    Our experience with ViaCord was seamless. I just signed up online and then the kit got sent. Our son was born last week. The process with collecting everything to send off to ViaCord was fine. They sent me some follow-ups, just a reminder to bring in and a reminder of how to do it. Then I had called, and someone at the hospital forgot to take blood. They were able to speak to the nurse and explain what needs to be done. Then I called back and a courier came within an hour. It was seamless.

    Talking to the person that sold ViaCord to us and walking through the information with my husband and I was great. Other than that, I don't have much more of an opinion until the baby's born and the rest of it is carried through. My understanding is we're going to bring the ViaCord kit into the room with us. The doctor is aware that we have it. We will call ViaCord as soon as the baby is born. They will be there within two hours, and collect our baby's cord blood. If it's everything it says it is, it's a small amount to pay for some mental security. We have our baby's cord blood if we need it, but hopefully, we don't.

    We have a child with special needs, so we are hoping to use the cord blood to help one of or multiple of our children.     Everything was wonderful with ViaCord. The cord blood of my first and second daughters are banked with them, so it made sense that the cord blood of my third and last child would also go to them. I just called them, said I had another child, and ordered a kit. There wasn't much discussion. We've done it twice before, so it was pretty straightforward.     I first heard about cord blood banking at my OB-GYN’s office. My OB-GYN suggested it, and I believed them. Viacord did a webinar on it. They explained that the blood and tissue would be there to help any match, whether it's a sibling or the child themselves. They could use that blood and that tissue to help with any sickness. I signed up and Viacord was pleasant as well as amazing to work with. When I went into early preterm labor, they quickly helped me decide on the kit that I was buying, then they overnighted me the kit so that if my baby came early, I would have the kit ready.

    Some of my family had banked their baby's cord blood before and recommended it. I thought it will be better to be on the safe side and do it. I signed up with ViaCord and worked with a representative with good communication. The illnesses that can be covered by ViaCord are ever evolving, and you never really know what illness may potentially be covered in the future and whether or not it could be helpful. But we have known one child who had adenovirus, and they were able to use his own cord blood to help him walk again. So, that was very encouraging.

We've done all our due diligence and we've been doing IVF for three years, so we wanted to continue the protection of our child. Everybody at ViaCord was great.     ViaCord had a Black Friday deal going on, and we took advantage of that. Signing up with them was fine. We just got the kit, filled out the paperwork, and then brought it to the hospital. It was pretty easy with the doctors. They knew what to do with it. We were originally supposed to do the tissue and the stem cells, but they forgot to do the tissue. But ViaCord didn't charge us for that, which I can really appreciate. Because I would have been annoyed if our doctor had forgotten that, and then we got charged for it anyway. That's really positive for me, at least. However, it's not cheap, and it can be costly, but it's a great resource.

    The only thing that was frustrating for my husband was that there were a lot of questions, making sure it was all packed up well, and everything was at the hospital. And we don't really know a lot of that stuff. We don't know what is what, and they were asking questions. They were also a little bit late picking it up. But that was not something that was going to ruin it for us. Also, I'm sure they had other pick-ups they had to do. It's expensive, but that's probably an expensive thing to do. I work in healthcare, so I can only imagine the cost of maintaining that kind of facility. There’s an initial fee, and then it's a couple of $300 every year. It's not really that bad. Because you would think it'd be $1,000 a year at least, but it's not.
