What features come with Starkey hearing aids?

Some of Starkey’s hearing aids come equipped with state-of-the-art technology that allows you to stream music and phone calls. These hearing aids also let you use the My Starkey app to control hearing aid settings from your smartphone. This controls three main settings:

  • Hearing Performance controls sound quality and clarity with speech enhancement features and noise control. It allows you to create presets for regular settings.
  • Information Assistance is provided through in-app support and information to help you adjust and learn about your hearing aids on the go. You can request remote adjustments to your hearing aids without needing to schedule an office visit, and the app can even transcribe conversations to your smartphone.
  • Smart Features like Find My Hearing Aids, Reminders, Translate and Transcribe can help in daily situations that turn these hearing aids into more than just a hearing aid. Your Starkey hearing aids could require several adjustments, so the company recommends staying in contact with your hearing professional during this period. This process of reacclimating to certain noises can be strenuous on the brain, especially if your hearing has been declining for a while.
  • Healthable Technology keeps track of your steps, daily activities and social engagement. It comes equipped with a fall-detection feature and heart rate monitoring.

Starkey hearing aids require a four-month adjustment period. This process of reacclimating to certain noises can be strenuous on the brain, especially if your hearing has been declining for a while. Your Starkey hearing aids could require several adjustments, so the company recommends staying in contact with your hearing professional during this period.

The My Starkey app also comes with the following features:

  • Adjust hearing aid settings, stream calls and even find lost aids with a variety of hearing control features.
  • Uses the science of the ear to accurately count steps, track engagement and help achieve well-being goals.
  • Translate languages, set reminders and take advantage of an array of features that make life easier.

Genesis AI hearing aids also provide the following benefits:

  • Reimagines the hearing aid from the inside out, with an all-new processor, sound, design and software that create a new patient experience.
  • The ability to mimic the human brain through the processor technology, Starkey Neuro Processor.
  • Make 80 million automatic adjustments per hour.
  • Includes the all-new Neuro Sound Technology which enables wearers to hear soft sounds without noise, helps distinguish words and speech, and reduces listening effort.
  • Connects to the My Starkey App
  • Available in IIC, CIC, ITC, ITE, and RIC styles and seven different color options.

How much do Starkey hearing aids cost?

The cost of Starkey hearing aids varies based on the model and features. Most hearing professionals offer hearing aid payment plans, so ask your local audiologist about payment options. You could qualify for free hearing aids or a discount through:

  • Your union
  • Your employer
  • Veterans Affairs benefits
  • Your insurance provider/HMO
  • A local charity

You could be eligible for partial or full coverage through Medicare or Medicaid. While most Medicare plans don’t cover hearing aids, you might receive benefits if you’re Medicare Advantage plan member. Medicaid often covers hearing aids for adults and typically gives full funding for children’s hearing aids.

Are Starkey Hearing aids worth it?

Starkey hearing aids are customizable and come in a variety of options. With the ability to easily adjust your hearing aids through the My Starkey app, they’re a great option for all levels of hearing loss. The company also creates a variety of styles to help fit every person's preference for appearance and comfort. If you struggle with hearing loss, Starkey hearing aids could be the right choice for you.

I was a PE teacher for 10 years and the background noise of the gym did some damage to my hearing. When I retired as a PE teacher and became a director at an early child care center, I realized that I could not hear the voices of the children. So, when I went and had my hearing checked and I explained to Robin, who did the testing, what I was experiencing after we did the evaluation, she said the range of children's voices is right where my hearing loss is.

Robin and I talked about the pros and cons of different hearing aids. Starkey was a good fit after she presented the different options for me. I really liked that I could use my phone to adjust levels of what I needed like if I was in a group situation, a one-on-one, or watching TV. I noticed that there are certain sounds that just aggravate me. I can hear furniture scraping on the floor. It sends me through the roof. I notice that I hear children better. I don't have some of the stress of trying to listen to a conversation anymore. I don't feel like I need to read lips. I didn't realize how much I was reading lips until COVID. When everybody had a mask on, it's, "Whoa, wait a minute. I'm missing a lot." These hearing aids fit well, and they were easy to navigate.

Robin has been absolutely amazing to work with. I would recommend to anybody. As far as pricing, for folks who don't have health savings accounts or insurance that covers it, it can be a challenge to get them. I was in a different situation that I was blessed. It wasn't an issue for me to get them. It was the best thing that I could have done because I didn't realize how much I needed them.

I had trouble hearing just in certain situations. My Starkey hearing aids made a slight difference. I probably could have done without them. I don't wear my hearing aids all the time, because I'm in a position that if I lose them, I'm never going to see them again. I just mainly wear them if I go to a concert or dancing, or whenever I'm around a lot of people. I like that when I go dancing, I can automatically adjust my hearing aids. I don't wear my hearing aids at work. I don't wear them at home if I'm by myself. I'm having a big issue right now. I can't log in and I can't use my hearing aids. My hearing aids don't connect, and I get nowhere with all the things that they tell me to do.

My wife has hearing aids from Starkey, through the places we get them, so I went there as well. I got the better pair. I got the rechargeable ones. Hers are old. She's probably going to need a new pair here soon. I got the behind the ear and then it goes into the ear. I can run it with my phone. I can hear better with it. The Starkey reps were very friendly and have always been able to help me. Anytime I need help with anything, they're right there.

Everybody had been telling me that I couldn't hear. And when I went and took my hearing test, it was true. I couldn't hear. Starkey was recommended to me by one of my wife's co-workers. I went with them, and since then, my hearing's a lot better. It's great. It's like a lifesaver to me because I deal with a lot of customers. So I'm very much grateful for it. The Bluetooth is excellent as well because that's usually where I'm listening to my music.

I was sent to Starkey through Medicare. They paid a portion, and I had to pay a portion as well. I spent a few months with whomever I was sent to trying to get them good for me. I finally left the company that I was sent to and went to another person, and she had been working before I left the office. I had to go back for some adjustments because I get a lot of background noise. I have an appointment with her again next month or in June for her to readjust.

After I left the company that I was sent to to get the hearing aids, they adjusted them every three weeks, but it was never right. When I went to Saint Luke's down in Kansas City, they got them to where I didn't think I was going crazy. They got the Bluetooth working, and they were excellent. The person that works with Starkey took a couple of times to get the hearing aids set right, but she had them manageable for me before I left the office that one day. She's a lifesaver. I like the people doing the job but I still don't think that I'm getting the full potential of the product. I also don't like the little plastic things that curl up around the inside of the ear once you stick it in your ear. But other than that, I don't have any problem with the hearing portion of it.

I got the top-of-the-line Starkey hearing aids. I figured if I bought the best one, it would give me the best results. My first pair was a different brand from a different place, and I had it for about five years. This pair from Starkey was considerably more expensive, but I didn't get better results than I did from a much less expensive pair. Spending a lot more money didn’t get me anything. My main issue is background noise and these hearing aids don't clear it up any better than my previous ones, which didn't clear it up so good either. The Starkey hearing aids are not doing what I requested. Customer service, though, was good, and the reps knew what they were doing.

My Starkey hearing aid does not work. It's a Genesis AI 12 and I gave $3,600 for one of them, but it's worthless. They said it would be the kind that had no interference. But if I have the TV on and somebody's talking to me, all I hear is the TV. It's an interference. They're not telling the truth. I'm not going to buy any more hearing aids.

I went through years of not hearing good and when I got my hearing test, I found out that I was percentage deaf in both ears. So, I decided to get hearing aids. Starkey was the brand that my work provides to have the best deal. I've had to take breaks from the hearing aids because sometimes I just get over-inundated with sounds. But other than that, I can hear conversations better and I like the Bluetooth connection. I can listen to music or podcasts. The only thing that I would change is having a microphone in front instead of in the back. I went to my daughter's musical and all I could hear were little kids behind me chatting instead of what was going on in front of me.

The sound quality was not as natural-sounding but I like the way that the hearing aids felt in my ears and they're comfortable to wear all day. The biggest issue is the wind noise. If I mute the hearing aids while walking outside, they would become unmuted, so I would have to keep re-muting them. They also picked up too much wind noise, and I had to take them out of my ears to open my car windows. And I didn't like that. One of my hearing aids died, and it won't recharge. I've contacted the hearing place a few times, and they haven't gotten back to me about what I should do. The hearing aids are only three years old at this point, and with how much you spend on them, the battery should not be dying. People should look into other brands if they’re interested in Starkey.

Extremely disappointed with my Starkey Genesis. My right unit produces a sound like a motor anytime it is processing a sound. In dead quiet, nothing. My dealer sent it back to starkey. 2 weeks later I got it back, not fixed. They should have replaced it. My 1st time using hearing aids. I would switch to another brand if I could. Also could never get them to connect to their Bluetooth tv transmitter. Frustration and disappointment.

For some time, my husband had not been able to clearly understand what was happening on the phone or in person. He simply wanted to be able to understand conversation and phone calls better. When he received the hearing aids, he asked me to go with him. Then I also came along one more time beyond that, when Starkey was kind of testing to see how well he understood me. But I don't see that the hearing aids help a lot. Some of that has to do with the fact that he'd lost a lot of hearing and was not going to regain it.

Starkey Hearing Aids did a good hearing test. The people were competent and I decided to go with them. I went through several pairs of hearing aids. Once I bought my original ones, there were mechanical problems with the hearing aid that I had to have fixed, and Starkey was very receptive and friendly. I don't enjoy having to stop my day and get new hearing aids. But after that, the ones I currently have have worked very well. I go to a practice in Albany, New York and the person I dealt with is new to that practice. She did some adjustments that were good and I'm positive with her treatment. So far, so good with the hearing aids.

The hearing aids are on the back of the ear with a wire and a microphone that goes into my ears. They're comfortable. I charge them every night. On an average day, I run them to about 60 or 70%. Also, same as the other brands I've had, I can control it from my phone. Also, there's a self-check feature that's nice when it works. It's currently not working and I don't know why. There's a rattling sound right now. So, I'm not 100% sure that the product is better than others. But when they work, they work very well.

My experience with Starkey has been great. I do recommend the hearing aids because it does work. You’ll feel like you will not have anything in your ear at all. I've been somewhat disappointed with Starkey. I bought the new set at a store near Mercy Hospital in Coon Rapids, and my wife and I moved to Lake Elmo. One of the hearing aids quit working, and we went to a local Starkey dealer. They sent both hearing aids to Starkey for a repair. They came back, and I went to pick them up, and they didn't work exactly right. They said I had to go back to the original store in Coon Rapids and have them do some sort of computer setup with them and then I could come back to Maplewood and then they would fine-tune it. So, I have not used those hearing aids in probably two months.

I did a hearing test for a DOP. I failed the one ear, and then the other was borderline. They said I required hearing aids. I knew there was hearing loss, so I went in and got checked and confirmed that I lost about half of my hearing. I was permitted, through my union, to receive hearing aids that they supplied. I went, and Starkey was the one I received. They are compatible with my phone, adjusting crowd control, and blocking out a bunch of the traffic noise. They seem the best fit for me.

I didn't know how bad my hearing was until I got the hearing aids, because it was just a slow decline over the years that you don't realize what you lost until, all of a sudden, you can hear again. I just couldn't understand what people were saying. Especially during the COVID time, when people wore masks, I couldn't read their lips, so I really didn't know what they were saying. I've had the hearing aids for about a year and a half now, but my life's definitely better. I hear conversations and hear what's going on. I'm not just sitting in the background listening to a bunch of mumbo and not understanding anything. I have a lot more interaction with people now.

Everything's more crisp and clear, so I don't miss a conversation. And when I'm at dinner, it's more focused on who I'm with instead of trying to block out all the other chaos.
