I went with ADT because they're rated one of the best services out there. The installation was good and I’m gonna have the tech come back out to move it in a different location. He’s an excellent technician. He was very thorough and prompt. I use all the things that he showed me. With their smartphone app, you can check the system all the time which is pretty nice. I got people working. I know they’re there. I know if the door is open.

We went online and we filled out a form for a “free quote.” We gave ADT all the information and the address of the house, my name, my phone number but we never heard back. But we got another call later. We made arrangements for somebody to come out and give us a survey and that was Josiah. He did a good job. We never had a security system before so it's a little bit new to us. I thought one of the things we were gonna get was a video of anybody that came to the front door. To the best of my knowledge, I have not seen that yet. But we are still in the midst of moving and we haven't paid a whole lot of attention to it. We haven't read the manuals and the directions. The other day, I rushed out of the house without turning the alarm off and realized it a little too late, but I came back in and I turned it off. But then I got a call from ADT to make sure everything was okay. They were pleasant and professional.

The rep came out here and he installed the system. Everything is working great. If somebody taps on the window or door, it turns and you know which window or door it is. I'm satisfied. ADT is protecting my home.

The lady who signed me up for my contract with ADT and sent the salesperson and tech out is a big liar. She said that I have to pay $99 to get the tech out and then I would get $100 Visa credit back on my card. She said I was gonna receive an email and instructions on how to get the Visa. She charged my card $104 and I never got the Visa. I called ADT who kept calling me to see if I was gonna take the plan they were offering me. I told the reps that their calls were confusing as I had already become a customer and so why would they be offering me plans. I told them that I never received my Visa card and the rep I was speaking to told me to call a certain number. I did that and another ADT rep said that I was gonna get an email but then I never did.
The installation was good though. The rep tried to explained what plans ADT had. I was a little confused at the time because there was a plan that I agreed to and still the tech showed me all the plans and all their equipment. He told me how much I had in credit and what I could and could not add. What the tech suggested for me was much more than I could afford. Other than that, I like everything about my ADT system.
Hello Denisa. We apologize for the trouble with the visa card. You should've received an email from Elite on the redemption process. If not, please let us know so we can follow up to help address that further for you. -Andrew

My daughter looked ADT up for me and the rep came out maybe a day after. He was a gentleman. When you go out the door, it says exit and when you open your door, you go out and it tells you, which is good.

The company that did our house inspection are co-companies with one called Porch. They helped us with any resources that we needed and brought up ADT. The person from ADT who helped us did a really good job and answered any questions that we had. They had an idea of what would work here, but the guy who came out to the house knew what would work best in our house. The installer was very friendly, talkative, just a down-to-earth guy. He was very nice and could really keep a conversation going, so it was not awkward having a stranger in your house.
I really like having the app. It makes things easier. The only annoying thing is I get an email every time we log into it. I have to go through my emails, because otherwise, it will just be a bunch of unread emails. Having the keypad is nice if, for some reason, my phone dies or I just can't reach my phone at the time, so that's also a plus. I like the locks that they put on our door. It also has like a keypad. So, we have a few options on how to get into the house, if for some reason my phone was unavailable, and the key fob was unavailable. It's nice to have multiple options.
However, we've had some issues with one of the sensors on our door. We have three doorways to get into the house and our side door, it always reads as open. It never reads as it's closed or locked. And while I was away, while the system has been armed, it has gone off a few times when no one came in, no one tried to break in or anything. It goes off randomly. But overall, I've had a pretty good experience. ADT is everything that we are looking for with protecting our house. It's nice to have the security there as a just in case. We feel a bit better having it.

We had ADT years ago. We got them recently and my experience with them was good. However, they weren't clear when they were giving us the sales pitch and they were gonna get an extra $800 in products. When the tech came to set everything up, I was thinking I was getting an additional camera. They gave me the camera, but they didn't tell me that they don't give all of the software needed to run the camera.

I was looking for a security that was not going to be that expensive. I was calling and comparing prices. I was trying to get a security system from another company but ADT's number popped up. So I ended up with ADT. The little fellow was very nice and he was the reason I went with them in the end. But the way that ADT handled me was disturbing. It was like a bait-and-switch kind of situation.
I told ADT all the facts and put everything on the table. I even told them that I sell alarms myself for a company and they were too expensive for me. Once they explained the system to me, I told them that I wasn't willing to pay more than the 27.99 that they were advertising. So I wanted to see if I could agree with whatever I could get for that deal and we would schedule a date. The guy went and got his supervisor after I told him what the deal was. The supervisor came on and asked how many windows I had. I counted all the windows and it was about 17.
After we went back and forth, back and forth, the supervisor said that they would take care of it for no equipment charged and all I would have to pay was $100 and something as an activation fee. Then I would pay the 27.99 a month. I even repeated to him that I was gonna get all the equipment for $1,500. But I didn't have to pay anything to get started but this 100 and something dollar activation fee. Then I would be paying 27.99 a month. They confirmed that so I finally agreed. Then the supervisor said that he was gonna throw in a $100 gift card. I'm gonna wait and see if that comes but I guarantee you they have forgotten all about a gift card.
I called ADT back and they scheduled the appointment to send somebody out. While I was on the phone, they said that they would have to decide the system I wanted. I told them that I already chose what I wanted and I was just confirming all the facts that I got from the supervisor. And they said that they didn't know about that and that they would just have to see it. That didn't make sense to me since we had already done and agreed with the deal. All they had to do was to send an installer and put the system in. A couple of friends were telling me that it was a good deal.
The little fellow came here with all this new stuff and then he started looking and counting the windows again. I then asked him how much this would cost me. But he said that it would depend on which package I would choose. I told him the same thing. But in the end, he said that they had a problem with the 27.99 because I didn't have internet. I wasn't getting any smart stuff so I didn't know why I needed the internet. But he said that if I didn't have a phone in the house, then he would have to put something in that would make it 36.99 a month. And then with another plan, it was going up to 50 something dollars.
I told them that we didn't need to have that conversation. I'd be paying 27.99 just like I saw in that advertisement. I told them that from the beginning so they wouldn't waste their time and send these people over here. So, the guy said he would call his supervisor. So, they went through that used car salesman thing again with me. But I sat down patiently 'cause I already made up my mind what it was gonna be.
When the guy finally got ready to put in the equipment, he said that if they put in the 17 windows, they would have to charge me 300 and something dollars for the windows upstairs 'cause they were not gonna be able to do that for the $1,500 discount that they gave me. So I told him to just forget it. I didn't have to have the system. I didn't like them 'cause I didn't like liars. But the guy insisted that I needed the security on the property and kept telling me that I would need to choose a package. In the end, he said he would put in some of those things on the windows and he would this little thing that would make a sound when you open the door on the glass sliding door.
The guy didn't put any on any of the windows upstairs. But he put a sensor that would go off if anybody would come upstairs. But if they come through one of the windows up front, they won't even have to come by this sensor, so that isn't right. He said that I could pay the 300 or something dollars. I wasn't doing that. I just let him go on and do those things. I still don’t have the things on the windows where they can go up and down.
This is a three-year contract, 27 something dollars. What I will do is I will go back to put either my alarm for later on or I will call another company later on and let them come out and do the smart thing when I get the internet. I know that's more money, but I don't mind. I was just trying to be protected right now. I don't trust ADT but I'm here and I'll pay the bill on time. We won't have a problem.

I was with Comcast for about seven years with their home security service and I had problems constantly. But I when had ADT, they had great customer service and their tech was knowledgeable. My service is outstanding so far and I haven't had any issues. I love Protect Your Home ADT and both our equipment are good. When I signed up, their sales reps gave me a cool deal and even added some stuff to it. They were trying to make sure that I was happy with the services that I would be having, and I was. I wanted a lot of equipment and they made that happen with no problem. They went beyond with the stuff that they gave me. Then, on the day that the installers came out, they were knowledgeable and great guys. They did an awesome job and they showed us how to operate the equipment.
They also left their number just in case something went on and said that they would come right back out and fix it. There was one issue that I didn't have enough cameras, and they went right back, got a camera, and brought it right back. So, kudos to them. All in all, I recommend this service to anybody. It makes me feel secure because I am a truck driver and when I'm gone, I need my home protected with my family. My wife feels great about it, too. ADT is perfect.

A friend of mine told me about ADT. She told me that it was working well. I called and they said, “You pay $99 down then we will come out to the house and install the cameras.” I explained to them that I needed just the two cameras - one for the back and one for the front. They told me about the sensors. I said I'd take two for the front door and the back door. They said I would get the key ring with it. It's the key piece where if you're out there and you notice something, you can just press that and get the alarm off. I never got that.
The guy was polite and professional. He was on time and I’m satisfied with the work he did. But when he got here, I didn't understand that I had to come up with $300. Then instead of the $29.99 that they told me that I will be paying monthly, it’s $59.99. I was surprised with that ‘cause I’m on a fixed income. I was gonna call to find out if they can do anything cheaper than that. My friend has two cameras in her home. She has other things too like the key thing. All in all, she pays $20 per month. For just the two cameras and the sensors on the two doors, I should be paying less than that.
The first two to three weeks, it was working. Any time I heard the bell ring, I could just hit the app on my phone and I would see right away. It would pop up and tell me who was there. It would show me the person. But now, sometimes when I hit the app, it takes a long time to load. Sometimes, when it does load, instead of showing me clearly, it just shows black and white. Then it takes a while and it comes up right.
Oh no! We're very sorry to hear of the trouble with the application and for your disheartening experience with the installation! We would love to address your concerns with you further in getting the alarm system issue repaired and reviewing your monthly monitoring rate further if you could please contact our team directly at 1-800-238-2727. I needed to get some security because of a relationship and I chose ADT. My experience has been wonderful. The installers and everybody from the get-go has been nice and professional. They have taken good care of me. I was pleased. The people they sent to my home were knowledgeable and explained everything. It's easy to understand. You make a payment and then all this goes to you owning the system and you're able to move the system with you if you choose the move. It's self-explanatory. To put my system up, it took them two hours. It was quick and easy, and I didn't have any problem at all. The system adds up to my expectations of what I was needing and wanting, and it works well. It's a good system. The people are awesome and I highly recommend it.

I'm very pleased with ADT. The only caveat was we had a salesman come out to go over with the system that we wanted, but we weren't moving into the house yet and we didn't have WiFi yet, which didn't tell us. He came out and he priced out the whole system for us and he planned the whole thing out. Months later, we called back to have everything and for them to come back in and install it, and they had no idea what we had already planned out. So, it was a complete new sales call from the beginning.
It was a little frustrating because we're in the middle of trying to get situated and set up and I didn't have three hours on a Saturday to devote to this. I just thought they were coming and putting all the sensors in and that was it. The second salesman was wonderful, very knowledgeable and didn't push us too hard to do certain things. We went kind of on the lean side with the system because we wanted to try and see what our needs would be, and then go from there and see if we needed to add additional things. So far, it's working okay as far as what we need. We're great with the app. It's so easy to use.

He was also very respectful of my home, especially during COVID-19.

The sales representative was a nice person that answered our questions. We had experience with ADT, but for the house that we moved into now, he seems to know a lot about what he's talking about. And it was quick, which was good. The guy that came by and installed the system was knowledgeable and cleaned up after himself. He told us how to use the product. The only thing is that when those flyers are going out, it's saying one thing, but when a rep comes out, it's like another thing. I would've thought that we were able to get a system and the sensors we needed for a certain price that is as on the flyer, only that it's not all the way true.

The experience with ADT was nice but I would supposedly get $1,600 worth of equipment. When he came, he had $400 plans and I said that for $1,600 dollars, I would get three alarms for my three doors. He put two in there and that was it. He put two motion sensors in here and that was all he did. It wasn’t worth $1,600. I thought I was getting a video doorbell but he said he couldn't put it on because he needed electric. I thought it ran by battery and it was gonna be wireless. The installer put the equipment on the wall and then drilled. There were no wires but there had to be a wire that went through the wall. He put the module on the wall that you turn on and he plugged it in right down below. Then, I had to clean up the residue. He didn’t make any attempt to clean it up.

Everybody knows about ADT. My wife's grandmother had it. That's where I've first seen it. It also has a reputation as being on the better end of home security systems as far as windows and doors, calling the police, etcetera. The guy during the installation was extremely knowledgeable. He was fantastic. He is probably way smarter than the position he serves in. When he left the house, everybody knew exactly how to use that thing. It was a great experience. I told them I was with the military. They gave me extra kinda money towards whatever I was trying to do. They really looked out for me.

I called ADT, spoke to a sales rep and set up my appointment. The guy that came who installed our system, who was also a sales rep, was probably new. He was really nice and great, and I assumed he knew what he was talking about. But he drilled two big inch-and-a-half holes into my wall to fish a little shoestring wire. And then he had to move the system twice. So, I had three big holes in my wall l that I had to fix. And then, I had a third guy come out to fix the center that wasn’t installed correctly. But overall, the system seems all right and it’s working out just fine. I haven't had any run-ins with having to use it yet as far as the monitoring, and hopefully that doesn't happen.

I called ADT and one other company, then ADT called back first. I was inquiring on the weekend so I kinda expected ADT to get back to me a little bit better. I'm familiar with the company. We have a house in Florida that has ADT protection on it. I also wanted to enter into a contract with a company that's gonna be around. Dakota was here twice. We had some issues with my Wi-Fi and with ADT’s servers being down the day that everything was installed. One of the cameras that he had wasn't working.
It was a two-day install. It gave me one day to play with things by myself. My system is a little bit more surveillance than security, so he showed me how to use the website, how to set up cameras and fields and different parameters, and answered any question that I didn't quite understand after the first day. So there was a benefit to having him in the house for two days. He was courteous and good at explaining things. He was prompt and came back like he said he would, and that's all appreciated.

We’ve had ADT for a couple of weeks and the installation took a while but it was okay. It was finished in one day. When we opened the window in the living room though, one of the motion sensors fell off. It wasn't glued properly or the glue didn't stick properly. Also, the installation guy was telling us that for three days, it was gonna be like a test. Sometimes it's gonna work, sometimes it's not. I want to know if the test is over and that it is accurately working. Aside from these, we were supposed to receive a $100 reward card. Other than these concerns that I have right now, everything is okay. I like how the system is easy to operate. The sound is too loud though and I don't see any sound feature on there to put the volume up or down.

Everything's been great with ADT. The installation was fine. But where they put it was not okay. Originally, it was gonna be okay. We were gonna see about having it moved somewhere else because it's in a really awkward spot, but I'll just live with it. I liked their promotion that I heard on the radio and when I called, everything was all great and dandy. But then when the guy got here, it was a whole different set of things. So, I feel like it was a little blindsided and not completely upfront with what I was gonna be responsible for. When I called, the radio promotion was a $99 installation fee and you just pay for the service, and you get credit for equipment. When the guy got here, he said I need to make two payments of about $500, and we said, "No." He worked it down a little bit. We still ended up having to pay $400 extra. I don't think it was very upfront with that. Other than that, after having the system installed, I like the security and safety it gives me.

We've had ADT before, which was how we knew about them. The sales was with the gentleman who came to install the system and we weren’t happy with what happened when they came. When I took the call and we wanted to get ADT, we were trying to save and keep it at a certain amount. The gentleman came here and he was also selling some other things and the installation was $99 so, it became $400. Plus, it went from $27 a month to $59 a month. Prior to all these, we wanted nothing to do with the $59 a month charge. They gave me a free camera but in giving me that, it became that you only could get the $59 charge. So, we didn't get the camera. We got the lowest and we almost canceled.
ADT should let people know whenever they give them something that they move them to a different price range. We wanted to add a camera and the salesman on the phone was nice enough to do that. On the phone, they said that it could be as cheap as $27 and if you get extras, it can be as much as $59. We didn't think we were anywhere near the $59 but once they give you that camera, you can't get any other package but that one, which made it a bad experience.

With ADT, I got promised a whole lot more than I got at the end of the day. I asked if the doorbell camera was included in the $99, and their rep said it is. I was led to believe that things weren't gonna be $300 a pop to add them on. So, I was a little bit upset about that. The installer was great though. The house is under renovation, which was why I wanted to make sure I had the security system in quickly. And during the course of the renovation, the people renovating broke the cord on the panel. When the installer came out to fix it, he was great about it. They did not charge me, which was a good thing. My overall experience was costly, but it was quick. I was very disappointed in the sales pitch that kind of bait and switched me. So that kind of left a bad taste in my mouth. I was promised something that I didn't get. I wouldn't wanna recommend ADT to somebody else and have them wind up in the same situation.

The center wouldn't connect. So it was disconnected for a day. I was gonna just put them together so there would be no issue when I'd go out. It’s just not on where I want it to be because of this adhesive issue and how it's supposed to stick on there. Other than that, the system is simple to use and the more I use it, the better it gets.

I had already been with ADT previously at my other home that I sold. I bought a new home so I just transferred the service over. It was an upgraded model 'cause I got new equipment. It was easy to get an appointment with them. They came right out. There was just a basic $99 installation fee that I was charged and they put all the monitoring devices on all the doors and windows, upgraded screen. It's really easy to use and makes us feel a little bit more secure in the home. Even my kids are able to arm and disarm the panel by themselves. It also helps me keep track of the doors being opened and closed with the kids coming in and out and know who's coming and going. The technicians that came out were very helpful, informative, kind, and sweet. While they were waiting for the system to upload, they were helping me bring my groceries in from the car. They did a great job.

I love my ADT system, but I wish I got the touch one because I'm handicapped. They said I had to get the key one, the one you had to put your code in. It would have been nice if they went ahead and gave me the touch screen one. But other than that, it works great.

The customer service helped me out a couple of days ago when I had to call in. I was having issues with the password. So far, I'm satisfied with ADT. Everything went great. I just had one problem. I had set the alarm to take a shower. I got out, was gonna blow-dry my hair, and the alarm went off. It said, "Basement door." It's called a garage door and it’s downstairs. I waited for ADT to call. No call. The alarm went off so long and quit. I finally found the number to ADT. I called them and the guy was telling me to wait and let him look up my account. I told him that whoever's breaking in, I'll tell them to wait until he finds my account. He said that they called me and there was no answer. I told him that I have my phone in my hand and I asked him what number they have for me. They had the number written and they had it wrong. They had 404 instead of 470, so they were actually calling the wrong number. I ended up having to call 911. I was so afraid. I didn't know what was going on downstairs. He said he called the police and they weren't here yet.
I know he had my number right because he called me as there was a problem getting a confirmation number after he had it installed because computers were down. We exchanged numbers and he said that if it comes back up, he'd come back and finish it up. He actually called me so I didn't understand how my number got wrong. Everybody's been very nice and everything was done correctly except for that. Mistakes happen and I'm afraid I gave the poor guy a hard time when I called because I was freaking out.

My experience with the sales rep was a little deceiving. I saw the special ADT was having for $99. I was told I would get a Visa card to reimburse me. The reason I went with ADT is my house already had ADT in it and I just wanted to add to it and upgrade the panels. When they sent the installers out here, it was a third party. They couldn't use anything from my existing system so I really didn't get an upgrade per se. I didn't get the gift card because he said everything I got took all the credit they gave me.
I was having some issues with the panel they installed and one of the ADT employees came out and told me that if an ADT company employee came out here, they could have used my existing system. I have all the sensors in my doors hidden from my original install. Now, the new install has the ones that go in the outside where you can see it. Everything's wireless and I wasn't real thrilled with that. But the system is working. It's serving its purpose and it's been easy to use it. I've been a cop for 25 years. I know they can come in here and get my stuff before anyone gets here but there's a peace of mind having it. I already had cameras in the house but I know that there are times where I don't have service so at least someone will be dispatched out to the house. ADT makes you feel a little bit more secure.

The guy was probably the most professional and thorough young man that I've ever had install a security system. However, I don't see that kind of data.
The other day, I tried to set off the alarm in the basement. Our smoke detector went on and I let it ring for almost 10 minutes. But then nobody called me. Many times we would open the back door forgetting that the alarm was set but it didn't matter because the alarm wouldn't even go off. The part that made me decide to write a bad review was the type of service I received when I canceled my service due to moving out of the country on military orders. I was first given the wrong information about how to cancel my service and when I was finally contacted by someone over email they drug their feet on getting back to my by 2 weeks and then said my cancellation date would not start until they had decided it should be cancelled not by the day I first contacted them by email.

ADT has very friendly customer service. When I spoke with them, it was a good call. They helped. It was everything I expected. The installation was not as good as I expected it to be though. The installer demonstrated most of the features in the system, but he messed up one of my coffee tables with the sticky tape. He put the lamp on top of it like I wasn't supposed to see it. I had to bring a lamp from the bedroom, and he just moved it over. After he left, I found it when I put the lamp back up. I was a little disappointed with that because it's my new table.
I was upset with the positioning of the door monitors because on my door frame, it has grooves. So, the front door monitors started falling down the first week. I had to call somebody else back out. They said based on the way my frame is, they should have screwed it in instead of just the tape, because it would not have stayed regardless. I actually called the service professional who came out, and he never called me back. There was also a bracket that he took off the door and he never put back on. It was on the front door handle. So I have to, now, get that put back on. As far as the products, I got the doorbell camera. I got the lock down feature where it locks the doors. I got the window protection for shattered glass and motion protectors. So far, all of it works really good. I got the chimes that I like when you open and close the door. I like that.

I spent a lot of money over $4,000 with ADT. The $850 only includes two sensors, the console, and the doorbell on that. I didn't even get the doorbell. So, they didn't give me credit for anything other than the console and the two sensors. Then they charge me $60 a month versus 30. I wish I had to do it over again. I wouldn't have done it.
The rep didn't make it clear in the beginning. He had one sheet filled out how much it would run, and then it was $1 for a day. Then the second sheet that he had me sign was all of a sudden $2 a day. I don't know why, but I signed it. It's water under the bridge now. I should get the coverage for what they advertised on TV. It's almost like false advertisement. The techs were nice. The guy that came at first was very knowledgeable, patient, informative, and wonderful. I set off my alarm once and I didn't know what I did, but I couldn't get my panel to reset. When I locked up the panel, I called that night because I was hoping to get it straightened out so I could arm the system. I wasn't able to get it going. But what bothered me the most was that the guy I talked to kept saying there's $25 for somebody to come out. I said no way I was doing that and that I haven't had this thing a week. He just kept pressing for this $25. When I called again the next morning, of course, they agreed with me. They said they were gonna have somebody come out to reset the panel or find out what's going on with it. I thanked them. They sent another gentleman out. He was delightful, funny, quick, and got me right back on track.
I was wondering about the guy that kept insisting about this $25, was he trying to get a credit card number, a bank card number? That was really weird to me. My thought is that if this guy does this four times a night, that's 100 bucks. It may not seem like a lot, but if he's answering the phone and pressing people for $25, I didn't feel good about that.
I've not been terribly happy. I'm kinda OCD about stuff and so anything affiliated with ADT that I have so far is in a file. I went back into the little folder that they left me just to be sure that everything was okay before I filed it. When I got my flyer out, I noticed some things that were kind of a discrepancy from what was printed and what actually was. I was a little disappointed and really suspicious at that point, so I called customer service. They switched me over to corporate. The flyer that I called from said 27.99 a month. I found out that I was actually paying more because of a phone app. I was thinking why the guy didn't tell me that they were gonna charge me another $30 just to have a phone app. So, I had to lose that just to get down to where the flyer says it would be.
The first person I spoke to at corporate said that they would knock it down to 27 for three months. It should've gone back to the 50-something in November. But when he switched me over to another person, she said that it was only for one month. So, it's just somebody says one thing, somebody says something else. Then I told her that I hadn't received the $100 gift card. I'm on disability, so I have to be really tight with my budget. She said they sent me an email and unless I answered that email, I won't get the $100 gift card. I was counting on that to pay off my credit card because I put it all on my credit card.
Every time I turned around, it was more money. When it was installed, I had to come up with another 68. I put that on my card. It just doesn't seem straightforward. I feel like I've gotten myself roped into something that's just gonna be gouge after gouge after gouge. In the meantime, we discovered that I was supposed to have a shock thing on my sliding glass door. I have the sensor that knows when the door is opened and closed, but I didn't see anything else. There's somebody coming to see if I have that. I feel set up. This day and age, people need security. But it needs to be affordable. You got a three-year contract. It's not like you're not gonna make any money. So, why be slick with people and why slam them with money after money after money? They talk about all the discounts that they're giving. Actually, it's not a discount on anything because they're still digging money out of me every time I see them.
Hello Constance-- We can confirm that the $25.00 is a valid charge and that the person speaking to you was not trying to charge customers in an inappropriate way. At first I was upset because the package that I wanted was a two-camera package to cover the entrance and the side of my house but I only ended up with one camera that came with the installation and $1700 worth of credit.
I couldn't use any of the credit on the installation. I wanted to use part of it for the other camera but it wasn't enough or something like that. So you had to do $299 on a credit card and the rest of it, you have to use up for any equipment. That's what he told me when I was talking to the agent. I think it's in the recording, but who's gonna sit there and listen to all that? When the recording comes on, and you have to okay it, you can't say, "Stop, I didn't understand you." ADT's attitude stinks and my experience with them was lousy. The guy who came to install was sort of pompous and decided that he was here to sell me everything under the sun. I already defined what I wanted because I've had ADT in the past but the system didn't work for four years and I didn't even know it. When I finally realized it wasn't working, I called them and they said they'd send somebody out. But the point was, I never used the system except when I left for long durations. My wife was sick during that time so I stayed home and when I left, she was home and vice versa. I had ADT for almost 16 years at that point and I dropped them.
When I came here, I said I'd give them another shot hoping they had improved. I was also impressed with the simplicity of the product. But the only thing that has improved is their equipment. When the guy came in, he came in early, left late, and spent more time trying to sell me on stuff I didn't want. He came during our lunch hour, so we were trying to get lunch down and he was here working. But he could have done the whole job and left in 10 minutes, plus, he didn't come with any signs. I wanted them put out as they are one of the biggest deterrents. But he said he didn't have any, then he gave me a number, told me to call them and that they'd send the signs to me.
But the number he gave me ran me around in circles and I went through a robot. Finally, after about three attempts, I got to where I could get a sign. I also told the installer that when I leave here, I want the number they call to be changed. He said it was okay but I had to call the number and they'd change it. It turned out that the number he gave me was the same one that put me through the loop. I'll be leaving this number in a few days as I'm going to my Ohio house and I shut off all the phones, television, and all here. So the only thing that will be working is ADT. But the bottom line is, it's not worth the hassle.
Aside from that, the sales representative was okay to the extent that something in the phone system dropped. Then, I waited thinking he'd call back, but he didn't, so then I called, and I got a completely different person. I told that rep that I was not going to go through the whole thing again and I was told that they got all my information there. I also found out the reason why the first rep didn't call me back. It was because some high level in ADT decided that the salespeople can never call back the customer during a sales call.
Now, I was vice president of a large corporation and part of my responsibilities included customer service. I may be harsh but the customers loved our company and we got the highest awards six years in a row from Walmart for customer service. And I can tell that somebody who is sitting somewhere in ADT should be fired because anyone would tell the salespeople in this day and age that when calls can get dropped, they should to get the person's number, call him right back, and pick up where you left off. All in all, I'm not a happy camper when it comes to ADT. And next time around when this contract is over, I'm going to switch to an independent one where I put the system in myself and I don't have to put up with ADT and their absolute arrogance.

When my grandson went in and looked at it, it was a spider that came across the lens.

The rep of ADT I spoke to was very informative and upfront about as much as they could at the time without the rep being able to come to the house and take a look around. The installer was fantastic. He did what he could do. He was really good at explaining things and taking the assessment of my place and making sure that my security needs are being met. My automatic lock’s being a little tricky and I need to call somebody about that. But other than that, everything's been good. I've been happy with everything so far.

I first considered ADT since they have been around a long time and it's probably one of the most trustworthy. Then I got the ad in my email and went from there. The rep I talked to was pretty good. It was definitely a positive feel. I was really doubtful if I'd do it or not, even though I put down the 107 already. Then when the guy came over, we talked and he didn't leave 9:30 on the night he installed the stuff. He did a really good job. I was really confident after that. $30 a month is not that much even though I'm not here at least six months of the year and he made me comfortable in getting that. I've got the panel on the wall and the door alarm when it's opened. I've also got one breaking glass alarm and then I've got an open alarm on my laundry room. But I didn't get the smartphone app because I didn't wanna go that much expense. He said it would be about 48 basic up to 63 every month.

ADT is the number one company and the fact that the service is connected to the police and the fire department gives me peace of mind. I have a young kid and I'm able to keep him monitored. I don't worry about anything because I know he's fine. When I originally got with them, a gentleman came out from Defenders with ADT shirt. I have an apartment with two bedrooms and front and back doors. So I wanted camera. He told me that the cameras did not come with it and that I had to pay for cameras later on down the line. He said he would have to hardwire it. He also made an excuse saying, "What about your landlord?" My landlord was fine with it. I had already checked with him before the man even came out. Then he said he didn't have a ladder.
He put up these sensors on the front and back doors. But the next day, the sensor from the front door fell off. It continuously falls off because it’s not really mounted well. I spoke to more than 12 ADT managing Defender/ADT people. They kept bouncing me around. I was on the phone from midnight until about 1:00 in the morning talking to a rep, securing me that I made a good choice.
Sometimes, you have to be a little bit more in detail about things because people will take advantage, and they took advantage. The rep only gave me $600 worth of equipment rather than $850, which they had to give me a credit of about 200. I went ahead and bought the cameras that I needed. But they won't install them because they're not ADT brand. Also, they didn't have the cameras that I needed. People should make sure they go over their contract and that they're dealing with ADT directly and not an affiliate. Because personally ADT is the best. When they came out, everything was wonderful. But as long as they let this Defender affiliation person come out, I had to keep calling.
Hello Florence-- Defenders, AKA Protect Your Home was purchased by ADT. ADT and Protect Your Home, AKA Defenders are now one company. Thank you for choosing ADT and for allowing us to serve you. If you decided to add cameras connected to your ADT system, please give our corporate sales team a call directly at (888)-211-8563, so that they may go over the details with you.

We have had a system on our other house where we moved from and when we moved here, I wanted the peace of mind of having a security system because of all the crazy stuff going on. I've had other people, then I got to look at companies, and ADT has been in the business for years, so I figured I'd give them a shot. And I’ve been real pleased so far. The installer who came out was a really nice young man and he did a very good job. The system is easy to use and it's fast. And if I got the little button in my hand but it’s dark and I can't see it, I go to the app as I don't wanna mash the wrong button. We wanted to do Comcast because we had Comcast previously, but they're no longer in the security system. We knew that ADT was a good bet for that area of security. The sales representatives were informative and nice. They told me that we would own the equipment, but they didn't give us a range of pricing. We were a little shell shocked when the tech came and showed us a $3,000 bill. But other than that, it was good. The tech that came to install was knowledgeable and pretty efficient. We're in a suburb right now and I feel pretty secure in general. It's just an added layer of protection. The money aspect of it is a little much compared to other providers, but the actual experience is fine.
Hello Kelly-- You made the right decision by choosing ADT. ADT does not try to save costs by contracting companies that are based overseas, to monitor you. ADT also performs complete security checks on their employees, something that may be hard to do when utilizing third parties. In other words, you get what you pay for and you will not regret going with the best!

So, only use it when we leave the property. We haven’t been away so we have no reason to turn anything on. But we hope it’s doing its thing.

I bought a home and they had a system already installed. I was calling to see if I could get that system reprogrammed and they referred me to ADT. They came out and looked at the system. They didn’t say they could reprogram it though and that they would offer me something newer for a cheaper price. But the guy that came out to do the installation was knowledgeable and honest about what everything would cost as well as the level of protection that he thought I needed versus the level of protection that I didn’t need, which was good. I didn't feel like I was pressured to making a decision or buying things that I really didn't need at the time.
So far, I like that you can control the system through an app on your phone. That's really helpful. I have younger kids and if I want to, I can arm the system when they leave home. Or when they come back, they can send me a text to tell me that they're home and I can deactivate the system. With ADTm I don’t have to give out the passcode to everybody and I don’t have to worry about my parents getting it wrong or having an issue with different family members staying with us.

I previously used ADT. I called Duke Energy to transfer service from my old house to my new house. And then they connected me over to a third-party company, talking to me about cable service, and then security service. I was interested in the security with ADT, so the rep then transferred me over to another rep with either ADT themselves or Protect Your Home. It was a guy that first spoke with me. But it was breaking up, so he transferred me over to a manager who then said that I had a $850 credit to go towards the equipment. And talking with her, she then gave me another $850 for equipment credit. I had $1700 in equipment credit.
When she did that, she said, "That should take care of your second keypad, so that you can have one up in your bedroom and downstairs." I was all excited because I thought I would get the security system and sign a three-year contract for the service, and have it installed for free, which is what she told me. Well, when the rep showed up to evaluate the house, used the $1700, plus, it cost me an extra $1300 out of my own pocket. So, she lied to me on the price of the equipment to secure my house properly. And it's not even 100% secure, where the top windows do not have any window sensors or glass break. So if someone puts a ladder up to my window, they can get into my house and no one will ever know it. And it still cost me an extra $1300. So, what happened with the sales representative that initiated the conversation with me?
The installer explained exactly what I just said - If I would have went with just a plain Jane, bare minimum set-up of a keypad, glass break, smoke detector, which again is one of the things that she gave me, it would be less than $1700." I have dogs. I have kids. I need a glass break in the basement and in the main floor. I also have to get a glass break of every bedroom so that every bedroom is protected. That then might be under the $1700, but everyone’s well protected like it should. Actually, he wanted to really charge me 3000 for what he felt that my house needed. I then had to subtract a few things to have a bit of security.
I did not wanna pay $60 a month, like I am, for the next three years. I thought it would be around 30. And she again, lied to me and did not inform me that you have to have a landline to do that. I don't have a landline. So, again, if someone would cut the landline, it would serve no purpose. I went with one that works through the satellite. And since I already had to pay for that, I went ahead with an automated front door lock. That's nice to be able to unlock the door in case the kids forget the code or forget their key, and just unlock the front door. So far, for what we have set up, it is nice. There is more of a sense of security. It's just that unfamiliarity and not being comfortable with the second level not being protected.

I told him that we have glass doors at the front of our house as well as a French glass door at the back. I was really concerned now that my husband isn't here anymore. There was a security system set up at my house. However, I wanted my box to be in my hallway at the entry point instead of my washroom so that when I would come in or go down the stairs, I would see it. That would then jog me to turn it off. With my ADT system, I just step outside my house and set my system through my phone which is so convenient. With my ADT system, I'm protected and happy. I feel safer with it. The rep explained everything very well.

We had ADT many years ago in a different address. Then we were with a small company that had become unreliable. So we wanted a more national company. But I was not happy with the installation. I told them ahead of time that with my old system, the screens on the windows were alarmed. It would alarm the house when you'd leave a window open for air. I wanted to preserve that feature. Then they went ahead and installed and told me afterward that they couldn't do that with the ADT system. They said that with the way that their technology works, it was not appropriate to alarm the screens. So I was very unhappy. I'm considering having another contractor to come and put in a second system to have the screens alarmed. It's a big problem.
ADT wouldn't let us do the app because of bad internet speed. We also have a separate camera system. We couldn't add a camera with their system if we wanted to, so that didn't work out either. I liked the ease of activating the alarm. But I'm not pleased about the way the lights work on the panel. They're harder to see from a distance. With the old system, it was easy to tell if it was on or off from a distance across the room.

I didn’t like that part ‘cause it didn't give me time to prepare. Other than that, the tech was really good. Then a second guy came to get it done faster. So the service was good.
I went out of town for two days and I felt more secure with leaving the house. So I like the ADT system. I'm still getting used to it ‘cause sometimes I forget that it’s on when I get ready to walk out the door. But one thing I don't like when I'm in the house, the system doesn't make a noise if someone opened the front door. The person who put everything together told me what other people were dealing with through other services. He was really nice. He also had a mask on. He shared everything he knew about it, gave me some discounts, gave me the reasons why things needed to be where, and if I didn't do it, what will be the consequences.

The tech found some minor things that needed to be done. One of the cameras wasn't screwed into the wall and it was kind of flimsy. But we put something around it so the two-year-old don't get ahold of it. My wife ended up forgetting to disable the alarm and set it off. It kinda caught us off guard because we didn't look at the cameras. We didn't see anything. But the only thing that we kinda thought of was maybe the cat shut it off. If there were a way to give ZERO stars, I would. Also, I will be letting every single person I know or come into contact with know to never use this company. And I work for a very large home builder, so that will be a lot of people that will know. I have had issues with my system for a month now. I cannot use the alarm. The alarm goes off every night at 1:15AM and I am unable to go back to sleep due to being woken up in the middle of the night - every night. I call customer service, no one can assist. Three times technicians have been here. Nothing gets fixed. No managers will call you back - you have to call them and wait on hold for hours, and there is never a resolution.
I have had service appointments set for dates and times that have not been confirmed with me, and the only way I know about the appointment time is that I call to report the alarm going off in the middle of the night. I have had service appointments set and then canceled only hours later due to no technician being available. So basically, I was lied to, and o one was ever going to come, they just told me they would so I would be appeased for the moment. I am paying for a service that I cannot use, and paying for a system that I spent thousands of dollars having installed in my home that I regret getting now, due to the malfunction of the system and due to the customer service, or lack there of, that ADT provides. That was frustrating. In the end though, we were able to come up with a plan and a system that worked for us.
I was very comfortable with the man that ADT sent for the installation. I had a bit of trouble understanding him because he was from a different country. With the face mask thing brought about by COVID, understanding him was a bit difficult. Overall though, it was a good experience. It took around five hours to go through the sales pitch up until he completed the installation of my system. I did a fair amount of research, and every place has their good and bad. For me, with ADT, I didn't like the fact that you'll have a contract for so long. Also, the monthly rate was a little bit higher than like SimpliSafe, which didn't have a contract. Everyone's gone wireless right now. No one has to dig into your walls. ADT has the same kind of wireless options with any of the other folks, whether it be Infinity or SimpliSafe. I wanted a technician to come out and advise, and not just kinda be out on my own. Also with ADT, there was a bunch of discounts they were running like veteran's discounts. We were able to get most of our equipment for free. The other three places I looked at, while the monthly rate was lower and the contract term was less, we would have to be paying out of pocket and a couple thousand dollars, which I didn't want to do with all the expenses we had moving into a new house. So ultimately, ADT was the best fit for us.
Also, when we signed up for the service with ADT, it was a stay at home subcontractor that came out. They were very friendly, answered all the questions, gave us a bunch of promotions, and made it worth our while. Had they just said, "Hey, you're gonna have to buy the equipment," I wouldn't have gone with them. They said, "Okay, if you can't do that, this is what I can do for 2,000, spending an extra 300 bucks." It was everything that we wanted, and he was very flexible. Given that they gave us about $1,700 in credits, the install was easy to schedule, and the guy was pretty good, I've been happy with that.
People should be aware that the prices on this stuff can get really expensive, but they also can be reasonable. I would tell people to have a clear idea of, "Hey, this is bottom line of what we put in the budget to spend, and we can do an extra few hundred bucks, but we don't wanna do an extra few thousand dollars." The installer gave us some different options instead of having a sensor on every window, which got really expensive, they have a glass break system. That was really the price differential for us. The house is an older home and it has a lot of windows.
The glass break system is so good that if someone comes over and uses the spare bathroom in the evening, it'll activate. So I need to have someone come out and tone down the sensitivity just a little bit. But it's not a negative. We were concerned. We told them, "We want it to be sensitive. We're actually not gonna put a sensor on every window." But it's hard if we have to tell people, "Don't slam the spare bathroom door or we're gonna have the police here until we can get this adjusted," which they said they would do. I've been very pleased. I did not ask enough questions on how expensive things could be, but the amount of credit was what they told us. Everything they promised, they came through with. All in all, they're very easy to deal with on the phone.

ADT was the best system to install from all the reports that I was seeing online. I was concerned that I had to have a landline to have their system until I spoke to their representatives over the phone. If we would've had to have a landline, then that would've been a game-changer for us. But since everything could be done through the smartphone or wireless, it was a no-brainer for us.
ADT was good but there was just a snag with the installation of our deadbolt lock. The deadbolt was not working properly as far as the app was concerned because there was a snag with the hole in where the deadbolt lock would go into. The tech wasn't able to drill in a little bit deeper. So it wasn't all done the first day that he was out there. He did come back and he figured out what was going on with that. But prior to that, the tech demonstrated everything to us. Then even after the fact after he had everything fixed, he demonstrated that particular feature. Other than the deadbolt system, we also have the monitor in the doorbell. There is also a plug-in feature that we can control on our app with some of the lamps that we've plugged into.
We love the smartphone app. Every once in awhile we've accidentally tripped the alarm in the morning and then we've used the keypad at that point. But other than that, we solely use the app. It works well. We have a 14-year-old daughter who walks home from school. So upon her arrival, she is able to unlock the door through the app and then disarm the system too. That has worked out very well. We're very satisfied with ADT and we talk to our in-laws about it as well.

They were at my house on Thursday with the new system. The gentleman was very good. He did what he had to do, and he didn't put it up quick and make a mistake. He took some time and did it right. The installer ran over the grid with me and my wife. We use the smart phone app and it’s just easier. All I gotta do is get on my phone, open the app, disarm the system, arm the system and we go.

I was with one of the competitors and I didn't like the way their service was. Their price was also about two times higher than ADT. When I signed up, the ADT rep I talked to did a very good job and was very helpful with the information. The installer was also very knowledgeable and he knew what he was doing. He was an experienced person and I liked that. He did it as quickly as he could and there were some circumstances that day that took him longer than normal, but things happen. The whole year 2020 has been like that. Then he had to come back three days later for a follow-up on some stuff that weren't working correctly. So he came back and started going again. All in all, I like the Smart Home feature of the system where I can control it from my phone if I happen to get out of the house and that was what I was after.

He had to come back because the first time, he couldn't get it put in because the internet was down. He came back two or three days later and got it installed. We've been happy ever since.

My contract with another company expired, so I thought I'd give ADT another try. I had ADT before. Before I left, I couldn't keep the same monitoring fee but I started out with one monitoring fee. This time, it was supposed to be 27, but it ended up being higher because of the equipment. So with that being said, I had the option to say no, but I went ahead anyway because I wanted my home protected. The person from ADT over the phone was pretty professional. And everything was fine with the gentleman that came out to install the equipment.
The system is working really good. I had to pay for some other things out of my pocket also. I still ended up spending several hundred dollars. Then, the key fob wasn't left with me. When the gentleman was out here, he didn't leave a sign in the yard. I had to call and tell him that I needed a sign put in the yard. He might've been in a hurry but for whatever reason, they had to schedule another appointment where they had to bring the key fob back out and bring the pamphlet showing how to operate the system. I had to schedule another appointment to do it. So I spent time out of my day waiting at home for them to bring that out and program it. They also never sent my $100 Visa card. I haven't heard anything about that.

The sales rep from the 3rd party company of ADT was too pushy. He was pushy and was expecting to install. I was asking for a quote from him 'cause I was getting multiple quotes when I was making a decision on what security system to get. Also, there were issues with his workmanship when he ran the wires outside my place. Plus, the cameras he installed were terrible. I had to have other ADT people come back out the next day and they did an excellent job. Also, there was a piece of equipment that he put in our system that we don't use. It is a device through which we can turn our lights on from our car when we get home. We have timers on our light switch and we have our lights come on. Still, there was no way of getting credit from ADT for it and returning it to them.

We work so far away from the house and when we're gone during the day, we have critters in the house, like dogs and cats. We get notification that said we lost power and that we're now on battery backup for our security system. Knowing that we lost power at 10 in the morning and I hadn't come home in a couple hours, we know the animals in the house are gonna get hot, especially in the summertime. So then we can come home and take care of it. We also get the notifications to our phone when we lock. It's neat because we can unlock before we even get out of bed. We have dogs so the first thing we do is we open the door and let the dogs out. So it's really cool. We don't have to walk over to the pad. I can do that from my phone and lock it whenever we leave. So far, ADT has been really good.
The technician that came out was a young man. He was very professional and he answered all the questions. I wasn't home whenever he got here. He talked to my wife and my stepson were here. He talked to them and then went over everything before he ever installed anything. He understood what the system was gonna do. He was very knowledgeable. When I got home about an hour after he had been here, he went through the whole thing all over again to make sure I understood. He was exceptional.

I work with the Department of Homeland Security, so I'm traveling 9 to 11 months out of the year. I wanna be able to monitor where I live because I noticed things in the community have changed and the standards have been lowered a bit. It's better to be safe than sorry and I live alone. I went online to see who were the best and ADT was one of those. I don't like contracts but I wanted the best that was available to me.
The work was done well. But I'm upset about the contract that I'm in. I wasn't told that I didn't have enough voltage for my doorbell to ring. Then, I didn't read the contract which stated I only had three days if I wanted to get out of this contract. If I want out, I gotta pay 75%, which is $1600 for services that I don't even have. I'm stuck in a 36-month contract. And now, I have to pay an electrician to put a transformer in to get enough voltage for the camera to work. They said they'd call the police and the fire department for me. I can dial 911 myself. I don't need to pay them $64 a month for that.

My car was stolen from my house, so I needed to get a system in, which is what the camera on the doorbell was for. The person that came out took five hours to put the system in. My wife was at home with our two kids at that time and he didn't walk my wife through on how the system works. He was not very attentive to what my wife was trying to do and it made it pretty difficult after the installation. He also put the monitors and stuff like that in weird places throughout the house. One of them was two feet from the floor. I have a one-year-old and a two-year-old and they keep reaching at it to grab it. I was hoping that he could have put those in a better spot with the kids. That didn't happen.
Then we got the Ring doorbell with video camera. One of the techs came out and looked at it recently. Apparently, the amps from our doorbell, from the one that are stock in the house are not enough power to have the video camera work. It also continuously rings the doorbell over and over and over again because it's not getting enough power to it. I could get an electrician to come out and increase the amps. But that would have been something I would have liked to have known whenever the technician that installed the system in the first place was out to do that. Now, I feel like I'm stuck having to figure other things out and having to find a way to make it work, which I thought they would do whenever they first came out.
We had a tech come out and another person come out and they moved one of the monitors. I also need to have an electrician come out now to fix the amps at the doorbell so there's nothing that ADT can do now at this point. It's frustrating. I paid $1,200 for a system that doesn't work. It hasn't been great. We still need and want the system so I'm trying to get it fixed. It's just the installation has been awful.

I would like a little more flexibility on what I'm able to do on a sensor-to-sensor basis. So, for example, I have the time going off whenever a door is open, but I really only want that on the front door. I don't necessarily want that on all the doors. I wanted it but I'm on a fixed income and I wasn't able to get that. They could give a better deal on that and make it more affordable.
I'm getting the rate of having a doorbell camera. I’m paying the extra 10 to have the keypad that will get me ready for the doorbell so I wouldn't have to change the keypad out. But one thing on my keypad is it's very loud and sometimes it would wake up somebody in the house when I open the door. The installation of my ADT system was a real mess. I've been offered an alarm system with two key fobs and a touchscreen panel. I never have been able to talk to the people that sold me the system again. I told the installer, "Oh, I gotta go to work. My kid and my wife is gonna stay here. My wife is at work. My kid can communicate with me or whatever." That was what I told ADT how it was gonna be before they came over here. The installer said, "Well, if you're not gonna be here, I can stop." A minute later, he said, "Yeah, I guess I can install it, but you have to sign by email." I told him it was not a big deal.
My wife texted me and told me that there no key fobs. She didn't know about the deal. She didn't know why there were none of that. On top of that, I didn't wanna involve her because she was gonna be busy working. So I said, "No, that's supposed to be two. So I'll call when I get home." I work all day and when I came home, the person left my house. I called when I got home, it was the Labor Day weekend, so it was gonna be a long weekend. I knew I only had three days to cancel the whole deal. So then, I talked to somebody, they told me their office would not open until Tuesday. Tuesday was more than three days. I couldn't wait that long.
I waited until the next day and I kept thinking about it, and I knew I gotta call somebody. Somebody gotta give me an answer. So, I called and they gave me the local number. There were two companies involved. One is ADT, and one is something else. I talked to the other company. I talked to somebody and that person finally was able to tell me, "Okay, we're gonna give you the two key fobs, and they're never being changed." The key fobs are supposed to be dropped off on Thursday. On Thursday, somebody called me after 11:00 to let me know that it was gonna be late getting there. It was supposed to be between 11:00 and 3:00.
I said, "Look, till 5:00 you have because after that, my kid's gotta go practice and nobody's gonna be at home." Somebody showed up, and then he told me he was the manager and he was gonna install it because they've got nobody else available. He personally was gonna do that and get the key fob programmed. But then, he came at about 5:30. I thought he was still in my house. He didn't say none of that. What he said was, "I'll call in to collect the payment for you." I said, "Payment? What're you talking about it?" He said it was for one key fob. I said, "Look, I already talked to many people about this, and I'm not gonna get into this with you again. You can now leave there, pack everything, take everything, put everything how it was, and we're done here." He said, "You're gonna have to cancel. We're gonna have to cancel this, and then I'll call you in a couple of days to find out what time I wanna come here and take everything back."
Nobody called, so it looked to me like he was trying to get some money for me even after I had an agreement. On top of that, I was specific and asked somebody had to go to a record and call when they offer me this system. Nobody wants to confirm or check a phone call that had been made to me, and it's a recorded line, to see what I've been offered. I'm still waiting for somebody to come and fix whatever was wrong here. But the thing is I had a company before and two sensors need to be replaced, and they did not have the replacement for free. But when I called to cancel, they said, "We'll replace it for free." We gotta work every day. I don't have time to be dealing with that crap every day.

But after I did ADT's orientation and a visit with one of their technicians, he explained to me how ADT's system is better in the sense of break-ins. ADT also kind of network their whole company around security. That definitely had some sort of influence over me because when he explained the system I had versus the system that he was offering me, I saw all the reasons why I should change. The sales was phenomenal. The young lady kept making it more enticing for me to switch in terms of giving me all their promotions that they had available including a gift card for my initial $99 to have the technician come out. I haven't received that yet though.
As far as the technician himself, he is probably one of the best sales/technicians I've ever met. He was on point and very patient. He spent almost half of his evening at my house just waiting on me to make a decision. He said, “Take your time. Do all your pros and cons and see which one is gonna work out for you better.” We sat down and spoke about it. He showed me all the devices that they had. I really was impressed by the break-in devices that they put in the windows that detects if somebody tried to smash my window versus after they get into my house. We like the cellular aspect of ADT and its reputation. The experience was wonderful over the phone. We loved what they told us over the phone about using our old equipment. However, when the installers got there, they said we could use none of the old equipment. So it went from us, paying about 50 bucks for them to come and install, to us, paying almost $3000 to get everything installed. The experience with the technicians was pretty cool though. There were a couple of things that weren't right, and they came back and made everything right. Part of the initial slip-up is we wanted every window covered, and they didn't cover a couple of windows in the garage. They didn't bring enough stuff, so when they came back, they took care of it. So far, it seems to be working well.
However, the Xfinity was way easier to use and the app's way better. The app was as soon as you click on a camera, you could click on the screen and it would pull up all the events. There was nothing to do. You just hit any event you want to see, and it will play back that event live to you. Maybe I'm just not used to ADT yet. I had a package delivered to my house yesterday, I'm in Colorado, and it was signed for by my neighbor, which was fine 'cause they pick up my packages. But I got the Ring on the doorbell thing and there are no events recorded.
This one, we haven't been able to playback any event. So that's the biggest thing. If that would happen and if that could be fixed then I would be happy with it. One other thing, too. I was supposed to receive money, a Visa card for signing up and I haven't received it. I don't know where that comes in or how. They sent me a link and it was so complicated to do the link that I don't even know when I get it, if I get it, or what.

The second time a guy came out, he knew what he was talking about because as soon as he checked my upload speed, he said the first guy should have never put these cameras up. All I wanted and cared about were the cameras. I would have never signed the contract. The guy on the phone told me one thing and then another guy showed up here. He was an actual salesman and told me a whole different story than what I was told on the phone. It's like a scam there.
Also, at first, I was told I was gonna get five free cameras but I only got three. And I ended up paying $1,000 for all the other stuff for the windows and the fire alarm. Then they knocked that down to 800 and they gave me $200 back because they said I overpaid. They're supposed to review my case and get back to me, which they haven't done yet.
Then, the sticky thing fell out of the window five days later and set the alarm off at 3 o'clock in the morning. I got a little five-year-old and he was running downstairs scared to death. It was kinda scary and plus, getting phone calls shutting it off. In my mind, I was like, "Something's just messed up because he just put it in." It wasn't a very good experience. We got a system in before and it was a system that we got when we moved into the house. So, we were never very pleased with that.

The ADT rep was very good. The installation went okay but the system wasn't installed where we discussed, but it was fine. Everything is functional. My favorite feature is the access for me to do everything from my cell phone.

I couldn't get ahold of my other security options as there was no phone number for them so I switched to ADT. They are a good group and I can get ahold of them. I talked with their sales guys and they were really nice and professional. They felt right at home. The installation took less than an hour and the installers explained it all really well. I like how my system is set up. It's easy to use and it's convenient.

The ADT system is pretty intuitive and I like the different features it has. I also like the mobility of it with the app on the phone. The setup process was fairly simple. The decision to go with them came down to the price and the services they offered, as well as the long-term benefits of the warranty and so forth. But overall, I was a little bit disappointed when they were selling me the system. They weren't completely transparent with everything, as far as the costs that were associated with it. So when the tech arrived, there were some additional costs that I wasn't expecting, along with some monthly fees. Aside from that, the product itself was good.

I've had Vivint in the past and I didn't really want to go with them again. ADT is known and when I was looking at online reviews, they were saying that the system was more secure and couldn't be hacked as much as other systems. The sales rep I talked to was good and the installers who came out seemed like they were knowledgeable about the product. So far, everything is pretty good but when I'm touching numbers on the side of the panel, which is a touchscreen, there's a little thing in the middle that seems messed up.

ADT had some kind of offers like a discount. I went with them and so far, it's good. I haven't had any issues. There were two guys for the installation and they were good. I liked the app on my phone and when someone disarms the alarm, you'll see who did it. I'm very satisfied.

My wife is elderly and I wanna be able to look on her if I'm away. What I wanted was security, a fire alarm, door locks, cameras and maybe one motion detector. I told the people at ADT when I first made the order what I wanted and what I needed but the technician didn't have that equipment when he got here. He probably didn't get a word. They have to come back to bring back the other equipment that they didn't have. Their price is kind of steep for monitoring and there were also no backup batteries in the cameras. If it goes, you have to plug the cameras into the wall to get power. If they don't have the power, they can't transfer to the receiver. But it's my fault 'cause I didn't understand the system before they came out here. I did not realize the cameras would not move when you control. I should have asked more questions. But that technician was very helpful. He showed me everything and explained what to do about things.
I was gonna cancel 'cause they didn't have the system set up and I had three days to cancel the service from the day I signed the contract. Another thing is when I called about that, I couldn't get a direct answer out of the people I've talked to whether it was the day this was installed or the day I signed the contract. That was a big confusion there. I told them to give me the number and I was gonna cancel. One of the representatives called me back and asked me about what my complaint was, and I explained to her. She was the one that assisted me and that took care of the problem. In fact, she paid for the equipment.

I grew up with ADT and my father and I loved it. It was secured. I saw that they had a special for $28 online. So I called them up and had a rep come over the house and he discussed the system that I needed for the house. A lot of bad things happened to my house and I needed some kind of security. So it would be nice to get into detail with them. I loved the system that they got and I wanted to put it in. Also, it was only for 28 bucks a month. I told the rep that I was looking for a package deal. The security that I have inside the house is 100% excellent and I love it. But it is only gonna help me inside the house, so I also need cameras outside. The ADT salesman said that their special was for inside only. The price would come out over $4,000. So I told him that I didn't know if I could afford it.
The salesman said that they were giving the system for free. All I had to do was to do what I wanted inside the house and they could do the cameras once they got the house done. I didn't get a labor bill to install the alarm system and I did get the system for free. I was freaking out and when I got done, I told my neighbors to call ADT and grab their special. My house is secured. I'd walk in the house and then I'd go for the panel really quickly. I love this system. I need security especially with this epidemic and I have them.
Now, this is the problem. The salesman told me that if he put cameras on the house, he would put ADT in a liability. He couldn't put ADT cameras. So I asked what he would recommend and he told me to go to any hardware store and pick the best system that I could possibly afford. Then I would have to make an appointment and they would send a guy over and hook it up for me. I also told him that I didn't have internet service so he told me to specifically ask for a system that could be connected without WiFi internet. So I bought the best system at Home Depot and it was called Night Owl. I then called and they transferred me to this woman. The lady set up an appointment to have a technician come to my house. She also asked if I bought the system that I wanted because I told them that I didn't have internet WiFi and that was what I bought. It was a four-camera with some kind of monitor that didn't need WiFi internet.
Now, the guy, Michael, showed up and he said that they would only deal with ADT equipment. I shouldn't have bought the cameras. He told me that no technician was gonna show up and hook up the system that I got and that I should call the ADT office immediately. So there was a misunderstanding here. I got the right system but the salesman that I spoke to lied to me. Michael is an excellent employee. I learned something knowledgeable and he didn't finger point or anything. He said that I should've gone with the ADT cameras when they came over the house to put in the system. He also confirmed that I did get the system for free.
I called ADT and they told me that they wouldn't hook up anything from any store that didn't have their name on it. They said that I had been mishandled and they would take care of it for me. I had been on the phone trying to figure out why I had to pay for the internet. I gotta pay for a monthly payment that went from 28 to like $70 a month.
What knocked me off my feet was that Michael said that he could send a guy over and hook up the system. The technician would come over and hook up for cameras as quickly as possible because they saw that I needed it because of the tampering and robberies that I had. But it would be for 1,800. Another guy said 2,000. The cheapest one to hook up the cameras for my house within the next couple of days was $1,500. I almost keeled over. I was made to feel good that I didn't owe $4,000 for the system inside the house. But now, I would need $2,000 for a guy to come over to put ADT cameras. I need to get my cameras in the house but I can't afford $1,800 or $2,200.

I thought that ADT had the lower pricing compared to other companies. A good technician that came out to get everything set up, they were offering $100 reward back. I just had an alarm panel, like the key fob that I could use. However, the appointment was so far off from the time. I had to wait all the way from 1st to September to get it set up. When I got it set up, the appointment was from 8 am to 9:00. The technician card closer to nine o'clock in the morning. I said, "Is there any way I can reschedule it for later in the day because I have to go to work?" I had a first thing in the morning meeting. He was like, "We'll call you."
When he called, he said, "I'll be there 15 minutes." I told my boss, "I'll leave because I have to go and take care of this stuff, and I'll be back." Thinking that giving them an hour or so that they can go ahead and do this easy set-up because it is an apartment on the first floor. I have so many windows here, and then two doors. The technician came and he's in training. When I started, they were going through the pricing. He was like, "Okay, your pricing's gonna be $330." I was thinking, "What? I just paid $100 just to have them come out. What do you mean 300? I have never paid that much for ADT." Then he was like, "We're gonna give you this glass break door thing. It's this little piece that we put in the middle of the hallway."
I was like, "Okay," Cause I got windows all the way to the back of my bedroom, and I'm paying almost $400. I've never paid this amount, but I've always had every window secure with little fobs on each one. If you were to open up the window, you would hear it, side window, front window. So I needed to get that. Then, I got that little glass break piece they put all the way down almost to the front room. My apartment is 1,275 square foot. Then, on top of that, they put the motion detector in the front room, and then I get a camera and an electronic panel.
I really expressed that I really enjoyed having the service with ADT because I like the fact they have a key fob. In case of emergency or anything, I can just hit that. Even walking up to the door, you can hit that panic thing. I didn't get any of that. Then, when they went to go set up the code for it, I had to rush them at this point because it was now almost two hours that they were there. I was leaving for work.
They were like, "It's really easy to set it up and just drill it in, and then do a couple of things." After that, they were programming the box. As they were programming the box, he told me, "Put this code in," and I put the code in for that little first starter code. Now, that same first starter code is the same code that I have to use to lock the system, not the code that I made up to use, the four-digit code. So then after that, I was like, "Okay, great, all that money." Then they said, "Oh, you'll also have to pay for your first month of service." That was going to be $60 on top of that $100 on top of that 330 on top of that $60.
When that contractor came back from his conference call and he was supposed to be with this guy who's only been in business for days, I was sitting there and listening to him say, "Okay. Are you sure...?" Without trying to undermine the new boy, to make him feel embarrassed or insignificant, I tried to say, "Okay, I just wanna make sure." He said, "You're getting the best deal." Then, he said, "Here's my phone number, and you can just call me if you have anything, if you need anything at all, and then I'd be the one to come out. Then, I also gave you an outdoor sign pole thing to put on your outdoor thing."
I never got the little email that said, "Congratulations for signing up for our service. So let's go ahead and get you to fill out the forms so we can go ahead and take two months so you can get your $100", which I already know 'cause I've done this so many times. I moved a lot. I'm in property management. I also had to call in because the chime thing, which goes ringing when you open up the door, didn't do any of that. It was quiet. So I had to ask the lady to help me to set it so that says front door. I also felt like I way overpaid. If I knew that I was gonna $500 almost for this service, I would not have gone with ADT again. Especially because, for that price, I could've gotten Vivint and gotten all kinds of different stuff.

When I lived in the state that I moved from, we had used ADT before so we decided to use them. The rep that I talked to on the phone was very helpful. The installation went very smoothly. So far, we like the package. The system is easy to use and I feel safe with it.

I saw a brochure, a flyer or a pamphlet that showed a special, which was the reason I chose ADT. The features in my package are sufficient for me. There were some technical difficulties during the installation and the installer had to do things manually. He couldn't connect with something that would download it all automatically, so he had to do things over the phone. It took quite a while to do the job but he was good. I need to call ADT because one of the sensors is coming off. It's right by the garage door opening. It must be the humidity. It's unsticking and I have to keep sticking it back on, and it blocks the door from closing if I don't. I'm moving so I haven't gotten around to it yet but I need to take care of that.
