I've been eating at Denny's for over 15 years. The customer service there has continue to get worse and worse every year. It just doesn't stop with the customer service, the quality of food and messing up orders then copping attitudes about it. I've been to Denny's from St. Petersburg all the way to Port Richie and from Port Richie to Wesley Chapel in Wesley Chapel to Tampa. This is not about one location, it's about all of them. Most of them smell dirty and look dirty. It's really sad that a place I use to eat at several times a day I cannot stomach going there or even looking at the sign. Even the Denny's in Abilene, Texas. I will never patronize Denny's again no matter the response to this post. It's too late to try and make it up to the consumers you have not taken care of all these years.

After so many years of not eating in Denny's, me and my son decided to go in to the Sunny Isles location. It took a long time before someone notice us and came to take our order, then we had to wait a long while for our food to come out. Any of that did not made us mad but when we finished and paid, we walked to the car. To our surprise a note was glued to your window saying that "Next time this car will be towed away". I went back to the restaurant and ask why they posted this on my car? The manager by name Lorena told me that she saw my car parked there too long. What? Too long? Is it my fault that they are so slow? Now there is a limit of time? She even did not apologize. Please, this is the last time I will ever go to this restaurant no matter which location and I will never recommend this restaurant to any of my family, clients and all. Please save your money and go to a place that will appreciate you as a client.

This is one of the friendliest Denny's I have visited. I did not expect first class service from a diner that close to downtown San Jose, CA. It stands out in the neighborhood because the grounds were immaculate, looked freshly painted on the outside, and a very friendly man I came to know as Merced stopped cleaning for a moment to open the door for me. I was greeted by every waitstaff person I passed with a warm friendly smile and it was 5 a.m. No one is that cheerful at that time of day. I had been there before and the waitress recognized me and offered me tea. She remembered that I wasn't a coffee person! She took my order and the food was served promptly and still hot. Large portions and it tasted fresh. I came back because I received great service the last time I visited from a guy named Alonzo but he had to be the manager because he really knew his stuff and seemed to be in-charge. I strongly recommend this Denny's to anyone looking for a great breakfast spot in San Jose; they have a lot of healthy choices on the menu, the food is good and fresh, and the service is outstanding.

I visited the Denny's Restaurant in Carbondale, IL on July 1, 2014. The number of flies in that restaurant was a disgrace! I had ordered a nice meal, which I couldn't even eat, due to the flies bothering me. I had decided to box up my meal, and take it home. I was drinking a glass of tea. I turned the glass to the side, and found a dead fly floating in it! I took the meal, and the glass, to the front counter. I refused to pay for the meal, and showed the checkout person the glass. She sent for the manager, who said, "We're going to be spraying for flies, tonight," and offered me something in exchange for my bad experience. I told him how disgusted I was, and that I would not be eating there, again. I left, and promptly called the county health department! Besides this, their service is bad, too, especially at night. I have been left sitting for almost ten minutes, without so much as a water glass, or utensils, on the table. I am so done with this place!

My family and i have been going to this Denny's for years. Earlier this morning my husband went to Denny's with his friends to eat and the service of the cashier was HORRIBLE. My husband decided to order a milkshake for me while he was checking out and when the cashier gave him the milkshake my husband had advised her that it is a way smaller size and he was wondering did they switch the cups or something. The cashier immediately became defensive and argumentative and kept stating that that's the only size they ever had. My husband advised her that we order strawberry milkshakes from Denny's on a regular basis and we have never received this size. The cashier was talked to by someone who worked at Denny's and then the cashier went to the back and brought forth another cup that led my husband to believe it had the contents of the strawberry milkshake in it.

To top it off, they didn't even give him a military discount for the meal he paid for. Well, as soon as my husband got home I began to drink the milk shake and I immediately noticed the taste did not even taste like something you're supposed to be drinking. It tasted like cleaning fluid and the smell was like Ajax. A couple minutes later my throat started hurting and it has not gotten any better.

I have decided I'm going to the doctor first thing Monday morning to have my doctor check to see what's going on especially since now my throat is swollen. I also want to have the contents of the milkshake tested to see what in fact was placed into my milkshake besides the normal content. I have contacted the general manager of the Denny's establishment and he stated he will review the cameras to see if any foul play was involved. I'm HIGHLY upset at the situation because my family and I LOVE going to Denny's and we have ordered the same thing for years and now I will never look at this location the same.

I went to this Denny's with my wife around noon today - 6/23/14. We were seated, then the server came and asked about drinks. We asked for water. She came after 10 min. to serve water. Then she asked about our order. My wife ordered an ice cream and I ordered a "create your own burger". I opted for Veggie burger and the toppings and cheese and Chipotle sauce. I asked her if she would like to write it down, to which the server replied - "I will remember". 35 minutes later she comes with a burger which she initially tells me is a veggie burger but then she realized it was turkey and so she picked it up and went back to order me another one. She came back with another burger 10 min. back which was a veggie burger.

Halfway through the burger, I found pieces of meat (it was Ham, per the server herself). I called her and she said it was not her fault and took off. We stood up by this time and went to the cash counter where the manager said 2 lines to me - "I took care of your order. I apologize". I don't know what to say to these people who are arrogant, plain stupid and don't know an iota of customer service. I was at the same Denny's 6 months back and was served a meat burger when I had ordered a veggie burger. That time the same store manager shouted at me for showing my discontent. I'm vegetarian but I don't think they care about anyone's personal beliefs. I felt long time back that this restaurant should close but it's still going and still the same.

My husband and I went onto the Denny's in Indio, Ca. We were seated within 2 minutes. We have been to this Denny's before. At times the waitresses have been rude but the food is good. My husband ordered decaf coffee as did I. We were served our drinks within 5 min. The waitress took our order, I got the Grand Slam from the 2, 4, 6, 8 menu. My husband ordered the Santa Fe skillet with avocados. While talking to my husband, I realized I was missing my orange juice that comes with the meal. I asked, looked for the waitress and had to wait 7 min. for her to appear. She brought my juice and left.

I was cutting my pancakes, as I looked up I saw a cockroach walking across the wall behind my husband. I was so disgusted. The table next to us said "Eeww, a cockroach." Another waitress came by, ask what was going on and the table next to us said there was a cockroach. The waitress grabbed a receipt and smashed the roach. Not a word was said to us, like nothing had happened. We got up, without finishing my food and went to the cashier. I asked for the manager, he appeared quickly. I mentioned what had happened. He said he would take care of the bill and for us to please come back. I will never go back. If the roaches are in the dining area, I can only imagine how infested the kitchen is. Gross.

I went to the Denny's at 1610 South Harbor Anaheim California. I finally got served and I ordered the BYO Slam breakfast and coffee with whole wheat toast dry no butter. The waitress brought the coffee. I noticed the cup was dirty with left over eggs on the side of the cup. Waited for the waitress to appear again then called her over and asked for a clean cup of coffee. She finally brought one back then came my breakfast. She left and then I noticed the toast had butter on it. Could not see my waitress after 5 minutes, I motioned to the lady at the checkout; she never came over to me just asked what I needed.

I told her she got the attention from another person, waiter this time and he came over and I explained to him about the toast. He took the toast away and was supposed to bring me the correct order of toast. 16 minutes later my waitress brings the toast it was not even toasted it was just heated bread. I told her that she offered to bring it back, I told her no. It would have taken another 15 minutes to get new toast. I asked for another cup of coffee. I should have never had to ask, they are to ask me if I need a refill. She brought the coffee and then left the coffee. The coffee was like warm not even hot. I was going to ask my waitress to bring me a hot cup of coffee but she never appeared again.

Finally I went to the cashier to pay my bill, she asked for my receipt. I told her my waitress disappeared she never came back. The cashier asked me three times where I sat. Finally she asked me what I had and I told her. I never ever complained about a restaurant before and I have eaten at many Denny's before this was the worst I have ever experienced. Will never eat at this restaurant ever again. Very disappointed all I wanted was a nice hot cup of coffee and a hot breakfast, I got neither of that. I have never walked out of a restaurant without tipping a waitress, this time I did.

My friend and her daughter, 10 years old, were having lunch at Denny's and we had to sit through customers from two different tables using curse words that were loud enough that I know the waitresses heard them but just didn't bother saying anything. Later when I mentioned this to a waitress in private, I was told I'd have to complain to the manager... who of course wasn't there at the time... and besides, why should I have to complain to anyone being that Denny's is supposedly considered a family restaurant to begin with?

After this incident, I began to hang at this Denny's once in a while both day and night to get a feel if this was an ongoing thing and it definitely is. Problem is that nobody complains anymore for some reason. Every afternoon for a week that I went there, plenty of customers in the afternoon and language that waitresses clearly overheard yet said nothing. This went on as well at even and later hours, bar rushes were just plain embarrassing too much to state here. I would NEVER TAKE MY OWN KIDS THERE... Denny's is called a family restaurant. Why??? Remind me.

And, for the record, the family are not easy customers, most have worked in restaurants and know what is good and what is not. This Denny's is always spot on, highly recommended.

I looked and to my dismay his hamburger which was about a half pound piece of meat was completely raw in the middle, some brown on outside. I asked for manager, he said sorry and asked me if we wanted another. I said heck no I want to make a complaint. I called on the complaint line and left a message, I was called back by a guy who did not respond to my questions, many quiet moments as I raised my dislike to what they served my son. He asked me what he could do and said that they were gonna retrain their cooks, how can I prove that that has happened. He said what else can I do and I said I don't know, you might need to talk to your bosses and let me know, he never called back. I never got a discount on my meal, my party spent over $100.00. I am horrified to think this might happen to another family where their child get E. coli or something worse. Please contact me if you feel that there are avenues we can go. The Denny's restaurant in Alamogordo, New Mexico was a huge letdown. I took my son there for his birthday a few months ago. It was after 7:00 in the evening, the restaurant was nearly empty. We got a window table and ordered. My birthday boy ordered his free birthday slam breakfast. My other son ordered a nachos and I ordered a 3-course skillet meal.

To begin with, the waitress got my order wrong every step of the way. I did not get my salad as the first course, I was brought my skillet, and had to request my salad which is part of the meal and supposed to be brought first. The waitress was busy gossiping with the other waitresses behind the counter and it took some work to get her attention. I got a limp, wilted salad poured from a bag onto my plate. It was not very appetizing at all. The iced tea my son ordered looked murky. Really, Denny's should use purified water and not filthy tap water. His nachos was an extremely small portion and I gave him food off my plate. We had been done eating for a long time and the waitress never brought my dessert and my son had to get up and go request my pie I had ordered. I got my pecan pie and it was horrible, so hard I could not eat it. I would guess it had been sitting out for days to be so dehydrated, I had to take it home to the dogs.

Now, overall this was a poor experience already. Our waitress was inattentive, got my order wrong on multiple levels, the food was poor quality to the point of some of it was inedible. She brought our ticket. I got out my debit card. At which point the awful woman had the nerve to ask if I was putting a tip on that. Obviously the lazy, poor mannered woman serving up bad food deserved no tip at all. But I told her to put a few dollars on as her tip. At which point she got this look on her face... as if she wanted a much bigger tip. My kids and I were extremely disappointed in the service, quality, and food of Denny's. I went home and the next day went to the website and filed a complaint. I got an email back from corporate, apologizing, and was offered a 15 percent discount on my next visit. But I never want to go back again... why would we? I can make better food at home in a better environment. It was my birthday recently and even with the free slam breakfast I could not be lured in. I will never eat at this Denny's again.

The manager of this Denny's needs to work over the entire restaurant. Staff should be trained and watched over for their efficiency and courtesy. Food should be checked for freshness and quality. As it is, it is a horrible failure.

On October 1, 2013, we arrived at Denny's in National City off Sweetwater Road at approximately 4:40 p.m. and were seated within 5 minutes after arrival. There wasn't that many people in the restaurant, so we thought we'd get helped in a timely manner (total misconception)! It wasn't until 5:05 p.m. that someone approached us to take our drink order drinks! We asked to have 3 cupcake cups for the kids' drinks and they didn't have any in stock... So why promote items you're out of?? Doesn't make sense.

We thought, maybe they were a little behind. She (waitress wasn't wearing a name tag) came back after 15 minutes with water and an incomplete drink order. We sent her back for the drinks she forgot, came back and still forgot to bring a drink to the table. We thought, "Oh this is not going to be good." After bringing our last drink she decided to take our order.

She took our order and we waited, and waited and waited and waited until at approximately 6:15 p.m. we got up went to the front counter and asked to speak to the manager or the supervisor in charge. I asked her to ring me up for the drinks that were served and to let her know that, that had been the worst experience we had ever gone through in that restaurant, by far. We told her that we had waited a little over 45 minutes for our food to arrive and nothing arrived. What got me was that no one once came up to us and advised us that the food was on its way or that maybe the cook had collapsed, whatever excuse she could have come up with, nothing!!!! While we waited there were two other parties that walked out as well, because no one had approached them to even take down their drink order.

While I was complaining to the supervisor in charge, the no name waitress had the audacity to approach her and told the supervisor in Spanish, "Ay que esta pasando?? Ya ibamos a llevarle su comida??!! (with disdain)" Translated to: "Ugh, what's going on!?! The order was just about to come out to them," and I responded to the waitress, "Yeah, okay but we have been waiting for long time for our order and you haven't had the decency to come up to us, to ask or tell us any reason as to why it was taking so long, didn't even come to the table to offer refills on our drinks, nothing. Nothing was said to us and that is why we are leaving!" No name made a face and walked into the kitchen to bad mouth us with the cook telling him we were leaving. That made me angry because she could have waited till we walked out the door. I will not set one foot at that Denny's ever again. Worst service I have ever encountered. We left and decided to eat elsewhere!!!

On April 21st, after going to the Kansas City Golden Gloves and volunteering to work as an official for the kids, I was driving back to Springfield, Missouri. I saw a nice looking little Denny's in Peculiar, MO. I am a 100% disabled Veteran, and I had my family with me. I thought that since I needed to take my medication, this would be a good place to eat! Wrong! I ordered steak and eggs. Four people came in after us, and they received their food. Forty-five minutes had passed and my wife was getting frustrated. I was trying to be patient. Finally, I got up, went to the counter and asked, "How much longer will it be?" Our waitress got very smart with me and told me, "You ordered a steak and that takes time, it's your fault!”

I turned to what I thought was the manager, and I tried to explain the situation. She told me, with a very angry voice, “We are busy today. Step away from the counter.” Well, with this attitude from the staff, of course I got pissed off! I said I have never been treated with such racism in a restaurant, and given that I was a 100% disabled Veteran, I did not appreciate such poor service and uncalled for treatment. Then I was asked to leave. Well, I have to admit that did it. First, you try to make it look like it's my fault you have not served my breakfast yet, then you act like you flat out do not care, and that I do not have the right to complain to anyone! After a few choice words from me and some woman who worked there, I left the restaurant. The lady behind the counter had called the police, of course, because everyone gets nervous if a ** man gets upset when he is mistreated.

It's a shame this being 2013. The police came, and I explained my situation inside the restaurant. The police man apologized to me and told me that unfortunately, this was a small town outside of Kansas City and that it was not very diversified; he understood my position totally. I was asked not to return to that Denny's. I assured them that I had no intention of ever returning to that racist ** Denny's period, and that I would contact corporate and file a complaint! I have never, ever played the race card in my life! I am mixed. I have been a soldier, police officer, and worked as a supervisor for BNSF Railroad. I have never had to play the race card, but this is one time that I felt totally discriminated against and if it was a ** person that had been treated that way in a restaurant, nobody would have sided with the people in the restaurant! What happened to the days when customers were to be treated with respect and made to feel comfortable when they stopped to dine at your establishment? What happened to listening and acting like you cared if a customer had a complaint?

This place totally did not care and was way out of line in my opinion. Anybody who is sensible would feel the same way. The police officer was an ex-military man, and he and his fellow officers that showed up apologized to me. They admitted that the Denny's has been known to be a little racist towards **, and brushed it off with that old ** saying that it's small town, and that there are hardly any families other than ** living there. Excuse me, is this not 2013 or am I back in the 1950's? I mean, I did not want to even hear that crap after serving combat tours for this country and surviving, and then losing a $100,000 a year job with the railroad because of my combat related injuries for this country. I feel like this Denny's needs to be reprimanded and that their employees need to all be made to go to diversity training on a monthly basis. I am a very upset Veteran!

The manager said that we are not allowed to be seated unless all parties are here! I asked the manager if we could please sit, and if we can order drinks, and that we have waited like everyone else. He said no! Manager Von continued to call out other names, and I approached the hostess to say, “This is unfair! May we please be seated?” And the manager said to me, "If you don't like our policies, you can leave!”

My father arrived and watched what was happening and said to manager this is not right. The manager said to my father "You don't like our policy, you can leave!" The hostess and a few servers apologized to us as we were leaving! We have been coming to this Denny's for years and have never been told of this policy! We walked out of the restaurant shocked and embarrassed of what had happened, and how we were treated by the manager! This manager named Von is so unprofessional, has absolutely zero customer service skills, and has no business working in a restaurant with the public! Fact: this restaurant has only tables for four people or more! They had booths that seat four and tables with 4 chairs! It would not have made a huge difference where we were seated! My 26-year-old son has been a Type 1 diabetic for 15 years. He loves Denny's, as we all do, and he especially likes it as his vegan requests are always granted. Last week, he and his fiancee were having dinner in Denny's in Enfield, CT when they realized his blood sugar was dropping drastically and he needed sugar yesterday! They asked for their drinks the second a waitress appeared and told her why. She then left and didn't come anywhere near them for 10-15 min. and my son was fading fast. He started eating the jellies on the table, then a handful of sugar packs. Soon, that was all gone and still no drinks!

His fiancee yelled for the waitress to please hurry and get him his juice as by now he didn't even know where he was. Without rushing, the waitress finally got his juice and he drank it all immediately. However, his sugar had dropped so very low during the delay that he then spoke stiltedly to his fiancee that he wasn't there, with a blank look. He was seconds from having a full blown seizure, so his fiancee got up, found the waitress and said that he needed more juice now, again! She seemed rather unconcerned when she brought it.

By now, his fiancee was crying out of fear and worry because no one in the place was offering any help! Finally, he began to come back (he knew where he was and who she was and some of what was happening). When the waitress came to take their order, she told him, "Well, maybe if you had ordered a big meal like a burger and fries and not the healthy meal you asked for, this might not have happened"! Seriously?

My son is pretty easy going and tried to take it as a joke, but his fiancee had just lived through an extremely traumatic experience and found no humor in her comment. There were no further problems that night, but watching someone you love falling apart right in front of you when it should never have happened in the first place just rips you to pieces. The poor thing couldn't stop crying and I don't believe she or he, not to mention myself, my family and everyone else I know, I hope ... will ever walk into a Denny's again.

This was totally preventable had the waitress done her job and put the customer's well being ahead of whatever else was going on. His health was a priority at that time, and I hope and pray that no one else has to suffer the way they did last week. Had he started to seize, I doubt anyone would have known or cared about what to do, but I surely hope at the least, they would've called an ambulance. There would have been a lawsuit in there had anyone realized after the fact that the whole terrifying episode could have been prevented by a prompt glass of juice. I hope that Denny's becomes aware of this as I haven't been able to contact them directly as I don't have the server slip. Without that, you can't leave a comment or a survey (another feature of Denny's that frustrates me more than I can say).

Today, Jan. 24, was my father's birthday and he wasn't feeling well. Although hesitant, he agreed to go to Denny's with us to get a free birthday Grand Slam. This was at Unit #7493. 1661 E. Warner Road, Gilbert, AZ. We got his food and I asked for a box to put away whatever food my father could not finish and after our nice waiter got it for us, the manager, **, loudly told him that a box was not necessary for free food! This was repeated more than once in front of us! That was very rude. I say, once it has been given to a customer, it should not matter what is done with the food. After my father ate what he could, we got up and paid. I saw her stare at us while we got up and went out. Through the window, we saw her stare down the table like it was the most disgusting thing she ever saw and scolded our waiter. It was the worst experience ever. We felt very unwelcome! It truly ruined our evening.

As of this instant, my family, me and anyone else that I can influence will not enter another Denny's until Denny's issues a complete apology nationally to all policemen who so gladly put their safety and welfare on the line daily so that people like you can spit on them the way that Denny's employees just did to the Belleville officers; and fire the idiot that made this stupid decision in the first place. An employee's nightmare - I had worked for the Denny's on Kuhio Ave. in Honolulu, HI, and I have never been so appalled with the many, many major problems this particular Denny's restaurant displayed. I am not a disgruntled ex-employee either. I worked there till I just couldn't take any more shenanigans from the managerial staff. I started out as the host/cashier. Within a very short time of my employment, I had witnessed very poor behaviors towards employees as well as manager-to-manager respect. One manager named ** used to sit behind the cashier and down-talk customers because they requested a certain sitting area (mostly windows) and would deliberately make them wait even though there were tables open.

Also their request wouldn't even disrupt the rotation! And Denny's policy is “sit wherever you would like,” but because they requested a particular sitting area different from one she wanted to seat them, she would tell the server that he/she take their time getting to them to make them wait. That very same manager used to gossip about the employees that she didn't like to other employees. For instance, the first day I had started there, I couldn't wait to get out of there. I witnessed her deliberately over-seating an employee, who was new to the waiting position on purpose, all the while telling me how much she couldn't stand her, that she wouldn't be here for long and that I should apply for the waiting position! That poor girl did end up quitting! That very same behavior was time and time again displayed to other employees.

In fact in the short time of my grueling employment, I have never seen a bigger turnover of employees in my life. Within a month of employment, I watched 3 waitresses and 1 host quit, and it was because of the employee harassment ** had displayed. I eventually was 1 of the many, after 6 months of employment, that, too, couldn't handle the childish mischief this manager felt privileged to do. Also at the end of the year, to get their bonuses, the night managers would remove the 2,4,6,8 menu from the tables so customers would have to pay full price for items they could have gotten a Denny's 2,4,6,8 menu deal. Not to mention the cleanliness of the dinning wear. A time that I had to get a couple of soup bowls and a Sunday glass, I noticed the dishwasher guy doesn't use the actual dishwasher! He just hoses it off and picks off what remained and handed it to me.

I told him to put it through the dishwasher or at least scrub it. He looked at me as if that was something he had never done. I brought it up to management and they said he hosed it right and I said, "Yes." They replied, "That’s good enough, as long as there's no chunks on it!" I know that the Denny's corporation would not approve of any of this delinquent behavior. Sad enough, I had to resign from working there. And future customers: avoid Kuhio Ave. Denny's at all cost when it comes to good customer, employee care and especially if you'd like to eat off clean dinning ware! But if you do find yourself there one night, request to have your dinnerware scrubbed and to see the 2,4,6,8 menu they stashed away!

On a weekly basis, I order takeout from my local Denny's restaurant. Each time I visited (12/02, 12/06, 12/17) the Denny's on Reseda #46789 (Merchant #1), I was harassed by the store manager! He is never friendly or wearing a name tag. His negative attitude and comments towards me include statements like "Other managers may not charge you for a cup of ice, but I have to start charging you;" or "I need to see your ID," when I use my credit card for payment. I don't see the same manager telling other customers the same statements.

Two weeks ago, while in the restaurant, I told the district manager. The comments have not stopped. This time I am writing a note to the Denny's corporation, BB, Yelp and possibly the media to let them know about this manager's conduct. I want my complaint placed in his permanent file and tallied in his next review. I feel his actions are speared by both racial and gender biases. Though it may not sound much, it is enough for me to write/phone the corporate office. This man never says hello or good morning like I see him doing to some other customers.

Last night I went to the Denny's restaurant on Topanga Canyon Blvd and both the manager and employee were very nice to me. I have driven 5 miles out of the way to this Denny's to avoid the Reseda restaurant's disrespect! I am determined to keep writing complaints until your company removes that manager from any store in my local area. In closing, he is not worth the financial loss of me taking my business to another company and telling all of my family/friends about my experience and the corporate response.

On November 9, 2012, my daughter and I went to the Denny's in Fountain Valley, CA. It was my birthday. We wanted to get the free Grand Slam. We were greeted by a server, an older woman maybe in her late 50s. We were immediately put in the corner of the restaurant away from the other customers. We are black. We were very stunned, so stunned, we were speechless. The place was not full. My daughter asked if I could get the Grand Slam as it was my birthday. The server briskly said, just show it to the cashier when you pay. She said our server would be right with us.

This server went to the other two tables where she was the waitress. She was so very friendly, so pleasant. She went on to tell them about the new coffee machine they were going to get. How much better tasting the coffee would be? She was just very friendly. I sat there shocked. She barely said a couple of words to me. She could not wait to get away from our table. It became very evident we were being snubbed. First, she put us in the corner and barely said anything civil. Then she went and was Super Waitress to the other customers who were not black. She came back over and said our server was on break and she would take our order. Once again, she was not friendly, more like it was a chore to wait on us.

Our server came over, a very nice young man. He brought the food. He gave us our bill, said happy birthday to me, and said he had already taken off the Grand Slam. I just looked at him with this stunned look as we were told to show the cashier my license when we paid. I guess from the look on my face, he could tell something was wrong. He said, “She already looked at your license right?” I said nothing and still stunned. I left him a nice $7 tip, what the Grand Slam would be worth and we left.

I sent a complaint to Denny’s. The regional manager sent an email about how sorry she was about our experience and she would send us some coupons for my daughter and myself. Well the coupons arrived. I never really looked at them. The thought of going back to that Denny’s still traumatizes me. I cannot believe that in 2012 we were treated that way. Last week, one month later, my daughter and I decided to use the coupons. We went to another Denny's in another county. After consuming our meals, we were told that the coupons were only good for one person at a time.

Are you serious? First off, we were thrown some breakfast coupons for being treated like second citizens, then you can only use the coupons one at a time? I have been traumatized by this. I have no desire at all to ever go back to the Denny’s in Fountain Valley. I never wanted anything out of this, but to feel that Denny’s cares how their customers are treated. It's really an insult to have been treated like we were and then to send us a couple of coupons as an apology. And the coupons are even a joke. I want nothing from Denny’s. All they had to do was maybe even have given us two free dinners at one time, something to show that this is not acceptable. But a couple of breakfast coupons to be used one at a time is a joke.

If we were shown that what happened to us really meant something, I would have gotten over it. But the fact that Denny's let their employee treat someone like that and then Denny's reacts by mailing a couple of coupons is obscene. I feel as though the horrible treatment still continues. I do not want anything from Denny's. I do want as many people as possible to know how Denny's handles situations like this. I have lived in the neighborhood for many years. I am a homeowner. We were dressed nicely. I am aware that this was right after the elections and some people were still a little upset. But to judge someone by their color, which is all I can assume, as she was pleasant with everyone else and we were the only black people in the place, is sad.

She asked her manager, and she said no. Well, what about those of us who don't drink coffee and drink tea instead. Why only coffee and not hot tea? That’s a little unfair. Just because we don't drink coffee, you would think the manager could and would do this for the customer who is a senior just to keep them coming back to their store. Anyway, it was very upsetting. This is a complaint, but it's also a warning to other consumers who dine out to watch for unanticipated charges on their bill. Things like a side of ranch dressing for dipping and butter that were not charged for previously are being charged for now, but neither the menu nor the server discloses the extra charge. While dining at Applebee's, when a baked potato was selected from the potato choices, the server asked if I wanted "everything" on it. I replied "yes," but neither she nor the menu stated that there would be an extra $1.49 charge for the toppings which came free with the potato previously. At Denny's, the side of ranch dressing was charged on the bill but neither the menu nor the server indicated that there would be a charge.

My family does not mind paying for a side of dressing or gravy, but it should be disclosed that there is a charge so that we are aware that if it is requested, it will cost an extra $0.90. The same with the baked potato - if the toppings cost extra, that should also be disclosed to the consumer. Some places are charging extra for margarine for dinner rolls and not disclosing to the customer that there is an extra charge which is not fair to the customer. Many families have a limited dining out budget and they need to know the entire cost of the meal prior to dining out.

To charge for items that were not charged for previously and not tell the customer up front that there is now a charge for the item or items is sneaky and is ripping the customer off. My comments to the management of both of these restaurants did nothing.

Every employee was new with exception to only a couple & boy, did they seem stressed. He took our order, and had an unexceptional attitude. We ordered the Build Your Own Burgers and some Pancake Puppies, waited about 30-40 minutes for two burgers! Our food sat on the counter for at least 10 minutes and to make that worse, the Pancake Puppies that were given out the first time were about as dark as the jet black box that they served them in. When asked politely if they could redo them, the chef agreed but the general manager went on a wild tangent on me & an employee! He stepped in the kitchen, held the batter bucket up and said, "This is why they are dark, but I will still cook them." Everyone began to look at him in a crazed manner. Within 2 minutes, he tossed some up in a to-go box with a complete disregard for who may have been on the other side. The Puppies were only browned just a tad on the outside and completely undone on the inside! Wow! They have extremely poor service and no manager to be found. It took 15 minutes to be seated even though the restaurant was not full and we were not even acknowledged by the hostess. It took another 40 minutes to get the food after we ordered. Then the quality was very poor. I submitted feedback to the corporate office via their website and did not receive even as much as a standard thank you for your feedback email. Since no one from the local up through the corporate seems to care about customers, I will not be eating at Denny's again!

We are Denny's fans all the way - love the food, service, etc. We went back a few days later and this Denny's was gone! There was no prior notice, none of the waitresses said anything, no signs anywhere! Where did you go and why? It seems this would be a perfect locale! Please let us know where to find another one close by!

Tonight, being a very special occasion, I invited my wife to Denny's located at Los Paseos in Puerto Rico, to celebrate Valentine's Day. We were greeted, and walked to a table. We were there for more than 40 minutes, and nobody even offered us a glass of water. We tried to get the hosts' and hostesses' attention to no avail. We asked for the manager. He came to us but without paying attention he said we were going to served, but we can't even tell his name because he gave his back to us and walked to a table and then to the kitchen and nothing happened. I got very angry with such a thoughtless attention given to us, and as a matter of fact, we lost our appetite and my wife got very upset with this situation. We think we deserve an apology for such a bad service. And, I would greatly appreciate if you send this report to this place. I used to work in a restaurant, and I know that on certain holidays, restaurants are full, but if these people are not prepared to work under pressure, you should fire all of them. If you see such a careless behavior from a manager, what would you expect from his employees? These people ruined our night. I hope to hear from you soon. Please contact me preferably by e-mail. Thanks.

This is about the Denny's Restaurant at 1307 N Keller Dr.. Effingham, IL. We entered the restaurant and no one greeted or offered to seat us for at least five minutes (although several wait persons walked directly in front of us). Once we were seated, we had to wait a very long time for the waitress to come. She took our order, then another very long wait. Finally, the coffee was served and more waiting time for our meals.

I had ordered an English muffin with my meal, but it wasn't served with the meal. We finally flagged her down, another long wait for the muffin to arrive (by this time, my meal was pretty much all eaten!). Another long wait for her to bring our bill. The meal was very good, the restaurant was very nice, but the service was terrible. They seemed to be extremely understaffed.

We arrived and were told there was a 30-minute wait, because the manager would not open the back dining room. So we got the option of either waiting, sitting in two separate booths or squeezing 6 people into one booth with a chair on the end (ridiculous!). Since we can't afford to go out to eat all the time, and call us crazy, but we would like to be able to sit together as a family. We reluctantly decided to squeeze into the booth with one of us sitting on a chair at the end of the table.

The manager, Iris, has acted rude other times we have been there, and she never seemed happy and was very disrespectful to the waitresses. At one point, she yelled at one of the waitresses until she was in tears! I really feel she needs to be evaluated and do not feel she should be dealing with the public with such poor people skills.

It didn’t get to the table until after we asked a second time when the pancake arrived for my son. I had coffee. I had to flag down the host to get a refill because the waiter completely ignored us. This was at the Denny's off Ramona expressway in San Jacinto, California. The one good thing I can say is the food was very good. Still with the poor service, I would think twice about going back.

I'm a 46 year old and I have been a flight attendant for 16 years. I have seen and heard a lot of both good and bad things, but once this happened I decided to bring it to Denny's attention because I both know the past problems that have had and also because it is one of my favorite restaurants around the world. I took my 5 year old son and 9 year old grandson to a movie and to Denny's after. My 4-year old needed to use the bathroom and I ask my grandson to take him, when they came back my grandson said, "Grandma, that lady that came to our table told that other lady that she doesn't want to come to our table because we are black, she didn't even see me right there grandma." My 4-year old said, Mommy she doesn't like us? I ask them to stay there at the table while I see what happen. I did ask one of the women if she would have the girl come see me, after a few minutes, she did come out but she had that look of concern on her face, I told her what my grandson told me.

The other women kind of looked at her with a look of surprise and said, "Shut up, you did not say that." I guess without thinking, the girl said, "No, I did not and you know them kids be lying. I said them kids? And she said, "Yeah, all these kids that be coming in here. I didn't know if I should be made at her first or last statement but because my grandson was now next to me I didn't want to be rude. I asked for the check and told them I would be back without my kids to see the manager later that day. The women gave me the check but I notice she cut the cost in half. I told my husband what happened and he told me to let it go .I did but I wanted you to know what happen to me. Today, Jan 28th 2012 Buffalo NY on Delaware Ave.

Our waitress had a large table of her family/friends that she hung out with every second she had. My meal tasted like a TV dinner and my poor husband's steak was so dry and gross looking. I wish we had spent the $42.00 at Jack in the Box. The only meal that looked appetizing was my 10-year old daughter's pancakes with mashed potatoes on the side. I'm so irritated.

When we ate, the waitress she said it was because they ordered breakfast & since it was easier than our cheeseburgers it got fixed first (are you kidding?). Our waitress was about one of the rudest & obnoxious people I ever met. After an hour, our food finally came out & was cold. The waitress said there was a mix-up in the kitchen. She also never brought us any refills (keep in mind drinks are $2.50 ea). We were only offered their special "Christmas menu" which had prices listed higher than normal. I thought there was a law against gouging? My husband always orders off their special 2-4-6-8 menu which has their classic burger & fries for $6.00. This menu listed a "Classic Cheeseburger" for $7.79. When we asked about it, they said it had cheese. $1.79 for cheese, are you kidding?

I live alone and this year for Christmas I didn't want to cook. So I ordered the Christmas plate from Denny's for takeout. The process was smooth and the staff were friendly, no problem there. When I got home I opened the bag and I nearly fainted. There was a rotten smell coming from the mashed potatoes, which were not in a nice scoop with gravy on top.

They were like an elongated mass of leftover potatoes with gravy coming from the sides of it as if it was taken from another plate and dumped in the takeout dish. I tasted them and the potatoes tasted like made from the box, no real potato taste, and the gravy smelled really bad. The green beans were wilted and a few looked made a long time ago. The turkey was sliced turkey that did not have a turkey taste and was crispy, not soft. The stuffing tasted good but salty as heck. The slice of pumpkin pie I ordered separately tasted okay, but had a lavender aftertaste. The main problem for me were the potatoes.

I was hungry but the only thing I could eat was the sliced crispy turkey and the garlic bread. I did taste the green beans and the mashed potatoes, but couldn't eat them. This was my Christmas dinner, which cost me around $12. I could've done better with a TV dinner. I am writing this here so people know what kind of stuff is being sold there. I did not contact the manager or anyone at their website because I can't take the hassle of someone being mean about it. Just giving my opinion of the food they sold me. First time ordering there. I'm not sick, though I will have to wait a few hours to really know if it made me sick.

Besides encountering a filthy dirty, greasy facility, we could not order a small breakfast at all from the menu. The restauraunt obviosuly promotes obesity in its patrons. Everyone around us was obese and now I can see why.

There was nothing on the menu other than giant meals at decent prices. To order a simple and healthy breakfast, the customer is forced to pay for a huge breakfast and throw half of it away, or order a la carte and pay much, much more. There is absolutely no option for a person to have a healthy breakfast at a reasonable price at this place.

The coupon expressly states "One coupon per person per visit" as first line of small print. (All other small print was not relevant to this scenario). After we placed our drink orders, the shift manager approached our table and informed us that the "coupons could only be used by one person per table"!

We pointed out that the expressly worded statement on the coupon was not the same as what he was saying. He refused to reconsider what we were READING to him from the coupons!

Chris, the owner of this Franchise . Can't properly run a business. He Fired me because I called out sick one day. His reasons for firing me are as follows; False documentation of hours, Always complaining about being sick, And customer complaint. Now, in the order written down i will explain every one of them. I am 17 years old and was a Full-TIme waitress at his resturant. He would double shift me, he made me work 10, 12, 14 hour shifts with no break sometimes. And he would take a lunch break out of my check for all of these shifts, BUT would refuse to let me take a break.

He would pay me for less hours than I actually worked, and wouldn't pay me for all my over time. He threatened me that if i called out sick that he would fire me. Even so that I show and have medical records of being very sick. His mentallity of thinking was, and I quote " If you are sick, i rather fire you, and hire somebody that doesn't have any problems."

Not only that he endangered customers for making me come to work when i was very sick. I couldn't afford to lose me job since i live on my own, and didn't have any time to find another job because I worked long hours. The customers never complained about bad service, because I always had a smile on my face and made friendly conversation with the guests. They complained about the food. I remember the emotion stress I went through every working day because the customers would yell and blame me for the food being cold, gross, or because we were out.

One day as I can recall, we were out of ; T-bone streak, panacakes, hashbrowns, fries, bufflo hamburgers, ranch hambugers, grilled chicken, milk, butter and salad. Not to mention the fact that all the dairy products that he does have are out for hours in the humid kitchen. The reason I was't able to make it to work on Sunday, was because the night before I was jumped by three girls outside, and was badly hurt. I called out at 2am when I was supposed to work at 8am, which gave them plenty of notice.

One time I came to work with a bleeding toe, and they refused to let me go home, so i stayed and basically hoped around, I am not a baby, but my feet for that matter everybody's feet are very sensitive. That same night i burned my hands on boiling hot soup, which resulted in 1st degree burns. No one offered to help me or get the first aid kit. Nevermind, they don't even carry a first aid Kit. Instead I was yelled at and told to get back to work. I am not the only worker that has been wrongful terminated, I have the names and phone numbers of atleast 5 other watiress that have been through this, and worst. If you decide to investagate this further I will get permission to release there names and numbers.

This is one day I should've passed on this time. We went out to eat and the waitress accidently spilled her drink tray right on my 13 month old son Andrew (the cups full of coffee hit him sqare on the head. The cups fell down behind him but the liquid landed right on his head and down onto his neck and shoulder. I was so mad. I grabbed him out of the chair and ran in the bathroom to put some cold water on his head. Thank God he had winter clothes on. We took him to the hospital just to make sure he was ok. He is fine now.

I called Denny's and told them I am contacting the main branch to tell them to "instruct" their employees NOT to hold anything over a baby like that. Put the tray down elsewhere on the table then hand the stuff out. I know they have a tough job but we are talking about child saftey. We take it so for granted they know what they are doing. You just never know. They think because the child sits lower that they take advantage of the air space to hold things. I will speak up wherever I go from now on if any come near my kids with the tray. Now I am trying to contact every restaurant to warn them of the same danger. I don't know how many times I've had to move things immediately because the waiters set this stuff down in front of the kids to begin with.

Do they have no concept of the danger? I guess you have to have kids to understand but their is such a thing as common sense. Please pass this warning on to all trainees to be extra careful while serving around children. I just thought you could put this in your consumer affairs letter to warn people to be extra careful in restaurants with children present.
