About Recovery Centers of America
Recovery Centers of America’s main concern is patient safety, whether from their addiction, or COVID-19. RCA has implemented new policies and procedures due to COVID-19 regarding pre-screening, medical clearances and limiting exposure to those who are not RCA staff or patients. That said, addiction is a deadly disease and it is important to seek medical help. RCA continues to admit new patients 24/7. Recovery Centers of America (RCA) is the fastest growing addiction treatment provider in the U.S., making treatment for addiction and other mental health disorders as affordable and accessible as any other disease. With world-class clinical treatment in state-of-the-art facilities throughout Massachusetts, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Maryland, every RCA patient is given the highest standard of care and evidence-based treatment with dignity and respect close to where they live and work.

I was very upset when I found out that I have been lied to and told many things that was not true about BBH. I was not told that I had to pay $200 every day for the bed I was staying in. And I was also told that I would be able to go to outside meetings and that was not true. I was told we could have our phones, iPods, vapes and was able to have transportation to places I would like to go to.

I want to thank the BBH staff for truly caring about my recovery and being there to help me get through it with the utmost care. The RSS employees have a thorough understanding of what it means to be in recovery and picked me up when I was down and out. The location is on a beautiful 500 acre estate and have a tennis/basketball court. They also will take you out too on Wednesday if you're feeling restless to get a haircut or a relaxing massage. Don't miss out on the training sessions with the fitness instructor Paul who will attempt to challenge you to a game of ping-pong. :) I can't recommend this place enough if you are dedicated to recovery and if to get away to the starry outdoors.

I was in Recovery Centers of America for two weeks going through my detox and everybody from the nurses, the counselors and even the guys in the kitchen were wonderful. I suffered for the first days but even that time was wonderful because they took care of me. They asked me if I needed something and were with me all the time. They helped me out a lot and gave me advice. So, I didn’t feel any pressure and I'm very happy to have been there and to be clean now. I joined the spiritual group and now I'm going to the meetings at night, doing a lot of meditation and taking care of myself. I would be glad if somebody else goes there and gets the same help as I did.

I personally feel that the groups were mostly redundant and some were out of date. They did not engage the clients in the process of group therapy because they seemed to become more of a didactic group or a lecture. It wasn't group. The staff conducting group didn't set the tone or tone for the group. They just basically hijacked the group and didn't let us gain the positive experience of sharing openly especially the lead RSS Ali who in my opinion is a predator, does not stand for his own beliefs and is a probable racist from what I've heard in his own personal experiences. I even heard he gave his personal cell phone number to a female client who confided in me about how he quote "gave her the creeps".

I am truly grateful for my experience here and have full confidence in myself upon leaving treatment. There were a couple inconveniences during my stay (facility-related) however, the overall treatment received has been excellent! I am thankful to the wonderful RSS Staff with whom I interacted daily and would highly recommend this facility to anyone. My insurance company gave me a number for a treatment center and the first person I called was trying to get me to go to Vegas, Nevada, but the place didn’t accept my insurance. The rep ended up giving me the number to Recovery Centers of America. They knew him there and they asked me how I knew him, so I told them my insurance company gave me the number.
When I first walked in the door of RCA, the people were really nice and helpful. It was great. I’ve been to one other place before this and it was nowhere near RCA. They have an awesome staff. They were respectful and helpful too. I’ve seen some patients there arguing and yelling at them, but they still stayed calm and nice to them when most people would just freak out or flip out on them. The place was amazing from the staff to the rooms to the food. The groups, the meetings and everything in RCA helped me. I’m feeling great now and if any of my friends would need to go to a recovery center, RCA would be the place I would recommend to them.

Recovery Centers of America is a clean and nice place. Some of the staff were awesome and were clearly there not just after the money but to help out and be of assistance to us. I will probably remember them for a long time. Others were not so great and seemed to be there just to get paid. They were the quicker tempered ones.
I was there just to stabilize and get on. RCA helped me and they really did try to equip me, though not that well. I wasn’t there for too long, which is my insurance's fault, but even if I was there longer, I don't think a lot would have changed from upfront because when I was there, Westminster was significantly understaffed. I only met with my therapist once. I met with my outreach person twice and it was two days before I left and the day I left. There wasn’t a lot of interaction given there.
Also, there's a lack of understanding about everybody's stories which sometimes results in things being said or acted out in certain ways that they weren't expecting, which is true for a lot of treatment centers I've been to. I play my guitar a lot and brought it there. There were some staff who weren’t as fond of it as others until they got to know me and finally realized what role music plays in my life. After that, it was okay.

I wanted to go to detox and I looked in Florida because I wanted to be in the sun and be spoiled. I asked a friend who is a primary physician if he knew of any good recovery centers in the area where I grew up in and he recommended Recovery Centers of America in Mays Landing. I was terrified upon arrival at the recovery center because I have never been to a recovery center before but I was pleasantly surprised when I came in. Everyone was nice. All the staff was extremely helpful. When I arrived they offered me water, coffee and anything that I needed. They were patient with me so the fear changed quickly to a feeling that everything was going to be okay.
Some staff were more lenient with certain things than others but none of them broke any rules. They stayed helpful all the way through, from arrival to end. They are also warm, caring and supportive. Plus I was very pleased with all the amenities. The bed was made when I arrived at my room and it was very comfortable. There was a TV in the room. There were also guitars and a ping pong table. There were always activities to be done. They also had snacks and the food was good quality.
The residents change because new people come in all the time but with the original group that I met they handled things very maturely. It was a close knit community. My experience at RCA changed my life. I'm still sober as of today and I'm presently attending an intensive out-patient at RCA. It equipped me to handle recovery on my own terms once I was out with the things that I've gathered and learned. I would absolutely recommend them.

Everyone in Recovery was unbelievable. I saw nothing but smiles and great attitude from the very first moment I walked in. The information about Recovery came from my brother-in-law. He knew some people who went to Recovery Centers of America and had very good things to say about it. That was our first and last option when it was time for me to choose. It was a great start for me on the road to recovery and I am coping and working on continuing and doing everything that I can. Recovery Centers set everything up for me to be successful. After the treatment, my IOP was set up, all my appointments, my shots, list of meetings in my area, everything was taken care of.
The staff was really helpful. They got me few things I mentioned like shampoo, deodorant and toothpaste almost immediately. My therapist was absolutely amazing. She took great care of me and I felt very comfortable sharing anything with her and that she was available anytime I needed her. On my last day, the weekend of Labor Day, I was worried that I couldn’t get my flight on time but the staff actually took care of it for me the day I asked them to. The facility itself and the grounds are beautiful. We had a great time outside going fishing, meditation and yoga. They even took me to a salon once to get my nails done. My entire experience was great.

My Experience at BBH - I feel I would have benefited from more one on one with a primary therapist. My therapist was great but just seemed to have too many patients to give us the proper care and time we each need. The RSS supervisor and staff were amazing and kind and helpful. The kitchen staff, cleaning staff and medical staff were all amazingly friendly and helpful. Thank you for everything.

Tasha - Thank you so much for your feedback, hearing these types of things are critical to our improvement process. We're working to move towards more 1-1 time spent with individual Primary Therapists and this is a top priority for us at the moment. We're thrilled to hear your experience otherwise sounded great & please know that we will continue to be here to support you in your recovery however we can.

I didn’t go into the RCA intoxicated, so I hit the ground running. I drove myself there and they made an exception and allowed me to do that because I hadn’t been drinking in a while. The facility was kind of new and at times, it seemed disorganized but I found it to be a really good program. RCA was beneficial to me and there were some people there that were very disruptive and to their credit, I don’t know if they kicked them out or what they did, but we’re there the first couple of days and then they were gone. The accommodation in the facility was beautiful. The staff was all really good people and a lot of them were in Recovery, but a lot of them also hadn’t been there a long time, so it seemed like there had been some turnover. A lot of times, you’d sit around or sometimes activities get canceled.
During the first week, I knew it was going to be boring. I made it a point to get to know every person in the program. I knew everyone by first name and all the counselors and that was really good. They also made me a peer leader, which gave me some extra responsibility. On the weekends, there was not a lot to do because it’s visitor day and they’re in this multi-million dollar facility and the DVD player didn’t even work. When I left, I bought them a DVD player and sent it to them just so the people would have one and they called and thanked me. If they followed through with being more organized, it would be great. I’m doing well and I think like anything, the more you put into it, the more you get out of it, and I took it pretty seriously.

One of my co-workers recommended it to me and said it was a good place to go to. I stayed there for 30 days, and I did not detox there. It has been like the CSS programs in 30 days. But I was at Westminster, and I had a really good experience there. I had nothing but good interactions with the staff. My therapist and my case manager were super helpful. They said even if I don't come back to the program, if I ever need anything that they could help me with, I have their numbers to call them, which is nice because I just moved to a different area. So that's a big help. They're very hands-on with everybody. They can tell if you're having a bad day and they'd go out of their way to keep you all right.
I've been through a few programs, and I definitely learned the most at this program. They have good sessions that are different and they were more educational than the basic. They go more in-depth, which is nice. They really prepare you for after, when you leave, which a lot of places don't really do. The only thing that is an issue there is they're so understaffed and it was always a problem. And because of that, there's a lot of things that we couldn't do. But besides that, I had an awesome experience there. I would recommend that place to anybody, honestly. It's one of the best places in the state for sure.

My experience at RCA has been nothing but amazing. When I came to Bracebridge I was a beaten down broken shell of a human being who didn't care if I woke up each morning. Since receiving all the help and guidance I could from the wonderful staff here I can honestly say that I have a new outlook on life. Everyone here truly cared and invested so much time to try and help me when I needed it most. My case manager and therapist made sure I got the full the RCA experience. The RSS were more like family than staff and they always made me feel welcome and believe it or not loved. The mansion I stayed in and I stress the word mansion, was incredible and I never would have believed recovery could be so much fun.
As for the community I have zero complaints, it's amazing how close you can become with people here in such a short amount of time. In all I am a better person for my time here and I feel a lot more confident in my recovery. I whole heartily recommend to anyone struggling with addiction or alcoholism to give RCA a chance. You will not regret it.

The staff could relate to the issues because of their own experiences. It was nice they could relate. They did music outside and it was great. Everybody attended and enjoyed.

I called the call center for a 5-day detox and the medical staff that was very helpful here put me on a 14-day program and they are not sending me home with meds to complete the 14-day program. There is no way I should have been put on a 14-day program. This is a breach of contract. Contact me if you want but the time to care of it was today. For whatever reasons it was not taken care of. It was beyond my control and I have been trying to care of it since Friday. I was detoxed in Florida where I was far worse for 4 days. God Bless America.

I was here 5 months ago and things have changed very much. Bracebridge Hall needs major help right now. Rss members shouldn't be teaching groups because they dont know half the time what they are teaching. They are in recovery and have good advice but not the groups. Rules changing every day in very confusing and makes a lot of people mad. Especially bending the rules for different people. New schedule every couple days is very confusing for clients and even the staff. Whole new staff in 5 months is a big change and I think it was too much at once.

I called Recovery Centers of America for about five days trying to get in. They finally called me and told me they had availability. They went out of their way and paid somebody out of RCA's pocket airport car service to come and get me. They told me, "You called three, four times a day, we could tell you really want this." When I first got in, the experience was outstanding. I got there late and the counselors who were leaving for the night came down and introduced themselves to me. They offered me food and beverages. One of them was Rich and he's top of the line. He's probably one of the best counselors.
It's the only program I've ever been to that I haven't relapsed. I'm 90-days clean tomorrow. It was an awesome experience. They went above and beyond. I had one problem though. When I arrived in the recovery Center they were very welcoming. There was a great staff at the front gate house and they made it easy and got me checked in quickly because it was fairly late in the evening when I arrived. I worked out with a personal trainer at the gym everyday and had private sessions with her so I loved that. That made me feel really good and got me in a different mindset. It was something healthier that I was doing for myself. I also enjoyed the good food. It was nice. And I liked my roommates too.
Our small process group therapy was the most beneficial for me. I liked that the group met everyday, Monday through Friday from 10 to noon. It was a group of six people and a therapist. I took the most from that because I got to hear what other people are thinking and feeling. I also talked and got feedback from other people who are actually going through it and that was great. I was ready to listen to what they would say and take their suggestions and it felt like I've never heard it before. I would definitely recommend Recovery Centers of America to a friend. There are some things that they could have done better but overall I was very happy. The RCA facility at the Lighthouse in Mays Landing couldn’t have been nicer and couldn’t have been a better run facility, which is why it was awesome. I got a phone call from my husband's counselor in the beginning of his treatment. They kept me informed of different things. My husband was comfortable there and had no issues. I love the Lighthouse. They're great. But it was so different with Bracebridge Hall. He was home from Lighthouse after two weeks and went back three weeks later to the Bracebridge Hall Maryland facility. He got there and I didn’t hear anything from anybody for eight days. I was aware of the five-day blackout. They picked him up but I didn't know if my husband made it there because I heard nothing.
So, on the sixth day I called and was told, "We'll see what we can do." On the eight day, I hadn’t heard anything so I called and told them I'd like to speak to his primary counselor. I was put on hold for 20-minutes. The receptionist picked up the phone and laughed at me and said, "Ha,ha,ha. Oh, my God. You're still on the line. I thought I transferred you." She transferred me to the counselor. The counselor told me my husband's going home. "I'm sorry," I said. "He's coming home?" The counselor said, "Oh yeah, we spoke to his family." I said, "What family did you speak to because you didn’t speak to me?" Then he told me, "Ma'am, he's a grown man. I don't need to talk to you."
He argued with me for 10-minutes that he had called me and I had not answered my phone. He was more interested in proving that he called me than explaining to me how my husband was being discharged. I called back and spoke to his supervisor. She informed me that my husband was not in talks to be discharged. She didn't know where the counselor got that from and informed me my husband's fine.
The next day the family therapist, Chris, called me and said they never got him to sign the consent. I went up and we had a family session with my in-laws and we talked to Chris. He could not have been nicer. We set up visitation for my husband for two days from then. Then I got a call the next day. My husband's in the middle of being transferred to a different facility. He told me, "They said I need to go somewhere else for better treatment." I had no idea that this was being discussed. If they would have called me and told me my husband was being transferred or where he was being transferred to, I could have looked. They transferred him to an out-of-network facility. I owe them $2,600. They told me my husband signed the papers. My husband was 13 days into treatment and on new medication. They could have called me and told me where, so I could have said he needed to go in-network.
Then I got a phone call from my husband's job. They told me they never received the disability papers from Bracebridge. I called Bracebridge and the girl said to me, "Oh, I'm sorry, I misplaced them. I'll get them out tomorrow." I said, "Ma'am you will get them out today. My husband is on a no call, no show basis right now. And his benefits aren't going to be effective if I don’t prove where he's at." That was on a Thursday and those papers finally were signed up Friday afternoon. Because of Bracebridge, my husband missed two full weeks of pay because they misplaced the papers. I eventually got it but I had to wait four weeks for a paycheck.

My first time at Recovery Centers of America was pretty good but it cost me $40,000. It was great when I got there and the staff was friendly. But the company was bought out while I was there and then they had to go by new regulations and follow guidelines that were strictly enforced. As soon as they started getting regulated, the staff couldn't do what they were supposed to do. They wanted to do more but they couldn't. Then Recovery Centers started taking mass help and the way their service functioned was awful. It's not a place I would go back to. After I left, they provided all the necessary things for me to do but I had to do these on my own and never had a follow-up. Recovery Centers needs to stop taking mass help and go back to being a treatment place. Now, they're essentially just looking for cash whether it's from people going there or from the state.

Peter, your feedback is very much appreciated. Very sorry to hear about some of the difficulties & complications you experienced. We're continually striving to improve the patient experience we provide and feedback like yours makes that possible. Due to the fact that we're a growing company, we occasionally have situations like this where areas in need of improvement are highlighted. We are however, very quick to respond & make adjustments as necessary and this case is no exception. We sincerely apologize for the lack of follow up on our part & will have a Case Manager reach out to you immediately to ensure we're doing everything we can from our end to support you moving forward in your recovery.

I found out about Recovery Centers through phone calls that were initiated through Anchor Recovery in Pawtucket, Rhode Island. The nursing staff had a lot of miscommunication and was all over the place with their protocol and what they were giving people. The communication from shift to shift was very poor. However, it wasn’t a big deal for me because I worked in the field so I knew who to go to, what to do and how to follow up on things. Obtaining authorization from the original order of proprietor for outside medications was horrendous and I felt bad for the other people who didn’t know.
Beyond that, everyone was extremely pleasant, helpful, warm and inviting. All the staff were on point, knew what they were doing and had a very positive attitude. It was a wonderful experience and I’m still feeling good. The day-to-day treatment staff was wonderful. They have a great team. When you reach treatment, you trade off that military modality for a softer modality, which was great for me. I needed it ‘cause things can get hectic when the staff is afraid to take charge. Leading to recovery, I jumped back into what I had done previously. Our CA was a great stepping stone to get it reintroduced back to back. This is what I’m doing along with therapy.

Lisa, thank you for your detailed feedback - identifying areas where we're succeeding as well as areas in which we need to focus our improvement efforts are critical to our mission of continually raising the bar on the patient experience we are able to provide. It sounds like you were able to achieve precisely the type of transition we look to facilitate at our treatment centers - which is great!
We sincerely hope you continue to thrive in your recovery journey and want to do everything possible to support you throughout the entire process in any way we can. We encourage you to stay connected through service to others and even checking out our Alumni program which offers a variety of opportunities to stay involved. We will be following up with you periodically to ensure we're providing every available support resource!

I was sent to Recovery Centers through a detox facility and it's a very nice facility. I walked in there and didn't know what to expect, but they were incredible as far as the accommodation goes. Everyone was warm, welcoming and my interactions with the staff were great. The group therapy was the most beneficial for everyone.

I was there at the Recovery Centers of America twice. The first time was fine, but the second time, my blood pressure was high. They took me to the hospital and left me there for four hours. After discharge, the hospital continued to try to call the center but they kept dragging their feet. And then finally, they came and got me so I was really not happy. But everything was pretty smooth with the staff and the experience definitely helped me out a lot. It was different with the overall scene of the facility but it was a good experience.

The recovery centers are all pretty similar in their curriculum including what they tell you to do when you leave. But the community is more cohesive at Recovery Centers of America - it was smaller than the one that I was at. It was a nice 40-people as opposed to a 100 plus in other places I've been to were. A lot of the people there were really serious getting sober and clean, so I think it was a good place to kick start sobriety.
I got closer to all the people and that helped. I got to talk to a lot of staff while I was there and they're all nice and caring. Most of them were either in recovery or new people in recovery so I felt relatable to them and I liked my therapist. I was really comfortable with the staff. Also, the facility was really nice and the place was beautiful. It was right on the bay and it had a nice atmosphere. Then, they set me up with good after care and I've been staying in touch with them after treatment. Now, I feel like I know what I have to do, I just have to want to do it and put it into action. I've gotten all the materials and I feel like it comes down to where I'm at. No one's going to force me or convince me to do it and I have to want to do it myself. I would recommend it.

Andrew - first & foremost, we're thrilled to hear that it sounds like you are in a great place with your recovery. If you maintain the same desire you have now & stay connected to the recovery community, you will continue to succeed. We're happy to hear about your positive experience with us & always proud of our staff for providing the highest level of compassionate care available anywhere. Lastly, we'd highly recommend getting involved with our Alumni program - it's a great way to give back & stay connected with other like-minded members of the recovery community.

I am recently retired at 72 years old and have raised four wonderful children by myself for most of their childhood, with a small income. We had very little but stayed strong together against adversity and they have grown into wonderful responsible adults and have made me proud. My first granddaughter is bi-polar and has indulged in narcotics since she was 18 years old, in spite of our constant warnings. Nothing in our past lives has compared to the worry, fear, anxiety and sleepless nights that we have endured to cope with her addiction. She has lied outrageously to obtain money for whatever reasons until we realized that it was all to buy drugs. She has stolen from all of us and brought her father to near nervous breakdown.
I have read that drug addiction has become an epidemic, and that eventually it will touch every family, but until it does one cannot believe the devastation it causes. I believe there are angels among us, and many reside at RCA in Westminster, because every person I have come in contact with there has been kind, understanding, knowledgeable, non-judgmental and willing to help in any way they are able. My granddaughter went through detox and residence for 21 days, was released but eventually she relapsed when she reunited with her old "friends".
Rick ** at RCA recommended Robert ** and Hallie ** who helped our family plan an intervention to save my granddaughter's life as she was associating herself with dangerous people. They managed to find her a bed in Westminster and she reentered unwillingly. After two weeks, she left the program, went on the run, and finally decided she couldn't live that life; she was starving, frightened, had no clothing, and no money for drugs. Again RCA came to the rescue and took her back for counseling.
Currently we are awaiting recommendation as to how we should proceed in order to rehabilitate her further. Our family has been subjected to this huge problem for five years and it has taken a huge toll on all of us, but we will always love her and try to help her. I, myself, not having been subjected to drug issues in my life, attend Learn2Cope meetings weekly so that I will know how to help her and how to keep my and my family's sanity. I also attended an RCA alumni reunion and met very friendly people, all willing to help and answer questions endlessly, even offering their phone numbers, more angels among us.
One young man admitted that he had been in prison due to addiction issues and spoke at length with me regarding my position. There were so many success stories that gave me hope for the future. I pray that God gives me enough remaining years to see my granddaughter healthy and happy as she should be and I know in my heart that if that happens, RCA will have been the catalyst for that result. No matter what happens I will never forget them.

Joan, I'm not entirely sure where to start. You're incredible story has moved me to tears. Thank you so much for sharing your amazing story & experience with us. We are certainly praying for your granddaughter's continued success and we are ready & willing to help facilitate the process in any way we can.
It is so very important for family members of a loved one struggling with addiction to share their stories so that other families dealing with similar challenges know that they are not alone as well as the fact that treatment & recovery options are available! The impact of you're beautifully-written feedback cannot be measured in words, however; this is why RCA as a company exists. We strive to provide the same level of treatment, compassion & support on every single patient (as well as their families) we encounter.
Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts, and we obviously would like to continue having an ongoing conversation with you & your family about how we can best support your granddaughter moving forward.

I spent 31 days at RCA... Very difficult withdrawals made as easy as possible by the great staff. As I slowly got better the staff and my therapists were patient with me and helped me through some very difficult days. Many of the staff members also went through a recovery process and made their stories a hopeful one for me. The classes we had during the day were mostly upbeat and very useful as tools now that I am in the "Real World". I will be forever grateful to RCA.
