I’m writing to say I’m very disappointed in Rent-A-Center. Approximately 2 years ago, I purchased a computer about $1000 or a little over $1000. I brought it home and it was not even in a box and there were no instructions, no nothing! I used it approximately 4 months when the sound quit working. So, I called and waited at least a month before anyone contacted me. Finally, I took it in and they said it was fixed. Well, it was not. After about a month I called again and again. After numerous attempts, I finally said forget it! My temper was flared and then all of a sudden the modem started beeping and nothing would come on the screen! Till this day it sits in my room not working! I am very mad because I paid it in full as fast as I could and I got junk! I work hard for what I have and saved up money for this for a long time. I feel I got ripped off! I will never go back to that store again. I am now trying to save money to buy a laptop, and believe me I will be extra careful this time! And it will not be with Rent-A-Center! They act like they don’t care.

There was a certified letter sent to my job without my signature and when they come to the house, the account rep never knocks on the door. They go straight to the wash room trying to open the door. And when they can, they will leave a door hanger on the door. I've been receiving text messages from the account reps and repeated calls from a cell phone and not a business phone, unless Paul is calling me. They were very rude when I made my last payment to them. The certified letter was sent to the business that I work for and let the people in HR and others here know my business. That was personal at all. They want me to pay them.

I know what to do when it comes to making payment and having a friendly response when I used to work for the company for a total of 4 and 1/2 years. It's not fair for anyone to be treated this way, and threats are not cool. When you want someone to pay and be on time with the payment, then you will get better resource from that customer and they will continue to do business with your company.

I bought a TV there about 1-2 years ago. I paid over $4,000.00. It had a problem with it - as a matter of fact, the same problem for three times - and they fixed it those times. Just this past week, the same thing happened to it. Because I never got the extra coverage on it, I was advised that it is going to cost $700.00 to have it fixed. And the reason I never got the extra coverage was because this TV was brand new.

My husband and I had been renting a front loader washer. The washer started giving error codes, E10 and dd0. It would stop during a cycle and give one of those codes. Also, during the spin cycle, the water would not be completely extracted from the washer. So, we would have to wring the excess water out of the clothes, and it would take twice as long to dry. Rent-A-Center has picked it up several times and brought it back saying that it was fixed and it never was. This last time, I got their Corporate office involved. I was told by the district manager here in MI that it would not be returned to me unless it was fixed properly, or they would have to replace our washer with a new one. Well, our washer still doesn't work, and we had to pay for it for the last 2 years. I don't know what else to do. We are now without a washer, and the promises that were made to us were not kept.

I rented a Wii game system for a while and had to return it due to health reasons. I am now in a position to resume getting the system and now the price for the system is at 1/3 the amount they originally charged me. The payments have gone down at 40% and they told me that I may resume paying and they will credit me for 10 weeks of payments.

At 10 weeks, the amount that I paid is $352.50 which is more money than their cost of the unit. Yet, they said I need to make 31 weeks of payments at $20.00 a week to own this system. I was under the amount of time for the 90 days as same as cash when I returned the merchandise, so why am I now required to pay more for the unit than what the price is? And what happened to the $352.50 that I already paid? If I pay the additional amount of $620, that will mean that I paid $972.50 for this system which is over the amount asked. I would like to know what if anything can be done about this injustice or do I just chock it up to money lost and try win again.

I was listed as a reference on some account. I don’t have an account with them or any other company. This has resulted to harassment. I told them when they called the first time I am not that person and don’t call me anymore. I have nothing to do with them listing me as a reference. They continue to call and harass on a weekly basis, sometimes calling back to back and day after day, having different people call. After I tell one to stop calling, another one calls right back from a different number. They called at home and at the office and I was told that I couldn’t do anything.

I see that many people are having trouble with their local RAC but not all of them are bad. I like the RAC I deal with. The people are friendly and understand that things happen and they do their best to fix any problem. There are some people who shouldn't work in customer service and do anyway. They make the company look bad. I have bought several things from RAC and have never once had a problem getting something fixed or replaced.

People get mad for the business calling their references. Well, if you paid on time or kept an open line of communication, then that wouldn't happen. I have been late a few times but I always call and tell them when I will be in to pay. All they are trying to to is run a business. It's the same with a car. You don't pay and the repo man comes. Just because it's furniture doesn't mean you can pay when you want. A contract was signed and you agreed to the terms, so it's not fair to bad mouth them because they are doing their job and upholding you to a contract you signed.

Besides the calls, consistently, I've received letter from alleged lawyers' offices, door hanger on my front door advising me that if I do not call by the specified date, that I will be arrested for theft of stolen property. These notices have been given to my 6- and 15-year old children. They have harassed my references on a daily basis even after they were told not to call anymore.

Last December, I purchased a display model Wii video game. I have consistently paid monthly until this month. At this time, I have paid approximately $920.00. I was called continuously - which I talked with them about not being able to get phone calls at the hospital when I am dealing with patients. Since I didn't answer her phone call, she left a nasty message, aggressively threatening to turn me over to the police for stolen property.

Now, mind you, I was 3 days late and I pay consistently every payday. When I called her back, she told me that, "Corporate was buckling down on her and she needed the money today." I told her it would be paid off on payday, and that she wasn't very customer friendly. She then stated that she would try to hold the corporate off for 24 hours.

I thought this was comical, considering that I have purchased and paid off a couch, tables, chairs, lamps, refrigerator, washer, dryer and dishwasher. Then, she laughed. I will never use RAC again as long as she is employed. I have even told everyone in my employment and every corporate account that we will not be using RAC. She was extremely rude, aggressively coercive, and threatening. She needs customer service skills, severely. Drug screening would be nice also for her. Her pathology of behavior was typically negative and extremely aggressive. You will lose customers under her supervision.

In February of 2009, I rented a laptop computer from Rent-A-Center in Brockton, MA. When I contracted with them, they gave me a computer that worked for a few weeks and then started to overheat and shut down. I took the computer back, got a loaner and ended up keeping the loaner after I had reloaded all of my business applications on it. I am on unemployment and attempting to establish myself as a real estate agent so my computer is paramount to my success. In early June, I had a financial issue. When I required an unemployment extension, my payments lapsed for a week. I called Rent-A-Center immediately when I knew this and tried to make a payment arrangement. It was granted. I paid two weeks as soon as my unemployment was reinstated.

The week after, I had a family emergency and my payment would have been four days late. I called to pay it and was told I couldn't pay just one week due to the upcoming holiday (July 4th). I was told that I couldn't make any payment under two weeks. I called the district manager and left a message. I did not receive a call back until Tuesday of the next week. The manager told me to make a two-week payment and he would work with my account to get it up to date. When I called the store to do so, they refused the payment again, saying the district manager never told them I could do that. Now, I was up to three weeks, according to the store, that I had to pay. During all of this, the store left numerous phone messages not only for myself but my family and friends that I used only for references to open my account. They were not honest during these calls either, saying that I hadn't contacted them in over two weeks, that I was unreliable, that I was stealing the merchandise! I was completely embarrassed by this and humiliated. Not only am I hurting during these economic times financially but I am a survivor of domestic violence and have ongoing cases in court against my abuser.

Just last week, Rent-A-Center started coming to my home, terrorizing my son who was home with a friend while I was out. They were banging on the door very aggressively and yelling in windows as well as trying to open doors that thankfully were locked! This behavior is abhorrent and criminal! Now, the last conversation I have had with the company they stated that I was being taken to court and they were going to file criminal charges against me! This was after I stated that I wanted someone else to bring in the merchandise. I don't feel safe going into the store. They are bullies and from what I have heard from other people, their system is as after a certain amount of payments have been made, they aggressively look for ways to repossess the merchandise in order to have the ability to re-rent it to another customer. This lowers their inventory costs and they can make thousands on one product by continually recycling it and re-renting it! Horrid!

In April 2009, I agreed to rent a camcorder from them and I was told if I paid a week, I would get a week free which never happened. I got a duplicate of the receipt where I paid a week. Then I made a payment on June 4 according to my checking statement, June 2 according to RAC. I asked the person on the phone when my next payment was due and she said June 16. I did not get everything I was supposed to with the camcorder including instructions. Now, the manager is telling me I am 38 days behind and they want the camcorder back.

The payment in June took me to June 16. Now, the manager is trying to say it took me to June 6; however, with the original date of June 16 they gave me, I should have gotten my free week which would take it to June 23. Then I referred 2 people which would give me 2 free weeks and take me to July 7. They have been rude, calling my 73-year old mother a little after 8 a.m. even though she told them she recently had a heart attack and does not want them calling. They continue to do so.

I was out of town due to health issues myself and they tried to force their way in from the person taking care of my pets and all. They make you list 2 family members on the application and claim that gives them the right to harass that person as well. I am on social security and have always been good about making my payments to RAC in the past 3 years I have spent over $2,000 there and have overlooked them shorting me before. I tried to send an email to the home office only to find out after you press enter that it goes to the store you are complaining about. So what good is that?

First issue with them is family members, whom I rarely see, went to them to get furniture. We weren't even a reference and the family member owed money, so they were calling me. After I told them not to call me and that it's not my issue, a few days later, I'm in there paying my bill. I had my mother with me. I turned my back for a minute, and the worker there was harassing my mom about the bill of family members whom she is nowhere related to. So that really upset me.

Then I went into labor, so I got a call because I'm a day late on my $26.00 bill, which I may add I have paid over a grand to these people. And I always pay, so I tole them I'm in labor and that I'll call them back. The worker started laughing and asked if I'm gonna call in a couple of hours. I of course said no and when I'm out of the hospital. "Hello, I'm having a baby."

So still in the hospital, I got 16 calls from them. Then they called my mom once again who is just my reference, wanting her to pay the bill and telling her how much is owed. It's $26.00 and I'm not even a week late, but they can't take that for an answer. They just plain harass and bully people over money. How would they feel if landlords and other companies were harassing their family over $26.00 when they're in the hospital? It's plain ignorant. Come on now, who worries about paying a Rent-A-Center bill on time when they're in labor?

I am past due on my account. I have been informing **, manager at the Whittier store, and he was to get authorization from his boss if he can start receiving weekly payments of $47.00. On June 19th, I called to pay the weekly $47 but he refused and asked me to pay in full. I am getting garnishment on my check for $164.00 biweekly and $328.00 monthly. I can only start paying weekly until it is paid in full and my next payment would be June 27th--another $47 if he agreed, and weekly thereafter.

I called and spoke with ** on 6/19 at 11:20 am and called back the same day at 4:00 pm. I spoke with ** and he said that he didn't see a note in the system that I called. I called today, June 23rd, to make a payment and ** said, "We are refusing your payments." I am aware that I am past due but how can I get back on track to pay my balance ($400 and some change) if they won't accept what I can make. I apologized for my circumstances but I want to pay this in full so I can clear the account and never do business with them again.

I have been with Rent-A-Center stores for four or so years. I was a good paying customer, but as explained, these economic times have put everyone at a stand still with catching up on what they owe. I give no excuses, just that I want to make due now so I don't have my product taken away. I started with my contract amount of $1,100.00 or so on my computer and just paid off my big screen TV.

I reported this to the Better Business Bureau. This is my second complaint and I don't feel I am getting any help in order for me to pay now. I will apologize again for being past due but if I keep leaving messages and calling now to pay, of course, it will just add to my delinquent amount of days. Please help me straighten this out.

I have been a customer of Rent-A-Center since March of 2009. In April, I had gone into the store to change the phone number on my account. After I had done that and made my payment and left the store, I received a text message on my phone. I asked my friend I was with if she knew the number. She does not know who it was, I replied by asking who it was. It was the manager at the Rent-A-Center that I rent my furniture from. In the end, I replied to the original message that he had sent me. After awhile, I got tired of asking who it was that was sending me text messages and just saved the number to my phone under Rent-A-Center.

Now we’re in June, his wife found out about it and now, I have been receiving harassing phone calls, text messages, and restricted calls. One comment that was made was "We know all about you". I notified the police about it and in turn they called and told the manager, his wife and her friend that they needed to stop all contact with me or charges will be filed. I thought the matter had dropped. The next day, it started all over again to the point that I received a phone call in the middle of the night, from a man that was drunk, looking for a ride home. He had gotten my phone number from Rent-A-Centers manager’s wife’s friend. They had no right to do that. I fear that since he was able to get my phone number off of my account, he also has access to the rest of my personal information such as my bank account number, debit card number, my social security number, home address, and my driver’s license number.

After the comment "We know all about you", I fear for my identity. I called the store and was looking for the district manager’s number and it was refused. So, I told them that they needed to take my phone number off of my account and they in turn, demanded that I set up a date to return the furniture. When I asked them if they would give me my money back, they came up with a resolution as to transfer my account to a different store. The young man that I had spoke with, told me that it was my fault that all this was happening, and I shouldn’t have ever sent the manager a text message in the first place.

Also, I receive phone calls several times a day before my payment is even due, to remind me that I need to pay them and are wanting a time and date when I will be in to pay.

I fear for my identity as well as my life. Especially, since I do not know what the females that threatened me look like. What will happen if I get jumped while going in to make a payment? Here in the state which I reside, any domestic confrontation like that and everyone is arrested. I get arrested, I will lose my job!

I called the Rent-A-Center located near my home. I was in need of a clothes dryer, but only wanted a "new" one, as I knew I would purchase it within the 90 days. Carlos, the sales representative, guaranteed that they had only new appliances and I should go and pick out what I wanted. I chose a dryer, gave a down payment, and it was delivered in two days. Not only was this item used, but it was scratched, and still had lint in the trap from the previous user.

I knew instantly that I was dealing with a bunch of creeps. So I went to the store with the dryer (I paid to have it delivered). Unfortunately, it seems that creating a scene, with the evidence in tow, gets people like Carlos to admit he was wrong. I was screaming at him, told him to take the dryer back, and cancel my contract. Once I informed him that I was going to call the police and have the store closed and every worker arrested for fraud, he became extremely agreeable.

There are too many complaints against Rent-A-Center. The only way to make them pay attention to your problems is to stop paying them altogether. Keep the crappy item they sent you, but do not pay them one dime. Naturally, first you must give them a chance to right their wrong. However, as soon as you feel they are ignoring you, simply give up just like they did. It is unfortunate that their parent company does not care. I honestly think it’s time we take a stand against these damn companies who screw their customers and do not care about their actions. My incident with the clothes dryer made me so upset, that my anxiety went through the roof and I had to be hospitalized to calm myself down and get my heart back in rhythm. In August of 2008, I went into their store and chose out a living room set and fridge. I was told the prices on both items and agreed when I thought I was almost closed to my 90-day same as cash. I called to check my balance. The amount that they had given me originally changed drastically. I immediately asked to speak with management. They told me there was nothing they could do because I had opted for new furniture. About three weeks after that, my couch broke. I called again. I told them if the furniture was new why it had broken so quickly. They said they would fix it and drop the price. About three weeks after that, they had someone come to my house and fix the couch.

Maybe two months after that, the couch had broken again from the same place. I was really upset and told them to please pick up the couches and I would not pay anymore until they were fixed and in new condition since that is what I was paying for. They picked up the couches and for almost 28 days I did not hear from them and I called every week to know the status and kept getting the runaround. Finally, they told me I would have to come in and make a payment before they would re-deliver. I made that payment on Wednesday and then had another payment due 2 or 3 days after that. They charged me for when the couches were not in my possession.

Here we are again, same problem. They called and harassed for payment but don't hold up their end of the contract. I have no resolution until now. The couches are in my possession waiting to be picked up for three weeks now and they are still asking for payment. This is ridiculous and emotionally distressing. And the story goes on and on. I have pictures of the damaged items they want me to pay for.

I keep receiving harassing calls about my account even when payments are made. I've explained to them that my paydays are on Tuesdays as well as receiving disability benefits for proudly serving my country for 11 years in the Navy. My account came due again today, 5-30-09. I've explained to the account rep that when the first of the month comes, I will make a 3-week payment. For as long as I have had this computer, they have constantly harassed me about it. I took it back for service and still got it back with the same hard drive because it had the same problem as before. I know a lot about computers.

They have threatened to come and take my computer. It's necessary and essential that I have this computer. It's more than half paid off and is the only way I can look for work. Being a disabled vet (not totally) is not easy. It's the only way I can get anything done, my only source of contact with people and they're telling me they are going to take that away because they can't wait till the first of June. I'm a combat-trained solider and the likelihood of someone coming into my residence to remove anything after I've explained to Rent-A-Center that payment will be made on the first would not be a good idea at this point and time in my life.

When I purchased the Ashley glass dinette set, it was under the agreement that I would pay it off in ninety days - same as cash. RAC was aware that I only get paid once a month because I am a teacher for Wake County. Upon arriving on May 29th to make my last payment, I was told by the manager that I was eleven days late and another $498.59 was immediately added to my purchase. I begged for a reprieve since I had no money until the end of each month. I asked her why didn't I get a courtesy call since my other payments were on time, and she said, "We do not do things like that and that it was my responsibility." I feel the consequences do not fit the action. It was only eleven days late and I had the full amount due each month. I had the full amount due for the ninety days. This is so unfair to tag on another approximately $500 considering my circumstances and since I begged for a reprieve.

This company calls me at least three times a day. My boyfriend and I made the mistake of renting to own furniture from them in December 2008 and never missed a payment (which was $434.00 monthly) until last month when I became very ill. We called, and my boyfriend visited them in person to let them know of our circumstances, and the calls continued. We always paid on time. They soon came and repossessed the furniture and call at least five times a day now and text message my cell phone, demanding payment. We explained our situation to each person that calls, and then we get another call within the hour from someone else. We are extremely upset about this constant telephone harassment. I am very ill and have been put on disability and will be having surgery soon, and these people continue to call several times a day. They obviously do not communicate with each other, and the management of this company is terrible. Each person we talk to gives us a whole different number of what we owe them. Please do not buy from them ever.

I have rented 3 items from this company, a queen size bed, a computer stand and a flat screen TV. The computer stand I rented (which was rented a month ago) dropped off the bottom part which holds the keyboard; it was stuck and would not pull out. The next day when I put my computer up and tried to pull it out, it would not come out. I called Rent A Center to come to fix it and they continued to to tell me someone would come out to fix it. They made several appointments with me to have someone to come out and no one showed up. They continued to say that they were short-handed.

So they continued not to charge me for about three weeks. I called Customer Service to complain and finally someone came out to take the part out around the 1st of the month. And said they had to order the part. To this day, I have not received the part. On Saturday, May 16th, I paid the bed up-to-date and walked into the store and told them that I don't have money to pay for the things any longer and that I wanted to have the items picked up. Since that date I have continuously called them to pick up the items and to this date they have not.

On 5/20/09, I received a letter from them stating that within 3 days, they need to hear from me or they will seek legal action. I immediately called, went into the store and told of this and told them I received this letter and they told me to disregard the letter, that they would pick up the items and to disregard the letter. I then asked the employee to give me something in writing stating that and the employee said that he didn't have anything to give me and that they would pick up the items on Thursday.

Upon leaving the store, they have a customer service no. posted on the wall to call. I called 1800-422-8186 at 5:55 to tell the Customer Service my problem. The lady told me that I would receive a phone call from the district manager within 24 hours to have it resolved. Well, he never called. On Thursday, Eric from Rent A Center called me in the afternoon to tell me that they wanted to know when they could pick up the items. I told them I would be home at 6:00 pm from work. He then told me someone would be at my home to pick up the items. At 6:20 I called them to see when they would be here. He told me that they were in La Habra and that as soon as they came back, they would be there. I then told him I needed them to get here because I needed to go to urgent care. He said he would call me after he got hold of the drivers. He never did.

And I forgot to mention that I live 1 minute walking distance from this company. There is no excuse for the stress that they have caused me and time wasted to wait for this company when no one shows up. I think this company is shady and they will try to take me to court so I have to pay the entire high price of these items I no longer want. Please help.

I am filing a complaint with the Rent-A-Center in Redding, California. I had a contract with them for a laptop computer, with payments of about $88.70 due on the 7th and the 22nd of each month. Even though my payments were always on time and sometimes paid before the due date, I consistently received calls, sometimes up to three or four calls per day, at home, at work and on my cell phone that my account was past due (a direct violation of the Fair Debt Collection Act, I believe). According to the specifications of my contract, my payments were never past due.

At times when I went into the store, the clerks claimed I was supposed to pay every two weeks, even though my contract was not set up that way and I was once asked to pay over $100 on my account, the clerk claiming that I owed for "extra days." I made my payment in April on the 21st (a day before it was due). In late April, I was hit with a car license renewal fee that was double what I was expecting it to be, so I called Rent-A-Center ahead of when my first May payment was due and spoke to Sandi to let her know of my circumstances. I asked her if it would be possible to get an extension on my first May payment and then pay the entire May bill (a little under $180) on the 22nd when I was next paid. Sandi said that she would have to ask permission to do that as it was something they didn't normally do. The next day, I got a call from Rent-A-Center saying my extension had been granted which I thought was marvelous.

But even though I was told the extension I had asked for was granted, I immediately started receiving telephone call after telephone call on my answering machine, my cell phone and work phone claiming I was past due. In one call that was made after 6:30 pm, a man named Lee demanded that I come into the store that night to make a payment. And on another occasion, another male employee stated that if I didn't pay up immediately, they were going to confiscate the laptop.

After days of this kind of harassment and threats, I called Rent-A-Center back and demanded an explanation. Instead, I got a runaround from Lee who then became frustrated after trying to convince me that a week had 5 days in it instead of 7 and turned me over to Sandi, who simply made more excuses for their screwed up billing system, refused to apologize for the harassing calls, stated that their company never gave extensions (but later let slip that the "district office" often did allow extensions), and again demanded payment immediately. Infuriated I told her I was going to file formal complaints against the company, and hung up the phone.

I have no doubt that if this company which is regularly changing the due dates on my contract (despite the fact that my contract states clearly that my payments are due on the 7th and the 22nd) is consistently harassing me with collection calls on an account which was never past due, and seemingly also refuses to acknowledge or honor their agreements is doing exactly the same thing to their other customers that they're doing to me. I believe a thorough investigation of this store's policies and procedures is necessary in order to safeguard consumers.

Where to start? Okay, I rented a dryer from their Steger store. About six months ago, I lost my job and was still making my payments but sometimes late. They call my house at least 10 times a day even if it's not late, or they show up at my house. Then one day, my husband told them, "That's it. Don't come here again. Just call us and let us know and we'll bring in the payment but don't come back here." Well, they came back. My husband told them if they come back, he will have them arrested.

So now, it's May 8th and Marcus calls. He said that there is a payment due. I said, "Okay. I'll be in." He then told me, "If you have $42, you can pay it off!" I told him I'll try but was not sure. I then went to pay my payment. I had $20 of the $42 Marcus said I owed. When I got there, the manager Amy told me $20 was not enough and she was not taking that. She told me I owed $27 in late fees and I needed $52 today or the dryer. I told her that I just talked to Marcus and he told me it was only $42 to pay it off. She then told me that it wasn't about the money, but she was worried about her guys because my husband was harassing them while at work. (My husband is a cop.) She tried telling me he was pulling them over for no reason and making racial comments to them.

Now, there's no way they could know he's a cop as I don't carry his last name and the contract is in my name. But because he told them not to come over or he would arrest them, they're now trying to say all of this and the manager said the mayor of the town he works in is her personal friend and is going to have him fired. Now I'm not sure what to do. I got one telling me it's only $42 to pay it off, then someone else telling me it's more and she's going after my husband's job. Can someone please tell me what to do now?!

Two weeks later, they called again on Saturday asking for payment and I tried to explain that I had changed my payment dates to Tuesdays. Once again, he told me that I would have to pay extra three days to do that. I explained I made the arrangement two weeks previous to have the 3 days added on to the end of the agreement. STUPID ME.... yeah... After shopping around online for a box spring and mattress, I found I could buy a brand new one from rent-a-center fairly cheap and on a 90 day same as cash... so why not? I paid the first payment, then the second one by mail (got a call from them the day it was due to ask me when I was coming in) even though I had already mailed it two days earlier. So I paid the third and final payment in person, dropping off a check... So ok, I have my new bed, it's paid for right? Wrong!!! Two weeks go by and I get a call from who else, Rent-A-Center... and I'm told they don't take checks. You see, they still never deposited my check. Well, it pissed me off, especially calling me at work, when, I had specifically told them never to call me at work when I signed the paperwork. It's against' the law after you inform them of that. So yeah, I procrastinated and thought about if I should even go in to take them cash. But then, oh yeah, the calls started, once a day, twice... at home and at work as well. The more they called the more I began standing on principal and determined not to give in. After all, they had my check, I paid them!! And I had paid them 5 days before it was due... so it wasn't my problem they now didn't want to accept a check. Right? If they would have deposited it or presented it for payment at my bank... that would have been different, but they never did. Now, three weeks go by from March 1st to March 27th, and hey, several phone calls to work, me calling them and now yelling at them not to call me at work, and guess what, in walk not one but two of their salespeople, check in hand, Demanding, I Cash IT right there and then. Yeah, I am suppose to hand them cash... Yeah Right!!! They toss the check at me... I Escort them outside and inform them it is against the law to Harrass a person at their place of work to collect a debt, and that I have already called my attorney... So they now leave... threatening to talk to their own attorney. Now, mind you, I have paid two of three payments, on time and early, and paid the third payment 5 days early, but they won't accept my check and didn't notify me of that until two weeks after giving it to them. Now they leave and yeah, leave me with the check, dated all the way back March 1st, never having been presented to my bank at all!!! So what to do? I'm going to get a cashiers check, state on it that it is the replacement check for a Refused Check and send it by registered mail to Rent-A-Center along with Filing a Complaint with the Better Business Bureau and well, yeah, writing out the story online for all to see. By the way... all of this concerns a simple small check in the amount of $116.80. Go figure. But it is the principle of the matter... Isn't it? Somebody should tell Rent-A-Center that maybe why they are having problems is that they don't understand that some people have two and three jobs and can't just drop everything to make a second trip from Morton to Peoria being about 15 miles just to hand them cash back instead of them simply Depositing the check in the first place! You know... crap happens in life, and sometimes, checks are bad.. I get that, but when a business doesn't even bother to make a deposit ...... why stay in business.. , because I gave them a good check and I never had given them a bad one. Or is this business simply only taking in cash and may not even have a bank account so they can dodge Taxes? Interesting question isn't it... Oh by the way, that NEW Box Spring and Mattress I bought from them... No way it was new! So yeah... Stupid ME... So does anyone want any of these Bed Bugs?

When we called they told us they would give a loaner and pick up the tv. When they removed the tv they allowed it to bounce down a flight of 13 stairs causing chips in the tv base and gouges and chips to be left in the staircase. When we spoke to the store (quite angrily) we were told be Chauncey that he is not responsible for his guys. However he would be sure the chips in the tv would be fixed. The tube was fixed by next week and was sitting in their backroom when we stopped in to pay for the loaner. After reviewing the tv we see that it is now further chipped with the pieces actually laying next to the tv. I refused to accept the tv and they said they would fix the chips. 3 weeks later the tv is done. I look at the tv still see a small chip at the bottom but due to my frustration of waiting I accept it. I speak personally to the delivery guy (I don't remember his name but he had been with the company approx 1 week) and specifically told him that the tv had to be carried up the stairs. They arrive with the tv and try to lift it up, decide they can't lift it so they put it on it's side on a dolly and proceed to pull it up the stairs (I was not there at the time of delivery) and end up leaving a gouge in the wall, a huge hole in the other side of the wall, along with more gouges in the steps. The delivery person was very apologetic and even took pictures (we have our own) and said that the manager Chauncey would call us - it's been 4 days and we haven't heard a word. On top of that, yesterday the TV again has messed up. Thorough this whole ordeal the service received from the store and district manager has been far from helpful. When I asked for compensation since it took 3 weeks extra due to their damaging the tv, Chauncey first said it wasn't his fault and then recanted saying well I guess the guys did it. I mentioned that we were first told we would get a loaner and then after they delivered it they said there would be a $31 weekly charge. Chauncey said he was mistaken and should never have said that - again no apology. He claims he speaks to his DM but we have not received any courtesy call from that person either. I'm furious at this point and don't trust them to touch the tv. Due to their mis-handling the tv again does not work.

I have been renting items for my home and business from Rent-A-Center for approximately 15 years back when it was called Renter's Choice with purchases totaling approximatelty $85,000.00 - $90,000.00. Between Oct. and Dec. 2007, I leased some computers for my training program. I asked the manager if I could lease about a dozen computers at one time to give to my students when they completed the training. He informed me that he had to get special permission because they don't generally lease that many items at one time. Within a few hours he called and said because I was a valued customer, they could do this for me. After paying more than $600.00 PER WEEK on the accounts for more than a year ($31,000.00) my company ran into financial difficulty and I had to ask for more time on some of the weekly agreements. As long as I was only a few days late, the store manager was accommodating, but once my account starting going into two weeks past due, the threats started coming from his regional manager, i.e., "Tell her that we will have to go to the police department and file a warrant against her for theft of the property." My response was: "I cannot believe you would do that after I have paid over $30,000.00 (faithfully) on these agreements most of which I put on credit cards and some in cash plus all the other agreements that I have carried over the years without incident." He told me that "they" (the company) did not care about that. He apologized, but the non-stop calling continued until a payment was made. I live in a gated community so they would come up to the guard gate and announce to the guard that they came to pick up a payment. I guess they were trying to harass or embar-rass me, because they knew the computers were not at my home. One day a person who referred to himself as my new account representative (Gary)came up to my office and insisted on removing computers from my office even though these particular computers had long been paid-off. I told him that they were computers that contained all of our financial records and office information. I informed him that they were paid in full and he did not care. He stated that since I did not have the other computers that had been given to my students, he had to take "something" back to the store. I had to give them $1600.00 cash in order to retrieve the (2) computers he took from my office. My husband also had a computer in his name. When he called to inquire about the payoff amount of THAT computer, he was told that they could not accept a payment from him on "HIS" account because of the delinquent state of "MY" account. They said he had to pay the total amount past due on ALL accounts or nothing all! My husband was furious! We called an attorney through a legal service who informed us that since each item had a separate contract, they could not legally lump all the payments together or "require one omnibus arrangement requiring payments in the aggregate rather than individually; each contract stands alone." We also challenged the fact that we have been paying $14.00 per month for a club membership for which we have received nothing in return. The attorney also informed us of the OHIO Revised Code 1351.06 govern-ing "rent to own agreements" which states that once a customer makes 50% of the (weekly or monthly) payments and those payments total more than the stated cash price, the agreement should be terminated at that point. I am in the process of auditing each agreement to determine if I still, in fact, owe them anything.

We were talking to the salesman and I mentioned Rent A Center and wanted to see if they were the same, he told me no. It comes down to us filling out an application and we put down personal refferences. I never put down Rent A Center, had only mentioned it. The salesman goes into the office closes the door, and reappears 5 minutes later to get the manager, they go into the office again, door closed, and reappear to tell me that they could not get ahold of my personal refferences and could not rent the new items to me due to their policy, only used old items could they rent to me. So for some reason Rent A Center came to mind when I got home I called Premier back and asked what really happened , the manager told me that he had his sales associate lie to me, that Rent A Center gave me a bad refference and that it was my fault for being late on my payments there. After explaining to him that I didnt even put down Rent A Center as a refference, and that wasnt that illegal for giving out personal info to a company not even associated with them, the manager proceedes to yell at me about how he doesnt care.I eventually hang up, and call the Valparaiso Rent A Center, Betty answers the phone and I explain whats going on, instead of really telling me what happened Betty tries to rent to me new merchandise that Premier would not.I explain to her that I dont want to even rent from them, they shared my personal info with a company without my permission and that company had nothing to do with them.Betty says she doesnt know who did it and still tries to rent me the merchandise up until we hang up.

My mother bought a HD TV from Rent a Center about a year ago. December of 2008 we noticed that the corners of the screen were bleeding color. It was dark and looked purple on the corners of the screen. My mother and I went to the store and asked it to be serviced as she only had two payments left on the TV so she wanted to have it fixed before she paid fully. She also purchased a laptop so that she could give her old Lap top to my sister who is stationed in SanDiego in the Marine Corps. They gave her a rental Lap top for herself in the meantime. While they searched for the LapTop that my mother wanted to purchase. A week later after the holidays, they came to pick up the TV to have it serviced. A month passes and my mother calls to find out the status of her purchases such as when the Television was going to be done being serviced and if they found the Lap top the she wanted. All this time she was paying on the LapTop evey week. Crystal the store manager said it is going to take more time. My mom asked her to speak to me as my Mother is very sick with Cancer and she cannot take the stress. The television is the only thing that she can watch she cannot go out, she cannot even make her own food, I do almost everything for her. She purchased the lap top to have contact with my sister who is miles away. Well, Crystal put my mother on hold and then my mom gave me the phone. I waited on hold for about 10 min. and then I heard a dial tone. Crystal never called me back that evening. I told my mother "tomorrow when I get out of work I am going to Rent A Center to take back your rental Laptop and tell them that you do not want the Lap top and to find out the status of the TV and pay the last payment on the TV which was $167.13". She said to tell them to keep the money that she was paying on the Lap top because she had the rental out. I beleive that this was the week of the Feb. 9th I am not sure which day. The next day after work I went there around 6:30-7PM and gave them the rental Lap top. I spoke to a guy named William. I told him that the service that we received from Crystal in the past month was terrible and that my mother does not want to Purchase the Lap top and I gave them the rental lap top back. I told him that she hung up on me last night, maybe this was un-intentional but she never called me back to answer any of the questions that my mom had about the television that was almost paid off and the Lap top the she was making payments towards. He told me that they have documented in a book that 3 weeks ago Crystal denied service on the TV because there servicer quoted them more than what my mother had left for a payment meaning that it is going to cost more to fix the TV than my mom has to pay. He also told me that they were in the process of getting another TV which was the same in good condition. I also brought the last payment with me to pay the TV off but he said I could not because the loner was still at my house. I can pay when the switch is made. He said that they will call us when they can drop the TV off. Well, they called at the end of the week of the 16th I beleive it was Thurs. the 19th. My mother was very sick and she did want anyone at the house. We called them back Tues. the 24th afer the weekend. A man named Rob dropped the TV off and hooked it up. My mother gave him the $167.13 which was the last payment and he signed a paper saying that he received the last payment. Not even 40 min later the TV was bleedinng at the corners of the screen. I called Rent A center and spoke to Rob the one who delivered the TV and he said that there was nothing wrong with the TV and that we need to check our cable wires. The loner that he took out had no problems I said it is not the wires. I told him that this TV looks like the exact same TV that we asked to get serviced. I told him that I wanted to come in and pay for the benefits plus package so that we could have a longer warrantee on the TV and get it serviced. #1 this should have already been serviced and I should not have to pay for a Benefits Plus package. But I would have been willing to. He had the nerve to tell me that there was nothing that they could do because the last payment had been paid and they closed it out in the system. My mother paid over $1000 for this TV and half the time it was in the shop supposedly getting serviced. They lied to us and made us wait and then tried to trick us and gave us the same TV. I do not know what to do. They brush my mother and I under the carpet and say "there is nothing we can do". They scammed my mother. Please help us they took advantage of my mother she is very sick. I really do not want them to get away with this.

Charlie got on the phone and was very rude and he said he asked Mark and that he denied collecting money from me and that he beleived him. Well I have no reason why to lie about 43.00 when I have spent a lot of money there and I am working and the reason I called to have the set picked up is because I didn't want to owe anything, other people play games and keep the items I called right away and Charlie was very rude and said ok I will sent you a receipt but I still waiting and no receipt. I writing in regards to the incredibly poor customer service received at one of your locations. RAC Store # 111B. My family has been loyal RAC customers for several years (20+). We were thankful that there was alternate means of acquiring the things we needed and wanted.
Recently, due to economic reasons, I moved in with my father, I rented a washer and dryer from RAC #111B. Due to illness and out of state treatment I fell behind on the payment. The washer and dryer was picked up by the store reps on Saturday. My father decided he wanted to start a new agreement for the washer and dryer. The reps bought the washer and dryer back on Tuesday, had my father complete a new rental application and sign a new agreement. A copy was not left for my father. The reps that connected the washer and dryer did not connect the hoses to the wall facets so when my father started the washer the water flooded the kitchen and damaged the hall carpeting. We had to call to request that they return to complete the installation correctly. We were aware of the promotion for February, I inquired on my fathers behalf as to whether he would qualify. We were told no because he was taking over my agreement. But, that was not the case my name is no where on the agreement and the pricing was increased. I then asked for a copy of my former agreement and my father requested a copy of his current agreement. The rep at the location told me, if I did not like the arrangements we could take our business elsewhere. At that point I asked to speak to the manager Lisa. I was told that she was not available and that she would call me back. I called several times and left several messages. When it was time for my fathers payment the store called several times. On Friday, February 20, 2009 I called the store and asked to speak to Lisa, I was told by Dan she was with a customer and that she would call me back. When the return call came it was Rico, once more I asked to speak to Lisa, was put on hold for several minutes and Lisa answered. I asked Lisa why my father was being not being made privy to the February promotion; she stated she was doing me a favor.? She stated she was extending my agreement to my father, but my father signed a brand new agreement with a brand new application. She then proceeded to state that my father was not a brand new agreement but was placed under my deceased mothers account which was paid off in cash almost two years ago. When I respectfully persisted for an explanation, she stated she does not deal with customers, and was not fully aware of the agreement made, and the price increase of the washer/dryer was apart of recent price increases to all customers?. I then politely requested that Lisa postal mail me a copy of my former agreement and a copy of my agreement within five business days, because I could not pick the paperwork up. She said she would if she had time?. I then stated I was ready to make a $50.00 payment on my debit card on my fathers account, she then stated she would call me back?, because she doesnt even know if she wants the payment? and hung up. I never once raised my voice, used foul or disrespectful language. I only requested a reasonable explanation, none was given. I would hope this inept level of service is not the creed or mission of your company. I have referred several customers in the past. However, after this experience I believe that was not the wisest move to have made. We are at this point actively seeking other alternatives for a washer and dryer.

Now they are calling repeatedly and calling all our refernces and our landlord(we lost our house last August so we are renting now). They won;t stop calling and they say we must return the computer and re-rent it on our next payday. Now we will have no computer and if they wipe the hard drive all will be lost. When confronted about purchase, RAC said they would get us a BRAND NEW one, but would not credit us what we have paid up to date. In checking on past payments, we've paid $235.00. But they say it's only $200, even after showing them receipts. Why is it that a national company has to operate this way? Taking advantage of people and basically stealing from them. They already make millions off the public.

I got my son a tv for Christmas and that was the worst mistake I ever made. They done a lot of harassment before, and I did not say anything but the people that works at that store needs delt with. Several Months ago I sent my owned Tv bought from Rent A Center for repair. The repair center was going to fix it but then a few weeks later let the store know they trashed it. Without nofiying me. Once I was notified after I went to the store and inquired alot I asked them what they were going to do about it. They advised they would replace my tv. The First tv they replaced it with had purple spots and black spots. They took that tv and put it in the shop and gave me a loaner which I had to pay for???? And lo and behold the service center trashed that tv. So they brought me a 2nd tv. This tv had red bloches all over the screen that made all the people look like they had the chicken pox. They came and got that tv and took it to repair, they gave me another loaner that I had to pay for again????? Then 3 weeks went by and they finally brought back the tv from repair. Guess what? When we go it back it still had the same problem. I called the store manager again and asked him if they turn on their tvs before they send them out. He said that because it just came from service that they assume (you know what that means) You make and ass out of you and me. So they come get it again. Without calling show up on a Friday night about 730pm or so and the 2 people that came her Billy and they skinny guy that was with him. Were the most sarcastic individuals I have ever come across. Especially when I had 5 potional customers of Rent A Center in my house at this time. They bring me another tv and said I can keep it with no payments til they get my tv back from the repair shop. Again the TV trashed at repair. I have now been sitting here with a 60 Dirty on the inside so much you can see the hair on the screen on the inside roached crawling inside on the screen and now today 2/17/09 after having cable installed now freezes the screen every 10 secs. I called the old manager of this store and he was going to call his boss David. I have been a customer of this rent a center for more than 20 years. I have a $800 instore credit. I have bought furniture & tv's paid cash money and currently renting a tv. I called the store today and spoke to Vic which by the way is the greatest and deserves a raise and any compliments that he can get. He is the only reason I have not shut my account down. I have been told today that they are going to replace my owned tv with a 52 JVC. I have given them warning that it better not have anything wrong and better not have to be taken in for service anytime soon. I am very aggravaited with this whole situation and cannot believe that it has taken more than 6 months to get this resolved. If it is going to be resolved. I have been doing customer service since I was 17 no 41 and have never experienced anything like what I have been experincing in the last 6 months. I also feel that due to all my agravaition, stress etc.. that my $800 in store credit be turned into cash and sent to me. It's probably more than that now.
Please respond to me on this matter. If not I will pull my account and start telling everybody I know to pull thier accounts or go to another store. I have never in my life had so many issues in one place at one time.

I recently moved into a brand new luxury apartment and wanted to start all over with my furniture. So I came across the "Free til February 7th deal", and decided to call them. I had a lot of company coming over that weekend and I was told that I would receive my furniture on Friday after 5. Of course you probably guessed the furniture never made it that night, so I had a house full of guest and no furniture. So the next morning I called to check on the status, and the worker said they didn't have any paperwork on me and that the "Boss" was out on vacation and wouldn't be back in a week! I was told to do the process all over again and wait until the manager got back. I was furious. After the whole day of pulling teeth, the matter was solved and the furniture was delivered that night. I read the paperwork about the "Worry Free Guarantee", and as I was signing the paperwork I was given the price of the furniture: 1. Ashley Sofa/Loveseat- $1800; 2. LG 32" LCD/Stand- $2000.

This completely blew me away! Luckily there were a lot of sales on furniture and television set, I guess with it being Superbowl and tax season. We were able to pick out a full living room set and a bigger t.v. half the price of both figures put together. All within the "first week of possession", and saved a lot of money. I called Cory to have them come pick up the furniture, and she replied, "So what did ya'll just need it for that weekend or what?" and I told her we found furniture for a cheaper price. She replied, "Yeah. Well, nobody will be there until Monday." I said okay. It is now 2/17/2009. I made the call on 1/31/2009, and the furniture is just sitting in my dining area. I called one of the workers who delivered the furniture. He stated my name was not on the work order. I find this lady to be very unprofessional, it seems as if she was angry for me exercising my right to return the furniture, and is just leaving it there. I have placed many calls to have it picked up and it's still there.

A credit card is not that high. I can go out and buy two for the price of one from them. Rip off. Stay away from them and the model they tried to sell me is a lower grade than the model I got for 1300.00 at a store. My wife and I recently moved to a new area in Seattle and had no intention in purchasing furniture. We were actually in a showing center and drove by a Rent A Center. There was furniture outside wrapped in plastic and unwrapped. We thought it was a going out of business sale of some type so we parked and walked in. We slowly figured out what the place was about. We wanted a new dining room table and they just happened to have one on clearance for $125 dollars. We bought it cash. My wife also really liked a bedroom set and we didn't want to pay movers to bring ours from more than 300 miles away, so we decided to rent them.

Now, after they delivered the items, I noticed that there were multiple chips on the head board and the posts (it was a four post bed) and there was a piece missing on one of posts that made the bed look lopsided. We quickly called Chad, the Store Manager at the Lynwood, WA Store and he had someone come by and take a look at it. He then called me and told me that they would order the headboard alone. I was told it would be a few weeks, and 2 months later there still was no headboard. I really didn't mind because Chad was very communicative and kept me informed in the process. After almost three months, Chad calls me and asks me if I would mind selecting a different bedroom set. There was no cost difference and no added months to our payments. We actually like our new bedroom set than the other.

Rent A Center has been very professional with us, and Chad and his team have always been very nice and welcoming. I'm sorry to see that others have not had the great experience we are having. We will actually be going in tomorrow to look at a bunk bed. We could go someplace else, but hey, they have been good to us.

I am renting a fridge from Rent-A-Center. They came on Tuesday afternoon to drop it off. My husband and I both worked and Tues. and Wed. we did not get home till late. Well Thursday, my husband had the day off and went to clean the kitchen. He noticed that there were scratches on my three-week-old kitchen floor. He traced the scratches to under the fridge. There is also a gouge in the floor. When I got home from work, I was extremely mad. So I called Rent-A-Center and told them everything. The manager was out on an errand and the man I was talking to told me I must have very thin floors.

First of all, I don't care if it's thin. They should have been careful no matter what. Even though it doesn't matter, I got my floors from Lowe's and it was professionally installed. He told me the manager would call me that night when he got back. He never called me so I called back at the time they closed. The manager then told me to call the next morning and he would come out to take pictures. So the next day, it was raining. I went to work and so did my husband. I gave him a call when he told me to. Another manager answered the phone and said he was at the bank. He took my name and number and said he would call me as soon as he got back. Of course he never did.

So I called my husband to have him call to see if he could get anywhere with them. So when he called, the manager told him that they were waiting to see what the weather did. Excuse me, I am at work in the rain and my husband is installing cable in the rain. You are telling me you can't come into my home and take pictures because it's raining? Every time we call, we get the runaround and I am sick of it. I want something done now!

After assembling the table and chairs and leaving my home, I noticed three of the chairs had legs that rocked and were not the same length. Two days later after cleaning the table top I noticed a crack in the table top. I called Rent A Center and the manager acted like she did not know what to tell me.

I called Ashley furniture and they told me that a new table and chairs should be sent to me and if Rent A Center did not know how to handle the problem they would tell them how to handle the problem. Rent A Center offered to bring me one from the show room floor. I told them this was not acceptable as the one I received was still in the box and not used. I am waiting to hear back.

First of all, every complaint I read is exaggerated. I used to work for Rent A Center. I ran 3 very successful stores and one in the top 10 of the company. I just left over a year ago to pursue other opportunities that were less stressful and hours. So I have no reason to be on their side. I will be honest with you all. Like mentioned in past comments about them, no matter how much money you put into the merchandise it is not yours until you make all or your payment, PERIOD!!! It is clearly stated on the Consumer Lease Agreement. Even if you paid over $4000.00 into it they have the right to pick it up if you can't pay the weekly or monthly payment, which ever you chose at the start of the contract. It sucks but oh well that's what you signed up for.

If you refuse to call them back even if they call you 4 times a day stop being a SCUMBAG and call them. They are reasonable and believe me they don't want to lose the account especially at these times. They will hold the merchandise for up to 30 days and if you don't believe them get it in writing or get the District Manager involved. The people who steal the merchandise are the reason for the high prices. They take serious risks on customers. Especially the ones with bad credit. I've seen almost every circumstance in the 8 yrs I worked there. There is no excuse. If you don't like the way the business is ran then don't do it with them. Very simple concept.

Now the headboard is starting to come apart at the seams on both sides at the bottom moving up. So I called and reported it. So I called back and spoke to the store manager and he said he didn't see where it was ordered, but would order one right away. That has been about three to four weeks now and sill no headboard. I used to pay every 2 weeks, but that got too complicated and I usually forgot about it, till they called before closing. So, I pay on the 1st of every month.

Anyway, I live in Arkansas, and 2 weeks ago, it got very, very cold here. Well, a plastic pipe inside my washer froze and busted. I called RAC, and they came and picked it up and even brought me a BRAND NEW loaner for me to use until they get mine fixed. They're all very, very nice to me. I've had a few mishaps, but nothing extraordinary… Would I recommend them?... Of course, if your credit is bad, and don't have the money to buy one outright…

You should probably take a look at yourself before you start bashing rent to own... You should know what you are getting into before the process even starts. If not, then it's understandable why you need to rent and you have bad credit. Obviously you have made bad decisions in the past. It's explained in the beginning that you are to make on time payments. Just like any other bill, this one is not optional. No matter if you are 1, 2 or more than 3 days late... you will get a phone call. It's called communication. If you cannot make a payment on time, make a phone call and you will be worked with. Just because you have made 3 or 5 payments on a TV or whatever it is you are renting, does not make it your own. It is still Rent A Center property and we reserve the right to repossess it at anytime your payment is delinquent.

It is in the contract... Maybe you should take a look at it. A few months into your agreement you start to complain of the weekly fees...Well, this is what you signed up for. Maybe you should look into what you're doing before you do it. You are told your options before renting, and if it happens that you were not told, you always get a copy of your agreement. READ IT. If you can't afford your merch. anymore, RETURN it. It is not yours, and that is considered stealing. You can always pick up where you left off and we would be more than glad to hold it off for you.

He just told me to sign it so that his boss know that he had read everything to me.

Well when I went in June to pay my next payment, I went home and read my receipt and it stated that I was getting charge for a preferred customer club so I called Rudy at Rent-A-Center and told him about this and he said that I need to come in to sign a paper so that I don't have that. I explained to him about when I had sign up for my bed that the guy that was helping I told him I didn't want that but he said to sign it anyway although I didn't check the box to agree for that. He said that he has my signature and I said yeah because he told me to sign but I didn't check the box to receive it.

They been charging me every month after that and I did sign the paper with Rudy back in June and he said he was going to take care of it and not to worry about it so didn't until I seen my receipt again on 1/17/09 and it states that I am still paying for this program. I called Rudy about it and he told me that they don't have the paper that I had sign back in June but I told him that I did come in and sign that paper and you told me not to worry about it, he told me that I only signed a paper on 5/16/08 about the program and I said yeah I signed it because that's what the guy said to do but I didn't check the box to have the benefits. He said that I have to come in again and sign a form again, but why should I if I did already.

I have been paying for something that I didn't sign up for and he said that I would be able to get a refund. Plus this preferred club that I supposedly signed up for, if you sign up for something shouldn't you get something from what you are signing up for? Well in my case I didn't sign up for and I didn't receive anything for this benefit but yet I am paying for it. I just want to get refunded for this charge total of $112.40 since May 16, 2008.

However, I felt that renting to own would be much easier for the big purchases rather than saving for a few weeks. I now believe that saving is all the well worth it. The customer service is absolutely unacceptable. If you are even one day late on your payment, they will call your telephone number that you had provided around 8 times a day. This statement is not exaggerated. Sometimes they will call you almost every hour. They will also call your place of employment a few times as well. Thankfully, I am a manager and I happen to screen the calls at my place of work. If this occurs at a place that you are unable to have personal phone calls, this may be a problem for you.

The voice mails that they leave are quite intimidating. They are very rude when they leave their short lecture. I have never had a vehicle financing, credit card company, or rental property ever use the tone or rude lecture that I have experienced with this company no matter HOW many days that I happen to be late (let alone only ONE day late). They are also rude when they deliver your item to your house as well.

The cost is also not worth it. I opted to rent a PS3. After reading my contract, I quickly returned it and bought my own PS3 one week later. PS3's can be purchased through Best Buy at around $399.00. The cash price at Rent-A-Center is $831.74. You have three months to pay $831.74. If you do not pay this amount within 3 months, you will continue doing payments. At the end of these payments, you will have paid $1,663.48 for a PS3. I could have bought almost 4 PS3's with this amount. The hassle that you receive at this company and the amount that you pay for these items are outrageous!!! I will never choose to rent to own ever again.

They delivered the rest of the bedroom set, gave us a contract, which we signed, and said that as soon as the bed frame came in, they would deliver it. The bed frame was delivered to us approx 6 weeks later. In the meantime, we continued to pay our rental fee. We ended up in financial trouble and they came and took the bedroom furniture on 1/12/09.

I even reached gold card status. I've even been paying extra $$ for a plan that is supposed to help in times of need; but apparently, it isn't set up that way (false advertising).

In November 2008, I became unemployed after sustaining a work-related back injury. I immediately notified my local RAC of the situation and they told me that they would work with me. I even mailed them a letter describing my situation and again asking them to work with me. The only response that I have gotten from them since then have been what I consider to be complete and total harassment, very unprofessional and immature. I feel hurt, embarrassed and violated by their business practices (very bad treatment).

First, I get 2 letters in the mail with different dates of termination and then I get a $10 coupon in the mail. Then one of the employees confronts my husband in another store and starts getting loud with him and airing our business for all to hear. The employees have been leaving loud, rude messages on our cell phones with different voices using the same name "Ray.” I’ve been getting "Missed You" tags left on my door and in my mailbox. They are calling 2-3 times a day, starting at 8am when their normal business hours do not start until 10am. They have been harassing my neighbors (like they would know our comings and goings), and have been calling my mother-in-law and harassing her.

Two years earlier I had a similar instance of abuse occur when RAC followed and harassed my children. Saturday night (1//10/2009), however, was the clincher (the last straw). RAC (both a truck and a van-more than one person) came to my home around 6pm and proceeded to bang and kick my front door like they were the SWAT team on a break-in mission. They hit my front door so hard that I felt it upstairs in my bathroom. They moved one of my porch chairs and peeked in my windows (invasion of privacy) and then began yelling obscenities (wanting their ** back). This abuse of authority continued for about an hour, so I proceeded to call the store to complain and he (the person on the phone) told me that the employees get paid by the hour and would stay there all night if necessary.

I told him that my husband had been sick and that I wasn't letting anybody in until he was in better health (he also suffers from a heart condition). The harassment continued which was causing undue stress on my husband who is disabled. What they (RAC) didn't know was that my daughter was visiting, who is 5 months pregnant and does not need that kind of stress to complicate an already sensitive condition. So after some continued harassment to my property, I will admit that I got rude and told the guy on the phone that if he didn't get his guys off my ** door that I was going to get them for harassment and for lying to me. Then I got up Sunday morning (1/11/2009) and found their RAC tags littered on my porch, a crumpled tag in the ashtray (on my porch), and tags stuck on every window of my car. I was so irate that I had to take pictures (in case I go to court).

This type of treatment, how immature and childish can someone be? I am planning to contact my local BBB because of this harassment. RAC has been nothing but unprofessional and the employees are crude and impolite. They feel that they are better than anyone else and that tough economic times will not hit their pockets. If I was their boss, I would have fired them long ago for unprofessionalism. Thanks again for allowing me to vent my anger.

I made arrangements for a Monday. I didn't make it, figured the store was closed and would go in the next day. I got a call that Monday night at 7:04. It was the manager calling from a number that didn't come up in my caller id. I answered it; it was the manager on HIS personal cell phone. I was mortified. Isn't that some type of violation? He doesn't own his own business. Why is my confidential telephone number in his personal phone? Wow, the harassment is unbearable. He then said he could call me that late, to ask his supervisor. What a joke!! I was going to purchase the Fridge and the dryer at income tax time but now I'm going to use it and return it the end of this month and cash out on new merchandise far away from Rent A Center. Also, I had a bad encounter at the store up the street on Elizabeth Lake Rd. that said I rented something previously that I hadn't paid for. When I denied it, the rep looked at me and said, "I can't help you," without even checking it out. How offensive. I hate Rent A Center.

They have very rude employees that work there. I recently rented a TV from them and I missed one payment on time. The employee that worked there called me every hour on the hour harassing me on my job, at my in-laws' and everywhere else that she felt she could get in touch with me. After their attempts failed, they came to my house and beat on my doors and on my bedrooms windows very loudly. They hollered and said obscene things from the outside. I felt like that was unprofessional of them. I have been a very good customer to them and I didn't appreciate the way that they handled the situation.

I contacted the store manager and he basically told me that it was my fault and that I should have come to the door. But honestly, who wants to go to a door at 8 in the morning and someone beating on your door like they are crazy? I know that I should have opened the door, but I was very pissed off because I felt like they were trying to intimidate me. They scared my kids by knocking so hard on the windows and also disturbed my neighbors. I turned the TV back in to them and I vowed that I'll never do business with them anymore because they don't act tactful. If this was my business, I wouldn't want anybody working for me who behaves the way they did.

When we first signed the contract we were so desparate for a quality mattress that we proceeded even though the cost of rental was would end up being over 50% of the cost of the mattress itself. After making faithful payments and changing ours from monthly to biweekly RAC has shown us how dirty they can treat a good customer. Somehow, their corporate office can justify calling every day beginning on the day your payment is due until the "seventh day" that would signify the end of your contract. The whole time threatening to take the property back after the seven days. Not only did the people at the Redding office call several times a day (resulting in at least 11 calls in seven days),they called my husbands office, and they also called people on a list of "references" that we named when we signed our contract (we thought that the references were for our character in regards to renting). They were trying to track us down and we had not even reached seven days yet! When I did call to make a payment I got lectured, in the same breath they told me I was a good customer and they did not want to loose my business. I see how RAC treats its good customers now, and despite already paying $1900.00 on a mattress I still don't own I cannot justify doing business with this company anymore. I called to have my mattress picked up before my next payment was due. The gal said it would be picked up on the following Monday. That Saturday I received 3 calls as a "friendly reminder" that my payment was due: 2 from STeve, whom I spoke with, and 1 from Matthew who called within 10 minutes of Steve! (LITERALLY!!!!). Furious, I called the store but neither guy was available, so I spoke with Joseph and told him not to call be again unless it was about picking up the mattress. Well, it is now Tuesday and no one has called or come by as planned to pick up the mattress and I am wondering if someone will just show up without a call, and what would my rights be?

We rented a brand new HP Slimline computer from the Far North New Bedford store in the winter/spring of 08. In October of 08 I brought the computer in to be serviced as the on/off button was sticking on the hard drive. All that needed to be fixed is the button. The employee that took my computer and wrote up the service papers on it put it in to have windows wiped. When I got my computer back 2 weeks later ALL of my data was gone. My hundreds of photos of special memories of my children are GONE! After many tears they said that they would not have wiped it clean so to bring it to a computer fix store and they would cover the cost....which I did and that store could not find any data left on the computer. They also fixed the button which RAC service had never even done in the first place. When I spoke again with Leanne she was unsympathetic and unsure of what to do for me. I asked for a GM name and number and she refused to give me any information but offered to have RACs service department try to search for the information. I agreed. I dropped the computer off on 11/12/08. After 3 weeks of waiting and not hearing anything I called and again looked for Leanne. I asked for Leanne, the manager, and was told she was not in so I asked if another manager was available and put on hold. 5 minutes later Leanne picks up the phone and tells me she will see if the computer has come back with the other serviced items on Thursday 12/4/08. Sure enough she comes back in minutes and says that they were unable to find anything on the computer after running it for 24 hours and my computer is there for me to pick up. That was it....no sorry NOTHING! I said "so that is it"? She replied "yup that is it". I asked for a number and name for the GM once again she would not give me that information instead gave me the 1-800 number to customer service and began to tell me that I could go ahead and "call that number but no matter who I spoke to in the company no one was going to help me". SHe began to state that "if there had been a power surge I wouldve lost my data anyway". I told her that "that was not the situation and has nothing to do with happened and that it is her stores fault for not doing the right thing". It was a huge shouting match as always and she hung up. This woman has zero customer service skills. I called 2 other RACs locally before getting a name(Micheal)of the GM but no one had a number. All they could say is that no one had this number and they were never able to contact him unless he walked into their store. After several attempts at calling the 1-800 number Leanne supplied I was able to get through and left a message with Renee in Customer Service stating what had occurred. She told me that Micheal would be contacting me soon with in 24 hours of my call. That was on Friday. It is now Monday...still no call.

I always give them a time but they still continue to call - even on my work line and they also call my Dad and my Co-workers if they cannot reach me. On 10/23/2008 I gave them a written order to not contact me. It was as follows: Under the FDCPA, a debt collector may not contact a consumer at work if the collector knows or has reason to know that the consumer’s employer prohibits such contacts. On 9/20/2008 at 12:10 p.m., I informed the store manager, Deric Crow that my employer prohibits contact by phone or in person and that I cannot receive non-emergency cell phone calls while at work. In spite of this I was contacted at work by phone on 10/21/2008 and 10/22/2008 and by cell at 12:51 p.m., 2:13 p.m., and 4:58 p.m. on 10/21/2008. A co-worker was also contacted on 10/22/2008. I had made arrangements to pay on that day when I spoke with Deric the evening before but he neglected to note our arrangements resulting in the contact of a co-worker and of my Father. This was the third time my Father was contacted. The FDCPA also states that without the prior consent of the consumer given directly to the debt collector, or the express permission of a court of competent jurisdiction, or as reasonably necessary to effectuate a post judgment judicial remedy, a debt collector may not communicate, in connection with the collection of any debt, with any person other than a consumer, his attorney, a consumer reporting agency if otherwise permitted by law, the creditor, the attorney of the creditor, or the attorney of the debt collector. A collector may not communicate with a third party more than once.
Any contact by phone or in person after the date of this cease communication notice will be reported to the Federal Trade Commission. Your cooperation in this matter will be greatly appreciated.

We called and explained ourselves and said we would pay as soon as we recover and would they be understanding. They agreed but called us everyday on our cell-phones and at work. I called them and asked them not to do so as we already came to a compromise. But again, It didn’t stop. I then barrowed the money to pay them the $124.00 we were behind.
Wile I was there, I had asked if they would not send text messages to our cell-phone because of the cost. The manager replies, “I doubt that someone text you from here. I replied, “are you calling me a liar? She said they have no way to send text messages. I informed her that all they have to do is press 5 and it sends a text message to your cell. She then again said she didn’t believe that someone had sent a text. Even though we still have the text on the phone with the number who left the text. Three days after I made the payment, they send us a letter that says we still owe $124.00. We tried to clear this up but had no positive results. At this point I’m going to go to Washington DC to talk to who I can to find out what can be done about this. I have really no way of contacting anyone who could be helpful in a situation like this. I know there are consumer laws governing such actions, the problem is, there is no person to speak to and all I am able to do is spend money that I don’t have to hire a Lawyer. You would think after 20 years of business dealings with this company, they would be a bit more understanding and helpful. I’m wondering why this company doesn’t want business anymore. I guess we can blame it on lobbyist and greed in our government for them to be blind to illegal practices. I will not pay them until they fix their mistake and apologize for their unprofessional, unethical and illegal practices. I will have the money we owe in escrow.

We are a Premium member as of now. We returned a Living Room Set because it was too big. We did not see it before we got it was just delivered to us but we kept it for 2 to 3 weeks because we were told that we could get it for FREE since we were such good paying customers. Today my wife went to a local RAC to get some items and she filled out everything and a person by the name of Mat was helping her out. He told her that she would take anything without paying for it right now and was going to offer her a great deal. Well after everything was filled out and Matt called the center in Mishawaks, IN and spoke to Jessica about us. He came back and told my wife that he could not let her pick and take anything unless we paid for the weeks up front. She asked why? Mat told her that Jessica had told him that we were just FREE LOADERS! My wife of course got upset and demanded an explanation. Matt told her that we had just had a living room picked up and that we were just FREE LOADERS. According to Jessica, we would get things and return them without paying . I need someone to call me right away and prove to me that we are FREE LOADERS. That is a very low comment to describe us as Loyal Customer for years and that have bought thousands of dollars of your merchandise. I need a copy of all my transactions. If I have been such a Great customer and I am told that I can take anything in the store and not pay for it because we have that much h credit to be able to do so then why am I presented with this and then made to look like I am a FREE LOADER? even when we say that we do not want the item we are told. You can keep it for the 2 or 3 weeks that we have available to us and if we do not want it after that then we can return it. Don't offer me crap then! when I say I do not want it and then I am asked what would I like and I tell them well I would like a Black living room set for our new home and then the next things I have is RAC knocking to deliver the living room set. Then after we try it out for the time we were told to keep it and decide not to keep it because it is too big then that falls under your Guarantee Clause. We had it too close to the fire place since it was too big and it gets hot on the side of the arm rest. We got it without seeing it at the store. I am sure that if you go over our file we have paid for so many items and also rented. I am so upset that we were maid to be FREE LOADERS by Jessica. Since she came back and got out of the Pawn Shop she was working at it has bee really bad with her. Christ who is no longer there at RAC was really good with the customers and he always took care of them. When my wife went to the RAC in South bend , it was because we just wanted a closer center. we were not going to leave RAC. No I am! I can not believe that we were talked and made to be FREE LOADER. Heck the big screen TV alone was around $2,800. and all the other stuff man we paid them all off. I want someone the take care of this issue and fast! Last time we had an issue we had our attorney handle some of it and got Headquarters to work out with us a favorable solution to both parties. If this is going to happen again, this time I will follow through with any litigation to clear up this issue and I will inform any and all that need to hear as to what we have gone through with RAC and yet we remain loyal. We have been with RAC for over 7 years. We have paid off thousands of dollars of merchandise...
57" Screen TV, Washer & Dryer, Sofa & Love Set, Sony Video Camera, Twin Youth Bedroom Set with Twin Mattress Set, One Flat Screen Computer, One Dell Computer without Screen, Living Room Lamp, just finished paying off the computer. Not anymore!

About 2 months ago I had to rent a computer from rent a center. We went in on a Saturday, they stated they had to bring the computer on Monday to my house. That next Saturday, before a payment was even due, they called my house at 8am. Since that time they have harassed and been impossible to deal with. Tonight, they called my house and began to tell me what I owed. My payment is late because I do sub contract labor work. I called them on Monday and told them I would be late. It doesn't matter if you call and make arrangements or not, they harassed you all the time. They called all my references I listed with them after being late one day. One day that is it. When they called tonight, I told them I would never rent from them again, I am getting some money in from school and I will be buying a computer. If I could have done my job without a lab top I wouldn't have ever rented anything from them. They are impossible to deal with.Plus the computer I am renting I can purchase for 1,000.00 dollars. If you purchase it from them within the first 90 days you pay 1800.00, which is a rip off.
When they call your house, they say I wanted to call and see what time you are going to be in today. I am also going to contact the BBB.

Anyway, I am here because I want the public to know exactly what they are getting into. Rent-a-center charges at a minimum 200% over what the item cost them. In most cases the goal for all stores is 450% over what the item costs the store. Also, the used mattress' they sell are not cleaned. All the bed bugs, stains and everything else go to the next customers house. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. They feed off of the poor, and you as a consumer should contact your local legislator and let them know that this business is in violation of most state usery laws. I initially signed a rent-to-own aggreement for a HP Pavillion laptop and I were to make weekly payments until the end of the contract and I would own the laptop. I also paid a monthly extended service fee (preferred customer) for any services I may need for an additional two years after the laptop was paid for. In August 2007 I completed the contract and had purchased the laptop. Recently the laptop has been powering off while I am using it and so I called Rent-A-Center on 10/27/08 inquiry their services. I went to the store where I had been making payments for the laptop and told them of the problems I've been having. After looking at the laptop and Mr. Johnson realized there is problem and locating me in their system he stated that I had paid off the laptop over a year ago. I said yes but I had paid for the extended service and was told that it would cover an additional two years. Mr. Johnson proceeded to tell me that the preferred customer was a benefit plus program they now have and that any extended service for any item would only be for a year. I told him he was incorrect because I had paid $552 dollars for this plan and it was not for a discount card. I also asked him to show me something in writing regards to extended services and he said Rent-A-Center doesn't have anything in writing stating the fact. I became very angry and stated that I paid more than $2000 dollars plus the extended service and now you are telling me you can't help me. I then asked for Mr. Johnson to show me something in writting regarding this extended services and he said Rent-A-Center did not have one. Even when the original store manager who wrote up the contract stated that the preferred customer membership would cover any additional service like repairs, parts replacement for two years after purchasing, he said that wasn't what I paid $552 for instead it was for some sort benefit discount car. I have paid more than $2890 for this laptop and the preferred customer membership for the extended services. I know what I was told when I signed up for the preferred plan and now they are saying something different but cannot prove it to me in writing.

I always would pay $25.00 with my payment only being $23.65. I was trying to pay it off early. I've had wonderful experiences. You've had real customer oriented employees. At one time, I had built my suspense up to $7.56. When Austin arrived, he alleged that I had late fees. The store was closed for Labor Day and I had a talk with Dorien about that issue and he said, "I will give you credit for that day", so I came in the following day and took care the payment. But the $7.56 disappeared and I asked Austin about it.

He said, "You had late fees." He proceeded to dispute me. I was going to call the office but I decided to let that situation go. On 10/14/08, I had enough of his unprofessional behavior. I had a conversation on the phone with Austin concerning my payment. I told him that I spoke to some about picking my payment up on Monday, 10/13/08. I told him, "They told me it was on Saturday." He replied, "You still have a late fee", and "It's not our responsibility to pick up your payment." So I ended the conversation and went up to see what he was talking about.

As I enter the building, I asked where was the little boy who answered the phone because he sounded and acted immature. Austin came from the back and said, "I am not a little boy." I Told him that, "I was calling the office" about this constant problem every week. Austin said, "You can call the office if you want to. I don't care." Austin also said, "Do you want to use one of these computers?" I said, "No, I have my own." Austin replied, "We're not going to pick your payment up anymore." I said, "I will call the office first thing tomorrow morning." He said, "So?" I feel like he treated me with disrespect because he was abusing his power. He really needs an attitude adjustment and skills working with the public. I owe just a $156.00. Once It's paid off, I will be seeking other places to rent from who have respectful workers.

To my surprise, this woman is my soon to be ex-husband's girlfriend. We exchange words and then she threatens to beat me up when I come out of the store. Your store manager tells both of us to be quiet and not to worry because she will walk me outside.

While the woman waited for me outside, another customer witnesses her calling someone and telling them to come to the store to help her beat me up. She comes in the store and tells the store manager. At this time, I am on the store's phone talking to customer service trying to file a complaint. At this time, the girlfriend enters back in the store with 5 other people. I've never seen any of these people before. As all of them walked to the front of the store where I was standing. The girl in the front said, :**. I'm gonna ** you up" and advanced towards me with her fists.

I in turn tried to grab her off of me but the rest of them jumped on me together. I fell to the sofa. There is where they continuously kept beating on me. Even the 16-yr-old daughter got her piece in trying to rip my hair out. No one in the store attempted to help me. Once the girls got off me and ran out of the store, then the store manager calls the police. I feel I was set up by your store manager. She knew the girlfriend and my husband. She was the one who took the payment. She also admitted to talking to my husband about his relationship with the girlfriend. She told me the only person she knew was the girlfriend. I was in the store first. Wonder how the girlfriend knew I was there?

To make matters worst, these people are affiliated with the Gang. I am requesting a copy of the surveillance tape. I saw myself being recorded from the beginning. My wife, Daria and I are buying a big screen TV from Rent-A-Center. The manager of this store is named Jose. This is the representative in which we are dealing with. The contract was weekly to start with and then we went to monthly, or so we thought. Jose started to call us on the day before our due dates. We complained but this did no good (he is the mng). When I was on vacation, he called and said our monthly payment was weekly and demanded payment so we payed him with our ATM card, a weekly payment. He took a monthly payment after my wife told him to take a weekly payment and said he could not refund or fix this problem because his machine would not let him. But I could come in and get the money knowing I was in Mississippi on vacation and could not make it due to the fact I was not sure what payment schedule I'm on.

I was late on my next payment and the harassing phone calls started. He calls my work everyday, calling me 'boy' insultingly and says threats and the answering machine that he is going to have his boys back up a truck to my work and honk or beep all day. He leaves msg on my wife's sister's phone that he'll call the cops on her for us stealing his TV. Calls my wife's mother telling her we are over 30 days late and we aren't. He has hung up on me over 15 times and has his coworkers act like they can't hear me on the phone when I try to remedy this situation.

He has called me a mother** and challenged me to show up and pay for the TV. I tried to talk about this problem with the district mng and he said if I want to get a lawyer, I should. He could not help me at this point. I tried to make arrangements to make payments to another store but he was unwilling to help. I don't know where to turn and am angry that this seems to be ok that customers put up with harassing people of business and families. One company harassing another company because of a personal issue, causing gossip and lies to spread through out families. I have recorded messages and witnesses and phone records and bank statements to back this story and there are more incidents to report from this co. and myself. Do I have to put up with this or is there help out there? This co. likes to act like gangsters with the mentality that they can bully people. I am currently renting a refrigerator and a two piece living set from rent-a-center. I went into this contract in July 2008. When I received the refrigerator after a couple days I noticed that the bottom was not keeping my food cold. I called rent a center, letting them know and they sent someone to pick up the refrigerator (after 3 days)for service and left me with a loaner. When they left I looked into the refrigerator and it was filthy with dead roaches inside. I cleaned the refrigerator and left it open all night before putting my food in it. I called the store to complain about the condition of the refrigerator. I spoke with the manager Jason at the time.

After two weeks I noticed a roach crawling from behind the refrigerator. I went into the store and spoke with Jason telling him that I was disatisfied with the loaner because there were roaches in it. I told him I wanted the refrigerator out of my house. He said he would send someone by my home on Monday (it was Friday when I spoke to him) Monday came and went and so did Tuesday and Wednesday. I called him Wednesday evening. He said they got busy and he apologized. I told him a courtesy call would have been appropriate because I cancelled errands in order to be home for the delivery that never happened.

After another week they bought the original refrigerator back and it was filthy. I immediately got Jason on the telephone while the delivery people were in my home. I told him the condition of the refrigerator was unacceptable and when I opened it, it also had roaches in it (live ones). I showed the delivery men the roaches,(I am still on the telephone with Jason) He told me that I seem to be complaining too much so they should just terminate my contract now. He was most rude and unprofessional. I asked the delivery men to take the refrigerator out of my home and me and my children went without a refrigerator all night.

I went on line to put in a complaint with the head office and spoke to someone a couple days later by the name of John. The situation was resolved. Jason the manager has become very personal in dealing with my account, he is rude and disrespectful to me and my family. I recently fell behind on my payment. When he came to my house he bangs on the door frightening my children, while I was out he came to my home and my fifteen year old son caught him peeking through our back window. The asst. manager has been going to the gym I attend telling people of my lack of ability to pay. She came by my home and was loud catching the attention of my neighbors and my children's friends. Her behaviour caused a great deal of embarressment for my children and myself.

As a result of having a roach infested refrigerator brought into my home has caused the spread of roaches in my home which is unsanitary and unhealthy for my family.

Watch what you sign. The biggest thing as consumers is to make informed decisions. Rent to own is not for everybody, and that goes for both sides of the counter. When business is conducted properly RTO is a fantastic alternative to buying with credit. If you don't understand what an employee is doing, always call their supervisor. Get your thoughts together and calmly and rationally call the store manager or if that doesn't work call the 800# that is posted behind the counter. But do not attempt to do so, until you are calm and collected.

The key to RTO is clear communication and all sides. A breakdown in communication causes headaches for both the consumer and the coworkers. Always be sure that you read over your copy of the rental agreements, and if you have any questions DO NOT SIGN. The regulations vary from state to state as to the terms of the rental agreement.

If you think an employee is not doing the right thing, question it to his/her supervisor. If it smells, it must be fishy!

I fell on hard time and let them go back. I'm not give up my computer so they can keep thet threat and demand. I know the law of this state to why can they take what I own on my computer from the living room set.

Got a letter from them saying I had a credit of $500.00 or more from dinnett set $300.00 or less and $200.00 or less for a TV. They have been call for 3 or 4 time a day threat come take the computer. my had go to my doctor for somethink for my nerve. I so can you please stop the harassment from Rent a Center.\

Ive been renting to own a tv at rent a center going on about 2 years now almost about $4000 dollars in total and there have been alot of complications with the tv and in rent a centers guarantee it states

    Delivery & Service Included icon
We Service It - No Extra Charge
We take care of repairs throughout your entire agreement - and even supply loaner merchandise if offsite repairs are needed so you are never without. and on my contract with them it states if the problem is not fixed within 30 days they will replace it with a new one.

well we sent our tv in with speaker problems and after them having it for more then 3 weeks they returned it with the screen falling off so we called them again and had them pick it up to fix it and what they said was an easy repair turned out them keeping it for 30 days and then they returned it when they returned it once again the speakers were not working AGAIN so we called them and told them and even called customer service and have been told we would receive a phone call from a manager within 24 hours and no call, then i received a call from there store manager stating he understands there have been alot of problems with the tv and to call him about coming in and picking out a new tv due to so many complications.... now they are saying jonathan doesnt work there and we cant get another tv? i dont know what to do
