Bought an Emerson TV on Black Friday. The remote power on/off button quit working. Now the #2 button has stopped working. Called Emerson and were told to get receipt from 2011!! Doubt that they will be any help, but how many people keep their receipts for 2 years??? This is the second Emerson TV we have purchased. The first one came on or shut off whenever it wanted to, with the volume blaring. When we tried to shut if off, we had to unplug it.
This will be the last Emerson TV we will ever buy. All we wanted was a remote and they are too chintzy to even honor that. DO NOT BUY ANYTHING EMERSON. PUT THOSE PEOPLE OUT OF BUSINESS. I HOPE THE EMERSON PEOPLE READ THIS. NO STARS FOR YOU, CREEPS.

This TV has been my BLACK FRIDAY LAST STRAW!!!!!!!!! I thought wrongly that this could be a good deal. Today for the first time I tried to plug in multiple HDMI devices and lo and behold the warranty is out and the "Extra jacks" don't work. Emerson, you have made me decide not to go Black Friday shopping again.

We bought an Emerson 32" from Walmart on Black Friday 2010. We didn't have any problems with it until the beginning of this year when we began having trouble turning it on. It would light up as if it was turning on but then just turn back off. It has progressively gotten worse and now it won't turn on at all. My husband looked into maybe getting it fixed but the cost was more than what we paid for it & like everyone else no luck with Emerson. We will NEVER again buy an Emerson TV.

I got the Emerson 32" LCD TV on Black Friday 2011. Today it stopped working; the power simply will not turn on. It looks like I'm having the same problem so many others here have had. I know the TV isn't under warranty, so I'm on my own to either find a repair person or replace the television altogether; I can afford neither right now.
Yippee, more unnecessary expenses for consumers because corporations cut corners, build with shoddy materials and poor craftsmanship, and sell us pieces of junk not intended to work longer than one year. So angry right now! Bottom line - do not waste your money buying the Emerson televisions. Yes, the price is right, but in this case it's obvious the low price equals low quality.

I bought an Emerson 40" LCD from Walmart on Black Friday... Thought I was buying a great deal. After almost 2 years, the picture went completely out. We have sound but no picture and it is out of warranty... I think Emerson produced a large quantity of low quality TVs that were no GOOD!

I also bought an Emerson from Walmart. My Emerson would not turn on so I tried to find a TV repair place. I had to call Emerson and they told me to drive 50 miles away. There was no place in my city. I drove 50 miles away. My Emerson was still under warranty. After 2 weeks I call the repair company and they was told I was out of warranty. He told them he received the TV while in warranty but they would not send the part. This has been going on now for several weeks. I called the company. I don't know what is wrong with those people? I even have on my e-mail where they are asking me to buy another warranty, that mine would expire on a certain date and I took the TV to be repaired before that date was up.
This is what we get for buying products from other countries. Their products are no good and they do not have any manners or they do not care about their customers. I called the repair company again and they told me another man has brought his TV in and it is also not turning on and Emerson will not send the parts. I also believe we need to do something about this. These people are getting rich off of the American people. As you know the headquarters are from Daito, Osaka, Japan. Its US based subsidiary is Funai corp. in Torrance, California. They are the main supplier of electronics to Walmart and Sam's Club stores and they top 5 million flat-televisions during the summertime per year for the Black Friday sales. I bet they are getting a good laugh at us.

My wife and I noticed an Emerson 42" LCD TV on Black Friday at Walmart, only 1 left (lucky us)... so we bought it, got it home, and I hooked it up that same night. Guess what? BLUE SCREEN OF DEATH! I returned it and Walmart gave me another one... Fast forward to a year and a few months later and now it's just out of warranty and the IR SENSOR IS BAD! Remote will not work at all. In my opinion, a TV without remote capabilities is bound for Craigslist curb alert. I'm not gonna waste my time with Emerson... I hope they go out of business.

Emerson TV/DVD unit = LD190EM1 totally quit working. Same issue as most of the other postings. Very little use, less than 50 hours over 2 1/2 years, used for DVD playing only in guest bedroom. Placed DVD into unit, started the play, after 5 minutes, got a flash of light from rear of this TV and then no power... dead unit!! Now we have a great paperweight!! Sent email to Emerson. I just turned on my Emerson TV, also purchased from Wal-Mart during a Black Friday Sale a few years back. I am a single woman and turn on the TV about once a week. Anyways, it ran for about 15 seconds and then, with no warning or previous problems, the TV died. I thought the electricity must have gone out, but that was not the case. I googled to try and get an idea of what could have gone wrong. It seems to be the same problem that most others are experiencing. Does anyone have an idea as to how much it would cost to repair this problem?

Complain, Complain, Complain, DEMAND A FULL REFUND. My TV was eight months old. After they replaced it under warranty (do not pay the extortion fee) it went out again this time only after 45 days. I DEMANDED A FULL REFUND AND GOT IT. I went to Best Buy online and bought another brand with an extended warranty 4 years for an extra $45. I hope this work out better. BEFORE YOU BUY ANOTHER TV READ COMPLAINTS NOT THE REVIEWS. THEY ARE FROM PEOPLE WHO JUST OPENED THE BOX. BEWARE OF ALL FUNAI BRANDS - EMERSON SYLVANIA, MAGNAVOX, ETC. This Funai Corp has bought Great USA brand names and had the products built in China by farm labors using shovels and rakes and hammers. They do not have Quality Control. They say High Quality at Affordable Prices, there is nothing affordable about a TV that will not last its warranty. STAY AWAY.

The problem with these TVs is that 2 electrolytic capacitors in the power supply go out. The power supply is located just under the back cover of the TV. The capacitors that are bad will be bulging at the top not flat like the others. Easy to UN-solder and replace, but must observe the polarity and replace the same way they come out. In my TV the capacitors were 1000uP 25 volt high temp, I replaced them with 1000up 35 volt high temp, so maybe they won’t go out again.

Of course Emerson was glad to give us the number of a TV repair person in our region. Other than that, they were useless. (My daughter has just gotten hers out of the box and started using it, so hers is still working but for how long.) 7 months is what we got out of this TV and it probably wasn't turned on 12 times during that time. We bought a 32 in Emerson TV from Walmart less than two years ago. Yesterday, we took our son on his birthday and bought him a video game. He was so excited and told us he couldn't wait to get home to play his game. When we got home he ran straight to his room to play his game. He came to me and said "Mom, something's wrong with my TV." I tried everything to get that TV to work...not a chance. Needless to say he was sooooo disappointed. This was a horrible thing to have happen to him on his birthday. I called Emerson customer service. The rep did some basic troubleshooting stuff just to tell me well its no longer under warranty, there's nothing they can do.
I will NEVER buy another Emerson anything ever again. I am also warning all of my family and friends about the poor quality of Emerson and how they do not stand behind their product. I may have got shafted now but in the long run Emerson will get theirs too. They don't care about putting out a quality product. They only care about getting your money, leaving you holding a piece of crap. Emerson, you have lost so many customers and will continue to lose customers. Everyone has the same issues. Obviously, these TVs should be recalled due to the power supply problems. I will never purchase an Emerson product again and will attempt to avoid Walmart altogether. When you buy a "No-Name" TV for 130 and stack a $120 repair on top of it, you could have afforded a "REAL" TV that would last longer than 6 months in the first place. I went from a 65-inch Toshiba that I buy a lamp every few months. I tried to save money any way I can so I got rid of it by buying a 32-inch LCD TV. As soon as I hooked it up, there was an HDMI problem. Now I am stuck with an HDTV using red, white and yellow wires. It's not fair to me. I am 25 years old. I am on SSI for a reason. I tried, by going green, I thought it was a good idea but now I don't trust Walmart or EMERSON TV. They won't even give me my money back or trade me for a different one. I recently sent a review about me having to send a TV back to this company and receive another one. Well, the replacement came last Thursday. The TV didn’t have one screw holding it together, and it looked like someone took the front of the screen and dragged it on the side walk. I called within 5 minutes of receiving the TV. I was told I would get a refund, but I had to send photos of the TV. I would hear from someone within 24 hours. Twenty-four hours came and went, so I called on Monday. I was told someone should contact me Tuesday or Wednesday. Okay, it’s Wednesday and I have talked to 6 people this morning and two supervisors, and I am getting the run around. I don’t know how someone can send out a TV that’s not put together for one.
I DON'T WANT ANOTHER TV. I WANT A FREAKING REFUND! Customer service and this company policy needs to be changed or make a better product and I wouldn’t be going through this. I'm so disappointed with the service I have received. I hope no one has to put up with this. I have been told so many lies and promises. Now, I’m waiting on shipping labels again for 24 hours. I also paid extra for a warranty and Walmart doesn't honor it until the manufacturer’s warranty expires in a year. This is ** if we have to pay to send to Emerson to fix it. The worst part about it is that I witnessed hundreds of people from Mexico and farm workers in AZ take advantage of this so-called Black Friday deals at Walmart, and their hard earned money has gone down the drain. I purchased an Emerson 32" TV from Walmart on Black Friday, 2012. It has played fine until last night, April 25, 2013. It turned off by itself and will not turn on. I called the toll free service number; however, they were of no assistance. I was informed the unit carries only a 90-day parts and labor warranty. I understand Walmart has purchased the right to manufacture Emerson TVs. The Walmart store refers me to the toll-free number for assistance. Needless to say, I will not purchase another Emerson TV nor will I purchase any electronic product from Walmart.

I have bought two Emerson LCD TVs from Wal-Mart and just yesterday, the second one stopped working, just like the first one did. Red light is on, but the TV will not turn on. To top it off, the HDMI was hooked up from the TV to the PS3. So whatever went wrong with the TV, it went into the HDMI cord and now the PlayStation will not play on HDMI. I even switched out the HDMI cords and nothing. I have done several things to see if it would work and still nothing. I called Emerson today and they said since my TV was a refurbished one bought from Wal-Mart (which I didn't know they sell refurbished TVs), then there is nothing they can do but charge me $110 to fix it.
I'm very upset not only being out the $220 for the TV and doing without a TV, but also that my PS3 will not play HDMI. It upsets me to know that a huge company that stands behind their name and products continue to sell items that have been returned for defective reasons over and over again. As I read on many reviews, many customers have the same complaint. The 32" LCD won't turn on. I will never buy anything Emerson again. I would give them the highest respect if they would just take care of their product issues that continue to happen and full replacement to customers.

I purchased the TV prior to moving due to the cost of the TV. Plus, it was such a great surprise to my kids that we would have a new TV. To make sure that the TV was going to be safe during the travel, I did not unpack it out of its original packing and put it in the back seat of my vehicle secured for travel. Once arrived and unpacked, I found that the TV would stay on for about an hour then automatically turn off. I thought it was the sleep timer that kicked in. I checked. It was not, so I changed cables and outlets and it continued. The most time the TV stayed on was for two hours without shutting down.
I called the cable company to see if it was the box I received since it was a new TV. The cable box ran fine; it was the TV. It appears that it gets heated up quickly and then the TV shuts down. Frustration... I called the company; since I did not have the receipt, no help or suggestions. I could not return it since we moved out of the purchase state of the TV. So I called a TV repair company. They stated that Emerson TVs are throwaway products and that the parts are just thrown together and are made to break down. Extremely disappointing. I've had the products before and had no problem. So I will call a friend to see if he can fix it; good thing he is a technician instructor. For the price, I am going to try to salvage it. I should not have to go through this, but it is how it is. Product that is not so good. Next time, I will probably get a different brand name.

We tried everything - switched power cords, check the outlets, plugged the TV into a different outlet, etc. The first three televisions Walmart exchanged for us, but then we were told they would not allow us to exchange another one. What!? Well by September, two more televisions had the same problem. We had to purchase new televisions, and they weren't even 6 months old! We were closed from November 1 to April 1. The second weekend we were open; we had another television do the same thing. Both Walmart and Emerson will not do anything about this problem! You cannot put this 39" LCD TV in an entertainment cabinet because the sound comes from underneath the TV aimed toward the rear of the set. There is no out source on this TV for recording of any kind. You can play into the set with a VCR of such, but no out source. The picture was good, but I had to purchase a powered amp to add to the sound so I could hear it from my entertainment cabinet. If you want a real and full functional TV, don't buy this one. My 19-year old son bought the family a 39” LCD TV as a Christmas gift that also came with a 3-year warranty. It cost him almost $400. Well, here it is, a little over 90 days and the darn thing is shot. I’m so upset with Wal-mart, who once again suckered us into buying a warranty, and for what? Nothing they can do for us. I called two different numbers and was told that it’s my fault that the TV made a popping sound and then fell over. The screen has a small scratch but it now does not get a picture. When it popped, it was my fault that I didn't bolt it to my $300 TV stand. Wow! I’m not running a hotel here. This is not my first go around with Wal-mart and their so-called warranties. I called Emerson and they said, "Do you have the receipt" and I told them I didn't as it was two years old and did not know where the receipt was if we had it. I was just assuming they would have some troubleshooting help.
The CSR said, "Take it to a repair shop and get it fixed." I asked what the problem could be and he said, "A plethora of things." I said, "Well, out of the plethora, what might some of them be?" The CSR was no help and I felt pushed off the phone. It was horrible customer service! Clearly, this is a defect and should be recalled. Let me also point out that we just bought a 60" Vizio on Black Friday 2012 and after 2 months, the screen went completely black. I have changed plugs to make sure it was not just the plug and the TV would not even turn on. I have just gotten off the phone with Emerson, and they are not willing to make good on this. At first I was told it would be $110.00 for a diagnostic test. I said in no uncertain terms was I paying $110.00 on top of the price of the TV (and in Canada Walmart charges $25.00/electronic device for an environmental fee).
$135.00 of extra charges on top of the cost of the TV made this device not a good deal at all. I told the customer service rep, and I use the term "customer service" very loosely, that I was not paying $110.00. Miraculously, the fee then became $70.00. I was told that this fee was payable immediately and I was to give him my credit card number over the phone. I was born on a day but not yesterday. I will not be giving my credit card over the phone to some faceless person working at the end of a 1-800 number.
So I am stuck with a 32-inch flat screen TV that is only good at this point as a paperweight. I purchased my TV on Black Friday 2011. This morning, the TV randomly turned on and none of the buttons will work! Even the remote won't work! It's stuck paused on some sort of demo video of a smiling man standing at the end of a white hallway. The speakers are messed up too. It sounds like another channel is bleeding over because I can hear faint voices coming from the speakers. Also, I think there's something wrong with the video settings because the picture of the man keeps getting bigger. And the most annoying part, I unplugged it and it won't turn off! Why does a TV even have a battery? How long will it take to die? What junk.

He went to turn the TV on and it would not turn on, no power whatsoever. He went to Walmart and they told him that there was nothing they could do. Bologna! They scanned the serial numbers and know when an item is sold. He didn't buy it on Black Friday either, so he spent like $400 on it. This is ridiculous that no one can do anything about this situation, especially when a product like this has only been used for 3 months or less. I don't think so. I am so upset that I could purchase a product and just need a fuse to fix it when they should have sent the box I asked for way back in June. It is now August and still no answer or box. Nothing, so I took the TV apart to see what the problem was and it's only a fuse, nothing more and they will not contact me and blocked my phone number because of me taking my own TV apart to see what's wrong.
