I have had a PayPal Credit account for about 15 years and found out it was closed when PayPal switch bank services. Have never missed a payment and have always paid more than the actual minimum. After speaking with their customer service reps... They didn't care to help fix it. In fact, they said it was closed when they made a switch and it was done by the customer which is me and I am the only one with access to that account.

Get approved for PayPal credit. It's going to hit you for 20 points right off the jump, but wait make 1 purchase over 300$ and be prepared for a hit on your credit for over 80 points. Total scam. WILL NEVER RECOMMEND THIS SERVICE OR PAYPAL AGAIN!

I keep trying to find the interest charged for the month and, so far, haven't found it anywhere. Normally, it's found in two places on a statement, but not since Synchrony Bank took over. They've "streamlined" their reports and when they asked for opinions, they got one full blast; however nothing's changed. Also, even though I always log out successfully, the next time I want to log in I have to do it twice: After logging out, the symbols in the upper right-hand corner correctly show the "log in"/"sign up." When I return and enter my login info, I'm instructed to return to PayPal and the Option in the upper right-hand corner says "log out." Sooo, has my account been accessible to others ever since I logged out "successfully"????
How can Synchrony Bank take over one retail account after another???? I thought monopoly was illegal!!!! It's a racket with them: They come and jack up everyone's interest rates till you can no longer pay; then they pass it on to a collection agency and go their merry way. I currently have one of their accounts in collection: Because I saw the handwriting on the wall, I stopped using the account 100% in July a couple of years ago hoping to gradually lower my interest and monthly payments a couple dollars each month.
However, without using that account, each monthly interest fee and monthly minimum payment continued to increase until I finally had to give up the ship 4 months later in November. My payments till then had NEVER been late. I hate this bank with a passion, but am currently unable to do anything about it, since I have a very low SS resulting from having been on disability before it rolled over into my regular SS. I'm now 81, with only SS and no savings.

I have Paypal and somehow Paypal Credit has been used sometimes as paying option. Even I always request to pay using my credit card that is on the file with paypal. Somehow paypal credit sneaks in and process the transaction. And then they charged me some strange fees. Dealing with Paypal credit is just constant headache. So please stay away from Paypal Credit if possible.

I signed up with PayPal Credit only because they were advertising a $20.00 discount on items I was purchasing. I never did get the $20. They told me it was a "glitch" in their software and the discount would happen on my next purchase using PayPal Credit. Didn't happen. But that is not the worst. I closed the account last month because I was getting a past due notice. I called to verify yes, payment had been made and I had a 0 balance and yes, I could close the account. Guess what? This month I get another email saying I now owe twice the amount! Do not be conned into signing up with PayPal Credit!!! They are terrible.

I have never had any problems with PayPal until Synchrony Bank took over and now that's all I have. I just spent over an hour on the phone trying to link my bank account to my PayPal account and still haven't gotten it done. And this thing about sending two small deposits to your account and retrieving them in order to verify is crazy. And why is Synchrony bank taking over all charge accounts? They also control WalMart's credit accounts and several others. Not a big fan of Synchrony Bank. After today's experience I would give them a negative rating.

For many years I used Bill Me Later in sync with my PayPal account. As the changes have impacted customers like me, the takeover by Synchrony Bank has meant higher rates, continued and constant invasions of my privacy for advertising, lack of customer service support, arrogant and disinterested employees who continually recite scripts after ruining a person's life with their standardized "takeover" policies that do not include any consideration for the many years of establishing an excellent and perfect credit history with this lender. I've been insulted beyond words by having my account closed inexplicably. I suggest staying away regardless of their hard-sell, in-your-face promotion campaigns. They don't deliver.

Anything over $99.00 is considered promotional and you have 6 mos to pay interest free, so you do this. Then you charge something non-promotional for $50.00. Then you make a payment of $50.00 that same month. Do you think that payment pays off your non-promotional charge? No it doesn't, they split the payment up between the 2 charges leaving you with a partially unpaid balance of your $50.00 charge to carry over into the next month where you are charged interest on it. I clarified this with a C.S. rep that told me you have to call them and request the payment goes exclusively towards the non-promotional charge. Beware.

In December 2018 I decided to get PayPal credit so I could buy my grandson's a Christmas present. I've used it a few times since then. I recently noticed that they are charging me extra "interest on top of interest" saying that I got cash advances on two occasions. I don't have a card but rather have virtual credit to shop online. I have never gotten a cash advance. Because they do not send out a statement, it is very easy to forget to make a payment. Of course I forgot one month so now my interest rate is astronomical! Y'all be careful!!!

I mailed a payment for 150 the full balance of my PayPal credit that I regret getting but I was in a pinch and figured I’ll just pay it off in 2 weeks when I get paid. Ha! So on June 13 I mailed the payment to address given by PayPal and nothing showing on my account that I paid anything. I contacted them thru chat to confirm I had the correct mailing address and the chat person confirmed I mailed it to the correct payment address.
I asked why the payment wasn’t showing. She then suggested I need to mail my payment to the address she stated. Which I already told her “I DID THAT”. Then they state they cannot access anything and do not know other than for me to mail another 150 USD which they can’t seem to find the 1st one I sent. Never again. I’m closing and deleting everything to do with eBay and PayPal once I get this resolved and probably have to pay 100 percent interest by paying another 150 dollars. Avoid PayPal at all cost. Listen to the complaints they are real. WORST ONLINE EXPERIENCE EVER!

Today I called PayPal to figure out why I was charged interest despite of having paid 50% of my balance between April and May and the rest on June 14th. They said that I missed one payment that was due on June 10th. The rep also said that I was notified about the amount I had to pay by June 10th to avoid interest charge. I checked my mailbox and there was no notification from PayPal about that. The rep to whom I spoke was quite agitated and interrupted me several times. The rep came to a point of saying that PayPal would not do anything to help me out because I was just one more person in a million who was crying about a very common problem. The rep also told me that PayPal would not do anything to help me because all keeping their policy is above customer service. And of course I asked why customers were less important than the policy and the rep simply dismissed me with a vague answer.
After that I asked for a supervisor and after 5 min on hold the supervisor greeted me, but did not say anything meaningful. I asked the supervisor to check how long I had my PayPal account. They replied "since 2010" and that was it. My conclusion is that PayPal is a company that really care about their policy, but what about customers? Well, saying that they do not care about their customers is an understatement. It looks like that the company that used to care so much about their customers turned sour.

I purchased a washer and dryer from Home Depot April 18, 2019. The system had made a mistake about the address delivery so I called Home Depot and they resolve the issue right away and cancelled my order and refund the money at the same day. It shows in my account the merchandise fully refunded the amount and yet the PayPal Credit still want me to pay the $889.60. It is really frustrating. I called PayPal customer service and the answer was "Ohh you still have time to pay for 6 months", haha, big joke. I also reached out the chat helpline stating "I can't help you, this issue you have to call the PayPal Credit and why you want a money back. The money was already refunded to you". Ya, no kidding. That was my problem.
Why the heck they want me to pay the amount which is I don't have the items and that was fully refund. All I want is just to remove the amount of $889.60 because it wasn't part of my special financing anymore since it was cancelled and fully refund. Stay away from PayPal. You think you could save money because of the promo so called 6 months to pay without interest. I have been a member of PayPal since 2014 and I have a few merchandises was cancelled and fully refunded. They may be make me pay for that as well since I don't check my account more often because the purchase it wasn't much as this $889.60. I will pay off the rest of what I owed from PayPal except the amount that I am not supposed to. Again stay away from them. They are theft. I felt bad I recommend them to all my friends. It was embarrassing now.

PayPal Credit allows you to defer interest for 6 months for purchases of 100 or more. They also have promotional offers which allow you to have transactions that have interest free, fixed monthly payments. These are great offerings, however; If you actively use both... They deceptively apply any excess payments (over the minimum monthly due) to the monthly fixed payment first.
This means that you cannot make the necessary excess payments to your deferred interest payments until you have completely paid off the monthly promotional offer (completely defeating the purpose of the monthly promo offer and ultimately resulting in the consumer having to pay the interest when the deferred interest transaction expires). Note: Reading though the PayPal community you can call and have your payments allocated but, it's incredibly hard and inconvenient to track. My advice would be to simply stay away!!!

I've had a PayPal account for over a decade with the same bank. PayPal has let me down big time in the past, refusing to process payments I sent businesses because they, PayPal, felt the payments were fraudulent. Even after contacting PayPal by phone to resolve the issues, they never were resolved and I had to find other ways to make my payments.
But recently I found limitations on my account--essentially a freeze on all account activity until I provided records (KYC/AML) to PayPal's satisfaction. I'm sick of my private data being stored on company after company's server just waiting for a hacker or someone else to steal the data. Then it's the consumer who has to deal with the fall out (identity theft...). I spoke with a PP customer service agent today and asked for a guarantee my private data would never be accessed inappropriately. She couldn't guarantee this but still demanded I submit to their intrusive, draconian verification system, spouting laws all the while--as if those laws protected consumers from hackers and other data breach events.
I tried to close my PP account but PayPal refuses to close the account AND refuses to return my money in my account to me--even to the same bank I've used for the past decade with Paypal. This is exactly why so many people are abandoning traditional banks and choosing to invest in technology that allows us to be our own banks. These increasingly intrusive laws turn private, free citizens back into subjects of the state. And these companies, like PayPal, use these new laws as excuses to keep your money "legally" if you don't want to give them even more private information and put yourself at increased risk. Reprehensible.

So a few months back, PayPal changed banks. They did away with the no payments for 6 months which was annoying but their decision. I liked using the no interest for 6 months so it wasn't a big deal. I always pay my purchases off before the 6 months. However, in the last 60 days, I have had issue after issue. If you make a payment on a no interest plan BEFORE 30 days that it comes due, they don't credit it to the one that expires the soonest. If you want it credited that way, you have to call them, wait on hold for forever, and have them do it. Ok. Lesson learned. So I started scheduling an additional lump sum payment in addition to my auto pay.
Well, somehow (which btw no one from PayPal can tell me how) my auto pay that was set up for more than 12 months suddenly stopped. No notice. I found it while reconciling my bank statement that they never took the payment. They did agree to refund the late fees, which was nice, but again...annoying. So I set up the auto payment again, for the minimum monthly due and I schedule a lump sum for two lines I have coming due that month so that between the two, it was more than enough to cover the full amount that was about to expire.
I logged on again today to check that it was allocated correctly, and found that they took the lump sum, then canceled my auto pay for the month saying that there was $0.00 due so my payment actually ended up being short, now causing me to pay the accrued interest. There was no indication in any of the emails that this would happen. It's not on the statement. It's not in their help center. It's nowhere that this is a documented process. The minimum payment due when the statement closes is what should be the amount due and the amount taken if they allow you to make additional payments. This is insane. I hope this gets fixed or I will be taking my business elsewhere and looking for an attorney.

How about a class action lawsuit? I'm sure you've ripped off many others as you have me! Made a purchase using PayPal, my preferred payment method on PayPal is PayPal Credit. So why is it that PayPal took it from my checking account? If PayPal can't honor their agreement with the customer, they shouldn't be offered as a payment option. Sounds shady and illegal to me. Let's see if a judge agrees!?

I have been a member in good standing of PayPal since 2015. I do not have any chargebacks nor any complaints. Out of the blue on April 18th 2019 PayPal decided to put a permanent limitation on my account. Essentially freezing all my funds and not allowing me to use their service anymore. What I would like to know is what do they think I did? I reviewed their “Acceptable Use Policy” and can find nowhere that I have violated it. They are holding over $**** of my funds that I am not able to access for six months. I need this money so that I can continue running my business. I do not think it is fair to banned me from PayPal especially when I have not committed any crimes.
I contacted PayPal and told them I would like to start an appeal. All they did was send me back another form letter saying that I violated their acceptable use policy but did not indicate what specifically I violated. There have been many, many other people that have been terminated under false pretenses all over the world. This is a common complaint about PayPal. What I’m looking for is:
1) For all of my funds, to be immediately sent to my bank account.2) To reinstate me into PayPal as a member in good standing.
3) Explain to me what specifically they are saying I did wrong and apologize.
Again I have no complaints against me, no chargebacks and I’ve had zero issues with PayPal from the beginning. I am a small business owner and it is unconscionable that PayPal without warning, decides to hold my business and my money hostage. PayPal has not explained what is going on despite many attempts to contact someone over there. I warn anyone against putting their money or doing any business with PayPal.

Two days ago, after seeing on a PayPal screen that they did no-fee transfers to relatives, I attempted to reimburse $$ my son had fronted for airfare. The process went poorly, confusingly, and it seemed to "stick" in the middle. I decided it was a "no-go". However the next day my son was able to claim the transfer, but contrary to PayPal's promise, he was charged an unreasonable $55 fee.
When I called to complain, the rep told me that I had made an erroneous choice on a screen I saw. EXCEPT I WASN'T SHOWN THAT SCREEN THAT DAY, AND I WILL SWEAR IT ON THE STRENGTH OF 50+ YEARS IN PRESBYTERIAN MINISTRY. The rep was unmoved, but did give me the address of the corporate office. I have closed my account, will write my complaint to corporate -- including a copy to the Maryland state AG -- and am happy to denigrate PayPal here. Their complaint process is insulting. Didn't notice because I didn't buy anything for a few months until I logged in to make a payment on a purchase and found out that there was an outstanding balance. I called PayPal and explained that I didn't think I'd bought $27 through credit but wanted to pay it off. I explained that I hadn't purchased through the credit tab and if I did it was by accident. She agreed and waived the fees and said I wouldn't be affected.
Now I'm trying to buy another computer and my PayPal credit account was closed because I was 90 days late. I explained what happened and then I got the "Circle Your Wagons" I can't do anything circle. On Jan 18th, I went to my post local office in Euless to have them to trace the tracking number and print me a report (Product Tracking & Reporting) so that I can show that I was scammed. Paying off a “closed” PayPal Credit account “on time” with around 60% of every payment going towards interest (If payment is late, the late fee of $37 plus the interest makes my balance HIGHER than before making a payment!!!) and the customer service representative stated “the interest is higher in the earlier payments and decreases when it’s closer to paid off”... So after having over 70% percent of my initial balance paid off, how is it legal to say “60% of each payment going towards interest is the interest charged to early payments”. This account is at 19.99% annual rate. I’ve been making payments for years, having over 60% of ALL my payments going ONLY towards interest (not the account balance) on a CLOSED account is fraud. *Non-published edit* I used hypothetical balances but I've decided I should use all real legit numbers and info. The marriage started off fantastic. $99 gets you 6 month, no interest financing??? Who does that? On top. No monthly payments required? Say what? Then the honeymoon period was over. And she slowly started to change on me. Now she wants money every month. Became very high maintenance and made me monitor her actions due to poor money management. What a complete bipolar attitude change ìn just a few months
So it was 2018. Now 2019. And creditors Still have no self allocation tools on their sites for customers. A unnecessary hassle in these times. I should have a pay boxes next to every balance. That doesn't exist. So call customer service with no do it yourself. Now I have to talk to people. Expect a small amount of human error when doing so.
My biggest gripe is well, a couple things. 1. No normal plans (i.e. 6, 12, 18, 24, 36 month no interest). 2. Payment Hierarchy. 3. Disallowing customers to allocate their "minimum payments". 4. Dumb allocations. 5. NOT listing the non-promo/standard balance on site. 6. No self allocation tools for each individual balance. 7. Abandoned NO monthly payments option.
I have a couple of their 24 month "Hard" pay plans. Now this is supposed to be equal payments. Problem is their system can't do math. One is 24.95/m the other is 7.55/m. The 1st was a promo for eBay. Spend $600. I literally only had 600 left on my limit of $1,000. I got a tablet (598.80) for my nephew bday 6/2019. Had to find something for $1.20 exactly. Some useless eye pencil. Done. They split them up on the bill. 24.95/m + 0.05/m. I decided to pay the whole $1.20 'cause it was like Arsenio telling his guy to stop shooting that little gun in Harlem Nights. Annoying. My credit line was increased the next month to 2,000. I made another purchase for my niece & nephew of a bunk bed (549.99) + mattress (181.22). The bunk was cancelled because I don't do business where curbside delivery is involved. Paypal allowed me to keep the 24/m promo with the just the mattress??? Also I have five 6 month promotions.
As of Feb '19 I have a tiny non-promotional balance of $34.82. So in the hierarchy the 24 comes first. I got the one for $24.95/m in Oct. 2018 and the $7.55/m Nov. 2018. They add it together to $32.50 a month. Plus the other balances gets me a minimum pay of $59.50. When I make a payment their system won't pay it in the way you'd expect. For instance. 24.95 (stop - 34.55 left), 7.55 (stop - 27 left). Apply rest to non-promo. If none the next promo expiring so as not to charge you interest. You can pay more on your own. Simple right? Nope. What it will do is allocate $30+ to the 24.95/m. Maybe $5 to the 7.55/m. Then spread the 27 around wildly (unless you have less than two months due on a promo). Worst it will tack on some of that $27 to MORE of the 24 month pay. So in 3 months of paying 24.95 my balance should've been 523.95 instead it was 509.85. Mind you I have other promotions set to expire THIS YEAR!
Even when I make separate payments to make it child's play for their machine it STILL messes up. Basically (stealing) misallocating my money in a way that does a disservice. But when you question them about it they'll quote you some line out of their handbook. "It's for your benefit"??? Overpaying on a promo that's not due for 2 YEARS! How does that help me when I have debt due sooner? Effectively if not purposely making it more difficult to pay my debt off. Because those misallocated funds add up. Plus hampering you from spacing out your payments for as long as possible. The claim is it's due to excess. But how is there excess when there are other balances for the $27 to go to? The very reason they claim my minimum payment is the current amount to begin with???
Illogical, Irrational and Incompetent. For this they should feel some ignominy but I was met with condescension by one supervisor. Sort of braggadocio about the whole process. Regular customer service has always been helpful and polite though. I have to say NEVER use their 24 month easy pay. Especially IF you have other promos or plan to down the line. I certainly won't again. There's also an issue with not showing the correct payments left at times. But If they are a line of credit in which you'd use once for something specific and you can go to 2 years without using it again or don't mind overpaying it won't be bad for you. Also I use them for purchasing on unfamiliar sites for the perception of them being secure. So far no problems there.
So in summary. Too many changes for the worst. Poor choice of payment plans. Terrible allocations with no self allocation tools (or even choices for auto-allocation). Another major issue. No option on site to pay with a debit card. Only bank account or mail (???). I just scrubbed years worth of plans for PayPal Credit. Down to 1 purcahse a year (if that) for B.T.S. items. So very disappointing. 'Favorable Regression'. Coining the term for Paypal and others to follow and apply. *Phew* That was a lot. TL;DR? If it looks too good to be true...

PayPal Credit advertise that they would cover you up to 6 months interest fee. But as I later found out this will not cover money's sent or money received without an invoice. This was not made clear and you will be charged interest regardless. Also no way to do a credit transfer only bank transfer so it's the worst thing that can happen. Do not fall for the PayPal Credit advertisements, they are not clear on what kind of transactions are covered. Avoid it!

I took advantage of the six months with no interest or interest option. My payment was due on December 13 and I mailed the full payment on November 29th. Because of the Christmas rush PayPal processing was behind and they didn’t process my check until December 20th. On the 16th I was notified that my account was charged the accrued interest. I called their customer service and was told not to worry, that when the payment is processed the postmark would be examined and the interest charge would be reversed. On January 12th I received an email showing that the check was processed but the interest charge was not reversed. I called again and was told they had no idea when my payment was postmarked and would not reverse the charge. I have a perfect payment record with them and an 832 credit score, yet they treated me like dirt and stole a few dollars from me. I will never do business with PayPal again.

A call to PayPal today to ask why a eBay payment went DIRECTLY into PayPal Credit and not thru the usual channels. OMG! I also ended up (after 2 hours and 9 different "transfers) "speaking" with that same #METOO phony Liberal female who did nothing but "read the rules." Speaking with? No, just LISTEN to her go on and on and on and... Her only job is to talk in circles, constantly repeating Payment Settings, lying about eBay's involvement with PayPal Credit, lying about PayPal's email to me 1 hour before, "You have the wrong settings" and so on. "I told you but you tried to interrupt me, so I'll read the Rules to you again!" Previous to getting stuck with this #METOO female, a MALE manager agreed with me that the eBay transaction had INCORRECTLY ended up in PayPal Credit. "I see your account settings and you are right." Then SHE comes on the phone and basically says I'm stupid and rude.
PayPal is illegally channeling payments into people's Credit accounts instead of the process (settings) set up in their PayPal accounts. This is ILLEGAL If I don't SELECT PayPal Credit they can't LEGALLY ADD to my Credit account! Is PayPal now run by a female? Could be. Steal as much money as she can from customers before they close their account - then REPORT THAT PAYPAL CLOSED THAT ACCOUNT DUE TO POOR PERFORMANCE. The same happens if YOU close YOUR PayPal Credit account! Then spend months trying to get the credit reporting agencies to correct PayPal's false statements! Say anything against that phony female and PayPal will attack you (they're now saying my account has "suspicious activity" and have put "limits" on your account. Really!

I made a purchase using PayPal Credit with 6 months to pay the balance in full. I later made an additional purchase. I made payments that would have covered both the original payments and payments to cover the second purchase. Instead of PayPal crediting both purchases, they credited the second purchase only. After realizing this, one month prior to the first purchase expiring, I contacted PayPal Credit only to be told that the first purchase did not require payments for 6 months so the payments were not applied. Excuse me? If I'm making additional payments, why would none of them be applied to a six month purchase and only applied to the twenty-four month purchase? Sounds stupid right? Anyway, I paid the first purchase in full the next month. What did PayPal Credit do? Apply most of the payment to the first purchase, and applied enough of my payment towards the second payment in order to make sure that I had to pay the accrued interest.
By the way, the automatic payment that was scheduled was canceled by PayPal Credit so that a portion of the payment towards the first payment would apply to the second purchase. Get it... covering their butts! My intention is to pay the balance that I have twenty four months to pay in full off as quickly as I can and then I will NEVER use PayPal Credit again. And as an aside, I contacted the BBB about the situation and PayPal Credit did not respond through the BBB, they sent me a BS letter telling me that they recorded the conversation and the agent did her job well. I also record my phone calls PayPal Credit and she was rude!!! Thanks for nothing!
The moral of this story is DON'T USE PAYPAL CREDIT! It may sound good but they are the worst credit card company. I have other companies that I deal with that have the same type of no interest if paid... and they don't do these types of things. If you feel so compelled to use PayPal Credit buyer beware. DO NOT purchase more than one purchase on PayPal Credit and expect them to credit them as you would like. If you do, good luck. I'm sure you will be just like me... extremely disgusted and thinking that it was not worth the trouble at all.

Little did I know but the 27th was still part of the October billing statement (a fact that isn't specified anywhere) and thus was never applied to my November statement. I then logged into my account to make a payment after getting my next statement and see that I am now past due and was charged a $27 late fee. The customer service representative was fairly rude and matter of fact about this being the case with every credit card. Going to pay off my balance and close this account as soon as possible.

Never received. Very small of money but the principle is I am suppose to have buyer's protection no matter what. When I tried to file a buyer's protection claim they left me on hold for 30 minutes then hung up on me. The seller can give any tracking number they want and PayPal stands with them. Even if you file a police report in regards to item never being received.
My amounts are 13.97 and 9.99. I am closing account due to not having a consumer protection. They are falsifying an ad and I will be looking into legal actions in regards to this matter. I have had a PayPal Credit account for about 3 yrs now, no problems. Recently received PayPal Credit invitations to update my financial info to take advantage of promotional offers. I updated the info and inquired about requesting a credit line increase. I was instructed to make a purchase over the amount of my available balance and it would trigger a review of my financial info and payment history (always paid on time or early and always more than minimum) and would result in either a credit line increase or a decline of the purchase (to then be paid for by another method). This seemed bizarre to me but I was assured it would constitute a soft hit to my credit and was the only way to request a credit line increase.
I made a purchase on eBay, paid thru PayPal Credit and it went over my balance by $77.46. PayPal Credit paid it but after a follow up with them I learn that my credit line increase will be determined on a per item basis and I wouldn't ever actually know ahead of time the amount that would be my new limit. I would discover that when at the time of an eventual purchase I was declined. This is crazy credit. I spoke with (2) PayPal Credit reps and neither rep ever explained this. Turns out it is buried in the terms of service and I had to have a supervisor guide me to it. I will be paying out and closing my account and looking for other options not associated with PayPal Credit.

I just wanted to write this in case others are reading who may be thinking of getting a PayPal Credit account. It is awesome!! I love it and use it all the time. In over 6 years, I have never paid one cent in interest or fees. I pay my balance off every month (for any amount under $99 that I will owe for right away). Anytime I make a purchase over $99 I get 6 months to pay if they accept Paypal, yes please!!! If I am making a purchase at Bed Bath and Beyond for example and it is over $99, I will go home and order it online, use PayPal credit and now I get more time to pay. Best part.... They don't report to Credit Bureaus... YES!! So I may owe $5000 to PayPal, have 6 months to pay it off, and my credit looks like I don't owe anything.
My 3 real FICO scores range from 818 to 831, so I obviously have great credit, but it is up to you to take care of this stuff and pay attention to your bills. I am reading so many complaints, of how people never checked their email, or never went online to check their account. I mean???? That is your own fault, not PayPal. I have never had a problem, and anytime I have had to call cust service, they were attentive. The bill could not be easier to read. It literally tells you on your prior statement: AMOUNT THAT NEEDS TO BE PAID IN ORDER TO AVOID INTEREST: $XX. How could they be more transparent?? If I am not making a purchase over $99 and I accidentally leave the payment on PayPal credit (which is my default) then I know that amount needs to be paid off by next billing statement or I will be charged interest (that is why I always check my prior bill to see what I owe).
Bottom line, if you paid 1 day past the 6 months, then that's your fault!!! The rules are that you get 6 months, set a timer on your calendar to remind you if that is what you need to do, but take responsibility for your own actions! You screwed up. And for the people that say PayPal only cares about getting their money back???? UH, YA! They're a lender, and they want their money back, cause you owe it to them! Quit crying, and try staying on top of your finances. A lot of people whining, due to increase in interest rate (why are you paying interest on anything?) If you can't afford it, don't buy it or use another credit card w a lower rate. And if you sign up for no interest, know the details and be sure you are w/in the terms. If you understand what the terms are, and you are on top of your bills, this is the best thing since sliced bread!!!
Oh, and every year, they increase my credit limit by like $1400, so I have like 12k limit w/out ever coming anywhere near that limit, I have never attempted to purchase anything over my limit, thereby needing additional credit, so they will increase it as time goes on and you are known to be a good and responsible risk. I VERY HIGHLY RECOMMEND PAYPAL CREDIT!

I have had PayPal for quite a while and have never really had an issue with them. However, this new update that went out regarding minimum balances due on all of the bills fails to advise that if you make additional payments on balances that are coming due, they arbitrarily apply the payment toward the interest free balances that have a longer time frame. So, while you think you are paying down balances that are coming due, beware when you get slapped with accrued interest charges on balances that were not paid off that you thought you were paying off because they want to get the balances with the longer no interest balances paid off. This way, they maximize their rate of return on the 2 year interest free balances!!! Very sneaky and underhanded, just thought consumers should know that this is PayPal new strategy. This way you are not blindsided with balances you thought were paid off and interest fees!!!

I made some purchases on PayPal Credit adding up to a few hundred dollars. And started making my payments as the site requested, and then paid more above the minimum. But the money never reached the cost of the items that I purchased. Every month I got a bill that was higher and higher. As they kept tacking on accrued interest, and a 27.00 monthly fee with no explanation as to what that was for. So I have paid more than double the cost of my items, and the bill is now 276.00 dollars and rising.
Because none of my money was applied towards the actual purchases that I made. Instead they make up excuses for multiple accrued interests that I owe, and tack on that 27.00 fee, to make sure that I can never pay off this bill. AVOID PAYPAL CREDIT at all costs. It is a scam. They will not allow you to pay specifically for the items you purchased, so that you're stuck paying their ridiculously high monthly fees first. And the money will not go towards your purchases. I paid off the 276.00 today in full. And I will guarantee that they try to tack on some other stupid fees to keep the account in the negative. I will never use PayPal Credit again for anything.

Totally understood the terms and conditions, but I figured I'd give it a try. The terms are far too open ended, and I don't think I'll be giving a try on a similar product. Seriously, "PayPal Credit may not be offered as a funding source for every purchase. Some PayPal merchants don't accept PayPal Credit" is fine. But "In addition, please note that even if a merchant offers PayPal Credit as a way to pay, PayPal reserves the right to restrict your ability to use your credit line depending on the circumstances of each purchase" is a joke. It's one thing to have, say, a Care Credit account and KNOW that you're only limited to medical related expenses. It's another thing to not know what in the world you're limited to, it's like why even bother trying to make a purchase? It feels like a waste of time and I'm seriously hoping that PayPal will re-consider their 'case-by-case basis' purchase method with this card.

I imagine July 2nd I'll find that letter or an email stating they dropped my limit to .30 above my current balance simply to screw with my credit score. Paypal Credit was the one thing that allowed me to give my business to someone other than Amazon. Without PP Credit I have zero incentive to wait for shipping from other providers.
I can't wait for the full account changes to be published, I am guessing there will be something in there about missing a payment will terminate promos and jack rates even higher. Problem numeral uno with Public Companies, they do stupid stuff to please stockholders even if it hurts the very merchants that rely on its service or even in reality hurts the brand. I can predict merchants dumping PayPal and moving exclusively to affirm. But the Paypal investors won't care because there will be higher margins on the merchants they have left.
I feel bad for the people that have perfect credit and still get this high rate. Yes it's the way store cards operate, until now Paypal Credit was the lone exception. Looking back at the articles regarding this from last November, it's a good and safe bet that Synchrony will get the 19.99 Comenity used to get, and Paypal will get the rest. I've been a PayPal Credit user since it was Bill Me Later. I use it many, many times a month because it's so convenient. Always pay my bill on time, always more than the min. and always pay off the no interest balance before they are due. My last statement was returned to them by the post office, this was an issue with my post office not PayPal Credit, but, I contacted PayPal Credit as soon as I got the notice that the statement was returned to make sure everything was ok on their side of things. They confirmed the address was correct, and said everything was fine. It was a less than 2 minute phone call. This morning, I logged on to my PayPal Credit account to check the status of a payment. I noticed it said I had zero credit available, instead of the several thousands of credit I should have available. I figured it was a website issue (as it seems to go down for maintenance at least once a month) but I decided to call anyway.
I was told not only was it correct, my account had been put on "hold" because of the returned statement. I told the rep that I had already called and discussed the issue with them and was told that everything was fine, she questioned when I had called, which was less than a week ago. She told me the rep I talked to earlier in the week should have explained everything she said next... She told me that not only was my account on "hold" they could not do anything about it until JULY, because the bank is changing. I questioned why I was not told there was an issue when I called earlier in the week, and why they could not do anything about it since I had already verified all my info for them. She then stated they needed to send me information about the bank change over and because it was returned to them and that is why my account was on "hold" (wait... I thought it was the returned statement??).
She then said, regardless, they would not be able to do anything about it until July because "this change over needs to happen, and is important" (clearly their customers are not), never mind that I did exactly what I was supposed to and contacted them, and they told me there was no issue... From reading the other recent reviews, I assume what they want to send me is a notice telling me of the bank and APR change...and like everyone else, that APR is a deal breaker for me. Great way to treat your loyal customers PayPal Credit.

If I can work with the IRS and their accounting systems, why is Paypal Credit so impossible to understand.

I just received a letter today informing me that due to a change in the credit issuer and "market conditions" (huh?), the Paypal credit interest rate for purchases is now 25.49%. My credit rating is excellent and merely 2 points below the very top. Any banker who charges this kind of interest rate for regular purchases should be tarred and feathered and escorted out of town on a donkey. That politicians would allow this type of highway robbery should tell us how deeply corrupt our government truly is, a government that no longer represents us but represents corporations and Wall Street almost exclusively (as everyone should know by now).

Something seriously wrong with PayPal Credit. I was having a problem with my PayPal account switching to PayPal Credit when making a purchase. This would happen even though I had changed the settings. I made a small $7.99 purchase in February and after the fact noticed that the charge had been applied to PayPal Credit rather than my checking account. I called PayPal and spoke to a rep who advised me to just pay off the $7.99. I did that and it appears on my account as being paid. Suddenly this month I received notice that I had an overdue payment of $14.99. Did not make any sense because there was no record of a purchase for $14.99. Called customer service at PayPal and after some back and forth was told I was charged a late fee and interest on the $7.99. I said I wanted to protest the charge.
This call was relayed to a supervisor who told the agent to tell me that the problem occurred because I paid the account too EARLY. The supervisor would not speak to me only relay info through the agent. The supervisor said my payment "should" have been made on the 20th of the month and I paid it earlier so I would be charged interest for paying it too early. They refused to remove the extra fees even though they could plainly see that the original charge had been paid. Instead, they refunded my original $7.99 payment the day of the call leaving me to pay a charge of $14.99. I paid it today rather than have it hanging over me but I do not know what to do as a recourse. Perhaps I am dense and can't grasp the logic of this. Or perhaps this is how PayPal chooses to take advantage of unsuspecting customers by charging interest and late fees on an amount that was paid too early. This seems fraudulent.

I've been a good customer of PayPal Bill Me Later for several years now. Always made my payments on time, never late, no problems at all. My credit is very good. Yesterday (5/02/18) I receive a letter in the mail from PayPal Credit dated 4/12/2018 stating that effective 7/02/18, the lender and owner of my PayPal Credit account (including any existing balances) is changing from Comenity Capital Bank to Synchrony Bank, and that my APR for purchases will be increasing to 25.49% So let me get this straight: longtime record of on-time payments, good customer, good credit rating, and they reward this with a ridiculous APR increase? Nope. Goodbye-taking my business elsewhere.

I just paid off my account in full and will NEVER use this company again. I also plan on researching to find out who I can speak to or write a letter to at corporate. So I haven't been able to buy chips or logic analyzers or just about anything else with PayPal Credit, even though I have a healthy credit limit and never get anywhere near it. Just give up & use another CC every time. Because PayPal Credit is an unmitigated POS. Finally escalated this ongoing issue today to first Customer Service, then Tech support. The problem seems to be their merchant classification system, and how few merchants they actually offer PayPal Credit to as an option to.
"PayPal has not authorized this classification of merchant for payment using PayPal Credit." is the answer I'm getting from the customer service rep. But she can't give me the list of classifications that ARE authorized to receive payment using PayPal Credit, nor is she able to say what the merchant's "classification" is currently set to that is blocking this transaction.
When I pressed her to give me a few hints as to what kinds of merchants ARE and ARE NOT in the creditable categories, she gave "Firearms" as an example of merchants/items they do not offer credit for. These are LOGIC ANALYZERS and ARDUINO CHIPS, lady, not GUNS! Know the difference! Besides the mysterious undisclosed "merchant classification" PayPal Credit uses, is the fact that many merchants simply DO NOT ACCEPT PayPal Credit for payment. Oh, they don't TRUST you, PayPal? Gee, I WONDER WHY! This I discovered on further investigation with the vendors. But you don't get told that until AFTER PayPal Credit has been offered, then declined. NICE. Thanks, PayPal.
What prompted me to look into this annoying ongoing issue of being offered PayPal Credit with "buy now, get 6 months to pay" as a payment option on purchases, only to see it mysteriously declined, was a small charge that HAD gone through -- which I had not authorized. Specifically, I'd bought some concert tickets with TicketMaster (aka TicketBastard) where they'd tacked on a $15.98 insurance fee, noted ONLY in the fine print of the issued ticket, with the option to "opt out" on response to an email that winds up inevitably in your spam (SCAM) inbox. Nice, huh? Sure, they probably had some default-checked box somewhere way off-screen on the initial order so they could claim that you'd ordered this.
But does PayPal Credit have "scam insurance charges tacked on to ticket purchases" as one of the "merchant classifications" they exclude? Of course not. I wonder how much of a kickback Allianz Global Assistance and Ticketmaster paid PayPal Credit to have THOSE charges go through without question. NOTE the use of FINE PRINT in the ticket receipt.

I didn't know there was a PayPal Credit and I had no reason to charge my $44 dollar purchase to their service. I was unaware that by pushing this button I opened an account with my PayPal credentials. So I'm clueless that there is this charge because I'm not opening the notices they send to a email account I don't use. I finally figure out that what I thought was unsolicited sales calls was this credit department trying to collect. Charge was made January 9 for $44.99 to date interest and late fees from an account I didn't know I had 73.99. I tried to resolve this matter and the best they could do is to credit back one late fee. I have been scammed.

Credit means that creditors have granted financial resources to an individual that does not belong to him/her. However, the individual would pay back those financial resources in a timely manner but how can an individual build his/her credit file if that individual is never given an opportunity. I did have a reputable title and the means to be sustainable to pay back a granted credit. However, Some of those who rejected me, were well-known companies who announce themselves as benevolent but their decisions show that they are incompetent or bias and I should hold them accountable for their mistakes.
However, I will not do it since I am not cut off by the same bread as those companies. On the other hand I am to recommend PayPal credit and the reason is not just because PayPal credit was the only one who entrusted me with credit but also because PayPal credit is convenient and an individual is even able to pre-order and set up pick up and instructions with the places that PayPal is contracted with and another great feature is that PayPal credit allows individuals to send money through PayPal credit.
Also, customer services representatives are available and they are helpful and I know that out there a lot of people have negative opinions about the PayPal credit but those opinions formed from the fact that some people either do not trust PayPal or do not understand how PayPal works and that is one of my reasons for submitting my review about PayPal credit line - To debunk those fictional opinions that people have formed and which are based on myths without substance and also another reason for submitting this review is to honor PayPal who acted in the right way and also in an impartial way when it made the decision to grant me its credit line.

You find out about the "late fee" and how much it is AFTER it's applied. No warning to new users, but now I know, they will never get me again. If you make single purchases, pay off the balance, it's fine. The account summary calculates a monthly payment. The confusion sets in when you make 2-3 purchases. If you follow the monthly payment request, it leaves you short, and subject to their interest rates they tack on each month on the account balance. Solution: do your own math, break down the cost of EACH item to be paid in 6 months, make the payment a FEW days before the deadline, because they do not take into consideration processing time, weekends, holidays --basically it has to actually post to your account to avoid late fees (25+ dollars) and interest fees, EACH time.
They got me only once because I had made extra payments, and had not paid attention to their monthly due date. I was ahead of my payments, but it does not matter. Interest + late fee will be charged and added to your bill. So that's like 25+19.99% interest on your balance added with EVERY late fee. Be careful with these predatory lenders.

Unfortunately, PayPal wasn't required to pick it up in time to post it before the due day. It should be posted according to the postmark, not an individual worker's opinion.

Generally, I have had no issues with PayPal credit. I've used them for years to pay off large purchases over 6 months with no interest (and before when it was Bill Me Later). Anyone who uses credit needs to read the terms of the credit line and how payment amounts are determined and applied to balances and if you don't like that policy, then don't use it. Items returned have always been credited properly within 30 days. The only issue I have had was how "the minimum amount due to avoid interest charges" was calculated. In general, you should only have to pay any standard purchases plus any promotional balances due to avoid interest each month.
However, they apply payments to promotions due the following month with each payment before they apply any payments to the standard balance. Therefore, the standard balance can continue to grow until you have 2 months with no promotional balances due thus making your minimum due to avoid interest higher than it should be. The application of payment amounts actually describes it this way on their website. Overall, it all works out in the end and I never pay any interest, just sometimes I have to pay more than expected which goes against their "no payments for 6 months" statement. Key to using Paypal credit... ALWAYS PAY "THE MINIMUM AMOUNT TO AVOID INTEREST" AMOUNT EACH AND EVERY MONTH... You may need to actually look at the full statement (paper or .pdf version) to find this amount.

Instead, of them listening to me they took sides against me for LovelyWholesale telling them lies that they sent me those item to me and they did not. Because I kept e-mailing them about the items and I told them not to send those items to the wrong address. They did it anyway and started playing games with me. Such as asking me was the wrong address, was the right address and I had already told them not to send the item to wrong address. They were playing games with me.
I put both payments in the same envelope. Instead, of PayPal credit refunding my money to me the $21.34 and did not add the $80 to my account that I was paying them. They added the $21.34 to my account and did not add the $80. They kept my money and they could see that there were 2 different account numbers on them. And one of those account numbers did not belong to them. The money order was made out to PayPal master card. But, this is their way of trying to get even with me.
I have the copies of both of those money orders and I can prove it to you that I have them. I am asking for your support to help me resolve this issue. My belief is that I am working with different people since I moved to this location. These are some very unkind people and the reason why I am saying this is because I can detect the way they talk that, they are working on LovelyWholesale side against me and LovelyWholesale is lying to them about they shipped those items to me and they know they didn't ship them to me. I even told them not to ship those item to the wrong address. They have my new address listed in their system and have shipped an order here at my new address before.
PayPal are not trying to help me get a refund back from them They are just denying me pretending that they opened a case and I don't believe it. They are working on LovelyWholesale side. Every time I kept e-mailing them about my orders. They will respond back to me with a few short words. They will tell me "Have a nice day." I called up USPS and they told me that those items went back to China. Please help me resolve this issue PayPal credit are the ones that involved themselves in this complaint because they should have listened to me instead, of listening them lying.
Now, that PayPal have beef at me for their own wrongdoings. I suggest that, they save it because they might need it for dinner. I don't appreciate it when people are doing me wrong and I'm trying to do them right by being a good customer of theirs and paying my bills to them promptly. I need your help and please respond back to me because I need somebody's help to help me resolve this issue. You have my best regards. Thank you and god bless.

PAYPAL WARNING. I have a credit account that I use the 6 months to pay option pretty frequently. I pay it off and never pay interest so it has worked well so far. On December 18th, I made a purchase using that option. I had over $2000 available so there was no reason for it to be a problem as it was only about $400. On December 19th, Paypal did a security decline with no explanation on the account and took every penny from my bank account. There was no warning at checkout that the items had been declined through Paypal credit so it appeared everything went through as usual. I was none the wiser until today (12/20) when I saw the transactions had hit my account yesterday.
I called Paypal and there is nothing they can do. I escalated to supervisor after supervisor (and had to re-explain time after time until I got the last one who was condescending) nm and the only thing they will do from here is allow me to submit a complaint in writing. Even then, they could not tell me what the issue was or whether or not they would fix it.
The reason I'm writing this is that there was NO WARNING. There was no opportunity for me to decline having the money taken from checking. There was no chance for me to change my mind. It did not give me any alert that it had been declined. It appeared to go through with no issue and then my checking was hit. And because I'd used several vendors, it was multiple transactions so if I'd had a lower balance in my checking account, it would have caused multiple overdrafts. I am fortunate because it was definitely unexpected right before Christmas.
The representative said an email is sent within 24 to 48 hours. Mind you, the money is already gone from my account and all packages have already been shipped so that email will be pretty late if I ever get it. Even though I have paypal and paypal credit in my safe email list, I checked my spam folders, my junk mail, and even my backup email accounts and, as of this writing, I have received no email.
I am warning everyone because $400 in about 7 or 8 transactions is a pretty good hit out of my checking account right before Christmas. If we had been living paycheck to paycheck like we did when we were younger, this could have been far worse for us. I don't want this to happen to someone else so this is strictly for warning.

I could resell later. She made a claim afterwards with Paypal, claiming she was in Canada and wanted a refund and didn't want to pay for the shipping, a scam obviously, and wanted me to pay for return postage from Canada, and I refused. I have reported this several times, and nothing has been done.
Paypal later gave her a refund, and let her keep the item. The return label was never used, and the item not returned, yet they will not refund me for the label that cost me money. That my friends this is the new policy of Paypal and eBay, there is no seller protection. This person went on to give the worse negative feedback because I questioned her and called her on the emails she sent, which clearly showed she was lying from the very beginning about her location.
EBay and PayPal have done absolutely nothing about it. I am being treated like the bad guy, even though I followed their policies to the letter. There is no way to contact eBay, and PayPal will soon follow suit. I had to ask her several times to discontinue harassing me, which she continued to do even after she received the refund and kept the item, and they did absolutely nothing about that either. EBay owns PayPal, so beware, they are one big conglomerate. IT IS VERY SAD TO ME THAT THEY ARE VERY HARD TO REACH ON THE PHONE, A WAIT OF SOMETIMES AN HOUR AND A HALF. Then they ask if they can call you back, it took me over a day to connect with them once! Customer service can use some servicing!
It is inconceivable to me that a company who clearly had access to email transmissions, did not access them and see that she gave three different stories. I called back again and was told that due to the trigger, I would not be able to complete the transaction, and I could not be told when my credit would be available again. This put me in a terrible position since I was already in possession of the item, based on being told I could now complete the transaction, and now had no way of delivering the funds. When I spoke to a supervisor I was told there is no way to override the security trigger. This is unacceptable. To not have a solution to this problem is lazy and shows little effort to consider the customer's situation.
The one solution I was given was that I could cancel the transaction. Cancel the transaction on an item I had been searching for 6 months, and drove 3 hours to get? Not to mention the security trigger was due to my lack of PayPal credit history. I have "Excellent" credit. My credit history is exactly what was checked prior to giving me the account. Why do you need your own set of data to determine if you can loan me money? Like I'm going to blow two decades of building credit for $3k on a PayPal account. I don't know how I could ever use PayPal credit in the future or recommend it to anyone else, especially when there are so many other outlets available now. I have been on the phone with them every day because I have been approved with PayPal Credit, after going through all the security and finally getting my credit line released. They told me I can now start using it. Now I have been trying to purchase off of my credit line and it will not let me. Everything I try declines. From $5 to more expensive. They said add a bank account. Did that still nothing! They said add a debit card. Did that still nothing! Now I have to find a different way to purchase my merchandise. I would have not applied for credit if I had the whole amount in my account! This is ridiculous. PayPal Credit workers are amazing but PayPal staff that you have to deal with for customer service is horrible and NO help.

After more than 8 years with this bank off, and on, I reopened an account under Paypal Credit. During any promotional purchase which is billed with interest after 6 months - to 2 years; just say if the item you purchase is returned, Comenity Bank does not refund your money, it stays on your account as promotion; which means you still pay the interest even though you don't have that item anymore. Isn't that illegal?
Another consumer unknowing travesty they commit is once you setup your Paypal account they do not allow you to change your payment date at all. Not even to change it from the first of the month to the middle for the necessity to those who get a paycheck once a month from their jobs. Therefore if you think you will start an account with Paypal Credit then change the date you are to pay them - don't get involved. Stay away. I sell quite a bit online, and I purchase online therefore PP line of credit is convenient for most transactions. However this bank is doing some shady stuff; believe me!

I opened a PayPal Credit account when I was just starting out around 18 years old. I've had it for about 5 years and I've never had problems with being able to make transactions. That said, I've never really tried to use PayPal credit outside of online purchases. I primarily used it for eBay and certain other online retailers. The PROBLEM with PayPal Credit, aside from a steep interest rate, is the "Bill Me Later" option. In other words, when you use credit rather than your PayPal balance. ESPECIALLY on those "no interest for 6 months" charges. Because what they don't tell you is that, when you pay your balance, the first thing your payment goes toward is the no interest charges. That is, you're NOT paying off the balance that DOES have interest. Thus, the interest on the rest of your balance continues to climb.
Now, that's not an issue if the only charges you make are the interest-free ones. But if you make some small purchases here and there with the credit, then you can get into trouble that way. And it's hard to get out once you do that. It would be a very different experience if the payments went toward the part of the balance that is gaining interest. But that's not the case. So be wary.

I received a generous credit line, only to find out that they (PayPal Credit) can pick and chose who you can use this credit with, it is truly NOT a credit line at all. After reading the reviews on this merchant I will be cancelling all accounts with both companies, as something simply does not appear to be on the up and up. Who grants credit and then tells you who you can and cannot use the credit with? Also they NEVER directly spoke with me personally at all, yet allowed Wyndham to setup and make a high dollar purchase on my account. Crazy.

I called the mattress company and made a complaint stating that should not be advertising a credit company on their site that won't even let customers purchase their product if they are not established customers.
I quickly closed my line of credit because what is the point if I have to buy things I don't want just to be able to use it for a 1800$ mattress. Before you apply thinking you will use it for a large purchase beware the customer service rep will say "we reserve the right to approve or decline any purchases per the credit agreement." I don't need a credit limit with these type of stipulations.

They continued to send bills and denied my dispute of charges claim, when they still couldn't tell me what it was for. Problem 4. They referred it to collection, where they also could not tell me what the charge was for. Problem 5. Over the course of a year I had to call them multiple times, and call a collection agency, and call them again before I reached someone competent to tell me exactly what the charge was. Though I never authorized them to do so a purchase that should have gone through my bank account was instead paid by PayPal Credit. That's where it all came from. In the end I paid twice the value of a minor purchase to end the business once and for all, the time and energy wasted on their incompetence and shady practices: PRICELESS.

I received a letter in the mail from collections for $147. In investigating it turns out that my PayPal account which is linked to my checking account was switched to using PayPal Credit. I never switched that. I called PayPal and asked them how that happened, and why PayPal Credit statements were not being sent to my preferred email address. They could not answer. So PayPal Credit changed my preferred payment method, failed to send their statement to my preferred email address, and then assessed my account late fees and interest of $48 (on $99 purchase). It's worth noting that I also never opened a PayPal Credit account and only ever used my PayPal account which was maintained in good standing since 2006.
I immediately called PayPal Credit and paid the outstanding balance and closed the account (the letter I received said my account was closed already but apparently that was false information as well.) Once I closed that account I called regular PayPal to close that account too because at this point I don't trust either company's business practices. PayPal said they can't close my account because I have an open PayPal Credit account. I spent 2.5 hours calling back and forth and escalating the issue with no success. PayPal finally told me to try back in a couple days and see if I can close the account then. That is where I stand, waiting 3 days to try again to close an account which should be as easy as a mouse click. I feel cheated out of $48 dollars and so far 2.5 hours of my time. I feel like a financial company like PayPal and/or PayPal Credit should be regulated a little tighter than this.

So I have been had an account with PayPal for years. And has always made my payments on time. This one time on the due date I call them up to discuss something that I never received. So after the lady was done with assistancing me with that I asked could she take a payment for me and she stated yes. So I promptly given her my acct. info and noticed that it wasn't showing an pending payment. So as hrs. went past I called back to check on the previous payment that I had made over the phone with someone. They told me that it would take about 2 business days since it was coming through my checking acct. I informed them at that time I have never encountered this procedure to perform like this before. But, I rarely wait till the due date to pay and generally pay it online, with my PayPal acct.
I feel that this was done intentionally especially, when days went by for me to discover that I had an late fee. I was so upset especially when I know I set up a payment over the phone with an agent. So I was told that the info that she had gotten was rejected. However, I have always used my prior billing info in the system. They then sent me through different channels of speaking to different people. Until, I finally gotten an supervisor after 2 hrs. later. Telling me that she does see the payment information not to be matching mines prior. But, to allow her to listen to the call and contact me after 2/4 business days or they will call me. What some B.S.
So I made a payment myself through the Paypal app. I'm still pissed because I should of never had this outcome especially with a PayPal representative. Although I realize mistakes do happen. I feel this is ridiculous especially when I'm telling the representative that my payment method is the same and is in your systems. And I verified the info twice. I'm just not satisfied with how I was treated as a number vs. An consumer.

I appreciate companies that use solid security practices, but PayPal Credit (Comenity Capital Bank) and PayPal itself have made my credit account useless due to it being flagged every time I attempt a transaction. Every time I go to make a purchase online using my account, or send someone money, it is denied. This in turn requires a phone call to them, which typically involves a wait, for a total of 30 minutes on average. Every time they say it is due to a security flag on my account. Half the time they verify my identity using public record, at which point I can re-attempt the transaction and it might goes through. The other half of the time there is literally nothing they can do because they cannot override their computer system when the risk level is high. They just say I have to "wait", with no time specified. This is not OK.
This has now required 9 phone calls to them. It often ends up in a finger pointing match between PayPal Credit and PayPal. No one can tell me why my account keeps getting flagged, and no one can fix it permanently. I appreciate security but they have verified my identity so many times now, they know my life story. So essentially, my credit line is useless because it's a shot in the dark each time I try to use it, whether it will work or not. What use is a credit line if it doesn't work regularly, despite having thousands of dollars in available credit? Mind you, these are allowed transactions I'm attempting to make - nothing shady - things like booking hotels on Priceline, or repaying a friend by sending them money.
I would not recommend applying for or using PayPal Credit through Comenity Capital Bank at all. It has become too much work, and I have wasted too much time trying to resolve these issues, and no one can permanently fix the problem. On the other hand, the PayPal Extras credit card issued through Synchrony Bank is excellent (not to get the two products confused).

My PayPal statement are wirelessly sent to me and immediately paid ahead of the due date. The last half of 2016 I made two purchases from two different vendors. Products arrived. I believed I had used PayPal (the real one). Around the first of 2017 I started getting robotic calls which merely stated on my phone as wireless caller. I began to notice that they came every day at the exact same time. So I decided to call back to stop the annoying calls. When I listened to the message it stated my name, that this was a call to collect a debt, and that I could pay on the phone. No way would I ever do that.
Several weeks later I figured out a way to get past the robo call and talk to an actual person. I found out that it was PayPal credit and that I owed a couple hundred dollars. I explained that I had never received a bill from them. When I asked where were they sending the bill, they said it was to my physical address. I told them that I don't get mail at that address and that my mail always comes to a PO box. I live in a rural area and don't get mail delivery at my farm. I told them I would be happy to pay for the items if they sent me proof of what the items were and the charges. I gave them my PO box. Within a week they sent me the charges for two items plus a pile of interest charges and late fees. I called and told them I am glad to pay for the goods, but "no" on the other charges. I told them I had no notice previous to the robo calls. They said that I owed the money. I stated that I didn't.
Now three months later I keep getting the same bills less the items for which I sent the money to them. They finally sent the next bill less the charges for the items, but still want the rest. I said I wouldn't pay and have their legal dept. call me. So far no call, but I got another bill. Please note that every time I call I have to keep going through the same story and no matter how many people I'm transferred to I have to state the same story over and over. I would have given PayPal credit no stars, but that wasn't an option. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND PAYPAL CREDIT TO ANYONE.

I had always received correspondence via email and during the time that is in question, 2.5 months to be exact, I received 98 emails from PayPal.
I paid my account each month before the due date for my minimum payment but usually paid over the minimum requirement. In February 23, 2017 I paid my account in full. March 2nd 2017, I attempted to make an online purchase utilizing my PayPal credit line in which I was denied stating my account had been closed due to a returned account statement. Upon calling and speaking with customer care I was notified that they had been sending statements to my physical address because their computerized system had opted to change my automated billing statements to mailing statements because I had not opened their statements via email according to their computer records.
I asked the manager whom I asked to speak with if I'd ever missed a payment which he replied no. I asked him to clarify that he was telling me he was informing me that even though I was an active customer who had made timely payments, and paid my account in full, but because of not accessing a statement sent by a computerized system they had closed my account without notifying me. He responded this was accurate and there was nothing he could do. PayPal Credit is the worst credit line you can ever get mixed up with. Jan 2017, I make my payment as usual. Well as February approaches I realize I have enough money to go ahead and pay my PayPal bill 2 days early. So I go ahead and pay the $304 to get that bill out the way. So here we are in March. Bill is due I log in to see what the minimum payment is, it shows $608 is due. So I call to find out how this is because their website sucks. You can't get details. I'm told that they never got a payment in February. So wait... They really thought I wanted to just give them an extra $304 two days from when my bill is due.
The customer service rep tells me "since you paid before the interest cycle was up that money went to the principal." Nobody ever gave me an option of if I want this on the principal or to go towards my normal payment. So you mean to tell me I have to wait the entire interest cycle so PayPal Credit can rip me off charging 20% for 30 days. It's bad enough they already got me like that but to take the $304 I gave them two days earlier put it on the principal with no notification just confirmation that the bill was paid. Now March comes and you're telling me I didn't pay you in Feb so now I owe you $608... What the... How is this even allowed? The best part is the customer service rep tells me well "it's good you paid early cause it made your principal go down." I told her that only dropped my bill $3.

I have a PayPal credit account. It started when I got a 300.00 credit limit. It said you can purchase goods, services, or send money to family or friends. Please be aware the webpage setup is designed where one may easily lose double what they may use from the available credit. We know, as sellers they already have your bank info, and automatically, funds come from this when due. I wanted to send money to my family member and went to credit section and clicked for the transaction and it acknowledged the action. “This is the first red flag,” the section above credit is to use your bank account funds to process the same type transaction. If a person knows they do not have available funds in their bank why risk an overdraft? The site will automatically take you to a page to reconfirm your initial transaction but not acknowledge whether or not it was your first choice. If you were sure you said from credit it should process but the "final red flag."
Maybe it said you chose an irreversible transaction, which is withdrawn from your bank. The next day I saw PayPal took money from my checking account. I called bank and reported this was an error and bank stopped transaction. PayPal said, "Have person send you the money back," and I did and deposited it to my checking account as a result of the error and my bank refunded me overdraft fees. At this point the credit I had available has never been used and PayPal tells me, "You owe us the money for your checking account." They refuse to withdraw the amount.
I initially requested from the credit account, this I am told cannot be reversed. They are trying to get double when in reality I only got the initial amount $125.00 plus the fee and will have to go to small claims court on this one. I sent all documentation requested. Their webpages have problems too, seems preprogrammed and will fail to load sensitive information you need and send you back to login numerous times. Forget passcode to speak with specialist, you may be on phone over an hour or sent person to person with little headway. I was not behind in my monthly credit payments. Anyone out there have a similar problem?

Other than Paypal defaulting my preferred method of payment to 'PayPal Credit'––which ended up adding to my balance very quickly––without my knowledge––for awhile and I am in the midst of trying to fix that part of this horrid misadventure. But the issue this complaint is really about, is regarding a scam that hit my account early this fall. Ipage, a website hosting service, posted a fee of about $168 to my account. This fee was supposedly for 'the next year of service'. Which, I did not agree to.
The previous year, I had bought their services at bout $3/month so my brother and I could practice our jquery and Node.js scripting on hosted websites. Nowhere in the documentation did it say anything about an annual fee of $168. A year comes and goes, and this gets posted to my account. I email both ipage and Paypal about it. Ipage has yet to respond to me. Paypal responded by saying that it isn't their problem. It should be noted that it cleared to my bank account. I was part of the 'customer protection' that apparently is a lie––being that this predatory business, ipage, was allowed to get away with scamming my account.
I did not agree to the 'annual fee' at any time. Paypal said even though that I was being 'protected' it didn't matter. This was between myself and ipage. Ipage has not returned any of my emails. In the end, Paypal's 'customer protection' did not protect me and was completely compliant to a scam. I got a phone call from a collections agency saying I was delinquent. I found out it was PayPal Credit. I owed over $1154, of which over $154 was interest and penalty according to them. I did buy a product for $1000 back in March, more than 8 months ago but I did not know it was deferred for payment for 6 months. I thought it was paid immediately. I was tricked into PayPal Credit when I thought it was the regular PayPal. I paid the principal and appealed the interest charges to no avail. I was given a reduction of $25 for late fees, however, I'm still irked to owe anything for interest. My advice is to never use PayPal for anything ever. As per Mack of Homestead, FL, "If you use PayPal you are a fool. It is not convenient. You're better off just using your bank with a real merchant account."

I have had PayPal Credit for maybe four to six months, and other than a couple technical glitches, I've never had any issues. The customer service both times I've had to phone has been very polite and helpful. The interest rates are reasonable, and my starting limit was really generous. I mostly use it with eBay, but I've used it a few other places also. I like being able to set up recurring payments to route through credit, so I have those special protections! Overall I would recommend PayPal Credit to people, but I would say that it helps to be a good troubleshooter, because PayPal and PayPal Credit both seem to be a little better suited for people who are able to spot potential issues and head them off before they happen.

They began charging late fees the next month after deliberately sitting on my check payment and not processing IT...despite me paying 5x the minimum payment, 10 DAYS IN ADVANCE. The last rep said the computer system decides to approve or not approve each transaction. Each rep I talk to tells me something different but always comes back to the computer system is not allowing it and they cannot do anything about it.
Why am I unable to use my PayPal credit to pay for anything? Why did you issue me PayPal credit if I am unable to use it? When you ran my credit to check my credit worthiness it takes 2 points off my credit and then once approved my credit score drops a few more points. I am okay with that and know it will recover for the benefits of using the credit. There are no benefits to me for you bringing down my credit score and adding a credit account to my credit report if I am unable to use the credit.

I have never opened a PayPal Credit (Bill Me Later) account. I recently received a letter dated September 19 stating that I had not been charged interest on my account but would be in the future by Comenity Capital Bank. The letter was the means that I became aware that I had a credit account through PayPal that I had never opened. I called the phone number 866-528-3733 and was told I had in fact opened the account in 2014. The letter said I had opened it on March 5, 2013. They didn't even have a straight story about the date they claimed I opened the account. I asked for the account to be closed. I was told it is now closed, and I hope that is true.
We all know that Wells Fargo employees were opening new accounts without the knowledge of the account holders. Apparently PayPal has been doing the same thing. I assume that Comenity Capital Bank sent out the letters about the interest charge as a subtle way of letting PayPal account holders that they had a credit account that they were unaware of and might want to close. Such a move would have been triggered by the Wells Fargo scandal. Probably anyone with a PayPal account should check to see if they also have a PayPal Credit account that they have no knowledge of. If someone opened a sham account for me, many others are probably in the same boat.

I accessed their website and tried to open 'my account'. I was prompted for my email address. That failed. I was prompted for my phone number(s). That failed. I was also prompted to sign up for a PayPal account so I could report the problem. The email option also requires an account. Since I can't login to account I didn't open, I gave up. It was after hours. Called next day. Janeen answered. I explained the situation and it quick was apparent that she wasn't empowered to help me. I asked to talk to a supervisor.
Steve - manager came on the line. I repeated the problem and asked to have my name and address removed from the system. He asked me for my email address and phone number in order to validate my account. I told him my phone number, email address were not in their system and could not be linked an account with my name and address. He told me that company policy did not allow him to go further unless I gave him the information that I'd already proven did not work. He also could be fired if he attempted to access the account in my name if I didn't give him my email address and phone number.
Finally after talking in circles for 45 minutes, it was apparent that he was either unwilling or incapable of resolving the problem. As a closing suggestion he suggested that access the credit rating companies to see if there were any recent records referring to PayPal or PayPal credit. If there were then could open a fraud report. I did recommended research. No negative reports of any kind. Yet someone apparently with access to my information has apparently opened an account in my name and PayPal credit is unable or unwilling remove the bogus account.

I dropped my account today, BUT to make my point, I will never again do business with any vendor that uses PayPal Credit as an option. These folks are thieves.
After literally stealing $114.00 from me in fees ILLEGALLY (knowing that they are under the radar and for that amount I wouldn’t cause them grief)… I closed my account, and in the process of paying off charges that I just made THIS MONTH – that were not due yet, I was charged some account termination fee for another $35.00 (seems to be their magic number). In 2016, I was charged $2.16 in TOTAL interest – and $114.00 in FEES. Get that... $2.16 in TOTAL interest – and $114.00 in FEES - so far this year! PayPal Credit will see this message on every available rating site. Hint: In the future – don’t mess with someone that has nothing to lose. You can’t win!

Throughout the year I have told many family and friends about how happy I was with PayPal Credit and they have also open up accounts with you. I've made my payments on time, even paying two. I have spoken with several reps from their customer services due to never received a bill. I was told I had chosen to go paperless (NOT) when I opened my account therefore making my account late for $9.78. Was shocked due to my checking is set up for PayPal as well so why would I charge $9.78 and not pay it. Once I got that matter cleared I continued to make payment to pay this account off. My account show it due 15th of the month. Which I gotten burn before because I paid them in advance and still received a late fee due to no payment on the 15th.
So I said, "Ok I'll pay it on the 15th or 16th," due to billing cycle doesn't start over until the 18th. This company is unreal. I still received a $35.00 late fee. I spoke with the very unprofessional rep and her supervisor. They try to belittle you like this is the only credit card you have. Purchases are confused as PayPal debit card which is separate. It is auto filled from a bank account so balances are automatically paid and the debit card managed balance restored. PayPal Credit is a loan shark operation hiding behind PayPal debit card. If you make a purchase thinking it is being billed to the debit card and will be auto-paid on time, and it ends up as a "loan" on your PayPal Credit account, you never hear about until months later. Thinking the bill was paid on time, you dismiss it from your mind. Instead, PayPal Credit was laid a trap. You have a "loan" accumulating interest and default penalties of exorbitant amounts. Finally, they call or send a bill in the mail, but by then you will "owe" them huge fees. They know their business model is a scam.
After cancelling my account, they invited me to take a survey online. From the questions you could tell they were worried about consumer fraud. I'm wondering if there is a class action group being formed to file suit. Reporting them to the federal agency responsible for consumer credit cards will probably not work to put them out of business.

Too bad I can't rate PayPal Credit zero stars. It has been the most horrifying experience when it comes to making purchases online and dealing with their customer service, not once but 6 separate times. How can you extend $2200 of credit but allow 1 purchase of $47 and some change? For the last 2 days I have tried to purchase an XBOX One and a few games from Walmart.com. At checkout the PayPal page would load then give the option to use my PayPal balance, debit or PayPal Credit. Again... I have $2200 of extended credit. I chose PayPal credit and the payment is turned down. WTF? This happens twice, each time asking me to choose a different form of payment. I try again 4 hrs or so later and this time, it doesn't even give the option to choose credit, it wants me to use my debit card tied to my account.
I call PayPal, go through all the verification processes and troubleshoot the problem. I was told it was a security issue due to the large purchase amount. Ok fine, just verify that the account is mine and answer security questions that only I know right? Wrong! They tried to override the transaction to make the purchase go through... Still denied. They then connected me to the department that handles these issues. Problem fixed right? Wrong! This time they told me to try again after going through all the verification process. It denied the purchase yet again, only this time, locking me out of trying until 24 hrs or so. The PayPal agent that dealt with the situation said the account would reset the next day.
Fine. Day 2=total nightmare from Hell. Exact same thing no matter the merchant. Ended up calling PayPal and PayPal Credit. Both trying to fix the issue; each call reaching blood boiling points due to getting a different total half-cocked BS answer. They would either blame it on the merchant or my account settings along with it being a large amount of over $400. The $2200 available credit is a complete joke and feels like a scam of sorts. What good is giving a man/woman a credit line if you aren't going to allow you to use it? Out of all the credit resources that I've used throughout the years, I can confirm without a doubt, that PayPal and PayPal Credit are the worst service I've ever had the displeasure of using. Due to this fact, I will be paying off the account balance and closing this garbage of a service.

I signed up for PayPal sometime last year. I used it to pay for a couple of things here and there, and returned an item or two at one point. Suddenly when I am checking out I see "You have a $35 credit!" which I think, awesome! I didn't realize I had this but it must have been from my returned items. So I clicked to use the credit. Little did I know that this was signing me up for a CREDIT CARD aka PayPal Credit. I'm a pretty savvy consumer with a legal background, and I could not make heads or tails of it. I didn't know that I even had a line of credit until they sent me a late fee in February! I called, saying I had no idea what PayPal Credit was, I didn't want it, I didn't know I even had it. I was happy to pay the balance but I wanted the late fee waived and the account closed. The lady very nicely agreed to waive the fee, and I paid and I thought the matter was done. This was in February.
Little did I know they did NOT close my account. And when I made a purchase on eBay in July, even though I remember entering in my credit card info, the PayPal Credit account got "magically" selected. So last week I get another bill with another late fee. For an account I never signed up for and had asked to be closed and had not knowingly used. So I call, get the runaround. The lady says she can't waive the late fee because I already used my "one free late fee waiver" per year, which I didn't even know was a thing. I told her the account should have been closed in February. She said someone would have to go back and listen to the recorded call to confirm my story (because sure, I'd make that up) and would call in a couple of days. Of course, I never get a callback.
Fast forward to today, I call back again because now my balance from a $43 purchase in July is $70! All I want to do is pay the $43. But I want the additional $27 waived and my account closed. Account rep 1 - understands my story, admits that even she had been signed up for PayPal credit without her knowledge at one point (before she started working for PayPal, but still... wow.). She understands my story, confirms that my account was closed last week (hooray), but doesn't have the authority to waive the late fee so she escalates my call to a supervisor. This supervisor, Tia, wasn't having it. I explained and explained, she said that "she understood" but she had "made her decision and wouldn't go back on it." What??? She said I must have known what I was signing up for because how else would they have my purchase info? She even raised her voice and said "MA'AM I HAVE TOLD YOU MY DECISION."
So I asked to speak to HER supervisor and she smugly informed me that in order to do so I would have to write in. Wow. Really transparent and helpful, PayPal. So I said "Ok... I don't want to speak to anyone above you, I just want to speak to someone else." It worked! She transferred me to a guy named Matt. Matt (now I've been on the phone close to 45 minutes at this point) listened to my story and then asked "would you be able to pay the original balance today if we waived the late fee?" Um, yeah! He was very nice and walked me through the pay by check over the phone (why they don't let you pay with debit over the phone is beyond me). So finally after two phone calls totaling a little over an hour, I was able to pay the original balance off, and get my account closed. So... win for me?
They may have ended up doing the right thing... sort of... at the very end. But It is extremely deceptive to tell someone they have a "credit" when what you really mean is "line of credit". It's even worse to sign up that person for a line of credit without them realizing it. It's EVEN WORSE to have PayPal credit auto select and repopulate when you refresh a page even when you want to use your normal credit card. It's also terrible to not close a person's account when they ask for it to be closed. It's also terrible to throw the "terms and conditions" in someone's face when it's so clear that what happened was misleading, at best. It's not ok to charge late fees for a line of credit a person never asked for, never wanted, and never knew they signed up for. These are all deceptive business practices in my opinion and I am super leery of this company. Everyone beware!

If I could give PayPal credit zero stars that would be too much. I was online shopping for an elliptical machine. I saw one on Nordic Track website that I liked - I saw an offer to apply for PayPal credit, I was immediately approved for $1500 and purchased that equipment. A few hours later, I saw the SAME machine on another site for $800 so I canceled the initial purchase and attempted to purchase the other one for $800. PayPal wouldn't allow it. I called PayPal credit and they assured me I had $1500 available and there was no problem on their end and that I could purchase it. I tried 3 more times during that evening and each time it didn't go through. I called PayPal credit again and they told me it would work in 24 hours. I waited over 24 hours, tried to purchase and again it didn't go through.
I called PayPal credit again and they said it was because I had to create a PayPal account, which is separate from PayPal credit. OK. I did that. A PayPal representative told me I was good to go & my account would allow the charge. I tried again, and again and once again... still PayPal would not allow the charge. I called PayPal credit AGAIN. They told me the issue was that I needed to link a credit card, so I did that... still didn't allow the charge. I called PayPal AGAIN. They said while we were on the phone together, that I should try to make the charge again. I did, it didn't go through. I was put on hold then hung up on. I called PayPal credit again. I was told that because my PayPal wasn't at 100% that was why they were blocking the purchase. Ok, I asked "What did I need to do to make my profile 100% the rep?" said I needed to link my bank account. OK I did that. Still blocked the purchase.
I got very frustrated and let that day go. Tried again the next morning - still blocked from making a purchase. I called PayPal credit again. They told me that there was NO problem on their end. They put me on hold and told me they were going to try to override it to allow the purchase, but they couldn't do it either and they had no explanation for it. I waited several hours and tried again to make the purchase - still blocked. I called PayPal credit again and they said there was a security issue and put me on hold. The rep came back and said she thought there was a security issue but she was mistaken. She then said that the email addresses on the PayPal credit and PayPal accounts were different, so she straightened that out and assured me that I would now be able to make the purchase, no problem!
I tried again, still blocked. She told me to wait until the system reset itself overnight and try again in the morning, 7 AM their time, 10 AM my time. I waited until 11 AM my time and tried again, no... still blocked. I called PayPal credit AGAIN. I was told by this rep that I needed to try to purchase from another merchant and the problem was with that merchant. OK. I tried through a completely different store. NO, blocked again. I called PayPal credit AGAIN. This time they told me my account was blocked because there were too many attempts to make purchases ! NO kidding!!! They were the ones who kept telling me to try to make the purchase!!!
It's been several days, and the PayPal credit representatives are getting aggravated with my calls. I asked the simple question "if you extended me $1500 credit, they why am I not allowed to use it?" I get varied answers, such as the account is too new, too telling me that's too big of a charge ($800?) when I have a $1500 credit line?? They claim they can't do anything and really don't know the specific reason I am blocked. It's all speculation. I have credit cards available from other places.
Right now this is about principal not the actual item. How can a company ANY company extend credit to you, approve you, then keep blocking you for no real reason? I am not an online shopper, that's my wife's job. She has had a PayPal account for years, and anytime I want anything online (rare), we have used her account. I was the victim of identity theft - someone opened a PayPal Credit account without my knowledge or authorization. Obviously, the person used an e-mail account that does not belong to me, so whatever it was that he bought (assuming he even bought anything; for all I know it could have been a phony purchase made to a fake business that doesn't exist), I was not notified of it at all. However, the mailing address on the account does belong to me.
So what happens? Due to PayPal Credit's deferred payment plan, I was unaware of the whole thing until 6 months later, when I got a "Late Payment" notice from PayPal Credit in physical mail. I called them right away about this, expecting I would be able to sort it out easily - you know, like in the case of credit card frauds. If your credit card gets stolen or charged fraudulently, they immediately freeze your card and issue you a new one, and that is that. They don't make the customer do all the legwork or handle the legal mess.
Well NOT PayPal Credit. The first guy I spoke to on the phone was already very rude. He basically did not believe that those "purchases" were not made by me (made some comment about "Yeah I am just trying to make sense of this - why would you - I mean someone - buy this and then blablabla"). I told him once again that I have no idea what was purchased, and that I NEVER opened a PayPal Credit account (it's something that requires an approval process, like a credit card application - I would remember if something like that took place).
Somewhat begrudgingly the customer support guy agreed to send me an affidavit to sign. He also asked me if it would be okay for PayPal Credit to release the account information to the authorities for investigation, to which I said "Yes" (I was therefore under the impression that they would report this to the police or their own legal department or whatever - you know, the way normal banks/credit card companies do it). He also assured me on the phone that my PayPal Credit account would be closed and that any further attempt by anyone to create a PayPal Credit account in my name would cause me to be notified.
About a week later the affidavit arrived (basically just allows me to declare that those purchases were not made by me etc.). I signed and returned it, and didn't hear back from them for months (this all took place in February), so I figured everything was taken care of. Came late June, and I get ANOTHER late payment notice. No explanation or accompanying letter, nothing. Basically just "You still owe us money". I was like "What the hell?" So I called PayPal Credit again, and they told me it's the same bill as before, because "preliminary investigation" results showed that I am still responsible for the charge.
To make matters worse, they couldn't even tell me ANYTHING about the PayPal Credit account in question - for example what was purchased, and what e-mail address the person used to open the account. They actually made me fax a request for account info over - yes FAX, who the heck uses fax anymore? It's the ** 21st century - because what, there's apparently some sort of security info I can't give over the phone instead of fax to verify my identity?
That's not even the end of it. A few days later after I faxed my info over as instructed, I got a letter from PayPal Credit, saying that I need to send in ANOTHER copy of my request form - in MAIL - along with a copy of my government ID (it also said copy of the ID and the information request form delivered over fax is not acceptable). WELL WHY COULDN'T THEY TELL ME THAT IN THE FIRST PLACE, INSTEAD OF MAKING ME RUN AROUND IN CIRCLES??? So now I have to send them a physical mail, just to get some freaking basic info about the account (such as the purchases made and the e-mail address the account was made under), AND then I have to file my own police report before PayPal Credit would even take any further action to investigate this case.
The sheer stupidity and incompetence on display here is simply stunning. I have never felt so abused and dismissively treated by a business WHILE being a fraud victim. I've been a PayPal customer for OVER A DECADE and have a perfect track record on my account, always paid my purchases and bills immediately etc. - and PayPal Credit actually thinks I would risk all that to pull this little stunt? If it weren't for the fact that PayPal is now used by every single online shop, I would close my account in protest of the way I have been treated (I know PayPal Credit is technically a different branch from PayPal, but still, they are associated businesses). The notoriety surrounding PayPal Credit is TOTALLY true. Stay away from this horrible company/service.

I was told that the amount was above the balance that was being put on there and it was mine to spend and that the items I purchased would be added to the smart balance that was put on the PayPal credit card... Well not only was I told this once but three (3) different times I called wanting to make sure I fully understood! I am in a wheelchair and was so excited as I was needing to buy a new chair and purchase a machine for my legs and go back on Nutrisystem to finish losing weight to get rid of the type of diabetes I have.
Well I had already started finding out about the machine and wheelchair - so I called Nutrisystem and the man helping tried to put the card thru 2 times... so I called and was told that I only had .44 cents available and after numerous phone calls no one was willing to admit I had been lied to and I told them I wanted the typed phone calls and for them to listen to all three calls I made and what liars they make out of the people that work for them! I wasn't wanting to buy stupid stuff. I needed these items to help the quality of life and the stone cold person I was talking didn't care... What jerks. Ok so I was in between my pay period at work so needless to say I was broke until the following week. I was at work and starving so I decided to sign up for PayPal credit to order some food from GrubHub. The purchase was like $16 bucks or so. No biggie since I would pay off balance the following week. Anyway, I made the purchase and GrubHub gave me the option for Paypal and then I selected credit. After purchase I logged into Paypal to see the balance on the Paypal credit and sure enough the $16 was there Great! Well the following week I look at my bank account and I see that paypal was trying to take the $16 purchase from my bank (mind you I had only $1 in my account), which caused me to get an overdraft fee of $34.
I called Paypal and they gave me some excuse that merchants have a right to decline paypal credit. WTF... why would they do that if they had that option on their site. I asked if there was anyway in the future that I could do to prevent this from happening and basically I got no. So any purchases made would be a gamble if they accept paypal credit or not. I'm still not understanding why GrubHub would have that option if they don't accept paypal credit and just paypal by itself. That means my bank account is open for them to extract money from my personal account all willy nilly. (Why would I use paypal to extract funds from my personal account if I have a debit card).
Anyway the only thing they could offer me was a typed email to my bank stating to pls reverse the overdraft fee, which my bank didn't need to dispute the charge. Needless to say once paypal collects their $16 buck, I will be closing all accounts with paypal. I would rather get a real physical credit card for emergencies... at least I know it will go through. So a $16 purchase cost me $50 dollars.

I had a problem with my PayPal Credit account and knew that moneys that were supposed to show up as available credit as I kept paying off my promotions, was not showing up. When I spoke to the reps, several of them sometimes several times a day, they would often imply that their "computer system" could not be wrong. They also keep saying that the numbers balance out so it must be correct. I told them "you can have wrong numbers balancing out and that does not mean they are correct!" Many times the reps made me feel as though I was some idiot who did not understand. In one case I got into a heated argument with a "supervisor" who insisted my balance was a certain amount and it was not!
Finally after I stopped using my account, I spoke to a supervisor who said she would do the accounting and get back to me. She sent me an email and it was clear as day that there were mistakes. I pointed out the mistakes and now she has agreed to go through the issue again and send it to their back office for correction. Their head office is in MD. I live in MD and threatened to go to the office and complain if the situation was not addressed. My advice is never listen to the reps. They say they had a computer glitch in May and that could have caused the problems. Whatever it is, don't accept that the reps know what they are talking about.

I will spare you the minor details of my experience with checkout at QVC.com, except to say that it was fraudulent, and that Paypal Credit refuses to do anything about it. Using the Paypal Credit payment option, the QVC checkout process attempted to force me to create a new PPC account. I already have one in good standing – why would I need a second? So, I called QVC customer service, and informed them of the problem. "Morris" simply chattered the terms of the option in the same terms used on the website, and would not answer WHY I was required to create a new account, or answer my other questions. My next call was to PPC customer service, with the same complaint. Speaking to Jillian, there, I got the same response as from QVC, PLUS a new wrinkle – it's THEIR fault! That has a familiar ring, as when I created my PPC account, I could never complete a transaction.
After months of complaining to PPC CS, someone in Colorado FINALLY discovered a bug in their database about my account. My point here is that PPC WILL ALWAYS BLAME SOMEONE ELSE, AND THEY WILL NEVER LISTEN TO THE CUSTOMER. They will in fact, screw the customer over to correct their own mistakes! How do you deal with this??? The only way that works is to threaten lawsuit! Write a letter of complaint, stating that it is written on advice of your attorney, and send it registered mail return receipt.
The basic structure of the complaint should be 1) this is what you did wrong; 2) this is why it is wrong; and 3) this is what I am going to do if you don't fix this (sue you). It also helps to copy any controlling authority and elected officials you can find, and file a complaint there, as well. When you threaten to sue, PayPal will finally pull their collective head out of their collective butt, and deal with your complaint. Good luck, and keep complaining about PPC.

I never use my bank account to pay - always used PayPal credit but I added the account so that my account could be verified. Well yesterday I placed an order for 3 items on eBay, checked out all of them at one time and chose PayPal credit as payment option. For some reason one of the transactions did not go through the PayPal credit but went through my bank instead! I was not happy about this. Yes the money was available but I also have plenty of PayPal credit available too.
When I called to find out why my bank account was used instead I got an answer of "That happens from time to time." What? That's your answer? So basically there is no answer? If it doesn't pass then they use your normal payment option, i.e. Bank account. Who does this? You apply for credit and get approval, not every purchase. Not to mention how about a bit of notice, "oh by the way we're going to be deducting this amount instead of carrying it for you." Bottom line; avoid PayPal and especially PayPal credit.

I made the decision of using Paypal Credit to make a fairly large purchases in October 2015 - for an amount of $938.92. They had given me a promotion of no interest or payments for six months. I get my monthly statements online, as most people do. I never bother downloading the statements. Why would I need them on my computer? Every month the same sentence at the bottom of my online statement "No interest or payment due until April 23rd." Fine I thought. When April came around I made plans to pay off the balance in full and therefore avoid any interest. Since every time I log in online, it displayed that no payment is due so I thought as soon as the promotion ends the required payment of my balance would be displayed and I would pay it then.
The interest is only deferred and suddenly I was charged $99.17 deferred interest. That was very misleading. You can only find out about the deferred interest policy if you download your statement which most people don't do. The downloaded statement is in a different format with more information. Obviously the implication on my online statement is there would be no interest charged until April 23rd. But the reality was that I would be charged interest on the full balance for the six months I thought there was no interest for unless I paid the entire amount off before the due date (in my case April 23rd). This is completely misleading and simply unreasonable. They don't let you know what they plan to do before they do it and you have to really dig around to find out the interest is only deferred.
On my statement it says, "simply no interest or payment due until April 23rd." That is not ambiguous is it? If they'd said, "If you don't pay off your entire balance by April 23rd you will be charged interest from day one of your purchase.", I would have paid it off on time, but they don't let you know you have to do this!
I went ahead and paid my original balance of 938.92 on April 27th just four days later as soon as I found out that interest has occurred. I want to emphasize that I had no problem paying my full balance since day one but because every time I logged online it said no payment due now and at the bottom it says "No Payments Plus No Interest for 6 Months". I thought my balance would be due after the 6 months and I would pay it by then. I called customer service and they told me they can do nothing about. The supervisor however was very kind and helpful and told me I can try faxing or writing a mail to the billing dispute department and ask if they can waive the interest fees and charge a late fee instead. I just did that and waiting to hear back from them.

She even stated that yes I had available credit and that yes their records indicated that I had elected to pay via PAYPAL CREDIT but that somehow there was a glitch and they were not going to make it right. When I contacted PayPal about the promo, not once, but three times they stated that any additional payments would be added to the promotional balances to bring the balance down before the 6-month end term to avoid interest. On March 26th one of my promo was ending and the balance was 126.00, previously before then I had made my normal monthly payment of 25.00, plus an extra 75.00. I did this for 4 months in advance.
Now on March 30, I spoke to a very rude supervisor who tells me that none of the extra payments I made was going to the promo balance and they are charging me interest of 6 months for each promo. When they say they are giving you a promo of 6 months do not believe it. What they are doing is taking the payments and adding to the balance and come end of promo hitting you with 6 months of interest. Who in their rightful mind would sent an additional 3 payments each month knowing they have a promo that would accrue interest if not paid.
Now their excuse is that I had to call them each month to tell them where to put the balance. Not what was told to me at all! So in essence you have to babysit them, call them every month and watch your statements. They are a bunch of scammers and every time you speak to someone different they tell you a different story and OH not to mention that I ask to move the additional money sent every month to cover the promo and they said, "NO". First, PayPal opted most of its customers into PayPal Credit without their consent. Second, PayPal did not automatically default your account to receive all of the PayPal Credit related emails and notifications. Therefore, if you have a balance due, you're not guaranteed to even know that you have a balance due until you receive a late fee notification and interest fee. Third, PayPal Credit is not a REAL Credit Card company. They do not report to the Credit Bureau. If you're a responsible business person and pay off your credit card monthly, hoping to use the credit to increase your credit score, think again. PayPal Credit does not inform credit bureaus of your timely payments.
Then again, if you're bad at paying off your credit card, this could be a great thing. Hence, why PayPal Credit is a scam that preys on people who can't or don't pay off their credit in a timely fashion. Even the PayPal Customer service agent told me that most PayPal Credit users have a maxed out account and appreciate that it is not reported to the Credit Bureaus.
I'd also add that because PayPal is tied to Ebay, the complexity of managing both incoming and outgoing payments has just gotten more complicated with PayPal Credit. You may think that an incoming payment from an Ebay sale will cover your outgoing expenses, but it may not. For instance, if you make $25 dollars on a sale, and then transfer that $25 to your bank account, all of the sudden you might see a $2.99 fee from Ebay for selling that item appear in your PayPal account. If you're using PayPal Credit, and you don't remember to pay off that $2.99 fee, you're going to be charged a late fee by PayPal.

I have used Bill Me Later for years. It was easier to shop online with it. When it originally transferred to Paypal Credit I didn't notice any major change. When it sold to eBay, it became absolutely worthless. I went onto the site and tried to handle a transaction and followed the step by steps, until it told me to click a button that didn't exist. When I called customer service, I spoke to three people, who kept saying, "You mean it doesn't say...?" Finally got a person who said, "Oh! There are issues with the website, we'll fix them soon" WHICH, they did fix about 24 hours later. Went in today to try it again, and AGAIN it doesn't work. Noticed in an email from our reunion people, "We can't use credit cards to pay for the reunion, because PayPal doesn't work with credit cards anymore." Sad to see it go down the drain. It was perfect in the old days. There is no order number because the transaction never went through.

PayPal makes it incredibly easy to unintentionally open their ridiculous credit account, without knowing you have done so. I made a service purchase and thought I had paid by PayPal, as I had done often before. Somehow this $20 purchase was diverted to credit, which I absolutely did not want or know I had done. Having gotten used to many fraud attempt with regard to PayPal (request for update of bank information), I ignored the emails from PayPal Credit, particularly because my computer security labelled them as probable fraud. I thought I had certainly never opened a credit account there, having never entered into any agreement to do so.
Next came the barrage of phone calls, which I also assumed were fraud. So now I checked my PayPal account and it showed a balance of zero. I phoned the number and asked the rep if I had a credit account with PayPal, and was told I did not. Continuous barrage of calls from PayPal credit collections, so finally talked to an actual human being and found the transaction diverted to credit, several months ago. A $20 charge cost me in excess of $128 to pay off. Are they legal? I suppose they are. Are they ethical? NO!! Are they evil? YES. I would label them as being fraud-oriented. My words of wisdom? Avoid PayPal, so you will know everything that comes with their label is fraud.

I signed up PayPal Credit with 18 month no interest for my iPhone purchase. I set up auto payment and have always paid the required minimum payment on time. After 9 payments, the minimum payment suddenly changed to a much higher amount with no reason given. Since I didn't check the statement monthly, I was assess $35 late fee for 5 months. When I asked why the minimum payment was changed or why was the term changed, the rep cannot give an answer, and mentioned it's my responsibility to check my statement on a timely basis. I think a class action should be filed for this matter. The company failed to honor advertised promotions and abusively charged late fee.

I like many others have been using Paypal for a long time. I had opened a bill me later account in 2008 or 2009. I didn't even know I still had such an account. I bought a ticket for a concert for 26 in December. I thought it was taken out of my Paypal account. I just received a past due notice for 90. When I call, it was a purchase that I made but I still do not understand how it was charged to this credit card, here was the bill to begin with, and now it is past due. I feel like something fishy is going on here. I called and paid the original amount and they did waive the late fees that I didn't even know I had. And I asked that the account be closed so this can not happen again. I am really gun shy with Paypal since someone hacked into my Paypal account a few months back and used it for Ebay. That was fun! The person that I spoke with was very nice and patient but the process of how I was billed on a credit card was beyond me and somehow felt tricky.

Somehow charges were added to my PayPal credit. I hadn't used it in 2 years before this. PayPal credit showed up on my PayPal account one time then disappeared. Thought I was seeing things. But even when you search for PayPal credit or use a link in an email you are taken to your PayPal account page. In my case PayPal credit balance was not there, although email links kept sending me there. I finally got a late fee email and was told they would pursue further collections. I couldn't find them. I called PayPal who told me how to get in touch with them.
Apparently you are only allowed one account linked to your PayPal account. If you have SmartConnect linked to your account PayPal credit won't show up, but the links keep sending you there. I talked with the rep, told her the story, made a payment and asked if she would remove the late fee of $25. She did. Now 2 days later they added a $35 late fee. Stay away, this thing sets you up for failure. I will have to call again and tell the story to someone else. I have an 800 credit rating, so I don't ignore payments.

I thought I had one PayPal account which I have been making payments to. Now I have been turned over to a collection agency for charges I thought I had been paying all along. This is the first time I have ever been turned over to a collection agency. I am so mad. Apparently purchases I made via QVC last year went on a PayPal credit account instead of PayPal Smart Connect (I didn't even know they were two different things). I paid it today and have severed all PayPal accounts. I will NEVER use it again. Sooo mad.

Whenever I make a payment on my PayPal credit card balance it takes 4 to 7 days for it to be deducted from the balance. When I make a purchase it also takes 4 or more days to show in the balance. So everything is so delayed that I cannot tell if the numbers are accurate. Trying to do a personal audit is a nightmare. Why does it take so long to process these accounts?
