Starkey's reps did a hearing test and got everything fitted. They also did follow-up repairs on my hearing aids. So far, my hearing is much better than without them. My hearings aids went bad right before the warranty was up but Starkey replaced everything and took care of that. That was nice, so I've gotten a little more life in them.

The hearing aids come in very nice and handy on shooting. I'm around helicopters all day, so I use them for that. I also use them if I'm on the yard and they work really good. The only downside is they turn on too easily. So, if you put them in the case and it hits the little tab, they turn on and run on, and sometimes when you go to get them, then they're dead. There needs to be some kind of safety on them and there needs to be a little two-step. That way, if you touch them when you put them in or if you close the case and it touches the on/off button, it doesn't turn them on.
Other than that, they stay charged a good while and I don't have any issues with the charge on them and the battery life. The cost was also good because insurance covered them. They're comfortable to wear, too. But there's too much wind noise. So, if you're outside and the wind's blowing, there's no way to cut the wind noise from blowing off of them unless you mute them or you play music.

We are glad that your devices are working well at protecting your hearing in your noisy environments! We are aware of the sensitivity of the power up button and are working towards a resolution. Thank you for your feedback.

The hearing aid performs okay but the reason I'm not wearing them as much as I should is that there is a sound that's like the wind is blowing in my ear and I don't like that, especially when I'm in the car. It's not a loud sensation but it's an interference. Also, I got the ones with the little batteries in them versus the charger. I wish I had gotten a charger because I almost never remember to pull out that battery and the battery life would last longer life if you pull it out. Other than those, it’s a nice set of hearing aids if I wear them. I hear a whole lot better.

I've had the Starkey hearing aids for three years and I have had issues with them. I go back, and they will take them, and then they will send them back and then send me new ones. But this has happened quite often with the Starkey. A couple of weeks ago, I went to them and they couldn't offer me anything that is like the ones I have when they have to take a hearing aid or both and send them back. They said, "Yeah, we'll get this fixed and we'll send it back." But these hearing aids are supposed to last six years. From the very beginning, when they started to not work and I had to send them in, it wasn't as if they would send my own back. The ones that I have in my ears right now, I have no idea how old they are. They're not my originals. I told this to them when I was there, and I'm going to tell them again when I pick it up. I'm not really a fan of this brand anymore.
When you pay this much money for something, they should last. I should not have to go without them. I should not have to keep going in to get them fixed. I'm just struggling with that part of it right now. My warranty ended a couple of months ago, so I'm about to embark on getting a new service plan or a warranty. But I love the hearing aids. I love that this happened. It changed my life. There are so many things about them that I do love. I love that they're small, and that they charge quickly, I love that they help me do my life and my job. I also love the way they work with my app.

I bought the hearing aids from NuSound. I had planned to buy it at this wholesale house. But NuSound told me that they would match that price, and they had a continuing service plan that for a fee, I would be provided batteries, and about every three months, I go in for earwax cleaning as far as this plan. So not only did I buy the hearing aids, but I bought a service plan. I've been very pleased for doing so. I can hear quite well with the hearing aids so I’m pleased with it.

When I went to the hearing aid place, they offered Starkey and I was impressed with the service I got. I also go in every three months, and I feel good about the adjustments. However, I might need them to be readjusted because I'm not picking up some pitches. Other than that, I like the hands-free phone. I'm talking to someone, and my phone's sitting in the other room.

Starkey's reps were good and very prompt. The only thing is having the hearing aid is funny. When I'm here in the house, once it's quiet, I don't need it. But when I go out into the world, when I do need it, it helps. It's just not nearly as good as natural hearing. Everything is good except these things are so freaking expensive. One costs like $3,400. I was wondering with the new regulations coming out on hearing aids if the prices are gonna come down.

The hearing aids worked fine until my batteries quit on them. I found out I gotta send them off and pay $150 to get new batteries put in them. They only guarantee the hearing aids for six months. I have no problem with the product. But I'm not gonna pay $150 every time I need batteries. That's ridiculous. I'm very dissatisfied. I paid $2,000 for those things. I felt like I was led down the wrong path on them.

I really like those folks over at Starkey in Burnet, Texas. I greatly appreciate the work they did. They do good work. They were very helpful in getting the hearing aids through the VA at no cost to myself. Starkey does really good hearing checks and I've been back a time or two for follow-up hearing checks. They have to test my hearing to see if my hearing has changed. A person's hearing as they age can change over time. They've been good about keeping track of that.

What Starkey had was what my insurance would pay on. My insurance started paying for some of the hearing aid costs. Those hearing aids help and I've gotten used to them. I still have a little trouble as it picks up stuff. One part of it keeps me from hearing what I want to. The batteries also quit recharging so they were sent off. You don't necessarily get the ones you bought back. If I send something off, I would like to get what I started with fixed. Either that or new ones instead of refurbished ones.

I was losing the ability to hear pretty fast. I got hearing aids that I could afford and what I considered to be probably as good as any hearing aid out there. My Starkey hearing aids have features on the back that I can increase or decrease the sound. I chose the model that has a place for television, crowd, restaurant, or normal. I like the fact that they're nice and loud. When I get them turned high, I hear better. I use them frequently. I don't have any problem with hearing over the phone. The only thing is I have a problem with words. I can hear it very well but I can't distinguish exactly what they're saying. I have them on right now and I'm trying to watch a program on TV. I have a very hard time making out the words. That aside, any information that I have about Starkey is all good. I recommend it to all my friends.

The rep from Starkey showed me different hearing aids and asked basic questions. The office people are nice. I had good experiences with them. My hearing aids are basic. I wanna change them. They got Bluetooth, but I don't like having to change the battery. It takes about once a week or sometimes sooner. It depends on how long I'm wearing it. Once I take my hearing aid off, I can hear hardly anything. So, I'm grateful to be able to hear what I'm hearing. It's just I always thought that you'd be able to hear groups wearing a hearing aid. If I'm in a group and people are talking, I can't hear the main person talking. I'm hearing other people that are around me closer. I hear the loudest noise first. Even if I'm a couple feet away and two people are talking, I still can't hear them. I adjust my hearing aids on my phone. When I do, it makes a high-pitched sound.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. It sounds like your hearing aids may need some minor adjustments. My father puts his Starkey hearing aid in his ear. He can hear some better. You normally still have to repeat stuff to him at least one time as opposed to four times when he doesn't have any. The only complaint he ever has about it is after he puts his glasses on, if he doesn't do it right, the glasses will yank it out of his ear. It'll come out. He just sticks it in there. I'll watch and put it in there sometimes.

Starkey has corrected her hearing as much as they can.
My mother-in-law has lived with us 11 and a half years. These are probably the third or fourth hearing aids that she's had. She was with another company that suddenly went out of business and sold their business to Audibel. And Audibel has been wonderful. We've been very happy with their product. They completely replaced both of the hearing aids at no charge. They're no longer warrantied, but we've had them long enough. They sent her new ones and she’s had them now for five years. She won't feel bad letting them set her up with new hearing aids at any time now. Also, Starkey keeps them clean for free. The hearing aids she's got now are good. Plus, they're rechargeable. I've had my Starkey hearing aids for way over a year. I'm satisfied with them. I didn't know how deaf I was without hearing aids. I can tell a lot of difference. I put them in my ears when I get up at 7:30 in the morning. I take them out when I get ready to go to bed. Sometimes it would be 7:30, sometimes 8 o'clock. The hearing aids switch over to a battery if my electricity goes out. I got one that will last for eight hours. I'm satisfied with what I got.

We walked in up there and it was a ray of sunshine really with them and it made my mother-in-law feel comfortable. When she walks in there and they have to take her hearing aid out, she can't hear a lick. Original Review: Aug. 21, 2022
My son, 8 years old today, has been using Starkey hearing aid devices since the age of 3 and has profited from them. Unfortunately, last autumn we bought a new pair Starkey Livio BTE R 2000. One of them stopped working after two months. We have sent it to the provider, they said they had it replaced, although the outer shell looked the same (same serial number inscribed on it). It stopped working again the next day.
I bought a new one from another provider, the same model and after two months again it started making noise. I have sent it to the new provider and hope it will get replaced this time. My son is really frustrated and is obliged to wear his older pair (Muse 2000). Please let me know which steps to take. I can't afford a new pair of another model which would be the ideal solution. Thank you.

We apologize for any confusion about your recent replacement. If a device fails and is exchanged, we will replace the product and reapply the existing serial number so that it is easy to keep track of your account and device history. Any exchanges will be noted in the repair or replacement dispatch. We can understand how your son may be feeling about his devices and we've shared your comments with your hearing professional. They should be in touch with you soon to determine next steps.

Starkey had a girl named Julia, and she was like a superstar. It was good dealing with her, but she's gone. They need to hunt her down and get her back ‘cause she can do anything. She’d go back there and get on the computer and reset my hearing aids. She wasn’t certified, but she knew how to do it. For two years, she got my hearing aids running a lot of times. They would quit, and she'd get them to working. She was real nice, and she stayed on top of my appointments. She would call me if I missed an appointment too.
There's a new girl now, and she's okay, but I don't know her. I went back to visit a few days ago, Monday. One of my hearing aids quit working, and I just took them in. The girl tried to fix it, but she couldn’t, so she said she's going to send them back to the factory. She said my warranty was good till September, and it was gonna take a week.

I go in every three months and they clean the hearing aids. I wasn't impressed with the young man that I was working with. But he since has gone. Also, the office is not fully staffed. It just has the young ladies in it that will take the hearing aids when I take them out. And they will go back in another area and clean them good and put the new little white thingies in, and they come back and hand them to me. Where I came from in Ocala, Florida, they would look in my ears, they would put the hearing aids in to make sure they were in properly. Starkey never does that. They don't touch anything. I have to put the hearing aids in and take them out. And sometimes, I have a hard time getting them in properly.

Hello George -
Your hearing aids help keep you connected with your world. It's understandable that you're looking for what next steps to take. Generally speaking, your hearing professional will be able to assist you with any troubleshooting, maintenance, or adjustments that you may need, and they can also assist with sending the hearing aids out for repair (charges may apply if they are no longer under a warranty or support plan). With the age of your hearing aids and the recent technological advances that have become available in the last few years, your hearing professional may also recommend upgrading to newer hearing instruments. Unlike other manufacturers, Starkey will repair devices that are older than five years old. If you should choose to send the hearing aids in, your hearing professional should be able to add a new worry-free warranty.

The sound is still “noisy white noise” in ear, hollow sound, plugged up ear..worse than without hearing aid in. Does not improve hearing and feel as if balance is off when wearing them. Also, they constantly are either on the verge of falling out or do fall out. I already have lost one pair (on two separate occasions for each ear). I paid the insurance copay for another pair and I am having the same experience. I have told my audiologist about this and nothing has helped. I certainly don’t want to have to constantly worry all day long about whether my hearing aid is about to fall out. Many times it is just ready to fall out when I check it.
I would like a refund on these. I have now paid for two pair of these terrible hearing aids. And, I foolishly just insured the second pair, thinking that the new pair would be better. I paid $6900 for the first pair and an insurance copay of $595 to replace the ones that fell out of my ears. These hearing aids have caused me nothing but stress and loss of large amounts of money, with no hearing improvement..sound is amplified but not good sounding.

I had purchased the NuEar Circa 1200 hearing aids from a company that went out of business shorty before my factory warranty was up and when I called Starkey to see what I could do about getting them fixed. I didn’t hear anything from the company that I purchased the hearing aids from about them going out of business & they just disappeared & left everybody hanging. I called Starkey for help since they were under manufacturer’s warranty at the time still. Unfortunately for purchasers like myself, we are completely out of luck! Starkey only directed me to another one of their venders who wants to charge me for a hearing test, reprogramming both hearing aids and who knows what after if the reprogramming does not fix the problem that I am having with both of my hearing aids.
I own my own construction company and have not been able to hear my clients for about 3 months now and that’s not good for my business due to not hearing the clients when it comes to details and financial matters. Things could end up really bad for my company to say the least. (I make sure that the client and I are on the same page to prevent that from happening but it’s a whole lot of unnecessary time I spend to do that and my family is getting less of my time than they should due to having to spend that time). As a business owner, I stand by my product and service 100% to ensure my client’s satisfaction as I believe every company should be expected to do so. Starkey pushed me off onto a vender every time I called to get help from them.
My hearing aids are a year old and were still under manufacturer’s warranty 3 months ago when I started having problems with them. Since then, I have not been able to get a vender that doesn’t want to charge me for everything as if they were brand new but paid for. These are the worst hearing aids that I have ever had and the worst service from the manufacturer I have dealt with and I have been wearing hearing aids for 39 years.
I would expect the “self proclaimed” industry leading technology manufacturer to handle such a small problem with a lot more inside help rather than just pushing it onto some company that wants to charge the purchaser for service on Starkey’s products. The products are junk and the service is even worse because they are aware that they make junk. I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone because it’s just the run around and pay even under warranty game. STAY AWAY FROM THE JUNK THIS COMPANY MAKES!!!

I have the Starkey remote microphone, the hearing specialist where I got my hearing aids said it was a great device paired with the hearing aids. It is a great device, however the clip is so inferior it does not last more than 6 to 8 months before it breaks making it unable to clip to my shirt. Starkey replaced it once, now it's not under warranty and no one at Starkey can tell me how must it cost to repair. Do not buy this product unless you want to keep sending it in for repair and all the hassle of sending it in and waiting for it to break again in six months.

Hi, John,
Thank you for your feedback. Like you, many people love Remote Microphones. We manufacture a couple of remote microphones that work with our different hearing aids. Your Hearing Professional can work on your behave to give you a quote on the cost to obtain a replacement clip.
We value your feedback, and we value our relationships with our Audiologist. If for some reason, you feel you can no longer work with the office you obtain the Remote Mic from, please call us to get a referral to another office near you that supports Starkey products. The number is 800-721-3573.

My husband bought hearing aids through B.S. Wisniewski in Greenfield Wi on 2/6/19. The first few weeks he seemed to hear fairly well. After that, it has been downhill. He seems to go regularly to Wisniewski to have check ups and have things reviewed, but the results are always the same. He has the same catch phrases he used prior to hearing aids, “I didn’t quite catch that, you are mumbling, I was distracted.” We paid $6,990.00 for these state of the art hearing aids and I have to say, “I am totally disappointed.” I truly couldn’t recommend them to anyone at this point. Instead of telling other people, I wrote to the company but heard nothing. In addition to him hearing very poorly, he has problems with the left one staying in his ear. It is always hanging out of his ear in the air.
Again, I am not complaining about B.S. Wisniewski, they have tried to give him different size plugs to fit his ear, but so far nothing has solved the problem. I have to say, I am truly disappointed that my husband's hearing isn’t much better than prior to hearing aids, I’m afraid he will lose them with them hanging out of his ear all the time. This took a serious bite out of our limited income, as we are both living on our small Social Security checks. I think we paid a very large price for something that really isn’t working for him. We have had many fights about this subject, so this has caused me a lot of grief. Thank you for listening.

I've was born partly deaf so used aid moist of my life, The Starkey aids do the job OK, but the warranty means nothing, if you have to return them for any reason expect big repair bills. The CIC (Completely In Canal) Aids have a stork to pull them out of your ear, this does not wear very well, without them is difficult to get the Aid out. If you try it can damage the casing of the aid and this leads to an expensive repair bill as the case is not covered by warranty, I never had this issue with other Aids companies like Widex or Phonak so assume it a Starkey issue, I think it is because they are just made cheaper although they charge £4,000 a pair which is not cheap at all.

Hi Alan,
Thank you for your patience. We regret to hear you've had a poor experience with the CIC products. We at Starkey are always up to the challenge to make sure you are satisfied with our products. Would you mind sharing the serial number of the hearing aid? You can reply directly through the ConsumerAffairs messages. We will reach out to our UK Team to research the root cause of the removal line damage. Is it okay to email you the results of our findings?

This hearing aid performs better than my last one. It has better sound quality and better amplification. I find I'm able to pick up sounds that I have not been able to hear in the past. It is also able to be adjusted to the exact volume of sound coming out of my ears so the amplification is 100% accurate to my needs. This quality makes it an excellent hearing aid and is not something I have had in the past.

Good hearing aids for the price. Mine are the basic ones & they do the job. The batteries only last about 6 days before changing. Sound quality is good however background noise often overpowers voice.

Service has been fantastic, quick, competent, friendly and professional. They are easily adjustable via phone, can be set to hear phone conversions and TV. Very happy all the way around.

The initial cost of the hearing aid wasn't bad, compared to some on the market. I've been able to pick up more of a conversation and feel more confident since I began wearing the device. Average battery life is three days if the common name brands are avoided and a quality version is used.
