Don't believe all the negative reviews online. Merrick Bank was great to me. Their customer service is great and live agents can be reached 24/7 which is awesome unlike a lot of credit cards that aren't reachable 24/7. I never had any issues with my card being declined when I was traveling outside the country.

Poor customer service support. When called for resolve issues, you get transferred to different people. And get confirmation from staff and they don’t understand customer support in overseas staff. Very frustrating and difficult to communicate with them.

The absolute worst experience ever with a credit card company. I would turn my auto pay off because I was gonna pay with another account and they would still try to do an ACH Transfer which would result in a 40 dollar return check fee. If this had happened once I would have said... Ok well I must have forgot, but for this to have happened at least 6 times is when you ask yourself what's going on. The rates are horrible and the are using a return check fee to get more money off the top. I'll never be a part of their business EVER again!! Find another card!!

I never got the $200 back that I sent to them initially after closing the account. Assuming that it might come next cycle? Please send me the check as soon as possible. I will change this review once the check is cashed.

I called saying I hadn’t received my card In almost a month and I still haven’t gotten it and we’re going on 3 months… I didn’t think anything like this could happen… The customer service person wasn’t bad at least but just don’t think recommend after this…

I love my Merrick Bank card, haven't purchased anything with it, but I know when I do I will enjoy every minute of it because the card is personal to me. So I will use it wisely and I appreciate Merrick Bank giving me this opportunity.

I originally had a credit line of $5000 I made my first payment in a timely manner for the entire balance. I was notified the payment was returned, so I immediately called and found that a number was missing in my bank account information. I made the payment and corrected the issue with my routing number, however I was still charged a late fee and my credit limit was reduced to $3000. This was due to a typo error.

Excellent customer service. Helpful, efficient and courteous. I have been victim of scams and attention to this matter is greatly appreciated. Thank you for your service and reliability for your customers.

I applied for this card about 3 or 4 months ago. It's a great credit card and I always make my payments before the due date. It's one of the best cards I have had. Fair credit accepted to be approved for this card. I highly recommend this card!

A credit card company with a great all-around experience and good customer service and you get rewarded for paying on time. Would definitely recommend using this company.

I had an issue with a company charging me for a yearly membership that wasn't mine. I'm not even sure how they got my card number! I reported the issue and everything seemed to t be taken care of. The funds were replaced and all was good. A few weeks later the money was taken back out of the account and the fraud team said I was actually responsible for the funds they didn't see anything fraudulent. Well that is absolutely untrue. This was not even my account.

Great!! No complaints, since receiving this card have had no hiccups, haven’t had any issues. I would recommend this card to anyone looking for a card to help rebuild their credit, send me a link and I will post it, maybe the approval parameters would help, do you have an affiliate program.

I’ve had my card account for more than 2 years. I’ve never received a credit limit increase. I called to ask customer service and they were unable to give an adequate explanation. Two year of on time payments but somehow I still don’t meet the criteria for a CLI? Baloney! Subprime lender, which is widely known. But the key incentive for opening an account with Merrick is to increase your available credit, which in turn will help lower your utilization and improve your score. If your limit never increases it just becomes a burdensome card and you end up closing the account because there is no point in keeping it open.

Received a 1099C in the mail dated 11/2025. They say that I opened an account fron NxtBank in 2001..It was an online only bank, and I did not have a computer or internet..I have been sending letters and have not received any answers or an agreement because they tell me this is old. This happening to many people. Maybe we should start Class action suit now.

I was able to grow my credit and increase my balance over time, however the unexpected charges over 49+ that pop up out of nowhere are ridiculous. I'm keeping track of my payments and all of a sudden I owe an extra $65 just for using my card.

Rip off interest rates. The government needs to control the these out of control rates they charge. They should be ashamed of themselves.

Horrible experience and I don't recommend anyone do business with them. They ruined my credit, claiming I HAD missed 5 payments, and I have two accounts, which is completely false. I've not missed one payment, I even pay extra. I submitted proof from all 3 credit bureaus, and they still will not fix this. I've contacted a lawyer!!! I hate that I ever opened an account with them. You don't treat people like this.

Worse Company ever and very unethical, they sold my debt and kept reporting on it for years. Currently pursuing litigation.

Very pleasant customer service. They said if I made payments on time for 6 mos they would double my credit limit and they did...Immediately, and I feel like that creates a good trusting relationship.

I am very pleased with Merrick Bank. Keeps me informed on my information of payments and purchases. And sends me reminders before my payment is due so I am on time. I think Merrick Bank provides excellent service.

I like that I was given a credit increase very soon after opening my account. What I don't like is that there are frequent issues with logging in (connection times out), which typically last for several days. Not being able to log in for days at a time is very frustrating. I have been told by Merrick Bank customer service that the issue is with my internet service provider, but it takes two to tango. No one else, and I mean no one, not a single one of my other accounts, banks, online stores, credit card issuers, etc., has this issue with my internet service provider. So, there is definitely something about Merrick Bank's web code that is in conflict with my internet service provider. This makes the issue Merrick Bank's fault.

Very upset when I found out I was unable to request a credit increase when I called your customer service. When I originally opened this card it was my understanding that I was able to request an increase over time.

Easy payments. Helped improve my credit. And an increase of credit was surprisingly applied. Thank you Merrick for the opportunity to have a means to spend responsible and be accountable. I am now hoping to receive another increase So my credit score will be raised. The card is secure. I can easily see my transactions history. Email communications are great for the heads up when a monthly payment is due.

Agent attended me quick and resolve my issue in less than 2 minutes. At end I was very satisfied. I would recommend this card. I have no bad complaints since I received my card and have used it. Try it out. You will not regret it.

I am very happy with my Merrick Bank MasterCard. I was given a $1250 credit limit at the start and at six months with on time payments, my credit limit went to $2500 as promised. The app keeps me updated on my spending and I elected to receive texts when I exceed $100. I have not had to contact customer service as of yet.

This card is such a great benefit. When we have an emergency or unplanned bills, it is such a relief to know it's there. I used it for groceries the other day and will use it today to fill up my gas tank.

There is a delay to win this. Actually reports to the credit bureaus. I wish it reported within so many business days of a payment but I have made a payment and it's taken a couple of weeks to a month before it actually reported. Other than that I have no complaints. Great card. Easy to build your credit back up and super easy to use the app.

Merrick Bank has Excellent customer service service… I’ve called In and my call Immediately pickup and question was handled quickly. Also when making pymt it’s a step by step process that’s easy to follow. I also like that my statement Is easy to read..I’m glad I’m a customer.

Merrick is a credit card that keeps you informed and up to date with your account. Website is easy to navigate and statements are easy to read. Customer service is very helpful and knowledgeable. Never had any issues.

Horrific experience with them. I turned autopay off on my account and they repeatedly kept attempting to do an ACH transfer which is like writing a check. Since the money wasn't in the account to be paid then I was charged 49 dollars every time extra because of it. Then my account was closed out by them, and I paid 200 to get my account in good standing, they kept my 200 dollars. How can you have a prepaid credit card and owe them for the 200 that YOU put on the card. Merrick Bank card is the worst I have ever seen.

On 2 different occasions my payments to Merrick Bank have mysteriously disappeared in thin air. Very poor customer service on resolving the issue. Closed my account and will never return to merrick bank again.

I just received a 1099C cancellation of debt in the mail. I had to call the number on the form to find out what it was about because I don't have this credit card anymore. I was told I had this card back in 2004. It's been 12 years and I am now just getting this 1099C. Around that time I know I went through bankruptcy and the credit card was probably put in it. I do not ever remember getting a notice that I couldn't put it in the bankruptcy and to continue my payments.

Credit karma recommended Merrick Bank to build my credit so I got the credit card and two months my credit went down 100 points because of this card. They have outrageous interest fees and they charge you for using their card on shopping fees and then of your day late they charge you $29. In December I paid $85. I made three payments just to be in the negative of -14 because I was caught up and now I'm negative $14. I went down again and my credit I've already gone down 100 points in 2 months with this card. They have outrageous interest and fees. They have fees for everything. They make up fees for everything. They frustrated me. I'm no longer using this card. I'm cutting it up. This Bank Merrick Bank do not get it. Do not get it. If you're trying to build your credit trust me do not get it.

I'm very pleased with my card and customer service. After a year of having this card my credit limit has increased as advertised, payments are easily made through the app, and my credit score has risen over 50 points after a year of on time payments.

I have a language barrier. I haven't received my credit card. I contacted the bank, but there was no translator available. I speak Mandarin. Ineffective customer service. I tried contacting customer service, but there was no one available to help me get a replacement card. I don't think your service is suitable for me.

I was lied to, was told one thing and then was told then was told that was false and will never happen. I’m about to cancel my card. I wanted my secured card to become unsecured and was told that after having it for a year with on time payments. Which they were. Don’t appreciate being lied to and I’m very dissatisfied.

This company is such a fraud and scam. It should not take over 30 days to get my $500 back! Corporate hides corporate hides. They don't they don't want to talk to the little people so I will let them talk to my attorney! It should not ever take 30 days to get my money back after repeated phone calls.

I got approved, don't use it though. Everyone gets approved would be an understatement. I had a hard time applying. But the qr code made it easy. I got approved ASAP. I liked it. Tell a friend. I will. But I don't wanna share info to other people about me or extra money eye places like yours.

I would definitely recommend you to others. Definitely helped with my credit score. Pay on time and get a credit increase in 6 months just like they said they would. Key to building your credit is you have to pay it on time but best to pay off before next due date and you will see your credit score jump.

Other than interest rate being high due to my credit score, Merrick Bank card services have been great. After 6 months of on time payments my $600 limit was automatically increased to $1200. Very lucrative cash advances and great overall card service. Would highly recommend to a friend with marginal credit score.

I want the great part is I have not had a problem with them at all. I pay on time. I paid before my time and I was surprised here recently. I checked and I had an increase on my amount that I can spend which was a very happy surprise during this time of the year during Christmas so I greatly appreciate the bank and appreciate all their assistance.

I have a few credit cards and I find the Merrick Bank mobile app is the best of the many Credit Card apps I have. It’s easy to use and it’s streamlined functionality make it better than the others. I don’t get annoyed using it and I can find what I’m looking for, no problem.

Hi. I find the payment system to be a wee bit odd and complicated. If I want to make an extra payment I have to change all the previously selected payment choices. It would be much easier if there was a way to make an extra payment without having to change my preferences.

You need people who can speak good English so we can understand what they're saying. I was told they will get back with me so far they haven't got back with me at all and supposed to send me a email. You really need to get people who can speak English good. It's been 5 days now.

Never have any issues w receiving my statements or my payments. They answer all questions and are always kind. I called about a charge I seen and didn't remember doing it, I even got a little frustrated trying to explain myself and the lady on the line never once talked down or had an attitude with me.

Good customer service, quick to get back with you regarding any questions or concerns about your account. Fair credit policy. This credit card was suggested to me by a friend. After researching my options I applied and heard back with their decision to give me a credit card within 24 hours. I’m very happy with my account at Merrick Bank and have also referred it to my friends.

The online platform should handle all requests and requirements. I shouldn’t have to send a letter to dispute a transaction. I canceled my order due to the website I ordered from being a scam site with counterfeit clothing. In order for me to file a dispute, I have to file it by mail. I shouldn’t have to do that. I should have an option to file my dispute and attach all of the corresponding documents online. I’ve already submitted a payment towards an order that I canceled. I’m not happy with this. I should be able to contact customer service and get the support I request.

I have always had great service and no problems with this card, easy to use, easy to make payments. I would recommend it to anyone. Is accepted everywhere. Using the card has been easy, just like with most cards. Getting customer service is not easy. You autobot and canned responses don't work well. I think you have been threatening to cancel my card if I don't use it more. Is that an empty threat or do you actually do that? I don't like it.

I have had no issues using my Merrick bank card. It has been a good experience all around. I used my card for one of our big early Christmas present so that it will be available on Christmas morning and I will be able to pay for it over time without any extra hassle.

I have had a great experience thus far with Merrick. The website and App platforms are user friendly. They are both easy to navigate for payments, statements and review of your account standings. Easy to update profile settings and review information on file. I have not needed to contact customer service, so I cannot review at this moment.

Merrick Bank has been Awesome thus far. They Keep their word. They are Very transparent. I respect them extending credit to me And increasing my limit when they said they would. I'd Love if they increased limit every 6 months... That would help my credit score tremendously. I would definitely recommend this card to others if given the opportunity.

Everything from the application to the daily maintenance of my account has been convenient and never been confusing. I'm a Luddite, so that's saying a whole lot! Something you may find interesting; I posted a review of the app through Google. It was less than sterling. To my surprise and appreciation, a representative reached out to me almost immediately. They were pleasant to converse with and listened to my input carefully and with respect. Afterwards, I had to update my review to give much credit when it was due. I have not received anything except an invitation in my email to give my review.

I've tried numerous times, both online and in person to charge something and it get denied every time. Not once (after 6 tries) have I been able to charge anything. I tried paying my car registration - denied. I tried paying my internet - denied. I tried buying gas - denied. I tried buying groceries - denied.

Simple to get and easy to use. No problems so far and like that they send you statement other than like most email you it or don't even send you anything. Would tell anyone that is interested in getting a card to apply and will probably be approved for one.

I am very pleased with this card. My limit was raised without me even having to ask. I would assume because I make my payments on time. It’s a great card. I would recommend it. I think it is a great option for people trying to rebuild their credit and it has definitely helped with mine. I am very happy with everything about the card.

The service was good until you guys closed my account. I had switched my bank account information and I thought that they were taking the payments from my account, but however, they kept join from my old account and my account was closed due to missed payments. I would love to stay with Merrick Bank.

I have already told several people about this card including various co workers and friends that they have to acquire this card. The services and benefits that come with it are first rate.

I am very pleased to a Merrick Card holder. I have never had any trouble using my card and they even raised my limit within the first six months of paying on time, without me even asking them to. I have a couple of other credit cards and have paid my payment on time with them and they have not raised my limit.

I'm very happy with Merrick Bank and will refer friends to this financial institution. Wish that I hard heard of them sooner and I'm very satisfied with having an account with them. The billing cycle is fair and I like the fact that they give you a reminder a week or so in advance. This helps me out with keeping track of my bill payments.

I don't like annual fees & frankly since I have paid an account off with your bank a few years ago. I most like won't use this card much if at all for that one reason. I am using this account & have paid more than required because the fees are always in the back of my mind. I'd like to know when the fees stop being used against you? Do the fees ever stop or do I have to pay it off & close the account to do better?

So far I've had no problems whatsoever. It was easy to get my card set up and usable. No problems using it in person or online. I get the alerts I've asked for in a very timely manner. So far no regrets with this company. My card is holding up good. No problems using it so I'm very pleased.

I have been very pleased with my Merrick credit card, I will be recommending Merrick bank to all my friends and relatives. The enrollment process was very streamlined and easy to complete and process and acceptance was a very quick response. The card arrived quickly and as promised, I will always continue to use Merrick bank for all my financial services.

I received a message stating someone was trying to use my card at 4 am one day. I informed them that it was not me. I appreciate the security. I spoke with people on the phone & they stated everything was OK. About a week later I tried to use the card & it was locked down, I called, they said it wasn't. Funny? I can't use it. I probably will never use it again, I can't rely on it or trust it.

Merrick Bank has been a great back up for someone who is retired and occasional runs a little close to edge. I can still afford the monthly payment and if there is something I really need, Merrick is there to help me thru the rough times and I am certainly most appreciative that they gave me an account.

I’ve tried paying with my checking account, but you guys come back and say that it’s attached to a fraud account which it is not so then I have to use a debit card and you charge me a fee for that so for those reasons, I will pay the card off and close it.

Terrible service. Can't use debit cards to pay off balance. It takes way too long for your credit to show up. You can pay off a balance and yup guess what? Can't use the card for three days. Needs too much Improvement to be able to satisfy a consumer who uses their card daily.

1st person I spoke with said there would be no charge. Person who took out not info said there was a charge of $4.99 which I paid so the Payment wouldn't be late! I didn't want to get a late charge on top of all else. Please make your guidelines more consistent.

I have been waiting for a refund from a secured credit card I put $200 on and have not received MY OWN MONEY back from them after 4 months now. I've been given the runaround time and time again when calling them with no luck getting my money back.

I am trying to cancel my card, I was told it was done but still is active. No one is helpful and was also hung up on. Highly disappointed in the customer service or lack there pumps. This card was not what I expected and I needed to cancel it and still cannot be helped. Can someone please reach out to me.

I am overall pleased with my experience with Merrick Bank. My credit was doubled after paying off my balance. It is accepted everywhere I shop. The app is very user friendly. The only issue I've had is when trying to use it to purchase an item online, it wasn't processed. I'm not sure why. I haven't tried it again since but if I have trouble again I'll reach out.

Everything is as it should be with zero problems. Some other CC I have had trouble logging in. The Menu is straight forward and makes using the CC simple. In 2025 not everything is as it seems. I have had no stress when I am logged in and changing or checking my account.

So I’ve been late with my payment because someone inadvertently got in my bank account. I had to shut down my Visa both my debit card checking accounts and was not able to make a payment due to not be able to get any money out of the bank. I asked for my fee’s back and no one seems to want to help me, but that’s OK. When I pay this credit card off I will not bank with y’all.

You have no security on my account. You will discuss my financial affairs with anyone! The person who called had no problem telling my account details. They were talking to the wrong person. Then I had to wait on the phone nearly 20 minutes to speak to a supervisor. You charge enough interest, you should have better trained employees. I had already submitted a future payment online but still got called!

I received approval quickly and received my card in less than a week. Love that they remind me when my bill is coming. So far there have been no issues to report. I also like that if payments are on time they will increase limit! I’m so glad they sent me this opportunity.

Very satisfied with my credit card. It's been a great tool to get back on track. The promotion of increasing my credit line after a certain time was the deal closer for me. This is the only product have with the bank and the app is simple enough to navigate.

I am not good with technology. Knowing that the app was available to save me time and stress, I have tried to join the technology crowd. Of course, as an old dog trying to learn new tricks I ended up having questions even though computer access to my account is really quite easy.. However, I ended up having questions that were probably entry-level stupid to most people. The help section staff did not treat me as if I was a stupid old dog learning new tricks. Everyone I have dealt with online at Merrick has been extremely patient, courteous, and respectful whenever I needed help.

What I like about Merrick is that you gave me the opportunity to increase my balance with no strings attached. Pay your bills on time for the next 6 months and you'll receive an increase. They have been there for me when I needed my card in emergencies. For those that complain about the interest rate, use it only when you have to. I knew I wasn't getting prime interest. Be responsible and use it only when you need it and you won't be surprised about the monthly payment or the balance because both can get away with you.

Merrick bank was there for me during hard times when every other institution would not extend credit to me. The interest rate is relatively low in comparison to other companies. I would definitely recommend Merrick Bank as a back up credit card when needed. As an incentive for on time payments, your credit amount increases.

I had a Merrick secured card after my bankruptcy a few years ago and I used it to build my credit so I could get regular credit cards. I recently sold my house and live in an apartment. I was being denied credit cards because I have low income that I supplement with the interest from the cd I have from my house sale. Merrick accepted my application again. I have some cards from before but the merrick is my "Just in case" card.

I have never received my credit card.. I sent email, asking why the credit card was never received.. I have received no answer at all. Very bad service. No confidence at all... Please stop sending me messages, I will block 🚫 this email.. Sick of tired of it. I wonder why I still received this email from Merrick Bank.. It's very suspicious.

They don't bother me with unsolicited phone calls which has always been a pet peeve of mine. Interest is a little high but it is not enough for me to cancel my account with them. While I liked the initial idea of doubling my credit the APR is way to high and the limit is way too low. I should not be paying that high of interest on a new card. It's predatory. Lower my interest rate and lower the annual fee by 2/3rds!

The payment service is horrible!!! I would make my payment on a Friday at 7 am and the funds were not taken from my bank until Monday and they would mark my account late. When I paid my card off I noticed my available credit did not go back, I called and was informed my account was closed due to excessive return payments and late payments. I never received any communication to the fact and was told that was all that could be done. Worse experience I ever had with a credit card company.

My credit limit was increased without my request or consent. While I’ve always made payments on time, it’s important to be cautious. If you ever miss just one payment or your balance slightly exceeds the limit, they report it immediately to the credit bureau. There is no leniency or consideration for loyal customers. I’m looking forward to paying off the balance and closing this account.

I find the online app easy to use and see my payments posted quickly. He only thing missing is a rewards program. I also appreciated the increase in available credit. I know it was part of the online offer, but it was nice to see it happen without my having to request it.

I never asked for this card. Spoke with fraud department and it was not successful. I only have a balance for annual fee and will soon go to collections. I will definitely get an attorney for this! I will never tell anyone about this service. I'm wasting so much time when I didn't even for this credit card.

As a surprise, a friend of mine made a gift deposit and Merrick took it as a scammer & boom.. account closed. If they were that concerned, other measures could’ve been taken. My payments were never late and I was a good customer. I thought that financial institutions wanted to keep customers and not treat them like I was treated. I would love to have the account open again but I will not pay any late fees as I don’t believe they were my fault.

I am very pleased with Merrick Bank Credit Card. It's easy to make payments and I have online access anytime I need to check balance and etc. I highly recommend this card. I got card for emergencies with no intention of using everyday, however I like it and I use it as my primary card and I am happy with the payment options at the end of the billing cycle.

You gave no notice of canceled card whatsoever and then it was canceled without even a late payment and yet it still shows active when I login and there is no customer service number to reach. It would have been helpful to have a number to call or a message in my message center stating what happened and why.
