I have a friend whose vehicle was in delinquent status, She was able to get it permanent APR reduction!!! Listen up customers. If you Don't have the funds for your vehicle. Maybe if you let it go delinquent they will work with you.... They won't work with you beforehand though. I've called and tried. They need you to be delinquent over 75 days for them to be able to help.... Now what sense does that make customers??!!! Absolutely ridiculous.

I highly advise. Anybody looking for a vehicle stays far away from Capital One Auto financing!!!! When I called in and asked about a permanent APR reduction they said that they don't do that, And that my friend must have had an auto loan through someone else, those were all lies. We've been friends for 15 years and there's no reason to lie about what she told me.... Her payment was dropped over $400 a month, because she was in delinquent status..... So if you can't make your vehicle payments, but you really need a vehicle. Just keep driving it without paying it.... Then after it's delinquent for 75 days, call them and they'll probably make a deal with you!!!! And then you can start making half off car payments. I will never myself have another auto loan with Capital One ever!!!

After paying my full car payment including all past due amounts, I was still treated as if I was nothing. This is my second car loan with Capital One, and I’ve always done my best to keep my account in good standing. Even after showing physical evidence during the repossession dispute, Capital One chose to believe the repo agent’s written statement instead of my proof. I expected fairness and accountability, but instead I was met with disrespect and indifference. Because of this experience, I will no longer be financing or banking with Capital One. I will be closing all of my remaining accounts and taking my business elsewhere. No loyal customer deserves to be treated this way.

VERY BAD EXPERIENCE WITH A BANK EVER.. I send my full balance payment electronically. First time was 10 DAYS FROM MY DUE DATE & it was return to my bank. 2nd time was 4 days from my due date and it was accepted. And after 3 days was posted as paid on same day as my due date. It shows balance is $00.00... On the next month they charged me $97.68 interest. We called them and they said we have to pay it, so we did. In my opinion this is a scam.

I was recently pre-approved for an automobile refinance plan through Capital One, their affiliate. In fact I was waiting on the welcome letter when I received an urgent phone call so I did call them only to learn that they demanded a down payment to close the deal. I told them this was bait and switch and to drop everything. I will never do business with them again.

WORST EXPERIENCE WITH A BANK EVER! DO NOT USE THIS BANK. Interest on my loan is outrageous, the due date wasn’t where I needed it to be so I asked for it to be changed and they said “Sure, that’s 50.00, or add it at the end of your loan and add interest” so I have almost a 30.00 late fee every month. They say they have a 10 day grace period, NOT true, they’ve threatened to report to my credit when I’ve never been more than 9 days late. They refuse to refinance, they said they don’t offer that to their customers, if have to get another bank. How is that good for business? Customer service is always rude and only care about whether you made your payment and where the car is at, yes, they ask me where the car is when I call.

In terms of the management of the loan, it was fine. The problem came after I paid off the vehicle. I had been trying for 5 months to get either the lien release letter or the title. They eventually sent the title, but they sent it to the wrong address, which I obviously do not have access to. It took 5 months, about 13 phone calls, and endless waiting on hold to finally get the lien release letter.

Capital One is a thief, con artist, swindler and the list goes on and on with their rip off tactics. I telephoned to have it explained to me why the interest on the loan fluctuates from month to month. I pay 3x more then I should every month on a weekly basis and yet my interest on the loan is increasing. Spoke with 2 reps from India and 1 manager/supervisor from the US and no one could provide a sound reason. All 3 were talking in circles. Is it so hard to answer: Do I have a set interest amount that needs to be paid off regardless of how soon I pay the principal or am I paying a 5.8 interest rate daily? From the information I gathered from the 3, I am doing both. Paying a 5.8% interest rate daily and the set principal that must be paid before purchasing the car. Either way I am getting out of this horrible deal. Where are the supervision over these entities???

I have two auto loans with Capital One Auto and between my husband & I three credit cards with Capital One. Capital One Auto has to be the most frustrating auto finance department I have ever dealt with. I got married so naturally my last name changed. To handle this process Capital One Auto must "mail" the original title to the local DMV, it's not like the DMV will call you so they in return have to mail you something saying the title is there. Someone at Capital One Auto thinks it's a GREAT idea to send original titles with no tracking number, let's just put it in the hands of the USPS and hope for the best. So with this process, I have been without a legal tag on my vehicle since April of 2025 but I have to make a monthly payment on the vehicle that I cannot drive. I am forced to go to the DMV every week and just check to see if the title is there.

After this incredibly inconvenient process after about six weeks, I learned from a manager at Capital One Auto that they actually mailed my title to the wrong State. So now once a week, I call to see if they have it back and on July 7th, someone finally decides to file for a lost title. Here we are August 16, 2025 after starting this process on April 04, 2025 (a month before the tag expired), still no title, no tag and no resolution but waiting on Capital One Auto.

Had they sent the original request with a tracking number, Capital One Auto, the client and the DMV would all have known it was mailed to the wrong State and this could have been resolved months ago but hey let's save that $20.00 and now create an enormous amount of wasted time for the Customer Service team at Capital One Auto, The Customer Service Team at the DMV and let's not forget the countless hours of taking off work to drive an hour each way plus wait at the DMV for the client every single week!

You might ask why I go every week - well my title was there for two days, I did not know it was there and someone at Capital One Auto requested it back before I was notified that it was there so it was sent back. The manager at the DMV, who now knows me by name informed me of that! The second time it was sent out is when it went to the wrong State. Both scenarios would have been so easy to track with something so simple as a tracking number. I had to give two stars because so far this is the only negative thing I can say, everything else is easy, its the normal monthly process - I get a bill, I pay it. Never late, always paid in full so of course no issues.

I had an auto loan from 2/3/24 up until 7/24/25 when Geico paid off the loan when my car was totaled. I contacted the seller of the car (Avis Car Sales) for my original loan agreement for a refund for my GAP insurance and the remaining portion of my service contract. which I picked up on 8/6/2025. I received a paid-in-full letter from Capital One on 7/29/2025. I contacted the GAP/service contract company to make sure I had all the required paperwork to send in to them for the refund and was told that someone with Avis contacted them and said my car was totaled and to send the refund to the lien holder, which I never asked them to do.

I called Capital One and was told that, even though I had no account with them and they had sent me a refund for a little over $26, they could take 30-60 days to refund my account. If I had sent the papers to the GAP company they would have sent me the checks, but now they are going to hold the money for that time frame for no reason except they can. I asked if I owed anything and they said no, I asked if I had an account and they said no, but the Capital One has the right to recheck my accounts and MAKE REALLY SURE I do not owe them anything and that is their policy, even though had already done this. They are getting free interest off money they shouldn't have received.

I requested it be checked into because there is no way I owe this after over 2 years of paying $465 monthly. A supervisor called back to say, it's because of the type of loan you have? I told her an extortion loan! They just reported me over 30 days late when I wasn't. I am filing lawsuits against them and the car dealerships. I just mailed out demand letters. I have bank accounts and a credit card with them and I am closing everything out. I will never deal with Capital One again and do not recommend them.

Capital One has been absolute nightmare. Sent the 10 day pay off and they waited 9 days to process everything. Because of that I had to make an additional payment to avoid a hit on my credit and/or a late fee. The last payment was made on May 24th and now it’s August (still no refund). Each time I call something new or different has come up. I’ve been lied to on every single call I’ve been on with capital one. I’ve filed claims against them through BBB and CFPB. I honestly don’t know what else to do. Capital one should pay late fees and interest in situations like this. They are simply withholding money from people. There a ton of other reviews like this that they keep changing the dates on when we should receive the refund. Will not do any business in the future and will not recommend to anyone. Liars and thieves.

I'm currently a Capital Auto Loan holder, approved without a hassle and paid off 75%, but at the moment, I'm at a loss for another purchase. Whenever I login into my accounts, I'm asked about and encouraged to shop for a vehicle with Capital One Auto Finance backing me up because of my credit score and history. As being in the market, I'm currently "pre-qualified"; however, it is not by Capital One but another financier that I didn't know about before.

When I choose a vehicle and fill out an application, first I'm congratulated for my purchase, then I receive an email about denial of the application; "my credentials cannot be verified." After I call the customer service, all they say that I will receive a letter with explanation. If I ask anyone, online or on the phone, if the reasons may include the existing loan, or paying off that loan early will help, nobody gives a solid answer. If a third party can approve my application and will follow the process, why is Capital One selling this service as it is their own? If I'm pre-qualified, why can't Capital One verify my credentials? Or, if my credentials can't be verified, how can Capital One pre-qualify me through a third party?

Under last review for reversal but it still doesn't sound like they're going to help clear situation up. And the totaled out is confirmed yet they still seem unwilling to reverse the repo.

I would not tell the person I dislike most in this world to use this company! They are horribly unprofessional and unreliable. Their communication internally is awful, but then communicating effectively and accurately with their customers is worse. We have been attempting to get a title transferred for four months now, and each time we do all that is asked a new “issue” pops up that delays the process and causes us to figure it out. The craziest part is we are doing all this to attempt to pay off the loan, but it feels as if now they are intentionally putting up road blocks so we have to keep paying monthly with all the interest that entails. We have been excellent customers, never missed a payment or even been late. When I say don’t do it, just don’t. We would not use them again if they offered us no interest for 5 years.

I contacted Capital One to request a deferment or to have one payment moved to the end of my loan. I explained that I’m currently on FMLA due to illness after the recent passing of my husband. I also told them I had just paid for his funeral and have no money right now, but that I’ll be returning to work in May. Despite sharing my situation, they refused to help. I even spoke with someone from the President’s Office named Annett, and still received no assistance. They asked me three questions—every one of my answers clearly pointed to a legitimate hardship: I’ve lost income, I’m not currently working, and I can resume payments next month. Yet, they still denied my request. I strongly caution anyone considering a loan with Capital One, don’t do it. When you’re going through hard times, they will not support you. This has been the worst experience I’ve ever had with a finance company. Truly disappointing. Do not use them to finance your next car.
