I have only used Instacart twice. The first time was when I had COVID, so I decided to order a few groceries to get me through the two weeks of quarantining. My order was stolen after Instacart driver claimed she "couldn't find my house" even though I left a detailed description that mentioned to call if she was confused. She didn't try to contact me, and even when Support got involved, she ignored them too. The second time I ordered was more pleasant, but barely as Support wouldn't help the Instacart driver with his card issues. Trying to get a sucessful delivery or a refund has been a nightmare with Instacart.

My shopper, Andrea, came to my apartment complex very drunk. She was loud and abrasive at the front desk. She had someone drive her since she couldn't. She refused to deliver my groceries because she thought it was too far to walk. Which it wasn't, she only had to take the elevator up a couple floors. She left my groceries in a cart, outside of the building. I called Instacart and they would do nothing to help me. I will never use them again!

So after mistaking charging my account for 445 instead of using the gift card that's on my account they are saying it's my fault. And if I dispute it with my bank my account will be canceled. Like I did something. I will be filing a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and your representatives who answer the phone keep blaming me like I processed the order when it was a representative on the phone name Marie.. I've been doing this all day long and you guys won't take accountability for the mistake you made.

The driver got lost 200 blocks away (I’m not even exaggerating. This person had 0 clue) and then cancelled my order. Then Instacart charged me a cancellation fee for an order that I never asked to be cancelled and told me my refund for the order would take 10 days. I literally used my last 40 bucks for the week for some food for the weekend. And now I have neither food nor money, plus I’m certain the driver got to keep my food. Do not use Instacart.

If only zero stars were an option because 1 star is giving this company too much credit. I was left mad, hungry and with no groceries.

I tried it and it was a total fail. 4 items were out of stock, two items were modified. So I went to my Foodtown app, and noticed two of the out of stock items were $3 less (each) than on Instacart. WTH? What's the point in same day delivery if you can't get what you order? They need a better way of tracking in stock items. Absolutely NOT worth it.

I'm a disabled senior that tried this service for the first time. My first delivery was sent to wrong address, 2nd canceled saying I wasn't available but I finally got the third delivery with missing items. I then found 3 charges on my bank statement. They charged me for both deliveries and another charge I have no clue about. I've spent over 30 hours on the phone and 50 emails dealing with these people. I've received assurance from 5 agents that my overcharge was refunded and processed to go to my bank. I received a refund of 3.66. They did not refund the 168.11 they overcharged me. Because of this overpay, I couldn't pay my full rent, so now I'm being charged 25 per week late fees.

I am a disabled senior with a very low fixed income. I have NEVER in my life heard of a company that does this to their customers. It's despicable. I'm not getting paid hourly to sit on the phone for over 29 hours and spend hours emailing back and forth. Even after sending the proof several times, they again asked me for it. I've have 7 dropped calls after waiting hours on the line only to have to phone back and go through it all again. I had charges I wasn't told about and they took the privilege of taking a tip as well. I've had companies return my payment same day, and that's it, they say they do.

So, now I'm out 168.11 as well as 100 for late payment charges and a 30 charge for a missed appointment because I was on the line for another 5 hours. Is this how they treat their customers? Not to mention I'm a disabled senior. I get 867.00 per month and have now lost 168.11, 100,30. This is the most unprofessional, screwed up company I've ever seen. Not to mention the distress I've been going through. This company should be shut down. Oh!! They also had me upload their app on both my emails. He wouldn't tell me why, just told me to do it. So now I have 2 monthly charges!! These people are thieves.

Doesn't matter that you select the store, Instacart allows, and coddles shoppers to override the customers selection of the store they choose and thus DO NOT GET THE ITEMS! The shopper is allowed to cancel or refund your items WITHOUT telling you! Had they had gone to the store the customer selected, they would have got the items! I was refused a Instacart manager and refused by the shopper to shop at the store I REQUESTED! Need to look into this company because they hold your money 3 to 5 days and it was their fault they have allowed their employees to do this to customers! NEVER will we use them again! I made my first purchase with Instacart. The shopper was great and checked in with me when an item was not available. One item was missing upon delivery. I contacted them and they responded saying a credit would be issued. The adjustment was never made or received by the bank and the original amount including the missing item was charged to my account. After 3 weeks of trying to resolve it with at least half a dozen different people, providing them with the receipt and a copy of the bank posting, I have gotten nowhere. So I gave up and decided the best approach is to warn others and let them make an informed decision.

I have been using Instacart for almost a year. While my experiences has mostly been positive there have been 2 occasions that the shopper inflated my requested quantities so that my final charge did not reflect my actual request. The first time the issue was resolved quickly. The second time not so much because the shopper had increased quantities so high that it went over $300! For some reason it seems like the platform has not figured out that they need to put safeguards in place so shoppers cannot randomly adjust quantities. It also bothered me that during this 2nd occurrence that the shopper was not contacted, at least I wasn’t made aware of it. When it comes to small issues the company is usually quick to fix those issues (missing item, issue with later than reported drop off times for example). It’s unfortunate that a few bad apples have to ruin things for other honest shoppers.

First off, I want to say I tried to give this app a serious chance. My husband and I both have Covid and ordered groceries Feb 7th from Aldi and out of all the items on our list only 1 pack of ground beef was delivered. Mind you, no one ever called to tell us about our delivery, and there was no way ALDI was out of every item in that store. The driver basically took our tip, and avoiding getting any other items or making adjustments. We talked to customer service and they took the driver off future routes for us. They were generous with credits so we thought we’d give them another chance. We talked to a manager and explained our situation and that we needed food in our home. He even said we’d get our refund back in 5-10 business days. So we ordered what we could with the credits.

AFTER TODAY I’m deciding to no longer use the service because this is the second time I’ve ordered with Instacart and my order did not arrive at my home. Not one item from “SAM’S CLUB”. No one even called upon arrival as I requested and the groceries were not by my door or the door of the front building. I’m sorry but fool me twice, shame on me. Now I have to wait 5-10 business days to get a refund. I’m terribly unsatisfied and will never use this service again and will be telling all my friends and family about the quality of service here. We’re sitting here with COVID and have no food!!!! WOW! I’m so over it.

I immediately started down the stairs and the shopper was dropping my order on the porch without ringing the doorbell. The shopper wasn't wearing a mask in violation of Instacart policy. While checking the bags I noticed some boxes that I didn't order. When I mentioned it to the shopper she immediately told me that I did. I was going to check my phone to see if I was charged. I would have kept the items if I had paid. She immediately grabbed the bag and said she would make sure I don't get charged. When I told her to wait for me to check but she jumped in the car and left. Turns out I was charged. Calls to Instacart and Kroger only resulted in a credit on my account, not a refund. Basically the shopper ended up stealing $15.00 in food that I paid for.

I truly wonder why Instacart seems like a popular app for ordering groceries when every time I’ve used it I’ve had terrible experiences. First I had to call the store to make sure they accept ebt so once I found out they did I put a whole grocery list all for it to not work on the app. To the point where they described my account over this! Literally penalizing me/ making it hard for me to use food stamps, I couldn’t even pay with a debit card after that because the app sucks so bad.

The whole process of ordering my groceries this last time in Jan. 2022, took all day after dealing with the misfunctioning app and then when I pulled up to notify them I was there once again the app wouldn’t work but you have to use the app to get your groceries. So I’m sitting there in the parking space waiting for my groceries and on the phone with Instacart customer service who has to fix the app and notify them to give me my groceries. It was such a headache to deal with that I WILL NEVER USE INSTACART AGAIN. I was so frustrated with it all that I cried!! Only reason why I gave it two stars was because the agent I talked to got the job done and was helpful. Luckily I got a good agent who was sincere.

The aptitude of the shoppers is hit and miss. Sometimes you get most of what you ordered - never everything. Sometime you end up with entirely baffling replacement items (e.g., ordered breakfast sausage links - got scrapple instead!!!). The last two times, I have had to cancel the entire order because the shopper apparently couldn't find anything and kept just refunding items to the point that I would not have gotten most of my order.

Today, I just got a text that said, "they are closing on me I have to stop," followed by a series of notifications of refunded items. I asked why I won't get my order and the shopper's response was "you gonna get like half." For real. I asked the shopper SEVERAL times to cancel the entire order and never got a response. Today, I placed a large order for $367.41 on Instacart. Within 25 min, I got an email saying that my order had been delivered. This was strange since I live about 20 minutes from the nearest Meijer. When I checked my front porch, there was nothing there AND I was charged $542.62 for my order - $175.21 over the original amount. When I reviewed the order, some of the quantities had increased to absurd amounts, driving up the price, & increasing the tip by $17.00. I started a chat to resolve the issue. When asked how I would like to proceed - account credit for $542.62 (yeah right), a refund in 5-10 business days, or have someone else deliver my order & refund the overcharge, I chose #3.

I had already wasted time placing the order & receiving very slow responses via chat. What I did insist, however, was that I wanted the refund immediately, as this situation was no fault of my own & I shouldn't have to wait. After a 45 min chat, the agent reordered my items but skirted my repeated questions about the immediate refund. He kept giving me non-committal answers and I finally gave up and left the chat thinking my order would still arrive on time & that I had no choice but to wait for the $175.21 to be returned. Roughly 10 min later, I got confirmation that my new order had been delivered. Once again, it was unrealistically fast & NEVER SHOWED UP.

I triple checked my address, which was correct, but the order was missing again. This time I called & requested a full refund. I obviously didn't want the hassle of another missing order. But, even after an abundance of insisting that they process the refund immediately, they refused. I asked to speak with a supervisor or a managing department who could approve the refund immediately and the agent refused me again. So now, I'm waiting 5-10 days for the $547 that was deducted from my checking account today & I still need food for my family.

Customers are real people who work hard to make ends meet for their families. To allow them to be out $547 for 5-10 days due to your negligence, is absolutely criminal. How do I pay for groceries & gas this week? What if this charge over drafted my account and I incurred additional fees? What if I couldn't pay my bills because you stole an extra $175 from my account without permission? If you can take money out of my account immediately, why can't you return it immediately? You should be ashamed of yourselves.

The website didn’t show any of the items I know they have in the store so when the shopper was finding the items almost every single one I had to substitute or was not in stock. This would have been annoying enough, however I then got a call from customer service saying that my order would be delayed because the shopper didn’t bring their card and couldn’t check out my order or deliver anything. I gave it a chance and let them put a different shopper on to check out and deliver.

However, this shopper wasn’t made aware that the order was complete and then began the whole process over again, was not friendly over text and was asking me where the original order was etc., refunding me for items the other shopper had found and was overall relatively rude. I called and had it refunded. Please read this since it is a pertinent health concern. Almost every single Instacart shopper that has gathered my groceries started out with perishables such as chicken, beef, salad mix, etc., even when I had 40 to 50 products on my list and most were not perishable. These products were often at room temperature for 1 to 2 hours, and sometimes arrived at my home warm. I would not want to poison my family and friends with Campylobacter, Salmonella, E. coli, or other harmful bacteria. If a restaurant left their food at room temperature for one or two hours, I venture to say that they would be at risk of losing their business. Instacart is not worth the health hazard. Customer service told me that the shoppers can go in any order they wish in a store. No regard for the safety of their customers! When I complained, they just wanted to compensate me with a small money credit and apologize for the “inconvenience.” There was no action to educate their shoppers.

A guy by the name of Guillermo who works for Instacart customer service was talking around the questions I was asking, was not giving me direct answers in regard to a refund I was asking for regarding my order I spent money on. He then proceeded to give me false information stating I would get my refund within one business day. I called back and was told refunds take up to 5 days. While on the phone with him, suddenly my card was charged by instacart for the same amount I asked to be refunded for an order I did not receive. He was giving lazy answers, not professional, did not give direct answers, and gave me false information.

Delivery person was lovely. Customer support was fine. It's the system that appears to be quite questionable. Issues include: Instacart displays items from various retailers as "available" when they are not available at all. The Instacart system does not seem to be synched with the retailer, and this creates issues. The discrepancies in my order were significant. Almost half of my items were either completely unavailable or needed to be substituted for another item, and every substitution needed to be confirmed by me. This is completely dysfunctional.

Instacart seems to add nothing in terms of either quality or convenience, and when I wanted to offer feedback, the questions were designed to blame the deliverers for "bad service", as if it is their fault that they are being asked to run around shopping for items that may or may not exist. As I am checking out, I see that on top of all of this, the wage of my driver is dependent on the TIP I give them, when I am already paying a service fee and a delivery fee to Instacart. It is unclear if Instacart pays their deliverers at all. Nothing about the Instacart service has eased the convenience of my grocery order, and I worry about inequitable employment practices as well.

So what was a $40 bill turned into just under $200. When I contacted support I was told it would take 5-10 days to refund the account, even though the original bill was under the $50 temp charge, I was charged the full amount right away. I've yet to see a refund. Terrible business, stay away!!!

Instacart should require their workers to call out the customer's name to make sure they are delivering correctly. Even if (after calling customer service and being on hold for a long amount) Instacart gives a re-delivery, items that were low may not be available, and given that we are in the midst of a pandemic, human contact is low on several people's priorities. In my case, after realizing her mistake, the Instacart worker actually came back to my home almost an hour later to try to get the wrong items back(!), which again shows the lack of training Instacart has given their workers.

Sometimes after order is completed, I receive a cancellation notice along with a email stating that I will be charged $15.00 for cancellation. This is the 3rd time this has occurred with the cancellation. They do not give you a reason why it was cancelled and tell you they are sorry, please reorder.

This last order that they cancelled wasted 5 1/2 hours of my time. They kept sending texts that, "Your order is being shopped by" ?. They changed my shopper 3 times until finally said, "Order is completed. We will contact you when it is on its way." 15 minutes later I receive the message that the order is cancelled. While your order is being shopped, you are usually texting back and forth with the shopper in case of substitutions. They tell you how much time you are saving by using Instacart but personally I could have driven to Restaurant Depot, shopped and driven home a lot quicker. I personally will not be using Instacart again.

I called customer service on service occasions and receive very poor customer service from everyone except for one individual. I checked the status this morning and it indicated that my order was delivered at 5:00 am today. Of course that is not correct, you have to be present at the front door when FedEx comes with your package. The only good thing about this situation is that they automatically credited back my funds to my account. Will I trust ordering wine from them again, NO.

Almost EVERYTHING I try to order somehow ends up being out of stock when the shopper tries to buy them. Weird that I have gone to the store right after the shopper tells me the item is out of stock, only to find it. I won't be using Instacart in the future!! I suggest people who choose to ignore the reviews and decide to use Instacart, check over your order really well once it's delivered. The amount of money the shoppers make is insulting. I drive at least 15-20 miles to shop. You're timed on how long you're expected to shop which is unfair because a lot of items are out of stocked and need to be replaced, which takes more time. Corresponding with the customer adds more time as well. Sometimes you deal with customers that are rude before you start shopping only so they can not tip, it's a game to some. You can be in the store all day shopping for 90 items and only get paid about $35 bucks, only to cash out $25 while waiting 2 days later for customers to approve their tip they offered up front. This would be a good side hustle if the pay was more. Gas is over $3 per gallon. The miles you drive to shop and deliver is crazy.

If you are looking to work for a company that has absolutely NO support for their employees then this is JUST for you! NO phone number or email; they say that they cannot disclose an email through chat and you can forget about asking for a phone number for shopper support. There's NO SUCH THING!!!! What kind of company doesn't have a phone number??? There's the first red flag!

So I had signed up to be a shopper and waited a couple of weeks before they emailed me and said that I was off the waiting list. As soon as I received the email, I finished setting up my account and took a picture of the front and back of my i.d. sent that in, then they asked I take several photos of myself turning my head left and then right and did it maybe 3-4 times. Finally after taking these photos, they told me to log back in so that I can start accepting jobs and order my shopper card! I did, the account was deactivated!!!!!!!! So I tried finding a way to get in touch with them to ask about what had happened.

After searching for ANY sort of way to support I finally navigated my way to a chat agent. I had explained what had happened. They could see on their end that the photo was not verifyable ...? I said, "Ok no problem I can take some more. And send them in to you." After I did the agent had made a comment about my looks which was very inappropriate. I shrugged it off, and they said that everything looks good and that I would get an email from the right department in 24-48 hours.

So I waited 2 days .... NOTHING. I tried logging back in and the account was still deactivated. So I reached out again and had a nice agent that helped me out and said that I was in very good hands. How she was a single mom and knows exactly how it is to be in this situation. She said she was escalating the matter and she would see to it that they did what they needed to to get it reactivated!!!! She also asked me to wait 24-48 hours. Well I waited and waited..... NOTHING!!!!!!!!!

So my shopper card finally came in the mail! I was very excited. I thought finally they did something to reactivate it. Well I was WRONG. So I contacted support again. This agent was VERY rude and didn't answer any of my questions just kept going around the questions and concerns and never giving me specific answers. After demanding I get an answer before getting off the chat, click I got disconnected! Soooo .... I decided to go BACK on there and try to get another agent and start for the beginning. Meanwhile I did take screenshots to prove all of this!!!! This particular agent said that I was also in good hands and that I need to trust him. Hmmmmmm That he escalated the matter and I just needed to be patient after 4 WEEEEEKSSS of this constant runaround! Needless to say I still have not received any sort of email from them. And my account is STILL not activated!!!!!! So you do the math here,

Then time passed, and my head told me my experience was so horrible that if that was the status quo of how Instacart treated their customers, they wouldn't be in business anymore, so what I experienced had to have been an anomaly. In a moment of weakness (I just wanted some Diet Coke without having to put on real pants for the love of God), my husband used his account to place an order and the Exact. Same. Horrible. Customer. Service. Happened. We're talking exact.

Both times, the shopper made off-the-wall substitutions without reaching out via the chat feature. Both times, I caught the issue and reached out to the shopper via the chat feature to come up with a different solution. Both times, the shopper responded with a question, then left the chat without waiting for an answer--and I was not taking five minutes to reply, we're talking less than a minute passing between the time they asked the question and I answered. Both times we called Instacart Customer Service as the shopper was checking out to say what had happened and to ask that the order not be delivered and that we receive a refund instead. Both times Customer Service could not have cared less and said something along the lines of "this thing just happens."

Both times we have had to go to the store--the very thing we were using Instacart to avoid--to shop for items that their employee was to inept to shop for. Both times we were just fuming, because there is NO WAY we would have used Instacart and paid all of the fees if we'd have known we'd just end up having to go to the store ourselves anyway. I have no idea how they are still in business when they treat their customers this way, but it is no longer my problem, because we've been fooled twice now, and it won't happen a third time.

You do not have to refund my account, that is fine. However, you need to hold the shoppers accountable. They keep bringing expired or nearly-expired items. How should this be rectified and who do I hold accountable for the "unusually-high number" of orders with expired items? This has been almost every order where things are constantly expired. The shoppers pay no attention to my instructions (some do not even want to bring my items upstairs as per my instructions either). I have to do my Thanksgiving order and this is frustrating because I do not want to be left with items I cannot use. This is my money and I spend thousands of dollars here if you look at my order history. If you are implying that as a customer, I am not worthy of obtaining fresh, unexpired items, then I will need to take this matter higher up.

Next steps forward will be...you ensuring that my items are not expired or near expiration (as per my instructions). I am brought overripened fruit as well. Alternatively, if this happens again, I will take pictures, and bag all expired or nearly-expired items and your driver can come back to pick them up immediately. I only shop Instacart because there are not really many options here except Target (SHIPT) but I do not like being forced to only shop at Target. Please advise and also, please provide corporate's phone number and email address, so that when this happens again, I will not complain to you, but to them directly with proof.

Instacart is a bad company. It is a crapshoot when you order using Instacart. In my experience, I estimate that one out of every 12-14 shoppers are enthusiastic and professional. The rest are rude, difficult, argumentative and have horrible attitudes from the get-go. They are unprofessional, ghost you on text messages when you ask questions, substitute your preferred items even though you have checked the "no substitutions" box, make excuses for not getting items you order even though the items are available in the store, (I call to check), and more than once I have had shoppers walk away in the middle of the order, angering the store staff when carts of groceries have been abandoned in the store. As one of the good shoppers told me, "Some shoppers just quit on you."

When you call Instacart to complain or to try to seek a solution, the people are usually nice, although I have gotten some rude ones. However, they have absolutely no authority to do anything. I used them to deliver groceries from my local Kroger. There are two Krogers in my area. One is old, small and often out of products, and the other is new, huge and rarely out of inventory. They are right down the street from each other, no more than a couple of miles. I think they ultimately intend on closing the small, old one, which is why they built a new one almost within walking distance.

In this situation, Instacart defaults on sending their shoppers to the old Kroger even though my profile specifically gives the address of the new Kroger and indicates it is my preferred home store. The Instacart people claim that no one in their company can change where the Instacart app sends the shoppers, because "the system" determines the store. Ask almost any question and you will be told about this all-knowing, all-powerful, autonomous "system" that makes all the decisions and cannot be changed or challenged.

Trying to explain to them that "the system" can do only what a human tells it to do, and that there are people within their company who have the authority to change "the system," is an exercise in futility. They respond as if I am speaking in a language from another planet. And speaking of language, the people with whom you communicate when you call Instacart speak English as a second (or third?) language, so there is always difficulty communicating. I'm not casting aspersions on people who speak English as a second language, only pointing out that communicating is difficult.

What is most frustrating, however, are the shoppers. Rude and unprofessional, they clearly do not approach being an Instacart shopper as a legitimate job. They think nothing of leaving your groceries in the cart and walking off the job. When I have talked to Kroger's staff about the Instacart nightmare, they have expressed their own troubles with the company.

Delivering groceries is a good idea, but Instacart is a bad, bad company. It probably is a process that looks good on paper, but the execution is a nightmare. Success depends on hiring good, responsible people as shoppers as opposed to hiring only people with a pulse, and giving your front-line Instacart customer service representatives at least some authority to effect change.

My advice - don't walk, RUN, from this company. Wait until another company comes in to compete and does it properly. Some young, healthy, aggressive entrepreneur should build a good company to challenge this very bad one. I will never have my groceries delivered by Instacart ever again. I know they deliver in my area for Kroger and Publix, but I want nothing to do with this company.

Since the doorbell doesn’t work, I have a request on each order to place the items in the chair on the porch and knock on the door to let me know when the groceries are there. Many times the shopper never did and all frozen/refrigerated items were ruined. There have also been several times when the shopper has placed the groceries directly in front of my storm door, which opens outward. Overall, this isn’t a major problem, but it is a nuisance when you have to knock all the groceries over onto the porch just to get out of your door.

Even with all these issues, I have continued to use Instacart for one reason. They have been willing to compensate me for most of those problems…. until now. I just received a notice that they will no longer cover their mistakes. With Instacart you pay a $9.99 monthly fee, plus another fee and tip with each order. If paying for a service, we deserve to receive the correct (undamaged) product within the timeframe agreed upon by both parties. I am completely dumbfounded by this company and will be canceling my service.

There tried to scam you into adding a credit card, even I have clearly stated that I am not interested in their service. I am a businessman myself & I understand, every business is out there to make a profit, but I don't like their business model. When the item is on sale, you are not getting the sale price, and on top of that, there has added a fee, on top of what the supermarket is selling them for.

On top of that, none of it was communicated to you & you are paying the delivery guy a nice tip. So your order is like 20-30% on top of what is being sold at the supermarket. I wouldn't have written this review if their free trial ending email reminder is so deceiving. But, there seriously wasted a lot of my precious time, this type of trick didn't get me, but many of our none technical senior may fell into the trap & uploaded their credit card. LASTLY, they will always substitute something MORE expensive than what you originally ordered. Sometimes double or triple the cost. AVOID AT ALL COSTS - HORRIBLE COMPANY. The Shopper takes the wrong item, forgets to bring things, makes a last-minute substitution and then checks out before I can approve it, etc. I have spent hours and hours on the phone with customer service resolving problems with my orders. There is definitely a mismanagement issue, shoppers are not trained, shoppers want to fill as many orders as possible to increase their daily wage at the expense of doing a good job, and inadequate training of the shoppers resulting in issues for the customer. Instacart charges too much money for items to justify the time spent by the customer to fix issues. I'm moving over to Whole Foods, just can't take this anymore. My first experience with Instacart occurred in August, 2020. I used a credit card ending in ** to purchase some items from CVS which were delivered. I did not use them again for anything inasmuch as I have other resources for my shopping assistance. On February 23, 2021 I received an email from Instacart asking me how I "enjoyed" their free Express membership (no delivery charge), and stating that the "free trial Express membership" was going to expire on February 25, 2021, and telling me that (1) my card would be charged $99 for one full year of Express membership services (meaning that would pay no delivery charge on any order for the entire year). The same email went on to say that they had every intention of "automatically" renewing my Express membership on the same card I used on that single purchase I made in August, 2020 on February 25, 2022.

I knew immediately that I was being hustled inasmuch as I had never been given any notice of a "free" Express - no delivery - charge trial. And, of course, I never availed myself of it (assuming that it actually existed in the first place). My first instinct was to call my credit card company and get a new card. But I decided to go ahead and let them charge the $99 figuring that I might get some use out of it.

Well, the first time I attempted to use Instacart Express membership was on August 10, 2021. When I keyed in my order I suddenly got a little pop up on my laptop screen informing me that just for that day - Aug. 10 - that the normal priority delivery charge of $2.00 would be waived. I stupidly took the bait. When I got my purchases I checked over the invoice and discovered that I had been charged for the delivery AND for the priority delivery charge.

I emailed Instacart at their "support" department. I was told that I had a related account, but that I would have to pony up $99 which they so helpfully offered to process. I explained that I had only the ONE SINGLE ACCOUNT with Instacart. Their modus operandi is to jerk you around by making you explain over and over that you only have the one account. When I mentioned the much smaller issue re the $2.00 priority charge - they said unless you can show us PROOF that you got such a pop up -- too bad!

I suspect that Instacart is getting away with this blatant dishonesty because of the horrible pandemic. People are in so much turmoil and there is a need for the service that Instacart provides. I cancelled that credit card so they won't be able to rip me off any further. But I sure wish I had listened to my instincts - and had blocked them from getting their grabby paws on it to the tune of $101!

I choose replacements when I put in the order. If they can’t even find my replacements I have several times had shoppers send me pics to see if I would like something similar they found.

When getting beer I would have to show my license and every shopper has been friendly and masked. When not getting alcohol, I have listed where I prefer them to leave my groceries, they leave them and text me they have delivered before they drive away. Once I got a smaller size of an item, but charged the price of the size I ordered, just had to text, they said they would get back soon and they did and gave me option of refund or credit for next order. Yearly subscription - I paid the $99 for a year so I wouldn't get charged a delivery fee when I used them but the last time I tried to use them they still added on a $5 delivery fee.

Grossly overpriced items - you have to watch closely the items you are buying because they will jack up the price of certain products. For example, I wanted tomatoes and I chose the vine on tomatoes. After I added them to my cart I noticed they were $48 a pound. Not .48 cents a pound but $48. I figured it was a mistake and chose a different tomato. I was going to buy a 30 pack of beer. It usually runs around $25 but instacart was charging $33. A .65 cent can of soup was jacked up to $5. I buy OTC heartburn medication for around $16 for 48 pills. They were charging $26. If I have to actually go shopping myself for certain items because I had to leave them off my cart then I might as well just go do all my shopping myself.

This next issue just flat made me mad. I understand carrying cases of water is hard work and I tip really well for the service. I'm older and my husband is disabled and that's why we were using a shopping service. I always tip fair in the app but then have a $20 bill for them when they arrive. Instacart started charging a heavy lifting fee and it wasn't cheap either. A gallon of milk was considered heavy so was a 64oz. bottle of juice. Just those two items added an additional $6 heavy lifting charge. When adding a case of water, a small watermelon and 30 pack of beer it jumped to nearly $30. Even after I removed all those items from my cart there was still a $2.50 heavy lifting fee. I didn't have anything heavy left. So it was just another way to rob money from you and I doubt the driver would see any of it. So I removed everything and decided not to use them anymore.

And my last issue with them is over trying to get a refund on the subscription fee. I didn't expect the whole $99 back but I was expecting a fair amount since I had only used them a month. The first person I spoke with was through chat and she quoted me a refund of $91. I'm good with that. Two weeks later still no refund in my bank account. So this time I call and the guy tells me he sees I'm being refunded $91 but he can't give me a confirmation number but assures me I'm getting the refund. Here it is another week later and still no refund.

I wanted to use instacart because I wanted shopping options besides just Walmart. But I'm back to Walmart now. The only good thing I have to say about instacart is their drivers were great and I liked that I could chat with them about how I like my bananas and other items. That part was nice but not good enough to keep my business.

I even paid extra for the expedited delivery, and it was LATE. And I tipped $20.00 for the delivery person on the app ahead of time. At least I was able to stop the most recent mistake, which was a bottle of wine 5x the cost of the one I selected that was out of stock, but also not the one I put on the replacement list. I honestly don't know why they bother asking you to select your preference for replacements. The shopper tried to blame the wine mistake on their app. Like most companies, the people on the front line have to take the brunt of the blame. I do believe their app is flawed.

They had to use some confusing app. I was often overcharged. Charged items I didn’t receive. Overcharged on some. Terrible to their delivery people who they tried to blame problems on! Right as the COViD scare broke out they took advantage of these poor girls. This is what I saw, not what they said. They were glad to have a job. One poor girl was in tears. I was there and heard their lies. A year after I cancelled this sloppy service, they tried billing me a renewal fee. Look at their reviews and see how they are manipulated by them to look authentic. They are so bad I pay a friend to shop for me at Publix rather than use Instacart.

I created a curbside pickup on Friday. After seeing a pickup time that was too late I chose Saturday morning. I kept the order PC window open so I could keep updated on that order. The bar never moved! I opened the phone app and window was stuck on a 'we'll notify you' window. Pickup scheduled for 10-11 AM. By 10:45 I went to Aldi and was told by the manager that they haven't had curbside for over a month! And that Instacart does not allow notice on their site. So...there is no way for a customer to know the service does not exist. I consider that a form of fraud. Advertising a service that is not provided. Again, I'm fine with CS but as far as Instacart I will not use unless totally necessary in the future.

When I tried to set up the delivery, I was not able to get it to work so I called the company. They told me that my account was being reviewed (they said it was a routine review) and that I would not be able to use the account until they completed the review in several days. I have never been delinquent in payment and do not know why the review was taking place and I received no notice of the review. I told them I had just had surgery and was relying on them to deliver groceries to me. They refused to fix it so I could order groceries and I ended up having to drive to a grocery store even though I had just had surgery. I use Instacart all the time for work and home. The idea is great but application is kind iffy to say the least. Not once have I ordered and not had to return or replace something. Today I ordered four items - one item did not come in the size advertised in that store, the other was out of stock so I canceled the other two items. In past orders, I've paid for expedited delivery and had shoppers accept my order then later it will be reassigned to someone else and after all that it's no longer expedited and for sure they don't have everything advertised. Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, I've had good luck with Costco orders but Safeway, Metropolitan Market and Fred Meyers is always a crapshoot because you know what is listed online is not what will be available when the shopper goes to shop.

Instacart is ok for fast limited number of goods like Costco, but for other groceries who have long lists of many different types goods like Foodsco, Safeway, and virtually all other supermarkets, Instacart is very unreliable. I ordered specific meat and fish products from Foodsco's website twice and twice, the shoppers said they weren't available even though they were stated as available on the websites. My main reasons for shopping at these places were for those 2 items. I would also be given other items that were replacement/substitutions and/or unavailable.

When I compare Amazon Fresh to Instacart, Amazon Fresh is a much better food delivery service vs Instacart. Virtually everything on Amazon Fresh's website is available. I rarely get replacements/substitutions at Amazon Fresh. Their product list may not be as vast as the other supermarkets, but their food delivery service is reliable and I never need to speak to the shopper about replacements or unavailability. For Instacart, the integration between the websites, the groceries product updates, and impatient shoppers (who have very little knowledge of the supermarkets) is very badly coordinated. When I tried to get my refunds, Instacart was difficult to reach and very hard to deal with when I complained to my bank.

And the app shows no batches NOW well after contacting them without any help, answer or no solution. I start doing my own research I found out that the orders has been sold to those who using BOT so they steal. Legit shoppers batches and they go to another shopper who paid for the Bot. They then have their family and friends help them. So they send them to go deliver the orders and they move on to the next order.

They are making $2,000 per a day and I can't understand why their account hasn't been flagged by the company. Since the company is still making money they don't care that they have put their honest loyal shoppers out of work. And their putting their shoppers at risk, some of the people going to customer homes are undocumented immigrants that are criminals.

And my biggest fear is for seniors and children who are the most vulnerable. Yes I am upset for the financial lost, but more importantly I fear for seniors who are so vulnerable as well as children who's home alone sometimes. This is not good and I hope no one has to die for someone to check into into this or this because news. If they can still orders they also can steal customer banking information. Instacart is a good idea, but the actual product is lacking in many ways. Both the desktop and mobile apps are clumsy. It takes far too many clicks to reach your goal; it's cumbersome to choose replacement items or to designate them as no substitute and limits on choices for replacements is illogical; rating a shopping experience also doesn't allow you to be specific unless you file a complaint. If you are a choosy shopper, it definitely won't save you any time. There are so many fees, and most items are up-priced, so it's hard to know what the actual cost of the service is. They also put a generous hold on your account when you complete an order, so it requires a lot of checking and follow-up to be sure the final charge is accurate.

The style and quality of the shoppers is fairly broad, and although I have been using them for a while, I don't think I have ever had the same shopper twice. Some of them wait until checking out to tell you about replacements or refunds - so you get no choice to make a change. Some of them work harder at finding your items. I find it's best to begin a chat with the shopper as soon as they begin shopping, if I want them to follow my instructions.

Again, if you buy unusual items like organic, or imported, or if you are particular about sell-by dates on fresh food and produce, it takes extra attention to the shopper, or it's possible you will be disappointed. Since you don't build a relationship with any shoppers, they are not very invested in getting it right, except for your review after delivery. I had a recent order where all 4 dozen of my eggs had a sell-by date that was 'today'.

Feedback I have given to the company is always met with politely, but they put a lot of burden (blame) on the merchants, and they don't seem interested in improving the functionality of the apps. I'm sure that the pandemic helped them grow, tremendously. Maybe now that it's over, they will start to pay attention to the quality. Bottom line - I'd rather shop myself. I use this service because I cannot do that and I already paid the annual membership.

Have had two bad experiences with Instacart. The first was a delivery from Publix that contained chilled and frozen contents that had melted or warmed up beyond 60 degrees. My loss on that was over $20.00 and was only compensated for $9.50. Ice Cream, Milk, and ground meat were lost in that debacle. But today (12 Jun 21) they somehow topped it. I had a delivery scheduled for Noon to 2, and got a text at 1158 that they were shopping the order. At 1445 I contacted Instacart via chat, and got the run around for about 5 minutes. I had my order page open and the scheduled delivery was Jun 12 Noon-2.

During this chat, the Instacart employee CHANGED THE DATE and proceeded to blame me for the mix up. After I verified the store number and address, refused the insulting $5 offer, I refreshed my cart webpage and saw the date had been changed. I clicked the back button and sure enough, the prior page showed the 12th (Thanks Google Chrome!) I asked if the delivery would be made by 5PM, and that is when this Instacart employee began to make statements that I had made the 14th date. At this point I canceled the order from the webpage, and ended the conversation.

I contacted the Publix store and notified them of this treatment and this is when I learned that Publix has nothing to do with the shopping, followed up with Instacart via phone to verify this and lodged two complaints, and will be contacting Publix Corporate next week. The manager I talked to at Publix also told me that Instacart shoppers shop as many as 8 orders at one time. Hence the reason my earlier order had thawed frozen items and ruined meat. THAT COULD POTENTIALLY KILL SOMEONE!

I was not notified at any point that the delivery would be late or rescheduled for another day. I was treated by the Instacart employee over chat with willful disrespect. The person I talked to on the phone was very interested in the way I was treated, but had no way to help me. Never again will I utilize Instacart, and I suggest you never use them either.

Today it's that for a month I am to be charged no delivery fees but lo and behold there they are two of them then God knows this time if they will bring me all of the items I have listed and they are a very poor excuse of a delivery company.

For those of us on limited income who are seniors who do not drive it's a real pain to have to do this as they do not care what they put in the cart so long as it's the number of items and the shoppers are not very good shopping for several customers at the same time. Last time I dealt with them I canceled the order and back came a text asking the entire order. I stated it 3 times in the hope the person would get the idea it's canceled. Duh what part of cancel the order does the person not understand. Person has not started yet shopping but I expect there will be problems.

I have not had this problem with other companies. This one is a disaster. I have ordered 6 items today and we will see how many of them I do receive if any. One time with Aldi the store. Also today the shopper canceled the order on his own merit because he had car problems instead of turning it over to another shopper. I am forced to use them because I like Aldi and they are only one at this time who shops for home bound people like me.

We’re in the middle of a pandemic and you people can’t even reach out to us to get the full story. You just deactivated and ignore us! Truly sickening and disgraceful. We always spoke so highly of instacart but now I will make sure to never recommend instacart to any one of my friends and family! A representative just told me another lie that the account can’t be reactivated once it’s deactivated! That it’s reached the final stages which is a lie because it has we’ve researched reviews where accounts have been reactivated before.

Yesterday, I placed an order and received ground turkey and sour cream that had been marked down on clearance because the expiration was approaching. I was charged the regular price, so obviously this company is not charging the actual sale price of the item from the store, but not disclosing this anywhere. Today, I received an app notification today for a promotional $30 off of an annual express membership. I "clicked" on the notification to follow the link but it took me to the sign up page with no discount applied.

Since the notification was now cleared from my phone, I contacted customer service to assist. Three different chat support CSRs repeatedly asked me for a screenshot which I obviously couldn't supply. They then said they'd look into a solution but after minutes of waiting they "hung up" on me by ending the chat. I wasted over an hour of my morning just trying to GIVE THEM MONEY! I hate to think of what happens to people who are over-charged. I have no way to reach anyone in the US with any actual knowledge or authority so I guess I'll just give up and find a company that actually wants my business.

I have to wait 5-10 business days for a full refund when they took money from my account as soon as I made the orders I never received. I have had to use Instacart a lot since the start of the pandemic. I look forward to going back to in-person shopping. While Instacart is convenient, almost every time I have shopped, I either got an item I didn't ask for (as in, someone else requested the item and it was given to me by mistake) or one of my items was missing. Also, the shoppers substitute my requested items with items I didn't approve of and didn't want. I have complained to customer service and gotten refunds, but they never mark down my complaints, so the mistakes keep happening. The service is too expensive to be this dysfunctional.

Shoppers: either stop shopping for multiple customers or pay attention to what each customer orders to make sure the right items are in each bag. Instacart: have a better customer complaint system that actually records the customer's complaints and implements changes so that the mistakes are not repeated. Finally, please do something about your ID system to make it no-contact. I understand California requires a show of ID every time you purchase alcohol, but there should be a way to do it so that you don't have to be in physical contact with the shopper.

I just posted a review of their service on their page and they promptly deleted it. My review detailed how we've had many negative issues with their employees in the past of stating that the groceries we ordered were out of stock or did not exist. Tonight was the final straw for me... After the umpteenth time that we had this issue, I finally decided to handle it myself. About 20 minutes after we had our groceries delivered, I went to the store to verify that the items the employee said were missing/out of stock were indeed not there. As expected, I found ALL of the items that were claimed to be gone (and it wasn't just one or two items that they said were out of stock, but an entire list).

A couple of examples- employee said that the toilet paper we ordered was out of stock- there was literally an ENTIRE PALLET of the toilet paper there.... not in some obscure place, but right there... on the toilet paper aisle, with all of the other bathroom tissue. Another example- the employee said that the store had a sale with their strawberries at 99 cents and they were cleaned out and completely out of them. When I arrived, not only did the employee lie about the price on the strawberries, but I found TWO ENTIRE DISPLAYS of them. The first one was obviously picked over some (but there were plenty of strawberry packs still available for sure), but the second one was COMPLETELY FULL. Again... not in some obscure location, but right there in the produce section... with all of the other produce.

I called the customer support line to express my grievances at 888-246-7822. I normally don't write negative reviews because I get it... that sometimes things happen or perhaps they hired the wrong employee. But when we've had so many issues all with the same problems, it is clearly not just an employee issue- it is a company issue... from the way the company is organized, how they train their employees, or how they manage those employees. Blaming the worker only works for so long... but after so many negative experiences, this is definitely a company problem. And the fact that they removed my review immediately, tells me that this company is in fact entirely trash and lacks integrity and transparency.

I started using Instacart shortly after the pandemic started (about April 2020). I read the pricing policy as directed by them when I pointed out the glaring difference between their receipt and the paper receipt. Essentially what they're telling me is that an Instacart shopper can use a Plus Card from Kroger and get the discounts, but I can't. This I already knew from previous experience.

My question is, when they're ripping me off for, in this case, the $19.45 difference between the Instacart receipt and the paper receipt, who is pocketing that money? I mean, with all of the other fees and tips out of me - which apparently aren't ripping me off enough, where does THIS money go? Believe me, now that I KNOW they are ripping me off like this, in a time where deciding to eat or pay the rent is in question, it may be a cold day in hell before I use the service again. I am seriously distressed by this and I intend, wherever and whenever possible, to leave reviews regarding this and for the buyers to beware of what is really going on out there. This is reprehensible.

They pocketed the tax which is based on a percentage spent, they did not reduce the tip (which is a percentage of the total so obviously that should have decreased) and their service fee which is always 5% of what I’ve spent on past orders. They tried to explain what the service fee was for which doesn’t matter when it’s computed on a percentage of the total purchased. They lied and said the tax was refunded so, I did the math for them and they still maintained it was refunded. I’ll be reporting that to the appropriate entity. They refused to refund a mere $5.14 and opted to lose a customer that has been loyal throughout the pandemic spending almost 600.00 (which is a drop in the bucket for them but a ton of money for me). I have used InstaCart a number of times since signing up two or three months ago. The experience has been a mixed bag, but good enough and convenient enough that I have stayed with it. Until now. PROS: Generally workable website; efficient and timely shoppers; unfailingly polite online customer service with mostly good follow-through (until now). When there has been an issue with the shopper's product selection, I have considered it a part of my own learning curve to explain more explicitly in my order what I do and do not want, regarding both products and prices. And the one time a shopper ignored my "do not substitute" instruction, InstaCart was more than fair in refunding me.

CONS: (1) Lots of mostly minor issues with the website experience, but the number and variety suggest a site still in beta test status and a company expecting unannounced and uncompensated beta test services from customers who encounter these issues. I was very surprised to learn later they have been in business at least a couple of years and don't yet have these things worked out. (2) Shortly after allowing my Express arrangement to lapse I received an offer for 2 months free Express when signing up for it with a MasterCard (had been using Visa). Went through the sign-up and received an on-line confirmation--but somehow the account did not get set up.

Have now been through more than a dozen on-line communications with "customer service" and am getting nothing but an ever-so-polite runaround, basically having general policies of various sorts quoted at me rather than any attempt to address the issue itself. From the types of responses and the unusual names of many of the reps, it appears the nightmare of off-shored customer service is not yet over. If anyone at InstaCart--other than another "customer service" rep--is reading this, what is needed to make this even partly right is for you to honor the MasterCard offer.

After having paid their insane fees, and having been told SO many items they said were in stock, that they were not-my last order with them contained 12 items, of which I received 3. I had ordered from a certain market that specializes in healthy foods. Since, I was becoming a non believer, I went to this market to chat with their manager, and look to see if indeed those foods were out of stock-they were all available. Further this manager told me they had stopped service with Instacart 2 weeks earlier, because of this exact same thing, yet I had just received 3 items (of 12) from the that morning.

When I told her that she said, "Oh no, they aren't even allowed in here, what must have happened was that they come in without any documentation, just dressed as anyone else would, and shop on their own, pay and leave. Then they not only mark up each item, but that food is no longer protected from being eaten, disturbed or otherwise messed with, and on top of that they get a delivery fee and tip, often coming to a big 20 dollars more for their service in total." I was shocked to hear that all of this was true, she affirmed it, she was very believable.

So I called Instacart and told them that since this store had barred them, I wanted to know where my food came from, and their only answer was that store, when asked to prove it, they just repeated that answer-they were then reported to the Board of Health, as the unauthorized marketing for food, the unscrutinized driving, and the possibility that the food may have been opened, eaten, or in any other way "messed with" as she had said, was now no longer protected, or insured. The report should go a long way to stopping this monopoly of a company from hurting so many, in a time when so few, have resources-in fact during this Pandemic, this type of behavior is appalling. If I could give less than one star I would. I've been a user for about three years now I think? Maybe a little longer. This service was recommended to me because I'm currently disabled. I am fighting Lyme and Babesia Disease. I can't always leave the house and need help getting my groceries. In the beginning I would get a correct order in under an hour. Now, forget about even getting it in the standard 2 hours, much less getting the correct order. They just can't keep employees.

Today, I ordered from Albertsons and Sprouts, different items, of course. Both orders today were wrong. The first, I asked for 10lbs of meat to be wrapped in 2lb increments. Just like I do every single week. The recipe calls for exactly 2lbs of ground beef, and it's easy for the butcher to weigh and package it. I got two 5 lb slabs of meat. Not helpful. At all. I had to buy a food scale in order to be able to divide it into 2 lb increments. Yes, I called and complained. Yes, they refunded the amount of meat, which is great. But I would rather have correct orders.

Second order, I asked for one FULL bunch of bananas and three ORGANIC avocados. I got one single measly banana and three regular avocados, in which I have to go back tomorrow and exchange. Still waiting for a refund on these items. I don't think they have ever delivered a cantaloupe without damaging it. I even had two different shoppers just put groceries on my doorstep and walk away. No knock, nothing. Just dropped them off and left. It's a good thing that I was watching or I would have never known my ice and other perishables were sitting in the elements.

This isn't all. There are plenty of site issues. Want to try one item just to see if you like it? Be aware, it will be in "your items" forever. No way of removing it. There is no delete button. Once you buy it, you will have to look at in your items for the rest of your life. Even if you hated it. No matter what. I have more items than I can count just loitering in my item section because they didn't feel the need to allow us to remove / delete items. You can delete a facebook post, but you can't delete items from "your items."

If you would like to see a picture for every single item before you buy it, forget it. So many missing photos. Hundreds. Maybe thousands. They also don't update photos. Oh, and they don't even list all items. Ex: Sprouts carries Boiron homeopathics. They are not all listed. That's one small item, but there are dozens more that I know of. Seasonal items? Yeah, those are not listed at all. This may not be a big deal to most and that's ok, but for me, and for those that literally can't get to the store, it matters. I like others would like to purchase season holiday items. Household items, those are not all listed either. It's a toss up, you just never know what you will be able to find.

Did you know that you have to fight to get the receipt that you paid for? Yep, Instacart withholds those from you. Shoppers have bags and bags of them, Instacart never asks for them, but they also don't want you to have them. Know why? Different prices! Yep, you read that correctly. Last Christmas I was talking to a shopper, she told me all about it and the fact that they don't even give their shoppers their tips until the end of the year! Please, if you are going to attempt to use this company, please tip your shopper with cash. The website will force you to give a tip. Yeah, that happens too. So even if you had horrible service, it forces you to tip. Even if you want to give them a cash tip, it still asks for a tip.

I could go on and on. Instacart is an impossible company to work with. Regardless of how many times I call in or write in with complaints, regardless of how many refunds the offer, it's only getting worse. Way worse. There just shouldn't be this many problems. It's obvious they are not training their shoppers successfully. It's obvious they are not paying them enough to do the job. There have been many times where they have told me they don't have any shoppers for that day at all. How is that even possible if they are an upstanding company that takes care of their employees?

If one has to call or write in once per month because of bad service, that's too many times. I get it. Life is tough. I'm a business owner as well and sometimes no matter what you do you can't make someone happy. But this isn't that. This is just a terrible company. I have no problem doubling the suggested tip when I get good service. But that's pretty rare.

Seriously. Every single month it just gets worse. I've had it. I'm pulling my membership and will just go out and do my own shopping. This is unacceptable. Absolutely no excuse for continually terrible service. This company needs new ownership and a complete overhaul. Don't believe me, just ask the shoppers. They are all too happy to share stories about this company.

8/22/2020: I first contacted Instacart about a full refund on 7/22/2020, the same day the order was placed, and they finally responded today that it was "too late." The reason for the full refund is based on an emotionally abusive encounter with the driver over items the driver picked to replace items that were out of stock. The substitutions were unauthorized and the driver refused to take them back. (The driver probably thought she could get away with it because the customer is an elder/senior citizen.) The driver was mean and intimidating and showed a lack of respect or deference to the customer. The customer refused delivery on the entire order, but the driver refused to take it back. Also, although all of the text conversations were documented on Instacart’s order page, they were not considered by Instacart, and the full refund was refused.

Instacart has responded to my concerns and have fully resolved the issues at hand to satisfaction. I'm very pleased! I’m grateful for my parents as they will feel secure continuing to use instacart as they were hoping since their service enables them to stay safely at home during this pandemic.

Be careful if you are using Instacart. Ordering is easy but customer service has proved to be less than efficient and helpful. Because of COVID-19 I started ordering my parents who are over 65 with health issues, groceries through instacart. It was going great. I eventually was able to talk my dad through the process so he could do the orders himself, and that was going well until last week. He put in a nice order and received delivery through instacart. But then 20 minutes later another person showed up with the same order. My parents, being kind and feeling bad for the girl delivering who informed them the groceries couldn’t be refunded, which of course is understandable, let her leave the groceries.

My father never got an alert about the second order that it was being shopped or questions, or that it was on its way. This is where there’s a problem. My dad called to inform instacart there must be a mistake because they just received the same order twice and the customer service personnel was very nice and put him on hold a few times but then told him, "I’m sorry. Groceries can’t be returned. There’s nothing we can do." My father was charged twice!!

This is my problem... 1) How did a duplicate order go through? How did no one at instacart catch that and call my father to question the second order? 2) Then when my father tries to reach out and resolve the issue he gets a “sorry we can’t do anything” response? They are on a fixed income. And I’m seriously upset with instacart's poor customer service.
