What is Tax Tiger?

Tax Tiger is a faith-based tax resolution company that specializes in helping individuals and businesses find relief from their IRS issues. Its team includes tax attorneys, enrolled agents and certified public accountants (CPAs). All of its licensed tax professionals meet the requirements set by the American Society of Tax Problem Solvers.

How does Tax Tiger work?

Tax Tiger begins with a free, confidential consultation. Relief specialists evaluate your situation and decide the best course of action.

If you choose to use its services, Tax Tiger’s tax relief employees will act as your representatives in your case with the IRS. This begins with researching your IRS master file and the release of any levies and garnishments.

Tax Tiger continues to work with the IRS until a full resolution has been reached.

Tax Tiger services

Representatives research your IRS file, plan a strategy and negotiate with the IRS. Tax Tiger works to find a resolution that puts you back into IRS compliance.

Tax Tiger helps with nearly every type of tax relief, including:

  • Back tax relief
  • Innocent spouse relief
  • Offer in compromise (OIC)
  • Unfiled delinquent tax returns
  • Payroll tax liability
  • IRS bank levy
  • IRS audit representation
  • Penalty abatement
  • Wage garnishment

Tax Tiger costs

Tax Tiger does not publish its exact tax resolution prices online but says that its fees are as much as 35% less than what its big-name competitors charge. The typical cost for tax relief services ranges from $750 to $10,000 or more, depending on the complexity of the case. The price varies based on the services you need. Tax Tiger offers a free consultation and charges a flat fee per case.

We encourage you to compare Tax Tiger’s fees with the costs of other tax resolution services before committing to the company.

Tax Tiger FAQ

Does Tax Tiger offer a money-back guarantee?

There is no mention of a money-back guarantee on the Tax Tiger website. You can ask about its refund policy or guarantees during your free consultation.

Can Tax Tiger reduce my tax bill?

Not all taxpayers will qualify for a tax bill reduction. Once Tax Tiger hears about your unique tax case during the free consultation, it can better tell you if you qualify for a reduced IRS bill.

How fast can Tax Tiger fix my tax issues?

Depending on how complex your tax issues are, it can take several weeks or months to get in the clear with the IRS. However, Tax Tiger has been able to remove wage garnishments and levies in as little as one day in some cases.

Can I handle my tax issues on my own?

You certainly can tackle IRS issues by yourself, but many taxpayers choose not to because of how complicated the tax code is. Sometimes the information you give the IRS can hurt your case further. Having a tax attorney gives you client-attorney privileges and ensures all paperwork and requests are done correctly.

Where is Tax Tiger available?

Tax Tiger services the entire U.S. and has physical office locations in California, Colorado and Minnesota.

Still have questions?

Is Tax Tiger legit?

Tax Tiger is a legitimate company headquartered in California. It says that it has helped thousands of people in almost every state save over $120 million in back taxes, penalties and interest over the past 20 years. You can get started by contacting the company for a free consultation.

In November 2022, we hired Tax Tiger after being drawn to their representation as a faith-based company. We engaged them to file several years of back taxes and to negotiate with both the IRS and the California Franchise Tax Board. We paid approximately $8,000 for these services. They had no issue collecting monthly payments. Unfortunately, that was the only part of the engagement that functioned smoothly.

Our account was repeatedly neglected. During a business realignment, our assigned representatives changed, and our case was effectively lost. After months of follow-up on our end, our back tax filings were eventually completed only after we escalated the issue and spoke directly with leadership, who assured us the relationship would improve.

It was during this time that we learned the Tax Tiger brand operates through affiliates or franchise locations. The values and level of service advertised by the original brand did not carry through to the local office we hired. The focus appeared to be on revenue collection rather than client advocacy or results. We were later told that our income level made us ineligible for meaningful assistance with IRS or FTB payment plans, information that should have been disclosed before accepting our case and our money.

What followed was nearly two years of repeated calls and emails, constant delays, and excuses such as staff turnover, maternity leave, or employees no longer being with the company. Eventually, we were informed that our situation was “more complicated” and were asked to pay additional fees just to remain a client. At that point, we chose to cut our losses and disengage.

When negative feedback is posted, the company responds with misleading statements and false accusations in an attempt to shift blame rather than acknowledge failures in service. Based on our experience, we do not believe this office operates with the faith-based values they promote. We strongly advise others to carefully research alternatives before engaging Tax Tiger, particularly the San Diego location. Save your time, money, and energy.

So, so disappointed with this company! I was initially captured by the fact that they claimed to be “faith-based”, which to me, implied a pretty high bar for integrity, reliability, ethical business practices, and transparency. I wanted to believe that, but saw very little of any of those values displayed in my interactions with them. (I must admit, however, they were usually very courteous, caring and professional sounding on the phone).

I came to them because, having lived and worked overseas most of my adult life, and coming back to the States as self-employed, my unawareness of the need for estimated tax payments landed my wife and me in deep trouble with the IRS, we owed thousands, and were unable to pay. Tax Tiger went to bat for us right away and I was lulled into a false sense of confidence. Over the course of the nearly THREE YEARS I worked with them, I ended up paying them thousands of dollars out of pocket. Although they didn’t out and out lie to me, they led me to believe, each time they asked for money, that it would be the last time.

One positive thing is that during the time I was working with them, they filed my taxes for me - at a fee, of course, which I thought was fair. But they often lost paperwork - one time even “forgetting” to send in my return. They contacted me in late summer that year and told me I needed to get my information into them because they had requested an extension and the time was nearly up. After many spirited conversations and emails, they mysteriously “found” the paperwork and filed. This kind of slipshod, careless work ethic was unfortunately the norm.

In the end, they finally did make an Offer in Compromise to the IRS, but it was so ridiculously and unrealistically low that the IRS obviously rejected the offer. They said I could appeal the decision - for MORE money - but I counted my losses and left them …. with the same amount of debt as when I first contacted them. In short, they wasted my time, extracted thousands from my account, and caused a great deal of stress and many sleepless nights for both my wife and me. Use them at your own risk!

I started with Tax Tiger in 2020. I paid an upfront amount ($4500) agreed upon with the claim that we would work toward an Offer in Compromise with the IRS. They graciously allowed me to make payments and during that time frame they were very responsive and easy to work with. After finalizing my payments, they started to become harder and harder to contact and would take sometimes months to respond to me. Also, after my final payment, their system, "accidentally" continued to charge my account which required me going back and forth with them to get a refund of funds they took "by accident." After 5 years, zero progress has been made by them on my case. My case manager has been changed at least 6 or 7 times. I don't even know who it is at this point. The last time I heard from them was June 19th 2024 with the response of "I will check in with your case manager in regard to your case" today is Feb 20, 2025 and I officially terminated their company today.

I watched a couple online videos and in 1 month, I have filed all necessary paperwork with the IRS in regard to my own case. Started payment options with the IRS on my own and eliminated years of my owed debt. I'm also working with the IRS to eliminate fines and portions of interest owed. I also discovered Tax Tiger never even filed my power of attorney paperwork with the IRS. Believe it or not, getting responses and assistance from the IRS is easier than contacting Tax Tiger and costs $0.

I did not research this company before I chose them. I unfortunately took someone's word for it who was employed by the company and part of a local networking group I trusted. I learned my lesson for sure. My advice is to run as far from these kinds of companies as possible and reach out to a local independent to help you or do it yourself.

I made Julia fully aware of my situation with the CA FTB before paying any money. She promised she could reduce the amount I owed. I paid thousands for nothing. My amount owed was not reduced and I was put in a payment plan I could not afford. She refused to refund any portion of what I paid her. She did not care about my situation at all. Very difficult to get her to call me back once I paid her. It would take days to get a call back and never by her. It was always, we'll let her know and get back to you. Horrible experience!

I responded to Tax Tiger for information concerning my tax situation on line. During the call back from Tax Tiger I received another call from a different Tax Tiger office. I chose to do business with the first who had called as they had done a good job explaining what to expect and qualifying our situation. Then unexpectedly the next day K. ** called and said she must place my business with the second caller whom I had only spoken with briefly when I explained I was on the phone with Tax Tiger. She said she must place me with them for ethical reasons.

I protested and was told I couldn’t get a refund when I asked for one and now I have really paid the price. Our tax resolution with Tax Tiger was for 100% of taxes, penalties, and interest. I wish I had been given the refund I requested and bolted from Tax Tiger as soon as this attorney referral was forced upon me. Ethics do not dictate that you change an arrangement with a customer in order to meet a licensee's demands.

I wish I had seen reviews before I hired! On 3rd rep. I send letters often stating my dis. W/ no reply! Didn't want them to stop garnish. They stopped it! All I wanted was for them to file my taxes w/ FTB for 18 years ago. First they couldn't discuss anything until I hired them. Then told there were extra fees for filing even though I told them that is what I needed. When I agreed to pay more fees to file she tells me their tax dep. Forms don't go back to 2001. She sends me a 'form creator' totally foreign to me. I could never open; supposedly the forms were on the program. I've paid $6k to FTB. FTB told me W/ EIC/small children credit I probably don't owe anything. Paid 3k for help. After 2 years I have resorted to filing on my own. More than disheartened!

Worthless! Don’t waste your money on them! I paid them over 3K dollars in 2018 to resolve my 2015 tax issue and have gotten nothing but lip service! Don’t fall for their “Christian values” advertisement. It’s a scam!

I too fell for the ploy of Christian values because they were advertising on Christian radio stations. By the way, I don't know who dropped who but they no longer advertise on my Christian radio station. The intake was very friendly and they offered to take care of everything for $1000. I asked if the intake agent wanted to know what my tax deductions were for the years they were filing for me, e.g., child deduction, donations, I was told the preparers would call me for my information. No calls, by the way, just the sloppiest tax returns I had ever seen. I'm a 40+ widow with two children. My tax return looked like I worked at the Burger Hut. They got their money and I had to pay $4000 to another company to fix their incompetence.

When I first contacted Tax Tiger, based on their advertisement that they operate based on "Christian principles", they convinced me that they would handle my account with the IRS and within 3-4 months would have a payment plan in place. I signed a contract, paid them over $4000 in fees for their "professional services" and it is now almost 2 years and they have done absolutely NOTHING to resolve my issue with the IRS. In addition, during the time they have been "working" on my account, the IRS has levied my Social Security benefits. I would never recommend this firm to anyone for tax resolution. I am in jeopardy of losing my job, my home, etc. and THEY DO NOT CARE. No response to emails for months and in almost 24 months and many sleepless nights over this matter, they have only contacted me several times and only in response to my calls or emails. There is nothing Christian-like about this company.

I guess I was taken in by their talk about being good "Christians." They took my $3250 without asking any question other than how much I owed to the IRS in total. After nearly 3 months, I called and asked for a status update. Nothing had happened as of that date. They then sent me a list of questions that should have been asked when I first spoke with them to see if I even had a case. I believe they were more concerned with collecting their fee than providing me with a good service.
