    We have had ADT service for well over a decade. The system has been reliable as far as the unit working. In that time I want to say the system only required service 3 times. Each time, ADT has had the fault corrected within maybe 2 days and the issues were corrected first time. I had teenagers and at least 3 or 4 times they set the smoke detector off cooking with the oven. ADT would be on the phone within 1 minute.

    During hurricanes and storms where the power has been knocked out, again within minutes ADT made contact to ensure everything was OK. Every time I have had to change the batteries in either the smoke detector, fire alarm or an external read switch, as soon as I popped the cover, ADT would call within 2 minutes to inquire about the tamper switch. The alarm system was actually activated one time and ADT had the police at the property and then called us so fast it scared the would be intruders away. The system has never had a false alarm. Overall I have no complaints and would honestly recommend ADT to friends and family. My system has the keypad, 4 key fobs, 12 reads, several smoke and fire detectors and 1 PIR. It also has the wireless call out should the phone lines be down, cut, power out whatever and a battery back up.

How can I trust a company to solve my home security issues if they have trouble solving it, asking for charges for a problem NOT SOLVED when there are multiple competitors?     My alarm warning chime kept sounding and a low battery indicated notice was displayed on the control panel along with a telephone number to call for assistance. I called the number and was told the chime was an indication that the battery had a low charge and I was asked if the power had been off. I told the lady I was speaking with that I had turned the power off while I worked on installing a new electrical outlet but that is was off less than 30 minutes. She ask how long since the battery was replaced. I told her that it had never been replace to my knowledge and we have had the system for over 12 years. She told me I needed a new battery and started the paperwork to have one sent to me - AT NO CHARGE to me.

    She also told me the steps I needed to take to: 1. Silence the warning chime. 2. How to remove and replace the battery once the new one arrived. The new battery arrived within three days and I switched out the battery without incident. Customer service was excellent and replacement parts were quickly sent. I will have to give 5 stars on the helpfulness and speedy service.

    I've been an ADT customer for 20 years now. I’ve got the wireless fob for setting the system up outside and a number of different zones, and the motion detector inside the house. Thier reps were very good and very easy to understand. They’ve always been good at explaining things to me. They’ve been very, very good at getting back to us and their response time was great.     The monitoring side of your service is spot on. My dissatisfaction is that I got the new customer package at the beginning. Now that I would like to upgrade and add some sensors to improve my house coverage, I find that the cost of even adding one more motion sensor will be an absurd amount. Second we had an outage caused by the fires in California. The Cell towers were taken out by fire. I never lost cell phone service so I assume that the towers affected were the only ones supporting old technology. It would be a good idea to upgrade the cell system or replace the old equipment in my house to work with LTE cell signal. Another good idea would be to allow my system to use my always on WIFI. Not having my system connected to your monitoring service made the system useless.

    Recently I had a problem with a fire-alarm issue. I am away from home for long periods of time and have security and fire-alarm service my home. Recently for the first time while I was away I received a call that said my fire-alarm had been activated. I told them of course to notify or not cancel fire-department to check. I was told that I would receive an notification in about 30 minutes.

    Well I was a extremely nervous and in 15 minutes called my neighbor to check. She said no emergency services had shown up and door closest to alarm from the garage was not hot. She could hear the alarm. She said none of the other personally installed alarms were set off. 45 minutes went by and I called ADT, the operator said the fire-department was canceled to response by ADT at the time of activation. SO I WAS SHOCKED. MY HOUSE COULD HAVE BURNED DOWN BECAUSE ADT CANCELED CALL, AFTER I TOLD THEM TO DEPLOY. No other comments needed. Will be changing service soon.

On the first occasion a deck door blew open in the early morning hours due to a windstorm, and the police responded immediately. Fat fingered the control panel setting off the alarm or my favorite one is coming home from someplace and going to the pool area before deactivating the system. Done that several times. I am a loyal customer but I would like to see more home technologies integrated into the ADT system.     I have been an ADT customer since 2003. I have always felt my alarm system was reliable and I could sleep well knowing my family was safe. Just recently while testing my system, I realized that the alarms are no longer audible on the second floor. This happens to be where all of the bedrooms are! I called ADT and hung up after being placed on hold for 20+ minutes. I tried email for assistance but never received a response. What has happened to them? They have ALWAYS been so attentive. I guess I haven't needed anything from them for years and something has changed since then. Does anyone know what I can try with my system? It is the old type (never been upgraded in 14 years). Please help! I can't sleep well anymore for worrying unless I sleep downstairs on the couch... And I miss my bed!

When the installer came out, he didn't think we needed a bunch of extra stuff and it was nice that he brought that up for us. So I really liked him because he saved us some money. The last issue I had was when the battery died. We were in Arizona and the alarm system went off and couldn't figure out what caused them. I called ADT and they told me what needed to be done.     Do not purchase ADT... Over $1,000 later my home is still not covered. This morning I received a phone call due to a "communication" error. Apparently now my home is vulnerable. The only way to remedy the situation is to access my control panel. That's difficult/impossible to do two states away. We have the emergency, fire and police features in our package including the touchpad, the chips in the windows and the box inside the house. It’s okay so far. We have no issues with them and they’re always here when we need them. The sales team and customer service are good. They’ve answered all the questions that we needed.     I've had ADT for as long as it's been in existence. Prior to this, I started with another service that changed twice, and then we finally ended up as ADT. We have 24-hour monitoring and I'm comfortable with their service. Customer service is great and the techs are very professional. I have had a maintenance issue with the door and the connection but they came out and fixed it. Also, I like the fact that you get a call even though you turn it off to let you know they're still monitoring. Last week one of my batteries went low and the system was chirping, and the next morning, I was going to call in. However they called me before I called in to tell me that the batteries were low and and they told me how to check the system.

    However, I am a little bit concerned about the cost. I look at other services and the cost is less but I'm not sure what you get from the other services. Most services are $25 to $30 a month, but with ADT, my bill every three months is $160. But overall, it's been an invaluable opportunity and service to my family, and I appreciate the work.

    We have three doors downstairs and wanted the house secure at night. ADT came and put a device on each of the doors and then they talked us through the alarm system and how to use it. We also have the ADT system sign out in the yard. ADT works very well for us but my husband has dementia and it costs us $9 every time he opens the door when we set the alarm at night. Nothing was done when I talked to customer service and explained the situation. We're retired and we're on a budget, and it's been more than three times usually a month. It’s fine when the alarm goes off and we catch it right away but we get a call from ADT and the Sheriff if we don’t. Nevertheless, I feel safer at night having the system on. We live in a rural country and we have motion lights on the garage and on the house, but it's good to know that I have that security of the alarm system on each door and each entrance. I'm glad that we have ADT.

    We were a former client of ADT years ago when we lived up in Michigan and we have them since we moved about 13 years ago. We have inside/outside speakers for the doorbell, the typical alarm system for the fire and police, and on all the windows and doors. We also have the yard sign. We have a grandson who is 10 years old and has Down's Syndrome. When he came down from Michigan to visit, he loved the red fire button on our keypad and he pushed it, and all hell broke loose. The alarms went off and he panicked but we were able to stop the police from coming. However, the fire department comes automatically so we weren’t able to stop that.     I have ADT security system for almost 8 years for now. This security system did not detect glass break-in burglary activity that just happened once this week on Tuesday while we were out to office. I'm totally dissatisfied with this system that it cannot provide any peace of mind. We were lucky that we are not at home and imagine if any of us or kids at home. I really hate this security system.     I was doing a search of security systems and I checked ADT and a couple of others at the same time. I checked what they offered and what the price is worth. So far, the system is good. While I would like it to cost less, it still seems reasonable. Also, when I've done false alarms, it's been as much as 15 minutes before they actually respond, which a lot of stuff can be gone, and the people can be totally gone.

    However, their representatives have been very professional and so were their technicians. They changed out a battery, and they always clean up after themselves when they have to do repairs. All in all, while I'll stay with this system, I'm not sure if I might not have re-evaluated it at that time and had gone with the cameras to the phone type situation. It's because when I got this system, we didn't have the cameras and motion detectors that immediately report to your phone. They're very different technology now.

    We've had ADT security system for years. If there's an alarm that isn’t turned off, the police come. If there's an alarm that’s made by mistake in the house, I can cancel it and it will go off. Other than that, it's a typical alarm system. However, I don't know how long the keypad lasts. It still works but I'm just wondering if it's starting to wear out because it's been there for at least 20 years. It might be a good idea to upgrade it. Also, when I call these days, it's been an automated call. But in the past, it has been a real person on the phone. But so far, I'm perfectly satisfied with what I expect them to do.

    My house was burglarized and after that, I decided I wanted a security system. I went to three companies online but, ADT has been in the business for over a 100 years and that told me they knew what they were doing. They had a good package and a good track record. The salespeople were very knowledgeable and knew exactly what they were talking about. The technicians who did the installation were excellent and very professional. The original package that I bought included sensors inside the house, and three cameras, one inside and two outside. I later decided to add two more cameras for the front door and the back door. The installation was very good and the equipment has been excellent.

    ADT says they do a 24-hour monitoring and I know they do, because, I set off the alarm one day by accident and ADT was on the phone within 5-10 minutes. They called and ask me if everything was okay. I verified, gave them my password, a code word, to verify that I was the person who was supposed to be talking and we took care of it very quickly. They're using High Definition cameras now and the image quality is very good. I had someone check out my track in the wee hours one morning and I caught them on camera. A couple of days later I noticed and called the police. They came over and took one look at the video and said, “Oh, we know that guy". He was out on perils for breaking into vehicles.     I’m satisfied with ADT. The sales rep was fantastic. She was thorough and answered my dumb questions. I felt really good when I left for the cruise because they got it turned on before we left. I felt like my house was being taken care of and they give you the option to get some of your family members or friends to contact if you’re not available. I really like that.

    After I had it for about three years, they went up on the price. I started out at $30 something and they went all the way up to $50 something. I called them because another company came by and I would pay $99 one-time fee and my payment would be less than $20, and I was going to go with him. That’s cheaper. And nobody has ever really broken into my house and I thought I’d do that. So I called ADT to get it shut down and they talked me into keeping it. And I said that I didn’t like that they jumped my price. So they lowered it and I like that. I’m still paying that same $32 for about six years.

    Also, about three months ago my bill went up. It was about $3 or $4, which was no big deal but they just sent the bill. They didn’t give me a warning it was going to go up. So I called them and said that if they're going to increase my bill, I would like to know about it. I’m retired now. My income is still good, but it’s not the same. I spoke to a supervisor and they put it right back to where it was and it’s still there and I’m okay with that.

    My husband smokes and he’d go out the back door. Sometimes he would forget that he had the alarm. The phone in the computer room would ring. We found out it was hooked up in the computer room rather than in the den where we’re sitting. We’ve gotten used to it but that part we don’t really like. We just let it go. We don’t open the door and we learned to turn it off sometimes when we’re home. Then my battery died and I was all ready to buy a new battery. I got a call back that said my deal came with the battery. I get a new battery and I don’t have to pay for it. I was a little disappointed in the fact that their call center people weren’t aware of that.

    I began this awful journey with ADT on Friday, October 20, 2017. Here are the reasons I am wishing to cancel my ADT services (without penalty): For starters, the salesman never told us the contract was for 3 years. I called him and said we would like to get service on Friday, Oct. 20. At this time, I was in the car driving and my wife was with me. He said we needed to sign an agreement, which I assumed was simply for installation. He emailed us document and my wife signed it. At no time did he mention this was a contract that was for ADT service for 3 years. I feel this was very deceitful. In our first week of ADT service, we were charged the online rate ($44.95) on Monday Oct. 23 and not the rate our sales guy quoted us over the phone ($34.95). I had to reach out via Twitter to have this resolved. It was handled, but it was still frustrating we were already charged incorrectly.

    On Thursday, Oct. 26, our alarm was going off saying a window was open when it wasn’t. I went through the whole house and re-opened and closed the windows and doors. I also called to get a tech out since I was unable to fix it. By the time the tech came to our place on Wednesday, Nov. 1 (the soonest they could have someone out), the system wasn’t acting up anymore, so he couldn’t troubleshoot the issue. Since the system was acting up during this time, I also wasn't able to arm our house in fears it may go off by mistake. A few days later, on Monday Nov. 6, our alarm went off at 1 AM and woke us up. Not only was there no window or door open, but it terrified my wife and I. I have no idea why the alarm went off. I was forced to turn our system off as I was worried another false alarm would wake us up later. I feel like I can’t even use the system properly since it goes off randomly.

    Our service started on Monday Oct. 23. On Thursday Oct. 26 (within the 3 business day cancellation period), I direct messaged ADT on Twitter and requested my service be canceled without penalty as the system was not working as it should. They told me I was outside the 3 day cancellation window and that social media isn't the appropriate way to cancel service. Due to these ongoing issues and the fear of a faulty, unreliable system, I am hoping to have my services canceled without penalty. It's been two weeks of worry and fear and I don't wish to continue these feelings.

It’s a great system to have if you’re looking for a security system. Their customer service is excellent and keep me informed.     We pay for ADT's service to us and for our daughter’s. ADT is exceptionally expensive. We are on a fixed budget and we’re actively looking for a less expensive system that we both could be using. If we could have found one with ADT for the same price, we would have added our son to the mix. We ran into somebody from Vivint at a building show and we talked it over with him. He seemed to think that it could be done but we didn’t hear anything back so we figured that it was a no go.

    We called them one time when we went downstairs and one of us hasn’t turned off the alarm and so it went off, but then we immediately turned it off. The person I talked with at that time was fine. They used to call us whenever it went off but now there’s a certain amount of lag time they give us before they call back. Years ago, we had a tiny spider in one of our motion detectors and it sets the alarm off. The technicians were off on a trip, but they came out, cleaned it and we kept it dust free. He was great and did the job.

    The five-star ratings here must be bogus. Every single person I've contacted about our ADT contracts has been lied to. My wife and I were told repeatedly that after 2 years our contract would be fulfilled and we would own the equipment. LIE! It's for 3 years, and the sales guy talks really fast as he highlights certain words and phrases as he goes over the contract and gets you to sign. Okay, during the 3 years I was left without monitoring for several weeks, during which time ADT did not try to contact either myself or my wife to let us know there was a problem. I finally noticed when setting the alarm one night that there was an error code.

    Called the service and they sent someone out, telling me there would be no charge unless I had made changes to my phone line, which I had not. Tech fixed the problem, and, no, they didn't bill. They simply made an unauthorized charge on my credit card. I called to their rude, unprofessional customer service scumbags who told me that nothing could be done, ADT gets paid for all service calls. I told her to send the tech back out to pick up the equipment and I would pay the early termination fee of 75% of the remaining balance, in my case I still had four months to go, but I would rather pay the fee than to agree to let them steal even a single dollar from me.

    Finally, she agreed and reversed the charge. I gave 30 days notice and I am finished with these thieves on 11/7. I am expecting a refund since we get charged a month in advance for service, another scam, but I really expect to not only fail to refund November, but to also charge me for December. I am waiting to see what happens, and I already have my papers ready in case I need to sue them, which I will happily do. I will NEVER do business with these lying, thieving scumbags again, and I will go out of my way to warn people about the way they do business.

    We came from California and we had security there. When we had this house built, we decided that we were going to have the same thing since it's a big house and we're more comfortable having security. We had Brink's before then ADT bought them out so they put us over to ADT. Twice, my husband set the alarm and we took off. We had my daughter down for them to contact and she called us and said that our alarm was going off. The alarm company called her and she went over there. It turned out that he set it wrong.     I've been with ADT for many years. I converted over from Brinks and had no problems with the transition. It went over smoothly. When I moved in 2010, ADT came in and installed all new equipment, and they gave me an old-time customer discount. I had to have them come over to replace the battery in the thing for smelling CO2. They came and replaced it and it was all fine. The system changed since I got it. It's no longer landline and it's wireless now. The fire alarm is all I use.     When we were moving to Houston, a salesman from ADT stopped by at our house. We wanted to sign-up since we knew that it was essential. When our installer came, our house had been under ADT but an older version. He updated it, which was no problem, but after he's all over, he suggested that we take down the smoke detectors and the carbon monoxide detector and replaced them with ADT's version. I told him to leave them as they are as they were working fine, so he got upset with me and left without even explaining anything further about ADT. Then, a week later, the alarm went off. We didn't know what to do but we finally got it turned off. By that time, the police came and wanted to know what happened and we explained.

    Then, a week later, I got a letter from Houston City Protection telling me that I had failed to pay the $50 initial fee and also being fined in $210 for not signing that fee. We didn't know anything about that particular thing. The installers certainly should have known about it. I then sent the letter to ADT to remind them that they were responsible for it. But I got a no and I had to dish out $300 for a lesson learned. We immediately paid the $50 as part of the initial for it and since then, we've had once the alarms go off or for no reason at all but been taken care of. ADT also called us about it and asked if everything's okay. We're satisfied with the protection we're getting from ADT.

    I've had ADT for a long time and I'm okay with it. We had another security at our other house, but they did not do in home residential. When we built our condo 14 years ago, we got connected with ADT. We had it wired when we built the condo. We got glass breakage because my windows don't open. I've got fire and carbon monoxide. Finally, if it goes down below a certain temperature, the heat will kick in.

    When the time came to put up the drywall, the contractors didn't get my fire alarm. I have to have batteries in them. I took the package deal for repair and have them come every three years to put new batteries in since I'm getting too old and can't get up the ladder anymore. I wanted the tech to replace my fire when he was here, but he wouldn't. Two or three months later, it went out. When I called, I had to wait. I had to get the battery out or else I'm going to get this beeping and beeping. I thought that get service within a day or so. But I had to wait a couple of weeks. I had to get up on the ladder because my service call was not scheduled until a good week and a half later.

    I'm disappointed since I'm paying for this every year and I'm not using it at all. I used it only two years out of three. The third year, I have them come back and check it for me.     I had two break-ins in the home in San Antonio, Texas. When we moved in 2008, we bought a home here and I had Brinks done then in conjunction with the building. We had them continuously since then even after ADT purchased Brinks. I have all my windows alarmed and for when I go in and out. I also have a button but the button is not working currently. When the alarm went off the second time, I was told it was maybe the battery in the remote. I’m going to change that to see what happens.

    When Brinks put it in, the service and the people I spoke to at Brinks especially when I had an alarm gave me the impression that I was topmost in their mind. However, I didn’t appreciate the fact that ADT attempted to go up on the price within two to three months of them purchasing Brinks. They came up with a new price and structured that. I was not happy with it. I wouldn’t go out and wave the flag for ADT. If I had somebody that was cheaper that provides the same service, I’d probably take them. But it’s a service. And as a service, I accepted it for what it is. I’m satisfied with it. They’ve done okay. I don’t have to pay a fee to the city for my alarm. And when my alarm goes off, they call me once or twice some time on my house phone. And if they can’t reach me thru my house phone, they call me on my cell. So, I’m satisfied with the level of response.

    I had something go off and ADT reps told me how to fix it. It was very straightforward, easy. Everything seems to be working good and reliable. And they send me little notices all the time to remind me stuff like, "Please test your system," or, "Your system didn’t respond to something, which is excellent. Prior to ADT Continental Security and the owner of the company put my system in but he passed away. His son took over and his son’s idea was just to collect checks. He never did anything when something wore out, like some of my fire detectors or smoke detectors actually expired. ADT came in and sort of like checked all my system out, added a few new things, and they had to replace a lot of my smoke detectors and so far I’ve been quite satisfied. ADT's been very simple to work with and I feel secure.

    Have had a horrible experience with ADT in Montreal. I purchased their system which consisted of 4 sensors, a doorbell picture monitor and a controlled light switch module. Technician came as planned to install everything, upon trying to install doorbell he mentioned it was too big for my space and needed to install a smaller one which he didn't have. He also advised the light controller would need a electrician to install it, so instead I requested to exchange this product for one which just plugs into wall and I can plug in a lamp or light to it. He said call ADT and book another appointment for a technician to come with correct doorbell and do the exchange for the light switch.

    I called that same week and booked an appointment. When the agent came he thought I wanted a new system installed, he try to figure out to do on his computer for over an hour but left with no resolution saying his manager would call in few days. Manager called 1 week+ later, and no conclusion was made over the phone also as he said he couldn't understand my account and how the order was done, he said he'd call back once he speaks to someone else. No one called...

    I had my wedding the following month so couldn't be bothered to continue to follow up with this. Moving to September, I received an invoice for all the equipment. I finally called ADT advising them the initial installation was not even completed from June so I won't pay the invoice until it's completed and adjusted to reflect the exchange in the light switch product. The agent on the phone scheduled someone to come during work hours; I took off work to be home for when the technician comes. The technician never showed up and I didn't even receive a call regarding this. I called ADT back the next day advising them no one came and I can't take more work off. So they set up another appointment which was scheduled between 6-9 which was outside my work hours. No one showed up this appointment either...

    I now called back again telling them what happened and I need to speak with manager, I was transferred to a manager but only got the voicemail, I left a msg and no one called me back. Brings me to today, I called back ADT again and said I need a manager right away. I want to cancel my service, installation has not been completed and it's now been close to six months. I was transferred to retention/loyalty department where I spoke to someone named Katrina. She was NO help at all, after telling her the whole story and situation and the frustration I was enduring, her only resolution was, "I'll send another technician. I said, "How am I suppose to trust this for the 3rd time and assume it's not going to be a no show again." She didn't have any further assurance other than "I will follow up after the appointment." (I was told this by every other agent who booked me an appointment but was missed and never followed up with).

    I finally told her, I want to cancel my service and I want all the equipment to be removed, I know I signed a contract but the installation hasn't even been completed for almost 6 months now and no resolution has been met. She then said, "You're under contract. You will have to pay $1000+ in cancellation fee, + installation fee + equipment fee. I told her I was not going to pay a cancellation fee or anything else for that matter for a service which has not been fulfilled. She said she's going to send it to collections and I can do what I want... I left another voicemail for a manager and am now still awaiting a callback. I am not impressed with ADT or their customer service or their Montreal location which has no idea what they're doing. Hopefully an ADT rep sees this as I have seen they have responded to other reviews.

    I preferred my previous company over ADT. I had Brink’s for 10 years at my previous home and for several years at a new house. ADT took over and we had to go along with what they do or don't do and they don’t agree with the previous contract. A rep came out and tried to get us to purchase new touch pads which didn’t need replacing. And that was the time I found out that they don't transfer stuff. The service did not change but Brink can move my system with me and I can’t transfer services with ADT. I’m not happy with ADT and it’s going to cost me a lot of money when I move. Every window and door will cost me a penny and I’ll have to repurchase everything. I plan to contact ADT about it and I wish I had Brink’s back.

    I’ve had ADT for about 15 years and I have the basic package. I have motion detectors, glass break sensors, and the key fob. I shopped around and ADT has one of the best prices. My only concern at one time was that the pricing was going up but I called and was able to get a better price. In fact, I called and cancelled and then somebody called me back and wanted to know what was going on. I explained to him and since I was a long-time customer, they decreased my bill wherein I won't be needing a landline. Therefore, I'll save $50 a month and that made a big difference. They also called me around the time that we had our last hurricane and their guy came out and put in some type of Cellguard, and he was very pleasant. My experience has been wonderful and I would recommend ADT.

    I requested to put my account on hold for a period of 5 months while under a 3 year contract. They refused and so I offered to extend the overall length of my contract to make up for the lost months of service I was obligated for, and they declined. I now look forward to completing the remainder of my contract so that I can work with a more flexible and people-friendly corporation. This type of treatment is short sighted unsustainable. I told them that they would lose my business if they would continue to force me into services during these unnecessary months, and they didn't seem to mind. I will now have to dedicate time to spreading the story of my unhappy experience with this company on social media. I don't see how they see this as the better option for either of us. Sadly, I'm left with no better alternative. I thought this was a reputable company.

    I have hated doing business with ADT and it has been a complete waste of money. I don't feel safe at all and I will never recommend anyone to do business with ADT. During the time of my electric panel being moved from one location to another and my electricity went off which means my alarm wouldn't work never got a call from ADT for any kind of a loss of connection for my alarm system and had due to that the thiefs were able to get into my property and steal all kinds of tools for construction. And when you call the customer service department they are not able to tell why and sound very careless, unprofessional and rude.

    I signed up for ADT after a high pressured salesman said that if we didn't like it we could just call and cancel within 3 days for a full refund. After determining that this was not the right move I called to cancel within the 3 days. I was told that I couldn't cancel over the phone and had to mail a form in (which I did not receive so I wrote the info on a piece of paper). After 1 and 2 weeks of mailing it in, I followed up and they stated that they did not receive the letter and therefore I am responsible for the 3 year contract (which I did not receive a copy of either). I filed a complaint with the attorney general's office and am prepared to get an attorney.

    Installer arrived about 4:20 p.m. last Thur. Was unable to install, using cell phone due to poor reception here. A friend was visiting during the installation, slipped on installer's paperwork and broke a thigh bone, she's still in the hospital. Installer did use my landline and had to remain here until about 11 p.m. or near that timeframe to complete installation. He did not have a stand for the main control panel, that should be here on the 26th. I am happy that ADT sent an e-mail to me regarding this system, my home was recently flooded and a firearm is missing, I do feel more secure now that this system is installed.     We had an old system that was wired and ADT integrated the new wireless stuff with the old wired system so that made it extra complicated. I wasn’t aware they could even do that but they did. But the service has been good. But for about a year the Plus system did not work on my Android phone but worked on my wife's iPhone. All I could get from anybody at ADT was there was a software glitch and they were working on it. They were supposed to have it fixed a year ago February and it never happened. I could use the app to see the cameras but I couldn't set the alarm with my app on my Android phone so we used my wife's iPhone and did it there.

    There are some cleaning ladies that come once every two weeks. On the day they come, I do not arm the system so they can get in. One day I forgot to disarm the system and I was 20 miles away. I saw them on the ring doorbell that we have. I saw the pictures of them trying to get in. I got a call from ADT saying the alarm had gone off but they said they could not turn it off and I had to do it. I couldn’t do it because my Android phone didn’t work. I had to call my wife, who's a pre-school teacher, call the office, have them go down and get her to turn off the alarm with her phone. It took them over a year to get the Android app to work, at least on my version of the phone. But it works now and I can set the alarm now.

    ADT revamped my system and it was different in a number of ways and a little easier, in some ways, to function with. We got a motion detector that's not connected to the system by wires. It's matted inside and opening and shutting it back up when you replace the battery is not that easy but it's workable. I had to have them come out and install the battery after I've got it to where I couldn't get it to close up. But I can do it the next time since the tech showed me how he did it. It's still a tight fit, though, and you've got to give it a pretty hard punch. They shouldn't make it quite that hard to open and close since every year or so, you're going to have to change the battery. But the system is as advertised and I've had no problems with them.

    So, about six months ago I had an ADT system installed in my house. When the installer (“I’m not a salesperson!”) arrived, he was very congenial but extremely deceptive. The house was a rental and I knew I would be moving out and repeatedly confirmed with him that I could cancel service at any time with no penalties. Moving day comes, I call ADT to cancel, spoke with THE most horrendous phone representative ever who informed me that I had signed a three year contract. WHAT. When I originally signed the contract the installer did not give me the opportunity to read the document since it was on the tablet he was using to set up the system, and told me the signatures were to confirm install.

    There was no explanation of what I was signing and certainly no indication that it was a three-year agreement. Additionally, I was paying an extra $5 a month for a service that I did not ask for nor receive and they refuse to credit me that. Today I had an appointment to remove the system from my house and into my apartment, since I would have to pay $1200 up front to get out of the contract that I was deceived into signing. When I spoke to the person who set up the transfer appointment, they told me that the same technician would take down the old system and take it right over to my apartment to install since they are less than a mile apart, and that it would just be a transfer of the contract, specifically that it was NOT TO BE A NEW CONTRACT. The window for the appointment was 10-2, and I get a call at 2:20 this afternoon from a technician at my apartment to install a brand new system.

    I was at an event with my daughter and had to step out for a significant amount of time while I called ADT to figure out what was going on. They had no idea. Fortunately they record all of their calls because I’m going to escalate this until I’m truly heard. The technician was kind enough to wait for us to get to the apartment, he does the install and it’s all good until we get to the signing part. I initialed in two spots and noticed below that it stated this was beginning a 36-month contract. I did not sign the rest of the contract but the technician left and the system works, so here I am. Screw ADT. Deceptive, misleading, dishonest company that I cannot wait to badmouth to everyone I know. Such a scam!

    We first heard about ADT in the mail where it said they would come out and hook things up for you and so we got the most we could for our money. Mike talked to the sales rep and everything was fine and I loved the install guy, Todd, who came out here. I said I could look it up probably, but he was really good and really nice so we got fixed up with what we want. He was very patient with my husband and me as far as getting everything set up. To have every single thing done in our house would have cost thousands of dollars but he was here for quite a while and he did a fantastic job.

    I have more experience with the system than my husband Mike, does because I'm home most of the time. Yesterday a funny thing happened when he had one of the key fobs with him but he was miles away in another town. I walked past my system where you turn it on and off, and then I turned around and I walked the other way past it when all of a sudden, the alarm went off. It was screaming “living door” and so I walked in here and checked the living room door and it was just fine. I didn't have any clue why the alarm went off unless he had something accidentally hit. I didn't think it would work from 45 miles away and Mike doesn't have the app on his phone where he can arm and disarm it. I have that but he never set up his. My other key fob was on the table and I didn't touch it. That's the only unusual thing that's happened and other than that, we've been very happy with it.

    We've only had the alarm go off two other times and one time was when the ironing board fell over and the shatter alarm went off because it was in our bedroom, and so was the ironing board. Also, there was a time when I had woken up with this alarm going off and knocking the clock onto the hardwood floor and it set it off. But unless we accidentally open the door and forget to disarm the system, ADT has done great and I feel so much safer with it. We got broken into twice last summer and we don't intend for it to happen again. We haven't had any more break-ins and I've got plenty of signs and stickers. We went with the best company and we're just pleased as pie. I'd recommend ADT.

    Since 2012, ADT has been providing me with home security which includes the motion detector, the door detector and the glass breakage. I did the system after I had a break-in and my kids helped me with the features. The installer explained everything and I went along with it. I use ADT when I'm home alone and when I go away. I know that when I come home, the house is secure and I feel confident.

    When my battery was low on the motion detector, I called ADT as I did not exactly know how to do that. The reps were great and they informed me that it would be charged if they came out to do it. But one of my grown sons who's close by came, got up there, took the batteries off, changed them and now I'm all set. It was a positive experience and all things were solved. I'm perfectly satisfied.

    We were members for almost five years with the company. They set up our system to what we thought would be efficient. Unfortunately it was not. During thanksgiving weekend we left out of town. It was not until we returned the following week that I went downstairs to our extra bedroom to get something when I noticed it was really cold inside. When I'm away from home, it connects to the police department and if someone opened the door, the reps call right away to check and see if everything is okay. They ask for information in a nice and friendly way and they check to make sure that it’s me.     I was told I was going to be charge for a new panel. So went and go ahead with the one was in store. Now keyboard pin and contact of the door not working. Called customer service and was told they can't help me because to get the proper service I should get a ADT panel. This is the catch now they said if the tech called that the panel has to be changed they would gave me for free and what he didn't do. Now I am stuck with a service what I can properly use. Called several times to discuss about a solution and given a runaround. As a big company and being a customer already I would think it would be fixed. But was told they can help and if you want you can cancel your service... I was like I just signed up for another store and blaming for your tech and customer service mistake.     We had an ADT security system installed in March 2017 and on the contract was to receive a rebate. We are now in October and every time I call the redemption center they tell me that my name does not appear in the system, transferred me to another number who said they could not assist me and transferred me again to an ADT representative. I have been on hold for 1 hour with the same message that they are overwhelming response they are currently busy. If I didn't abide by the contract ADT would expect pay, so I expect what was promised by your Regional Manager Heath **. So I am assuming your representative who has had me on hold for over an hour now is not coming back on the line. I am thoroughly disgusted and disappointed with ADT service.

    Beware, it's not a month to month service agreement and the equipment is cheap and problematic. I ended up with a system that didn't work and a multi-year contract. Even though I paid extra for the service agreement, where ADT agrees to fix it if it doesn't work, they demanded that I pay to fix the system or pay a huge early termination fee.

    We had our system installed in June and it has never worked for us properly. The pulse app that we pay for never worked and still does not to this day. We were not told a 3rd party has our account and we can’t get anyone to fix our problem after numerous visits. Customer service is a joke! Lies after lies. No help whatsoever! I will spread this information to every source I can so that nobody has to deal with this!

    We have had 4+ techs out and none of them knew anything of the others doing. I have been told I need a new panel wires into my internet and I have set this up 3 times and each time a tech comes out he has no clue what I am talking about. Again, crappy customer service and communication!! Paid a lot 1500+ for equipment that don’t work and was told by one of ADT techs that was not even carried anymore and was junk. Pay over $50 a month for crap!!! Wonder if anyone knows what they're doing with this Company!!! Only giving a 1 star because I can’t give a negative 10000000!! Let’s see how long it takes to even get someone to contact me about this!

    I’ve had my ADT for over 20 years. They protect my home and call if the alarm goes off. Dealing with their sales reps have been positive and it has been a good experience overall.

    ADT was already installed when we moved in the house four years ago. We got the one that goes on the door and we have the ADT yard sign. I had a false alarm one time and the ADT reps were nice and friendly when I spoke to them. I’m 100% satisfied with them.

    The technician who came to our home was very professional, friendly, and helpful. I appreciated the time he took to carefully explain everything, offer recommendations and install what was best for our family. I especially appreciate the additional fire and carbon monoxide monitoring that is offered. I feel safer knowing we have an ADT system in our home.

    ADT responded to my complaint and closed the account and refunded overpayments on Account. I hope and pray this is the end of this matter

    Mother Passed away last year (February 2016) and since she had ADT on auto-pay (for years) and our dad was still with us, we kept the account open. When our dad passed in December of 2016 we took on the almost impossible task of preparing our family home for sale, this made more difficult because me or my sister didn't live in the state of Alabama anymore. Knowing the alarm was on to protect the home was a blessing. During the process of prepping and re-painting home the lines that connect the ADT system was cut. No call from ADT or no Emergency services dispatched (i.e. Police). We finally sold and closed on home. August 30, 2017 I called to close account. I was told to fax a statement requesting account to be closed along with mother’s death certificate. Both were faxed on August 30th and later we get a letter saying ADT needs my dead mother’s signature on the request.

    Explained to representative that I already told the first one that my mother passed away and his response was they never received the death certificate, re-faxed certificate. Later ADT pulled another payment from account, called and representative said that they were still processing the account. Re-explained the issue to him and stressed that this back and forth is causing our family to have to re-visit our parents’ death over and over again months to near a year after their deaths. On the 21st I received a bill in the mail for the full monthly payment due of 55.97 and another asking for just 7.46, Called and talked to representative and she said that was our last bill and it was adjusted for services provided.

    Asked her how could ADT charge us for services when the alarm has been disconnected since June 2017 and they didn't even know or contact us of a problem with their monitoring system because according to bill that's what we are being charged monthly for. I didn't want this to be a long drawn out statement but the situation warranted it. This account is not even in my or my sister’s name. We were trying to do the right thing because we loved our parents and that's how we were raised. This is NOT how you conduct business or encourage positive customer service. I WILL pay the $7.46 and hope and pray no one ask me my thoughts on should they use ADT in the future.

    Hello Corwin- We are truly sorry to learn of the passing of your parents and the trouble you experienced cancelling your mother's ADT services.

    We have reviewed the account and see that your cancellation was supposed to be processed on September 7th. While, we do see that a customer service agent waived the remaining balance of $7.46, the account appears to have been over billed by $61.57. I will have this amount refunded to the checking account on file.
