Be careful when dealing with for-profit universities. They use the quarter hour/24-7 day a week method to their advantage. I attended both course requirements to satisfy the attendance for my 5th week; however, Strayer stated I didn't log into my class during my 5th week to satisfy the 50%+. So, they kept just enough monies to pay for 75% of one course and leaving the other class unpaid. They love to hang balances over the head of students that chose to withdraw from their program. If you qualify for the financial aid max, you will or will soon become the victim of their scam! Try APU! Their tuition is $350/credit hour and not $1,750/course. Don't fall for the 4.5 credited hour scam, because when you wake-up and choose to transfer out, that extra 1.5 hours doesn't mean anything to a real university.

I forgot about it until a week after getting the first letter in the mail. I got another one stating that I owe this money and that if I didn't pay it, I would be taken to collections. Remind you that work paid for my education until last spring in which I took out a student loan. When I talked to the girl on the phone Monday, she stated that it was because I was issued a check that I should have never received. It was a refund check. I had no idea what she was talking about because if I had an outstanding balance, I shouldn't have my diploma.

She took the time and looked into it and called me two days later and said that I do owe this money and that I have to pay it. I talked to her manager to get clarification and am waiting. There is no reason why I owe this money to them. My student loans should account for the refund that was given to me because they said that’s where the refund came from. I am enraged with the fact that they threatened to put me into collections for their mistake and I am even more enraged that they are trying to get this money out of me when I am already paying it back in student loan payments.

Don’t blame anyone but yourself when things fall through! And if you’re relying on someone to hold your hand and tell you the classes you should take and in which order, you deserve top fail! Degree programs with course requirements are posted online in the official catalogs! Some people shouldn’t get degrees. Maybe this is the reason you don’t have one! Everything happens for a reason, so think about that the next time you want to run around bashing an organization for your shortcomings.

There were so many times that all we hear about are complaints and unsatisfactory experiences. But where are the good reviews? Why not tell others just how great of a service we have actually received or experienced. I am proud to be a Strayer graduate. I was given a chance to complete my degree after so many years and I am thankful that Strayer has not only provided me with confidence and an opportunity to complete that degree, but Strayer’s faculty and staff was also there with me each step of the way and made me feel like I was someone special. They believed in me! Thank you, Strayer!

In retrospect, I realize how naive I was to trust that they had my educational interests at heart. After 6-7 quarters of classes completed towards my Masters, I was hired back on for my old position. I tried to accommodate both at first but it was too difficult, so I decided to put my education on hold, only needing a few more quarters to complete. When it came time to begin paying off my loans, they were over $52,000 for approximately 6 quarters of education I received! That is 2.5 times what I paid for my undergraduate loans for a real education from a non-profit university. I have made my payments on time every time so far but the total owed still doesn't match up with the records I have. I've called Strayer several times and have gotten the runaround every time.

I've asked to speak to the Dean and have never been put in touch with them. After seeing a special on PBS recently about privatized loans and for-profit universities such as Strayer and University of Phoenix, I realized how this industry has become what the mortgage lending industry was a few years ago that caused our economic collapse. Luckily for current students, the federal government has stepped in to eliminate this direct private lending and the kick-backs that the "guidance counselors" were receiving, but that doesn't help my situation. I've consulted with a few local attorneys and they have some ideas we are pursuing so we will see what happens. My advice is stay away from all for-profit universities!

I have been going back and forth with them for two months now, trying to resolve this mess. I was coerced into signing a promissory note in order to even take my classes this semester. There was no way to resolve the issue in time as we were at the deadline so I went ahead and signed the note just to stay enrolled and protect my benefits. This too upset me greatly! Basically, I feel as if I have no recourse so I guess I just have to let them take this money out of my Pell Grant. This is a huge disappointment. I do not know how many of you out there are using your GI Bill but for those of you who are, you will understand how hard it is to live on those meager funds. Any extra help, such as a Grant, is a huge relief and then to have it consumed by such an evil entity, well it is simply awful! I've been told all different things by different staff members, that is when they bother to answer my inquiries at all. The VA sends me detailed documentation every quarter so I know that Strayer receives their payments in full, yet they still tell me they haven't received my spring semester payment. They are also still playing with my Pell Grant funds from winter semester! How is this possible?!

So today, I decided to log into my student account online just to see what was there. I was surprised to find that it shows two payments to me that I never received from back in April. Now I do not know if they took these payments and applied them to my supposed balance, but if they did, it would be nice if they were recorded that way! The detail shows they've issued three refunds to me while I've only received one.

I have given up hope on recovering funds for that (so called) remedial class but I do want the balance of my grant funds disbursed to me immediately. Though I am positive that they will find a way to make sure that doesn't happen. I'm at the point where I'm likely going to switch schools. The staff at Strayer clearly doesn't care about the students. It's a wicked money making machine and I wish I had done more research before enrolling there. We need to do something about these monsters! I had no idea how widespread their treachery was until I started investigating online. The comments from other students make my blood boil! How are they able to get away with this?! Is there any action we can take to make them be audited or have their VA accreditation revoked?! I just read an article stating that they only disburse 25% of student refunds! How is this allowed to go on? Aren't there regulations to prevent this type of thievery?! I would love to band together with other students (past and present) to fight against this. Please email me if you're in a similar situation. There must be some recourse for us. Sorry for the long winded post but I'm seriously at my breaking point.

Online classes through Strayer were the best option, so I decided to finish my education that way. I was very thankful for that opportunity to complete my degree in Information Systems from home. My biggest worry at the time was that I was not too aware of Strayers history and was wondering just how accredited they were. Needless to say, it is accredited and very accepted at many places. I graduated in 2010 and soon after found work in the educational system at a local college. I now have a chance to enter the military in higher ranking, or even as an officer because of the accredited education that Strayer has provided me. As I seek to pursue my graduate and postgraduate degrees, I will keep Strayer in mind as an option to further my education.

This is total **. These credits have been evaluated and accepted at multiple other regionally accredited universities. This issue was never brought to light before I started making payments, and there has been no offer to help by anyone at Strayer. I know that this college is a for-profit university. But regardless of my feelings, this is a poor business decision to not make a phone call and get the credit approved, so I can start going to school full-time with the 9-11 GI Bill until I graduate. Strayer if you are watching, look up my case and change this policy. Potential students, you should really make sure that everything is evaluated and approved before you start any classes. Do not trust people at this college. Make sure that the credits are posted on your account.

I've called him several times and never gotten a return call. What happened to putting your students first? My experience with Strayer has been a ride. I never gotten placed in my classes on time; it's always late, and there was always an issue with the paperwork on funding. I'm pissed, and I will not stop until something is done about Strayer University and how they treat and misuse the funds and their students' education.

I have recommended several of my friends and family members to Strayer. They have experienced the same level of satisfaction. None of them attend my campus and not all of them are in Georgia. I graduated recently and met so many other graduates from around the world. The programs are not easy, especially online courses. You have to have discipline, dedication and determination. The key element amongst the successful alumni and students of Strayer is a will to succeed. Determination! The tools to succeed are readily available (professors available for support, financial aid support staff, student services staff to assist with concerns and needs as well). Taking advantage of these and all other services the institution offers is what a Strayer student has to do in order to be successful.

After graduation in 2011, I am happy to say that my MBA has completely changed my life. I still attend high level meetings and offer opinions that are valued as a member of the Armed Forces Committee of the Hampton Roads Chamber of Commerce. I am a small business owner and a business consultant as well. My MBA coupled with the first hand, front line leadership I've obtained through the military has helped me become a successful business man! Strayer University is a huge part of who I am today.

When I spoke with the business office, I was advised the issue would be corrected in a timely manner and yet it hasn't. There seems to be a breakdown or misrepresentation of the how the process works. I have only three courses left to graduate in the Fall 2012. However, if I could do it all over again, I would not have chosen Strayer. The only beacon of light in this process is I have been fortunate enough to work with the Jacksonville, FL Campus dean who seems to truly care about the future of 'a Strayer student'. I did have several academic 'adventures' that will go hand-in-hand with the financial aid process. Either Strayer needs to obtain a stronger 'knowledge-based system', or more training needs to be implemented in training and empowering their employees.

I previously attended Capella University and wished I had completed my degree with an educational program that cared about efficiency. In reading all of the statements and comments of current and previous Strayer students, I am disappointed that such treatment of a person trying to obtain undergraduate and post-graduate education should be made into such a difficult process. Strayer should not punish students by withholding their financial aid for students just trying to obtain money. I am a single parent of three children, one who is also in college. And I need my refund to pay for his classes and to support my inability to work a part-time job until I finish school to support my family. My next stop is to contact Strayer’s corporate office and then to the Department of Education. Disappointed and frustrated.

When I got home, I realized that what she circled was from back in January and it was actually my account for spring classes with a negative of what I was being billed. A lying hoax is what this is. Strayer University now has a lawyer to deal with as I am now working with a JAG officer on this issue. Before they wiped the crap off of my account summary, I printed it all out. He has a copy and the VA was faxed it and a copy of the one that they tried to cover up. I honestly think that once this is all said and done, Strayer might lose their veterans.

As a school that claims "We fit your life," they sure haven't figured out what that means. Fitting my life would mean releasing my money in a timely manner, so that I can focus on my academics and not writing email after email with no response at all or a phone call full of excuses. I have had issues every term, but they have always managed to make it right. This time, however, their reasons for their decisions are completely unacceptable, unethical, and the worst business decisions I have ever seen. Let them continue to cater to the illiterates, who won't add to their graduation and retention rates. As for me, a 4.0 student, I am done.

The two classes that I was enrolled in were Economics and Accounting, which I felt at the time would be stressful for me to do because sometimes I have to work sixteen-hour shifts. After going on to the next semester and receiving two more classes, which I passed with an A and a B, during the winter semester, Strayer informed me in the spring that I am on academic financial aid suspension because I made an C in the Economics class and because I dropped the Accounting class. At that time, when a student drops a class, it is a penalty. I was never told about that. Mind you, this is my fist semester with Strayer, so now I have to write an appeal for my financial aid okayed. The first time it was sent back because it was stated that it was incomplete. They needed information the second time about my work schedule and my mom’s medical records, which is against my privacy. By the third time, I was told that I needed a letter from my supervisor or human resources.

I sent in both, which was not enough. I was told the only way I would receive my financial aid is that I should send in my mom’s medical records showing she is ill or a HIPAA statement showing them whatever they needed to see; otherwise, I would have to pay out of pocket. What kind of school is this? Because a student takes online courses, these courses are not being taking just for fun and does not give anyone the right to enroll them in classes that they think they should be in. And when the student fails because of the mistake that has taken place on Strayer’s behalf, the student is held at fault (especially two classes such as Accounting and Economics). Please! Oh, and by the way, I had to take the Economics class over because I made a C in that class and now I am at a B for the mid-terms. Still, that is not enough because I need medical verification of my mom’s medical illness. I have attended a community college and an online university and have not been made to feel the way I feel now about continuing my education. Strayer University has no right to do what they want with a student’s financial aid or putting them in classes that they know a student will fail, especially if that student has a full-time job.

After 2 weeks of waiting, I contacted my campus again to see if there was a problem. I was told that I had been "selected" for verification and was sent a form to initial and return to my worker. I did this immediately and faxed it back to her. I then continued to wait. My loans posted 3 days later, but not my grant. I contacted them again to be told that it was because my account was in the review process. I kept waiting and waiting. I finally contacted my worker again and was told that the form I had initialed was not sufficient and I needed to fill out a verification worksheet. I did that and returned it immediately. The worksheet posted to my account last Saturday, but has not been reviewed yet. My grant still hasn't posted and I keep being told to just wait because it should post soon.

I am now in the 6th week of the semester and I am getting very upset. I am not able to concentrate on my classes like I should because I have to deal with the incompetence of the financial aid process at Strayer. While I have been going through this mess, I have written to get answers and was told to contact my financial aid office. Well, duh, I already did that! I then wrote to get answers a second time after waiting another 2 weeks and never received a response. I have also written 2 emails on the 'View My FA' page which I have received no response to.

I don't feel that Strayer is acting professionally on this matter. I understand that things happen but, jeez, shouldn't someone respond to student concerns? If this isn't cleared up before the week is up, then I will begin to check into finding another online school to attend. My grades are suffering because of this hassle and I can't take a chance on failing because of stressing over something that should be a simple process. I filled out all my FAFSA information, got approved, and returned all the paperwork required, so I don't understand what the problem is.

#1 I feel like the process at Strayer is designed to take advantage of frustrated working adults who think that getting an advanced degree will prepare us for career growth.

#2 I feel like the education I have received is completely worthless! 4-hour classes that start 20-30 minutes late because the professors prefer to consider the classroom a social gathering rather than a classroom, 45-60 minutes worth of breaks for "dinner", 15-30 minute early dismissals, and totally useless PowerPoint presentations.

#3 The texts that we are "required" to purchase are created by Strayer and are totally unrelated to the curriculum that is taught. Each book is over $120 and is rarely used for any assignments in the classroom, antiquated, and admitted worthless by the professors.

I kept expecting things to change "after this quarter, when I start taking more advanced classes" but it continues to be a total waste of time and I feel like I have been fully taken advantage of by this organization. $65,000 for the information I've learned at Strayer is outrageous! I honestly feel like there should be an investigation into the process and culture of Strayer, to forgive some of the outlandish tuition and fees.

As the countdown got towards the end, I was offered the possibility of a $1000 scholarship for the fall quarter of 2011. The advisor, like all of them in the past, informed me that I only needed 2 classes to graduate, but in order to be eligible for this $1000 scholarship, I had to take the 2 remaining classes I had left. I had paid out-of-pocket for all of the classes I had taken at Strayer since starting in 2003 and thought, if possible, I would take both of them since I could not only graduate quicker, but also save $1000 in the process. After thinking this through, I thought the timing wouldn't allow me to put the required time since one of the classes I would be taking would be the last one required for my degree (BUS 499 - Senior Seminar Business). Also, since the fall quarter was right around the holiday time, I figured it would be best to pass on the $1000 and be able to focus on BUS 499 as my last class during the next quarter. Like I mentioned, during this whole process of attending Strayer, I was being told by the advisors exactly how many classes (and which ones) I needed to graduate.

So, after I ended up taking just one class during the fall quarter of 2011, I am rather excited that my goal that I started back in 2003 is now right in front of me. I have done what I think is a great job during my enrollment as my 3.833 cumulative GPA represents. I then received my normal call to sign up for the upcoming quarter. Thinking this will be easy because they will not have to review much as I only have one class to take and I am ready for the challenge of this last class, I am then floored! I almost pre-ordered my BUS 499 book so I could get a head start before classes began. I am now told that I do not need one class, but I have to take five classes in order to graduate. I can not get an answer of why or how this is. I eventually get to talk to the dean and am told that she does not know how this happened and she doesn't know what to tell me but that I have to decide what Timothy wants to do regarding his education future. Imagine that, after spending approximately $18,000 to Strayer, I am basically told, “We don't know what happened and you decide what you want to do from here.” Not to mention being talked to in the third person - very professional!

Then, I receive numerous surveys to fill out about my Strayer experience and why I am not enrolled during the current quarter. I take the time to fill them out and let them know about my situation and even fill out the section that asks if I would like to be contacted, but as you can guess: not one person from Strayer finds it important enough to look into my situation further. They were fine when they wanted me to sign up for classes, but now that I have a concern/complaint they couldn't be bothered. Since this situation in late December 2011, I have filled out three surveys. You would think that one of them would be read by someone that might think it is a situation that should be followed up on. I almost forget another great concept when I was originally told in late December of 2011 by an advisor. When I spoke with this advisor, they told me that it must be some kind of mistake that I needed 5 classes and I should just go ahead and sign up for BUS 499 now. I asked how I could do that since BUS 499 must be the last class taken. I was informed to just sign up and she was sure it would all work out. So, after a 3.833 GPA and approximately $18,000 spent (not to mention books), this is how Strayer deals with a student that has a concern? Thank you for your time.

Until today, everyone has been understanding and conducting themselves in a professional manner. I called today and I talked to a Mohammad (Education Adviser Thousand Oaks) and she was very rude. She raised her voice at me several times in a disrespectful way, she had me on the speaker phone (very unprofessional) the whole time and she was very short to answer my questions. I asked to speak with someone else. She said "You can speak with not one else. I am the person you need to speak with." I called back later and was told that there were other people I could speak with but they were not present at the time. They are not together on their policy, they will tell you one thing and turn around and ask you who told you that.

I have called every number possible to get in contact with someone who could assist me further. I put off and given a different number and when I leave a number, no one contacts me back. I am the one who has to pay all of this money back that I have borrowed. I can not continue to my graduate degree because of this. I just want to complete my degree, this all I'm asking. I do not have a red cent to pay the university due to my income and they are asking for me to pay huge payment to take this one elective. Now what? I don't feel comfortable with adding my information, just call me from the number listed.

On top of that, the business office now tells me that they have decided to take all the balance owed from the winter quarter out of my current spring quarter disbursement, leaving me basically nothing. I am angry because no one told me my loan had been cancelled. I didn't receive an email, a phone call or letter. I never would have known if I hadn't decided to check on the status of my refund. Secondly, I am angry because I was told the payment arrangement I made for the winter quarter would not affect my spring quarter disbursement. I guess the business office is not to be trusted. Once the funds posted, they said the payment arrangement was null and void.

When I called the business office, they said legally, they can do this. Well maybe it's legal, but it's very unethical. The business office, in my opinion, is unethical, unscrupulous and just out to get the student to sign on the dotted line so they can get their money. They are ruthless in trying to squeeze every penny out of the student that they can.

I have been there and have not quit, but I am really thinking about going elsewhere. They do not know when my financial aid or scholarship will be released. I am really thinking about filing with the FTC or something because of the 3 different people I spoke with. They really were not knowledgeable. The person I spoke with today said that the paperwork is being processed. What?! I told her the paperwork was filed and approved in September of 2011. She said, "Oh, then there is a problem with our system updates. I don't know when this will post to your account. Sorry." Well, this is not good enough. This is really ridiculous that Financial Aid cannot tell me what is wrong or when my funds will post to the account. I am really thinking about changing schools.

As to not get stuck with a fee, I had to re-enroll in another semester at Strayer, and my student refund has virtually been wiped out by this fee because of Strayer's fault at not being upfront about their scholarship offer. This is ridiculous and I would like my scholarship to be reinstated and my refund money given back to me.

I have spoken with financial aid, counselor, and I believe, dean at this campus in Rockville, yet have received no feedback or satisfaction other than increased phone calls from collection agencies. In the event this matter is not satisfied, I am prepared to pay the $1,000 Strayer is trying to charge me, to an attorney to fight this and prevent it from ruining my credit. I never attended a single class at this school.

I had just come from a worker's company doctors appointment and had to go back to work. I could not send the professor another message til after work that night. After work, later on that night, I checked the blackboard and took the exam and got a 75%. The professor would not give me those points and said that I did not complete the exam on time. I have complained to the Dean and he says that the professor can edit my grades after the fact, but the professor refuses to. The professor purposely tried to make me fail the class, so that the online department can get more financial gain from students taking classes over again.

The Dean is not of any help either, and everyone that I talk to locally says their hands are tied. Strayer University is not doing enough to protect its students from a professor's self-righteousness acts, discrimination acts and is not allowing the blackboard techs to do their jobs by resetting the exams or quiz when the blackboard goes down. The professor said there was no evidence that the blackboard went down. The tech said the quiz is just sitting there and needs to be graded, and they both are trying to make me look like a liar when I saw the computer grades for my exam and it was 75%.

The other online course was ENG 215. Back in September 2011, the professor failed me because I had used a religious subject for my assignment. The professor, picked on me with biased words and attitude. I altered my desired religious topic to try and satisfy the professor, but the professor played games and blocked me out of the blackboard by saying that it was new to him and he did not know why he did not receive my work. He has discriminated against me, my religious beliefs and my freedom in choosing a religious topic. He never graded my final assignment and did not give me a grade on the final PowerPoint presentation.

I tried to complain to Strayer's Online Administrative person but she did not investigate on the matter. She just took the professor's word. This is the second class they are telling me that I have to take over and that is not fair. I did the work. Strayer University is not monitoring these professors all over the world and the professors should not be reading the students surveys, just to retaliate against us students through withholding of our grades or blocking our progress on the student blackboard, which the professors have total and complete control of, and no one else can interfere or override the professors decision, giving the professors a self righteous control according to how they feel about the students (race, religion, age, any comments or other).

There is no consideration if you have any disabilities or workman company issues or any other doctor note requests. They go silent on you and don't give you an honest professional answer back or help to resolve or to cope with issues of this sort. I have my proof, gave it to the Dean, but he don't know what to do with the information either. Where is the student, as consumers, for we pay for a service to be taught professionally, not for games and to get ripped off by the professors. No professional customer service for many of the students, but we are given evil spirited attitudes, no empathy, no cares or concerns. It's the professors way or the highway. Education is supposed to be a sharing tool even though we students are learning a higher way by attending this school, online too.

What happened to Strayer's motto, they are in business for working people? My professor is using against me for not taking an exam by 12 noon and I was at work then and can prove it to her but she don't want the proof. I do not know the proper people to complain about these situations yet, outside of Strayer's Dean, but I will not stop till I find out. A lawyer might be the only way. I will also try to warn everyone that I know about these practices. I think a ring of some sort is going on to try and fail students, so they have to take the classes again and the online department will get more money to stay strong.

I have not had any problems yet with the on-campus professors. These classes are already over priced, they went up on the price the first year in school. I have loans to pay back, I get no grants or free money. If someone out there know of a better online program, please let me know or advertise it so that I can know and tell my co-workers, my boss, and my family and friends. Beware!

After attending that school for almost 4 years, with only 2 classes to go, I was devastated and extremely upset. I felt that someone should have informed me that I may not have had enough financial aid to cover the last 2 classes. I paid ahead of time for my graduation fee in the amount of $150.00. I told the school since I had the credits for my Associate's to give me that degree. I am still waiting from July for them to send me my degree. I made several calls to the financial aid dept. and never talk to the same person twice. I feel cheated and scammed because the school knows ahead of time if you have enough financial aid to cover your classes. It was a total waste of over 3 years going to that school, only to come out empty handed!

This is ridiculous. I can not even register for classes because, as a student account representative admitted today, they have not been transmitting my financial aid to my lender. All I want to do is go to class. Don't get me wrong, the classes are awesome, but the financial aid department is very incompetent and unorganized, to the point somebody in the department was going on my snap account and marking satisfied documents unsatisfied.

Now the manager is involved and it seems like his hands are tied as well, so what good is that? If I am unable to attend classes because they are screwing up (I have emailed documentation), there is a possibility of legal repercussions.

I received one phone call concerning the matter and thought the matter was settled. Well, here it is 2012. I am enrolling in the PhD program and need my official transcript. I went to the office January 2012 and was told I had a hold on my account. I have been dealing with the office manager who told me that the person that had my file was out and when she returned she would touch bases with me. A few weeks passed and I contacted her and found out that the person she needed to talk to was no longer there. Then she said she saw where I had been added and dropped from the class and needed to talk to her director.

A few more weeks passed and the director is no longer on that campus. Then I received an email saying she would be back in contact with me by 3/5/12. I have been emailing her every since as I need my transcript by 3/27/12 or I will be dropped from my classes. I do not owe the bill and was assured the matter would be corrected. I cannot believe that a graduate from Strayer would be treated this way. Even the case, release my transcript while you are researching it so I can continue school while you correct the matter. I'm now looking for every outlet to indicate my dissatisfaction.

The staff (which, by the way, really does change employees at least eight times a year) in the financial aid department always seems to be so clueless when it comes to explaining the real deal on why are all the refund checks always on hold! Sending out emails saying loans have disbursed to my account, then sending out emails two weeks later saying I either dropped a class last quarter or received an unsatisfactory grade in a class (my GPA is and has always kept me on the Dean's list, by the way). Then Strayer has the audacity to have one of the highest rates for school tuition and per-credit price in the entire United States of America period point blank! Unbelievable.

I requested via certified mail (that was signed for by a Strayer employee) for them to validate the debt they state I owe and still nothing. However, I now receive a collection letter from some rinkey dink collection agency requesting payment of the balance. Are they serious? I contacted the corporate office today and left a VM for Tim ** who I was informed was the manager over AP. I informed him that it is imperative my call is returned immediately; otherwise, I will escalate this matter as it has been two years and Strayer has not complied with my request. Now, due to their illegal practices, this is negatively affecting my credit. I don't think so. I have every intention to send a scathing letter to Sondra Stallard and anyone else at Strayer until this matter is resolved!

There was no misunderstanding. I clearly understood what I was told. Now how would they like me to pay for my books for the spring semester that starts in 2 weeks? I can't. Furthermore, I never would have registered and started classes knowing that I could not afford it.

Strayer is now telling me that I owe a balance of $2,800 that my financial aid did not pay. I was over rewarded. They changed everything in my ledger, even from 2010. I printed out the documents prior to them changing everything. They said I never received refunds over $4,000, which is not true. I never had a problem until the winter 2011 semester came, and financial aid sent them $11,900. They took out the tuition. It was a little over $2,500, and gave me a refund a little over $4,000 in the early part of February 2012.

Now, they’re claiming they sent back over $11,000 back to the financial aid department, because I was over awarded, and that the tuition for winter was not paid. How can this be? Why did they change everything in my ledger? Now they want me to pay them $209.00 a month for a balance that I should not have in the beginning. They put me in a position to pay them and my financial aid at the same time, because of their mistake. I would have never signed up to take this stupid certificate course, if I knew it was going to cause me this much trouble. A representative from Strayer told me until this balance is paid, I will not receive my certificate. Well guess what, Strayer University you can keep your certificate! Why in the world was everything changed in my ledger? I am a very disappointed student!

I had filled out my FAFSA form for 2011 and could not return to school. Imagine my surprise when I received a 1099 form where Strayer had received monies on my behalf and would not allow me to return. I find this to be very unfair. All I wanted to do is return to school. Strayer did not try to work with me and the staff will tell you one thing while you’re in the office and then another once you’re gone. The handbook states that the institution is willing to work with students in the case of death in the family. I provided the school with my mother’s death certificate and everything and they still ** me and took my money.

I'm so sick of Strayer University that I am thinking about filling a lawsuit against the university to get my money. Because this is freaking ridiculous for students' financial aid not to be disbursed already. People are struggling in this economy and Strayer is ** around with students' financial aid and not posting it. I know one thing. Once I graduate with my degree, Strayer University won't be getting a dime of my money. Post my financial aid to my account to cover the past due amount or Strayer University will be hearing from an attorney about how they are scamming students by not giving them their money.

My wife joined Strayer University for the winter quarter 2012 in the Cobb County Campus in Georgia. We had submitted all the transcripts and documents needed for the admission as per the Strayer University requirements to the admission officer. This was done in November 2011. Being an international student in H4 visa, he told he will get back to us after he gets all the proper approval for admission. After 2 weeks, he called us and told that all the approvals are completed and she is eligible for admission. Based on that, we went to the university and was asked to pay the first installment of the tuition fees. I was paying the tuition fees from my pocket as she was not eligible to receive any financial aid.

Things were going good and the classes started in Jan 2012. We paid the first 2 installments of the tuition fees. On Feb 7th, she noticed that she was suddenly dropped from her courses without any prior notice. When she called the university, they told that they didn't receive all the documents needed for admission and still needs evaluation/approval. We went back and told them all the story that happened, but unfortunately, the admission officer that we worked with had already left the university. We found out that they hadn't sent the documents for approval before and it was sent only on the last week of Jan 2012. The campus director told us that it was a mistake that happened from the university and that they will fix everything in one week. But nothing happened. We went there multiple times and every time they will tell they are still working on it. When we call or email, nobody ever responds. The campus director was behaving so irresponsibly. He never picks the call whenever we call him nor respond to emails. After all these happened, the only call that we got from the university was to pay the pending tuition fees.

After 4 weeks of waiting and no response from the university, we again went to the office of the campus director. He told us that they need the original documents of the graduation transcripts for evaluation and will never give it back. I've never heard in my life or anywhere where they take the original documents from the students and never give it back. After all, what will they do with the original document? We told them that we can give the originals but to return it after the evaluation. But they never agreed to it. For us, we would never get another original document from the University in India once they have issued one. They asked us to quit the college as there was no other option left. We didn't have any other choice than to quit and drop from the course.

Now, when we asked for refund for the tuition fees, they were telling that we wouldn't get it. Due to the irresponsibility and the mistake committed by the Strayer University officials we had to pay the price. Now, its past 3 days and we haven't received any response back from the campus director regarding the refund. We don't have any hope that we will receive the refund. My wife's career, valuable time and money is lost, all because of this injustice caused by Strayer University.

Strayer University is all about money. They don't care about anything else. For all those who are trying to join this university, beware. I pray to God that such injustice shouldn't happen to anybody else in the future.

The first quarter took a while too and I emailed and I called and called just for them to keep taking their precious time. Don't get me wrong, Strayer University is an excellent college and the courses are excellent but the financial aid department sucks. It seems to me like one person is dishing out everyone's financial aid money. It shouldn't take this long for us to receive our money and I'm sorry to say but this school is making me want to quit altogether and most likely I won't go back to school. I just think this is awful and I see I'm not the only one that feels this way. It should take dang near 2 months for us to get our money. Really it should be dished out a week or two after classes has started. I'm highly upset and I will be contacting someone of higher authority because this doesn't make any sense whatsoever.

Did you know that the president of Strayer University makes $41.9 million per year? When I spoke to my home campus this morning, she informed me that all 90 of Strayer's campuses operate out of the same corporate office. Well, if he makes $41.9 million every year, can he not provide a more efficient corporate office? The fact is that they only care about money. They do not care about my grades, nor about the degree I will get from them, nor about their employees. They care only about money!

Is it illegal for them to gain interest with government money? I intend to find out and to let the world know about it. I have actually encouraged two of my friends to go to school at Strayer. Now the school makes me feel like a liar and a cheat and it is my responsibility to steer whomever I can to not go to that school. I am just beginning my research into this but I will post as I gain information. I plan on contacting Action 9 News and seeing what kind of information I can get there.

Today my account is overdrawn because a stop payment was put on the original check. I didn't get any notice and no one ever told me. As a result, I had the check bounced and received fees. I have backup documentation for all of this. Thank you.

Fall quarter 2011 was my last quarter at Strayer University as it was completion of the undergrad program. I have had nothing but problems with my financial aid funding. My loans were posted on my account on October 14, 2011 but my Pell grant never posted. At the beginning, I was told that the Pell grant funding would post no later than least 2 weeks after the loans. After the two weeks was up, I kept being told that it will be posted soon and definitely before the end of the quarter. They also explained to me that it was a system issue because when they changed their financial aid packaging software information did not transfer and my information was one that did not convert over.

My Pell grant never posted and my home campus told me that I could not receive my degree because I have an unpaid balance and it would have to be paid before I could receive my degree. I explained to them and the corporate financial aid and student affairs that this is an error on Strayer’s end about the Pell grant never posting, so why should my degree be held up. I was also trying to get into the Master’s program so they decided to go ahead and confer my degree so I can get into the Master’s program. They even me my degree couldn’t be conferred because of the balance so I apply for the Masters program.

I contacted the director of student affairs about the ongoing problems. She helped resolved it so my degree could get conferred and I could sign up for the masters program but the balance was still on my account. My degree was conferred on December 18, 2011 but said because there is still a balance on my account that the degree could not be mailed to me. I went to my home campus on December 23, 2011 and signed up for the Master program and went into the FAFSA site and changed my degree from undergrad to grad as I was advised to from the Business Office Manager.

So going into Winter Quarter 2012, the balance was still on my account from the prior quarter. I kept contacting the corporate financial aid about the issue and they kept telling me that there was no time frame on correcting the issue but it would be resolve soon hopefully. I kept calling because I was tired of waiting and wanting this issue resolve because I was really frustrated knowing that I went into this quarter owing a balance and couldn’t get my degree because of this.

So all of the sudden, they called me on January 10, 2012 and told me that the balance has been cleared up from Fall Quarter and the Pell funding have came in. I looked on the ncdls.ed.gov website and it didn’t show any Pell funding being issued from the Department of Education so I apparently the issue was never resolved. They just cleared that balance out so I could stop contacting them about this problem. I was still concern because there was still a balance for the winter quarter and I was advised from the FA rep over my home campus that she didn’t know a time frame on when this issue would be resolve. I was still worried because since there is no time frame I could go into the next quarter owing this balance just like last quarter and that would hinder me being able to register for classes so I requested for her manager to give me a call. At this time, the balance from Winter Quarter is still on my account.

On January 10, 2011, I received a call from the manager of the Georgia region and the Student Financial Services Rep for the home campus in Corporate Financial Aid. I was told that at this time there is no time frame on resolving this issue but please understand that they are working on it and I was not the only one with this problem. I explained to them that this is an ongoing issue and I want it resolve because it is frustrating that there is a balance on your account and you know it should not be there and I am tired of going into another quarter with a balance and it causing me problems with signing up for classes and etc. I wanted to do a campus change and was told previously that it could not be done because of the balance on my account and you cannot transfer campus owing debt and this balance is hindering this as well. The manager of my region told me that it would be no problem to do the campus change because this situation with my balance is not my fault and it’s an issue on Strayer’s end so he would get submit the information for the class change. He also advised me that if this issue was not resolved my January 24, 2011 the time of refund disbursements that he would issue me a manual refund because of this issue that I went through last quarter and it is not yet resolved. He also explained to me that they don’t do this for the all students but they would do it for me due to my ongoing issue and the long process its taking to resolve it. He also advised me that Student Financial Services rep would be touching base with me on keeping me updated with the status of the issue.

She called me on January 18 to follow up with me on the status of my campus change. I advised for that I haven’t heard anything from anyone about the campus change. She also informed me that the issues with my account have not been resolved yet and they are still working on it.

On January 23, 2012, I contacted corporate financial aid to check on the update about balance on my account and to confirm with her again about the manual refund per our previous conversation. She told me that they have finally received the item that they needed to get the issue resolved with their financial aid system with the conversion so it shouldn’t be too much longer with the issue but she will go ahead and get the check request filled out for my manual refund so she can get the approval. I asked her about the approval because I wasn’t told about an approval being needed per our conversation on January 10th and since the manager of the region stated that he would get a manual check issued to me due to the ongoing issue I have been having with my financial aid. She stated, “Well yes but I do have to get an approval but it won’t be a problem due to your situation.” I asked her how long will it take for the check to be cut and she stated she would call me after she get it approve so I can expect a call back that afternoon or the next morning. I never received a call back from her so I called her everyday that week and each time I spoke to her she stated that she haven’t got the manager to approve it yet but as soon as she do she will call me. I called the manager of the region on corporate financial aid on January 25 and left a message never got a call back.

On Friday, January 27, 2012, I called and Spoke to Student Financial rep for my home campus. She stated that the request was denied because they had a meeting and the head manager denied the entire campus because they now have the item to resolve the issue and it should be fixed in about a week. I told her that I didn’t know their situation but I was told from the manager of my region that I would be issued a check if my issue was not resolved by January 24th the time that other student refund checks are disbursed and that I would like to talk to him about this matter. She stated that she apologizes about this but it was out of his hands. I ask her how can he make a promise but now say it was left out of his hands. I requested to speak to someone over him. She stated that she will have him to call me. I requested for a call back that same day.

I also contacted the director of student affairs about the matter and explained to her the whole situation and she stated she was going to looking into it and she will give me a call back. The manager in student financial services called me back on January 27, 2012, and he explained to me that apologize that he may not been clear about the manual refund check but it does have to have an approval and it was denied. He also stated that the issue with my account should be corrected in about 5 weeks. Just that quick the time frame changed from 1 to 5 weeks for the issue to resolve on my account. I explained to him that I feel like I am just being told anything to just buy time because the story is constantly changing and I am tired of it and want something done now. The staff knows that I am consisted and stay on top of them about this ongoing problem because I want it resolve so they are out of answers. He really didn’t have an answer for me but kept saying sorry.

I have just been lied to the entire time. I contacted the director of student affairs on January 27, 2012 and she is going to forward my information about my situation to the Vice President of Regional Business Office Operations. On February 1, 2012, I received an email from student affairs that the VP of Regional Business Office Operations is having a meeting with the director of student financial services about my matter today at 5:30 pm and will email me once she get a response from the result of the meeting. I received an email from the director of student affairs about 7:30 pm stating that the funding would be posted late on 2/2 or first thing on 2/3 but she really couldn't explain why my account was not up to date. She stated that my funding was not there because of my degree conferral and I am now I am a graduate student but she wasn't sure what was going on with the technical glitch with their system.

On 2/2, I looked on icampus more funding was posting but my subsidized loan was on partially paid. I contacted the director of student affairs and my home campus and no one could give me an answer. I don’t know what is going on with Strayer and the Dept of Education but I am at the point where I want answer, want this issue to be resolved and get my refund so I will have a zero balance. I will no longer be a student at Strayer after this is resolved. I want to be able to transfer to another university without having issues with Strayer as I have heard other students have in the past about getting their transcripts. I have been more than patient and I am getting told a bunch of lies from the home campus up to corporate. I don’t see how they can be employed there and just lie to these students. I can look at FA information on Strayer website and it shows an amount due and date to be paid. That date has passed. I have also looked at the national student data access system and there is no loan or the Pell grant funding that was due to be paid to me and magically all of the sudden the balance from fall quarter with the Pell grant has cleared up on my account.

I want a resolution about this matter and I am tired of dealing with people that don't know how to handle the situation. This is very unprofessional, unethical and is an inconvenience to me as a student. I need to know who do I need to contact besides Strayer and how do I go by getting an attorney if needed about this. This has been nothing by a stressful situation for me. I have to take time from job by trying to contact them by phone and not getting any answers. This has caused nothing but pain and suffering, and a financial burden, and anxiety.

Other students receive their funding on time. However, Strayer has systematically been holding my funds, and not releasing them to me. This has caused me great financial loss, and loss of time at my job to fix and correct these errors. I have had to contact the CEO's office to get an ounce of help from these people. I want to file a class action law suit or harassment suit against Strayer University.

The instructor was like a dictator, rude, and unavailable. I think she was even drunk on occasions from reading some of her replies to students. I complained about her grading, as she gave me a low grade for something in which she did not give a low grade to others. She gave me a generic reply that did not address my complaint. I asked my adviser to transfer me to another section of MKG500 and she said I had to do it through student affairs. I followed through with student affairs, but have heard nothing and have continued to do my assignments.

The last assignment I turned in was on Jan 22, 2012. The instructor, Kelly ** gave me a zero yesterday, as she said she did not receive it. I then sent the assignment to Student affairs and my Adviser, noting that if they right click on the document and click on properties, they will find that it was last modified on Jan 22, 2012, the day it was due. I have no way to prove I sent it in through blackboard but I can prove it was complete, so why would I not turn it in? That's ridiculous and I told her so. There was no reply of course.

I have 2 As and a B. With this 4th class and a zero on a major paper, I will flunk out. I don't know what to do at this point. I have stopped participating in class starting yesterday. These credits are not transferable and that's four courses of wasted tuition. I think Student Affairs is a black hole. Help!

Like I have told everyone there in that office, if I had the money to pay for my classes as I go, I would have. I had trust and confidence in the Business Office. Now that I had to take my last 3 classes at another University to complete my courses, I still can't get a transcript nor my diploma because of an outstanding balance. I have gotten so stressed out over this and is very disappointed in Strayer and their employees not doing their job. So I'm the one suffering and have lost 4 jobs offers because I had no proof of my education. I think the school should just pay this balance so I can go on with my life with a job that's in my field and try continuing my education. But I'm not planning on attending Strayer at this moment. I wish someone would see it from my point and help me.

This letter is being written because of the dire situation that has transpired to the following students: Vernell ** , Doreen **, Ellen ** and Darnetta ** attending the Owings Mill campus sites; Operational Management Course #515. The issues of concern started last fall semester, first week of October 3, 2011, in operational management class. We (Vernell, Doreen, Ellen and Darnetta) are requesting that $1,277 be returned to us in the form of a refund check.

Upon attending Professor Cheryl **, our first class, the experience was not a positive or pleasant experience. After class, many of the students met with the professor with questions regarding the material she was covering: Break-even and Algebra formulas and computation. The entire class expressed to the Professor that they have never had Break-even Algebra formulas and computation and we were all having difficulties and did not understand the information that was being presented. After everyone conveyed the above concerns to the Professor, none of our concerns were answered or addressed. She totally disregarded our concerns and dismissed the class.

On 10/10/2011, students Vernell, Doreen, Ellen and Darnetta met with Professor ** during week #2 for a second time after class regarding the same existing issues and questions and concerns. Once again many of the students' issues in the class were ignored and not addressed. Instead students were told per Dr. ** that "I am not a math teacher, I did not come here to teach math or the break-even Algebra computation. Students should have been taught prior in another class". After that response, Dr. ** received numerous complaints in regards to never having break-even Algebra formulas and computation and not understanding the material. I (Darnetta) asked Dr. **, "How do you expect students to do the class work and homework if you do not explain or instruct us what to do? Can you please at least give one or two examples on the board?" She ignored my request as well as the entire class' and she continued to move forward with introducing another chapter from the Operational Course Text book.

On 10/11/11, the following morning at 10 a.m. I immediately drove back to the Owings Mills Campus. Vernell, Dorren, Ellen and I (Darnetta) met with the Owings Mills Campus site Director Mrs. Doreen ** and expressed our concerns and issues regarding our class, and look for possible solutions, resolution and remedies. After attending the class last night, all of us --Vernell, Dorren, Ellen and I (Darnetta)-- feared falling behind in our class work and homework assignments and then, possibly failing the entire course due to Dr. **'s negligence and inadequacy in teaching us and the entire class; in addition to her callous and unconcerned and unprofessional attitude. I informed the campus director about the professor's attitude towards the student and the statement that she made ("I am not a math teacher, I did not come here to teach math or the Break Even Algebra computation. Students should have been taught prior in another class). Moving forward she began to induce another Chapter from the operational Management book. We (Vernell, Dorren, Ellen and Darnetta) stated to Ms. ** that the entire ordeal was a complete nightmare. The way Professor ** was teaching the class was not conducive to our academic learning. We all were told by the Campus Director, Mrs. **, inaccurate information. Mrs. ** stated that there's absolutely nothing that she could do. However, we can withdraw during the 8th week of class to avoid being financially penalized without fees and avoid being penalized academically. The campus director then referred to the Campus Dean, Janet **.

All of the above students (Vernell, Dorren, Ellen and Darnetta) conveyed and expressed the same exact concerns to Dean ** , that us and the entire class have expressed to the Professor that they have never had Break even Algebra formulas and computation and we were all having difficulties and did not understand the information that was being presented. The Professor refused to explain or instruct us what to do. She refused to give at least one or two examples on the board. She ignored all of our requests as well as the entire class'. We also informed the Dean on **'s callous and unconcerned and unprofessional attitude towards the entire class and her negligence and inadequate style of teaching, in addition to request to sit-in at Intro to Business Class 100 class because this was being offered a different day during the week. We (Vernell, Dorren, Ellen and Darnetta) feared falling behind in our class work and homework and then, possibly receiving an F for the entire course due to Dr. **'s negligence to teach us and the entire class.

At first Dean ** stated we could sit-in at Intro to Business 100 then she stated no we could not. We were all told to put in a case management report so that the issue could be addressed. Dean ** promised to supply us with a tutor. The tutor that was provided to all of us (Vernell, Dorren, Ellen and Darnetta) was under graduate professor who had no knowledge of Operational Management Course. The professor's name was Milton **. When Vernell ** and Darnetta met with professor, he was not knowledgeable at all about our course subject. He was rather demeaning in telling us to write out our multiplication factor. He went on to say, "When you have question regarding the break-even formulas, you should ask you teacher. If you do your multiplication factor it will always bring you back to square one. Your class professor should help you with this". I thought to myself, "Right back to square one! After attending two fruitless session, not conducive to our learning environment". Frustrated, stressed and still unable to understand or do the break-even formulas, computation or its process, I stopped attending **'s tutoring session and continued on attending **'s class and we prepared ourselves to just to fail on **'s class.

While attending **'s class on 10/31/2011, she was extremely rude and unprofessional. She went on talking about how she was not a math class and she stated that she hated coming to Strayers on Monday, she wished it snowed and have a blizzard so she would not have to teach Monday night classes at Strayers. She stated how she especially hated teaching our class. After listening to ** demean and irate the entire class, Vernell and I (Darnetta) pack our belongings and left. We immediately contacted the Owings Mills Campus Director and Campus Dean, Janet **, and reported **'s behavior . Once again, it was ignored. After attending a total of eight weeks (11/18/2011) and not learning absolutely anything, we (Vernell, Doreen, Ellen and Darnetta) decided to withdraw from **'s class before we fail the entire class.

Once again, we (Vernell , Doreen, Ellen and Darnetta) are requesting that $1,277 be returned to us in the form of a refund check.

I failed due to not being able to order the books. Then the school stopped my financial aid stating I did not have enough credits. I filed an appeal and was told that everything should be fine and approved for financial aid to be reinstated. I was told once I began classes and paying out of pocket for books that my appeal was denied. Now I still have a balance but the school was paid and has yet to apply funds to the classes that I already took.

I am not the only student with this issue, and it seems as if I have no where else to turn because I am getting brushed off. I have proof from financial aid that the money has been sent and when it was sent. I just want this matter looked into so that no other students have to deal with this type of unprofessionalism. No results as of yet I cannot get a straight answer from anyone on this. I have not been able to get other supplies needed for school because the delay in student aid.

The dean who called me delusional could never, in three quarters, remedy the situation. Another instructor, who confided to me she had got all her degrees: BA, MA and PhD online, could not understand why a student would not paraphrase directly from the book to answer her "discussion questions". She thought that venturing any opinion of one's own on the part of the student was "bad". Such a simplistic view of education is not usually characteristic of people who graduated from high school. Again, I felt I had no resolution to her grade.

Thirdly, in a course I was taking this past Summer, I fell behind because I was confronted with having to drive across the country and with illness, and I told him. I got all the work to him by the end of the course. Not only did he not grade it, but he left me a nasty email stating that "It just doesn't work this way, sir". His arrogance and deliberate misunderstanding were shocking to me. I was told that to dispute this grade (an "F"), I needed to talk to the dean and only that dean (the one who called me "delusional").

I lost a ton of money in loans that I will have to repay trying Strayer's "online university". Not only were some of the instructors irresponsible and seemingly unanswerable to anyone, but the administrative functions are horrible. For the Summer Quarter, the university decided to use blackboard for all its courses, with the result that even to register took phone calls that one had to wait up to an hour or more to have. One was directed to online solutions which were claimed to be easier for us (students). Of course, they were not and they just wasted more of one's time as a student. I found that I was not even properly registered in the course I was taking until the second week had passed. I had spent infinite amounts of time trying to get through the bureaucratic red tape, which was close to impossible to deal with, no matter how earnest one was.

Sadly enough, those personal trips to the campus still never resolved my issues, but I had to reach out, and take those matters to other campus directors in other regions of the country. First, I address my problems to Mr. Cliff **, who once said he researched it, got in touch with the local campus himself, and was able to resolve them without any delays. Since he was promoted and transferred to another region, I have dealt with two other gentlemen who, like Mr. ** corrected the matters at hand. I got the same responses from them, "we are working on it, and we'll call you back". That never happened, instead, I received no follow-up to any issues that I brought to their attention, and to make matters worse, the local campus director that's there now, actually caused a major problem with my student account, that took months to correct, and had to be resolved by Mr. Charles ** from another region.

I've had them decrease my federal loan amounts without prior notice, to withdrawing me from classes without prior notice, and charged me for over $1,800 for those classes this term, to not changing my program of study, after I submitted proper documentation to do so, they lost my income tax documents, had me take classes I never needed, didn't release my refund after five weeks or so, and they don't return phone calls or emails. For example, the semester is over, and my financial aid was just posted to my account this week, the last week of class mind you, now I have to wait for another seven days, before I get a refund, that's if they don't come up with any reason to keep my money. Save your time and money.

This university is in it for the money. Ive reached my maximum loan amounts, because they charge twice as much for classes. I could be done if I would have went back to the University of Alabama. $3,600 for two classes should be a red flag for anyone returning to college, and are serious about getting their degree. I have lost all faith in their ability to meet the requirements, and dependability of a university. I'm in the process of transferring to another college that costs less, and has a better reputation.

Because I graduated with honors, I was contacted by admissions to re-enroll for the Master's program offering a $5,000 scholarship. It sounded like a great idea, so I re-enrolled and started December 3, 2011. In the past, I never had problems with Strayer, but returning to them for the Master's Program have been a nightmare. Prior to starting class, I paid the small balance owed and applied for financial aid. Of course, I still never received my actual earned Bachelor's degree in the mail despite the fact that I earned it, and didn't owe the school any money. I called consistently and all I would get is brushed off. At one point, I contacted and went to the school several times before anyone actually looked at my account to find out why I didn't receive my degree. Apparently, I didn't know that I could be enrolled in both the Bachelor's program and the Masters program at the same time even though a grad fee was paid. I marched, and my transcripts showed that I earned my degree already. Needless to say, it finally got fixed and I received my actual degree on 11/12/11.

Now, 10 weeks in to the semester, I still have not had my financial aid posted to my account, nor received a refund even though I was approved for additional funds. Like everyone else says here, their customer service sucks, none answers your questions and you can't speak to this mystery corporate office that everyone in the business and financial aid office talks about. I am beginning to think that there is no such "corporate office" and that each campus really handles their own problems. Some of the local people at the Charleston Campus are very helpful and do make an effort to resolve some of your issues, however, the rest, just blame everything on the new computer system and its glitches.

Like everyone else else, once we apply for funds and get approved, its our money and Strayer should not put a hold on our funds, nor resolve the issues to return the refunds to the students. For starters, you can't refund money if you don't post it to the account, but yet every day I check, I continue to show a balance. Then like some people, they attend classes, complete, but Strayer never does what they supposed to do with the financial aid that the students apply for then they expect you to pay out of pocket for their mistakes.

All I want is what is owed to me and for their financial aid office to take responsibility and help the students.

I visited their Facebook page and realized there were many more students with the same refund issues. Strayer addressed a few complaints with instructions to email concerns. Excuse me, but your business office is well aware of who owes what. Students don't need to inform Strayer's employees via email that they are owed money or that their balance remains unpaid.

After being very frustrated, I tried to call and call and call. The phones are rarely answered and they do not return voicemails. I had to go down to my home campus in order to talk to someone on three different occasions and received three different versions for the delay. The final version was, "We haven't received your funds yet."

So I emailed as instructed via Facebook. Two weeks have passed and I have yet to hear from someone addressing my email. The email that Strayer suggested, students with issues, send! In addition to poor communication and failing to disburse my remaining funds, the school "accidentally" signed a large group of students up for on campus classes that enrolled in online classes.

To our surprise, we discovered this during week 1 of classes. Those I spoke to, who were affected, suggested that the mess up was bizarre and expressed their frustrations with Strayer this quarter. If you are a potential student, consider another university. There are too many mistakes made by employees regarding paperwork, data entry, or "glitches" in software in this organization! They are a for profit university, which should be an excellent advantage. It should mean that students'/customers' satisfaction is a priority, issues are quickly addressed and corrected and communication is essential. In this case, none of the above apply to my recent experience. This is not how a business should operate.

In 2010, I continued to go for my Bachelors Degree, which was the biggest mistake in my life. In week 7, I found out that I am taking a wrong class. Mind you, I have not received my refund yet, plus, I supposed to be getting a refund back from this class including books. Strayer has made several mistakes and now I have to fight to get my money back. My loans are to the limit and the remaining seven classes, I have to pay out-of-pocket because the Pell grant will not cover the classes.

I don't know what to do; this school has messed me up mentally and financially. It's almost the end of the year and I have been passed around like an offering cup. I want to file some kind of suit against this school for what they have done to me. I am having major chest pains and my blood pressure has sky rocketed through the roof. I have been lied to constantly about my refund and no one can give me a straight answer. I also believe that they have cheated me out of my money. I have all my records to prove that they charged me for many things I did not do.

Please help me. I want my money back, plus a settlement for pain and suffering.

They told me I was $1,500 short and that I maxed out my funding. I personally find that impossible. I called again and told them to give me my Associates degree since I was told I completed that. I paid the $150 fee and have not received any diploma as of yet. It has been 4 months. I called in August 2011. I was suppose to have graduated October 2011. I am disgusted and extremely upset because I now have to start paying back school loans on an education that I didn't complete because of incompetence on the school's part. I should have been told in advance, before enrolling in the BA program, the amount that I would have been eligible for, instead of just enrolling me. This to me suggest the school is all about money and not about the welfare of their students.

I tried calling Strayer today, and the machine say all circuits are busy. What a bunch of bull. The same day you make changes to my account, all your circuits are busy. I do not understand that at all. I am withdrawing from Strayer, and my money need to be sent back to my lender, because I refuse to pay the money I didn't get. Someone need to do something about this school.

My experience with Strayer has been full of lies from their office admin staff. I am working on my Master's and after having attended a real University that wasn't profit-seeking, I can honestly say this school is a waste and it should be closed down ASAP before further damage is done!!! I predict that if Strayer doesn't get it together, their CEO will be in a lot of trouble really soon!!! Whatever you do, look deep into this leaching greedy school or you, too, will be writing a complaint!!!

After my degree conferral, I was told it would take 10-12 weeks to receive. Around the 13th or 14th week, I began calling my home campus. They told me it should be coming in. I just found out about 3-4 weeks ago that some of my credits were screwed up and that I hadn't been awarded my bachelor's degree. But get this; I'm currently in my second quarter of my master's program. I can't get help from anyone in the Business Office. My friend is so lucky that this is her last quarter at Strayer. I do not recommend this school to anyone. This is the first time there has been an issue. But as I've read the comments, it's not just my campus. It's the school in its entirety.

Currently November 18, 2011, waiting for Dean to call me back. I'm so upset and I was a happy student at Strayer now. I can't express how I feel right now. I have truly lost respect and will no longer attend there after this last class. I will obtain my Masters somewhere else, hopefully that school has staff that knows what they are doing. I will make sure I tell people my story so others won't go through what I'm going through. I'm ready to call my local news station.

My bills started to get behind and cut off. They didn't communicate well and when you tried to talk about your check to them they just brushed it off. One of the financial aid advisors told me that my check was only $800, as if I shouldn't be worried about my money. I don't care if my check was only worth $10 it's still mine and I earned it. My check was late and my internet was cut off, so I wasn't able to do my work online. They dropped me from school because I couldn't get my work done. If my check was on time my internet would have never been cut off. Strayer you should be ashamed of yourselves.

When you sign up for classes, and sign for your loan (because we all know how expensive Strayer is), they should give you the excess money back, right then and there. Pshhh! Cut the check when you sign the promissory note, and then you won't have all the horrible reviews about the refund process. They cant do this to us, the Department of Education law states that, they only have 14 days to disperse the funds back to us, and it has been like 21 now. Something needs to be done. We just need to riot at the school or something. Boycott or something. That's how things were done in the past.

They are unorganized and incompetent, trust me when I say this. This school is only out to get you in debt. Everyone is so helpful when it comes to enrolling you and getting your money, but as soon as their times for disbursements, they stop answering the phone and you start being ignored. Students are so not important to these individuals. They can care less about you financial situation and constantly lie to you over and over again. This is ridiculous. Strayer University is a drastic mistake. You will be up a creek without a paddle.

In other words, this school is a scam and they are taking advantage of people and their education. I lost two years of my education because I cannot afford to pay $6,000 out of my pocket in order to get my transcripts. Everyone, beware. Do not attend this school.

Prior to my graduation ceremony, I receive a letter from Strayer University financial aid office, stating that I owe $4,000.00 I called the financial aid office and they told me I owe it because they waited one day too late to submit my paper work to my lenders and it is my responsibility to pay Strayer University. I have submitted a letter to the financial aid department for an appeal over a month ago. When I contacted the Director at Strayer University, he told me that I needed all the emails from 2010 from the young man that I worked with, who was no longer in the financial aid department, before he could send the appeal in to higher authority.

I have consistently had to stay on top of them to process and submit documentation to their centralized location - documentation, I might add, that they told me they already submitted. Every time I inquire if it had been submitted (knowing that it had not been, based on their computerized student data system), I would get a response saying that everything is fine. Whenever I contact the business office, which is usually two to three times a week, I am given an explanation by the front desk that they are busy or always in a meeting, or I am sent to a voice mail. When I do leave a voice mail, I never get a call back or the problem is never resolved from the message I left. I stop by there at least twice a week just to try to meet with someone in the business office to get my classes finalized, and I keep being told that they will do it, but it doesn't get done and my classes get dropped after five days.

Unfortunately for me, there is not another school locally that offer the accounting certificate program they offer, otherwise I would not continue my enrollment with this establishment. As a student already having a graduate degree from another institution, I have never encountered such difficulty and resistance on the part of staff members to help guide students in the enrollment process.

Strayer University also has their institution set up where you are unable to contact their main branch to assist or discuss concerns. I contacted their 1-888 number and was automatically directed to the Charleston, SC Campus location, where I attend. My experiences with this institution have been so awful that I have considered dropping out of the program I am in. I would love to determine if there is a board that can be contacted to initiate a review of this institute's practices, as I am not the only student experiencing these problems.

With all that was going on with my mom being sick with cancer and me constantly in and out of town, I didn't realize I haven't received any letters from Strayer since I left school. So I called Strayer on Sept 28th to see about registering again for winter classes. The girl I spoke with, Jasmine, couldn't even find me in their system. She said this may be because they had changed over to a new computer system. So finally after me giving her all my other personal info, she said it's weird that she sees my name but the address does not match. I said I haven't moved so maybe it's someone else. She asked for my ss# and my DOB and then she said, it was me she saw in the system but with the different address. She asked me if I recently moved, I said no!

When I asked her why did someone change my address to another state and a different phone number, she said it might have been a computer glitch. She then proceeds to tell me that I have an outstanding balance of $645.00 and it's been sent to collection. I said how can I owe money that has been sent to collections when I was never notified that any money was ever owed to Strayer. I never received an e-mail, a letter, not even a phone call about this money I allegedly owed since I left school in Feb.2011 and it's now Sept 28 2011. She then says it could have been because of my change of address, I then said, "Who changed my address?". She couldn't give me an answer.

I reiterated that I haven't moved so why is my address different in their system? She transferred me to the finance office where a Mr ** proceeds to tell me he understands me being upset but all he can do is give me the number of the collection department so I could pay it. I quickly calmed myself down and asked to speak with his boss, the Director of the school, Mrs. Wylette **. He gave me her name and connected me to her desk; of which I got the her voice Mail. So I left a message.

I thought this is just not right. I then did some checking and found out that what they did. Not notifying me is a violation of the Fair Credit Billing Act (FCBA), failure to send bills to your current address. Because someone has changed my home address and home phone number in their system, they failed to send bills to my current address. What's worse is they they don't know how or who did it. The same month I dropped out...Really! I never received a call from Mrs. Provo, So I sent her a registered letter about the error Strayer University had made with my account. Still no response!

So now because this is in collections, it's on my credit report and affecting my credit score, which before this I had nothing delinquent on my credit report. This is also affecting me in finding a job because I'm unemployed and companies always check your credit. I also cannot get my almost 2 years of class credits from Strayer so I could continue my education at another school. Strayer University has totaly messed up my life and after doing some research, I found out Strayer has been doing stuff like this to alot of other students. Why is Strayer University being allowed to continue to do this to students while still taking our money?

The next semester, my GPA was more than the required rate, and I was on schedule with my classes. I received a email stating my FA was suspended, because I didn't have the required GPA. I contacted my director. She was clueless, so was the dean. They would not give me any number to the corporate office, who is the person who issued me the email. I have a bill of $2,000. No one seems to know why or know how to fix it. This school has given me nothing but problems from day one.

I was told that since I normally take 3 classes at a time and I would be left with one class to complete, instead of paying a high tuition cost at Strayer I city, I can take the class at a local community college for a cheaper cost. I did just that. I completed the course in May and went to my campus (Strayer) to complete a transcript request form. At this time, no one informed me that I was unable to do this. After several weeks had gone by and I had not spoken to anyone from my campus, I was told by the campus Dean that according to a policy in the Student Handbook, I was unable to transfer classes from an outside institution during the last term of study. This is not in the Student Handbook, it is in a catalog and this "so-called" policy was not addressed when I met with an Academic Advisor.

I appealed the decision to not accept my transfer credit and I was verbally told that I was denied. I never received anything in writing, after requesting it several times. I feel that my appeal was never submitted. I followed the proper procedures for appeal and was not given any response from the Regional Dean of Students. I was told that I must pay out of pocket the amount of $1710 to cover the class if I want my degree. I am scheduled to make a payment on 10-7-11. I am on a payment plan because I cannot afford it. The policy was not clear nor was it enforced.

In May 2009, the two classes ended. In June, I had my baby and was taking the summer off from school. Towards the end of June, I received a bill in the mail from Sallie Mae for over $3,000! I never even heard of Sallie Mae until this point. So I called them and they said that this was a bill for a loan from Strayer. But how could this be? I never signed for a loan. I called Strayer and spoke with the counselor. She said that I signed for it and when I asked for a copy she said that I should have my own. But obviously, I didn't.

I looked in my packet of paperwork and there was nothing about a loan, whatsoever. I have written several letters to the collection agency and Sallie Mae requesting a copy of this loan I supposedly signed for. All I keep getting in return are billing statements, and offers from Strayer to suddenly to come back to school. Really? For $3,000 for two classes, I could attend a real university. I should've stuck with Germanna Community College. They are only about $300 per class, and much easier to deal with.

I started to receive failure to attend class notifications via email shortly after. I followed the chain of command and contacted the student services department so that they may update my information per the proof that I had, proving my attendance record such as current grades, my actual attendance record, and weekly discussion posts.

Soon after submitting this pertinent information, I would attempt to log onto classes and I would be locked out and unable to attend classes until Strayer resolves the issue. After usually a week later, I am able to resume classes; however, I would have to work particularly hard to catch up with the other students. This is unfair. This exact situation has occurred on more than one occasion, and is no longer considered a convenience to me.

I have also submitted several claims to the school because my unofficial transcripts show record of failing grades for two consecutive courses, which are both errors as well. I again followed the necessary steps in reporting this information to the school and the instructors and I am still awaiting a grade change. This situation currently affects my financial aid status and leaves me with the inability to move forward with my studies.

I have reached my maximum amount of financial aid funding in order to continue my bachelors degree so I am required to pay the remaining balance (12 credits remaining) out of my own pocket, which is tremendously hard for me to do. However, under these circumstances, it's much too late for me to transfer to a different college.

So I attended class for the week and by the end of the week, I got an email. The email stated that your financial aid has been suspended. The school withdrew me from the class and noticed I had an outstanding balance. I called the school to find out what went wrong. They stated that I didn't complete enough hours.

Why wasn't I advised about this when I stated I want to make sure my financial aid would still apply when I didn't do well in the first class and was currently on probation? Clearly, they left me hanging now with no financial aid or anything. I would have paid for the class that I was currently registered for but they treated me so wrong and already bribe some new students into getting a private loan to take my spot. Be aware!

Then another problem with regards to my academics report online. It showed that I still had a couple more classes to take when indeed I completed all necessary classes to finish the program. I went back and forth for months with no resolution until just this month when the Dean finally replied and told me it was an IT problem. Come on, an IT problem that goes on for 5 months? After a week of emails, that glitch was fixed and showed that I've completed the program .But I still do not have my diploma even if I paid the graduation processing fee. So now after over $45k later and lots of nights and weekends taking classes, this is what I get? This is the worst decision I could ever make, going to Strayer University. Will I ever get my diploma?

I truly believe that this school is taking advantage of veterans and their benefits. Not to mention in order for me to transfer, I would have to pay the fine, buy more books(out my own pocket from now on),p ass next semester and hope and pray that the next school will accept my credits and myself. In so far as the teaching skills it's **** near remedial. It's like the instructors cop an attitude when you're asking a question. So all I can do is the best I can and pray that I have no more bills from this school when it's time for me to leave.

I then asked why I had a balance when my financial aid was approved and GI Bill was being used. They then transferred me from person to person and I got nowhere. They basically kept giving me the run-around. I contacted the VA and was told that Strayer had never sent them any type of paper work requesting payments. I tried contacting Lorena ** since she was my admissions adviser, however, I was told that I was given to someone else. After being passed around several , I finally spoke with Tara **, who claimed that she was my new adviser. I asked what I could do because the FASFA and VA state that Strayer never requested payment and she stated that somewhere someone messed up and had me apply for a loan and never applied for my FASFA or GI Bill.

Now I supposedly owe the school almost $9,000 for one semester. I contacted the VA and they state that they pay schools directly whereas Strayer is stating that the VA doesn't pay them directly and they never attempted to process my GI BILL paper work because of this. I know this is not true because I have spoken with the VA regarding this issue and also because I am attending another college now who processed all the paper work and receives the money from the VA.

Due to Strayer's lies and games, I now have $9000 collection hanging over my head, not to mention that the school I currently attend is not going to allow me to continue going to school without a transcript which Strayer will not issue. The GI Bill covers the classes I am currently taking but Strayer is halting my education do to their deceit. Had Strayer did what needed to be done and filed the paper work, they would have been paid by the VA. Now I have to be stuck without an education because I can't go to school with Strayer on my background.

My husband was filing for financial aid and did not know if he had been approved yet when the semester started. I found it strange that he was encouraged to start classes and attend classes while he waited, but I have never attended an 'on-line' university and thought they knew best. When his financial aid was denied, the stress of handling the financial burden resulted in failed midterms and he was advised to withdraw.

Fast forward to July 2010, my husband has just received a bill for almost $3000 and a threat to be sent to collections. All those people who advised him are gone, so are all the accommodations. Conveniently, no paper trail. He never received a single bill. Speaking with them today, I heard the scrambling. They have no record. They are simply spouting, "Corporate sent those letters." But who is to say they won't find some other reason to bill my husband a year from now!

What an absolutely horrible experience. I am truly outraged! How do you take advantage of people as they strive to make a better life for themselves? Strayer University is a total disaster.

In Sept. 2008, the branch was working for was laid off. Not having a job, I had to withdraw from my university and move back home. Before I left Charlotte, I made arrangements to take a job overseas in South Korea. Knowing I was leaving, I quickly made the decision to continue my education online through Strayer University. I enrolled and registered for classes approximately on Oct 2008. During the process, I agreed to a payment plan for the tuition that my financial aid did not cover.

I left for South Korea December 2008. While in Korea, I had to order textbooks. In order to receive those textbooks, I had to inform Strayer University of my South Korean address.

In Jan. 19th, 2009, the beginning of the term, I went to a rural area of the Philippines. While in the Philippines, I was unable to log into class (for an unknown reason) and I was unable to contact technical support due to no phone access. For these same reasons, I was also unable to contact two of my three instructors.

3/5: I received an emailed from MT (unknown position). MT then states that I needed to contact the CI (this is a never ending cycle). At this point, I clearly see that I will not be getting a resolution regarding this class.

I was taking 3 classes and had to make 3 payments for classes. I paid, on schedule, 1 of the 3 payments for classes. I felt until Strayer resolved this issue, it would be in my best interest to not continue payments. I continued and completed classes for that term. Once classes ended, I wanted the fee for CI's class to be removed from my account, as I was not given a fair chance to successfully complete the class. Once this was resolved, I would make the final payment to Strayer.

On Dec. 2009, I returned to my hometown to the USA. On Jan-Mar 2010, I travelled to Charlotte to discuss the removing of fees from CI's class and to pay my last payment. Once I arrived, I was notified that my previous campus advisor (who already knew about the situation) was no longer there. I was then reassigned to another advisor "NM".

I explained the situation to NM, who left her office to get some information. Once she returned, she informed me I had an extremely inflated balance on my account. Shocked, I had her explain these charges. I was then told that my financial aid from 2009 was never applied to my account! "Something" was supposedly missing from my financial aid information that caused it to be rejected. Confused and infuriated, I could no longer discuss the financial aspect of the conversation. NM then informed me, if I wanted the fee for CI's class dropped from account, I would need to forward all emails to her so, the situation could be reviewed and a decision would be made. I then returned to my hometown. On 3/17, I forwarded all of the required emails to NM.

I called Direct Loans to get information, regarding my financial aid no being applied to my 2009 Strayer tuition. I was informed that they never released the funds because Sprayer did not return a "certification" stating that I was enrolled as a student and how much tuition costs. I then asked if there was anything, on my part, that was incomplete. I was told, no, that I had done everything. They only needed the certification from Strayer. I then asked if it were possible to have the 2009 funds released to Strayer. I was then told that I would only be possible it Strayer requests it.

I call Strayer to inform them of the information I received from Direct Loans. I was told that they had never heard of fianaical aid, from previous years, being reactive. I then stated, it was information I received directly from Direct Loans. I was told I would be called back. It is now 6/28/2010. I have not received a letter, phone call or email from Strayer regarding all of the above events!

Nothing would make me happier than to sue Strayer University for all it is worth, for the following reasons: (1) I applied to another university and was denied admission because I had a missing transcript from Strayer, which needed to be reviewed. The transcript cannot be released when there is a balance on the account. Strayer has literally halted my education. (2) I have wasted my time and money travelling to Charlotte regarding these issues, sending multiple emails and making multiple calls. (3) Strayer could possibly cause serious harm to my future finances if the balance they claim I owe is sent to collections.

They carry accreditation with Middle States Commission, and yet how can this be so when many of the courses are substandard not to mention the abilities of faculty in teaching adults. They treat adults as if they are children, make false allegations against students, revoke diplomas after students spend thousands of dollars to earn that diploma and then refuse to respect a students right to disagree with that which is being presented.

Students cannot get work because of the bad reputation of this school and it's lack of consideration for teaching and assuring students are prepared. Billions of dollars in federal financial aid, that students may not be able to pay due to results from a substandard education. Refusal to protect student privacy. Belligerent Faculty who seem to think they are above the law because they come from other countries or hold tenure. Continued violations of first amendment rights and judging without due process. There are complaints published all over the internet and yet this firm goes unpunished for its actions towards its students and employees.

I have been trying to pay the loan off, and they only gave me 10 months to do so. I still owe $1100. My only option is to apply to another school and pay with my refund money. But there is a hold on my account, so they can't send my transcript out. I cannot go back to school until I pay it off, and I cannot afford to pay $140 a month. They didn't offer a deferment or any kind of assistance with this situation. I do not understand how I was able to register and take classes if I had not paid the full amount, especially after I was told it was all covered.

I called to register for my next classes and I'm told I can't because there is a problem with my financial aid. I talked with financial aid, and they told me I owe $3020 because my financial aid was denied. They sent me an email in January with some kind of form stating that they knew back in September I was ineligible. Basically, Strayer let me take classes knowing full well that I was not eligible to use financial aid. I think that is fraudulent and misleading.

So far, the phone calls to my job were annoying. They finally stopped doing that and now I'm getting a bill and phone calls from a collection agency. I cannot afford to pay it and I'm already stressed enough with financial burdens.

However, despite my efforts via email to get a response from the school on the release of the grants funds, has failed on every level from the financial representative Erika ** to Business Office Manager Sandy **. The quarter has ended and we will enter new quarter Oct. 12, 2009. Please assist in resolving this issue.

The first copy was misplaced, and I was asked by the Dean, Dennis McGeehan, to send another copy, which I did. To do so, I had to contact the Department of Veterans Affairs, and then they forwarded the copy directly to the university. Both times the transcripts were received by the university. Again, the first copy was lost, and the second copy has yet to be evaluated. This process has taken much longer than was explained to me by several Strayer personnel, including Dean McGeehan. This delay in evaluating the transcripts has caused me to not be able to enroll in Fall semester, since I do not wish to take a class that I may not need to take based on the evaluation. A university that I previously attended offered me thirty credits towards my military training.

I have provided all information as requested, but feel I am not getting an honest answer from anyone at Strayer. I have sent numerous emails, as well as phone calls, to several different Strayer personnel but received no solution as of yet.

I have a delay in the pursuit of my degree, which I am hoping to receive as quickly as possible. Hopefully, obtaining this degree will enable me to change career fields and allow me to earn a higher salary, which will better provide for my family.
