I disputed a $2,014.19 PayPal Credit charge for merchandise that was never received. The dispute was later denied, but I was never notified of the decision. The only letters I received stated that the dispute was under review and then referenced a promotional balance. I only learned the dispute had been denied after calling customer service. Because of the lack of communication, the balance has now been moved into promotional financing with a short payment deadline while my CFPB complaint is still pending. As a customer, I feel this process lacked transparency and did not provide a fair opportunity to respond before the dispute was closed.

January,2026, initially approved for PayPal Mastercard (PPM). Minimum payment due March 17,2026= $58. Went in PayPal app, March 3, 2026, and went thru steps for making a payment ($409.79-Statement Balance). Pop-Up Message advising must "Sign In" to app... Signed in-Proceeded thru steps "AGAIN" to make payment. Did NOT receive any type of flag to signal a payment is already PENDING, etc, with option to proceed. Therefore, I made a DUPLICATE PAYMENT. I just happened to start looking thru app, to become more familiar with the PPM and the app, in general.
That's when I realize there are two payments pending, $409.79 each. Immediately contacted Customer Service, at the phone number listed on my PPM. Was advised that "CANCELLING" the accidental duplicate payment was NOT an option; but once BOTH payments posted, I could call back and request a refund!😡 RIDICULOUS!!! PPM received two payments, made erroneously, and immediately requested a cancellation of duplicate payment; but proceeded to withdraw those funds from my bank account!!
I was advised by PPM to allow AT LEAST 15 days for refund of erroneous duplicate payment of $409.79 to be refunded to me, via a check. Several CSR's, including one Supervisor, I spoke with from Synchrony, advised me they MUST follow instructions given to them by PayPal--they are NOT authorized to "Cancel" any payments or "return any consumer's monies to them"!! I believe this is very "shady" and unfair business practices by PPM!! Is this business practice/procedure even LEGAL???? I will no longer use this PPM!! Have cut it up and will let it remain inactive until PayPal cancels for "inactivity"; so my EXCELLENT CREDIT SCORE will NOT be affected. SHAME ON PAYPAL!!!!😡

I called Paypal Credit and told them they charged me interest on my account. I was under the assumption there would be no interest if I paid off the account in 4 months. The manager agreed and credited my account back the interested charge. I had already paid back the entire balance owned. The next day I get a new interested charge for $11.50 and I call back again. This time this rude and very overbearing manager said we will not removed the $11.50 charge. Crazy!!! Do not under any circumstances use Paypal Credit. They will find a way to hurt your credit and make you pay interested. Btw, I have a very high credit score and now they are threatening to hurt it!!! Paypal should not use this company anymore!!!

Avoid. I cancelled a purchase with a merchant a week ago, and the pending charge still hasn’t dropped after 5 business days. Synchrony and the merchant all says everything is cancelled on their end, so it is PayPal doing who knows what. Also, I don’t know if this is on paypal or Synchrony, but I had made some purchases where the APR is free for the first 6 months. I paid most of them off before interest started, but also paid some interest, so they made money off of me. Then, I paid $1,000 off. They held the line of credit in limbo not updating my payment for 2 weeks or more, and then, instead of reflecting the payment, they just slashed my available credit by $1,000. Super shady, do not recommend, they will hurt your credit card score.

I use PayPal Credit for good amount of time maybe a year but then something never seemed to be right so I canceled it and when I canceled it, I asked the guy, "Will there be any more finance charges or anything?" He said no. Then I started making the payments whatever. They told me to pay the minimum amount. I did that for a year and a half. Then I decided to check the balance and the balance was still the same so evidently they still do charge you a finance charge. They didn’t tell me that and then they charge if I pay on the pay date, they would always say it was late and charge me a late touch. Something is not quite right and they give you the runaround when you talk to Customer Service.

I was sent a PayPal credit card. It was written up that it could be used instead of your PayPal credit account "bill me later" which became 6 months deferred interest. I opted to use the card instead of PayPal checkout as advertised. They remove your good old PayPal credit apparently, and screw you with a 29.9% interest rate if you use the card. Not an upgrade as they promote it, they are out to screw you!!!

I was charged $350 from a fraudulent company on my PayPal credit card. I filed a dispute with PayPal and provided all the documentation to prove it was a fraudulent company. They have numerous amounts of complaints and other people have reported they are a scam. To no avail, they did not credit my card back and instead sided with a fraudulent company which shows what a scam PayPal Credit is. I have since canceled my account with them and will never use PayPal again. What a scam!

Their online payment center is separate and when you call them cause there's an issue they all claim they can't help you cause you made a payment online. Had an issue where their online system duplicated payment. It was a large payment to pay off my card. Their customer service rep stated to have my bank reverse it as it will be easier than having to wait on them. But she failed to mention that they would charge me a fee plus remove all payment access to my account. During the whole process of that the duplicate payment their online system continued to go back in forth showing 1 payment. They refuse to help or accept responsibility just state they can't do anything. If they can't do anything then they shouldn't exist as they are useless. You may as well talk to a bug on a wall. You will just get transferred every where to just be told the same with no one having access to anything.

I've been using PayPal for 24 years. I received a credit card offer for a "PayPal" credit card with no interest if paid in full in 6 months on purchases over $149 when checking out online with PayPal. When I received my first statement, that wasn't the case. This was not honored by PayPal and the issuing CC company, Synchrony, stated the interest-free offer was for purchases using PayPal credit (wallet) and NOT the "PayPal" Mastercard. I advised the flyer stated "PayPal" not Synchrony Mastercard issued on behalf of PayPal.
I have always liked Paypal credit. I used it extensively on Amazon and eBay & it’s always a safe alternative. I don’t like the new PayPal credit card only because they lied & said no interest for 6 months on purchase of $149 or more. When I called PayPal to discuss the fraud issue, they would not help with the issue and referred me to Synchrony who was no help at all. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND PAYPAL or CREDIT CARD!!!!!!!!

Paypal credit is the worst possible credit you can use. If you use the 6 month 0% interest, you better pay it in full every month or you will be billed a lit of interest. Also, customer service reps don't know what they're doing. They are more confused than I am.

Horrible credit company, horrible customer service. My credit line was slashed by thousands with no reasoning, I receive interest fees on a zero balance, and it has destroyed my credit. I have been a faithful customer and have always paid my balance, only to have my credit score destroyed for a $6.99 interest fee charge I didn't know was there as I hadn't used the account in months.

I have been a loyal customer and maintained a perfect payment history. My initial credit limit was 1400 which I utilized responsibly. I was happy with the card till two weeks before Christmas the limit was decreased ruining my Christmas. Without any warning, notification, or understandable explanation suddenly my credit limit 1400 limit was slashed to 800. I discovered limit decrease checking credit karma. This decrease immediately and drastically increased my credit utilization ratio which is extremely detrimental to my credit score. It’s ironic the company penalizes responsible behavior by making it look like you’re using more of your available credit.
When I called the robotic and representative were unhelpful. They offered vague answers and couldn’t provide a concrete reason tied to my personal history. This move shows a complete lack of respect for long term responsible customers. It makes it impossible to rely on this PayPal Mastercard for emergencies or large planned purchases. AVOID THIS CARD UNLESS YOU ENJOY HAVING YOUR FINANCIAL RELIABILITY QUESTIONED OVERNIGHT.

This new Customer Service AI thing is terrible. I used to be able to allocate my monthly payments to the special financing through an agent using the chat option. Now, I am unable to do this, and jumping on the phone during a weekday is not feasible for someone with a workday like mine. I'm going to zero out my balance and cancel PayPal. This is horrible; we are moving backwards with service.

I was hacked on August 24, 2025. They also got my bank account information and I had to get a new bank account. They originally took off the fraudulent charges and issued new account information and within 24 hours the hackers were in that account also so I did it again and then they got that account within 24 hours also. They did refund my money on September 4 and now November 21 with my accounts closed because of the fraudulent activity and the failure for them to protect me and my personal information I closed both PayPal credit And credit card account accounts and here we are November 21, 2025 and they’re trying to charge me for the fraudulent activity that was already taken care of back in August. They don’t know what they’re doing. Worst experience ever with a credit card would give 0-10 stars if I could.

I received the PayPal MC in the mail and shame on me for not reading the fine print. I just figured it was an extension of PayPal credit. I’ve had PayPal for over 20 years. They randomly shut the card off and I had to take a video of myself to get it reactivated. I’ve had multiple issues and can’t get to the right department when I’ve called. If I ever had an issues in the past PayPal would always reimburse me. I used it as a secondary protection when I made online purchases. That is no longer the case. If you don’t use their card for PayPal checkout they won’t cover any other payments due to fraud for example. Once you activate the card you’ve lost your PayPal credit line. I despise Synchrony as I’ve had issues with them in the past for an Old Navy card. I’d cancel this in a second if I didn’t have such a long standing and high available limit. I’ve had issues when checking out, my default cc is a different card but it keeps using the PayPal MC. Not happy!

Some of the very positive reviews must be coming from those who haven't read the fine print. It gets a grade of F- (one star) for those who have been accustomed to using PayPal for years. There are many downsides to this card. First, everybody gets the "benefit" of a 30% finance charge whether you have an 800 or 400 credit rating. So, it might work for those with a low credit rating.
Second, the card is only of any value if you just shop online. If you go into a store to buy an iPhone or other expensive item, you don't get the benefit of six months of deferred interest to pay charges of over $149. I have used PayPal for travel expenses like airfare. That part of the benefit does not apply to travel expenses after January 31. There are other promotional benefits that have many exclusions and are not guaranteed after the promotional period. (You really have to read the very fine print.)
Third, as many have commented on this forum, customer service leaves a few things to be desired for example, trying to correct errors. You also get incorrect information about the benefits. The rep I spoke to tried to convince me that the Travel Benefit does not go way after January 31. If you want to cancel this card, be prepared to be persistent. She tried to convince me that maintaining a zero balance is sufficient. But that remains on your credit report for many years and can affect your credit score as an open account that you may use to increase your indebtedness. PayPal already put on your credit report a "Hard Inquiry" on your credit report. That doesn't go away for years even after you cancel the card.
The rep's final salvo: if I cancel the card I will not get to use PayPal at all. That didn't change my persistent efforts to cancel. Not to be picky, there is a 3% foreign transaction fee. Other reviews noted that the points you get for purchases are not that great compared to other cards you already have. I think you get the picture. One final warning. You might see (on YouTube), or read on websites reviews from so-called expert evaluators of credit cards. (They didn't read the fine print either.)

Somehow PayPal credit withdrew money from my daughter’s account. She is a student and has never had a PayPal account. Hours on the phone e correcting this with no explanation on how an inactive card had my daughter's checking account info. My bank became involved - trying to figure this out. I requested a complete cancellation of PayPal credit card. Now they have added back a balance to the PayPal credit card plus fees. The amount makes no sense. PayPal credit card charged me fees that are unexplained- on a card I never requested or activated - that was tied to a minor's account. I want to be refunded the fees and a breakdown of why I now have a balance on this card.

I recently paid over $1500 with my PayPal cashback Mastercard to a chiropractor for a stem wave therapy which damaged my lower back and caused severe pain and when I opened the dispute with the Customer Service Dept and submitted all my documents with a valid dispute, they sided with the merchant after two months of doing nothing. PayPal Credit, aka Synchrony Bank, is the worst financial institution I have ever dealt with. You always get a customer service representative who speaks poor English and is totally clueless. The call always ends with the representative hanging up on you or putting you back on hold if you're lucky. My recommendation for all PayPal customers is to link a credit card with a reputable bank that can accurately handle your customer service needs.

PayPal is a joke. I have jumped through a lot of ridiculous hoops in the years I’ve had an account with them. It has always been a circus trying to get things resolved with them but beginning in 2025 they have officially gone into business with scammers. Of the 7 things I tried to purchase off instagram only 1 item even showed up, and it was not even remotely resembling the item I ordered.
The way I operate is I use PayPal credit for any seller I am unsure about, so in short I don’t pay if I don’t receive item. Funny thing is on at least 3 of the transactions when I realized the app was claiming item delivered and I knew it had not been, I started a dispute. Immediately upon initiating the dispute it triggered an automatic refund. They are betting on orders falling through the cracks, but if a buyer raises an issue it automatically refunds.
After wasting several hours on the phone several times there still were 2 transactions that they were unwilling to resolve. One of the transactions I had paid insurance on but never received item, the other was wrong item that I sent back, ”return to sender”. I ordered a laser and was sent a toy sword. *With both of these transactions, at the time of the transaction I was directed to PayPal page to approve the amount, and then sent back to vendor page. Finalized payment amount, screenshot the “order complete” screen but then got a email receipt the next day with a 37% “tax” added on to one and a 30% tax on the other one.
When I emailed the seller one of them said it was a “system error”. And they refunded it. (They did this to confuse customer service or me when I try to get it resolved when I never actually receive item because their system says I already got a refund.) Either was I know I’m not the first person these scammers have taken advantage of and I told PayPal this and I wasn’t going to pay for stuff I never got, or stuff I sent back that wasn’t what I ordered.
Later I got notification that I had a negative balance. I looked and it showed I had a negative PayPal balance but a positive PayPal credit balance, which were almost the same. They would have canceled each other out. Well I haven’t used them and figured I’d wasted enough of my time trying to get things resolved so I just haven’t cared and now I get a statement out of the blue after not receiving any statement or using PayPal for 3 months saying I owe over a hundred bucks and still have a negative balance of $53. WORST COMPANY EVER!!!

I took out a loan with PayPal. I figured that I could handle the monthly payments. I already had paid a student loan for years and monthly payments only changed annually. I also have a POPA loan and monthly payments don't change. PayPal is different. It started out as less than a hundred dollars a month, now it's almost two hundred a month in less than a year. I just want you to know how quickly the rate will increase ahead of time to help you to decide if this is right for you. If I had it to do over again, I'd just buy everything individually and Pay In Four, or I would have used POPA.

I have been a credit customer for years. I have never missed a payment. One day, I go into my bank account and see that they paid PayPal credit over $1000. I had made a payment but it was for $50. I’m not quite sure what happened, so I called PayPal credit. I told them that I did not make that payment and I needed them to refund my money. They said it would take 5 to 10 days for me to get my money back. I needed the money for my rent. They said to call my bank and put a stop payment on the check. I did that. What I didn’t know was that my bank stopped all payment payments to PayPal credit. I thought it was just the one.
I get this thing from PayPal credit saying that they have taken my bank off of my account because they were refusing payments. I did not know the bank was doing this. I went back on PayPal credit and attached my bank again, called my bank and told them not to keep stopping the payments. At that point, I thought everything was fine.
Then I get a call from PayPal Credit saying that I owed them $60. I paid them immediately. They said the bank was still blocking payments. I went back to Wells Fargo again and re-added my account to PayPal. Then I get a message saying PayPal credit has closed my account. I didn’t do anything wrong. I had no idea what the bank was doing. I made up for all the payments that got sent back. I called PayPal credit and ask them to please reopen my account. That I had done nothing wrong and that it was just a screw up with the bank. Wells Fargo didn’t know why it got paid that thousand dollars, and I didn’t know why it did. Some technology messed up. It wasn’t because I was a bad credit risk.
My credit score is really good. I asked the lady at PayPal Credit to please look at all the documentation that I had and to open my account again. She said I needed to get a letter from the bank. The bank gave me a letter, but apparently not the one they wanted. The bank didn’t want to be liable for a lawsuit so they weren’t going to admit that they made the mistake, but they admitted that they didn’t know what happened. I was then told that a computer made the decision and not PayPal credit. So they’re letting machines make decisions about people’s life even when all the evidence proves that I did nothing wrong. This is completely unfair and unwarranted.

I’ve been a loyal PayPal customer for over 10 years and even opened a PayPal World Credit Card, always maintaining a perfect payment history. Unfortunately, a recent experience has completely changed my opinion of both PayPal and Synchrony Bank. I made a purchase on TikTok that turned out to be a scam. I notified PayPal immediately and provided information about this scam. Still, they deemed the transaction legitimate and refused to reverse the charge. They referred me to Synchrony Bank, and Synchrony directed me right back to PayPal—neither taking any accountability. It felt like a frustrating game of ping-pong, with no real resolution. I decided to close my credit card account after redeeming my cashback rewards of $80.92 to help offset the fraudulent charge of $85.20. But then I was told the account had already been closed and I was no longer entitled to the cashback that I earned.
This experience has shown me how little these companies value their long-term customers. I will never open an account with Synchrony Bank again, and I will be closing all of my PayPal accounts. I prefer to do business with institutions that actually stand behind their users and offer real support in times of need. I also had photos and documentation but they didn't ask for it.
