I purchased a vehicle in May 2025 and was financed through Westlake Financial, I have had a great experience with this company. I already knew my credit rating was low since I was working on it myself and raised it 250+ points. However, my truck was recently totaled out and I will absolutely use them again if the need arises for my next vehicle. The only negative I can share when I had surgery 11-2025, they were not willing to push back any payments due on the truck to allow time for healing, even though I called to give them a heads up on the reason the payment was behind.

Unfortunately, my 2021 Volvo S90 got repossessed. I had every intention of getting possession of my vehicle back at any cost. The agent I spoke with, Ryan ** (?) ext. **, was a tremendous help and worked extremely hard to get management on board to work with me on a payment plan for me to get my vehicle back. There were multiple deadline extensions involved, towards the end a few of which would probably not have been possible to achieve without the help of Ryan. In the end, with Ryan's outstanding help, I was able to pay the remaining balance in full and regain the possession of my vehicle! Ryan, thank you so, so much for your incredible help!

Is it a scam, or is it outright fraud that West Lake Financial is committing? Either way, All my documents, records of phone calls, and payment receipts are being submitted to every business regulatory body on the planet to file as many complaints as possible on their business practices. Soooo... Here's a story... (sing it like the Brady Bunch"). My vehicle that had financed with them was paid off in 2024. The lien release card was misplaced, so I called to get another. (Keep this in mind folks). Anyway, I needed it to be able to sell the car. Spent 30 minutes on the phone for them to tell me to use the website. So, I went on their handy dandy website for a request- did all the things, paid to have it expedited through Fed Ex, and boom! Easy Peasy, right? No? NO YOU SAY? That's right. NO.
Called Fed Ex because they said it was a bad delivery address. Verified all my receipts for shipping- everything was correct. Called WLF, and they said it was correct. Hmm... mystery afoot? Anyway, ordered another release through the website - MORE MONEY OUT OF POCKET - to get the release card. Spent at minimum 45 minutes on the phone trying to figure out what was wrong, verified paperwork receipts of payment & shipping AGAIN, but was reassured it would be on its way. Waited again for my 7-10 business days & NOTHING. (BY THE WAY, you're going to enjoy this part - you get a confirmation email EVERY SINGLE TIME they initiate a request for the lien release card from their title service dept for you to track your request - every time assuring you it's being processed - FUNNY, HUH?)
As a side note - this now puts us at a month of waiting (I requested card originally at the 3rd week of April, at this point it was now the 3rd week of May). I call a THIRD TIME, because a 3rd times a charm, right? Yeah, NO. Still no lein release, pissed off because I've had to pay everytime I've requested; you can't talk to anyone in their title services department because they've farmed out their customer service overseas to a phone bank; and I could've flown directly to Las Vegas (where their title service dept is located) and walked in and gotten it myself for less money than I've spent requesting copies of the stupid card.
Anyway, I'll be calling again today, ordering another card, probably have to pay again, it's now over 2 months, West Lake has made a nice little chunk of change in their FRAUD, and will I EVER get the lien release card? - it's a mystery, folks!! Oh yeah, time well spent submitting all my documentation, too. Can't wait to see what happens! 😁

I will never say this is a good loan company, when covid hit some got sick, lost jobs and could not make payments. Westlake does not care and they never will. If you miss a payment your car is gone and to get it back you're going to have to pay out your ass. My car got repoed and I got it back but was charged a 1,500.00 for a towing fee. My car was paid off but since I owed 400$ on the towing fee they held my title for 2 years and now they decided to write it off. I paid for 6 years at 23 percent, total of 25 thousand and they are writing it off, don't know if that's legal but litigation is coming, well there was a class action lawsuit, they did not bother taking it to court, but they knew they were in the wrong, Westlake you you could of just sent me my title over 400$ and then you said you would take half of that 200 to give me my title. Cmon westlake do the right thing for once.

A NIGHTMARE when you finish paying for your vehicle, a thousand excuses, weeks! To receive your title (if you are lucky) and if you have to do some paperwork such as a change of status or something similar, you will deeply regret it... With my first truck I paid in advance I waited 3 MONTHS and many headaches to recover my title, with my 2nd vehicle I have been almost a month and NO ONE, absolutely NO ONE knows how to give an answer about where my title is, really a complete disappointment!

UPDATE ON MY CLAIM WITH Westlake Financial: I am still dealing with ongoing issues regarding my total-loss claim, and the lack of communication and accountability has been extremely frustrating. Every time I contact customer service, I am transferred to the insurance department, yet no one answers the phone. I have called numerous times with the same result, making it seem as though no one is actively working in that department.
My insurance company has also attempted multiple times to resolve this issue directly with Westlake Financial. We have participated in three-way calls together, and despite already submitting the required documents several times, Westlake representatives continue asking for the same paperwork repeatedly. They also continue telling my insurance company to request the letter of guarantee, even though it has already been requested four separate times.
Meanwhile, interest charges continue to accumulate while this process is delayed, and I now have less than two weeks before another payment is due on a vehicle that was already declared a total loss and that I no longer even possess. At this point, I am simply asking for proper communication, accountability, and timely processing so this matter can finally be resolved.

My car had been repossessed twice, and I went to pay them for the second repossession and was told I had to pay the full balance of $7,652 to get my car back. I owed $943. It is unfair to wait to repossess my car in the last year and want the full balance due. Is this illegal?

I’ve never dealt with a customer service team that lies so effortlessly. Every time I call about my issue, they give me the exact answer I want to hear: “Yes, we’ll take care of that,” “It’s being processed,” “You’ll see the update in 24 hours.” But nothing ever happens. No follow-through. No action. Just empty promises designed to get me off the phone.
And the moment I ask to speak with a supervisor? Suddenly, “none are available.” Every single time. I’ve asked at different hours, different days – same excuse. It’s clearly a tactic to avoid accountability. If you value your time and sanity, stay far away from this bank. They’ve mastered the art of sounding helpful while doing absolutely nothing.

I am extremely frustrated and disappointed with both Westlake Financial and Starz Automotive regarding my ongoing situation. I purchased a 2019 Range Rover from Starz Automotive, and it has been nothing but a nightmare. The vehicle has had repeated mechanical issues that clearly indicate it is a lemon—problems that have affected its reliability, safety, and overall value.
Shortly after the purchase, I began experiencing serious issues with the vehicle. Despite multiple attempts to address these problems, including repairs and communication with the dealership, the issues have continued. This is not normal wear and tear—this is a defective vehicle that should have never been sold in the condition it was in.
Starz Automotive has failed to take responsibility for selling a faulty vehicle. Instead of standing behind what they sold, they have been dismissive and unhelpful, offering no meaningful resolution or accountability. On top of that, Westlake Financial has been equally frustrating to deal with. I have provided documentation and explained the situation in detail, yet they continue to report this account on my credit and expect payment for a vehicle that is clearly defective. There has been no willingness to investigate fairly or work toward a reasonable solution, such as removing the account, pausing reporting, or offering any form of relief.
The lack of communication and customer care from both companies has been unacceptable. I have been given the runaround, transferred between departments, and left without clear answers. Meanwhile, my credit has taken a hit, and I am left dealing with the financial burden of a vehicle that does not function as it should. This experience has caused significant stress and financial hardship. Consumers should be able to trust that a dealership is selling a reliable vehicle and that a finance company will act fairly when legitimate issues arise. That has not been the case here.
I strongly advise anyone considering purchasing from Starz Automotive or financing through Westlake Financial to proceed with extreme caution. Based on my experience, I would not recommend either company. I hope they take steps to improve their practices and treat customers with the fairness and accountability they deserve.

I bought my car in January 2021 and it was financed by Westlake. I kept up my payments and my insurance for 3 years, only being late by 30 days 2 times within those 3 years. In January 2024, Westlake started harassing me every day about my payments being late, and that they were going to exercise their right to repossess their interests. On March 17, 2024 (I know, right--lucky day), they sent someone to come repossess my car at my home. The guy told me where it was going to and who I would have to call about getting the rest of my stuff out--but I was getting on the phone with Westlake immediately to find out why, because I knew that I wasn't that far behind.
When they told me that I owed 3 payments, $1 289.00 and some change, I about choked. I told them there was no way that was correct. I tried and tried to get through to these people, but they kept harping about me paying the $1,289.00 and then I could get my car back (if it had not already gone to auction). Well, it went to auction and they sent me a letter showing what they sold it for, and how much I still owed on it--I just about cried. I went to the pound yard where it had originally been taken, so I could get my tag and some other small stuff that had been left in the car.
Fast forward to today: I get a notification from my credit monitoring page that Jefferson Capital Systems had reported on my credit that they had bought this account of almost $7,000 and had originated from Westlake. Well, my credit report shows that this account was paid off, and it also shows that I was only late on payments 2 times more than 30 days, in 3 years. And the account was closed on March 27, 2024. So something is not right. I am going to contact a consumer advocacy attorney, I would like to start a class action suit against Westlake, and I would like to talk with others who have been done the same way. I am at the Y as **.

Purchased a used car recently and used Westlake as the lender recommended by the used car dealer. Decided to sell the car and wanted to pay the car off and get the title to forward to the buyer. Found out Westlake does not offer wire transfers to pay and get a quick title. If I want to pay off the car I need to use Moneygram which a serious hassle for a large amount. They make it extremely hard to just simply pay off the vehicle and get the title expedited to me. I will not be doing business with this company ever again. I’ve purchased many cars and paid them off with ease and had my title within days. Not with these guys. What a nightmare.

I wish I could give negative marks and not a one star. I have had an account with Westlake and at this moment I am very confused and upset. It has not been easy dealing with them to start but my car was totaled over a month ago and I have been trying to get in contact with them to make sure my GAP claim was submitted. After talking with 6 different people and being on hold multiple times today I was finally told that my GAP coverage was cancelled 17 days after I purchased my car for non-payment. Even though my car payment was increased by 23.00 monthly for GAP coverage that only cost 9.99 monthly. Also was told that I had to send the payments separately I couldn't pay them at the same time. Even though they were automatically taking the payment out together.
This company is a sham and to think the 3rd representative that I spoke to today advised that it was going to be some bs with them trying to get them to do what they have been paid to do. I was told that even if they do pay anything it will be one payment and not the remaining payoff as stated in the contract that they make you sign. Westlake financial is the worse and then had the audacity to ask if I wanted to finance another car with them to help make things easier for me. Fool me once shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me. You will never shame me, snakes in the grass comes in all sizes and forms.

I have been trying to reach a "live" agent for the past few days but have been unsuccessful. I finally reached a "live" agent through the Westlake Credit Card number but they were not very helpful. I stated to them that I have been trying to reach out to make a very large payment towards my auto loan and that I in fact didn't have a credit card, could they help me speak to someone in that category. The person on the other end stated that they could give me a phone number which turned out to be the same number I had called previously 5X before and I let them know there isn't a "live" agent option- The robot cannot be by-passed. They stated that "to their knowledge" you can speak to a live agent which I corrected and again, they repeated themselves with the same thing that they had just said which was not accurate.
I am a very dissatisfied customer & I emailed them stating the same thing that was spoken w/the day prior to the credit card phone number. My response to that email wasn't helpful, as I was told to call and make a payment w/the robot or log into the PP to make the payment. I have paid a lot of my hard earned money to this company & I shouldn't be treated this way as I have been a customer for several years. As of March 17, 2026, Westlake has not posted the check to pay off the car loan and is attached daily interest of $6 for everyday Westlake doesn't apply the check to the car loan. IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO PAY CASH FOR A CAR DO THAT BEFORE FINANCING FROM WESTLAKE!!! DO NOT AND I MEAN DO NOT FINANCE A VEHICLE FROM THEM!!! They're very unprofessional and have attitudes when you're calling. There will always be a problem with automatic draft payments and they'll charge you extra late fees. Your gap insurance will not be paid with the monthly invoice and they do not inform you of that so you'll have to make two separate transactions that cost extra.
They don't allow you to pay towards your principal balance claiming that the interest will have to be paid and you can't pay off the car early. EXTRA PAYMENTS WILL GO TOWARDS YOUR INTEREST NOT YOUR PRINCIPAL!!! They'll tack on payments without your consent to the rear of your loan and when you try to pay the car off they will get those payments out of you. IF YOU CAN AFFORD TO PAY CASH FOR A CAR DO THAT BEFORE FINANCING FROM WESTLAKE!!!

Westlake Financial has honestly been one of the worst companies I have ever had to deal with. The customer service is beyond frustrating. Most of the representatives I spoke with were rude, dismissive, and seemed to have very little knowledge about their own policies. Simple questions turn into long, exhausting calls because no one seems able to give a clear answer or actually resolve the issue. What’s even more shocking is how unprofessional many of the interactions are. The level of ignorance, lack of basic customer service skills, and poor communication is unbelievable for a company that handles people’s finances. It often feels like the representatives have no real training or understanding of the situations they’re dealing with.
For a company that finances so many vehicles and works with dealerships across the country, you would expect a much higher level of professionalism. Unfortunately, the quality of service feels extremely low, and dealing with them has been a constant headache. I would strongly caution anyone before choosing Westlake Financial for financing. And this is coming from a customer who actually paid off her loan. I can only imagine how much more difficult the experience must be for people who are already struggling financially.
