I had ADT at my other house and in this house, I’ve had them for five and a half years. The customer service is great and I would recommend ADT.

These guys are crooks! I ordered service from ADT for my daughter who had moved to go to college. After six months, she had to return home as she has type 1 diabetes. I told ADT that I was returning their equipment and they said that I had to keep it and keep paying it for three years. I told them I didn’t need it, and they said to use it at my home. I told them I had Vivint and they said they couldn’t help me. They’ve deducted $53.40 a month for the last two years while sending me notices saying my alarm system isn’t connected! Of course, it’s not connected because I’m not using it!

I love my ADT. I rely on that for my sleep at night. I don’t want break-ins. It gives me a sense of satisfaction because I'm here by myself. Sometimes I cut it on in the daytime, like when I'm trying to take a nap. I will start keeping mine on even in the daytime, because I've been thinking about that. When mine rings, it goes straight to the jail or ADT. A couple of times I forgot to turn it off in the morning, I opened my door, and in a few minutes, here came the police, and I'm glad. They know me so well. They laughed along with me.

I've been hearing about ADT before, and we've had some neighbors that give us a lot of craps. So, we instigated it because of them. I've been with ADT for three months. They've been good.

I've been pleased with ADT. It's just that until Ian came out here, nobody explained anything. They came, installed, and left. In fact, I hadn't even seen a manual. Ian came down, and nobody charged me anything because I didn't want to have to pay for something like that, because there wasn't too much I needed to. But when he came down here, he stopped by, and he showed me how to use my equipment. Then he also said, "If you're still scared, you can get some window sensors.” Window sensors on the back part of the house. Also, a motion detector down the hallway. So, I'm doing a whole lot better. I really appreciate that, because I was not given that at all. No recommendations were made.
Ian took care of all my worries, because now I know how to use it. There are some things that he showed me on the pad that are useless. I don't know if somebody needs to look into replacing obsolete material with something new, but I'm pleased now. The first installation, I couldn't get anybody out. They told me that it would cost $155 for somebody to come out. And then the lady on the line from ADT, said, "Okay. I can work it out so that it can charge you $80." I was sitting here thinking, "This is not customer service." Because I'd already bought the stuff and paid for everything. So, all I wanted was to be able to feel confident in how to work my system. Nothing at all.
Ian was showing me some things and looking around, and he said, "Look, I would do this, this and this. Six on the back." He said, "I can put them in all over the house," but he said, “To be honest with you, on the front, it's going to be really hard for somebody to start breaking in a window on the front side of the house when you're like 15 yards from your window," and he said, "but I would do it on the back ones, because nobody can see back there." He came back another time and installed everything. And he always asked, "Is there anything else you need to know? Yes. Because I can find out." I'm happy that whoever was on the other line said, "We'll send him out for free, and we're not going to charge you." I was like, "Now, that's customer service."
Some of my ADT signs were broken, so they sent some other ones. Then another guy said, "We'll send you those fluorescent types that light up when somebody comes.” The fire department had to come out here one night, and they knew this was the house that had called because they lit up. Somehow, they were lit, or they could shine a light, and they could see it was fluorescent of some sort. I don't know how, but they knew that they had gotten to the right thing. 'Cause I live behind 7-Eleven.
There are all kinds of crazy people behind the buildings on my left side and then across the street. They come in doing wheelies and stuff at night. So, I really needed this. The fire department came immediately. 'Cause I told them I could see smoke, and it was gray. It didn't smell like food. The ADT alarm in my house, the batteries went dead. My two smoke detectors went off.
I had to replace the batteries in that ADT. It was installed less than five years. I had three alarms going off. And before I could get out of the shower, I heard the fire department siren coming. They sent two trucks, blocked the street because they knew this was the house. That was a false alarm, because I couldn't get out of the shower quickly enough to turn off the ADT thing. 'Cause it was in the kitchen, and I was in the bathroom. And it's a hallway and two doors down. So, I've just been frustrated. But the fire department is coming out here to make sure that I reinstalled everything correctly.
After Ian, it's much better, except that I didn't know I'd have to replace the batteries in that ADT alarm. The installer was very kind, but he didn't do me one favor by explaining anything, or I wouldn't have been so panicked about anything else, because I didn't know how to work it. I didn't know if I was setting my alarm okay. I've had several false alarms just because I couldn't get to it quickly, and I was scared, and I had to remember my code and all that kind of stuff.

I chose ADT because of the brand, and it's a service that I wanted, so talking with the sales rep wasn't like a sales pitch. I’ve been with ADT since June of 2024 and the system is working perfectly. Whenever I call with questions, the reps are very timely with their response. I've used ADT in the past and the service is great.

ADT is a terrible company to do business with. They are legal thieves with their contracts. I signed up with a third party, Envision, who did the installation and ADT handled the billing. I had a 3-year contract, which they said I couldn't break after moving one year later. So, since I had to pay out the contract, I decided to move the equipment to my new house, even though I lived in a safe community and didn't need it anymore, and never used the alarm for 2 years. I paid Envision to move the equipment so I expected the contract to expire 2 years later in May 2026.
Now that it's here, I found out that somehow, without telling me, they extended the contract by 6 more months, and ADT/Envision tricked me into signing up for 6 more months of service which I won't use. So, I paid over $2,500 for using 1 year of ADT service. I will never use ADT again and have told everyone I know to never use them either. So ADT, you are only hurting yourself for being such a deceptive company.

I was scammed over the phone from a customer service guy. I asked him twice what will be my total for indoor and outdoor camera system. He responded $715 dollars with a discount of $500 and something dollars. I said, "Okay, I want the service." A contractor came out to set both cameras at my residence. He didn't explain to me that I was signing a three-year contract. My assumption I'm signing my signature for ADT service. A couple of months passed, I decided to call their customer service and ask what's my full about once again. The lady said my total is an estimate of 3000.00 dollars. I couldn't believe it!!! Scam, Scam. I'm struggling paying this service every month.

I have my second alarm system with ADT and I've been very satisfied with customer service. The only difficulty I had was with billing when I upgraded my system. It seemed to be a difficulty as to who you would contact to get the billing straightened out. But once we got it straightened out, it worked.

The customer service has been good during the more than five years I’ve been with ADT. The technician is very experienced and most of the time, they can solve the problem and give me all the information I need.

I haven't had any bad experience with ADT. I've been with them for three and a half years. I'd had it also when I lived in North Carolina. Their customer service has been fine.

We've had ADT in a vacation home. It's been in the family. My mother initiated the service many years ago because that was what was available, and we've been pleased. The system has functioned very well. I like the camera and being able to control it remotely since it is a vacation home. We've had a few bumps along the way. Some of it is just because technology isn't perfect, and I understand.

We have had ADT in several homes, in several states with ongoing issues. We have been in our current home for 5 months. We have had 2 false alarms in the last few days when we had not turned alarm on. My husband did the troubleshooting suggestions and found the keypad was not responding properly. He typically uses his app to arm and unarm the system. I called ADT to report our issues and discussed with representative for over 30 min. I was told I would receive a phone call later at a set time. A technical representative called at a different time and did not know any details of our issue. They were unable to connect me to a manager to discuss my frustration with their service.

During the initial installation, the professionals came and they were able to answer any questions and concerns that I had at that time. I was able to monitor from another state any movement or anybody, like parcels and things. If I had any questions, I can always call ADT. It’s sufficient, and I feel safe. It's all good.

I first heard about ADT by looking them up on the internet and calling them, and I’ve been a customer since September 2024. Dealing with the reps has been good. One time, my wife was spraying around the baseboards in the house and the water sensor went off. ADT called me four times, saying there was a water leak. From the first call, I knew what it was, but I appreciated that they brought it to our attention. Other than that, we haven’t had any problems.

It's been a good experience with ADT. The last time I contacted them was for a battery, and it was good. Sometimes I'll open the door and the alarm will go off. They'll contact you right away in that case. The law will also send someone out. I have been with ADT for about 10 years and I'd recommend them. They got a referral program where they pay you for referral. I tried to get my brother to get ADT too. But price-wise, everything is just so high anymore.

We've had our security system with ADT for seven to eight years. Someone we know, Candice, was living here at the time and she got a good deal. I’ve called ADT before to get the name changed, but other than that, we've had no problems with them. The customer service is great and we've been happy with them.

I have three accounts with ADT. I've been using them for 20-plus years and I like that I can control my heating and air conditioning, and I have remote access to enter and exit the property from my phone. However, they get you with the $29.99 for the first year then all of a sudden, it's $80. Still, I'm not impressed by the competition.

I had a 3 year contract which ended in spring of 2025. After that it was to be a month to month basis. No new contract was created. On 04/14/2026, there was police activity on my property and the next door neighbors. The SWAT Team was on my property for at least 20 minutes. My ADT Cameras caught NOTHING. They stopped working on 03/31/2026. I called ADT on 04/18/2026 to cancel service. The representative kept pushing sales tactics and would not take NO for an answer. I finally said just cancel it, ok. I told her repeatedly to cancel it, and I disconnected. I did not want to hear anymore of her pushy sales tactics. They won't take NO for an answer and sales can be predatory like. I was tired of hearing it. She did not cancel it as I requested. Now ADT Reps act like I was in the wrong for not allowing her to continue with her pushiness.
I called back on 04/22/26 and 04/23/2026, and they finally followed through with the cancellation, but they still want more money. They won't recognize the original cancellation date as 04/18/2026. It is difficult to cancel ADT. It is a fight to get them to realize that NO means NO. My experience is they won't cancel based on a simple request or a simple phone call. They insist you listen to their pushy sales gimmicks before they honor a cancellation request. Don't contract with this company. They are too predatory and exploitative.

We've had ADT for almost 14 years at this house, and another 10 at another house. I don't love ADT but changing feels like too much time and trouble. While using the system is easy, I'm giving ADT's customer service and their pricing a low rating.

ADT does the job. I've been using them for about 10 years now. I did an upgrade when I took it off a landline and put it on a cell phone, and I like that better. I got rid of my landline. However, when they came out the first time, they had the wrong module for the cell phone in my area. I thought they should have known that before they got here. They had to come twice which caused about a week delay. But they got it taken care of and the system works fine.

With ADT, we get phone calls. Even if I set the system off myself, there's always a phone call follow-up to make sure that it's legitimate, that I set it off, and no one else set it off. We get our email notifications, and we have the app that we can use to turn it on and turn it off. But there's always notification if we left a door open and a sensor is going off, or if we lose power. We get all those notifications. The customer service has been handled extremely well too. They're very responsive and always available if I need them. They have multiple sources online I can use. Otherwise, I can call their number.
I would promote ADT. We started out with them so many years ago. It was just a basic system, and it evolved over time. It's very connected now and there's even accessories that we don't use. In terms of cost, I don't know what others charge, but I want the cheapest price possible. I always think the price is too expensive, no matter what I'm talking about.

I have no problems with ADT. I like them. I've been with them for maybe five years. I just needed cameras and the security system. It's very easy to use. They respond when it goes off. I'm very happy with it. So far, I'm not willing to change it for any other system that I know that's out there.

I called to dispute the charge and the account manager had me on the line for over 55 minutes negotiating for a resolution.
I agreed to 36 months at $29.99 and the $735 refunded/waived. He noted I agreed to $150 credit and the 36 month contract. I called back immediately when my bank was charged for the money I did not agree on and was given more of a run around and that is when I was told he put the $150 credit in notes. I demanded they listen to the recording and hear me say 1000 times over that I was not paying the $735. I still have not received a refund and I'm telling them to take their crap out of my house immediately.

ADT has a national reputation, which a lot of the local companies do not have. Also, the person that I first dealt with was named Katherine and she was excellent. She had a nice sense of humor, and she was very knowledgeable and conversational. So, I decided that this was the company for me. I have them for two years now and the phone calls that I've had with different technicians have been super. I really like the way they handle things. I'd tell my friends that ADT has the latest technology and is very responsive to any problems that we have had.
The alarms are very good. We have nine doors and there's an alarm on each door. I can hear when people go in and out. So, it's very helpful knowing who's going in and out. I also like the cameras outside. We had a very aggressive salesman come and when she saw the cameras, she backed off immediately. So that, to me, is a good thing for us. The cameras also catch animals that go past, which we find really interesting.

ADT has been good. I pay $35 each month and that's chump change. Whenever I ask for help, they're very pleasant and they help. I have a good panel on my wall. I upgraded it to the latest one some time ago and I've been very satisfied with what I got. So, I've not asked for anything else. A few months ago, my alarm kept going off and they helped me to get the alarm back on after a couple of days. We found out that the alarm itself didn't cause the problem. My system was off and I understood that the issue had to do with something else in my home. All in all, ADT satisfies me.

I've been with ADT for 15 years and the customer service has been good. If something like the alarm goes off, they call quick. When I have trouble, like sometimes I gotta get a new battery in one of the monitors, if I call them, they'll ship me one. Sometimes, I already have the batteries and they tell me how to take it apart and put it back together. They're good. They walk me through everything. The last time I needed somebody to come out, the appointment was two days later, so it was not a long wait.

ADT is a good service. It's too expensive though. I got a couple of locations. One is real high and I'm gonna be stopping that one. That's a ridiculous price. The motion detector also needs to have a battery put in, but they won't come out and do it for free after me paying them an astronomical price monthly for years. That's terrible customer service. They were giving directions on how to do it but my dad's 92 years old. They wouldn't lift a finger for him and I'm very disappointed they're not backing my dad.

This is the worst company I’ve ever dealt with. The customer service is horrible. Lies after lies. Fees after fees. I tried to cancel service - it took countless calls after 6 months. I’ll never use them again. Nor refer them. I’ll stick with Ring.

It boggles the mind that the ADT cancellation process hasn't resulted in a class action lawsuit against the company. DO NOT sign a contract with this company. You must speak to a live agent, but they do not answer the phone. You are required to leave a message, and they take more than a week to call you back. If you miss that call, they do not call back. You start the process over. When you do reach them, they take a full 30 days to cancel, meaning you pay again, even if you are not in a contract.

If you like spending an hour and a half on the phone with five different agents, if you like having people take your money for no service services, If You Like Waiting 4 Hours For Techs at Your House and then they cancel and don’t resolve your issues, and then at the end they still charge you!!! This is the company for you!!!! Don’t waste your money or time!

The rep that came out and installed my system was great. He's been in my house a couple times before I even got this new one. Recently, I had a wireless put in. I feel very secure with ADT and I'd do it again and again.

I had Xfinity Security before, and they became so outrageous in price. I wasn't getting that much coverage as what I get with ADT. The gentleman that installed the system was very good at what he did. He did a good job. The system works all right. Also, I like the app that I can use in my vehicle. I hope ADT will keep the price reasonable so I can afford it. I don't wanna see it rocket out of sight every year like the last company I had.

I was originally with Alder Alarm System, and then ADT bought them out, which was how I became their customer. My sister has ADT, and I had been hearing about it. I’m satisfied with the equipment and system I have in place. If my alarm goes off, I can expect a call instantly. They’re punctual. I just had to have my bill straightened out. When I was with Alder, my account was split into two payments. At one point, they double-charged me and took the full 119 out at one time. I applied the extra charge to my first month’s bill, but they sent me another notice saying they were going to take it out again. I had to call and explain that my payments were not set up like that. It’s set up on the 1st of the month and then on the 25th. Also, my sister told me that her alarm system payment is $39, and mine is $59.

My house was broken into and ADT was the only security system available then. They are on the higher end as far as price-wise, but you get what you pay for. If you want cheap, you'll get cheap. If you want the best, go with ADT. I've been with ADT since 2007 and they've been very reliable. I accidentally set the alarm off. They call and see if everything's okay. I had a fire a couple years ago, and they were on the phone really quickly and helped with everything out. I like the convenience of the system as well as the cell phone feature where I can turn the lights and the security system on and off.

It has been a great experience with ADT. The system is easy to navigate. I like the thing that talks when you open the doors. When techs come, they're professional. As long as I have the system on, I feel safe. The other place wanted me to do stuff like the thing that's on the wall. They wanted me to do the fixes where I’d go in that. I can't do that.

I wish I would have checked the comments online before I tried to deal with these people because with a 1.2 rating they obviously don't care. They are running a slick pyramid plan. Called in and told the rep what I need for my business and she said no problem, got me scheduled for installation and of course got the deposit payments. Then they send the technician out to install the product and he says no, what I ordered is not what I need to he tells me what I need and of course it cost more and he gets another deposit.
I complain after installation and they send out a 'manager' to see my operation and he tells me I was not sold what I needed and then he gives me a proposal for different equipment and guess what, yep more money. This is wrong. They confused me, got over my head with technology and basically outsmarted me. When I call in for explanation of my billing the reps say they don't understand my issue and will send me something in writing by letter or email but they have not. The only thing they seem to be efficient with is charging my credit card. I wish I could rate them a negative rating but again it appears they just don't care. I don't know what remedies I have available but researching this. I have to believe they are treating other customers the same one.

The customer service I've received from ADT has been above and way beyond. I've been with the company since 2017. I used to call, and the wait time was too long. I decided to chat with them online on ADT.com, and I always get amazing representatives. They work hard to reboot the system. If it doesn't work, then they’d say, “Ma'am, can we just get you an appointment, and then somebody can do a video call, and assist you?" So, that has been really amazing. In 2017, I was fine, but now, I'm bed bound. They’d say, “Are you able to go out and stand in their driveway and wave to us?” I'd say, “I'm so sorry, I can't leave my bed.” Then they do work out everything. I'm extremely happy with ADT.

I've been an ADT customer for a little over a year now, and I had them before as well. They served me well last time, and they're doing a pretty good job this time. When I call them, I never had a problem with them. They're very respectful, knowledgeable, and on the money. They get the job done. If there was a problem, they always solved it right away, which there were very few problems I've had. Overall, it's been outstanding. I had cameras from different companies, but with ADT, they perform a lot better, a lot clearer, and with less problem. I've had additional products put in, and they were here until they have it done and it's working perfectly. If you got to have a security and a camera and a home security, I recommend ADT highly.

I moved from one house to another house, and ADT put the system that I have now in the new house about three years ago. I've been with them for years and years, and my experience with them has been wonderful. Their reps have been excellent. The service package very well meets my expectations and the price I pay for the service is reasonable. A few weeks ago, I needed to change out my battery and I couldn't seem to get it right. I had to call ADT and they walked me through it. I even had to order a battery from them.

I’ve been with ADT for over 30 years, since we first got our house in Maryland, and I continued with them when I moved to Georgia four years ago. I’ve always thought their service to be excellent and we’ve had no problems with them. I’m very satisfied with the system we currently have. There was a security system in the house when we bought it, so we kept it, but we switched it over from Vivint to ADT. The one that was here wasn't working for us. So, we just chose ADT. We've had it for three years. It seems to be a good system and we're glad that we have it. It's something that if there's a problem, we we'll be notified of it.

I've used ADT since the 90s when it was Security Link, and I stay with them because of their security system. The price is right, too. Their reps have been great and their installers have been very knowledgeable.

Hi everyone... I feel I need to express my thoughts of ADT security.. I am in a 5 year contract and I am 10 months into it. Last year my home was broke into.. The police said I should invest in a security system. So I did. I did no research but I chose ADT because you always hear about their service and customer service. Months into obtaining the service I moved and my service was transferred to my new residence. Forwarding to now I recently went to buy a car and was denied. Come to find out ADT sent my account to collections which caused me to be denied. My monthly payment is withdrawn every month from my account. So my account is up to date but they sent it to collections for broken contract by mistake with their admittance of doing this but they are unwilling to fix the issue they created. So if you're thinking about using this company you should look into other options. I give it 0 stars.

We've been with ADT for 12 years and six weeks ago, they upgraded our system. They added a camera on the front door and new pads in the house. They swapped out the old ones and put in new ones. The tech who came out was doing his job and the features of our service package fit our lifestyle. The alarm has gone off a couple of times and they were false alarms. So, ADT swapped out the sensors on the windows and that cleared up the problem. Overall, having ADT makes me feel good about our security and we haven't had any trouble with the equipment. Our experience with them has been pleasant and I haven't seen any reason to change companies. We would recommend them.

We've had ADT for over 20 years, because we were with Brinks, then ADT bought them. So, it's in continuous service. The system doesn't cause me trouble, and it goes off if the door opens by mistake. That's my favorite part. It works. Not too long ago, I had a question because I thought I was hearing something that was chirping off of the big panel and I thought it had something to do with the backup battery. I called and the very good tech assured me that whatever the chirp was, it was not coming from the panel, and he didn't laugh at me. So, that was a plus.

A while ago, I heard about ADT from my friends. Plus, when we purchased the home, the sign was there, and I said I might as well go ahead and do that. I'm satisfied with what they offered and the cost is reasonable. Signup was easy too. The customer service was difficult at first, but after we established communication, it got better. Overall, ADT is are trustworthy. I trust them with the information they give and the service.

ADT is easy to understand and use. Anytime I had an issue, ADT handled it, and they didn't take long. They've always been excellent at responding to any requests I make. We recently had an upgrade to our internet, and that communication went well. The service guy and the follow-up were excellent. When I arm the system, especially at night, I feel very secure in my home. When I'm away, I also feel very secure because the property is covered.

One of my friends worked with ADT, so I signed up with them and I've been using their service for at least 10 years. My experiences with them have been marvelous. I have had ADT for a number of years and was always very happy with my service up until now. If you have a problem and call ADT they make you talk to a digital assistant and she is horrible. Even if she can’t answer your questions or you need to explain a problem she will not let you talk to a human being. A pity; the service was always wonderful before AI.

I was new to ADT. The home I purchased already had the system in it, and when I went to reactivated the system, they insisted to send a technician to make sure it was fully functional. The technician checked the sensors and I signed a work order that he never disclosed would change my initial one year contract to a three-year contract. This was never verbally agreed to and they refused to correct this extension.

I was told by ADT that I would be able to cancel my contract in TN if I set up a self installation kit in NC. I pay on my NC system even though it is not online. They are charging me over 600.00 for my system in TN. I did not have anything in writing concerning this but spoke with them several times about it with no solution and have a collections agency requesting the full amount.

ADT is a good service. My father had it at the cabin, then when he died, we continued it. The customer service has been fine. We're not happy with the equipment though. It was installed in the crawl space and it's difficult to replace the battery. Other than that, it's fine.

Get ADT. I've been with them for 10 years. Their system is in the house when I first bought it. It's available. It's there. ADT hooked it up. You put the code in, and you're being monitored. I have stickers all over the place, so it's added security. ADT responds right away when the alarm goes on and I'm not able to put the code in there. They call me.

We live out in the rural area, and many years ago, we were burglarized two or three times. We decided we needed a security system and went with ADT for their reputation. They've been the only security company we've ever had and we feel comfortable about it. We have one ADT sign, but we need two new ones. Brinks came and tried to sell us something recently, and they put signs out. Besides that, we've been with ADT a long time and I have no complaints with the price. All in all, ADT makes us feel good and I'd tell people to go for it.

My experience with the ADT reps was good. There were some issues with it. I thought that the service came with the cameras, and then found out that I had to pay for the cameras separately. I got upset about it, but then I got over it. I just kept with them since. However, I have one Roku camera and a doorbell camera that aren't working right now. But other than that, we haven’t had much trouble with ADT at all. They're really prompt when it comes to alarms going off. They text you and call you really quickly if the alarm goes off. My son set the alarm off, and he didn't know how to shut it off. And they called me. I like that feature. I also like that when the internet and the house shut off, the system still works. Because if electricity goes out, it still works.
The only thing I didn't like, but this has nothing to do with ADT, was that we had to get an alarm permit. I didn't know about the alarm permit until after we got the alarm system. It’s here in our county that we have to have an alarm permit to have an alarm in our house. On top of the service that we had to pay for, we had to pay for an alarm permit.

This is the worst monitoring alarm company I have ever had. I had Life shield before. Never had any trouble. The alarm keeps going off. It won't let me put in the code. The QR Code pops app while the arm's screaming. My wife was trapped in the house today because her phone wouldn't scan the QR Code then when I called to complain about it for the fifth time after having people walk me through resetting the codes resetting the pad resetting the cameras 3 or 4 times They threatened to send me to collections if I canceled and didn't pay. They graciously and that's snarky by the way agreed to bring somebody out free of charge. That was mighty ** of them and give me a free month for the inconvenience that I've had.
If this doesn't work I told them that I will be filing a suit against them with my lawyer because I cannot get in or out of my house at times or even shut the alarm off with my phone because it doesn't put the 0 on the keypad until I enter the wrong code first. So I've had to change my code just so if this happens Again I can unlock it with my phone. I highly suggest anybody looking at ADT to run with your hair on fire as far away from them as possible and go with somebody else. PS I even changed internet providers at my expense to see if that would help. Nope!!!! I only gave Them 1 star because they didn't have a -10 star rating.

I was a customer for over 11 years, I was charged 286 for canceling my account. The keypad never really worked. All these bioping. They had no mercy charging us for disconnecting the services while we settle on another home. DO NOT USE THEIR SERVICE!

Do not and I repeat do not sign a contract with ADT!!!! The worst customer support on the planet, when calling I get someone in another country that cannot speak English and have to hang up and try again and again until I can understand someone. There are multiple class actions law litigations going on for them ripping customers off. I signed a 3-year contract and after 1 year I had to relocate for my job. It has been a year, and they are still billing me for two separate locations, and I sold my other house over a year ago. It took months and 10 to 20 calls to just get the new system installed at new house. I had to call a local service company to have them help me so we could get system installed, they had to call the install department because the people I talked to on phone through the ADT 1-800 could not make it happen.
I have never dealt with this level of incompetency in my 51 years of life. After over 20 calls I am still getting billed for a house in Florida, I moved out of over a year ago. Today I am cancelling the credit card, so they stop stealing my money. I am convinced it is intentional because how can a company this large not understand or be this incompetent???? They even have a relocation department, but they are still unable to get this fixed for me. I have been paying over $260 a month for over a year now for two security systems, the biggest scam I have ever been involved in.

I've been in this house since 2012 and I've had ADT since. I had someone come out and do some upgrades on some stuff. I like ADT. It's convenient and the system is easy to understand. The price is good too. I'm content. There was this other people that came around our house one day, and it sounded all fancy, so I switched to them. It was the newest system, but the way it was set up didn't work for my house. That lasted two weeks, then I went back to ADT and I haven't looked for anything else.
ADT's customer service has been great right now. However, the city charged me for excessive police calls for a problem that ADT knew I had. The alarm goes off on this same window. So, we knew something was wrong with this window and before the guy could get out here to fix it, the alarm went off again. I wasn't home and ADT should have just ignored it, but they sent the police. So, the city charged me $125 and ADT gave me the information where to send it to. I sent my request in with my payment and I'm waiting to hear back from that.

ADT is nice to have. I've had the system since I bought my house. It was Brinks before then they turned over into ADT. One time, I had got rid of it, but they talked me into getting it again. The couple times that the alarm was set off, they responded. One time, I had a party and there was a balloon waving in front of my motion detector in the basement. It set off and ADT called. Then a couple of times, I set it off myself just to see if they were going to respond, and they did. They're reliable. I arm the system whenever I'm leaving for an extended period. I like having the door jamb as I can tell when somebody is coming in and out.

We changed from another system to ADT and it was a learning problem, probably on our part. But it also goes to their setup. They typically go through it once and ask if we understand. But understanding and practicing are two different things. So, the reps needed to have us sit at the panel and go through it a few times. They just tried to explain it and then move on. When there was an issue, they referred me to the manager in San Jose. I just ignored the problem for a while until I finally became comfortable with the issue. But that's probably more customer error than ADT. I like getting the emails from ADT saying that so-and-so door was opened at so-and-so time or that it’s still open. It’s a nice feature. We’ve been with ADT for two years and I'd recommend it to a friend.

Having ADT has been really good. I've always gotten really good service. If there were any issues with my alarm, they would come out right away. I've had a couple of battery issues, and then one of my sensors just needed batteries, but I couldn't get the little sensor off the walls to change the batteries. So, some of it has been lighter, and some of the wires need to be redone. I've been really happy with ADT. I'm satisfied with what I have.

My Wife ordered the service and I can actually say that she was bamboozled. She didn't know the service she had was a scam. They were supposed to give us wired equipment instead of wireless, and this was in the contract. However now there saying that we have to pay more for the inconvenience. Whaaat ADT. Not! And it's 2000 and some to get out of contract. Wow what a bummer.

We've been with ADT since ’92 and it's good. The price is high, and I normally call them and say, “Look, you raised it too much.” On the other hand, the cost for adding equipment is reasonable and the installers are presentable people. They're professional in what they do. The reps, Audrey, Ivy, and others, have been very helpful too. They're polite, knowledgeable, and they give me straight answers. They follow up as well. I have been dealing now with Ivy for the past 10 days, and she calls back and gives me information and updates.

We were putting in cable and the cable guy told us about ADT when we bought our house. So we put the security system in when we bought our house. We've been with ADT two years and their reps have been wonderful. We accidentally set off the alarm while cooking bacon and they were super nice about it. They called and they didn't charge us or send out the cops or the fire department. The features of our service package is great. We're snowbirds, so we live in a different part of the US. So we can see it when we're not there and it's worked out perfectly for us. The cameras are installed at the right place and we can monitor our place.

I've had ADT for at least five years and I feel very well-protected. I live alone, and I'm not home a lot. So, the protection was valuable to me. My experience with ADT has been outstanding. They're always there. They've always been responsive if there's an emergency and if there's a breach in the alarm. They've been troubleshooting. I've been with ADT for more than eight years. I had them at another location when I lived in New Orleans. I took a break at a rental house until I found my house. I have been a loyal customer for close to 6 years. I have recently moved, unable to cancel contract without spending 4+ hours on the phone. Additionally, realized in the process I have been overcharged for a house I didn't own for over 2+ years. When moved, the home remained "active" without me knowing, along with the invoice. I'm overcharged by $1700k and now have to pay an additional $240 for current contract. Most ADT customer service could do was offer me a free camera and move to next home. Worst experience ever!

Compared to the one I had before, ADT has been exceptional. Recently, our internet went out. So, we didn't have anything that went on the internet, which included our security system. But ADT sent me a message saying, “We're doing testing. We’re not able to get through,” which I already knew they wouldn't because our internet was out. I appreciated that they checked. It had to do with getting Spectrum here and it took them two days to get here. But that was with them, not ADT.

My favorite feature is being able to turn the system on and off remotely. I had one issue. The lady at ADT told me I had a camera that was under warranty, but it got lost in the sauce. So, I still have a camera that is down and out. I'm thinking about replacing it with another one, and letting it ride. I don't know if that would reduce the cost of my bill.

My house was being burglarized, and I asked the police if they could recommend somebody, and they said, ADT. I’ve been a customer for 15 years and have added some features. For what I have and what I’m paying, everything is fine. One time, I needed to have a battery changed in one of the sensors, and they had somebody come out the next day. A lot of times, I set the alarm off because I forgot I had it on. I have to be careful because when I first got the system with ADT, I wasn’t attuned to it, and the police came out. But they didn’t have to. Things shut off in time. They sent me a letter saying I get two free ones. If they come out again, it’ll be 100. I set it off once this year and I was able to turn it off before they came out.
When my son was moving things around, he moved something on the sensor on the door to the garage. I could get the overhead door down, but I couldn't get the alarm to set. So, I called ADT, and a nice man called Jerry came out and explained what happened. It wasn't the door or the sensors on it. It was a small piece on the inside near the kitchen door. Since all the doors have to be closed for the alarm to go on, that missing piece prevented the alarm from being set. He put it back on and everything was cool. I wouldn’t change from ADT or switch to anything else.

I would recommend ADT. I like the security of it. It’s good to have it. It’s nice to know that we’re protected from somebody coming in. The camera is recording movement. One time, I pushed the fire alarm. I was testing it and it went off. They were very responsive and I got an immediate call. The service installer was real good as well. I had to contact him after that hurricane almost two years ago because we had no internet and they reinstalled the camera. It was immediate.

ADT since 2012 in San Jose, CA and sold my house in April 2025. I called them immediately to cancel service and got a email reply asking if they could interest me in setting me up in my apartment in Austin, TX. So they confirmed I had moved. Yet they continued to charge me, even after increasing the fee, until April 2026. I called in April of 2025, then again last month and they still charged me two charges: (April 05, 2026 for $26.90) & (April 21, 2026 for $9.78). Apparently there is a 30 day cancelation. So they should refund back to May, 2025 when I placed call? I consider continued charges after cancelation Theft. Is that not what they are supposed to be preventing?

First of all, I was put into a contract that I wasn’t even aware of. I’m in the process of moving and can’t take my equipment with me, so when I spoke with a previous representative, I was told I would only be responsible for the equipment fee, which was around $300. Now I’m receiving a final bill for over $800, which makes no sense.
When I called to get clarity, the representative I spoke with didn’t even try to hear me out—he just said he would email me the contract. This is extremely frustrating. Even canceling a phone line doesn’t cost $400+, so how is this justified? No one I spoke to over the years ever mentioned being locked into a long-term contract. I’ve been a customer for almost 4 years, and it’s honestly shocking that my contract would still be binding for this long. This whole situation feels very misleading and unfair.

We have been ADT customers for many years. Recently, however, their customer service is unacceptable. We scheduled an appointment for service at our home, and we were given a four-hour window for the technician to come. Four hours came and went. The technician did not call to let us know that he was going to be late. Additionally, the "agent", obviously a bot, indicated that there was no way for me to find out when we could expect the technician. After waiting more than four hours, I was notified by the bot that the technician was enroute, but I wasn't given his estimated time of arrival.
When I protested this response, I shortly received a call from the technician, and he that he was still quite a distance away from my location. He offered to reschedule the appointment, and we declined the offer to which he responded, 'Yes, I understand." Because ADT makes it impossible to speak with a human being and stonewalls requests for help, we cancelled our long-time account with ADT and do not recommend them to anyone who expects responsible and timely customer service.

I use ADT when I leave, or go on vacation. Other than that, I've never used it. ADT hasn't done anything good for me. They've protected my house, but I've never used it because no one has tried to break in. If the power goes off, my ADT goes off. It has a battery backup, but it only lasts for 20 minutes, and it starts beeping because the batteries are low. Also, I got one camera that doesn't work very well. My front camera is not clear. It's an orangish yellow. I can see what it puts out, but it's not a very clear camera.
I wish the price would go down instead up. When ADT installed the thing, the tech said, once I paid for the equipment, the price would go down, but it went up. I wanted to upgrade and get one camera where it would work properly, but ADT told me it would cost more money. He said they can put different cameras, but it would cost me $40 a month more so I never did it. They put in new system that is supposed to be better than the one they put in 14 years ago. Why should I upgrade if I don't want to pay more money a month? The price in 14 years has doubled, and I still have the same outdated equipment, because they charge you to upgrade.
The representative said I could call billing and talk to them about trying to get a price reduction. I never did. Other than that, I'm happy with it. The security system seems to work. If I want to see if something that was moving in the yard at night time, I can always go on my camera and look. I've recommended it to people. My neighbor across the street owns a preschool up here, and he wanted to do something over there because he had some kind of system, but it didn't work very well. He came and talked to me about ADT, and I said it was all right.

ADT is a popular home security service. Plus, my neighbor has had it for several years. I signed up with them and I've been a customer for about a year. I've had great interactions with their representatives. There was only one person that installed everything, and he was really good. The service package that I got fits my needs fine. I have no problem with it. My son did set the alarm off one time, but there was no problem with that.

I looked at ADT's groundwork and decided that ADT was better for me. I reached out to customer service for an issue, and they've tried to fix it but it still ain’t fixed. My camera records when it wants to. And when I need it to, it doesn't record. They tried to fix it. It was working while they were on the phone with me, but once they hung up, it stopped working completely. I got nothing recorded now in three days. I called again this morning to ask them to send somebody out to check it out. They said, the camera can be bad, but nobody is replacing this camera. The camera is old. It's time for it to be replaced.
The rest of my package is outstanding. It fits my lifestyle perfectly. It's a great alarm system to have once they work out the little few quirks they have in it. I get great customer service, too. I call them when I get ready to go out of town. When the alarms go off, I told them to call the police, then call me. We go out of town a lot, so I rather for them to call authorities first because nobody's supposed to be here. That works out outstanding for me.
In 2010, we were in another city, and the alarm went off and they called me. I said, “No, send the police. I'm on my way.” It took us an hour and a half to get here. When we got here, they had the person who had kicked the door. So that's why I call and tell them that when I'm out of town, if the alarm goes off, they should call the authorities before calling me. If there's a malfunction, I'm gonna get to the box and turn it off. When they call me, I’d give them the passcode and they can disarm it. Ever since that incident happened, that's the way I do it. I'm glad I do it that way.

Somebody told me in February last year that I was going to get a rate deduction because of how long I had been with ADT. But I've never seen that. It's been over 20 years that I've been using them and the service has been good. I just arm and disarm the alarm. I have the doorbell camera where I can see when someone's at the door, but beyond those few things, there are no other features I really use.

I first heard of ADT from getting a home warranty. The installation was fine, and the tech was good. The features of my service package are good. When I have a problem with the system, I just call one of ADT's techs and he would help me fix it.

After 9 years of being an ADT customer and always paying on time, I decided to cancel my subscription because they refused to fix a system problem (the system could not receive the signal, a problem they said was due to the outdated system I still had after so many years). Bottom line, the system wasn’t working for over two months and I was paying for a non-existing service. I called in March of 2026 to report my problem and they promised to send out a technician during a time when I would be there since I work. They at first told me there was a fee, but I said that I would rather cancel my subscription, so they said they would waive it. Which would have been great had the technician come at the designated time. Instead, he came when I was at work and left a note that he had passed by but nobody had been home.
I called again and, in frustration, asked them to cancel my subscription, but then the representative offered me a new contract for less than I was paying and an upgraded system. Great, right? Except that the contract I received was totally different than the one promised. It showed a higher rate and an installation fee of 105 dollars! I made many calls, during which they apologized and said they would send me the correct, new contract. They did not want to let me go because I was a good customer, they said, but they never sent a correctly revised contract.
I was finally able to cancel the subscription but was asked to pay a 25 dollars as a cancellation fee. They would not listen to me that I had paid for two months for no service and sent me the current month’s bill too! I asked to speak to a manager and after much insistence, he came on but would not listen to me and only made believe that he was sorry about the whole situation. He wouldn’t budge on a refund for the time I was without service nor concede that it was basically the company’s fault. Now I have installed a new system that is not ADT and am very happy with it.

ADT had to come out a few times. I thought they were a little pricey for what I got because they charge for every little thing and I didn't get chance to get the break window. But that's my only complaint. I have them since 2017 and the service has been pretty decent. I've have been offered. We are the type that if it's not broke, we're not going to try and fix it. But like anything else, the price would go up on everything and I didn’t like that. So anyone thinking about using ADT should be careful with the prices that they offer for this or that. Other than that, I like how they got the camera set up. I used to have something different with them but I like what I have now. I also like their customer service and the system.

ADT is a good company to go with. When they put everything in, they explained it, and they explained about the price. They explained about what I need, like did I needed the kind of thing to be in the kitchen where somebody rings my doorbell and I can see them on the porch. They explained all the options, but you don't have to go with all of them options. They just explained it because that's their job. They didn’t try to push their service on me. They explained it, and everybody needs security. Everything was self-explanatory. If the alarm was set off, ADT would blow my phone up and get on top of that. And the police would be around here. Also, ADT's reps are kind. They don't try to rush me off the phone. I have time to explain what the problem is.

I've been with ADT for two years. I liked the history and their longevity. Also, I had prior use. There are multiple platforms I can log into. ADT should make it more streamlined so they would not ask the question, “Is your account set up through adt.com, ADT app,” or some other ADT platform. ADT should combine them all into one. Make it easy.

ADT has excellent customer service. Since having our alarm, I feel safe when I'm not at home. If somebody broke in, at least it would be a deterrent, but at any rate, hopefully, the police will get here in a quick enough time. It seems like it takes a moment for everything to materialize. By the time the alarm goes off, and then by the time the call comes in, somebody’s ran in and ran out already. I guess for insurance purposes, I'd have a police report to be able to write up. Nonetheless, it did make me happy just feeling more safer.

ADT has been good as far as monitoring. I like the remote thermostat and being able to set the alarms remotely and unlock the doors remotely. I have had some issues that I've needed to talk to support about. They've been able to solve all my issues. ADT has given me peace of mind that my property is protected and I can be made aware of things via the app that I need to know about. They offered everything that I needed to protect a place that I'm not at all year long. I'm not there regularly. So, I need to be able to see inside. The cameras help with seeing outside, inside, monitoring things, and making sure doors are locked.

After my husband died, I learned that there were several security systems available. I heard on TV about ADT and I saw it in a neighborhood. I signed up with them and it was easy, but some of those people installing the thing were always on a phone. And no matter what you ask that guy, you have to take his phone off his ears. But it was not that hard and I looked online too to help.
The price is a little bit high but the system is easy to use. We had power failure at some time where it was beeping loud every 10 minutes and there was no way I could stop the beeping. But that was the only problem. I had a new policy with a Spectrum and I had a new system. So, I had to call ADT because I couldn't push the buttons to change the doorbell. But there was no problem and the panel is easy to use. ADT usually checks the system once a month and whenever I accidentally set the alarm off, their response has been very fast. Sometimes, I'd forget to open the door and they'd call me. Also, I had a daughter who was with me when I installed my ADT, and she thought it was easy to do.

I feel safer with ADT. They've been reliable. However, I don't like the new service. Normally, when I would call in, I'd get a live person right away. Everyone that I have spoken to in the past 10 years couldn't have been more helpful. They're nice and great to talk to on the phone. Now, I'm getting an AI. The past couple of times I've called, on occasion, for a quick question, I get that first. I'm not thrilled with that. They could also do way better on the price. They're too expensive and I'm not happy with it. Other than those, the system is good.

I was on the phone with someone and they interested me in getting ADT. I thought it would be a good thing since my husband passed away last October. I can handle their price and they're nice people. The service has been great so far. I don't have to lock my doors and I don't want to lock my doors because I’d get outside and if I need to get in a door, I don't want to have to carry a key around with me. I live up on a hill in a country, there are coyotes and raccoons out here, and you never know whether a wild dog is going to come around. I have three doors and if I need to get in the house, I don't want to have to go around and unlock a door. But the alarm will still go off if the door is open, if it's set.
I also have a fob that I can carry if I fall, or if I need assistance right away. If there are wild animals out here that are looking like they're going to do something to me, I can push a red button on the fob, and I can have somebody here within a few minutes. And it gives me that protection. I've got a monitor in the house that if glass is broken, it will set the alarm off. In addition, I have a setting on the fob that I can set it at night. It's called stay at home mode. The doors are not locked, but if they're opened, the alarm will go off. I like the security of it. It's really a good thing to have, especially when you live alone.

I've been hearing about ADT on television and other people I knew had it. We've been with them for a long time and their reps have been great. I just had the system upgraded last year and the installation didn't take long. It went great, too. One time when we were out of town, we received a call and it turned out that the wind blew through one of our windows that kept cracking from the top and caused the sensor to go off. ADT's service was excellent and we recommend them.

We've had ADT for about 13 years. Their phone reps have been good and so far, everything's been fine. The system has worked well and other than setting it off ourselves by mistake, we've had no problems. We never added our garage door onto the alarm system when it was installed and we felt like the price was a little high. We still would like to have the garage door added, but it seems that, money-wise, we just haven't done that. Also, we ordered a new battery for the backup system and they told us how to do that. We already have the battery. We ordered it ourselves and paid for it. But I don't know how much they would charge to install it. I would like to find that out. My husband's 90 years old and if the installation is very complicated, we probably can't do it ourselves. But if it's very easy, we might be able to.

ADT is a good company. My system functions all right. If something goes wrong around the house, I got an alarm. I feel safer at the house. Also, anytime I needed something taken care of, it's always taken care of. They're very responsive. Also, their CEO called me personally. The system was interrupted by another company, and ADT was out here the same day. They made a mistake. They charged me for the call. But after I explained it to them, they took the charge away.

Whenever we call ADT, they take care of things. We've been with them for about 30 years and we feel comfortable with them. Recently we redid the keypads and upgrade some stuff. It was easy. Also, I like that I can tell my phone to turn the alarm off or on.

For seniors, ADT is rather difficult. That’s why the 4-star and not 5-star rating. The App has functions and wording that, quite frankly, is greek to me. And requiring these things be done using your phone stinks. Personally, I hate that, so I have an iPad which is most helpful. Customer service is happy to walk me through those functions that they can not do on their end. (And that alone is a safety feature. Only I can do those things.) Make sure to tell customer service that you have an iPad or tablet. I do not have all the bells and whistles ADT offers. No cameras, no Ring Doorbell. Super tech stuff is most difficult for us seniors. Now I sleep well at night. Thank you, ADT.

Just to change the battery of my alarm, their technician charge a labor fee of $218.😡 It is such a rip-off just for a labor fee, he made me sign and did not show the amount he had charged!!! I was asking him how much was his charge, “He said, just call customer service, if it's an overcharge, just file a dispute.“ What a rip off!!!!

We saw ADT on the television. They were running a special when we signed up and we were supposed to get a $100 credit card Visa when we joined. But we never ever received it. Upon reaching out, their customer service rep apologized and was giving a sad story. Also, when we have any problem and we call them, some of the customer service reps don't understand what they're talking about and what we're talking about. For example, a yellow button came on and they tried to get it off, then they said that we had to buy a new battery which we had to order off of Amazon. That was a big mess.
Right now, we're in a locked price for life and I truly believe that we need to get an upgrade because we've been with them since 2018. They need to give us a special on an upgrade. Other than that, when I'm cooking and the alarm goes off, the fire trucks and the police officers are here in two seconds. They walk through to make sure there's no fire and I tell them I was burning something in the oven. So ADT has been pretty good with that. I would tell others that they should get ADT, too.

We started with ADT for a while, then stopped, and started up again. It has been five years that we’ve been under ADT. They are very reliable and quick to resolve an issue if there was any. We haven’t had any reason to need the system, but it works very well for us. We can see what's going on around our house. I like that we arm it from our phones and see the video from the app. We feel very secure and safe.

I've used their service for almost five years now. The service used to be very good but now, I consider it very poor. We were away for the week and I received a notice that there had been an incident at the home. Then a few minutes later, I received a call from ADT. I told them I was 300 miles away and I couldn't do much about what was going on at the house. They asked me if they could go ahead and alert the police, which I told them would be great. They hung up and called back five minutes later saying that the police wouldn't go out because my alarm had not been registered.
Thank goodness there was nothing here, but if there had been, we would have been burglarized because somebody did not alert the police, and we had an alarm system. We've had the service for quite a while and we never had a break-in or any reason to call the police, but I didn't feel it was my responsibility to call the police and tell them to register the alarm. If ADT told me it was my responsibility, I would have done that four years ago.
Other than that, up until now, every time I've called them, they'd send somebody out or told me how to solve whatever problem I might have had. But this incident has left me to the point where it's on my list this week to call them and cancel service, because I'm not happy with the fact that they left me hanging out without the ability to get ahold of the police. It's just not right.

I would not recommend ADT based on my experience trying to cancel and relocate service. My biggest concern is that ADT relied on internal “requirements” that were not clearly written into the contract. I was told a relocation/self-install package would resolve the remaining obligation on my old home, that I did not need to activate the new equipment, and that I had a return window. After signing and receiving the equipment, multiple ADT representatives told me the opposite: that I had to activate the new equipment for the relocation to count. No one could provide that requirement in writing or point to where it appeared in the signed contract.
ADT also charged me for the new account 10 days after signing, even though the service was not activated or rendered. My contract stated billing would begin either upon activation or on the 31st day after the contract date, regardless of activation. I returned the relocation equipment within the return window without activation. The process felt high-pressure, disorganized, and unsupported by clear written terms. Their representatives and online account system also could not consistently locate or explain the relocation account billing.

Very bad customer service and don’t resolve my problem over $1000 penalty with false alarm from the city and long period. I pay the monthly and can’t use the alarm.

I was looking into a home security system and ADT had a lot of good reviews. I've been with them for almost two years and so far, the system works pretty well for the most part, other than a few malfunctions. Their reps have been pretty helpful, with only one exception. But we were able to get the issues taken care of. Overall, it's been really good and I’d tell my friends that I have experience with ADT, and if they have any questions about it, I could answer those questions for them.

When I moved into this house 24 years ago, I had BellSouth Protection and somehow, it got moved into ADT. Nobody ever communicated until my alarm went off one night. Somebody was trying to give me the phone number because I had called the BellSouth number and I don't think I had anything to write it down with. So, I don't have any idea what their phone number is. I'd have to look up ADT’s number and call them. I don't have anything other than the sign that I asked for for my yard. I don't have anything but old BellSouth security stickers. Recently, it seems like the rates were going up to near $9, and if that happens, I won't be continuing with them.
Up until this week, when my last dog passed away, I would set my alarm and bypass my back doors, so that if I had to let them in the yard, it didn't set anything off. Now I'm setting it regularly and not bypassing anything once I'm in for the night. Before that, when I was bypassing, I would make the mistake of opening the basement door and I set it off probably once every two months. I do something stupid and forget that it was on and open the door, and that was a quick call from them. It's usually the recording, but I did get a human occasionally.

In our prior home, we had ADT since 1975. In this house, we've had it since 2000. I have only had interaction with customer service when I needed a new battery, and then when the alarm would go off on an occasion. For some reason, we'll figure out it was a cat. I've had ADT for about 20 years, and they gave me a free alarm if I signed a three-year contract. It’s been a good experience with ADT. The alarm always works. When I need help, the help lines are very helpful. They also just lowered my bill a few dollars. I also feel safe with the electronic umbrella over my house. However, others should not get the motion chimes ‘cause they don't work that well. They only record for 30 seconds. I'm satisfied with ADT, but not with the functionality of their motion sensor cameras.

Canceled my ADT services in January then found out I had been double billed for at least 4 years perhaps longer. I had ADT install a new system in 2022. They claimed they could not fix the old system. I paid 1919.50. The new system was temperamental and was giving false alarms. I switched to a local alarm company that have been much more responsive. You can talk to a person. They will come to make repairs instead of spending long intervals on the phone trying to trouble shoot the system.

Day 1: April 1, 2026. I discovered the system 103 Error on the panel and I attempted to resolve it based on previous ADT problem/solution, but that failed to permanently resolve the problem. Day 3: April 3, 2026. I called ADT, who informed me that they were already aware of the problem (problem with ADT’s Tower and AT&T), the problem is not with my home panel, and ADT became aware of the problem on Day 2. I inquired as to how I will know when the issue is resolved, do I need to call ADT or will ADT call me, and was informed that the error on my panel will disappear when its resolved. Note, ADT is aware of the lack of security on. Day 2. Result after call: unresolved problem.
Day 6: April 6, 2026. ADT calls me, selling an extension to my contract at the current rate. She informs me that the offer is good for 30 days. I informed her that the system is not working, and she responded as if she were unaware of that status. Note, my contract does not expire for 4+ months. Scam Alert: The government executes this same scam. They take something away, then offer you your status quo if you do something for them. In this case, if I extend the contract, then they restore the security system to it’s operating state. Day 26: April 26, 2026. Problem persists.
MY Background. As a previous Technical Specialist for the security system for a university, a communication problem between the tower and the panel is not a new security system problem to me, therefore, based on the length of this unresolved issue, its apparent that ADT deliberately created the issue and fails to resolve it. ADT is liable for any and all issues related to the lack of security of my residence (missing items, tampering, etc.).

ADT has been around for a good while and when we moved here, they had door-knockers come around. The young man who came to do the hub stayed a long time and told me that he was going to get everything straight for me. So, they've been really good. At first, the cameras that we had kept going offline, and I'd have to climb up on the ladder and reset them. But now, if they’d go off or something changes, I noticed they'll reconnect. In the app, they'll get back how it's supposed to be.
Other than that, it would be good if they did something like a packet for seniors. They have it for the military. As for the system, everything works well so far. The weird thing is, I have the Google Home app also and I have an extender. For some reason, the panel won't pick up the regular internet, but it will pick up the extender. I told the young man that came the other day for the internet about this and he said to just leave it like it is.
One day, everything was beeping, turning red, and it was because the battery had gone down in the carbon monoxide thing. So, it was saying that I had a carbon monoxide leak. ADT called my daughter and she didn't know what was going on. Then they called me and they told me that to be on the safe side, they were sending the firemen. So, they came and did the testing. Then their rep told me that he'd change the battery for me while he was here and I said okay because I had no clue what was happening. So, they acted really fast on that. Overall, I’d tell my friends to use ADT. The service is good and when I called in, saying about how the bill was a little steep, they figured out how to lower it some. They've been around longer than some of these new people that have cropped up, and you know you're with a stable company.

ADT is a nice security. We used to have Brinks a long time ago. We went to Xfinity. Then, we went to ADT. We did have some problems with the monitor when we had a storm. We called, and they fixed it, which was good. When we first got the monitor, they told me I pay $99, and then they were supposed to add it to my payment every month and take it out from there, but they didn't. They charged it on the card that I used to pay. They just kept going and going. I tried calling a few times. I couldn't get through to anybody. They would send me to people that I don't even know what they were talking about. The language was so bad that I asked one lady. I thought she said she was from Honduras and I couldn't even understand. So, then she passed me through another one who said, "No. I really don't know anything about it." So, I just let it go for a while there, until the thing went out, and then my daughter took care of it.
The reason we got the ADT security way back was because there are two houses here that used to be on the government for the low-income people, and one of them was a bunch of druggies, and they broke into our house during the day when we were at work. I didn't feel safe. I had smaller kids back then. So, we got the security system. My husband is getting up there in age, and the other day, he opened the window, and he forgot to take the security off. Somebody was calling, and it was the security. My husband and I are very happy with it. The security is pretty good, and if they ever needed something or it goes off, they call me right away. I have a sign sitting out in front of the house. They sent me two and for some reason, they're really thin, and they break very easily. So, maybe they should make those aluminum ones that don't break.

I had one episode when the monitor for carbon monoxide went out. I called to try to get it replaced. I was shocked that the guy was so rude and ugly. Also, I could never get anybody to give me any information on it. So, I went and bought a monitor of my own and put it in. That has been two or three years ago, but I was upset over that. Also, I had to pay upfront how much it would cost me right then without anybody coming out to check it. Other than that, I don't have any problem.
I need to upgrade my notifications on who to call. But I'm used to the programming. Also, I feel secure with it. If an emergency came up, it would go through and handle it quickly. I've had lots of calls and people come to my door and want to change and they weren't interesting. I had one the other day, and I said, “I've had ADT for years. And I don't intend on changing.”

While the service provides friendly workers who help with each problem, we have been plagued with so many false fire alarms that we will be removing the system from our home. The replacement batteries seem excessively expensive to me. Two different times the fire trucks came to the home expecting a fire. Other times I was able to get them cancelled. How many false alarms to my address before my husband and I as well as the fire department expect it to be false when finally it is real? They told me to dust the units but when I dust them they go off. I am 68, and need to understand how often they need me to get on ladders to keep their equipment from giving a false alarm. Never before with any system have I had a single false fire alarm. I am not impressed, ADT. Thanks but no thanks.

In several of my houses, I've had ADT. My experience has been very good. I haven't had any problems. The system is excellent. My favorite feature is the safety it provides me. I'd recommend ADT. I'd let other people know how satisfied I am with it.

I had told the salesperson about my house two story and I live on a busy street. I had gotten a camera and doorbell. I told them that the doorbell was dead. The wires was no good. When the person came out he didn't tell me that the doorbell would not work for sound inside my house at all. Even when I had called later to add on a camera after having the system I started to notice the doorbell ran down fast and we couldn't hear anything from the doorbell or the camera without carrying your cellphone around. It was also difficult for people in my home to sign on after a while. Lesser than a month I called and wanted know why I couldn't hear doorbell and why I couldn't get my Alexa to work with the system. When I had been asking if Alexa was integrated with ADT I was told yes but after been on the call and transferred over to another person I found out no.
Then found out I needed a speaker just to hear the doorbell and another charger of 100$ just for that. I wanted to cancel not being told the truth two times and not having the system lesser than a month. So they sent another person out after I made a call to try and cancel the guy on the phone. I told him my doorbell was dead. It didn't work. The whole thing was dead. It never worked. But he acted like he didn't understand and wanted to send someone out after I told him the wires didn't work and knows that the company doesn't do wiring and on a record line told me if it don't work he will get me a Ring doorbell. The tech came out, looked at it and said they don't do wiring and set up my phone settings and told him, "Exactly. I did know why the guy sent him out. The wiring don't work and you guys don't do wiring and the doorbell goes out quickly." That's when he set up my phone.
After being disappoint I still wanted out the contract. Called in to cancel. The lady gave me the speaker for free and another technician came out and seen the doorbell was running down quick and called in to have it replaced but now I have to wait until Tuesday for a doorbell and a speaker so we can hear the doorbell only and not the camera. We still have to carry phones around the house when I was told the system would be integrated with my Alexa. The system is not working for me. I live on a very busy street and I told them all of this and I had no wiring outside my house and that my doorbell wires didn't work and asked was the system work with my Alexa

Apparently after me and my family were in a home fire I was given two options- pay $1000 to cancel my services or continue to pay for a service I can't use until the repairs are done... sad that a company cares more about money than its customers.

I've had ADT for 10 years. Signing up was pretty easy and I would recommend them. But my experience with the customer support on chat and on the phone started out not really good. The agent I got on the chat just ghosted me. So, I had to call back and I asked to speak to an actual person. I got someone and he was very helpful. Then, ultimately, I needed a technician to come and fix what was going on. Apparently, at the time of installation, a couple of the glass break detectors had been mislabeled, kind of reversed from what they were, so the technician came and resolved that, and it was all good. But the chat is not always a good way to solve problems.

I have been a loyal ADT customer since 2013, but a recent equipment upgrade has completely destroyed my trust in this company. Shortly after the upgrade, the main controller board failed. Despite my home being protected by an APC surge protector and a Ting power monitoring system (which confirmed no surges occurred), the initial technician insisted a power surge "fried" the board. It was later proven to be a simple connection issue when wiggling a wire brought the system back online.
When I requested a second opinion, ADT quoted a $59 service fee. However, once the second technician arrived and began work, he pivot-billed me at a rate of $240 per 30 minutes. I was ultimately presented with a bill for nearly $500 to troubleshoot a part that only costs $170. Most disturbingly, the technician stated he could not leave my property until I signed off on the work. I felt intimidated and price-gouged. While a manager eventually reduced the bill to $300 "under protest" without ever speaking to me directly, the experience was predatory. After over a decade of service, I am appalled by ADT’s lack of transparency and their high-pressure billing tactics.

Repeatedly charged for service not received. Dealt with mgr. Darrell in Phoenix 4/21/26 3:00pm. Did no good and he refused to forward to a supervisor. Mgr. was very condescending and kept repeating himself like a parakeet. I had to cancel my credit card to stop payments. Stupid for a manager to upset customers considering how much business ADT has lost (including me) to RING.

This made my experience a lot better and I am definitely going to return as a customer when my circumstances changes. DO NOT choose ADT. This is a money grabbing company who is heartless. I have been a customer since 2014. 12 years! For the past 5 years, after moving to another state and remaining loyal to them with continuing their service, half of our panels did not work. They had tried to resolve it via phone and sending out technicians but still doesn't work. To remain loyal, I still continued with them.
I remained loyal to them up until now and I will do everything I can to tell my story. My husband lost his job and we have to move to a place that does not have security system. We are essentially homeless. Yet, ADT will not do anything aside from "3 months lower" payment. 3 months is a joke. Essentially it only saves me $72 total. DO NOT sign a contract because despite the panels not working for us and my husband losing his job and we will homeless, they do not care. DO NOT go with ADT! Go somewhere else.

Horrible company. They will not let me cancel my account, when I move, they say I cannot cancel for another year. It’s been another year and they will not let me cancel!!! They say some excuse. Always trying to sell you something else. Now say my account is late.., funny it’s on automatic payment. Full of bad excuses!!!

Their tech people installing the systems don't know where to install. They did not put water sensors in the correct area, and my basement got flooded over 3 times. We pay more to ADT because we think we will get of peace of mind and better service. Now I am wondering is it worth paying them more. Other companies charge less than them to get your basement flooded without you being alerted.

Because of this improper installation, I am now being told I must pay approximately $125 for a technician to come out and address the issue. I do not believe it is fair to charge me for a service call when the problem appears to be the result of incorrect installation by your technician. They got me right when I moved in, offering a 3 year contract. The subcontractors they sent to install were total hacks. They drove about 25 DRYWALL screws into my aluminum siding to secure a 3ft run of camera cable. They said the cameras would be "hardwired," which I took to mean they would somehow tie into my breaker box. Instead they drilled through the walls to install big ugly plugs in my bedroom outlets. I have a small and old house with limited outlet space, which made this pretty inconvenient.
I called to complain and was ignored. Worse yet, that same camera has never worked in 3 years and all complaints have been ignored. The camera recording feature on their app has never worked for ANY of my cameras, all I get is live feed, which is near useless since the cameras don't tell me when someone triggers the motion sensors. Overall, awful customer service, miscommunications that were just waved away, and bad hardware and installation. At least my cat can tell when I get home because of the door chime. What a big fat waste of money.

The ADT system is more than what I need, but I'm satisfied with it. It has a front camera and a backyard camera. Sometimes I'm going to the Senior Center to learn the computer, and it's kind of too much IT for me, but the IT part of the ADT system is quite understandable for a simpleton. When I look on my phone to see what's going on, I'm content with it. A couple of places have been broken into, and the police has came to look at it, but it was out of the view of the situation. ADT is a good thing to have. I have accidentally set the alarm off, but they were understanding and took care of the problem. A couple of times, the alarm went off by itself with the back door being open, and they understood the situation and resolved it to my satisfaction.

I’ve had a very frustrating experience with ADT and SafeStreets. It has been about a month since I scheduled the installation of three security cameras, and the issue is still not resolved. The first technician arrived without the cameras and had to order them. The second technician came but could not install the cameras, claiming the issue was with my internet provider. I was then told I needed to switch to another provider, which is completely unreasonable and added extra costs beyond my budget. After multiple calls and rescheduling, a third technician came and once again, the cameras were not installed. This level of disorganization and lack of accountability is unacceptable. I’ve had to continuously follow up just to get basic service completed. To make matters worse, I am now locked into a 3-year contract and cannot cancel without paying over $1,000 in fees, despite the service not being properly delivered. Overall:
Unreliable service
Lack of professionalism
No resolution after multiple visits
I strongly do not recommend ADT / SafeStreets. Save your time, money, and frustration look elsewhere for security services.

I almost became a customer of ADT, and I’m very glad I didn’t. Unfortunately, even without ever using their service, this has been one of the worst experiences I’ve had with any company. After signing up, I quickly realized I didn’t want to switch systems and decided not to move forward before installing any equipment. As soon as I received the equipment, I called right away to return it. I was told I’d receive a refund within 14 days. That never happened.
Due to a surgery, I wasn’t able to follow up immediately. The next month, I was charged for both the equipment and a service fee anyway. When I called, I was told my account hadn’t been closed properly and that they would fix it and refund me. I did eventually get the service fee back, but getting the equipment charges refunded was a hassle and took way more effort than it should have.
I clearly asked for my account to be closed and my information removed so I wouldn’t be charged again. I was told it was taken care of. Then in April, I was charged AGAIN for equipment they had already received back in early March and even confirmed they had. I had to call once again to request yet another refund, only to be told my card was still on file. At that point, I had to request (again) for my information to be removed. This experience has been beyond frustrating. I was charged multiple times for a service I never used and equipment I returned. At this point, it feels like they’re taking money that doesn’t belong to them. I would strongly recommend avoiding ADT.

What a nightmare I just had with ADT customer service. I've been using them for 17 years and their monitoring service has been fine but I am now moving and when I called ADT to cancel my service, no joke.... I was transferred to 4 different people and after going through the security check each time, I was transferred to another department, who transferred me to another department until I was transferred a 4th time (and more than 20 minutes on hold) only to have the representative pretend she could not hear me and then, hung up on me. Called back and got some of the same people who continue to transfer me. I was told that since I had a contract that was still one year to go, I would be charged over $300.00 to cancel the contract.
LET ME EXPLAIN... about 2 years ago, the battery in my ADT system went bad. ADT insisted that I must get an upgraded system. After they installed it, I read the fine print and realized that I had a 3 year contract that I could not get out of. Needless to say, I was pretty upset. Bait and Switch is what they did to me. I knew I would be moving in the next year or two. SO... going back to my recently trying to cancel my service, due to the move...
I finally reached a guy by the name of "Christopher" who seemed nice but not really sure I was believing him. He seemed shocked that after 17 years of service, I would be charge a $300.00 cancellation and assured me that he would waive that fee AND cancel my service immediately. I asked him for a confirmation to be emailed to me, but he said ADT does not do that... but he was willing to give me his phone number and extension. WHAT???? What good would that do me? I just simply wanted a confirmation of my cancelled service.
I'm still not positive this will be done. Today is April 15th and my last bill is paid through April 30th. Somehow, I have the feeling that my service will not be turned off, I will go into collections for not paying the $300.00 cancellation fee and I will receive a new bill for the upcoming quarter (May through July). WHAT A HOT MESS!!! I will NEVER use their service ever again, just because of this experience.

Peter is incompetent. He has been out here a few times. Each time we asked for hardwired cameras, and each time he brought plug in wifi cameras. THEN he argued with us, saying that we told him we wanted the plug in cameras. We had to kick him out of our home and find a new company. Peter is apparently a manager btw.

ADT had the contract to the house that we're currently in when we moved in and we've kept them for at least 6 years now. The reps have been good. I'm pleased with ADT. There've been a few sensors that we've added and I have everything that I want based on where we are and price.

ADT’s contract practices are deeply frustrating and feel fundamentally unfair. While the company makes accommodations for military personnel facing relocation, it does not extend the same consideration to civilians who are also navigating major life changes—such as selling a home without an immediate new residence where service can be transferred. Instead, customers are locked into rigid agreements that result in excessive termination fees, sometimes exceeding $1,000, even when continued service is no longer practical or possible.
Relocation is a legitimate and often unavoidable circumstance. With proper documentation, it should be sufficient grounds for a reasonable contract adjustment or termination without punitive financial consequences. The current approach creates the impression that customers are being trapped in agreements designed more to extract fees than to provide ongoing value. If policies like this remain unchanged, it raises serious concerns about fairness and customer respect. Companies should be working to retain trust and goodwill—not enforcing terms that leave customers feeling exploited. Consumers deserve flexibility, transparency, and equitable treatment, regardless of whether they are military or civilian.

As a customer of this company for more than 8 years paying a premium charge of over $80.00 a month I have found the following to be true!
1. They charge outrageous prices for shoddy and old equipment!
2. It’s almost impossible to cancel their service without a hundred calls of harassment!
3. The one time my alarm went off I had to call and ask them why they didn’t call me. Their reply was if the code was put in they didn’t bother! I then asked how they knew that I didn’t have a gun on me and was made to put in the code? I didn’t even have the change to give them a bad password!
4. After deciding they are a company of no integrity we found another company and the installer sent an email from my phone to cancel the service. A month or so later the threatening call started. They said in order to cancel we had to call. So we used that call to cancel. Then the $350.00 bills started coming in! They threatened ruining our credit etc.. We don’t owe a penny to anyone so we didn’t care about our credit. We pay cash for everything!
4. To get this insulting company off our backs we finally sent a check. This comp May should lose its license to be in business!

So far, I've been really pleased with ADT. I've not had an emergency where it was vital for me, but it's been good. They keep going up on my premium, though. I've just got the basics, and it climbed $20. But I understand everything goes up. Also, one time, one of the yard signs got broken, just through wear, weather, and they immediately sent me another one without question. I just went online, and there was a place to order it and just did it really quickly. And they sent it to me.

ADT is responsible and has the most up-to-date technology. I can do some things online, like get a yard sign if one disappeared on me. They are efficient about everything. Their customer service is excellent as well. I've had them for about 25 years and we had to change out the system here a little bit. They came in and had to cook up the WiFi receiver. Then they added a couple of motion detectors. I needed some in the garage and in the house, and the technician had changed those out. The WiFi system is working very well. I've also got it on my phone for when we leave the house. I've got the stickers in the windows all around on the lower level and that works out pretty well too. ADT does the job and they understand how home security now is very important and that it has to be quickly responsive if there's any alert or alarm going off. They are very professional and responsive, which are the two things that are most important in a security system business.

The self-install gear is cheap and breaks easily. They have different customer service and apps for self install. When you call, since it's self-install, it’s hard to find our account info and get help. They just charged me and now want to bill me for another month after I canceled. I’ll never use this company again because of how they handle cancellations.

They are a horrible security company. When I signed up because they weren't going to take no for a answer. They kept saying 30 days money back guarantee. So when the equipment got here I never opened the box and sent it back. Well they took 30 minutes if that to take my money, but getting my money back is a different story. It's been over 40 days and I still haven't got my money back. So it's all lies. There is no guarantee.

Not too long ago, I had to replace the battery and we, my husband and I, were able to do that with the coaching from ADT. It was a very, very good man who coached us through that and it went down successfully. So I would give them 100% on that engagement. I'm in the design and construction business and I could go to a local company that would be cheaper and I could call the man on his cellphone day or night, 24 hours a day, and get immediate help, which is desirable. It's more desirable than what you get.
I used to be ADT Gold because I contracted to put in some ADT systems at various customers' houses number of years ago. So they were my favorite back in the day. Now, I know a couple of family-run alarm businesses in Houston that if I were starting from scratch, I'd probably use for the reasons I just stated, just because they're not a huge company. But as a huge company, sometimes I tell ADT, "Stop raising my prices. Don't charge me so much. You're not competitive anymore," and they lowered my cost by a dollar.

"I would give zero stars if I could. After replacing my modem, my ADT panel refuses to connect to the Wi-Fi, even with a dedicated 2.4GHz band. After multiple calls, customer service admitted it’s likely a 'glitch' or an 'old device,' yet they refused to fix it without charging me for a technician visit. They are fully aware my system is offline and I have no protection, yet they continue to charge me every month. When I tried to cancel, I was told I’m locked into a 3-year contract. It is predatory to charge full price for a non-functional system and then demand more money just to make it work. Avoid ADT if you want a company that actually provides the security you pay for." I’ve been with ADT for more than four years, and my recent experience has been incredibly disappointing. At the beginning of this year, my monthly bill suddenly jumped to about five times what I had been paying under a long-term promotional rate. After paying that bill, I called to complain, but nothing meaningful was resolved, so I canceled. Later, I called back one more time because, despite everything, I had actually been happy with the service overall and wanted to see whether there was any reasonable loyalty pricing that would make it worth staying. I was told they could get me back to my original rate, but that I first needed to reactivate service and sign a contract, and then the customer loyalty team would step in and honor the negotiated price.
Based on that representation, I went through the entire process again: contract, reactivation, and follow-up calls. Then everything changed. I was told the promised price would not be honored, that it supposedly could not take effect, and that the contract could not be modified for a full year after activation. The notes from the prior agent were reviewed, but I was told they “didn’t count.” The only thing they said they could do was cancel the contract I had just been persuaded to enter.
That is the most troubling part of this experience: I was talked into reactivating based on a promise that the post-activation pricing would be adjusted, and then the account management side refused to honor what the sales side had represented. I was even told it is “theoretically impossible” to modify an activated contract before it expires in 2027. This was not just poor customer service. It reflected inconsistent communication, contradictory promises, internal misalignment between teams, failure to honor documented notes, and pricing practices that felt misleading.
To be clear, I was not expecting ADT to keep me forever at the same unusually low price I had years ago. I understood that rate was exceptional, and I was willing to accept some increase. What made this experience so frustrating is that, in the end, it stopped being about the price level at all. It became about being lured into a contract based on one promise, only to be told afterward that the promise never really counted. I wanted to stay with ADT, but this experience left me feeling misled and completely let down. If ADT wants to keep long-time customers, it needs to make sure its sales, loyalty, and account teams are aligned and that commitments made to customers are actually honored.

I am filing this complaint due to ADT’s failure to restore my service despite full payment of my account. My bill has been paid, yet my service remains inactive. Instead of correcting their internal error, ADT has repeatedly threatened to send my account to collections for a balance that does not exist. I have contacted customer support multiple times, and each representative acknowledges the payment but provides no resolution. This ongoing issue is unacceptable for a company entrusted with home security. I expect immediate correction of my account status, restoration of service, and removal of any erroneous collection threats.

ADT has been handy quite a few times. We've had them for about 21 years. When the sensors went off, they helped in, and also with the alarm going off in error several times. So they were good with that.

If I have some issues, I usually get somebody on the phone. They're always very considerate and concerned about what you're trying to correct or fix. Then if it can't be done, ADT has new technology now where they can do remote sessions. If that doesn't work, then they send out somebody to our home. Right now, everything is fine. The only thing that I've noticed recently is that I sometimes get a false notification that something is wrong. It has to do with the batteries beginning to go out in certain devices.
For instance, about a week ago, in the middle of the night a beeping that said a window in my office was being tampered with. I don't really think it was. It was either something with the device itself or the battery in the device. In fact, I was going to call ADT again about it because it happened before, and then everything was okay. They looked at it and said it was fine, and then I got that notification. But that's only been fairly recently because we've had our systems in place for a while. Other than that, it's worked okay.

When we were steaming off wallpaper, it set off the alarm and the fire department came here, but that was okay. We have the same old equipment that we had when ADT installed it. We haven't upgraded at all. But we know that if it goes off, people will be protected. If people try to get in, they can't because the alarm goes off. We're very secure. It's been a good experience. It's there and we know it's there and it's protecting us and that's what we wanted.

I agree with all of the other negative reviews regarding this so called “top rated” company. They’ve already cancelled two appointments at the last minute after me having to take off work and drive over a hundred miles just for a simple installation. ADT bought Brinks and I stayed with them since I had no problems with the service. I’ve been a customer since June 2005 and some upgrades have been made since then. Dealing with the reps who came out to install was fine and the features of my package are good.

I've been with my home security company before it was ADT, at least from 1990 till the present. I need the protection of the alarm because I live on a busy street. I got outdoor cameras a couple of years ago, but when I first started, I didn't even know if they had outdoor cameras. Everything was fine with installation. Overall, I have no problems with ADT, and everything so far has been okay. If I needed help, they were there. Having ADT has been a good experience.

I’m disgusted with customer service from my ADT provider. They took 9 hours to install two cameras and a doorbell and the next day the cameras didn’t work, 3 weeks later they still don’t work and no one has been to my home yet. I have no idea how to work my system because there was no clear instruction on how to set zones, record, or how to set up the Google device they sold me. I replied to an email ADT sent me with a long detailed letter that my service is not working and if I can’t have instruction and cameras fixed, then I want out of contract.
The next day I looked at my email and it was a response back that ADT does not take replies by email. I googled ADT and complained and they didn’t have a tech that could come to my home for a little over a week, the day the tech got here he told me by phone call that he drove the wrong truck that didn’t have the sticker decal to enter into our gate. It’s now been over 3 weeks, and still no service. I called ADT again and spoke to Lady and I was giving her my concern and she basically wanted to tell me what I signed on a contract. I told her I wanted someone at my home and she said she doesn’t have anybody that is available at this time and it got to the point. I was so irritated with them. I just hung up. I would never recommend ADT for service.

I had a security system installed and the installer said that I had to pay off the equipment in five years, but I could cancel my service anytime. LIE LIE LIE. They trapped me into a five-year contract and said if I canceled, I had to keep paying for their monitoring fee. I called them a month after it was installed and wanted to cancel, and they told me I had to write a letter to their headquarters. I wrote the letter but never received any response. I would stay away from ADT. I was lied to and they could care less. Bad company. If I could give less than one star I would.

I went through two security systems until they were both bought out by ADT in the late 90s. The techs came and rewired the whole world and put fresh detectors in. I've had the same quarterly charges since the time I opted into ADT. I also get free batteries for replacement in some of the remote detectors that aren’t hardwired. I have called them for help probably 10 times in the last 20 years and one time, they sent a technician. One of the smoke detectors was bad and he noticed that my motion detector in the living room wasn't working, which we hadn’t noticed, and he immediately went out to his truck, got a new motion sensor, and installed it. All of this at no cost. The other times, they explained the problems and I fixed them over the phone.
When we accidentally set off the alarm, we enter our code twice, and that tells ADT that it was us and not something else so they don't bother us. A couple of times, the alarm has gone off, and they have called us within five to 10 minutes to ask if everything was okay. Then, we have to give the password to say that we're okay. The reps have been very professional and are always on time. If I need batteries, they send them that day. They know what the system is and don't have to send me to somebody else to answer questions. Every time I've called, the person who answered the phone knew what I needed to do. Overall, I've had great experiences with ADT. I get marketing emails from them periodically, saying that they'll give me a refund if anybody else gets their system through my referral. But most of my neighbors already have ADT, so that's not very easy to do.

ADT is a good system. If you live alone, you should get it. The installation was quick. It took less than two hours. The system has been enough, except when the batteries get low, the system goes off like somebody broke in. ADT called me at 3:30 in the morning. It was just the battery, but the wall panel should have read, “Low battery.” The cops came, they looked around, and didn't see any breach. ADT did a virtual call. I waited for them to come here, but they said, “No, you got it wrong. We didn't tell you that.” I said, “Yes, you did. I didn't know it was just gonna be a phone call. You had me wasting half my day.” But the guy that did the call was nice and walked me through changing my sensors.

Pick any other company. ADT uses deceptive sales practices and forces you into a perpetual 3 year contract. Once you sign up for their services, they will never let you cancel. I have never ever experienced such a deceitful company.

ADT is effective, good, and reliable. I can recommend it to anybody. Sometimes, if I open the door and not go in quickly, ADT calls me within seconds to remind me that one of the doors is open. That's good for me. Even this morning, I thought I turned off the system. By the time I opened the door and came back, ADT already texted. That's effective.

I’ve been a customer of ADT since August of last year. I’ve never had a home security system before, and it came through a real estate deal. The system was already installed and all I had to do was have the technician come out to switch it over from the previous owner to me. The features are good and meet my expectations.

When my co-worker’s husband came in and talked to me about ADT, I liked his presentation. And he was a good salesman. I bought the basic plan, and it's all that I need. I live in a small townhouse. One time, I had a problem with one of the sensors in my living room, and they came and replaced it. ADT has been very good. They provide what they say they're going to provide. I've had trouble with two different sensors. One was a window sensor, and the other was a sensor in my living room. They came out and fixed it right away. I've had them for almost 10 years now in two different houses, and they've had to send me new plaques for the yard, and they're easy to use. I use the key fob in my bedroom. That's my primary. However, one thing that I don't like is changing the battery on the wall plaque, because that is a pain. It's terrible. I'm 77 now, and I have arthritis in my hand, so it's really hard to change that battery. They need a better design.

ADT popped up on Facebook and people who had ADT were happy with it. It was easy to get in touch with the sales rep and the installation went well. There were some issues with the wiring on our part, but he was able to handle that. We added cameras, front and rear, when we purchased the package. I was having problems with the sensor strips falling off. I have one off right now and we’ve put it back a few times, and it doesn’t stick. But other than that, the system, thus far, is working. I got a call at about 2 o'clock saying that they detected motions on my deck, which was unnerving. But I have a camera back there. I've been very happy with ADT. I've had a couple of things I needed to call them about, and they were very prompt.

We had Guardian, and it was awful. They didn't have local people. And when you call, the closest person is in Pennsylvania, and we were in South Carolina. We had some issues, and we needed tech support fairly close, and they would contract it out. We got fed up, and we switched to ADT three years ago. It's night and day. First of all, we're well into our 70s. We are not techies at all. So when that little screen starts doing things that I don't understand or buzzing, I call them. I've called them more times, and they always answer. They're so helpful and excellent. I like ADT for the fire alarm, smoke alarms, carbon monoxide, and I like the security if we had to leave for an extended period.

1.) 1-30-2024: Signed up service for alarm system package. 2.) 5-24-25: Signed up for camera service and began having issues with this service 8 days after enrollment. Camera resolution unusable quality and audio recording is unrecognizable. The cameras will record for a week. After which they no longer record and we need to re-setup our account. We have been calling about this issue monthly since we set up our account with our account representative Casey. Additionally, we need a $1,000.00 refund on some cameras we purchased that we never used due to the problems.
3.) Casey assured us that it was due to system just being set up, and that we had went with the most advanced cameras that ADT offered. So Casey updated the system and we were assured that going forward the system issues would be resolved. Nothing ever changed. We just went on wasting time. The cameras randomly not video recording. We waited until the end of the year to try find a solution, but nothing changes. We never received a Termination letter.
4.) 3-11-2026: Called to discuss the reason for my cancellation and after going through several prompts and after spending over 10 minutes with the automated system I spoke with a representative informing me that I would need to call another number since I have an IMFORMIX. I called the number that I was given and the automated system that picked up the call and recognized that I had just called, so the agent sent me back to the original number I had called.
On this same day, I contacted our original account manager Casey **, and he actually quit the company because he could not deal morally with the way customers are treated. He stated that his manager had actually quit also, so he gave us the number to the new regional managers to contact. We are tired of wasting time and getting nowhere with this company, so we are hoping that you can help us recover our service costs with this company as we have gone elsewhere. I’ve been a customer since 2/99. They want to charge me 160.00 for a tech to come and replace the battery. My outside camera not working and they only have a technician to come fix that Monday-Friday. I work! No customer care or loyalty. They don’t care.

ADT acquired Protection One, the company I was with and it’s been nine years that I’ve been with them. I never knew that the smoke detectors expire and stop working after seven years, and their warranty is five years. I couldn't deactivate the smoke detectors without beeping, so I had to call ADT or pay to replace the smoke detectors. Their techs had to remove the smoke detectors from the system monitoring and disable them. In order to upgrade the whole system, ADT wanted $1,200. But other than the issue with the smoke detectors, it's been satisfactory. There was a couple of false alarms and the reps called right away, especially when a smoke alarm went off.
The customer service was excellent once I got through to someone who spoke English, especially the tech people who tried hard to fix the issue over the phone. They then scheduled a technician who had me check the system and walk through the process instead of sending someone to the house, which saved me. Overall, my experience with ADT has been good. The price is a little high for what they provide, and it could be better. Also, before somebody switches, they should know that the equipment is only good for five years and you have to update the system within so many years. They usually don't tell you this because other people will change their minds.

For the most part, my experience with ADT has been good and positive. I’ve had ADT for eight years now, and when I have issues, customer service can usually get them handled and taken care of quickly. People should sign up if they’re looking for somebody. When I was having issues before, I had a very outdated system, and they came by a few years ago and installed an updated keypad. It’s not the new high-tech ones they have now, but it wasn’t from the 1980s like I had before. Right now, I have some outdated sensors in my home that are affecting my Pulse app, telling me things are open when they’re not. I need to call and have that updated.
All of the people who have come out have been good, but not all of them work directly for ADT. Some are contractors, so it has taken a little longer to get things handled. One contractor installed sensors and may have changed the sensitivity, because the alarms were going off in the middle of the night and scaring my child and me. After that, someone from ADT came out and fixed it and corrected it.

I've been with ADT since 1998. My parents had ADT at one time and that's who I went with. Anytime I've gone anywhere, I've just checked them. Then, when I rented a property, I did the ADT Blue instead of the regular. I feel comfortable with them. Whenever I've called for assistance, they've been proactive and contacted me back and they have walked me through the system to reset stuff. Sometimes, when you have a good thing, you just never think about changing it.
When our electricity would go out, I'd have to reboot stuff, and the representative would stay online with me and allow me to follow through all the steps, and everybody's been helpful. When we had it installed, the guy was great. He went over everything. There were some things that he could not do because we had the thermostat, but they couldn't install that after they found out because the type of system we had and the thermostat weren’t compatible. But other than that, the guy was great. We have motion detectors, and everything seems to have been fine, along with the smoke detector. It's overall been a great experience.

ADT gives you a sense of security and I’ve stayed with them for eight years. I feel comfortable with it. We added the front doorbell camera and I like it. One time, there might have been a power surge and the system stopped working. So, we upgraded to the newer wall panel, which is a touchscreen, and it works just fine.

Do not get ADT. Their window sensors do not work. I have to routinely reset the system to be able to set up my alarm. Worst investment I’ve ever made. The other thing is that they tied you up to a long term contract but they don’t tell you that. They tell you how much you are supposed to save.

In 2023 my wife and I purchased a home and took up payments on the prior tenants' ADT equipment 'cause they was in the new house only months. The day the tech came out to hook up the system he went downstairs and stayed a long time. When he came back he told me he couldn’t locate a couple of the smoke detectors and that the prior tenants must had taken them. We paid a lot extra to replace them. Several months later my wife told me there were two detectors in one closet upstairs and two more in a closet downstairs. When he took them down he couldn’t bring them up 'cause I was there. He mounted them on the wall in the closets and then sold me more to up his commission. The ones he put up were less than ten feet in both spots apart from the ones in the closets.
We have been dealing with ADT three years and during that time they never called to see why the alarms went off and they went off several times in three years. As soon as we told them we were going to cancel they call now every day talking about something owed, equipment will not work 'cause they fix it like that once you prepare to leave. The pad cameras or nothing work since we told them over four months. I am in process with Lawyers with pictures, recordings and all. Then they respond by telling you to email them somewhere else, they know the case. Where you see the detectors on the pictures the others he put up are right in the open door, that close. Will only let you take one picture. Foul.

We wanted some security. We decided to use ADT and we've been protected for about 12 years. The only thing is they're overpriced. As happy as I am with their service, I am considering alternatives because of pricing.

I've had ADT since 2008 at my starter home. Now, I don't have that home anymore. But even at my new home, I didn't think twice. They transferred my service over, and I didn't have any issues with it. One time, I was out of the country, and my alarm tripped. I was able to get the notification through my cell phone. We were able to get it all resolved and get the authorities over there. What happened was it wasn't even an intruder or anything like that. It was just that my daughter didn't close the door properly or fully. But the response time was good, and I appreciate it. Everything was okay.
However, one time, we had a couple of back-and-forths. They tried to resolve things over the phone, but eventually, they had to send a physical technician out to resolve things. But I still would recommend ADT to a friend.

My ADT system in Florida is iffy, but up here in Connecticut, they're amazing. In the 25 years I’ve been with them, the customer service has always been very polite, knowledgeable and helpful.

We've been with ADT for 13 years now, and our experience has been very good. They've been doing their job. Anytime I've had to reach out, everything has been pleasant. The system has worked well. It's been sensitive like it should be and has set off alarms as it should, and we've been notified by the monitoring team, and everything's worked out well. I've been pleased with it because it's not been a problem system. I would recommend ADT.

I bought a brand new house 30 years ago and I put an ADT system in. Their customer service has been fine. The new package that we upgraded to is very good as well. I had an old system that when I changed my doors, I had to upgrade ‘cause I couldn't put nails in my doors.

I didn't have an alarm system and someone broke into my house. It’s been a long time since I went with ADT and the communication with them has been good. I called them about a battery and they sent me one after I paid for it. The alarm lets me know if someone is coming in, and which door it is. The ADT system works and I feel safe. I’m just waiting on them to put the cameras in. I still have the old DSL line and the cameras will be slow and eat up all my data. So, I’m waiting for the fiber optic to be available in my area.

ADT happened to be the first one I saw and decided to go with them. That was 13 years ago and the reps came here last time to get everything upgraded. I’ve been very satisfied with my experience.
