the system without having to be at my house and check if my front door is locked after I leave.

ADT is a well-known name, plus we had them previously and had good service. Sales and customer service reps were excellent. They were very professional, very courteous, and friendly. Installation took a couple of hours. The tech was very thorough. He even brought a chart and some things that we weren't aware of the first time around that they didn't go over with us. It really made a difference.

ADT is well-known in the community that we live in. I chose them for the reputation that they have and ADT has been reliable. My experience has been comfortable and safe. My only suggestion would be to be a little bit more transparency in the initial interaction with customers. The person that I spoke with on the phone was not very forthcoming with information and he made it seem like all we needed to do was have that person come in and do the installation. He told us that it would be a certain price. He gave us the range for the monthly bill. That, we were aware of but he didn't let us know that there would be all these additional prices in the event that we chose to do some of the add-ons that we actually did. He made it seem like all the equipment was included and there would be no additional fee.
We were caught off-guard when Cortez started to give us the information. When Cortez told us what we would need for the house initially, they were looking at us spending almost $2,000 until we said we didn't need those things. We knocked it down to about $300. It was something not planned for but we did realize we needed it for the home. So we decided to do it. Overall, we had a very good experience with Cortez.
He was an amazing salesperson. He was very informative. He knew what he was talking about. He gave suggestions about what he thought we needed based on the setup of our home and what he didn't think we would need. There was one item that we wanted that we weren't able to afford at the time and he told us what the process is for adding it at a later date. He was very patient while we went back and forth with my mom. Although the person that I spoke with on the phone and who set up the appointment was very misleading, the experience with Cortez made it a little better. Plus the system is a good one and it's very user-friendly.

I had Vivint and was not satisfied with their service. The equipment never really worked and we had issues with it. It was the same troubleshooting over the phone anytime I would call. I had the doorbell that has a camera and some clips broke on it. So, we called and told them and they started telling me that the equipment was not under warranty and that I would have to cover the price plus the tech fee, which was gonna be about 50 bucks. The equipment was gonna be another $250 and if I’ve got to pay that much, I might as well see how much it was gonna cost to pay out the contract and go with somebody that I am satisfied with, which was what I did. ADT was number one with my search so I went with them.
I got somebody on the customer service line on a weekend and they explained their packages, how they do the installs and the fees. They explained that if anything breaks or anything happens, the equipment is warrantied. If there is a tech visit needed, it’s free. So, that sold me. I had ADT in the past at a different location and I was fine with the service then so, I went ahead and set up a consultation for them to come out and do the install. I had somebody on the phone that weekend so, it was quick. The young man that came over didn't take very long at all in installing the panel and the other items that we were doing inside the house. He was also very nice although he was a little scattered. We were gonna do the cameras outside and he realized that he had forgotten or left the wire that they use. He had a previous job so he came back the next day and finished it out.
The door locks that I currently had on there were not compatible with the ADT system, which wasn’t his fault, but when he came back the next day, he was supposed to stop and get the door lock and he forgot. So, after that, I had to call ADT and have them send somebody else out because he was going on some sort of medical leave. So, that was the only little inconvenience about the back- and-forth. But other than that, it was good all in all. I'm happy with all the equipment that I have and the panel is easy to use, so I don't have any issues. I like having the cameras outside, which I didn't have with Vivint. It’s nice to be able to look into the backyard, see the pool and make sure everything's okay.

ADT had the wider domain and we had gotten a promotion because of a new home of certain amount of items or credit. So I called and scheduled them to come out. My sales experience was a little surprising because what they advertised as far as this was promotion made it sound like you get a whole system but by the time they written up what they evaluated what they thought you should have, it ended up coming back at a price of $9,000. But I told them to take some things off, and then they put everything that they could possibly put in the home. So we did get it, but still, it cost me more than I thought I anticipated on spending.
They are very expensive compared to so many places that are out there, even the ones that you can install yourself. But I take responsibility. I should've done more research end to end. Because they have you sign, a two or three-year contract with them. After they do the installation, they tell you about that. But for the name that they have, their price should reflect that. Their equipment is very, very old. I was told yesterday that they won't have new systems until at least the end of the year.
The young man that did the installation was very knowledgeable. He was supposed to come out the next day but it took him two weeks to get back out here. He told me that he needed to take a vacation, but I needed my door thing done. But he was a very pleasant young man. I have his cellphone number and he said I could call him directly if I have any problems.

I paid a fee of 108 for the tech to come out. I got billed two more times like that same amount, and I wasn’t supposed to. Then I’m supposed to pay it through September to pay for the equipment. It’s 300-something dollars from when I had it installed and then per month from when I had it installed up through September. I was charged that twice. My monthly charge is only supposed to be 60 bucks, and it’s like coming out at 118. So, my billing’s all screwed up.
But the ADT rep was so awesome. He came right to my house. I made the appointment and they were there the same day. When he got it all set up, he had it set up perfectly. Everything was working, but then he mentioned I could move the interior camera from one room to the next. He gave me directions, but I couldn’t find them. But that’s what I did. I just moved the camera from a different room from where he had the setup inside, and so I haven't had a chance to get it reconnected.

One day, I got a postcard in the mail from ADT offering the service for 29.99 with free camera and it kinda hooked me. 29.99 sounded affordable so, I talked to my husband and he said to call them. So, I did and they came out. They upgraded everything because I had old equipment in here. So they put the new cameras and I got all the bells and whistles. It was a few years ago and we got into a financial depletion somewhat and I had to cut down on the budget, and ADT was one of the ones that I had to cut. So, they reduced it because of my financial hardship, but then it got to where I couldn't even afford the reduction. But it was very nice of ADT to do that. We got back on our feet a little bit and my husband got some work but then, I just never bothered hooking back up for some reason. I should've gone back but I just let it go.
This time, I said that if they want my business back, I want all the bells and whistles and they complied. Everything went good but I did not know, when they came out, that the 29.99 is their base. Being old and not understanding things, I thought I was getting all the bells and whistles for 29.99 but the guy was nice enough to explain everything. According to ADT, I would be paying 59.99 now and husband said to go through with it and see if we can afford it. Right now, I'm at the high-end of ADT, which I won't know for about a few months or so if I can really afford it or not. But I understand I'm under a three-year commitment with it. I gotta try to afford it for three years, which kinda upset me, but I'm the organizer and the financial planner here, so I'm foreseeing hopefully we'll be able to afford for three years without them taking me to credit.
I'm gonna keep trying it, plugging away and see how it goes. Maybe if I run into a financial bind, they will help me out a little bit like they did before. They knocked $10 off till we got back on our feet. We'll work through it but we did want to have all the cameras on and the vision because the 29.99 was just base. It would give you the alert and that's it. There are a couple of things that bothered me, but we got through them and everything's on top now.

I got approved over the phone with ADT and then, they said I got approved with the equipment. The guy came and I thought he was just coming to do a job. He was here for four hours. The first two hours was a waste of time, walking around the house with me, asking what I need not realizing after that he was gonna try to sell me and give me a price. I told him that I just wanted the normal price when I called on the phone before he got here. He wasted my whole day. I should have canceled it but my wife said to just keep it. We know better next time.
I didn’t get everything I thought I was gonna get with ADT. I just got my door and the sensors, which makes no sense. I hate it and it was technically trash. I didn’t get my windows protected so now, I see people selling their equipment or window stuff on eBay and I have to go buy that just to contact the guy to come hook it up because if I buy it through ADT, I gotta spend way more money. I should have just gone with Vivint and it would have given me all of that.

The call is recorded. Tell me a little bit about what made you decide to go with ADT was offered to me when I was going through National Grid when I was setting up my gas account. I love the person that did the installation. He gave me his own personal number to call him if anything went wrong and if I had any questions. He has been absolutely wonderful. The actual ADT customer service, however, when I called to try not to bother him at 11 o'clock at night, did not know what they were talking about. I had a simple question, and they could not answer it. I ended up calling my installer and he said, "That's why I gave you my phone number." The kid was reading off of a piece of paper and was not answering my question. And I called two different times, got two different people and they still couldn't answer my question. So, they didn't have the knowledge that they should have.
Nevertheless, everything seems easy to use, like they gave us a key fob. We have the app, too. It is easy to go online and look at your bill and set up auto pay. I will be calling someone to come and look at my sensors because we started redoing work in the house, so the sensor got moved. So now, the alarm is not turning on because it thinks that someone tampered with it. So, I had to call someone to come in when we are done doing the work. But, other than that, there has not been any issues. Make sure you get a good installer that knows what he is talking about.

The rep that I dealt with over the phone was really good. The home rep was good too, but there was something that was discrepant from the initial point of sale. From my understanding, I was supposed to only pay a $100 fee for install and I would get the money back in a Visa gift card. But I haven’t gotten the gift card and I also ended up paying $300 to the technician and I wasn’t quite sure why. What was the additional $300 for if I was already paying for the install?
I asked for the cameras initially on the point of sale since I already had the regular monitoring system. The camera feature was important. So I got one camera and I have a doorbell. My husband got frustrated and asked them why they didn’t tell us all this upfront. I didn’t have time to call customer service back to question it because the process was so long. The tech explained everything well but it was an unexpected expense that I wasn’t prepared for.
The tech went over everything. He did a walk-through with the exception of my upstairs. He kinda gave me an idea of the most commonplace and how break-ins may occur and where you will probably want the system. Everything was great until he came down with the $300. That was the last thing that kinda got me because I was ready to not go through with it because they should have told me everything upfront so I can make an informed decision. So there was a gap in the whole process. Overall, the service was great but there was lack of communication.

I love ADT. I came back because it’s very handy. It’s in the new with the technology. This time, the experience was good. They told me that I didn't owe anything. However, I did owe on my account, which I would've paid off at the time if ADT gave me that information and the account could have still been in my name. But the rep said that there was nothing on his end that he could see, and in order for me to turn it back on, I had to get it in someone else’s name. Which initially made me think, “Okay. Well, then that means I have a bill,” because I know I have a bill, and I said that. But he said he didn’t see anything on his end, so I ended up having my fiancé put it in his name so that we can get the coverage. And I still owe that bill, but now I don’t have the money to pay it.
The installer did great. He explained everything to me. I have updated touch screen, so I love that as well. The only thing was, I expected a key fob and I did not get one. I don’t know if it was because we all connected our cell phones with the app is the reason why we didn't get a key fob, but I know I was told I was supposed to get one. But other than that, the installer was very kind. He walked us through the stuff with how to use it. He set everything up.
I love that the installer took down my old monitor. The last people that came left it out and added sensors that go on the windows. So, he took all of the extras down and left out just what we needed. That’s good. He was very patient because I was very tired. He gave me awareness of everything that went on. He didn't put the signs up because I already had signs up, and I’m okay with that. I just have two extra signs in case the wind blows them over or they break. I’m happy that he left me those signs for the future.

The old provider was in my husband's name and we divorced a month ago. I was looking for my own system and I had nothing against the old provider but the rates were better with ADT and so, I went ahead went with them. I called customer service on Monday concerning the alarm system. When you open the door, it should automatically say garage door open but when I do, it's a two to five second lag time. The rep told me there's a two-second lag time and that was fine but I would prefer it to be real-time. When someone is opening my door, I wanna know it that moment. I don't want two seconds later to tell me someone's at my door. Worst case scenario, it could be a thief. He's two seconds ahead of me already, so I don't like that.
I asked ADT if there is any way they could send someone out. He told me that there was nothing they could do because it's a back-end communication system with a sensor and the keypad. That was not the answer that I was looking for because I left my old alarm company to go to ADT. People speak highly of them so I'm upset that the rep said the two-second gap is normal. My life is important and that does not sit well with me. I'm a single mom now and newly divorced. My husband's not crazy but I'm home alone now by myself and my daughter sleeps upstairs, and I don't want anybody breaking to her window and I'm two seconds plus behind into her.
I hear, when I'm on hold, that every millisecond, a house is broken into. So every second counts, if it's between me and a robber. Nobody is willing to fix it and they're okay with it. So I'm considering going back to my old alarm company because there was no lag time and it’s not a good excuse to tell any customer, especially if it's security-related, that a few seconds is okay.
I've only had their system now for about 21 days. So, I'm gonna call again to let them know about the lag time. I'm disappointed that the tech who installed it didn't recognize and did not hear it. But I had four different people in my house doing things so it kinda was like I heard it but then I didn't hear it. Now that I've been in my home by myself, I'm hearing it. I'm going back and forth with customer service on trying to get it fixed. I called because I want them to fix it and I also want it documented. If somebody does come in my house, I want it documented that I called and tried to get this corrected but they are not willing to do it. Right now, I feel somewhat not safe because I don't like the delay.

When I had a home before, I had Brinks which was bought by ADT. Now that I just bought a house and I feel more secure if I have a security system. When I first started calling I didn’t like it because it was high pressure to give your social security number and I kept explaining to them that I hadn’t gone through a closing yet. They tell you that you need to leave everything alone until after you close. They didn’t seem to understand that. I was just trying to get an appointment after my closing so that I could have them to come in very quickly and install the system. They wouldn’t give me an appointment without doing my social security.
Installation was horrible. The tech came in a new house with new carpet. He did not wear shoe protectors. He did put on a mask, and it was later determined that he had the coronavirus. He kept on pressuring, trying to get you to pay the higher fee. He wanted to put the system anywhere he wanted to on the wall, and I told him, “No. You will put it where I say it goes or else you could leave.” They don’t put them near the front door necessarily any because then he said he would have to drill and do all of this. They wanted to go through the cell phone which costs more. I have a landline and he would say that if he had to it through the landline that he had to put it near an outlet.
I was trying to find a place where I can live with it going because he wanted to put it in the middle of the living room wall. Then he wanted to put it on a desk stand. He ended up putting it on the second floor, in between a second bedroom and a bathroom and a third bedroom. He finally got the message and he’s constantly quoting all of this stuff, “Well, if you get this, you’ll end up paying 58.99 a month.” I said, “I’m only paying 27.99 because you don’t have to tell me anything else.”
I was a new homeowner, and they will install $850 worth of stuff, and you could pay the $100 but they didn’t tell you you’re gonna have to pay taxes on the $600. So each time it’s going up. In the end, you get a $100 gift card but you have to fill out all of these papers later on and send a check for 4.95 and then they’ll send you the $100 gift card. They should also be honest and upfront. I was supposed to get two of a keychain out, but they just give you these little things that are on nothing and you’re supposed to put them on your little keychain, which they don’t fit because there’s no little wire thing on it, it’s just hard plastic. Then they’ll tell you you only get one. But on the paper it says it comes with two.

Over the years, everybody knows about ADT. My relatives had it and my grandma had it before she passed. I spoke to one of their reps and what I was told over the phone was completely different from the review before I got them here. It was supposed to be no charge but it eventually cost me about a couple of hundred dollars to buy a camera. Other than that, things were pretty much straightforward. But I did not get my $100 credit card that I was supposed to be getting. I did fill out the papers and sent out the information but I still haven’t received it.
The salesperson did an excellent job. Unfortunately, there was not a follow-up to see how things are going. We had a lot of questions after he was gone and we were on our own, from a clarification perspective, from a process procedure. Shutting it off, when we started to do it ourselves, it’s somewhat different than getting an overview. From a procedure perspective, it’s more user-friendly online than it is on the wall. Overall, I am happy but I am not satisfied because they said I can wait until 30 days and get the doorbell ring for half price. Why not just give it to me half price and be done with it? It’s cheaper for the company. It’s cheaper for me to take the 50% and do it now. Other than that, I’m at the point where I think it’s beneficial to have security. I've been thinking about it for about 20 years. From that perspective, the timing is perfect and that I could afford it is perfect. I'm a retired person, so I’m on a budget income. I’m paying $58 a month for the service.

I thought these people that were gonna come were from ADT. Plus, I wanted cameras. When I called and asked them about the cameras, they said that I have to pay $300 for each camera then my payment would go up. I told them that I would have to think about it. The company that came in was Impel. Then, they said that they would almost give me $2,000. I'm gonna get a discount. But bottom line, I had to pay $500 something for the cameras. They changed the equipment, like in the front, and they gave me three extra cameras plus included the installation so that was fine.
I never got a real price from the salesperson maybe because I wasn't sure of how many cameras I wanted. Then, both the salesperson and the other company were telling me that they would give me a certain amount of money because I already had monitors on my windows, so they didn't have to do a big job. I'm pleased with the job. However, I was hoping they'd tell me that this is what it’s gonna cost me. ADT has six operation centers and I compared it with Brinks. Brinks only has one center and if their center goes down, then I’m out of luck. They are a little cheaper, but I’d rather have better protection. I was looking for which was more reliable, and to me, ADT was more reliable. They were easy to work with and to talk to. They explained everything clearly to me. The installer installed the system pretty cleanly. The installation took about 30 minutes. The rest of the time was mostly him going over everything with me step-by-step and how things work and showing me how to operate everything.

The salesperson talked ADT up and was professional. And then the guy that came out and installed our thing was really nice and explained everything to us as much as he could. That's why we went ahead and did it. He explained the system to us. He left us a pamphlet and gave us a phone number to call if we had any problems or anything like that. However, I don't know if the technician was new or because of where we put the camera or the doorbell ringer, but it just took a long time. He was there for five hours. And then, within two days, the camera in the front, which is the doorbell ringer, stopped working completely. So I called ADT and they sent somebody out. First, when I called them, I said, "This isn't working. I'm having trouble with the camera in the back. It's not staying online. I want y'all to come get the system. I'm just having too much trouble with it."
They sent somebody out to pick it up and the guy got there and said, "No, I'm not here to pick it up, I'm here to service it." "Okay, fine. Go ahead and service it. See if you can get it to work." He said, "I see what the problem is, it's that your technician came out and failed to charge the doorbell before he installed it. So charge it for 45 minutes and just put it back on. I'll show y'all how to do it." So I did that, 45 minutes, by Sunday, it was out again.
So I called again on Monday. I was upset and I told them to just come get the system. At that time, they said it was too late. I could not do that because I had not called them within 72 hours to get it taken away. So, I said, "Okay." I talked told my husband that there's nothing we can do. We signed a contract. The second gentleman that came out to fix it explained to us that it could be the power in our doorbell, that we may not have enough power there, and that's probably why it's not staying charged.
Our transformer was probably too weak. I called back and told the lady, "Give me a camera for the front. I understand from this person that the transformer is too weak and it's not gonna work. It's gonna keep discharging." When I told my husband what happened, he called an electrician to come out and the electrician put in a larger transformer enough to charge the camera. So now, everything is working, but I had to make an extra expense to pay for the transformer. And then on top of that, we were days without the service. And it's all noted.

The sales rep of ADT was pretty nice. She was doing her job trying to sell me the product. She did a decent job. The installer did okay, but, he left a mess. After he was done, he had borrowed some things and just left the garbage all over the place. One thing I was promised that I haven’t received was a gift card afterward. They told me three to five days after installation, that that one would come in the mail and I haven’t seen it. But I’ve worked with different systems and ADT is really user-friendly. It’s simple to use and it’s easy to navigate whether it’s the app or the actual display box. The cost is fair as well. I can’t really complain. I was with Xfinity and I was getting a quarter of the product and almost paying the same.

I used to have ADT years ago and when I decided to go back with them, everything went smoothly. They were timely as well. The appointment I made happened really quick, so I didn't have to wait and I was happy with that. There was a young kid who was very helpful and showed me everything, so it was good. It was quite the process. However, what people should realize is when they get an alarm system, the price that gets advertised is not the price that they pay. There are a lot of options that they all need to have to pay out of pocket to get things going.
I think sometimes it’s misleading, and it's with any of the security system companies, not just ADT. They could say you don’t have to pay anything upfront, but by the time you get the stuff you really need for your house, you’re paying quite a bit upfront and/or you have to make monthly payments because the cost is high. The monthly fee for the services is relatively cheap, but the cost of the equipment is expensive.

They were back here thrice because I couldn't decide on the plugins for the lights to come on automatic. I also wasn't 100% sure I was wanting to keep the doorbell. But I ended up keeping the doorbell and three out of the five plugins. The installer kinda talked me into keeping them. I was considering the Ring doorbell. But then, it wasn't compatible with the panel, which I wasn't aware of in the beginning. I didn't realize that if I returned the doorbell, this whole panel would have to have been taken down and another one installed. That was the only complaint I would have. It was not mentioned at all. But overall, the sales guy did very well and I was surprised that they did the installation the same day as my purchase.

He showed us how to set the system up as well as how to activate and deactivate it. We also tried out the different functions of the system. So far, I like that my phone is connected to it. I chose ADT because I have seen a few signs in the neighborhood. My neighbor to the right and my neighbor across the street have them. Then I remembered a friend having their service as well, so I thought I would give them a call. I was glad that my customer service experience went very well. We just had a couple of hiccups toward the end. We had cameras that were added and there was an extender that was needed for the front camera. When it came in, it was a hard time getting an appointment set up right away and we needed to get out of town. It was kind of an inconvenience for us to have to wait. That appointment should have been set up ASAP because we were priority on the list. They should have kept us a priority until the job was completed and not just go on to the next customer.
They had to call someone else out to make that happen even though they had received the extender. I had to call a couple of times. I had to call the manager to have someone come out to connect that extender to make the cameras work in the front. Right now, one of the cameras in the front for some reason is not recording on my phone. Other than that, we're loving ADT. The guy that came out did a wonderful job. The second person they sent out was awesome.

ADT responded as soon as I called the number that was on the mailer that I got. The person I talked to first transferred me to his manager because he asked me for my social details, and I was skeptical because at that point I didn’t know whether to go through with the call or not. The person told me to just hold on a second and the manager came on. He was very forthcoming and provided all these savings and free equipment, so it went really well at that point.
The installation team turned out to be one person and then the manager came because the mailer that I saw had a different system on it and I just happened to notice the installer was setting up an old-fashioned system. I expressed to him that I did not want that system because I already had a digital alarm system and that was when he went to talk to his manager and I was told that their digital equipment was brand new. The manager came out the same day. They were determined to install that new system. They did but they were missing some pieces because it was a brand new equipment and all the pieces weren’t in yet. They came back another day and installed it. I told them I needed a smoke alarm, so they brought it. They got everything together.
The technician that installed it was not trained on the equipment because it was new, so that was why the manager had to come out that night to tell him what to do and he had to call some people because he wasn’t trained. The manager left earlier, but the installer didn’t leave until 11:30 because the equipment was giving him trouble and he hadn’t been trained on it. Then, he cleaned up after. They’re very committed because the manager didn’t have to come out. I commend them on that. ADT was very upfront with everything. There are no hidden agendas so I will recommend them. It was a pretty good experience.
I like my cameras. I can see everything that is going on in front of my house. The equipment looks beautiful on the wall. Once the technician installed the second camera, I didn’t have any instructions so I called the technical support and they were phenomenal. They handled it immediately. I was supposed to get a VISA card. I haven’t received it yet but I'm very satisfied overall.

I was going to get the system, regardless ‘cause I’m a single mom and I have three kids and I wanna be safe. But the gentleman who installed was very nice that installed it. We went through the whole house, as far as windows, doors and this and that. But when the guy got out there, it was a whole different story. All of a sudden I needed to purchase this and purchase that, things she already told me I would get as part of the package that she sold me. So I told the guy that I was a little discouraged, but that’s a typical sales situation where they promise you things, get you out there under pressure, and you’re forced to pay. Still, I wasn’t satisfied with the person on the phone that sold the product to me.
ADT should improve the way that they sell the product and customers should make sure that they get whatever it is that the reps discuss with them in writing because they make you pay for everything right then and there on the phone when they get your credit card number. If I didn’t need a security system right away, I would have walked away from the deal.

My last house I had, I had ADT in it to start with and I've had good service with it. And then when I moved out here to Lehigh, I transferred it over. I've been here since '96 and been with ADT this whole time. The guy that came out and installed the stuff was fantastic. I've had four or five different companies call me and try to get me to change out because ADT does this and this. They all do the same thing, so I've had good service with ADT. Just recently, I called them up, said, "Hey, look, I've had this thing since '96. It's time for an upgrade" because it's all wire stuff. I'm up to the modern technology now.
They just came in to put a new smoke alarm up. I've got a couple of more things. I want to put an outside siren and light out. It's a little extra money but I'd rather pay it and be safe. I had one break-in, they called the cops, then the cops were here before I got here. I've had nothing but good service with ADT. Every system has worked perfectly. So if I don't have to call them, then everything works good.
I tell anybody that wants to get an upgrade to go to ADT first. You can check around with the other people. They will stick you for $7,000, $8,000 and they will put this in and that in and everything. Talk to the salesman. He'll give you options. You don't need all those fancy stuff unless you really want it. They come in, will put cameras up. The salesman told me all these. "This is what we offer." And I said, "No. I don't need all that. Let's pick and choose on what I need and we'll base it on that." And he said, "No problem. If that's what you want, that's what you get." I love ADT and I wouldn't change for nothing, not unless it’s free. But if they want to cut my bill down a bit, I would be happy too.

I told him not to worry about it because I was already in the mix of cleaning but he said he had to.
Overall, it's a good system. But I went with ADT because I mainly wanted a security camera and that's actually one of the disappointments. In order to receive a security camera, I would have to have internet but I'm right on that edge that doesn't accept it. I've been trying the system out and so far, I've been not caring about turning on the security system because if someone could steal something, they're gonna steal something that's outside and there's no detection on that. When I leave the house, I don't even set the alarm. Then when I do, the alarms don't go off if I come through the back. I would have to open up the main front door. The system is actually wasting time and I know it's gonna waste my money because I have something that I'm not using. I got told that I was gonna get a $200 gift card instead of a $100 which was fine. It really didn't matter about the money situation though. It was more of the guy saying that I could give it a trial.

They said that that covers a basic house. Then I described to him how many windows and doors I had. It's just a regular house. He said, “Well, that’s definitely not gonna cover your house. Let me get my manager.”
The manager got on the phone. She asked me a couple more questions, and she said, “I'm gonna bump it up an additional $900 something.” I thought that was great. She said, “That will more than cover your house for security and have a little extra in it if there's a couple of add-ons you wanna do.” I also told her that I don’t have a telephone service or landline. She said, “That’s no problem. I'll surely chip-in for you.”
We talked about the monthly service. It was 20 something bucks a month. When the installer got there, he showed me the minimum he could do, and it was gonna cost me 400 bucks, which was still great, but not what they told me. On top of that, it was gonna be $59 a month instead of the $24. So, whether I misunderstood them or not, I don't know. I thought they were pretty clear. But I went along with it. I committed to it. So, I'm not complaining. But the contractor was great, very honest, upfront with me and he did his work and got done. He did a great job.

Car robbed in driveway No footage. I live in a bad neighborhood and was aware of that fact upon moving. The first thing I did was get a security system. While I now highly regret not doing more research. I had told the telephone sales rep that I need 24/7 video monitoring and he proceeded to tell me about the motion sensing. First off the motion sensing only does clips of 30 seconds. Is ADT trying to bring back VINE?! The alarm itself is only a high pitch noise that sounds like tinnitus but cant be heard outside the house.
Now, let's talk about being in a surprise contract! When I initially set up the install I had started a new job and had my mother present for the installation. Over the phone I was told that I am NOT under contract and that I just needed to pay for equipment and installation upfront. Due to my car being robbed and no footage captured I wanted to cancel my services. But surprise... surprise... THEY SAID I WAS under contract and that I signed at time of installation! Isnt that odd since I was not present during installation???? Therefore, the reason for the 1 star is poor quality cameras and dishonest sales practice.
Hello Catrina-
We're so sorry you experienced a burglary!
We believe in being transparent, that is why the length of the contract and penalty for premature cancellation is in bold font on the first page of all of our agreements.
Furthermore, ADT does offer video systems that record 24/7 and a siren to make your alarm louder or have it sound at an additional area. We'd love to discuss both with you at (888)-211-8563.

I have co-workers that have ADT. Their reps were very informative. Also, we absolutely loved the installer. He explained everything in great detail. If we put the system on at night, the back door keeps getting tripped. We're not sure if it was a small animal in the yard, but we haven’t been using it at night because it gets tripped and it's a false alarm. So, we have to get that fixed. We'll do that when the installer comes back.

ADT's customer service is good, but I don’t like them. Every month, they charge me directly from my credit card and I definitely pay them earlier. I also never have any late payments. I don’t know why my monthly statement always shows overdue. They say I don’t need to take it seriously and to just ignore the statement. How can I ignore the statement? I worry that they upload the statement to the Credit Bureau, which may affect my credit.
Hello Jinfeng- We're very sorry to learn of this vexing experience and would love to assist you further! Please email our team directly at alwaysthere@adt.com with the address in which the services are located and more information in regard to your concern so that we may assist you further.~ Eileen

I had a couple of incidents at my home. I was opening up my mail and ADT had a flyer in there. The guy that came, I don't think he's 100% knowledgeable, but he was very nice and he got the work done. But four days after I had it installed, one of my sensors fell off my door and I called Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday, and all I got was the runaround. They never called that guy that is local. Then they finally sent me some glue to glue it up, but I called back the day before and they finally sent out the same guy and he reglued it, put another piece of tape on it, and three days ago, it fell off again. So, I stuck it back up, but now, I don't know how to unbypass the front door. I never use the front door. So there's no one touching it or opening the door. I just don't understand why that one keeps falling off. I'm not really happy. I'm tired of calling and getting the runaround. I was also supposed to get a $100 Visa gift card and I have not received an email for that.

The second rep was great. He was very patient and he explained everything. He wasn’t rushing through and he addressed all our questions. The first rep was not. He just had a terrible attitude. But everything worked out. We’re satisfied. Everything’s done and fine now.
