My rent is always charging me differently every time I go pay my bill. I rented something and it was suppose to be new and it was used plus the blue-ray DVD in a store is $200.00 and they want over $1,000.00 are something that use it overcharging people.

I went in to make a payment on our weekly service agreement for a TV. We were 2 days late. I have been in Detroit and my husband just started a new job and gets called in and gets schedule changes on a daily basis. When I got to the counter and told the man that I wanted to make a one week payment, and I told him we were 2 days late. He looked up our information and asked the store manager standing next to him if we had a bi-weekly agreement, and I piped in to say no, it was weekly, and again that it was late.

The store manager then told him to change my date to Saturday, she didn't ask me, and she just made him change it. I asked her why. She then told me, "Obviously, Tuesday isn't good for you, and you get paid on Thursdays, right?" Then they told me what my balance was, which was over $50, and all the money I had left was $50, so I told them, "Well, since you changed my day to Saturday I guess you'll have to take this, and I’ll have to magically make money appear out of nowhere to pay the rest on Saturday.”

I was so angry. This particular store manager is rude to us every time we go in; we had an issue a few weeks ago with a different rental item. My husband had rented a PS3, and they didn't give him all the parts needed to use it. It was Memorial Day weekend, and he'd got it just before the store closed on Friday. Saturday morning he called them on his way to work to tell them what had happened and asked if he could get it taken care of on Tuesday (since they were closed the next 2 days for the holiday) and he was told it wouldn't be a problem.

He went in on Tuesday, and the store manager got lippy with him and told him that he should have brought it in on Saturday, even though he was told over the phone it would be taken care of on Tuesday. All he wanted was to not be charged for the 4 days of rental of a product he could not use. He kept his cool long enough to say that, and then some guy working in the back came out with his fists up in a fighting stance and told my husband, "You don't tell us what to do, we tell you what to do!"

Then my husband got very angry. He did swear a little and then left the store after demanding the district manager's number. He called the number and told them everything that happened, including him swearing at the guy, and a few days later we were given credit for the 4 days of rental. The manager there is very rude; she is snide and has no problem yelling at anyone. On top of this, when they couldn't get a hold of us recently to come in and make a payment, they called my husband's grandmother. How humiliating!

We are late sometimes, but we always pay them within 2 days of the date due. They have called us both at work. There is more than one Laura where I work, it just so happens that they talked to the wrong Laura and told her I needed to come make a payment or they were coming to our house to take the product back. How humiliating again. I understand they have to make money, but there is absolutely no reason to be treated this way by a company whose main concern is supposed to be customer service. My suggestion, find a different rental place. Any other non-corporate place will hopefully treat you with some semblance of respect. I am fed up with the service there.

I rent a two queen size mattress, living room set, dinette set. I had just move in a new apartment. Since I've been at the apartment I've been complaining of these bugs. I thought they were coming through the bedroom window since I keep it crack at all time. So I shut the window, spray my bedroom fresh linden and I still see bug on my bed. My coworker told me to check for bed bugs. I told her I'm too clean for that. I disinfect my bed every week. Came home and checked. Yes, bedbugs.

It took them three days to pick up beds. After I spoke to the store manager, she told me that she had to go through certain step for my situation even though I told her the apartment compel manager said this is a health hazard. Come get them today. They did not. She told very reason why I had bed bugs except for we're so sorry that our mattress were infected with bedbugs. Had pest company come and treat my home. He tells me that the sofa has eggs and bedbugs also. It takes them three day to come remove item from my home.

I had the furn in my home for five months and they lied. Corporate has not contact me or the district manager. All I get is the run around but if I was late for a payment, they would be at front door and calling, harassing my reference. I had to pay for the pest control treatment, everything in all my bed ware, rugs, vacuum, bites on my sons and I cant sleep for fear of bugs. Wasted $1200 on rent the turn that was infested, still having home treated.

Well, I have been renting things from them for years. Never had a lot of problems until now. I don't know whats going on. But they don't know how to talk to people, they call you the day of your payment is due. They don't give you a chance to come in and pay. They call your friends and tell them that you owe them,or that you are late. They also told me that I was late and that if I paid a certain amount, that my payment would be due on the 23th of July. Now they call me on the 17th saying it was due then. I just think they are beating people out of there money. People sometimes can't help being late, or having to rent from them.

So all I am saying is that they need to learn how to treat people. Because if it wasn't for us, they wouldn't have a job. They need to work on there customer skills. Now she is telling me that she didn't tell us that. And that we were 4 days late so we had to pay a extra week.

On Thursday July 15th 2010 I went to Rent a Center store in Hannibal MO after calling them by phone to inquire if they had an air conditioner to rent/purchase. I was told they had one a/c unit left, a Whirlpool 12,000 BTU that was electronic for $27.99 a week. I drove from La Belle MO to Hannibal MO to make the purchase when I was there Blake (Manager)informed me I would have to make monthly payments because I live too far away from that store location. When it is usually normal practice to have the option to make weekly, bi-monthly or monthly payments depending on the customer's payday but after discussing with the store manager in Quincy Illinois named Mike.

He agreed to let the Hannibal store transfer the purchase over to Rent A Center in Quincy Illinois so we could make our payments there and they would agree to let me make weekly payments as I live closer to Quincy then Hannibal. Only reason I did not buy one from the Quincy store initially was because they had no a/c units available.

I paid $45 to the Hannibal store after filing out the contract agreement. We loaded up the a/c unit (please note) that the store manager in Hannibal (Blake) had told me this unit was previous owned and he did not check the unit before I left the store to make sure it was in good working condition. I get the unit home, install it into my living room window and turn it on, the compressor was kicking on but the fan was not blowing or working. I contacted the Hannibal store and spoke to an employee who whom answered the phone and he stated the manager was not there but he would tell him in the morning. So I called Quincy Friday morning July 16th 2010 the very next day.

And the store manager said that he would take the a/c unit and will try to get me another unit as they had one nearby that was getting returned/repo. I loaded up the a/c unit and took it to the Quincy store; once there I am told I have to return it to Hannibal and that the store manager there had not transferred the contract nor the initial payment. I had to drive all the way back to Hannibal from Quincy to make the return. I am out of gas money, my time and patience’s for all my troubles not to mention not getting a good working air conditioner!

I told one of their workers that my mother went out of town and was sick and that I had to go get her. The young lady came to my house yesterday and I asked her to tell them to ask her to stay away, that I was gone and will pay them as soon as I get the money. I was accused of theft by Conversion by your store #02636. I was falsely accused. Mr. *** filed paperwork stating that I came into the store on March 4th, 2010 and rented a Sony laptop, which was a lie. He also stated I mailed a check for $200 on April 5, 2010, which I did not. The check clearly showed Randolph *** and his banking information. The envelope and check was mailed from West Virginia. The check was returned for insufficient funds. The store then called me. I told them I had nothing to do with that because it wasn't me. They then began to harass me.

So I then began trying to reach Mr. *** and I was told by a family member that he had a stroke which can be proven. He is now in a rehabilitation center in Pittsburgh. He was unconscious for two weeks and his whole left side is paralyzed. I tried explaining to Derrick and Mark at the store and they told me they didn't care if he died. They just wanted the property which I did not have. Then a month later, I get arrested on June 18th. If you record all conversations you will see what I'm saying is true. Your employees are very rude and disrespectful and need to take communication skills. After going to court, the case was dismissed by the state because I was wrongfully accused. Where is the justice in this? I have never rented anything in my entire life. I would not agree to pay almost $3,000 for a laptop which I already own one that I purchased from Best Buy for $429.

I rented a refrigerator from Rent-A-Center in June. Two weeks later, Amanda called my boss and told him that I have been hiding from them and avoiding them for 2 weeks. She came to my house and told my babysitter that my account was 2 weeks past due and that she had a court date with me in a week and a half, and that she has contacted my boss and she hoped that what she told my boss was very embarrassing for me. Since she has called and told my boss that my job has been in jeopardy, I feel that it has affected the relationship between me and my boss. She has contacted all of my references and told them the same thing.

Amanda said that she wanted all of my references to know that I do not pay my bills on time, and that I am hiding from them. Amanda came to my house and said that she wanted the refrigerator and my wife told her to come in and get it. She said that she was going to take it out of the house and put it on the porch until someone else could come to pick up and if it got stolen, that it would be my fault. So I told her to leave that she was not going to do that. They have called my phone numerous times and just held on to the phone not saying anything. After my wife told them that I was not home and that she just got to my daughter's home from the hospital having surgery and needed her rest. I have my cell phone records to prove that they called 9 times in 40 minutes. I feel that they have harassed me and all of my references, and broke the confidentiality on my account.

It's been a whole month since they had my computer. I also have a problem with them calling my phone harassing me about my payment when I was paying my payment before time. And we have several run ins with them about us overpaying them and them charging us what they want to.

I told them when I get my computer back they will get their last two payments. We don't have money to give away like that. I called on July 9, 2010 to talk to a young man by the name of Doug and a female worker answered the phone and asked me who I want to speak to and I told her Doug. She want to know who I was instead of giving Doug the phone and I said some things I should have because she **** me off. I moved in December due to a foreclosure and the house I rented did not have a refrigerator so I needed one as I had to leave the other one at the old house. Because of everything that happened, I ended up having to declare bankruptcy and then they sold the house out from under me but that is another story.

So I go to the local Rent-A-Center and got a refrigerator. For a while it worked great then things started getting hot in the bottom section so I called only to be told (and I am handicapped) that is was not a self-defrosting refrigerator and needed to be defrosted which my helper did. We left it unplugged all night and the next day everything was back like before only now all of my food in the refrigerator has spoiled.

So I called Rent-A-Center (and I hope you are sitting down) they could not make it good because I had paid the refrigerator off before I should have and the longer I paid on it. the more guarantee I would have. So what they want to do is come get it and charge me forty dollars for the rent on another one for two weeks plus whatever it takes to fix this one up without any guarantee that it will work after they fix it.

I am a Senior Citizen on Medicare and I just cannot afford to go out every day and buy a new refrigerator but I need one in the worst way. So here I sit unable to buy a new one because of the bankruptcy and if I let Rent-A-Center take this one, there is no guarantee that it will work once they return it and I will always have to defrost it.

I don't know what Rent-A-Center establishment everyone is going to, but mine is wonderful. I have bought several pieces of furniture over the last two years and never had any problems. In fact when my couch that I had paid off already broke, due to a manufacturer defect, they picked it up then took it back to the company that made it and brought it back when it was fixed. They were even offering me a new couch if the old one couldn't be fixed, at no extra charge. They are always friendly and greet me and my husband by name when we walk in, which is amazing to me because I live in a big city.

I had one issue where I had to rush out of town for a week and forgot to make my payment when I left. They called me and I explained that my father-in-law was in the hospital & we were out of the state at the moment but I would be back in a few days and then I would make the payment. They assured me that that was not a problem and said they hoped my father-in-law would get better (which he did by the way). I even love the fact that when we bring my 3 year old grandson with us, the manager pulls up the paint program on the touch screen computer so he can play with it. I don't know maybe I'm just lucky!

As well as I was instructed that this computer had never been previously used but there is evidence of at least 2 other users who had this computer besides myself. They sent me information in the mail that says my lease had expired and I need to come in and renew the lease which is in fact a lie. My lease was not up yet and I have now requested in writing all this information. They keep lying to me and making excuses, especially in regards to the product key and about the lease being up. They mislead me because they want me to come in. Never advised me of total costs that I am aware of and assured me that they were leasing me a new computer so it's okay to sign up because the used information does not apply to me, so we can bypass that note because it doesn't apply.

I have been told so many lies by these people. Is lying this much even legal that was Armand who told me that, which was a bold face 100% lie! I believe that I have been scammed since the very first day I signed up. Please help me find out if what this store is doing to the poor is right and fair. I am a 62 year old woman living of disability. I needed to purchase a sofa and a TV for my living room but did not have the money to pay for it upon purchase. Someone spoke to me about Rent-A-Center so I went to them. Immediately, they fill you up with the idea that you can purchase anything from them without any credit check and with the ability to pay for it weekly/semi-monthly or monthly. Naturally, they make it look so nice that you fall right into it. I first purchase a sofa. If I paid for the sofa before 3 months, I would have to pay the amount of almost 2 sofas, if I did not pay it within the 90 days well you end up paying way over 2 times the price of the sofa.

Then stupid me needed a TV for my living room and the day that I went to make my last payment before the 90 days were up for the sofa I saw this 37 inch TV with DVD player on display. The manager told me it would cost me $1304.57 plus $12.40 tax with every payment you make. If I paid for the TV before the 90 days, again I would pay only $130.47 for the TV. If I went beyond the 90 days, I would actually end up paying $1,524.83 for a TV that is worth only $849.99. It is a 37 inch TV/DVD model number 37MD359B/37.

I need to know if this is legal. Also both items I purchased were floor models, yet they charged me the regular price and I've told that if it is a floor model they must charge me less for the items. Also, how much tax is on $1,304.57? I personally feel this people are robbing people and since we don't know they are getting away with it. Please help me.

While their prices are higher than regular furniture stores, they gave someone like me, who has terrible credit, the opportunity to buy nice furniture.

That is the price you pay for messing up your credit. when you sign the contract they are very specific about the terms and prices. So if they are knocking at your door, calling your family, or your job or you feel they are harassing you. If you paid your payments as you agreed to when you sign the contract, then they wouldn't have the need to try to get their property back. I called today 6/10/10, to receive my deposit back and my five-day credit but I was told by ** that no credit was due for the washing machine leak because there were no notes in my folder regarding it.

I told him that was why they came out and he said he checked with the manager and that there will be no credit for the washing machine leak because there are no notes on my files.

Water leaked all over my garage floor and I spent 15 minutes wiping it up and trying to prevent other items in my garage from getting wet.

I have rented from them since last year or maybe more, and I've already paid into my furniture more than $2,000 and I have had some economic problems. I understand that its their job to call me to ask for the payment but not my entire family. They also came to my job, which that also caused me to almost get fired. I do not want to lose my furniture. I've paid so much in to it and to lose it and lose my money, it's not worth it. I've always called them to tell them if I'm going to be late and they say "Oh, it's fine," but yet they go to my house and harass me.

One day, my children were outside and they told them that they were there to pick up the TV and that they had to go inside. They were there with their grandmother and they ran inside scared. You shouldn't do that when there is children. Now, they are scared to go outside because of what happened. I don't think it's fair that just because some of us have to use services like Rent-A-Center, because we don't have good credit to get furniture anywhere else, they have to harass us every day. Then when nobody answers the door at home, they peek through the windows and that is our privacy! I have gotten behind in my payments because they keep hiring the total and the late fees. Yeah, they say I took some late fees off but then when I called to check the total, it's a never ending story. Sometimes, I feel like returning the items but to just see the money go down the drain and not have anything. That's what depresses me.

I have had purchased a bedroom set from Rent-A-Center in the past. I also had rented a dinette set from them which I no longer wanted in 2007 so I returned it within the 90 days. Now, I recently went back to get a laptop out and I was denied service which was humiliating. The reason, according to Giovanni, the assistant manager, was because it showed on his system that I never returned the dinette set, which is false. I did return it but with all these changing and firing managers, they are a mess in the stores. Now, Rent-A-Center are known for harassing people if they don't make a payment, etc. If that was my case, I extremely doubt if I would have been the exception.

Now, I find this out that day and right away, Giovanni gives me the customer service's 800 number and helps the other customer. What bad customer service. Now, I talked to a district manager about that. His name is John. He was really nice and he apologized for that store in Norwalk. But that doesn't change a thing about the bad moment I had that day.

They didn't give any options to replace the furniture with a new one, now, we're upset. On Saturday, May 15, 2010, I went to Rent A Center to inquire about a folding bed. The sales rep showed me what they had in a catalog. Even though it was a bit costly, I went ahead and decided to get the chair he had shown me which converts into a bed. I specifically told him, "I need the bed for my ill father that was coming to NY for three weeks." I also told him that the bed would be delivered to my mother's address not mine. The sales rep told me it was no problem. He told me I would receive it between 12 pm and 6 pm on Tuesday, May 18, 2010. I reminded him several times, that it was important that I receive the bed because it was for my father who was ill and he could not sleep in an air mattress due to his condition. He again reassured me that I would have it on Tuesday. I paid the first two weeks and signed a contract. Before leaving, I confirmed the address of delivery. He told me someone would call me during early hours to inform me of delivery.

Tuesday came and no one ever called. There was no confirmation call, and no delivery call; however, they did call my employer to see if I was a responsible person. About 3 pm, I called them and they kept telling me that they were trying to get a hold of the delivery person and that they would call me back. Again, there were no calls at all. I went to pick my father up from the airport and calling again and again. The person on shift was extremely unprofessional. About 8 pm,another man called my phone from a different number telling me he would deliver but someone had to help him upstairs. About 8:30, the same man called again telling me that he could not bring the sofabed because the address was different. I explained to him that at Rent A Center, they knew that. He was also very nasty and rude. He said he was going to call them to confirm and call me back. I waited and waited and there was no call back. Finally, at about 9:30 pm, I called him again and he told me he wasn't going to deliver anything because of the difference in address.

Finally, no bed was delivered. My elderly father had to sleep on the floor on an air mattress which I had to go purchase because there was no bed for him to sleep in. The next day, May 19, 2010, I called the same man who had originally taken care of my order and I explained to him the lack of professionalism that Rent A Center had. He assured me the sofabed would be delivered by 12:30. Again no one showed up at 12:30. I called them to cancel the order at about1 pm and he told me that he would definitely be there by 1:30, the latest. Finally, the man got there. but as a result my father is in excruciating pain because he is a sick man of 71 years old. This is a horrible experience for myself and my father. I would never, ever use their services again.

Well, I went to the store, told them why I was there and what I wanted. They told me they would use that money toward the new washer dry I wanted because that's they only reason I would get anything from there. Well, they lied to my face. I didn't get the store credit. They call me every Saturday about my payment that I always make on time and never been late on. I don't want the washer or dryer now because of that. I rent over $310.00 of furniture from this store. Well yesterday I went in to pay my payment and took a couple of pictures. I took just before I went down of the damage to my washer and dryer. I have had this for a few months, and it tears up my clothes. They had a serviceman come over, and it's still doing the same thing. The damage on the outside of my washer and dryer were the pictures of the out side of both. I showed the manager the pictures and he said to me those are the same picture. I could not believe he would just stand there and accuse me of being a liar.

So I asked him if he had a dryer like mine there because my dryer got so hot inside right after I got the drier, that the screen inside is all black. So of course this is my fault also. He said that I did not have enough clothes in the dryer. I have had so much !@#$ from this store that if I hadn't put so much money into my furniture, I would just get away from them. I rented a black sofa and lounge living room chair also and all the material were coming off it. So they had a gentleman call me from Vermont, and after I told him what was happening to it, he told me I would hear from the store. I never heard from the store.

I had to call them to replace the two pieces of living room with a fireplace and a lounge chair, then I wouldn't even put it out beside the road to give it away. So I ended up calling Vanice and he said they had ordered a new chair for me. I have dealt with these people since 1999, and I am a gold card customer. Their customer service is unbelievable, it is so bad. Vanice is the gentleman I always dealt with and yesterday when I went in, I asked to speak to him, as he was sitting right there with Todd and someone else.

That's when I took out my camera and showed Todd the pictures of the washer and dryer. I do not like dealing with these people but I am stuck now that I have given them so much money. Customer service is so wrong with this store. Todd is what you would call a cocky person to speak to start with, and I wondered when Vanice did not want to talk to me on my problems, seeing he has been since I bought the furniture. I did pay a full payment and I told them that I wanted a new washer and dryer or some money taken off.

I have contacted an attorney who is looking into a class action suit for us. He is considering this suit against RAC for unfair collection actions, misrepresenting and taking advantage of poor people. RAC works very hard getting legislation passed to protect their exorbitant prices for new and used merchandise. By getting laws passed to protect RAC and keep rental companies from having a limit to the interest and prices they charge their demographic financially challenged, or in other words they are marketing and exploiting the poor and folks with "bad" or no credit. We too must band together, references, customers of RAC who ended up abused, coerced and overcharged, then subjected to unfair debt collection methods.

Rent-A-Center is horrible. If you give them references on the application, they will call the references you posted, call your neighbors, and harass you for payment days earlier. Up to 8 calls within two days before payment is due. I advise anyone not to ever rent from Rent-A-Center stores. They do not do fair debt collection acts. They bully, coerce and never should be used under any circumstances. Everyone should get together and file a class action suit against them and then they will respect people, their rights, their references and act like human beings with dignity, compassion and start respecting the debt collection practices. Let's all get together and file a class action suit.

I own a rental property in Beaver Falls, PA. I rented to a section 8 tenant who occupied the premises for one year. During that time, I resided in Maryland. The tenant during that period rented a washer/dryer from the Rent-A-Center store located in Chippewa, PA. I, myself being unaware of the rental itself or the time that she possessed the items, found upon my return to PA at the time of the tenants lease expiration date that the tenant had not been making the required payments due on the washer/dryer and had fallen two months behind. This was at the time of my returning to PA intending to move back into the main part of the house again after her lease expiration one month later, moved all of my belongings to my garage and the basement of the house since there was nowhere else to put them until her vacating the premises.

During this time, Rent-A-Center began calling the tenant trying to retrieve the items. After the tenant alerted them that the landlords (myself) belongings were blocking them in, Rent-A-Center told her that she would have to either move our belongings or to make us move them so that they could get into get the items or that charges would be filed against both the tenant and myself for refusal to return the property to them. At that time, I called the district magistrate's office to find out all the information that I could concerning my rights as the landlord where this matter is concerned. At this time, the district magistrates office informed me that the only charges able to be filed in this matter were against the person that rented the property and those could only be done as a civil matter and not a criminal and that "no" charges either criminal or civil could be brought against the landlord.

Also that we were not required to move our belongings for them to get in to get the washer/dryer that they were required to make arrangements with myself as to what date they would be able to retrieve these items, which was never done! One month later, when the tenants lease expired and she vacated the premises, she left the washer/dryer and never even told Rent-A-Center that they were to come and make arrangements with me to pick up their merchandise. Rent-A-Center therefore proceeded to threaten me and the tenant who no longer even lived on the premises with the police who said they did not want called any longer that it was a civil matter and that they needed a constable and not them. They never came to make arrangements to pick up their property and all around lied to both myself and the tenant! They told the tenant that they had been here to my home to make arrangements to pick up the washer/dryer and that I refused to allow them to get it when in fact, I had my fiance and myself called the store on several occasions asking why they had not come and they would tell me or my fiance that they would be there on a certain date or time and then never show up causing me to lose money from missing work!

They told people that my girlfriend both threatened them and threw things out the back door at them when they came into the backyard when in fact, they were never even there. They accused my girlfriend of having rented a TV from their store which she never did and accused both she and I with turning our dog loose on them and running up behind one of them when they were here to pick up the washer/dryer finally, which what happened was that my "harmless" dog got out while they were here to do the pick up and ran into the street and my girlfriend ran out after him and yelled for me to get the dog.

Then after the pick up, they went around the block and came directly back, called my girlfriend by someone else's name and accused her of having a TV that she doesn't know anything about and told her that she had better shut up while she was ahead since they had already filed theft charges against her which upon calling the magistrate again found out that they didn't even know what Rent-A-Center was talking about either. They threatened to call the police on both myself and my fiance for putting their property out on the sidewalk which did not happen before they arrived to pick it up.

I had told my fiance to call the store which she did and told them that we were putting it out on the sidewalk and that they could pick it up whenever they wanted since I had spoke with my former tenant the evening of 4/23/10 and she said that she had just got a call from them threatening her and I told her to call back and let them know that I would be home on Sat 4/24/10 between 8am and 12 pm and that they were free to come at that time to pick up their merchandise but that we would not be home after that. She said that she called them and that they would be there then but as usual they never showed up. At 6 pm, the former tenant called telling us that Rent-A-Center was at her door threatening her with the police and that they were here and we refused again to give them the merchandise. At that time, my fiance called them and told them that they could pick it up right now because we were going to put it outside since they wanted to lie and say that they were here to get it and were not.

While my fiance was on the phone with the store, the truck pulled up and picked up the merchandise. While talking to the man on the phone at the store, I was informed that they sat down the street from my home two days earlier in the truck for several hours but never came to the door to see if anyone was home or never called to see if they would be able to pick up the merchandise at that time. Also during the time, the one person stated that they had drove passed this morning and that they've seen my car out front so they knew that some one was home but they never came to the door.

I am a self-employed businessman and lost quite a bit of money missing jobs to make myself available for Rent-A-Center to pick up merchandise and they never showed up. My fiance is very ill and has her up days and her down days which has taken a toll on her health with the stress of worrying about the entire situation. I will also be filing harassment charges (as a beginning) against Rent-A-Center and will have to take the money from my pocket to file, money that does not come easy in these trying times and especially for a self-employed small businessman. I also would be glad to talk with one of your attorneys on this matter since I am not the only residents in my area that has had similar situations with this particular Rent-A-Center store or general manager.

I had Rent-A-Center pick up a living room set and a television. One they were supposed to pick up between 3-5 pm. They did not arrive until 7:45 pm. When they were trying to wedge the furniture out the door and realized that it was not fitting that way, they had left multiple scratches on my oak real hardwood floor. I told them what they did and showed them what they did. One of the two responded back to me that this is a trap. I asked him what that meant and he replied we pick up your stuff and we have to pay for this that is a trap.

Of course, I was not a happy customer. I called the manager Randy and told him what had occurred and how I was treated. He guaranteed me he is notifying the headquarters and this damage to my hardwood floor will be taking care of. Now, of course, I took pictures and the two men took their own pictures. When my husband was told of such situation, he spoke with the manager over the phone to make sure this problem would be resolved. The manager told him the men showed him their pictures and they were small. My husband told him to make sure this gets resolved we have pictures. The manager stated he would call tomorrow to see what has to be done. That would be 4/6/10. We are great customers and have two other accounts with them.

I moved down here 5 months ago into a house my sister rented for me. She rented a washer and dryer from RAC. I have requested 5 dryers in 5 months. The last guy told me, I had electrical problems because their dryers work. I had the electrical checked and just as I suspected, they don't have a clue what's going on. How can this place stay in business? They bring crap out to rent to people and the servicemen are as dumb as the broken equipment.

You call for service and then are told that they will be out the day after you called. Then you don't know if the piece of junk that they are bringing will even work when it gets there. I personally think they should just close the doors or let someone else run the place. It seems like a great idea, renting to the public. They're just not smart enough to do it. I personally will never rent from them again. It's far easier to go to the laundry mat.

Rent A Center is a joke... Do not buy any items from them. Over several years of dealing with Rent A Center, my husband passed away. At the time, the Manager Tony was very helpful and gave me a week or more to get things under control. Everything was fine for a long time. I never made a late payment nor were any payments not made. Over the course of many years, I purchased a living room, dinette, bedroom, stereos, TV's never had a problem. Until they hired a guy that could barely speak English who's name was Eddie G.

My payments were due on Saturdays. This employee would call my home every Saturday morning at 8 a.m. reminding me to make my payment. After several request to the Manager to not let this man call my home so early on Saturday mornings. They continued every Saturday morning. I finally threatened to pay off the entire balance of what I owed and never, ever deal with this company again. After several attempts at trying to talk to these people, about the harassing phone calls every week, I went into Rent A center and paid the balance in full. I told them that I would never deal with them again. They called my house on numerous occasions trying to get me to buy something. I informed them that I was done dealing with them, since they don't seem to understand when a customer makes a complaint about an employee, they are demanding something to be done. Unfortunately, Rent a Center lost a very good customer who has taken their business to Aarons.

Rent-A-Center took it a couple of times and brought it back and said it was fixed when in fact they never fixed it. I called Jenn the manager and was told they would come and get it and swap it out for another washer. They brought a black washer that smelled like sour milk and my set is white. I fought with them to come and get the black washer and to fix my white washer but I got told "we don’t know what to tell you."

I withheld my last payment until the washer was fixed and then I found out that the washer had been charged off months earlier but I was still paying. Now I still have a broken washer that I have invested $3,000 dollars into and for what a washer that they refuse to fix. Rent-A-Center is a company that should be closed down for I am not the only customer that has had bad dealings with. They had been banging on the door for about 15 minutes already. I told my daughter to open the door and tell them that we were not home and they would have to come back later because the only people home were minors.

John ** told my 15- and 12-year-old daughters that they would be back at 7pm with the police to get their merchandise and have us escorted out of the apartment. Of course, this completely upset my girls and the two younger siblings who were there with them.

My neighbor came out of her apartment and told them they needed to quit beating on the door like that because they were disturbing everyone in the building. They proceeded to tell my neighbor that we owed them money and if we would just give them their **, they would leave us alone. Mind you, we were only one payment ($55.00) behind and had been paying on it for a year already. On our way back into town, my husband and I stopped by Rent-A-Center to tell them to come get their stuff.

I told the two men who came to my house that they had slandered my name to all my neighbors by yelling like they had and that they should never threaten minor children. Both the men stood there and lied to my face telling me they did not say anything to my neighbor and did not threaten my children. I have tried to call the district and regional managers and even had a gentleman from another Rent-A-Center send the district manager an e-mail and have gotten no response or call backs. Don't shop Rent A Center, don't work for Rent A Center period. History lesson first: I started working for Rent A Center in 2003 as an account manager, now called a "CAR" customer account rep; it seemed like an okay choice at the time but as time went on, I realized that like all the other "big business" companies out there, they are as crooked as can be. Starting at the ground leve,l I had the chance to experience it all: sales, deliveries, and collections and management.

No matter how good the offer seems, it's a lot of smoke and mirrors. Once you're in the door, you're got that goes for renting from them or working for them. While working for RAC, I sustained an injury. At this point, I had worked for the company for 6 years and had been promoted several times to the position of Lead Assistant Manager. Immediately following my injury, I reported it to my supervisor and asked him to file a report as I was instructed to do more than a handful of times each year I worked there. It's common accident reporting procedure drilled into everyone's head day in and day out.

Do you think he did it? No. I subsequently had the next day off and he asked me to see how I felt the next work day. Two days later, I returned to work with an "appendage" swollen to the point that it won't function correctly and in extreme discomfort but manageable. Working for RAC, you quickly learn to build up a pain tolerance; it might have something to do with being required to lift several hundred pounds of appliances and furniture up flights of stairs over your head. Hmm, food for thought.

Anyway I requested again that I be allowed to go to the ER to have my "appendage" looked over by a physician, I asked if he had completed the report he said he was working on it. I continued on for 2 days this way. The reason I hadn't gone to the ER was that without the proper documentation, it would have been on my dime. And that wasn't going to happen after 6 years of dedicated service to a multibillion dollar company that couldn't obviously care less about its bread and butter so to speak.

So by the end of that week, I had worn them down and the report was started that day again. After going to the ER and finding out that I most likely had a torn rotator or at the least and extreme sprain, I was immediately put off work. This cost me my career, and cost me my cars, both of them and the race car

Then one night while I was away due to my medicines that I'm on, the employee, Maria, started texting my cell phone at 12 am uttering threats towards me. This kept continuing. Finally, I looked the number up online and it came back as the employee for Rent-A-Center and she also is harassing my mother who is terminally ill. She's calling her and saying shes a **** liar. My mom does not need that kind of stress.

So anyways, I have gone to the police with this matter. My family members have spoken to Adam, the manager, which nothing has been solved with this employee. As to this day, she is still calling everybody and harassing them. I don't think it was appropriate for a Rent-A-Center employee to leave the store with my phone # or any of my business at that, calling me and harassing me with her personal phone. Who's to say she doesn't get to my address as easy as she did my number.

Please respond to this complaint to see if we can resolve this matter. Due to the harassment of the employee, I'm afraid to call or appear at that store. If we can't resolve this matter, I will look into pressing harassment charges against that store and its employees. The police have record of this harassment as well the employee's phone number. It has caused me to have fear. This employee got my number so that means she has access to my address. She took my confidentiality out of your store and used it to harass me. She has texted me threatening me as I've stated above. The police have a report of such matter.

When I asked for the one I was promised, I was told that it would cost 3 times as much. Then I was told one price for a washer and dryer set and never received the contract so I have had to pay over and over again for this mistake. I have been paying every month for my merchandise and I am continually harassed day and night and at work about 30 calls a day from these people, because they can't credit my account correctly and then I end up paying double what I would if they would have fixed it in the first place and this is still continuing.

I have left three messages with corporate and still haven't received a phone call back. I have paid for the use of the washer and dryer and haven't been able to do laundry in over 2 months because the washer and dryer broke down the beginning of December and it took them 3 weeks to "schedule" a swap out and the "swapped" washer never worked from day one. And I called them after the new year and let them know. I again called two weeks later asking for my washer and was told by Russel that it wasn't back in.

Then when my "payment" was "due" again, they called me and asked me for a payment and I told them that I was paid till the end of the month and they again told me I was incorrect and need to pay an additional payment to get "caught up" and at this time I was told that they had been trying to get a hold of me for over three weeks to schedule a delivery of my washer and dryer (at this time I was also told that my dryer wasn't ever sent out to be fixed). I scheduled for the following Saturday at between 2-3 pm and they failed to show up but told the bosses there was no answer at the door. I was home all day and have dogs so if someone would have come to the door the dogs would have barked.

So this being said I was again called today and was told that I needed to pay over $300 or my merchandise would be picked up. I asked about my credit and when I was going to get my w/d back, they said without the money, I wouldn't be getting anything and I can't have a credit. There is so much more.

This has been an ongoing thing and it seems like the store or the DM is not doing a thing about it.

My husband contacted the store back on 2-2-10 about this and this was a week after we got this laptop back from them. After he talked to Barb at the store, I wasn't happy so I contacted their 1800 number. After calling them twice, the DM decided to call me back and I talked to him and he informed me that they will find me another laptop. Well, now here it is going on a week and I still don't have another laptop and at the end of the week which will be 2-13-10, my laptop will be due a payment. I feel why should I make a payment when nothing seems to be getting done.

Now, I really don't want to get my attorney involved in this but if I don't get some kind of headway with this, then I guess I won't have no other choice but to do a legal way. I gave the company and the DM enough time to take care of this matter and I'm just so sick and fed up with it all. Let's say this laptop has been in and out of the shop for at least 6 months for the same thing and now their tech is trying to say that I'm at fault and that I used up all the memory on this laptop. But you know what, I talked to my tech and if that was the case, well, then their tech didn't do their job all those times when it went in the shop because if they did, I can't use up all the memory on this laptop for what I do.

If they would do their job, period, I should not be having the same problem over and over. I really hope you can help me in this because like I said, I'm sick of all this and I feel like I'm being played with. Now I do understand that we had a winter storm this weekend but they should have taken care of this way before this. When I asked for a different laptop a few months ago, the manager, Greg, at that time told me he couldn't do that. Please contact me asap on this matter.

You don't muscle me into a payment after you give a service I am paying an arm and leg for, plus your competitor at Wal-Mart sells the same computer for $399.00 and I am paying five times over that and you want to say you're doing me a favor?

I suggest you check the market with your competitors and treat your customers with better respect because they can come pick this computer up and with 2 of your payments. I can become a customer of Wal-Mart with better satisfaction, and you can look for another customer. Tremendous amount of stress, I felt harassed in my own home with two men talking, at the same time, rude to me. I told them I will never allow them to come out and service me ever. I was terribly insulted and ganged up on with negative responses from the both of them.

On January 19, my wife got a phone call from RAC about us paying for our account. I gave them a verbal agreement to pay that day (Thursday). My wife asked if it was possible to pay on Friday because of some other things had come up. They refused to give my wife the extra day and wanted the dryer and TV because we're behind 2 weeks. We have been paying for these 2 items over 2 years. They have helped us with 2 extensions but other than that, we have made our payments.

My wife told them I was not home and please wait till Friday. But they came over wanting the dryer and TV. They called my home phone in a very unprofessional character. This was totally uncalled for and it sent a very wrong message about customer service. My wife and I work hard for money; it seems so unfair to be treated like common thieves.

In 2007, I rented a 57-inch projection HD TV from Rent a Center. They told me it was used TV, but that once I paid for it, I would get a new one. Right before I was done paying for the old TV and ready to get my new one, Rent a Center changed their name to Get it Now. They said that I wasn't getting my new TV because they changed their name, but corporate office was still under Rent a Center. So in effect, I paid full price for a used TV, which does not work. I feel I should get some of my money back or a new TV.

I rented an LCD TV from Rent a Center. I allowed my brother to stay with me because my apartment is in his name to help him out, but only I make all payments regarding my place of residence. When I rented the TV, instead of them placing it in my name, they placed it in mine and his name. Long story short, my brother stole the TV when I left home to go to work. He has since been removed from my home and I have filed a police report for him stealing the TV.

I felt so embarrassed that I continued to make payments, but when I mentioned to Tasha, the manager, she developed a nasty attitude and refused to take my police report. Now, I am being harassed. I rented a Dinnette set and she says that she was cancelling my account and asks me to return the merchandise, so I had them pick up the dinnette set. I will file charges for harassment, if I have to, regarding her inappropriate behavior. I would never allow myself to be placed in a position like this, had I known my own brother would steal from me.

I used Rent-A-Center in Weymouth, MA to purchase a mattress set. I was told up front if there were issues with it, they would replace it as they had known complaints about recent mattresses purchased. I had no issues with paying the bed off before the 90 days -- still way over paid for it. The mattress was horrible which had the issues they warned me about. But it became such a hassle to try and get the replacement. I just gave up and chalked it up to experience.

During this, because they appeared to be accommodating when I complained about my mattress, telling me they had none in stock but would get a shipment in the next 2 weeks---which by the way went on for over a year, I chose to get a large flat screen TV from them. When I figured out what the final cost would be as opposed to saving up and buying one, I returned the TV.

Here's the kicker. When Lewis came to pick up the TV, I asked for a receipt so I had proof it had been returned. He balked for a bit but finally gave me one. The calls started the following week when the next payment would be due. They called me multiple times at home and at work even after I told them I returned the TV. Then the idiot on the phone asked, "Well, do you have proof?" And when I said, "I most certainly do. I have a signed receipt from the day it was picked up", he sounded like he was not expecting me to and became a little irked that I had proof. I explained to him if they called me one more time, I would go after them for harassment. I never heard form them again.

As of December 2009, they tell me I still have until October 2010 until they are paid off. I have paid over $10,000 as of December. I cannot afford to do this any longer. I bring home $244 a week and it is taking $224 to make my payment and I don’t have enough left for bills. I have since returned the dining room, living room, tables and lamps and laptop. They tell me that I can get the laptop back if I pay $1900.00. I can buy a new one for that and have been paying $30.00 a week on it since January to December, and the pay off is $1900.00.

I cannot make heads or tails of my receipt. When I pay and when asked to explain, they are reluctant to tell me anything, just when you will be in to pay us. I don’t think that these practices are fair and something needs to be done about this before other people get taken in. The prices that are on these items when you buy is nowhere near the same amount that you pay. Please help me before I lose everything that I have worked for this year. Due to a marital separation, I was forced to rent to own a leather sectional, a 42-inch flat screen TV and a surround sound package. It was unfortunate, but fine for the time. The initial problem started when the first payment was due, and I received no less than 5 calls on that day regarding that payment, even though I had told them when the payment would be made that day. I took care of that and most subsequent payments online, seeing that I grew quickly tired of the incessant phone calls. What I did not foresee was what their reaction would be once they could not get a hold of me by phone; messages on my apartment door, showing up at my apartment at all hours of the day or night, etc.

I then ran into the unfortunate dilemma of losing my full time job and income in mid December 2009. I still attempted to make payments on this stuff until after 1/1/10, but once my payments stopped, they began the incessant calls, showing up at the door, ringing the buzzer, and went to such illegal lengths as to call my mother and tell her that they were looking for me, while leaving threatening messages on my phone. What is most disturbing is that I was forced to sign up for "Benefits Plus", which was supposed to protect me by paying my payments for me should I lose my income. That's funny, since you have to go to the store to pick up the claim form, and then negotiate with them as to how much they will demand from you. I have resolved myself to have them pick up their stuff tonight, and to go without any TV or living room furniture for my kids because I will not deal with any more stress from such an illegal outfit.

This past Wednesday a Rent-A-Center box truck came to pick up a washer and dryer from my house. On their way out, they knocked down the power line to my house which also knocked down the pole attached to my house and destroyed the meter box. Hose and Chuck were the two Rent-A-Center employees that came to the house, Hose being the driver. The power line that took down the pole also took a piece of the house with it. I called Progress Energy to the house so they can get the power line off the ground. That was around 5 pm. When Progress Energy came to the house, they had to cut the power off to the house so they could re-attach the power line.

After finishing, they tell us that they cannot turn the power back on to the house because of the damage to the meter box and that it would be a hazard to turn it back on in that condition and they told us that we needed to get an electric company out to fix the box before they can turn it back on. Mind you, we have an electric run home, we use space heaters for heat and an electric pump house for water so not only did we not have any lights but we had no heat and it was extremely cold. We had no water, no nothing and it’s going on 7:30 pm. I called Rent-A-Center. Hose, by this time, came to find out and he still had not even put in report about the situation. I told Hose that what was going on and he seems unconcerned with what my family and I have to go through right then and more concerned with not having to take responsibility for this.

After reminding him that he was driving the truck and not me, also acknowledging the fact that it was not intentional, he tells me that he is not going to be able to find an electric company this late and that there is nothing that he can do about it. They were about to close also anyway. I asked him if I can find one, if they will be able pay for it and he says they have some kind of H&R block card that would take care of it. I, unlike him, find a 24-hour electric company in the phone book called Progressive Electric Company and I asked them to come out. But of course, they need to know that they are going to be paid. I give them the number to Rent-A-Center so they can confirm the payment. When the technician calls back, he not only tells us that he cannot come out that night but in his words, he was getting the run around from Hose when it came down to the payment.

I called Rent-A-Center to see what the problem was and hose tells me that he doesn't think that they will be able to pay for the repairs to my home. I expressed to him the extreme concern for my family and our living conditions at that point in time and Hose showed no concern at all telling me that there was nothing he could do about it. I came to find that there was something he could have done about it and he could have put us up in a hotel. All he offered was for us to pack up all of our food and rush to the store before they left and put all our food in their freezer. My two children, my fiancé and I had to spend the night in a freezing house. My kids woke up several times in the night, shaking and I had them more than fully clothed.

The next morning, a very concerned technician came to the house just to see how bad it was. It was bad. He told my fiancé, Zachary Carl, that he was going to go ahead and start calling Rent-A-Center to make sure he was going to get paid and to get the ball rolling on fixing the problem. That was at 8 o'clock in the morning. I started calling Rent-A-Center around 8:23 am but they didn't open until 9 am. When they opened, I spoke with Ty, the store manager, who knew nothing of what happened and there was no report written up on anything so I had my fiancé explain the situation to him in the end. Ty, the store manager, was very helpful unlike his employee. We were given the run around by almost every Rent-A-Center person we spoke to. Ethel, the rudest liability manager, and David **** is just a jerk.

Progressive Electric Company had put in the paper work to Rent-A-Center early that morning. In their words, again, they were given the run around to avoid payment and also delay the inspector. The payment wasn't confirmed until around 11 to 12 pm and you have to get to the inspector way before that just so he'll come out that day. The electric company’s technician, Clint, finishes around 3:30 pm that day and he tells us that he doesn't think that the inspector will get there until midday on Friday. I called Progress Energy to tell them that the electric company has fixed the box and I now needed them to come and turn the power back on. They tell me that they can't until the inspector gets there.

After I get off the phone with Progress Energy, I called Ty and let him know the situation and he tells me that he is going to call the district manager, Darleena ****, to see about getting us a hotel. After calling the headquarters several times and even calling ABC 11 Troubleshooters and letting Rent-A-Center know that I did that and my fiancé is having conversation with what seemed like every head person in the company, we got a hotel but the damage is still done. My youngest son woke up sick, his nose was running and he was coughing. It is 5:53 in the morning. I’ve been up with my youngest since 2:30 am. He has been vomiting non-stop and he can't hold his stool.

If it were your children, your four and five-year olds, what would you want from Rent-A-Center? Would a hotel be enough? Would that cover the stress? The sick children? The lack of shower, bathroom and not being able to brush our teeth? As grateful as I am, that my children do not have to endure another cold night, watching my son vomit and **** all over himself makes me say with no problem. It’s not enough and the people should know what kind of lying artist runs in Rent-A-Center. My son is really sick. My family was treated wrongly and the whole process was handled very poorly by Rent-A-Center’s management except for the store manager Ty.

I honestly have to say, after reading some of the consumer complaints about Rent-A-Center, I'm shocked that they're still in business. I went to Rent-A-Center a few weeks ago to find a recliner lift chair, needed for surgical purposes, they told me to come back a few days before the chair was needed. And so I did, so now being a few days away from the procedure, I went back to make the arrangements to have it delivered.

When I arrived, a man greeted me and asked if I needed help. I then proceeded to tell him what I needed, being that the guy I spoke with was at lunch. As he was looking up my request, he handed me a rental form. He said to fill out the front of it. I sat down and started to fill out the from, I then simply asked why my SS# was needed, they stated for security reasons. I then continued with the form, and immediately came to a halt again, wondering why they needed all of my personal information meaning, my spouse's info, clear down to what kind of car I drive.

I then asked why and again they said for security reasons. I said, “Well, I don't think that is necessary”, and again they disagreed. I then stated I was only in need of this chair for one week but according to their service, there was a two week minimum, which was fine with me because I had intentions on paying the balance in full. He then said, “Well, then just put your name and your address and at least four references”. I said okay. Well I got to three references and I just did not have another to put down. I tried to explain to the man that I could not put anyone else on, he then said, “Well, then I can't rent you the chair.” I then turned to the manager, as he too explained me the rental agreement form had to be filled out.

I then said to him my situation of only needing it for the two weeks and paying up front, but he insisted that that was no excuse, I then simply asked for his supervisor's name and number, he started to tell me and I asked for him to write it down. He refused and then proceeded to walk away. I said I wasn't leaving without the number, which was rightfully mine to have. He then turned to his co-worker and told him to call the police. I then said, “Are you serious? You are required to give me that number”.

I then stated I would be back, and demanded that he give my rental agreement back, being half of my personal information was on it. I grabbed it and left, and before I could make it out the door he said, "I know where you live". The scary part is this man really does know where I live from just one glance of personal information that in my opinion was not needed.

This is an update to what was posted on 1/4/2010 under Russell in Okeechobee, FL.

As of 5pm today, Rent-A-Center came again to our door knocking. When I answered, I asked which one he was and he answered Carl. I said if he was the same one calling here with harassing messages and beating on our door for 15 to 20 minutes, tormenting our dogs inside knowing we are not home. And he looked at me and replied, "Ya, I want my TV!"

I looked him directly in the eyes and said, "You need to turn around, get in your van, and get off my property." At this time, he stated that he doesn't have to and he is not leaving my property and he wants our TV! At this time, he as well got on his Nextel and contacted Andy, the store manager. He told him what i said, and Andy relayed to him that he was to stand there on the property and defy my orders to leave!

Even though, I have now called the local sherriff's department, he then stated, "You signed a contract. I can be on your property and don't have to leave and am getting my TV! And I have the papers to prove it." When asked to produce them, he did not have them at all. He then said, "But I will in ten seconds, get back on the Nextel and tell Andy, the manager, to bring the contract with him!"

Then I stated to him that if he doesn't leave, I will forcibly remove him if needed. I told this man 3 times while I had the 911 dispatch listening all 3 times on my phone. But he will not leave. The 911 dispatch told me to go into the home and wait. So I did.

Twenty minutes later, the manager Andy showed up and knocked on my door. And when asked what was going on with my balances he was to be corrected over 3 weeks ago, he denied any knowledge of it. At this time, the sherriff's department showed up and instructed Andy to remove his self from my property and wait in the street.

After my self and my wife spoke to the officer, we requested that they were to be trespassed and we were not giving them the TV, and they can take us to court. He agreed and said it was a civil matter now, so he went outside to speak to them at this point. 15 minutes after, he came back with a book on Florida statutes and explained that Andy the manager came up with some statute stating that he had to file an arrest affidavit against me if we did not release the TV.

This officer did not want to have to arrest me and stated that even though we give back the TV, we still have a right to take court action against them. Against my better judgement, we let the TV go and were now out another eleven hundred dollars! However, both Carl the worker and Andy the manager were trespassed in the end.

Now as far as I understand, this is only legal with an officer's assistance and an R.I.T (right to retrieve), a signed court order by a judge for something like this to be able to take place. Please, someone correct me if I'm wrong!

I have been paying on my TV through them since Nov. of '08 and we have paid around $1,500.00 so far. My husband was unemployed and just got a new job. We have been dealing through a lot of things with his pay so I was trying to explain it to them. However, they refused to hear us so I made two $60.00 payments in the last six weeks. But after I spoke with them and gave them money, they started calling my relatives saying how much I owe. They wanted their money and stated that they haven't talked to me in months--when they talked to me three days prior and received money.

Well, I made a $60.00 payment so that would knock that price down and even if you add the two weeks of $56.09 total, it will still be around $136.00. But now, they got more than what the TV was paid for. They want $212.00 to be caught up and they want it now without any arrangements. This is all about profit for them. They want the item returned so they can resell it. Also, I am getting three to six calls a day from them which is really frustrating.

After losing our home to a fire, we went to our local rent-a-center and rent to own a 42 inch TV, an entertainment center and surround sound package. Every day the payment was due, they would call that morning at 8 am and tell us we owed and wanted to know what time we were going to be there to pay and if it was any later than that day, they were coming to get our property and as well they would call at least three times that same day. And if we weren't home, they would leave a message that either we pay or they were coming to get the property. On top of that as well, they showed up that same day and night beating on our door, not knocking but beating and telling us either we pay them or they will be there to pick up the products we had! This was as early as one hour after they would call in the morning and as late as 10pm at night and even when we would call and tell them we were going to be late by a day or a week. They would tell us that's not good enough!

We have been through them calling our home and then our cell phone back to back every 2 to 3 minutes for as many as 10 to 15 times day after day after day and as well them having different employees call each time from different phones. Back to back leaving messages and when I confront them about it, they have the audacity to say they don't know anything about it! Hmmmm. Let's see when you have only a counter that is 8 feet long and office behind it that is only 8 feet by feet and you' re one foot from each phone and there stupid enough to leave a message as well, but no one knows anything about how stupid do they think we are?

As well our neighbors have told us that when we have not been home, they have pulled into our 60 foot shell driveway at high enough speeds to come to a sliding halt only inches from our cars that are parked there and stand at our door beating on it, knowing we have two dogs inside and tormenting them by waiting for them to settle down, then beating on the door again and again and again. They told us they will sit there and do this for as long as twenty minutes at a time knowing that they are ** these animals off! They have been seen looking into the window on our door and going around and trying to look into other windows at our home.

I have even made complaints to their manager Andy and their receptionist and told them that one of these dogs is a one hundred and ten pound American bull dog and not if but when he comes through the window again or the door and I do mean when! And attack their employee if he doesn't injure them for life because they have tormented them like they have. They will be responsible for all the damages and be considered trespassers. We have gone as far as posting a sign in our window to warn them and they still do it.

We were also given a $500 dollar off credit by a mail coupon and were told it was for when the end of our rent to own was at $500 dollars. It would pay it off. This was told to my wife when she brought it in and the man said he would place it in our file. After we asked what was owed on the package, paying on this package for 1 year and that was the time frame for the rental to own they said we owed over 21.hundred on it still. We returned it to downsize to just a 37 inch LCD TV and were to be credited toward what we had already paid. The credit never happened and after paying now for a year again on a $13 hundred dollar TV, they're saying we owe over $11 hundred more and the $500 dollar discount coupon disappeared and now we're finding out that the TV is not new like we were told. It is used one. I know for a fact that now. That even a new just about the best 37 inch, you can get in no more than $600 dollars.

These people are the worst with regard to customer relations. They charged me $150.00 a week for a virus, used computer, two Magnavox flat screen TVs, a used couch and chair, and a chipped and broken, used bedroom set. I only wanted the rent-to-own for one year, April 2008 to April 2009. The first manager, Dave, told me that after a year, it would be mine. He always used to make sexual advances towards me. Then Daniel came in, he acted as if he had a race complex. I had to move from my place in Alexandria during my illness in late October. I contacted the District Manager Chris. They used to call my house 20 times a day. They called my elderly mom and told her that I was two months behind when I made a payment in late October. I ended up paying them close to $9,000.

When I moved, I took my items with me okay? I know that I've paid for that stuff 3 times over. I reported them to the County of Fairfax Consumer Protection Agency. They responded trying to attack me personally, but never offered to resolve the issue. I reported them to the Federal Trade Commission. I told the Point of Contact at the County of Fairfax that they can come and get their items, but they better leave me some money to replace what I spent. I haven't heard anything from them yet. I was contacted by an attorney in Minnesota to join a class action lawsuit, but then I couldn't qualify because I live in Virginia.

I'm waiting for them to take me to court. They would have taken the stuff that I've paid for, tried to make me continue paying for them and they would have re-rented the items again. If I paid that much money, struggling to pay for it, then I should have it in possession. They told me that I would be finished paying for it in April 2009, then October 2009 and then January 2010. I solved my own problem. I stopped paying for it in October 2009 because I was smart enough to realize that they were ripping me off! I'm tired of these businesses taking advantage of people. Today 12/21/2009, I went to pay on my rental agreement and was tried to be charged with a late fee. Your company gets payment from me on time and with no problems, except lately your store #406 in Greenville, NC had been coming up with all these surcharges. I usually pay on a Thursday or Friday and always noted that I pay a week in advance for usage, so where does a late fee come in as of Monday $15.00.

I took off work to make sure that I got there at the opening of the store. I thought I was a great customer but evidently not. I was caught up in a snow storm in Washington, D.C. over the weekend and informed them of the delay on Saturday, and I know this manager as I thought to be my friend could see that there was an accident or something. Then, I was also informed by another employee of yours that how can he charge you when everything is paid a week in advance. So, I decided not to pay the late fees and now they won't accept payment that's bull.

So they tell me when we can pick up the items. The items I have acquired are new and being well used and will be paid for, but right now we're both in limbo unless an agreement is made. I rented some furniture from Rent-A-Center. I agreed to pay them on a weekly basis. I was one day late with the payment because of reasons beyond my control. I called and let them know why I was late. I have received about 5 or 6 phone calls per day from them while I was at work. They leave threatening messages with my children and telling them that I owe them and if I don't pay them, they were coming to my house. The next day, my sixteen year old son said they came to the house three times in one day and said they were going to call the police to take away the furniture because I owe them. They are harassing children under the age of eighteen. When I got home from work, my children were nervous and upset. My seven year old could not sleep because of what had happened. They caused emotional abuse to my family.

I've never had a bad experience with Rent-A-Center. They've always been accommodating and always helped me when I needed it. But then again, I've always paid my dues on time. They also made it quite clear that you'd be paying more money after the first 90 days because of financing, which is fine because obviously, a person renting from them doesn't have the large sums of money to actually buy whatever they are renting at retail price. I find nothing wrong with that and wish people would stop complaining just because they failed to look over the contract. I'm 23 and made sure that they explained everything to me, and went over ever line to make sure that I understood.

If you are going to get mad about something in the contract, then make sure it's worth getting mad about or that it isn't just simple error on your part. Now the whole scratching floors and what not. Well, can't say that ever happened to me but if they did do it, you can't blame the company. Just the employees, who are individuals.

I just found out the TV I'm renting was previously rented to other customers. How could they charge me $1,399.00 for an already rented television that has been rented by two other people? What's the original price for a brand-new TV? How much was paid from the two previous renters. Is this fair that they can charge for a new TV when in fact the TV has been previously rented by other people? Is there a law against this type of activity?

Since I have been renting with Rent-A-Center since February 2009, I have always incurred late fees. One rep told me in the beginning of my contract that I would have an extra 2 weeks free because I put $200 down and I was paying off 90 days same as cash on a bedroom suite. I began getting phone calls for a payment after two weeks, and I was told that I was late by the time I had gone up to the store. I had not had it for 30 days before they had to send out another set because what was supposed to be brand new. The wood began splitting and I had all kind of nicks in it; the mirror was scarred, as well. The second mirror still had a nick in it but I said forget it. The second headboard looked to be fine, but after months of having it and I was moving the heavy nightstand, I was able to see a nice size chunk out of the headboard.

I was told that it could not be replaced because I could have done it. I did not get to pay the bedroom set off because I went outside of my 90 days and I was told that I owed $800 plus left by one rep and $1,400 by another. Since then I have been owing the same $800 plus, and it has been at the price for at least since the end of August or maybe the beginning of September. I lost my job in September. I have been late every payment and I do not mind making the late fee payment. For one month’s rent it is $170 and because I have been late, they are being very rude to where if you want to call and tell them that you will be late, you cannot because they have some very rude attitudes.

Today I sent $200 which would pay for the late fee, catch me up and give me about 2 weeks. But instead, they refused the payment because they wanted $369.14 or the merchandise would be picked up at 3pm. The person that I sent the payment by left that store and went to the one down the street and the manager at that store was much nicer. He gave me the district manager’s number and the verdict was that, that store takes over my account. I have now 7 more payments of $90 plus, in which I still do not understand. It seems that it has finally gone down from the $800 plus but why did it take so long? Why when the merchandise was damaged on their part but it took forever for them to deliver on both occasions and that was fine for them. Do customers get any kind of breaks? No. I am very dissatisfied with this company and I will never rent from them again. They are too high, very rude, and not consistent.

I have been renting from Rent-A-Center a number of years now and as always, they try their best to accommodate me with anything. I am now renting a washing machine from them. I paid off half of the machine in the first 90 days, which gave me a balance of $395 plus tax to finish paying off the machine in full. I always get a balance on every receipt when I pay them. I went last week to pay my two weeks and as always, I asked them to put the balance on the receipt.

He put the balance on the receipt of $395 plus tax (total of $427.03) but then he told me the 90 days were over and the new balance will be $521 plus tax (which is almost the original price that I got the machine for). That brings the machine back to the original price of when I received it. So if I pay all that money in the first 90 days, it's not right to my balance. I feel that the balance should be $395 plus tax and I should pay from that balance. I didn’t know that they add more money on my balance if not paid in 90 days.

I think this is very unfair and if this is the way they work, I would not recommend anyone to rent or buy from Rent-A-Center again. I know you need to make money, but why do you have to deceive people? I have sent many people to the store to rent and the employees there are very courteous and very helpful. I hope I get some kind of reply to this and if I am wrong, please send me written contract of verification to this situation. As I can find anything to back, this extra adds on money to my balance.

The next day, the PlayStation was not working. I called Rent-A-Center and explained the situation. I was informed that because the PlayStation was no longer Rent-A-Center property, I would have to pay for the repairs. In August of 2009, I fell on hard times but still struggled to make my payments. On August 29, 2009, two representatives came to my home and collected $200 cash from me. I asked for a receipt. I was told that they didn't have one. I told them that I was not giving them $200.00 in cash without a receipt.

Later that evening, the same representative returned to my home with a Rent-A-Center voucher (substituting that for a receipt). The $200.00 covered 5 weeks of payments. Every Saturday since then Rent-A-Center has been coming to my home for payment. I don't have a problem making payments and paying for the late fees, but what bothers me is this. On October 24, 2009, two representatives came to my door and started pounding on my door and window ridiculously loud. This lasted for about 10 minutes. They then began yelling my name, "Ms. **, Ms. **" then they started whistling. After about 15 minutes of sheer embarrassment and harassment, they decided to get in their truck and put the truck in reverse and have it make the beep beep noise for yet a few more minutes.

My son called me at work and told me what happened. I called Rent-A-Center (upset of course because it frightened my child) and explained my concern about the way they "attacked" my door. The represented told me, "Well, you should have answered your phone **" and hung up the phone. Today is now October 31, 2009 and my kids are now being awakened by the sounds of pounding, whistling and yelling my name. I take full responsibility on being late with payments and that is no way to treat a customer, yet alone, a human being. And because of this, I will not be paying on the rest of my account, but yet pursuing a lawyer and suing for harassment, embarrassment and emotional stress. Once this is settled, I will never rent from Rent-A-Center or recommend anyone else to rent from them. Horrible and frightening customer service. I understand that people fall on hard times, but that is no way to treat people.

After days of explaining the situation to them, they declared that it was my responsibility to pay for the TV. It may be true that a signed receipt would be my ticket of proof but the dishonest employee knew how to manipulate the situation so that a person lacking in knowledge of how the process of proof works would be disarmed by the fact that; the TV was scheduled to be picked up that day, and the insistence of the employee that a receipt was not necessary would further assure his success. I'm renting a 60-inch Sony Bravia DLP. The only negative thing I can really say is that when I called to tell them the lamp was going out on this TV, they told me they would have to send the entire TV back to Sony just for a freaking lamp. I know that this was a lie because I actually work for an electronics company that is contracted by Sony and other places to come to the customer's house and replace these things for them.

The lamp doesn’t even require tools to be put in. It takes about maybe 2 minutes to do and even a child could do it too. But other than that, the service has been fine. All the people are very friendly. If you’re late on a payment, they do tend to call you a lot. But that’s understandable considering how many people they probably get, that try to run off with their merchandise.

I think this pretty much just depends on the place that you rent from. My conclusion is that, if you can afford to buy or have good enough credit to go somewhere else, you probably should. But if you’re like most of the people in this country and rent-a-center is your only choice, then shop around. Try different locations. Don’t let a few stupid people keep you from making a purchase. My store has great service and friendly people. So at least you now know it’s out there.

They then called me to give my payment on my items - the washer and the laptop. They posted money on the laptop when I had told them that with these red flags, I do not want the laptop. They said that they were sorry, but they cannot transfer the money to my washer. In the end, $150.00 went to the laptop that Mr. Andrew ** said they had to trash. Now, when I had gone in there to take back the laptop, he had given me a receipt of my washer with a balance of $15.98, due by 11/09/09.

Yes, people, he said that! I am furious and very upset. Then, he told me that if I could not pay today, that they will come get my TV which I only have about $300 left on. Do not ever rent from these people. They are not understanding nor do they have any customer service skills. I will never recommend this place to anyone nor any other Rent-A-Center because they seem to be all the same from what I am reading.

In October of 2008, I rented a computer from Rent-A-Center because I needed it for school. It’s September 2009 and I’m still paying for it. But I’m almost done and have hundred odd dollars left. My payment was due last Friday which was September 18. But I was out-of-town because I’m moving to Memphis and I have to find a house before my lease is up and that’s September 30. I called and told them that I was out-of-town, but they still called and harassed me. I’m back in town now but I can’t make the payment until this Friday and I explained that to them. They were still not trying to hear that. They were still ringing my door bell 10x a day, and calling my phone 30x a day.

I’m paying my bill in full on Friday and that’s not good enough for them. They wanted to still pick my computer up. I’m just writing this complaint to inform other people that no matter how bad you need something, never rent from Rent-A-Center. They harass you more than a landlord does if a tenant pays late on rent, and more than the light and gas companies do. This is real sad and, on top of everything, rude. I think they should be closed down or change their policy. Because everybody in their lifetime gets financial bind and even Rent-A-Center workers do. They should be able to understand that as long as you are not a month or something behind late. But my main concern is I’m almost done paying in full and they still harass me.

Well, I got a laptop from Rent-A-Center back this August of 2009. I knew I was gonna be late on a payment so I went up there and told them on a Thursday. I told them that I would pay in the first of the following month. I asked for my payments to be changed to once a month. I was thinking that since I did ask, they would have taken care of it. The next day, I was getting calls from that Friday up until the 1st of September to pay my bill. When I talked to them on the phone, I told them I was going to be late and they didn't have to continue to call me. After that, they started calling my references threatening them with court papers and to tell me that. So I confronted the girl who called my references, but she told me she didn't call them. The girl wanted to lie. She even said that she could show me phone records of where she didn't call.

Then, I had them come to my mother's home trying to take my laptop after they were supposed to arrange my payments to once a month. They continued to say I was three weeks behind when I paid for the last week of August. So when I went to pay my payment for September, they talked about me owing around $100. I said, "If you had changed my payments to once a month, how am I behind?" To make matters worse, they told me I wasn't due until the 15th of September. I was told lies after lies by the account manager and another employee there about my account. I want to make sure this complaint gets to the home office of Rent-A-Center.

Rent-A-Center calls my home, work, friends and references day and night, advising them to tell me to pay my bill. This would start on the day the bill was due as a reminder call. When I questioned them about this being illegal, they told me it was company policy to call twice a day until they got you to come in and pay. They would also come by our home at random times trying to catch us at home and if we weren't there, they would leave a note on the door. When I showed them in black and white the harassment laws, they said that did not apply to them because they do not report to the credit bureau and started calling even more. Due to the weekly payment plan, this means they call all of the time that they are open! By the time I learned the laws, I only owed a couple of hundred dollars and just paid out the account.

Parts were missing and all dented up. About a week later, they replaced it with a brand new one. About a week ago, we got behind our payments. They came and it still looked new, with no dents or scratches. The next day, we paid for 2 weeks. So they brought it back. They never took it off the truck, when they picked it up. Ray, the one who brought it back was mad because he had no one to help him. He picked it off the truck and he dropped the freezer door off the truck. And he then broke the handle and dented and scratched the door all up. Plus, when he brought the rest of the side by side in the house, he dented it up.

Well for me it all started in July of '08 when I called Rent-A-Center to get a TV, which was only supposed to be for a couple of weeks until the rest of my things make it to my new residence. Everything was fine until I lost my job, which just so happened to be a couple of weeks after I signed the agreement with Rent-A-Center. I was paying for my merchandise weekly and the weekly rental fee was ridiculously high at $20.00, but I paid it faithfully. Until one day I happened to see an advertisement from one of the competitor stores. And I thought to myself I ought to give them a call and see if I can get a quote. I did and needless to say that their quote put Rent-A-Center’s prices to sham by $5.00.

I was livid at that point. I called Rent-A-Center and told them about the competitor’s prices and they agreed to come down to match the competition’s price. At this point they beat the competitor’s price by now only charging $12.99 a week. But that was also when I found out that my 90-day same as cash had expired. The manager at that time was named Jalisa and she said well if you had called in 2 days ago and just paid the $129.00, your TV would've been paid off. So, I started to ask questions like, “what is my balance now”, “was this TV a used television”, “how long was it rented for”, and “what happened with the contract price wise when you go past your 90 same as cash”. And I thought I was going to go into spontaneous combustion when she said what she did. She told me that the cycle basically starts over or into turns into a full out lease/rental.

I didn't quite understand so she explained to me that when it expired, they added on an additional $150.00 to my contract. And this happens every 90 days until your contract is paid. So, I asked her how the heck we, the customers, are ever supposed to pay a contract out if you keep imposing fees unbeknown to the customer. Then she replied, “Well that's where doing your homework comes into play.” I was grateful for seeing that competitor’s ad which taught me to shop for others’ prices and make them honor what they say they'll do which is match or beat the competitor’s prices. Thus far from Rent-A-Center I've gotten mattress sets and paid for them, but it wasn't easy. They hounded me like no one’s business, as if I had taken the mattress sets from their home. And I'm still waiting on my certificate that states that my items are paid for in full.

I still have that TV and now I'm $100.00 from paying it off, and the reason for my writing in now is because I recently discovered something new. That only 50% of my payment has been going toward my TV. I just paid a payment of $12.99 for the week, $6.50 goes to finance fees and the other $6.50 is applied to the principal balance on the TV. Believe me we've had our battles like them calling the local police to try and get back the merchandise, me calling the regional manager to complain and she's been nothing but understanding and pleasant to deal with. It's just a shame that she works for such a horrible company, then again maybe it's not because she could help out other people like me. But the disheartening part to all of this is that when you shop the competitor’s prices, they have to have in stock that exact same make and model of the merchandise that you currently have.

I was trying to find a Magnavox 32” screen TV, and every other rental company that I called just kind of laughed and said “No, ma'am. We don't carry that type of TV because it's such a late model TV that no one is carrying them anymore.” So, do I feel taken advantage of? You dang straight I do and that's my reason for writing because when I tried to comp shop, the current manager was sarcastic in our conversation. He told me well you might as well pay it on off now, it's only $98.00 and I told him you say that like it's $.50. To you it's small change, but to someone like me it might as well be $500.00. I'm just trying to make this last bit of the rental disappear with hopefully finding another company that has a TV just like the one I have. To add insult to injury, they don't report to the 3 credit agencies and a lot of their stuff is crap. But what are you to do when you are credit challenged and in dire need.

I paid entirely too much for a TV model that isn't being made anymore and for I'd paid full price as if it were a brand new one. Rent-A-Center really knows how to rip off desperate people in a bad situation. They should be made to go out of business for their business conduct and the way they treat they customers. They're all sweet to you until you sign your name on that line which you might as well be agreeing to run through fire with gasoline drawers on.

I rented a bedroom set from Rent-A-Center on 7/29/09. I was told that they would deliver the set in two days, but it never came. So I called them and was told that it was a problem with the head board and that it would be delivered on 8-1-09. Two weeks later, I started seeing lots of roaches in my bedroom. I'm a very clean person. Roaches were even in the bed with me. It made me look at the bed set a little closer. When I noticed that the wood of the bed was flooded with roaches, I was very upset that they would even sell anything in that condition to any one. At this time, I only had the set for a month.

I called the store to let them know about the set, and they were very rude to me. I was shocked that they would speak to me in that manner. I asked to speak to the manager to tell him that I didn't want the set after my finding in the bed and to come pick up the set. That was on 9-3-09. That manager Hector was as rude as the first person who picked up the phone. He never asked me if I wanted something else in the store, being that I didn't have the set long. I only had it for 4 weeks, so I decided to go to the store so I could talk to Hector face to face.

He was even ruder in person. I asked him how they were going to credit me for what I already paid. His answer to me was that it's no credit for me because I slept on the bed for 4 weeks. But he didn't ask if I wanted anything else for my credit, just that I'm out of a set and out of my money. I don't think that's the way I should be treated. I would just like to have my money back. I would never buy anything from them again, and I would make sure that none of my friends buy anything either. They need to send their managers back to training starting with customer service, because if there's no customers, there's no business.

Today is Sunday, I went to the apartment and there were the guts of my refrigerator against the wall and on the floor, but no shell. It appeared that it was too wide to get in and they left all but the shell. They told the owner they would call me right away. Well, no call at all. Had they called, I could have done something about it on Saturday. Now it's Sunday and they are closed, and will be closed on Monday also for the holiday.

Don't they need any business? I would say probably not or they would treat their customers better. After almost 9 years of working at the Practising Law Institute in NY in Customer Relations, I had experienced some questionable tactics with this company. I had to call the CS dept and make several complaints which were handled diligently by the regional mgr. Still numerous calls were made to me in the liking of loan sharking telling me that I should be able to contact family members to help pay my bill.

I had the last straw when I had asked my brother, Ricardo **, who resides in Tennessee, to pay my bill. He called and they told him they could not take the payment which he found deplorable by the way he was spoken to. My daughter, Faith **, who works for Chase Bank in Jacksonville, FL has paid my bill numerous times partially, while I pay the remaining. I have been out of work since 5/05/2009. I have paid my account always. I have never been treated so badly or made to feel badly about my not working.

It seems to me that it should not matter as long as my bill is paid! They have no right to explain in detail to my brother the situation as to which he is privy to anyway. He found it very unusual to be spoken to as a third party in this matter. I have suffered severe migraines due to constant harassing phone calls! I have saved several messages because even my closest friends cannot believe how many calls I have gotten. The district manager, Mr **, had to rectify them.

The store manager, Rich, is very nice and compliant with the customers' needs. Evidently he was out on this day! Any questions, feel free to contact my daughter to verify everything I have stated and my brother, Ricardo. After his conversation with Mr. ** and whomever answered the phone, he is dying to speak with someone especially since Magic Johnson is a valued contributor with this business. I owe $25 on my dinette, $300 couch and $600 bedroom set. I love my furniture and I want a resolution. Why is it that I cannot get a printed balance on what I owe? Why is it necessary in this economy to treat people like criminals? Why do I have to be afraid to answer my phone?

I rented a dining-room table from RAC and I had the 90-day same as cash contract. However, my bill is due on the 28th of every month. RAC calls me every month on this date to remind me to pay my bill. I was never late on my bill and each time I paid my bill, I gave them 3 times over the amount so that I can get my bill paid up. On the 28th of August 2009, I received the call. Like always, I was at work during the time, but as soon as I checked my voicemail I returned the call and spoke with Darnell. I explained to Darnell that I had to do over-time at work and would it be alright if I came in the following day to pay my bill or could I send my brother up to pay it because I would not be off work before they closed. Darnell told me that it was fine and that I can come and pay it the following day, which was a Saturday. Darnell asked me what time would I be there to pay. I asked what time did they close and he said they closed at 6:00. I then said I will be there after 3 but before 6. He stated, “Ok, now, that’s what’s up?” which was so very unprofessional. 2 hours later I checked my voicemail and RAC left 2 more messages telling me that I needed to come pay my bill.

I thought this was strange because I had just made arrangements with Darnell to pay it the following day. I called RAC back and I spoke with Henry. I explained to Henry that I had just made arrangements with Darnell to pay my bill tomorrow. Henry stated ok. I then told Henry if it was a problem, then I can meet them at a McDonald’s next to my job to give them the payment. Henry stated no and that’s okay, he will make a note of it that I will be in tomorrow. However, when I arrived to work the following day, my co-worker stated that I needed to give RAC a call because they had been calling there for me all morning. I stepped into the office and called RAC back and asked them why are they constantly calling my place of work when I told them that I would be there to pay my bill after 3:00 when I got off work.

He stated that he did not know anything about that and that I needed to come to pay my bill. I asked to speak to the manager and he stated that he was the manager. I explained the situation to him and he stated that it was fine and he will see me before 6:00 today. When I got off work, I went straight there to pay my balance off. I asked for the manager and I told him that I thought it was very unfair and harassing how they kept calling my home and my place of work when arrangements had already been made for me to pay my bill today. He stated, “Well, I don’t know who could have told you that because we don’t make arrangements for weekend payments.” I stated I spoke with Darnell and then I spoke with Henry. He stated Darnell and Henry is the same person. I then told him that’s who agreed to the arrangements. He stated he could not have told me that because he can’t make those decisions. I told him I had no reason to lie on his employee and if he checks my records, he will see that I am never late and that I always pay way over the amount that is owed. He then stated he can’t see him telling me that. I then said okay and asked what my remaining balance is.

He stated $949.53. I asked him how this came to be when the last time I paid my remaining balance was $600 something. This "manager" told me, “Well, your bill was due on the 28th and today is the 29th and you are late; therefore, you are not under the 90-day same as cash contract anymore.” I explained to the "manager" once again how they agreed on me coming to pay today and if this was the issue, then they should have told me that when I spoke with them several times the day before and I would have had my brother or someone to bring the money to you all. And I then told him that I felt that he was being unfair to me as a customer. He then said, “Well, you should have paid your bill on time and you wouldn't have had this problem.” I felt that this was totally disrespectful and unprofessional. After I pay RAC the $949.53 that he says that I owe them since he told me I was no longer on the 90-day same as cash because of a day late payment in which they agreed to, the total amount I paid for this $1,000 table set will be $1,949.00, which is so unfair to me as a customer. Not only did they harass me at home and at work, but I feel that they agreed to this 1-day late payment because they knew that this would take me out of the 90-day same as cash contract in which I originally agreed to.

First of all, if you just paid your bill on time, then collection calls would never have to be made. Second, remember the agreement you signed that revealed the cash price and total cost? Well, then why do you always feel you have paid too much for an item when RAC is picking it up for nonpayment? RAC always reveals the amount of money you could pay, but just because you pay $1,000 extra in late fees, you feel you have paid too much. Newsflash: If you can't afford it, stop acting like the victim and just return it to the store. There is never an issue when you are on time, but the minute that it becomes a collection issue, there is a million problem with the merchandise and that is the reason you can't pay, really? I was trying to tell him that if I didn't pay, it is still in my account and that I was logging into the internet. And I was telling him that I was not lying to him. I didn't have a reason to. Yet, he didn't want to listen to me; he just kept on yelling at me on the phone in my job and also said to me "Don't waste my time with your lies." I told him I will be at the store as soon as it is open to talk to him.

I purchased a washer machine on August 03, 2009. Upon delivery, I asked Mario once he finished hooking the washer up could he run the washer to make sure water don’t leak, because prior to the last visit, water leaked on my floor. Mario told me Tiffany that he didn’t have time to run the washer and that wasn’t his job to run it through to make sure it worked properly. Now, my hallway is flooded and soaked and when I called back to inform him what happened, he got an attitude so I don’t know what else to say or do. My carpet is damaged and wet, and also my baby has asthma. Wet water causes mildew and that triggers off asthma.

My husband passed away 9 months ago, I am on survivor benefits. I am trying to pay them but it’s very hard. On August 5th, 2009, 2 men came to my front door and one of them threatened me. He told me if I did not pay, he was going to break me like a broken window. I had a broken window on my home, the police were called. I also had to change my home phone number. These people are like a gang, they scared us terribly. The police officer called them and told them not to come back to my home. Right after the police man left, the man from Rent-A-Center called me and started threatening me again. I had to change my phone number due to this. I traced every call. Thank you.
