I had a scammer call saying they were Chase Fraud Dept. Got me for transactions done on both my checking account and my credit card account and even got both my cards, they ended up taking money from the ATM since they had my cards and I was made to pay for that! Chase reimbursed all the other transactions that were done but said I authorized the ATM transaction!! Why the heck would I authorize for someone to steal my money!!! It's just ridiculous, and they say it's because it was done close to my location, but they were informed that the cards were picked up by someone whom I was told was Chase fraud dept. from my location, I believed it because I have been hacked 5 times in 1 year and really thought they were trying to help me! Goes to show Chase has NO COMMON SENSE!! I have been with this bank for over 10 years and expected more from them. Might be looking for a new bank!

Updated on 01/12/2024: I am currently working with the White House to address the fraudulent activity with my Chase Bank Credit Card. I no longer bank with Chase Bank and I have closed all of my accounts with Chase Bank. Chase Bank customer service is the worst and I am not surprised Chase is losing customers with its online banking.
Original Review: I closed all of my accounts with Chase Bank including my credit card due to fraudulent activity as an online customer in 2023. Based on my experience with Chase Bank I am currently banking with a Credit Union who treats me like a valued customer. Beware of Chase Bank as a customer. Note: you are just a number and a way for the bank to use your hard earned money to make a profit.

The Chase Bank branch in San Diego, California, specifically the Hillcrest branch at the corner of Fifth Avenue and Robinson, has the worst branch manager in banking. I've been banking with this particular branch for over six years, and issues with cashing checks at the counter arose only after a new branch manager took over.
I presented a $10,000 check issued by the city of San Diego, drawn from a Chase Bank account. Despite doing business and using my personal name as my DBA, the check was made out to my business name. The teller initially said it could not be cashed. However, upon consulting the new branch manager, who I've never seen before, he adamantly refused, lecturing me on opening a bank account with a fictitious name statement. I clarified that I am the owner of the account, but he still denied the request. In a frustrating attempt to resolve the issue, I even returned to my office to get the required fictitious statements to open a new account. However, the branch manager claimed there was no one available to open the account, adding to my frustration. This manager needs to be fired immediately.
I have closed all my accounts with Chase, withdrew my money, and shut down my credit cards. Chase is the worst bank ever. I suggest avoiding large banks like Chase and opting for a credit union instead. My experience with a credit union has been excellent, with great interest rates and never being denied a loan, unlike Chase, which reduced my credit card limit based on some questionable AI algorithm. Stay away from Chase; there are much better options available, you'll eventually regret choosing them, particularly if you develop relationships with management or staff, which will eventually be rolled out of that bank. I will give them a -5 if I could.

I sadly got scammed out of $500 in June 2023. No one could help me, not surprisingly. Chase closed my account due to fraud but accepted a deposit into a closed account (which is something that shouldn't happen). Chase called me and told me that they could lower the balance due to the inconvenience and experience. But in reality used my deposit as a credit to my account. Didn't say anything about it. Skip to 7 months later I am still wondering what happened to my deposit because the money was just missing. Just found out 7 months later that they lied to me and used it towards my balance and didn't say anything. I hate this bank and I will never open another account with them. They rob and steal from you without telling you anything, the staff will also treat you like garbage if you are a victim to scam.

Don't bother to check your credit score with the app. It doesn't give any score. It is a backdoor method to advertise and con you about insurance. This kind of behavior is common for Chase. Since chase incidents of not giving people their money by freezing and cancelling accounts are accelerating by the day. No one is safe except the wealthy. They target average Americans.

Chase is a mess. The largest bank in the US with $3.8T in assets is unable to process payments this holiday weekend. Deposited a check on 12/21, due to its size, over $5500 or something, was told it would have a 7 day hold. Whatever. It is actually from a company I am an owner of, so I know the money was removed from the check's account before Christmas.
Check on Friday, 12/28, and still not in. Call the check hold dept in wherever, told it's suspicious, have to go through all this nonsense, call my partners at 8PM, etc. Finally told it's approved, Itg will be available by 8AM EST Sat. Saturday by noon, still pending, call back, told they legally have 7 business days, a lie, then that sorry, they had no one to work this weekend, that it would be processed Tue Jan. 3, 2024. Utterly ridiculous, obviously a symptom of a much bigger problem. Payments are likely suffering the same issue. FYI, this check was under 20K, don't want you to think it was some crazy money.

Now I'm sitting home with no money, phones off and New year's is tomorrow.. I called them and they said the Bank for the check didn't verify. I called the bank and they said Chase has already received the money.. Little does chase know.. my mother wrote me that check from our trust account to fix the roof.. so when the money leaves then I get a notification. I'm disappointed in Chase Bank. I deposited the check last Monday and tomorrow is another Monday And I have to wait till Friday again.

My wife, a Chase customer of many years, passed away on the 12th of December. I went to the branch where she kept accounts (Sierra Vista, AZ.) in order to inquire about a Social Security deposit that we were expecting. Branch manager Belem ** confronted me by saying she already had a customer and inferred she was doing me a favor by waiting on me. I asked her for a private office to discuss my deceased wife's account. She declined. I was forced to discuss with her my wife's confidential business in front of a large and curious lobby of customers. As a manager who sets the example for her staff and company, I find a total lack of professionalism. In light of my wife's recent passing, this was just one more inexcusable issue to deal with.

For over 20 years I was satisfied with the service I received from Chase Bank. I had a business account with a credit line, a personal checking and savings, and my kids all had their own accounts from high school through college and beyond. Then a few years ago they unilaterally decided to start penalizing people if they didn't have several thousand dollars in their account; this coincided with difficult times for my family and I. So for several years I was penalized $25 per month for my balance. They call it a service fee... but it's really a penalty that kicks people when they are down. I finally tired of the $300 per year for nothing and moved most of our money to a credit union where they treated us much better.
Because my kids still had accounts at Chase, I needed time to figure out what to do. I ended up asking Chase what would happen to my kids' accounts if I closed my account. They said their accounts would be automatically switched to a different account type, and that account type does not charge the monthly penalty/fee since they had direct deposits. Well, I have direct deposits, too. They could have switched me to one of those... but they were happy to not tell me about it and continue to take hundreds dollars from me. When I understood this, I moved all of my money out of Chase and into the credit union.
I mistakenly thought that would, in effect, close my Chase account. It did not. They charged me another $25, sending my current balance to -$25. I reached out and said that I'm done with their bank, that I won't pay $25 for nothing, and to please just close my account and leave me alone. They wouldn't. They are using the excuse that I had already one monthly fee waived when I complained a few months back, and that they "cannot" close my account until I pay them $25. To me, this is just extortion, plain and simple. I asked them to take it to their superiors because I'm not paying this fee. I am waiting to hear back from them, but I am not optimistic.

In my experience this is not one of the best banks. My husband is an electrician. He has his projects, he deposited a check for 23 thousand dollars. My husband has been a customer for about 4 to 5 years with them. Just because he deposited a check of that amount They told him that he had to wait 10 days for the other bank to release the check and once the bank released the check they restricted his account and in the calls they began to treat him as a suspect. Suspicious of what? If the person who paid him for his work was in contact with the other bank and if necessary with them... they kept him like this for 3 days after 10 and then they closed his account without telling him anything. It's incredible that a common person can't deposit a check of that amount? I think it is not even that high compared to others... so my advice is to investigate that there are better banks where they will not discriminate or treat you like criminals for a high check.

I am so extremely upset that after 15 yrs banking with Chase I feel my money is not safe in their hands. Two fraudulent transactions of $800 each processed by a company by the name of Bill Matrix in South Carolina that I do not do business either nor I know who they are charged my acct twice. One in September while I’m purchasing a home in Deltona Florida and one in December 1. I received on December 1 my $1600 after contacting fraud department. Then on December 12, $800 reverted and charged my acct $800.
After calling Chase fraud department I was informed that my atm card was charged at 4:58 am on December 1 using my pin. This is why it was denied. I had to wait on December 1st for a new atm card, call Visa who informed me it is Chase denial not Visa, called Bill Matrix that can’t tell me who and for what the charge was for since transaction numbers do not mean a thing to them. I called my local police to do a report on this as well.
I called Chase today again to be advised that they can’t do a thing for me. Due to over 60 days of transaction that visa policies will not allow. Mind you, Visa said it is Chase not wanting to approve the claim not Visa. First, my money is in their hands, the security of my acct is in their hands, as a customer banking with Chase, I shouldn’t have to jump over hoops to protect my funds, I am feeling let down by bank of 15 yrs loyalty to them, A slap on my face, and around holidays. Meanwhile, I’m getting overdraft charges due to the fraudulent department incompetence.
I never thought after so many years with Chase, this is how they take care of a loyal customer. I feel a huge disregard and disrespect by Chase fraud department. I will continue to inform people of this. I work very hard for my money and to know they allow this fraudulent approval go through is beyond me. Chase authorized the charges, not me. Incredible. As I said I will continue to let other people know that Chase does not protect your money. Get out of banking with them.

I decided to open a business account at Chase Bank because I assumed (incorrectly) that their customer service would be better than my local credit union. It took 1.5 hours to set up my Business Account but only because the guy helping me was a talker and could not focus on what he was doing. After that, I had to go in a second time because he did a number of things incorrectly. That was another 1.5 hours.
After that, I decided I would like to link a personal account to my business account. I was told by customer service to go into a branch. I took an hour of my day to go into a branch only to be told to set it up online. I came home to set it up online and the website said to go into a branch. So that was two hours wasted. If you call the (clearly off-shore) customer service department, they tell you to go into a branch. So now I have to set another appointment and take another hour of my day to have a personal checking account set up. In a world where you can do virtually everything online, why is a bank (one of the wealthiest institutions in the world) asking me to come do it manually?

I've banked with Chase before years ago in California and since moving out of State I decided to bank with them once more since they have branches all over. Worst mistake I ever made. I will be closing my account and banking with someone else. I've made 2 check deposits since opening the new checking account. First check deposit was held for over 2 weeks and restricted the account. It was a California state check but I was told since it was my first deposit there would be a hold and there shouldn't be any more holds over 7 days. Second deposit was from a settlement check. Again hold placed and after speaking to a customer representative I was told by multiple reps that I could go in and pull cash from my account but the in the amount of the check that is being held but after visiting a branch I was told it was incorrect. Again being told by multiple reps the restriction would be lifted once the hold on the check was removed.
I received an email stating the hold was removed and funds are available. Nope lies again. Call back spoke with a rep was told no it was not removed yet and was asked the same questions again to which I answered and explained again. Then told it may be removed after 24 hours since they still need to verify the check. Again was asked by a rep for a number so again I replied the only number would be the one on the check as it is a settlement check and the only paperwork I received with the check was a W2 to file taxes since taxes were taken from it. More back and forth asking for numbers for the plaintiff that filed the lawsuit. Again I explained it is a settlement for all employees I do not know the plaintiff. So yes I will be closing this account and going with another bank that actually knows what they're doing.

I purchased an item from the Facebook marketplace using Venmo and I never received the item. Whether I used a credit card or debit card, this is stolen money and therefore fraud. It shouldn't make a difference if the purchase was thru a credit or debit card. I have text msg and documents to prove I purchased this item and it was never received. I have 2 banks for my business. A small one that is very careful about names, amounts and all the details, then there's the too, big bank that doesn't attend to the details. Since their Credit card securtiy is the best, I expected their wire service to be as well. My little bank is careful that wires are checked, the routing number, the account number and the account name. I guess I was wrong. Guess I'll need to move to a smaller bank that attends to the details.

Chase Bank new attitude toward customer who didn’t keep lump sum over 100,000.00 in the bank for long enough. I deposited bank check, not personal check for the sum of over 100,000, and before I deposited I asked the teller; How long it will take to have the money available in the account. Her answer was, "One or two days, and you can see online." That was on the 13th of the month.
On the 14th of the month, I checked my account and I found the found available, I made online transfer to my account in different bank that I have account with and have better interest rate on saving or CD. The transaction was done and indicate in one or two business day. All is good so far. Few hours later I get phone call from Chase after verifying my identity and the transaction that took place, asked me why I transferred the money, I was open and told him the bank give better interest rate. He told me the transfer is cancel, the fund is not available to be transferred. "You get to wait till the 23rd of the month then you can make the transfer again."
I have argument with this man, because I was told it will take one or two days before I deposited. Then I found online the money available, I did the transfer online, and it was successful. Now the ask personnel question why I am transfer my own money, and because he didn’t like my answer, the bank will my money for 10 days, and can’t do nothing about it but I can write about it in Google review.

I've had Chase for years, even worked for them at one point. Over the years their business tactics have been questionable at best. They were sued for excessively charging OD fees at one point but I managed to avoid any major issues with them until recently. I have autopay with Verizon set up. There's been 3 times where Verizon failed to process my payment on a different date I'd select if I wasn't able to pay on the due date. The first 2 times this happened I had nothing pending in my account so I wasn't too concerned paying one OD fee however Chase returned the payment.
This happened the third time the other day. I had 5 small transactions still pending from 2 days prior and figured they'd be paid first and Verizon returned again however Chase paid Verizon immediately and left everything else still pending telling me OD fees would hit at end of business day without a deposit. They OD my account over $400. I called asking why they would clear a huge transactions from the night before while leaving transactions pending from now 3 days prior. They tried saying because Verizon was autopay but had no explanation when reminded of them returning Verizon twice prior when I had nothing else pending.
This was obviously a calculated scam to get $200 in OD fees out of me. Luckily I was able to borrow money to avoid this however many people wouldn't be so fortunate in today's struggling economy. Despite being sued Chase is yet again preying on their struggling customers to line their pockets so after a decade I'm closing my account and reporting my experience everywhere I can think of hopefully to help others avoid this dishonest bank. There's too many other options to allow this type of behavior out of a place you're trusting with your hard-earned money. I'm sure another lawsuit will be coming soon if this has become another widespread issue with them.

After 5 months, multiple phone calls, and a litany of reasons and excuses the dispute team (including customer service escalation) failed to provide a valid statement, letter or email to justify their decision to dismiss my factual evidence and deny my claim. Instead, the rebuttal/response from the merchant was deemed to be true although no evidence was provided to back up these merchant statements. Further, Chase refused to accept voicemails, photos, phone records, and GPS tracking app data that clearly support the facts I reported.
Chase said they could not accept these items because uploaded documents are the only evidence they would accept. The end result is that I was denied a refund for an interrupted vacation - I was unable to stay for nine days of an of an original 13-day stay. Chase used this to support their decision against me, stating well the merchant is being represented by their dispute team. This statement was made on what will be my last phone call to Chase regarding this issue. This call has led to the conclusion that the only remedy for this situation is to seek legal action.

Opened a Chase account. Set up direct deposit. My job deposited a dollar in the account to confirm it was good. 24 hours ago I received a “welcome to your chase account” and confirmation that my account was opened - I have a deposit to hit tonight; so I went to log into my account and it said “your account has been blocked for suspicious activity please call.” So I call and they are absolutely not helpful. The lady told me I have to go into a branch and create a brand new account and that they closed this one. No explanation; just that this is their process. I asked what about my deposit that is set to hit and was told…well; we can reopen this account but it will take 24 hours before you can access it again.
2) Again; what's going to happen to my deposit?
They didn’t call or email me about closing my account - they just did it and without notification or an explanation- just kept telling me “I'm sorry about our process.” What process? Lol. I had an account open for a whole week and then you close it without notice or explanation on the day a deposit is supposed to be put in. They weren’t even able to tell me what’s going to happen when my deposit tries to go in tonight - nor did they show concern. I asked to escalate to a supervisor and the employee debated with me for another whole minute trying to convince me not to talk to the supervisor. All the supervisor did was file a complaint and apologize for their process which im still lost on what part of the process this is. I have things to do early tomorrow - and now my entire paycheck is in limbo with nobody knowing when or if it’s going to be in my account and accessible. My first ever experience with chase bank - absolutely terrible.

I explained to the branch rep that I've been waiting for a card for over two weeks and that I would hate to leave Chase due to such an inconvenience. The branch rep proceeded to tell me and I quote "We cannot force you stay with Chase, but I understand if you decided to go elsewhere". I wasn't aware that Chase customer service reps were trained to be so unprofessionally insensitive. When I first opened the account, I could understand putting a hold up to 1 week. But funds were frozen for 2 1/2 weeks. 2nd month, 10 days. 3rd month 7 days. 4 - 10 about 2 days. Now we're back to freezing funds with no real clear explanation. Reasons range from I'm showing unusual deposit activities to potential fraud. I even deposited cash ($700), which again, prompted a temporary hold on funds for 12 hours.
They will not reimburse bounced check fees, resulting in $120 I shelled out last month. Reasoning, I've made a habit of it, despite it clearly showing funds are being held by the bank! I just wanted to make a quick note that Chase Bank was the easiest company with which to deal after losing my brother in an apartment fire. They responded quickly telling me what documents they needed and were quick to send checks for me to deposit into his estate. One thing that was especially kind, is they are the only company that returned to me his death certificate and my letter of Administration. These documents cost money to obtain, and the Letter of Administration was obtained through my attorney, which also costs money every time I need more. I really appreciate that they take the time to return these documents.

You HAVE to "agree" or you cannot access your account online. There was no warning. I mean, even Comcast, a renowned bad actor, gives customers notice of their price increases - which occur 4x year it seems. And they give a summary of the "highlights". Yes, it is also a bunch of baloney, but Chase is so arrogant they don't even try to appear like they give a crap. And who is going to slog through 125 pages of this particularly rancid baloney? I've read a couple of these, not just Chases', basically they say they can do whatever they want, whenever they want, and don't give a rat's ** about privacy. SURPRISE!

I had to fight argue with Chase Bank for 30 days to prove that I was the original customer that own these accounts and the funds were mine. After the issue was resolved Chase Bank made a decision that we should go our separate ways so I made a decision it was best. I did a review with Trustpilot. Chase Bank had trust pilot to suspend my account because they didn't want no one to know what the employee had done.
How do you do a background check on an employee and they open up accounts in our name using our identity and then lock us out of our accounts and take our money away from us and then Chase banks sides with the employee and then make a decision that is best that we go our separate ways. Recently I closed all my bank accounts with jpmChase bank and I withdrew all the money the same day. It was not very easy, jpm Chase made a few major mistakes with me as a customer and as a person by talking down on me, trying to intimidate me, and by making me feel insulted:
1. The clerk told me that the amount of money I withdrew was very big, therefore I have to tell them what job I have in order for them to give me the money. I have to mention that they already asked me to sign the withdrawal receipt beforehand. These altogether was a major mistake to condition and intimidate me on accounts closing and money withdrawal.
2. Second, I consider the amount of money I withdrew from them at account closing was very small.
3. If they had the slightest suspicion on the money provenance, they should have rejected the money at deposit time and not use the money for years!
Hypocrites!!!

I had very bad experiences with Chase Bank. I wrote a check to my other bank for a CD deposit. The check amount was deducted from my Chase Bank account right next day, and I checked on my other bank that I deposited the check to had the money in it already. So I thought everything was ok. However, 5 days later I got a phone call from the bank that I put the money in saying that I got a return check that I wrote from my Chase bank account. I was so shocked, how could that have happened? I have more than enough money in the account to cover the check amount and the check was cleared the next day.
I called Chase Bank right after my other bank told me that. The Chase Bank representative that I talked to says that it was because they were being careful that it was a fraudulent check. However, no one called, texted, or emailed me before they took the money back from my other bank. My other bank charged me $10 for the return check fee. Today I called Chase Bank again and told them all my unhappiness and told them it's not my fault and they don't even know why it happened themselves! So I said they should pay that $10 fee. They keep apologizing but wouldn't pay that $10 fee for me. I just can't believe such a large bank would do things like that, so disappointed!!

I was unaware of the Jan. 01, 2023 charge. I was billed in Feb. & Mar. for $ 8.61. In April the bill had grown to $8.84 so Chase sent me a letter dated April 18, 2023 advising that they closed my account. I discovered this letter upon my return to the USA on June 25, 2023. Since I had been a cardholder since 2006, never missed a payment and had a credit score of 848, I called and explained the situation to a company rep. who advised he could not reinstate my card or restore my 8,984 points.
I needed to reapply for a card and start over. I sent a letter to Chase on July 01, 2023 requesting reinstatement and repeating the detail as to why the $8.61 had not been paid. I offered to pay any late fees in exchange for reinstatement of the card and points. I received an unsigned letter dated July 17, 2023 advising that the account could not be reinstated since over 60 days had elapsed since the closure. They advised I could apply for a new card. I guess Chase has no loyalty to their customers since they will cancel and terminate the relationship for $8.61. I Guess the 8,984 points made it worth the cancellation and termination of a good customer.

A Beacon of Hope in My Financial Ordeal with Chase Bank. Navigating the intricate channels of financial transactions, especially with substantial sums, can often be a daunting experience. An ordeal of mine with Chase Bank serves as a testament to this sentiment. I recently found myself ensnared in an unnerving situation, having initiated a transfer of a considerable $74,350 to a company from whom I had made a purchase. Much to my dismay and bewilderment, Chase Bank seized this transfer, leaving me in a state of heightened anxiety and confusion.
In times of such distress, one seeks an anchor, a reliable entity that can steer the ship through the turbulent waters. For me, that anchor materialized in the form of RageRapid.io. From the outset, RageRapid displayed a level of professionalism and commitment that I found profoundly reassuring. Their team was meticulous, ensuring they had a deep understanding of the intricate details of my case, treating it not just as another transaction, but as a genuine plea for assistance.
The communication was transparent and regular, a facet I highly appreciated, given the significant amount in limbo. There was never a moment where I felt left in the dark or that my concerns were trivialized. RageRapid’s expertise shone through in how they navigated the complexities of the recovery process. Their vast knowledge, combined with a strategic approach, was instrumental in unraveling the complications surrounding the seized transfer.
It is with immense gratitude and relief that I share that RageRapid.io successfully secured the recovery of my entire $74,350. In an era where transactions and recoveries can often be depersonalized and bureaucratic, RageRapid’s personal touch, their tenacity, and their unwavering dedication to my cause was nothing short of commendable.
In conclusion, my experience with RageRapid.io was exemplary. In a world full of uncertainties, especially in the financial domain, it’s comforting to know that entities like RageRapid exist – working tirelessly to champion the cause of their clients. I extend my heartfelt thanks to the entire team at RageRapid, not just for the recovery of my funds, but for the peace of mind they provided during a highly stressful period. Their service goes beyond transactional recovery; they restore faith and trust in the system.

Initiated an ACH payment to an employee for $42,100 on August 13 to take place on August 14. His account is also with Chase. It didn’t go through, so I went to the Chase branch. After answering several questions to Gavin I was told the transaction was “verified and approved. The funds were released, and the transaction would take place within Monday night and Tuesday morning”. Those funds were destined to pay this employee’s tuition, which was due on August 15. The transfer didn’t take place on Tuesday. I couldn’t leave work, so I started my endless phone adventure. I talked to Mark, who again, after asking me all the verification questions, told me the transaction was verified and approved and the funds were being released that same day.
On Wednesday, again from my office because I couldn’t leave work, called Chase because the funds had not been transferred. Talked to Logan. Again, went through the verification and approval process and was promised my money was being transferred. No last name or phone number to call them back because they are not authorized to do that. I asked to talk to a supervisor. Not easy to accomplish. Eventually talked to Clifford. He said my money was on its way. He agreed he would call me at the end of business hours to confirm the transfer went through. I had explained to each of these people, from my first visit to the branch, the urgency to transfer that money to the point that if there were any problems with my business account I would, as a last resort, send the money from my personal account and then deal with the tax issues that would arise. Was told it wasn’t necessary.
By the end of ET business hours, the website showed “processing”, so I called again. Talked to Wanda. She said everything was alright and the money was being transferred. Explained to me that the end of banking business hours is 11 PM, ET, so the money would be transferred by then. After 11 PM, ET, my account showed the transfer had been canceled due to insufficient funding. That account had had over $50,000 for the last two weeks, so I didn’t understand why it couldn’t transfer $42,100. I decided then to try a different way to transfer the money. I sent a wire from that same account.
On Thursday morning, my account showed “being processed”. I didn’t believe it, so I took time off from work to go again to the branch. The manager was absent, so I talked to a banker. After reviewing her computer for a while, could not explain what happened and told me to go because it looked like the wire was going through. I told her that wasn’t enough. I needed to know why I have no way to trust MY money was going to where I was sending it in a timely manner. I explained that although I was being very courteous, I was extremely upset and demanded a response. By now, my payment was overdue. I had told my employee and, he told his school “The money is being transferred as we speak” Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday. Who would believe we were being truthful when you are talking about a domestic transfer between two accounts of the same bank?
I am a foreign-born American citizen, with a strong accent. Was all that unsuccessful “verification” and disregard for my sense of urgency due to my accent? What do you think the people hearing me say “the money is on its way” thought? I was directed to a different employee. She talked to several people. Eventually, she said “the wire went through. We have no explanation to what happened”. Basically “your money was transferred (three days later through MY changing strategies, not theirs), get over it.” I read several complaints against Chase in the BBB page. Chase’s response is something like “we have already responded to the customer in letter on such date”. I can tell you right now: Today I received an email from Chase saying the wire went through. Far from relieving the pain they caused.

This is my response to your response of holding my funds and having the right to do so "per the agreement we have with each other". That agreement does not state you can hold my valid funds for 76 days for no reason, discriminate against me, and conduct deceptive practices. Just to remind you your representatives advised me that the check I deposited was “under investigation” because it had two names on it although they said it cleared. Fact: The two names on the check were the conservator (an attorney) that handles my mother’s finances and my name. Fact: I contacted the bank the check was from they advised me the check cleared with no issues months ago at his point. Fact: The previous correspondence you sent only stated my account was closed and the balance was applied to the account.
I know there are legal time frames in which money, that does not belong to chase should be returned to the customer. There are also time frames in which you must respond to stay in compliance with complaints from CFPB and discrimination claims. In addition, I see you declined my compensation offer which I anticipated, based on the treatment I have already received. If I hadn’t contacted the CFPB who knows when I would have received a response or my money! This experience I have gone through with you all made the personal events in my life even harder to manage. This response you all sent to me simply means I should move forward with possible legal action and alert the media about this matter.
Therefore, any attorney fees that may transpire from this matter you will be responsible for. Chase bank seems to think they can treat African Americans like this in 2023 and simply sweep this under the rug no sir! If necessary, the details of this matter will be made public because I don’t want honest people like me going through this DISCRIMINATION! “Thanks for admitting you fell short this time” in your letter. I can agree with that way short! I guess I should be grateful for getting my $500 back. Well thank you for returning my money! However, that will not resolve this matter at this point. If necessary, I will exercise my freedom of speech and tell everyone I can about the treatment I received simply by trying to open a checking account with your bank. Especially, my ** friends and family I know as well.
Therefore, I’m demanding you compensate me for the pain, discrimination, frustration and having no reason for doing this to me. I know the process it takes for a bank to receive notice if a check is returned 21 days at most, not 76 days. The way your agents treated me on the phone, you can keep your condolences. I want $ 5000 dollars sent to me in the form of a cashier’s check by July 15th, 2023. Just like you sent my money back to me via UPS. Or I will take the necessary steps against your bank for this crime you committed against me.

My wife and I have been going through this confusion for almost 3 weeks. There was a fraudulent person who got access to her acct. Chase was notified the same day it happened. They drag their proverbial feet every step of the way. They are complacent with the fraudster. They would not allow my wife to change her bank account number. AS my bank did when I had trouble (Credit Union). They just keep sending snail mails with veiled threats and never have offered an explanation nor a solution. Which makes me think they are in on the fraud systematically within the organization. Because if they kept allowing this monster to make claims and reverse charges for bills already paid, and Chase allowed it to stay open for this purpose, then they are in on it and don't profit depending on how much the criminal gets from the reversals.
The mail on this is absurd. Since May 30th, 2023, there have been "reversals" back to January. Needless to say the Chase "Service" people were helpless, hopeless, and uneducated. Filed police report. May have to get a lawyer. I think this is fascist/Jeffrey Dahmer treatment. A bit scary and infuriating at the same time. No satisfaction. My employer's HR guy got a hold of Enterprise Bank. They said adamantly that there is no issue to release my funds. Chase is a selfish greedy financial institution. My daughter's birthday is ruined because they are holding my paycheck hostage; I now owe late fees to several services. I spoke today with Chase rep Michael who told me "We cannot request anything with Enterprise Bank, because they won't communicate since we(chase) are not their customer." So I repeated what I had been told by a lady rep the day prior - June 9th(Fri) - "If your funds are not available by 3pm today(fri) then they should be tomorrow morning(today/Sat)".
That was after a 15-20min hold for the lady rep to contact Enterprise Bank. Michael called me a liar by saying "she never said that; that is not accurate. Check the recording I said. Plus I responded to the lady rep with "I have never heard of a bank depositing funds on a weekend" but was reassured by her. What a dirty way to conduct business. In an era of unprecedented technology, Chase Bank has managed to elevate customer frustration to an art form, casting themselves as a tragically incompetent antihero in the arena of personal banking. My experience with them has been so utterly abysmal that it's evolved beyond disappointment and ventured into the realm of the downright absurd.
Like a Greek tragedy, our story starts with a seemingly innocuous incident. During a business trip overseas, I found myself unexpectedly locked out of my Chase Bank accounts. An inconvenience, yes, but surely a minor speed bump in the grand scheme of things. After all, we live in an age where connectivity is ubiquitous and international travel is an everyday event for millions.
Imagine my shock, then, when my initial call to customer service resulted in the mind-boggling advice that I needed to physically visit a branch to resolve the issue. No, you didn't read that wrong: an international customer, halfway across the world, was told they needed to drop everything and travel back to the United States to visit a brick-and-mortar branch. I couldn't help but wonder if I'd slipped into a time warp and emerged in the pre-digital age.
Saddled with an impossible task, I instead chose to embark on a 24-hour odyssey through the labyrinth of Chase Bank's customer service – a team seemingly trained in the art of deflection and the chorus of "the system is responsible". At every turn, my pleas were met with robotic recitations of policy and procedure, void of empathy, understanding or an ounce of human ingenuity. It is 2023, yet Chase Bank seems to operate on the assumption that we still live in an era where horse-drawn carriages are the norm and telegrams are cutting-edge technology. The cavalier disregard for the convenience, peace of mind, and downright sanity of their customers is truly a spectacle to behold.
Chase Bank's laissez-faire approach to customer care is matched only by their startling incapacity for pragmatic problem-solving. I'm left to ponder the irony of an institution that deals in billions of dollars yet fails to invest in efficient, customer-centric solutions. At best, it's a demonstration of profound negligence, and at worst, it's a slap in the face to customers who've entrusted their hard-earned money to their stewardship.
After this harrowing ordeal, it is painfully clear to me that Chase Bank is woefully ill-equipped to serve those who travel or conduct international business. Their archaic systems and unfathomable policies form an albatross around the neck of anyone seeking efficient, flexible banking solutions. No amount of corporate spin can cover up the fact that, when it comes to global business or personal banking, Chase is clearly not up to the task.
If you value your time, your money, and your sanity, I urge you to think twice before entrusting your financial wellbeing to Chase Bank. With countless alternatives offering robust, modern solutions to personal banking, there's simply no reason to endure the Kafkaesque nightmare that is banking with Chase. Rating: One star (Only because zero isn't an option).

Chase does not honor their written policies on overdraft and will discriminate people who have to use overdraft often and refuse to honor their written limits on the service. I am on SSI and I activated overdraft for those times at the mid to end of the month when I am out of things like food and need a little extra. I stay within their limits and keep my total under 50 bucks over. Because of that they never make any money from my overdraft and feel they have the right to dictate and control my overdraft spending. If I was spending over and getting charged a fee they wouldn't even bother to decline... This has been going on for several months. Reading some of the reviews here I now know I'm not alone and I wasn't mistreated because of a discriminatory reason. I can say "I'm happy to know," or "feel better" but those are not the correct intro because no matter how you see it, it's messed up. Who's to blame? Who should be held accountable? What does it take to make things better? Amending EFAA Reg.CC to allow customers to sue in a real court for breach of contract, or for a penalty for the harm? I don't know when was the last time it was amended but it should be based on the advancement in technology compared to when the Act itself was made into law. Availability time frames should be updated.
This outdated Reg.CC has enabled Chase to become an ADDICT to prolonging the clearing of checks at the cost of customers who are in dire need for that Check to clear as soon as possible so they can move along with enjoying their pursuit of happiness. Instead, Chase uses these laws to control people's money and deprive people of property without due process. They're like drug dealers and they lure you into handing your money over to them and once they have it you are at the mercy of whatever policy they want to make up or excuse as to why you cannot touch your money.
I recently opened an account and deposited a check into chase. at deposit teller was ask for half in cash and the other for deposit. ignoring my request chase tell just deposits the entire check and explains the receipt as available in two days and for me come back to withdrawl it. They refused and wanted to place a hold on the majority of it until the following week. She canceled that transaction and I called my other bank to increase my ATM withdrawal limit which was approved. Went to a Chase branch with ATM in the lobby that dispenses up to $3,000. I needed less. My transaction was declined for various amounts and I called my bank to check that the limit was correct. They said yes and that there were no declined ATM transactions on my account. So, I go back in and withdrawal $500. It worked so I tried for another $500 and it was declined for exceeding my limit. Called my bank again and they said I was not maxed out and there were no other declined transactions. This is clearly Chase causing the problem.
Now, I Zelle $1K to my Chase account. Then the Chase ATM flagged and declined me for fraud when using my Chase ATM card to withdrawal the available balance. Then I had to go to the teller who made me go through a process to get a code to withdrawal my money after scanning my ID several times. Finally got my $1K. Still short, I walk across to Wells Fargo where the ATM gave me $1K from my non-Chase bank with no problems. Two months ago I got a Chase credit card to use the promotion for no interest for 15 months to buy a refrigerator. I opened the account online, everything went fine, until 3 days later when I was not able to log in to neither the business checking account nor the credit card (personal) accounts. They were all locked due to "suspicious activity". I called the 800 number to get it resolved. Customer service worked on it for close to 30 mins but they were not able to resolve it. They told me the only way to fix it is by going to the branch. So I went to a Chase branch and after wasting another 30 minutes there I was informed that the business checking account was already closed and in order to unlock my personal accounts I have to submit a utility bill that shows my address. This has been a very disappointing experience for me. But I moved on.
Fast forward 8 months and I opened a PERSONAL checking account on Chase website. It worked fine. Account got opened. 3 days later I got locked out of ALL my Chase accounts again! I called the 800 number and once again I was told I have to go to the branch and provide them two forms of ID. I went to the branch, showed them my ID and asked why my accounts are locked again. They talked to the back office and informed me that there is still a problem from the July business account that was closed by them and I still need to verify that I own a business! So the account they themselves closed back in July was still haunting me!
Anyway I provided them my tax forms as requested (had to make a subsequent trip for this). One week later, and despite escalating this directly to the executive team from the CEO's office, my accounts are still locked. I call the branch and they don't answer. Chase is very incompetent. Today is the day I sent out 4 letters to IRS and chase. Makes no damn sense! The paperwork that is suppose to be filled out can only be done by chase and it’s fill in the blank. Customer service people suck. They do not listen or try to listen. They do know how to transfer a call. That's about it!!!! Never have and never will bank with them!! Account-**. Has my $1400.

Worst customer service ever. All they do transfer because apparently any department handles the request. I’m asking a form from the bank of my auto loan to submit an application for a veteran's benefits and no one's no nothing. No department knows nothing. Worst customer service ever.

I previously had an account with Washington Mutual that transitioned into Chase years back. I've always kept a substantial balance within our account which had benefits of free wire transfers and cahiers checks. When the transition occurred Chase told me that there would be similar services. When I've finally needed help with a simple wire transfer after them having over tens of thousands of dollars vested in my account for years they are not able to help me with a service that was always complimentary. Very sad, and will transferring my funds to a credit union that actually cares about keeping its customers. Unfortunately, I guess there is no benefits to loyalty these days.

Chase Bank hires young inexperienced staff in their risk department, with computer generated transactions to flag - in other words for no reason a transaction can arbitrarily be pulled, then rejected by a kid who has no knowledge of business, no firm protocol or criteria to follow, and can easily do great damage to your company. I had a $1800 transaction on 2/17/23 which was flagged; they asked for copy of invoice, I sent it; they rejected the transaction. Later a supervisor read the 'Specialist''s notes, which said he didn't like the 'Format of my Invoice.' Meanwhile the new customer moved on to a new company. Chase singlehandedly can destroy your business!!!!
Another transaction of $845 on 2/17/23 was also rejected same way; except this was an existing customer, a transaction that I do every single month! So even an understanding, patient customer - who by the way I had already delivered the product to - now has the relationship strained, and more of their time and energy eaten up, by Chase Bank!!! In one day they can literally burn your company and leave it smoking for days!!! Why????

If negative stars were an option that’s exactly what I would have selected. They denied a dispute of an obviously fraudulent wire charge (it was sandwiched between 4 other fraud charges and I have never sent a wire transfer in my life). Nothing was done the first two times I called them. It took a third hour+ long phone call to get anything done about any of the charges. I haven’t had a debit card in over a week and half. I have filed a police report regarding the fraud and Chase now has complaints with the BBB, CFPB, OCC, and my state attorney general. I will be getting a lawyer if this isn’t resolved. Moving my money out Chase AS SOON AS possible. This company, their tactics, and their customer service is an absolute joke.

If I could give a minus star rating I would. Very unprofessional, hold monies for no just cause causing your account to go into overdraft, charging ridiculous fees...I am very disappointed and downright pissed at Chase Bank. I deposited a $4k check via teller into my account. This check was from home insurance company for property damage I sustained 2 months ago to my home. The teller did not tell me that they would hold the check.
I call today and the check is being held until 02/23 which is one week away which is going to mess up my direct deposit from employer because my employment check will go to what is overdrawn in my account and I will have no money for over a week, not for gas or food or any essentials because of them holding a business check, not a personal check. I have contractors repairing and depositing checks immediately this week and my account shows now a negative balance of over $1k. If I would of known I would of deposited this check into my credit union account and they don't hold checks from businesses, especially insurance checks, and credit unions are usually more secure and stringent than banks.
Chase has no right to hold this type of check. They have literal control over my finances for the next week and will not release the funds any sooner. I even spoke to a supervisor and he said he can't do anything about the hold...**...he is a supervisor. All I got was I get it...No You Don't get it...it is not your money and home that was damaged and currently in process of repair with flooding...VERY POOR PRACTICES CHASE BANK!!! ALSO...they need to educate their tellers to inform their customers that the check will be held for one week or so, so they can go elsewhere to get their money in a timely manner!!

Decided to try a new bank and I wanted to try Chase after all the good reviews I saw about them. I can tell you right now this has been the WORST experience being a new customer. My Employer gave me a check to deposit. After Chase already put their stamp on the back of it the teller told me it would take 10 days to release it. I explained this is for my rent so I don't get evicted. They gave the check back to me and placed another stamp on it that says did not deposit. So according to them it's still good and was informed I could go anywhere else to cash it. That was wrong, no one else, not even the issuing bank would touch it. So I called Chase back and was informed to deposit it and the funds would be available in 3 hours.
Well 19 hours later I checked my account and now the check has a hold on it. Now I am being told that the check will need to wait till the 25th to be paid out because the computer system decided to please a hard hold on it. Well, thanks to Chase I am now being evicted with no place to go. Also just to explain everything I did not have a job and that why I was late on my rent and my current company wanted to help me out. So DONT bank with CHASE, it's a GIANT pain in the BUTT.

They would need to close the account and open a new one. I proceeded to comply with what the caller told me to do to open a new account. They initiated a wire transfer to a new account with my name and as soon as the money went into the new account, the wire details actually went to a Wells Fargo account! During a visit to 6240 South Central Ave in Phoenix, I was disturbed by the scrutiny and body language directed towards me by the allegedly sub-contracted security guard. I had been hassled by this same security guard at a Circle K, months prior. On February 6, 2023, I returned and addressed my concern with the branch manager. I closed my Chase account for $112,660.18. I showed the branch manager two other accounts at other banks that were close to the $250,000.00 Federal Insurance limit. I showed the branch manager $85,000.00 in gold bullion that I intended to sell to a friend. I was planning to deposit those funds in Chase, but I felt unsafe due to my evaluation of their hired security.
I was given the run around getting a Cashier’s Check to close my account. First, he wanted to see my identification. Then he asked for a second ID. I showed him my birth certificate, but he said that they only used that for Juveniles. Then I started laying out my Discover Card, CCW License, Cigna health insurance card, Sam’s Club member card, library card, and then other highly personal identifications. I finally found a Chase credit card. He left his office with my cards, and then came back and said “They” needed more identification and were going to send me a text code to my telephone. I received the text and read it to him.
He told me that they didn’t know the security guard’s name, but knew her as a “nickname” (So they have a security guard operating at the bank using an Alias?) He refused to disclose the nickname. He said he would refer my concerns to the escalation department. On February 8th at 8:11 A.M. I was left a garbled voicemail identifying themselves as perhaps Evon in the escalation department. I was given a phone number of (855)437-9530 and an incomprehensible extension number that my phone voice to text displayed as 1050040013 and a garbled incident number that was interpreted by my phone as ECW3020608238.
I tried to call that number and extension and the voicemail recording stated that they were closed and to call back during normal business hours. The voicemail stated that her normal business hours were 10:00 A.M. to 6:30 P.M. This is in my view, and the view of Counsel, is a classic runaround, using complex numbers and inabilities to evade the issue.

As a single mom, going through a divorce, I had been using Walmart's Green Dot Bank for the past 10 years. Now that I have built up credit for myself and things are going well for me I decided it was time to get a real bank account. I saw an ad about Chase offering $225 to new customers. So I opened an account online. I changed all of my AUTO PAY bills to the new account and changed my direct deposit to start next week. I then went on the Walmart MoneyCard website and transferred the majority of my balance to the new account. I also started a fraud investigation on my Walmart account for a few fraudulent charges that had shown up on that account.
In order to do this Walmart had to cancel my debit card and have a new one re-issued to me. I wasn't worried about it because I had the new account at Chase and my money had been transferred. Yesterday I tried to log in to my Chase online account and it said that my account was restricted and that I needed to call them. So I called them and got a very rude "script reader" that proceeded to tell me that Chase decided to end their relationship with me. No reason was given! So, my money WAS sitting in that account, but not reflected in the AVAILABLE funds.
I checked my Walmart account and discovered that Chase DENIED my transfer. So my money is back (PENDING) in my Walmart account for which I do not have a debit card for. My new card will not arrive until the 9th! So I have money but can't use it! So after working so hard paying down my credit cards after Christmas, I now have to charge more on them just to get food for my son and gas in my car to get to work! This is the WORST experience I have ever had with a bank! Do not use Chase! YOU WILL REGRET IT like me and all of the people who have left reviews here too!

Chase did call and apologize and said the information the employee gave was incorrect. The employee should've stated that deposits are available in two business days except in some circumstances it's seven business days. They said they will be making sure in the future employees give out the correct information. It did not help our difficult financial situation the incorrect information caused. They still could not speed up the release of the funds from the check even though this situation was a result of their incorrect information. I've updated my rating by one star because of the apology.

My family is about to move cross-country because I got a new job. My daughter gave me a large check to pay for home repairs to sell our house, car repairs, and hotels to make the move. I deposited the check at the Chase ATM. As soon as I deposited the check a message appeared on the screen stating that there would be a hold on the check for seven business days. I knew this would create a serious problem for us because of the tight timeframe we had to make the move. So I did the responsible thing and called Chase customer service the same day to confirm the seven-day hold in order to know if my daughter needed to stop payment on the check and just give us cash or a cashier's check. The customer service representative told us the funds would be released in two business days. I asked if he was sure and he repeated that it would be two business days.
Two business days passed and we discovered the check was on hold for over a week, long passed when we needed the funds. The money had already been taken from my daughter's account so she could no longer stop payment. We made several calls to Chase and the people we spoke to were unable to do anything to help us in our situation. One even told us she would call me back the next day and never did. We are now in a world of hurt and flat broke in the middle of a cross-country move because Chase gave us incorrect information at a crucial moment when we were prepared to stop payment on the check placing us in an extremely stressful and impossible situation. We currently cannot access the funds we desperately need and Chase refuses to set things right and help us out of the situation. Had Chase customer service given us the correct information when I called customer service we would not currently be in this stressful situation.

I debated if it was really worth but thought paid to try it at least... No it's not. It's an incredible hassle to meet the requirements, minimum amounts etc. Tried to do it online but for new accounts you can't do what they ask online. They make you visit a branch. Called support 3 out of 4 were eastern women who would not listen, kept repeating the scripts they get. And rude. No solutions. Once the requirements are completed I will be closing those accounts. Every day he sends me a little by zelle from his bank navy federal credit union. So just recently he sends me a good chunk so I could pay off my ticket that I totally forgot about. However this one particular transfer I never got it. All the other transfers been done by real time. This transfer shows ACCEPTED!. Which means they have the funds.
I called them over the phone. Talked to 3 different techs and the last says, "Don't worry. You will have it by end the day which was Sunday!" Yes! I thought lol. Nothing. No money .. I called them this morning and the lady tells me it was a glitch lol. Ok.. I managed over 100 employees with Amazon for 3 years. I owned a bar supporting the US Military for 22 years overseas! Don't insult my intelligence. Anyways I say, "Ok is it possible you can expedite and release the funds." They tell me no. Once they get a notification they will release it. Hmm.. So you have no authority to go out your way to help a customer? Whatever happen to customer service? Sometimes we go out our way to help one another. That's the good and human in us. What do I know.
So they are holding on to my funds because there was a glitch and they can't make any exceptions even if my life was in jeopardy. I needed the funds to pay off a speeding ticket or end up with a bench warrant and have to pay additional fees. Bankers all they worry about is $$$$! Hey I'm with you on that but that is my money you're holding on to. I know chase you can make exceptions. I guess I'm not qualified. Thanks.

Hi everybody, my name is Jhonatan **. I want to share my nightmare experience with Chase. Chase Bank not only left my kids without Christmas present, I lost a whole week of work because of chase. I'm talking about $1250.99 to be exact missing for my rent, I'm paying lates fees money from my pocket that didn't need to come out. Today is January 12 of 2023 I haven't pay my rent. Why? Because the week I lost of work because of them. So on December 16th I deposited my check thru mobile as usual every Friday or Saturday, same company, same thing every weekend. Not even when I opened the account they put any check on retention. Well this guys decided to put my check on retention until the 28th of December 2022 from December 16th. By law banks gotta give $225 from our checks available and they can put the rest on retention. But noo they didn't give me a single penny to use.
I work in Nevada and I live in California. I gotta travel driving. That day I tried to cash it with them because of course that's why open an account with them so it's easier and faster for me to get to my money. Big mistake choosing Chase bank. They never wanna cash my checks. They always say I gotta deposit it and yet don't give me none to use. So on December 16 I tried to cash it because I knew they weren't going to give me none available. I needed to get back to California with my family and I had no gas money, lucky me I used my debit card as credit and it went thru. That's how I got gas to get back to Cali that day but of course my account was already -100 for that gas... So once I pumped gas I deposited my check on December 16 at 12pm so it would be my funds ready next day. Big surprise next day YOUR CHECK IT'S ON RETENTION UNTIL THE 28th.. **!!
I called every single day to get my funds, to cancel the transaction so I could of cash my check somewhere else and all I received was a big NO. So from December 19th to 23rd 2022 I lost the week because I didn't had gas to go to work. Thanks to my mom and sister my family and me ate because I didn't had money to buy food. I live through the day from my checks. I'm very stressed because of the unnecessary money it's coming out from my pocket for late fees of my bills my missing week of work, I ended in the hospital of the stress I'm going through because of Chase and yes that's another bill added to my list and guess what Chase refuse to pay me at list the week I lost from work. Honestly I hope they leave this review in public. Let the world see your true colors... I'm a make sure to post this in every single social media because it's not fair what they did to me.. PEOPLE DON'T GET AN ACCOUNT WITH CHASE BANK.
