I used to live with my parents. After my father passed, I felt that my mom and I needed more protection, so I decided to get a security system. I went with ADT based on a recommendation from my sister. They worked well with everything and we didn't have any problems. We've upgraded a couple of things since. There was a new something that they did to my main box, and then one of my sensors (the one for carbon monoxide) had to be replaced. Everything works fine for me. All in all, I've had a good experience with ADT, and I'd advise people to try to think of how many fobs they might need and everywhere they think they might need a sensor so they can get it all at one time.
Thank you, Jackie for your feedback. We appreciate it.

I had an issue at my house, and I needed something quickly. ADT was the first one that came to mind. They were quick, and it's been 10 years since I dealt with the sales agent. I had an issue a while ago and I got an email that said to reset my system. I did that, but it threw off the time and the date on my system. I called ADT, and the guy said, “Oh, it'll reset automatically. Just give it a few hours or a few days.” It never did.
Months later, I bought a new door for the house and I had to take the front door alarm system off. It was off for two weeks. I called back just recently and got a great guy who told me how to put the system back on. He noticed that the time was off and said, “Oh, I can fix that for you.” I don't know why the first guy couldn't have done that months earlier, but he didn't. So, my last interaction for putting the system back on my new door was very positive, but the one before was less than lukewarm. Apart from that, I liked that ADT did a senior pricing for me and kept my bill steady for the last few years, because if it goes up, I'll cancel the service.

My wife wanted to get ADT. We just moved into a new house, and we were updating a few things, so it was not out of any kind of serious concern. We were getting that along with some other things. The signup and the setup were self-explanatory. There was one tech and a trainee, and they were efficient and took care of things quickly. The system has been functioning fine since they came out. The pad is easy to use, and we never have any kind of problems with it.

I've been a customer for quite a while, starting with about 23 years. It goes back even further than that because my previous office was also covered by ADT in 1980. It seems like the price keeps going up every year, but if I'm paying for quality, that makes it okay. From time to time, I've had battery problems and ADT either sent the batteries or I've had to call a technician to replace some of them when I couldn't take care of it myself. I'm 89 years old, and I'm not exactly adept at doing home maintenance. The technicians that have come out have been good, and I'm satisfied with the system. The only thing I've added is a personal monitor.

I've been with ADT for several years. But now, I am so disgusted. I would have been done but I'm locked in a contract. I tried to get an upgrade but they wanted so much money. The last time I had an issue, I spoke with a rep and I have called since several times. They made me feel as if I wasn't being truthful. They call and offer customers to help them bring their account current but the rep scolded me for not paying my bills. She talked to me so condescendingly as if I was scum of the earth. It hurt morally. No one should have to go through that. You are offered a service on one hand but on the other hand, it is being used against you. When I tried to call back, I didn't get anywhere and no one called me back.

We've had ADT for over 20 years. I did it because I felt like it would be safer to have something like that, and our experience has been extremely okay. We had somebody come out one time 'cause we could hardly get out the door before the thing would go off. 30 seconds isn't enough time to lock the door and get back out of it after we set the alarm. The tech adjusted it and it was a good experience. They were right on time when they said they'd be here and they fixed it. Overall, ADT has good service and a good product. The system works and we feel very safe.

ADT's price is high for a service that doesn't work. The cameras used to pick up everything in the driveway, on the back porch and around the house. Now, as far as when I would pull in and out of the garage, they don't pick up anything. They hardly ever work anymore and I feel like I'm just throwing money down the drain. What good is it to have security cameras if they don't work?

I'm getting frustrated with ADT because I've been having a serious problem with my alarm system. It has been going on for months, and I've called and called. They said my system is working, but I got so many messages 'cause it goes off all day long every day. They said that it may be the battery, and they walk me through the system. "I'm at home." "Are you near your system?" "Yes." I turn it off and turn it back on. I reboot it. They're not helping me with anything 'cause I'm still having the same problem. I've also asked to speak to a supervisor at one time and they kept telling me things to try. Trying to do it myself hasn't worked.
I have asked ADT if they could come out and look, and they said it would be a charge to me. Why should I be charged for that when it's been going on for so long? Plus, if it's wireless, why am I going through all these changes with this equipment? I changed the batteries on my sensors. I can't keep purchasing batteries. I'm very dissatisfied. I'm paying every month, and no one has tried to fix my issue. Don't use ADT.

When we first got our home, ADT was recommended by one of the mortgage associates. I talked to a guy on the phone and ADT sent somebody out, then they called back later to see how everything went. Two days later another ADT guy came out because he didn't know someone else had come out. I got a three-year contract and the installation guy was really nice. Plus, each time I had to deal with problems, ADT took care of it. The price went up $5 a month, but it's reasonable.

ADT is a good system and well-known. When you have an ADT sign in front of your house, people know what you have. The keypad has always been easy to work with and the alarm system functioned very well. I like it when they switched from the landline to a cell phone system. The only problem is, when you have rare problems, it's difficult to get them resolved because it's difficult to communicate with the company. I had a battery go out on a fire sensor. Even after replacing the battery, it didn't work. I had to go around circles with ADT. There were two visits, including them charging me $100. It turned out that the actual sensor was bad, not just the battery. Every time I had to talk to them, I had to wait 30 minutes.
The doorbell camera never functioned. The response time was so slow. 90% of the time you can't answer the door before they're gone. They tried to deal with it by trying to speed up my internet, but it's not my internet. We're canceling our ADT service effective today. I should have canceled it yesterday but you call and you end up going through some menu, you wait and wait and can't talk to anyone. If the company is not physically located in my hometown, I never talk to a person. It will take an act of Congress to talk to a person. I've switched to a local company and they installed the system yesterday.

I had ADT 20 years ago for about three years, then I didn't have it for a good 15 years. I just got it back when I moved into my place here. Previously, I didn't have as much equipment that I have now. Back then, I lived in a smaller place and I just had a panel. Now I'm in a big house so I have cameras, alarms and doorbells. When I first subscribed to ADT here, I didn't have all these cameras. I added a $1,000 package and they allowed me to pay $30 a month for it. That fit my budget and I was able to put cameras up so I could see my house. I was very pleased with that. However, I don't care too much for the doorbell, because I live in Buffalo and it gets really cold here. I have to take the Ring doorbell off the wall and plug it in to charge the battery.
ADT said because of the cold weather, the battery doesn't hold a charge, but it's not just sitting on the wall. It's hardwired in, so that doesn't make any sense to me. Still, I've had all positive experiences. they've come out to my house for free when I first had the problem with my doorbell. I would give them a 9 out of 10, and the only reason why I wouldn't do a 10 out of 10, is because it's hard for me to go in and pay my bill. I went in and tried to make a partial payment, and I got so frustrated that I didn't even make a payment at all. Other than that, I would recommend them to my friend.

The people I deal with, the service reps, are all very cordial and professional. It's nice. I'm just not happy with the equipment that I have at my house currently. The machine is beeping a lot and it's very loud. When we arm it, it beeps. There's no way to quietly set the alarm at night. It's constantly disconnecting from the cellphone tower network, so then it's beeping away because it's lost connection. If we bypass the alarm with the beeping alarm, then it connects to the cellphone tower for 15 minutes, then it'll disconnect again and go back to beeping.

ADT is a respected and well-known brand. I've had a burglar alarm for 30 years and I had had other brands before, then I gave ADT a shot. We had the system hooked up not too long after we moved in, which was in August of ‘19. We've had it five years and we had the keypad replaced. I was part of the Brinks scandal, and I had them take theirs out and put in a call to ADT to put in a new panel. They put in a new modern one, which we love. It’s beautiful.
When I had the new panel installed, a fellow came out and sold me some additional things like glass break detectors, and to make sure all the FM switches were good. I felt really good about the way we upgraded the system and the way it is now. The guy was professional and he was efficient. I have nothing bad to say about ADT at all. What we didn't like before was the app took forever, but this one is very quick. It costs us money, but it's worth it. Overall, ADT is top-notch.

It's cumbersome if you don't have your phone on you. If somebody rings the door and I don't have my phone to check who's at the door, I don't see it who it is 'cause I put the panel upstairs. The system is pretty easy to operate. But we've had a lot of trouble with it going off and beeping. ADT said it's because they're losing signal with the cell, and we have bad cell service out there. ADT could change providers and make it better. When I call customer service, one guy tries to do it. If he can't do it, then they pass it to somebody to give you a call and see if they can make it work. Then they say, “If that doesn't work, then they'll have to come out and work on it.” But then it will cost us money. Why should it cost us money if it’s an interruption in the cell service? ADT needs to figure that out, not me.

I knew of ADT 30 years ago, probably but the way I got engaged with them is when we bought a second home in North Carolina. The previous owners had ADT installed. We heard that there had been a spree of criminal activity up there at one time, and my wife had decided a settlement. We were not going to carry over the ADT. It was just a continued expense. But when we heard about the crime thing and we left there one day, I said, "I feel like we're setting our second house up here for robbery. So let's let's continue the ADT service." So, we continued it and it saved us in a burglary. It was 2012 that we got the home, and the burglary was in 2017, which was five years later. It was a bad situation. ADT saved the day.
There were seven homes that were broken into. What happened was, I got a call. They said, "Your alarm's gone off. Should we call the police?" I said, "Yes, please do." They did but everything was secure when the police got there. The next morning, the alarm went off again. ADT called, "Do you want us to call the police?" I said, "No, don't. But thanks for calling me." I called a neighbor. I said, "How about driving by and see if there's a strange car in the neighborhood. If there is, don't go in there. Don't approach these people but take a picture of the tag." He said, "Well, the front door is ajar. We're going in." He had me on the phone. "Yeah, we're going in." He and another neighbor were going in.
They said, "No, I don't see anything out of place." I said, "Well, I'm coming up." It's a three-hour drive from my house in South Carolina. So, I drove up. The next day, a neighbor stopped by and said, "Fred, guess what? My house was broken into." I said, "Ours was too." Then, within the next three days, we found seven houses that had been broken into. None of them were full-time. They're all part-time homes. So, some local guys down in the city there had set up a squatter in a house in the middle of the other six. What they would do is, they would raid each house, carry all the merchandise to the one they were squatting in, and then every once in a while, they could drive to town to pawnshop houses and unloaded all the loot.
ADT called me twice from those events. After the first one, when the burglars didn't break anything getting into the house because I had a lock box on one of the porch columns. They took a shovel and knocked it off and got a key to go in. So, they didn't have to break any windows or any doors, and they went in and when the alarm went off, they quickly spit out up in the woods. They sat there. They saw the police come, check all the doors, and leave. And then they came back out of the woods and said, "Oh, that little blue octagonal sign that says ADT security, that's for real." Some people put that out even though they haven't bought the service. So then they started saying, "Well, we got caught on camera." They did find a camera, and they took it and they smashed it.
When ADT called me and my wife heard me talk to the ADT, she said, "What's going on?" I said, "Well, the cabin has been broken into." She quickly went to the laptop and brought up the account on ADT. She saw the two people that broke in walking up to the front door. She got them on camera. So the next day when I got up there, I copied the clip onto my phone and took it to the Sheriff's Department. I played it for them and passed it to them. They said, "Oh, yeah, these are locals. We know who these people are." Ours was the only house that had alarm coverage and had a camera. And if the camera hadn't been there, nobody would have caught these guys.
Overall, ADT is terrific, and it's not expensive. After we got the alarm, going up there and we came back to Columbia, the previous owners had a system and it was not ADT. We called ADT and said, "Let's convert this to your system." Six months after, the cabin in Columbia, South Carolina was broken into. And again, the system deterred them from getting all the way inside the house.
Hello. Thank you so much for your positive feedback and being a longtime, loyal member of the ADT family.

Unfortunately, I didn't get any of that in writing and now, ADT is saying that I owe them money. They didn't keep up their end of the bargain. I'm not sure where I stand and I was gonna call them and try to just flat out cancel my subscription again.

ADT has been very helpful and very nice and the system seems to work just fine. The only thing I don't like is the battery sometimes die. It starts beeping and I have to go change the battery even if it's 3:00 in the morning. It's a pain in the particulars to wake up in the middle of the night if the batteries die. But that's not on ADT and the batteries are not hard to change.

I've been with ADT for 18 years. There was another security system that came in and I called ADT and ask them, "Hey, they're asking me about this upgrade. What can you do?" And they did it. They came through with it. We just had our package upgraded and now, we have things that we wanted to kinda fix all the blind spots in our security system. Also, when we have to call customer service, they're nice, direct, and they answer questions. And I got access to the phone when we're away to check up on my security system, and it's working fine. The only problem was whether the Wi-Fi was connecting wherever we were. But besides that, I was able to keep track of my son coming in the house and check on the house.

I've had ADT for over 20 years and my system is old. But it still works. The lights in the system don't come on but I’m accustomed to it. And you’d be surprised to have a battery in your sensor. I talked to the ADT reps the other day and they said once I get the battery and put it in the sensor that's out, that should bring the lights back on. I'm waiting to get my batteries to see if that's true.
The last lady I talked to with my Pulse+ was to put the app on my phone. I have been having issues with them sending me an email to reset my password because I didn't remember it. I got a new phone, so I was trying to put the app on it, and it took them forever. I never got an email to the email and I kept calling and calling. But the last person I dealt with sent me a text and I got the information I needed. I’m able to see the app on my phone when I'm not at home, where I can see my front doorbell or my yard. That's important to be able to see when you're at work and especially when you live alone.

It went off when we first got it, and the police and fire department came out. ADT came out right away and took care of it. They walked us through so that wouldn't happen again. They were very gracious about it. And the fire department and the police were wonderful. That experience was good. Even though we have a locked gate, sometimes we don't lock it because we have the system on. I’ve had the system for a long time and I feel comfortable that I have one because you never know when something's gonna happen. But we have too many problems. I've been trying to get new equipment but they always tell me that if I want a new equipment, that's gonna be expensive.
About two months ago, I upgraded my contract for one year. My price was going up and I asked ADT if they could go low or I was going to a different company. They told me they were gonna go low, but I have to have a contract. I did the contract and tried to get new equipment, but they didn't give me anything. So, I'm not recommending them. Just before they did the contract, I was trying to go to a different company because they were going to give me new equipment and better panels. I have not been too happy with ADT for a while now and I won't be staying with them any longer. I've moved from place to place with them. But it got to a point where the service has been bad. I wouldn't refer anybody to them. I've been having issues with them for years, and a lot of the times that I have issues, things are not rectified in a timely manner. As many times as I've called ADT, sat on the phone and talked with people, it starts out okay, but it ends up turning into something worse. As a valued customer, the turnaround should be faster regardless of whether they have workers that stay in my area or none. Me being without a system until they can get somebody to come down and fix it is not fair, especially when I'm still making payments every month. Even when they want to adjust or compensate, it’s still not enough for not having services.
Every time I talk to them, they tell me I've been a valued customer, but when we start talking about fixing something, it doesn't seem like I am, especially if I have to pay for something additional that should be taken care of because I've been a valued customer and they know that the systems are gonna be outdated. I don't think that I should have to pay for a battery when they know that the batteries are gonna die in the systems that they are providing for people. During the last conversation I had with ADT, I wanted to discontinue my service. But because I had an issue with them prior to that, they offered an alternative rate which then put me into another year contract. When I wanted to discontinue my service, they said I'd have to pay 200 bucks to cancel the service. That's crazy.
Another thing is what they want now is before they send somebody out, they wanna do a Zoom call. I don't think that that's very professional or timely for the customer. I'm old school and not tech-savvy. I don't work for ADT, so I shouldn't have to be having somebody tell me what to do to fix the system. They should be sending a professional out to fix the system. They don't pay me to fix my own stuff. I pay them for a service so that doesn't even make sense to me. It sounds good for the company because they save money. That means they don't have to have a whole bunch of people out there working. But it's not good for the consumer.
When you ask to speak to a supervisor or the CEO, you gotta go through all these steps. This is why things don't change. We call into ADT then nobody wants to take it a step further so we get lost in the shuffle. The people that own the business don't even know stuff like this is even going on, and neither do the supervisors. I cuss the representatives out because they're not helping me. They're more frustrating me than trying to resolve the problem, and asking me to do the work is not resolving the problem.
The reason I'm investing in ADT's service is to have service. The whole purpose is so that you're feeling confident and safe that your residence is safe when you leave home. But there were times when I would leave my house in the morning, I would call because I thought my key fob or the remote wasn't working. I also had so many issues with the app not working. Then they tell me that I need to be at home. People can't be at home. They have to be at work. ADT has gotta figure out another way to be able to fix the problem, because I would have to leave my house knowing that I don't have an alarm service. Then I would have to wait until I got home. I work a 10-hour shift so when I get home, it's after hours. Then I gotta talk to somebody that doesn't even know what they're doing because the people that do work 9:00 to 5:00.

The alarm went off, and a lady called and said, “You have a CO2 monitor that went off. We're calling the fire department.” I said, “No, I've got a low battery. You don't have to call the fire department.” But five minutes later, the fire department came. That was a total waste. I got a battery alarm yesterday so I bypassed that alarm. I used to be with a different company and I did not like what we had accidentally gotten locked into, because it was one of those sales people that kind of bullies people a little. I told my husband, “As soon as we get out of this, I am sending a written letter to them saying we are leaving. And I'm calling ADT. Because we had them before at a previous house, and we really like their service and we're getting them back.”
For the most part, we had a wired system from a company that my father in law used to have. At that point, I didn't know the difference between wired and wireless, and when I called ADT, the rep said, “Sure. We'll come out and get everything set up.” When the guy came out for the install, he said, “Oh, you have wired.” I said, “Okay.” He went and found the box where everything was, and he said, “Whoa! This is a mess. If you don't mind, it's gonna take me a while to go through this, so we can come back, clean it all up, and give you a smaller box.” I said, “Wow! Cool!”
That went very smoothly and I was thrilled. It's nice to have stuff that's tidier, even though it's shut up in a linen closet. The reps were really good and professional. The only changes that I had to make were a couple of wireless additions, which they went ahead and did for me at the same time, because I had changed out to security screen doors. I knew from when we had ADT at a previous house that they won't attach sensors on normal screen doors or window screens. They'll only do it on security screens, which makes sense because people can just take a pocket knife and rip through a non-security screen.
I would tell people to go for ADT. The app is very easy to use, and I use it every day. When I've had issues, the reps have been really helpful about either taking care of it for me or walking me through how to do it myself. One time my alarm went off when I was not home, because I didn't realize that my dog in its crate would trigger the motion sensor. I learned a lot that time. Other than that, I haven't had any false alarms, at least not that I'm aware of.

I have 10 outside doors and six sliding glass doors, plus all the windows. The customer service reps were very accommodating in sending someone to do that. They were very understanding, and while the tech was here, he decided that the thing to do was change them all so that he wouldn't have to come multiple times. It would be more efficient for him and for me if he did it all at one time. That worked well. I've been with ADT for a long time, and I'm totally secure. I've been a member for a while now. When I decided to do this about four years ago, ADT was offering a great incentive to put the system in, but when I put it in, they quoted me something more in the thousands and thousands of dollars. I said, “Take it out. Sorry. No. I’m done.” They came back with, “Oh, no, no, no.” I said, “No. I didn't want that. I just wanted the basic. I just want something to ring if somebody comes through my door.” So, they redid it and charged me what I could afford. However, the price has gone up tremendously. I was paying 29, and I'm up to 45 now. It goes up higher and higher.
ADT doesn't offer any incentive to senior citizens, which I am. I’m sorry for everybody else that isn't a senior citizen, but I'm all about the senior citizen discount. They also don't offer things like, “Hey, do you wanna get more updated equipment?” I don't want the prices to keep going up to $100 a month ‘cause then that's when I'm getting rid of it. We don't have any connection with them. I could go and just say, “Forget this. It's too high.” I don't know what they would do with their equipment though, if they take it or not. That wasn't explained to me. Other than that, I usually set the alarm, and if somebody opens the door, it goes off, which is what it's supposed to do.

Having ADT is a family thing. My mom always had it in our home. So when it was time for me to have my own home, it was not a question. It was always based on the relationship that my mom had with the representative who introduced it to her. So, we continue to use the same rep. The sales rep that I have worked with and that we've worked with has always been personal. I've asked him, “I know that you've got other clients. How is it that you just work with us as if we're your only -- just really get to understand the ins and outs of the needs of our family?” He was very personable, and always professional. We knew we could talk to him and he would clarify or point in the right direction. Or, “I know this is what's important to you, so here's maybe what you wanna consider.” Always more of a consultant than sales at any point in time.
I live in a different state from where my mom did. She passed away. Our rep came to her funeral. Spoke. Shared. This is real, through and through, a part of our family. And that's why I recommend more so the rep. It's who he represents, and he does a great job. ADT does a great job. I've recommended them over and over. Even when it came time for me to move to a different state, I said, “No. I know who I'm staying with. I know what I'm doing. When my mom passed away and I inherited our family home, I kept the service.
Two days ago, an ADT representative did something that was not what I expected. I'm more hurt than angry. ADT is on the up and up, very clear, integrity-high. What happened in that call was I had to let ADT know my mother's house is sold. I don't own it anymore. So, there was no need for me to have the service. We offered it up to the new owners. They said they were interested, but they never followed through with that. My same sales rep, my same consultant, my same buddy Rob went out and tried to connect with them on over six occasions. I had to make the decision at this point that I needed to cancel because I'm paying for something that's not mine. It's not my home.
Knowing that there was a contract, that was fine, I will do what I need to do. Let's do this right. The representative on the phone from the loyalty department assured me, “Ma'am there is no contract. Zero contract. And not only that, you are a loyal customer, so your home in Lynchburg, Virginia where you live, you actually have loyalty points that will bring your monthly down from $50 to $31.99.” “Are you sure?” “Absolutely.” “Are you positive?” “There's no doubt. We thank you so much. There will be an agreement that'll be coming through your email for three years.” I said, “Okay. Yes, I'm gonna stay for three more years.” I've been with them for nine. My mom had been with them for over that. That was a no-brainer for me.
We could have just said it that way from the beginning, because when I called Rob and I told him, he said, “Wendy, there was a contract on your mom's house. There's never not a contract with ADT. All she did was she transferred it over to yours and called it a loyalty.” I said, “That didn't feel right.” I would have been happy to say yes. If that's the way to do it, great! But I was prepared to pay the 600 and what odd dollars and keep doing what I was doing.
Yesterday, I got a text message and an email that said, “Your final bill for 600 and…” “Excuse me? So now ADT has extended my contract on my home for three years, and I still have to pay the -- oh, that's dirty.” I'm upset about that. I reached out to my rep to say, “This is not how it's ever been. This is hurtful.” He felt so bad. He said, “Wendy, let me walk this out. Don't raise your blood pressure. You've gone through enough. Let me figure out what's going on. This is not how that should have gone. I don't know what happened.”
I have his direct, so I sent him the text that I forwarded on the text that I received. I trust him immensely, so I'm waiting to hear back what. And he asked me to just leave it in his hands and he committed to me that he would get an answer back and get to the bottom of this. I'm the only person in my circle who has ADT. I've recommended it to others. My family told me, “Just get a gun. You don't need…:” But it’s what is important to me. I feel secure with the system. I can access it from where I am. It has felt good. It's what makes me feel confident. But my mom would have been so disappointed in where we are.

We've had some good and some bad experiences with ADT. The technicians that come out here have done very well except for the person who originally installed it because he installed it and told us where he was going to put things. And then we realized there might have been a better place for him to install this in our kitchen. He put the console in our kitchen that took up two of our outlets because it was so large. You couldn't use the second one in it. But the gentleman who came out to aid our problem was good. You don't wanna talk to the people on the phone. They're nice enough people, but they directed us to do ridiculous things. So far, we've been with ADT for one year and three months. And they signed us up for a two-year contract that we weren't aware of when we moved in here.
When the technician came out to fix the problem when one of the sensors had gone out, it was on a holiday. The sensor went out, and the alarm went off. We called in. The rep told us how to negate the one thing that failed, but we didn't realize at the time that that made it so you couldn't walk out of the house because it set it off again at 7:00 in the morning when we tried to put our cans out. She didn't mention that part of the problem. Then, it took four weeks to get someone to come out. And in the interim, we dealt with turning it on and off to try and keep the alarm from going off. Four weeks went by. Finally, the technician came out. He was able to decipher what needed to be done right away. But by that point, we were saying it's four weeks, and we’d like to just continue the service because I thought it was a per month thing, and we were informed at the time that it was until June of 2025.
We either arm the system or disarm it. In the case of the failure in the middle of the night, I called them. The next morning after the alarm had gone off when we opened the door by accident because they didn't tell us it was gonna set the alarm off, it took several hours to have someone call back. Evidently, with these alarm systems, if something like that fails and you override it, you have to keep turning it on and off like that to get in and out of the house. It's just how it's designed, which is poor as far as I'm concerned.

I got an overcharge on the equipment that I bought. I didn't have time to tackle with them. And I've had issues ever since, like batteries going down. I had to call ADT. The whole system went down. They had to send the tech out. And they would not budge on the price. It was a software deal. It had nothing to do with any of my equipment. The tech reboot it. He was there for 15 minutes. He did everything from his phone. I got charged for 275 bucks. I nearly lost my mind when that happened. The first thing he told me when he got there was, "There will be no negotiating on this service call charge." I said, "Okay. I understand." But it had nothing to do with anything that I did or my equipment. It was all ADT's equipment.
I got low battery alarms. I changed the batteries and I still couldn't get the alerts to go off. So, I'm not gonna check with them. If somebody from ADT wants to call me and say, "We'll come out there and take care of that and it'll be on us," I'll let them out there. But I'm not gonna call them anymore and have those guys come out. He couldn't do it remotely, if all he had to do was look into the system on his phone. I got fiber optic Wi-Fi. So, that's not an issue. Everything out there, it is remote. I got all the latest technology. And for them to come out there and charge me 270 bucks plus for a service call when it was their issue not mine, I'm still upset about it.

I had an ADT technician come in and he did everything, and I was very pleased. I had a problem because of the new panel. I called, ADT sent me a technician, and he updated us on the panel. And the times I've had any issue, ADT responded. Everything has been good. I use my alarm constantly. Every night, I turn it on. If there was any problem, the panel would let me know. It would go off. We feel secure because we're empty nesters.

I think I drove the fellow that installed my ADT system nuts because it would be online, then it would be offline. I'd call him up on his personal phone. He would fix it with whatever magic he worked from his end of the thing, and it would work again. So, it was good. He was a nice fellow. As a matter of fact, he put in the doorbell that I've got to go out and change the battery.
I have two cameras. I have all of the little sensors and whatever that are in the house. They put in more sensors than I knew. I come home one morning shortly after it had been done. When you go out of my back door, you walk into my garage. There is another door through the garage into the patio which leads outside, and I had pulled the door closed but not tight-closed. The windows in the patio were open and the breeze blew, and it opened the door too far. So, when I come home that morning at 8 o'clock, I've got two sheriff deputies at my house for no apparent reason. But I didn't know this thing was on the back of the door. So, I told them, “This will never happen again.” And we were good to go. So, ADT works.
Overall, I don't have a problem with my system. A strange thing happened here three weeks ago. Down in the area between New York City and New Jersey was an earthquake. It happened on a Wednesday morning and I'm 130 miles away from New York City, so it didn't affect us. That Saturday, I'm sitting in my master bedroom, and all of a sudden, everything in this house started going, “Beep, beep, beep.” And then it's like, “What in the hell am I hearing?” So, I went out in the kitchen. In the meantime, ADT had called to see if there's anything going on here at the house. I couldn't get to the phone fast enough. When I got to the phone, the lady who had left a message, I couldn't understand what it was that she had said about, “Call this number.”
So, now I come back in to look and look up the number. In the meantime, my phone's ringing. My son's on the other end of the line. He said to me, “Are you okay?” I said, “Yes.” Now, he's got ADT on his line because when they couldn't get ahold of me, they called him in Tennessee. So, we were trying to figure out what's going on, and nothing's registering. By the time that the sirens finally went off and I managed to shut all of that noise, it was fine.
Sean said when ADT called him, he looked to see, because I've got two sets of sliding glass doors that are at 90-degree angles from each other that go out onto my deck. So, he had looked there. He had looked out in the car port. He didn't see anything that looked askew or anything that was wrong. He couldn't figure it out. I've been in the house. The house was locked. The system was on, and I didn't know what was going on. The light bulb dawns about two days later, and I called him back. I said, “Probably what happened was that the tremors from New York City had finally made their way west just enough to jar the house.” It did not jar the house bad enough to make any glass rattle or pictures fall.
I was sitting in the bedroom, and not a thing in this world was going on in this house, ‘cause I come out to look and see what had caused all this commotion. And the only thing I can figure is the earth shook just enough to set the system off. And when they could not get ahold of me, they got ahold of him. Then he looked at the cameras ‘cause he's on with me so he can see what's going on here. He couldn't find anything wrong. I couldn't find anything wrong. And that's the only other thing it could have been.
We do apologize for this inconvenience and the frustration you've endured with the system. Please email our team at alwaysthere@adt.com if you are still experiencing outstanding concerns with a reference to your review and service contact number/address.

We've had ADT for years. The only thing I didn't care for was my last issue with them. I had to change the battery. I couldn't find it. I didn't know where it was. And the person that was supposed to do a virtual call with me called late and I had already left the house. I had company. I did a follow up one and got someone, and the guy wouldn't listen to me. He was quite rude. I did fill out a survey about him because I found him to be incredibly unprofessional. I'm 70 years old, and to be treated like that by some young punk really irritates the dickens out of me. He was talking to me like I'm an idiot. Then I ended up with a gal who explained to me how it worked. It turned out to be cool. We went out into the garage and the unit that I thought was part of ADT turned out to be part of the system that Dick had had previously. It had just never been removed. That was why when I kept changing the battery, it didn't work. She thought so, too.
She was thinking, "Gosh, it doesn't look like one of ours." So, we were doing the camera all around the door. I had stepped in an unusual spot and saw this little teeny thing of white. Sure enough, we found it but I would have never found it normally, because it was behind the rail that the garage door opener goes up on, without somebody coming here and knowing what to look for. It was pure luck that I even found it. If I had spent hours trying to get the thing apart to get the battery, I could have done it. But I want a technician here. I pay my bill. I should be able to have a technician, and the gentleman showed up. He was a sweetheart.
He told me to call and say they need to get this charge taken off my bill because it took him 13 minutes to change the battery. But I was still charged over 100 bucks for his visit, because he drove out and took care of the battery. It was my battery. So, I didn't have to pay for that. But that's the only thing I've had with them. Normally, I can have a visit and I don't have to pay. So I was really astounded that I had to pay for that particular thing. The thing is, it wasn't my fault. I couldn't find the unit, and neither could the person on the other end of the phone. In my opinion, they're wasting time. They're paying for this person's hourly wage, my time, and it's all wasted because they're using a phone and a video. I find that incredibly stupid.
Other than that, I've not had bad luck with ADT. It has more to do with dealing with their equipment. I understand, if you have somebody come out here all the time, sure, you're gonna wanna charge the person for their services. But if it's something like what I just went through, $100 was ridiculous, and it wasted my time twice. The lady that did the video part was very interesting and extremely helpful. And she understood, first, that I was being extremely cautious. I really appreciated her. She got me somebody here quickly, and I appreciated that too.
We're so very sorry to learn of the aggravation you experienced contacting ADT about your battery issue but are so glad to hear the trouble has been resolved. ADT is always here when you need us, and we thank you for your feedback and review.

The lady that came offered me something that ADT didn't have. Everything I asked, she was, “Oh, yeah. Of course. Yeah. You can do it. Oh, in the app? Just go ahead. You'll tweak it. You'll change it. You adjust it. You just change the settings. Everything is fine.” I got the system installed, and none of that was true. I wanted to cancel the contract but it's very hard. Once you're in, you're screwed. I spoke with different people. Finally, I was able to speak with the regional manager, and he said, “I don't know why she did this,” and told me that he was would give me an SVR for free and I wouldn't have to pay for as long as I kept the service. Because usually, that carries an extra fee a month.
I got that, so I was happy because I was able to get somewhat the service that I expected. But ADT doesn't have the best service. When it comes to technology, they are very lacking even though they are trying to adjust. My experience is riddled with technical and customer service problems. The equipment is not reliable. I know because I had to get Google cameras. And I have Google cameras inside my house besides the cameras that I have from ADT outside my house. I was in Spain and I was able to connect to the Google cameras no problem on my cell phone. Meanwhile, every time I try to do the same thing with the ADT cameras, problems. They cannot tell me that it’s my router. We're talking about the same phone, the same router, the same Wi-Fi. The only difference was the cameras. Sometimes, the cameras record. Sometimes, they don't.
I just had a problem with ADT again because the SVR stopped working. I spoke on the phone with ADT a couple of times last week, and I was promised that they would replace the SVR. This guy came this morning. He told me, “You're not gonna like it, but we don't carry the SVR anymore. We don't offer it. We don't service it. Nothing.” I said, “Yeah, but nobody told me.” He said, “We were told that we're not gonna carry this long time ago. So, I don't have anything to give you.” The SVR is right there on the floor. He didn't even wanna take it because he said, “You may have to return it.” He was able to make my cameras work, but no SVR anymore. So, I'm not happy. If they would discontinue a service, they should say, “You should let the customer know and not just drop the service,” and not, “You're on your own. Figure it out.” It's not a good business practice.

We've had ADT for a long time, and the system seems to work okay. It's helping to guard the property, keeping people from coming in. It's doing its job. When we set it to in case anybody breaks in, it's probably doing its job at night. Also, when we're away, I think it's doing its job. It's been twice when the alarm went off and we weren't home. One time, an interior door that also has an alarm on it was not completely latched, and somehow it blew open. It caused the alarm to go off and they called me as well as the police about the same time, and that was good. There have been a couple of times they've called the police and that's what's expected. I don't give them any extra points for that. Overall, ADT is a big company, and they are responsive. They're doing their job.

When we bought this home, ADT was the original company that put in the overall system. We put in ADT when we purchased the home. So, we've had ADT for years. We went with the other company but I did not like the keypad. That's why I'm happy with what I have, because this one is more user-friendly, the touch is wonderful, and I don't wanna go anywhere else. I'm very pleased. I am pleased when ADT put in the new touch pad because the old one that we had in there before ADT came in was an old system.
ADT is good and reliable but expensive. They need to work on the cost because ADT is good but not the greatest. There are other systems. ADT should be more cost-friendly because with economics and the way things are, everybody wants to feel safe. But they can still offer a good product and make it economical for everyone. We were with ADT and we left them because another company came, did the same thing, and offered us better rates. When they came and wanted us to go back with ADT, they changed the cost. Of course, the cost has gone up since then, and we have not taken the time to go out and find another security program, because we paid too much after what we were paid before. They're not any better than anyone else. They're just more costly.
One of the worst things that can happen is that you change your internet company. The camera that they put on the house was gone six months, because we didn't realize that when we changed out and upgraded to a new system, the camera no longer worked. We didn't realize because no one notified us that we were longer captured people coming up the driveway or people coming to the home. We discovered there was something not right, and that was when we started troubleshooting the problem. We had to call the company to get some assistance. The instructions that they tried to give us online were not very good either.
We had problems with the panel and I had to call ADT. As we messed with it and talked with the person, we eventually got it back online so it's working now. But it wasn't a pleasant experience. Customer service could have been better. It always pays to be polite to people even when you have a bad day. They act a little superior. They should. That's their system. They know it. We're learning the system. People have to be patient with people. But they should not talk to people like they're idiots. Show respect. And when my son and I had to put the camera back online, it wasn't a pleasant experience that we had with the person on the phone. But that was some time ago. That was within a year that we fixed the camera.
I'm happy with what I have because we have a camera that takes pictures. We have the doorbell. I have a doorbell Ring that's tied into the camera. And we also are tied into the local police if there was a real emergency. Also, people have responded to when we have accidentally hit something on the alarm, and they have called us and verified. So, we're pleased with the way everything is set up.

Get ADT. It works. We've had it for a long time. We have always liked it. It seems to work well. We have it in our windows, and the glass break. We have everything, and even in the garage for our garage door. We had ADT come out to a different home and we moved to the house we're in now and continued to enjoy the product. When we had issues, we called. They were resolved.
The installation went well. The tech was knowledgeable and talked to us about everything. However, there was a bit of miscommunication. At first, we would put them inside and outside, but we changed our minds, called and said, "Never mind." We already had some other things out there and thought it was silly to use all that money when we have already got something that is working. ADT messed up on the bill and forgot to adjust it. But they straightened it out.

Last November, the experience with the reps was hell. I was out of state for three years, returned home, tried to do the upgrade because I've been notified years prior after I moved that there was an upgrade. But whenever I returned to my home, I made an effort to arrange an appointment. ADT said there was no time that they could send someone in during my short visit to put this gadget on digital monitoring. So, when I returned to South Carolina in November of last year, I immediately began the process of trying to get this gadget added to the system. ADT gave me two appointments. Nobody called because they would walk me through the process.
One Saturday, I had a 9 o'clock appointment. I was ready to go. Nobody called. So, I waited an hour, I called ADT, the young lady assured me that somebody would call me at 3 o'clock. That was my whole day waiting on ADT, and I waited again. Nobody called. ADT needs to take note that when they give somebody an appointment, they need to call and say they couldn't do it. Don't have me waiting in my house all day. I was stupid enough. I stayed there and waited. I live by myself, so this was very important to try to correct whatever was wrong. They gave me another date and time, and I had it.
Something went off. I called ADT, the woman told me to get on a ladder. I'm 68 years old. Another time it did the same thing, and that person told me to get back on the ladder again. My daughters were furious. I called, put my foot down and told ADT to come get their stuff and get out of my house. Because they're not the only vendor that provides the alarm service. That seemed to put some fire in the furnace. A very nice gentleman came out. Everything went well, thus far, since then. But the nerve of ADT telling me to climb on a ladder, take a screwdriver, bend something down, take batteries out, all that I thought was ridiculous. They should not have people getting on ladders. If I fell, who am I gonna sue? And living alone, I could have been down there on that floor with an injury. Could have been unconscious. Other than that, my system works well. I would encourage others to use ADT as a vendor.

The person who came, came way after I called myself and got everything set up. They did it over the phone, because I had a system in already. So, I just had to be prompted what to do in order to get my services working. A representative called and walked me through what to do. I had to open up windows, close windows, to make sure that the signal will let me know, from ADT, if my alarm worked.
An ADT representative came a month later and knocked on my door. He told me that I was supposed to have gotten ADT for the first year. I don't know if it was free or discounted or because I moved in a new home. I was, “Wow. You just now coming?” I said, “Because I got ADT already.” I said, “I called them myself to get the service. So, be as though I am a new homeowner, and you're telling me that this was supposed to have been a part of my welcome package or whatever if you wanna call it? And could I get it now?” He said, “No,” because I called it in myself. I wanna know why I didn't get those things that the rep talked about because I should have. Before I got ADT, the reps sold it to me telling me how great it was. I said I have a small dog and a cat and I asked if they were gonna set off the motion detectors. I was told they were not big enough. They have to be of a certain size and mass to raise the ambient room temperature a certain number of degrees in order to trigger that. It's not just purely motion. So, it was alright. But it seemed like at first, every time I left the house, my alarm was going off. And to make it worse, I was in places where I didn't have my phone. So when the alarm went off and ADT called, I didn't know anybody was calling me. They called my son and told him they were getting an alarm at my house and asked if they should send the police, and he would say yes. They were false alarms and I never figured out whether it was the dog or the cat setting it off.
Eventually, after about four false alarms, I got a letter from the sheriff's department saying I gotta get the alarm system fixed. Because if they have to go out on another false alarm, they were gonna start charging me. I called ADT and told them what was going on. They told me that my dog or cat wouldn't set it off. The lady on the other end of the line said a bug can set it off if it flies in front of the motion detector. I asked why they told me it wouldn’t and she said to sell me the system. I appreciated her honesty, but I would have appreciated it before I bought the system.
ADT sent somebody out and he turned one of the motion detectors upside down so it didn't pick up stuff low on the ground. But it was still a problem if the cat jumps or the dog jumped up on the back of the couch, it would be up high enough. So now, I can’t fully use the system. I set it at night and I don't use the motion detectors. But I had to keep that part of the package because of the other features that I wanted like the ability to use the mobile app on the phone. I stayed with it and it's been okay. It made me angry that they lied to me and sold it to me under false pretenses. But it gives me some peace of mind. So, that's good.
I retired recently and the package is a bit expensive to maintain all year. So, I called and told ADT that I was thinking about discontinuing it because my income had decreased greatly. They offered me a reduced rate for six months and then once it’s up, I'm back to what I was paying before. So far, I'm able to do it by the grace of God. I don't know how I'm managing because if I looked at it and sat down and planned to budget, I'd find out that I can't afford what I'm doing. But so far, so good.
For a while, I had a problem because they sent me this do-it-yourself kit to upgrade from 3G to 4G in the device that communicates with the cell towers and transmits the signals. It wasn't working right so, I called ADT and they were gonna send somebody out. They said they were waiting for parts to come in. They hadn't anticipated how big a demand there was gonna be for these upgrades. It took about six months to get that all straightened out. They told me initially I gotta have the upgrade or else my system was not gonna work. But then they said it would be fine until they got the new part and not to worry. With the economy the way it is, it’s getting to I can't even afford to stay in my home. I'm seriously considering selling it and moving to an apartment where I wouldn't need an alarm system.

When we got the system, a friend of mine from high school was with ADT. I called him, he came over and got the system for us and got it put in. It was a wonderful experience. He's a terrific guy and he did a great job for us. ADT comes to the house to update certain things with the system that needed to be updated. For instance, it went from being connected to just the power lines to being connected to the internet. ADT had to come out and change something out when that happened. And my interaction with their people has always been very good.
One time, we had a power outage and the system beeped like crazy. It drove my wife and I nuts. We called ADT and had a lot of interaction and a lot of problems with getting the system to shut down. That was many years ago. We did not get a lot of accurate information from ADT's people. It was the middle of the night, and we had a lot of issues at that time. I didn't worry about it. It got fixed and everything was fine. The system beeped if someone opened the door at night. If they turned it off and opened the door, the system would beep. We also had a panel in our bedroom that we could look at any time and see if the system was armed and if all the doors were closed. Those helped us.
My power has been off for seven hours. As soon as the internet came on, the system came right back and I've had no issues. I didn't have any beeping. I didn't have any issues with ADT while it was off for seven hours. A number of years ago, my next door neighbor wanted an alarm system and I recommended ADT. We went through there, and they gave me some kind of gift. My neighbors have ADT too, and they've been very happy as well.

I moved and transferred my service to my new place. After being with them for many years, they messed up my account. They added a second account and started charging me for 2 accounts. I only learned of this after calling 20 times over the course of 2 weeks trying to get someone who knew what they were talking about. I had to keep explaining my situation to each new agent. I was finally told there was a mix up and they accidentally set up two accounts in my name.
After I thought I had fixed this situation, I was charged $176 for early termination. This was also an error as I didn’t terminate my contract, I only had it transferred to my new place. I called again and after being passed around to several different agents, I was then told it was yet another mistake on their part and that I would have to wait 48 hours for them to research and then another 5-7 business days at least for a refund. I kept asking for a supervisor or regional manager but I was told they were not available. STAY AWAY from this extremely unprofessional company where they charge whatever they want on your card and they are all unauthorized charges. I will be terminating my contract and not paying them a penny and disputing everything with my bank.

I needed ADT just like everybody else has got one. So, I got it for security purposes. Everybody gets one for the same reason. But I don’t like ADT at all. The reps are rude towards you when you ask a question. They’re snappy and salty. You're paying your money to a company and you call in, and people talk to you that way. That's not nice. You call them to fix something and the tech acts like it was a problem. He didn't halfway fix the work. I can't wait till I have no longer have to deal with them. As soon as my thing is over, I will be going to a Ring camera. So, no one has to call me and be nasty, and I have a service that I can take and pay for myself.

I've had a few interactions with ADT, and the one that stands out the most was that they called me when I was out of town because my alarm system was going off and they asked me if I needed them to call the police. I was like, "Well, yeah, that's the reason I pay y'all." What happened was one of the sensors on the window had fallen off. Then the alarm went off. There should be some sticky things to stick it back up. ADT never called me back. So, I got a family member to drive over there because it was going off and I got them to turn it off. The cops pulled up just to do a check, but I had a family member go over there, and that was when they found the sensor on the window.
I've had a sensor fall off on four window. When they first came out to install it, they didn't even bring out the equipment that I ordered. I ordered sensors for every one of my windows, my front doors, the fire or smoke, motion sensors, and everything else. When they came out, they didn't bring the motion sensors. They said, "Well, instead of us putting the motion sensor, we're just gonna put you a glass breakage thing 'cause we don't have no motion sensors." I was like, "Well, that's not what I ordered it." But that was all they had, so they went ahead and installed the glass breakage. So, originally, when I first ordered the system, I didn't even get what I paid for.
Right now, I'm in the process of looking at different options with my security system. I had nothing but trouble out of the ADT system since I've had it. I've had it for four years. Right now, I have about four things bypassed on it. Other than being at home and hearing the doors open and close, I don't use the system right now because of the problems I've had, even though I'm paying for service deal. I'd tell others that unless it's the last option, I will look at all variables or systems before I make the decision to go with ADT.

I had used ADT before. A few years back when I lived out this way before, I used them. Then I moved to Colleyville, and when I moved back to Southwest Fort Worth, I have them again. I have the wireless. I've got the things in the windows. They set it up. Jaden was the one that installed it, and he was very nice. I pay a lot of money, and I'm still paying for the installation of all this, which was thousands of dollars. I pay two bills every month. I pay $65 on the security part and 64 on the installation. And the way it's going, I'll still be paying on it when I'm 140. I'm 91 now. All this stuff means a lot to you when you really put a pencil to it.
I’d tell a friend I wouldn't go with ADT. I would not go with them again. I have a lot of trouble with it. I called my guy that did the installation on it the other night. My system that's by my bedroom door has gone out five times. I just left it off this time. I don't know what's wrong with it, but I had my house cleaned and one of the girls wiped over one at the window, and it went off and I said, “Don't bother. Those are the security deals.” So she didn't. I don't know if that particular one works or not, but I've left the one in my bedroom door off. I was gonna call to get it fixed, and I thought, “I don't know whether to or not.” I'm cogitating on that, too.

I initially bought the system and signed on to ADT in Rancho. But we moved to Hemet so we had to buy all the new stuff. It was an easy transition. Technology renews itself a lot. So, I thought I have the up-to-date stuff but there's probably more stuff that came out. Sometimes I have problems with my Wi-Fi for all the cameras I have. But other than that, it's all good. We had a false alarm and ADT treated it well. They called and made sure it was us and asked us for our verification code. We talked and told them it was a false alarm. We have the upgraded app now and my wife uses it all the time. She likes it and I'm very happy with ADT.

I was doing searches on home security, and ADT seemed the most reliable and they had a good standing on Google. It was a good experience with the salesman. They had very clear expectations for us and they met well with us when they installed the system. Everything in the initial half was very clear. It's great. However, after the system was installed, we had a lot of issues with ADT.
They have really bad customer service and communication and then they have incorrect pricing. They stuck us into a contract and they made us pay for two systems. We told them initially that we were moving homes in the next eight months, and they knew that. They said, "Hey, you can take your system from one house to the next." Our understanding was our billing wouldn't go up. Then when we moved from house to house, in their contract, which is hidden, we had to purchase an entire new system for our new home. So, now, we're locked in for three years paying for two systems and two monitoring contracts because they didn't let us know. It's horrible. Right now, we're out thousands of dollars on two systems when we only needed one.
I've told people to stay away from ADT and to go to self-service systems with no monitoring fees. I also reached out to their IR department and let them know how I felt and I wrote them an honest letter. Being in the corporate world, I know that IR rules. Even their IR feedback wasn't great. So, just knowing that they don't care about customer service and they don't value it, as a business owner myself, I thought much lower of the company.

ADT was probably the best in the business. The sales interaction was fine. However, I did not know when I signed up that all of the different people who represented themselves as ADT were independent contractors. So, I thought I was speaking to the home office. But I had called a number that was for a local representative of ADT and apparently, they compete against one another, which I did not know. So, that is lacking in full disclosure. ADT hasn’t updated any of their equipment in my house, which they should be routinely every so often. I don't know how many years that the equipment should be updated. I still have my original equipment so, it works fine.

I'm not really happy with ADT right now. I've had the system for about 10 years. Nobody ever gets in touch with me to add things. The only time I talk to ADT is if I've got a problem, and nobody's accessible. When I call, there's a number to call. When I call that, it's inevitably multiple calls and a hard time getting a person or chatting with A I, which is really cheap for ADT but not cheap from a time consuming standpoint.
When I need service, which I need right now, but they say that if I'm not comfortable climbing a ladder, they have to send somebody to do that. And then getting an appointment to get somebody to come to your house and to have them show up at the time, and they're ill concerned about that. I work in the city, and therefore can't be at their beck and call. And then they charge more expensive to come at night or Saturdays. And then the technician gets here and goes, “Oh, my God. You have such an old system.”
Right now, the cameras work but they don't record the clips, which is useless. Our alarm went off one day last week, and we couldn't get a clip to see how the door opened. Nothing was stolen, but the police came. So, I think the ADT signs spook regular burglars, so they don't bother your house as much as they do houses that don't have security systems. But once ADT sells you the system, they just send you monthly bill and that's it. They're not proactive about upgrades. As a company, they're, “Let's sell you the system and then we go to the next guy to sell.” And for me, they haven't even called to upgrade, which is fine. But they're sell and go.

A year ago, after three years of having ADT, I called about updated cameras and they were telling me I got the latest equipment in my house. That was really bad. I had the cameras for three years. ADT didn't do any upgrade on their camera system in three years.
I called there a few times trying to get some help because of what happened to the house. My pin wasn't working. It took a lot of people to try to resolve the problem. Overall, I'm not happy with the system. I find it sad that they're telling me that there was no upgrade in the camera system, which I've seen other companies who do have a better camera system. It's sad that they didn't want to. They claim that I had the best cameras. I do find that sad.
I do think they should invest more in the customer service branch. When I called there when I couldn't get my pin, it took three people to figure it out. Meanwhile, I'm on the phone with people asking me the same questions over and over and it was taking forever to accomplish something. I don't know if these people are working from home and they got too comfortable or they're in the office and just haven't been properly trained. But either way you look at it, it was really bad.

It's not been very positive with ADT. On the first day, the alarm system worked. On day number two, I opened and closed the door to test the system and the monitor above the door of the master bedroom fell off the wooden trim, where the monitor was affixed. The alarm system went off and I had to locate the password that I gave to the person who did the installation. I taped the monitor back up after learning what to do, with the system blaring for half an hour. I taped it up, but the monitor never made a connection with the system.
Now, the back door does not register on the alarm system because of the angle of the trim above the doorway and if you were to move the little monitor down further, it would probably hit and fall off again. There's no way to connect the system with the monitor. It just doesn't work. The problem is an incompatibility with their system and they were not around long enough to see that it would be a problem. They taped everything up and they left. The quality is not there in terms of durability and getting them to come back has been like pulling teeth. It's impossible to get them to come back to repair their system.
In order to get one of their people to come and service their system, they have to get a district manager or something to approve the work. Getting through all those hoops, you'd never get a call back for an appointment when it can actually happen. Then, when you call ADT and tell them that you need service, they wanna refer you to a YouTube page and a self-help page so that you could do the work yourself. They're selling unserviceable junk. It's been one year and I'm not sure what to do at this point. I think it would be easier to go with another company that can do a full installation of another system and now I know what to look for when the system is installed.

I've had a lot of interactions with ADT. Unfortunately, the product that they put in my house never was set up right. I have a keypad that was put on the wall and it has no functionality. They wanted to charge me $200 to fix it when it should have been done right the first time. And because it left the 90-day retailer franchise location and that was at main ADT, they wanted nothing to do with it. Also, the person that I bought it from.
It's frustrating. Nobody was too keen on helping me. The first guy who came out to my house to install the security system, we did not have a lot done. We had some contacts put in, but nothing over the top. He was there for over six hours and couldn't finish the job. Somebody else had to come back out and he still could never get that second keypad to work and that was a year ago. It still doesn't work.
There needs to be a booster between the two keypads and that should have been installed initially. No one ever installed it. Once I finally realized what should have even been there, they were like, "$200 for someone to come out and the part is 100." I was like, "Nope.” They lost me there. There was no flexibility. They didn't have a brain and they could only read the script that they were given. If it ran out of that, they didn't know what to do. It was very black and white. ADT has not been great. Because there were so many problems, they said they weren't gonna charge me for the first two months. I ordered another panel several months ago. It has not come. I called ADT and they said, "We don't have the order." I said, "I ordered it from your salesperson." No one bothered to take the order or to check into it. So, it's just gone. No one cares. Then I had some problems with my panel. Sometimes when I go in, it takes three times to get it to turn off. I called and I said about that. No one has bothered to schedule to come out and look at it. I thought when they brought my new panel would be a good time to look at it, but I don't think my new panel is even ordered.
So, there's so much confusion and disconnect that I'm really not terrifically happy with ADT. When it works, it works. I'm getting ready to go away for two weeks and I will turn it on and hope it protects my home. When they put the system in, the guy said, "Oh, just call. If you have any problems, we'll be right there." When I called and I had a problem, no one was right there. When ADT sells, they make nice promises. But when it comes to going through, they haven't followed through. The installation person did a good job. The sales person hasn't followed through on the order. As far as pricing, it was expensive but I called different companies, and I'm very hard of hearing. ADT was the only one that said they could accommodate that. Sure enough, they put things around the house so I could hear.

ADT has been around a long time. It's a recognizable name and I've had it for years. It has served me well. It's been a very few times that I really had to deal with their customer service with an upgrade, but they've always been helpful, prompt, and available when I needed them. It's easy to get in contact with a rep. I like the whole security system. ADT is a great service and me being a retired person, the cost of having a system is reasonable. Whenever I use the system or set it, whether I'm here or away, I feel confident that my property is protected. If there's a storm or something saying the area that interferes with whatever or something's happening, I always get a text message or email alerting me of what's going on.

I renovated my house, and if I want to deactivate or remove a sensor, instead of just simply clicking it on my own through a computer or my app, I have to go through ADT and it's a process. They have to come out here and I have to pay for it which is silly given that it's easy. It's off and on switch program-wise. Otherwise, I barely interact with them at this point. Quality is mid-grade. The system does the job. I have had issues where ADT appropriately called law enforcement and got them here. For the price of 45 bucks a month, it does the job. I'm happy with it. I don't plan on changing. I do wish the app interface was better that I can have more control over my own system.
Thank you for the review and we greatly appreciate your feedback on the service.

Initially, ADT tried to sell me all kinds of stuff I didn't need. It was annoying. Then I bought stuff I regret buying. I spent about $1500 unnecessarily. The service has been lame. I was an hour and a half away on a three-day vacation at the ocean then got a notice that my door was unlocked. At 10:30 at night I had to drive back home and lock my front door then drive back to my location. I had problems with the service numerous times. At 10:15 at night, my door used to unlock. We'd be in our house sleeping then I would wake up at 5:00 in the morning and there'd be a note on my phone that the door was left unlocked at 10:15. One night, I was sitting in a chair in the living room up late and I heard my door unlock at 10:15. I have no idea why it was doing it and ADT doesn't have any explanation. It happened eight times but it doesn't do it anymore. Whatever the glitch was, ADT figured it out.
The system works but there are too many glitches. The alarm is too sensitive. The police had been at my house three times and they told me, "If this happens again, we're gonna charge you for coming out here," so we just shut the thing off. It was always, according to ADT, our fault. All we have is the electronic front door now. I should cancel the service. I haven't had a good experience with ADT. It's always frustrating to work with them. They offered me referral fees if I give them a referral to somebody. But that's not ADT. That's a vendor that works for them that installs their systems and that's a disconnect, too, 'cause ADT is the alarm system and they subcontract this out to these guys. One of them I met was less than scrupulous. My customer had a bad experience with them so I don't refer them anymore.

Their response to alarms going off has been really good. However, lately, it seems like they're connected to someone in another country. When I get on the phone, I wanna be speaking to someone that's more familiar with where I'm at and here in the United States. Not only that, it depends upon where you're located. There are different accents and when you're trying to explain what is occurring and following up on something, the breakdown in the language makes it a little more difficult. But overall, I've been pretty much satisfied with ADT. It's a good system, but be very aware of people approaching you at your residence and claiming that they're from a different thing and they’re supposedly affiliated with ADT to come in and change components or to get in and get access to your unit. They fast talk and they'll have some sort of identification, but it's not actual ADT.

My wife was very ill and I was feeling a little more insecure with her being home like that and I thought it's a good idea to have a security system. I reached out to ADT. My interactions with the sales rep was all over the phone until the install guy got here. He informed me of what was on and we managed to get the thing set up with the credit card, which I'm still bickering about. I don't like the way that worked out, but that's another story. They were fine explaining it. I understood most of what I needed to know except for how to pay. The installer was good. He came in and worked quickly and he explained some things to me and it went very well. My package is all right. There's a little bit more instruction needed on my end. I need to look into it a little more.

My experience with ADT is very easy-going. We don't use the alarm a lot because I'm retired now. So, I'm home all the time. When we go out or leave, we use the alarm. We've had no problems with it. I had talked to them months ago, and they lowered my price to $26 a month. We had the one issue with the motion detector in the hallway. I called customer service, and they were able to talk us through and reset my alarm so that it does not work anymore. We had it taken out.

ADT is overpriced. They gave me a quote, and then when they came to install, it was different. So I complained on them. They overprice things. But when the quote happened, they didn't tell me that. So whenever my contract is done with ADT, I would never choose them as a security company. I'm not satisfied with them. They need to be upfront and honest. Horrible company.

I moved into this place 11 years ago and ADT had a guy come out, and he was very thorough and helpful. I've had some calls and they had to verify my alarm went off. That always went fine. They've always been very courteous. I feel very secure with the system that I have. I'm at the end of a courtyard in a town home community, and I would not be real accessible to a break-in. But I've been very pleased with having it. They’re a good service. The only problem I've had with ADT was with the window breaks because the batteries were bad. I didn't know what was wrong with it and I had to call ADT several times and they finally replaced the whole thing.

My experience with ADT has been great. I'm the one that messed it up because I don't have my sensors on the windows. They said I can do that. But my household has been so upset for the past few months. I haven't had a chance to get them back on the window. I haven't had a chance to put a new battery in the wall unit and it's falling apart.
I had new windows put in my whole house so I had to take all the sensors off. I was told, “Make sure you keep this one piece with that piece.” I did that. I took every bit off. I put them in a safe place where I knew this one went with that one. Then all of a sudden, I was told, “Oh, you didn't have to do that.” When the woman heard that I was putting the windows in, she reduced the price of my monthly payment. That's free money for me. But I wanna set this up like it used to be. I was very happy with it. I'm afraid to call back because I know she's gonna tell me, “We can't give you the same price back.” If she could give me the same price back, I would put all this stuff together in the next 15 minutes. But I can't do that in 15 minutes on 12 windows.
I've been with ADT for a long, long time. Before we moved into this house 10 years ago, we had ADT at our last house that was not even close to this location. So we liked ADT. When we moved into this place 10 years ago, we put ADT back in the house, which we feel comfortable with that. Every conversation I've had over the phone has gone well. They've been very good to me. If you're gonna consider an alarm system in your house, call ADT.

I'm really disappointed with ADT. We just lose the cameras. They dropped offline and won't record. I've called several times and they gave me some garbage about the Wi-Fi dropping out. We're paying each month for service and we can't rely on our cameras at all to do anything. Other than the cameras, that's really all we use because we're home all the time. So, we don't set the alarms a whole lot. They gotta do something to help us with the recording. That's the purpose of having it and it doesn't seem to operate for us at all. They don't treat me bad. They just don't have an answer for me.

We've had different home security companies over the last 50 years. We like ADT the best. I have trust in their reliability. If I had an alarm inadvertently go off, I would get called within 30 seconds. I had a battery low recently on a carbon monoxide sensor, and I went to change the battery. I forgot to bypass the carbon monoxide sensor before I unplugged it, so it went off. ADT called me in 30 seconds, saying that the fire department is on its way. And I said, “No, no, no. Stop, stop.” They were very good and professional. We appreciate their service. I have two other homes that I own where my son and his wife live in one, and my daughter and her husband live in the other, and we have ADT plugged into both of those homes too.

I had ADT at a previous house that I lived in. I was happy with the service before, so I figured I would go with them again. The sales reps were very good. The installer came on time as promised, and installed a Ring doorbell, which is something I did not have at the other house, two cameras, one for the outside, one for the patio. I don't have contacts on all of the windows like I had in the other house mainly because I'm renting. There's no peephole or anything in the front door. So, I wanted to know when somebody either delivered a package or came to the front door and if anybody was in the backyard.

In the beginning, ADT was great. What's happened now is whenever I need upgrades or a fix or equipment, they mail it to me and they want me to do it. I'm not happy about that fact. I'm about to get away from ADT and go to the monitoring center. It's much cheaper. But before I do that, I'm gonna give ADT one more chance to send a human being out to my house to fix my problem instead of telling me to do it myself. Just like them, I got a job and I got a life. I ain't got time to fix it up myself. For the most part, their app is good and the alarm system itself is good.

As soon as my two years is up, we're getting rid of ADT. They're fine until they start getting salty and they get salty right along with me. But they don't know how to de-escalate. Also, every time I call to get something fixed, they don't fix the system. And when they say they would come out, they said it would cost me. But it never worked. They came out March of 2023 and that was the last time it worked. ADT told me if I quit before the two years is up, it would cost me a bunch of money. I volunteer for the letterhead for Rebuilding Warriors. Hundreds of thousands of people know not to use ADT. That's how nasty they are.
