I found WES instructions for application submissions to be clear and concise. I do hope in the future the process becomes more digital rather than actually requiring courier services. I think an area of improvement would be the fees. Since I applied for my wife and my degrees to be evaluated they charged us the fixed amount separately. Perhaps there should be discounts for family applications. For instance if a principal applicant for express entry is submitting a degree + his/her spouse then the spouse could get 25% off (as an example) and more discount if family members are more. All in all, I found their services to be straightforward but fees could be improved.

No one ever responds to my emails nor my phone calls. I've sent them over 15 emails, all that I get is an automatic response stating that they receive my email but no one actually follow up. I call them daily with same results: on hold for over 30 minutes no one answer, so I GIVE UP and try again the next day... After 23 days I asked for my money back but guess what I'm still waiting for them to respond. This organization needs to be investigated. I really start to believe that they are an organized SCAMMERS.

WES took my money over a year ago and up till now, never rendered the services I paid them for. The same credentials I submitted to WES was evaluated in no time by a prestigious University where I am presently doing a masters' program. Their main office should be in New York and I live in New York but no one knows where they are located because I've tried to go there but only ended up at a courier company. You rarely get them on phone once you turn in your credentials and pay. I encourage people not to use them because they are taking advantage people.

I applied with WES for my MD degree evaluation and sent them copies of my documents. They accepted one and rejected the other one asking to be sent directly from my institution in a sealed envelope. I followed what they asked for. The package was sent from my institution but unfortunately it went through the customs and was opened and the seal was broken. Guess what? The WES rejected my document again and I tried with them but they were so stubborn and I already missed the deadline for applying to my school because of them.
I requested cancellation and asked them to return the original document that they received from my country. They deducted $50 cancellation fee and refused to return my transcripts. l didn't receive my refund yet. I lost the money I paid for this transcript. Calling their customer service is a nightmare. We need to contact the board of education because this is non ethical and it should be someone watching these people.

If there is an option for putting no stars at all, I would put it definitely. I called their customer services line because I have questions. I got very unexpected response from the customer service representative, she didn't answer my question clearly, so I further asked politely. She got very rude, impatient, and finally hung up on me! Still shaking my head. I had never had such an experience with a customer service representative anywhere. Unbelievable. Definitely I will not use their services.

They charged me nearly 300 dollars for evaluating my high school certificate. I sent them my documents (not enough), then sent my school board the application along with their letter. Their letter has specific requirements (seal must be placed in a particular position etc) and many third world countries school boards do not follow them. Took 3 months, numerous calls to get my documents to them and it's not enough. They have no phone number, only take questions through a web form and will take a week to reply each time. Have a response to their response? Go back and use the form again. I'm not really sure what they do for $300. They are a ripoff and will make sure they do everything to not get your documents. You'll regret your decision. Use CICIC or CMEC instead.

Somehow we managed to act and rectify this but communication is terrible because I was left in the dark for weeks and started processing another verification from my institution costing me more time and money. They need to be way more customer centric. This is a paid service with SLAs and not philanthropism.

I have never been this frustrated, confused and cheated. I submitted degree documents in 2014 and got credential report from WES Canada 2 weeks later. Item 1 on the WES report reads, "transcripts were verified by institution". However, WES has communicated to CIC that I have not yet completed evaluation and that my documents are yet to be verified by my institution. My hard copy WES report is right in front of me and beside is my online account which reads waiting for verification. I have called WES and all they have done is forward yet another verification of document request in October 2015 (over a year later). I don't know what to do as CIC has assumed I have no evaluation. I wish I could sue them, but I am in Nigeria. What can I do?

I was very afraid to get my grades evaluated through WES after all the stuff that I read online. Since most PhD schools were familiar with this company I submitted my Spanish grades there, anyways. My only complaint is that it's true that takes them a while to answer the phone when you call, but other than that, everything was extremely easy and smooth, and, which is most important, ON TIME! They did a really good job with my application and I couldn't be happier that everything went so nicely... I wonder if most of the people who write bad reviews don't read their website carefully, and that makes them have incomplete materials submitted. Read thoroughly, their website is very specific and detailed!

I applied for an evaluation in July. WES didn't include all my last year of Bachelor's degree courses and also wrote a wrong major title and blamed it on my institution not sending a complete certificate which I highly doubt. After a long wait for my institution to send them another document WES then changed all my first and some of my second year degree courses from Upper (U) to (L). They also don't separate GPAs for high school and Bachelors. They just include everything as one cumulative GPA. I complained about the second error they made and all they said was basically, "There is no error and no changes will be made."
I paid them $212 and I feel duped. I am so upset right now. What makes it worse is that you can't even talk to the person in charge of the evaluation. Their receptionist just tell you write and it takes forever to get a response. I now can't even use this evaluation. I have to go to another company and try to get another evaluation. It is depressing.

I recently ordered an educational assessment done from WES, Canada. Initially I went for their free degree equivalency tool, which gave me a basic idea of what my degree is equivalent in Canada and a link saying if you want detailed analysis and report then you have to pay. When I went to site and fees, I saw two packages, one basic and other advanced. I filled the document with WES Basic package (course by course) and paid the fees. I even did spend a lot to send my documents to Canada from India twice. They changed my package to ECA default package, which I didn't notice until I got the report which was exact replica of the free equivalency tool report with just a stamp on it. It doesn't mention about my credit hours or GPA. I never wanted the ECA default package. Now they are asking me to pay more to upgrade. I feel cheated.

I requested credential evaluation from WES since May 2015. I submitted all required document. On the WES website it states clearly, "If you have completed one or more years of post-secondary study, you do not need to submit any secondary school documents with your application." First, it took over 2 months to solve issues with WES about document sent to my school for verification which the institution claimed they never received.
Now, after 4 months, after receiving all required document and verification from issuing institution, WES is requesting for my Secondary School (High School) certificate for a Post-secondary credential evaluation. Has anybody been asked for same? Contacting WES is always difficult as you are kept on hold for almost an hour. This delay has cost me so much; I missed the opportunity to enroll for a program I had an invitation to get in. Has anybody had similar experience? Is it a new rule? WES ought to make requirement clear for applicants.

Customer service are bunch of idiots who read the script online and reply us. We can do the same too. Our future is in these hand of such unreliable evaluators. It's 3 years they can't evaluate one subject for me, because they are stuck with their fixed, non reliable information. I believe universities should open their own evaluation departments and they should stop thinking about other universities to be as fake and thief as they are. On top of all, WES customer service bangs the phone down on you after 45 minutes of waiting. Guess what race they are? I figured it out. You tell me! :)

This company don't have an office or someone who can respond your questions by phone and I don't think they have a clue if the documents they received are legitimate.
They hold my money for a year. I cancel all and they put in the type in the account that my paper are unacceptable almost 4 weeks ago. I still not getting my refund. I sent in my degree certificate because I had a copy, and few weeks later I sent a sealed envelope with my transcript. They updated my status to "The document received does not indicate that your degree/diploma has been awarded." I guess my transcript didn't say that I was awarded the degree which is clearly indicated in my degree certificate. They requested a statement from my international institution that says I was awarded the degree. Also, very pathetic not having a phone number to talk to the person who does the evaluation.
I really wished to have read all the negative reviews on this organization before I paid the fees. Very poor service, and very lame reasoning to reject documents. Go somewhere else, I guarantee it would be better than WES because this can't get any lower. I have to miss this enrollment season because of this mistake of working with WES.

First contacted this company as a recommendation of Midlands Technical College. They charge a lot of money for their evaluations and their knowledge on the subjects was extremely poor. They translated an associate's degree in accounting that took me 3 years to complete to a high school diploma in the USA. Also when I asked for a copy to be sent to the university I was going to study they tried to charge another 99.00 US dollars. They were very disrespectful, rude, unpolite and unprofessional. When I called and asked questions about their rates, asked to speak to a supervisor and they refused to assist. Not to mention it took an hour to have someone to answer the phone. A year ago I too made the mistake of trusting WES. On their website, very quickly to be honest, status of my degree has been updated as approved and also my profile indicated that they have sent a report, however, I have never received any such report. I sent WES a complaint letter, they asked me to pay and request a second copy (!!). I replied I would have paid for further service if I had been served reasonably in the first place. After 6 (or maybe 7) complaint letters they claimed to have sent me a second copy; the copy I never received, much like the original report. That's over 200$ I'll never see again. I just wanted to warn anyone who's reading this: you are smart to research beforehand! This company does not deserve your trust, IMO. I have no idea why Canada's government still trusts them.

I will start by saying I respect everyone comments but my experience was a bit different with WES. On the 8th of may 2015 I created my account with WES, made payment for a course-by-course evaluation amounting to $249. l posted my ACCA certificates on the 9th and at the same time I asked Glasgow (UK) to send my ACCA transcript directly to WES, as per WES procedure. When my ACCA certificates arrived at WES, my account was updated immediately. Two weeks later my transcript from ACCA arrived at WES and I was notified by email from WES and my account updated respectively. WES gave me 7 days for my evaluation to be through but behold on the 6tn day (17th of June 2015), WES sent me a soft copy of my evaluation report - that's Evaluation completed. Thank you WES and I will recommend WES to anybody without fear of contradictions.

My university sent them degree and transcript, they accepted degree but declined transcript. They rally, need to learn how to offer better service and guidance. For any sensible organization it's more than sufficient if they get confirmation from two places. But they are strictly stuck with their rigid procedure. I promised myself that if I had good service with WES then I would post something on here. I submitted my application at the beginning of May with WES Canada to get my skills assessed for immigration. I straight away starting organising for the institutions to send my transcripts over to WES - I had to organise for my university where I completed my degree and a professional institution where I completed my masters. The university was quite efficient and had my transcript over to WES within a week, the professional institution took a little over a month. Upon receiving everything WES began my assessment and rejected my university transcript as there were some credits that I had received for some university subjects completed in South Africa.
Then began the big challenge of trying to get South Africa to send my transcripts. This proved almost impossible with not being able to get anyone to respond to my request via email and phone and not being able to organise a courier being outside of the Country. This process took a little over 1 and a half months - overall the hold up was by my institution's not WES. I then finally received an email that WES had received everything and that my report would be ready within 2 weeks. 2 days later my report was finished early! They were very helpful when I phoned them and found the whole process to be professional. What I can suggest though is to ensure you get onto your institutions as soon as possible to get your transcripts sent over and to make sure that you have included everything in your application.

Several attempts later I started to get nervous about my order, tried to cancel my transaction but no such option on the website. Faxed in my cancellation and a few days later got an email - my account has been credited minus a $20 restocking fee. Not so much as a courtesy call. On the 27th of May 2015, the original transcript and copy of my niece's diploma from Lagos State University in Nigeria was sent for evaluation to the World Education Services. On the 1st of June, WES sent an email that they had sent the documents to Lagos State University for verification. On the 10th of June, WES was contacted by phone to find our the status of the verification, but the automatic answering service referred us to their customer service email. So, on the 10th of June, (two weeks ago) we send an email requesting to know if they had sent the document by email or by regular mail. Up 'til this time, there was no response.
Once you pay your money, WES does not respond to you and does not do the work they are paid to do. If WES was interested in verification of documents in a timely manner, they should have sent the materials electronically since they know that mails to Nigeria could take months; but they do not care. If you ever address the WES to evaluate your diploma, it will take you forever to get it. Mine has been pending for a month so far. Status is the evaluation changes every day from "waiting for the verification" to "in progress" and vice versa. When I call them, they say that they have sent a request to University, however the university never gets it. There must be something wrong in the process. I am just curious why the hell WES was chosen as a primary evaluation center for applying to Canada?! Seriously, can give 0 stars to the review?... 1 star is too much for them.

I wish I had read the reviews on WES before handing over my money. This is by far the worst experience in my immigration process ever. I sent all the requested documents after being instructed by them that my qualifications were accessible, then more information was requested and at extra cost. This was sent, after 3 months of back and forth they then told me they could not assess my diploma after all. Still waiting on a refund. It is virtually impossible to actually contact them and if you do manage to all you will get is an automated no - reply email. How the Canadian government can actually list this company as one of two to use is beyond me. They clearly are not aware of the thousands of complaints about WES. My best advice to anyone reading this is the same as most other reviews, DO NOT USE WES.

Complete waste of time and money! I find it hard to believe that WES is referred by most educational institutions. They do not follow their turnaround time for completing reports, and communicating with them is nearly impossible. Let it be noted that this is NOT a cheap service, it is NOT a simple service, people's future education are depending on the service they are offering! They should provide a much much better customer support... After an hour of holding music, I was then "helped" by a rude and uninformed operator, that was obviously NO help at all.
After one month of waiting time for my evaluation, none of my reports arrived at their destination. I know that the post office loses things, but you can't expect me to believe that all 4 reports were lost. Overall, it was not an expert service at all, they discarded a full year of my overseas education, took too long to complete my evaluation, claimed that they mailed it out but all 4 reports were "lost" in the mail and had to be resent, and they provide NO customer support at all. The document mysteriously disappeared and my account was never updated. I complained to WES and was asked to fax a copy which I did to both the US and Canada fax numbers on 19th April 2015. This document was delivered to WES on 30th April 2015. My account is still not updated and no action looks imminent. Efforts to call the company have been fruitless since the phone is perpetually on answer machine.
Now it looks that I may miss university admission as I do not have a credential assessment report. I have read a lot of complaints from other applicants. I need to know, is WES really a serious professional and learning company? How should an international company based in US and Canada that is supposed to be an epitome of efficiency be worse that a company in the rural Africa? Is there monitoring by US state department on this company given the several complaints from international applicants?

After sending my transcript to WES for evaluation I tried to confirm if it had been received. They ask me to pay for the fee in amount of $152 for document by document before they can process my evaluation. I paid the fee and was expecting them to send completed evaluation to my recipient. To my surprise they never did and was instead asking for additional documents. They also said that verification of the transcript has been sent to my school since Jan 2015. I called my school to know why they did not respond to WES confirmation request. To my astonishment, I was told that they did not receive any confirmation request from WES.
Two months ago, I check my status and was requested to submit copies of credentials. I thought my status has been updated, that what they now need are copies of my credentials. I immediately sent it to them, I then got an email 3 days later that I still need to upgrade my evaluation from document by document to course by course and that I have to pay additional fee of $100. Initially, I ignored the email, but owing to the fact that the deadline of admission is closing, I had no choice than to pay. I made the payment immediately hoping I would get my evaluation done as soon as possible, only to be told I still need confirmation and transcript for the additional document I submitted. NO WES! NO WES! Dear International Students/Clients of WES: I’m one of YOU. I’m one of the thousands of the VICTIMS of the POOR SERVICE of WES. I've read and heard tons of complaints about the poor service of WES and decided to share my thoughts about the service and what we need to do to prevent future clients from being the next victims.
First, when I used the evaluation service I thought that I did something wrong while sending the required documents but I didn’t. I carefully read (I don’t remember how many times I read it but at least 15 times for sure) the instruction concerning documents needed to evaluate from Kazakhstan. More importantly, as all of you, I PLAYED THE ROLE OF CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT OF WES. In fact, I served myself, I emailed myself, I called myself because WES just IGNORED ME FOR THREE WEEKS.
I called them so many times that I memorized each word of the man on the voice machine. Every time I mailed them with a little hope that I would get responses for my questions. Every time I checked my status on the website with hope that it was updated. I’M SURE THAT YOU ARE FAMILIAR WITH FEELINGS THAT I FELT.
After all these fruitless actions, I realized that I needed to do something. I promised myself that AT LEAST I WOULD NOT ALLOW WES TO VICTIMIZE ONE OF MY FRIENDS by suggesting they not use the WES Evaluation Service. HOWEVER, by doing research on the internet I figured out that THE NUMBER OF DISSATISFIED CUSTOMERS IS HUGE ENOUGH TO DO SOMETHING MORE. I understood that I’m not alone, which gave me confidence that WE CAN STAND FOR OUR RIGHTS. It gave me hope that WE CAN RESTORE RESPECT FOR CUSTOMERS. It gave me hope that WE CAN COMPENSATE OUR TIME, MONEY, and ENERGY WE WASTE because of the poor service of WES.
FINALLY, I HAVE A SUGGESTION: LET’S WRITE DOWN OUR EXPERIENCE ON FACEBOOK PAGE OF WES AND POST & REPOST OUR REAL EXPERIENCES WITH WES AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE TO MAKE OUR VOICE TO BE HEARD. I believe that it’s our first step to succeed. Dear students/wes customers - If you are really interested in positive changes and want to contribute to them, you must not ignore this message. I’m sure you know what is being ignored :) So, good luck to US! See you on FB.

I confirmed with my university that those documents were accurate and had all the stamp and signatures for them to be considered genuine. I had to wait more than 45 mins every single time to contact them. If at all I was able to reach them, a very, very rude response is all I got. They refused to even listen to me and said we can't help any further. Having just one week in hand to meet my application deadline, I suffered a great deal. I am also a victim of this WES nonsense. I paid $203 and submitted my credential for evaluation and requested my institute to forward them the Transcripts. I got the confirmation that the required transcripts have been sent through international registered mail. I wrote to WES to confirm if they received my transcripts. They replied that they received all my documents.
Few days later I received an email from WES with my application status set back to "Awaiting Documents" from "Evaluation in Progress". I wrote them an email to understand what was going on, and they replied with this text below: "Please be advised although documents have been received. Some of your documents have not been submitted in order for us to proceed."
I kept writing to them to ask for the exact information, but they refuse to say what document is missing. I tried to call them but the voice message said the minimum wait time to be answered is 45 mins, the first time in my lifetime to hear such. I applied on Dec. 23 2014 and till date still don't know anything about my application. Further email for past many week was never replied.
I think WES is not worthy to be on CIC website, they get trusted because of that but once they receive your payment they treat you like **. Guys, I suggest we should all post our complaints on their facebook page. I am sure they may want to clean up their mess by deleting all the complaints but we keep re-posting it until they start treating candidates right.

I waited a long time to receive the report but nothing was sent. I complained more than 15 times with no response. And then I called. They answered after 52 minutes and the representative said that they haven't sent the report because I wrote a partial mailing address. I told her that I filled all the cells in the contact information page. I wrote the country name, the city name, the district name, the street name, my name and my phone number, and asked her "what else should I need to add?" She was very rude and hang out. I sent my original mark sheets for evaluation to WES in the month of June. The Sardar Patel University, Gujarat, India prepared the transcripts and sent them to WES. We never got the evaluation so far. On their 3rd request, we sent the original documents and mark sheets. As of this date, I have STILL NOT received my original documents back NOR the evaluation which has been paid for in the amount of $189.00. As well as not getting my documents back I lost the position that was offered to me pending their evaluation.
I am very disappointed and find that WES is not very dependable or helpful. This has already been paid for and I am still very interested in getting my original documents returned to me. Any help you can give to resolve this matter will be appreciated.

I had no choice but to use WES, as SOPHAS, the online public health application system requires all foreign transcripts to be sent there for verification. While instructions on how and where to send your transcripts are unclear, it seems as though every time a call is made to the help desk, you get a wait time of 50 minutes or more. It's unacceptable. My application was put "on hold" for two weeks without my knowledge of it, and so while I have been sitting at home thinking my evaluation should be done and sent to SOPHAS any day now, it has simply been sitting at WES gathering dust.
Today I called the help desk to ask what could be done about this given I was not informed and the answer I got was to send an email via the website which will be looked at within 72 hours. I asked if there was anyone I could speak to given this matter was now urgent and WES was clearly at fault, but no, there wasn't. I am bitterly disappointed and will be writing to SOPHAS about my experience, recommending that they should use another company for evaluations in future. The worst part? The application costs 252 dollars. 252 dollars for terrible service, terrible accountability and absolutely no communication about the status of your application. Avoid at all costs.

I advised them 2 weeks ago that the university will send them same documents as the ones I already submitted, so that they have it ready and just should wait to verify the documents I submitted when they receive the certified copies of my university, because I have to get my transcripts evaluated by COB 22 January 2015 to get admitted to Rutgers University.
On the morning of 19 January 2015 the certified copies were received by WES. I kept trying to call them since yesterday and was on hold for hours until I was able to talk to someone in their agency. The person who answers the phone was very unhelpful and unprofessional, she advised that it will take at least a 7 business days to complete it, although another person at the agency promised me 2 weeks ago that it will be ready and once they have the certified copies from the university and verify it, they were going to finalize it shortly.
I repeated so many times to them every time I called that I have to meet the deadline and now if I do not get it done by close of business day tomorrow, I will miss the deadline, which is unfair after working on all my documents for more than 2 months.

I had a terrible experience with WES. They lack professionalism to the core. After being paid their fees they just go to sleep. After I requested my Uni to send my transcript to WES, WES sends me an email that the transcript issued by my institution is not verified so they are putting my evaluation on hold till a copy of the transcript they claim to be unverified is verified by the institution whose transcript the claim is not verified replies to with a written verification. My email to them that my Uni is not just sleeping around replying to such nonsense just yields a repeat of earlier email. Does anyone have a recommendation on how I can take WES on legally because they deceived me and DEFRAUDED ME?

They did not even send the verification request and after I ask them to let me know the address to which it was sent, they never got back with me. Further attempts to contact them have proven futile. They make it so difficult for you to talk to anybody in management and totally refuse to reason. They never answer your phone calls and if they do, they simply refer you to their website to submit an email request. When you call and they don't feel like answering your questions, they simply disconnect the phone call. They only answer phone calls after 1pm, and when you finally get through, it's after 2pm. Let's hope they don't end the call, because their call center closes at 2pm. The only thing that is prompt about them is the automated response for sending an email to them. But please don't hold your breath, you will never get a respond regarding your questions and or concerns.

WES has a very poor customer service communication as it takes a long time to get any feedback. Even I got it, it didn't solve my problem - no tangible solution was provided. WES US & CANADA operates like two companies. There is no platform where I could translate my US equivalency to that of Canadian. All efforts to fill application form on WES Canada was futile as I kept getting pop up message that I have applied through WES US before but no straight through process could lead to achieving what I needed.
WES seems to me as more interested in ripping people of their money instead of really achieving quality solutions for people. Overall I feel the service, especially customer experience of WES I have have been poor and wish other companies could be authorized for this same service they provide so I could refer to them for my needs.

After the several re-sends, their first evaluation report came out in March after my schools of choice have closed admission. This report said, "evaluation cancelled, forged results". There was no contact from WES to say they have problems getting feedback from any of my universities attended, and they went ahead to publicize this, not only causing me indescribable trauma, but putting me in danger of loosing my job, as a copy was sent to my employer!
With my copy of the report, I had to travel to my school, where it was discovered that WES inquiries were sent to undergraduate rather than postgraduate school! The school then wrote clarifying the situation and re-send a copy of the transcript earlier sent, but WES will not have that as it was not sent through their "format". So we went back to sending and re-sending. As at today, my file is still "under review". The amount of money wasted - air flight to Nigeria, and school, courier services etc not to mention loosing admission, or the false labeling of forged result, could have been avoided if WES had contacted me with their difficulties! I mistakenly clicked the order several times but found there was server error on my computer or internet access. Anyway, WES charged and I couldn't get refund. I didn't even mail the required documents and WES didn't complete the evaluation. I don't understand how come they could charge a customer without completing their duties. I searched how to get refund on non-refund policy. There was no way to do it. Yes, using WES was my fault. But I would like to tell people not to use WES. Please, do not waste your money, time, and effort for WES.

Was told that it will take another week or I can cancel and take refund. I found another evaluator in US who provides in 2 days. Based on CS recommendation, I went ahead and cancelled WES report as it was still pending but was told that no money would be given back. RATHER they would CHARGE $30 more to process the cancellation request. I CANNOT BELIEVE that US authorities allow such a CHEAT Organization to EXIST. Its Horrible.

They are the worst. Trust me. They won't do anything about your time, money, and frustration. They simply don't care if you've gone through so much to get them what they "require", which is not fully specified, and they keep rejecting. I actually took the sealed official transcript (Spanish) by foot to their P.O. box to make sure they do the job the day after, and yet, they lost it! Can you believe that? They simply said: "we don't have your document". I lost my chance to be considered for Columbia University after spending so much money, and putting so much effort, because WES just took so long to evaluate my transcript.

Horrible service! Choose another service if allowed. That's the long story short for all those who do not have the patience to read the entire review. My experience with WES has been a nightmare. I started the application two months in advance just to be on a safe side for my admissions date. It's been two months and I am still going back and forth with my documents. They are prompt with the service, all right. I get an email immediately as soon as they get my documents and let me know if they are accepted or no. The problem is the documents are somehow just not good enough for them!
I have sent multiple copies of my degree certificates and my transcripts but they keep getting rejected. So I pick up the phone and decide to talk to them and ask them straightforward what is it they want. The customer service is another story. It takes 15 minutes to connect to them - anytime, any day! I try to call in the morning thinking it will be less busy, no use. I call around noon thinking now maybe they will pick up my call. But it somehow ALWAYS takes them 15 minutes to answer.
Once you do get connected, they are rude and arrogant and not at all helpful. All they do is repeat the same things either from the website or from the email that they have just sent you. They don't get the fact that I have already read it and need further insight, hence the call. I try asking for clarifications, I try twisting my questions. But the answers always remain stern and the same. My bad luck was that the colleges I am applying to won't accept anything except WES. So I am stuck here. But if you have a choice, please go for another service. This is too costly. Too time consuming. Too frustrating. I am already missed the priority deadline because of the disappointing process. Zero stars all the way! Since that is not allowed, I am giving it one.

The various customer service representatives were all rude and patronizing, giving me different excuses and downright lying to me each time. This company is stealing money and taking advantage of us! I needed an ICAP evaluation for my studies at Jagiellonian University in Krakow for application for PhD in Epidemiology this year. I paid $291 to WES for this service. Transcripts were sent from registrar and diploma photocopy from me exactly as requested by WES (transcripts signed and sealed by the Dean of Health Sciences Faculty at Jagiellonian University) and verified as received at WES. The first time I called, I was told the transcripts were photocopies, and not originals and therefore would not be accepted. When I contacted the registrar at Jagiellonian University, I was told that they were originals, signed and sealed by the Dean of Heath Sciences Faculty as stated above. When I called WES again, I talked to representative Mabinty ** (after being on hold for 30-40 minutes) who first told me that they were originals, but the envelope was not sealed. After continuing the conversation, she told me that they suspect I actually sent the transcripts because there is no evidence of an envelope from the University and the only envelope they have was the one I sent the diploma in. Finally, after a long conversation, she admitted that WES in fact could not find the envelope, and admitted they made an error.
Because of this, she agreed to send a confirmation request by email to Jagiellonian University that could be responded to by email, and could potentially resolve the problem in a matter of days. However, she explicitly told me she could send that email to my program's registrar, if I provided the email address and name. I sent the email address to her on Nov. 13th with the woman's name, email and phone number. I also alerted the registrar to expect the email, and then on Nov. 14th, sent an email to Mabinty to tell her that the registrar is waiting for the confirmation request. On the same day, I received an automatic email that said that the request was sent out, but it did not say to who or by what means. Having heard nothing, today (Nov. 19th) I called WES and talked to Mabinty again. She told me that in fact they are not allowed to send a confirmation request to a contact provided by a client, and that the contact I provided was just an alternative contact. She said they faxed the request to a fax number she would not give me and perhaps sent to a different email, which she would also not give me.
I requested to talk to her manager, and after being on hold 5-6 times, she hung up on me. I called back and talked to another woman who told me they had not sent the confirmation by fax (it was rejected supposedly), and that they sent it by snail mail and email, but could not tell me where. I asked both women several times to talk to their managers and were told they were not available, and finally, that I could leave a message, which I did, twice (not expecting an answer). Now I am 11 days from my graduate school deadline and am certain that this will not be resolved on time. This means losing $291 to WES, an entire year of my career and delay of plans just because of their incompetence.

I have been working at a public college since 2009. I have a diploma from Russia (it was evaluated by ** office in 1994), and a Masters Degree from FIU, Miami, FL. To find out my eligibility to teach some college level courses, my employer suggested that I get my diploma re-evaluated by WES because the previous evaluation is old and it was not done for employment purposes. I have applied and paid for the evaluation on October 16th, 2013, $432. I have overnighted notarized copies of my original diploma, and a simple photocopy of my marriage license to prove the name change. WES has not accepted the notarized copy of the diploma, but strangely accepted the notarized copies of the Hungarian naturalization, Hungarian and English translations of my Russian diploma, and the simple photocopy of my marriage license. The naturalization and translation documents are threaded through (with the colors of the National flag) the Russian diploma by Hungarian Ministry of Education and the Hungarian Translation Bureau, and each document is sealed with an unbroken seal and attached stamps.
After being on hold for hours for two days, I finally had a chance to talk to a representative at WES who stated that I must send them the originals. I explained to him that my diploma was issued in 1991 in Russia, and it would be almost impossible to replace it if it gets lost. He insisted to mail it to them with the promise that they will ship it back to me. I have overnighted the package, paid for insurance, and waited patiently for the evaluation, which did not happen. After a few days, I contacted WES again to find out why my account is still not updated. The response was that WES does not accept any original documents other than documents issued by Ministries of Education. I pointed out that the naturalization is from the Hungarian Ministry of Education, but they refused to accept it.
Once I learned that, I asked WES to cancel my order, return the originals and notarized copies to me with two-day shipping I paid for and refund the rest of my money because other companies do accept notarized copies. I was told that there is no refund and the documents are WES property. I explained to the representative that I fulfilled all their requests for providing the documents, and I have recorded every email and conversation through Screencast to prove it, and according to their website they do return the originals. Then, the rep changed her mind and told me that they will charge a $50 cancellation fee, which I have to agree to. I have recorded both my voice and email response that I agree to the cancellation fee only if they mail back my diploma in two days and refund the remaining balance immediately.
As of today, 11/8/2013, I have not received my refund nor my documents. According to their website, everything was returned to me last week, but the email I received from them today states that all academic records on file have been discarded. So far, I am out of more than $500 (including shipping and insurance fees), I don't have any of my original documents, and my correspondence with WES has been limited through emails on its website because the emails they send back are through "autosender," which customers cannot reply to. When I log in to the website, my status is changing according to their responses without any results.
Since this experience, I have searched WES, and I found 117 of the same complaints with the Better Business Bureau. I have filed a complaint with WES' licensing organization, NACES and the Better Business Bureau.

Since then, despite following up with them so many times, I always get an auto response letter in the mail. When I call, there is always an IVR recording. There is no human attendant on the phone that I can reach.
I went to their Downtown Toronto office personally. They did not open the door. There was a sign outside their office that they do not have any walk-in service. It was completely useless arguing with her, explaining that I have a deadlines, that the documents are original with all the stamps. Basically, they don't care, they want to be in compliance with their bureaucracy and of course getting your money. I've called to a different company. They picked up the phone in 4 seconds. Nice girl on the phone said that apostille is not required for evaluation, and I just need to submit the original documents and the translations. I just hope that my diploma will not be lost.
WES stinks big time. They will find a way to make you suffer. I don't understand why are they recommended by universities and I will certainly put all efforts change that. As a faculty member working with international students, it is important that we have some kind of evaluation process for students coming from diverse educational systems. There are a number of evaluation services to use but some of our students and new foreign faculty who needed to have their credentials evaluated (state regulations) informed us of this particular agency. As a member of faculty who has British qualifications, I decided to test the service as I honestly could not believe the service was as bad as some were informing us.
Unfortunately, now from my own experience, I can completely understand our students and two faculty members' frustrating experience. I paid for a course by course evaluation of my qualifications which amounted to four degrees including my PhD. However my first degree was carried out in the 1980s at a then polytechnic now turned university. That university informed WES that no transcripts were available for thirty years ago and they would supply a diploma supplement and other information in lieu of the transcript. My other degrees had transcripts as required and a doctoral conferral letter. All of these had to be paid for by myself so please be aware that you may incur extra costs.
WES refused to give me a course by course evaluation because of the letter sent by that polytechnic-university and has said that they will only do a document by document evaluation which is not applicable for new faculty members or incoming students.
I informed them on the telephone and via email every day for the last 10 days to simply ignore that one undergraduate degree as I had another undergraduate degree with a transcript. It was essentially less work for them; they only had to evaluate my three degrees now not four. They simply refused even though I told them I was the one that had supplied them with the information about my degrees and that I had paid for a course to course evaluation.
The customer service was awful. The lady simply repeated over and over again, "We cannot do a course to course evaluation." When I asked how I could remedy the situation. I was told to re-pay again and re-start the process. I remained very polite on the telephone as I had read other reviews about the treatment given but I noted that I spoke to the same woman every day for 10 days. I am not sure how many staff members are working there but I thought it certainly beats the odds of coincidence to receive the same telephone operator. I believe she is the research associate. I am still waiting for some documentation from them to come through - anything.
Interestingly, I noticed that every time I called, the information online would change from received documentation to waiting for documentation. It would change every two days. I was also told 7 out of the last 10 times that I called that a supervisor would call me back to give me more details and/or update me and no one ever did.
I suggest that frustrated clients should write to the Directors and Research Associates. If you access LinkedIn, you can find all the relevant personnel listed there. You can find their names listed on their website listed under World Education news and reviews. The Director also has a blog called Dr. Education. Simply do a little research and take the various forms of recourse.
All of us who work with international students understand that you feel you are in a vulnerable position in such situations. However, please continue to write your legitimate complaints online and to those concerned in order to help future students.
As regards faculty members with international qualifications, at all costs, avoid this service if possible. I understand that some universities and colleges insist on going through WES. It may be better to ask them to request your qualifications through the service rather than attempt to do it yourself as you may end up in the same situation as many students here. These services are unregulated which is unfortunate.

I'm from the UK, so there should be very little problem translating my transcripts. I have two degrees. Having sent WES every kind of supporting documentation, including the expense of paying for two transcripts to be sent sealed from both UK universities, WES sent me my evaluation fairly promptly (surprisingly!). However, it seemed WES had no difficulty evaluating my first degree, awarded me 7 US credits for every 20 UK credits and all seemed fine there. However, on my second degree with Master's credits for PGCE, instead of the 120 UK credits (or 60 ECTS), plus 30 UK credits for NQT year = 42 US credits or 30 ECTS credits or 52 US credits if we include the 30 Master's credits for NQT year, WES decided to give me 24 US credits. They initially stated (yes, they actually emailed me back) that I had only done a part time course (when in fact it was full time). They stated that a PGCE course is only worth 24 credits in the US (where they got this information from I don't know?) when my local big league university states 37 US credits for the basic 1 year course and 52 credits for their 2 semester course with Master's credits.
Comparing like course for like, the course I undertook appears to have very similar components to the 52 credits course, but WES insists that it is the same as the basic 1 year course and they will only give me 24 credits for it. I contacted the BBB and WES have so far simply written back saying that a 120 UK credit course is worth 30 US credits instead of the 7 US credits per 20 UK credits they awarded me for my BA degree, now they have changed the goal posts to suit their purposes and now say that 20 UK credits are only worth 5 US credits. But not only that, they then state that because they say a Master's degree is worth 30 credits in the US (but you will recall my local university require 52 for a Masters in Education) that they cannot give me 30 credits and somehow have come up with a figure of 24? Basically, not only is WES not acknowledging the credits awarded me on my actual university transcript, they have conjured a figure totally out of thin air a figure that doesn't relate to anything.
According to WES' evaluation, I do not even have a basic teaching qualification. My local education department will not accept 24 credits and therefore either my career as a teacher is over (I have over 6 years teaching experience behind me in some top schools in the UK) or I will have to take more classes, which I should not have to for a mistake WES have made and refuse to correct. WES continued to state in their response to me through the BBB that I paid them for their option and their opinion is that I should receive 24 credits instead of 42 US credits (or 52 if you include the NQT credits) and that universities can take it or leave it. The fact is the universities take WES' evaluation very seriously and I don't appreciate having to argue my case each time with them stating WES' evaluation is wrong. The fact is I did not pay WES to give me an opinion. I paid WES good money to translate my actual transcript/course and they have not done that.
Currently, they have not responded to my refusal of their response to the BBB. According to BBB's own website, if cases are not resolved, they are closed and I would presume nothing will be done against WES to either ensure they change their mistake and award me the full credits I'm due or refund me. They refuse to refund. I would appreciate any information from anyone who has successfully taken WES to court.

I had a horrible experience with WES, strangely, recommended by the university to which I would like to apply. The customer service is almost nonexistent. The required documents are a mess. They ask you to send them a copy of your word-to-word translation, and then you should beg your university to send to WES an official transcript in a sealed envelope. Obviously, my university refused to pay for a postal service and physically send the documents even if I provided them with stamps because this was not their business. They gave me my official transcript after my family obviously paid all necessary fees (it's not free in my country to request a certified copy). Then I called them to make sure that if I send them the sealed envelope (previously received from my family) with the official transcript inside, everything would be okay.
Obviously, some lady told me that they will not accept such form of shipment (indirect), that the University must send this document directly. Okay, but one week earlier, one lady told me that even I could send them a sealed envelope; the condition was to have an official transcript in a sealed envelope. I was so fed up with their service that I gave up and asked them for money back. Probably in my one week experience, I made 12 calls to them. Every time, to talk with the representative, you have to wait 20 minutes. Each lady changed the version of the procedures to follow. There was always some problem. I only hope they will give me my money back. I do not recommend WES. Their "great service" is based on you work, because you have to provide them everything ready on a silver platter.

I requested the World Education services to evaluate my credentials course by course at that time their requirements were to have all documents translated and certified.
I mailed the original documents to WES for the respective evaluation. I paid the fee required for the evaluation and for the extra copy to be mailed to NYC DCAS. I received my Evaluation copy. I passed the Exam but I was not selected from the list. In 1999, I got accepted for Lab Microbiologist position at NYC DEP and in 2007, I applied for the Industrial Hygienist Exam. I passed the test because I met the requirement and I was selected for this position at New York City Department of Environmental Protection as Industrial Hygienist.
In 2012, I applied for another test for Assistant Chemist at NYC DCAS, but I was not qualified because I did not meet the Education requirements which were 16 credits of chemistry. I appealed the Exam test results because my original transcript has 16 credits Chemist. My Union legal representative advises me to contact WES again to discuss my transcript evaluation. I contacted WES with my Evaluation Reference number, but they refuse to retrieve my old Evaluation and they request a new transcript from my college and new application, which I submitted the application online and pay the fee required again for the evaluation and for the copy to be sent to NYC DCAS.
Due to the unstable condition in Egypt, it took a long time for Cairo University to mail WES the new transcript, and an official letter stated that Cairo University Faculty of Agriculture is follow the semester system. In February 2013, I received the new evaluation and WES evaluated my transcript different than the first evaluation. They did not evaluate my Chemist credits the same as on my college transcript. For Chemistry, my transcript has 16 credits on the 1998 evaluation. WES evaluated it as 12 credits and on the 2013 evaluation, WES evaluated it as 14 credits.
In March 2013, I appealed the evaluation and explained to WES that my Chemist credits on my college transcript has the lab credits included, but in Egypt they don’t separate the Lab on the transcript and since my college follow the semester system, I should get the same credit evaluation as on my transcript especially for all science classes. On March 14, 2013, I received a letter from the Director of Evaluations at WES that stated my report was reviewed and no change will be made to the evaluation report. New information about foreign programs becomes available, and WES changes their methods of grade and credit conversions. What are the new methods and the new program need it to evaluate same college transcript?
As far as I know, my credits did not change on both transcripts. Many people trusted WES to evaluate their documents; even New York City Department of Citywide Administrative Services considers them as professional office and includes them on the approval evaluation list. How many people lost the opportunity to get hired in professional jobs in NYC or in the USA because WES was not accurate on their evaluation? WES is killing the human rights in the United States. All these years, WES is in business destroying people’s future because they are not professional and they don’t have the accurate tool to evaluate other college credits.
How many people got misled by WES? I am wondering why they have a PO Box and not an actual address for people to visit their office; even on their website, there are no staff names. They don’t want to be suing because they are aware that the services they provide are not accurate. The next step, I will be contacting the NYC TV news to get involved in this case to stop WES from destroying more people’s future.

After dealing with all their bureaucracy, I have had them send the transcripts to WES. The first day the status showed "received documents, in evaluation process." I was relieved because I had to deal a lot with Indian university bureaucracy. However, my joy was limited to a day. The very next day, they changed the status back, "waiting for required documents." At this point I was losing my patience.
All the while they maintain that we can check the status on the website, when the website is so vague; and then we eventually call to find out more, there is always an inevitable 15 minutes wait period. I finally got through customer service and a lady there said the transcripts were not sealed by the university. Now, how would one know it wasn't sealed by the university? Did they call the university and verify? The customer service girl just said they were not sealed by the university.
I can understand bureaucracy in the third-world country, but to expect it here in USA is baffling. I don't want to deal with this anymore. Had I seen the reviews on the consumer forum, I would have never ever sought your services. However, I called back my university and they said that that is how they are sending transcripts now. Probably a couple of years it was different but now the format has changed. They even said their contact numbers are on the envelope they sent the transcripts; if the evaluation office has any doubts, they can call them and clarify. WES, however, didn't want to do that. Instead, it was so easy to just change the status on the application and sit on my money!
This is very bad service. I will never use their services again and wouldn't recommend this unprofessional place to anyone!

One could expect that the World Education Services should have no problem with using proper fonts in foreign language info they put on their website. Apparently, it is a problem for them so I would not trust them with anything important.

I needed course by course evaluation to apply for my Masters and I applied through WES Canada in Toronto. I sent my documents as they requested and waited for a while. I received incomplete documents, so I called them and at the same time emailed them. They just asked me to check the website. I had to either call them or email them and nobody knew their job to guide me correctly and kept telling me incomplete documents and had no answer when I asked them what was incomplete. After 2-3 months, they said I sent them the translated documents and they needed them in my mother language as well. So, I had to pay again to ask them from the university back home. By the time I got the evaluation from them, I missed the deadline for submitting my documents and missed this year. I strongly do not recommend this office to anybody.

I submitted credits from Sweden (gymnasium) which is equivalent to the first two years of college in the US as you can go directly to medical/law/dental school, etc. when completed. World Education Services kept coming back to me and stating that I had not graduated yet from high school (totally wrong), that I had not received a diploma (these are not given in Sweden, only a completed grade). Then they start writing to me about the wrong school (another school 800 miles away), then the wrong country (Gymnasiet in Norway) and in the end, it was a total and utter farce. They had wrong evaluations, wrong school, were talking about the wrong country and had no idea between high school, college or university in Sweden. World Education Services is totally and utterly incompetent and it appears they just cut and paste information from many different students and then get it all mixed up in the end. Do not use this service or you will be deeply disappointed.

Anger does not even begin to describe how I feel about this fraudulent company! No evaluation was completed even though I've paid for the service in full. Their terms and conditions are not clear as well as their application process. I made multiple unsuccessful attempts to contact someone else besides customer representative. Managers are never available to talk or discuss any issues that you might have with them and in order for your phone call to be answered, you have to wait on the phone for 20 to 30 minutes every time you call. Customer representatives are rude and careless, so as the company itself. Do not send any of the original paperwork to them under any circumstances, you won't see it back! Try to avoid the services of this company at all costs!

I applied to graduate school in the U.S. a few years ago. One of my degrees was from the UK. It took a very look time for them to do the translation, but they did it. I chose the option that led me order additional copies, which I sometimes need for job applications. I paid a higher fee for the first copy, followed by lower fees for additional copies. I am now applying to jobs. I had to pay the first time fee again for additional copies! I also received an evaluation that is completely different from my first! The credit hours are totally off and my grades have changed! What credibility do these people have at all? Why is my report different? They should have the same report on file.

I contacted them before having my university send all documentation, and asked that they confirm they would be able to recognize my honor grade (magna cum laude) degree in Engineering. They did, verbally, assure me they would put on the evaluation everything that was on my original documents. So, I paid them $200 and the expenses to have the documents sent to them directly from Europe. Not surprisingly, after I read all other complaints, they never bothered reading the original documents, including one in plain English, which repeats that my overall degree grade is 110/110 (the maximum) plus the honor. They ignored all my complaints, refused to have a supervisor on the line to talk to me directly, ignored my complaint with the BBB, and of course refused to reimburse my payment and to send the original documentation to me, so I could have it evaluated by a different company.
Who regulates these companies anyway? Can anybody just set themselves up as 'evaluation experts', and con as many foreign students as they want? Why do US schools just keep using them, instead of warning applicants of their scams?

World Education Services was totally disappointing. First of all, customer service is ridiculous. The instructions of the phone and e-mail communications contradicted what was on the official website. It took my university's director to call them up so that they listen.
Then they screwed up and did not add all the course credits. Both my self and my university tried to urge them to make corrections, and they couldn't care less. Who blames them? They already had cashed in. Please note my university rates top 5 in the UK. Afterwards, they never replied to my e-mails. And the crappy evaluation not even clarifies US equivalence. I feel short-changed. WES stands for what enormous **.

I had my transcripts evaluated and everything went smoothly. After a few months, I decided to apply for a license for another state and I tried asking them on how to do this because there are some additional reports that I needed. I was willing to pay good money to get this done. I spoke with them on the phone and the lady was hurrying up the conversation and said that she needed to attend to other customers.
The simple question I had has not been answered for months after I contacted them through their contact page 4 more times. They have not responded other than to "go to this page to request additional reports". The problem is that that page does not even give me an option to order the supplement reports that I need. I also have to go to another agency and send in my official transcripts again (which is hard for my case).
This is a company with unprofessional people. If you need simple evaluations, then go with them but do not expect them to respond when you have trouble with their system.

They are very bad for coming up with random excuses regarding documents. They do not make things clear. They do not do anything, yet they charge money in the very beginning. There is no refund policy for making the mistake of choosing them and allowing them the opportunity to get business through me. I wasted so much time and it resulted to mental stress. I also lost money spent on sending documents back and forth to different countries.

I came to USA in the year 2000 and I brought all my transcripts and my bachelor diploma with me; they were translated into the English language and certified for all the necessary institutions in Peru, my country.
In 2002, I requested the World Education services to evaluate my credentials. Their requirements at that moment were to have all documents translated and certified. I emailed the original documents to the WES for the respective evaluation. At that moment, I applied to the Kean University and they received the evaluation from WES, also I receive a copy of that evaluation. A few months ago, I applied to the NCA&T University in North Carolina and I requested a copy of that evaluation, and I received it in a sealed enveloped as it should be.
Today, I tried to request another copy of my evaluation because I am trying to apply to the University of North Carolina in Greensboro; I really was disappointed because the WES disable my option to request another copy. I called the WES customer service to ask why they blocked my option to request another copy, the representative stated that I need to resend the documentation again for evaluation, but this time it needs to be emailed from the university where studied. I understand their policy has been changed because many people falsified documents but this is not my case. If their policy about how they accept the documents has been changed, they should take effect from the moment it was released and should affect the entire document from that date and not backward.
I sent my documents for evaluation in 2002 and they didn't request the document to be sent from the University as a requirement, and that was the reason I emailed them my original documents. My question is why they changed the status of my evaluation if they were already evaluated and which should already be a closed case. They don't state that the documents need to be re-evaluated in any part of the WES webpage.

I ordered a document by document evaluation from WES because my admissions advisor told me that's what I needed.
I obtained a bachelor's degree from Jamaica and WES deemed it non-accredited. I found their evaluation to be invalid so I did my research and found that my credentials were in fact accredited here in the US. I forwarded the information to WES and they claimed that they were re-evaluating my credentials. They kept sending me emails that the product I had ordered was not sufficient for entry in school here and I kept saying no.
Within a week after re-evaluating, they still found my credentials to be non-accredited despite the fact that it was disproven.
All of a sudden, they were basing their decision on the contents of the University Council of Jamaica's website and totally disregarding the proven facts provided on the higher learning website here in the states.
WES is concerned about getting more money for their incompetence than getting to the facts. I called them several times and I was told repeatedly that the only way I can speak with a supervisor is through email. A representative from WES told me that If I had ordered the upgraded product, then the outcome probably would have changed.
I am totally dissatisfied with the way my situation was handled. I find them to be incompetent, unreliable and dishonest. I will not be keeping quiet about this.

They are taking advantage of immigrants from developing nations. Their staff is very unprofessional. I have spent $461 in the process of having my documents evaluated by WES but since August 2010 when I paid $190 for evaluation of my transcripts, I never got any job done. After missing the Fall enrollment from Morgan University on Baltimore and also missing spring 2011 enrollment because of the delay of the transcripts, I decided to cancel the evaluation process because this company is not clear in its transactions.
I asked them to return my money and my original documents, which were sent directly to them from my undergraduate colleges in Africa. Surprisingly, WES has asked me to pay again $50 for cancelling. Instead of refunding my $261 paid directly to them and $200 paid to DHL for shipments and compensate me for the stress caused, I am asked to pay again. I don't think this can be tolerated in a free nation like the USA. For how long can people be taken for granted? The universities need to be aware that WES is not helpful to people with foreign transcripts enrolling in the universities.
This caused $461 directly spent in the process. I failed to enroll in the university for the year 2010-2011. Lastly, I experienced emotional stress and my plans were disturbed.
