Common medications include selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors (SSRIs), serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), and nonstimulant ADHD medication.
However, ADHD Advisor clinicians do not prescribe stimulants, like Adderall, or benzodiazepines, like Xanax. Patients requiring these medications are referred to in-person providers.
Does ADHD Advisor take insurance?
No, ADHD Advisor does not directly accept health insurance. However, it will provide an itemized statement that patients can submit to their insurance companies for potential reimbursement. Additionally, a patient can use their HSA (health savings account) and FSA (flexible spending account) funds to cover the costs of services.
Does ADHD Advisor offer a money-back guarantee?
Yes, ADHD Advisor claims to offer a full refund if you’re not satisfied with its services. I contacted Receptive Health, because I needed to know if my inability to focus was due to depression/anxiety (which I was being treated for by my primary care) or ADD/ADHD (which my doctor recommended I be tested for). The person who answered was pleasant and helpful, so making the virtual appointment with Matthew ** was very easy. I received the meeting link and had no issues connecting. Matthew was very personable. He did, what I thought was, a thorough assessment and gave recommendations of options going forward. I received the results in a timely manner. It was an overall stress-free experience.

BEWARE! Do not start services with this company. They do not take any sort of health insurance and will charge you every chance they get. You cannot even talk with your Dr. about anything with a "credit". Then when purchasing said credits, you will unknowingly be set up on a subscription and will be charged monthly for services you are not using. I have reached out to ADHD Advisor and Receptive Health numerous times now to deactivate my account and stop all charges. Yet, I continue to be billed monthly. I have had to file chargebacks and stop all billing with my credit card company as there is not option to remove payment from my own account. This business is a scam hiding behind the ruse of connecting you with medical professionals with the worst customer interface and extremely shady billing services. Do not use their services.

Terrible company. They canceled my appointment 20 minutes before it’s due and then tried to reschedule me 4 days out from now. I only picked this company because it said they had availability for the next day. They took my money and lied. I don’t recommend this company at all. Terrible service.

Finding a provider, setting up the appointment, completing online information, to the appointment itself was all seamless. The doctor Joseph ** asked for a medication verification, which I had, but would not help me figure out how to get it to him through the app. I have been being prescribed this medication since 2018. I had what he wanted, and instead of helping me get the medication verification to him like he asked for, he cut me off and said he couldn’t help me and ended the Zoom meeting. Biggest waste of money I’ve ever spent.

The whole process was quick and easy. It only took a couple of days the schedule. My only concern is a mixed one: The call was remarkably quick, but for an important diagnosis that gave me pause. However, the diagnosis confirms my therapist's expectation, and my own experience, so in this case it worked out.

I talked with Charles and explained my symptoms and my previous experiences with ADHD. He was able to give me a letter of official diagnosis, and now I can get back on my prior prescription and go back to normalcy. Charles was professional, polite, and helpful for the whole process.

I would NOT recommend this company. The first step in the process to set up a consultation was fine. I was able to make an appointment quickly and was diagnosed and prescribed. It went downhill from there. My provider told me the prescription was sent to my pharmacy. For the next 72 hours I continued to check with my pharmacy to see if they had received it and was told no each time. After following up with the company I was told there was an issue with their prescription software and it would be resent shortly. I then received a different message from the support team telling me that they're not allowed to prescribe stimulants in my state (Minnesota). This situation could have been easily avoided by checking the state that I provided when signing up. They did refund my charges but I am rating 1 star because of the wasted time and lack of any outcome.

I live in an area where the only psych treatment is through tele-med. So I decided to see what was online. I was diagnosed with ADD in college, about 25 years ago; on and off treatment, tried numerous treatments. Prior to be treated, and when off of treatment, I used substances to help, opiates and alcohol. I've been sober for 10 years now. I scheduled a 45-minute assessment interview (was not the same day by the way) and the provider cancelled on me 10 minutes prior to the appt. So I had to reschedule a week later. Even though I have had good response to stimulants, the provider wanted to try another option first, one that I had tried already, but I understood and agreed. I feel it helped with my depression, but it also caused daily migraines.
I messaged the provider, but did not hear back. I was told he was leaving the company and I would have to reschedule another assessment interview; which was going to be 45 days after signing up for the program. 1st question from 2nd provider, (no introduction btw): "Why did you want to see another provider?" So nobody from ADHD Advisor informed her why I was seeing her, and already she's assumed that I'm doctor shopping. About 10 minutes in, the provider told me that they don't provide stimulants to people with my history (substance use), even though she thought this would help me the most. My last option was **/**, which I've taken, didn't tolerate and not effective.
So I'm hundreds of dollars in to this, only more discouraged and disappointed than I was before starting this whole charade. Maybe this provider didn't feel well equipped for my non-generic case, but I don't think my story is much different than others with ADD. In the end, there was no 100% money back guarantee; only that "providers may deny care for actual or suspected misuse of the Services for prescriptions"... Treatment is based on the "provider's own discretion and professional judgment." This provider talked down to me for 10 minutes before denying care; that was her "professional judgment".

My consult was very helpful, and I feel I was heard and not judged as it often feels talking to some providers in my area. The provider I talked to gave me sound advice and made sure I understood what was happening and what could be provided as well as what steps I could do to receive the services I need. My physician was very personable and knowledgeable. I felt like he knew me! He was able to empathize with my situation and provide me with options. He spent the entire visit educating and encouraging my treatment. I felt heard.
