While paying my bill at Planet Fitness I set my phone down and forgot to retrieve it at the main counter. Later when I got home I used a location app that told me my phone was at the gym so I went back the next morn and phone gone. Camera review employee took it and wiped it clean of all information obviously to steal it. Had to go buy a new phone because he removed the sim card and every ounce of info on my sd card. The manager told me he terminated the individual but I haven't received a call from anyone despite giving him several numbers he could reach me.

I quit last week because Planet Fitness allows transgender people who are biological males into women's locker room. I refuse to be a part of that; that is not safe for women or respectful of their privacy. Who is to say a sex offender doesn't claim to be transgender and get in the women's locker room? This is extremely irresponsible and dangerous of Planet Fitness. When I went to cancel my membership, they kept telling me this was the corporate office and that they were different, but if that happened in Wilmington, they are still under Planet Fitness and still would have to do what the corporate office said. I also called the corporate office to let them know the reason I quit, and they were just like, "Okay," which was further proof they could care less about women. I would give 0 stars if I could.

I used this gym for one month. Came in twice a day. Cardio in the AM and Weight Training in the PM. They sold me a $5 lock to utilize their lockers. It was never mentioned to me that you can't leave your locker unattended and I didn't see anything posted. To my surprise that night, my lock had been cut off and my personal belonging thrown away. I complained to manager, he offered his used headphones. I asked to get out of my contract he told me no. Contacted corporate multiple times and never got a response. Put a stop payment on the checks and the manager went out of his way to charge me again. Incredibly unethical.

I joined Planet Fitness based upon what my needs are when it comes to staying in shape. For the most part I use the treadmill for warm up, and then I hit the free weights. Other days I use the treadmill for cardio only. I discovered the yoga and bosu balls when I worked with my personal trainer from a previous gym I used to belong to. I found these tools to be great for working on core strength when I used the free-weights. I trusted that Planet Fitness just like the other gyms I have belonged to, that they have all their equipments in order, but unfortunately that was not so.

Perhaps I was spoiled from the previous gym with expecting a great workout with well-kept up equipment. Everything went fine until I was going to use my favorite tools, the yoga balls. They were all uninflated. I thought, oh well I can mention it to the front desk, and perhaps they’ll take care of it. I showed up for my workout several times, and each time I asked if they would be so kind to fill air in the yoga balls so I can use them. I finally got so frustrated that I asked if they had an air pump in order to fill air in the yoga and bosu balls myself. I was frustrated and I was thinking that I missed my other gym. After that day I got so discouraged about my work out that I didn't go back in a while.

When I saw that I was charged a 45 dollars yearly fee, I got angry. I thought I was paying for a badly kept-up gym. I called the corporate office and told them how I felt and asked if I could be refunded since I have barely showed up at the gym. They said “no way”, but that they would look into the situation with the bosu and yoga balls. To cancel my membership I had to go back to the gym in person where I was charged an additional 59 dollars canceling fee. They asked me why I wanted to cancel and when I told them why, they used their ridiculous motto The judgment free zone as an excuse for not keeping their yoga and bosu ball inflated.

I know that uninflated bosu and yoga balls aren't the worst that can happen, but I did join the gym based upon what I saw the day I checked Planet Fitness out, and on my previous experience of how great these tools are for a great workout. Moneywise it wasn’t a great loss, but this isn’t about money. My complaint is about not keeping up on their part when it comes to keeping their fitness equipments in shape, since I made a business decision based upon what I saw when I joined. My complaint is also about how rude and unprofessional the management was when I stated my complaints.

What I got out of this is that you get what you pay for. I was paying a lot of money at a previous gym I used to belong to, at Sports and Wellness, but then again, they were great. I know that no place is perfect, but nobody likes badly kept-up fitness equipment at a gym. My advice to people are, stay far away from Planet Fitness, and pay the extra money for better quality in both, management and, safely kept-up fitness equipment and gear, at a better quality gym.

One year later after reading credit card statement I see I'm still be charged $150 later all because of negligence of employees to properly inform members of cancellation requirements.

On 3/17/2015 I stepped into your gym in Hawaiian Gardens, Ca, as I had done weeks prior (at least 4-5x a week) and as I approached my recumbent bike as I always had. ** tells me that the gym bag I received from your company at initiation, the same bag I had always brought in every single time I came in, was now no longer allowed on the gym floor. I was surprised by this, but I obliged and placed my bag inside my car.

When I returned I noticed that other gym patrons had the SAME EXACT bag, next to them, and on the floor. When I asked ** why those members weren't having the same "rules" enforced, ** the "General Manager" stepped in. He told me that recent events of MEMBERS ITEMS being STOLEN has led them to enforce the rules more strictly. Rules that are not included in their Membership Agreement or at sign up.

** then asked me to point out members who also had a bag. I was able to point out several and he approached 1. Why is he even asking me about other members? Shouldn't his job as General Manager be to do rounds and enforce these so called "rules" that are applied selectively. He tells me another member was allowed to have his bag on the floor since he was leaving anyway, even though it proposes the same exact "danger" of someone falling over it as someone who has their bag right next to them as they work out - as I always did.

At the end of the day, I moved from Hollywood about 6 months ago where I lost my first 100lbs at 24hr Fitness Super Sport on Sunset Blvd. When I was forced to move back due to a family emergency, I thought it was great that a gym was so affordable and local to my new location. For the past several weeks I have been going into your gym and trying to lose my 2nd 100lbs. I do not need these types of distractions; I simply come into your gym to work out. You guys advertise "No Gymtimidation" but as soon as I had the incident with **, he immediately went back behind the check-in counter and I could see from the lifting mirrors that he was laughing with his employees. Professional, real professional.

This is a true testament to the culture happening at Planet Fitness, not what you guys advertise. On 3/23 ** the regional manager called me. Pretty much to waste my time. He called and didn't even have anything to say except that he was calling as a "courtesy" to "back up his manager". Seriously? Don't waste my time. This update is a "courtesy". On 3/27 they cancelled my membership. I walked into the gym like I had done every day this week, scanned my membership, then the girl looks at me and says my membership has been cancelled and grabs this yellow notice off the wall.

In NY for a family emergency & stopped to see if during the 2 months am here I could pay $10 a month to use their gym. Took my card, registered me, then told me I could use but it will be $5 a day. In my opinion, much too unreasonable. Imagine paying $150+ for a month!! I expressed my disbelief & the "manager" in an arrogant tone told me that was it, nothing more reasonable could be done outside of me signing up for $110 for the month. Age discrimination.

I did everything I was supposed to do and saw I still got charged for March. I called and spoke to an extremely rude man who told me it looks like I haven't been cancelled yet. Told me to call back the next day so I did that. I then got told to call back again to talk to a manager. These bed are Temp out of service so often, at least one of the two beds weekly. Several weeks ago when I went to use only working bed, the girl behind the desk told me she was "saving it for **." These bed are on a first come basis, or are supposed to be. I complained to the manager, was told she would talk to the employee and I was given access.

Today, another bed is temp out of service, when I went to sign up, the same employee told me she was "saving it for **." I was extremely upset as I had been waiting for this bed to be available for over an hour. I spoke with **, the manager, who again said she would speak to the employee, was busy with their new card system, and if I wasn't happy I could cancel my membership. Equipment in this establishment is always in poor repair, the water fountain is also temp out of service, it does not drain properly and hasn't for a long time. So if $10.00 or $19.00/month seems too good to be true, it is, if you enjoy rude service employees, broken equipment, and not receiving what you pay for Planet Fitness is the place for you.

I have been a member of Planet Fitness since 2006 when the Centereach, NY location newly opened. I am outraged of the amount of theft in this location and yet nothing is being done to take care of it. I am aware there was an employee who no longer works there that was stealing, and I am aware that there are members that are stealing. In November my keys were taken to get into my car and steal my Michael Kors pocketbook (which was locked in the trunk), all its contents, and thousands in fraudulent charges on my credit cards. Luckily the two responsible were caught and arrested, as this happened to me and about 4/5 other women.

Now, last night (March 12) between 5 and 7pm while I was working out, my North Face jacket worth approximately $200-$250 was stolen from a locker. When I notified the front desk, their response to me was "oh I'm sorry, that's been happening a lot lately." That is unacceptable! Why not have better security?! I know cameras cannot be IN the locker room, but there should be ones outside and by the front door. Not just for theft but for the safety of your guests, and your employees too! Maybe you need staff to check them more frequently or have a locker room attendant who just stays in there during the busier times. I know I am not the only victim and I think the way this issue is being handled is ridiculous. Something more needs to be done about it, especially when it is a known problem.

I filed a police report and when I attempted multiple times to call your customer service number and I could not get through to someone. I wish to be contacted regarding this matter. I am livid. I don't see any reason to continue being a member of this gym. This "judgement free zone" seems to be okay when it comes to criminals.

I'm not from the area, but went to this location to take advantage of the $0.00 and no commitment with the black card. But after the experience I had, I will gladly pay my fee and be committed for a year than to have to deal with a person like the following! I had the worst "customer service" experience in my life 2 days in a row while attempting to start a new membership by a person that identified himself as a "general manager", "a red hair tall man" for the Paterson NJ Planet Fitness location.

Day 1: He wasn't friendly. Was rude. Screaming at me for reading a sign posted about the hours of classes. All because my son was with me, we were no where near any equipment and a few inches away from the front desk. Instead of him advising me that non-members or children weren't allowed beyond a certain point, he screamed it across the club and continued to speak over me advising me that it was a "liability" for my son to be by my son reading a sign (my son is 13 btw) which I know is the required age for a child to join. Didn't show me what my options were but instead asked "what I wanted". Had to explain that I wasn't familiar with the plans and didn't know what to choose from. When handing a check he forces it back at me telling me "we don't accept credit unions".

Day 2: I couldn't pass up the promotion so I attempted again, hoping someone different would be at the front desk and thankfully there was, or so I thought.... Not even 60 seconds after speaking with a representative did the red head man come over and whisper in the young lady's ear to be sure to verify my son's age.... I kindly advised him that I had enough of him yesterday and wasn't here to deal with him today and how I would like to deal with the young lady. He became very irate again advising how "he is the general manager", how he could kick me out and on & on. He went until someone else came and escorted him off the floor until I exited the building.

If this man is a general manager, I feel sorry for the people that have to work for him and I feel sorry for the experiences other patrons may experience at this location because of him and his ways. This type of treatment is not necessary and is in no way, shape or form the way that customer service should be conducted!

Planet Fitness may want to think about requiring some type of customer service courses for its employees. This man made an entire scene 2 days in a row at this establishment. This man was very rude and his behavior was uncalled for. At this point i'd rather go else where and pay the fess or may consider not joining planet Fitness at all. I don't know if this review will be seen by anyone in the corporate office but I hope it does.

Finally a letter was sent to the gym I always went to on November 1, 2014 to be effective December 1, 2014. I sometime toward the end of November closed my checking account and opened a new with a credit union.

I am extremely GRATEFUL that I CLOSED that account. P.F. has refused to acknowledge that I cancelled the membership and kept trying to take money out of my account. Tried calling them, you get voice mails, leave a name and number... they do not call. Instead they send me their little pink paper every month where they keep adding monthly fees and bank charges... Bank charges every month on an account that has been closed for four months?? PEOPLE DO NOT TRUST THESE PEOPLE with your FINANCIAL INFORMATION... And be warned ahead of time they completely ignore cancellations. I have tried to straighten this up. How do you do this when the corporate office cannot even return your phone call. I actually called the gym directly and inquired as to their services. It was recommended that I purchase the "Black Membership" as tanning, massage and a personal trainer was included. (I had not been in the gym for a few years due to health issues). So, I signed up with a year contract. (payments taken out of my checking account).

The first day I went to the gym, the staff was rude. Acted as though they were "put out" to my questions as to the machines. Further, I signed up for the "included" personal trainer, as again I hadn't been in the gym for years and wanted to get some training. (Remember, a trainer was included in my membership). At the time I was to meet with the trainer, he was a no show and out of town, but the gym didn't have the courtesy to even call and tell me. I rescheduled, which again, showed up and the trainer was again not there and yet again, no courtesy call from the gym.

The third time I signed up for the trainer, I was sent to a table downstairs. Only to then learn that there were 3 others who signed up at the same time and it was a "first to sit down" type service. I sat for an hour, waiting for my turn, only to be informed that the hour was up and the trainer couldn't help me. I went to the front desk and asked for a manager, who was never available and never got a phone call. I never returned to the gym.

Secondly, the tanning beds are a joke! The "massage" that is included in my membership turned out to be a aqua massage table. (I guess technically, that's considered a "Massage".) Needless to say, I contacted Corporate inquiring as to my canceling my membership. Of course, got the "there will be a penalty". And, although I attempted to cancel online, the same manner I signed up... that was not possible. I was directed back to the same gym who treated me so badly.

Long story short, Planet Fitness got paid for 11 plus months on an account that wasn't used more than three times. They ignored complaints and didn't have the courtesy to even call a member with concerns/complaint. As far as I'm concerned, they breached the contract with me the first week yet refused to make it right.

I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone. Corporate was contacted and I was just referred back to the gym and am still waiting for that call!!!

3/9/15 I came into Planet Fitness and there were 2 employees at the desk, one was on the phone and stayed on the phone for the whole 45 minutes I was at the facility - I requested a massage bed, 1 was broken the other two were overheating. The one I was in overheated so much that my body ached more than soothing. I had signed in for a 9:00pm tanning session, they are 20 minute time differences so I sign in at 9:00pm, another patron signs in at 9:20, 9:40 and so on. I was at the desk requesting my time slotted tanning bed, the one employee was still on the cell phone the other employee had 8 beds that she had not cleaned, by the time she returned it was 9:30. She asked what bed and I wanted and I said “none”, the line was backed up for the tanning beds and no one was getting their beds in the time slot they requested.

And the last thing, and this is making me also go to the bbb and file a complaint, there were minor children (under the age of 10) running around the facility, unsupervised and playing on the dangerous machine. I can tell you I am more than angry not only to see the perks of being a black card member being able to use a massage bed and they are overheating but the wait time on the tanning beds and children running around unsupervised. I am not sure if they have changed management but I will not be returning to this facility ever. They also say that certain apparel is not allowed but there were booty shorts and spaghetti strap shirts being worn, people on cell phones sitting on machines and not working out but tying it up for everyone else’s and the employees just walking by doing nothing.

The clientele also has changed and the facility is no longer kept clean and organized. I think someone needs to come in and clean up this facility. I also heard other people saying they were cancelling their membership or either locating another facility. Broken beds, lazy employees I can deal with but children under the age of 10 running around playing in dangerous equipment I refuse to deal with.

Tried Planet Fitness with my daughter before she left the country. After she left, I went in to cancel our memberships. They asked for the tags, which I turned in, and I gave my phone number if there were any questions. Every thing was friendly and I did not anticipate any problems. Four months later I realized they never closed the accounts. I went back, and they closed the accounts, but refused to refund the $140 they had taken (4 $10 monthly fees and a $30 annual fee from each of us). At one point, they tried to say that my daughter continued to use her membership, which was ridiculous, as she was out of the country. They made no effort to rectify the situation. I contacted BBB, but they were no help; they only verified that the account was now closed. I realize I was naive, but they should not keep that money.

I joined Planet Fitness in 2013. Just recently I observed that the $10 monthly fee did not come out of my bank account. I recently had a bank card compromised so Planet Fitness did not receive my $10. I went to Planet Fitness to resolve the issue only to find out that I owed $80. Planet Fitness had not taken a payment since October. Then they told me I could not cancel my membership unless I paid $80.00. I asked them why didn't they send me a letter stating that they could not get my payment due to not being able to get it from my card. I would have been more than happy to update the information. With just $10 a month we sometimes overlook funds like that coming out.

Regardless the representative told me that I didn't write a number for them to call me. I became angrier because I thought, there was a representative there when I first opened the account. Certainly they would have told me to add my phone number. Regardless, how can a company not inform you that they are not getting your money and yet let it add up for 5 months, and just continue to charge you double. Then, tell you they can't cancel your account until you pay. So If I would have never gone to Planet Fitness today to resolve my issue, it would just keep adding up?

I called my local Planet Fitness here in Fairbanks, Alaska located on 1255 Airport Way, zip 99701. I spoke to one of their very sweet young sales ladies, polite, who answered my questions about their gym facilities. Then I asked prices and explained my age, I was disabled, fixed income on disability so was looking for the rate I had heard about of $10 per month. She said, "Yes, that is our first level of membership." "Great," I told her. I asked her about the membership cost. She stated, "A one time only $59." Again, fine. We talked a bit more and I told her that this was awesome. I could pay her over the phone right now and would pay with my MasterCard for the full 12 month membership.

"Oh," she says, "Sorry." I could hear a smile in her voice. I said, "Excuse me, I am confused here. Please explain...Sorry?" "Yes," and clearing her throat, she continues on, "Well, you can only join us by coming in person to the gym, filling out the application/form/contract and using your Checking acct and deposit slip to set up an account with Planet Fitness...It is stated in the contract. And yes, with a Checking Account, you most certainly Can pay for a full year upfront for a Special Flat rate of $199."

I explained to her again that I Do Not have a checking account, I am on disability, receive all of my funds into my special MasterCard account and there is no Checking Account attached to it. Checking Accounts charge all sorts of fees and extra charges and require people to keep minimum balances in them generally and the Government does not do that for those in its deposit program. My MasterCard works exactly like a checking and savings program for me so that I can go to any ATM to withdraw monies up to the amount I have in it, make purchase the same, again online, and even gym memberships.

Planet Membership fails to mention on its website or in its TV advertisements that a Checking acct is required for the membership...and in fact here in Fairbanks makes it sound as if we can come in and pay you a $10 bill each month for the use of the gym. To that she replied that "We very clearly state in all of our ads for more information to call our Gym at the phone number shown at which time we fully disclose to the membership fee of $59, annual fee of $29 and whatever monthly rate they choose." I really jumped on her about that, pointing out to her that she hadn't even bothered mentioning to me the $29 annual fee in the costs to begin with...how outrageous and misleading...what a scam they have going.

I also pointed out to her that by requiring a Checking account they are illegally, possibly in a certain manner, using this to sort out those with less than the best credit...something the courts would take a very dim view upon in the least! I told her I wished to contact the corporate office and to please give me their toll free number...so she gives me their 603-705-0001. I smile and tell her, "Do you not recognize that is Not a toll free number...toll free numbers begin with 800, 888 or some such similar numbers." She replied back, "That is the Only number I have for them." I am adamant, "It can't be." "Okay," she says, "I have this other one...it is 415..." and I cut her off (yes, that was rude of me, or at least impatient of me). I tell her that after what I just explained to her, did that appear to look like a toll-free number? Her response to me was, it didn't matter, she found me a second phone number...and I told her it certainly DID matter.

What mattered is this, and she should understand this -- When customers have issues, they should Not have to spend their own money to contact Corporate to make their very serious issues known to corporate. I told her I understood that the "Checking Acct requirement" was Not her fault, but failure to give me the full, correct pricing, upfront in the first place had been...and failure to tell me upfront...failure to disclose to every single customer who states that they want to join..."The very first thing out of your mouth should be the Qualifying Question: Do you have an Active Checking Account you are willing to attach to the membership? Because if the answer is no, there is no point in wasting either the customer's time or yours." I told her at that point I was disappointed in this entire customer service experience with her and would be contacting Corporate to make my complaints known.

When I did call Corp number given to me, since I was not a PF member and did not have the Ext of some agent there that I knew...it just put me into some blank, no introduced message box with a "beep" where I had to leave a message for them to call me back...I explained to them I had a very serious issue to discuss with them...also how disappointing it was that they could not take the time to answer the calls of non-members but only accepted VM...very unprofessional for such a great International Corporation. NEVER received a call back or response back from them. How sad...I have read other peoples issues/complaints about Planet Fitness since that time and realized that I have not been the only victim of their unprofessional tactics and practices and how Corporate consistently refuses to address them. How very sad.

Only then did I decide that I had a responsibility to let others know about my personal experience with Planet Fitness to give Fair Warning...Just Pass Them Up...Ignore their false ads. Just as many of their gym members seem to have experienced similar outrageous dealings with Corporate and the Local PF Gyms and Staff. When considering joining a gym, check all of the others out and I assure you (and first, before joining any of those, first call their Corp Offices as a non-member to see if they will even speak with the non-members... :-) for a truth test) then finally join after you have a legally trained pro with you to thoroughly read that contract for any hidden lines or uh-ohs...then, if cool, Go for it! Contracts cannot be broken...and a great gym with a great Corp Office who will support its members is invaluable. Thank you, All.

I'm not sure why this place gets such a bad rap, maybe my locations are just a lot better than others. The only issues I've had were trying to get my email set up, which hasn't been a big deal. If you'd just take a minute to read the fine print before signing contracts, a good half of these bad reviews would be defunct. I'd advise that before joining, read everything. As for the clubs, they JUST opened a new one a few days ago, and even despite having people crammed around the service desk getting information, they've been really nice and as timely as possible. It's definitely not a gym for people who are at a great fitness level, but it's an incredible way to get there.

Members of the staff are highly condescending and do not enforce the rules evenly. If the rules are enforced for one person they should be enforced for everyone. Cell phone use is allowed for some, not others. The 30 minute circuit some are allowed to go out of order, others are not. Lastly, my 24 hour gym closes at 7 PM on Saturday and Sunday. They close at nine on Friday. I am asking for a full refund of my $48.00 maintenance fee and this month's $20.00 membership. I am also demanding that my $60 termination fee be waived. I e-mailed corporate, and they said fixing it was not an option; I had to go in to my local club, which moved another 20 minutes away for its new location, and cancel in person, or I could take time out of my day to go to the post office and send a certified letter.

I contacted the local branch to see if they were rational. After I received an initial response, requesting more information, they never responded again to any of my inquiries. In addition, another reason I was going to cancel was due to being humiliated in the club. I was admonished by staff because I "put on too many plate" on the leg press and people could become "intimidated". The location has a red light machine that I have been trying and you need to make an appointment for. The location REFUSES to take an appointment over the phone. That is on me, not them. I went in November of 2014 to cancel my membership. I filled out a form and was told because I didn't hit the cutoff date, I would be charged for December as well. On 1/28/15, me an my friend entered Planet Fitness at the Pullman area in Chicago to workout together as we always have, most of the time not together cause we come with so many people. As we were working out, one of the trainers came and told us that we can't use gloves, then proceeded to have us thrown off the premises cause they thought I, a man 70lbs overweight, was a trainer, and said no trainer is here but the ones established to be trainers. This Is a poor excuse of what a gym is supposed to be. False advertisement is what happened here. The commercial says "no rules, just right," it seems to me that these rules were made up as the staff went along. When I asked for the headquarters number, before going to the better business bureau, the staff lied and said they didn't have one.

We contacted everyone that we are utilizing Planet fitness with and let them know we won't be returning to this gym/place of work out anymore, that does not honor their own contract. This was yesterday and already we are looking at another gym to concentrate on becoming better at heath by way of working out. The problem was that they assumed I was a personal trainer. Since when is working out with someone, my friend, make me a Personal trainer? It doesn't, I felt as if I was being Micro manage. The staff was very ignorant and hostile towards us for no reason. We didn't deserve what we were put through last night just cause we wanted to work out. I'd like a refund for this poor excuse of service... well at least the bathroom was clean. The consequences, they asked us to leave and gym that we pay by month to workout because of a mistake they made. Can I have my money back?

I tried to join Yakima Planet Fitness this day Jan. 27, 2015. I entered the facility at 12:03. A woman took all pertinent information from my bank slip and my debit card. She then gave me the rules, waivers etc. which I signed. When I returned to the desk she was gone and nowhere to be found. All kinds of people working the desk, not busy, no one helped me until I had to raise my voice over the din of course, I raise my voice. I'm old, half-deaf and disabled, and no one came to help.

Then one man got another woman for me who wanted my bank slip. I told her I had already given it to the woman, signed the thing, and was ready to go, just needed my membership card and pay the joining fee. She told me that was insufficient, despite the fact that the other woman told me it was all finished and just needed to be signed the upshot was. I did start to raise my voice after spending nearly an hour in there. I came back to find out if they had already taken the 10 dollars out and they told me if I didn't leave they would call the police.

So my conclusion is that Planet Fitness wants no one there who's old or disabled, so much for the "judgment-free zone". I intend to have my partner who recommended me to Planet Fitness and my pastor who is also a member as well as other church members. I intend to tell them my story and encourage them NOT to JOIN PLANET FITNESS. Of course, what a stroke of luck I found, an equivalent independent fitness place just down the road, who is the same price without the attitude or the rudeness. And in only 5 minutes I can only conclude from my experience there that if I had been young and in vibrant health I would have been treated royalty. How rude, how sad! What a bunch of liars!

The upshot as I said was finding a better place right down the street for cheaper, better service, and NO JUDGMENT! Planet Fitness needs to change their slogan, as well my partner and my pastor are on the way down to cancel their memberships.

So Brandon (shift leader) says that I will have to stop jump roping. He said that I can jump rump outside. I asked where. In the parking lot? I asked Brandon to show me in the member handbook that says that there's no jump roping. He said it's in there but he COULDN'T FIND IT. What do you mean you can't find it? I asked "Was there a member that was complaining about me jump roping?" He said "Yes". I asked "Who? Why of all of sudden in over 2 months of being a member I all of a sudden not allowed." He said he has to enforce the "rules".

So by the front desk there's this other member that has a cut off tee and he was in the free weight area and he is clunking and grunting while he lift weights. So I said to Brandon if you are going to critique my workout regiment what about that guy over there? He said "He's not your concern. Were discussing about you." They have a sign that says NO CRITIC. Well I says "THAT'S **". Because what Brandon just do is discriminate me from the other guy making clunking and dropping his weights on the ground. All I was doing is jump roping. OOH very intimidating. I don't even wear a cut off tee either. Of course the owner or the manager wasn't there which her name was Paige. I called her and she said that she was asked to provide a letter requesting cancellation. She did provide that in October 2014. I continue to be billed $21.24 per month even though she is not using their services.

One problem is they require you to create an account on line, but once you are a member you cannot opt out or cancel your account online. You have to do that in person by providing a letter requesting cancellation. The Planet Fitness website says that it will take 7 days after your request for cancellation before the account is cancelled. There is no way to contact the Franchise owner as the contact information is not provided to you. You deal with not very knowledgeable employees who only seem to know how to sign you up and not how to cancel your membership. You cannot cancel on the phone, but an employee will tell you that they can do it while you are standing in front of them, another employee will tell you to submit a letter requesting cancellation of membership.

Their cancellation policy is unfair and should be changed in favor of the member.

I then offered to pay cash for the whole year and they said only the $10.00 membership, could be paid off in full, not the $25.00 membership. I can add and multiply. I'm sure they have calculators. Why then could they not do the Math and charge me for the whole year? Who and their grandmother carries checks anymore... It was a waste of time and drive, very disappointing experience. I'll just go somewhere else.

During which she was rude and intimidating, I was afraid of her. I will never join this gym. If they are rude to you before you join, imagine how they will be after you join.

I went to one location and signed up. I had been in and they stated they needed updated billing information. I told them I knew that as I did not have a void check when I first came in. They took the check and I worked out. Roll to that Saturday, I go to the location closer to my house rather than the one near my work. The one by my house states that they cannot use my bar code keychain as they do not have the same system. They stated that they are a franchise and would have to call the "home location" to verify membership. Strike 1!

Then they call the other store and find out I have a balance. I state they did not say I had a balance when I was in four days prior. The gym I am in state they cannot accept me to work out if there is a balance. They cannot let me pay my balance at their store because they do not do that. Strike 2! I speak to the woman on the phone at the "home store" and she states she cannot bill my information as she cannot access it and that I would have to drive all the way out to their location to pay it. Strike 3! I am so done with this gym. I liked the facility and how user friendly it was, but if their customer service is this bad, not going to give them my money no matter how cheap it is.

So the Commerce Gym Planet Fitness - Commerce Township is advertising a special for new members... how exciting, right? I go in 1-11-2015 to sign up. Guess what? The front desk does NOT have any contracts for new members to sign. The alternative is to sign up with their ipad. Not a big deal you would think... except when you sign up "online" you have to give them a credit card # to pay the initial $1.00!!! Now mind you I am giving them my checking account info for the monthly membership dues... If the office HAD THE CORRECT PAPER WORK TO PRESENT TO A NEW MEMBER the credit card info would NOT be needed. I did not want to give my credit card info to pay the $1.00.

The BIG BOSS man had to be contacted by phone because the ONE DOLLAR issue was SO HUGE!!! And after waiting 20 mins for him to call back, it was decided that the offer of the membership special would NOT be extended until THEY GOT THE NEEDED CONTRACT PAPERWORK... and that the option of either waiving the fee or me paying cash or writing a check COULD NOT be done.

NO... I HAD TO GIVE CREDIT CARD INFO BECAUSE OF THE "ON LINE" SIGN UP!!! I would say there is not a lot of common sense coming from the owner of this facility. He lost a potential member over ONE DOLLAR!!!! Oh and at one point the janitor/front desk guy suggested I drive to another facility and get the paperwork myself and then bring it back!!! REALLY?

He says I'll have to pay a 58 dollar buyout fee! So after becoming angry, I go to my car find my contract and see it says 0 month commitment. After going back into the gym, showing the guy the contract, he then says it clearly states you have to pay continuously for 1 year....I told him that makes no sense - if I don't have a contract I can cancel at any time. He continues to argue with me and says I'll have to speak to his manager tomorrow which is a day late to not get billed! Needless to say,, while I'm typing this out the guy I had all this trouble with calls me and says he'll go ahead and cancel the membership. Never again Planet Fitness, never again!

There are a lot of people who don't have checks and for their own reasons don't have bank accounts and y'all are going to deny them the right to lose weight and feel good about themselves?? Totally hypocritical of y'all. If that's not judging, I don't know what is. I'm not a vain person, I'm a busy mom of 3 active kids.

I keep gaining weight and planet fitness was my only escape, I always felt comfortable going there but now I can't because I don't have a bank account or a checking account. My husband lost weight over the last few years going to planet fitness. It did wonders for his diabetes but now he's also not good enough to join anymore because of your "new system". When I told them I cancelled, I also sent them the same documents showing the date and they still continued to call me telling me I owed money - I explained that I had cancelled previously and did not owe anything as I had moved and my bank account changed so thankfully they couldn't withdraw further funds.. This is ridiculous, they still are continuing to say I owe them money and raking up monthly account fees every month because they refuse to accept my cancelled membership??? Seriously it shouldn't be that difficult to cancel a gym membership.

I committed to over a year and wanted to leave after moving and their closest gym wasn't near me any longer.... seriously a ridiculous way to get more money out of people! Also, it is nearly impossible to cancel correctly. I canceled twice, paid the $58 cancellation fee, and I'm still being billed every month. Every month, I have to call the bank and dispute the charge. These people are crooks. Don't be fooled like I was. It's better to pay extra to go to a reputable gym that won't constantly try to rip you off. Also, the equipment was dirty and often out of order.

Then once again with a harsh tone in her voice she said, "Excuse me, excuse me, step down here." In the eight months I've been attending this gym in Niles (regularly), I have never been disrespected in that manner. I used to be very active and worked out every night for about an hour and a half doing cardio and some minimal weight lifting. I'm a 21 year old girl and I had a workout partner for the first three months when I joined but then I began going on my own. Let me say I had to purchase and carry pepper spray on me because that's how much I'd get hit on.

I had a guy at planet fitness pull out my headphones from the machine I was on in an attempt to talk to me. I walked away and went to a different machine. The man then proceed to follow me and get on the machine next to me and try to talk to me. I had to leave because I was uncomfortable. After getting my stuff from the locker room I was stopped again by that male and this time he knew my FULL name!! The employee at the front desk had given him my first and last name. I would have said something to the employee at that time BUT it seems like every PF employee is ALWAYS flirting with a girl at the counter and could care less about their job. I ended up switching locations due to constantly having my workouts interrupted by males.

At the new location, an employee admitted to me that he had taken a picture of my butt and a video of me walking. I demanded that he deleted the videos and he did. There wasn't a manager working that night so I left. The next time I went in that employee was fired due to other complaints. That's not even the other times I've had problems with pictures at the gym. I also was told that a male who came into the gym was taking pictures of my butt. I was embarrassed that all these people at the gym were taking pictures of me. I NEVER dressed inappropriately. I always wore yoga/running pants to the gym and an oversized tee shirt.

There were also numerous other accounts that I picked up on: I had an employee tell me that he watches me workout through the security cameras and another employee make a reference to how fast I undress due to him watching the tanning booth control panel and seeing how soon I start the tanning bed.

I haven't even started on the facility. First of all, A LOT of people do NOT clean their machines when they're done! And if you're using those mats to stretch or do any other exercises, I've never seen anyone clean them when they're done! It's disgusting! And on top it, the lunk alarm goes off for no reason and you CAN hear it through your headphones.

The bathrooms are dirty and I refused to drink from the water fountains due to the fact that many people stick their gum on it or spit into it. I started getting really bad back acne from the tanning booths, and I KNOW this is where I got it from when I asked a staff member and they confirmed that most of the people thought the staff cleaned the room when they were done (in which the staff didn't) so people were using dirty beds.

Also the manager at my location was a complete jerk. I found that if you don't flirt with the employees they remember you and do not attempt to make you satisfied if you have any sort of complaint. It's just sad that they worry more about the pizza and bagels than they do about the cleanliness of their facility. My boyfriend is a certified trainer at a local gym but it only stays open until 9 pm and I usually don't get off work until 10:30 pm and just seeing the differences between the gym he works at and PF is mind baffling. Sadly, this is the only 24 hr gym in our area.

I'm just going to save my money up and buy some equipment for my home because I'm tired of going to planet fitness and being hit on. Why don't they pull the lunk alarm when someone is being harassed? I'm not saying every person who is getting hit on is being harassed. Maybe it's because I go late at night, but you know what? That's the only time I can go. I was told to "go at another time" when I was complaining. Excuse me? I can't go at another time! I'm a full time student and I work right when I get off school. I just really wish that someone would have advised me that people at PF would have pictures of my butt and I would be constantly degraded by guys who have nothing better to do at night then hit on a girl at the gym, before I would've signed up.

I really believed that people in gyms had a better outlook on this sort of thing... and I sincerely hope I can look past this and not think that everyone there is a lowly Petty Thief... BUT... I do hope I can actually catch the scumbag who would do this... and just Yesterday some guy came. Almost crying, to the counter to "Lock the Door..someone has stolen my coat and wallet.." Don't know what became of that but...(Karma..?) I'm hoping to find a better gym that has a better outlook on this sort of Childish behavior! Because.. the way I see it... P.F. doesn't give a damn about anything but making a Buck... But.. that's my opinion and what I see...

I selected their black membership, I did not realize I was tying in to a contract, I took this one because it had more services when I asked the membership rate they told me 10,15 ,20. I took the third one because I did not have to put anything down. They told but I would pay an annual fee of $39.00 every year. I agree, I was not told would have a cancellation fee if I wanted to discontinue. The problem began when I notice payment had not been taken out of my account. I checked every day for three days, expecting it to come out on the 18. Finally went to gym in Debary Fl. They told me payment had not been taken out. I question. I went the next day to pay I had to pay 31.00 I asked "why, my payment is 21.0," they said "you are late." I said why, they explained maybe they entered my hand written account wrong. I said I took them a copy from the bank with account information as requested, I asked why did they not update it.

Counter girl in Debary office explained it was done after the 10th. Therefore causing me according to them being late. I was never told anything about cut off dates and that I was not allow to pay cash, only by check and the only time they would accept cash is when it was late. Called the Orlando office, I question why was my account not updated when I took them the bank voided check. He could not answer and not to blame anyone, but yet I was being penalized which means to me I was already being blamed for their lack of updating my account and properly relating billing procedures. And furthermore it is not up to me was I give them what they ask for, to assure my account is in good standing if they don't follow their own protocol.

Then a few months ago they charge me twice for the annual membership fee. I questioned the employee at Wade Hampton planet fitness again and they still did my phone bank statement, they said there's no way that you're taking out twice.

At this point I spoke with four different employees and they're telling me that they did not overcharge me but they did. They finally had me give him a copy of my bank statement, discovered they overcharge me for a whole year I was paint two memberships on the laundry, oh Jim and Wade Hampton gym and they charge me the area membership fee twice. The manager only refunded me the $80 that I paid extra but never refunded me my $39.99 membership fee, they just froze my account. Two checks bounced because I told them that they're taking too much out of my account and they did not refund me for that.

My significant other Cancelled her membership over 3 months ago and membership fees kept getting withdrawn from account even after numerous phone calls to both local and corporate numbers. She was hit with almost $500 in bank fees for overdrafts because of these illegal transactions. Spoke to someone at corporate and was told money including overdraft fees will be sent back to her within ninety days. That has passed and when she called again, I was told that person was fired because she wasn't supposed to authorize that. Fees are still being pulled from account... She is at wits end here. Live month to month. $500.00 is a lot of money to lose...

So back in Sept 2014 my daughter joined planet fitness. To my surprise it was not an issue that she was days away from 17 and they allowed her to join. But whatever. The facility did not diligently put her banking info into whatever system so she was not billed. She was only there once anyways so just thought okay. Anyways she called to see what was going on since she had not seen a charge. Well they said “Oh sorry we need you to come give us the right info”. She owed 45 bucks. But she wished to cancel. They said it was another 60 bucks. She wanted to the do right thing, pay the fees. I said “No let me handle”, first time tried, no success just run around.

So I called up the next day, asked if I could take over the membership, was told yes. So rushed to get there because the only manager was there till 3pm, I had a meeting but rushed. Do all the paperwork, get the black card membership, pay her past dues. I am asking question “Why don't I have the black card?” Oh it does not matter. Then asked “Okay so I can tan use the hydro etc?” Yes and Yes.... Not even the manager that dealt with me and it was so imperative I be there for her. So I got today and ask if I can get info tour, “Oh we don't do that, it's not enough people to handle”.. There is nobody in there and your butt looks like it needs a walk around anyways but hey lazy young girl... I get told “Go to use the hydro”, get told “Don't have that black card membership”.

I am lost, I know what I signed and what I agreed to. They actually pulled out a contract saying I signed and it was different than what I signed. They actually had the nerve to alter the contract after I signed it. I laughed, they looked at me like I was stupid. Saying “Oh you can change it”. It's not the point. You messed up big time... You altered a contract. I had a copy and had it on my phone and showed her, she couldn't do anything or say anything but make a call. I said it was not the point that I was highly pissed at this point. And it will be fixed by the end of the business day tomorrow (Monday), if not they will actually hear from my lawyer (hubby) but it's the point. You don't do that to people. I do not care if it is for a less amount of greater amount. It's principle.

Joined this gym exactly one year ago. Went fairly regularly with no big complaints. Got a new job with an in-house gym so tried to cancel after 8 months. Called the place and was told I had to wait until October 1st to cancel, which I accepted. Called on Oct 1st and was told that I actually had to wait until the 29th of October, which I accepted. Called on the 29th and was told that I'd have to come in physically to THAT location or send in some certified mail. I said "are you serious?" and was told "then your membership can stay as is!" and promptly hung up on. These tactics that make it very difficult, even after a full year contract, to stop billing is why you should stay away from this place. They're nice as long as they know you're locked in. There is no reason why, in 2014, I should ever need to go to a post office for a gym membership cancellation.

I called my bank and explained the situation. They said they hear this about this gym all the time and offered to stop all future withdrawals, which I did. I then, out of courtesy, called PF corporate (I didn't want to get hung up on again by calling the original branch) and explained that I was cancelling and my bank wouldn't process their payments anymore. The woman I was speaking with immediately changed her attitude to complete ** and started citing that the "contract was legally binding" and that I'd be billed regardless and sent to collections. I said I'd be filing complaints online and hung up.

I had been a member of Club One at San Francisco and Center of Elgin Gym for years before moving to the neighborhood of this Planet Fitness after buying our new house. This is the first time I ever had gym related problems.

Back in Aug 2014, I went to the Planet Fitness in South Elgin to sign up for their $199/year promotional membership, as the other gym I used to go to was simply way too far. After a small tour and filling in the paper works, I was informed that I would need to have my checking account number as well as bank routing number, to activate and sign up the membership. Well as I only brought an ID and Credit card, so I was given a card with the address of a link on their website, and told to fill in the information there before I could complete the process and become a member .

I was out of town since then, about 2 - 3 weeks later, when I finally managed to go to the link and put in the checking account number + bank routing number and tried to finish the whole process, I received a message saying that the promotional deal had ended, and that my request could not be completed. At this point, I didn't think much of it as I thought this was basically the same as if something I tried to buy was out of stock, and that I would not be charged for it (WRONG!). When I told my husband about this that night, he got concerned and told me to confirm with Planet Fitness, as he had heard bad things about this gym from his friends and coworkers.

The next day (September 5th, 2014), I called their customer service and was assured that since the deal was no longer available, I would not be charged for it ($199.99). I thanked her for clarifying it and thought that was it, especially since when I control F and searched for 199.99 on bank statement, nothing showed up. So I believed her and never thought about it anymore (my mistake for not being more careful), or joining another gym since then --- as I had stopped menstruating.

Now fast forward to October 16, 2014, after my period had stopped for over 2 months, the first time I had some spare time to sit down and look at the bank statement thoroughly since the Chase security breach, I noticed 2 charges of 19.99 from Planet fitness, on Sept 17th and Oct 2nd. Feeling confused as I was assured by their customer service that no charge would be posted to my account, I called my bank to find out what's going on, and was told they would be happy to help me file a claim to get the money back and make sure this merchant won't be getting anymore money from my account (for a fee of 30); or I could simply talk to the merchant and have them issue me a refund. I thought sure, I would try that first.

Now comes one of the worst customer service experience I have ever received anywhere. She said her name was Darcy -- but would not give last name, and said they don't have ID number on their employee badges when I asked for it. Also said that they don't have a manager when I asked to talk to her boss. So No, I don't know if Darcy was her real name, it could even be the name of a coworker she hates, but let's call her Darcy for now.

After explaining to her what happened, and that I had called before and was told no charge would occur, she said the other employee had made a mistake when she told me I wouldn't be charged, because when I put in my bank info on their website, I agreed to their user agreement and had became a member and that she can not issue me a refund. I reminded her the website said that the membership deal was no longer available and my request could not be completed. To this she said "It does not matter. When you put in the information you had became a member", and kept saying the same thing over and over again no matter what I told her.

At this point I was getting frustrated and knew in the back of my head that I was not going to get anywhere with this Darcy person whom has no last name, no ID number on the badge nor a boss she works for. So I asked her if there was anything she could do at all, and got this: "No, the gym is a privately owned business, there is nothing I can do".

Now I understand why she never felt the need to apologize for what happened, why she has that arrogant and unhelpful attitude. It doesn't matter if the Gym gain or lose a customer. It will not affect her, especially since she can stay anonymous behind a phone. Who knows, maybe Darcy really is a coworker she hates. Me writing this review could be actually doing her a favor. After she tried to brush me off again, I Googled her establishment's feedback, and not surprisingly found 270 some negative reviews. I asked her if she knew there are 275 negative reviews already? She was talking when I said that so I don't know if she heard it. But after I told her that I guess she didn't care if I wrote down this encounter and posted my review for everyone else to see, and be the judge for themselves. She said "No." Silence.

I was quiet because I was getting very very upset and simply didn't know what to say when she said that. She was quiet probably hoping I had hanged up the phone. Anyways, our unproductive conversation ended with her saying "Is there anything else I can do?" Me: "I just want my refund". Her: "I can't do that, is there anything else I can do for you?" Me: "I don't think there is anything you can do." Her: "Have a nice day." Click.

I was not upset when I found out about the charges, things happen, we make mistakes as human, that's just part of life. What really aggravated me was her unhelpful and arrogant attitude. She admitted it was their own employee that made the mistake, but never apologized for it nor offer any constructive solutions. All she wanted to do was brushing me off. Maybe this is how she is trained.

This is not the first gym I went to and won't be the last, but I will make sure as many people know about their dishonorable practice as possible, and let people decide whether they feel safe to leave their checking account information, bank routing number, home address, full name, social security number and phone number in the hands of a business establishment with shady employees like the one I encountered.

Getting severely frustrated with Planet Fitness on Verdae Blvd Greenville SC. I went in personally on September 5th 2014 to let them know my husband and I were moving out of state and we no longer needed our memberships. We got the "sorry to see you go...if you're ever back in town come back and see us" scenario. Thought nothing else of it, until I checked my bank account and they had withdrawn the 19.99 x2 on September 17th. I have spent best part of today going round and round with them that we did as required, inform them before the 10th of the month to ensure the recurring fee would not be withdrawn on the 17th. Being in Montana, it is completely inconvenient for me to handle this in person and to try to resolve it by phone is utterly exasperating, as the guy I keep getting on the line is so condescending and talks right through me!

The alternatives he has given me, are to either go in person to cancel...which I have already done. Transfer my membership to a location nearest me...of which there are none in Montana. Send a certified letter of cancellation to the SC branch before the 10th of the month to avoid being charged on the 17th...well surprise today is the 10th!! ! He asked if I filled out a cancellation form when I was there on September 5th and I informed him that no-one gave me anything to sign, all the staff did was take the membership cards I handed them and wished us well. How can I resolve this issue and prevent any further charges and claim the charges they took on September 17th that they had no right to take. It's just short of theft in my book.

Just a foot note, my husband and I have not used Planet Fitness since my Cancer diagnosis over a year ago, so I would think they have made more than enough profit from us, that's all the more reason that I feel disgusted about them continuing to take money from my account after being told IN PERSON to stop. So much for their Black Card NO COMMITMENT slogan. I'm sickened that they have no further permission to put their hands in my account or I will press theft charges on them.

After several years of paying monthly fees and not using the gym, I noticed a posting for a $29 membership fee that I didn't remember signing up for. It had been a long time, so I decided that the best course of action was to cancel my membership and request a membership fee refund. Canceling the membership was not difficult, but the desk staff said that they were no longer able to do the refund, as they had been taken over by a corporate entity and gave me a phone number to call. I called the number and was told to call another number, which turned out to be the wrong number. Called back and insisted that I needed to speak to someone who could solve this problem.

All I got was a rehearsed spiel that they don't refund membership fees unless the account was canceled by the 25th of the month prior to billing. Since they don't bill or notify you until after that, they count on people missing the deadline and keeping the $29 for themselves without giving any services. I asked to speak to a supervisor, but got attitude from the customer service rep who essentially refused to connect me, but said I could leave a message on her voicemail.

At that point I had spent far too much time on this (which I am sure that they count on) and gave up for the moment. My mission is to warn consumers of their very questionable practices, their rude and unpleasant corporate customer service reps. If this is what the company allows to happen, I question dealing with this company in any capacity. So I have been an active member at Planet Fitness from April 14th, 2014 up until June 19th, 2014. Today I finally was able and had time to get out to the gym which was about 20 miles from my home which was about a 45 minute drive, in order to cancel my membership. I had stopped going in June because of a car accident that I was involved in. I was unable to go to do heavy lifting, do constant running and stretching. Also my job is physical so it was difficult for that too. Anyway I had gone to the gym to terminate my membership because I was not able to workout and did not want to pay monthly for a membership that I was locked into for another 9 months give or take.

They wanted me to buy out which was $58 and I said no. The uneducated employee gave me an attitude and did not want to help me or give me straight answers and told me that I needed Military leave note or a Medical Note written from a doctor explaining my medical issue in order to cancel my membership free of charge. So later that night I went to the doctor to follow up and get a written note saying exactly what the idiot at PF needed to hear and I could get my cancellation fee waived and be on my way.

So I go back to the gym and file out the termination letter and they cancel my account with no problems. Then I ask for them to refund me for the 3 months that I have not used the gym membership and they told me that I pay Month to Month and that I cannot refund the membership if I don't use it. So I explained to them my situation with the accident and how I was unable to use the gym and they didn't want to hear it and or help me. I requested to speak to a manager and she had the same attitude about it also. I was told there was nothing I could do and PF doesn't refund memberships.

So now I have not been to the gym since my last registered punch in which was 6/19/14... my accident was 6/21/14. I hadn't had the slightest thought to run to the gym and cancel my membership right after my accident so I had been getting charged since then. I have proof from my doctor that I wasn't able to go to the gym and proof in their system saying I hadn't used the gym since 6/19 and they cannot refund ANYTHING back to me. I don't understand why they can't if I have medical proof saying I couldn't. I called the corporate office and spoke to a customer service provider who gave me the same ** answer that they could not refund my money at all. What do I need to do to get my money back? Why won't Planet Fitness refund me my money?

We even checked with the Corporate office to ask if this was correct and they stated it is company policy. I wish I had read the reviews before subscribing. Don't get me wrong. It was great to workout there. The nightmare began when I had some personal matters to deal with and had to move to another state. It happened so sudden I had to call them only to find out I had to come in person or send a certified mail and pay a closeout fee of $50 something.

I tried to transfer but the new place wanted my bank account info and I was not doing that crap. Anyhow I wasted a lot of money cause I never got to go to PF. I took the pay $10 to subscribe and $19.99 a month SPECIAL... Yuck and became a black card member initially. However, when it came time to be done with them and breathe sigh of relief. I sent my letter certified mail and called to ensure it was received. She said yes and all I had to do was pay the last monthly fee for it to be cancelled. This I did. Then 2 months later, while checking my bank statements, I see $19.99 pending from my card.

These unethical ** continued to withdraw my money and when I called Mary and her sidekick Nicole, they're telling me that now I have to pay a buyout fee of $58.00 and the annual fee $34.98 (the annual fee I was told I wouldn't pay if I cancelled in May). They now say it was in my contract as a black card holder and because I subscribed May 28, I didn't pay the annual fee, blah, blah and all kinds of **. They never mentioned this all the time I've been trying to cancel but now when I caught them with their hand in the cookie jar - It's my fault! So why then didn't they take out those fees instead of the $19.99 And send me the usual letter when there's a missed payment? They probably hope no one checks their statement. But on Thursday July 17, 2014 at 6:05 pm I came in with my friend, when I was approached by one of the ** man working there as the manager. He came over and said "your account has been cancelled". I responded "What is going on? And why is my account canceled without letting me know." He said, "you guys are stealing out of the locker room". I was so mad at the time. I asked him to prove it and show me the camera and he didn't do anything. There is no proof or evidence at the time. I don't appreciate and approve on how we were treated. I feel he was being racist and disrespectful to us. Plus he told us to get out the shop.

We didn't leave and requested that he call The Police. Once the police came over and they were also being racist and didn't solve anything. The police asked the manager if he wanted us banned from Planet Fitness and the manager responded yes. This is unfair with no just cause. I hate being treated like this! Please as the cooperation of Planet Fitness I know you don't want your customers to be treated this way. Whoever is in charge of the Planet Fitness gotta do something for us. Someone needs to contact us and solve this problem or else I'll file a claim and let everyone I know not to affiliate with this company. We joined a new facility in December. We were very excited. Shortly after things started breaking. Mirrors broke and fell off of the walls, machines down, hydro beds malfunctioning, massage chairs either out of order or not working properly, TVs not working, TVs not synced with machines...etc.. We waited two months for them to fix one of the TVs. Finally, in one evening my spouse came home and said, "I couldn't listen to the game show channel because the tv is broken. I couldn't use the hydro bed because they were broken. I tried to use the massage chairs but they had out of order signs on them. I then went to watch a show on FX while I was on the elliptical but the sound coming through was for another channel. What am I paying for? He told me to call the next day. This went on for five weeks. He had me mention it to the asst. mgr. She and I went over to the machines each with headphones (she took a pair off the wall that was for sale). I showed her what was going on. Soon after, maintenance came. He didn't fix it. I would call and they would do nothing.

Finally, I spoke with a woman named Chrissy. I did the same thing I did with the asst. mgr. I called her from the machine to describe the problem. She went ballistic. She yelled at me for being on the phone. She said she was offended I was calling her from a machine. After being yelled at, I had enough. I said, "I'm offended that you charge me $80 a month for broken equipment." She said she would check into things and call me back. A few days later she calls and tells me they have canceled my families' membership. I need to leave and never return. I asked if I would be charged for our memberships. She said no. I said okay. She said they were canceling us because I complained too much!

Fast forward two months, I'm being charged for memberships I am told I don't have and yearly fees of $39 per person! I called and I got Chrissy again. She yelled at me, called me a liar, and told me no one would help me. I asked to speak to someone else and she refused. She then told me my membership was the only one canceled because I used the phone on the treadmill. I wasn't even on a treadmill. I was calling her from the arc. They are a terrible company. She upgraded me to her $19.99 plan with a one year membership advising I would be charged a annual fee in June of $29.00. As I was signing the contract, I said these fees don't match your promotion. She said "Oh no, this is our standard contract but we know we have this promotion." I said okay and wrote it in my planner.

I said "I would like to speak with your manager." She gave his name and number. I called and was advised He was not available until tomorrow which was June 3.

I called and he said "Well we do have a $29.00 fee for the membership your husband has so that is where the confusion lies but it is $39.00 so you have to pay that for the black card." I advised him we will honor our commitment to the one year plan despite the lack of integrity and dishonesty. However, we will cancel my husband's plan. He said that's fine bring in a letter but you can't send in a cancellation until Sept 16, 2014 but will still be billed on September 17th and if I cancel, there will be $58.00 fee for each account. I told him I left the YMCA but I will send the letter to cancel and report them to the Better Business Bureau and my bank. It is sad that they can lie and have hundreds of complaints on this site dating back to 2009 alone of not disclosing that fee. While I totally understand other people's complaints that have happened with Planet Fitness it doesn't necessarily sound as if a lot of the problems are from the company itself. It's the employees and managers at certain locations in states. Me personally, I live in MD, and have only had a couple of minor issues with Planet Fitness. Overall, it's a perfect gym for me. I go simply just to use cardio machines so the cheap $10 price is very worth it for me.

My issues come with the fact that the gym REQUIRES you and DEMANDS that you give them your bank routing number. You can't write it yourself. They demand that you get it from the bank itself. While this is a simple task to achieve, it's very bothersome that I can't just simply log on to my account on my phone and quickly retrieve the routing number from there. If you do not give them the bank routing number (they refuse to use your bank card to take the monthly charge from. They will charge you an extra $10 a month because they claim they cannot get the money out of your account. Also this is a misleading statement because you can do this online on their website.

Yet, when I did that, I was still charged the extra $10, my PF location claiming they didn't have that info even though I already put it in online, they needed it in person. That's another complaint of mine - their website. Their website is utterly pointless. You can't change anything through it or do anything through it. Any button you press to change something just brings you back to the log-in screen. The tech team really needs to get their act together and fix the website. All in all, those are my only complaints. I've personally never had issues going into my gym wearing a tank top (I'm a fit girl) or wearing anything that they feel is too revealing. If I ever do have issues with this, I'll raise hell but so far so good!

Ms. ** stated that she was not going to let my cousin in and when I explained again that he was my guest and that I had a black card membership which give me an Unlimited guest privileges at any Planet Fitness location (Which is taken directly off of your website for that location).

Ms. ** then stated that she was refusing to let my cousin in. I requested that she show me the policy which entitles her to refuse Black Card members guest admittance to the gym. Ms. ** stated with a rude inflection in her voice, "I don't have to show you anything and he is not coming in." The manager of your Planet Fitness Franchise, Ms. ** then called the police who responded and issued a trespass summon based upon your manager's complaint that she did not want my guest on the premises. The amazing thing about this is that the police was there within a minute of my cousin's interaction with the manager, Ms. **, which would indicate to me that she called the police prior to even talking to my cousin or myself.

On April 30, 2014 at approximately 12:20 pm, a conference call was made with your Planet Fitness District Manager Krystle ** who allowed my cousin and I to explain what had occurred, but it was apparent that she had made a decision on how she was going to handle the incident prior to our phone conversation. Her decision was to ban my cousin from all Planet Fitness. This is completely unacceptable.

I expected a much higher level of service from your company, and I am quite disappointed. Because I do not want to spend any more time on this problem, I expect a letter of apology from your corporation and believe that this manager needs to be retrained at a minimum. If I do not receive an adjacent response within the next five business day I will be making this complaint public.

I recently had surgery and unable to continue my gym membership. I went to my gym Planet Fitness in Danbury, CT to cancel and was told that I had a 12 month commitment which was news to me. On the website it clearly state no commitment. I was told I would have to pay to break the contract and also pay for next month fee, even though I went there way ahead of the next billing cycle. I am still trying to close my account without paying that commitment fee. Someone please help me.

The general manager at the University Planet Fitness in Charlotte, NC is extremely rude. We had some concerns about some of the rules and were asking some questions to determine if maybe this wasn't the right gym for us. His behavior was unprofessional and rude off the bat. He did not like that we were questioning any of the rules; he was defensive and argumentative out of the gate. They do have a no trainer rule there... and I do have a trainer so I asked him about that. I then told him OK... so my trainer wouldn't train me there but he may come work out with me from time to time at which time this boy went off his rocker telling me that's not fair to his trainers and he was just very irate. OK when I called, I was told they do not offer any personal training whatsoever, so this made absolutely no sense to me.

Now my trainer has a gym where I can go for free for training sessions... but he also works out with me too outside of training sessions. If I'm paying for unlimited guest privileges then I can bring a guest as long as I'm abiding by the rules. He continued to just be irate and go in on this issue. I told him I'm not interested in their trainer... I have one who handles my specific disability as well as my diabetes with training and nutrition... and he continued to argue me down about using an outside trainer. I told him at my job, he would be fired for this type of unprofessional behavior with a customer... Once he gives the rules of the gym and a member agrees to abide by them that is the end of discussion.

At this point this fool said I probably make $10 an hour O_O. Now what I make is far above and beyond... but even if I did make that much... what kind of ignorance is that? You don't continue to argue with a customer to force them to use your services or pay your trainer and then as a general manager call yourself insulting a customer talking about how much they make... That is just unheard of. He was extremely young and hot tempered and he definitely didn't like the questions or concerns. His response was about as ignorant of a response as I've ever seen from a person in any business. We read the reviews and we should've listened and gone with our first instinct. We will definitely be placing stop payments based on the reviews here. I am not even mad though... They are super cheap and you get what you pay for. Cheap prices, cheap staff, cheap behavior... it is what it is. Save your money b/c trust me, you will want to cancel this membership and they will charge you to do so. I cancelled within the 3 day window... so I'm good to go.

I signed up with planet ** a year ago and I only got to use the gym about 9 or 10 times due to changes at work and some health issues. I still continued to pay the 19.99 every month until my Wells Fargo account (another place to steer clear of) was compromised. I immediately walked across the parking lot and opened an account with BOA which has really become an amazing bank and opened an account with them. I immediately called the gym and they said I would need to change my bank info online. I took care of it that night but, lo and behold, they still tried to take the annual $39.99 and 19.99 monthly out of my old account. I called customer service and let them know that they had costed me $70 in fees and that I had changed the account info as soon as I found out about it.

The customer service agent agreed to waive the $39.99 fee since it had costed me the $70 in fees. Well once I thought that was all cleared up I continued to pay the 19.99 a month for another 8 months or so, even though I was unable to even use their overrated, crappy little gym. So, I called once my final payment was made to cancel my membership. The manager at the location in Kernersville, NC advised me that I could not cancel my membership until I paid almost $80.00. I told him about the customer service department and the promise that was made that they would waive the $39.99 annual fee. He proceeds to tell me that he doesn't know or care what I was told by customer service but that he would not waive the annual fee and never even could explain what the other almost $40 was for. I asked how I could cancel and he said I could do it in person and I advised him that would be a very bad idea for him with me being as angry as I was, so he said I could cancel by certified mail. I have sent him a certified letter as well as a certified letter to the corporate office in New Hampshire.

I have also contacted FOX 8 on your side and they are going to be doing a story on this. I do need anyone else that has been screwed over by this organization to contact me or FOX 8 if you are in the triad area of North Carolina so we can get all the people we can to let everyone know how this place treats its customers. Feel free to write me if you would like to team up against this organization with me. Thanks.

They have oversold memberships. I had to always wait for weight machines and elliptical machines. The men's showers are nasty and the curtains are often torn halfway off. Trying to cancel was the worse. They said I owe one month's ($10). I say I don't. They won't accept my cancellation unless I pay $10. I will not! I will not allow them to bully me into paying $10 more. They can call me, and bully me until they are blue in the face. Since I have impeccable credit this will not affect me, but for anyone with less than great credit this black mark can really hurt. They know this and will continue to extort money from people $10 at a time... because they can. My suggestion? Don't ever start there, stay away!

I called when I realized my credit card was charged $20 twice in 4 days. I was told they charge when the credit card doesn't take the account info. I told them that doesn't happen with my account because I pay my bills. They put the information in wrong is the real problem. I was told the fee is charged no matter what and who makes the mistake. I told them I will just call amex and they will reverse asap and I will block them as a merchant. I also asked how they were able to charge it twice if it was no good. I will be there tomorrow to cancel. Norwood MA location
