Starkey was in the insurance program I had at work. This is my first pair of hearing aids but I don’t like any hearing aid. It always sounds like we're talking in a cave. It’s weird. But the people at the location are always willing to help with anything. They clean my hearing aids and let me know what's going on in the hearing aid world.
Hi Brad - Thanks for leaving a review. Adjusting to hearing aids, especially if you've had unmanaged hearing loss for a while, can be a big adjustment. Keep at it - you're doing a great job! Take it one day at a time, and keep that communication going with the office. They will be able to help make adjustments to help you hear your personal best.

My wife has an audiologist at Willoughby Hearing. We've tried different things that were promoted, little things supposed to hide in your ear, and you're not supposed to notice them. We would not have asked for a better service than we've gotten from Roz. She's done a terrific job. And my wife wouldn't want to go any other place because of her.
Starkey is better than the other ones my wife tried because it has a very small ear tube. They had a hard time getting little microphones small enough to go in there comfortably. And this lady at Willoughby Hearing did her job to get something that was comfortable. The last time we were at the location, the agent tuned them down somehow to make them a little more comfortable for her.
My wife doesn't always wear them because she's a piano player and whenever she sits on the piano, she feels like she's playing on a tin can. So, she takes the hearing aids out, sits in a little dish on the piano, and plays, and then she'll leave them there. She doesn't seem to buy the idea that by not wearing them, she's allowing room for the advancement of more failure and more dementia as she gets older. She doesn't always wear them all the time because the peace and quiet is so wonderful. When I wash dishes or do anything, everything's so crackly and noisy and everything is so intense.
The hearing aids will not give her new ears. But if she doesn't wear them, then the problem that was so clearly detailed to her about the higher frequencies that she has a problem with will only get worse if we don't maximize the stimulation that's available by wearing them.
Her audiologist is giving the best she can afford to get her under her terms with Social Security or Medicare, because they have certain limits. We have limited income and co-pays sometimes are a bit of a source of anxiety for me. But everything was paid. And every time she goes in there to have her ears cleaned or to have the hearing aids adjusted or tested, there's never any charge. That means that Medicare or Medicaid is paying for it. And maybe they're getting a $1500 hearing aid, under the limits. It could be that a $3000 hearing aid would do better than the one she's got if it were affordable. I'm sure Starkey has a range of pricing and the technology they can provide for different investments.
One of the reasons my wife wouldn’t want to go anywhere else is that she doesn’t want to lose connection with Roz. She’s an independent agent but she has all these things on the wall and certificates having to do with Starkey. My wife likes how well she's been treated by the company. We've sent the hearing aids back one time because it wasn't working right. One of them was returned and they did some kind of repair on it, so, she was only using one for a week. And she was happy to get it back, but she also commented that it's great to deal with a company that stands behind its product so unconditionally.
Thank you for your feedback, Myrl. Has you wife talked with Roz about her experience with how it sounds when she plays piano? There are some special programs that Roz can apply to her hearing aids that may help!

The hearing aid I got from Starkey Hearing Aids was 100% better than the last one I had. Their customer service was also great. My favorite feature is the bluetooth, and it was good. I got my phone connected to my hearing aids, so I can hear better.
Thank you for your review, Dwight. We're glad the hearing aids are making a big difference.

I got my Starkey hearing aids when I went to have a hearing test to see if I needed them. The process was simple, and the audiologist was great. The hearing aids are pretty cool once I got through the bugs. At first, wax buildup made it difficult to hear, but once I got them cleaned and learned how to clean them myself, they worked great.
I like that my hearing aids can connect to my cellphone so I can hear my phone’s audio more clearly. My first set used batteries, and my second set is rechargeable. The newer pair is definitely an upgrade and way above the first. The price is high, but it is well worth it.
Gerald, we really appreciate that you took the time to share your feedback. Thank you!

I got my Starkey hearing aids at NewSound Hearing in Waterloo, Iowa. The audiologist was sweet and concerned about my hearing loss. She tried her best to help me out by talking about the different hearing aids and letting me choose the best for me. I had a really good experience. Sometimes it’s a little bit hard to get the hearing aids positioned right. I also don't like that they can be seen when I pull my hair back. But I’m happy with them since I’m able to hear better. I would recommend it to anyone.
Thanks for your glowing review, Leona! Did you know that there are different sized domes (the tips that go into your ears) and even custom ear molds available? It might help with the positioning that you were mentioning. Your provider will be able to help if you'd like to try a different size!

I purchased a hearing aid two years ago. Starkey Hearing Aids was the brand that the doctor where I went to sell. I got the one that uses batteries. It doesn’t have a Bluetooth feature on it. I got it because it is what the insurance company pays. But I don’t think it works well. It’s just good for one-on-one, but not when you get in a crowd.
Thanks for the review, Russell. Yes, there are many styles and levels of technology available, many of which have additional programming options for hearing speech in noise and Bluetooth. There are also accessories available that may help. It might be worth mentioning the next time you're in the office, as it's important that you are able to hear your best wherever you go.

When I learned that I was gonna need hearing aids, and when I went to get checked and fitted for them, Starkey was the type that they gave me. It is a good product. It is helpful. And getting used to them, like with any hearing aids, is difficult. But once you get adjusted to them and learn how to use them, you’ll be satisfied with the way that they enhance, and the way you’ll be able to hear sounds and people. So, I’m okay with my hearing aids. They really helped me.

My favorite feature of the Starkey hearing aid is that it’s so small and invisible, and I originally decided to go with them because of the insurance and what it covered. However, I had a heck of a time at first. I’m 65 and fairly good with technology, but I thought the software and the Bluetooth connectability should have been easier. I found it pretty frustrating.
The instructions and the linkability were confusing in the beginning. Let's say, if I get a FaceTime and want someone else to hear the conversation instead of having it Bluetooth inside my head, switching back and forth was confusing. I also had trouble where one of the earpieces just simply died and nobody could figure out what happened. I did have it replaced, so I don't have a problem now.
Thank you for leaving a review, Kathleen.

I liked the people who worked at Starkey and I liked the audiologist when I went there. The batteries don’t last as long as they should. If I charge them at night and wear them in the morning, before dinner time, I’m getting notification that the batteries are going low. They should last me at least until the evening of the next day. But I love the way they look.
My mother wore hearing aids years back, and hers was about the size of a small transistor radio, and very cumbersome. So, I was surprised the first time I tried mine on because they were totally different from what I expected. I thought they'd still be noticeable, but they're not. And I was concerned because I wear my hair short, but that didn't seem to make any difference, so they’re fine. I had them replaced because it’s been five years and I’m on my second pair. However, they're very expensive.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Patricia. We're not sure which model and style of hearing aid you have, but if it is less than a few years old, we recommend contacting your hearing care professional. Generally speaking, Genesis AI and Evolv AI rechargeable hearing aids should have more than enough battery life on a single charge to power you though your day. Your provider may be able to identify if there are any issues or programming changes that are causing an unexpected battery drain.

My health insurance covered the cost for this pair of Starkey hearing aids. This is my third pair of hearing aids, but the first couple of times, they weren’t Starkey. What I like about these is that you can charge them. It’s not like you hope the battery doesn’t run out on you when you’re most indisposed. I haven't had a lot of problem with it. They work, and as long as I can hear what I’m doing, that’s fine.

I got a hand-me-down pair of Starkey hearing aids from my sister and I’ve stayed with them because I’m very happy with both the audiologists and the hearing aids.
That was my first pair. I bought these two years ago on a really good special, so the cost was reasonable. Otherwise, I would never be able to afford hearing aids at all.
I went to the Here Again Center in Vernon, Connecticut, and I’ve been very happy with their service. The staff are friendly, wait times are short, and they clearly know what they’re doing.
Thank you for sharing your feedback, Stephanie. We're glad the hearing aids are helping!

Starkey Hearing Aids was one of the options when I needed a hearing aid. My hearing is so bad that I needed powerful and good ones. And that was through my health insurance. They said it was the best I could get with my health insurance.
It works great. If I don't have hearing aids, then I'm basically deaf. I can stand right under my smoke detector and if it goes off, I couldn't hear it. I have a 70% hearing loss in one ear, maybe a little more on the other. I got a Streamer. I wouldn't be without it and I had to get another one. I would be right down there as soon as their doors open. I watched TV before mostly with closed-captioning. I still use closed-captioning, but the Streamer is great.
Starkey is top-of-the-line. I know that there are more expensive ones. But I'm totally satisfied. I'm retired, fixed income and all that. I'm totally happy with them. It's not perfect but it's way better than I ever thought it would be.
They’re rechargeable unlike my last ones, which had batteries that I had to buy. I was a little concerned about that when I first got them. But I've never had an issue with them going dead on me. And I'm up early in the morning until late at night. I'm streaming and I know it pulls more battery. But by the end of the day, I'm down to about 25% battery. It lasts me through the day.
Thank you for leaving a review, Larry. We are so pleased that you've been connected to the best technology for your needs.

Hi Sandra - Thanks for leaving a review. Did you know that we offer rechargeable hearing aids in two different sizes for behind-the-ear as well as completely custom-fit in-the-ear options? I’ve had my hearing aids for a year now. When I got them, I went through Starkey to access the online to maintain them. The cost is right in the middle and it’s fine with me. The quality is pretty good, and I like the way I can hear my phone calls through them. Once in a while, I have trouble with the Bluetooth not connecting right. Sometimes I go to the site, and it shows that they’re not on. I went to my hearing aid clinic, and they said I have to turn my Bluetooth on and off.

Starkey was my first pair of hearing aids. I chose them because they had an ad where I could go in and talk to somebody, and that was what I wanted. Because a lot of the hearing aids that were advertised on TV are sent to you in the mail, and you have to find somebody to take them to, to work on them.
And the customer service representative at Starkey was really nice. But I lost one of my hearing aids, and I went back to New Orleans trying to find it, but it died out on me. So, I wish I could get that one I lost, the left one. Because they want too much for one, and I couldn’t afford that.
Thank you for leaving a review, Christopher. Our New hearing aid limited warranty doesn't include loss coverage, but we wanted to let you know that some providers offer a comprehensive worry-free warranty that includes loss coverage. Might be worth looking into when the time comes!

I bought the in ear model of Starkey hearing aids about 2 years ago. When they work they work great (with the exception of no phone app to adjust them). However, I’ve had to bring them in 9 times for repairs. One side goes out and is repaired (they have to be mailed out to the manufacturer so I’m without it for about 5-6 days). Then the other one fails and I have to do it again. Then the battery door breaks. On and on. I paid $6,000 for these! So, if you buy these, buy a second pair from the cheaper Signia brand for their basic model online for $2300 as a backup like I did.

I have owned several Starkey Hearing aids over the decades. I never really had a problems until my last BTE Hearing aid that's still under warranty. I've lost count of the times I brought it back because it's just not clear, crisp and loud enough. My Audiologist sent it back to Starkey to be rebuilt. It came back the same and lasted two weeks before it went out again. She adjusted it and it worked for 3 days and went out again. I'm profoundly deaf and I need my aids. My old Starkey's are useless and my audiologist was not able to see me for one week. She lost me as a customer. I called Innovative Hearing with 200 offices nationwide and they wouldn't help me because I didn't purchase it from them. My wife explained that it was still under Starkey Nationwide warranty. Regardless they refused. I'm done with Starkey, never again. $3300.00 down the drain.

I went to NewSound Hearing Centers, which is affiliated with Starkey. It is within my hometown and not very far away from where I lived. When I went to the office, I could tell that they had a very good chemistry. They were trying to rectify my issue with tinnitus. That was why I chose them. My test revealed that I didn't have hearing loss. The main reason that I was wearing hearing aids was to mask the sound of my tinnitus. I went with Starkey for the convenience and also the reputation from some reviews. Those two things stood out.
When I moved from Bloomfield to South Jersey, I had a homelessness situation. They were trying their best to keep up with me, wondering when I could come back to Essex County. They tried to work with me as long as they could. But it just didn't seem to work out. Insurance has different timelines as to when things need to be done in order to proceed. It wasn't something where I had to return because of issues, per se. The hearing aid model that I had cost around $3,000 and it was Medicaid coverage. In the end, my relationship with Starkey got disconnected due to my personal circumstances.

I bought my Starkey hearing aids in Issaquah, Washington. I needed them for one thing and they’re local. I live in Issaquah so it’s very easy to get to. I had Costco before and I wasn’t too happy with theirs so I was much wide open for trying a new dealership.
I’ve been having a few problems with my hearing aids though and I’ve been talking with Matthew about the sound on the ears. I get that whistle constantly. I have an appointment with him in April. We’d send one of them back and see if that might correct that. He’s tried everything he could and it hasn’t worked. But other than that, I’m happy with it except with that whistle that goes on.

I dealt with Pattillo Hearing, and I thought I was buying Starkey Hearing Aids. They did a switcheroo on me and gave me Audibel, so I returned them. I looked up information on Audibel, and I could find very little, other than Starkey owns Audibel. But when I looked up the Starkey Hearing Aids, I could find all kinds of reviews on them. I was terribly disappointed when I received Audibel instead of Starkey. I bought a $399 set of hearing aids, and they are just sound amplifiers. But, they help me just fine. The $6,000 hearing aids are just a gimmick right now.
You go to Costco and get them for $1,600, and it’s the same thing. I don’t see any reason to pay all that, and they are as good as the people that can program them. My biggest thing about my Starkey experience is that I had insurance and my insurance said, “Out of the $6,000, we’re going to pay you a little bitty tiny a bit. And then you get to pay a copay plus a co-insurance.” And I thought, “Well, why am I bothering to pay insurance? I can save all that money.” So, I paid cash. I’m not impressed with them. You would do better sticking your fingers in your ear. That way, you won’t hear your wife arguing with you.
Hi Joseph - Thank you for sharing your feedback. Starkey owns Audibel, and the internal components are the same between brands. Depending on the style of Audibel hearing aids that you have, you may be able to make some adjustments on your end through your phone or via any memories programmed via the touch buttons. That being said, your hearing aids should be comfortable and stay in your ears all day. We're sorry that this was not your experience. We highly recommend contacting your provider about this, as you as there are many options, such as custom earmolds and different sized domes, that may improve your experience.

I was diagnosed with a hearing problem that could be helped by hearing aids, so I went to Audibel and Starkey is the hearing aid they recommended and offered..
My hearing aid doesn't need batteries. It goes behind my ear. And then it has a wire that goes into my ear. I think it's a pretty standard hearing aid. It fits fine. I don't even know it's there.
It does its job pretty well. It doesn't restore my hearing like it was, but it definitely improves my life. It was impacting my life before I got them and aggravating my family. I had a hard time communicating with them. It's made all that better, made it all easier.
I used to pretended sometimes that I was hearing what people said, because I felt stupid asking them to repeat things all the time. I don't have to do that near as much now. Plus the fact that I have hearing aids on, people are more aware that I have a hearing problem and they are more understanding.
I like that I can listen to stuff on my phone over it. It's like having a Bluetooth device. And I do that a lot. I think that's really helpful. The fact that I have rechargeable rather than battery-operated is a plus.
Starkey made my life much better. I can interact with people much better. I'm safer because I can hear what's going on around me. It improves the quality of my life.
We appreciate your feedback, Patricia! We are so happy that your hearing aids are helping you hear and live better.

I like my Starkey hearing aids. I liked the way their website described the process or and explained to me the fact that my experience would get better along the way as I continue to use my hearing aids. One of the hesitations that I had over buying hearing aids was that many people, some of my family and some that I work with have purchased hearing aids, and they weren't wearing them. They were spending a ton of money on hearing aids, and they'd wear them for two weeks, and then they quit wearing them.
So I was really hesitant to buy hearing aids. But the website explained to me how the brain will adapt to them over time, and as you get used to them, hearing will get better and better. I just like the way it was explained, so I chose them and made an appointment.
The hearing aids are a little quirky. Things sound odd at first, almost alarming. Different sounds that I I’m no longer used to hearing make my auditory experience very strange. And I think that's part of the reason that people put them down.
But the place that I purchased them from was super good at getting me in continually, kind of tweaking this and tweaking that, and creating settings for me that were good for my conditions. My work environment, my home environment, things I'd like to do. And after time, it gets better and better. At some point, I’d rather have them in than not.
I still don't hear like I used to. I've probably had them for four months. I definitely like them. There are environments that are difficult still, and so sometimes, it frustrates me that there are environments that are still not perfect. I'm assuming that technology will increase, and over time, they'll get better and better, which I'm sure they've already done that.
My mom bought some other hearing aids and she won't wear them because she's afraid they're gonna fall off. Hers are not molded to her ears. Mine are. So I like that very much.
My hearing aids made it easier to communicate with my wife. They make it easier to communicate and catch everything at work. And when you have has hearing loss, at a certain point, you get really frustrated with saying, “What? What?” Having people clarify what they just said to you. It's just so repetitive and so annoying, and so the reduction in that or just being able to hear is fantastic. Worth the money. It’s worth the price I paid to get that.
Also, I was very concerned about my cognitive ability declining. And hearing loss, I understand, is a factor. My father had dementia, and so when people say, “Well, if you've got hearing loss and you don't do anything about it, your chances of having dementia are increased.” I don't want that.
That's what I've heard. You kind of isolate yourself. People are having a conversation and you don't wanna be the person in there saying, “What? What?” You're trying to follow along, you can’t hear, so you just avoid it.
We appreciate your detailed review, Randy. The right technology fit by a skilled hearing care professional can really make a big difference!

I started with hearing tests when I was probably nine years old. I was a school teacher. I had a classroom with a terrible echo. Now that I'm retired, most of my time is spent at home watching TV, or outside reading. And I try to avoid noisy situations. Like yesterday, I went to the dentist. I didn't put my hearing aids in 'cause I knew I'd have the noise from the dental procedures.
The hearing aids are uncomfortable at times. I get tired of them. And when I stepped outside, we got a 30-mile-an-hour wind out there today, and they're a tremendous annoyance. They're annoying when I hear cupboard doors slam or I'm in restaurants. I don't have a smartphone, so I have no means of toning them down using my telephone.
Hi Bob - Thanks for sharing your feedback. It is true that pairing your hearing aids with a smartphone can open up more options for customizing the sound settings in different scenarios, but we do offer remote controls and custom program buttons as well, which may improve your overall experience. I recently visited Audibel for a hearing exam as I was facing mid-range hearing loss, and they recommended Starkey hearing aids. The overall experience with them was very good, and I felt well taken care of. The audiologist, who also wears hearing aids, was knowledgeable and addressed all my questions and concerns effectively, making the experience positive. The hearing aid I chose fits on the back of the ear and has a thin wire that goes into the ear. It has taken me some time to get used to it, and I'm still adjusting. I find the controls accessible via an app, though I often forget to use it. My favorite feature of the hearing aids is the Bluetooth capability, although sometimes I experience issues with its reliability and range. My experience with Starkey Hearing Technologies has been wonderful. I initially had a hearing aid in my left ear, but it reached a point where I couldn't hear well enough with it. So, we decided to get both ears checked, and it turned out I needed hearing aids for both ears. We chose Starkey, perhaps because we saw it advertised, though I'm not entirely sure.
The model I have is gray with a little black piece that fits in the ear. I love the comfort it provides, and more importantly, I can hear so much better now. Before Starkey, I had a different hearing aid and I couldn't hear with it, but I never went back to have them reprogram it. Still, Starkey is far superior to that one.
My life has greatly improved since using the Starkey Hearing aids. I can hear what my kids and grandkids are saying, and I can enjoy the tv without straining to understand. Specifically, the hearing aids help me with volume issues, especially since my grandkids tend to mumble. What's great about Starkey is that I can visit their office for any adjustments if I'm having issues.
Overall, I'm completely satisfied with Starkey. I can honestly give it a top rating without any hesitation.

I chose Starkey Hearing devices because my insurance recommended them as one of the two options. My favorite feature is the dual control, allowing me to adjust both hearing aids with one set of buttons, which makes it very convenient. The quality of the hearing aid is excellent.
I've been using hearing aids for about 30 years, starting in my mid-40s and now I'm in my mid-70s. This is my seventh set, as my hearing continues to decline. The Starkey hearing aids have significantly improved my quality of life; I can now hear my grandchildren and even my great-grandchild, which I couldn't before. They enhance my ability to hear upper frequencies well and maintain a strong mid-range, although lower frequencies are more challenging for me.
Additionally, the team at NewSound Hearing in Lake Jackson deserves mention. They go above and beyond to help, displaying exceptional friendliness and knowledge. I fully endorse their service. Overall, I highly recommend Starkey Hearing devices.
Thank you for your glowing review! It's wonderful to read that you're connecting with your loved ones better than ever.

I decided to get hearing aids due to hereditary hearing loss, which makes it difficult to follow conversations during meetings. I opted for Starkey Hearing Technologies because my provider recommended them highly. I like the way that they have all the features on them but I am disappointed with the Bluetooth capability. When connected to my phone, people often complain about a static, crackling noise during calls. This issue is frustrating since I frequently need to take work-related calls and using the hands-free feature would be ideal. Despite reporting this problem to my provider, it remains unresolved, and I haven't received a solution in over a month and a half. And they are pricey, which would be justified if the Bluetooth function worked correctly. Other than that, the hearing aids are rechargeable, which is convenient, and I've had no issues with wearing them for 12 to 15 hours daily. They are comfortable and hold a charge well.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. Have you tried updating the app and updating the firmware of your hearing aids? It may help with some of the concerns that you've mentioned.

I switched to Starkey for my hearing aids, having been with a different provider initially. The customer service experience with Starkey has been great. The staff are always friendly, explain everything well, and make sure I understand everything. They strive to make sure the hearing aids work well for me.
The hearing aids I have from Starkey use batteries, and the current pair I received about six months ago lasts at least a week on a single battery, which is an improvement from my previous pair. I also notice better hearing quality with this new pair. I appreciate having a remote control that allows me to adjust the volume according to different situations, such as being in a crowd or on the phone.
If I were to recommend Starkey to a friend, I'd mention their quality hearing aids and the helpful and friendly customer service. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my experience. The hearing aids fit well, and they sit in the canal comfortably. Having the remote is quite convenient, and I rate my overall experience with Starkey very highly.

The process of acquiring the hearing aids was easy. My father is pleased with the performance of his hearing aids; they work well and have significantly improved his hearing. Considering the experience with Starkey, I would rate it a 5 for overall satisfaction. We found the pricing reasonable, especially with insurance covering part of the cost.

I decided to get a hearing aid because I can no longer hear well. I chose Starkey, and the hearing aids are doing ok. However, I do face a problem when I go to sleep; if I don't take them out, they fall out, and one of my dogs already ate one. Fortunately, they came with a one-year warranty, and Starkey replaced it.
The hearing aids require battery replacement every 2 to 3 days. I don't have any favorite features, but my wife says the tv doesn't need to be as loud anymore, so I believe I am hearing better now. Overall, Starkey meets my needs, but there's always room for improvement.
Thanks for sharing your feedback. We do not recommend wearing the hearing aids while you sleep. If you take them off and turn them off for the night, you may get longer battery life out of them.

I recently purchased hearing aids from Starkey Hearing Technologies. I decided on Starkey after noticing their sign on a building and stopping in for a hearing test. The service I received during my visit was excellent; the staff were very professional and provided a smooth customer experience.
My hearing aids use batteries. I primarily bought them to hear better. Fortunately, I do feel like my hearing has improved significantly since getting these hearing aids.
When discussing the product with a friend, I would definitely say my experience has been very positive concerning the professionalism and service at Starkey. However, I found the cost of the hearing aids to be excessively high, akin to purchasing a new car. While I am very satisfied with the service and professionalism, earning a top rating from me, the substantial price is a major downside.

I have been a loyal customer of Starkey for over 48 years. My journey started back in Arlington, Washington, with a local doctor who introduced me to their products. Over the years, I have tried other brands due to cost considerations, but none matched the service and quality provided by Starkey.
Despite trying more affordable options via mail and various advertisements, they simply could not compare. As I moved or my providers retired, I have used Starkey across three different locations and consistently received excellent service. I see no reason to switch brands at this stage, especially at age 88.
My current model is a behind-the-ear hearing aid, which I opted for due to significant hearing loss. While I would prefer another style, this was the best solution for my needs. Starkey has supported me well, even as one ear has become nearly deaf.
My hearing has been an issue since my 30s, often requiring others to repeat themselves, which can be frustrating for them. Nowadays, my hearing has deteriorated to the point where I need my daughter's assistance at appointments to ensure I understand everything, especially when language barriers are involved.
Overall, I am very pleased with Starkey. I would rate my experience a 5 out of 5 and have already recommended them to others.

One of my favorite features of the Starkey hearing aids is the Bluetooth capability, which allows me to adjust them using my phone. The quality of the hearing aids is excellent, and I am very pleased with how they have performed.
However, I have encountered a minor issue where the volume or frequency adjustments sometimes change on their own without any input from me. This occurs occasionally, about a couple of times a week.
Despite this small issue, I would still rate Starkey a solid 5 stars based on my overall experience.

The Starkey hearing aids help clarify sounds and manage the echo, but I'm still adjusting to some irritation, particularly with the right side. Ensuring they fit tightly with the wire holds has required some modifications. The daily charging is a regular routine, and I'm still adapting psychologically to wearing hearing aids and being aware of them around others. I initially decided to purchase a hearing aid after noticing difficulty in certain situations, like in crowded restaurants where it was hard to hear others due to background noise. After receiving information from Medico, my Medicare supplement company, about their partnership with Starkey Hearing Technologies, I opted for their hearing aids. Unfortunately, the experience hasn't particularly improved my hearing situation. While the device did offer volume control, it mostly increased overall loudness rather than enhancing specific frequency ranges where I experienced difficulty, specifically higher-end sounds.
I must credit Starkey for offering a competitively priced option and aligning the pricing within my budget range. However, despite these adjustments, the impact on my life has been minimal. Watching TV with my wife, for instance, I prefer to take the aids out because they simply amplify the audio without enhancing clarity. At 67, with past experiences in concerts and construction sites having already affected my hearing, the product's inability to improve speech comprehension in noisy environments came as a disappointment. Yet, I would rate my overall experience with the Starkey hearing aids a three out of five stars because of price competitiveness and good customer service.

I decided to purchase a hearing aid when my family told me that I wasn't hearing them well anymore, prompting me to take action sooner rather than later. We've been with Starkey hearing aids for a significant time because of our excellent past experiences with their honest service and quality products. Based on this history, it was a natural decision to choose Starkey again.
I opted for a digital model, which offers several adjustable features. It's a behind-the-ear type but doesn't require an ear mold, and I'm extremely satisfied with it. Since using it, my day-to-day life has noticeably changed. I'm able to use the phone better. Also, I went to a movie and heard every word clearly for the first time – it was a stunning experience given I used to rely heavily on loud volume and captions due to my husband's profound hearing impairment.
The fit of the hearing aid is very comfortable now that I've had the tube length adjusted, and the convenience only improves since it's powered with rechargeability – I simply put them in a case to recharge overnight.
Additionally, my positive experience also extends to our local Crystal Lake office, where the service is outstanding. The staff is honest, personable, and accommodating, allowing me to easily arrange visits as needed. This stellar service reinforces my confidence in Starkey. Based on my experience, I would recommend Starkey and rate the overall experience and customer service a five out of five.

I recently started using hearing aids from Starkey Hearing Technologies medicare supplement plan favored them through Autobell, a preferred supplier, so it was quite straightforward for me to choose them as they are covered within my plan. In terms of its features, the Starkey hearing aid serves its primary purpose well—it significantly improves my hearing, which is exactly what I need from it. I haven't used other hearing aids before, so my perspective might change as I gain more experience. Initially, the programming set the high-end frequencies too harsh and caused some feedback. But after a quick visit back, a simple adjustment on the level brought everything to comfort.
Product seems fine, given my limited exposure time. If I had to provide a suggestion, I think the addition of an off-switch would be beneficial—that way, one wouldn't necessarily have to carry along the recharging dock or worry about battery efficiently depleting overnight. An off-switch, in the circumstances, could retain battery allowing usage even without dealing accessories.

I did not expect anything like near perfect hearing but for the price, I did expect an obvious improvement. Disappointed to say the least.
Hi Steve - Thanks for leaving a review. We agree - you should be able to tell a difference from when your hearing aids are on and activated vs. going unaided. It's hard to say what the issue would be without consulting your provider. Some common things would be the hearing aids not being powered on, not being appropriately programmed to your preferences, devices in need of maintenance/cleaning, or not being the appropriate technology style and power level for your hearing loss needs. Some providers, particularly for first time hearing aid wearers, will not fit hearing aids to the patient's full hearing loss profile and slowly adjust them over several sessions so that the patient is eased into getting used to how things sound through the hearing aids. If you have any questions or concerns that we can help address for you, please do get in touch with our Customer Service team. I have worn Starkey in the ear hearing aids for nearly 40 years. In 2021 I purchased a pair of Starkey Livio hearing aids. For the first year and a half they were excellent then issues began to arise. Bluetooth connectivity became intermittent. Often I had to unpair and re-pair the hearing aids. When this didn't work I called the help center and they would blame it on my Samsung S21 phone. Additionally the hearing aid sound would become scratchy like listening to an AM radio during a thunderstorm. Often the left one would make a clicking sound then shut off for several seconds then turn on again. Often it would completely cut out when noise from a bus or truck would start up or accelerate past me while I was walking in town.
At about the 2 year point it stopped working totally. My audiologist sent both back to Starkey under the warranty. Several components were replaced in the left one and the right had minimal work done. Through the next 9 months I had to return the left one 5 times for the same issues. Each time several components were replaced. Once they made a new hearing aid from the mold the had in house but the same issues persisted. Finally in May 2024 the audiologist got Starkey to make a completely new hearing aid using a new ear mold.
In mid July the hearing aid again began to intermittently stop. No volume for several minutes then start working again. Last week while on vacation the left one totally went out. I called my audiologist when I returned home this week and was told, "Sorry you no longer have a warranty" even though this hearing aid is only 2 plus months old. I am currently wearing my 13 year old hearing aid.

I gave up on the first set when there was no solution to the whistling in my left ear - my more impaired side. They never solved my inability to hear soft spoken men with low pitched voices. Service in crowded areas was never good.
When I got my recent set, another $6,000+, I expected much more. After a couple of visits, our local provider who works very well with us, got rid of the whistle, again in my left ear. Now, I notice a humming noise in my left ear. Crowds and low pitched voices are still not very good. I was so excited about getting the newest technology but am badly disappointed and debating on whether or not to keep this current set. I'm not too sure there is help for my particular hearing loss but quality of life would be so much better if I could hear and understand more of the dialogue I am exposed to. I hear well with the Starkey hearing aid and they're very comfortable. I don't even feel like I have anything in my ears. I forget and go to bed with them. I'm very happy with them.

I'm comfortable wearing hearing aids, and my Starkey hearing aids don't bother me. It's just they have a lot of static with them. Every once in a while, it'll get static and then it just goes away. I went to visit, and they checked it out, and it was fine. Overall, the hearing aids have made my life a lot better, but it still hasn't fixed the whole problem. Plus, I got a better product from the VA.

I've had Starkey for a couple of years and the earpieces could be better. With the way they're shaped, I don't get as much sound and they're not very comfortable. Once I put them in, I really can't hear that. Everything is muffled or very tinny. I was using tips I had from my older hearing aid. But other than that, my experience is very good and customer service is always helpful.

My hearing is not super bad but it's starting to develop into a problem. So, I wanted to try these out and I ended up using them all the time. I got little glitches with them, but they're great and they exceeded expectations. I have the Evolv AI 2400 from Starkey and I love the Bluetooth part of it the most. I don't need to put AirPods or ear muffs on while I'm talking on the phone at work or in a conference call or I can be walking, listening to a podcast or picking up my telephone calls. Everything is done with Bluetooth and most people don't even know that I'm listening to a phone call or communicating in another way because you can't see and they're very inconspicuous.
When the noise is really loud in a restaurant, a bar or someplace where there's a lot of noise and there’s a lot of people talking, it’s confusing because it’s amplified even with the restaurant feature of the hearing aid. So, sometimes I just take them off and put them in my pocket for a minute. Then, when get out of there, I put them back in. If you're outside, you hear a bird and it could be coming from your left or your right. And then you honestly don't know where it's coming from. So, you kind of look around. But that’s just a minuscule annoyance. I've dealt with it.
I like the hearing aids a lot. My recommendation for people is when you get up in the morning, put them in and when you take a shower, take them out but wear them until you go to bed. I've had a couple of times where I've worn them all day and I get to 10 o'clock at night and they've run out of juice. So, a longer charge might be a recommendation because if I get up at 6:30, I have them in until 10:00 at night, and that's a long time. But I have them in religiously. One day, I forgot them and it was hard to deal with. The other thing is there's a cord that plugs in the back. It slips out easily into the charger. So, there were a couple of nights when I put the hearing aids in the charger and closed it, and the cord didn’t stay in. It needs to be a little harder, something that snaps in or something to keep it from falling out easily.
A lot of big companies have their healthcare stuff right where they’re located and Starkey is just across the street. I work at a defense contractor and we have our own medical building with a pharmacy, therapy, doctor and the audiologist is there, too. So, it's great. It's very convenient and I meet with her once every six months and she helps me if I have trouble cleaning them or giving me replacement parts. She sits with me and we go over everything. Once a year, you sit in the room and she checks your hearing but every six months, she'll help me with the cleaning, making sure everything is good.
My mother-in-law’s hearing is bad and I recommended that she go to Starkey and go through the same process and buy the same products that I did. And she did. So, we have the same audiologist and brand. She likes the product but she doesn't seem as dedicated. Every time I ask her if the hearing aids are in, they are, but I'm not sure if she's religiously wearing them as much as I am. When we're in the restaurant, she has the same problem that I do and we both take them off or turn it to restaurant mode, and go from there. But otherwise, she's satisfied with them.
The app was seamless from the minute I got it. It was very easy to use. But my mother-in-law isn't well-versed in apps and had some trouble with it. I'm a little more tech-savvy than most. Not as good as the young teenagers coming up, but I do pretty good for my age. If it was a little more intuitive to set it up, it's easy but there should be something to help out people that's a little bit more not tech-savvy. The price was $3,600 and I met my deductible. So, I paid 360, which was not a problem. Even if it was 3600, I would have paid it. It's a good product.

A lady who does hearing tests and my employer told me about Starkey. I then got hearing aids. The comfort is fine. The quality is good. It's just I paid a lot of money and got an upgrade for the hearing aids that I can use and talk through with my phone without using the speaker on my phone, and that feature does not work. They've adjusted it many times over and every time I turn that feature on, everybody I talk to says that the background noise is way too loud for them. When I'm using Bluetooth and trying to use the mic on the hearing aids instead of the mic on my phone, that setting doesn't work. I just had it turned back on because I heard they made some improvements. Other than that, the hearing aids made life easier. It’s easier to hear conversations.

After being diagnosed with the hearing loss, I went to the first audiologist I saw who was way too expensive and didn't offer me any of the discounts and insurance stuff I was wanting. So, I called a couple of friends of mine who both had hearing loss and they recommended an audiologist. I was happy with them and took their advice. They recommended the Starkey hearing aids. It was a little more money but afterwards, my insurance covered everything. So, it was an easy choice. They offered me the best deal on what seemed to be the best product.
The only problem I have is with my phone, which doesn't support the Bluetooth for the telephone calls and everything else. It wasn't the hearing aid's problem. My mobile device doesn't support it, which makes me miss out on a feature. Other than that, I'm happy with the hearing aids. And as it's a few years older now, it needs a little more maintenance, but they're right there. The audiologist I am doing business with has been very helpful. I've been happy with them.

I have a pair of Livio Edge AI 2400 hearing aids from Starkey which I purchased in 2020. I am very pleased with their performance and features with one big exception. That is the length of life of the batteries and cost to replace. The batteries were replaced once while under warranty at no charge but now that they are out of warranty and they need replacing again, I discovered that Starkey charge $350 to replace each battery..
My local supplier has advised me to clean the contacts with contact cleaner to make sure they charge completely overnight. I do this and also check on my phone each morning to ensure they are fully charged. I have found some improvement but still the batteries do not have sufficient charge to get me through the day. I get about 10 hours. To replace the batteries the hearing aids have to be sent to Starkey in Minnesota. They cannot be changed locally. These hearing aids work exceptionally well, but are also very expensive to buy. To charge $700 to change batteries on top of the annual charge for premium service of $299 is outrageous. I will be carefully reviewing my options before buying another pair.

I took her advice based on the fact that I really didn't care to have only the in-ear because it may not be something so, I went with the model both covered by my insurance as well as which we agreed to after talking with the audiologist. For the most part, the hearing aid performed very well. Every so often, it has a tendency to lose Bluetooth connection and I have to re-pair it. That's been my only complaint about the hearing aids. I still have problems in noisy environments hearing things. But beyond that, everything's fine.

I liked Starkey Hearing Aids for my husband better in the beginning. He got them a few years ago. The hearing aids are easy to put on. My husband hears more with it on than not. But the hearing aids are not as perfect as they used to be. My husband had a new test done. There hasn't been any change. Also, he would constantly adjust it. We keep on going back and forth to the audiologist. He complained that "S" is a very “shhh—shhh” kind of sound. And each time when he would put them on for him to what he hears balanced, he would have to bring up the app and tweak it, which can be done. We just do it on our phone. But he would be, “Why the hell can't it hold it the right way?”

We ordered it and when it came in, she spent a good amount of time adjusting it for what I need. Also, she showed me how to adjust the volume and how to look at it online and she made a recommendation that if we wanted to really tweak it well, to come back in rather than try to adjust it on my own. I got my first hearing aid in 2012. It was a Starkey and I loved it. I temporarily lost it but found it the next morning. I put in a fresh battery, and it worked though it sat through a storm outside in the dirt. I wrote them a letter to say the hearing aid is wonderful and they gave me one. They were very happy with how happy I was. They sent me to Ascent Hearing to have a hearing test, and there's been a lot of follow-up. I even brought in my old one and they checked it out. The rep also offered me a choice between battery or charging, but because I tend to lose electricity here a whole lot, I chose the battery.
Starkey has been incredibly nice to me and their products are meant to last. The hearing aid that is now 12 years old still works fine. All I have to do is change the batteries. The difference between a 2021 hearing aid and a 2012 is considerable in terms of what I'm finding that it can do. It feels more natural in terms of what I can hear. I have a very significant loss such that I can turn it as loud as I want without worrying. It's also very easy to pop it into your ear. I like the design and that I can change the volume on it with my phone, which is a lot easier than trying to click something in the back of your ear 'cause you never know whether you're clicking up or down. It also has the capacity to sense when I've fallen if I allow it to and notify someone. They're expensive but we're not just paying for an item, we're paying for the kind of research it goes into to get all of that technology into it. I appreciate the incredible technology that's in that tiny thing.

They're all educated and they all work, so I take their opinion as though it's rock solid. And not only that, lo and behold, it was right in our hometown. So, it couldn't have been any more convenient. We got the hearing aids for my wife. They work. We don't use the software that comes with it where you can sit there and custom dial stuff. It's harder than you think because my wife is wearing them and she can't really communicate. So, it’s very difficult to use any app like that. My wife seems to be happy with the hearing aids. When she puts them in, she hears everything. But she doesn't wear them all the time. She wears them when she wants to wear them. It’s easier for her to turn the television up.

My granddaughter was singing somewhere last week, and I went and there was a bar and everybody at the bar was part of the chorus. It was so noisy. I couldn't take it. I just took them out. I asked if there was a way to diffuse the background noise because even if I'm riding in a car with the men and I put the window down, I can't take the noise of the traffic. It's so loud. Also if my daughter's driving and she says something to me, and if I don't have them turned up enough, I can't hear her.

I like the Edge Mode and that I can just reach up and press a button to make adjustments but I'm not totally satisfied with Starkey Hearing. They could be better. The biggest issue I have is picking up voices, especially my wife's voice. But some people's voices are sharper and they carry well and I don't have an issue when I stand and talk to somebody. One other thing is I got into a crowd of people, pressed the button and tried the Crowd Mode, and it was very frustrating because I couldn't pick up anything that anybody was saying. I just sat there and stared at the wall because I strained so hard to try to pick up what somebody said but it didn't work that well.
I still have some issues with hearing voices being mumbly. If I'm texting and I don't take the hearing aids off, then I realize that I haven't laid my phone down or shut it off, I can't hear until I do that. I don't expect a miracle fix. It's just something you have to get used to over a period of time. The hearing aids pick up noises that I never thought were around before, so wearing them can be a little bit scary to a point. Running water or flushing the toilet or walking across the floor can startle you. So, I adjust mine accordingly to where I'm at and what I'm doing. But they're a great help compared to if I didn't have them at all. Some days, it seems they work good. I stream my TV through a streamer, which I love, because otherwise I'd have to have the TV so loud that my wife would probably divorce me.

So, you go to edge mode and get rid of the noise level. All the bouncing basketballs go away so I can talk to the person sitting right next to me. I don't hear all the background noise. There are three different modes on there, the best sound, enhanced voices, and then the eliminate noise. I use it a lot. It's very simple. Without the edge mode, it's like sitting in a tin can when you're in a big building with eight courts going. Then you have to turn the volume down on your hearing aids because it's too noisy.
My hearing aids made my life easier. I listen to my phone on the hearing aids. I listen to music on my hearing aids. When I'm out mowing the grass, I put on the earmuffs to keep the lawn mower noise off and then if the phone rings and it's in your pocket, you still hear it. It keeps you linked with your phone. I change the filters out biweekly. I brush everything off. The filter is the main thing you gotta watch. I did have a little issue with one. So, I had to get the loaner a couple times. They're not perfect but once they get it resolved, they work fine. Every hearing aid company has a lemon in there, and I think one of mine was a lemon. Once I got that resolved, we were a piece of cake then. As far as the sales, they were straightforward, "This is what we got and this is what we can do for you."

This is my second set of hearing aids from Starkey and the ear doctor told me that the previous set that I had with the batteries probably was getting to the end of its expected life and if there were any problems, they might not be able to fix it. Every once in a while, I get an indicator that one or the other is low on chargeable life or running out of juice. It's odd because when I put them in the charger, it seems like they're charging. The lights are on, but yet, for whatever reason, I can be sitting somewhere at work and I get the indicator that the hearing aid battery is low. Sometimes, I look at the app and it tells me that it's fully charged overnight. I don't know if it was just a bug or maybe I didn't have it charged correctly. But that was just a couple of times since I've had them that that happened. Everything seems to be good over the last couple of months.
I still have my regular check-ups with the doctor who prescribed and ordered the hearing aids. So, every time I go in there, he always asks about concerns and he's always very good at listening or fixing whatever the case may be as far as the actual hearing aids themselves. I enjoy the time that the doctor spends with me and he seems to be very interested as well how the hearing aids are holding up. He always takes the time to sit down and listen to me. I've had the hearing aids going on almost a year and I'm still getting accustomed to them but I know what they do for me.
I have trouble with high-pitched sounds and the hearing aids help me hear better. I was, at one point, excited about the app's features as far as exercise and standing. But I don't have the most updated cell phone. So, for a while there, it was fun looking at the health feature of the app. But now, I don't even go in there anymore because it doesn't work on my phone. The doctor told me too that it's probably just my phone not being compatible with the app.
When I get a new phone, maybe the new app will work for me. But I wish it would work on my existing phone. I don't know if there was an enhancement done with the app but it's all that updated technology. They've been good other than the price. It's a shock, originally, when the purchase price is presented to you. I was the first customer to try the new one. So, I'm assuming that the new model, rechargeable as opposed to batteries, are more expensive. Other than that, everything seems to be going well.
Thanks for leaving a review, Lori. We recommend making sure the contacts for your charger and the hearing aids are clean and the charging cable is snug, just in case it may be causing an inconsistent charging experience.

I'm not happy with Starkey. I've had four sets of hearing aids, and I'm very disappointed. One thing that they've done with the new ones that I have today is they took them in and made it so if it rains or I sweat, they won't go out of commission. But it seems like every other month, they're going back to the factory. They're back to Starkey to be worked on or to be replaced. It's on and on, and it's not a good situation. I thought I was buying top-of-the-line. I spent a lot of money on this stuff. My next hearing aids probably will not be Starkey.
I've spent probably twenty some thousand dollars on hearing aids in the past 10 years and I haven't been impressed with any of them. I've received four sets of hearing aids and this is probably the better of them, but it's also the one that's been going down more than the other ones. But the other ones, if you went outside and you worked and sweat and you get moisture on your ears, they were done for the day. They’d have to be dried before you could use them again.
The speakers keep going out on my hearing aids, and both of them have been replaced three times in a year and a half. I would think they’d do a little better research on it before they put $8,000 hearing aids up that keep failing. Their Bluetooth is a joke. Half of the time, they don't work. Either people can't hear me or they can't understand me. They're only 6 inches apart. It ain't like a long way. Other than that, the place that I go to has been really good. They contacted Starkey and talked to them. All they say is that the speakers are getting dirty somehow.

Starkey seemed to be the better option as far as getting anything done so I purchased my hearing aids from them. It was great but now I'm having a little bit of an issue. I bought them in Louisiana knowing that I was moving to Florida. But to get service here, they want me to be a patient at 400 plus dollars and/or come in to get them checked or have new ear domes put on. It's gonna cost about 100 and some odd dollars. I haven't decided what I'm gonna do yet. Other than that, I haven't had any issues with the actual hearing aids.

My dad had been fitted with Starkey hearing aids and it was made free to him. He had other hearing aids he had been using and nothing was working for him. When he got the Starkey complimentary hearing aids, I was really impressed because they worked beautifully and he didn't feel isolated anymore. It made the last year of his life quality. So, when I started having hearing problems, I went out and got a pair of those. My challenge is higher frequencies and they drop that off for me naturally and bring the sound back up to normal.
I really liked the young guy I dealt with at Starkey. Everything was very pragmatic and practical. He answered my questions and put me in a hearing room, which was extremely quiet and where the hearing test is done. Then right away, we could look at the results. He was professional and things got done quickly with him. I like that can operate my hearing aids from my phone. I have an app and it is handy especially the more detailed things. The left hearing aid will allow me to choose the modes which might be restaurant or TV viewing. In which case, the back microphones are too sensitive or get shut off. And the front microphones on the hearing aids pick up really well.
The rep also taught me that with the interaction of voices of many people in the room, the higher frequencies tend to cancel each other out and the low frequencies win. So it's even harder for me. So then, I'm able to create a profile for myself on my app that compensates and that works pretty well for restaurants and weddings where a lots of people are chattering.

I've been using Starkey for 10 years now. However, the last one I bought is not as comfortable as the others. I'm not as happy with it. I contacted them and they didn't give me very many good ideas to fix the problem. One of the problems I have with it is that it falls out a lot. It doesn't fit the ear correctly. I've lost probably three of them. So it's been very costly to replace them. But the quality is good. It's just not as comfortable as it could be for what you pay for it. They also need the representatives out there in the field to work harder on making sure that it fits correctly.

I've had the Starkey Labs hearing aids before, and I know the guy that owned the local branch. I have partial hearing loss in one ear. The other ear just started losing its hearing, too. So, I bought a new Starkey set. Before, I only had one in my right ear. I got the latest version of the Genesis. It has Bluetooth and I can set the phone on the table and it will amplify the entire conversation through the phone and send a Bluetooth to my ears. They have a translate feature. You can set it down, and if you can't hear, you can read what's going on, and also translate someone speaking Spanish. It will translate the Spanish into English and I can read it on the phone. I think it will translate it into English in the ears. I just haven't figured that part out yet. It’s amazing.
Also, no batteries to change has been pretty grand. They got a little charging box. You just put them in there and it charges them and resets them. Everything's good to go first thing in the morning. As far as maintenance, you can take the ear buds off and clean out, and there's a little filter in there you change. It’s just like the rest of them. Just brush it off and you're done. These are water resistant compared to my last model. I love that, too. Sometimes, it ends up in the shower.
These hearing aids made things much better. I can hear small conversations when the wife is talking to me or one of the grandkids yells at me. I can hear what they're saying. The noise cancellation is not great, but it's really good. If I'm at a ball game, the background noise is still there. It amplifies it a little bit, but it amplifies whoever’s sitting next to me better than the background. Overall, they're pricey but the quality is top-notch.

My mother wears her hearing aids over the ear and she likes it. But it's hard to get it set and we live a half hour away from the nearest place that does that. They are moving a clinic to Independence so it wouldn't be as bad. But I wish there was a way we could do some minor changes at home. Also, she has a hard time getting them in her ears all the way in and this is partially because she has arthritis so bad. They squawk because they're not quite in. And I wish that she could do an in-the-ear one, but she cannot change the batteries because of her shaking up. If we could get those functions in the ear, that would be wonderful. But other than those, she can hear better. We got her one of the TV links to go with it so that it can run right to her hearing aids, although I wish that there was a better feature on the hearing aids for that. She can't mute it and it's not a wireless thing. She has to get up and mute it when the phone rings.

We discussed the different types of hearing aids and what my insurance would cover and what it wouldn't. They worked with my insurance and they got them to pay for mine. I didn't have to pay a dime. Whatever I need, they're right on it.
I have the hearing aids that sit on the outside of the ear. I had originally talked to them about the ones that are hidden inside the ear but they suggested that I go outside the ear. Starkey is a much better hearing aid all around. Starkey came out with new AI hearing aids which has a computer chip in it that's smarter and faster, so I upgraded to the newest type of hearing aids to help me hear more clearly. The new hearing aids are much clearer and much better at hearing enhancement for me. When I put them in, it was like the world was a noisy place again. So, it took me three months to get used to the louder sound level or the more active acoustic environment with the new hearing aids.
The hearing aids have a couple of settings, like a restaurant setting where I would be in a room with a lot of background noise. They have the ability to filter that out so I could hear people talking at the restaurant in a table. One of the interesting features is it will translate languages into English for me. And it keeps track of my steps. So there's a health component to it, a translator component to it, and the hearing aid component. That's the amazing thing in a little AI chip.
Starkey has done an excellent job in the new hearing aid design with the AI hearing aids, and they are better, smarter, and lighter. These are the first set of rechargeable hearing aids that I have had where I just put them in a case at night and they automatically recharge. On a full charge, they would go 48 hours before needing to be recharged again, which means the internal battery has a very long life.

Right now, we've got a few more times to come but we've almost used up the six free times that we could come and have the hearing aid adjusted.
Also, Angie had one problem with the hearing aid where the thing wasn't functioning at all. The lady put in a new transformer and now, it seems to be working okay. They also fixed the little button on the device that wasn't responding. But next time something happens, most likely, we have to pay $400 for an insurance plan on it and that adds up to quite a bit each year. That's a lot since we ended up paying $1,300 for the device itself. I thought I was getting more of a value than I did and I wouldn't purchase from them again if I had to.

I'm not too happy with Starkey. When I take the hearing aids out of the box, they connect to my phone. But if I get an update on my phone, I have to go back and uninstall the Starkey. Then I have to reinstall it so it works with social media like Pandora or Spotify so that I can hear those through the hearing aid. Also, when I get in my car, my phone disconnects from my hearing aids and connects to my car. Once I get out of the car, it switches back to the hearing aids but it won't play any social media and I have to go through the whole thing again.
This was $4,000 and here I am having problems with it. I've gone back to the place that does cleaning and the tech said, "I don't know why it's doing this." He gave me a card last Thursday because there was an update to download and when I tried to download it, it would say, You can't have the hearing aids on. You have to have them inside the box." So, I put them back in the box and I go back in, and then it wouldn't let me do anything. I finally got frustrated and told the tech that. He said, "Well, we could do it right here on my computer." So, he put them in the box, went into my hearing aids, and then did the update on it and everything else. So, he's baffled too because he's going, "I don't know why these things keep doing this to you."
The hearing aids work well if it's just the hearing aid part of it. It's trying to make them do everything else they're supposed to do that's difficult.

My Starkey hearing aid is quieter than the other one that I had which made too much hollow noise. I couldn't stand it, so I very seldom wore it. But when I put on my Starkey hearing aid, there was no howl noise. Despite that, when I have it on and I'm watching the television or I'm in a restaurant, the background noise still bothers me. Maybe I don't have the setup right. I need to know more information about it so I can benefit better from it. If you sell somebody something, you should make sure that they know what it is that they got. I know there’s a lot of benefits for my Starkey hearing aid, but I don't know them. I also don't understand some of the stuff that their reps were saying. Aside from that, the hearing aid was too expensive.

My hearing provider recommended Starkey. They're really expensive. But they are very comfortable and I like the Bluetooth connectivity the most. They have a charging case that plugs into the wall outlet. At night, I put the hearing aids in there and they magnetically click in place. I can now hear a little bit better directionally, which is the most important, and the volume of people's voices is, generally, louder. I'm completely deaf in my left ear, so just being able to hear somebody say something when they're on my left side. I can't really understand them, but at least I know somebody's talking to me. I can turn and look and be able to hear out of my right ear then.

I was looking for hearing aids because I couldn't hear anymore. I went to my local hearing doctor and he told me about the new technology. I thought he was lying until I received my Starkey hearing aids. I was actually really impressed. I was trying to get the hearing aids that are for inside my canal. But the creators couldn't come up with that kind of mold due to my ears being too small. The model I have is a little fatter and has Bluetooth. That's cool. I can hear everything while I'm still on my call and that is pretty awesome. These have been the best hearing aids that I've ever owned. Even though they were expensive, they were well worth it.
The hearing aids I had in the past were more like amplifiers than they were actual real hearing aids. I paid 1,700 for them and they were really low quality and they couldn't stay in my ears because I work at a really fast-paced job. I broke one and the dude wouldn't give me my warranty. He was trying to charge me more money. That was when I decided to go see a real hearing doctor and get real hearing aids. Starkey is way better and even the price is fair. Everything's been working well. I've had these a little over three months now and they haven't got out of my ear one time.
I charge the hearing aids and that holds for almost two days straight. When I went camping two weeks ago, I stayed out in the mountains for two days. I thought the hearing aids were gonna die on me but they actually didn't die until I got back home. As long as I don't hook them up with the phone or listen to music on them, they last longer. I have the Starkey app and they control my steps and everything to do with my health. It's pretty crazy because I always thought I needed a watch for that.

I have the rechargeable gizmos and I no longer have to use batteries. The hearing aids also connect with the Bluetooth on my telephone and they seem to work very well in my car. My telephone rings right in my hearing aid. I don't have to try to hear it, so I don't need to run it as loud, and it's not as offensive when others are around. The only thing is that Starkey changed personnel on me without letting me know and it was disconcerting to me.

This is the second form of hearing aids from Starkey that I've had that were recommended that I move to this level. But they're not as good as the old ones. The charger doesn't stay charged so that I wouldn't have to plug it in. It doesn't charge the hearing aids if it's unplugged. It's not a separate charger unit. Also, the little peripheral plastic curlicue thing on one of them broke off. That shouldn't happen. So, the speaker comes out of my ear easily. When I fuss with my hair, it can come out. Also, they aren't as loud as the old ones. I couldn't figure out a way to make them louder. But I need to go to the audiologist to have them give me how to do that.

My husband has the Starkey Hearing Aids that cancels the background noise. His favorite one is the restaurant mode so that he can hear the ones right there. He also has the one that can connect directly to the TV. Those are his favorites. It'll connect to his phone, too. He's had the kind that you have to replace the batteries, but he really likes this one that you just lay in there and charge. This hearing aid has made his life a lot better for him. It's nice he can hear me. The oddity of it all is that we have found out whether if I change my voice to speak higher or lower, my megahertz is in that range where he can barely hear. But everybody else in my family, he hears them just fine. The doctor has adjusted it to where he can hear me better. My husband has already recommended this Starkey to several of his friends at his assisted living facility and two of the people have gone and got Starkey hearing aids too.

We decided to get hearing aids so I could hear. I’ve had hearing aids from the VA. I've had hearing aids privately, and I have hearing aids from Hearing Lab. I'm not excited about the Hearing Lab, but I like to wear them to hear. A lady from Hearing Lab told me what to take, and I got Starkey hearing aids. I'm not excited about them, and I paid a hell of a lot for them. If I need something to hear, I wear it. I don't care if the hearing aids sit in my ear. I've also had two malignant melanomas very close to the ear, and I have different size crowns for my hearing aids, and I have custom-made things for my hearing aids. I go back regularly to my hearing aid audiologist. She adjusts my hearing aids, and she tries very hard to take care of me.
I have different settings on the hearing aids for private, and restaurants, and sometimes at theaters. Sometimes, I can't talk to people because I miss a lot, and other people with hearing aids tell me the same thing. I think it may be because I have wax because of what they did to my ears. These are rechargeable hearing aids and I’ve only changed batteries once. I have had these hearing aids for just a few months.

I have the restaurant, personal and other features on my Starkey hearing aids and it also has the Bluetooth option. The design is good but on my left thumb, I have a problem putting my hearing aid on my left ear sometimes. But the fit is good. It's fairly small and could be smaller yet so they don't see it in the back of your ear. You can’t tell you’re wearing it. I enjoy it and the only problem I have is the wax buildup. I have to deal with that once in a while. The microphone gets clogged. It’s small but the little bit of wax affects it. Cleaning is easy or I replace the piece. There's a little thing you pop off and you put a new one on.

I got rechargeable hearing aids. It feels like there are earplugs in my ear when I wear them. The battery lasts about 30 hours and I put them on a charger every night. They're supposed to be able to be paired to my phone so I can answer phone calls. But they keep telling me that I have a cellphone carrier issue which is why I'm not able to pair them with my phone and have conversations through my hearing aid. Sometimes it works, and sometimes it doesn't. That's the biggest complaint. Other than that, these are easier because the battery life is longer. Plus, the casings are self-enclosed, so the hearing aids are not exposed to moisture. They allow me to hear especially in loud environments where I've had trouble hearing in the past.

The hearing aids I have now are the AI 16. For the most part, I'll switch it to something like the streaming setting and then I sometimes use the meeting setting. I put them on in the morning and take them off at night and put them on the charger. Sometimes they do run out in the afternoon, so that would be after 8 or 10 hours. But during normal usage, I don't run out of charge.
They're fine but I mostly curse when I'm having problems syncing it with my Apple phone or other devices. If I wanna listen to some music, it goes to my television downstairs and I keep having to "forget this device" and then re-link it. Also, they're kind of invisible, which is kind of the point, but I have to remember to put them in and take them out. But other than that, it's a little easier that I don't have to put in like headphones and earbuds and things like that, especially when I'm at work. When the technology allows, I use Bluetooth to stream straight to my hearing aids and that increases my concentration.

Starkey was the third set of hearing aids that I had. I saw it at the hearing department of Walgreens in Chicago. I put the hearing aids on and they worked very well. The nicest thing about it is I go to the audiologist who sold me the hearing aids on a regular basis and they check my hearing to make sure I have the right setting. The left aid I had before was bad and Starkey sent a replacement. That was simple.
The first pair I had lasted five years. I just bought a new pair. Every year, I spend more money. I paid 6,600 for this pair. I have the buttons. When I'm in a restaurant, I can put it in restaurant mode and it drowns out some of the ambient noise. I can change the setting and make it softer, louder, or normal. I have also it set up on my iPad and I can make changes right on my iPad. When I was a developer and I had meetings and there would be 25 people in the room, I used to fake it. I have some tinnitus and the audiologist chose the newest model of Starkey hearing aids for me. I got the ones with the full ear mold and so far, there are some good and bad things about them. I'm not sure that I like the full ear mold, so next time I go in, I'm going to talk to them about it. My head feels full all the time and sometimes, I get a feedback with my hearing aids. They go all the way in the ear but I pull them out a little bit so I don't feel like my ears are all occluded. My husband has the same thing and he likes it. I put the hearing aids in at 8 o'clock in the morning and I don't take them out until 11 o'clock at night when I go to bed. I charge the batteries every night and their charge lasts for a long time, so I'm very pleased with that.
The hearing aids connect to a cellphone and has Bluetooth, which I love. The sound is very clear when I do Bluetooth but occasionally, especially with the radio, I get some fogginess. I've changed them to different backgrounds, which you can customize when you go in the Starkey app. The hearing aids listen to the background and adjust it. I've done that but that doesn't seem to help too much, so I'm not fan of their app. I tend to use my phone to control my hearing aids more than the app. It's much quicker and easier. Also, for some reason, the app doesn't always pick up my hearing aids. But nothing's perfect and other than that, I like my Starkey hearing aids.

I came across Starkey Hearing Aids from my insurance. I have the Federal Employees Blue Cross Blue Shield plan, and they do not pay for hearing aids. But they said that they had an outside contractor, Starkey, that would reimburse me up to $2,500. The hearing aids that I bought were the brand-new, top-of-the-line ones that were 6,000. But because of my insurance, I was considered a member which means a reduced price. The hearing aids were 3,000 which I had to pay up front. And the lady that I worked with helped me fill out all the paperwork that needed to be submitted. I'm just waiting for a check to see. It was a good deal.
I hear things that I never knew made a noise. However, I've been having some problems with the hearing aids that because it's the newest product, there are still some kinks in there. I lost hearing in the left hearing aid. It wouldn't come on. So, I had to send it back. And I got an appointment. It's next week that my hearing aids should be back and adjusted, and working fine. I couldn't ask for nicer people. I'm 81, and I told both the receptionist and specialist who worked with me, "I'm gonna be your problem child." Lo and behold, I was, because I started having problems with the hearing aids.
My only complaint is the app, which doesn't wanna hold in on my phone to adjust it. And I have to keep uninstalling and re-installing it to get it to work properly. They would tell me to do it and it would work fine. But the minute that I load that app, leaving it on and going to something else like to answer a phone call, it would lose itself and it wouldn't be there anymore. But the hearing aids themselves are great. They're easy to put in.

So, once I got my hearing aids, I started hearing again what I knew I heard earlier. People that I work with from Starkey Hearing Aids have been very supportive.
I've been having problems with one ear. Much of the first year, I had domes over the receiver to connect the hearing aids. But one was too small and fell out of my ear, and one was too large and would work their way out of my ear. So, we went with custom hearing molds. And with my right ear, it caused me pain. The people that I work with at the hearing lab worked very hard to try to get it to fit without causing me problems. After a while, they said, "We need a different design." And we went through it. After a while, they said, "We need a different design." So, we're still working on that. I called about an hour ago to say, "My left ear mold is great. The quality of the Starkey hearing aids is excellent and helps me hear better. However, I would appreciate a battery inside the charging port that would hold its own charge. That way, if I am camping, for instance, and needed to charge my hearing aids, they had that availability. It looks like there's plenty of room in the box of the battery to charge my hearing aids. But I'm not an engineer by any means. So that would be cool. I work in a loud environment and I would appreciate it if there was a noise-canceling or hearing-reduction option. So I didn't have to take my hearing aids out whenever I'm at work.
The quality of the Bluetooth is good. However, the range is extremely small and they don't reconnect very easily. Because of the program I set up on my hearing aids, I can't just hold the button down and turn them off and then turn them back on to re-pair. That would trigger a different program that I have set up. So the easiest way for me to reconnect both hearing aids to my phone and Bluetooth is to shut my phone off and turn it back on. The hearing aids themselves working as hearing aids are excellent and I'm appreciative to have an improved hearing ability through them. But I would appreciate having a focus on preserving what hearing is left instead of just amplifying the sounds around you. Because I intend on taking these hunting and I'm a little worried about dropping them in the mud or snow to switch to hearing protection if I have the time to do that.

I’ve always had ringing in my ears from about 15 years old on. I didn't understand it before. But I understand it now. I couldn't hear people whenever I would be out and trying to be social. I would have to raise my voice up and everybody would look at me like I'm an idiot.

When I take out them at night, I notice a huge difference. I love them, and I never knew I had hearing loss until I started wearing these on a regular basis. There's a device behind my ear, then it comes around and I place this little rubbery thing inside. There's also something like a fish line that hooks into the inside of the ear. In the morning, when I put my hearing aids on, I hear this hissing sound for about 30 seconds to a minute. The doctor said that my brain then tells me, "Oh, I don't need that sound" and then it stops.
On the right side of my hearing aids, it's the volume, then on the left side, I can press a button that gives me four features, including personal, restaurant, and outdoors. I tried the restaurant feature and it was probably better than the personal, but I did not notice a difference. I thought I was hearing more tinny sounds, but it's hard to tell 'cause I was in a restaurant. We were in the bar section, and the TV was going.
We appreciate that you took the time to share your experience. It's wonderful to read that you're noticing a huge difference.

The hearing aids I got have Bluetooth and it's easy to navigate using it. I might have gotten more than I needed and I sometimes think I don't need them but they help. It's a good product and I'm getting good service. They don't show much and they're easy to get in and take out. Also, it's nice that we go back and there's a doctor on site that meets with me. They make adjustments and make sure everything is working.

The quality of my Starkey hearing aids is wonderful. I can hear so much better on the phone. That feature is excellent. I may get the feature for TV. I still struggle a little bit with that. I also like the feature where you can put it for cars and restaurants. I love that it's chargeable too. It can hold the charge for the whole day. Their reps were also great. SoundPoint was where I went. They were efficient, friendly and welcoming. It's a good place.

Their customer service reps were knowledgeable, expedient, and really helped navigate the process. I like the Bluetooth features of my hearing aid. My favorite feature is the fact that I can change into focus mode. It’s called Edge Modes. I can put it to where I can hear people clearer in loud restaurants or just focus on the overall ambient noise. It’s good.
We're glad that your new hearing aids are helping your hear better and live better, especially with Edge Mode+!

Everything's more crisp and clear with my device. But I was shocked by how poor the Bluetooth Function was compared to other devices out there. I listen to audio books or phone calls and it's just not very clear. It'd be nice if the Bluetooth was stronger so you can walk away from your phone more than 10 feet and still be able to hear. Other than that, I like the size in that it's hidden. Plus the app is nice where I can change the sensitivity. The auto feature works as well as it sounds.

I did a massive amount of research and looked at a ton of different reviews before I made the decision to go in the direction of Starkey. I knew what I wanted and I didn’t want to spend extra dollars. My hearing aids are the old school battery kind and the little pod goes in the ear canal. I like how you can turn it up and down very easily. These hearing aids are of great value. I do insurance financial services. It’s nice to really hear what the clients are asking or saying without asking them to repeat it five times.
Starkey is amazing, friendly, and caring. They do a great job of staying in touch with me and making sure my appointments are right. I've had to reschedule before and they do a great job there too. I rarely ever wait more than one or two minutes beyond my scheduled time. I tell everybody about my wonderful mechanical ears every opportunity I get. I'm trying to get my dad to get some. Starkey should keep doing what they're doing.

Starkey's reps did a hearing test and got everything fitted. They also did follow-up repairs on my hearing aids. So far, my hearing is much better than without them. My hearings aids went bad right before the warranty was up but Starkey replaced everything and took care of that. That was nice, so I've gotten a little more life in them.

The hearing aids come in very nice and handy on shooting. I'm around helicopters all day, so I use them for that. I also use them if I'm on the yard and they work really good. The only downside is they turn on too easily. So, if you put them in the case and it hits the little tab, they turn on and run on, and sometimes when you go to get them, then they're dead. There needs to be some kind of safety on them and there needs to be a little two-step. That way, if you touch them when you put them in or if you close the case and it touches the on/off button, it doesn't turn them on.
Other than that, they stay charged a good while and I don't have any issues with the charge on them and the battery life. The cost was also good because insurance covered them. They're comfortable to wear, too. But there's too much wind noise. So, if you're outside and the wind's blowing, there's no way to cut the wind noise from blowing off of them unless you mute them or you play music.
We are glad that your devices are working well at protecting your hearing in your noisy environments! We are aware of the sensitivity of the power up button and are working towards a resolution. Thank you for your feedback.

The hearing aid performs okay but the reason I'm not wearing them as much as I should is that there is a sound that's like the wind is blowing in my ear and I don't like that, especially when I'm in the car. It's not a loud sensation but it's an interference. Also, I got the ones with the little batteries in them versus the charger. I wish I had gotten a charger because I almost never remember to pull out that battery and the battery life would last longer life if you pull it out. Other than those, it’s a nice set of hearing aids if I wear them. I hear a whole lot better.

I've had the Starkey hearing aids for three years and I have had issues with them. I go back, and they will take them, and then they will send them back and then send me new ones. But this has happened quite often with the Starkey. A couple of weeks ago, I went to them and they couldn't offer me anything that is like the ones I have when they have to take a hearing aid or both and send them back. They said, "Yeah, we'll get this fixed and we'll send it back." But these hearing aids are supposed to last six years. From the very beginning, when they started to not work and I had to send them in, it wasn't as if they would send my own back. The ones that I have in my ears right now, I have no idea how old they are. They're not my originals. I told this to them when I was there, and I'm going to tell them again when I pick it up. I'm not really a fan of this brand anymore.
When you pay this much money for something, they should last. I should not have to go without them. I should not have to keep going in to get them fixed. I'm just struggling with that part of it right now. My warranty ended a couple of months ago, so I'm about to embark on getting a new service plan or a warranty. But I love the hearing aids. I love that this happened. It changed my life. There are so many things about them that I do love. I love that they're small, and that they charge quickly, I love that they help me do my life and my job. I also love the way they work with my app.

I bought the hearing aids from NuSound. I had planned to buy it at this wholesale house. But NuSound told me that they would match that price, and they had a continuing service plan that for a fee, I would be provided batteries, and about every three months, I go in for earwax cleaning as far as this plan. So not only did I buy the hearing aids, but I bought a service plan. I've been very pleased for doing so. I can hear quite well with the hearing aids so I’m pleased with it.

Starkey's reps were good and very prompt. The only thing is having the hearing aid is funny. When I'm here in the house, once it's quiet, I don't need it. But when I go out into the world, when I do need it, it helps. It's just not nearly as good as natural hearing. Everything is good except these things are so freaking expensive. One costs like $3,400. I was wondering with the new regulations coming out on hearing aids if the prices are gonna come down.

The hearing aids worked fine until my batteries quit on them. I found out I gotta send them off and pay $150 to get new batteries put in them. They only guarantee the hearing aids for six months. I have no problem with the product. But I'm not gonna pay $150 every time I need batteries. That's ridiculous. I'm very dissatisfied. I paid $2,000 for those things. I felt like I was led down the wrong path on them.
Hi Kenneth - Thanks for sharing your experience with us. It is very unusual for a hearing aid battery on a rechargeable model to go out so quickly. The rep from Starkey was very nice. I really like her, and I prefer her over any of the others that I've come in contact with. She's very professional. She seems to know how and what these hearing aids do. She knows the product really well. My hearing aids go behind my ear, and the bud goes into the ear. They made things much better because now, I can fully participate in conversations, which I could not do before. My husband has a pitch in his voice that I was able to always hear. So, I could always understand what he was saying. I would just look at him and say, "Am I supposed to be answering something here or what?" He would nudge me and say, "Oh, yeah." I'd answer. I don't have to do that anymore. As a matter of fact, when he talks, I have to turn my hearing aids down.
Also, my hearing aids made things a lot easier. When I visit my kids and they're watching the TV, their sound system is different than my sound system, and I can still hear what's going on on the television. Plus, I am able to keep up with the conversation in the room. They've been really good. With the first hearing aid that I had, I would have problems here and there. I had to send them in because I was getting a lot of feedback into my hearing aids. Now, I was a little disappointed that they charged me for that because I hadn't had the hearing aid that long. The ones that I have now worked a lot better than the ones that were being repaired. So, in between the time that I got the repaired ones back, I got talked into buying better ones.
I ended up spending another $5,000, and they didn't credit me for the repair of the other hearing aids. They just kept the other hearing aids and said that they were gonna be giving them to disadvantaged people. As far as the representatives, they did a really good job. If people need it, they could try a pair of hearing aids and see what a difference it makes in their lives. Starkey has a good program to do that with.
Thanks for sharing your kind words. We're glad that you're able to #HearBetterLiveBetter.
