    APMEX cancelled my order however they cashed my check. It was an order over $8000. It’s been a month and no refund for funds. Do they keep my money in a high yielding interest account for awhile before they refund? Interesting, I will never purchase from them again. I was a customer with many transactions. Buyer beware, It could happen to you. Where’s my money APMEX???

    They canceled my gold bar without notice saying no inventory despite it was promised in the beginning on website. Took almost a month and still no refund after the silver bars are shipped out. Calling daily to ask for refund status but they lied to me saying refund was issued on 10/23. It wasn’t processed till today. I have to dispute through my bank.

    I find that APMEX gives you top quality coins and their prices are much less than other companies I have dealt with.. You can even earn discount points by getting the BULLION CARD which lets you pay over time on large orders.

    Order placed and full order received, however, part of the order was shipped from another location and an unknown person, received under a separate package which did not come from the original place of order. While the shipping order and invoice are provided in the shipment, I believe the items sent from another person/place should have been communicated to me before the order was shipped. However, I am satisfied with APMEX items and service.

    I have been a customer of Apmex for over 20 years although it has probably been 10 since I've bought anything from them, reason being that when I attempted to do a buyback (sale) about 8 years ago the offer price was SO low that I was insulted by their meager offer. A month ago I contacted Apmex regarding a large collection of coins from my late father's estate. There were many unusual items including world coins, ancient coins and a number of PCGS and NGC graded coins, as well as some commemorative sets. I furnished many photos and descriptions and followed up with several phone calls. Eventually I was put in touch with a "specialist" whom I contacted several times to provide additional photos to assist them in their bid.

    My emails and calls now go unanswered and I have since given up on getting a response. I will not mention the name of the individual because I do not want to cause any problems for them directly but the total lack of service and disregard is unacceptable. Fortunately, there are other more reputable and professional companies out there who will be happy to get my business. After this last experience, I will continue to be an EX customer of Apmex. Yes, they are one of the largest, if not THE largest online retail coin companies but their buyback department has been a complete disappointment. As a buyer I give Apmex a high score. I have never had a problem with an order, product quality or delivery but I absolutely do NOT recommend or endorse their buyback program.

    Do not send your coins to APMEX. They are fraudulent company. I ordered 100 kookaburras. It was supposed to be a seal box and came loose. I returned them for a seal box. They never returned my 100 kookaburras in a sealed box. They held my money and they held the coins. In the meantime market value of the coins went up $1200. Can anybody tell me now why they never sent the coin back?

    I enjoyed the products that I ordered. I had an issue with 1 of my eight orders. There are not great shipping options. USPS failed to deliver 1 inexpensive item. The customer service department treated me like a criminal even after filing a police report. Very poor service. I will never order from them again.

    I have been a VIP member since 2012. My last two orders were nightmares. Customer service and management stonewalled me in phone call after phone call trying to learn the status of the order (wire transfer).     They misrepresent tax and charge sales tax for exempt bullion products for Colorado customers. Collecting a tax that doesn't exist is fraud to me. I would never order from them again considering they are already overpriced.

    I’ve had difficulty getting the points as promised and advertised for the APMEX Bullion Card. Two of my three purchases in July were not awarded the 4%, and I’ve called several times with no resolution. For the August anniversary sale, it was advertised as 5% back, but I received an email showing my reward amount as only 4%. I have a ticket in on that one as well. Also for the anniversary sale, customers who spent $500 were supposed to get a $25 discount code emailed to them to spend before September 30. I have not gotten that email. Basically you have to stay on top of their promises. The surcharge for using that card is 4%, so if you don’t get your 4% back, you’re actually spending a 4% premium over the advertised markup. For example, if you think you’re paying a 5% markup over spot and then you don’t get your 4% reward back, you’ve actually just paid 9% markup.

    I have purchased many items from APMEX and 1 Gold who they own. I always had good success with them until USPS lost shipment in mail. The reason I buy metals is believing the price will move up. After I purchased silver spurted up to near 40.00. In good business I believe the company should replace what you bought, instead of getting another 5 oz silver bar I was reimbursed by the company. The difference now for me to purchase the same item and take a chance it will be lost cost 42.00 more. So, for 42.00 they have lost a customer.

    Updated on 08/27/2025: They say they are issuing a refund which is good because I didn't sign for the empty box and the mailman returned to sender.

    Original Review: Ordered 3 one ounce Platinum Coins from this company and 2 rolls of JFK half dollars (40 coins). Order wouldn’t ship until they had the Kangaroos ready, so it took two weeks to ship. Received notice of the shipment. Waited outside for mailman. He handed me a clearly empty package. I mentioned it to him right there. Then I called Apmex immediately and told them the package was empty and REFUSED delivery, handing the empty box back to the mailman who agreed the box weighed the same as when he handed it to me. It’s been over a month since they took my money. The box was too skinny to even contain my silver half Dollars. They say there is an ongoing “Claim” with USPS, until denying it today, but that’s BS because I REFUSED DELIVERY of the package. They owe me the money. Trusted them for 15 years and spent 50K or more with them over many years. DON'T TRUST APMEX.

    First order… My initial intent was to order an amount over their limit for personal concierge service so I called and had a great conversation. We went back and forth over the next week via email, with the intent to place the order with her once I had funds moved into an account which I could then wire from. When I reach out to actually place the order I received no response. Time got away from me. A few months later I decided to order directly from the website and experienced difficulties when the ACH portal would not accept bank info/set up properly. I then went to send a check but it requires a CC to do so.

    Despite having a 10 min locking price during checkout as I was getting my card number and inputting the information I watched my cart total jump twice, about $15, before I could hit submit. When I called customer service I was basically dismissed. Haven’t heard anything back. I received an email confirmation of my check arriving, the order processing and shipping. It arrived with no issues. My only complaint is that there was no shipping invoice - I had to go back to the website to verify I received what I ordered.

    I've made several orders over the years and had generally good experiences. Last order was an advertised brilliant/uncirculated Carson City Morgan silver dollar that had a corrosion? mark. Wasn't happy. Will I do more transactions with them? Probably, because selection of product seems better than competitors but will limit purchases to non numismatic items. I've not had any delivery problems but I use the signature delivery option.

    Apmex promotes the Bullion credit card as a way to purchase their products and receive a 4% credit toward your next purchase. The deception lies in the fact that you are charged that 4% by the credit card as a surcharge. So you are indeed not receiving any credit toward your purchase of bullion. Also, the Bullion credit card does not send any digital invoices, and they will only contact you once your billing deadline has passed and they have added a delinquent charge. Additionally, any correspondence regarding the card does not include the word "Bullion." Instead, you must unravel that "card center direct" is its veil. I do not recommend purchasing bullion from Apmex whose tactics are duplicitous.

    I recently started investing in silver dollars, as it is the only metal that fits within my budget. I have ordered 4 at this time and have also received some 1/2 Goldbacks for free with my order, which is awesome. I did my research on this type of currency and ordered some $1 ones from a different company, but if not for the free ones with my APMEX orders, I might not have diversified into another type of metal.

    APMEX did not deliver my two orders within 7 days as promised. APMEX had withdrawn funds from my bank account the same day. However, when I cancelled the orders, APMEX would not release the funds for 60 days. It is unacceptable to keep the finds for 60 days!

They used to be responsive and offer solutions, but now they ignore issues, delay responses, and don't take responsibility for their mistakes. My recent order was a mess—late, incomplete, and full of false information. Their profit-first mentality has overshadowed the quality service they once had. They need to step up and value their customers over profit."

    Even For orders 1k and up still they might use the sales receipt to wrap your precious metals with it! 1oz gold coin +3400 and just in plastic bag? $1 burger comes with a box bag everything so think about it. Pay attention to what others saying ex: out of 8k reviews Apmex is holding 1.6 out of 5 stars. Some other big companies like SD billion… Govmint.com etc they don’t have the exact same inventory but shop around. Also read why low rate reviews are there, just so you can imagine what is different today. Noon I ordered few silver coins from Govmint.com and they already got my tracking number that’s fast and how it should be! Not to mention they have lower minimum for free shipping and silver wedged 2024 at spot!!! Reg: was $45.98 so yes and order came with free monthly magazine and capsule inside a flipper. All these even if you just buy 1 small coin, there are better reputable companies

    Apmex choose the best price online, but be very careful dealing with them. I made an order for a bullion and a sovereign, then realized that my local jeweler to have them at a lower price, I canceled the order in the same day before it was even shipped. That was a Saturday. They send me the cancellation email. And they directed five percent of the transaction calling it "market loss fee" meanwhile the market has appreciated for gold. I called them and I said, okay, send me the products and don't cancel. If you're going to charge me this huge amount, they said the cancellation was already processed. They can't send me the product, so in short, they ripped me off 5% of my transaction without selling or shipping anything. Customer service is horrible, very difficult to deal with, basically tells you. It's in the fine print you read. You didn't read it. It's your problem, and there is nothing they can do to help you.

    Ordered over a month ago, provided many forms of proof. They have had my money for 30 days and still not sent any gold bar I bought. They have you jump through so many hoops to ship out a product already paid for that it is absurd. You can enter legally to the USA with less documentation. There is no reason for this especially after they took the money.

    This is not the first nor the last time I will use them for purchasing coins and metals. They are convenient for an online retailer. Prices are fair, though they can be steep when buying in smaller quantities. Overall, I would recommend them to others.     I spent thousands of dollars with APMEX over the years, but they've lost a loyal customer. I recently bought expensive gold numismatic coins advertised as BU and AU, only to find out—after sending them to PCGS—that four were cleaned and damaged. These were absolutely not in the condition APMEX promised. When I contacted them for a refund, they ignored me completely. No accountability, no response. Beware—APMEX is not the reputable dealer they claim to be. I won't be buying from them again. Stay away, buy elsewhere like SD Bullion, etc.

    Our first grandchild was born last year and instead of buying US savings bonds we started buying him precious metals instead for holidays and milestones. I told our son we will tell him it's pirate treasure when he's 5 years old. Ha ha. I feel the company is trustworthy.     ZERO stars if I could, only recommend if you like wasting your time and having family time stolen from you. I ordered Xmas gifts 11/30 and they never came over ONE backordered $30 coin I begged them to cancel, they refused and told me I could ship to my family's house where I was staying for Xmas, made me pay expedited shipping and the gifts NEVER came, hence I had to drop everything Monday 12/23 and spend all day finding new gifts for my family. NEVER BUY FROM THEM, backordered promises are prolonged and they LIE about where you can alternatively ship to.

    First off, I spent ~ $3,000 on a specialty 1oz gold goin, received it with copper spots all over, very disappointed. Ready to give a second chance, I placed an order on 11/30 far ahead of Christmas as gifts for my family. I was notified that "one" coin (for myself) was on backorder until 12/10. No updates on the 10th so I called and was told "still delayed, in stock 12/17 latest." I explained the order was Xmas gifts and I would be leaving to visit family for the holiday out of state on the 20th. I asked to cancel the one backordered coin and was told NO. I was told "if YOU want to pay for expedited shipping ($21) we can 100% without a doubt have these to you by the 20th." I was given no indication there would be any further delay & received ZERO communication after this.

    I still felt uncomfortable with this promise, as this was ALL of my families gifts, so I asked again to cancel the one coin that is causing the delay. NO. To cover my bases I asked, if there is another delay, could they please ship these to my Mom's house & was told yes and they requested her address. The coins NEVER arrived 12/20 and I had to wait until Mon 12/23 to call. I call Monday am only to hear the one coin (that I don't even want now) is still OUT OF STOCK, put me on hold, and then magically 10 mins later it's suddenly in stock. They send me to "validation" to verify my Mom's address and it is NOW that I'm told, if it's not my "actual" address, they can't deliver, zero exceptions. ALL OVER ONE COIN THEY WOULDN'T LET ME CANCEL TO GET THE OTHERS ON TIME.

    They left me high and dry on Monday 12/23 to go Xmas shopping for my family when I had purchased these coins FAR in advance. I was forced to abandon and sacrifice time with family, over the holiday, and I will never get that time back. I was told a manager would call me about the encounter an how it was handled after the holiday. It is now Feb and nobody has called or reached out.

    Do not sell your coins to Apmex!!!! They managers absolutely unprofessional. I sent a list of coins to them, and the manager sent me a quote with many mistakes, I sent an email, that you need to give me a quote for that list that I sent you, and sent the list again. After that, he called me and I explained where his mistakes again. He sent the quote to me second time, with mistakes AGAIN!!

    My third email to him was absolutely useless, because he didn’t even answer to me. So I spent 2 days, for them, but this is not the end. I called, because nobody answered me, explained everything and ask for another manager. A customer service representative said that he got my list, everything is fine, and he will connect me with another manager. Can you imagine that in 30 minutes I got wrong quote again with the same manager that I asked to change!!! This is so ridiculous and unprofessional with company like this. I’m gonna make a deal with another professional company, who can at least READ MY LIST THAT I SENT and give me the right quote.

    Ordered Item below from APMEX. I received a empty box with no Bezel in it. Called and was transferred to APMEX security associate. Provided details with personal description of empty box and requested a new one sent to me. I was that there would be an investigation at APMEX for they have cameras to watch employees through process of shipping to customer and they did not discover any improprieties. The APMEX security associate basically inferred that I or the shipper stole the Bezel and that I was my responsibility to follow up with a police report for them.

    APMEX requested that I take pictures of their box and packing material. I did so and email said pictures to them. I further explained that the shipping box looked to be like a typical well sealed APMEX box shipped to their customers. I also explained to another APMEX associate that I believe that the box was sealed and the bezel box was empty. APMEX locked my account keeping me from viewing my orders. That's where I stand today 12/01/2024. I am out the monies below and one 22mm Bezel. I did not receive a refund.

I am a big fan of the 9Fine products, they are on sale a lot of the time and the poured bars are beautiful, making them hard to pass up.     Their customer service is seriously lacking. Immediately after placing my first order with them, I identified an order error and attempted to call them. It was after their business hours, so I then engaged their online web assistant. Which was not able to help me. I next sent them an email. The next business day, I received a response that they paused the order I placed until we could connect and correct the error. Their customer service hours are limited and when I would call, had long waits.

    When I managed to reach someone with their customer service team, the only option they could provide to edit my order was to cancel it and start over. Which I was ready to agree to but they informed me that not only would I lose the 1st order promotional discount of $75 but would also be charged a $53 cancelation fee. Ultimately, I am disputing the transaction with my bank and order elsewhere moving forward. Their customer service team is afforded zero authority to correct orders. They would rather lose a customer to a competitor than do the work necessary to rectify the situation.

    DO NOT TRUST APMEX. I purchased a rare penny for over 1,300$k and received an EMPTY box. Inside the there was a layer of foam and that’s it, no coin, no empty coin container just an empty box. The box was in no way tampered with, the postal sticker was on the outside of the tape where you cut. This was all them, they stole the money and sent nothing. Now they refuse to dispute it, they claimed they checked their security footage and found nothing wrong, the postal box was weighed the same after postage which is ridiculous because it happened at the company itself. They are liars and cheats and I’m not going to stop until people know not to ever buy from them again!

    I HIGHLY recommend having your metals checked if you buy from this company. I bought silver bars from them and went to cash them in. I had a set of bars that were not silver except in one little tiny spot. I went to a second person, without saying anything to them and they reported same thing to me. They both said they knew something wasn’t right at first look. And it doesn’t even sound right when you ‘clank’ them together. Both used sigma and the bars wouldn’t register with the platform or wand. Only one little speck on the bars registered. They both were thorough in showing me the comparison with actual silver bars to these bogus ones by sight, sound, weight, and the sigma.

    I called Apmex and they pushed back on me and argued disregarding what I was clearly telling them. Felt like I was dealing with a scammer. I will NOT be buying from them ever again. I would take high caution before buying from Apmex. They are the best customer service when buying but, a different ballgame when you catch them not selling you some bogus worthless metal. I’m nervous about the rest of the metals I’ve purchased from them.

    I just got scammed by this company. They prey on the unknowing and it's a lot better to just sell to a gold trader locally. I sent in my good bar and coins to them which amounted to a few thousand dollars. It was claimed the shipment was tampered and then after 2 and half months of investigation they refuse to pay my claim because I “used an old box” even if the outer box was new. They cited this technicality. It seems like they prey on you when you fail to follow their supposed instructions albeit vague and then TOO BAD it's your fault even if the carrier mishandled supposedly your order. Makes me think they set me up for this because they knew my box was “used” and a convenient prey for loss. Stay away from them. They are crooks!

    I had a very bad experience here and this will be my last time doing business with them. Had a $50k order canceled because "Leon **" from verification department claimed that, he misheard me. Even if he misheard what I said, he should at least verify that the order is canceled or give me some kind of verification number. He did not. He just canceled my order because he did not like that I mention I might have to cancel the order due to reasons. Leon cost me money and that's no way to treat a customer. I will not be back.

    Ordered 8 uncirculated coins from APMEX, Four Morgan and 4 Peace dollars. One of each was a circulated coin determined after being sent off for grading grading. When I contacted the company they stated "So sorry it's after 7 days nothing we can do." You can send a request but most likely nothing gonna happen. If you want uncirculated coins make sure you order graded coins. This is really a scam because they price the coins as uncirculated but most people will not be able to tell the difference once received unless taken to a professional or sent for grading. SCAM be careful.

    I've bought and sold from APMEX over the years and the experience has generally been satisfactory (as opposed to, say, good or excellent) Until last month, when I decided to sell them back some gold in return for a paper check (no, you may not have my bank account number). Oops, can't do that online (a fact you can find out only by calling them). Bid for a minted piece was under their quoted spot price. Accepted. Shipping unremarkable, although UPS was delayed by weather.

    Jan 23 received note that the check had been mailed, expect in 5-7 days. Today is Feb 8. No check. No online remedy available. Back to the phone. Melissa tried for my ACH number again. What is wrong with you people? She then kept me on hold for ten minutes "waiting for my team to get back to me". I mentioned I wouldn't mind an overnight check, as this delay was on them. "We don't have access to that". In Oklahoma City? You walk down to the post office, or print a UPS mailer. DON'T tell me "we can't" when you mean "we won't". Here's hoping the replacement check shows up in 5-7 working days, i.e. February 15-19. For a gold coin received by UPS on January 12.

    Canceled three orders by credit card for no reason. First, they told me it was the bank (credit card issuer); the bank confirmed it was not them. Then APMEX told me it was because my billing address for the credit card was wrong and they would fix that. Finally they told me (third call to customer service) that I had to establish a history of paying by other methods such as wire before they would accept my credit card. This is the only vendor I have ever had a problem with; perfect credit and long history with credit card use. Avoid APMEX and find someone who appreciates your business.

    I sent the bank transfer. It was received, then the order was cancelled AFTER the payment was received. I call, and this status was verified on all three calls. I asked for an immediate refund of the bank transfer. Four weeks after the first refund request, I called and demanded to talk to someone in a supervisory position. I was connected with someone in accounting and was finally promised a reversal of the bank transfer. Five weeks after the purchase, I finally have my money back... all of it. The threatened capital loss was NOT applied. DO NOT PURCHASE FROM THIS OUTFIT.

    I was an avid buyer on Apmex for years. So much that I was a premier member. Well yesterday I go to login to my new phone on their app, I get a "security" alert. I wrote a customer service email and called them directly today. Well after speaking to a few different people, I get transferred to a woman. She claims now my account is PERMANENTLY BANNED because the address is marked banned in their system. I said, "What are you talking about? Mind you I live I'm a MULTI- UNIT and there's 4 other people who live at the "same" address." According to her, I now am banned, all Premier perks gone and can no longer shop at their site/app because SOMEONE ELSE THAT I DO NOT EVEN KNOW had an issue with them??!! Talk about complete UNFAIR BUSINESS PRACTICES...I guess they don't want MINORITY WOMEN such as myself getting ahead in life and having gold/silver assets!!

    I cannot believe in this day and age no one can think Well this woman has been here for YEARS, is a PREMIER member, AND never had any issues....so there's NO VALID REASON to ban her.     Been purchasing from APMEX for years. I found a product, listed as silver coins, that is interesting. I ordered 20 coins. Then I looked further, the product is not silver, and still don't know what kind of metal it was. I requested to cancel the order immediately, i.e., within 10 minutes from when I made the purchase order. Two days later, I received an e-mail from APMEX with a link to cancel the order. However, APMEX will charge a $50 fee for canceling. To tell the truth, I don't mind paying the fee as it was my mistake of not looking carefully, but I need to vent my points.

    1. The order is not yet fulfilled and I want to cancel within 10 minutes from the initial order, and I don't see how APMEX would incur any expense to cancel it.
    2. The lesson here is "Read Carefully Before Ordering Anything From APMEX".

    3. APMEX most likely will lose mine as a customer, and I would not recommend doing any business with them.

    Caution doing business with this horrible company. I WAS a new customer and will not do any further business. They shipped me out tarnished coins and want me to pay for returns to replace. They had me messaging, and calling over several times to resolve, with no satisfactory resolution. Of course, a manager is never available but you can go to voicemail. They have a “I don’t give a bleep attitude for resolutions”. They don’t take accountability for their own errors. My large order was tossed on the ground by USPS and signature forged with an insurance coverage lower than what I paid, as shown on USPS delivery form of $100 for several thousand dollars order. This is terrible and claim to be a 4.5 star company. This is **. I won’t be doing any more business with this horrible company again.

    I recently ordered two rolls of old pennies from APMEX via Walmart. Four days later, an envelope was slipped through my mail slot (I was there at the time and saw the incoming mail) and the package was empty. Either someone had slit it open and removed the contents or they were never shipped to begin with. I then got emails saying my package had been delivered and my Visa account had been charged.

    I called Walmart and the rep said he could do nothing for me. He suggested that I contact the vendor, who did respond 24-hours later, but only to tell me to file a police report. I did this the very next day. APMEX then stated in a later email that they had conducted an internal investigation, but nothing was awry. Because they weren't going to assume responsibility, the presumed I would have to eat the costs. I told them very firmly I would not be doing so. Whenever I have dealt with online vendors in the past, should something be damaged or missing, they were happy to issue a refund or replace the product. APMEX doesn't seem to operate this way and has lost any future orders from me. This is a company where the customer comes last, not first.

I am a United States citizen, I am living in the USA, I am working in the USA, I am paying taxes in the USA, I want this country to be the best country in the world. And yet, my account was blocked and the order was cancelled. APMEX did not even refund me swiftly and said they were going to hold my money for up to 60 days.

    I bought a 1 oz. American Gold Eagle Proof from APMEX in 2019. I decided to sell it in June of 2023 and went through the process to ship it to them. They received it and a few days later I got a phone call from them telling me that the coin was not a proof and was not uncirculated. I told them I took pictures of the coin before I shipped it and they asked for me to send the pictures. They emailed me and told me that it was, in fact, a proof. If I did not have the pictures, I would have had to accept their misrepresentations and lies. This makes a considerable difference in the value of the coin. I responded to their email and told them that they have broken my trust and were lying to me to cheat me. They have not responded and it has now been over a week.

    Do not sell to these people, they are not worthy of your trust and I will not be doing business with them again. I hope I get my coin back but it is looking like they will just keep it and not pay me. I emailed them twice about it and there has been no response, other than one email telling me that the purchasing agent took a couple of days off and would respond when she returned. There has been no further communication from them.

    I have been a customer with APMEX since 2011 with no issues until this last month. Ordered some gold from them that was stolen in transit. Filed a police report and everything they asked me to do. They did say they would refund my money (still waiting for the refund as of this post) even though I sent them repeated emails that I wanted the product instead of the money. Despite my protest, they also told me that any future products I should order from them will not be covered under insurance. WHAT? It's not my fault the product was stolen, so why the heck am I being penalized? So now if I wanted to make any future orders from them, it's not covered under insurance, despite them (to my knowledge) not having caught the person that stole it. That doesn't make me feel very comfortable ordering from them again.

    What if it was an inside job? How am I to know that they didn't have someone in their facility steal it so they can make an insurance claim? I can't. They claim they will be having someone investigate, but I don't suppose I'll ever see the results of that investigation. The only other possibility is that was stolen by someone while in transit with the UPS, and again, I will probably never know.

    It is my opinion that they are not a company to be trusted if they are going to punish their consumers for mistakes the consumer did not make. Also, I did try posting a review on their website only to find out that their reviews are filtered. I doubt they would let anything through that paints an ounce of dissatisfaction. Get your metals elsewhere.

    Apmex has delivered products as specified, on time, great tracking communication. However, the portfolio tool is deceptive in regard to “current value”. Portfolio tool shows acquisition cost and current value but current value is apmex’s retail selling price, not what your actual value is. Apmex won’t pay retail or even give spot value for your product that you have to sell.

    It’s relatively understandable that your product is valued at spot price; but why would anyone pay you retail price? AKA apmexs’ false impression your stuff is worth retail value. Portfolio tool does have a disclaimer in clear but small view to set the record straight. That’s how they get away with it. Since Apmexs’ current value of product is false once it’s in your hands… it really shouldn’t show it at all. It’s misleading regardless of the disclaimer.

    I sold my gold Italian bars to them and they were 18k. All the conversation with them I disclosed that it was 18k. When they got it they apologized and sent it back. I never got it back. Don't know what happened. Call the USPS and they didn't have any claim or anything. Apmex just said, "We can't do anything." Basically lost my gold almost 5k of my hard earn money. Contacted lawyer and state deparment and nothing so. I'm just going to warn people about them so you can be aware. Opening Reddit groups and Facebook market group until the government can do something about them.

    I trusted APMEX to ship me what I ordered, and in a timely manner. After weeks of not receiving my order, I placed a request to find out what happened. APMEX said that they "were going to investigate". They did their investigation, to find out indeed something happened to my order. Although it was at no fault of mine, and they 'guarantee satisfaction' APMEX stated that my request happened after their 30 day policy. Although they do ask if you don't receive your order right away, that you should wait longer. APMEX has not made this right to date, and I certainly hope they will do what is right and send me my order, or provide a refund.

    I have used Apmex on several occasions with no issues. I did see one review where the coin was being shipped to the wrong address. That happened to me as I failed to update my address after a move. It was being shipped standard USPS, I called Apmex the next day to explain and they were really good about it. They put some kind of trace on it and got it shipped back to Apmex, it was then shipped out with the new address and all was good. Just delayed.

    I placed two orders with this company, large, one was fine, one was the wrong item. Two weeks for them to confirm mistake, sent an RMA to return item not received (?). Asked them to note on my invoice the item I did receive rather than that which I did not before I returned the goods, they said they could not do that. I'm supposed to trust a company that wants me to return an item mistakenly sent and I have no record of that which was sent to verify the mistake. They claim video of the packing process and yet never confirmed the item sent. I sent them pics, no acknowledgment from them. I'll keep the wrong item, the value was close. They claimed to put a $25.00 credit on my account to adjust the price difference, tried to find/use it, it's nowhere to be found. They refuse to make a change on the digital invoice/record to reflect the actual item sent. It has not been a pleasant experience. Can not recommend APMEX.

    This is was one of my yearly purchases from Apmex for silver and gold coins. They always have a great selection with many coins only they have access to. The box is usually a little big. So make sure your tracking your package and home at time of delivery or you suffer the chance the mailman just leaves your package next to the mailbox for any dirt bag to steal. Those are the times we live in now, not Apmex fault. All coins I've received from Apmex have been BU and well packed, just as advertised.

    I placed an order with APMEX for coins. I realized that the order was going to the wrong address so immediately cancelled and reordered. I was debited twice and refunded days later for less than the order amount. I was not aware of a cancellation fee and market loss fee (fine print). I sent an email to APMEX to inquire with NO RESPONSE. I then requested a refund for the difference and was granted that refund by my bank because there was nothing noted about a fee or market loss fee on the refund invoice. I have now been locked out of my account and they refuse to deal with me. BEWARE THERE IS A FEE even for immediate CANCELLATION! They would not unlock my account even when I offered to pay the fee. My business will go elsewhere.

    I asked a question through the web site two times, and no one would respond. I then wrote a physical letter to the company asking why they would not respond to my emails, and they never responded. So that tells me if I ever bought anything and had an issue they will not respond, but more than happy to take my money.     I ordered 1000 war nickels which are 35% silver but to my surprise 10% of the nickels were random date or 1942 (pre composition change) nickel nickels. They obviously know what they are doing and treat me like a child when I tell them depending on how many of these sell there could easily be a class action lawsuit, I bet people have been complaining about it for years and everyone who hasn't doesn't know how to decipher silver from non silver 1952 nickels. These people are clowns.

    Two calls to accounting, eight emails, and a chat session later my silver order is still screwed. They seem not able to find the Easy Button when it comes to updating payment method. In fairness, they did foreshadow incompetence when order confirmations misspelled the word “status” as “staus”—not once; not twice, but six different times. Hardly inspires confidence.     I place an order on 4/24/2022. The package was “insured with the request of signature”. Company Version 1 -> “Our investigation in conjunction with the United States Postal Service, along with that of our insurer, has been completed… “package” was picked up directly at the counter with the postal clerk” 05/09/2022. Contradictory, On 5/19/2021 – Via email, Apmex “Request for Confirmation of Delivery”, which was answered immediately as PACKAGE WAS NOT RECEIVED”. The company requested until the 20th to receive package “since were 10 days of delivery”. I decided to wait until the 23rd, via call and chat I place to request a delivery, the company indicated: “the claim would be sent by email, it could take 24-48 hours for delivery”. The delivery was not received either.

    Company Version 2 -> “The USPS reported to our claims team that the package was picked up and signed for. Our insurance covers the item during shipment but not after delivery of the item”. Once the delivery arrives at a destination either a home mailing address, business, or post office and is signed for, the item is no longer covered by our insurance”. I replied, "The package was not received, was NOT insured NOR requested for signature. If you have that evidence, please provide it. If you have a problem with your courier, please do resolve your issues with them. Fulfill the order." Apmex did not confirm delivery nor a signature confirmation as they claim in their policy or in their version of handling the package. The BBB understood the company “had made a good effort to resolve the claim”. This company has Failed to deliver and demonstrated complete misrepresentation of its “policies”.

    Several months ago I reached out to APMEX inquiring whether they would be interested in purchasing about sixty high grade, graded and slabbed coins of various types I’ve collected over the years. They told me they are interested. I wrote out a meticulous list for every coin I was offering for sell, including the PCGS and NGC numbers and all the information on the labels. A few days later, I received an email stating they are reviewing the coins and compiling a purchase price for each. To cut this review short, it took nearly 90 days of back forth emails, with many days or weeks between each, before they send me a list for how much they would pay for each coin.

    Not only that, but they mistook coins I offered for other ones, added coins to the list I never offered, doubled up coins I offered, as well as doubled up coins I never offered. They also quoted me $29 for many of my MS70 silver eagles, one of which was a 2002 MS70 Silver Eagle graded by PCGS. I told them that price is outlandish and the coin is worth over $200. Their response was, “We buy graded silver eagles at wholesale price.” Wholesale price? They mean close to silver spot price. I was floored. Also, I had to give APMEX my credit card number since they would charge me an appraisal fee of $200 if I did not choose to sell coins to them that equaled at least half the amount of money they quoted me. Well, thank goodness they screwed up so many times they waived the appraisal fee and we parted ways. I sold the collection on eBay and made thousands more than I would have made by selling to this roguish company.

    Also, beware purchasing ancient graded coins from them. Anyone who collects ancient coins know that each coin is unique and the quality of the design matters as much as the technical grades. APMEX lists many of their ancient coins using stock photos, so the coin you believe you are buying may not be the coin they send you. Read the fine print.

    I had been a stacker and customer for years with Apmex, but no more. Placed an order, forgot to sign the check, immediately gave them permission to do an e-check. A month later, not even shipped and won't for another week or more. I finally tried to cancel the order. Even though spot for silver is down, there was a $44. fee for market change and cancellation. (On a very small order) On an issue that was Apmex's fault. Hard to get answers from customer service. Even though Apmex sometimes has more selection, they also have the highest premiums.

    I have never had any issues with purchasing PMs from APMEX. For now, they are the only reseller I use. But be careful if you want to sell to them. I have a low mintage Gold coin, less than 7k were minted and their offer was essentially a scrap Spot Gold price. They also didn't return my email when I informed them of this.     Please do yourself a favor and run from this company as fast as you can. Based on a comparison of what they charge for a one ounce gold coin today, versus another company I currently am buying from, they are charging hundreds of dollars more for just one gold coin, the reverse proof gold Libertad. And please read reviews from other websites about their practices. I was genuinely alarmed by what I read.

    I got scammed by Apmex. Be aware, Apmex never gave me my order after paid in full which was almost $10K! I even provided full police report. I will report this company to every consumer site around and on investors forums, also make people aware that they will not provide ANY help, support and take 0 responsibility once your package gone missing even if you PAID to get it to your door with signature. I am beyond sick to my stomach dealing with this.

    I ordered and paid for gold. Waited a couple weeks for delivery. I get an APMEX email that says it's being delivered. What? There's been no delivery!!! The USPS tracking record says the delivery has been made and I signed for it. This definitely hasn't happened. I call APMEX and a lady tells me that a claim has been filed and I will get an email from claims between 3 days and 2 weeks. Really? Don't use these people, I think I'm being ripped off.

    I did not appreciate the package being simply left outside my door without a signature or even acknowledgement. It was delivered via USPS. However, all my items were delivered and were on time, and Apmex can only be responsible for the timely shipping itself, not the specifics of delivery. This being said, if I were Apmex I would find a more secure delivery method.

    In this business, you live and die by your reputation. In the past, APMEX had an excellent reputation. Something has changed for the worse over the years. I recommended them heavily in the past but will never use them or recommend them again. I have done a decent amount of business with them over the years. I was a largish buyer of gold and silver for my personal account at one time, most of which was bought at Apmex. In addition, I recommended Apmex to a relative that was a jeweler/large gold buyer. They did a lot of direct business with Apmex and recommended all coin sellers that came in the door to sell to Apmex. This will never happen again. In the past: no issues with Apmex at all -- as a buyer or a seller. Probably 100+ orders from me directly.

    Recently: sold two lots of coins sold to Apmex. I double/triple-check everything. 1st time: they tell me I'm missing something. OK. It's like $70 or less than 1% of the agreed sale price. Maybe I actually made a mistake. 2nd time: Sorry, "we found some milk spots. We need to deduct a few hundred dollars." OK, maybe this is correct. Everything sent in was slabbed + I didn't notice the milk spots, but OK. Then, I reach out a week later when funds aren't showing in the bank account. "Sorry, we had to do a year-end inventory (why not just say this at the outset) + we determined the one 'S' mint coin isn't really an 'S' and we need to deduct $400 from original quote." Note: the shipment was acknowledged as received over a week ago (remember the "milk spots" issue earlier). So someone looked over the merchandise in the past and determined it was OK except for some milk spots. Now there is an issue.

    This is super sketchy especially considering the coins were slabbed by PCGS and NGC. The coins that were sold this time were either bought directly from Apmex as slabbed or were sent, by myself, directly to PCGS and NGC and then returned to me as slabbed. Is there a bad apple at the receiving department? Is this sketchy behavior now a company policy? Who knows? All in all, we are talking a few hundred bucks in recent discrepancies, and I feel that I have personally done over $100k in business with them over the years. I would have done more, also. But where there is smoke, there is fire. Buyer (and seller) beware.

    APMEX used USPS to ship my purchase. It was lost by USPS for 1 Week. Whenever I had purchased from them prior, it was shipped UPS. Never a problem with United Parcel Service. No wonder the Post office is going broke! If you purchase from APMEX specify UPS! APMEX is a pleasure to deal with but this has made me question if I will return.

    I bought (20) 2021 Am. Silver Eagle (Type 2) MS-70 (First Strike) coins from APMEX on 10/02/2021. The coins were compared to a previous order of (40) Am. Silver Eagle (First Strike) MS-70 Type 1 coins. In fairness I bought the 40 Type 1 coins from APMEX. The most recent order of type 2 coins were smooth. All of them didn't have the crisp sharp sandal straps nor stars. There were also shiny pin sized specks on all of the coins, especially on her neck; in the same place. I immediately inquired about returning them for a refund. After about 1.5 monts and 4 emails I finally got my return label. I specifically chose refund on their questionnaire. Lo and behold! I received 20 of the same type of coins in the same poor quality.

    I immediately inquired about getting a refund on these poor quality coins. I was told they don't do refunds on returns. What!? They actually have a policy for this? I asked for an exchange and was told the same. It goes without saying that APMEX is a shady company. As soon as I get the time I'm taking going to small claims court. We all spend thousands on silver coins online. I've dealt with 3 online companies in the past including APMEX. I haven't had any complaints until now. If someone gets the message loud and clear that APMEX is an online company to steer clear of, then I did my due diligence.

    Fake metals. I was sold a 1 oz poured silver that was way out of range when I tested it. When brought to their attention they stated I should have tested right it right away because returns are only allowed within 7 days. If you buy from them immediately test your metals because these people are dishonest. I paid $800 years back for a Sigma Metalytics Precious Metal Verifier (now they cost $1.100) which is Quality. Since it was out of range I took the 1 oz in question to a company in Austin that has a tester that cost a lot more than mine and it was not even any type of silver according to them. This company is dishonest and should not be trusted.

    I have been investing in Gold for a little over 30 years. I like to try different vendors, as many Gold offerings vary. I always start by purchasing 1 Gram to test for purity etc. This is the first time I have run into an issue. The Gram Ingot arrived quickly. On examination I was surprised by the brightness of the Gold. Very bright yellow, in my experience .999 24K gold is more of a warm amber color. The second oddity, was that the Ingot is as hard as stainless steel. Again from my experience, 24K is soft and malleable. Other samples from other vendors from around the world are soft enough that it can be bent with little effort. One would need a vice and plyers to bend this ingot. I had it tested by a Goldsmith and the reading returned at 18K. I would advise against doing business with this vendor.

    I have ordered coins from APMEX on at least three occasions. In order to get the best price, I pay by check. That causes a delay in delivery, which is expected, but saves me from having to pay by wire. Consumer Affairs asking about whether I received an order placed September 23, but actually I placed the order late on September 22, 2021. It took probably five or six days for my check to reach the company, which is a guess on my part, and delivery was made on October 8, 2021. I also order from two other companies online, one that caters to ex-military and one that caters to NRA members and all have provided good service, but APMEX is probably a little faster. APMEX had some 2021 MS70 coins at a low price. For waiting for a bank check to clear, I think service was fast.

    I ordered a 2021 1 oz Silver Britannia in BU condition. However it arrived with dented/chipped edges and the face was scratched. I did contact customer service regarding the condition of the "brilliant uncirculated" coin, and they provided a refund/exchange if I wanted to send it back. Which I wanted to exchange however the hassle of having to mail it back and wait for the return is a great inconvenience. All which could have been avoided if the product I was sent matched what I had ordered. With a precious metal company like APMEX, I would not have expected such poor quality. I later ordered from another company at a lower price and received a much better product than what was sent by APMEX.

    If you read the BBB reports, APMEX has experienced a sharp uptick in complaints. I was very surprised, as I've had no problem with their service and always get exactly what I've ordered, on or about the date they said I should get it. What it looks like to me is a lot more deliveries being ripped off from customers' porches when dropped there by USPS. If you're going to order anything worth money, get a PO Box if you can't trust your neighbors!

    I've had issues with raw collectible coins in the past...so if you're ordering a roll of "Brilliant Uncirculated" or the like, you might do better going to a coin dealer...Not that APMEX is trying to rip anyone off, but if you're selling thousands of coins a day, it isn't surprising not all of them would be up to standard, unfortunately. Bottom line, I still have complete confidence in APMEX and love their selection, speedy service, and reliability. This is especially true for current issues of collectible bullion coins and such...Have not found a better online vendor yet. Keep up the great work, APMEX!

    What is the worst can happen if you order gold online from APMEX? My answer to that question will be: “receiving the box with no gold inside it!” Yes, we received the box (looks good from outside) but the gold bars were missing and the bag inside the box was teared from the side. We called and informed APMEX immediately, they asked us to file a police report and submit a claim with UPS as well, we did all they requested us to do, but eventually they decided not to file a claim! They expect us to take the loss and do nothing about it! We were extremely disappointed! I am not an expert and it is not my job, but there is a very weakness point APMEX need to focus on and improve, the way they package the products for shipment is not secured enough comparing to the value of these products (gold).

    When we received the box it looked perfectly fine so we did not hold the postman till we open it and check inside, but after we opened it did not find the gold inside and we noticed that the inside sticky material was removed from the side and pulled out the side of the box to open it then pulled the bag out, teared it from the side, took the gold out and put it back as it was without any need to break the only outside sticker on the top of the box (the shipping label). (Please review the attached photos.)

    If there was at least a secured sealing tape on the sides or any other security feature it wouldn’t be too easy to be opened without breaking or causing any damage to the outside appearance of the box and would have avoided us all this stress and depression other than the wasted time trying to solve this issue on behalf of APMEX.

    APMEX is an excellent place to purchase coins and has a wide selection from various national and private mints. The website allows you to pre-order and receive notifications when new coins are available (adding a coin to your wishlist before it's available does this) or when older coins become available. Coins are often available with certifications or COAs, usually in tamper proof packaging. Prices are comparable to similar sites, but the selection tends to be better at APMEX, especially if you are interested in licensed coins (see Movie and Licensed Products under silver...I have not seen any site with such a large selection of these kinds of products).

    The description on coins often includes the total number minted and other factors, such as if the coin is part of a series, that help in deciding whether or not to purchase a product. Every coin you purchase at APMEX is tracked and you can see how your investments are doing in your "Precious Metals Portfolio Tool." They now have a phone app, as well.

    I ordered 5 Niue Island commemorative coins from APMEX during July 2021. I ordered 2 for myself, and 2 for my mother for her birthday. I ended up ordering a third Niue island coin for myself. APMEX screwed up EVERY order. Then rather than issue a refund, they will give you a "discount on your next order", which they will also scam you on. Steer clear of this company.
