I will never use or recommend Capital One once this auto loan I have with them is paid off this year. I have been on Auto Pay to have scheduled payments on the loan paid every 2 weeks. YET, they send emails (5 in 1 year) that state I've missed a payment and will be reported to the credit bureau for late payment. They think just because the payments don't fit in their window of due date, that they're late. I made my last payment on 1/10/25, then received an email on 1/17/25 that I missed my 1/15/2025 auto payment. I can't make this stuff up! I've reported them to all 3 credit bureaus for inaccurate and incessant business practices.

Everything runs smoothly until your last recurring payment. You’ll be pulling teeth trying to obtain your title because “in their system they don’t see your last recurring payment” even though it’s withdrawn from your bank. You’ll spend time making calls, having to make an extra trip to your bank to obtain proof and have to pay fax fees to send information. Will be last time I use Capital One Auto Loan. Holding the title hostage due to their system failure.

I used Capital One to finance my Audi Q5 on a six year loan paid by auto payment from my checking account. The first five years and 11 months were great!! I received a letter prior to the final payment draft thanking me for my business. The final payment was taken on the scheduled day in the proper amount. Two days later, the dunning notices started for non-payment. Multiple calls to Customer Service with no results on their mistake in properly allocating the funds to my account. Finally, an email to the Office of the President of Auto Finance resulted in a phone call. They are insisting that they need 30 days to "investigate" their mistake and cannot speak with me in the meantime. The rudeness is utterly amazing when they have already acknowledged that it was their accounting mistake. Never again!!!! I gave one star because there is no option for zero stars!!

The app is great, but if you need to speak with customer service, then you will run into problems. I have auto loan and credit card with them. Had issue with paying off auto loan. No communication between branches, and very unhelpful about any questions I had. Wasted about an hour of my time with 6 different calls. Each call was like starting over. After I pay off credit card, I will never do business with them again.

I do not recommend Capital One. I have an auto loan with Capital One. I moved and have been trying to get my paperwork from them since August 7th to register my car in my new state. It is December 16th. I’ve called every week trying to get the paperwork. Every week I get a different story - none of which is ever their fault. I have requested compensation since I cannot get a permit to park without my new registration and they refuse. It’s been over four months. I should not have to call weekly to get anyone to follow up. I was told today I had to wait another 70 days. 70. Meanwhile I can’t park on my street.

I've got 2 C Cards with them and now an Auto loan. Always used direct payment so there's no problems and never late. 1st payment for auto loan went out as planned on October 25th and I come to find out they say they never got it. It's the same setup as on C Cards and never any problems. Sent them bank statement and still waiting. First they tell me 1 to 2 business days and then 2 to 3. Well now it's 3 to 5 and who knows what it'll be next week. 80% of the people on the phone I can't understand and it's getting worse.

This company reached out to me saying I may be eligible for a lower interest rate, so I checked and they claimed they could lower it by almost 3%... Sounds great right? And yet somehow for the same duration of loan the payment would go up 100$ per month! Makes no sense and yet NO ONE at their company could explain it. A specialist "had to call me" cause no one could explain how that made any sense. Only thing I can figure is they charge so many fees to refinance that it knocks it way up. Don't waste your time or energy 'cause they have no clue and are clearly doing some funny math.

I had moved to a new state and followed all the correct procedures and supplied all needed document, multiple times in order to get my car registered. The title department has yet to send the BMV the correct documents to get me registered. It has been 2 years!!! I have had to call out of shifts at work forcing me to live off credit cards. I nearly lost my job because of this. I have called and begged for them to fix this every month for 2 years. They promise to fix it and nothing happens. Since I had not been able to work all my shifts I fell behind on payments, they threatened to repo, and started reporting negative marks on my credit report. This all happened because of their negligence and incompetence. No apologies and still, no resolution. The worst auto finance company out there. Stay away from them if you can.

Pre qualified thru Capital One Auto Finance. Capital One Auto Finance recommended a certain Auto Dealership. Drove the vehicle for one week and engine issues. Took the vehicle back to the Dealership to fix the vehicle, that was almost three weeks ago. Vehicle still not ready. Dealership got paid for the car from Capitol One Auto Finance already, so they have their money. Now, Capital One Auto Finance is expecting me to pay for a vehicle that I've only driven a week because it's been at the dealership for almost three weeks being repaired. Capital One should do their research before recommending customers to a dealership. I tried contacting Capital One Auto Finance about this issue, but of course NO reply.

This company is a joke. Asked to speak to supervisors and was told one was available. Car was repoed on April 4. Was told I couldn’t get it back until I paid everything up to date. Looked at my account today April 13 and have a 25 day past due amount of 387. When spoke to representative he stated he doesn’t know why but was told because my March payment wasn’t added in the amount I had to pay when they replied it. I told him my calls are recorded so I was told on the 4th I had to pay everything up to date including late fees and repo fee to get my vehicle.
That was on April 4 therefore the March payment should of already been included with that amount as I was told everything had to be paid up to date to get the vehicle. Then he goes in to say well I can push the payment 10 days and set you up with a payment plan and your April payment is on April 19. I’m like, "No let me speak to a supervisor" and he stated there was no supervisor available today. Smh.

Capital One's pre-qualification terms are so convoluted that your actual car buying options are almost zero. They have so many stipulations on year, mileage, dealers, etc that it's just a frustrating experience trying to find anything that jumps through all of their hoops. You are prequalified for a large amount (supposedly) that you will never be able to utilize. I was pre-qualified for up to $57k and, when trying to purchase a car that was only $15-17k, they require that I put down $5-6k?! Make it make sense. You call customer service and get the run around so they are no help at all. Financing through Capital One has been a complete waste of time.

Well my issue was due to some bad luck with jobs I would say more less. I had to made arrangements with Capital One such as partial payments then catching up by end of the end etc. Trust me I was not running from them but I had no money and at the time still had to have a place to stay, food, electricity etc. This is something that I have done with them in the past with a previous car I owned and that was paid in full. One day I called to schedule a payment, by doing this I have never gotten to far behind such as them looking into repo as anything. I got the man on the phone who said, "How about doing an extension program with us?" Like an idiot I agreed. Well I just found out this person made this ** worse because by me doing that it made me further and further behind and lord forbid if you have to make a small adjustment when you are on this so called extension, which is a disaster waiting to happen regardless.
I happen to call them tonight. One guy needed more training so I hung up and got a woman on the phone who said the damn car was up for repossession. I about to fell over in my chair. So luckily we agreed up on a plan to stop it and start fresh but it's a good thing I called. They would have pulled up, got my car and I probably would not have known it was gone. Wow. I am working very hard to get on track asap because I really do not trust these people after that happened. I will keep all my emails for the confirmations, etc. That was a huge scare due to the fact I never had anything repossessed omg. So my advice is if they offer you anything like an extension DO NOT TAKE IT UNLESS YOU NECESSARILY HAVE TO. IT SEEMS LIKE IT'S HELPING BUT IT WILL MAKE IT WORSE. TRUST ME.

I had a Capital One auto loan since 2000, made all my payments on time. I recently switched jobs in during the period of six weeks when I did not a have paycheck I am formed Capital One and I will be late a payment, but they will get their money. I even went as far as setting a payment plan to split one payment into two because I didn’t want to be really far behind. My car was vandalized and deemed a total loss two weeks ago and I need to get another vehicle.
I try to get re-financed through Capital One, which is my carrier at the moment and they denied me because they said that out of 12 consecutive months, I was late one payment… so I’m being crucified by banks because it’s on my credit and being denying me and making it difficult to get a loan. Capital One Auto really disappointed me big time, coming from a loyal customer they had for the past 3 years. They need to revamp their so-called policies and make exceptions. Further loyal customers, who’ve faced hardship, but continue to be trustworthy and responsible with their accounts. Even if you believe the data they’ve posted on my reports, when you deduct the payments they are showing from the original loan amount, the balance is so far off that it makes me wonder if the credit bureaus aren’t being complicit in this lie. My only recourse will be to refinance my car, but with them making me look so delinquent, that’s going to be difficult. Steer clear of this company if you’re shopping around for auto loans.

On Monday I spoke with a Representative #TOL. I informed her my fiance schedule a payment to be withdrawn a day before payday. That I needed to schedule it for Friday to get the account out of the repossession area. She informed me she could not schedule a payment past Thursday and the car could be repossessed at anytime without a verbal contract. I told her I understood that and I was aware I would receive a letter before repossession was assigned. She then informed me if I still have the car by Friday I could make the payment. I told her yes, I will still have the car because it will be in the garage. I then asked if she could put a note on the account that the vehicle will be in a garage. I also informed her I was able to schedule a payment for Friday online even though she stated I could not. I told her I would schedule the payment and call back Friday to make a payment plan.
Fast forward to Friday, I am transferred to the legal dept telling me I am on a recorded line stating the car will not be repossessed at any time and that I will be hiding the car in a garage so that no one could find it. This was the most absurd thing I had ever heard. I couldn't believe my ears! The car was never scheduled for repossession and the entire reason for the call was to schedule the payment to get the car out of the repossession dept. Now I can't even schedule a payment plan. Wow Capital One... Four years later and this is the ** you slap me with.
I can for sure tell you I have no intention on keeping a car hidden for a repossession that was never assigned. As a matter of fact the car is falling to pieces because it was so cheaply put together. I am seriously considering just giving it back and paying cash for a car! We are not talking about a brand new car. It's a 2012! At this point I could not recommend capital one. I have your bank accounts and two credit cards. I am cancelling everything out. By the end of January 2023 I had to change my bank account number. I made the necessary changes on my profile at Capital One but the payment did not go through. I was not notified about this, until I checked my account as usual and saw the situation, plus they were overcharging me late fees and a double payment for been late. I told them I am upset because they must contact me first of all to clarify the situation, not just overcharge and treat me like a delinquent.
Today, Feb 18th, I received a letter from Capital One dated Feb 9 (after I complained to them) letting me know about the rejected payment. If I could give them -5 I would. Don’t ever have a change in income and ask for an extension. I’ve paid faithfully on time for the duration of my loan. Hit financial snags, knew they were coming so started calling before my payment was due for options. I called for 6 weeks, spoke to over 23 different reps, got extremely inconsistent and unreliable answers for options. Did not qualify for extensions no matter how hard I tried.
Mind you, I’ve had to call a total of 87 times in those 6 weeks. Every other person I connect with either disconnects my calls, then the next rep says “We can’t see account information at this time” and tries to sound automated, but they’re refusing to speak with you. Then you call again and they try to transfer you to a supervisor in which your call will be disconnected. I’ve called and have scheduled 4 different times to have a supervisor contact me back. Not ONCE have they ever, and they will NOT directly transfer your call to one. Today was the last straw. I called and explained I had all exchanges logged and I demanded a supervisor. I was told one will call me by end of business. I was told that “this supervisor is extremely reliable and will contact you by 9pm.”
SHOCKED when it didn’t happen. Do not ever give this business your money. They only care about you when they’re getting your money, God forbid life happens - no matter how great your track record is, they don’t care about you. I’m writing a review everywhere that I can and contacting the BBB. Shame on you, Capital One. Shame on you.

Beginning in February of 2022, 4 times I have submitted a title transfer application and VIN inspection to change states from Georgia to Oregon. Eight months and I still have expired tags. I was advised on 9/28/22, on speaker phone with a witness listening to the call, that my documents were shredded in July as they went to the wrong department. The first time I sent the documents I called after waiting for weeks to allow ample time for processing.
I was told the VIN inspection was received but not the application. However, they were both in the same envelope. If one was received, then both had to have been. During that call, I was told by Capital One that I was required to send the DMV check to them or they couldn’t process my request. Checking with the DMV in Oregon I was told Capital One should not need the money as it goes to the DMV. To “expedite the process”, I included the check (made out to the DMV) with another title application and VIN inspection. The check was deposited into Capitol One’s account in July but Capital One claimed they had not received my documents. (I have a copy of the cancelled check). Apparently, this was the time they were shredded.
Once again, I sent the documents, this time to the Preston address in Dallas, provided by one of the agents. They claimed the documents were not received. Capital One sent a FEDEX with blanks of the documents to be filled out once again. 9/29/22 I spent three hours at the DMV getting another VIN inspection and resent the documents overnight on 9/30/22. I am flying to Hawaii October 10, 2022 to work as an independent Insurance Broker for Medicare AEP. Without a current registration, Pasha Hawaii, scheduled to ship my vehicle on 10/6/22, advised me to get a lien letter. I had to delay the shipping date due to these issues with Capital One.
Now it will arrive a week later, and I will have to be renting a vehicle longer. To get it shipped I have less than 3 hours to drop it off TODAY. I FAXED the documents I was asked to send for the Lien letter. My “employment” description was denied, requesting a TAX ID – which is simply my social security #. I even gave the information for the Agency that I’m contracted with if they want to verify. Today, October 7th, was the last day that I can personally take my vehicle to the shipper, but the time has now passed.
I drove my vehicle from Oregon to CA to meet this shipping deadline, and I will be leaving Monday. In addition to extra hotel bills, I also got injured at the hotel when I tripped in one of their holes in the sidewalk. Multiple calls to Capital One, being referred to the wrong people, or told they will get back to me. If they leave a voicemail, I am back to square one as I cannot ask for a specific person. After doing everything they’ve asked me to do, there is still no resolution.
I have now incurreda. more expense, increasing stress,
b. the dilemma of figuring out how to get my vehicle shipped if Capital One ever gets their part done,
c. where to store it in the meantime
d. who can take it for me,
e. no vehicle as expected to use in Hawaii, requiring rentals.
The incompetence involved in this experience has appalled me. What company takes 8 months to process a title transfer so a client can get a current registration? I have been patient with every call, even though every one of them requires jumping through hoops and pressing menu numbers, then explaining everything all over again. They are "not allowed" to connect me to a specific person. The calls are countless and still no results. They have no desire to accommodate appropriately without adding more steps for ME to complete, and at times talk to me as if it's my fault. If anyone can help me resolve this issue I would be very grateful. I've done everything I can and never expected things to get to this point. It's truly absurd.

Capital One is more interested in your vehicle than your loan. If you're a couple days late, they threaten you to pick up the vehicle. It’s like, they don’t want your money, they want your vehicle. The people with authority, including the president, hide. They don’t want to face the way customer service treats people. I’ve offered them multiple payments several times, but they want the vehicle instead. You’re better off dealing with Guido.

I will tell you that once you have refinanced an auto loan through Capital One, if you had Gap insurance on the previous loan then it will not carry over to the Capital One loan, since you are not a dealer. Think twice. If you get in an accident most insurance companies only pay off the wholesale amount and you are responsible for the money left. Including if you rolled old payments into the car, from an older loan.

After being a customer for over 5 years we decided to refinance through our credit union to ridiculous high interest rates. I got the 10 day payoff which was good until 8/8/22, I overnighted 2 checks and they were received and signed by their corporate office on the 8th, they didn't put the funds on the account until the 9th and 10th bc they split up the big amount to 2 separate figures totaling the certified check amount. They then reversed the amounts on the 15th saying our bank denied to release the funds. Mike in escalation stated he didn't think NFCU would do it but if they would honor the check that COAF had then they would honor the 8/8 payoff previously provided.
NFCU knowing they messed up by accidentally deleting our entire loan in their system stated they would honor the same check for the same amount and sent over a check 21, which is basically like an ACH electronic payment that is recognized by all financial institutions on 8/25. COAF stated they didn't receive it. Terry the manager at COAF said, however when we called NFCU and then 3 wayed COAF Terry stated they did in fact receive it but would not accept it and was rude and nasty and a liar.
Every time we called it was wait 7 days, wait 7 days nc meanwhile interest is accruing. We finally had to get a NEW check with a different check number from NFCU FedEx to us and once again have to overnight to COAF, this nightmare is still not over. Save yourself. COAF may be convenient but if you think you will qualify through COAF you will most likely be accepted with a FAR better interest rate through your bank especially credit unions. Save yourself time, hassle, and a headache, and save your wallet because they are greedy and care nothing about customer service.

This company does not follow GAAP rules and regulations regarding loans! Can this company stipulate if my signature gave monetary value to the agreement/promissory note? State law requires the PURCHASE of the promissory note. Did the loan agreement state whoever provided the loan should be paid back with interest? (YES) It's clear that this Auto Financing Company is violating GAAP's Matching Principle... They're also in violation of 12 USCA Section 1813... where's my receipt. Was my agreement treated as a note or a draft?
Just know I'll be seeking a remedy for this fraud supported by code UCC 1.308, and that any contracts allegedly signed by me from this Company is void ab initio for failing to reveal Material Facts contained in the loan. Respond to my Affidavit of Truth or provide me with a refund so we can avoid a public costly court matter. The Chief Financial Officer for the Corporation name is Richard **. You would think he'd be in favor of fair banking practices. (unbelievable) America waking up, do better!!!

There are 2 payments that were reported on my credit report as 30 days late payments. They had pushed these payments to the end of the loan making the loan amount higher and there was some payment arrangements they were made and they still reported us being late. I need this to get rectified because I paid on time and never missed a payment. So I need for Capital One Auto Finance to take this inaccurate payment off of my credit report asap.
Is not right what these companies are going to the consumer. Without the consumer they won't have jobs. So they need to treat the consumer with the outmost respect and Courtesy. They do work with you when it comes to making your payments. But for them not to make this right and I have tried to dispute this with the credit bureaus and they advised me that Capital One has to be the one to take it out. I want it taken off of my credit report. No questions asked. We paid the entire loan so the least they can do is make this right.

If I could give a -star, I would - 1 star is too generous. I opened my auto loan 08/20 and because of loss of wages in 11-12/21, I was delinquent with my payments Jan, Feb and Mar of 2022. The representative (who no longer is employed there) was rude, condescending and threatening - in the frustration of explaining and dealing with this moron - he reported me for endangerment to myself and the vehicle to the law dept for making a statement, made in frustration (I might as well drive off a cliff and I will have to secure the vehicle to make sure it didn't get repossessed). I cashed in a coin jar I had and used the $100+ to make the necessary payment - my account was placed in OnLine restriction and EVERY payment has had to be made via phone call.
In April/22, I was able bring my account current and asked when I would be able to resume access OnLine to make payments and see my financial statement (because since the rep made the report, I have not rec'd ANY information about balance owed, payments made) I was denied access and told that it would be restricted until I paid off the loan.... I think it's a bit exaggerated and excessive, esp that I've been making more than timely payments ahead of the monthly due date - if I were able to immed pay off or refinance - I would def do it, as to not have to deal with a company with such poor policies and procedures, most definitely in the current economically situation our country has been in the past 2.5 years. So for anyone who's looking for financing a vehicle - I'd look elsewhere - Ironically, I have other accounts with Cap One and have not had ANY negative issues.

I went to refinance my car with these people and they outsource their work to other countries so you can't understand the rep. Second they ask for proof of income, which I give, to be considered for a loan. Did that. I'm also a 100% disabled vet so I sent that. I proved to them I made the money I stated and now they want 2 more months of statements. One, when you buy a car and you show proof of income they only ask for one statement but now they want 2 more because the people that are determining your eligibility don't know what they are looking at.
I've been working to do what they wanted, and waiting for a answer. When I call their number which is automated it told me that I was approved, twice and now when I actually speak to a real person it's not approved. Talk about mixed signals. Anyway stay clear of a refinance with this company they will give you different answers all in the same call. I canceled my request for refi due to this becoming way too complicated.

Capital One said I still owed interest on a car that was supposed to be paid in full since the car was a total loss. I even called my insurance agent and she said that it shouldn't be a balance because it was paid. Then they tried to say that my guarantee was sent late which was why all the late fees accumulated. No sir/maam. Two thousand dollars of late fees for two months? That is outrageous. Capital one was dishonest. I wasn't notified of a balance until now. I have two auto loans that they receive money on on time. They wouldn't waive any fees since the incident wasn't my fault. Their interest rate is ridiculous. I paid the car off from MY CAPITAL ONE ACCOUNT...and they are telling me it takes five days for the money to go from one of their pockets to another one of their pockets... But the worst is getting me the letter I need. The five days ends tomorrow. My insurance adjuster says she needs a real signature and specific verbiage that the lien is removed. Capital One will only overnight this to me via a paper letter (we do not have a branch in Michigan for me to take my title into)...but also for some reason they cannot just scan and email the letter to me before it goes in the envelope so I can send it to the adjuster to release the funds for me to buy my new car.
The dealership is holding the car through today. The adjuster said I could have the funds in my account TODAY. In this market, I'm probably going to lose my deal. EVERY payment made on time. I only owed $906 when the accident occurred and paid it off so I could get and give the claim funds to the dealership without a hassle. Silly me. What a shame. In the tech age we are in I can't get an emailed copy of a paper letter being overnighted to me? It's dumbfounding. One of the questions, "How much time do you think you will need." I said 2 months. Within 2 weeks. I got 20 emails telling me my car note is due. I called them. She asked me the same questions, I told her 2 months. They reported me to the Credit bureau 30 days pass due. How can you get penalized for accepting a offer. You would think Hardship a company would at least wait until the 2 mo. Was up, or inform you that you do have other options before Repo that won't hurt your credit if your situation hasn't changed. My balance was 12,986 so I sold the car for 18,000. Paid off. Kept the difference. Beginning mileage 39,000 ending 42,674. Banks won't tell you that.
If you are going through a Repo follow your car. If it's sold for more than what you owe you should get a small refund and in some cases gap insurance should refund a percentage. Now the hard part. Getting capital one to remove the negative mark off my credit report and update my payoff. If they can close the account that fast. They told me I had to dispute it. It don't matter how many times I dispute it until the creditor contact the bureau. It Will not get removed. I went back and forth for 4 days with the Customer service. I asked for number to corporate. It got silent. I said, "Hello I asked you for corporate silence." I said, "Are you always this rude. Is there a supervisor that I can speak with." I was put on hold for a hour. I hung up. Call back. Put on hold again. They talk to you like you're a idiot. If they can close the account send me a refund. The accident happened on June 25th 2020 and today is July 9th. Spoke with Capital One 3 separate times and the first time a copy of title was sent over to the insurance company. The second time the Insurance Claims supervisor was on the the phone and Capital one agreed to send over by fax the letter of Guarantee so the Insurance company could send over the payoff... Well today the third call and I was told they had just received notice that there was a claim on the 7th of July and it would be 3-5 business days before the letter of guarantee would be sent. At this point after calling three times and my insurance company was great I lost my mind.
They do not care. They continue to charge you interest for each day they do not send over the letter.
The interest comes out of my settlement which is more than the pay off.
They Still have the Gap Payment that will like be around a 350.00 refund that will not be given to me until the pay is complete.
Most people probably don't even know the Gap is partial refund and the money is sent to Capital One.
The Bottom Line is the Service once they have you in a loan is the worst I have ever experienced and no one really cares, they do a very good job reading a script and from dogs barking, etc. in the back ground sounded like they were working from home. I would never recommend this company to anyone and I did get my daughter a credit card that is paid off every month that will be canceled and this company will not see me again, Their stock is 152 per share this morning and the way they do business I am sure the profits are good. My Capital One Auto Loan is set up on auto draft. It always has been and there has never been a late payment in the 3 years I have had the loan. Last month I received e-mails and text messages from Capital One saying the payment had not been made and to make a payment immediately to avoid late fees. I went online and made a payment. Two payments were taken out on the same day. I contacted Capital One who agreed to refund the duplicate payment however they told me it could not be done electronically and that a check would be sent. I have not received a check. I'm still waiting. My effort to avoid a late fee has resulted in a lot of other fees. These slimy, apathetic dunderheads unapologetically screwed me and I don't appreciate it. I have two Capital One credit cards and received a pre-approval letter in the mail for a Capital One auto loan. I ignored it for a while until our car broke down and I decided to just get a new car. I called capital one, gave them the pre-approval letter information and they mailed me an official approval letter (I cannot remember exactly what it was called but it basically said I was approved for 50k zero down) went to the dealer, showed them the approval letter and picked our car. Drove the car home. It’s been about 3 years and we have had no problems. I pay every month on time using the website. The loan is nearly paid off. I have nothing bad to say about Capital One. First Let me say Capitol One Auto Financing this is my second loan with them and the loan process has always been very accommodating and professional. With this loan they changed the way you could make overages mid stream in the loan, so I had to COMPLY with their new way of doing thins. (One Star Rating) Secondly, I check and follow my credit report like a hawk. 2 and 3 times a week to make certain nothing negative shows up. I have been doing this for years and am VERY FAMILIAR WITH HOW THEY REPORT AND HOW LONG IT TAKES FOR PAYOFFS/PAYMENTS to show up on the Credit Reports.
A payment was made in April to COMPLY with the 1st of the month payment. On April 12, 2021 a payoff was made on the vehicle. I was told that the payoff would be reported at the end of the month, the 28th, to be exact to the credit report agency that handles all three credit bureaus. I asked if they could report it early as I was purchasing a home and needed it to show paid. They said "NO". Which was their FIRST LIE. As they can do a one yime reporting to update a credit file. But I agreed I would rate till the end of April.
Here we are the 10th of the month and generally by now the previous month's payment would have showed up on my credit report, remember I check this every month 2 - 3 times a week. I have waited giving them an opportunity for it to show up. When I called the Credit Agencies I was told if it had been reported it would be already on the report. You see the previous months payments are usually recorded by this time. However my report does not show the previous month payment or the payoff. It simply looks as though I haven't made an April payment.
So today I called. I was told that THEY have no control. THEY can only report it and I get that. But had they reported it, it should be there, which it is not. So I asked to speak to a supervisor that was an effort within itself. After explaining to the supervisor at "supposedly their corporate offices" and was told it would take up to 90 days for the payoff to show up. Funny how, remember I have been watching and monitoring my credit for years, no other payment has ever taken 90 days to show up. So then when I asked her to do the "ONE TIME COURTESY UPDATE" I was told she couldn't and wouldn't.
After a heated conversation, I was told I NEED TO BE COMPLIANT AND RESPONSIVE AND LISTEN TO HER STATEMENTS. Three time I was told I had to be compliant in order to get her to meet my needs. However, when I said I asked for my needs to be meet and I asked her to be compliant and responsive to my needs. Well that was an inappropriate request, I needed to simply be quiet and again be compliant and responsive to her requests. I asked for a supervisor I was told would I be willing to have someone return my call tomorrow? I said, "No I wanted to speak to someone today," because truthfully - and I did not say this to her - I am still waiting for a call from a supervisor in March of 2020 which never came. I just gave up on that matter.
So she said that she would see if anyone was available for me to hold. As per usual, I was put on hold held for 2 minutes and the call was disconnected. And as of this point I have still received no return calls. As I said Capitol One Auto Finance has been great in my previous loan dealings with them. However this last time around as not been a great journey. I probably will never use them again. Personally, it is a good company to get a loan through. But this will be my last with them. If someone from Capitol One Auto Finance reads this, certainly give me a call. But please just get handled the request that I was told last month would be handled on the 28th of April. Thank you.

I’d been receiving invitations from Capital One to buy a new car for years. “You’re pre-approved for a new car with financing up to $35,000” is the hook. I’ve had typically solid experiences with Capital One on credit cards I’ve had for the last 8 years so I thought I’d give it a try. So the hook was set, and as I began to shop I wanted a small increase to get the car I wanted so I asked that my secondary income be included.
Now this secondary income is EASILY verifiable. I have 1099s for the past 5 years, I have recent pay stubs, and I have had consistent additional income of 11-13K per year for 3 years and I had bank statements showing these deposits. So every day I call in and EVERY single day I’m on hold with Cap One’s Debbie Downer auto attendant and of the days I called in I was on hold for 45 minutes to 1 hour waiting to talk to them. 3x I sent in bank statements and they kept saying they didn’t get “Page 2 or 7”.
I had (and still have) a deal in place with Carvana to buy this car, and I’m trying to get Cap One to give me the room I need and they were just either unwilling or incompetent that they could not and would not consider this additional income. I even got a lecture saying that “they would look at it but that was no guarantee.” Then they kept saying they didn’t get the complete upload as if there was a black hole in the internet where files go to hide, and then once you submit these to them you have to wait 48-72 hours for the “underwriting to approve them”. So you never hear back from them.
It’s an awful process. There’s no guidance on the sequencing of how to do these trades. I have a car scheduled to be delivered April 12th (2 days ago) in Austin and I’m calling and calling and they keep giving me the same story when I call, and Debbie Downer auto attendant while on hold. And on and on. After 2 weeks I message to call. And I call and nobody knows who asked me to call. Then I get a call and I’m told I need $8100 down to get the car. In the end I used Carvana Financing with $1800 down. I call Cap One & they’re still looking for the files I uploaded. It’s unbelievable.

Applied with capital one auto since I have them now. Makes sense right. No, they turned me down saying I have a bankruptcy from 5 years ago. Recently paid off my car. Still haven't received the title. While researching how long it might take to receive it I came across all these reviews, and decided to leave my own. I appreciate Capital One, for financing me when nobody else would. Was self employed for my first loan in 2016, and it was close to impossible to get an approval with my less-than-stellar credit. Cap 1 gave me 9% which is bad, but not BAD. I financed two other cars through Capital One afterwards. My credit is over 700 now (I'm also no longer self employed).
I traded in one car 6/2020, refinanced the second 1/2021, and paid the third off 1/2021. Now I have no loans with Capital One, but during my time with them I missed no payments. When COVID hit I was able to defer payments. It gave me up to 3 months, but I only chose 1 month on 2 of the three cars and left the cheapest one alone.
During my time with Capital One I also had automatic payments set up for one of the cars. The payments came out weekly (my choice). When I paid the car off, the site showed I was on track to have the car paid off 8 months early on a 3 year loan! Because of the weekly payments I end up overpaying a little - not a bad thing, but beware of that if you don't want to pay more than minimum, and only set once a month payments for the amount due. Personally I appreciated that I was able to split my payments into small, frequent amounts and get so far ahead on my loan doing so. In fact, my new finance company doesn't let me do it like this, so I really miss it. Also, I really like the website. My current finance company doesn't have the balance tracker or any of that other fun stuff.
I am not saying Capital One is perfect (still waiting on my title, it's been like 6 weeks?) or that they don't occasionally mess up. Just saying that in my experience they gave me a chance, let me defer, I was always aware of when my automatic payments would be processing. My extra automatic payments were put towards paying the principal balance. I find the website helpful and open. Make your payments on time and most will have no issues. Life does happen, be careful with your financial decisions.

Your pre-approval letter is COMPLETELY different than what will actually be offered when you're at the dealership. They offer you a certain amount, quote you a ballpark interest rate specifically for you and then do something totally different when you have selected a car and are filling out paperwork in hopes of squeezing more money out of you.
I have a significantly high credit score and the interest rate I was given over the phone was 4.4% however when I went to the dealership and selected a car the loan amount offered decreased because I did not utilize the full amount they wanted me to so they increased my interest rate to 9.4% and required 4x the down payment I was initially given approval for. When I showed the dealership my pre-approval letter we decided to call their headquarters and they refused to talk to us "Until the deal was done". CON ARTIST!!! I've called them and talked with a manager trying to work out something to help me get it current. I been making my payments every month I just can't get the few past payments caught up. I have a limited income and their option was a large amount up front to move one payment to the back or spread it over 3 months. If I had a large amount to give them I would have already sent that in. If they could just put one payment on the backside and spread the rest over the next 2 or 3 payments I could be all caught up.. They will not help me in that way at all and yes I've talked to a few different people there. They're not being reasonable for someone that has a budget to work within or very passionate towards their customers...

We received financing through them in 2018. We lost our jobs and immediately contacted them requesting if they would work with us and was told absolutely not. After 18 months of no missed or late payments, this refusal was a surprise. They repossessed the vehicle. After that they offered to work with us, now that extra charges have been accrued from the repossession. They informed us that the vehicle would be auctioned unless we made a good faith payment and then they would modify our loan. They put us through this for 3 months. They never once sent us a Intent to Sell letter which legally they are supposed to. Never notified us of time and place of said auctions, which again they are legally supposed to.
After many frustrated calls and 2 good faith payments and no documentation on their end to show that the payments had been applied we were finally able to get our vehicle back. We go to pick it up and find that damages had been done! Capital One did nothing about it. They have refused to send us a copy of the loan contract or any documentation in regards to this vehicle. Very unprofessional and bad news. I wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

I refinanced my car with Capital One, and asked them to remove my co-buyer from the title as well. They asked for power of attorney from both parties and promised to take care of everything. After like two months the previous lender (Mercedes-Benz financial services) called me and said that DMV needs my authorization to lift a hold that for some reason was put on the title. I called capital one and they said as soon as they receive the powers of attorney they'll take care of that.
After more than a month from that day, MB financial services called back again and said the same thing. I called capital one and after like 3 days I could take a hold off them, and finally they said I am the one who should deal with DMV! Considering that my co-buyer is 75+ years old, and during this corona virus crisis, how am I supposed to take him to DMV to solve our issue?! What was all those power of attorney and $75 that I paid for notary for??? Plus, agents have no knowledge about anything. They keep asking you to wait so they can ask their supervisors. They need to be explained about the issue like two or three times to understand the situation, not very bright people you know! Please do not refinance your car with this company! Reconsider other available options or you are going to have a lot of hassle.

I attempted to do the deferment online, but was only granted one month. I can't send an email. I can't get through on the phone. This is ridiculous! This is traumatizing to have to deal with this virus, but to also have to deal with non-caring companies is out of the question. I need to speak to someone and I can't seem to do that. Bought a new car last fall. Have been a longtime GM/CapOne card holder, used my rewards points numerous times and got a comparable interest rate to that of my credit union. Fast forward six months. I started paying closer attention to my payments, extra principal paid, and the amount of interest accrued each month. THE INTEREST CHARGES NEVER CHANGED. Always the same per day amount. WHAT???
While I am awaiting confirmation, I suspect they are using "Precomputed Interest vs. Simple Interest" in their loan. I have NEVER had other than a simple interest car loan. This is new to me and I do not recall seeing anything about this in my financing documents but will research further. This borders on deception, but caveat emptor.
Needless to say, upon finding this I am promptly refinancing my loan -- to a better rate and a lower term with very little change in my monthly payment. The only silver lining in all of this is that I always pay off my credit card in full and have saved over $5000 hard cash off of my auto purchases with the card rewards. If not for this, I would likely cancel my credit card as well after this learning experience. Bottom line --> Buyer beware.

I have been late on payments many, many, many times. I was always able to make arrangements to avoid repossession. The reps were never rude. In fact, I'm the rude person. Right now my car is being totaled out due to an accident. We'll see if behavior changes. I did read a couple of posts on this website and thought y'all were idiots. Lady, close that back account or pay a flat fee to your bank to block that monthly payment. Plus, I never do automatic drafts. Honestly, I'll probably get another loan with them next week after all this business is finished with the insurance company.

They informed me that the storage fees that the car accrued would be paid upon pick up and at that point, I could hand over the keys to the Repo agent picking up the vehicle. However, the car was picked up without our knowledge after business hours and we did not hear a word from Capital One or Repo agent before or after this happened.
The storage fees were never paid on this vehicle and every time I call in to see what is going on, I continue to get the runaround and nobody ever calls me back. I recently fell behind in my car payments because of a financial hardship. I tried to be proactive and call them to get an extension on my loan. Like many others, my account did not "qualify"! Keep in mind I've had my car for 3 years and have never paid late or missed a payment! (Not sure what qualifies you.) They said my account was still considered to be in good standing so the system is not generating an extension option. They mentioned the account needs to be delinquent. So I waited until my account is now 20d past due and incurred a late fee.
I just called again and still NO EXTENSION is available! Capital One is HORRIBLE at working with customers. Instead of having the ability for a PERSON who might be sympathetic to a person's situation determine if a person qualifies for assistance, they leave it up to the computer to randomly choose who qualifies for an extension. I'M DONE WITH CAPITAL ONE. I will NEVER finance another vehicle with them, will NEVER recommend them to anyone, and as soon as I pay off my 2 credit cards I will close my account. I’ve never done it before we are always good with our payments but I had given birth to my son 8/31/19 and after having him, my heart went really bad so I had to stay in the hospital for weeks. They ended up doing heart surgery on me in September. Bills were hard at the time and we researched our options as far as getting our bills together because I wasn’t being paid while going thru my heart situation. I called capital one, asked them about forwarding that current months payment to the end of the loan, the lady went through my acct and stated, "I’m sorry we can’t at this time." I then asked why, and she said it’s the because the system won’t let her.
For one, I could barely understand her. I guess she was Foreign and two she couldn’t give me a Legitimate reason as to why I wasn’t able to do it other than the system won’t allowed it. I was very disappointed in the bank because of this. I was told that Capital One does not re-finance their auto loan(s). I had 5 co-workers at the time who also were experiencing financial hardship and to my surprise, discovered they had requested a deferment and that allowed them to put their past due payments at the end of their loan. When I called to get assistance, they told me they'd never heard of a deferment. I asked for a supervisor, they said as long as they've worked there, they never heard of a deferment.
Fast-forward, due to a change in employment, the snowball effect of continued medical bills and having to face not getting treatment until I paid the doctor, my vehicle was repossessed last Friday. The tow yard sent a notice to Capital One advising them the car was there and it could be auctioned after 35 days. Capital One repossessed my car before the insurance company was able to get it moved to the body shop. Capital One required repo and impound fees to release the car to the insurance company. I paid the $641.60 ransom. Capital One provided release.
When I was setting up the appointment to pick up the car, I was informed that my car has been sent to auction. Now I would need to pay more fees to reclaim the car. A car I was never late on. They plan to sell my car tomorrow. I have no money to get it back. Now they will charge me lots of interest plus the balance of the loan. I have filed complaints, but Capital One is ignoring me. They do not care or have one drop of sympathy for people having a hardship due to cancer! It is a shame, I can't believe the cold-heartedness of these people! SHAME ON YOU CAPITAL ONE, I PRAY NONE OF YOUR FAMILY EVER NEEDS HELP AND GETS REFUSED!

My credit is excellent and I was rate shopping. Capital One sent me an email stating I was pre-approved, but I had to call. I called and they again advised me I was pre-approved, but for some reason they couldn't send an SMS to my number and I had to speak with a different department. I got disconnected and had to call again. The next call I spoke with the verification department and was sent a link to their Auto Navigator. The vehicle I had my eye on was there, but no rates were available. They needed me to send proof of residence, which I did. They initially rejected my proof of residence and I had to take time to call again.
They approved that, but the rates still weren't available. I read other reviews that stated even if rates were available, it makes no difference. When you go into the dealership, you still have to fill out a credit application and the rates will most likely be different than what Auto Navigator shows... I recommend cutting the B-S and just going to the dealership from the jump, which I did and got an excellent rate.

I was pre approved for a car loan and decided to take it to my dealership where I work. It was simple and quick. I have been making above my payments as well and paying extra on my principal to pay my loan off early. I haven’t had any issues with Capital One at all. I have 2 credit cards with them and I’m building my credit pretty quickly. It sucks for the bad reviews Capital One is getting but I’m giving a 5 as to they are doing wonderful in my eyes! You will have my business for life!

It is not mailed registered receipt requested, just regular mail. They have no record of ever sending it to me. Then they sent me a "Lien Release" which they told me I can take to my DMV and get a replacement title. For $60. Beyond pissed that after paying my loan Capital One basically screwed me again, and all they can say "whatever". Never again will I deal with Capital One. They got my money, paid in full, so why should they care? They should reimbursement me $60 for their incomptence.

I received a letter in the mail from Capital One with an offer to use Auto Navigator to see if we could pre-qualify for an auto loan. The first point in the letter said, "Pre-qualify with no impact to your credit score." On that basis I followed all the steps to see if we pre-qualified and we did. After discussing it with my husband, we decided not to move forward with a car purchase at this time. A short time later, our credit score dropped 3 points as a direct result of using Auto Navigator.
I contacted Capital One about this and their only solution is for us to get hard copies of our credit report from all three credit agencies that show the drop in our credit report as a result of Auto Navigator and send them (through the mail) to Capital One along with a credit dispute. I don't have time to jump through all these hoops. If financial institutions misrepresent the facts in their written material, how can they expect to be trusted? It makes one wonder, what other facts are they misrepresenting? I advise caution in dealing with this company. Just because they say something does not mean that it is true. Buyer beware!

When I called and asked for a review as the account was paid in full and reported 3 days after payment of 164.00 (not thousands) to the credit agencies and wanted the credit report status to be changed as this report is hurting my score, Capital One refused!! 24,000 dollar car, never missed or late with a payment, paid the only small balance of 164.00 and now Capital One is hurting my credit score and they refuse to change it!

I have two credit cards with Capital One and that is how I came to refinance my vehicle. After being approved for auto refinance, they tell me they need my title so after a phone call with my current lien holder, the lady tells me to order my title and to upload the receipt for it before my application expires so that they at least can see that I am trying to get it. She said it usually takes a couple months but if I show the receipt then when my application expires, it won't affect my application. Of course when I call back now I have to reapply to get the same rate or a different one.
Why did the lady tell me that they have customers do this all the time if obviously this was a problem. Now I am still stuck paying my current lien holder because I was misinformed, but do I get anything for that? Absolutely not. I took their suggestion to apply since I have two credit cards with them and have been satisfied with those thus far. Now I'm left just majorly annoyed and nothing I can do about it.

I got my car loan in 2017 July to be exact. I made my first payment in September thinking I had a 60 day grace period before first payment due. I made continuous payments for the first 11 months then I was late on a payment. I called, explained it would be late, received, "Don't worry. You're in good standings." I paid the payment the following month. Later on down the line I continue to make payments then come November 2018 I call and they tell me I'm 3 payments late. I'm like, "Huh?" So then I double my payments.
When I think I'm all caught up they tell me, "You're still 3 payments behind." I continue to reach out to see how come – to find out it started with my first payment being due 30 days after getting the car. I have them defer the payments to extend my loan then when I go to buy a new car I find 6 late payments in a row. I dispute it with credit agencies then reach out to them. They report the information is accurate. I then ask for proof. They send me the proof. I ask, "If all this was going on why am I the last to be informed when I call at least once a week to check on my account?" They say, "All that's your problem. We can't assist nor assume you didn't know. Nothing more we can do for you."
I take some of the blame but then I ask why did I get locked out of my mobile app or why did it take 10 months to find the problem. There's no response. I filed numerous complaints with the CFPB and got the same declined message. My last response from the company from Capital One was pure lies. I changed account numbers, called and informed them, also made a principal payment and told them they could also take out my original payment on the next due date which was 7 days later. Instead of them updating the new account number they attempted to get from the closed account. My question why would they do that when I called and gave them the new account number.
They also lied and told CFPB I never had a mobile app from them but if I wait 5 days it'll be reset. Long story short all my attempts to get them to work with me failed and their bottom line was, "We don't care who you contact. Our decision is final. You've reached the end of the line." Sad for me. I still have 4 more years of having to deal with them.

After have auto loan out for 1 year and six months I called to pay a large sum of money towards balance to pay off car early. Capital One will take large sum payment but balance will be the same as if you have loan out the whole term of agreement. Meaning you will be charge the whole interest amount no matter if you pay off loan early. Second if vehicle is damaged or broken you will still have to make payments. Capital One will not work with at all. They will not roll over loan into new loan but set you up for a new loan plus you still will be left with old loan.
Third they will not release title to get vehicle junked so you will have to store vehicle in place where you will not get tickets and have it towed if you move until loan is paid off. Don't finance a vehicle with them. You are better off with a no man company. I used them because they was well known and I thought would be better, but they care nothing about their customers and after three years of on time payments I was not given one option, and they had the nerves to offer me a new loan on top of my old loan. Stop. Do not use Capital One Auto Finance.

After reading all the negative complaints, it seems like there is one underlying theme....either poor credit or not paying the loan on time. Everyone faced adversity from time to time, but if you don't communicate that early, they just can't help you. I refinanced through them and got a much lower rate and actually just paid my car off... early! There are several ways to pay a car loan, but if you're trying to pay it with a credit card, that's a bad idea all around. I had it drafted out of my bank account and have never had any issues with them. If I ever buy another car, I plan to use them to finance that loan.

The majority of the complaints here are just rubbish besides the ones that paid off their loans and had to wait for the titles. I refinanced with them at received a much better rate that saves me $164 per month, I have cards with them also never had an issue. My refinance transaction went smooth and was set in stone within a couple of days maybe because I was already a customer. As far paying your loan with a credit card well yes you can. I do it every month. You must download the Capital One app on your device and when you go to make a payment there's an option to have it drafted from your bank account OR be redirected to the CheckFree website.
On the CheckFree website you can make a payment but there's a $3.50 fee and the payment posts that day or the next business day. You can also add your Capital One loan account to your bank account online and send a payment that way. As far as hardships I had one so didn't pay for 3 months then paid it off, they have a second chance program per se. Since then I've been able to get another Capital One cc and pre qualified for another auto loan with the option of keeping or trading in my current vehicle even though I already have a loan with them. Despite all of this I still can't get a CLI on my first card but I'm not complaining. People need to stop leaving unnecessary reviews.

The lairs didn't have the right to keep a lien on the car for over two months as well as after 3 request. And if something happened to the auto ever with it paid off, the insurance money will go to Capital One Auto Finance because of the Lien still being attached to title. I have two credit cards I paid off too. I will never use them. Have had my car with Capital One for almost 3 yrs. Have never been late. Recently have been experiencing some financial hardships and money is super tight in which is keeping me from making my car payment this month. Everyone I'm around talk about their finance company offers the option to defer a payment when unable to make it. So I decide to look into this option with ole Capital One, mind you I had already read the comments on this forum prior but still tried my luck. So I'm here with same sad experience. No bueno. They gave me this cockamamie mess about the system didn't approve me for the option of what they call an "extension". Me knowing how this customer service mess goes because I work as a customer service representative and tell people the same bs already know how the game goes.
So I ask, "Is it not humans who operate the system and can override the system?" And of course because they are all trained robots reading a script didn't have much to come back with after I said that. Then had nerve to say, "There are other options, you can choose to change your due date or make a partial payment," so I was like surely if I could make a partial payment I could struggle to just make full payment, so that's out. So I ask what do I need to do to change due date, why did this trained puppet tell me I would have to make a payment. I was so baffled I just started laughing, really lady so we are back to the issue I had... Making a payment that I've told you in the beginning, and middle of this unsuccessful call I didn't have.
I told the trained puppet, “Ma'am those are not options. Those are traps.” All Capital One cares about is getting paid and they can't even tell you the reason why they can't grant the extension other than the system didn't find you a candidate. The same system designed by humans right. Smh. So I was like, “Well I'll call back later to see if the system will grant me this request since you humans are ran by the system.” So I did and you already know the system still sucks, but that's OK I will never ever finance another vehicle with Capital One and when my financial situation gets better I will be looking into transferring my credit card balance I have with them with my credit union... Maybe one day enough people complain about the way they handle loyal customers they will get the picture and change their jacked up system.

I have had difficulty with submitting payments due to their online service and app not allowing you to use your debit/credit card for one time or auto payments. They need your checking account routing number, which I understand and willingly gave up. Then suddenly, my payments started being sent back with them saying it is incorrect info.
I entered the info directly from a check multiple times. It takes them 5 business days to inform you it didn’t go through. By then, they slap a late fee on top. I’ve called customer service multiple times, the best they can do is complete a same-day one time payment using my debit card. Zero help from customer service regarding setting up auto pay.
