A couple years after bankruptcy, I wanted to buy a good car. I went looking and found a car I liked but my issue now was my credit. The dealership was able to get me approved through Regional Acceptance for a small down payment. Looking at and READING the paperwork, I knew I was going to have high interest. It was something I was willing to accept in order to start repairing my credit with a larger loan. I've had this loan for a couple years now and have never had an issue with Regional Acceptance. I've made sure to pay on time for at least my minimum payment and have even made a double payment one month verifying the extra went towards my principal. When I've called twice, I never had an issue with the people I spoke to.

To the people complaining. I keep reading about how you are "harassed" when you are late on your payment. Would you want to be paid late? Or about the interest rate, it is mandatory that when you sign the paperwork, the interest rate, payment amount and date be shown to you in writing and you sign that paper. It's your fault for not reading the paperwork. Clearly we put ourselves in the position to have to rely on a company like this for help. I just find it funny that people are complaining when a company responds to a late payment. Your actual "due date" is the date at which your bill is cut, the stated due date should be looked at as your last day to pay as it allows the company to collect the most interest before next cycle. But then all companies do it, not just Regional.

I've read thousands of consumer complaints and they're so similar to what I've experienced. This basically sums it up for those with Q's.:

    1) This is the worst nightmare financial company known to man. They're liars, call from fake numbers. They'll call you multiple times a day, 7 days a week - yes, even on Sunday up to 9:30 at night. 2) Within 30 days past due, they're searching for your car. Within 2 months your car will be towed. If your car is towed, you will NEVER see it again. If your car is towed, they demand FULL loan payment, so you better file bankruptcy, get another loan to pay this loan off, or hire an attorney.

    3) If you want to hide your car, best way is a garage or storage unit until you can get current on your loan. Within 120 days (4 months), they'll hire an attorney for you to surrender the vehicle. 4) I've seen people with their loans paid off and no title was given to them. You can call all you want and they'll tell you it's been sent or give some sort of an excuse why it wasn't sent yet. I've seen people wait 1-2 years before hiring an attorney to sue RAC.

    5) Option:1 How to get rid of this nightmare? I've seen cars get totaled and insurance companies getting irritated dealing with this uncooperative RAC company, but eventually insurance/GAP gets settled. Option 2: Fixing your credit with Lexington Law dot com and trade your nightmare car loan in for a better interest rate loan. No matter what, you're upside down on your loan, but at least your credit will be fixed minus this loan and you can trade the car in to wash your hands from RAC.

Conclusion: WE all make mistakes, but this was a nightmare to us all. In the end, we can all spread the word and hopefully one day this place will be shut down. Outsmart RAC, hopefully this will give you some insight of what actions to take. Either way you choose, until that loan is settled, RAC will always be there to harass you 7 days a week. BTW, I still have my car, so I've outsmarted RAC!!!

Most incompetent group of college of Pseudo-professionals I have ever done business with. AVOID REGIONAL ACCEPTANCE. My wife and I financed a car with Regional Acceptance. Worst mistake I have ever made financially. We never missed or were late with a payment and the car was destroyed two years later in a natural disaster. We had comprehensive coverage and two different gap coverage policies with different companies. The car was paid off by our insurance but Regional Acceptance added a 30 day late payment to our credit report.

A week after it was totaled we had to sign a power of attorney with our insurance company. The car was paid off and the insurance company owned the title. WHY ADD A 30 DAY LATE TO OUR CREDIT REPORT? I guess they were mad because they didn't make much off of us on the interest. Oh well, I will get the mark removed but I will never deal with this company again. I advise anyone not to deal with them. They are not BBB accredited and have over 60 complaints. I have had the loan since 2010. High interest yes, but I agreed to it. I have also never missed a payment thankfully. They have never called, bothered me, double billed or anything out of the ordinary. I have since bought a car through Ally Bank, real low interest, and there was no difference between the two banks other than interest. I am selling the Regional car this week and if anything bad happens during the transaction, I assure you I will update this review but so far I am satisfied with Regional and would use them again if my credit can't get me any better as long as the sale goes through alright.

I have received up to 4 calls in 1 day. That includes Sundays and late evenings. Last Saturday, I received 2 within a minute of each other. The next day was Sunday and I got a call from them at 7:03 p.m. I was in the hospital for a week for cancer removal and treatment. Even after being told that by my wife, they still continued to call me. Talk about heartless.

The only way to send a message to this company is a Class Action suit. If you have a car loan with Regional Acceptance the facts are simple. You have paid years of high interest payments. Reading the other comments of how the car loan was sold to you is accurate for all of us who were lied to in the beginning. I actually had someone at Regional Acceptance ask me if I had been lied to in the beginning by the car dealer. So even the people that work at the company know that car dealers are misleading consumers.

My interest rate is 24% and I have been paying on my car for 5 years. I only have 23 more payments to go... $500 a month for a $16,000 loan. I was an inexperienced and honest consumer that believed the salesperson who be ethical. Regional Acceptance reported that I had late payments, which I did not have. So I hired a legal firm to fight the inaccurate information on my credit report. 5 letters were sent to the Corp Office, all were returned. I sent one more letter to a different address and got a response that they would not respond to my letter because it looked like a form letter. I think the mission of Regional Acceptance is "Lie, Cheat and Steal from as many people as possible, we will NEVER get caught." Please file a Class Action Suit against Regional Acceptance.

Regional provided me with a service, when no one else would. YES, I have to pay a ridiculously high interest rate and deal with constant phone calls if I am one day late, but its what we signed up for. I went in with all eyes open. However, I wasn't counting on the car sucking. It's a 2007, which I bought in 2008 and it has had nothing but problems and costing me $$$$$$, on top of the high monthly payments. I really made a deal with the devil because I was advised by the dealer at Mazda, that after 1yr of payments, I would be able to remove my co-signer, which after about 5 years of payments still hasn't happened!! (Which was not done in writing anywhere!) So I would have a car, grandma would be out of the equation and I would pay it off until I die. So, now my 87-year-old grandmother has to get these phone calls when I am not on time. Come on Regional! If I've been paying for 5 years with occasional lapses, please ease up on an ol' lady!!

I took this from their website as a part of the company mission statement: "Regional Acceptance Corporation is committed to creating the best auto finance company possible, the best of the best, by prescribing to honest and ethical lending practices, transparent business dealings and an unwavering respect for the laws that govern our business, the customers we serve and the associates who keep our business moving forward. In concert with this commitment, we will strive to maintain a corporate environment that exudes the characteristics of honesty, integrity and mutual respect, whereby all individuals, regardless of their relationship with our company, are held in the highest regard."

The above statement is not what they are about. This company preys on consumers who are having credit problem and they steal from them by all the complaints you have read on this site. For ex, I made a mistake when I made my payment via the website and hit enter twice which showed 2 payments. RA gave me the run around and refused to return money to my account. The scam was each time I called, I was given to a different person to address the issue. They used names like Dan, Van, Sue, Louis, Ben, Ann, etc and I was put on hold with no one returning to the phone. At one time I was told to go to the bank to get a statement showing that I in fact made 2 payments but when I went to the bank, both the bank and myself where given the run around by giving us non-working fax #s and being put on hold to no end. The money was never return and no one return my call. This company needs to be investigated and as a consumer, I will not rest until they are and brought to light.

In 2010 I financed my vehicle through Regional Acceptance. I put $7000 dollars cash down on my car which was $22900. My loan was then for $15900. I have made 30 payments at $500 a month. A few months ago I lost my job. For the first time in 3 years I fell behind in my payments. I asked Regional Acceptance to grant me a deferment which one of the representatives said they will do for 2 months as losing your employment is one of the conditions they grant deferments under.

After speaking to several people my deferment was denied. I had continuous conversations with their "customer service" department where I was reassured that my loan was not in collections and I was not in jeopardy of default. It was my amazement when my mother came yelling in my room that a tow truck was towing my car out of my driveway!! My parents lent me money and I called Regional Acceptance right away and offered to pay the past due amount plus any fees associated with the repossession. I was told that I would have to pay the balance in full of $16000. That confused me because under NY state law I have the right to reinstate paying only the past due and associated fees and I was even more baffled by the dollar amount of $16000 since my loan was $15,900 and I have made over 30 payments of $500 dollars!!!

Regional Acceptance refused to let me speak to ANY supervisors. I was repeatedly told that they were on break, out to lunch, in a meeting or off for the day. I retained an attorney and they refused to speak to him!! They then sent me a certified letter saying I could reinstate my loan and get my car back for past due amounts and repossession and collection costs. I immediately paid that amount and when I called back to find out where my car was and how I could get it. I was told "we send that letter to everyone it means nothing". Then AGAIN told me I would have to pay the balance of my loan!!! When I spoke to the supervisor she then said to me "you are never getting your ** car back" and told me to tell it to the judge! Well I am going to! Don't use this company under any circumstances!!!!

After almost four years of paying $552.14, Regional Acceptance repossessed my car! In December 2012, I began to get calls at home, work, my mom's, my daughter's, and anybody else who was somehow connected to me, even after requesting that I only be contacted on the number I provided. The representative was rude and would not allow me to respond to his accusations. But the fact that my account was being reported as being three months late because for three months I failed to pay $0.14 was a red flag! So for 42 cents, I was labeled delinquent?

When I asked the "representative " why wasn't this mentioned in any of the previous times I spoke with the company, he began to lecture me on how I should have known how much I owed. I thought, wow! Really?! Arrangements were made, and I will admit I fell behind again, but in June 2013, I made two payments within two weeks trying to get caught up, which brings me to the present. I noticed my car was gone. Called Regional Acceptance, only to find out that they had my car taken due to nonpayment? When I asked how I could get my vehicle back, the rep responded $1,552.14 plus fees. Okay? After putting me on hold, the representative returned to tell me I would not be able to pick my car up unless I paid my car off in full!!! That's $18,000!

When I asked why this decision was made, the representative began to read the notes in my account, which were written by an agent with the company, which claimed that on several dates, this said agent observed my car in a garage at my residence. On one occasion, the agent allegedly followed me to work but was refused access by security?! On another occasion, I was observed sitting on my porch, drinking coffee and reading a paper. All lies! 1. There is no garage at my place of residence; 2. I don't sit on my porch; and 3. The agent reported following a 2010 silver Hyundai Sonata, while I drive a red 2009 Hyundai Elantra! Wrong person! Wrong car!

The agent refused to investigate any further and began to tell me how she was not going to argue with me. After speaking with two supervisors who spoke to me like I was nobody/lower than dirt, I was told that the decision was final due to the risk of me hiding my vehicle again! I was also informed that there are no steps to take to dispute the decision that was made. Then she told me to have a nice day and hung up on me. With all that said, I know within my heart that there is power in the name of Jesus, and He will intervene on my behalf!

This GARBAGE (Regional Acceptance) that has the nerve to call themselves a bank are nothing but money sucking leeches!!! I don't understand how it is possible for them to steal hard working Americans’ money legally!! I had a previous repo back in 2006 when I was 18 years young and doing stupid things. So getting a car loan was nearly impossible, until this "bank" came along and sweet talked me. I purchased a 2007 Nissan Altima back in 2011 for about $18k; after taxes and title purchase, the final price was $21k which I know was a STUPID buy. But I did not want a brand new car because I wanted something cheap that I would be able to pay off fast. They wouldn't let me get anything older than 5 years and every other car was more than 20k! So I decided to take the Altima.

My payments were $560 a month for 6 years!!! Do the math!! I was going to end up paying 40 THOUSAND DOLLARS FOR A USED CAR!!! At 1st I said no way! But of course the person at the dealership sugar coated everything! She said I would be able to refinance the car within a year because my credit would have gone up for making on-time payments. I was assured that I would be able to refinance that car. 12 months passed and I received a call from the dealership where I purchased the car, explaining to me I was eligible to refinance my car. I was VERY HAPPY! I went down to the dealership only to find out that the WHOLE YEAR I WAS MAKING PAYMENTS, my loan only went down $500 bucks!!!

I will break down the payments for you so you can get an idea... $560 a month x 12 months = $6,720. SO out of those six thousand seven hundred bucks, only $500 of it went towards my loan; the rest ($6,220) went straight into the pockets of this GARBAGE BANK!!! Since that was my case at this time, my car was one year older and had lost a lot of its value!! I was upside down about $8,000!!! Which means my car was only worth 12 thousand the most and I still owed 21 thousand on it!!! Since this was my case, no bank in the WORLD wanted to refinance a vehicle that is not worth what you owe on it! BASICALLY, I WAS STUCK WITH THE CAR FOR ANOTHER 5 YEARS OF $560 PAYMENTS!!

I went as far as to contacting this "bank" and asking them if I would be able to refinance with them. And of course they are SO SMART at stealing people's hard-earned money they tell me, "We (the bank) do not have a license to refinance any vehicles." I was so upset!!! As time went by, I tried over and over again to find a bank of a dealership to help get out of this mess I was in. The car started to need maintenance that I wasn't willing to spend money on since I was already paying $560 a month, NOT INCLUDING INSURANCE! Finally after 2 miserable years with this car, I became a good customer with a different dealership - Nissan of Route 46 in NJ to be exact. And the person I was working with made a miracle happen!!!

I was able to finally BREAK free of the LEECH (Regional Acceptance) I put $2,500 towards whatever car they would give me as long as it was brand new and was a leased vehicle! With some rebates the dealership was offering, I was able to drive home a new 2013 Nissan Rogue! I was HAPPY/EXCITED!!! I was mostly THANKFUL to the person at the dealer who helped me with this problem!!! I will NEVER EVER RECOMMEND Regional Acceptance to ANYONE!! Even if you have bad credit!! All you need is a $2,000/$3,000 down payment (it would help if you have a co-signer) to walk out of a lot with a new or used car without having to pay the price of a BMW for a used car!! This is a lesson learned and I would NOT wish this BAD experience/lesson on ANYONE! GOOD LUCK!

They also seemingly always post late charges whether payment is late or not. This is by far the most pathetic company I have ever dealt with in 51 years.

I was forced into Chapter 13 bankruptcy in 2009 in which Regional Acceptance was paid $6200 for the Blue Book value. In April of 2012, I was unable to continue working and applied for SSI for disability. On Dec. 12, 2012, the bankruptcy was dismissed and Regional Acceptance called me and said that I was not under bankruptcy protection anymore and needed to revert back to original contract or pay off the loan which was $3400. I had to rent a car because I had an appointment set up for Jan. 2 to talk to my lawyer and told them I felt since that was not that far away that I should do that first.

On Dec. 31st, they came and picked up my car without notifying me and it took 2 days to find out that it had been repossessed and I now owe $3800. They said that I must come up with that amount or my car will be sold on Jan.11th. I just found out that I am approved for disability on Dec.12th. I am currently going through the process of buying another car since I have my 90-year-old father to take care of and we live 12 miles from town. There are some good people in this world shown by the car dealership who have given me a loaner car for now.

My wife has a car financed with them and they call 15 to 20 times a day 7 days a week. They call my job, call relatives, they are rude and will not let us refinance the car for a cheaper payment. They keep saying they are coming to pick up the car. You call them to tell them you will make a payment next week, that you can postdate or promise to pay and they laugh at you on the phone. They say vulgar things like "you are cheap," "can't take care of your own problems" and that your problems are not theirs. A lawsuit needs to be filed with this company and reward the customers for having to put up with their **.

The first issue is that I have been making payments on a four-year loan for two years and the $18,000 loan is only $17,000 when it should be $10,000 based on the payments I have been paying! In addition, I fell behind and ran out of checks. I tried to pay online and they would not allow me. I tried communicating online and they stated they could not discuss my account through email. I have had to have over $800 in repairs on the vehicle, which made me fall behind because the payments are so high. I am tired of being ripped off.

I paid my loan off last year and recently applied for a mortgage. I was shocked to discover that my Regional Acceptance status now shows open and repossession on the credit bureaus. It's my only negative entry on my credit report and I have tried to have this error corrected for 10 months but the company refuses to make the changes. They keep blaming the credit bureaus. I have filed a lawsuit. Do not do business with these people. It's been the worst business experience of my life.

I took a loan out with them 5 to 6 years ago. I couldn’t afford the $500 a month payment they approved me for, so I called them and asked them to please pick up the vehicle. I understand that this would hit my credit as a repo, however, 6 years later, I pull my credit and they have it listed as open/revolving/unpaid.

So all those years and months are being reported that I haven’t paid. They are the worst.

On June 26, 2011, I purchased a vehicle with a car loan approval from Regional Acceptance Corporation and I picked it up on the 30th of June.

On July 23rd, I got a letter dated July 19, 2011, stating that they changed their mind because of my irregular or temporary employment. I am a pool nurse at one job, part-time at another, and a full-time student. Can they change their mind three weeks later?

I was unemployed and fell behind on payments. I was very uneducated about how auto loans work and Regional Acceptance has kept me in the dark about it. In the past eight months, I have paid them around $4,100. My balance has gone down $239 during that same period. I thought you could just keep making payments and it would be applied to the principle. They did nothing to notify me that my money was being wasted; and on my paper bill, it shows that I owe no late fees. It's very misleading. None of my bills show late fees due, even though I have had a past due balance the entire time. If my money isn't being used to pay off the car, then I want a detailed account of where it is going. I've learned my lesson the hard way. Companies should not be able to steal people's money this way. They also charge $10 every time I make a payment; but they have made that the only way I can make a payment. They have suspended my internet access, which would allow me to avoid the $10 service fee.

I manage to get my original loan corporation (Muncipan Credit Union) to buyout Regional Corp for my auto loan. The fact is that they seem shady and attach other fees to my account after I promptly notified them of any late payment. The loan payment was excessive at 300 (dollars) a month, adding to my own expenses. However, my original loan company paid them in full for all finance charges and fees.

Prior to them being bought out by my loan corporation I have been paying monthly out of pocket payments that should be refunded. The fact is that my automobile was bought at a sum of 12,000 (dollars) and they received a payout-check for 14,000 (dollars) from my original loan corporation. They refuse to return the balance with excuses of unaware fees I never knew anything about nor did I read in my contract at signing. Now, I am being refused my balanced refund with an excuse of other fees, unknowingly were pending on my contract with them that I was unaware of.

I been delay and late on rent due to paying out the large monthly fee and car note. I was nearly evicted. The fact they expect payment promptly, regardless of economic hardship, and promises of payment to be made though late within the month. So, I had to compromise, the fact that I need an automobile to get to and from work. These people made themselves a priority above any excuse to bear with a late payment causing me financial hardship.

I am currently 38 days past due on my car loan account. This lender calls me on a daily basis at least 4 to 5 times per day. I speak to them maybe twice a week to explain my situation, have been unemployed for 14 months, just recently began working again and need some time to get caught up. They still call the very next day, even after I give them a date that I can pay.

They have spoken to every member in my household as to the details of my loan, including my daughter, who is only 13 years old. She does not need to know that I am behind on my car payment or any of my other finances. I also have been receiving e-mails to call Regional Acceptance. I have seen two of these and was not aware I was even getting them because I do not go on my computer at home very often. I did not give them my e-mail address. Most of the calls I receive from them are recorded messages to call their representatives and the phone number provided does not even give you an option to speak to a representative or an operator or I answer the phone and there is silence on the other end. I have waited for as long as three minutes for someone to say something on the other end before I finally hang up.

This is getting out of hand because I have been further behind on this loan in the past and they seem to call more now than ever! I even had a woman try to tell me that I needed to keep up my end of this obligation and needed to make a payment now and to pay in full the total balance due. She began lecturing me on my end of this obligation. I am awakened every weekend by them calling at or around 9 am both Saturday and Sunday, even after I talk to someone on Saturday! And they also call up until 10 pm on weeknights. I have just started a job in the last month. My hours are 10:00am to 7:00pm.

They have been told that I am not available to be contacted between those hours and an hour after they call the first time at 1 pm or so, they call again! I have never been pursued by any company or lien holder as persistently as them. I will not answer the phone for them anymore. I will send them payments each month and try to get caught. I am currently looking into refinancing through someone else, since I am finally working again and have some leverage to do so. Just the emotional distress caused by trying to deal with them without losing my cool is very stressful to me and my family. We all cringe when the phone rings anymore. It is every day they call to remind me that I owe them money. Thank you for your time.

In 2005 I financed a vehicke with regional acceptance corp. A few months later that vehicle was totaled in an accident. In my credit report the vehicle is showing as having been repossesed last month (12/2008)- its showing that my high credit was 10,000.00, the bal owed is 10,000.00. The car was not repossesed at all, certanly not last month. How can they knowingly report inaccurate information? When i called the number and entered my persional information, it says "this vehicle was listed by the insurance company as a total loss, press 1 to continue". They need to report accurate info and STOP ruining peoples credit!
