I want to recognize Ryan B., the representative who helped me finalize a settlement arrangement for my account on August 3, 2026. He provided one of the most compassionate and helpful customer-service experiences I have ever received. To be completely honest, my overall experience with Westlake Financial as a company has been difficult, and I cannot say that I am satisfied with the company as a whole. However, Ryan deserves to be recognized separately because he was truly amazing.
I was dealing with a complicated situation involving my vehicle, the remaining balance on my account, and a possible settlement. Previous conversations had left me confused and uncertain about what was happening. Ryan patiently broke everything down in a way that I could finally understand. He clearly explained why the vehicle was considered to have no value, what could happen if the account was transferred to collections, and what options were still available to me.
When I explained that I had recently experienced serious health and financial hardships and could not afford the full monthly settlement amount right now, he genuinely listened to me. He did not make me feel judged, embarrassed, or like I was simply another account number. He treated me like a real person who was going through a difficult time and was sincerely trying to take responsibility, rebuild my life, and repair my credit.
Ryan helped me find a way to begin the settlement process with an affordable initial payment while giving me the opportunity to make up the remaining amount once I am financially stable and able to return to work. He did not have to show me the level of patience, compassion, and understanding that he did, but he chose to and that made all the difference.
His kindness and willingness to help literally brought me to tears. I have been carrying so much stress and uncertainty, and that conversation gave me a sense of relief, hope, and encouragement that I truly needed. It is rare to speak with a representative who takes the time to listen, explain everything thoroughly, and make someone feel understood during one of the hardest moments of their life.
This five-star review is specifically for Ryan B. and the exceptional service he provided. Although my feelings about Westlake Financial as a company have not changed, my experience with Ryan was outstanding and deserves to be acknowledged. Westlake is very fortunate to have a representative like him. I sincerely hope management is able to identify him through the record of my call and recognize him for the meaningful difference he made in my life today. Thank you so much, Ryan. Your patience, compassion, and humanity meant more to me than you will ever know.

Westlake has been a great service to understanding and helping me through many hardships with making ends meet. They actually work with you and communicate to work towards a solution that is mutually beneficial to the customer and the institution. I had a specialist named victor help me immensely and his skills are unmatched by any other that I’ve had the experience in talking to. He was very courteous and empathetic to the situations at hand and to find service like that in these times is very difficult but very very worthwhile to experience. Thank you victor and thank you Westlake Financial!

I purchased a vehicle in May 2025 and was financed through Westlake Financial, I have had a great experience with this company. I already knew my credit rating was low since I was working on it myself and raised it 250+ points. However, my truck was recently totaled out and I will absolutely use them again if the need arises for my next vehicle. The only negative I can share when I had surgery 11-2025, they were not willing to push back any payments due on the truck to allow time for healing, even though I called to give them a heads up on the reason the payment was behind.

THEY ABSOLUTELY SUCK. MY HUSBAND IS DISABLED AND CAN'T DRIVE. THEY REFUSED TO RELEASE THE CAR TO ME. The representatives were giving me different answers and then so were the supervisors as well. They are horrible. Don’t recommend at all and I would never get anything through them. They used a third party to take the car but a spouse can’t get it back. When I asked if this is how they treat disabled people the supervisor said yes.

EVERYONE. If you hear your sales rep or finance rep say you are financing your car loan thru WESTLAKE DO NOT DO IT!! READ THE LAWSUITS. The dealership is just trying to get paid for your purchase but the lender is a SCAM. They will STEAL from you. I have 25 years experience with this company. BE CAREFUL and REMEMBER you were WARNED when they make your situation worse even though they CLAIM to make it better!

Terrible Bank. Terrible customer service. AI responses overseas customer reps who do not understand what you're saying and do not seem to care. All you get is a automated response saying call customer service number which I did and left a voicemail and they did not respond. Just continue proof of poor poor customer service. I've been waiting on a title for over 2 months that they demanded their money for in 10 days which they got. I am still waiting on a title on a car I sold and cannot get a live person to help me out. It's just a brick wall after brick wall after brick wall. Do not use!

The worst company ever to finance with. We paid off our vehicle in February 2026 and they’re still digging us on our credit saying the vehicle is not paid off and we own the car entitled paid off through motor vehicle vehicles.. I have contacted a multiple times and I’m getting the runaround. The staff doesn’t know anything about nothing. It’s just a trashy company in general that’s overpaid interest rate on vehicles at 22% then on top of that you have the five dollar monthly charge fee.. My best advice to anyone - stay clear of this company.

My son was behind on his car payment and it took forever to get someone on the phone to get his car back but they ended up charging a $500 repossession fee which I did pay and now that a month has went by they want to keep charging us for repo fees. California law says that they cannot do that since they established the amount and sent us a release. I have been bogged down with how many people are going through similar situations. I don't know what to do.

Absolutely horrible customer service. Mixed communication, no documentation of changes being made. I had to call multiple times to get my account out of repo status AFTER I ALREADY PAID. They told me it's a system "glitch". No responsibility for their mixed and poor communication either. Horrible company.

Wish I could give them a zero star rating. This has been a terrible bank to work with. Reps have no idea what they’re doing and stick to their script and don’t direct you to what you need. We’ve been stuck for over 2 months trying to have them closing our account after insurance has paid them and they’ve refused payment multiple times.

There should be a way to put negative stars, they are the worst. This company has repossessed my car twice without even consulting with another person on the loan... They make it virtually impossible to get your vehicle back after the towing company they use damages the car, and to top it all off, you can't understand over half their staff when on the phone with them... If you decide to use this company, have a lawyer on retainer because you will definitely need one!! This company needs to be put out of business for uncouth practices and screwing people out of their money and their vehicle. I will be taking every avenue I can to get the word out and make sure that this company is reported through any Avenue available; they do not need to be in business.... Getting ready to make some big noise.

RECORD every interaction with this predatory company. I had a car loan with another company and it was transferred to Westlake. I unfortunately got repossessed. I called to get total payoff. Paid off and got my car back. ONE YEAR later (at work) my car is repossessed due to “administrative fees”. Non existent customer service. Get an ITEMIZED statement. Not just total due. From one phone conversation to the next the amount will change and they will not guarantee that there will not be any further charges after pay off.
RECORD every conversation (and tell them so) as they will gas light, insinuate you misunderstood, are confused or are lying about prior information given to you by their fellow coworkers. Do not call if you are upset because talking with anyone in the company will make it worse. They are trained to eff you over. They will talk over you, give you misinformation, and not back up anything they tell you even if it is from a prior phone conversation the same day. They will also act intentionally confused about what information you are needing. If you have family or friends doing business with this company please tell them to refinance or payoff asap They will hold your title hostage until they can get every drop out of you.

0 stars would be too many. Atrocious in every way possible. Customer service is non existent. Won't give me a letter to release my loan for refinancing.
Reviewed July 7, 2026
I would not recommend Westlake Financial. Customer service is extremely frustrating because there is no direct way to speak with someone. You have to leave your information and wait for a callback instead of getting immediate assistance. The interest rate is unreasonably high, and the billing process is confusing and unreliable. I have repeatedly been unable to log into my online account to verify my balance, payment history, or account information. To make matters worse, every time I call, I’m given a different account number, which makes it impossible to access my account online.
I’ve also experienced payments being returned even when I submitted them before the due date. This creates unnecessary late fees and makes the entire process feel unfair. As a customer, I should be able to make a payment, access my account, and receive consistent information without all of these obstacles. Overall, my experience has been disappointing. I regret financing through Westlake Financial and cannot wait to refinance my loan and end my relationship with this company.

I bought my car 3 years ago, my loan is for 4 years. I paired it off on June 16, 2026. It is now June 29 2026. They had told me that I would get my title in 7 to 10 days. No title to this date. So I call and after being transferred 4 times I get a person I can't understand, but they tell me I won’t get my title until July 27. Plus if you miss a payment they you can get your car repossessed But they can do whatever they want and they just keep repeating the same thing. This company is the worst. Do not use them. Then before you hang up they say, "Is there anything else I can do for you." 40 days to wait for my title is insane.

Is it a scam, or is it outright fraud that West Lake Financial is committing? Either way, All my documents, records of phone calls, and payment receipts are being submitted to every business regulatory body on the planet to file as many complaints as possible on their business practices. Soooo... Here's a story... (sing it like the Brady Bunch"). My vehicle that had financed with them was paid off in 2024. The lien release card was misplaced, so I called to get another. (Keep this in mind folks). Anyway, I needed it to be able to sell the car. Spent 30 minutes on the phone for them to tell me to use the website. So, I went on their handy dandy website for a request- did all the things, paid to have it expedited through Fed Ex, and boom! Easy Peasy, right? No? NO YOU SAY? That's right. NO.
Called Fed Ex because they said it was a bad delivery address. Verified all my receipts for shipping- everything was correct. Called WLF, and they said it was correct. Hmm... mystery afoot? Anyway, ordered another release through the website - MORE MONEY OUT OF POCKET - to get the release card. Spent at minimum 45 minutes on the phone trying to figure out what was wrong, verified paperwork receipts of payment & shipping AGAIN, but was reassured it would be on its way. Waited again for my 7-10 business days & NOTHING. (BY THE WAY, you're going to enjoy this part - you get a confirmation email EVERY SINGLE TIME they initiate a request for the lien release card from their title service dept for you to track your request - every time assuring you it's being processed - FUNNY, HUH?)
As a side note - this now puts us at a month of waiting (I requested card originally at the 3rd week of April, at this point it was now the 3rd week of May). I call a THIRD TIME, because a 3rd times a charm, right? Yeah, NO. Still no lein release, pissed off because I've had to pay everytime I've requested; you can't talk to anyone in their title services department because they've farmed out their customer service overseas to a phone bank; and I could've flown directly to Las Vegas (where their title service dept is located) and walked in and gotten it myself for less money than I've spent requesting copies of the stupid card.
Anyway, I'll be calling again today, ordering another card, probably have to pay again, it's now over 2 months, West Lake has made a nice little chunk of change in their FRAUD, and will I EVER get the lien release card? - it's a mystery, folks!! Oh yeah, time well spent submitting all my documentation, too. Can't wait to see what happens! 😁

I will never say this is a good loan company, when covid hit some got sick, lost jobs and could not make payments. Westlake does not care and they never will. If you miss a payment your car is gone and to get it back you're going to have to pay out your ass. My car got repoed and I got it back but was charged a 1,500.00 for a towing fee. My car was paid off but since I owed 400$ on the towing fee they held my title for 2 years and now they decided to write it off. I paid for 6 years at 23 percent, total of 25 thousand and they are writing it off, don't know if that's legal but litigation is coming, well there was a class action lawsuit, they did not bother taking it to court, but they knew they were in the wrong, Westlake you you could of just sent me my title over 400$ and then you said you would take half of that 200 to give me my title. Cmon westlake do the right thing for once.

A NIGHTMARE when you finish paying for your vehicle, a thousand excuses, weeks! To receive your title (if you are lucky) and if you have to do some paperwork such as a change of status or something similar, you will deeply regret it... With my first truck I paid in advance I waited 3 MONTHS and many headaches to recover my title, with my 2nd vehicle I have been almost a month and NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE knows how to give an answer about where my title is, really a complete disappointment!

Unfortunately, my 2021 Volvo S90 got repossessed. I had every intention of getting possession of my vehicle back at any cost. The agent I spoke with, Ryan ** (?) ext. **, was a tremendous help and worked extremely hard to get management on board to work with me on a payment plan for me to get my vehicle back. There were multiple deadline extensions involved, towards the end a few of which would probably not have been possible to achieve without the help of Ryan. In the end, with Ryan's outstanding help, I was able to pay the remaining balance in full and regain the possession of my vehicle! Ryan, thank you so, so much for your incredible help!

UPDATE ON MY CLAIM WITH Westlake Financial: I am still dealing with ongoing issues regarding my total-loss claim, and the lack of communication and accountability has been extremely frustrating. Every time I contact customer service, I am transferred to the insurance department, yet no one answers the phone. I have called numerous times with the same result, making it seem as though no one is actively working in that department.
My insurance company has also attempted multiple times to resolve this issue directly with Westlake Financial. We have participated in three-way calls together, and despite already submitting the required documents several times, Westlake representatives continue asking for the same paperwork repeatedly. They also continue telling my insurance company to request the letter of guarantee, even though it has already been requested four separate times.
Meanwhile, interest charges continue to accumulate while this process is delayed, and I now have less than two weeks before another payment is due on a vehicle that was already declared a total loss and that I no longer even possess. At this point, I am simply asking for proper communication, accountability, and timely processing so this matter can finally be resolved.

My car had been repossessed twice, and I went to pay them for the second repossession and was told I had to pay the full balance of $7,652 to get my car back. I owed $943. It is unfair to wait to repossess my car in the last year and want the full balance due. Is this illegal?

I’ve never dealt with a customer service team that lies so effortlessly. Every time I call about my issue, they give me the exact answer I want to hear: “Yes, we’ll take care of that,” “It’s being processed,” “You’ll see the update in 24 hours.” But nothing ever happens. No follow-through. No action. Just empty promises designed to get me off the phone.
And the moment I ask to speak with a supervisor? Suddenly, “none are available.” Every single time. I’ve asked at different hours, different days – same excuse. It’s clearly a tactic to avoid accountability. If you value your time and sanity, stay far away from this bank. They’ve mastered the art of sounding helpful while doing absolutely nothing.
