I am looking for a used car to buy. I get regular credit score updates from Nerd Wallet and they offer a list of the best places to get pre-qualified for an auto loan. LightStream is number 1 on their list, but I wanted to check and see what the others were offering since LightStream wasn't that much better than what the dealer is offering me. I wanted to see what Capital One would offer and I attempted twice to fill out the online form. The screen would lock up repeatedly and it was making me nervous since my SS # and other personal information was already filled in.
I gave up and called Customer Service and of course the first thing she tells me is that I can only do the pre-application online and that the issues I am having are probably due to my browser. Never mind that the screen is locked up and I can't do anything at all. Nothing! Funny thing, I hear that excuse every time a poorly maintained website is not working, it's always my browser's fault. My browser must like Amazon a lot because it works flawlessly there, and also when I pay my bills online, order books and do a multitude of other things. I think that any company that doesn't maintain their website should be avoided.

All my experiences with Capital One Auto Finance customer service has been disappointing. Time and time again, Capital One does not embrace helping others in the time of a hardship. They only have an option to collect their money and not look into many options the customer has available. It just seems like you are talking to a robot versus a human with compassion to assist others.

I have been a Cap One customer for over 35 years in a variety of loans. I have a Cap One car loan at this time. Payments are on time. I need to trade up to a larger vehicle due to the amount I drive. I have applied to Cap One and they declined to finance me. I called customer service to inquire and they said, "You have to apply for the loan thru standard channels - directly on their site or through a car dealership". No success either source. If I am a current loan holder and current with payments - what is the deal? Car financiers know... car payments and rent or mortgage are first to pay, why decline an account holder in good standing?

Incredibly, heartbreaking poor service. I've used this company for years, for both savings accounts, credit cards, and auto loans. I just paid off my first car that I've worked so hard for, and have been waiting for weeks for the title to appear in the mail. I called customer service to check on the status, only to be told that they "just send it in the regular mail, it's not important enough for a tracking number", and "it should've been delivered a month ago". They could care less about customers and the importance of their well being. They have NO problem reaching you, or making sure that you receive your bill every month on time... but the TITLE TO MY CAR, that they could care less about. They got their last dime and that is all that matters. Needless to say I am closing EVERY account, and will NEVER support their scheme again...

In an attempt to pay off my auto loan with Capital One, Capital One informed me (On a recorded line and by mail) that my loan was paid off so title was transferred. It turns out that the payoff check was fraudulent so the funds were returned by Capital One and Capital One did nothing to notify me that the payment was returned - they didn't call, text, email or send a letter. I had no clue about the issue until I got a call by them for a delinquent payment on a loan I thought I had paid off. Now I have no vehicle and a $30,000 auto loan. Capital One's response is that they had no obligation to notify me because the fraud happened at a different bank. They have completely washed their hands of this matter. Very disappointing coming from a bank that prides itself on customer service and making the customer the priority.

I’ve had my vehicle since 2012. Have paid over $8000 in interest with ONLY 5 payments left and a balance little over $1500. They pick up my vehicle with no truly helpful attempt to help me get it back. So I ask you... Does repo’ing my car show appreciation for being a loyal customer? #CapitalOneNOLOVE

I am puzzled how there is no way to contact Capital One Auto Finance through email UNLESS you are trying to apply for the initial loan through them... in which case you can use comment@capitalone.com. Otherwise, you have to call the 1-800-946-0332 number and of course today a person that speaks in a low and barely audible tone will tell you the system is down for software updates (MIDDLE OF A WORK DAY at that) and to try back in one or two hours... every one or two hours the same message. But again system up and running to submit an application with their outrageous set in stone fixed APR. You never can speak with a person or get the quality interaction they are paid to provided to a consumer period. Knowing is power so I know never again will I go through them for a car loan because I need to be able to converse with actual people... and ones who can guide me to answers I seek at that.

I've always made my payments online but in May 2018 I was locked out of my account (I was behind on payments) and the system asked for my account number in order to reset the password which I did not have. All communication from them only list the last 4 digits of the account number. I emailed asking for the account number and they replied I must call. I responded I've been off work on disability since March due to a lung infection which makes it difficult to speak. They still refused to send it, I finally called in June to make payment and the person kept asking me to repeat myself because she couldn't understand me.
I forgot to ask for the account number and they didn't offer. I didn't make a payment in July but tried to make 2 payments in August and again they refused to accommodate my disability by not sending the account number and forcing me to call. And again the guy kept asking me to repeat myself because he couldn't understand me. This is a violation of the ADA act 1990- The ADA defines an "individual with a disability" as a person who has a physical or mental impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activities, has a record of such an impairment, or is regarded as having such an impairment.

I went through the "pre approval" process when I got to the dealership. Capital One wanted 5k down and a APR of 15%. The very next lender I went to single digit APR and no money down. Are the dealerships get a kickback from getting people to sign these egregious terms? Makes one wonder, I would NEVER recommend them to anyone.

Do not trust this company. Predatory lender. Throughout a 6 year loan I disputed the amount owed several times and repeatedly requested a payment history from them - never received one. Finally made it to the end of the loan. $2,000 to pay. They asked if I wanted to pay off less to settle the acct. I said, “No of course not, I will pay the full $2,000”... and did in 3 payments. Sure enough - I just saw this on my credit report that it was charged off and $1,200 is owed. I called Capital One and the young lady said she could put in a dispute but she couldn't promise Cap One would change it. I asked to speak to a supervisor and waited for 20 min before I just gave up. I would love to be part of a class action suit against these folks.

About four years ago I applied for a loan through a Dealership to finance a 2014 Hyundai Tucson. I had no prior knowledge of Capital One auto finance but was pleased with their generous interest rate with me having credit score 680. A couple years later my daughter was accepted into the top nursing school in the country at just age 19. We were thrilled but knew that we would be facing substantial expenses for her education. The books and uniforms alone were $3000.00 We managed well for a while but fell behind at certain times. I responded to a call from Capital One finance department with fear of facing aggressive language demanding immediate payment. Instead, as I outlined my reasons for the financial strain, what I was met with was compassion and understanding.
The agent listened to my reasons and was very supportive. He said, "Capital One is committed to our customers and we are going to lower your interest rate so that you have more money to put towards your child’s education." I was left breathless, I could not believe it, but that is exactly what this amazing company did. My daughter graduated on May 1, 2018 summā cum laude and passed her state board registered nursing exam on July 6, 2018 all thanks to Capital One who did indeed finance her education. Thank you Capital One!

I am not one to trust big corporate companies. I feel they are out to milk you and such. I have called other companies (which I will not mention here), and the poor service and rudeness is just appalling. Capital One has helped me and my family through my darkest days financially. Never had a problem with my credit card, nor my auto loan which they gave me a chance when everyone else closed their doors on me because of my credit score. Thanks to Capital One my credit repair has been a successful journey for me and my family. Everyone has their individual experience, I respect that, and do empathize with all sad situations. Perhaps I was an exception or just plain luck, but I appreciate them especially the beautiful flowers they sent me when I changed my address. That was CS at its best???

I had a major car accident in May 2018 and my car was a total loss. So I was shopping for cars online while the insurance and gap was settling on my car. I came along Capital One Auto Financing. So I called them they made it sound so easy. So I got pre-qualified. I knew was not going to purchase another new car because I realized on this wreck how much cars depreciate once you drive off the lot. But on the navigator I learned the later model car and lower the mile better rate you get.
So once my other car got paid off I went shopping and I come across a great deal at Southwest KIA in RR and the process was so simple. I gave them my DL and insurance. They ran my credit and they naturally want to put me with other lenders. I asked them would they run my credit again they said yes. I said NO. "Are my payments what we agreed on this 2018 KIA Forte of 3300 miles?" They said yes. "I will take it." I went back to the finance guy signed the papers. They cleaned up the car filled it with gas and I drove away. A very happy customer.

I went for Capital One Auto because Credit karma recommended it. Very bad advice! This company has poor customer service. I had to call them about twenty times to resolve an issue about payment not posted correctly. The wait was very long. The reps were very incompetent, trotting out lies to cover up their incompetence. I talked to the so-called President office resolution specialists. They offered me fake apologies and refused to make up for their poor customer service. I wasted about five hours in phone calls and made about 20 calls.
Some of the reps in the so called President office like Lorraine and Viejo and another liar, Pasha, were plain condescending and treated me as a nuisance. They refused to connect me to the President so that I can bring the issues to his attention. All in all, very poor customer service and I advise potential customers to avoid this company. They have no respect and consideration for customers. The employees only care about their paychecks- they are shameless mercenaries. I regret taking a car loan there. I want to pay up and be done with them as soon as possible. Shame on Credit Karma for misleading customers.

I would like to begin this 'review', by thanking Capital One. Back in September of 2017, I was in a bit of a difficult situation. I had lost my wonderful mother a few months prior, and well, life was difficult. (I still miss her greatly) I was all alone and without my safety net; that is difficult to acknowledge, as I am now 39 years old. I had let my credit take a dive, over the past few years -- I didn't need it - I had Mom. That was all gone, and Capital One was there for me. I opened a secured credit card with them in I believe, June of 2017. I purchased my Mom's vehicle in September of 2016, and I was fixing something on it, every single month. Every single month!
Fast forward to September of 2017, and my alternator was shot. I could spend another $500 on this dang car, or try and trade it in, and get something more reliable. I did my due diligence and found that Capital One offered pre-qualified loans, without a hard pull on my credit. (I had been frantically trying to improve my credit score - still am) To my surprise, I was pre-approved with a credit score under 550. I was fortunate enough to find a reliable vehicle, and could afford the monthly payments. Nobody else would touch me and my credit profile, other than buy here pay here places, and I didn't have the required down payment or the 8 contact information, they required. I am considering a new vehicle, and was just approved for a loan amount of 34k. My credit score is improving, and I owe a lot of that to Capital One.
I've read through several pages of comments on here; and for those that have had hardships in life - I am so very sorry. I'm truly am. Having said that - this is a bank. They have an obligation to not only their shareholders, but also their employees. The person(s) you spoke with on the phone, also has financial obligations and people they are responsible for. That in no way diminishes your troubles, but, perspective is needed. I am in no way affiliated with Capital One; this was my honest opinion, and in no way seeks to diminish the BS, some customers have encountered. They took a chance on me, during my darkest hour - - and for that, I am forever grateful.

I am 65 and disabled and live alone. I purchased a vehicle from Capital One Auto Oct 2016 (1 1/2 years ago). I paid about $7,500 dollars for it. The interest rate was 19.5%. They added a warranty to it $2,500 dollars. They said it was for 2 years. They failed to mention after 2 years and warranty was out I had to still pay for warranty for the next 3 years but had no warranty. I estimated the warranty was going to be about $43 dollars a month for the 3 years with no warranty. I estimated the cost to be about $4,300 dollars for nothing. I purchased this car online and they delivered it. There was no one to go over loan.
After I purchased it I called about refinancing. They informed me they didn’t refinance their loans. This $7,500 car was going to cost about $18,000 dollars. The only way out was to trade it in. They said that would be no problem if current. 1 and a 1/2 years later last week (May 11, 2018) I need to trade my vehicle for medical problems. I need something to get in and out of easily. They turned me down for a loan and over the last 18 months since I purchased the car I was never late or missed a payment. I paid about $8 dollars a month extra each month, I just round off the payment.
After they turned down loan I went to dealer, one of their dealers, to trade it in. Capital One turned that loan down also. This is their original loan but they said I was to upside down for them to trade. My car was worth about $3,500 to &4,000 dollars. My payoff was $9,300 dollars. I was shocked when I found all this out. How can you be upside down over $5,000 dollars in 18 months. I had to have a vehicle so I was going to pay $3,000 dollars down to help offset the negative equity. Capital One still would not trade for me. They seen where they were going to make a lot of money and the dealer I purchased it from made the same amount of money. This is about as unfair and unethical as you can be.
If this is not Elderly exploitation and coercion and predator lending I don’t know what is. I had to purchased a vehicle so I had to finance another at a higher interest rate because I owned a car. I am now out $3,000 and I still have my car. Being disabled you only get so much and you have to make it. This will hurt bad. This should be extortion and illegal and there should be some agency to help. The govt now just passes it to someone else. If anyone has a solution please let me know.

Capital One auto navigator is nothing more than a scam between themselves and the less than trustworthy car dealerships that they only allow you to purchase your car from. I live in the Greenville, TX and purchased my car from Baker Nissan in Houston TX (a 4 hour drive) because that was the closest dealer that had the car I wanted. All negotiation was over the phone and to be put in writing and FedEx told me to sign. Josh the finance manager insisted that I get the extended service warranty. Of course that was something I knew needed to have. Therefore, I only had one question. Will I be able to take my car to a Mercedes dealer for service? Josh assured me that I would be able to take my car anywhere and use the service agreement. BIG LIE as when it came time to take my car to be serviced I was told I could only use the service agreement at Baker Nissan in Houston TX (a 4 hour drive).
I called Baker Nissan and was informed that Josh no longer worked there. The new manager Mike expressed how sorry he was and how unfair that was for Josh to “mis-inform me”. Nice word for lie. Mike also promised to look into this and get back with me. He never returned “any” of my call nor after calling for almost 1 week neither did the manager of Baker Nissan or the owner Mr Baker himself returned any of my calls.
My next move was to call Capital One and let them handle the situation, after all this was a dealer they recommend. I informed them of what had happen and they too were sorry and agreed that it was unfair and would have someone get back with me. I received one call from Brandy to inform me that she was working on the situation. Never heard back from her until me having to leave several messages. When I finally did hear back from her she informed me that I should keep calling Baker Nissan. This all started almost a month ago. As of today after leaving my final message with Baker Nissan receptionist, that I would be driving to Houston to talk to some if no one was going to return my call, that got me a call back from Amanda as well as her manager Memories (who both were helpful has they could possibly be) apologizing that I was mislead (lied to) that they would cancel the warranty agreement. However, that I would not be receiving any money paid into the warranty. Instead it would go to Capital One.
The warranty was right at $700. However, the payout as of today, since it has been almost over a year, is a little over $400. Keep in mind I never used the warranty! Today (right at a month later) I received a call back from Ms Capital One herself wanting to know if I had heard back from Mike with Baker Nissan and had everything been taken care of… Blank stare at the phone while thanking God for growth in the cursing area. I will be refinancing soon & paying off my Capital One card! Capital One gets a BIG FAT 0 from me and Baker Nissan gets less than that!

I am very disappointed with Capital One unethical lending practices. I contacted Capital One Auto finance back in Feb 2018 to give them information on someone who I knew that used fake or Manufactured paystubs in order to obtain a second auto loan on a $10.00 hr salary. I informed the fraud unit that this person provided the dealership with paystubs that stated they make $20.00 hr, When they only make $10.00 hr. Obviously, the dealership nor Capital One verified the salary or this wouldn't have gotten pass. I didn't ask Capital One for any info on this person, as I gave them all of the information, including the person's name, their address, employer, dealership where they went, and the date of the loan. How did I know all of this, because l lend the person the down payment contingent on getting approved. Little did I know, that the person was going to inflate their salary to ensure that they got the loan approval.
Capital One only had to call the employer and verify the salary if they wanted to do something about this, yet they were asking me for proof. WOW, I'm lost! Since when do you need proof to follow up on a tip about fraud. They had nothing to lose by verification of the salary, which is what they should have done in the first place. This has put a very bad taste in my mouth about Capital One. They only care about providing loans, regardless of how unethical it is. What agency can do something about this? They are providing loans based on false information and I thought this was illegal. Can you imagine how many other times they have allowed this, and people have defaulted on the loans! Guess who will end up paying for this in the long run, Consumers like you and myself. This is the same thing that happened with the Housing market bubble burst.
Updated on 06/13/2018: I have written a review on Capital One site as well. As a result, I was contacted by a representative through Email. She informed me that my information was being forwarded to the Office of the President and that someone would call me for more information about my complaint. On May 4, 2018, which was a Friday I missed a call from the office of the President, but received a voicemail from a particular representative asking me to return the call. However, it wasn't until Monday May 7 that I spoke to the representative.
Upon speaking to this representative, she had no idea who I was, what I was calling about nor did she have any information about the review, even though she called me and I was returning her call. Then she asked me to verify my account, although I wasn't even calling about my account. Since I am also a Capital One customer as well, I complied with her request. At that point, she told me that she couldn't give me any information on someone else account, and then blatantly lied to me telling me that she couldn't verify my account either. At that point, I explained to her that I didn't ask her for any information on someone else account and I thought she was calling me for more information about my complaint, as I received a email stating that I would receive such a call.
Then I questioned, how is it she couldn't verify my account when the # that I was calling from is the same # that is connected to my account and the same # that was provided in the email for my contact information. As a result I requested to speak to a manager, which was granted. However, she just tried to clean it up and claim that the representative failure verify my account was a misunderstanding. I was still lost because my account had nothing to do with it at all. That was just me trying to be cooperative. What a mess! Nothing solved and still nothing done about the situation.
I am still at a loss as to how Capitol One verifies some people jobs and income who has a good credit score, but doesn't verify someone job and income who has a low credit score a open car loan and falsify their income. Then ignores it when brought to their attention. Sounds very Unethical, Unfair and Discriminatory to me. They continue to grow their business by practicing such bad behavior. I also don't understand why there is no agency that can step in and stop them from doing this. No one is going to do anything about this until it hits the fan and we are in a auto loan crisis like the one with the Housing market. Everyone will pay more because of high interest rates and then Banks will be denying anyone who has less than perfect credit. SAD!!!

Due to recently finding my birth father I legally changed my last name to match his, of course, my wife and children as well. I sent Capital One my new drivers license, my wife's new drivers license, my new Social Security card and that of my wife's, my court order for me (the court would not issue a court order for my wife as she was not changing her birth certificate) as well as the official change of name from North Carolina DMV on the lien record as well as the title name change. I spoke with Capital Ones' dept of titles, to get them to change my name. They agreed to change my last name but would not change my wife's because they did not have a court order. After explaining to them the court would not issue a court order. They stated they would not change her last name despite being in possession of the documents above.
This escalated supposedly as I was told to the last person in the dept. who stated well, after I paid off the vehicle I could do with the title what I wanted. One stated I could get my wife to change her birth certificate, and I told all three at some point common sense had to prevail, Unfortunately it did not. The last individual stated there was no one I could talk to. That he was the last one in his department. I told him, so essentially they were going to be stuck with technically a non-existent person on the title as my wife has already legally changed her name. Really, is this what has happened? That NO COMMON SENSE EXISTS?

I had a car that was paid off and then I had a loan to provide my wife a car to drive and a loan to provide our son with a car to drive. Then I found a vehicle that was exceptional at a dealership and no one I called would allow me to have three car loans. So the dealership told me that they could get the vehicle financed for me through Capital One Auto Finance, so I said OK. Then they came to me and told me that Capital One would be charging me 17.9% interest on the loan.
I had been looking for this Special Edition vehicle for quite some time and I went ahead and said YES. The car I bought cost me $16,000, and then the dealership said that I would get a better interest rate if I bought an extended warranty program from them. I knew better, but on a used car it did not seem like such a bad idea. I paid 472.00 a month for that vehicle for 4 1/2 years. The total I paid them was over $19,900, and they told me I still had a payoff of $12,800. Now I am not brilliant but that adds up to over $32,000 over the term of the note.
I don't care what type of accounting method you use to calculate your payments, NO ONE ON EARTH IS ENTITLED TO 100% interest on a note in the US. I asked them to refinance the balance for me to make it more affordable and they simply told me they don't accept a vehicle over 7 years old as collateral. So I told them to come and get the darn thing and they had the audacity to advise me they would sell it at auction and I would owe them a deficiency balance. YEAH RIGHT!!! It will be cold day you-know-where when they ever get another dime out of me!!!

I would like to share my horrible experience with this company and with their incompetent agents or the so called managers Desiree ** and Meredith **. All things were going well, until I paid off my loan. So when I moved to a different state, I registered my car and since at that time, Capital One was my lien holder, the state mailed my title to them. Then, when I paid off my loan, they lost my title and titled it again in a different state without my knowledge. I never received the physical copy of the title which they lost and the other state where they released my title held it electronically...
When again, I went to my current state to renew the stickers and registration, I was informed my title was held in different state and that they need the physical copy of the previous last year title which they mailed to my then lien holder Capital One. With lot of trouble and not able to drive my car for several days and numerous phone call, Desiree found my lost title which they earlier claimed was mailed to me (straight lying). After this, I had to apply for a certified copy of the title from the state where Capital One titled my car.
When, I received all the documents, my current state had to do the whole process of registration again with issuing new license plate, and I had to pay the whole fee again, since now I had an out of state title. With all this, now when I am asking them to reimburse the amount which I should not be paying again, they are denying any fault at their end and are not ready to reimburse. This company does not care about its consumers, once the loan is paid they care least. Poor management and the staff does not do any research and just waste time in talking over phone. They will call and talk but will not resolve the issue. They are dishonest and show no empathy and concern for their customers.

I did let Capital One know and I relocated thinking I would have time to catch up. Well they found me quickly in the state I moved to and on 2/14/18 they sent the tow truck. I was at work and my family got all my belongings out the car, and then I had a decision to make. I owed $2538 and payday was on Friday so do I just let them take my car? Or use the money to buy a trap car? File a chapter 7 which I’ve done in the past?
Long story I know but I ended up calling the next day and Doris the rep was awesome. She put the $375 repo fee and the $160 late fees to the end of my loan and they told the buggers at the repo storage facility they could charge no more than $35/day and I really appreciated that they did those things 'cause I would’ve had to pay close to $3000 to get my car back. So I paid them Friday out. Chase account release letter was sent and I got my Hugo back, and I felt just as proud driving from that repo lot as the day I drove my car off the lot. Thank you Capital One and God bless you Doris.

The only answers that I was given was that I "need to contact the Estate Department" and give them the information. I have called that number several times only to be told that the department is not open yet. How can you not be open at 2:00 pm?? I am promised each time I call that a "supervisor" will call me back. Tried to get another loan and trade in this car for a newer one. This time they denied me. Won't tell me why until I get a letter in 7 to 10 days. Way to go Capital One on keeping good customers. I was looking for a new or lower mileage, newer used car. Capital One just happened to come up in my search (I've had their credit cards for years). Now, keeping in mind what Capital One is about, they service people with "not the greatest credit". So there are a lot of reviews here from people who got in over their head. My experience, the application process was very easy. I was looking for a Ford, which I could have bought new on their employee purchase plan... but Ford credit turned me down. Capital One's interest rates vary by the vehicle, and amount borrowed.
I actually lowered my interest rate quite a bit by paying $300 more down ($2000 vs $1700). I'm right around 7% interest, I had the dealer run their banks, Capital One was still the lowest of 4 lenders. I have a 3 year old Ford van with 17,500 miles on it. Close enough to new, at half the price of new. I say, give them a shot. However, know your limitations, what you can afford and your employment stability. I see a lot of reviews complaining how their car was repossessed when they quit paying. Yep, that's how it works with any bank.

So I bought a 2011 Toyota Camry back in 2012. Payments were for the most part on time but at one point after a job loss we fell behind. Like others who wrote reviews I too kept in contact asking for extensions, in which they take a couple of payments and put them at the end of the loan, but each time I was denied! Well this past August I woke one morning to find my car "missing"... after calling the local PD I found out it was REPOSSESSED! If that's not bad enough it was by a company 60 miles away who ONLY allows you 4 hrs a day window to get down there to claim it!
Anyway, I called Cap One to ask WHY and according to them we were 4 payments behind which I couldn't understand. I must've lost count somewhere (???). After 2 days of going back and forth they finally agreed to take ONLY the back payments and put all fees for repo and late fees at back of loan! (Yea NOW you want to do that! SMH!) So we get the car back on Sept 1st NOT without damage and a broken license plate... only to have it get totalled in an accident on Oct 31st! Guess I should have left it at the repo yard!!! In all honesty it worked out because he got good money from insurance and it paid off loan and got him a new ride out of mommy's name! Below is his new car NOT financed through Cap One!

I wish we could give Zero stars! I bought a car and the dealership chose Capital One as my financer (I wanted Ally). At first they were all sweet and nice. Didn't have a problem until I fell behind due to someone in the fam losing their job. I called and spoke with a representative and asked for one payment to be put at the end of the loan. That request was refused. I asked over and over in the coming months until I was two months behind. Then three. Every time I called and spoke with a representative and they told me that I was not in repo status and to send payment as soon as possible. Again I was refused for a payment to be put at the end of the loan. We fell further into debt, and they refused to help until I was several months past due. The finally agreed to work with me and told me that the only thing they can do is give me a payment plan of 3 months at almost $600 per month.
We scraped the first payment together and paid it. The second payment - I didn't know how I could pay that much as I am on disability. The other member of the family was working again but it wasn't a high paying job. I called them again and asked if the remaining two payments could be spread across 3 months instead of two. I told them we were struggling. They didn't care and told me they cannot change the agreement. I asked them, "Do you do this purposely to repo peoples' cars and make more money?" The rep replied that no, they didn't. But it didn't behoove them to put payments at the end of the loan. I ask why not and never received a straight answer. I told them Ally had no problem with it.
Well a month or so later they repo'd my car. Thankfully we were able to buy a used car from someone so we had transportation. The kicker was - They sold a car with a 13,000 balance for 2,888! There was no reason they couldn't sell it for way more. And now I'm receiving collection letters for the 13,000. I get that they want their money but I don't have any to give them. They are the worst for helping out customers going through rough spots.

After being with this company since 2013 I have to say that this company is money hungry leeches. I bought this car for my husband who had a heart attack and needed a car that had AC. This was the only vehicle that the car dealership could get us into. Sadly that also came with a 12.48% Apr. So after everything and having 2 years or good payments on-time and automatic they now are not willing to help. I was 6 months pregnant and seen that making my 365.00 payments was not going to keep going. I asked to see if I could settle my debt and get the car paid off. Well which that also said the engine blew a rod to the point it will cost me about 6500 to replace the engine and me owing 7500 that just financially did not make sense. So I tried to settle my debt since my payoff amount was 7293 and the interest that has been paid to date is 10000. I feel Capital One auto already made their money off of me and settle for 3500. They said no.
So sadly I lost my job two weeks ago and I am 8.5 months pregnant. My husband is self-employed and is doing his best to keep income coming in to pay rent but the last 2 months have not worked out well in our favor. Being behind in rent, utilities and now car payment the stress is overwhelming. I called Capital One Auto asking to see what they suggest I do or if there is anything they can help with and all they can say is wait until the 25th for the repo stage and then talk to a repo agent to see if they can help. Well sadly I was not ready to just give up but I guess this is how Capital One Auto makes their money. Very sad that this company are not out to help their customers. Instead they want to line their pockets.

Every phone call/correspondence with customer service has been thorough, professional & quite often educating. If I were to ever find myself in a inadvertently &/or temporary bind EVERY effort was made by Capital One to ensure a reasonable, convenient way ahead. Being proactive by owning/explaining your oversight, delinquency (break in loan agreement), etc and following through on an alternate plan agreed upon by both parties knowing, by law of contract, they had no obligation to do so, has made my personal experience with Capital One Auto finance, highly recommendable.
Not to mention, as a military member entitled to the SCRA interest rate limits, my interest rate was lowered immediately upon notification and a call that ended with "thank you for your service". To each their own, but understanding there is a process to every transaction allows for a reasonable perspective on the time it may take to complete and/or receive. We had an auto loan with Capital One for almost four years. My fiance's car was the one financed through Capital One, but I was on the loan with him. Recently we experienced a total loss and our insurance company settled with us for more than the remainder of the auto loan with Capital One. My fiance spoke over the phone with our insurance company and a representative from Capital One on the same line regarding how to handle the payoff, and when Capital One could expect the check from our insurance company.
My fiance did everything right. We had to get him a replacement vehicle as soon as possible after the total loss, so we went car shopping and purchased a new vehicle that did require financing on our part. We were OK with that, knowing Capital One would be paid off the following Monday (two days later) and that we would be comfortable enough to afford the payments on the new vehicle. Well, we called Capital One because we needed a statement from them saying they'd spoken to our insurance company and that they were aware the entirety of the loan with them would be paid. That's all we needed.
My fiance was on the phone for an hour and a half and was transferred to 5 different auto finance reps before he asked to speak to a manager. All of the reps he spoke with were rude, claimed they had had no contact with our insurance company, and that we were two months past due on the payment toward the loan that was about to be PAID OFF IN FULL (and then some). We literally needed them to send us ANYTHING that simply stated either notes from a contact report saying something like they had "been in talks with the insurance company and are expecting payment in the next few days". But NO ONE would help him, and they kept giving him the runaround.
We knew that this short letter was the ONLY thing we needed so that the new finance company (for the new vehicle we HAD to purchase so my fiance can drive 100 miles to his full-time job and back every day) would know the old loan was paid out in full. Capital One is a bunch of idiots. We were at our wits' end with them when this happened, and are so glad we will never have to deal with them again! Please let this be a warning to you. Do NOT finance with Capital One or even do business with these crooks. This morning I get an alert from MyFico and Credit Karma that there was a change. Our score dropped by 79 points for late payments to Capital One Auto. This is very wrong. They have incorrectly reported my payments and saying I owe them two months of past due payments. I hire a Credit Pros to fix it but that would cost additional money which would decrease my payment to purchasing a home. Our plan was to apply for a home loan as a first time buyer this month. I have a nonsecured CC with Capital One. I've never had any issues with that and have enjoyed regular credit increases. For about the last year, I keep receiving letters about every 2 months saying I am approved for $35,000 from this dealership or that. Those have usually went in the trash, as I was not looking to buy another vehicle. I own my current vehicle outright and happy to have no payments. However, recently I decided, "Why not treat myself?" I filled out my loan application through Auto Nav, uploaded the requested documents, and got my prequalification letter.
There was certain criteria in which the vehicle had to meet, and according to their instructions, once I found that vehicle I just had to bring in my prequalified letter and everything would be good. 30 min or less, right? Wrong. Found my perfect vehicle, met all criteria, 90 min later was informed that I would need a larger down payment than thought, my monthly payment was $100 more than we discussed (Capital One says due to high miles, which were 100,000... on a truck), and told I would need a co-signer because my income was not enough.
Let me remind you I filled out the application and uploaded my proof of income, and they said I was qualified for $30,000. The truck was $16,900, almost half of my "qualification." They wanted $3000 down, I was only willing to put $2,000 down. We discussed payments of $350/month or less, they came back with $442/month (supposedly due to "high miles"). The criteria was 10 years or newer (truck is almost 8) and 120,000 miles or less (truck has 100,000) but what really gets me is now I need a co-signer due to my income, although they already had that information when they "prequalified" me. It's a nice bait-and-switch. I walked out of the dealership and will get my loan through another company.

Everyone denied me because of my age, although I had managed to have a fair credit score at the time. The only one that gave me a chance was Capital One! They have been great. The convenience of the app is great. I am easily able to make bi-weekly payments, and principal only payments. I will be done paying my car loan by April of 2017 when my original loan payoff date was July of 2022! They are a great company that I would recommend to ANYONE!

My car was repossessed after missing 4 months of payments and I have to be honest, Capital One worked with me for over a year and half with my late payments due to loss of income. When my car was repossessed, I was frantic and concerned if they were going to give me a chance because I literally just got a job. I called them and they actually helped me once again. They were able to extend my loan for two months, waive the late fees and repossession fee and all I had to pay to get my car back was two months of the past due amount and the next month my regular payment would start again on a fresh note. I paid it right away and they put me on hold and cleared my car to get released the same day.
I am back on my regular monthly payments and now that I am working again, I'm grateful to have my loan with them because they could have been ** and required the full amount due on my loan or not want to assist at all. To God be the Glory and I hope this helps someone who is worried. I wrote this review because when my car was repossessed, I came onto this site and was so scared if they were going to work with me and they did. My advice is to pick up the phone and work with them because it's my fault my car even got repossessed because they always worked with me even with my late payments. Hope this helps some. :)

Missed my November payment because of a car accident (other party was at fault) and had to pay for rental while my car was being fixed (almost a month). Called in December to explain the situation and they split my November payment into 4 scheduled payments which added onto the month's current due (Jan. 3, Feb. 3, Mar. 3 & Mar. 18). First scheduled went through last night for $684.35 which is the correct amount of the scheduled payment for Jan. Then I noticed that there was a remaining $410.35 in my current due for Jan. 16; that shouldn't be there because the month's payment was changed to the 3rd. Turns out, $410.35 is the remaining (split) payment from November.
I called and a Filipino lady (Mina) with a heavy accent helped me but I had to explain to her 6 times why I shouldn't have the $410.35 due on the 16th when it's suppose to be added onto the next 3 payments; she transferred me to the Finance Catch-Up specialist (another Filipino lady by the name of Talia) -- Talia was nice at first then she got aggressive; repeating to me that I had until the 16th to pay the $410.35 or I'd be charged a late fee after the grace period of 10 days. I kept explaining to her, "why am I suppose to pay that on the 16th when there should NOT be a payment due on the 16th because that $410.35 is already schedule into the next 3 payments?" Then she kept repeating herself about making the payment on time by the 16th. I had enough and said, "thank you for helping me, but it seems like you people have no idea what you're doing" and hung up.
Now I'm stuck with a payment that I'm not suppose to make this month while I already have 3 custom payments scheduled. Thought the point of the Catch-Up system was to take a missed payment and schedule it into future payments to avoid late-fees and to have the person pay the missing payment in the scheduled times?! Apparently that system is a lie. Capital One has the worst customer service in the Philippines--thanks, for nothing.

I paid off my car loan in Jan 2016. At that point Capital One sent me a title but did a wonderful job by not putting my apartment number on the envelope in which title was enclosed. As a result, title did not come to me. After a few phone calls and a personal appearance at a local Capital One bank, they sent me the title after about 6 weeks of waiting time. But while my lost title was wandering around between me and them somewhere, they had acquired another title from Connecticut. They first sent me the lost title which was issued by Connecticut DMV in March and then they sent me the replacement title too which was issued by Connecticut in April, without any note explaining as to which title I should keep. They did not inform me that one of these titles had automatically nullified the other.
Since I had already received the original title which Capital One previously lost, I kept that one and shredded the one they sent after, as I reasonably thought they mistakenly sent it twice. However, the one I tore apart was the valid one. Auto Finance dept never informed me they had acquired a replacement title and that the latest one will cancel out the previous one. This also indicates that inside their department, the system is nothing but a piece of crap. They don't keep track of what is being sent to who and how many times. Extremely disappointing. The most stupid thing they did was sending me both titles or the lost title. If they had already acquired a new title, that was the only one they should have mailed me to keep the matter simple. Or they should at least have included a note with the newer title explaining that this was the valid one. By sending both titles, they simply exacerbated the problem.
All this happened in March. However, in August I sold out my vehicle to a third party signing the 2nd last title (the one Capital One originally lost in mail) and when the buyer tried to transfer it under her name, Texas DMV refused to accept that title calling it invalid since it was not the most current one. Texas DMV wants the title issued on April 5th, not the one I signed which was issued on March 22nd. This horrible auto finance dept has put me in a very difficult position. My buyer is now being suspicious of me. I contacted the Capital One Auto dept so they can do something about it and they secured their side by simply saying, nothing is in their hands and they can't do anything about it. Come on Idiots. You were my lenders and you are ones who created all this mess by first putting a wrong address on title envelope and then sending two titles for one vehicle.
At this point, this horrible department left me with two options: to send their lien of release letter to Connecticut to obtain the newest title which may take up to 90 days (something my buyer does not want to do at all) or else I have to fly over to Connecticut from Texas to get the title immediately so my buyer in Texas can transfer it over to her name. Horrible experience! In case, if I fly over to Connecticut to fix this mess, I will be seeking a legal remedy for all these travel expenses and mental hassle I have gone through.

I wish I could give 0 stars! First of all, trying to get a hold of anyone of the phone to make a payment is a nightmare. After months of frustration I decided I would try to make payments online. I got the Capitol One app and it was easily just as bad if not worse. There was no way for me to make a payment. I signed in and was able to see the balance I owed (which was wrong!) but when I tried to make a payment I was rerouted to sign in again... This literally happened over and over until I eventually gave up. Also, I have never missed or been late on any payment since I have taken out this loan. However, I somehow have an outstanding balance of over $1000! Online statements are reflecting I have missed two payments and have racked up hundreds of dollars worth of late fees. Absolutely ridiculous.
Every time I have made a payment, not only has the representative confirmed that the payment went through but Capitol One has happily (and very promptly) debited the money from my checking account. I am absolutely furious at this point. I will never recommend Capitol One to ANYONE. Actually... I will take any opportunity I get to deter anyone and everyone from using this bank. They are simply awful.

I keep receiving mail and occasional email from Capital One saying I am approved to purchase an auto or truck for $35,000.00. This is sort of stupid since they won't raise my credit limit on my platinum card another $250.00, from $750.00 to $1,000.00. I called them once before, perhaps 6 months ago and asked them to stop sending me offers to purchase a car for $35,000.00 (local vehicles from a variety of different makes, e.g., Ford, Chevy, Hyundai, Toyota, etc.). They agreed, but I continued to receive these offers.
Finally I called them today again and asked them to stop sending these offers, that it seemed stupid since they won't offer $250.00 more in credit but I can get $35,000 to get a car. The lady said the offers come from GM because I have a GM Capital One card. Uh... no I don't. I have the platinum card lady. So she can't help me but transfers me to someone else, who in turn transfers me to someone else. The last person I talk to, I couldn't even understand. His words were muffled and he was talking fast. I asked him to slow down and enunciate his words better, but alas, all I heard the entire time was what sounded like someone trying to talk through a wet blanket. At the end of his speech I did recognize, somewhat, words to the effect, "Is there anything else we can do for you?"
I wasn't sure what he said. And I'm not sure he eliminated the offers that I get monthly for exorbitant funds to purchase automobiles. What I am sure of, however, is that it is ridiculous to offer $35,000 dollars for a car, but not allow another $250 dollars on my credit card. That's just plain stupid. So I think I just wasted an hour on the phone for nothing. And to boot, I never authorized them to give my information away to local dealerships, but obviously they don't care, even after you specifically request for them not to. I'll just pay the card off, close the account and seek another card from a company that doesn't sell your information even if you tell them not to, and to a company that at least can offer better rates, better credit line amounts, and who can talk to you without the phone in their mouth so far as to be unintelligible.

I purchased my used car from a local dealership in April 2016. At the time of purchase the dealership stated that the loan institution, Capital One Auto Financing, would mail me invoices monthly for my payment they did not know when my first payment would be due however they estimated it would be in early June. Early June I began receiving offers of credit and other mailings from Capital One however I did not receive a invoice. The third week of June passed and having not received any paperwork from Capital One Auto Financing regarding my car loan I contacted the dealership where I purchased the car. The dealership was unable to assist in providing any information such as a account number or for that matter a contact number for customer service. They did give me a address and suggested I look it up online.
Undaunted I photocopied the paperwork provided to me by the dealership on the day I purchased my car, wrote a check, and mailed both with a explanation to the address they provided. I did not know the amount of my monthly payment nor did I know the due date or my balance at the time so I wrote the check to cover a estimated five payments. Several weeks later I still have had no response from Capital One Auto Financing and I still have not received a invoice however a repossession company showed up in my driveway at 9:30 pm to take the car. The individual who repossessed my vehicle provided me with the phone number, my account number, and the address of Capital One Auto Financing (different from the address provided by the dealership). He gave me time to make the call to Capital One Auto Financing at which time I was told that they would NOT accept a bank transfer to bring me up to date.
The representative also stated that my account showed no attempts to contact me except on the 11th five days before when my 13 year old daughter answered and told them I was at work. He then stated that I had to let the car be repossessed and gave me a different number to call the next day. The following day I complied with a unrealistic set of instructions which included procurement of sending a money wire and waiting hours for it to be received by Capital One. Every phone call was handled by a different representative eight in all. When finally it was completed I was informed that an additional fee was to be added to the end of my loan to cover costs of the repossession. My car was finally cleared to be released back to me and I was told I may go pick it up. The lot that had my vehicle was nearly two hours away and also charged me fees ($120.00).
As of this date September 13 I have yet to receive a invoice from Capital One Auto Financing. I did receive a certified letter on September 1st dated August 17th that my vehicle would be repossessed for nonpayment of the loan on August 15th. Today I called Capital One Auto Financing and was told that I owed a payment from August 28th. This payment I was told was included in the amount I had paid to get my car back. I paid by electronic transfer both August and September's payment. After completion I inquired as to why I am not receiving invoices the representative hung up on me. I highly recommend anyone avoid this company. I am extremely dissatisfied.

If you can help it, do not finance your car with Capital One. I have credit cards, investment account and a vehicle loan with this company. A few weeks ago, I went to inquire about my payments. I saw that there was an additional payment now due. Mind you, I have NEVER missed 1 car payment. After wasting my time for more 3 hours, no one at this company could really explain to me why the payments reflect this way in their system. I am very stringent about my credit and keep a daily watch over it. My credit reports are reflecting current and no past dues, yet with Capital One they are billing 1 month ahead. In any case, I will be paying off my loan as soon as financially possible and will not finance another vehicle with them.

I have paid an additional 25 payments on my auto loan which now has less than 2 payments remaining. The loan was set to mature in September, 2018 - it will be paid off in August 2016. More than 2 years ahead of schedule, and what do these incompetent bozos at Capital One due, assess me a late charge and then report me as delinquent, when in reality I am more than 750 days paid ahead. The late charges I have waived every time, but to try and talk to these people it boggles the mind, I get a supervisor who tells me I am behind, if I tell them look at the balance and the maturity date, putting those two together is just too much for their little minds.
Instead, I now say look at the number of additional payments and then I hear "Oh, you're not late, I will waive the charge." I seem to have to deal with this every couple of months, it is absurd. I have filed a complaint with the Pa Banking Commission, my patience has worn out with these poorly trained customer service people. When you're reported late and paid more than 2 years in advance, it just is mind boggling. I can assure you, that I will never deal with Capital One auto again in my life. Just pathetic.

This company has some serious issues. My background and current profession is Human Resources. So I'm not just ranting because I only speak up and provide reviews when I think it would be helpful to others. These people do not document your account and each time you call you have to be transferred to several different departments before you actually get someone that is professional.
God forbid that you schedule a payment arrangement by calling them. They will not document the call and then you will receive a call implying that you are late or missed your payment. The calls are not recorded. If so there is no way that the CSRs and collections rep would still have the nerve to be unprofessional rude. You can get a balance from them or any paperwork outlining how your payments are being applied. This is worst customer service I have ever experienced. There has to be some attorney out there that would be willing to look into the business practices of this company!

I have paid on the account since 2012 and the balance is currently reported at about $15,000 after over 4 years. I noticed when reviewing my account that they are applying about 50% of my payments towards interest despite the fact that my interest rate is about 12%! For instance, when making a $600 payment; the report says that about $300 is applied to principal and $300 applied to interest!
This practice has gone on for as far back as I am able to view online. There is absolutely no way that this is accurate! They have also reportedly lowered and raised the balance after credit disputes. Their practices are absolutely dishonest and I will be contacting an attorney for review in the next week. I am greatly disturbed by this company and its practices. I was too busy to notice but I'm no longer in the dark! Please pay close attention to your statements if you have an auto financing account.

I have been disputing this over and over again with the credit Bureaus, and they keep standing along side with Capital One. Where are my rights? Why wasn't I notified and given the option to even get my vehicle back. Nevertheless I lost all personal belongings because they refuse to tell me where they brought my vehicle. Incompetent personnel and very difficult to deal with, they have no interest in resolving matters pertaining to their customers. I strongly believe the bank is designed to destroy people's credit instead of helping them to get better. They reported my account as 30-60 days late to the credit bureaus as a result of a miscommunication between me and one of the representative which drop my credit rating 140 points. I spoke to several supervisors in an effort to resolve the problem, no seems interested. The same narrative is what I get from the management repeatedly. "After reviewing your conversation with the rep there is nothing we can do."
I decided to post this and raise awareness to anybody who is thinking of doing Business with this organization. They really don't care about their customers, everything is computer generated. If you are screw with no fault of your own they don't care as long as they are receiving their payments. Since I have been keeping up with the agreed amount never being late. I prefer to call my payments in over the phone, and I'm always sure to ask to present rep for how much my payoff, and current outstanding balance, and when is the last payment due. I was told each month from the two years that my car will be paid off entirely by this year March of 2016.
Now all of sudden today I call to do my usual payment, and I'm told I have two more years to pay off this 2007 Toyota Camry. Even with the help of the hardship there is no possible way that this is correct. When I spoke with the first rep today she gave me a different amount for the payoff, then I was switched with another sloth who tells me that my payoff is 1,000.00 higher than before.
First of all the customer service is very poor and I was talked down to the whole conversation. This isn't one of those "I forgot to make my payment" posts. Nope, I am a super responsible person who pays everything way ahead of time. I got my loan in 2011, I made 4 payments over a couple months to give myself a little leeway in case I lost my job. So for 3 years, I was always 3-4 months ahead in my payments. I always pay way more than the minimum so you'd think I'd be one of their best customers, right? Nope. I get a bill and my payment is all of a sudden due in 2 weeks. I call and they tell me they don't allow 3-4 months leeway anymore. I'm absolutely furious and the guy says "best I can do is give you a month leeway." So he sets it up so I at least have a month advance instead of 2 weeks.
A couple months later, this is gone and I'm back two 2 weeks due. I call and they tell me "too bad, we don't do it any other way anymore." So they treat their best customers like scumbags. A couple months later I made my payment too early. So I get another bill for the SAME MONTH. I'm trying to tell the moron on the phone I already paid for the month but she's insistent I did not. I cannot get the nitwit to look up my account and see I've already made the payment so now I've got to make 2 PAYMENTS IN ONE MONTH!!! Now I get bills where the payment is due in 9 days. 9 DAYS! I can't even get a 2 week due date. Can you believe these people? ** these scumbags.
Luckily my car is paid off a year in advance. I've got the word out to many people so far and I hope to continue to get the word out and cost these POS's business. Forget about all the reviews you see here from people who complain about "I sent my payment in but they never got it" stuff. Then I called and changed the account number to come out of a savings account so that it would be taken every month and no questions ask. The problem is that as of today, they have failed to take the last 3 payments out. How did I find this out? They called my husband at work and told him that they were starting repo paperwork and wanted to know where the car was at. The money is in the account, they just never took it.
I called and spoke to an operator and verified the account information and it is the correct account, but they didn't take it through the auto draft. It seems that they just forgot. I ask to speak to a supervisor and was told to hold on. She comes back to the phone and says that they received an email this morning that they were in a meeting until 2:30pm so I could leave a message or call back. So I ask her if you knew they were in a meeting then why did you have me hold on and she said to see if they were available. They are not available because you said that you got an email and they were in a meeting so you lied to me. She responds by saying, "I didn't lie." Really, that is lying. I can make the payment, but that is not the point.
The point is that it should have never been late or in a repo status because it was set up on auto draft since the day it was bought. If we could, I would tell them to stick up their butts and go on, but I can't. It is not fair to those who pay their bills and not late and set up payments through their account and then have the company just fail to do their part and do the draft. I will call back, but I don't expect to get anyone to talk to me. I WILL NEVER USE THIS COMPANY AGAIN AND I SUGGEST THAT NO ONE ELSE DOES EITHER. They are a rip off and do not do their part.

The next day after closing on my son's car, (which I paid cash for) the dealer mentioned he had a truck I might be interested in. Long story short I decided to trade my car and purchase the truck; a 2006 Ford F150 4X4 which was priced at 12000.00. In November of that year (2010) while on my way home I apparently hit a patch of ice and lost control hitting a tree which totaled the truck.
My insurance had lapsed just days prior to that so I was left with the loss and like most typical finance companies who claim they'll work with you...yea right, on their terms. Bottom line, to this day, even though they've supposedly written the loan off as a loss they're continuing to show it as a delinquent account on my credit report all while continuing to charge me compounded interest. I suppose came up with 894.00 by Dec 18, 2015 to find it was only good faith payment. The Dodge Dart book value is only 8,000.00 with broken mirror on passenger side which was broke when I got it. I had got bad scratch on car on driver side. I got a balance of 18,9999.00. on my credit so how I'm going start fresh?
I bank with Capital One, have for years. I use have joint account. I went back to single account. I had a savings as well. I get nothing. I'm out of money. The Dodge Dart been in Baton Rouge since Nov.10,2015. Why I couldn't get my things out my car like all other customers. I felt like I was just number. I had supervisor just hang up on me telling owe you get this money, just in good faith, no guarantees. If my load remodified, be able to keep my car. I would have pay all fee at Auction in Baton Rouge as well. I deserve my money back. I think they should dismiss my debt, it's their fault, I wrote, I called, all I got was stories, I'm walking. I'm single mom, it hard to get around. I started new job as well. I need some clear answers.

ANOTHER TIME MY CAR IS GONE! Yet again, this company has screwed me over! They cancelled my Direct Pay and took my car, so I have to try to get my car back out of wherever they are holding it. Called the "customer service" and the person I spoke with is giving me information about how they could not find payments. This is the second time I have had to deal with this issue! HORRIBLE car loan company! Run for the hills if a car dealership tells you they approved you with Capital One.

In the past 12 months my husband and I went from NO loan debt to two car loans totaling almost $900 since both of our cars broke last year. We had some serious credit issues for a few years there so we had been avoiding requesting any kind of credit for a long time and slowly chipping away at our debt but we really didn't think we'd be able to replace my truck (the first vehicle that bit the dust). We went to Car Max and found a 2011 Nissan Frontier for $17,000. 11K miles, right color, perfect. We figured that all we could do was try, and my husband actually got approved for the whole amount with no down payment! Sure, the interest rate was kind of high (11%) but we could afford the payment, so we signed on.
I've had that truck a year now and through making on time payments, it increased his score enough that we were able to finance a second vehicle when his car broke 6 months later. We also went through a recent period where I resigned from my job and took one that didn't pay as well and my husband got laid off. We did not miss any payments, though. We took out 2 credit cards through cap one too and kept the balances down and now our previously mid-500's credit scores are near 700 (his) and 650 (mine, and I still have a lot of junk to clean up on mine). Also I love their app. I just pay the car payments and cards from my phone. Bottom line: capital one will help you if you have bad credit, but make sure you pay on time and you will have zero issues.

I purchased a 2001 Hummer 3 for 28,0000.00 on a 60 month term. So began 9/2011. I was laid off my job in May of 2013, so I did a loan modification with them, dropped my payment from 479.00 to 385.00. I had a very difficult time making the payments with no income, but I did make the payments, some late but made. Then in Aug of 2015 I could make them anymore. So I fell 4 months behind. But was hired in a full time position and told them I would pay them 600.00 for two months to catch up. Keep in mind I only owe 5400.00 from a 28,000.00 dollar loan and have about 11,000.00 in equity in the vehicle.
I had a gut feeling they were going to repo. Anyways it's called GREED... So against the HOAs demands, I parked my vehicle horizontal in my carport instead of vertical. The tow truck guy showed up and could not tow the HUMMER. As soon as he left I took my car and put in a garage. I want to pay the balance I owe but will not give them a cent until I have something in writing from them. I have the leverage. If anything, I will part the entire vehicle out piece by piece. I have dealt with greedy businesses for many years and this time I will not be taken by them. I have asked a local news station to help me with the arrangements. There is nothing good to say about Capital One 360. But I won this time.

I've read the other comments on here and I am surprised that Capital One has gotten away with this for so long. I became ill with a kidney issue back in April of 2014 which threw me a little behind because I couldn't work. I called customer service and let them know and also that I would be changing jobs because of my illness and my new pay cycle would be every two weeks. They told me that was fine. As long as I keep in contact with them and communicated with them it would not be a issue. So then they started to push this arrangement where they waive fees and they pushed my payment that I was behind to the end of my contract which I would not accept. I can change it to make payments there has never been of the 20-30 days, 90 days whatever where they didn't receive a payment from me.
So I'm home July 13th of 2015 about 10 o'clock at night and the tow truck guy, the repossession guy pulled up in my driveway and tells me he's here to repossess my vehicle. Now you have to excuse my confusion seeing that I had made a payment and my payment has posted, the tow truck guy said the information he received from Capital One is that I was in repossession. I'll try to contact Capital One auto finance well of course at that time of the night but they were already closed. So I call the next morning which was the 15th if I'm not mistaken and I speak to Capital One and they are adamant that they were correct and repossessed my vehicle until I tell them to look for the payment that I made.
I swear to god these people at this finance company that deals specifically with money told me that they didn't see the payment before they sent out the order to have my vehicle repossessed. After double checking when it posted and have any send information from my bank showing when it posted even though they recognize that they had made a mistake they refused to correct. I have never heard of a finance company a bank not being able to see a payment that is directly deposited into their account there is so much documentation that this went on back and forth between myself and Capital One for the better part of a week.
There was a young lady in a department who actually went back and listen to the phone calls between myself and customer service, read the emails between myself and customer service apologize profusely and did everything in her power to get Capital One to rectify the situation but they stood adamant and refuse to correct the situation. Not only were they wrong, they then took my vehicle to hurry, and get rid of I guess the evidence or to make things move faster on their behalf so they can try to collect monies for me. They sold my truck within 2 weeks I think at an auction for $1,500 and sent me a bill for 10,000!!! Man, normally this type of stuff goes through a court system and I have to show up and prove my side in front of a judge. But because Capital One knows what they did was wrong they turned it over to a collection agency to fly under the radar.
So this is me exposing their slimy behavior. At least in our interaction and I agree with one guy on here who said he would never deal with these crooks again. I will stick to the old way of doing things. I will buy my car, cash. I will never finance another car. I now officially grasp everything that was a huge issue with big banks I wish they had let them fail and I think America would have been better off for it!! They are crooks. They are leeches and they will use any excuse and any methods to separate you from your money or to put you in a situation where you end up owing them for the rest of your life.
With this amount of complaints against Capital One and I'm sure we're just all only a few that have reported it to a Consumer Affairs there should be a class action lawsuit against this company. I am very sure if there's any investigation from state to state there are hundreds if not thousands of cases where they have done this and got away with it.

There is always enough money to cover my payment, yet I am always told that the account has non-sufficient funds. When I go to my bank and get a printout, it never shows that the payment was never ran through my account, so yes I have proof that Capital One is trying to cheat their customers by making every payment late so they can collect late fees from everyone. I should charge them $15 dollars for the inconvenience in paying the auto loan. I have tried to send in my bank account information that they had send me through a secured site and still to reply to the secure site kicks out all links dealing with the transaction. I have sent this information several times and even sent an e-mail through yahoo mail and still no response. We had a Capital One auto loan. My husband and I were involved in a terrible accident where the other party was at fault. The car was totaled. The insurance covered the appropriate portion and GAP covered some of the amount but capital one sent us a bill claiming that we owed more money. When I called for an explanation on these phantom charges I was given the run around. Fed up, I authorized them to speak with my husband further on the matter as we did not intend to pay this extra money without a detailed breakdown of these charges. GAP claimed it was not their responsibility but that it was all on capital one.
We received no further notices and despite my husband leaving several messages, no one would respond to us. The next thing I know we are receiving a collection notice in the mail claiming we now owe 80% more! No one will tell us what these charges are for. We will be fighting this and taking it to court. Capital one has been nothing but a disappointment and headache. I feel like I am being scammed and their customer service is questionable at best. Since then we have cancelled all of the credit cards that we have had in good standing with them. I refuse to do business with them ever again.

I have a part time job and trying to make ends meet. Now to get the car back I have to pay almost double the amount I originally owed.
For a financial institutions they lack people skills and professionalism. I was hang up on when I asked the first clerk what do I have to pay extra when I only 1,100. I called back and someone else answered and said I owed 1,800 and when I asked he said that is bc I didn't pay for 3 months. When i have proof that I paid 1100 on November 13, 2014 for 100 owed in sept. 500 for October and 500 for November.
So now for a fact I know I owe 1,000 for 2 months not 1800. Capital one Auto finance is a scam. They don't work with people and a money hungry institutions. The people is very unfriendly and corporative. They act like they have to make a certain quota and if they don't they will do anything. I had my auto loan with Capital One for over 2 years, at first was easy to make online payments. I made payment plus extra to principal every month. No problems - was just going to keep my loan with them. But then they "Upgrade" their website to the unusable mess called "Capitalone360" that I can't log into anymore. It doesn’t let me create a new account. I’m on the phone for an hour, and the person helping me hasn’t seen those error messages and puts in a request to fix it. Say they will call back when it’s fixed. No one ever calls, so I call back - for 3 months and they still can’t fix it.
For the last 3 months I could only make payments over the phone after 20 minutes of transferring and being on hold, until I could finally talk to the correct person to make a payment. Tried multiple times to file a complaint against their overpaid/incompetent I.T. department, but they really don’t have any way to take customer complaints, except writing a letter to a snail-mail address. I decide this is not worth the hassle, so I call my credit union, and transferred my loan over to them, even get a lower interest rate. They lost me as a customer and any possible future business as well - no matter how good their terms seem - just too hard to do online banking with them now. I recommend to find some other bank/credit union - do NOT do business with them.

Capital One changed their website three months ago and I've had nothing but trouble. The first time it would not let me set up an account and was pulling some else's login name when I attempted to log in. Subsequent attempts failed and when I called someone I had to jump through 10 minutes of automated responses before I could talk to a real person. This individual told me that the website update required new credentials to be entered because in their magnificent planning and roll out they neglected to build a system that would pull from the information that was previously entered. After spending an hour on the phone and getting set up on the "new" website I made my payment. Month two rolls around and I submit my payment which lists in their system under the "Payments" section.
I begin receiving harassing phone calls and late notices despite the fact that I was paying $600 toward a $530 car payment. When I called I had to jump through the required 15 minutes of automated attendants to finally speak with a foreign outsource group (and you know what country I'm talking about) named "Joe". "Joe" listened patiently while I yelled at him about this horrible service and told me that the information I had entered for my bank was incorrect and their system refused the payment. I told him I was not going to provide that information again as I had already done it twice. Apparently Joe had some sort of divine intervention and was able to miraculously submit my payment despite the fact that I provided him with NO new information. Turns out the information they had on file WAS correct and the payment went through after all.
Now I'm on month three and having to go back through this same process. Basically this is what appears to be happening: 1.) They "receive" your payment in their automated system and it shows in your payment history. When you call their automated system it says that they've received your last payment of x dollars. 2.) In reality they did not post your payment and stated that it was "refused" by the bank. This is not readily obvious unless you're watching your bank statement for the payment to hit so they end up charging you a late fee and blame it on the bank.
This is a SCAM. They are claiming plausible deniability and racking up on late fees even though the customer is making their payments on time. I have other accounts with them and will be transferring them after the first of the year. I would highly recommend staying away from Capital One for any auto financing. They are a bunch of crooks.

I apparently "applied" for an auto loan with this shady company. They pulled a HARD INQUIRY on my credit report without my explicit authorization which damages my credit score. To put salt in the wound, out of all the other financing companies theirs was the highest APR at 4.5%, so it was a complete waste of time and hurt me in the process! Thank you very much Capital One Auto Finance! I got conned as I was looking around for used car loan interest rates on Lendingtree. I did not apply for a loan with a specific lender. I didn't even know which lenders would respond with offers! In short, I will never do any business with this company in the future. Ever!
Lendingtree deliberately and deceptively hides important consumer disclosures regarding it's practices and it's lenders' loan generation practices during what is presented to consumers as easy, no obligation, no frills "get free loan offers." They employ what is known as "Dark Patterns" design. A Dark Pattern is a type of user interface that appears to have been carefully crafted to trick users into doing things, such as buying insurance with their purchase or signing up for recurring bills.
Their sequential form to get "free loan OFFERS" hides the terms and consequences cleverly and deceptively, a form a con-artistry (see attached screenshots). I challenge anyone, especially someone with a less than perfect vision to see the deliberately dark almost invisible links at the bottom of the form. Even at the final step, before submitting all personal, sensitive information to get the "offers" which they will change to an "application for a loan" after one submitted the request for an offer the "terms" links and descriptive text are deliberately small making it hard to read and someone would easily miss it. It is designed that way. Capital One Auto Finance is in bed with Lendingtree and their deceptive practices. They should be ashamed of themselves. They're conspiring indeliberate deceptive con-artistry. STAY AWAY.

They said I could not pay extra using the debit card but just the amount owed. A week after the payment they started calling saying that there was a amount of $125 owed. The reason was that they had put that amount towards principal and that I still owed $ 125 towards the loan. My response was why should I pay you $125 for your screw up. I asked for proof that they had put $125 towards principal. They still have not sent the proof.
At this point I went to my local bank and refinance the loan and paid off Capital One. Today 06/16/2014 they called and wanted their $125. I informed that the loan had been refinanced on 06/09/2014. They said they had no record of it and still wanted the $125. At that point I hung up. The man on the phone sounded like he is in India. Good outsourcing. The other problem was the auto insurance. It also stated that "it is not too late to fix this situation". So the next day, Friday, January 20, 2012, after I return home from work. A tow truck arrives in my driveway and drives off with my vehicle. So after giving a chase, to stop him to ask him why, and to retrieve my belongings. I tried to explain to the repo man that I had just received the letter yesterday. He said for me to contact Capital One, he is just doing his job in so many words, and he didn't care. So I turned over the keys after removing most of my belongings, and he drove off.
So on to my dilemma, I contacted Capital One. I explained to them that I knew I was a payment behind, and that my payment wasn't due until January 26, 2012, and that I was planning on paying the balance then. They in turn said to me that "they did not want to reinstate the loan", and that I would have to pay the full balance of the loan. I was floored, being that I only had 6 more payments left on the loan, and they weren't willing to work with me. So after finding out the amount of money they wanted (full balance, repo fees, etc.) they told me that I had 10 days, and that my vehicle would be at the recovery yard. After a brief conversation with the Loss Mitigation rep, I asked why they would send a notice out to me saying "it's not too late to fix this matter", but they gave me no time to fix the matter. Also they didn't want to accept my late payment and full payment before the 26th, which is when the payment was due.
The rep had no answer for me and ended the conversation by hanging up on me. When I called back she said she apologizes, and that I just need to turn over the vehicle. I explained that was already done. She then tells me that I should receive a letter, telling me what I need to do to get my vehicle back. But she had already told me that I needed to pay the full balance, and that I had 10 days. So on that, I ended the call. On that Monday, January 23, 2012, I called back to Capital One to get the information I needed to send them what they wanted (the full balance), and how to make the payment (i.e. bank info, address, etc.). The rep told me the information, and also tells me that if they receive half of the payment, that it will only stay the vehicle going to auction for 7 days past the auction date.
I asked what that date might be. He said "February 2, 2012, and that a half payment would give me until February 9, 2012". He also gave me the phone number to where my vehicle was located, so I could find out the fees I would owe them. That call was ended. I then contacted them. They gave me all the info I needed. There had been more calls back to both these companies on the 24th & 25th, with other questions and concerns. On Thursday, January 26, 2012, I made a full and final payment of the entire balance of the loan, which is what I had told them I was going to do anyway. I called them to confirm that payment was received, and they sent the info to where it needed to be within their company, and told me all the releases were sent, and that I now own my vehicle, and that i could pick it up.
I was so happy for a whole ten minutes, which is what they told me to wait before calling the recovery company to make arrangements, to get what is rightfully mine now. They failed to tell me that they had already sent my vehicle to auction. I didn't find this out, until I was on the phone with the recovery company (on hold for more than 30 minutes), of whom they gave me the number of. I was so devastated when the recovery company told me that they did not have my vehicle, and that Capital One had it sent to auction. I said, "how could this be, when they told me that you (the recovery company) would have it for 10 days". It hasn't even been 6 days, and I wanted some answers. She could only tell me to call Capital One. I did just that!
They had little or no answers for me either, and said that they had all rights to send my vehicle to auction, and that I had to call the auction company to get my vehicle. I said I was not informed of this, and that it wasn't my doing to have to stop the auctioning of my vehicle, and that is their doing because they jumped the gun, in more than one way on this matter. I also told them I wanted what is rightfully mine, and that I was going to consult counsel about this. I still to this day, do not have my vehicle nor my money. I can't sleep or eat. I have to find other means of travel to get to and from work, and other places.
I still have to keep insurance on my vehicle that I can't enjoy. If I knew I was going to be put through this I would have used my money to purchase a different vehicle, and suffer the consequences of the deficiency balance, after they sold it at auction. What should I do now? By the way the balance that I had to pay to them was in excess of $8,000, and I have nothing to show for it.

I have 2 auto loans with Capital One, and until now, have been very happy with them. One of my cars was in an accident, and was declared totaled. My insurance company has been pleasingly prompt, and they mailed the check to Capital One last Wednesday. Today is Tuesday, and the payment hasn't shown up, so I called Capital One, and reached their "total loss" department, where I was informed that it will take 7 to 10 business days to credit to my account. I objected, telling the woman that US Mail only takes 2-3 days maximum.
She then replied that it would have to be rerouted to the total loss department, and that takes up to 10 business days (yes, two weeks). When I asked if they would credit me the loan interest back for the time between when they received it at their payment center, and when they actually credit the account, I was told no, that the interest would continue to accrue, until they input the check into the system. That's nice, Capital One. That's a pretty sneaky way you have set up, to get the extra 2 weeks of interest!

I have set up automatic payment with Capital One Auto Finance. Capital One Auto Finance is to withdraw $625.00 out of my account on the 29th of each month. On Wednesday May 4, 20011, I received a call from the Repo Department of Capital One Auto Finance. Bruce told me that my payment had been return and I need to make a payment now. I informed him that I had been monitoring my account and Capital One Auto Finance has made no attempt to withdraw the automatic payment. I asked him to hold while I called my bank on another line. I had him on my left ear and the bank on the right. I repeated to him what I was told by the customer service representative from BoA, Lynn. She told me she saw no attempt by Capital One Auto Finance to withdraw funds from my account. She did verify the payment I made on May 2, 2011 in the amount of $350.50 to Capital One Auto Finance.
I informed Lynn that Capital One Auto Finance Repo Department is stating that the payment was stopped by the bank. Lynn stated that the activity should be noted whether there was a stop payment or a return payment. Lynn again stated there has been no attempt by Capital One Auto Finance to withdraw the funds. I relayed the information to Bruce, who at this time hanged up on me. I called the number he called me from 800 945-9894. I spoke with Brain and asked for the name of the representative I had just spoken to. Brain said he could not read the name.
I asked for his ID number. Brain then said his name was Bruce. I asked for his superior. Liz identified her self as the manager. After I explained, she said the best she could do was to investigate, but my account would remain in the repo department and my automatic payment are no longer available. I feel this is an attempt to claim that I am not attempting to pay them so they can repossess my vehicle. I have spoken to them everyday when they call. I have explained my situation and I have been diligent to the best of my present abilities to pay them. I bought my truck in 2005 and it was scheduled to be paid off in August, 2011. I fell behind when I lost my job. My account is in the repo department, which adds stress to my already stressful financial situation. It’s another ding on my credit.

Last year I was doubled charged by Capital One Auto Finance the same day for a car payment of $420 equaling $840 on 12/24/09. I filed a complaint with my bank Wescom Credit Union, Los Angeles They charged me 80 bucks for overdrafts because of Capital One's mistake in double charging me for my car loan. The second incident happened on March 14, 2011. I was double charged online $400= $800 to my same Bank Wescom Credit Union. I had to pay again overdraft charges of $60. Capital One has not responded to my complaint. And I have no money in my bank account because of their mistake.
Most companies will call or email if they notice the same double charge within seconds of each other, due to Internet errors. This is the second time and then they stated that it would take 7-10 business days to credit my bank? What do I do about gas, food, children etc.?

I have an auto loan with Capital One. I was unemployed for 18 months and did my best to maintain the payment. I went back to work in June 2010. I was catching everything up when I was told that I could modify my loan through the hardship program since my income was considerably less than when I took out the loan. I was told that I had to let my account go past due and it had to be within a 62 - 85 days. So I did what I was told. Then, I called back and was told that the paperwork would be sent out to me. Needless to say, I never got anything. I called back and was told that I didn't qualify for the hardship modification because I was past the 85 days.
I spoke with a supervisor and was told the same thing. Is it my fault that their representative didn't do his job? I have been doing what they have been telling me for months now. I get into the date range but then still don't qualify. What? Stop all the ** and do what you promised. Now, I am in repossession after waiting and doing what they said. I asked for a payment to be bumped to the end of the loan today, and was told, "Make two payments and we will help you." What? If I had two payments, I wouldn't be asking for help (I just made a payment on February 12).
I have played their way and still got no help. I am at my wits end with this company. I can't get anyone to help resolve this. The bottom line is they give you the run around and still want to repossess the vehicle. Fine, go fish it out of Lake Michigan. I'll file for bankruptcy and never pay you another dime.

It was signed and ready to go and sent to Capital One Auto Finance with Traveler's having sent payment in hand for six days not including the weekend days.
Capital One sat on their hands and sent me a paper to pay the $434.00 balance. On the eve of August 16, 2010, my family went in to a Little Rock Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep dealership, located on South University, in Little Rock, Arkansas. The staff there were great in getting me into a good used vehicle. According to the sales representative who was assisting us, we were approved for a 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible through Capital One Bank Auto Financing Group. We made our down payment, signed all the necessary paperwork, my car was detailed, and I was given the key to the vehicle to drive home, and told to fax in the remaining needed information the next day. I ended up sending the information in 3 days later.
My mother supposedly received a phone call from Capital One (whom was calling to congratulate us on our new purchase), someone other than her answered the phone and stated to the representative that I did not live there. My state-issued driver's license showed the exact same address as did my bank statements for this address (all which were faxed to the dealership and Capital One) -- all information sent in matched the information given to the reps at the dealership and Capital One.
On September 2, 2010 around 1:30 pm, I received a call from the dealership financing representative that the information my mother and I submitted to them was unverifiable and because I am a 1099 employee (self-employed) that the bank would not finance me (after driving the car off of the car lot, having it for 3 weeks, and getting ready to make my first payment), and that I needed to return the car as soon as possible to the dealership.
Who handles business that way? Not only am I humiliated, but distraught and very emotional behind the acts of Capital One Bank and Little Rock Chrysler, Dodge, and Jeep. I've seen and heard of other complaints about this company but I never thought that this would have happened to my family. This is one dealership and financing company that I would advise no one to purchase a vehicle from! Due to a mix up on their part, I am having to purchase another vehicle and my credit score has dropped.

I recently had my car repossessed and I made a deal with Capital One Repo Department that they would waive my late fees and repo fee if I make a payment of $1675.32 to get my car out of repo. I asked for it to be sent to me in writing and I never received it. I later found out, through customer service, that they did not honor their end of the agreement. The late fees still remain. I asked for a two month extension and was given one.
I had to borrow the money to get my car back and I needed an extension to pay back the loan so I could resume my car payments. I have been bluntly lied to. In my last conversation, I was told by a supervisor that someone would be following up with a phone call to resolve this issue. As usual, no phone call. What can I do about this? I have borrowed loans for cars from Capital One, three times previously before this experience. We paid off one car and then needed to buy our son a car. He is living in Florida and is going to college. I borrowed the money from the blank check Capital One auto finance. I made a mistake and put my yearly salary in place of monthly. I understand this mistake. My problem is that they send the approved blank check in the mail. I live in MS. I discussed the blank check with a Capital One employee on Monday, June 7th, the day the check was to arrive at my home in MS. We discussed purchasing the car in Florida and she said it was fine. I get the check and go to Florida.
On Wednesday, June 9th, we purchased a car for our son from a dealer on the Capital One approval list. On Friday, June 11th, Capital One called and told me that I had made the mistake on my application and they had stopped payment on the check. My son already had possession of the car. The dealership had his old car. We had already changed insurance over to the new car. I was due to leave Florida on Saturday. They called me at 2:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon to tell me they stopped payment and I would have to get other means of payment. My problem with this is, I understand I made a mistake but why did they issue a check if there was a problem? I had no idea that I made the mistake and with this being my fourth car loan with them, how could my income, etc. be such a mystery? I feel they made more of a mistake than I did by issuing a pre-approved check. I feel their actions to stop payment on a pre-approved check is fraud.
I had to call and make other arrangements through family members in TN to wire money to my checking account so my son could keep the much-needed car. Capital One already knew my payment history with the other three cars--one being paid off; no bankruptcies and no foreclosures.
I feel that they are the ones who should have caught the application mistake and not issue the check. If they had turned me down for the loan, that would have been fine but they did not. I do not feel a loan company can stop payment on a check they provided, especially two days after it was written.
I received a letter from William of Capital One on June 29th. He stated in the letter that he felt they did nothing wrong and said that they told me to get a co signer. When the young lady called me on that Friday, she told me that they stopped payment on the loan and I would need to find other options because they had stopped payment on that check. She mentioned nothing of a co signer and she said that the check has a stop payment on it. I suffered extreme anxiety, pain and suffering; not to mention having to include other family members in my personal and financial matters.

My husband and I started experiencing financial difficulty during the past year, but continued to pay on our auto loan with Capital One until we fell behind. We maintained contact with them after we received sweet and sappy offers of assistance on our telephone. Upon calling Capital One, we received rude, arrogant and obnoxious employees who would berate you and talk ugly to you as if you committed a crime.
They were deceitful in their practices of luring you into calling them only to demand a payment or they were going to repossess my car. I asked them to wait two more days until my husband got paid and they said, "No" that they were going to come get the car, which was on our son's graduation day. I started crying and said, "What if we're not here?" She said, "Too bad, we will go tell all your neighbors and look for the car." I started crying and hung up the phone.
They continued to call us more than a dozen times in one day; they called my husband's employer, his cell phone, our neighbors, our family members, etc. They were threatening and harassing. I told them to stop calling him since he works on a crane in the river and makes heavy lifts and he cannot be distracted with the telephone ringing constantly. They didn't care. I was able to secure the payment for the month of May 2010 to prevent them from "stealing" our car on our son's graduation.
By June 2010, I was told by Josh at Capital One again to post a payment on June 2, 2010 or they would repossess my car. I told him to wait two more days since my husband was getting paid on that Friday, June 4, 2010. He insisted that I make the payment through ACH debit and to hang up with him and call my bank and have them "suspend" the payment for two days. I agreed to do this and later found out from my bank that they could not suspend a payment that was posted to be taken out that day and apparently Josh used some harsh and deceptive collection efforts to get this payment without considering the consequences to us as the consumer. I immediately cancelled the debit over the Capital One's website and posted 1/2 of the payment since they offered to accept bi-monthly payments. I also posted the balance of the payment to come on on June 15, 2010 as per their offer of assistance.
On June 12, 2010, I received a knock on my door with a tow truck and they came and picked up the car. Then, they sent a letter stating "they" cancelled the ACH debits, which is a lie. I went to my bank and they kept the money and took the car. They have harassed us, our family and lied to us, been deceitful and stolen our car. They are the worst bank in the United States of America.
The people who work for Capital One are liars and engage in unfair and deceptive trade practices all the while luring the consumer into some trick to get money only to turn around and take their property. We only had 15 months left on this loan and had every intention of paying it off. If we had known that Capital One was this type of bank, we would never have used them for anything. We hate Capital One and we compare them to British Petroleum. They are the Big Polluters of the banking industry! Shame on Capital One. We are now learning that they have been sued by the Attorney General in West Virginia for their unfair trade practices. We will never use them again. Hindsight is 20/20. Shame on Capital One. I contacted Capital One auto finance bank because my husband had been receiving phone calls from them saying they hadn't received car payment, which was due on the 6th and then after that you still have the 10 days grace period, which is convenient because of our lower budget. So I mailed the money order on 6/8/10 and they said they hadn't received. This happened on Monday, 6/14, and 6/15 and I checked on Tuesday to see if payment had been posted and nothing yet.
When I called, I called the customer service number and spoke to some girl named Nikkie in India. She had a strange accent (which they all do, and big companies like this hire them for their cheap labor). She told me the same, and they had already charged a late fee of $27.54 and asked her if she could waive it, which she did and asked for immediate payment, which I did out of my personal account I had saved online. After payment went through she said all records would be posted and everything would be fine for Monday, 6/21/10.
So I called my sister who works at my personal bank Chase and asked to find out status of the money order I had previously mailed and made to Capital One bank and she said that this check had already been cashed and posted to Bank of America, who are partners or they have their business with. Of course I was so upset, I called again and spoke to a rude Indian girl whom I had trouble understanding. She was not listening and demanded to speak to someone who speaks better English and just kept saying ma'am your account will be credited for Monday, and just wait five business days. Without realizing that payment had been received already and I had paid now twice, she kept giving the round and I was so upset, she hung up on me.
So I called again and spoke to another girl, and she corrected and apologized and was listening and I told her how could they have charged me a late fee if the check had already been cashed and it was not my fault that their business bank B of A hadn't communicated with them. So I told her I wanted my money back and immediately because I don't have money to be putting out there. And of course not, my payments are of $552.42 every month so had to put +1,100 dollars in month. I also asked if they could lower their APR, which is at 21% and they told me that they don't refinance the same owned auto loan. I would have to do this with another bank. Please help. I'm trying to sue them. I want to make justice and at least have them go out of business or government to monitor them.

I explained to the rep that I had lost my job in February and that I was denied my unemployment benefits and would not be able to come up with any money until school started and I received my financial aid money at the end of September. He advised me that unless I made a payment by the 27th of August, my account would be turned over to the repossession department. At that time, I advised him that I would have to let the car go back; and he hounded me about what I was doing and how that would look on my credit. At this time, I also advised him that my car had been impounded and was sitting at Emerald Towing in Spanaway, Washington. He told me they would contact the towing company and make arrangements to pick up the car.
It has now been almost a month, and the only correspondence I have gotten was from the towing company stating that the car would be put up for auction on the 30th of September if it was not picked up. I have contacted Shannon at Emerald Towing, and she informed me that she had been contacted numerous times by Capital One about the car and told her they would be picking it up as a repossession.
I contacted Capital One many times on September 21 (yesterday) about the situation at hand. The first rep whom I talked to sent me to another rep who he informed me would be able to better help me. At the time he transferred me, it went to a voice mail box; and I left a message and asked to be called back. I waited a few hours and did not receive a call back. So, I called Capital One Auto back and asked to talk to a supervisor, at which time, I was advised they were all in meetings and asked to call back.
I waited a while longer, called back, and talked to a rep named Charles in the repossession department who was rude and was giving me a runaround, at which point, I again asked for a supervisor. He placed me on hold for a few minutes. Once he came back, he advised me of what his supervisor told him. I asked Charles to speak to his supervisor myself, and he told me he already talked to them and refused to let me talk to the supervisor. I asked Charles if he could email me copies of the notes on my account, and he told me he could not do that either.
I have been advised that my car was going to be picked up from the address provided to them, and as to date, nothing has been done and I have not received any correspondence from anyone at Capital One on this urgent matter! If I as a customer who is trying to deal with an urgent matter gets a runaround from this company every time I call, it makes me wonder how many other customers have the same problem! I would expect to be contacted in a timely manner in this urgent situation! Thank you.

I have an auto loan with Capital One. I got behind on my payments and finally came to an agreement with Capital One to be placed on a special payment program, which would get me caught up. I was told that it was a "double extension/start over" program. I was set up for automatic withdrawal from my checking account for 4 payments in the amount of $282.86. I was to sign and send in an agreement along with a check for $25 for processing. I complied with all requirements.
In July 2008, when the 4th payment was taken from my account, I was notified by Capital One that I was behind in my payments. I called the customer service department and after being passed around to several individuals in the department, I was told that I defaulted on the program and they had not received my signed agreement and the check for $25.00. They told me that the only thing they could do to help me get the situation resolved was to put me on a "single extension program" and my payments would be approximately $475.00/month. This was more than my regular payment of $377.15 and I could not afford the additional money. I was told that if I made my regular monthly payment, I wouldn't get caught up. However, it would keep me from getting the car repossessed. Last week on August 26, my car was repossessed.

We purchased a 2003 Avalanche in November 2005. We were told by the dealership, Crain Ford in Little Rock, AR that if we made our payments for a year without missing one that our outrageous interest rate of 17.55% would be refinanced by Capital One. That was the first lie. Capital One does not refinance their own auto loans. Now fast forward to the present. We have made all of our payments on time every month since 2005. We have only made two extensions in all this time. We are in a financial crunch, along with everyone else, and asked for an extension. We have some problems that have come up and needed the money. I know that is not their problem, but with all the good credit I have built up by making all my payments on time, I thought that I would get some help. But no.
I have called and e-mailed repeatedly. The same response "We are sorry, but at this time we are unable to help you." This is based on the length of the loan (since 2005), payment late (none) and payments (none). I think I am being discriminated against. I was told that if I did not make my payment that I would get called several times a day and that my credit would be messed up. I told them I did not care about the credit rating any longer. I am an American taxpayer that has helped bail out all these banks and this is the respect I get! I think since this was the brain child (the bail outs) of the president, then he should spend some of the billions and trillions of dollars he has wasted on this and send it to the people that really matter, us, the United States tax payers.

I made my first extra payment on my car loan of $100, indicating on the check and the note attached to credit toward my principal. When I checked my account, it had been credited towards the interest. When I emailed, I received an answer back that they would not credit because I did not call them in advance. I advised them that when I received the loan and called in regarding this procedure, I was directed that because my payment is automatically deducted, to send it separately marking my check or money order and indicating principal payment, which I did. I asked them to move the payment over to the principal, and they refused. They will not return my payment. I would never pay extra on interest, and I informed them of that. Then I was told by someone to send in a copy of my bank statement. I told them the check has been cashed and credited and I will send them proof of that only. They told me my claim would be denied. This is a rip-off for the consumer, who is trying to decrease their interest. Please inform me as to how I can get this matter resolved.

The two side mirrors of my car were stolen. I had to make the repair payment from my pocket. My insurance company, Progressive, issued a check in both Capital One Bank's name and my name. I went to the bank's branch on Seagirt Boulevard for an endorsement but the manager on duty said they did not transact such business in that bank and instead referred me to the one on Mott Avenue.
I went to the one on Broadway street in Manhattan. The staff I met said that she had to call the auto department. She did and got the person called ** who said that I should endorse the check to to the bank to use it to reduce my car loan. I said she had no right to do that and she threatened that if I did not do as she suggested, the check would be useless to me. I refused, reminding her I had used my money to pay for the repairs and that the money was supposed to be mine.
She refused by stating that it is the bank's policy. I was infuriated by this cold and indifferent treatment from this woman. I got up, left, and placed a call to my insurance company which suggested I ask to see the manager. I did so and on showing the manager the check I used in making the payment and the repair bill from the repair shop, he, without hesitation, signed the check and profusely apologized for the supercilious treatment from the woman named **. Because of the class act by the manager, I had to open a checking account there and then.
I am months ahead in my car payment. I therefore did not see why the contemptuous treatment from the bank. You need to discipline ** and give more training to your staff in these branches that I mentioned here, or else, I will close down the checking account I opened yesterday and will never ever transact business with the bank.

Capital One sent me a statement claiming that my payment wasn't due till 2010 and that $8,000 was applied to my account. My next payment wasn't due until 7/25/2010. I tried to refinance with them so I figured they went on and applied the money to make my payment shorter. So I called and the automated system also said the same thing. So this morning I noticed a call came in from Capital One, I called and they said they made a mistake. I always pay on time especially since the economy has hit the nation. I cleared up a lot of account when I got this gift of a surprise from them. Now it has come back to haunt me. This is a lousy game that they are playing. Can you help? Yes I do have the statement.

I called Capital One Auto to resolve a situation with my bank account. I made a payment on Saturday, May 9, along with about 10 other bill payments. On Monday, I was unsure if I had made that payment so I scheduled another payment in the amount of $325. A couple of minutes later, after reviewing my payment history, I found the payment from Saturday, so I cancelled the Monday payment. Apparently, the cancel button is just for show, as they processed the payment anyways, which put my bank account negative. I called to have them refund the $325 payment and they refused to refund it unless I sent them a bank statement and a letter of disclosure from my bank, and even then, it would take around 10-15 days to receive a check.
I spoke to a supervisor, AJ badge no. **, who told me the same thing and proceeded to laugh at me when I asked for his name and a phone number to the corporate office. He refused to give me a phone number for a corporate office and said that he would not let me speak to anyone else. Afterwards, I sent in my Hardship package to them on February 19, 2009 by US Postal Priority Mail with a Delivery Confirmation receipt and tracking number. I called to check to see if they have received my Hardship package, and they said they have. I asked if I needed to send in anything else at this time, and they replied no.
On March 2, 2009 at 12:45 am, I talked to one of Capital One's Hardship Department reps named Julia to see what was happening with my Hardship package. Then someone named Mathew called me on March 10, 2009 from their Repossession Department and said my Auto was in repossession and I explained to him that it shouldn't be in repossession because I sent in my monthly payments alone with an additional $310 by the request of Julia to get it out of repossession. But he said I needed to send in an additional $97 to get it out of repossession status. I sent it in Western Union and contacted him with the MTCH number.
I've been sending in my monthly payment by Priority Mail because they are not telling me the truth and seem to be stalling and have no intention of giving me a Hardship loan to modify my auto loan which I badly need. I pay $514.98 per month for a Dodge Caliber and I can handle the payments and keep the car if the monthly payments were less than $514.98 a month.
I am a 100 percent disabled Air Force Veteran, and it's a shame to be treated like this by an institution that has to use my hard-earned tax dollars to stay afloat. This is an embarrassment to the country that I serve and to our laws.

My original auto loan was with North Fork Bank, and I had no problems for 4 years. During the last year of my loan was when Capital One took over. My payment is due on the 15th of every month and I have a 15-day grace period. On the 16th of every month, if my payment is not yet received, the phone calls start. A computer calls, during the day while I am at work and I am asked to hold for an operator. I cannot sit on hold at work, but if I do not speak to someone, they will call up to 15 times a day from 8 am to 9:30 pm.
Recently, I underwent major surgery and was in the hospital for an extended period of time. My wife did not receive a statement in the mail, and forgot to mail in the payment. When the phone calls started, she answered and explained that she didn't receive a statement and had forgotten as I was in the hospital. The woman from Capital One, who was a Manager in the Collection Department, told my wife that she is well aware that the payment is due on the 15th regardless of whether she had received a statement. On top of that, she asked my wife that if I was in the hospital, what was wrong with her that she couldn't have mailed the payment.
I understand that it is not their problem what we are facing in our lives. However, a little sympathy, a little common courtesy would have been nice. The comment was completely uncalled for. This manager also told my wife that a statement had, in fact, been mailed and it was not her problem if we had not received it. When my wife asked when the statement was mailed, she only said she did not have that information. They demand to know exactly what day we will mail the check, but cannot tell us when they mailed our statement.
Again, the manager repeated that we are well aware of our payment schedule and we will be charged a late fee on the account. When my wife asked for the woman's name, she was told "Have a nice day," and disconnected.

I recently had my car repossessed on November 5th. I've been dealing with Capital One Auto Finance to get my car back. Working as a freelance makeup artist, I was able to accumulate the $1000.36 that they requested to get the car back. I sent them the payment via MoneyGram on Friday, Nov. 14th. I also sent them the 4 other documents they asked for which were proof of residence, proof of insurance, proof of income, and new references. I have been dealing with numerous operators with their finance company and since I've sent the money, they seem to either not have my documentation, have not received it, can't find it on file. My insurance agent has sent Capital One Auto Finance my documents 3 times on 3 different days because they say that they had not received it.
Last night I spoke with an operator and had sent and complied with all of their requirements, noting that my proof of income was last month's bank statement which showed my deposits from the last month. I recently had the account closed because I did pull out all the money in that account to pay Capital One to get my car back. The operator on the phone told me that everything was fine but again they had not received my insurance documents. She assured me that that was the only document that they needed to release the car.
This morning my insurance agent sent the documents once again. Now when I called Capital One, they finally said, "Yes we do have your insurance documents, but now we need your proof of income." We noticed last night after the representative whom I was on the line with for over 30 minutes cleared me for all the documents, is now not accepting this because the account is closed. It seems every time I comply and have everything set, they can't find a document, want it resent, and now this. I asked to speak with a supervisor and they refused. They said it would take 24 hrs. to get back to me, which is another day with my car at the repo center.
My car is due to be auctioned out by the 25th, so it seems that they're doing it so it gets to that date and then they can gain more money and I'm out of a car. The representatives were very rude, instead of helpful. No one's on the same page when it comes to documentation. They have received over a 1000 dollars from me, and I also just paid for auto insurance. The representative told me I should get a real job and have them write me a letter stating I work there. Extremely inconsiderate employees.

First of all Capital One Auto Finance is full of **. They want their interest no matter how you pay them ahead or month by month. That's the whole deal. I pay them $2000 ahead cause I didn't know if was going to make the payments the next 4 moths. They took the money and apply it to the principal. I only realize this 4 months after when I send them a normal payment. My balance didn't decrease a penny. I paid on time according to the due date shown on their website.
Here is the trick they play on you. For Example your balance is $10,000, your monthly payment is $500.00 let's say, $100 of that is for interest. Your monthly payment is due on January 15. On January 10 you send them the normal payment $500...they received it on time. They take the interest $100 and apply $400 towards your principal... Now your balance is $9,600 ...your due date is now February 15. OK everything is fine at this point.
A few days later you got a bonus on your job and you decided to send $2, 500 to Capital One Auto financing so your balance is less. They receive the payment and MAKE YOU BELIEVE you're PAYING 5 MONTHS AHEAD by changing your DUE DATE to JULY 5. You are make to believe you don't have to pay anything for March, April, May, June...On July 10 you send a normal payment for $500...they receive on time but your balance did not decrease at all?... Guess what... ALL THE MONEY WENT TO PAY INTEREST FOR MARCH APRIL, MAY, JUNE, JULY!! And that folks is how CAPITAL ONE SCREWS PEOPLE. BE AWARE OF THIS TRICK...and pay attention to your payments and how they applied it towards your loan!!! Thank you very much.

I lost the title to my vehicle that I sold two days ago. When I went to get a new title issued at the Department of Motor Vehicles in Louisiana, I was told that there still was a lien on the vehicle. I asked her how I received a copy of the title and had paid the loan of in 2006 if the bank still showed a lien? She gave me a form to take to the bank and told me for them to fax a lien release document to them in order to get a new title.
When I went to the bank, I was greeted by one employee immediately. I told her my situation when suddenly the woman sitting in the nearest cubicle shouted out "it will take two weeks to get that sent out". I said "no, I need to speak to someone about it". I was then told to see the employee in the next cubicle. I told her my situation and she looked up the loan in her computer. Then she said "it's not even in here anymore". After a few minutes of her doing something on the computer, she said "I can get you the document in three days". The problem is that the person who bought the car is in the Navy and stationed on a base in Mississippi. He cannot bring the car on the base without the title. He did so with a copy of the title which I signed and gave him, but his superior officer started threatening him and told him he could face serious consequences for not having the title.
So, today I went to the main branch of Capital One in my town. I told the customer service rep that I needed to talk to the manager and she insisted on helping me first. So she told me that Capital One Auto Loans was a completely different division of the corporation and she had to call the New Orleans Louisiana branch. She called and the person told her there was no lien on the vehicle and that they would send the document in three days. I said "no, the buyer needs it today" and explained his situation. Then she went and got the manager. When she arrived she immediately told me that there was a lien on the car because I had lost the title. I said this is insane. She just told me there wasn't a lien. The manager kept stating that the fault was on me because I lost the title and that's why it showed a lien.
I am totally fed up and disgusted with this corporation and it's incompetent employees. Also, the manager is a bold face liar. I talked to my friend who works as a paralegal for a local attorney and we are going to see what we can do to straighten out the people at Capital One Bank. Basically I find the $15 Overnight Fee to be unethical on their loan application form. The last option asks 'how you would like the blank check delivered' and the button to submit the whole form simply says submit application. Capital One will then automatically send and charge you for the check shipped IF you are approved without even giving you your loan details. In other words by clicking submit application you will be billed even if you though haven't received your loan approval status or terms. Maybe this is not illegal, but it is at least misleading and uncommon to be billed upon submitting an application.

In preparing for a recent move one of the things we did was apply for a 1 month deferment on our auto loan payment. We sent in the appropriate form and paid the fee by phone. Three months later we received a notice of late payment. We checked and our payment had processed. After contacting Capital One we found the late was for the deferred payment. They said the bank account number was invalid and the deferment fee didn't process. We were given a confirmation number at the time of payment!?! Since we did a check by phone the invalid account number had to be due to being input incorrectly by the Capital One agent.
At no time during those 3 months did we receive anything from Capital One regarding the late payment. After calling and waiting on customer service we were finally sent to some Resolutions Department. We explained the situation and were told to send in a new form and pay the fee and this would be corrected. We never received the new form. After contacting Customer Service again we were e-mailed a copy of the form. We sent it in with a check to pay the fee. The check cleared and all should have been taken care of. As of this morning I am still receiving my 8am Sunday morning collections call from Capital One.
The current issue keeping this from being cleared up... the form expired. It was dated Dec 28 but I did not receive it via e-mail until Jan 15. That being a minor issue because the major problem is that they are trying to process it as a new deferment and continue to charge late fees and collect on the original one. No matter how many calls we make or how long we stay on hold it makes no difference. Capital One can't seem to get it together and fix their mistake. I'm tired of explaining the situation every time we call and never getting anywhere. It's like starting over at square one every week.
On a side note, even though Capital One was willing to correct the problem it is still being reported on my credit as 120 days late. During the collections call last week we were told Capital One was only requesting that one 30 day late be taken off my credit. So now my credit is suffering due to their mistake. When (or if!) this is all cleared up I will seriously consider refinancing with another company. A major lender like Capital One should have its act together.

Since the onset of my Capital One Auto Loan (March 2005) I have made monthly payments ($587.23) on time, never late. Actually, I've always paid at least 2-3 week prior to the scheduled due date. On 8/27/07, I made the 9/22/07 payment. Then, on 9/25/07, I decided to make an additional payment ($5,000) as a principal only pay-down. I called Capital One Payment Processing Center to verify the correct address for this additional payment. The $5,000 was sent according to their instructions. Since Capital One had ceased to mail out monthly statements to me, I went online to verify the payment had posted to my account. My account reflected the extra $5,000 had been applied to my account as principal only.
On 10/11/07, I made my usual monthly payment ($587.23) due 10/22/07. On 11/16/07, I made my usual monthly payment ($587.23) due 11/22/07. On 11/17/07, I decided to check my account activity online. Assuming that all would be in order, I got the shock of my life. Capital One had reversed the $5,000 pay-down and applied it toward (2) so called past due late payments and the difference was applied as interest. I went to the local Capital One bank seeking an explanation and was told it appeared to be an error but that they could not fix the error. The bank clerk told me it could only be fixed by customer service via the payment processing center which can only be contacted by phone.
Since 11/17/07, I have made numerous calls trying to get my account corrected and have been told a different explanation each time. First, it was a computer error which would be corrected within 2-3 business days. Nothing happened. Then I was told I didn't mail the $5,000 to the correct address which probably caused the confusion but that the error would be fixed within 72 hours. Still, nothing has changed.
All of my payments were made via on-line bill pay through a checking account I have at another bank, I called my bank and they looked into the matter and also found the error to be with Capital One as they had sent in all payments as directed. My checking account reflects the same. My bank contacted Capital One and was told the error had been corrected as of 11/16/07. Of course this was not true as I am still trying to get my account fixed as of date, 12/19/07. I have a print out from Capital One with dates (9/25 through 11/16/07) showing back and forward reversals (debits and credits) of my regular monthly payments including the $5,000 principal pay-down.
Capital One has totally taken advantage of my principal pay-down amount and are now stating they have an extra monthly payment amount floating around which they are trying to figure out where to apply the funds but that my account still shows I have (2) past due amounts. Now, as of date, Capital One has finally told me there are no errors on my account and it stands as shown. This is unbelievable and illegal as my payments have never been late and the $5,000 pay-down is gone with the wind.

In September I refinanced my auto loan with Capital One Auto Finance. I made 2 payments to them in October and November respectively. Nov. 1st my car was repossessed by the previous lien holder claiming they never received a payoff check from C1. C1 transferred me through various depts. and swore up and down they paid off the loan. 1 week later the Operations dept. finally admitted the check was never cashed and they thought the check may have been lost in the mail. Now, no one will call me back and the car is about to be auctioned off. I even asked C1 if they could put my next payment on hold while this is being resolved and they said "no". When my car is finally sold I will be obtaining a lawyer. C1 still has not called the previous bank to try and sort things out.

I just recently applied to refinance my vehicle back in Sept 2007 with Capital One Auto Financing and approved for up to 16062.50. I was sent a check to sign and put the amount owed which I listed 15700.00 and sent the check to my lender who is Center One Financial which received the check and cashed it Sept 26 2007 and the check also bounced the same day. My car payment due date is October 17 2007 and the pay off amount was 15708.28 if received by Oct 8 2007. I was not informed of the bounced check. I received a voicemail from Phil at Capital One at 1:50 PM stating the check has come in for payment but they needed to verify information about Center One and to call as soon as possible and give the reference number ** and call 1-800-478-9905.
I called as soon as I heard the message which I called at 2:15 PM which I had to call several times and be transferred a few times and got a rep by the name Angela who when answered ask for my social and I replied that I have a reference number. And she immediately got rude and ask why I couldn't give my social and what was the problem and who the loan is for. And I really didn't have a problem giving her my social. I thought it was either social or acct number but she freaked out when I said I had a reference number. Well when I gave her my social she wasn't able to find any info on me and that's when she starting asking about why was there a problem, who was the loan for like I was trying to obtain a loan under false information. I asked her if she had a rep number and she said no. So I asked for a supervisor and she said there was none and continued to ask what my problem was, why did I need to take it there for.
The only answers I got from her was that I would have to fax over my Center One acct info and I asked If I could mail it in because I do not have a fax. And she said no I could only fax. I had no other options. So after hanging up with her I got a few other reps and then I got a rep named Romero ** who told me I could call back with my Center One acct number and a number to call for Center One which I did. So then I got a rep named Chancy who took my info and put me on hold to call Center One to verify I had an acct with them and other info. Well then she came back on the line and told me she had verified everything and that was it. I assumed everything was taken care of. Well I waited about 3 weeks and on Oct 23 2007 I called Capital One to see when I would have a payment due and that's when I learned that the check did not cash.
A rep for Capital one told me I can call Center One and they can resubmit the check or Capital One can send me another check to send to Center One. Center One requested for a new check. Capital One over nighted me a check Oct 23 2007 and I sent it priority mail which should have been there by Monday Oct 29 2007 to Center One P O Box but it was sent to the regular payment center and not the payoff department which I did not know made a difference. And when I called Oct 23 to tell Center One I would resend another check they did not say where it should go. I sent the check at the full amount of 16062.50 to Center One on Oct 25 2007. Another reason I thought payment was made is because Center One issued me a refund for an over payment of 32.25 because my payoff on Sept 26 was 15667.25.
Well I asked Center One why I wasn't called about the bounced check and why would they issue my a refund check and they said they wouldn't know if the check would bounce that's why they sent the refund. But the refund was issued Oct 2 2007 and they have said the check bounced Sept 26. Well I called Center One and spoke with reps on Mon, Tues, Weds to see if they received the 2nd check and I was told no. Thurs and Fri I just listened to the automated system and it indicated that a check was not received yet too. Sat I received a call from Center One Delinquent department stating they have not received a payment and demanding me to make a payment then and I try to explain to him how I had resent another check the week before and he kept saying that mail gets lost all the time.
So I stated that maybe the check was there in some department but just not posted yet. And he stated that in the system there was nothing stating that and I said I that's because it's probably there but has not been opened yet. I told the rep I would have to call them back when I got home so I could gather all my information and call Capital One and I would let him know what I would do. So he kept on insisting me to promise and guarantee that when I called back I would make him a payment. And I told him I would not guarantee anything that I would call and let him know what I would do before PM. And he just kept on going on so I hung up on him. Well when I got home after that call I called Capital One and they told the checked had been cashed Oct 31 2007 which was the Weds before.
So I called Center One the next day which was Sun to tell them. And they told me no they do not have anything in the system. I would have to call back Tuesday and maybe it would be in the system. Well I called today several times to check status and they still do not have as being received. And I feel they are not really trying to locate it they just keep telling me to call back. They don't tell what I should be doing to get this issue corrected. Finally I asked a rep if I get a Copy of the cashed check front and back could I fax it to them which I did. The rep told me then that I would have to call tomorrow to see if it has been received and reviewed which I wanted confirmation today that the fax was received in case I call tomorrow. And they say it didn't come thru then I would have to fax it again then wait another day but they didn't even try to do that for me. But I did get from my fax machine that it was a completed transmission.
Then I called Capital One and asked if they could take of the interest that accrued Sept 26 to until now. And I was told from Chancy that Capital One was not responsible. That I was responsible because first I should have called when I sent the check which that was not indicated in the packet when I received the check. It just has it to sign and to be sure to send the lender the request to where to send the title and add the vin. Nothing about calling to verify before I sent the check and nothing about a federal reserve time expiration. And she said also that it was my responsibility because when they called to verify info Oct 4 I didn't get back to them on time. She said it was an hour after they had left me a message and the time frame for approval to cash the check from the federal reserve had expired right after the message was left.
I told her that I called back right away. And I had to go thru several reps and I was having issues with some of them. And she stated that wasn't her fault that I couldn't get thru to them on time and as a matter of fact Chancey was the one who back on Oct 4 was the one who called Center One to verify the info and did not mentioned about the time frame or about resending a new check. All she said was that she verified the info with Center One and since the message left indicated the check came in for payment and I need to just verify some info, I could only assume all was good. I stated they should have verified everything before they sent the check or they should have not sent it to me to send out to be cashed and it is their fault that is bounced and I have this extra interest.
Now Center One says I'm over due and will be sent to the credit report. And also Capital One is saying I owe payment to them also since the check was cashed because they do not opened an acct until the check is cashed. So now my credit is about to be ruined which I have A+ and both companies say I owe them. I have also asked for either companies to call the other and they decline and state it is up to me to get this straightened out. I just keep getting different answers and the run around from both companies. And I have called several times on several occasions to both companies even asking for supervisors and nothing gets done. Please can you assist me Please. Any questions I can be reached at **.
As of today Nov 6 2007 I was told that Center One has been fully funded and that was confirmed with Dana in the refinancing department of Capital One. And neither will accept responsibility of interest owed for Sept 26 2007 until Nov 6 2007 because if it had been paid by Capital One to Center One Financial when they tried to cash on Sept 26 2007 I would not this extra interest to pay. And they should not have sent me the check to send out to the lien holder if it was not going to funded.

In August 2007 I sent a lump sum payment to Capital One Auto Finance to pay some of the balance in advance, which equaled 8 months worth of upcoming payments. At which time I was informed that I would not have another payment due until March 2008 and this information was also stated on their automated system. On October 22,2007 I called and was told that I have a payment due 11/25/2007. After I dispute what I'm being told, the company customer service rep. tells me the payment date has changed because of some 3-month advance payment policy that no one mentioned to me in August and is also nowhere in writing on my original purchase contract.
After several minutes of refusing to accept what this rep. is telling me, she begins to get rude and defending the misinformation she gave me in August and abruptly ends the call. I left a message with her department manager and still have not received a call back. I do intend on sending letters and filing formal complaints until my questions are answered and the rep. I spoke with is properly disciplined IF the company has a POLICY in place for such rude service and misinformation. This company should be called BAIT and SWITCH BANK.

I received a Capital One "Blank Check" for the sale of my auto. The buyer and I went to a local Capital One bank to deposit the check for $13,995 and complete the buyer's auto loan paperwork. The total amount of money was placed into my checking account and I wrote a check for over $8,550 to Capital One Auto Finance to pay off my auto loan. Five days later, I called Capital Auto Finance to see if they had received the check to pay off my loan. They told me the loan was paid off and I would soon receive the auto title.
The next day I checked my bank account to make sure the balance included the profit from the sale of my auto. The bank told me all the money had been taken out of my account by the Capital One Auto Finance Group. I have called Capital One bank and auto finance group to see where my $5,000+ over 10 times. Every time I get a different answer. I have the auto title but no car or money. All this took place on 9/21/07. For the past 3 years we have had an auto loan with North Fork Bank (Zero Interest loan through Suzuki). The loan was current and we never had a late payment. In October we went to the bank to make the final payment. The teller would not take the payment and my wife and I were told that the loan was paid in full according to the banks records. The teller even made two phone calls to confirm this information and the branch manager was on hand for verification. The teller told us we must have made an additional payment during the course of the loan and they negated the final payment. O.K. good news, we left the bank quite satisfied.
Two weeks after our visit to the bank, we received a letter from Capital One - Auto Finance (A company we never dealt with or applied to). It stated that our loan payment was 17 days overdue and it included a $ 121.17 late fee. We immediately went back to North Fork Bank to complain. The same teller and branch manager advised us again that the loan information showed "paid in full" and they had no explanation for the Capital One letter. We tried to contact Capital One but it is impossible to get to a human when using their 800 number.
Since calling them is not a viable option, I simply mailed a letter to them with the $ 269.44 payment. I am demanding that the late fees be removed from the account. I also want to know why the bank had no information about this loan balance transfer and why the bank did not inform us that North Fork & Capital One had merged. We found the information on the web. This is quite a scam and we can only wonder how many other customers will be abused by this questionable business practice.

Capital One sent me a letter stating that the vehicle would go up for auction on September 4th @ 9:00am and I could have bidders present. I called Capital One a week later and after getting a runaround between the repossession dept and the auto auction house, I finally found out they did not sell the vehicle that day.
It took me all day back and forth on the phone with both places to get an answer from them. A manager from Capital One called me to tell me that they had not sold my vehicle on Sept 4th, and they had not put it up for sale on that date (The auction house told me that wasn't even a Capital One auction day). The manager finally told me that the vehicle would be up for sale on Sept 19th @ 9:30am.
Capital One sent me a letter stating that they sold my 1999 Chevy Blazer for only $1600. They state that I owe a balance of $1300. I would like to see documented proof for what they sold the vehicle for. This vehicle had a value of $6000. There is no reason that they should have not gotten close to the value of the vehicle at auction. The vehicle was in great condition. There should be some kind of law in effect to protect the consumer from this type of damage. For all I know, Capital One has sold my vehicle for what it was worth which would have paid off the balance of the loan and they are still harassing me for more money.
I need documented proof of what the vehicle sold for that day. I received their letter about the auction yesterday (10/01/07) which shows their figures of what is still owed after the sale and fees associated with the repossession and sale of the vehicle. Today a collection agency called me to find out what I am going to do about the balance. I informed them that once I receive documented proof of what the sale price of the vehicle was, that I would be more than happy to come to a decision about the balance.
I think we need to have some laws in place which would protect consumers from being scammed by finance companies. When they only have to send a letter to prove the sale price they received and a balance I still owe, that doesn't show me proof. They lied to me once about the sale date of the vehicle, why should I believe they are truthful now about the sale price and what I still owe? We need to have laws in place so finance companies like Capital One cannot sell a vehicle for less than two-thirds the value of the vehicle. Along with that, the consumer should be given a copy of the proof of sale that Capital One received from the auction house. Do we have any laws in effect that can help a consumer in circumstances like this?

I went online and looked up our account. Our last payment was received and posted 3 days before due date. I called, emailed them asking why our account showed this payment due and yet last payment was posted. They said that was payoff amount. I explained we made all our payments. They said this amount, now $450.00 was an added payoff plus late fee because we should have paid this amount with our last payment. I talked with numerous reps and asked how could we know this amount was due. We paid our 60 payments. Where did this other amount of $450.00 added to end of loan come from? Then we get a really nasty letter, demanding the $450.00 or they are coming to get our truck!
Called again Cap. One, they told us to pay this and they would straighten it out and refund our $450.00, but paying this right now would ensure us getting our title to our truck. Well, now we did get our title, but no refund of any amount. They play stupid, and when I demand a written explanation of these charges of $450.00, they say "Look over your payment history we send you". I see nothing on my payment history that says we owe anything except the 60 payments that we made. They refuse to explain this charge, and have not refunded anything. We are very annoyed that we were "blackmailed" into paying $450.00 extra for the title on our truck! Capital One is a ripoff company and I'm sure that I am not the only one they rip off like this! Something needs to be done with Capital One doing this to people!
We are sick and physically drained from trying to make sense with Capital One. We are out $450.00 which we can not afford. Auto dealership provided appraisal to Capital One. Several days later we received another call from Allan at Capital One saying the check would still not be honored. This very same day within two hours we made other arrangements for a loan on the car and wired funds to dealership. We contacted Allan at Capital One within two hours also of his call that day, we informed him of our other arrangements and we would not be using capital one's services and wanted the loan check voided.
At this point in the phone call he told us the check had been paid over a week ago and there was nothing he could do to void the check. In summary, the dealership was paid twice with all the untruths that were told from Allan at Capital One. Dealership wrote us a check to reimburse Capital One's funds at which time we immediately forwarded the dealership's check to Capital One to pay off our loan account with them. At this point in time we are receiving collection letters and past due notices and phone calls from Capital One on an account that shows $0.00. Any phone calls we attempt to Capital One to deal with the matter are transferred on and on and on to different people with no answers given to us. This company has my phone number, which I have had since October 2006, listed on a delinquent account under another person's name. I have repeatedly informed the collectors that I am not the person they are calling for and that this is the wrong phone number. Not only do the collectors refuse to believe me and honor my demand that they stop calling, but I have been yelled at and called a liar. These calls have been recurring for months despite my insistence that I am not the debtor they are looking for. In addition to calling me a liar, yelling at me, laughing at me, threatening to come over to my house, these collectors are also disclosing confidential information about the actual debtors.
They have told me their names, address, and the make, model, and year of the car they threatened to repossess. After the last call, I called them back to further explain my situation and to demand that they stop calling me. The customer service representatives refused to let me speak with a manager or to even transfer me to a manager's voice mail so that I could explain my situation. One of the representatives even hung up on me. On the 9th of February, I start getting calls from their collection division wanting to know when the payment was going to be made!! 4 days late!?! I let him know I did not appreciate being harassed, this payment was not technically late until after the 15th day, that he called me during my business hours, and I did NOT want any other calls again on this account, otherwise I would turn in the car and cancel the loan. I'm going to begin by saying that I'm partly at fault in getting a little behind in my auto payment. It was not due to slacking off on my responsibilities. This was due to financial difficulties including a three month layoff that I was never really able to get caught up on. I eventually filed for and was granted bankruptcy. I am now working very hard to get my credit back into shape. Part of that was to try and keep my vehicle that C-One held the title to. However, money-hungry companies like Capital One find it necessary to lump me into the category with slouches who don't bother to meet their responsibilities.
I attempted on numerous occasions to try and work with C-One to grant me some additional time to meet my monthly responsibilities. They flatly denied my requests, knowing full-well that I was trying to make a good-faith attempt to pay my bills. I did end up behind on a couple of payments and the outrageous amount of fees the government allows these lenders to charge simply added up. I ended up with an $1800 deficit. So instead of working with me to make this up, Capital One flexes its big corporate muscle and repossesses my vehicle.
Again, keep in mind that I had made every good faith attempt to make good on this. C-One refused to consider the individual customer in this case and lumped me into a stereotypical class of defaulters. After selling my vehicle at auction, I am now stuck with a balance of $7300. And don't forget the fees are accruing on that too! Did they want to work with me to make up the much smaller and more manageable amount of $1800? NO! They would rather use the old corporate line and stick it to the customer who is trying to make up for financial difficulties. This is living proof that lenders are all about the lenders and customers are dirt under their feet.
I strongly advise anyone to think twice about using this outfit. Capital One is all about Capital One! Keep reading other complaints on this site. I'm far from being the only one who has been screwed over by this bottom-line driven company. STAY AWAY FROM CAPITAL ONE! THEY ARE ALL ABOUT THEM AND NOT THE CUSTOMER! YOU ARE LITERALLY TAKING THE FUTURE OF YOUR FINANCIAL STABILITY IN YOUR OWN HANDS WHEN SIGNING ON THE LINE WITH THIS CUSTOMER-FRIENDLESS COMPANY. I'm fed up with C-One and will never, as long as I live, give a penny of my business to such a sorry company as Capital One! Lastly, don't tell me that if they did it for me they would have to do it for everyone! The problem is they won't be a good customer service friendly company and help people like me maintain my account.

I get my car payment automatically drafted out of my account since 2003 so I could help my credit. In October of 2005 I called customer service - that's always a challenge to actually get a live person to get my payment deferred. I was told it would be taken care of. I went about my business. Payment was NOT taken out in October. In December I called for another reason and since you have to listen to an automated system first, to my surprise it said my account had a late fee and I was behind a payment. I reached a CSR and she said that the first gentleman did not correctly code my deferment but she would take care of it. I called again to check on it early Jan and it still wasn't. I asked to speak to a supervisor, which was like reaching GOD, it took so long. I had to call back several times, people didn't want to connect me, I got disconnected you name it.
He was semi helpful but it took forever. They do not have direct lines and I estimate I would spend at least 20 minutes on the phone each time. This gentleman, Jamie, said he would send out papers and that I should have been informed that it would cost money and I had to sign a paper to get a deferment. I was not informed by the numerous CSR I spoke with about this. He said he would send the paper and I would need to return it in a certain amount of time. I travel for my job so I told my parents to send my mail to me about a week after it was supposedly sent. They sent my mail and NO PAPER was received. I tried to reach Jamie and I believe it was a good week before I could reach him.
I would leave messages and would not ONCE get a call in return. He said it was too late now to do anything. Needless to say I was upset. Now it's their word against mine. I called again and reached another CSR who was rude (most times they are anyway so that wasn't very unusual) but this time I had enough. I asked for her name so I could report it and she refused to give it to me. I asked to speak to a "live" person and she refused. I asked to speak to her supervisor and she refused. I hung up and called again. This time after the usual wait time of 20 minutes I was put thru to a supervisor. This gentleman listened to what I had to say and basically said, "sorry for your luck."
He said they can't be held responsible for what their CSR tell the consumers...WHY CAN'T THEY??? I work for a corporation and I am held accountable for what I say regarding my work. Every single CSR I talked to said something different so that makes you wonder what kind of training they have. We talked for about 45 minutes, but never got anything resolved. He did say he talked to his boss and his boss said I was in violation and I was indeed late with my payment. All this time the collection dept would call my cell phone (they still do about a week before my payment is taken out) which I use for business also up to 20 times a day starting at 7:45am and ending at 9pm.
I ended up putting those numbers on silent so it would not interrupt my work. Since technically I am never 30 days past due I don't think I am being reported to the credit bureau. I reported them to the Better Business Bureau and Capital One Auto Finance sent me a letter stating they weren't wrong and that the decision stayed. So now I am always a month behind and am accruing interest charges every month. All I wanted was that payment deferred, my late charges/interest rates taken off and not reported to the credit bureaus if it had.

I sent my payoff amount for my vehicle to the company and they have apparently misapplied my payment, and I started receiving collection calls. The check was deposited on March 29, 2006 and cleared my account. The check has the stamp for deposit only to Capital One Auto, so I know they deposited the check. After the 5th phone call to the company to rectify the matter in reference to receiving constant collection calls, I was told on May 2 by Martha ** that they still could not locate my payment and that the collection calls would continue until she could find out something in approximately 2-3 days.
I asked her to have the collection calls stopped immediately because I felt that was harassment and was upsetting me so much at work that I would start shaking. She said that she could not do that because their collection calls are on automatic redial and I would just have to suffer through the situation. I then asked her for the address for the main offices to send a complaint.

I signed up for auto draft for an auto loan I took out in November 2005. In the past, other companies I have dealt with build in a one month delay so there isn't any confusion as to whether you should mail your payment or not. Not Capital One!
I received a letter informing me that the current month's payment was being deducted in the next two days. I had already mailed a check the day before, and it was still in transit. I was running the risk for overdrafting my bank account by having the payment withdrawned twice and Capital One was of no help.
I requested that they disengage the autodraft however the representatives refused to do that. One representative even mocked me. Ultimately, I got a supervisor who hung up on me. Fortunately, I have a friend who worked at my bank who placed a stop payment on the check and was willing to waive the fees.
I refinanced the car in March, got a lower rate, and got to skip my payment for one month. Bye, Bye Capital One!

As a Capital One customer for over 5 years I'm very disappointed and upset with your customer service. I have applied for an auto loan with capital one on February 22, 2006 and was given an outrageous interest rate of 13.5%. As a customer, this is ridiculous to treat me this way. I feel that Capital One forgets about its old clients and has great new offers for the new customer. There is no respect for the old customers. After this experience I feel that I may have to cancel all four of my credit cards with Capital One. My credit cards with Capital One is also ridiculous with its interest rates. I hope that this matter can be resolved, but at this time it's not looking too good. Maybe we can work on Capital One lowering the interest rate on some of my credit cards and the auto loan.

Long story short, I paid off my auto loan and Capital One continued to electronically deduct monthly payments until I stopped service through my bank account. They cashed my pay-off check of $10,127.03 and said that they didn't close my account because they didn't know whose account it was even though a letter was attached. My loan account is now reflecting late payment days and they have said "that they sent a refund check in the mail 23 days ago." Never seen it and why would they refund my pay-off check? No one can answer any of my questions and it is still not settled. They have my money and they are trying to ruin my credit.

We were involved in an accident and our call was deemed as a total loss by our insurance company. My loan/lien were through Capital One Auto Finance and my insurance company sent a check to Capital One for the balance due on the loan via FedEx. As per fedex tracking # they received the check on October 21, 2003. I called them on October 27, 2003 and Lamond stated to call on October 29, 2003 because it takes a week for the payment department to process payments. I have called them since Wednesday and left messages on their voicemail but they do not return calls.
When I asked them to speak to a manager they say that the manager is out today. I spoke to Nye who was going to talk to her manager on October 29, 2003 and have her manager talk to the payment department but never heard back from them. It has been 10 days since my check arrived at their office as per Fedex but they still have not credited my account nor returned any of my calls.

I called Capital One on several occasions to inquire about the specific details on their auto loans. The website looks great but since there is not much information about how they actually determine acceptance of a loan I wanted to know the procedure. My credit score is not very high. I just graduated from college. Have a great job starting in a month from now and I need a car. I even have a summer job that helps me pay my bills on time. I have never had a late payment on any one of my credit cards but I am overextended on my credit.
I explained the above situation to several reps at Capital One Auto Loans on the phone in my research to find out if they were the right company for me. I was told by each and every one of them not to worry because if Capital One could not give me a loan at their regular rates they would transfer me to their custom finance people which is for people with challenged credit. I explained that I had never had any judgments but because of the amount of debt that I have my credit score is low. They reassured me that their custom finance department would be able to help me. After thorough research I applied and was turned by both Capital One and their custom finance department in a matter of an hour. They sent me an e-mail stating that some jumpstart auto could help me but after I went to the site it didn't even have the car that I wanted to buy.

I received a letter in the mail for auto financing from Capital One. I went online to apply. Within a couple days I received an approval letter from Capital One stating the letter was good for 45 days from the approval letter and go to any preferred dealership, bring the letter, a most recent pay stub, and any part of my phone bill. It just has to state any 2 of name, address, and phone number. The first letter was dated 2/17/03. I unfortunately, couldn't find a car that I wanted. So, I re-applied and again I received an approval letter again, and I went to one of the "Preferred Dealerships". May 4, 03 I picked the car that I wanted, gave the approval letter, a most recent pay stub, and part of my phone bill that stated my name and number on it. Wrote a personal check $15,000.00 and Capital One would finance the rest. I drove home with my car.
June 4,03 I get a nasty phone call from the dealer stating Capital One needed more information from me, and if I didn't get that information to them immediately they were going to repo my car. June 4, 03 Capital One supposedly contact Anthony **, finance manager of Toyota of Cerritos, California (where I purchased my car). June 6, 03 the contract was returned to Toyota of Cerritos, California. The reason.... it was missing some stipulations. June 12/03 I talked to Felicia, still said that Capital One was still waiting to hear from Toyota. But, assured me that there was no other information that was needed from me. I did all that was required of me. June 25, 03 I talked to Rick at Capital One and confirmed the same information as Felicia. He was very rude about it though. He wouldn't take the dealer's phone number at all. he just said THEY have to call us.
June 26,03 I talked to Rick again at Capital One and asked for a supervisor or manager. I said it was their policy for me to leave a message on their voice mail and he would call me back within 24 hours, And his name was Joe. Rick refused to give a last name. So, I left a message where he routed me. June 26, 03 later that day I called back and talked to Tom. He explained the same thing also couldn't tell me what was missing. If I wanted to make a formal complaint I would have to write to their corporate offices. June 26,03 I talked to Felicia again, and she stated the same information as before. June 26, 03 I received a phone call back from Melody in the Spanish department where Rick routed me to his supervisor. I explained the situation and she said to have the dealer call her directly at (800-946-0332 ext **).
June 26, 03 I called Richard ** at Toyota and told the information that I had from Capital One which was pretty much nothing but, just a phone number to a nice lady in the Spanish department of Capital One. Richard ** said that Capital One returned the contract because they wanted more information from me. Yet, I asked that several times to Capital One. Richard said Capital One needed a letter from my employer, and 3 more pay stubs. June 26, 03 I talked to Dorothy at Capital One and she said my account or file is closed/cancelled. She didn't even offer to help or offer to re-apply. I asked her if she could do anything... She would rather see me take my business elsewhere? She never responded.

I bought a 1993 Ford Ranger Truck through Capital One Auto Finance 4 years ago and I still owe over $5000!! The payment is $250 per month, and I've paid over the minimum almost every month. They do not take the extra money off the principal, but only off the next month's payment. I've asked them repeatedly to take it off the principal and they say they will but they never do. I'll never get this loan paid off and the truck is 10 years old!!!!
