I have been using Starkey Halo 2 2400 for past one and half year, my pair has been replaced twice by the company due to technical fault as it was under warranty, no complaints about the quality of sound it offers. Again only few months back, as Mr ** from patiala has also discussed his review that receiver part broke. Same case happened with my device it detached where one part of receiver was inserted into the other, but the seller Simran Hearing Ludhiana said that company has charged Rs 3830 for repairing the product as it doesn’t cover under warranty though I told him it's not broken, it has detached from its own part. In the end I had to pay 3800 to get my unit repaired When starkey co knows that unit was not broken it was detached by itself why it charged for the service. I just want the explanation by the company, I also have bill of repair with me.

It's the little details that matter: my Starkey hearing aids actually stay in my ears. I don't have to constantly be vigilant. I had lost several sets of Phonak hearing aids -- they just fell out of my ears. In my opinion, sound is crisper with the Starkey product than with the Phonak hearing aids.

My very first RH unit was defective. Caused some communication issues with my audiologist. Have had them for 5 years, both units have been replace or repaired at least 5 times. I am told that they do not work well when used in the proscribed manner, ie behind the ear, well not when you sweat. Got impression they thought it was my fault that I sweat. Nice when they work but they are less than a quality product. Contacted Starkey and was told company does not address consumer issues, that I needed to go to the place I bought them. The place I bought them just shrugged and said sorry. When I asked for details of what was wrong and or what repairs was told this information not available. So to sum up $6,000 buys you units that might last a year if you are lucky. No concern for consumer, no attempt to address issues. I am looking for new hearings they will not be Starkey.

    Hi, Mr. Konar,

Thank you for sharing your experience with us. I’m sorry to read that your Behind-The-Ear devices needed to come in for repair over the past five years. We pride ourselves on the quality of our products and repair service. We recommend a hearing device have a clear and check by a licensed professional every 3-5 months to help minimize the need for regular repair. If your hearing professional wasn’t offering this service, we are happy to help find a professional in your area that will be up to the challenge to make sure you are hearing your best.

A hearing aid is one of the few consumer devices that works 16-hour days every day in all kinds of weather. Moisture is hard on zinc-air batteries. There are some accessories that help dry out hearing aids at the end of the day, such as dry-aid kits – did your audiologist offer one to you? The best way to reduce the number of issues related to sweating is by using dry-aid kits and cleaning the batteries.

Please take care and be well.

    Sincerely,

Starkey Hearing Aids were my third set of aids and an upgrade to what I originally purchased several years before. Looking back, it is disappointing to me that I have never even met the audiologist at the clinic where I purchased my Starkey aids. A tech did the testing, fitting, and troubleshooting. While the tech was very congenial and making every attempt to improve the performance of my aids and phone app, the hearing aids have never come close to meeting my needs. The one aspect that has been effective is phone use, but even one on one conversation continues to be challenging and I am isolated in small group gatherings.

It is also disappointing that there is not more support available online. An audiologist outside of Houston has been very helpful and returned my aids to the production site on two occasions for revamping. Some improvement was noted, but it was not significant enough to improve communication. Something that has been frustrating, is that the app that is accessed on my Iphone, periodically changes without notice making it less than user friendly. I am currently considering reinvesting in new aids that provide a trial period before making a final purchase - something Starkey did not provide at the time of my original purchase.

My mom who is 85 applied for your hearing aid program. She was denied as not qualifying due to income. Her income was way below the requirements; however, I sent her money for the Starkey Foundation Application fee and they count that as income. They counted her selling off her clothes as income on eBay even though she is selling at a loss just to eat. She was diagnosed with cancer and wanted just to hear in her final years. What a disgrace. I am disabled and wish I could find her and pay for hearing aids from a company that truly cares. This company does not. I posted my message on Facebook and they never responded. In fact, they hid the comments and then removed my ability to post on facebook. A company like this is not one that people should want to do business with. The Foundation is part of the company.

We can understand your disappointment with the decision not to provide your mother with hearing aids at no charge. The Hear Now Foundation is a wonderful organization that is flooded with requests from all over the country. If you feel your mother’s evaluation was not fair, we encourage you to discuss it with a representative so you can have a clear understanding of their definition of financial qualification. In the meantime, there are some other options to consider that may help fund this need such as: The Lion’s Club, places of worship, and the Sertoma Club. Have had my Audibel hearing aids now for about 5 years. The first provider gave poor service and never schooled me on care of the products nor how it worked. Never could get them adjusted correctly. Since I moved, found a new audiologist who has the computer program to adjust my hearing aids and provides better service and instruction. But each visit is a cost. Still the hearing aids are only good in direct conversation with one or two people. Background noise in a crowd or at a family gathering drowns out conversation. I still have to use a family member as interpreter. At home I have to take the hearing aids out to listen to tv. Sound is very distorted with them on. Have another appt with audiologist soon, but don't expect much. May have to find another brand of aid. These I have cost me $7200, and I feel they never met my expectations and were a poor investment.

I have been using my Starkey hearing aids for a month now and I feel that I should have gotten them earlier. I didn't realize how much speech I was missing until I started wearing these hearing aids. My previous hearing aids did not help me as much. These help me hear speech much clearer and are reducing background noise as well. I was afraid that these hearing aids would have the same issues and would be uncomfortable to wear, but I have to say I forget sometimes that I'm wearing them. That's how natural they feel and sound. And they cannot be seen by others. I recommend these hearing aids because they feel very natural, are not visible to others and they are rechargeable unlike my previous hearing aids. Big thanks to Earaid hearing centre.

When I first got my hearing aids in July of 2018 the right aid felt like it was touching my ear drum. The 'salesman' filed it with an emery board and ruined the casing. Can you imagine--an emery board meant for finger nails? Scratched it up the side exposing the 'air tube.' It was sharp and scratched my ear canal. He twice filed some more making it too short to stay in my ear. Said he'd send it in. In 3 weeks I got a soft, rubbery ear piece that's horrible. There's a constant whoosing sound. I put it in only when I have my grandchildren and the battery last from 1 to 3 days. The left aide has a chip. He filed that too.

It still has a sharp edge. Nothing has helped me ear with any satisfaction. The right aide only amplifies sound, I need to use a hearing device to hear TV. I cannot afford another dollar for different hearing aides. I'm totally dissatisfied with these and wish there was something-anything to get a full refund as these were awful from day 1. I know that's not going to happen but I would NEVER give Starkey a positive review.

My problem was that I had other hearing aids that suited my needs better. These are my third set of aids. My first set had no problems but were big and bulky. My second were great for four years then corrosion. Replaced by Starkey Muse IQ 1200 which I had my ears cleaned and checked. No wax. Did the test on my ears. Had them adjusted to suit the graphs. One would think this was perfect. Not so. My adjustments went on and on. So I then made a appointment at another Starkey service to see how great these hearing aids were. To my surprise they were as good as anyone could adjust to perfect. My conclusion is that Starkey does not suit all. My other aids were much clearer with no muffle or distortion.

I was so excited to get my new Starkey hearing aids that would transmit my mobile phone calls directly to my hearing aids, and that I could adjust to my surroundings easily with my mobile phone app. A little over a year later, they are a daily nuisance. Only the right hearing aid picks up the phone sound, I have to do a hard shut down on my phone to restore the setting. When I want to adjust to accommodate different settings (normal/crowd/car, etc) my phone app can't find my left hearing aid until I do a hard shut down then restart. This is a daily annoyance! I have deleted and reinstalled the app several times. My audiologist sent the hearing aids back to the factory for readjustment or whatever they claim to do, and I received them yesterday. Today, I am exactly where I was before. Think long and hard before you shell out thousands of dollars for this brand.

These hearing aids were chosen for me by the specialist at The Hearing Center in Rogers, AR. My hearing problem is not so much with volume but with clarity. Before hearing tests, I was missing too much of the conversations at family gatherings and the movies, and hearing weird things on my favorite TV shows. Shortly after I started wearing them, I realized how many sounds I forgot belonged to certain activities. Like the sound of water filling a glass and chicken or fish frying.

What really capped it for me was watching a movie for the second time (with hearing aids) and realizing how much of the dialogue I had missed the first time, especially how one character had responded to a sound which I hadn't heard. That explained a part of the story, which had earlier confused me. When I was in the supermarket, I was startled when the refrigeration in the frozen food aisle turned on. Also I was very pleased that I could turn to the app on my cell phone and change the setting to block out the screams of some misbehaving children. In a crowded restaurant that app enabled me to participate fully in the conversation with four of my family members. (I gave this product only four stars, because wearing the hearing aids is still not second nature to me and sometimes becomes bothersome to the skin of my ears. When that changes, I will change that rating.) A great investment toward being all that I am.

Testing the Starkey AI 2400 with a cross system. I am deaf, only 50%. My right ear does not function. I was born this way. I learned to live with it. But now, after 40 years I got myself a cross system. This sends the sound from my deaf ear to the good one. I never realised I missed so much sound... I hear a lot better now! I may test this device before buying, but after only 2days of use I am convinced that I will buy!

Only minor I have the the connectivity towards Android. I used my phone as mp3 player when walking around. I read streaming music would be possible to the hearings aids, but it seems very hard. I am using an Samsung S8. It connects easily to the Starkey, but playing music through bluetooth is not possible, unless I buy an extra microphone. Seems not that handy carrying an extra item just to listen to music when moving around. An android app that allows you to play music without extras is something we need. The iPhone seems to work well, just android users are left out. Also the live translation sounds awesome and I would have much use of it, but it doesn't work on my android. Hope to see this fixed.

I've been using them for six months. I'm delighted to hear conversations clearly, stream music from my Android phone into my ears, and stream movie sound tracks directly into my ears in stereo. One quibble (I'll have to make an appt with my audiologist to see if it can be resolved, since I find nothing online or in the manual to help): This type of hearing aid perches atop my ear. A short length of clear plastic (perhaps called the "retention lock"?) goes from it into what I think is called the "concha" of the external ear.

I take my glasses off and put them on again many times per day, always careful to make sure the hearing aids are in place. But recently, I keep finding the left hearing aid dangling from my ear! I worry that it might fall out, unnoticed, onto the street, into the garden, into a toilet... Perhaps the cable (which connects the aid to the receiver) is the problem--it's bent sharply where it touches the external auditory canal. Or has the plastic retention lock has become deformed a bit? I hope to get an appt this week and perhaps this problem will be resolved. So there are three parts to this review. 1) I love my hearing aids; 2) one keeps trying to fall out; and 3) be sure to find an experienced and caring audiologist who will answer all your questions.

Feedback can be hard to troubleshoot. Feedback is caused by sounds that leave your ear and find their way back into the microphone. From there, the sound is re-amplified which causes that annoying whistle. There are a couple of ways to solve this without seeing your Audiologist. However, if you wish to have a solution moving forward you will need to address it with your Hearing Health Professional. The easiest way to address feedback is to lower the volume. Another alternative is to create a customize memory with lower high frequencies. I recommend doing the customize memory using the Thrive Hearing Control for memory while using pillows.

Your Audiologist might look at occluding the ear coupling or adding a custom earmold. They can also look at the memory for napping and lowering high-frequencies.

I’m not sure why you would see fewer controls for your Livio 2400 then you had with your Halo iQ i2400. I’m going to take a guess and say you are looking at the Native Controls and you have ‘adjust independently’ is turned off. If this is the case, you would have the memories combined for the right and left sides. If you wish to turn that back on, navigate to the Setting icon on your iPhone>Accessibility>Hearing Devices. Tap on connected and toggle on that setting.

Please let us know if this information has been helpful, and if I was right in my assumption.

The Wi i110 and the Muse product are great hearing devices. They are moisture-proof, not waterproof. The IP rating is one of the best in the industry, but I know this is of little comfort if you are experiencing problems. Your description of the problems leads me to believe there are two things occurring. The wax filter called Hear Clear needs to be replaced more frequently. The other issue with being able to hear the person across the table, but the background noise is manageable, is directly related to the programming of the devices. Your Hearing Health Professional can adjust the compression to a more linear version in one of your memories to help with your understanding. This is an oversimplification of the solution. We do not know your hearing loss and we are making some assumptions. It is important that your hearing devices are serviced by your Hearing Professional every 3 months in cases where moisture and debris is an issue. Please consult with your Audiologist and we do have staff ready to assist your Audiologist with any programming questions.

I've been in this business for 35 years, and I've always loved Starkey. They're innovative. I have a lot of connections with them, and they will always bend over backwards to help you do the best fit. And if your hearing aid is just barely out of warranty and something goes wrong with it, a lot of times, they'll do a courtesy repair, and other companies don't do that. I'm an audiologist, so I fit hearing aids, and I recommend Starkey to my patients all the time. They are a leader in the industry. And right now, with the Livio product and with the AI intelligence, they are moving forward into the 21st century.

Mr. Austin has always had a vision, and he came out with the first CIC, and that was a major boom to our industry because everybody wants the hearing aids not to show. And with this artificial intelligence that he's doing in making it healthable besides just helping you with your hearing is a big, big thing for the industry. He goes all over the world fitting people who can't afford hearing aids, and a little bit of every hearing aid that he sold goes to promote that program, and I have participated in that. It is just a wonderful thing to be able to give people the gift of hearing. They couldn't afford it and wouldn't have it any other way. He runs a program that if you can't afford the hearing aid, if you meet the qualifications, you fill out the application, and you get brand new hearing aids for $125 each. So for $250, you can get top-line technology if you qualify for this program, and lots of companies do that.

Their newest product have helped in making speech more intelligible particularly in background noise and have been rated very high in those situations. So I like that feature and how they help the person hear better. I have good relationships with all of my representatives. They're very helpful, and they'll bend over backwards and go that extra mile for you. They're a great company.

I have been back to have them adjusted several times and have yet to get them so that they help me understand speech both in person and on the television. I can hear all kinds of background noises as in the air conditioner running or the dishwasher running very loudly but I cannot understand human speech the number one reason that I purchased Hearing Aids.

When I turn them up hoping that will help it just seems to make everyone sound like they have an annoying lisp. And I still have to ask people to repeat themselves. It is very frustrating and I avoid social situations because of it. For the five thousand dollars that I spent the only positive thing that I can say is that I no longer speak as loudly as I used to. They’ve also had to be sent out twice in the last two years for repairs and my warranty is about to expire. I still can’t watch television with my wife. I can’t watch television if anyone else is home because I play it too loudly and I can’t go anywhere and communicate where there is a group of people. Updated on 11/16/2019: Indeed, I expected more due to what the Audiologist told me about them. I am at the "annoyance level" with the TV streamer because it cuts off if I go to the next room; the range is actually +/- 15 feet. What made my Starkey experience better was the "Remote Microphone". I can now use it as a directional mike in a group setting, and I can hear sermons better. Whatever the underlying problem may be, be it with an overzealous sales agent, the understanding of my audiologist, or my dumbness, I hear better, and function better with the new Starkeys than I did with my Phonak. The issue with the limited range of the TV streamer, and the fact that I had to get another device to solve the issues are the reasons that I could not give it a 5 star rating, and the quality of the units prevent me from giving a 3 star rating.

Original Review: I am a vet, and I got my Livios from the Canadaguia NY VA. The audiologist said that these were the latest in technology, and that the THRIVE app would be great. It was mediocre, at best. I could not hear using the TV streaming device properly, so I had to take it back to the VA. For a while, the pairing lasted a long time, and now, regardless of where I am in my home even sitting in front, watching Netflix, it cuts out about 45 minutes of use. If I am listening to music and doing house cleaning, etc on the second floor, I have to go downstairs, and reset the darn thing. I contacted their service department, and the guy I spoke to said, "I never heard of that happening." and advised me to go back to the VA and return it to Starkey. I will.

HOWEVER the most annoying thing is the fact that the device ONLY pairs with Apple's I phones, and not Android phones. And of course, it is not mentioned in the booklet for Thrive, or the hearing aid. THAT IS A MAJOR OMISSION, and perhaps it may be considered lying or deception because the sales reps "accidentally forget" to state that to the prescribing Audiologists. Far from being the "newest technology" such as was told to me (probably repeated from what the sales rep stated to the Audiologist), I found the technology severely lacking in both the Thrive app, and in the fact that I could not pair my Samsung mobile phone to it.

My pet peeve was that I had a very nasty phone call from someone unpleasant. This person was out of control, and yelling. Because I needed to use the speaker function to hear properly, that unpleasant person shared her dysfunction with everyone else in the room. It was quite embarrassing. And to think it was caused because the software engineers did not include anything with which to pair an Android phone. Far from being "state of the art" I found the experience no better than my 5 years-old Phonak hearing aids.

I’m sorry for your frustration. The TV Streamer isn’t designed to stream through the entire home. You can pair your Livio devices to the Bluetooth of some Android phones and use the Thrive Hearing Control as a remote control. If you have the latest firmware, and a Google Pixel 3 or 4 phones, you can even stream phone calls. I believe this is a case of high expectations. If you wish to stream music everywhere you go while clearing, then stream from the phone. If you don’t have a phone that can stream, get one of the accessories for the phone. If you wish to stream music from the TV without interruption, make sure your phone isn’t connected to the hearing devices. Just toggle off the Bluetooth. I would hope you are hearing better than later.

Updated on 09/05/2019: It's now 9/5/19 and I just received my repaired unit. No replacement this time. Starkey says the microphones were replaced. That means the mics lasted little more than 3 months. WARRANTY NOT EXTENDED despite this being the 3rd unit in 26 months. This hearing aid does not live in a hostile environment, 90 percent of the time it's in a temp/humidity controlled residence. Volume is usually set to low. Very disappointing experience overall.

Original Review: Purchased a Z I30 in 7/17. Unit was troublesome from month 1, finally totally failed in 3/19. Provider Hearing Care Solutions provided a replacement under warranty in 4/19. That unit has now failed within 3 months with the same symptoms as the original unit and has been sent in for another replacement. Replacement units do extend the original 36 month warranty BUT SHOULD since these units have a failure rate off the charts. Have had hearing loss for 20 years and this is my third set of aids in that time span. Never had less than 5 years of trouble free use with previous purchases. Can't even get 2 years from the Starkey.

Hi, you sound upset about the warranty not being extended. Can you let us know if this was a request that the Audiologist asked of the Customer Service Rep? Hearing Devices are unique products. They are asked to work 16 hours a day every day in all kinds of environments. Debris is the enemy of hearing aid microphones and receivers. It would be great if hearing aids could have a bath every day. We are continuously looking at improvements to the system. If you feel you deserve an extension to the warrant, please communicate this to your Hearing Health Professional.

I purchased Nuear hearing aids for $6,500. After multiple adjustments by my hearing professional, I am still very limited in my ability to hear. I am unable to do business over the phone and still have difficulty hearing others. As a teacher, it is a real struggle to converse with my students. They have to repeat themselves and speak a few inches from my ear. Trying to hear with these aids has been such a struggle. It's straining, stressful and exhausting. As a result, I find myself at home alone much of the time. That is very depressing. Now I'm stuck with a $6,500 debt for a product that is largely useless to me.

My hearing loss is mild and most limited to high frequency sounds which is normal in elderly people. In the 6 months that I've had these aids the only problem I encountered was when I took them off the charger for 4 weeks, per the instructions. When I returned, one aid would not charge. Many of the problems I read about are most likely the result of faulty calibration by the audiologist. Any hearing aid is only as good as the person setting the tonal frequencies and patterns. This may require several visits. But when it's right, it's good.

My husband has had these hearing aids since April 18, 2019. They have been nothing but trouble from day one. I should have known to walk away when we were pressured to make the decision before walking out the door or lose the promotion that was being offered. I was looking forward to not being so frustrated when it came to communicating with my husband. Instead the frustration has skyrocketed. It appears he hears me less and the pronunciation is not as clear to him. I can be sitting in a different room and hear the feedback he is experiencing with his hearing aids.

We also purchased a new iPhone for his hearing aids to work with since it was cheaper and had more features than the app would for his android phone. I have watched him try to adjust his hearing aids as they cut out, turn off, crackle and cause feedback. As we stood in front of the microwave he had no clue the timer on the microwave was sounding. Even after several trips to the audiologist we are no further ahead than day one. 30 day return policy is not enough time when you have this much trouble with the product. I would never recommend this product or company to anyone.

About 6 months later, one of my husband’s quit working, & it was returned to the Starkey factory for repair. Starkey would not return it, saying that was the one they sent a replacement for. It absolutely was NOT! What a mess we had. Our retailer agreed, saying Starkey had a record of issuing us 6 serial numbers initially. They also made some errors, but said Starkey refused to listen or make it right. The vendor's solution was to give my husband a pair of Signia demos. Wow! How can we trust Starkey again? They still have a hearing aid that belongs to my husband.

I purchased Starkey In Canal Hearing Aids from an ENT in Lake Mary, Florida. I selected them because I have rather small ear canals and Starkey molds their products for a nice fit. The pair worked great for about a month or so. Then I accidentally got one wet and it had to be repaired (this is when I learned that I had to spend $30 to have quick return). It came back and worked fine for about another month or so. Then the problems began. First, the sound fluctuated. I returned to the ENT and adjustments were made. A few weeks later, the left hearing aid lost volume and it was sent for repair. This repair lasted about a month or so and back it went for more repairs.

After several more repairs, I realized that it seemed that my hearing was getting worse so I took the pair back to the ENT's office for a volume adjustment. After testing them, the audiologist discovered that NEITHER were working!!! Having been through all the problems and repairs with me, she decided not to return mine but rather to request a new pair from Starkey since she realized that mine were nonfunctioning. So, excitedly, I waited for the new pair. I got them about a month ago and they worked great. However, last night the left one stopped working. Unfortunately, I am going to be stuck with this product until I find one that I can deal with.

As far as I am concerned, Starkey should change their company name to "Sanitation" Hearing Aids since they manufacture TRASH. Having now had 2 pairs of Starkey hearing aids, I fully understand why Starkey gives you 45 days to try them since 45 days is about all they work until they need repairs! So, I spent $3,600 for a pair of Starkey hearing aids and I feel I would have gotten more for my money had I flushed it down the toilet!

I have a pair of Starkey Livio 2400 hearing aids. I was fitted for them at their Eden Prairie, MN facility about 5 months ago. I'd like to summarize my experience with them in case it helps anyone. About me: 60 years old. Tinnitus in addition to my hearing loss. Tired of not being able to follow conversations. I am audiophile who also records music. We are in a new house and just built a fully outfitted recording studio in our basement, and last year put in a high end, whole-house (and patio) sound system. New media room has reference level 7.2 system. Sound quality is -extremely- important to me. Also, my wife has a voice which is on the quiet side.

Pros: The most natural sound I have ever heard in a hearing aid. Selectable modes to screen out background noise, a forward biased mode for restaurant conversation and more. If the devices detect that you are moving faster than 10 MPH it can go into an automobile mode. IPhone connection... I hear my 'Waze' map giving me directions while driving. I can listen to podcasts, music, or take a phone call and only I can hear the audio.

Thrive App. Some of the most ingenious programming code has gone into this app. For example, the hearing aids can actually translate foreign languages and play the translations in my ears! They have "Fitbit" physical health information available, the number of steps I have taken for example. And also 'mental' health info such as a verbal engagement score. Cons: Batteries cost $ and only last a week. They are spendy hearing aids. But like my wife said, if I could hear her and others better, and with high sound quality, they are worth every penny. I have to say that I am still sometimes amazed when I am wearing these. Makes me feel like a new man.

It took me 2 YEARS and 3 DIFFERENT audiologists to get Starkey to make a shallow set of their SoundLens aids. My first Right-side aid was accidentally made as a Left side instead of an opposite hand mirror to the Left - it hurt like being stabbed in the inner ear when first inserted. I was a 34 year old man and nearly cried in the doctor’s office from the pain. When I pointed this out to my doctor, she said I don't know what I’m talking about and had it remade SMALLER.

At no point did any of these trained professionals stop to see that the Right aid was made a Left. It took me 3 remakes (once every 2 weeks with shipping) for them to admit the mistake and remake. 50 such episodes followed (At one doctor, when I explained that one of the aid's speakers was snapping like a speaker turning on every few minutes, I was told I was imagining it).

I was Yes'd to death as if this organization understood my impossibly simple request, that the aids are deeper in the canal (smaller) so as not to cause excruciating pain against my tragus. So called special-visit staff met with me to spin the usual nonsense, "is that really what happened? we promise we understand this time". Their notes never made it to the guy in the lab making $10 an hour making shells. No one in the universe would believe how many times in a row this happened - I wouldn't believe my own memory if I didn't have a trail of emails and pictures. Instead, with 90% of the remakes, after agreeing in writing that they understand the amazingly simple request, they made the aids slimmer. Causing feedback and improper fit.

When I finally got one well fitting Left aid and one loose fitting Right aid I decided to coat with polish myself, I purchased my own programmer in order to not suffer the asinine process of booking an appointment to slightly tune the aids. What followed was both of the hearing aids breaking down into a permanent hiss, or random speaker snaps, every month or so, requiring a trip to the doctor so the DOCTOR can put the stupid things in the mail for me to Starkey.

50% of the returned aids had the original problem and needed to be returned again. I have absolutely no comprehension of how older people deal with this inane, completely convoluted process and blatant theft of $8000 for two sound repeaters that will cost $100 from third party makers in the next 10 years. The so called Audiologists that provide patients with these aids are nothing but glorified salespeople that know less about the hearing aids, programmer, and software than I do now, after 2 years of use.

For people who say they are getting popping and straight it is because they are not adjusted right or the mold is not fitting right. You need to go to a good provider who will work with you until they are right. You have to make sure you have a good fit. If so then no popping or straight. Also you need a good provider to make sure they are adjusted right. If someone is having trouble with them than they need to keep going back until it is corrected.

My wife thinks they help, she says I understand what she is saying more often than I did before. At times the sound coming out of them reminds me of when I was a kid back in the late 40's or early 50's when we built crystal or razor blade radios so we could listen to the local radio station. On June 27, 2018 I went to Instituto Audiologico Audiotech, S.A. de C.V. en Avenida Carpinteros Sur 2099, at the corner with Blvd. Justo Sierra, Colonia Burócrata en Mexicali, Baja California en México. The technician told me that the price for the hearing aid I needed was $21,600 pesos; but, my special price would be 50% less, i.e., $10,800 pesos (about $620 USD). The technician calibrated the device which was a Starkey model 3, series RIC, sand color, for right ear, serial number 1450001256/180769830, with receptor - 3 series Ric 50 #4 d.A.G.

All of the sudden the technician extended the bill for $10,800 pesos. When I put the device the technician kept asking "Is it true that you are hearing better?" The best test he conducted was to get out of the facilities and once on the walk aside the traffic on the boulevard Justo Sierra, the technician said that I was listening better, when he was standing 3 feet away from me.

In no visible place at the facilities of this distributor was established that there were no returns accepted. Next day I went back to tell the technician that I was not hearing better, but he refused to listen to me, and said that the next appointment for revision was for July 18, 2018. The device did not work on the 28th, 29th, 30th of June, nor the 1st and 2nd of July. So, I went back to the facilities of the vendor Audiotech to return the device and get my money back; he told me then that returns were not accepted.

While I was putting the pressure on the technician to accept the return and give to me my money, another technician took the device and went to the back of facilities and came back saying that she had recalibrated the device. Even the device was in my hand everyone could hear a buzzing sound, so you can imagine how would be that sound once you put the device in your ear.

I had to go the PROFECO, authority for complaints in Mexico, and after two citations with the legal representative for Audiotech in Mexico, they accepted to give me back 85% of the $10,800 pesos ($620 USD), which I received in two payments, one on August the 30th and the second on September 17th, 2018. I ended paying $1,620 pesos (92.60 USD) and the time for two audiences with lawyers, getting 85% of my payment. I write the present as a warning to any people in México or abroad to avoid the fraud from any distributor of Starkey hearing aid products. P.S. I have documents on the information given in this written.

I have sent my hearing aids back several times in the 3 years since I purchased them. They start buzzing extremely high and just quit. The left has no hearing but I can tap on it and hear the tapping in my right ear. Weird. Also I can turn the sound down in the nonhearing left ear. The right ear has sound but can’t touch the volume control to change the hearing volume. If I start to sweat wearing the aids they quit. Guys I live in the south and you can sweat by just standing still. I spent thousands for them and looks like I’m going to be screwed again to have them repair again. Every time I send them they are never corrected probably. The sound has always been distorted. They have been a nightmare.

Spent over 6k for these top of the line Starkey IIC Hearing Aids and have had nothing but issues since day 1. It's been 1 year. Each one had to be sent back at least 5-6 times to get the fit correct, and that takes 2 weeks round trip each time. Had to have antennas removed to make fit comfortable, which in essence cut the options and functionality down. I have to go back to Audiologist for any type of sound adjustments. Normally you would be able to use an App. But they just could not get the fit right so I relented. The fit got better.

Both sides have stopped working numerous times and have had to be sent out and repaired. Just got back the left side 2 weeks and now it stopped working again. I put both in the drying jar every night, clean them as shown, every night. I am very careful with them. Now the right one is getting static on high sounds and when speaking slightly louder, now sounds like a cheap am radio speaker. This was sent back a few months ago for same issue, but now it's the only one working and I need it until the left one is fixed. I work in an office environment, so I obviously need these to perform as advertised. I'm an IT professional and have read all the docs on these, and these are definitely not living up to the hype. I'm a little pissed to say the least and am about to demand my money back, this is ridiculous.

Heard a lot about this hearing aid and company representative visited. It's my feeling that their aim is to sell the machine only. Major drawback: 1. They never tell you that it's highly sensitive to ear wax. It has a very small hole and that fills up with wax and it stop working. They take it granted that at the age of 80 years there is no wax at all. 2. The battery hardly works for 3-4 days. Company rep informed 15 days. Current situation is that you need to change the battery every third day, else it's again dead. 3. Company must tell these things clearly but their aim is to sell the machine irrespective of it's useful or not. At the age of 80 years, this is not the right product and one must see its pros and cons from users and not rely upon the company representative whose aim is to sell only. In my case its just waste of money.

I am legally deaf in the high frequencies. In 7/2017, after being informed that my insurance would cover a new set of hearing aids, I asked if the technology had improved since I got my first aids 3 or so years ago. I was told yes. I replaced my over the ear Starkey aids with the "in the canal" aids. First problem: Ears get plugged up due to vacuum created when car door shuts. They made adjustments, but I still occasionally have that problem in the car, or not in the car. Second Problem: Setting #2 is for Crowds. I can't hear a person 3 feet away from me in a crowded, loud room. So I told my husband I have to avoid crowds.

Third Problem: I noticed I could not hear the beep of a carbon monoxide alarm in our micro mini RV. I informed the audiologist about this today and he told me to bring in an alarm to test and adjust! Can't he create the sound in the office and make adjustments? Fourth Problem: I still remove the hearing aids when talking on the phone and I avoid speaking on my mobile phone. I get by using the landline and using the speakerphone. When on the phone or anywhere I still tell people I am hearing impaired and to slow down and speak up. So much for improved hearing! The only plus is I can hear the TV better. Anyone with high frequency hearing loss beware of the hype about how good the hearing aids will be. I have lots of hearing aid batteries and am a scuba diver. Once my diving days are over I plan to get cochlear implants.

I first started wearing hearing aids 6 years ago at 47. I started with Phonak absolutely no complaints. I upgraded to Starkey Z series, nice great phone options as far as having a built in mic on the hearing aid, downside was the power consumption, it needed a car battery to keep it operational. I now use the Halo 2. It's ok at best, the streaming from the phone is nice, to use the phone One must use the mic on phone while the caller is streamed to your ear. The Halo does not like heat, on hot summer days it will go into suppression making hearing impossible.

Starkey boasts over what they call mfi or made for iPhone, what is offered isn’t really all that different than what other mfg offer. It’s an app that connects your hearing aids to your phone and controls settings, volume etc. for it being an mfi instrument it really doesn’t do much, it does even less with the Apple Watch. Starkey isn’t terribly bad, but I don’t see them as the best, shop around investigate and ask questions. The best is only a perception like Ford or Chevy.

I'm an experienced acoustician, so my comments will be "techie". Becoming a senior citizen and then some, the need finally arose in 2015 for hearing aids, chiefly because my understanding rapid repartee in conferences and meetings became harder than ever. The Starkey RIC seemed to do the job with two disappointments:

1- The round black rubber 5mm diameter ear canal leafs were very irritating to my ear canal openings. These openings are flat-ovals and NOT round like the silicone leafs. Closing my jaw narrows the openings further to only be only one mm (left) or two mm (right). At best, these leafs rested with force within that flat oval (right) or across that flat oval (left) entering only via pain. This led to requiring a day or two of rest between wearings. More recently the 5mm leafs were replaced with softer gray clear 3mm silicone leafs that can be worn more often. The left leaf can penetrate the oval with little pain, but often comes out to rest across the oval opening. This remains to be a problem.

2- I queried at the outset whether ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) was yet implemented in these hearing aids, as I know scientifically this is feasible, and will be in hearing aids soon in this 21st Century. That is, for we Elders, along with the loss of high-frequency acuity with age (presbycusis) there is also a reduction in dynamic range (recruitment) where quiet sounds are inaudible while very loud sounds are painful and harmful (i.e. a loss of dynamic range).

Consequently, low frequency sound presented to our ear will be painful and distorting in many social and work environments (loud cocktail parties, bars, concerts and sporting events) often where speech sound amplification is wanted and applied, with the result that speech perception is achieved only when accompanied with painful loud mid-frequency piercing sounds; totally uninvited. The solution is to introduce canceling low-frequency sound to eliminate its nuisance presence, while allowing or amplifying the critical speech sounds in the higher frequency ranges where most of the speech discrimination occurs. An R&D program yet to be executed; but I patiently wait for it to mature.

I got my first Starkey hearing Aids 4 years ago from the VA (3 series |110 mini BTE). They were great. I was so happy with them. At two years one side stopped working. The VA had it repaired. Still had problems with using the cell phone and the TV was better but not perfect. At 4 years I noticed the I had to turn them up a lot and the cell phone and TV were getting worse, so I went back to the VA with the issues thinking that they would reprogram them for me or hoping that they might give me the ones that link to the cell phone. They confirmed that my hearing had changed some, didn't like hearing that. And they said that they were giving me new ones (MUSE RIC) and the Surflink for the cell phone and TV. I was at that time happy the hear that. Well when I got them I was even happier yet as they were even better than my old ones which worked great.

The surflink is fantastic, I hear the cell phone perfectly plus I don't need to hold it to my eye and just leave it in my pocket. I don't feel them in my ears and they aren't seen, no one notices that I have them unless I point it out. I have accidentally worn them into the shower (not for long) and I have been in the rain with many times and NO problem at all. I don't understand the reviews as to water problems. As to the reviews that they didn't work right I am sure their problem is the place that they had them programmed and NOT the hearing aid, they should try going to a different place to get them adjusted. I was always worried about losing my old ones so only used them when I had to, they could be knocked off and the VA told me that they would only replace lost ones once. The new RIC ones I wear all the time as if it is knocked off of my ear it will hang from the part that is in my ear canal.

It takes a little time to get use to hearing sounds that you haven't been hearing correctly for years, but once you do it is great. But to be able to understand people and women and cell phones and the TV is just great. I also wonder if some people aren't keeping theirs clean and free of wax as in the case of one review that said that they didn't work. Anyone that even has a small hearing loss should get a pair of these, I wish that I had gotten mine many years earlier. I really love my hearing aids. I didn't know that I could get these and glasses and medical care from the VA until someone had told me about it. I'm a Vietnam veteran that has been suffering from the effects of being sent to Vietnam.

They don't really improve my hearing in conversations but I get all kinds of click clack noises. I had my hearing rechecked and the hearing aids were deemed correct. The biggest issue is the part that goes in my ear. For some reason it is a BLACK plastic and I think I am allergic to it. After wearing the hearing aids for several hours my ear canals become itchy, red, and scaly. The little wire tail pops out of my ear and won't stay put. This is a very poor design and I see that Starkey has changed this part, but I was told I would have to buy a whole new pair of hearing aids to get the new little earbud. So, the hearing aids just got thrown in a drawer and I don't wear them. Wasted money, wasted effort, wasted time!

My son has worn hearing aids since age 3 so I am quite knowledgeable in the area of what to expect, features, etc. When recently diagnosed with a medical induced hearing loss, I first researched a provider that was a board certified audiologist and that offered the top known and well recognized brands. You also want to select a provider that is well versed in the brands offered so that they are very familiar with how to properly adjust your new hearing aids for your particular hearing loss.

For over 30 years I have been very familiar and pleased for my son with ReSound and Phonak hearing aids. I read some research on Starkey and the Halo 2 (top of the line) seemed to offer the same features as the latest Phonak. Against my better judgment and experience, I let the audiologist guide me toward Starkey. It was the brand that she knew best and apparently the one recommended to most clients. She indicated she has some familiarity with Phonak.

I purchased the Halo 2 three one-half months ago and have been back and forth so many times it is frustrating. One of the primary advertising points of the Halo 2 is that they are designed for iPhone for streaming of music, phone, etc. directly into the hearing aids. Phonak offers same features. However, when I stream my phone calls directly into my hearing aids, I have a constant clicking in both aids. The hearing aids were shipped back to the factory once, and returned that nothing was wrong. I borrowed a pair of loaners during that time and had no issues during the loan period.

I am now being told that the clicking is due to the type of technology that iPhone uses for streaming and that there is nothing that can be done to avoid the clicking and that all hearing aids will do the same unless you use a separate streaming device. I purchased a new iPhone solely based on the streaming advertised feature. The sound in my hearing aids is clear but I still have difficulty understanding individuals even in quiet environments. Since it appears I am stuck with the hearing aids at a cost of $6000 I will have to keep them but I would definitely not recommend them.

There is a "getting to know you" period when they're new, and that is what I'm doing now. You lose your hearing over a period of years, not noticing until your family starts saying, "Mom, you need to get your ears tested," but when you get hearing aids, it's a sudden change and can be a little disconcerting. I can hear my cat chewing his kibble from across the room! The hearing practice I went to was American Hearing Care in St. Augustine, FL. They couldn't have been better. The hearing test was thorough and everything was discussed afterwards. I chose the second to highest level model and it was around $5,000, but had everything I needed. The devices are tiny, and invisible and come with a 2-year warranty which includes damage and loss. I highly recommend these hearing aids.

THE WORST HEARING AIDS EVER! 2 1/2 years ago, I purchased very expensive Starkey Hearing Aids with all the bells and whistles. Recently, I had them replaced under warranty. Both, the original set and the replacements are equally bad. Whenever my audiologist tries to adjust the volume, the sound becomes sharp and harsh, and the hearing aid gives off a sound from at least 6 inches away from the ear. So, he adjusts the volume down with the result that I cannot hear people a few feet away! And forget giving someone a hug without triggering a squealing sound! Previous to these hearing aids, I used Phonak hearing aids. The sound is close to normal hearing and without all the noise on the side. If you need hearing aids, make sure you use them on a free trial basis, before plunking down $6,000.00 or more. Your hearing aid must be sound adjustable, not just for the volume! Good luck!

My mother in law purchased a set of Starkey hearing aids from Hearing Life in Viera Florida model # 17-14-100363 for approximately 4 thousand dollars (not covered by insurance) in 2015. They have never worked correctly. She had hearing test done twice and they assured her they were the right pair for her hearing. They sent back the left one when she first got them because they said something was wrong with it. To this day she can't hear anything while wearing them. She changes the batteries every day and we yell and repeat ourselves for everything we say. You can imagine how frustrating this gets to be.

I called the company customer service directly and all they could say was they only sell the units and directed me to a different hearing office to get her hearing checked again. The office where she purchased the first pair recommended buying a new pair (upgrade-another 5 thousand dollars). Basically she wasted 4 thousand dollars on 2 pieces of plastic junk that she puts Hattie's in every day. I think this is a big scam to steal money from senior citizens who need REAL hearing aids. There should be some kind of class action suit against this company to make them accountable.

I have worn hearing aids for 20+ years and these are the worst hearing aids that I have ever used. I was enticed by what seemed to be a lower cost at first, but I can definitely see that the whole "you get what you pay for" phrase really comes into play with these. It started off by them telling me these were the highest technology, after doing more research I find out that Starkey is actually pretty low technology, even in their "high" stuff.

Noise is where I have the most trouble, but that isn't even it all. I can barely hear my husband as he's sitting right across the kitchen table from me in quiet. When I was tested, they told me my speech understanding was 96% in quiet and 80% in noise, I might get about 50% understanding with these things in. Conversation is better with my old hearing aids than with these. I went back to ask for a refund because after 10+ adjustments they still were not working and they told me nothing could be done about it. TERRIBLE!!!

The phone mode never worked for more than 1 word. Even when they put over 8 magnets on my phone. The auto volume was slow to turn down, if at all, to loud noise. When it did the noise would be back to normal but the aids would stay at low volume. The only way to get the volume back is to shut the aids off and restart. They have stopped working so many times that I have lost count. The last time after factory fixing they still did not work. Now 9 months later, they distort if more than 1 person talks at same time.

I have ITC hearing aids from Starkey that continue getting holes in them. Four different times. 2 times in the left side and two times on the right side. New ones were made each time and they last about two months. The holes are in the plastic casing. Paid over 5000 dollars out of pocket!!! Asked Local shop where I purchased them if they could just take a picture of the hole so I wouldn't be waiting for the new ones to be made and was told no they need to use the inside components of the old one to make new shell. This leads me to believe they have it inside circuitry probably that is heating up causing a plastic to wear and get hole. Soon my one year warranty will be done and I will be out of my money. I believe this company is aware of the problem and have not made attempts to fix it!!!

I lost my hearing in an accident and was issued hearing aids from Advanced Hearing Center in Atlanta Ga. I have never been satisfied with the quality of the Starkey Z Series and it's accompanying "Surf Link" Unit. But my complaint is about the SurfLink Unit and should be taken as a WARNING to those people comparing hearing aids. Most insurance companies WILL NOT supply insurance to cover the extraordinary cost of any hearing devices so be aware of your future needs when buying these products!

The Surf Link Unit is poorly designed and poorly engineered and will go out of warranty within one year of purchase. This is my second Unit replacement and is now out of warranty and will cost me $700.00 to replace - due to Manufacturing Issues. These "one-year" warranties should always be a RED FLAG to us, as this is a sign of "planned obsolescence". The Starkey Company is not at all interested in helping people with issues related to its technology, manufacturing, or replacement of defective parts. Its sole interest is in money... and making LOTS OF IT.

I am deeply disappointed in the results I have gotten from these hearing aids, and I regret to say these companies are all the same. Each new device (or "upgrade") is technology based on obsolescence and will get more complex over time costing people in need of these devices thousands of dollars. Remember... no insurance will cover them, so you are out of pocket when the warranty runs out and the device MUST be replaced. Sure, you can spend and extra $250.00 EVERY YEAR to continue your warranty, but do you see where this is going? Starkey should be ashamed to be in business if they have no intention whatsoever of standing behind their product.

In addition, they gave me 100% of their attention and answered any questions I had thoroughly and with plenty of patience. Their attire was appropriate for their job and the establishment was very well-maintained and thorough in what it carried. Atmosphere was welcoming and very clean. This product is a very valuable item to me as it helps me through everyday life and makes doing, usually, difficult tasks very simple and possible to achieve. Quality of the product is the best I've ever used since needing it. I have also never had any issues or complications in using this product.

The price was very reasonable as well. I feel like I received a good deal and would look forward to doing business with them again. I feel like the pricing was extremely fair. I feel that the quality of what I received was exactly as described and well worth the price I paid. I have had no issues with it so far. I had to contact customer support to find some compatible devices that work with this one; they were 100% helpful and went out of their way to help me any way they could. This is one of the better devices on the market today. It far outperforms the competition and is made of quality material. I can't complain at all about the performance of this device. For what it's worth, I paid maybe HALF of what I could have! Not only is this one of the better devices, but the price point is probably one of the best. This is made of a high-quality material. I've dropped them a bunch of times and they have survived without a problem at all. A few scratches and dents, but still functioning 100%.

The staff at the location I went to was very attentive and really seemed to care about helping get the device needed. They asked what we were needing along with info from the audiologist, and then explained their offerings and helped find the device best for our needs, not their bank account. The device we got, the Orion 2, works perfectly. Don't have an embarrassing device outside, and yet the functionality is not compromised. It is such a "set and forget" device that it is amazing. I do wish the cost had been less, but that is just due to budget. It is not the highest end device, but the functionality and design make up for a lot. The quality seems superb. It isn't a premier device, more of the low to mid range, and yet it performs like a top of the line device as far as I can tell. Still pricey, but good for getting the best on a budget.

They were helpful with finding the device that was right for me. I didn't have to worry about a sales pitch or a commission based sale because I saw genuine concern about my well being from the salesperson. It is the best investment in my health I have ever made. I can hear now and it eliminates background noise so I can hear conversations in crowded environments and virtually anywhere I need to have a conversation. It has returned the quality of life to me in ways I never imagined from a small device. I can hear clearly and not have to nod and pretend to hear. It actually helps me in so many ways. It is great quality and seems to be very sturdy. I don't have to worry about it breaking. And the sound is crystal clear, even when I am in a restaurant or subway.

I got this product for my father and after buying many different ones he had told me that this hearing aid was the best and the sound quality was excellent. I believe after buying many different kinds of hearing aids that this one is up there in quality, probably one of the best ones that have ever been made. I have never had an issue with this product. Therefore I have not had an experience with someone in the customer service department. Maybe the product is so good no one needs service. I would have to say that this cost a lot of money. But I have been buying lots of different brands of hearing aids. So I am happy I found a quality product regardless of the cost.

I am pleased with the performance of my hearing aid because it reduces background noise and amplifies the conversation that I am interested in hearing. I have no more embarrassing moments where I don't hear what someone is saying and I no longer have to ask anyone to repeat themselves. My hearing aid device is small enough to fit into my ear of course, but it is small enough to be out of sight so nobody knows that it's there, but I know it is because I can hear everyone now. It doesn't feel like it's in my ear because it fits so comfortably.

I think they offer excellent customer service because their employees show actual concern about my hearing and well being and they give great instructions and troubleshooting advice if there are any problems like when I installed the batteries backwards. I am so happy with the price I paid because of the value I got for my money. IT WAS WORTH EVERY CENT AND MORE BECAUSE I AM FINALLY ABLE TO HEAR AGAIN AND I REALLY SHOULD HAVE GOTTEN ONE SO much sooner than I did.
