The interest rates are ridiculous. I have been pay $112.00 for the last 3 years and I still owe the same amount or more. It makes no sense. They are the worst. Out of that $112.00 only 30 dollars goes to the purchase. It's crazy how these companies are allowed to rob people. I have no problem paying for what I purchase but to see no change after years of making payments is terrible.

I was a satisfied Paypal Credit customer for many years. I am very disappointed in a recent problem that has gone unanswered. I ordered from a company and they tacked on another product and charged me for it. I talked to that company and could get nowhere since they were in China and there was no good customer service. So I turned to Paypal. I had a problem only once before and Paypal helped. This time they just kept closing the dispute. Then when I tried to appeal I got no response at all. Nothing. Once I pay down my balance, I am done with them forever. I am very upset here and I feel like they just let this company scam me. BEWARE WHO YOU DO BUSINESS WITH!

Our ministry has had Wix webhosting for 10 years paying $168 dollars a year and it used to auto renewed annually charged to our American Express. But during the last renewal, we switched to PayPal Credit by Synchrony. One month before our renewal, WIX changed our plan to the CORE plan and charged my PayPal Credit account $576 for the renewal 14 days before it was suppose to renew. I disputed the charge through Paypal AND my Synchrony Paypal credit card. Paypal noted that WIX said they would refund the charge, but because I filed a dispute with both Paypal and Paypal Credit, they asked me remove the chargeback with Paypal Creidt by Synchrony, but Synchrony ended up siding with WIX and closed the dispute, and did not remove the charge! Now, when I call Paypal, they say call the PayPal Credit Card. When I call the PayPal Credit Card, they say call WIX.
There is no way to reach WIX for they have not returned any of my emails and there is no way to reach them by phone. I cannot reach them via their website because when you file a dispute with a credit card WIX automatically shuts off your web hosting account. The only way to reach them is through their web bot Customer Service and if your account is removed, you CANNOT reach them! PayPal did not properly investigate, they just took WIX side and closed the dispute. I have had PayPal for 22 years and have been an eBay PowerSeller, but once this is cleared up, I don't see using Paypal Credit or Paypal again. For Wix raising rates 2.5X without notice and AUTO billing us because they can is wrong. WIX plain out robbed us. PayPal Credit just folded with their investigation. I need a card that will stand up for their consumers.

Anti-consumer lender. Fees structured to squeeze maximum ill-gotten gains from individual borrowers. This is not an upstanding consumer lender that makes its living by charging interest like reputable financial institutions. This is more like the sorts of schemes used to prey on everyday borrowers. 100% fees charged on day late payments. Multiple harassing attempts to eliminate paper notifications so that the near-criminal legerdemain can be carried out unseen. Avoid, avoid, avoid.

The first hint that I got that I had made a bad decision getting my PayPal credit card was a drop in cash back from 2% to1.5%, next was fraudulent request from unknown people for money sent from me. PayPal was able to cancel one I got from a gas station and recently from a Debra ** for $144 which PayPal charged my card that I grieved 2x. That was the last straw and I closed out the card. This has got to be the most unsecured financial institution I have ever dealt with, VERY SHAKY and I wouldn’t recommend using them!

I had this credit card twice. The first time, about 15 years ago, they closed my account. I had a 1000 credit limit. I paid on time, every month. They lowered my credit to 250 then after I paid it off completely, they closed my account. I didn't know it was closed until I went to use it about a year later. I called them and asked why my account had closed as it was in good standing. The rep told me that was a "mistake" and gave me a new card and account with a limit of 1800.
I have had this card for about 8 years now and they recently lowered my limit to 1400. I paid a 1000 and then received notice they are lowering again to 490! The email said it was because my balance on other cards was "too high" and said I had "collections" on my account. For the record, I have zero collections on my account! This is the absolutely worse credit card company I have ever dealt with. I paid off my remaining balance and I will be closing this credit card. Synchrony Bank used to be GE Capital Retail Bank. Look them up and you will see they were fined millions for its credit card practices. This card is not worth the small credit limit and high interest rate.

Last week paid off the entire balance, app showed I had a 2400.00 credit line again, then yesterday went back to check, they lowered my credit line to 100.00 and charged me 48.00 payment due. I paid the 48.00 and closed my account. I will NEVER use them again!!!

Due to ongoing billing issues, I'm extremely disappointed with PayPal Credit, which Synchrony Bank services. Since October 13, 2023, I have been charged and credited $388.00 eight times. After thoroughly reviewing my statements from September 2023 to June 2024, I found no extra credits to justify these repeated charges. My account balance now shows an unjustified extra charge of $388.00.
I've spent countless hours trying to resolve this issue, speaking with multiple agents who failed to provide a legitimate explanation or resolution. Each time, my calls were disconnected before any satisfactory outcome was reached. This has caused significant frustration and inconvenience. Although I've used this account often without prior issues, this experience has been incredibly disappointing. I hope PayPal Credit and Synchrony Bank address these problems promptly and work to improve their customer service and billing practices.

I had PayPal buyer credit for over 5 years and payments were made on time, ALL OF THEM, at least 5x higher than minimum payment each month. Never had a late payment and no complaint during that time. I decided recently to lower my revolving debt to boost my credit score as recommended by credit monitoring subscription service I use. I paid off with commission check and felt proud to do so. As soon as I paid off balance with them, they closed my account, which then hurt my credit terribly. They claimed it was from one NSF payment. The NSF happened due me believing credit card was paid in full but still under $40 some left in new interest fees after balance paid in full. Still, payment of this was made on time, never late. They closed account without any notification to me. Never a late payment on the account.
Claimed they can't get ahold of me through phone or email but everyone other agency can and have had same phone number for over 20 years. This is deplorable that they hurt my credit over something so insignificant and don't even notify that they have closed account or intend to. Wanted to fund vacation as usual with PayPal this month but have lost that ability. Not only this, but agents treated me like dirt on the phone- after 5 years of pristine payment history. I'll be using Cap One in the future. This is disgusting.

Buyer beware. PayPal refunded me money in December for damaged goods. 6 months later Paypal claimed I had been refunded twice which was not the case. Then they took back the money they refunded me in the first place. A week later they demanded I pay them this amount which they added to the Paypal account. The whole thing is murky. If you want to use their service and register your credit cards with them that is ok. Unfortunately the Paypal credit thingy makes up their own rules. It is also difficult to view transactions and credits in an attempt to see what you owe and what you don't owe. In short Paypal credit sucks.

I have to agree with the review that states they charge you interest regardless of making the payments they suggest to avoid the interest charge. I just had this same issue when all of a sudden I was hit with an excessive amount to be paid for promotional purchases by the promotional deadline in order to avoid interest. It made no sense to me as I had made significant payment amounts in the past…oftentimes paying more than what they suggested to avoid interest. I thought these significant payments were going towards the promotional purchases…I was trying to avoid the interest. So, I called to find out how they allocated payments because it just wasn’t adding up. They could not really give me a clear explanation. They claimed they would send me a detailed breakdown of how payments are distributed. What I received in the mail was a standard letter regarding my account…no breakdown. They are real shady.

I would like to warn other people to stay clear of Paypal Credit. Yes, it can be beneficial to use them for promotional purchases only which means you have 6 months to pay it off without paying any interest, however, if you make a non-promotional purchase, good luck trying to get it paid off. Even if you pay the amount every month to avoid interest which includes your expiring promotional balance plus the non-promotional balance, they will apply your payment elsewhere instead of applying it to the non-promotional balance. What does this mean for you? It means you will be charged interest and even if you call every month to reallocate your payment, they will screw it up and never pay off the non-promotional balance which means more interest payments to them. DO NOT USE PAYPAL CREDIT!!! They are a total scam!!!

I initially signed up for PayPal Credit to purchase an item using the 'Pay in 4' option. I set up the 4 monthly payments to automatically draft from my bank account and didn't think anything of it. I received text messages each month notifying me that a payment was made successfully and received a text after four months that I had paid off the item. Imagine my surprise when I finally use the service again a few days ago to purchase an item that was $265, then get a text from Synchrony that my account surpassed $500 (I had set an alert to notify me when this happens). Confused, I logged into PayPal Credit. Sure enough, I see a balance of $700.
I look through all my history and see another item I had purchased and forgot about purchasing which was $80. How in the hell are they getting $700? I go into each month's statement. Nothing informative. Problem is that you can't view your entire history or all statements. It only goes back six months. Given that I hadn't used the service in nearly a year, these recent statements were of no value to me. I had to call to get ALL of my transaction history and statements which they are now MAILING to my home address. Why they can't send a PDF is anyone's guess.

Worse experience in the last 35 years. Bought tickets from Stubhub through PayPal Credit May 2 2023. The event was cancelled two days later and I asked for a refund. PayPal Credit asked for proof of the event being canceled. I sent them pdf of 4 news articles about the event being canceled. They said they would investigate. Well a year and 17 days later they are still billing me for something I never received, and even though they supposedly investigated about 6 times, they have never let me know how their investigation turned out. They put missed payment on my excellent credit report after a year and 15 days.
Don’t buy anything online through PayPal Credit. Use a standard credit card. PayPal is owned by Synchrony Bank and they are just as bad as PayPal credit and don’t back your purchases. I canceled everything to do with Synchrony Bank such as my Amazon card, my Harbor Freight card and my PayPal credit account. Don’t fool with anyone that won’t back your purchase or guarantee you only pay for what you receive. Worse experience ever.

Terrible customer service and policies. Their system duplicated my monthly payment, so I asked to be refunded the extra payment back. They were willing to refund but stated they could only do so by check??? In this day and age, you can’t do a digital refund? Fast forward a month later and I never received the check they claimed was mailed out the next day. Called to follow up, and at this point I’m thinking why bother with a check? Just apply the money back to my account. I asked the rep to stop payment on the hypothetical check that was mailed and I’ll just take the hit of paying out double last month. This way they wouldn’t have to reissue out another check. The rep puts me on hold to find out if that could be done. Again… why would that even be questioned?
I was on hold for 15 mins, only to have the call disconnected. I call back and after having to explain to the new rep the situation several times, she finally understood that I had had enough and just wanted the duplicate payment applied back to my account and forget the refund. Exhausting! All due to their system’s original error.

I called into Paypal Credit to inquire about a charge I did not recognize. I asked for the exact name of the business (it was not clear on the account statement), and a phone number. The representative told me she had no information and couldn't provide any other details other than what I say on my statement. I told her I was sure Paypal Credit had to have the information and since she couldn't find it I asked to be transferred to a supervisor. The representative hung up on me. I called back and the call was answered by a representative from Synchrony who is the bank Paypal Credit uses. I explained the situation to that representative and she told me Synchrony Bank doesn't have the information I was requesting and to call Paypal Credit to get it.
It was a huge circle jerk, and BOTH the Paypal Credit and Synchrony Bank representatives were rude and dismissive. They were not well versed in the English language and I had to ask them to repeat themselves several times. They used terms that did not make sense, and because of that there was a tremendous amount of confusion. The Synchrony Bank representative said 'I'll go ahead and resubmit the claim for the fraudulent amount of $224.00". I said "I'm confused, you are going to 'resubmit' the claim, what do you mean? When was it submitted, I've never inquired about this charge of $224.00 before today?" She responded, "you had a claim for $96 that was submitted 2 months ago and it was resolved in your favor, so this claim of $224.00 will be 'resubmitted'".
I told her I now understood what she was doing, but explained that when she used the term "resubmitted" it confused me because there had never been a claim for $224.00 submitted in the first place. She said "it is resubmitted because you already had a claim...blah, blah, blah... do you understand now? I said "yes", and before I could continue she said "thank you for calling Synchrony and have a nice day" - and she hung up on me!! The dismissive and rude behavior from customer service from Paypal Credit and Synchrony Bank is unacceptable. I am cancelling this account, it's crappy anyway, and I don't need to do business with companies that hire people that don't have command of the English language and waste your time going round and round because they are incompetent, ignorant, rude, and not properly trained.

While verifying my PayPal credit balance, I realized that accidentally a double payment of almost 2k was made to Synchrony bank. As a PayPal customer, I would think that synchrony bank would correct the error and immediately refund their customer (just like my current bank does). Instead, I contacted synchrony bank, and they explained that they keep payments sent in error for two months and then reach out to the customer to see if they would be interested in receiving reimbursement via check or allow them to keep it by reflecting it as purchase credit in PayPal.

I called and spoke with a lady who assured me it was corrected and there was nothing else for me to do. Then after my due date sent me a notification that I was late on my payment and would receive a late fee. I called up and they were unable to help me with correcting the situation. They took off the late fee but to my credit score, it was a late payment. They also upped my minimum payment to a lot higher because they now say I missed a payment. I've been with PayPal Credit since it was Bill Me Later. My balance on one transaction, that expired on April 2, 2024, was $1011. I made a payment and PayPal credited that payment to a transaction that doesn't expire until July, instead of the transaction that was set to expire in April. I messaged them to have them allocate my payment to the transaction that is about to expire (and happens to have the highest interest charge). Instead, they allocated my payment to other transactions and the balance on my $1011 balance transaction is now $1900. Their system purposely allocates payments to the transaction with the lowest interest due so you will end up owing interests on the "no interests transactions".
At this point, I am not sure all my payments have been allocated to my balance. I am paying off my transactions and staying away from this system. Be warned that their system is purposely forcing a consumer to pay off the "no interest for 6 month" transactions in a manner that is not beneficial to the consumer. The system is a bait and switch!

Without a doubt, PayPal Credits Fraud departments behind the mass scams going on with clients’ accounts. Just like most the others that’s left feedback, money has come up missing and I caught them lying about it from the beginning. I put money into an online wallet, which they did a return within two hours, I hadn't bought anything with it, and it was simply for future work. I confronted them right away about the money missing in August and they said I called it in as fraud, which was a full and complete lie. I have proof I began to say I never said it was fraud, that someone in PayPal Credit did, right away. I began to ask for proof of me calling it in as fraud because I could have withdrawn it. That’s when they admitted on 3 occasions someone from the fraud department did the return, then they would say I did, then they would say they did.
Now again they are claiming I did and had bought something with it; however, I don’t even believe they contacted the company because you don’t purchase when you put money in the wallet. You put money in your wallet then decide to purchase, so what they were saying was a lie. The other company provided a refund number saying they refunded it right away in August. I have 8 official letters from them saying it was returned and PayPal Credit, lying saying they didn’t and kept it for products I received and it’s not true at all.
The way they described why they kept the money didn’t make sense for how this company does business in the first place. They would say talk to the other company running me in circles. Not to mention, I never requested the money be returned, PayPal Credit Fraud Department did, now it's lost. I shouldn’t be responsible for it, they did it. I have official writing where I am telling the company I never requested the money be taken out of my wallet in August. Come to Oct 7, 2023. They had made a new account and forwarded the $1,227.00 to make me pay for it. It’s crazy how the money I caught them lying about, ended up missing, months later forwarded to my account, has come up completely missing and they are making me pay for something they did in the first place. Not only do I have to pay for the missing money, that they did a return on, now they are making me pay interest on it.
I turned official police reports in and contacted the Better Business Bureau. The fraud departments pocketing all this money, it’s clear to see with all these same stories of PayPal Credit, making new accounts without client’s permission or knowledge, forwarding balances acting like they don’t understand anything your saying, spinning you in circles and making up stuff that doesn’t make sense. There is too many of us experiencing money just missing. It’s going somewhere into someone’s pocket. Which isn’t fair to us as consumers. Be very aware of the scams and fraud being done by them and use caution.

I've had a PayPal credit card and credit line for years, linked to my bank account for monthly payments. A few months ago, my Paypal account became disconnected from my bank account somehow, and so I tried to re-connect the two on their website. Every time it gave me an error message. So I started contacting their customer service, via email, the chat option, and by phone. Over a period of months and many, many attempts, they were unable to resolve the issue, and I started to wrack up numerous late fees and penalties, and their collection line started blowing up my phone. But when I'd talk to their agents, they were consistently unhelpful, either telling me a) there was nothing they could do, b) all I had to do was go to their website to link the accounts (not true), or c) they'd say they were transferring me to another department, and the line would hang up on me. Many of them, on a side note, were quite rude and unprofessional.
Finally today, after months of frustration, I got ahold of the nicest, most helpful lady, who quickly identified what was clearly a minor issue on the Paypal side, and in about 10 seconds fixed the problem that none of her colleagues could either identify or fix. So I then spoke to a supervisor about getting the late fees removed and filing a complaint (because they weren't my fault! It was totally a Paypal issue). He said he couldn't do that, and I'd have to write a physical letter to corporate. Paypal "customer service" is difficult to get ahold of, often long hold times, typically unfriendly and unhelpful reps, supervisors who are not empowered to fix or escalate issues, the website is awful...They're just in general a disaster. I would not recommend anyone getting a Paypal credit account or credit card...if you ever have to reach out to customer service for any problem or question, it will be a stressful mess. I can not believe this company is allowed to exist. Where is the Consumer Protection Affairs department to protect consumers from this unethical, deceptive, and fraudulent credit service??? I have NUMEROUS issues with this company that after months of dealing with them I have gotten Zero help resolving. Worst part, every time I try and contact this company to resolve my problem, once I have explained my issue, the phone call conveniently drops. Here is my list of issues:
1. I made a purchase from a merchant using the 6 month same as cash. I returned the purchase. PP did not allocate my refund toward the purchase. Instead, they applied it to another purchase that was the furthest out for the promotional 0% interest for 6 months. Example: Purchase 1 made in June. Purchase 1 would be due in December. Purchase 2 made in October. Purchase 2’s balance due April. And so on. I return purchase 1 and receive a refund. They do not refund the credit to purchase 1. Instead, they refund is applied to the October’s purchase due in April.
This is a very simplified example. I made numerous purchases over a period of 6 months preparing for my wedding. Numerous items returned. The refunds were applied to my latest purchase and not to the purchase that was returned. This completely screws the consumer. They push out refunds to purchases that would not be due for another 6 months leaving you owing IN FULL, the merchandise purchased 6 months prior to that.
2. I was keeping up with my refunds and credits. Saw this was occurring and contacted them. Their excuse was “we apply the refunds to any purchase that would incur the largest interest if not paid off by its due date.” WHAT!!!! So when my statement comes due- I owe the full balance of that purchase!!!”
3. I meticulously keep up with my balances. Debits, credits, returns. I discovered not only problem 2, but also that my refunds were not all being credited!!!! I called on both issues. Their resolution- adjustments to my account that would have brought it to the correct balance. Almost 1/2 of what was currently shown. I receive my next bill. They reapplied the adjustments and applied those credits bringing my balance back up to what it was!!! Not only that. My balance due to avoid interest is THE FULL AMOUNT OF ALL ADJUSTMENTS! What would have been $230, now, $2100!!!! The amount of refunds I had, that were adjusted, but credited back before my statement was due. This is THEFT! I cannot believe they are allowed to do this. There needs to be a class action lawsuit. I have read numerous reviews that this is not only happening to me but many others.

It is not part of PayPal, they pawned it to a 3rd party service or so it seems. If you call PayPal to express your concerns or problems they give you a different phone number to call. I bought an item from Ebay and used the PayPal credit to pay for it. The item I purchased was damaged and the seller knew about it prior to shipping. I refused to keep it, sent it back with a provide shipping label. The only thing I did not know was that I paid for the return shipping. If the seller knew the damage was there he should have reported or gave that information prior to selling it and he should have been responsible for the return shipping. I would have never bought the item with the damage. I left the seller negative feedback and Ebay did not stick him with the negative feedback but made me paid for the return. POOR BUSINESS PRACTICE.

I was purchasing items through PayPal for years. I never had any issues. I used their credit card to purchase many items. Then I looked into my bank account and my savings account was compromised through the PayPal app. $30,000. I closed everything and had to start all over again. My savings account information was stored within their website to pay PayPal. My bad. The site is unsecure. Their only concern is when you have a negative balance due to their insecure platform. The only reason why I had a negative balance was due to paying a website named PayPal of which their customer service agent let me know that was not them. How or why I have no idea? They didn't even know who it was. It was laughable. Unsecure website. Convenient at a high cost of having to remove decades of auto pays.
I will never be that trusting again. Be warned PayPal is not a secure website. They apologize with nothing to back up the sheer negligence. They could literally take you or leave you. I spent thousands of dollars through this platform. Find a secure credit card company that actually cares about your financial health. Don't use PayPal. If you do, do not attach any banking information unless it's a debit card. You're better off calling in every month and paying over the phone.

Recently, I got PayPal Credit to help work around some occasional financial tension from this horrible economy. Unfortunately, I learned very quickly that I should’ve gotten a real credit card instead. While this may be good for online shopping, it is very limited on almost anything beyond this and is basically funny money that cannot be accessed. I did find out I can use it on the McDonald's and possibly the Target app. Most apps however don’t even provide this as an option and it cannot be used to refuel your car. I was checking in to my regular PayPal and saw I had a credit account with past due charges. There was a previous charge from someone in France several months earlier, with several past due charges. That should have been a red flag when I had never used the account before! I called and they started an inquiry to the fraud. They closed that account and opened a new one. The next week the balance was the amount of the fraud charge. I called and they said it was a credit for the charge. I asked for it to be transferred to my regular account. They said they could only transfer it to my credit account.
I made 2 purchases on the credit to try to get the account empty and close it. The next week it showed that I owed double the amount of the fraudulent charge. I called and 4 people said the fraud was still under investigation. The last person I talked to said the charge had been paid back twice so they deducted the overpayment. In actuality, they deducted the overpayment twice, leaving the fraud charge still owed! I talked to a total of 5 people over several hours. Four said the investigation was still ongoing, the last, an account manager said the investigation was complete, but I still owed the amount shown (which included the fraudulent charge). I've encountered 2 issues with 3rd Party websites, that were overseas scams, but PayPal couldn't get it no matter how many times I explained, how many times I sent reputable screen prints stating the site was a scam and after weeks of working with them, they deny your claim because these companies have paypal figured out but PayPal hasn't a clue. I have had many credit cards, never a problem after so many years...except Paypal! I always pay off balances monthly, as I did with Paypal. After 24 hours no verification payment received, figuring my payment didn't go through...other banks list payments received and also inform customer if making a double payment. So I paid once again...and AFTER second payment, my first payment was listed. I called immediately to cancel second payment...after all I just made it. NO...paypal agent says he can't cancel until it is processed.
Well, still no refund a week later. So using Paypal I try to transfer my money, my balance, to my bank. I have given up waiting for help from phone calls where after being put on hold, I am given unwanted account information, and go through numerous transfers in an attempt to get my money. My time is valuable but Paypal makes my life miserable. So I input all of my bank info from local credit union and request transfer of the exact balance minus a $1.75 fee to Paypal. NOPE...Paypal claims they have never heard of my credit Union and deny transfer...even though they have a routing number.
So, I use a big financial institution, Synchrony Bank, input my routing number (remember this takes time resulting in more frustration). NOPE, again Paypal denies transfer never hearing of institution. Paypal lists about 7 banks and if yours is not on their list, you can't proceed with the site. So Paypal is assured they get to keep my money.
Email Paypal, getting fed up and angry...first reply says they will pass on information to the powers that be. BUT, new reply says they don't have access to my emails and therefore can't resolve my problem. I am told to call the number on the card...well, I've done that numerous times and we are back full circle. This is no way to run a business! Why in 50 years I have never had credit card problems...Chase, Citi, and Bank of America all run efficient and professional organizations. BUT not Paypal.
There are other issues too...Paypal has a banking App and a Credit Card and their agents confuse the two...claiming that problems arise because they can only see one division and surely resolution is to be found in the unseen records. That I, as the customer, just don't understand the 2 account system. WHAT a way to run a business!

Hello, I am a great customer of Synchrony Bank regarding their credit department. I either pay off my credit immediately or before my financing is up. I bought 2,993 dollars worth of retail from a clothing company online and returned all of it. The retail company refunded me every last cent. Unfortunately, Pay Pal credit did not refund me the whole amount and still charged me 402 dollars. They only have call centers which I have dealt with three times about this. The first person did not understand what I was saying and was trying to dispute all my charges, which I did not want. Then she told me she would release my funds to pay it off, which differed from our conversation. She was making everything worse.
The second time, I got a man in the call center who said it was their fault and that account services said they would take care of it within 24-48 hrs—still 48 hrs, nothing. I then called again and spoke to a lovely woman who admitted that it was the company's fault but that her supervisor said it would take 1 to 2 billing cycles. What pay pal credit is doing is illegal and considered stealing on their end. It means I would pay them twice. First to the merchant, who refunded me, and then again to PayPal credit because they did not refund me the total amount when the merchant had already paid them. What if I had a child with a medical emergency, and that 400 is the 400 I need right now to save and help that child, and I cannot because Pay Pal Credit is holding the money hostage? This PayPal Credit situation is beyond unethical, which means I am not the only one this is happening to.
By the way, I have the screenshots to prove it, and if Consumer Affairs wants to contact me feel free and I will send the proof along with the receipts from the other company. There is much private info; therefore, I am not ready to upload them on this site, but I will if it becomes necessary. Another strange thing is that since this all began, I have been having trouble logging back into the Pay Pal site, but as I said, I already have the screenshots.

I don't even know how much you have to pay per transaction because they couldn't tell me. Nowhere in the app, in my statements, or on the website (that I can find) does it mention this charge. I was diligently working to pay my balance down.
When I saw that all of my purchases were paid off, but that I still had a balance, I called them to see why that was. I spoke to a manager, and I kept getting the, well it's in the Terms & Conditions Agreement, and no acknowledgment of the fact that this information and policy are nowhere obvious. You would think that if they were a responsible company looking to protect their customers, they would communicate more clearly about this obviously significant policy and how it will affect customers. Instead, they bury it in jargon that few, if any ever read. Needless to say, I am never using this service, or PayPal in general, again. They have lost a customer for life, not that they care. I tried to speak with the seller because the package never got to me. They provided a custom tracking label (which is from his own company and if he's a professional scammer means nothing) and a FedEx label picture with the Street Address whited out (seemed like from paint or something similar).
I contacted FedEx because not only did this package with this tracking number not reach my home, it was reported as only weighing 1 lb. Playstation 5s weigh 15 lbs. FedEx provided the customer account number when I explained the situation. That allowed me to pull up the official FedEx slip as the seller originally wrote it. This is a tough call for me. PayPal Credit has basically been a decent company for me to deal with. They've gone to bat on my behalf when I did not receive a purchase and a couple of times, when I fell for an online scam. I've only ever had to call them twice in my 12 year history with them. Most recently, I called yesterday and I was disappointed to hear the ** accent on the other end of the phone. The rep was told to tell me certain things that I think are untrue, and one of those things has to do with the law in the United States. The Card Act of 2009 requires that credit card companies apply any amount paid over the minimum to be applied to the highest interest balance.
In October, I paid $230 over the minimum that should have been applied to my "standard purchases" of $170 that were garnering interest at 26.24%. The rest of my balance was a $400 no-interest for 6 months purchase. PayPal applied the entire $230 over the minimum to the no-interest balance which will not accrue any interest until April of 2023. To me, they broke the law. The ** customer service rep told me that PayPal requires me to CALL THEM when I make a payment and ask them to apply it to the higher interest balance. That is not my understanding of the Card Act of 2009. The law was changed to prevent credit issuing companies from doing this very thing: applying extra funds to the lowest interest balances so that they can get higher interest payments from the consumer.
So while I do have some favorable feelings toward PayPal and my history with them, the fact that they are breaking the law is disturbing. I only noticed because my balance at this point is so low, but when I had a high balance in the thousands of dollars, of course I wasn't looking at every single charge to see how they were paying off my interest or non-interest balances. I must assume they are mis-applying everyone's payments and if you don't notice, too bad for you. The one thing all of us should require from any credit issuing company is HONESTY. I think PayPal has displayed that they are not honest and that they are willing to break the law if it increases their profits.

I know things happen but I cannot understand how 9 fraudulent charges were allowed to be charged to my PP MC via Sam's Club online site including the purchase of a membership followed by an additional 8 purchases of gift cards back to back in separate purchases. I was told the charges declined however was later told they were not declined. Why would a cardholder need to make separate purchases of gift cards at same time, date and same merchant when 1 purchase for total could have been made. My point is what verification did PayPal require for these online purchases… NONE!!!
They were all approved with just card number in which I have no idea who made these charges. No Security number requested from back of card by PayPal just APPROVED. I would hope that I would have had more security for purchases from PayPal; just as you are not responsible for fraudulent charges…YAY… Thank GOD because you are certainly not requesting verification for these types of purchases. Synchrony Bank is the bank for both PayPal and Sam's Club Credit Cards of which I have cards from both. PEOPLE if you have either cards please, please watch your statements from both… just in case strange purchases are made and APPROVED without proper verification!!! RED FLAG should have been noticed when purchases made separately and back to back… decline unless VERIFIED >>> PAYPAL!!!

PayPal Credit Synchrony Bank falsely advertised deferred interest in purchases of $99 or more. However, its system will automatically apply payments to promotional transactions expiring further out rather than the standard balance first which is absolutely subject to interest and promotional transactions expiring the soonest. So, I am required to call customer service after every payment to ask that my payment be reallocated in a way that would be consistent with the advertising and deal with poorly trained account managers who give you a different explanation of how the process works every time I call and then it is real hit or miss whether my payment reallocation requests are processed correctly. I have to spend hours on the phone each month, sometimes multiple times a month since I make payments more frequently.
It has been a very stressful and frustrating nightmare dealing with this really horrible process. I don’t recommend anyone be put through what I have had to experience and then they have the audacity to ask for surveys and each and every time I let them know how horrible they are but nothing ever gets done so it doesn’t matter anyway. I have attempted to escalate my situation to the Better Business Bureau as they should not be allowed to get away with this.

I opened a PayPal Credit account 4 years ago when eBay had direct connection with them for payments and purchases. But since eBay no longer deals directly with PayPal it's not very good anymore for PayPal Credit. I have had 3-4 hours on the phone this past 2 weeks asking for them to fix things because eBay made mistakes in refunding to my account. So I am closing my PayPal Credit account. It's just not worth the hassle.
Synchrony Bank who runs PayPal Credit seems ok but there's a lot of ways you can miss deadlines for promotional purchases because of the way they allocate payments to certain balances but they don't tell you they do this until you end up with an issue. I paid off a loan but they without my knowledge or consent did not pay off the total of the loan amount and then they charged me interest and put an amount on my non-promotional balance, it took 2 weeks and no less than 10 phone calls and they did agree to waive the interest. But it's just too much work so I am done with PPC.

All was well until I noticed that an order I purchased for $104 was all counterfeit cards, I opened a dispute and explained I have tried to resolve it with the seller and got no response.
The seller closes out the website and so it's no longer a working website and the dispute comes back in favor of the seller since he showed a order number and said it was an authorized transaction....Well no ** I authorized it but I never agreed to pay for counterfeit items (which is illegal btw) and so had to open another dispute just for them to try and say I'm disputing it being an authorized transaction....After many attempts I finally got them to list that it's a dispute about counterfeit items and now we wait just to most likely have them side with the merchant again...I will not be paying for it one way or another, if I have to contact a lawyer over $104 then so be it.

Around March of 2021 I noticed an issue. PayPal credit payment did not clear my bank, I was paying before the due date so it was not late. Two days after the payment, PayPal credit informed me my payment was declined. I checked the account. Sufficient funds were there so I paid from a different account because that bank was NO LONGER listed in my PayPal banks listed as linked. In May 2021, I received an email that I was late on my payment, I could have sworn I made the payment. Two days later the money was taken out of my account. I had a late payment fee, two days later the same amount was taken out of my account again. The nice thing about PayPal is they will warn you if you already scheduled a payment, this time there was NOT a warning, it was like I never scheduled a payment.
July 16, 2021 I made my monthly payment. On July 29, 2021 I was informed my payment was rejected. I was also informed that since this was the 2nd returned payment this year they were closing my account. It was then listed in collections. A demand of $267.00 for a payment was made. I checked the account I paid on July 16th and the money was still there. I called PayPal to see what the problem was, I ended up talking to a foreign lady who could barely speak English, she assured me that my account was NOW current and would be reinstated. Her answer was wrong. Once closed it is closed for good.
I called Sunday to talk to a different person, Michelle explained to me I had two NSF payments this year and it was closed for good. Not a good thing to have listed on a Credit Report. Michelle said she was going to transfer me to a credit specialist to see if she could help me get things straightened out, because it should not have taken 13 days to notify me that my payment was rejected.
I got a very nice person, her name is Gerri. She started to look through my files and found the problem, the bank I was paying from was not officially linked to PayPal, and instead of a NSF payment, it was rejected because the bank was NOT linked properly. She fixed the NSF fee for July, and reinstated my account. PayPal had an issue starting the weekend I made my payment, the system was down for 8 days, this is why I was NOT notified of the banking issue. Great! "Ohhhh no. I just made a payment with the bank that was NOT properly linked, can we cancel the payment?" No, was her response. Now what? That one is going to fail too! She helped me get my bank linked to my account. Monday the money came out as it should.
Not so great. On Friday July 30th my credit report was released, on that report was the notification my PayPal was closed and placed into Collections. This little remark plunged my credit rating down. Thank you so much! It will take 15 to 30 days to get it fixed. All because a company had a software issue that caused all of this. I wonder how many other people were affected by this issue. I hope everyone who had this happen to them also get it resolved. I like PayPal, but this left a bad taste in my mouth.

They then said they will hold my money until 1/2/22, or 180 days.
They then told me that within 24-72 hours that a manager would call me after I had asked for the legal department so I can know where to send the paperwork from the lawsuit I will file, which they never gave and hung up. I never received any product from the company, but they did provide a FALSE tracking number, that even the Post Office says was NEVER delivered to my address.
I asked Paypal to refund my money, they just checked and said they saw a tracking number, so there are no repercussions. There are a couple problems with with - first and foremost, if there is a pitboss smoker being delivered in a mailbox, via USPS, instead of FedEx or UPS, that should send red flags. But secondly, when the USPS sent an email saying that tracking number was never associated with my address, and there was never anything delivered to my address from that company, that should indicate fraud. However, Paypal is so hard to be able to actually give your side of the story, they err on the side of the "merchant", and I use that word loosely, when more likely "FRAUDSTER" is the correct word. Calling them and investigation, it was confirmed and charges removed but the late fees were not. Initially told I should have contacted them sooner! Ok but they were not my charges...so finally 2 months were removed while they could easily see there was a third month out there already charged but did not address. Each time, I asked that the account be closed. Initially, Not until the charges are resolved. I see why another bill with late charges...called again. Asked to cancel...would request removal but can not close until account is clear.
A year later requested the account be closed, was told they would research and if possible the request to close would be submitted. Guess what. It wasn't...how I find out...I start receiving all kinds of emails of huge charges. #1 the credit attached is expired and intentionally so. #2 I have not accessed the account or have anything associated with my emails and PayPal on any phones, computers so when I call...I ask how do they receive this info if they do not get it from your systems!!! Other than a phone call a year ago, I do not access and do not have any idea how to access the online account. I am tired of emails, text messages of urgent nature that I better get things worked out and now $1000s charged...or requested in my name...when last I knew it was going to be closed. Hopefully the last call today...
Requesting permanent closure and a credit remains on the account. So they delete the funds...I told her, "You better put it where you can get to it cuz if you contact me for some closure fee or late fee you had addressed until the post closure audit you are deleting your funds..." So I gave no permission to delete. Made sure of that on a recorded line. Now she is going to again request the cancelation after removing all the funds and didn't even ask or suggest to mail them to me. Huh?... 3 years and I can't wait to see what happens next! I called and was told there was an extra charge to use my bank account so stupidly used my debit card. This was via a India-speaking call center. It was a long, drawn out conversation, where each set of numbers, a partial confirmation number was given. In between, various products were offered and even though I said I was not interested in buying anything, I was told to say OK and proceed. At the end the person hurriedly gave me the last nos of the confirmation and did it so fast that I did not get it and the call was disconnected.

It asked me to link to a credit card, which I refused to do due to the 2.9% fee. I kept trying, two days later, a checkout was successful by charging to my account (and that amount has been debited since). After that, the same error happens again for another purchase.
My husband opened a paypal account and linked to a different bank account successfully. He gets the same error on checking out (he does not have a Paypal Credit account). Yet Paypal has NO customer support. All we can do is sending them messages - by typing in a ONE-LINE slit. Most messages never received any response. All the responses we got were at least six hours late, and have nothing but apologies. One provided 'clearing browser cache' as the solution, which of course does not work. I NEVER worked with a company like this before. It simply ignores the customers. It's been for a week now and I still cannot purchase the paintings because the seller only accepts Paypal.
I am giving up on Etsy. I will NOT buy anything from any seller who does not accept credit cards. A 40-year veteran in the software industry I can tell you that my company treats the customers 100 times better than Paypal does. We have a problem management system which allows customers to open tickets, type in comments and read our responses. My customers can ask for phone calls, screen-sharing and even set deadlines for resolution. Yet Paypal, with no customer support, has millions of users and is a big business. Is this a trend? Why I love PayPal?
1. This company appears safe for buyers, as the site platform is both secure and encrypted. My opinion for the key data protection issue for buyers may be external to PayPal and they will need to have a secure digital connection to PayPal. So their data should be kept safe from prying eyes.
2. PayPal Payment Review is a free fraud-detection feature and notifies merchants using PayPal Checkout of potentially high risk payments. The company offering increased protection against processing and shipping fraudulent orders. Once a scammer has hacked into somebody else's PayPal account (as in the case of the phishing email scam), they can make purchases and send payments with the money from the account they have taken over... PayPal may reimburse the seller if they are able to confirm that the account that made the payment was hacked.
3. Using PayPal Payments is a very easy to receive and send money and all transactions are completed very fast.
4. PayPal Credit is fairly innocuous, but also pretty unnecessary. The best thing you get out of the line of credit is increased time to pay for larger purchases.
5. It is very important to know: PayPal Credit does report to the credit Bureaus and will affect your credit score. Late payments will be reported to Experian specifically.
6. I have a very good experience with PayPal credit for a purchasing eBay.
PayPal Credit is an unsecured line of credit that you apply for and can use online anywhere PayPal is accepted. Your credit line is linked to your PayPal account... Unlike PayPal's credit cards, PayPal Credit doesn't offer rewards. But it does offer some special payment deals, like longer interest-free terms.

I strongly encourage everyone to avoid using PayPal. While they were once a great company, they no longer offer phone customer service or competent online chat help. It takes 24-hours for them to respond to all messages and they don't have a thorough understanding of their own company or how it works. I recently sold something and PayPal was the universal company we both used so we opted to do the transaction through them. I was never able to verify my new bank account because both my husband and my name were on the bank and phone account.
They told me to verify the numbers on our bank account and once we did, they suggested to open a new phone line in just one name which is absurd. From there, we received the run around with poor grammar and spelling. The messages offered no guidance and didn't even make sense. Luckily, the Buyer was willing to send me funds through another service so the issue on my side was resolved.

We set the account up for autopayment from our checking account and moved most of our monthly bills to the account. We have had multiple problems with their security team denying charges at critical times over the last 3 months. Furthermore they only way to see transactions on my phone was to use the paypal application and click on make payments to get to Synchrony. Crazy.
Recently we were getting close to our credit limit so paid our $12K balance 15 days early to free up credit. Even though it was a bank to bank wire transfer, Synchrony accepted the payment but refused to apply it to our credit limit causing multiple charges to be declined. When I called, they said it was an unusually large payment so they decided to withhold our credit for 10 extra days. I have never heard of such garbage. I canceled the card but was told I would forfeit all of my 2% cash back rewards when doing so which is costing me $600 since I have been using the card. What a waste of time and money. Not only will they not close my account but keep telling me there are pending payments 1 from 2 years ago which both are fraudulent. I can't get a human on the phone to discuss this and close my account. Since I am stuck to have PayPal forever, even though my bank account and credit account were closed out long ago, I am going to complain every chance I get and make sure I flood the www making sure no one makes the mistake of believing they are a good company.
Since they refuse to dispute fraud properly and close my account, I will tell everyone now DO NOT USE PAYPAL... YOU WILL HAVE FRAUDULENT CHARGES THAT WILL NOT GET DISPUTED AND YOU WILL NEVER BE ABLE TO GET RID OF THEM. Tell everyone you know use Paypal at your own risk, which is very high. Not my signature on the online record of handover, and I have nothing in my hands except a finance bill with PayPal credit for almost £700 to pay (a quality watch). This took more than 10 weeks. They did not keep me updated just kept bumping my case on a bi weekly basis.
I was logging into their site weekly to check the status of my claim. I tried to phone. Don't bother as this is a waste of time as they do not pick up due to COVID 19 staff restrictions. They eventually emailed to say they needed the seller's input. He gave the false information the courier company used to hide behind. Say it was delivered and signed for (remember no sign of courier on the day in question and not my signature or anyone else I live with). I like others don't see the point of them for online transactions anymore as credit card company would have refunded me much quicker and upheld their policies and held the courier company accountable for the misdelivery/theft.

I don't know where to start from. I want to make this very brief. I will try my best. PayPal Credit is the worst ever thing ever to leverage. I have used them and my account piled up to be $8000. It was impossible to pay off this large amount easily. I started making the minimum and little bit over as well but that didn't help at all. My minimum was around $220 and most of it goes towards the interest. They will trap you hard, they will make you suffer, no matter what you do, you are in trouble. The only way is to pay large chunks to pay that thing off as soon as possible.
Okay, I am not upset because of this. I am upset because of the last incident that happened to me. I called PayPal Credit during the pandemic to let them know that I am seriously affected by COVID. They told me okay, we will cancel your minimum due, however, that doesn't mean that we are cancelling your occurring interest. Not only this, my minimum went up from 220 all the way to $770. That is my minimum people!! They ripped me off by forcing me to pay $770. I was dealing with two pandemics. The first Pandemic is COVID 19 and the second pandemic is the PAYPAL CREDIT.... Honestly that was the only thing I was thinking of during the Pandemic.
Not only this, wait, they have also reported me as I missed a payment. I mean common PayPal Credit, why on earth you want to report me with a miss payment if I have already told you that I am in a problem during to COVID and you know it, I mean you really know it but why... Seriously why you wanted to hurt me and hurt my family?
I have went away and closed my PayPal Credit with them permanently though I still own them the money and I will never ever in the whole of my life use them again. This company has not been existed to help, they have been exist to trap you. Their interest rate is extremely high and there is nothing you can do other than paying off your balance or else they will hurt your score.
Don't be tempted to the six month no interest offers because you still need to pay the minimum. I would say go and use normal credit card because you know that you have to pay it off anyway so you won't be dragged lazy into their system. PayPal Credit has been successfully won my money that I was supposed to spend it on my family and I have learned my lesson!

The seller then sent me a tracking # which was fake because I called UPS with it and they told me that that tracking # was for an item that had already been delivered to someone in Fontana Ca. I called PayPal back 5 times, every time I call the person in India tells me that the tracking # is good and that the seller is legit. Updated on 08/29/2020: So I order 2 items from a company and paid with Paypal, 138.00. And waited, and waited. So I opened a dispute with Paypal. One week later I received ONE of two items and PayPal closed the dispute. Was an ordeal to reopen for the missing item. They promised a resolution every week for over 2 months. Finally, they said the seller would not issue a partial refund and had to ship the item back to China to get a refund. Interesting, the item shipped to me initially from within the USA. So I checked, it would cost me about 200.00 to ship the rug back to China to get a refund of 138.00. Paypal thought this to be reasonable. (They offered to pay 30.00-but the math did not add up.)
So I am now out half of the purchase, and Paypal refuses to reverse the charge to the seller. End result choices, keep a 70.00 rug that cost twice that, or return it and have NOTHING and still be out 60.00. Now they have closed the entire dispute (Because I didn't ship it back). Paypal sure didn't live up to its buyer's protection!!! Now sticking with credit cards...they're safer and a much better dispute resolution if I ever need again.
Original Review: So I have used Paypal for years-probably when it first started. And I always appreciated the ease to pay with single click-particularly with new companies since they provided shipping address and cut down time and need to pay by credit card and enter all that info. But in early April bought 2 items from a company and never received and the company website disappeared so filed with Paypal. About a week later I received ONE of Two items (WAY PAST expected date) and Paypal closed the case-and I was unable to reopen.
I called Paypal and they reopened-so far so good. They gave me a date of about 30 days to resolve. Then nothing and added a week to resolve-then another week, then ANOTHER week-all the while communicating with them on why the delay. I was told they were escalating the resolution...then ANOTHER TWO weeks to resolve, and I checked again today and they pushed it back further. After 4 months I do not want the item- had planned to have by end of May. And I have about given up trying to get my money back about 70 bucks. The time I have put into this is ridiculous. And trying to chat online takes forever (I understand the COVID problem) and it is certainly adding to the frustration. When they do respond to chat I get "Thanks for your patience", but NO SOLUTION.

One rep says a transaction IS covered by a promotion; the next one says it is not. One rep says a payment will automatically applied to the upcoming amount due; when it isn't done that way, the next agent says the customer has to call, otherwise the payment is applied in a way that maximizes the interest paid. The list of these situations goes on and on. I am paying this off in full, canceling transactions that I made because of promised promotions, and staying away from Synchrony FOREVER. They are simply NOT honest... and NO ONE THERE CARES AT ALL.

This review is to explain to whoever wants to sign up for PayPal credit long term. I’ve never had any issues with them but ever since I started making multiple purchases with PayPal Credit it was on the basis of an agreement to complete the payment of the item within a set time. Recently I made a purchase with no agreement but I was sure I could pay it off within the 4 month 0% interest period benefit they give you. To my surprise I went on their website to check if I could make monthly payments on that specific order but it turns out YOU CAN’T. They force you to pay for ALL of your previous ‘ongoing’ orders in full before you can pay for any recent ones that do not have an agreement which ends up in ‘Guess what?’ Forced interest on YOU the user.
What is the point of offering credit like this if active users will be forcibly charged interest where they could avoid it simply by creating an option on selected purchases or ‘all’ purchases, for that effect, to make voluntary payments so you do not accumulate undesired interest? Honestly this swindler move has made me very angry as I am now forced to feed the swindlers that designed this greedy system pretty much taking a big DUMP on its users and not caring at all. I contacted them to see if they can give me a solution but I find it unbelievable that PayPal as big as it is cannot have a 24hr customer service. I literally have to have chats that last days to get one or two responses. Incompetent and off putting.
They get back to me saying that they cannot allocate my payments to specific transactions and that whatever payments I make will go to the nearest expiring balance of all orders. Guess what? That never happened, my nearest expiring balance was still intact and to this day I do not know where the voluntary payment I made, on top of the minimum due, went. I don’t know if they will be charging me a high interest outside of the first 4 months because, if I now want to pay off the last order that I was hoping to finish paying in 4 months I would have to cover all of the money for all of my order which is almost £1000. Defeats the whole purpose of finance right?
I sent them an angry message similar to this review and I cannot wait to close my account as soon as I finish paying all of my standing credit. It won’t be for some time but God I cannot tell you how much I’m looking forward to that day. If you’re planning on only having one or two active orders it is useful but have more than 3 that are expensive and one that isn’t but you want to pay the latter off within 4 months, you WILL NOT be able to. You will be bound to pay interest to these money monsters because they simply force you to. Their strategy is, pay it all off or we will ** you up with interest. And they know that most users will not be able to pay it all off. Define PayPal credit in one word: SWINDLERS!!!!

You have to link a bank to make a payment, did that twice. 1st time everything went through fine but on their part something did not take. Second time same thing I still get "link bank". I have tried to call and make a payment and all I get is an automated voice telling me how much I owe and when the next payment is due (at this time my account is past due because I cant make a payment) but does not give you an option to make a payment in the automated menu.
I have credit with Synchrony at other stores. I notice that when I log into paypal it says "paypal synchrony". I assumed that they were connected but when I log into MySynchrony I do not see paypal listed on my account. I get at least 20+ automated phone calls a day including Sundays and holidays telling me to make a payment but do not allow any way to make that payment. Now my credit is going to tank. This has been happening continuously since Synchrony took over PayPal credit accounts. I pay my whole balance off monthly via balance in PayPal account. Same as walking into a branch with cash. Now even when month after month of paying in full, this month using the same payment method, they only opened up $1400 of my paid in full credit line of $3520.
Today, 5 days after they removed full $3520 balance to pay off the balance as I always do, they randomly just decided to hold onto my money and not allowed me to access the full credit line. They stated that in the agreement it says they can hold the available amount for 25 days. I paid a contract lawyer to look into this. Nowhere does it say they can hold available credit available when the account is paid in full, unless the balance included interest etc.
I START EACH BILLING CYCLE WITH A ZERO BALANCE. SO MY account does not fall into that category. I am now exploring a Class Action suit for their undisclosed banking practices. They use your money for 25 days as a float and don't give you access it because (me times 10's oh thousand of customer) are all experiencing these same illegal practices.
I encourage EVERYONE who has written a negative review to follow through with your protections offered by your state and the Federal government. File complaints with the Attorney General Office, State and Federal. File a complaint with Federal and State Banking and Insurance departments. File a complaint with senior departs out there to protect against these predatory banking practices.
I have read many of the reviews. YOU HAVE TO TAKE IT FURTHER THAN A CONSUMER REPORT REVIEW. UNLESS YOU FILE A FORMAL COMPLAINT THE STATE AND Federal departments out there to protect it's citizens can't be implemented to there fullest. Every State has a .gov website. Since we are now stuck home, use this time to do something constructive and benefit from this shutdown of the country. The appropriate department in each level of government, is required to respond and investigate.
THIS NEEDS TO BE A FULL ON ASSAULT USING THE SOURCES WE HAVE AS PROTECTION AS United States citizens. At the very least practices like this during the pandemic are frowned upon and every available rule, orders, mandates law or presidential orders will be used to prosecute and keep us safe. PAYPAL CREDIT has never offered their customers any relief options, that I could find. I don't believe in frivolous lawsuits. I do believe in KEEPING AMERICAN CITIZENS SAFE FROM CREDIT PREDATORY BANKING PRACTICES, like the ones being implemented since Synchrony has bought out PayPal's thick portfolio of debt. DON'T JUST COMPLAIN ABOUT IT, DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT.

I called Pay-Pal credit and some smart mouth got on phone and I was in no mood but didn't say much. I said, "Are you in Fraud dept?" He said, "No. Would you like someone?" I said he said, "Maybe I should transfer you." I said, "Maybe you should since you don't no nothing." Well people make mistakes and he hit the wrong button.
A women got on phone. In low voice I said, "Are you Pay-Pal credit?" She said, "No Joseph." I said, "Who are you then?" "I a am Synchrony Bank Joseph and I sorry I know you and Joseph please I am sorry for this forgive me." I asked her, "What can you do to fix this," cause she stopped me. She said, "I will delete your file and Hard Pull and any information from this bank and again Joseph I am sorry. I am sorry for this." I said, "How did this happen?" "You wouldn't understand Joseph." I said, "I never gave this bank or Pay-Pal credit permission. She said, "I know Joseph," and I told her, "All they have done is lie to me and tired of it." She said, "Joseph understand please." I ask, "How long is this going to take because I been lied to since Jan?" She said, "Maybe a week to run through the system then it be deleted."
I ask her again, "How did this happen?" "Joseph you wouldn't understand." I said, "Did Pay-Pal credit open a account in my name?" She YES and, "The bank you work at let it happen?" She YES and they are lot consumers besides me hurting. She said, "Joseph I Sorry you wouldn't understand it all. Joseph I truly sorry." I said, "Why would your bank allow this?" She said, "I don't know Joseph. I got to go please." I said, "What your name?" I call her Marie for her privacy.
After I looked pay-Pal credit has did this one before and got caught. Equifax sells your data and information. It in their privacy information. It also says they are not credit company but a Reseller, Two consumer-credit giants plan to start working together to sell consumers’ data to banks, the latest attempt to feed banks’ appetite for more information on customers. So they sold your information and mine to Pay-Pal credit and Synchrony Bank helped them open Fraudulent accounts and Equifax knows it. So there your answer on your hard Pull. It was Pay-Pal credit that opened a account in your name, my guess to hide taxes, assets, and so on.

Paypal is extremely slow in putting payments through. They dont take the payment immediately. I made a payment on the 1st and 1 week later it still hasnt reflected. Sending money to paypal wallet is the same. Takes an eternity to clear. If I make a payment it's because I have the money to pay it immediately but no they choose to take the money out a week or more after which by then with running a household it may no longer be in my account to pay. Slow is an understatement.

PayPal Credit seemed like a great idea at first. I made a transaction through them to pay for some courses I planned on taking. This first part is my error - when I went to pay off the amount, I thought I'd set it up so that the balance was coming from my regular checking account, and instead it pulled the money from a smaller, rarely used account that didn't have the amount needed to cover the transaction. Cha-ching, $25 from my bank. Ok, I made a mistake, no problem.
I decided to cancel the class that day and got a full refund of $267, which went immediately back to PayPal Credit. I thought the matter was closed. Imagine my shock when PayPal Credit tried to withdraw the same amount from my bank a second time a week later, even though it clearly showed that I didn't owe them any money. I cancelled my credit card account that day and am really hoping that stops the withdrawals and the overdraft fees for a nonexistent balance. I'm concerned, though, because now they think that they're supposed to send me a check for $267 when all I did was pay on credit and refund them the amount when I cancelled the class. I'm not entirely sure they can do basic math, and I don't trust them with my money. The representative told me I can never open up another PayPal Credit card again since I cancelled mine. I think that's probably a good idea.

I opened a new account in December and have found NOTHING BUT DECEPTIVE practices with this credit card through Synchrony Bank. First off they are holding my paid in full payment that was electronically transmitted from my checking account. This hold by Synchrony Bank is because it is a new account. Interestingly I've already made 2 prior payments that were not placed on hold. So this larger payment hold will place an interest fee on my account. I've talked to 4 different account reps and they all gave a different rationale as to this 3rd payment hold. DO NOT USE PAYPAL CREDIT CARD thinking it is part of PayPal. It is not. What they do may be legal, but it is exceptionally deceptive and you will find that there is no resolution through their employees.

PayPal “Bill Me Later” was a great program! Take up to 6 months to pay with no interest (and NO MONTHLY PAYMENTS required). You could (if you chose) to make 1 payment in full at 5 months, 29 days and not pay a dime of interest. But if you paid a day after your 6 months was up, you’d owe the full 6 months worth of interest (reasonable)! PayPal “sold out” to Synchrony Bank and it went downhill from there, i.e. I made a $200 purchase in Nov. 2019 to pay in 6 months with no interest. SIMILAR to what it was before, but now they required a minimum monthly payment (that’s reasonable).
Two weeks later, I made a second purchase for $1300 during a promotion to split the charge for 24 equal monthly payments (also reasonable). Now, I’m the type of person that NEVER pays minimum, in fact I usually pay off my debts well (and I mean well) before due dates. In December, I made a $200 payment to be applied to my oldest charge IN FULL, and they applied only $28 to that, and the rest to the newer $1300 charge. Now this left me a balance due of $172 to that oldest transaction (remember, this has to be paid off in only 5 more months, the other in 2 years). So I called, and the person I talked to gave me a bunch of mumbo-jumbo and said they can’t allocate the payment already made to where I wanted it to go, but if I made another payment, they will allocate it to the eldest charge, and so I sent them $172 right then, promised it would CLEAR off the earliest charge.
A couple days later, I show a balance of $56.26 still due, the rest had been applied to that newer charge... AGAIN!! I called again, this time to pay another larger payment to not only to (for sure) clear that $56.26 left, but to bring that total amount on the account down to $1000 even. Of course, they applied that total payment to the more recent charge and that $56.26 still showed on the earliest charge!! So you see, no matter how much I paid, they insisted on keeping a balance on that $200 charge no matter how much of the balance I paid off. This way, I would likely still owe on that first charge after the 6 months had passed, and now I’d owe 6 months of interest despite my exceeded efforts! Dishonest swindlers!
So now in just over a week’s time, I made several payments to total 1/3 of my entire $1500 debt with these jerks, AND within the first 5 weeks. THEN the very next day, I get an email stating that I have a minimum payment of $84 due in 3 weeks!!! I chatted online with Reynold S. and explained what had been happening, despite the efforts I’ve made. He turned out to have a RUDE tone, and would not make any effort to correct my account. He just kept saying I have to make another payment before the due date, despite my most recent payment being posted YESTERDAY!
I immediately paid off the $1000 balance and have washed my hands of this horse** company. I paid off a debt I could’ve taken 2 years to pay off in less than 6 weeks and within 2 weeks because I won’t do business with a dishonest company that won’t reasonably work with me, who is not a credit risk and with a top rating. PayPal Credit/Synchrony Bank can KMA!

I went to Paypal Credit account online to get my December 2019 statement but the last statement I saw was November 2019. I contacted a PayPal Credit agent. The agent told me that once I have a zero balance, there will be no statement generated. How stupid is this! I let the lender know about this issue. The lender told me I can do a screenshot of my Paypal account (showing that I have a zero balance) but the screenshot must have my name on it.
I went back to my online Paypal account and tried in many different ways to get the screen with my name on it. However, there's NO screen with my name on it even though it's showing a zero balance. This is double stupid! So, I have to wait for a letter from Paypal credit (stating that I have a zero balance.) This will take about 7 to 10 business days for me to get the letter. Then, I can send this letter to my lender. Everything is delaying because of the poor design of the Paypal credit online system. I will NEVER use this Paypal credit again.

I made an exception for a Vitamix blender that I bought from the Vitamix website with 12-equal equal payments of $44. No interest if paid in 12 months. It sounded like a good deal. I paid an 85.00 bill by phone on 10/31 that was due on 11/13, and wrote down the confirmation number. Two days ago I got an email that my account was past due. The next day I got a voice mail from Synchrony Bank to call them about my bill. I tried to call the number on the voice mail, but it was no longer in service. The same number that had been left on my voice mail an hour before! As usual, I was unable to log into my Pay Pal Credit account. No statement was available, so I called.
The rep told me my payment of $169 was overdue. I asked how that could be, since I had paid my last bill, on 10/31, which was due on 11/13, I gave her my confirmation number. She said it was returned to my bank! She had no other information. When I mentioned the out of service number on Synchrony Bank’s voice mail just 30; minutes before, she said, "Oh, those are auto dialers and change all the time." WHAT?
I hung up and redialed Pay Pal Credit, and listened to the robot recite my payment history, and it said my last payment credited to my account was on 10/31 in the amount of $85.00! Yet the customer rep had just told me that payment wasn’t credited to my account because it was “returned” to my credit union. My balance was 629.00. I Immediately decided that I wanted to be rid of Synchrony Bank/Pay PAL and chose the “pay by phone” option via my checking account. To pay off the balance. The robot asked if I wanted to use the same checking account as I had the last time and I said yes. A minute later the voice said I was refused.
I hung up, dialed again, and demanded that the robot again switch me to a live rep after I was forced to listen again to my account info! I got a different rep and I told him to please deduct the full $629.00 balance from my checking account and pay off this account. He used my debit card number (same account). In short, I spent at least an hour on the phone because of this mess. I did what I was supposed to do and made a payment. I did not receive a new bill yet as the next bill would have been due 12/13. Synchrony Bank is the account holder for my Amazon Store Card, my Care Credit account AND for the Sleep Number bed that I bought and paid off 2-1/2 years ago. Whenever I try to log on to pay either of the other three accounts, I am never to actually get into the Account to pay a balance even though I log on as directed.
I know that I will not be using any of the cards that is serviced by Synchrony Bank. Especially Pay Pal, which until yesterday, I thought was a top notch company. I had no idea they did business through this Synchrony Bank. My advice to anyone applying for a new credit card is to forget it if Synchrony Bank is the creditor. They are bad news. Customer “service” has deteriorated so much now that it’s horrible to get a live person on the phone. I try to pay bills online and this bank won’t even allow me to do that, although their website says I can if I just follow their login instructions. Right.

I used Paypal a couple of days ago to make a fairly small purchase of $120 that I intentionally purchased by credit because I didn't want to use funds from my checking account. The transaction went through, but unbeknownst to me, Paypal had instead used my checking account without authorization, which I happened to notice the next day when I was looking at my Wells Fargo account online and noticed that the balance was not as it should be.
I contacted Paypal to ask why they did this, and was given the answer that for some reason they determined it to be unsafe (for them, I presume) to use Paypal credit so instead routed the purchase through my checking account. Why didn't they simply turn the transaction down instead of fraudulently charging my checking account without authorization? Maybe this is included in their small print terms and conditions, I don't know, but either way, because of the way they charged my account without telling me causes me to not want to have to wonder how they will charge future credit purchases, so I closed both of my Paypal credit accounts.
I then called my bank, Wells Fargo and spoke to a banker about this transaction, who confirmed that had I not had the funds in my account to cover this unauthorized Paypal charge, Wells Fargo would have charged me a $35 nonsufficient funds fee. I asked the banker, "Have you seen or heard of this happening with Paypal in the past?", and she answered yes, that customers have claimed that a charge was supposed to be on credit, yet the bank has not stood behind their claim, and that all consequences have fallen on the customer (that she had seen, she wasn't speaking for all of Wells Fargo).
Anyway, good riddance to any and all Paypal credit for me. It is, of course, their ethical right to turn down suspect transactions, but it certainly should NOT be their right to make unauthorized charges to anyone's checking account, potentially putting their finances and credit-worthiness into question with nonsufficient funds transactions and related charges which could cause other, approved charges coming in to that account to bounce. How can Paypal be allowed to get away with this activity without severe consequences to their reputation? They should be legally censured for this activity!

On November 1st, I attempted to make a $3000 payment to pay off what they call a "special financing" loan before the promotional time expired. I was warned that this appeared as a fraudulent charge (it was a payment not a charge) and to confirm my identity and try again later. I confirmed my identity and followed their prompts to resubmit the payment. Once again, I was told this appeared fraudulent (same message) and to follow the process to prove otherwise. Since I could see this was not working, I gave up for the day. I was still one month out from when the payment was due.
The next day, PayPal submitted not one, but two $3000 charges to my bank. I of course was charged by my bank for a returned fee as I did not have enough in there to cover the $6000 total that I was not expecting. I called PayPal who assured me they would refund the extra fee. In the days and weeks that followed my account alternated from negative balances of almost $3000 credited to me, to almost $4000 charged to me. After taking screenshots of everything, I was even shown on the app that I had no payments due on my special interest financing (as was supposed to be the case).
Today, the account now showed I owed almost $4000 and that I had almost $1000 due by 12/10 to avoid interest charges. All of these numbers are incorrect for what I actually did owe plus included additional charges from my bank for returned checks (which they tried to put through a third time on 11/15), as well as PayPal charges for interest charges on falsified records and returned check fees.
When I called PayPal again to resolve, the first representative blamed the problem on me and when I asked to speak to her manager, she hung up on me. The second time I called I finally got a semi-resolution but with no small cost. My bank fees have not be refunded by PayPal who caused them and the process to go about this not only took 3 phone calls to the customer service center but now waiting in the mail for a check from PayPal (which does not cover everything), depositing it into my personal account, waiting for the check to clear before transferring the money to PayPal to fix their mistakes, meanwhile hoping this does not get messed up any further. Furthermore, the representative let me know that this is a known issues at PayPal for which she fields calls repeatedly to resolve this exact issue. This seems like deliberate negligence on PayPal's part. What a horrendous product.

Because PayPal has access to your bank account, they can pull funds anytime without you knowing because you have authorized PayPal to pull funds from your account. Use your bank credit card instead of PayPal. Even thought bank credit card still has a lot of fees, it doesn't have as many hidden terms as connecting your bank account with PayPal. You can dispute payment easier. PayPal ask you to prove that the seller is wrong before you can get the fund back. Bank credit card trusts you first. I have used PayPal for years. As a loyal customer, I am very disappointed and will stop using PayPal and PayPal Credit from now on.

I used PayPal for years and never had a problem. Starting in May of 2019, PayPal Credit got in the picture. I cannot pay off the amount needed for the past 4 months. I have the monies. Trying to pay it. Amount returned every time. Tried to contact the help desk. Nearly impossible to get through to a human. Referred to an incorrect number twice. Tried the online chat. So much time lapsed between feedback from the support person, session was cancelled twice.
Their phone line took my name and number indicating they would contact me back between 16-23 minutes. Never received a call. Call now going into its 45 minute (while I am at work) so I can finally get this resolved. They ended up pointing finger back to PayPal as being the reason for rejecting. PayPal told me everything dealing with PayPal Credit goes through Synchrony. Charges are piling up. Credit score being affected. Told by PayPal Credit/Synchrony I could easily pay anyone to get the balance to zero, including her. So when I offered to pay on the spot she informed me she would need to transfer me to collections department.
Very little, if any of this is due to the few people I was able to finally get connected to. It is due to ineffective systems and training to allow two separate entities to work in a seamless environment. Too much use of call systems and I'm guessing slashing of the customer service department to minimum staff. Someone is making large profits at the direct cost to the customer. I have cancelled all dealings with PayPal and Synchrony.

PayPal credit is a JOKE. I applied for credit when buying my son's class ring. The credit was approved so I used it to purchase the ring. THEN I try to use the credit to make online purchase for Christmas with the special financing and it wont work. After MULTIPLE CALLS I didn't get anywhere. They say it's a security concern so paypal isn't allowing ANYTHING I try to purchase to go through. I ask her what she can do to fix it and she claims nothing and tells me she doesn't know when my account will no longer be flagged for security reasons. Hmm here's a clue. Don't approve someone a credit limit and then not allow them to use it. When the ring is paid off I'm done with paypal and will no longer deal with them. I have never dealt with another credit company that ABSOLUTELY DOESN'T HAVE IT TOGETHER.

I've had a PayPal account for so many years but finally closed it. I opened a PayPal credit account last holiday, as they had a promotion that if I charged over $200 in one day I could have 6 months to pay with no finance charges. What a mistake! I made payments as expected but when it came to month 2 I sent PayPal a note and asked them (via an online link to send a message to Customer Service) to please apply my payment to charges on the special promotion. Two days later I received a response which was obviously from a computer. The response did not even mention when my message requested and the entire message made no sense.
So the next month I also sent a similar message but again, a completely incoherent response and again, the payment was not credited to these special offer charges. When I got to the 5th month with very little of my payments (which were always more than double the minimum payment) reflected on the promotional charges, I got very upset as I was concerned about being charged big finance charges (they would charge the entire 6 months total charged if there was any balance left). I had to search the Internet to find a phone number as none is given on their site! They finally applied some payments but of course, it came down to the last month before extra charges.
When I heard another family member complaining about the same thing, I filed a complaint with NY Banking, which is ongoing. When it was just PayPal handling small eBay sales, it worked but I do not believe PayPal should have ever gotten or be allowed to be in the credit business as they just don't have what it takes and their computerized responses are just totally insane. I finally closed my PayPal account as the stress, no matter how good their offer was, was just not worth it. Last thing I need is more stress to be added onto my day. I suggest everyone stay far away from PayPal.

Opened an account in July or August. Account was then closed due to what they said as it being a fraudulent account that I reported. That was false. I waited a month and a half to get that fixed only to find out I can't use the account now. I was never given a reason. I was told that's policy. They closed the account based on false info. They messed up but I pay for their mistake. DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME WITH THEM. THEY ARE WORTHLESS.

I applied for PayPal Credit and it all went through fine and it even worked on the first purchase. But from then on I could never use PayPal Credit for any purchase, whether it was on eBay or another site. I tried different items on each site and all it did was say "Your application can't be processed. We're sorry but you won't be able to use PayPal Credit for this purchase. Please choose another funding source". The customer service is a waste of time, they give you no reason why it doesn't work, and don't even seem bothered about the whole situation. My advice is that you NEVER apply for paypal credit, it is a complete waste of time and only works for one purchase.

I've been with Paypal for about a decade. I've never had a single security problem with my account or even ever opened a dispute, despite making purchases successfully using both my bank account and Paypal credit. Then, for some reason Paypal couldn't explain to me, my account was flagged for review. Just after the passing of KYC legislation. Immediately, all my account usage was shut down.
On contacting Paypal to resolve these issues, I had to upload document after document--including social security card, driver's license, bank statements, mortgage statement... Paypal refused to accept all the legal documents I uploaded as proof I am me but wouldn't give me a clear answer as to why. No matter how many agents I spoke with, no one would give me an answer. George Orwell would be proud of his foresight.
So none of the documents I use with every other government agency (US passport, SS card, state driver's license, 15-year old bank account statements...) are "valid" to Paypal to prove I am myself. Brilliant. Just as infuriating, Paypal reps refuse to answer the simple question how Paypal assures customers that our private personally identifying information that could be used fraudulently (data breach, associates' misuse...) WON'T be. Not only did Paypal NOT accept any of my otherwise valid US self identifying documents (which I've used at other banks to open accounts), but they refused either to return my documents to me OR agree to remove them from their system.
This is exactly why even people my age are turning to alternative forms of payment/money management. These large companies don't have to deal with the hellish fallout of data breaches on consumers ourselves. And they can treat us like criminals while hiding behind, "It's the law." Since the end of the summer, I've been successfully using Stellar Lumens to transfer money and am very optimistic about the broader acceptance of DAI. The days of the banking cartels being the only game in town are coming to an end.

Kept the money but now can't find it and will not talk to our bank. Will not tell us anything so we think there is just a convenient black hole account someone at PayPal Credit is using to steal customer money. Never ever deal with these people again. Received a notice in today's (snail) mail reminding us that we have a PayPal credit account and detailing the "promotional purchases" = no interest for six months offer. The notice cites the last 4 digits of our supposed account. We called to cancel such account. The young woman insisted that our name, address, telephone number and last 4 digits of the supposed account were not enough info for her to access the account to actually see if it existed so that it could be canceled. She also wanted our e-mail addy, which we refused to give her. Originally she said telephone number OR e-mail address. We finally gave up, and told her we would report the interaction with the banking authorities, which we plan to do.

Absolutely terrible, I applied for PayPal credit. I received it no issues at all, now I’ve been trying to use it. Everytime I go to use it, it never works. Always says Your application can’t be processed. I call up PayPal Credit they told me to link my Checking account then it should work immediately, I do so. I confirm the account with my checking account. Still can’t use, I then call PayPal again. They tell me it’s too much money to send to a seller they don’t know about. I said "Okay, can I buy it via eBay?" "Yes." I tried again nothing. I tried Buying numerous things just to confirm that it’s not working. Chia seeds, flax seeds, Nike shoes, tires, TPS, still doesn’t work at all.
Now PayPal is telling me don’t use PayPal credit no more. That everytime I use it their security team will flag it, get another credit card. That’s all that was said to me. I’ve had this problem since September 3, 2019. Absolutely terrible, I got credit but neither team can help resolve it, let alone give me a reason why it’s being red flagged. This company is really going down hill with their customer service!

I've been with Paypal for 7-8 years, never had an issue until this new scam of a company took over. I received a collection call from Paypal today informing me that I was 34 days late on my account. I made a large payment on 8/2/19 and was contacted on 9/8/19. I'm thinking I may be 5 days late, so no big deal. Why would they be contacting me for five days? The collection person informed me that I made the payment BEFORE they generated my August bill, so it didn't post on my account for that month. Ya. WTH.
This new company is a complete joke. Never, ever in my life have I been penalized and reported to the credit bureaus for making a payment early in the month. Needless to say, I threw a complete fit, spoke to a supervisor and had them remove late fees, take me out of collections and reverse negative credit reporting. I am paying this card off asap to avoid any future scams. I'm hoping I do not have to fight this matter any further, because this company is a complete ripoff. I wouldn't be surprised if there is a class action suit one day.

So apparently PayPal sold and the last company was allocating my payments to promotion purchases instead of none promotional but still not charging me interest. Well now they want me to pay in full or they will start charging interest. Sounds like something illegal here and the consumer is being punished. I was actually told I was paying too much each month. Will never use PayPal credit now ever again and will tell everyone not to as well and why.

I have had a PayPal credit card for several years with the same linked bank account. One month ago, in July 2019, I signed up for auto draft because I made a 6 month deferred payment in June 2019. They called me in August 2019 telling me I didn't make a payment on my account. I never had issues prior and I was signed up for auto draft. I began speaking to their utterly rude rep on the people phone with zero common sense, who didn't even look on her computer to see I had auto draft. I explained to her I had auto draft and why wasn't it withdrawn from my already linked bank account? She proceeded to tell me it takes 2 months to verify a bank account for auto draft. Mind you I already had my account linked to this credit card for over 5 years.
As I was on the phone with her, I had my account up in front of me. She couldn't even answer questions, because she didn't even have my account in front of her, after I verified information at the beginning of the call. I immediately paid the account, way beyond the minimum payment, while on the phone with her and she didn't even realize. Then I explained to her my payment, on auto draft, should still come out the next month, or September 2019. She told me that can't be done. It's completely laughable! They don't even want their money, when auto draft is in place and the consumer wants the payment withdrawn, but they're there to point out a missed payment when it's their mistake for not auto drafting it the 1st time. And no apology. No common sense, whatsoever!
Seeing these threads, I can see other consumers are disgruntled with PayPal credit. I am writing official complaints to the BBB and Synchrony Bank, along with PayPal corporate. People should collectively complain and file against PayPal credit. I certainly am not using this card anymore, and will cancel it. They certainly don't need any business from consumers.

I had my credit score hit 2 TIMES for nothing, but a punishment for closing an account with them prior (Bill Me Later) 7-8 YEARS AGO. No resolution could be made, I tried to enter thru another email, hoping I just needed new info, and AGAIN they hit my credit score. I was on hold over an hour, once 2 hours, more than once. No help provided, batted around from department to department. The phone rep was also rude and cut me off while I was speaking, telling me to "let her finish". I wrote them a long letter explaining everything (they even had the nerve to give me a survey which asked question after question, took way too long, and I doubt they even bothered to read).
Not only did these ** creeps disrespect me as a customer, they tried to ruin my cred-worthiness and livelihood. I just had to finance a big move this year, and pay off a major traffic offense. Therefore, I unfortunately have no money to hire a lawyer and sue the life out of them. They prey on customers, knowing they can blatantly get away with it. I also reported them to the BBB, and plan on filing a complaint with the FTC as well. Horrible, and degrading experience no customer should ever go through.

I received both a confirmation from Home Depot & PayPal, which authorized payment. Two days later I found that the amount of the purchase had been taken out of my Checking Account! NO NOTIFICATION AT ALL! I immediately called PayPal who told me to call Home Depot. No problems on their end, no blocks, no problems. Upon further checking, I found that the same occurrence had happened in July with a purchase from The Home Depot.
I have talked to 4 supervisors & countless agents at PP. I spent 42 minutes on hold & was then disconnected -- twice! Amazing how the story changed from agent to agent as to the cause. Four hours later they are blaming my bank, although the transaction list shows PayPal making the withdrawals. Synchrony recently took over the accounts. Up until July, I had no problem. I also had a credit card listed on the account to use as backup -- but they went straight for my bank account -- twice! ASAP I will be paying off and closing my PayPal account & as many Synchrony backed credit cards as possible, although they seem to be building a monopoly in the credit market. BEWARE!!! These people are scalpers.

I have been making automatic monthly payments on my PayPal Credit balance for the last few years. Suddenly I am receiving notifications from PayPal Credit and Synchrony Bank telling me that I am delinquent because they attempted to make my auto payment and or unable to collect the funds due to insufficient funds in my bank account, or a problem with the bank account. They couldn't tell me exactly what the problem was. I checked with my bank and nothing about the bank account has changed from all of the months that my payment has gone through, and at no time have I had insufficient funds in my account to cover it was draw by PayPal credit / Synchrony Bank.
Furthermore my bank shows no such attempt by the above named entity. There is no record of PayPal credit / Synchrony Bank having attempted to withdraw money from my account, but now are sending me regular delinquency notices and charging me interest and penalties. I called PayPal credit when I first learned of this problem and made a payment using my debit card, which they accepted and now say that that didn't go through either. Obviously there's some kind of scam going on here in order to inflate interest charges and late penalties. Customer service folks barely speak English, just continually repeat the same rhetoric over and over without any attempt to try and resolve the issue. I will be closing my accounts and they can send whatever they want to send to the credit bureaus. I will fight this, and get legal representation if necessary.
