Zenni screwed up the very first order I placed with them, which was on May 12 of this year. They shipped my glasses to someone else, and in turn shipped someone else's glasses to me. Zenni called me and explained what had happened, and stated they were "express" manufacturing a new pair of glasses and would be shipping them to me right away. This simply was not true. It took longer to get the replacement glasses than it did to receive the original botched shipment. So finally on June 4 my replacement order showed up, and the glasses did not fit. Granted I did not pay a lot of money for them, but I don't believe in throwing money away, either.

I ordered prescription Progressive glasses from Zenni. When I received them and tried them on, I had a problem with blurriness. My right eye felt different than the left eye, and I had a difficult time trying to focus. I returned to my doctor's office and he re-tested their glasses and said that the Right OD was off. His prescription was for Axis 90 and the Zenni glasses had an OD Axis of 110. So I returned them to Zenni. I got an email telling me that after inspecting the glasses, they'd determined that the glasses were manufactured correctly. NOT!! I know my Dr. is correct. Zenni refused to give me a full refund. Their offer was to give me a store credit for the amount or only 50% refund on my credit card. I DO NOT want to order another pair of glasses from them, and this is my first (and last time) to order with Zenni.

Zenni Optical was recommended to my girlfriend by a very close friend. She bought three pairs and I bought mine after that. They were easy to find and had a good selection thus, we chose them. I don’t like to go anywhere so everything I buy is e-commerce. Convenience is a factor and their online ordering process was super easy and so convenient. I was able to go online and upload my picture and see glasses that look good on me. Their website was what made it the best. My favorite part was being able to look through categories and glasses, rather than just having everything thrown at you at once. Also, they were very, very cheap and I could afford them. I love Zenni.

I ordered a pair of progressive frames with transitions and it cost me $128. When the glasses came the only clear vision I had was when I was looking directly straight ahead. If I looked from side to side my vision is extremely blurry. When I called the representative told me that they manufacture progressive lenses in an hourglass shape so that it would be blurry on the sides. I talked to other people who have progressives and they don't have the same issue, so I don't understand why they would manufacture them in that manner where there wouldn't be a prescription throughout the whole lens.
I explained to the rep that that can't be right and there shouldn't be any blurry parts to the glasses and all she said was that she understood my frustration. She offered for me to send the glasses back to get them checked out to make sure that they were manufactured correctly or I could get 100% store credit to buy another pair of their glasses or 50% refund. I am opting, for now, to send them back to see if they were manufactured wrong, but if they are still blurry I guess I will go with the 50% refund which I think is a horrible business practice!

I have purchased twice from Zenni Optical. It is a good way to buy cheap glasses so it’s cool. Ordering online is easy. The only thing that was difficult was I didn't know how to measure the part between the nose because that's not given when you do an exam.

Please read all and I am sure you will find it meaningful and helpful in deciding to do business with Zenni Optical. Simple RX eyeglasses are easy and all those remarks left good should not count for Zenni Optical. I ordered my complex RX eyeglasses and I could not focus mid-range at all. I called and requested refund. They do not like that at all. They will suggest you to keep the defective glasses and get 50% off or give you 100% refund of store credit to put up with them again. I am not playing with my eyes. Oh one more thing, they will ask you to send RX copy in and try to find an error so that they can blame on you. That is what they are doing to me. I filed BBB complaint. They still do not want to refund me. I would stay away from this business unless you have simple single vision glasses. DO NOT trust them with progressive lenses. I did my part telling you, next it is up to you.
Ask yourself this question, you are buying something without seeing, fitting and feeling or materials? If the seller does not offer unconditional full refund so that you can try it but if you are not satisfied with the product you are off the hook, but you will be on the hook with them for 50% off, never full refund. You really want this?
Why my review was a test: I ordered my eyeglasses from a local optical shop where I had the exam. They make the eyeglasses and I could not see well. I told them they re-examined me and found small change. I was offered remake. I got the eyeglasses remade and I could see them as best possible. Then I sent the same RX to glassesshop.com. They made it and guess what? They were just like the first pair from local shop. I told them the issue and they offered refund. I went my own way. Now I sent the same RX to Zenni Optical. They did the same thing and you know the rest.
Conclusion: For a normal Joe Zenni Optical will speak their jargon and blame the defect on you. They are not capable of making no-line progressive complex RX eyeglasses with photochromic digital free-form lenses. They had done great jobs for me in the past 15 years that I have been getting RX eyeglasses from them. They used to return with no questions asked long time ago. But do not waste your money. This kind of sale should have "No Questions Asked Returns for us the consumers to feel comfortable doing business with them." DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY!!
Note: I have gone through BBB against them but no chance. Since I used a Credit Card through my FSA I am having hard time to file a dispute. SO DO NOT USE THIRD PARTY Credit Card with them. You will have difficulty filing a dispute. Today, I will do everything to get a dispute going. BY THE WAY I HAD SENT THEM THE GLASSES BACK as per their terms. How daring they are to keep my money and eyeglasses. The purpose of this review was to save someone from getting into the same position which I am in.

I was able to get glasses at a HUGE discount compared to any big box or name brand local eye center in my area. I only paid $82 instead of $375 for progressives and $150 instead of $375 for progressive sunglasses. I was able to get frames almost identical to what I normally wear. Prescription is perfect. I am really happy. The local price was outrageous and was keeping me from renewing my prescription. I will use Zenni Optical again.

Bought two pair of glasses, and the main ones I use, after 48 days one of lenses is coming loose from the frame. Contacted Zenni and they said they only have a 30 day warranty. Well I should have known, they would be garbage with only a 30 day policy. I will never order from them again. I will spend an extra $50 from a reputable company, who backs their product, unlike Zenni. I have bought glasses from other companies before and they have lasted me years, not days like the pair I bought from Zenni. Buyer beware, you pay for what you get... Garbage.

Ordered a mid-range pair and was excited when they came. I had ordered progressive lenses with coatings. I also paid to have the arms inscribed. The first thing I noticed was how teeny, tiny the inscription was. It was nearly impossible to read. On the Zenni site there was no indication the script would be so small. I put on the glasses and got dizzy almost immediately. My wife told me to wear them in hour long increments to see if I could adjust. I could not wear them for longer than an hour without getting a headache and feeling nausea. This was 3 months ago and they sit unused in their case, never to be worn again.
I did not call or return them, it didn't seem worth the effort at 100 bucks. I did have a pair of Oakley progressives that worked well for 3 years but my prescription had changed and that's when I tried Zenni. It was partially my fault I feel in that I have subsequently changed to a lined bifocal but I think the lenses in the Zenni lens product was defective. Best of luck to Zenni in any case.

I ordered a pair of glasses directly after receiving an eye exam. My brother in law and father in law both ordered from here and had no issues so I felt confident purchasing from here. I received my glasses and they were the wrong prescription! Everything was slanted upwards and nothing was focused when I put the glasses on. I contacted Zenni and they requested to see my prescription and to know what my PD was. I provided all of this through email and was then told I needed to send in the glasses for inspection, but I was required to pay the return shipping. Very unprofessional.
I've never been required to pay return shipping when purchasing online items. Furthermore, I was told I had to send in my PD, prescription, and an explanation of what happened, but I have already submitted that in my email complaint. I was also told that if they determined the glasses were correctly made, they would refund my card at only 50% or give me a one time offer of 100% store credit. What crap.

I am super shocked at the reviews. 02/05/2016 I placed my first order of two pairs with a total of 28.26. I did not get anything extra but my prescription because I was just trying them for the first time. I was nervous but many of my coworkers had countless successful orders... I was convinced enough. I have to say my glasses are perfect. Especially glasses #830516. My second pair, glasses #239621 are a little smaller on my face. The only thing that was difficult about the process was finding glasses that fit my face the way I want. I am not a fan of huge bug like glasses, or the trendy shapes. I am a business professional, and I like to look that way as well. The blue of glasses #830516 is very beautiful, and is about as risky as I will get. Zenni has provided me great service.

I am also surprised by the bad reviews. I have had a good experience and I have ordered 12 plus pairs of glasses for my son over the last 3 years. My kid is extremely hyperactive and goes through glasses pretty fast, and this makes it doable for me. To order I only have to click a few buttons to get another identical pair sent out. The cost is around $50/pair... and the quality/durability is way better than some department stores. Also, I can replace just the frames for $14 if he breaks them and I can switch out the prescription lenses from home, piece of cake.
I have even had a good experience with customer service. I ordered something that would not work with my child's very strong prescription and they contacted me, and we had an email discussion and they made some recommendations. I don't recall it being a bad experience or costing me more money either. My only complaint is it takes weeks for me to get a pair, 3 or more, which is a real pain. However, I have saved hundreds of dollars on my son's glasses, which I was previously paying $200 to $400 per pair. So it has been worth it for me personally.

Bought a beautiful pair of bifocals from Zenni Optical. Glasses delivered promptly, in a nice case with extra screws, etc. Started out very impressed. Unfortunately I needed to hold a document 6 inches from my face to read it. I called Zenni and they said that's the way they make glasses. So if you want to hold a book right up to your face the price is right. Very unsatisfactory for me.

Ridiculous. These glasses only seem to be a bargain - far from it. I ordered several pairs; one in particular with all sorts of upgrades to the lenses - higher quality with photo tinting and protective coating. With VERY gentle wear (as I've ordered about 6 total) the lens literally broke in half. The response from Zenni? "You're outside the 30-day warranty." That's $200 down the drain. So before you order from them - be aware. You're paying for glasses that will only last you 31 days. They don't even pretend to care.

So, I'm finally writing a review after recommending Zenni for years to friends who complain about glasses being too expensive. I've been buying from them since they first started selling online, and I've always been satisfied with the designs and the prescription accuracy. It's true, they're not ultra designer frames with the prestige of having a big name label. But... for someone like me who has no idea what looks good, doesn't care about designer labeling, and has broken more than one expensive pair of frames in my time, it's the perfect option.
I like the "try them on" feature where you can upload a photo and see a preview of how they'll look. It's not really the most accurate in my experience; sometimes the glasses look way smaller than they actually are. But, I can get a feel for how the shapes will look and they have clear measurements and sizing filters so I don't end up with baby frames. I own three pairs right now - I broke a couple pairs (stepping and sitting on them. Nothing to do with their product), but I am always looking at their new styles to see what else might be fun to try. I love the sunglass lens options - really cool color and gradation options. I've never gone beyond the basic lens and some sunglass tint, but for a simple, affordable pair of sunglasses, Zenni will probably always be my favorite.

Garbage experience with Zenni Optical. I ordered my glasses and they came in with the wrong prescription (cost $47). I contacted customer service and they would only give me store credit (per policy) but I had to pay for shipping to send them back (per policy they only take USPS so $10). During my reorder I had to pay more money because I switched my frames and that something (per policy) was "difficult" about creating my prescription (additional $24 to the $47of the original order and the $10 to ship back there first mistake so I am now in for a total of $81).
I then double and triple checked my prescription to make sure the order was correct. OVER A MONTH LATER FROM MY ORIGINAL ORDER I get my new glasses with THE WRONG PRESCRIPTION! Called customer service and they said PER POLICY that they can only offer me the $24 back in store credit because the previous amount was in store credit. I told them that both of these were their mistakes. They said it was policy. I told them that obviously they needed the money more than me. I am not going to pay them more money for another gamble. This was their mistake and they did not care one bit.
Customer service didn't help and they have no concern to make their mistakes right because they have a policy about it. I might as well make a company that never delivers on what is offered and make a policy to never pay them back. If they insist on a exchange make them pay more money and never deliver. That seems to be Zenni Optical's business plan. Never deal with Zenni Optical. They are a scam. They might of been good a few years ago but now it's just a racket.

MAKE SURE you take out both lens from frame when they arrive & be sure they are cut correctly!!! Purchased 4 pairs of glasses Oct 2015, 2 reading glasses & 2 sunglasses. I order in pairs just in case I set a pair down & can't find them. The one sunglass pair was only worn tops three times since I purchased them. I went to wear them today as I couldn't find my other pair & found the bottom of the frame broke. I took them to my ophthalmologist & he said the frame lens broke the frame at its weakest point as the lens was cut incorrectly, it was too large for the frame. When I called Zenni they wouldn't do anything about it as it was out of the 30-day return policy window. This is nothing but poor customer service not taking care of this matter. I'm surprised on the negative comments. I got a pair of glasses with progressive lenses and a pair of sunglasses for about $59 total -- and they work fine. My hope is that Zenni would fix their customer service problems because with happy people, they tell others. Unhappy people tell others. If you are looking for new suckers, then you will be outed by another company that does what you are doing but concentrates on keeping customers happy. Since it sounds like Zenni is buying from a China company, it cost them with every return, which is why they are avoiding taking care of people. Short term gain for long term collapse.

The 30-day warranty is pretty worthless when one lenses chipped 80 days in. The frames are rimless on the lower level. I will use Zenni again but not a rimless pair of glasses.
Hi Lee Ann,
So sorry that your lenses chipped outside our 30 day warranty. With any rimless pair, the lifespan is shorter than a full rim pair of glasses. Should you be open to the idea of ordering rimless glasses with us again, we recommend purchasing polycarbonate lenses as they are more impact resistant.

I recently ordered two pairs of glasses from Zenni, one reading glass, and one pair of sunglasses. Both pairs give me eyestrain and cause a bit of dizziness. I'm not sure what is off, either the pupillary distance or astigmatism axis, or both. The diopters seem correct for both pairs, but they're the most uncomfortable pairs of glasses I've ever owned. Comparing them to my existing prescription glasses from a regular optician, the lenses seem slightly distorted, even outside the vision center and in the lens side without astigmatism correction. It only cost $32 for two pairs, and it doesn't seem worth the effort to return for a half refund. I can keep them for emergencies, though they're uncomfortable to wear for more than a few minutes. They did come with hard plastic cases and nice microfiber lens cloths.

I ordered my first pair of progressive lens glasses in 2015. I had no real problems with turn-around times, and no real problems with the plastic lenses, but the metallic frames started turning my skin green after about one month. I ordered another pair, this time with plastic frames. They arrived December 19, 2015. I was drying them one day after cleaning them (January 20-23rd?) and the frame broke. Customer service agreed, after some arguing about 30-day warranty, to send replacement frames for half price plus full shipping costs.
I received the replacement frames on February 8, 2016. Those broke in 3 places on March 16th, 2016, as I was VERY CAREFULLY cleaning them. I won't order replacement frames, as that would put me at around $100.00 for approximately 3.5 months worth of cheap plastic lens eyewear, averaging out to a cost of over $300.00, which is what I was trying to avoid paying in the first place. Lesson learned. Pay for the good glasses and avoid the downtime. Zenni sold me shoddy eyewear and poor customer service. The one positive I can offer about that company is the prescription was correct.

I decided to try to save a few dollars and try out Zenni Optical rather than pay more at local eyeglass stores. After doing a good amount of research, including ordering several frames to try on and then ship back to the company, I ordered a pair of plastic frames with prescription lenses and paid extra for the highest level of anti-glare, anti-scratch, oleophobic coatings as well as two pairs of polarized clip-on sunglasses to go with my glasses. I was initially happy with my purchase but after several months of using the clip-ons I noticed that my vision was blurred and realized that they had scratched up the area directly in front of my pupils due to the manner in which they attach (sliding over the tops of the frames and pinching directly against the lenses). I couldn't believe that the custom-made clip-ons specifically engineered for these frames and sold to me with these glasses by the manufacturer had rendered my new glasses ruined in less than a year.
I contacted their customer service with a polite email that included a photo of the damage and a reasonable request that they offer me something like 50% off a reorder of the same glasses (sans the defective clip-ons), and I even stated that if they would honor my original purchase with such an offer of apology I would be happy to also order a separate pair of prescription sunglasses at full price. I received only a short response that said that the glasses were outside of the 30-day warranty period and that the scratches were not covered by the 1-year lens-coating warranty. I was very sad to see that their customer service department would rather leave me stuck with a product ruined by their own accessories rather than extend a small discount to me to keep me as a satisfied and returning customer. But that was their choice. With that I decided I would not do business with them again.
A week following my communication with their customer service the cheap plastic frames themselves snapped just over the left lens when my 9-month-old daughter grabbed them near the temple and they got slightly twisted. Today I went to the local shop to order a quality pair of glasses backed by their personal guarantee and long history of great customer service. I wish I had done this in the first place, as my slight savings last June have been revealed to be only wasted time and money this March.
Hi Andrew,
So sorry to hear about your experience. We've reviewed your order and found that it was placed back in September 2015. Unfortunately, we have a firm 30-day warranty on our glasses. For orders outside our warranty we offer replacement frames at 50% off for situations where the lenses are still in tact.

I have purchased 4 sets of glasses from Zenni collectively in the past and have been happy with all of them. However, my 5th pair I purchased recently was sent via expedited mail because I needed them asap. They arrived and were HUGE. I'm talking fell to the tip of my nose when placed on my face. When I called to address the issue, I was told I must have measured wrong. My info is stored on their site so ALL my glasses fit the same. This new pair was not a different shape or weight - it was very similar to all my other pairs. It was clearly a defect in the hinges or something. I was told the ONLY solution was for me to go to the post office, mail them back, wait for an "inspection" to take place, and then new glasses would be sent.
For one, I paid $18 in expedited shipping because I need them now - can't wait 2 weeks for an "inspection" to happen. And it was odd that the solution was to further inconvenience the customer. Not only did I have defective glasses, but I needed to stand in a long post office line and pay to ship them back??? I asked that instead, they send me a new pair (expedited) and THEN I mail the old ones back so I wouldn't be "glasses-less" for 2 weeks. But that was denied. I will not be ordering from Zenni in the future due to this. Very disappointed.
Hi Kat,
So sorry you are unhappy with the size of the frame you purchased. Our website provides exact frame measurements for each product as all of our frames have their own unique sizing. Ultimately, the selection of your frame size is entirely up to you as we don't confirm which size you need.
Here's a helpful document on how to measure your current pair of eyeglasses to ensure you are selecting the correct frame for your face size: http://www.zennioptical.com/measure-eyeglass-frame-size-how-to
After reviewing your order, we found that your recent pair of glasses is slightly longer on the temple arm than your previous pairs. That maybe the cause of your glasses not fitting correctly.
If you believe that the pair you received is defective, we'd be happy to offer to send you a replacement frame.
Please feel free to contact us if you'd like to discuss this further.
Thank you!

We have been ordering glasses from Zenni for over 10 years, ever since I had to go to bifocals and refused to spend $400 at my optometrist. Since then we have purchased over 10 pairs of glasses for myself and family members, and I have referred friends and family, all of whom have had a great experience. Pros: Cheap. I mean really cheap. $40 for a usable pair of lineless bifocals. $20 for prescription sunglasses (single vision). Accurate prescriptions - every time they get checked by my optometrist, the script is exactly as he prescribed the year before. Good customer service - I messed up an order, one email took care of it and gave me Zenni credit for the full amount of the order. Cons: Takes a couple of weeks to get. Ordering the right size can take some guess work. Sure you can work off measuring your previous glasses, but there is still a shot in the dark sometimes.

NO CUSTOMER SERVICE. One should be aware of a company that will not cover a factory defect even beyond the 30 day window. When pressed Zenni offered to send me a set of replacement nuts and bolts for a set of drill mounts? No factory checks and hiding behind a non-warranty timeline. BYPASS to a better company!

I was hesitant to order from this company after reading reviews here, but I really needed glasses. I have a family so I just couldn't justify spending hundreds of dollars on glasses, when I have contacts. For $22 (with shipping!!!) I got a great pair of prescription lenses WITH frames! The frame is stainless steel and the prescription lenses are spot on! The processing and shipment was also very fast (8 business days).

Hi Aaron,
So sorry to hear that you're having problems with your glasses. Upon inspecting your glasses we found that the prescription was made accurately. I love the idea of affordable glasses, if the quality is good. I think it is outrageous what some companies charge for glasses, and I really doubt that it is necessary for them to be so expensive. The first time I ordered from Zenni was to have an extra pair. They have held up okay, since I hardly ever need to use them. The second pair I ordered were rimless, a style that I have had good luck with when ordering from Crown Optical, but Crown is ridiculously expensive, even with my insurance, so I decided to try Zenni again. With rimless glasses, the screws go directly into the lenses, and less than three months after receiving them, I noticed cracks in one of the lenses, radiating out from one of the screws. I couldn't find warranty information on their website, so I emailed them.
Their warranty is only for ONE MONTH. Most people's glasses don't break in the first month, no matter how poor the quality, so they really have themselves covered there. They advised me to order another pair, to which I replied, "I will definitely be ordering another pair - from America's Best. If I have to replace my glasses every three months, it is hardly a savings. America's Best stands behind their products." They then replied that they would make an exception for me and give me a store credit for half the price of the glasses, which is better than nothing and the only reason I'm giving them two stars, but if I want to get any portion of my money back, I still have to order more glasses from them.
A few days later, I was cleaning my glasses with one of those wet, one-time-use cleaning cloths designed for eyeglasses and it put a massive, deep scratch in one of the lenses even though I had paid extra for scratch-resistant coating. I plan to go ahead and use my store credit for another pair of glasses, but I will order the cheapest ones they have this time and take my business elsewhere from now on. America's Best guarantees their glasses for one year, and if you bring them in with a single scratch as late as the day before your year is up, they will replace the lenses free of charge. That's the kind of service I want.
Hi Kathy,
So sorry for any frustration we may have experienced. Generally, the lifespan of any rimless glasses are shorter than full rim or half rim glasses. We've reviewed your order and found that you purchased our 1.57 lens with your rimless glasses. On our order form, we recommend a 1.59 polycarbonate lens as they are more impact resistance than our 1.57 lens, which is composed of a polymer material. Nevertheless, we're happy to hear that an exception was made on your behalf.
Lastly, we'd like to clarify that we don't offer premium scratch resistant coating. While our coating helps reduce scratches on our lenses, they are not scratch proof.
Should you be open to placing an order with us in the future, please feel free to contact us if you have any questions.

I have been ordering glasses from Zenni since 2011. I have had a few minor problems, but nothing earth shattering until this order. I do not know what has happened to this company and I will NEVER EVER buy from them again. I received a defective pair with a vertical line down the center where I see double. I called Zenni, and it went south from there. They need a copy of the original prescription, even though they have a scan from my first order in 2011. They said I need to read it to them so that they can verify I did not enter it in wrong; seriously? It is the same prescription that was saved to my account from 2011. They said it did not matter. Why? So they can screw people out of their money with fear tactics for inferior product?
I do not have the "original" piece of paper from 2011. I saved the prescription into my account for future orders which is suggested by Zenni. They will not accept my return for defective glasses without that piece of paper??? Yep, that is right. I am not questioning the prescription. The lenses are defective. They are refusing to take them back!
Hi Panda,
So sorry for any inconvenience we may have caused. While it's not mandatory to have a prescription when placing an order, for any claims suggesting there was manufacturing error we require a copy of the doctor's prescription as it's a part of our inspection process.

They also wanted me to send the glasses back at my expense even though they were at fault. I already paid to have the defective glasses delivered, why should I have to pay for the return?? Hi John,
So sorry for any inconvenience this misunderstanding may have caused you. We have reviewed your order and unfortunately found that the prescription was entered incorrectly. The prescription entered was for single vision distance, and it's our understanding you wanted single vision reading glasses. With our single vision glasses, it's the customer's responsibility to ensure they are entering the right prescription for the vision they need corrected. In most cases, the customer's doctor is more than willing to provide that information. Received new glasses after almost two week wait. Lenses were not sharp. I went to my eye doctor and they read the prescription of the new lenses. The readings were off on both. I called Zenni and was practically accused of inputting prescription wrong. I verified my script and explained the error. Was told to send back and once received they would repair in two weeks. I told them that time frame was too long and asked for quicker response. Told I would have to wait.
Decided the headache not worth it. I was told I can send in glasses for a 50% refund ONLY. The frames are not bad. Pricing okay, but the inability to get script correct first time and then suffer another 2 weeks on top of mail time (about a month+ total) is just not worth the savings. I need to see, so I will go back to a competent optician and have the lenses made correctly and with a significantly less delay. I won't go back to Zenni and I will no longer recommend them to anyone. Just not worth the trouble.

I have to say, while these are not top notch quality, you ARE getting incredible value for the little money spent. I have no problems seeing out of either pair. The prescriptions are accurate, they look good, they came quickly and they filled the need for backup glasses. Even if these only last a year, I will have MORE than gotten my monies worth. It really makes me wonder how normal eyeglass stores and websites can charge SO much more. I am used to spending $375.00 or more on ONE pair of glasses, and here I was able to get TWO pairs PLUS clip on sunglasses for less than 1/5th the cost. As long as I continue to get good timely service with acceptable product from Zenni, I will continue to purchase glasses from them.

I requested an order for 2 clip on shades for my prescription glasses knowing that the cost was $3.95/pair. The link that was sent was very confusing and stated that the charge was an upcharge for $1/ item. I ordered 2 and was charged $2. I paid that amount waiting for next steps. A link was sent asking me to empty my cart and order 10. This was very confusing and was not explained well. In fact the manager Kenny was extremely rude. This took almost 2-3 weeks of phone calls and confusing nonsense from many salespeople. It wasn't until I talked with Robert that I understood what the process was. They do not have a system to order accessories so they send a mock order form with an item at $1 and then in order to get the right price they ask the customer to put an arbitrary amount to get to the approximate cost of the accessory.
When I finally figures their cockamamy system I felt that they at least owed me the courtesy of sending me my items in a timely fashion. I asked for shipment within a week. I was transferred back to Kenny who rudely told that that was not possible and that it would take at least 3 - 4 weeks to ship these accessories. .. even though they have my $2.00. I do not believe that customer care should be on their website because clearly they do not care!... And if you think this is confusing, imagine dealing with and trying to figure their system out. Let me start this out by saying, I used to buy my glasses from Zenni Optical and so did my family members but apparently, anymore the "24/7 customer service" means (since they've got so big clearly they no longer really care about their customers like they did several years ago) that they transfer you to a call center in India to TRY to communicate with a representative that hates their job, is monotone and is indifferent with you over the phone then hangs up on you because you can't understand them. I learned this today, after waiting on hold for 45 minutes for a representative because my elderly mother wanted to order her first pair of glasses with Zenni, (because I raved about them for the past two years because I used to buy my glasses here). I needed answers about the progressive lenses, I needed answers about the pupillary distance among other things and got absolutely no answers whatsoever.
Furthermore, the "chat" that's available Sunday through Friday... Well, that wasn't available either. What has happened to your company!!! It used to be so good, the customer service was superb and you could actually get a hold of an American. I am really disappointed, cannot believe you have let your standards fall so low. I guess we will have to look for another company to buy our glasses from.
If you don't have time to speak with your customers as your website states "24/7 customer service" without transferring them to India to deal with a representative that couldn't care less about what you need answered before your purchase, I'm certainly NOT going to spend my money at your company. There are plenty other optical companies with websites that offer the same service your company offers, and I'm sure I can find an American customer service representative to speak to that will understand my concerns and be able to clearly convey answers in a fashion that's understandable. Zenni doesn't care. They've got too big for their britches. Time for a reality check.

After attempting to find out what happened, I was told "there was nothing wrong with the glasses". Zenni offered no recourse. They just took my money.
I asked the credit card company for a chargeback on the purchase price which I received after proving I returned the merchandise. Zenni still owes me $27 for the return shipping charges but refuses to pay. I complained to the Better Business Bureau but since Zenni is a paid member, the BBB just closed the case without resolving it. The BBB is a joke. They give A+ ratings to anyone who pays for it. Zenni has hundreds of unresolved complaints which the BBB marks as resolved even though the customers get screwed over.

I've been ordering from Zenni for the past 3 years and have been very happy. In our family we all wear glasses and Zenni has never botched an order for any of us! I love that for the price I would have had to pay for one pair of glasses I can easily purchase three or four. It gives me options on frame color and style that I can have to match my clothing or to just change things up a bit. You have to have some common sense and be able to read and measure accurately. If it's your first order take measurements of a frame you presently have you like and compare the measurements before you order online.
I don't think it is fair to complain about the size of your frames when they clearly state all the sizes and dimensions for every pair of glasses they offer. Also regarding getting your PD... my vision doctor has been providing me with my PD so I get this right as eyeglass offices don't want to give this to you. However it is part of your medical record and as such they are required by law to release this information to you. I would not hesitate to recommend anyone to order glasses from Zenni. They have always been great to work with and I appreciate their help and being able to afford to see!

I don't want to sound like an ungrateful curmudgeon. I'm happy my defective glasses were finally replaced.
I would have given them 5-stars if they didn't make me beg and plead for them to fix their error. They were still not going to resolve it after days of multiple back and forth with customer service explaining the issue until I said, "Okay but I want to give you a heads up I have left a review with [the following review sites], and contacted the BBB so you may hear from them". Within 30 minutes I had a new pair of glasses ordered and being shipped to my house. Hmmmm....thank you?
They have a great product when it is made correctly. I shouldn't have to leave a sarcastic review that sounds like a broken record in hopes of making common sense and common business practices - more common.
To give a proper compliment sandwich, I'm happy I got the glasses fixed. They are really cute and I can see in them now. #Winning. I hope this serves as motivation for them to update their policies and train their customer service agents to be consistently stellar.
Original Review: Dec. 15, 2015
Beyond disappointed with Zenni's customer service after they messed up my order. Let me start by saying I really want to like Zenni Optical. I like their frames... A lot. However, their customer service and policies when Zenni screws up your order (prescription makes me dizzy) make it very difficult to continue to like and shop with them. I wish this wasn't the case because there are other frames I would like to order. For a detailed account of events, ye shall read on...
PROBLEM: I ordered 3 pairs of glasses (actually I ordered 6 pairs but the other order of 3 pairs has not arrived yet), and one of the glasses in my 3 pair order arrived with a defective prescription. I get dizzy when I put them on. DIZZY = something is not right and I didn't do it. I ordered 3 pairs of glasses from Zenni's last year, and while I had an issue with their customer service I was impressed with the prescription of the glasses. I wanted to give them another shot. This time two pairs of glasses came as expected, but one pair was incorrect. TO BE FAIR: Okay mistakes happen. I'm not extremely mad about one pair having a faulty prescription. Even though it was my favorite pair of frames in the order. I just want it fixed by Zenni, who messed up the order/prescription. If two pairs come out fine and one pair is messed up and makes me DIZZY, it obviously is not my fault as I provided the correct prescription.
COMMON SENSE: Common sense would suggest when a company messes up on your order, they pay to fix the problem, not the customer. When a customer messes up, that is a different story all dependent upon company policy. However, when a company messes up an order it is their responsibility to fix the problem on their dime, because again, the company messed up. That is if they care to retain the customer and just have... You know... Common decency. I should not have to argue or fight for them to pay for shipping to fix the problem they created. I should not have to jump through hoops to fix a problem that they created.
CUSTOMER SERVICE LESSON #1: A customer should not have to fight for you to take care of a mistake you made. Big issue there. CUSTOMER SERVICE LESSON #2: Don't make customers feel like they are lying about their faulty prescription. Especially if they ordered 3 pairs and 2 pairs did come out correct AND THEY STILL WANT TO KEEP THE FAULTY PAIR BY GETTING IT FIXED. Kind of obvious who messed up there. It shouldn't take you "3-5 days to verify a manufacturer defect" after you receive the package that you expect me, the customer, to pay shipping for. And you also expect me to print out receipts and prescriptions and such all for your "verification" process. P.S. I'm not the only customer complaining about this issue. You guys are great when you do it right the first time. However when most people have to actually interact with your customer service, that is another story.
CUSTOMER SERVICE LESSON #3: Don't make customers print out information so you can "verify" you messed up when you already have said information. I uploaded my prescription so you could make it correctly. Why do I need to print it out for you when you should have it in your system? It is still in my online account. Seriously, don't make customers do unnecessary work, especially when you messed up the order. But it's a good rule of thumb all around. Just sayin'.
CUSTOMER SERVICE LESSON #4: Don't make customers pay for shipping to get a product fixed that you broke/messed up to begin with. And then don't add insult to injury that after you take a week to "verify" that you messed up, you might grace me with the possibility of up to a $2.50 shipping refund. Seriously, who made that policy??? It's ridiculous and rude. The shipping for an item you messed up on will cost just as much as my frames, if not more, making your frames not a good deal after all. It is common business practice that when a company messes up, they have a pre-paid shipping label and foot the bill, period. I'm not being finicky and sending back a pair of glasses I ended up not liking. On the contrary, I really like the frames and I really want to be able to wear them, but your manufacturing process made that difficult as they make me dizzy and going upstairs would turn into a nightmare and a hospital visit.
CUSTOMER SERVICE LESSON #5: Don't have such poor customer service that a customer gets so upset they take precious time out of their day to school you on common business practice and good customer service. Half of your agents are rude. Please train them properly. I'm not asking for the world or for free crap. I just want the glasses I paid for to not be defective, especially when I didn't defect them. My feelings at this point equate to: "Ugggh" *face palm* and "Grrrrr" *shrug with angry confused look on face*.

I received my first pair of glasses as part of a 3 pair order. After I received pair one, I found that they had the wrong prescription. I immediately called Zenni customer service and reported the mistake and asked them to stop shipment on the other two pair. I was told: The other two pair had already been shipped. I received no notice they had been shipped even though when I checked my order on their website on 12/11/2015, it read, "processing". I was told that the prescription error was mine. But when I checked my original order, it appeared that I entered it correctly.
Bret, a supervisor at Zenni told me that I could return all 3 pair for full store credit or return them for a refund of 50% of the price. When I agreed to return them for store credit, I was told that I would have to reorder the 3 pair at full price and that the sale price had expired on 12/02/2015. That expiration date wasn't visible on the sale ad. You had to click on a tiny link at the bottom of the page to read the fine print. However, I did place the original order well within the sale expiration date. It's only the return/exchange that obviously exceeds the expiration date. So now, I am sitting here a pair of useless glasses and supposedly 2 more pair on the way. I have never dealt with such an unresponsive company. I wouldn't recommend anyone doing business with them.

I never had issues with their quality, nicer if my son would stop losing them. I guess you get what you pay for, but they should at least be usable. Unfortunately, I took a risk and that's $38 dollars down the drain.

I have been a Zenni customer for about three years. In that time I have gotten about 6 pairs of glasses with progressive lenses. They have been of decent quality, but you clearly get what you pay for. They are cheaply made, but they do work. My most recent experience was a little different. The order arrived with the lenses installed upside down. After contacting Zenni customer service twice and having customer service refuse to issue a return authorization number, I took the glasses to Lenscrafters. The optician spent about 15 minutes back in the lab working on the glasses. When he returned with the glasses I tried them on and they worked fine. He told me that the lenses were installed upside down, and further they were installed in the wrong sides (by that I mean the left lens was in the right frame, and the right in the left). I was a bit shocked that Zenni sends glasses out that way.
The lesson in this experience for me is that Zenni has no quality control, and poor customer service. There is no free lunch. If you want glasses at this low price level, then you have to take your chances that they will actually get it right. They will not honor any sort of warranty to fix manufacturing defects. I received two emails responses from my request for an RA number. The first explained how progressive lenses worked (even though I have been wearing them for years), and the second stated that I must have entered the wrong prescription. I plan to spend a little more money in the future with a more reputable and competent vendor.

I purchased glasses from Zenni Optical at the end of August and it is now Nov. 12 and I'm still waiting for my order to come with the correct prescription. I had to send my glasses back twice and have spent my own time and money going to the post office for Zenni Optical to review my order. My left eye was in pain and so I sent my glasses back. They told me the lenses were distorted and would be reordered and shipped at no cost to me. When I received my glasses, my eyes continued to hurt. I had to go to an eyeglass doctor and they measured my lenses and told me they were off from my prescription. Afterwards, I sent my glasses back a 2nd time to Zenni Optical. It has been 2 months since my original date of purchase and I am still waiting to see if my glasses will be error-free this time around. I am upset that I was not offered a full refund along with my glasses returned, or at least credits towards another purchase.

After I upload my prescription they tell me it matches the glasses they sent me. DUH! They say, "Send them back and then we will proceed from there." Zenni Optical gives you the impression that orders are actually fulfilled in the US. The truth is their lab is located in China where your order is fulfilled and then shipped to CA. Tracking of your order picks up in CA giving the customer the impression that your glasses were put together in the US. I personally find this practice deceitful.

I paid for express shipping to California. After several weeks I still hadn't received my glasses. Customer service kept giving me the run around and making promises they couldn't/wouldn't keep. One rep even told me that since the error was with them, they would resend my order to New York free of charge, since I was going out of town indefinitely. I was instructed to call back the day before I left if I still hadn't received my order, but when following up, I was informed that I would have to pay extra for that.
I explained that that was not what was previously promised to me and that I shouldn't be penalized for their issues but the rep was rude and unhelpful. In order to avoid their ridiculous fee, I ultimately had to wait for my glasses to arrive in California then have someone re-ship them to me in New York. The glasses were ok but diffidently not worth the hassle. There are other similar companies out there that know how to treat their customers, you're better off going elsewhere.

I worked for many years as an optician. I am not an expert in all things optical, but do have an understanding of the nuts and bolts of the industry. I was hesitant to order from any company that makes glasses at such a cheap price, but since much to my dismay I recently misplaced my sunglasses I thought I'd give it a try! I ordered a plastic frame with their 1.57 index lens and when I wore them for 10 minutes I thought my 'head was going to explode' from the severe eye strain – I sent them back to be remade at no charge.
When I got the 2nd pair of sunglasses back it was as if they were never remade, both time the lenses were defective. Rather than continuing to pay for return shipping on the same product, I requested that they be remade in CR-39 – those are ok. So for $26 plus $6 in return shipping fees and over 2 months later I have a pair of cheap RX sunglasses. They have good customer service, were prompt to reply my calls. They didn't give me a hassle over remaking them twice. Overall I would order from them again, sunglasses that is. For my regular pair I would order a higher quality frames and lenses from elsewhere.

I have been purchasing from Zenni Optical for 3 years now. I have had nothing but great experiences ordering from them. The shipping is prompt, my prescription has always been correct and I love the option it gives me to have multiple styles of glasses at one time without spending hundreds of dollars. I always add anti glare (anti scratch is automatically included) and even with this addition the price is still great. The frames are not name brand of course but if that's what you want look somewhere else.
I expect my Zenni pairs to last me about a year but I am rough on them (another reason I buy inexpensive glasses). They rarely break but eventually the finish begins to wear off some. My favourite pair is $12 so one each year? Sure, I can deal with that. As with purchasing anything online, know your measurements and make sure to enter your prescription and PD correctly. Get your doctor to measure it. Don't do it yourself. Do this, add a pic in to try them on your face and you'll have success! I will continue to shop at Zenni for years to come.

So one order went great, they took a while (weeks) to get here, but they were affordable and made correctly. Second order I get a completely different order (I ordered Non prescription sunglasses in gray, received Rose colored prescription glasses) and call Zenni. Agent doesn't seem surprised and asks that I ship them back so they can be forwarded. She tells me i will be reimbursed for this. She then tells me that it will be a few more weeks as the other customer has to ship glasses to them and then they will be reprocessed and shipped to me. I tell them to cancel the order and ship the glasses back. I call and tell them I shipped them back. They tell me that they already processed a refund 2.75 for shipping. I paid more not knowing that they had a limit so low, and thinking it was a priority for them to correct their mistakes.
Last order, I thought give them another chance. Big mistake. I order a few pair of sunglasses and pay for express shipping. Here is the website quote "Yes! Express shipping in the U.S. is $18.95. The package is delivered by UPS to a physical location (not a P.O. box), and it should arrive within a week and a half of the order date. International express shipping is offered to Canada only, for $15.95. The package can be delivered either to a physical location or a P.O. box, and it should arrive within a week and a half from the order date." I wait a week and a half from the date of order and try on online chat. It doesn't work so I try again. It doesn't work so I try a third time and finally after waiting I get to speak with Judy. Judy tells me that the order is a few states away and would I please wait two days. I tell her I can't as I am going on a trip. She tells me that she can't refund as she is "just a chat operator" and I have to call the call center.
I call the call center and am treated poorly and told that a week and a half from the order date means a week and a half "business days" even though it doesn't say so. Either way today is a week and a half. They won't refund until the glasses arrive and I return them (but they can't tell me when that will be) . I don't want them, but i won't be here to return them, I ask that they redirect the package (easily done when you are the shipper) they refuse. I ask that they call me back on the day the glasses should arrive so I won't have to wait on hold again, I am told thats not going to happen. I wasted and hour and a half between the chat and the phone call with extreme wait time. Nothing was done to correct a problem and at every turn they put the responsibility for action on me. After the third pair, I complained to Zenni about their defective product but their response was that they did not warranty their product beyond 30 days. After the fourth pair cracked, I made a complaint on the 33rd day from receipt of the glasses.
Again Zenni refused to issue a refund or replacement, responding that their warranty period was 30 days. UCC 2-314 defines an implied warranty of merchantability, including warranty that products in commerce be "of fair average quality within the description." In my opinion, "average quality" glasses that are not labeled as disposable must last more than 30 days and probably more than 6 months. Given the durability of Zenni's product, I would be better off paying $500 for real glasses. I will not be a Zenni customer in the future.

I've ordered my glasses from Zenni for years now and for the price, they lasted quite well and were reliable and durable so I never had any complaint and I'd rave about them to others all the time. But recently I ordered three pair and because the third pair was a bigger size than my PD would allow for, they had to modify the lenses (which cost an extra few dollars). When I received them and tried them on, they had a weird sort of magnifying glass effect. The prescription seemed correct but I couldn't really see through them. I explained this to them and they asked me to send them back for investigation. Their 'investigation' found that they were made correctly and therefore, I was only entitled to a full refund on the frames but not on shipping costs.
But the frames clearly weren't correct because I couldn't see out of them and when I tried to reason with them the representative rushed me off the phone by saying they'd do another investigation and email me. Which they did, with the same exact line. So now I've incurred the shipping cost of sending them back and of ordering a replacement pair even though it was their error. It's completely unjust but I'm not going to argue with them anymore. And I always say, you get a real view of a company when you see how they handle customer disputes. So I wouldn't really recommend them to others now.

How can they be so misleading in the standard they use for a thin lens? I called and tell them they must have made a mistake and they said they will not inspect them because the prescription is correct. "We did make a mistake on the pd", but they will not consider this. My choice is to keep glasses that I can't see through or get a 50% refund. I was offered a 100% store credit but why would I do that if they are only going to give me lenses that are so thick. They don't fit in the frame. My recommendation is DO NOT BUY from Zenni.

I purchased a pair of frameless glasses with progressive lenses when another pair from the local optometrist broke. The shipping was fast and the service was good. After several months of wearing the glasses the left side lens began to get loose. I tightened it with the screwdriver included with the glasses. The screw is loose now every day and I need to tighten it at least three times a day. I closely examined the glasses and it turns out the slot where the frame/nose pad support does not align with the lens because the hole was drilled 1-2mm too far toward the center of the lens.
This slot supports the lens. Since it took a few months for it to come loose the first time I never noticed it. I recently contacted Zenni about it and they said the 30 day warranty is expired. The quality is what you'd expect from a cut rate Chinese knockoff company. You get what you pay for and they don't have any flexibility or common sense customer service policy. I cannot recommend Zenni based on my experience and the other negative reviews on this site.

We had them tested by an independent retailer and those findings backed up the fact that the pair that were slightly wrong messed my vision up. Upon returning the glasses, Zenni maintained that, "Technicians in our lab found the inspection results are within the margin of error" and would not help up. I was first attracted to Zenni Optical as were many others because of the low prices offered for simple frame and eyeglass prescriptions. I instantly became a repeat customer because styles offered that were difficult to find on other websites. In addition, the buy two, get one free deals had me hooked. It took about 6-12 months before the lack of quality of the frames became VERY apparent. Note: Please understand, I always received the correct eye prescription... so no complaints there. I even incorrectly ordered a prescription once, and Zenni called me out to correct my prescription.
The first two frames I ordered, # 229715 and # 239512 snapped along the acetate frame where the plastic holds the lens. Both frames snapped while in the shipping case, in storage, in a drawer in my bedroom. After trying to fix on my own, and begging Zenni to pay them to fix them for me, I opted to re-order both frames. Unfortunately, even using the very clear tutorials online for both frames, all I managed to do was end up with four pairs of ruined frames. The second set of ruined frames was not necessarily Zenni's fault, but was frustrating as I strictly followed all procedures.
I ordered # 228824 some months later, and did not wear them often. Again, when I pulled these frames out to wear them, I found them similarly broken on the frame portion that holds the lens. These too were stored in the shipping case, in a drawer in my bedroom. I ordered # 229018 at some point, and wore them frequently. I went to sleep one night, woke up the next morning, and found that the nose-piece that held the plastic retaining ring for the lens had snapped.
Please understand this about me... unfortunately, I do not play sports. I am not terribly active. When I am active, I wear my contacts. When I am at work, and I need glasses, I wear prescription safety glasses. I take particularly good care of my fashionable glasses and I was very proud of my stylish fashion, for the short time I had this collection. Of the twelve frames I ordered from Zenni, only five remain. The life of the seven frames that did not last any length of time ranged from 24 hours to one year. I have not had any issues with prescriptions or lenses.

When I took them to my doctor to inspect; found out none of them were close to my prescription, or to each other! It is after 30 days, so guess what?! I can send them back for them to determine if they are right or wrong; and then either way... I'm out of luck! Are they doing this on purpose so they can resell them to someone else with the prescription that they sent to me? Obviously the money I saved... is money lost! I compared the bogus 1.74 high index lenses with my previous Zenni 1.67 lenses and the 1.74 lenses were considerable thicker than the 1.67 lenses with the same prescription and same height and width of lens. Returned the bogus 1.74 high index lenses and Zenni representative, repeatedly told me that the 1.74 lenses were true 1.74 lenses despite providing my photographs and other evidence to the contrary. Zenni only offered one time credit or 50% refund. I went with the credit since the investigation is taking quite some time but not giving up until Zenni will be pulled off the Canadian market. All other online eyeglass retailers offer 100% refund if customer is not satisfied but in Zenni's case, they are misleading the public by passing off a 1.57 lens as a 1.74 high index lens.
Had the same issue in 2012 and thought Zenni changed when my 1.67 eyeglasses were made correctly but I was clearly wrong about the 1.74 lenses. Reported Zenni's fraud to Ministry of Consumer and Commercial Relations and still under investigation. I encourage the public not to order from Zenni. They are offering 1.74 high index lenses which should be the thinnest lens but are in reality the 1.57 lens. BEWARE OF ZENNI OPTICAL - DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. GO TO 39.00 GLASSES.

I have been using Zenni Optical for 3 years and always was very pleased. However I ordered 2 pairs in my last order and one pair came with the wrong frames. After a number of attempts to correct the problem I just gave up. They wanted me to send pictures of the frame I received which I do not know how to do. I gave them the frame # s which I think should have been sufficient. Now stuck with a tacky pair of sunglasses.

I ordered glasses from Zenni Optical on January 20th, 2015 and was very happy with my purchase, until they broke less than 2 1/2 months later. When I contacted customer service, I was told that there was nothing that they could do as it was past the 30 day warranty. I was then informed that I could order replacement frames for 1/2 price and would be responsible for installing the lenses myself (they included a youtube link to show me how to do this). After all this I received another message saying that my frames were no longer in stock and could not be recorded, so I was basically out of luck. I am very frustrated that this company will not fix the defective product that I paid for and that I can not afford to replace my glasses at this time and have to resort to an old prescription that cause me to get headaches. I have recommended Zenni to all my friends and family and now will be making sure that no one I know orders from them.

I was so excited to get prescription glasses at such cheap prices. A year ago, I bought one metal and two plastic framed glasses. I wore the metal pair for about a month when one of the lenses just fell out. I thought that maybe a screw had come loose but that's not the case. The lens itself is just not shaped right. Zenni offers EXACTLY a 30 day warranty and since I didn't notice it until 32 days after my purchase, too bad so sad.
The plastic frames are my sunglasses that are rarely worn and a spare pair that I've never worn. I put my sunglasses on yesterday and the frame was just split. Busted. I've worn those sunglasses maybe half a dozen times. I got into my drawer and pulled out the other plastic framed glasses that I purchased as a spare pair and guess what? The frame is split in exactly the same place that my sunglasses split and they have NEVER EVEN BEEN WORN.
My opinion of Zenni optical is that if you want inexpensive glasses that you can literally throw away after not much use, then go for it. Their selection is awesome and so are the prices. Please be aware that the color you receive is often quite a bit different than what's pictured on their site. As someone who can't see without glasses, I'm going to find another place to shop.

I went back and forth over a week with these people (Over 24 hours per response via email) And they still don't get or understand that it's their responsibility to pay shipping because their product came from the factory broken, was placed into their little cases broken and were delivered to me broken.

And he said rudely that I couldn't get my money back until I sent them my prescription and glasses back to see if it was a mistake on their part or they would credit my account or give me 40 or 50% of my money back.
So him and I argued back and forth because of his tone was so mean and rude I couldn't believe it. Two big thumbs up for Zenni from me! I have a fairly high prescription (-4.00 in one eye), and astigmatism and I'm fussy about my vision. Having worn EXPENSIVE Varilux and Shamir progressive lenses, costing up to $900 in the past.
And I think Zenni's digital free from progressives are great. I like my lenses short and stylish, so I usually select lenses that are only 30mm tall, and even at this shorter length, Zenni's progressives are great. They offer nice segment heights--with excellent intermediate and reading vision--and the only thing I can fault them for is not offering the most generous distance vision--the distance segment is a bit short, and not wide; the distance is only about 110 degrees wide. But you get used to the lenses very quickly and soon no longer notice the smaller viewing areas. And this tends to be an issue with almost ALL progressive lenses anyway...
Yes, there are a little bit better progressive lenses out there (Shamir), if you are willing to spend $500+ (lenses only!). But for an average of $62 (including frames), the optics from Zenni's progressive eyeglasses are one of the best bargains on the internet. Period.
I've been shopping with them for 7 years, and have read many reviews and criticisms about Zenni and I have seen a trend. It seems some have had quality issues with their orders, so depending on your selection(s), this could be an issue. While I have never had any problem (and I do check the screws and parts of my eyeglasses long before they start to fall apart) with anything ordered from Zenni, you could have some problems--the frames are not as well made as what you can find from Luxotica (Ray Ban, Lenscrafters, Oakley, etc..), but then these frames are not priced at $150 and above. Same thing for AR coatings--basic Crizal AR coatings are $100 and more at your local optician--Zenni's start at $5.
I hesitate to say it--but it's somewhat true that you get what you pay for. NOT that anything is wrong with Zenni or the quality they routinely offer! They offer fine goods at much, much below average prices. Yes, I love the European construction and quality of my Silhouette frames and my 1.67 Varilux lenses--but they cost me $850, and don't offer hardly any better vision than my $100 1.67 Zennis rimless glasses--and they are both made of titanium.
In the end, I highly recommend Zenni if you don't have optical insurance and need to save some money. I never have regretted it and I see great too...!

WARNING: While Zenni optical makes cheap glasses, they are all made and shipped from CHINA. I ordered 6 pairs of matching sunglasses for my wedding party. I provided clear notes to ZENNI optical that I needed the glasses for my wedding. I even called in and live chatted with their team. The problem is that the people you talk to are in the states, but the people controlling your order are in China and it appears that the two sides of the business don't communicate effectively. They had 15 days to make and deliver my glasses, which is less time than the 2-3 weeks they ask for. Which is why I contacted the team in the States so often, and was provided assurances that if China couldn't deliver in time they would notify the team in the States, who would in turn notify me right away.
Well that didn't happen. Now with 3 days before my deadline they say they can't deliver them on time, which barely leaves me enough time to buy the glasses locally. I ordered glasses on this website a few weeks ago. I used a credit I never use out of convenience. Within a few days of using my credit card on Zenni Optical's website, a huge number of charges started showing up from South Africa. I am not in South Africa. Because I so rarely use this credit card, and considering the charges happened less than a week after giving my information, it was clear to me that something with Zenni Optical's site is not secure. As I consulted with Capital One, they made the same assumption.
I called Zenni Optical and got a very unfriendly woman on the phone. I explained the situation and, I kid you not, I am not exaggerating here, her literal response was, "...and what do you want me to do about it?" I told her that it was clear there was a problem and I thought that as a company, they would be interested to know when their clients are robbed as a result of doing business with them. There was no ulterior motive here. Capital One covers the fraudulent charges, I'm not liable. But I did want to let them no of a breach that could negatively affect other customers.
After this she said, "okay, I guess I can mark this down on your account." She then told me she needed to speak with her manager. She put me on hold for the exact time it took me to cross the street (I was speaking on my way to work), absolutely not enough time to speak with anyone. She returned to our call and said she consulted with her manager and her manager assured her that in the 13 years they've done business, this has never happened, so there is no way Zenni Optical is responsible and I should explore other sources of the problem. I told her that it was either Zenni Optical or that Amazon purchase I made quite a while ago. She responded that I would really be surprised how unsecure Amazon is and that I should give them a call to complain about my problem.
I suggested they might want to do some research or look into it at all. She told me extremely rudely that the best she could do was mark on my order that "the customer thinks something weird happened with this credit card," but told me that would be the end of it. In terms of customer service, I'm appalled at Zenni Optical. There was nothing like, "I'm so sorry that happened, let's look into this." In fact, there was no customer service at all. At this point, I Googled things like "Zenni Optical Fraud" (an alarming number of returns on that one), "Zenni Optical Scam," "Zenni Optical Complaints" and several others, all of which returned a large number of results. I would really recommend anyone do this. The company has 150 complaints registered with the Better Business Bureau over the past three years, an impressive 88 just in the last 12 months.
By all accounts, many people get respectable products from these people. But it seems clear based on my personal, awful experience with their customer service, and a bit of internet research, that if you run into a problem, they will be extremely rude and unhelpful. And your credit card may be cloned to fund a guy in Johannesburg who needs to rent a car and buy a bunch of liquor. What a miserable way to run a company.

I have been ordering from Zenni for about 6 years but after my latest experience I am very weary to order from them again. To date, I have had only one pair of glasses hold up to wear past six months. They are a pair of thick cat eye frames that were well made and have held up I believe due to the thickness and sturdiness of the plastic. I have had way too many frames literally last me less than 3 months before the frame breaks completely from the temple, or the frame cracks. I take extremely good care of my glasses because I am blind without them. I don't sleep with my glasses or leave them in the bed, I clean them daily, and for most of the time, they are on my face. I don't play sports or am not otherwise partaking in rough activity that may harm my glasses. I ordered my mother some glasses one time along with a sunglass shade for her prescription glasses. She only had them a week, didn't use them yet and still had them in the plastic bag they came in when she remarked that the tinting had come off of the glasses.
On my own glasses over the years, I have also come to notice that in a short time, the coating on the lens have worn away. Not completely, but you can most definitely see the damage from the coating wearing away. Again, I have noticed this after only a few months. I love their prices and what they offer for free, it is hard to find a company willing to give 1.57 thinness on lenses for free. Usual places I have encountered will give you 1.5 or you have to pay $20+ for 1.57 and up. They also offer their coatings for free, but as I have noted, that coating seems to be very thin. At first I was okay with the frames breaking after a month or two, figuring they were inexpensive anyway until all of them starting breaking after 1-2 months. I was also desperate for fashionable frames. Normal eyeglasses it seems should hold up for a year, or until you get a new prescription. Of course frames will break for many reasons, even expensive ones, but I started to get aggravated when seemingly for no reason the frames would break. Only to leave the conclusion that these were extremely poor quality.
I was washing my face with the latest frames, and after I was done I went to put my glasses back on, they completely snapped on the bottom right lens in my hand when all I had done was pick them up. These were gorgeous frames too, Piet Mondrian inspired frames that I absolutely loved. Upon feeling the frame with the lens out, I could immediately feel and was very surprised at how extremely cheap and thin feeling the frame was. It felt like those swizzle sticks they put in your drink. I tried to repair them with epoxy but that didn't work. I emailed Zenni hoping even though it was 5 days out of warranty that they would make an exception for a long time customer. Well, they said they could only send out a replacement frame but I would have to take it somewhere to get the lens put in. Not only was I out much needed glasses after a month, I would have to wait an additional 2 weeks, and then deal with the hassle and expense of putting the lens in myself! Outrageous for glasses that should last well past 35 days.
If you look on their fb page or on any review site you will see the same thing about people being aggravated over their glasses breaking and then being told to get the lens put in themselves. The 30-day warranty is no good in comparison to many other well-known online eyeglass retailers who offer a 1-year warranty against defects. Is this because they know many of their glasses won't hold up to a year after only a month? I always check the policy on warranty now before buying eyeglasses online. It was fun to be changing up my look so often because of their cheap prices, and one of the main reasons I bought from Zenni was because they had frames no one else had.
You know what I'm talking about, you go to a physical store or other online stores and they all have the same dumpy frames: rectangular, oval, metal, generic frames. Zenni had those unique frames I wanted: cat eye, those Piet Mondrian frames, wayfarer inspired, really unique out there, frames and patterns for great prices. I could also make prescription sunglasses for under $20! Most eyeglass places would charge you $200+ for prescription eyeglasses. I could also add tint to my glasses for only $5. These were all things I loved about Zenni (although the lens were not truly 1.57) but after awhile of broken frames every time, it gets extremely OLD.
I know I can get some eyeglasses repaired but shouldn't the purpose of quality frames be to hold up to more than 30 days of normal wear without breaking?? I mean they sit on your nightstand all night, you wake up and put them on, sit them down to take a shower, go about your day, and repeat. There is nothing there to warrant every single frame breaking after 30 days, and seemingly like clockwork, most of them have broken a week outside of the 30-day warranty. I can appreciate that many people have had great experiences with Zenni, I was happy too for awhile. It's been great not spending $400+ for two eyeglasses with those slimy people that try to nickel and dime you for every coating, lens, and other add-ons.
I'm not going back to buying glasses that way, but I am buying from different online retailers from now on. It seems to be that the more fashionable the frame is from Zenni, the more likely it is to break. If it looks thick or more substantial, or is metal, you're probably going to have a good experience. Even though these are great prices, it adds up over time due to replacement every month or so. Take my review for what it is, I can only write about my own honest experiences with them. Only if Zenni changes their policy/quality will I go back to ordering from them. I have not filed a complaint with the BBB because the glasses have always broken outside of 30 days, so they technically don't have to do anything.

I ordered two pairs of glasses. I have a current prescription, and other pairs of glasses with that very same prescription from another store. The glasses I already had are perfect. The glasses I got from Zenni were awful. Something was seriously off with the prescription, and both pairs were different! They both gave me headaches and were unusable. I went through the return process, jumped through all the hoops they asked for, which included demanding a scan of my original prescription document, almost as if insinuating that I screwed up somehow.
Despite all this, they keep claiming that the piece of junk eyeglasses I received were "manufactured correctly," which is a load of hooey. They are refusing to give me my money back, despite their return policy stating at the time I placed the order that if they sent a bad product, they would issue a full refund. I've noticed that conveniently they seem to have changed their Policy since then. Too bad for them that I have copy of the original Policy. Avoid this company like the plague. If you have a desire to take a risk, print the return policy before ordering, and if you get a bad pair, take it to an optician to inspect and sign an inspection document of the actual prescription they find on the glasses, which will no doubt not be the correct one you ordered. Ultimately, be prepared to kiss your money goodbye.

When placing an order for an "eGiftCard" you will see a section below the sender/recipient section that states "Gift cards are sent immediately upon purchase." This statement is false. Electronic Gift Card "codes" are not emailed to the purchaser immediately; only after they are "checked" by the lab and "pushed through" the system are codes actually sent. If you were to place an order on a Friday, expecting to give the gift card the following Saturday or Sunday, you would be unable to as the "lab" only operates M-F. The after hours customer service is a friendly enough resource, yet no knowledge seems to be found. They can see what you can see, so to speak. It seems like a ploy to make customers feel like they "are looking into the problem" when in reality, this is a poorly run operation that cannot fulfill online retail promises.

I ordered a pair of glasses from zennioptical.com. The glasses I received were not the same as the picture I ordered. I called customer service so I could return the glasses, they told me that they would email me a RA number to do the return for 50 cash back or 100 store credit. They have not emailed the RA number and it's almost been a week. I've called back and got a recording telling me to leave a message so I did and two days later they've still not emailed me any return information. I just emailed them my email address to see if I can help them along the way in doing their job correctly. I really don't want their 50% store credit. I'm not sure if a pair of glasses that don't look like the advertised picture is a manufacturer's error but I think it is. I'd like my 100% cash back for my return.

With my first pair from Zenni, I ordered the wrong type of lens (I mistakenly ordered sunglasses instead of photochromic lenses). Entirely my fault. They issued an RMA and I placed a second, corrected order. Second pair did have photochromic lenses, but still not right. I took them where I bought my previous glasses. They checked the prescription and told me it seemed that whoever made the lenses used different ones for each eye (which they've seen with Zenni). I loved the frames I bought from Zenni, but didn't trust the quality. I contacted Zenni; while I wasn't expecting a full refund since I was keeping the frames, I asked if a partial refund were possible if I returned the lenses. Even a store credit would've been satisfactory. They refused, because I wasn't returning the finished product. Customer service subpar. Expensive lesson for me, one that I won't likely repeat. Zenni might be a good option for single vision glasses where you know EXACTLY what you need. Anything more complex - progressives, bifocals, photochromic lens - order at your own peril.

Beware Zenni Progressives. Zenni places segment height at 2mm above mid-point of lense... For me this is simply too high and results in blurred vision because you are viewing thru reading part of the lens. You cannot customize segment height so Zenni goes with a one size fits all, which of course it won't. So simply put, it is a crap shoot if your glasses will work. Customer service is great BUT Zenni's production policies will not work for lots and lots of buyers.

DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM. They are ignoring quality and prescriptions. Sent the orders to some obscure manufacturing overseas and they are always wrong. Ordered both eye correction (progressive) 1.75. Only one eye has that and the other eye was not. Ordered lens 1.67 - in realty was made much thicker and cheaper. Order and prescription was ignored. Contacted the customer service about wrong eye glasses they made for me - online order. They recognized there is a site order problem and my glasses have only one eye progressive correction. They gave me a return RA **. I sent them back, the glasses were made wrong, only one eye due to their faulty ordering online system. Also the lens were made a much thicker size than ordered. Customer service rude refused to find a solution to solve this issue.

I note the bad reviews with Zenni and I can sympathize with the writers, who, for obvious reasons, will feel hard done by. That said, my recent experience with the company has been exemplary in terms of service and the quality of their product. I received an email within 3 days of payment stating that my order was complete and had been dispatched from Hong Kong and I was also supplied with a tracking number and website link. The glasses arrived in the UK on Friday October the 31st 2014 and were delivered by Royal Mail on the Following Monday morning. They were packaged well and the spectacle case contained two items which I appreciated, namely the supply of a tiny optical screwdriver and replacement plastic nose clips.
I've ordered discount glasses from a UK company in the past, but Zenni are the first to supply the additional accouterments. This may be common with other discounters, but was a first for me. I confess my prescription was relatively straightforward, being a single vision order to correct a minor level of short sight; therefore, it was probably not too difficult to get right. Had it been a varifocal, perhaps I may have written something different, who knows? But there again, Zenni must sell heaven knows how many glasses worldwide and I guess the level of complaints I've came across appears relatively small when compared in percentage terms to their overall level of sales.
My main concern appears to be customers alleging that if they did feel that they had a justifiable complaint, some stated that they had the phone put down on them when talking to customer support staff, as well as alleged difficulty in obtaining refunds. When selling goods to the consumer you obviously have to factor into the equation the possibility of refunds. Alienating customers further when they're probably feeling a mixture of frustration, disappointment and in some cases anger, isn't conducive to placating the person concerned and just leads, as can be witnessed by some of the other posts on this site, to people widening the audience of their discontent.
I'm attempting to play devil's advocate here by seeing both sides of the argument; however, I can only site my specific case - and as stated, for me, it's been positive so far and I would certainly use the companies services again, but on the basis that past performance can be no guarantee of future performance. I think that well worn term, caveat emptor, should be to the forefront of anyone's mind when dealing with any company, because at the end of the day, all organisations are run by human beings and as we all know, the human race is far from infallible. For this particular review, I'm speaking purely as I find, however with consumer purchasers from anyone, irrespective of who they are, and no matter what experience you have had in the past, caveat emptor may be a rule of thumb to adhere to.

I ordered a pair of bifocal glasses and when I got them the bifocal line was too low, so I called and got an RA number and sent them back with a piece of masking tape to mark where the line needed to be. In the meantime I went ahead and ordered a second pair putting in the comments that the bifocal line needed to be raised 3mm. I got the glasses back and the line still seemed low but decided to try wearing them for a while. After 3 months, I did wait too long, I was tired of feeling blind and went into another optical place and ordered a new pair of glasses. The tech there looked at the glasses I had and said that the line was definitely too low. I e-mailed them and they responded. First I had waited too long, second they do not offer custom heights, but feel free to order another pair with the correct information, which I had already done. If you wear bifocals do yourself a favor and do not order them from Zenni.

After promising a supervisor would speak with me in a couple days she said there was nothing else she could do and hung up in my face. NO STARS!!! I rated the company 3 stars, not because I have any complaints about the company. My warning is about progressive style lenses. I was never satisfied with the lenses they use. They are very thick and heavy and do not have the quality I was expecting. I got exactly what I paid for, so if you want cheap that is what you will get. I just thought some others would benefit from my experience and not lose half of their money as they only refund 50%. I think for single vision and maybe bifocal it will be okay. They are very polite and I have no complaints about customer service.

My new glasses broke in less than three weeks. I have ordered from Zenni many times in the past. While the glasses were not of the highest quality and would have relatively short lives, I always figured you got what you paid for. Consequently, this is my first time contacting Zenni with a problem. But three weeks for a $50+ pair of glasses? I contacted Zenni and was told they would send out new frames and I would have to replace the lenses. I am no eye technician. I questioned this and was referred to a video. I had also previously placed another order for two pairs of glasses with identical frames. I expresses my concern and was told my frames would be replaced within 30 days of delivery, which was not reassuring. These will be my last glasses. I am not willing to pay $50+/pair for disposable glasses that I must maintain myself.

No way adjustment possible. Had to lift the right side up to the point where the top of the frame was running a 20 degree diagonal across my eyebrow. Sent them back as per instructions and they said, "Glasses were done correctly". Got half my money back. For nothing. Never again.

I was so excited to order from Zenni, love the styles and the prices. However, when I got my progressive lens glasses and my sunglasses, the prescription did not fit at all. I couldn't wear them more than a few seconds, they made me nauseous, see double, and everything was blurry - far off or close up. I called customer service and had to pay to return the glasses to see if they were made according to the prescription. They wrote back to say they were remaking the glasses, but sent me an invoice that showed they only intended to remake one of the two pairs. I got them back and if they made a change to them at all it was imperceptible to me. I was trying them on and turned to speak to a co-worker, I nearly fell because just turning my head made me that dizzy. No, I'm not exaggerating.
I contacted customer service again and said that I didn't see the point in paying shipping to have the glasses made a 3rd time, and asked for a refund. They wrote back: "As for your case, we advise you to confirm the prescription with your eye doctor and make sure the prescription you used is correct. Thank you for selecting Zenni Optical for your vision needs". I've been wearing glasses for 54 years and I've never had a doctor get the prescription wrong. I will take them to the doctor this week, but at this point I am tired of the poor customer service and just want my $100 back.

I just paid nearly $600 for top end prescription progressive lenses -- and that doesn't include the frames since I had them shipped by my optometrist to his lens grinder. I have had luck with Zenni before, and on this round decided to step things up. Since I'm over 70 and have other retinal issues which make my vision less than acute, I ordered readers, tv watchers (distance), and a set of lenses for progressives. Everything I do I can do better with the new lenses (I paid for a step above polycarbs) than with the expensive pair my optometrist sold me on.. And of course with the same basic prescription. Fair quality frames, I only went to standard shipping and wasn't the slightest disappointed.

We ordered two pair of glasses with polycarbonate lenses for my son on March 26th and got them yesterday on April 11th. Both included plastic cases and wipe cloths, which I did not expect for a "cheap online glasses" company. A friend told me she normally gets her order within days while mine took a bit longer than usual. I'm guessing it is due to the making of the polycarbonate lenses. Given the scratches on the OLD polycarbonate lenses, I'd hate to see what "regular" lenses would look like at the hands of my son. There are some things one should buy up on.
The quality of both pair of glasses is amazing for the fact that I paid $73 for both, with the upgrade charge of $10 each for the polycarb lenses. My son (6) picked out one pair that looked VERY sophisticated and adult-looking, and one that very much looked like the six year old goofball that he is. For the price, he can have a choice on what he wants to wear and I'm glad he can. Several mothers with kids in glasses had recommended this company for the sheer fact that kids' glasses don't last. Warranties are only good for a year at most, and usually only two replacements due to damage. I'm not worried about it now.

I'm very pleased with my purchase from Zenni. They have a wide selection with good search options. My father said that whenever he orders glasses online, they email him back saying they can't make it for the style he's chosen. Zenni is the only size he's found that filters out glasses that aren't compatible with the pupil distance you enter. Shipping time was reasonable, and the glasses come with some nice little extras. A glass wipe cloth and a clamshell case (it's only a cheap plastic glasses case and is probably more for padding during shipping, but still.).
Don't pay for the lens protection films and add-ons. A cheap frame will run you $10 with $5 for shipping and you can get 4 or 5 pairs for what it costs to get the special coating on one pair. I'd rather get a few different styles, sizes and prescription strengths to test out what I really like. If you don't need glasses the next day, Zenni is a great way to try something new without feeling bad that you wasted money if it doesn't work out.
