Those two names I have mentioned above, are the people that I dealt with. I don't know how people can actually promise to help you and do not keep their promise. You pay money for your education and you do not learn anything let alone getting some help to pass your classes. I should have known that Strayer is one of those schools that finance matters instead of teaching students. I should have done my research before registering though. Thank you Strayer. Lesson learned.

I absolutely recommend Strayer University to anyone aspiring to a degree. I am a current student. I've been with Strayer for 2 years, now and a President's list member. My favorite aspect is the classroom. It's catered to recent events, interactive content, and innovative instruction. The Strayer Stories are so great! They star celebrities such as Queen Latifah and Mannie Fresh, as well as local heroes. Communication is top of the line and honestly, as long as you try your best, complete your work, and don't have a sense of entitlement, you are going to go far with Strayer University.
After I complete my Bachelor's degree in Business Leadership and entrepreneurship, I'm definitely continuing on to obtain my Master's degree. One more thing before I go, the Leadership courses and programs have changed my life! The Joe Gibbs Performance management program and Finding Your Leadership Purpose are incredible. Don't take my word for it, call to set up an appointment with a coach today! You won't regret it.

Suspended me for 1 bad grade and appeal twice. She told it was still processing and email again. She said start class in 10/6/20. But when that day came I found out I'm still suspended and the only thing she said sorry for that!!! "Can we reappeal?" I said. No. I'm done. And tired, exhausted, frustrated so I file complain to students affairs. They said they would look into it.

I completed my bachelors and masters degrees with Strayer. I took all but two classes online while working full time and raising my three kids. Strayer was so convenient and I had no issues with my financial aide, notably at the end of my bachelors I ran out of aide and was offered assistance that I was not aware of by my counselor. I had support from my instructors whenever I needed. I’d recommend Strayer to work adults hands down.

I was enrolled with Strayer but not anymore after submitting the documents and all the information. They reject it after doing all assignments they take a while to upload the gradee they chose who they feel should get the grade. My success coach doesn't respond to me unless I have to call and complain at least 10x a week because of them not approving my documents. Oh and the refund money I never received a dime of it so before you apply to this school you better rethink they may act all sweet and nice but Hunny they can play you.

Strayer University is a great School. The instructors in the graduates program are informative and helpful. Essentially, I applied myself and received great results and experience. The business, management and human resource classes were relevant to my career. I took what I learned from my classes and applied the information to my project management duties. I enjoyed learning at Strayer University.

The truth of the matter is this school has POTENTIAL! While most are fussing about their financial aid & the ones who rave so they’re fussing about the refund, “I” can personally tell you that aside from the “REFUND” side of this, they all are telling the truth. I entered this college without properly researching it & I have my concerns!
1.) There is always some type of “glitch” going on. Even in the actual blackboard where you do the work at. You have to go into different browsers just to be able to complete the work. Their glitches & IT issues are frustrating. People are saying it’s the refund, but it’s more of them not addressing the issues & leaving their students hanging not knowing if they classes will be paid for.
2.) If you’re thinking you’re gonna get genuine feedback from your Professors, you will NOT. They do prepaid videos & just attach them to your work. If you reach out via email to them, you’ll probably rarely actually get them. You’re more than likely to receive a vague response by their teaching assistants.
3.) When you’re enrolling, you’ll hear from them every single day. Once you’re an official student, you won’t receive a response. The Success Coaches are almost nonexistent & your Dean only reaches out to you the beginning of school, midterm week & when the semester is over.
4.) The tuition here is quite high. I didn’t know this until AFTER I was enrolled & a few weeks had passed in the first semester.
5.) Little to no schools will allow Strayer’s credits to be transferred. What does that tell you?
6.) On a good note, you’ll have a forum where you can build some great connections with others. It’s refreshing.
7.) There really are some very enjoyable classes. I didn’t say them all, but there are classes & Professors I would never be mad about having over & over. They keep in contact even after you leave their class.
8.) Students sometimes want to enter because Strayer offers a free laptop. The deal about this, is something that is posted. The laptop is yours only AFTER you finish 3 terms with them. You’ll have to send it back or pay full price should you decide you don’t want to continue after the first or second term. That’s no more than right.
If Strayer would keep a genuine line of communication open, fixed their “glitches” & make their Professors actually TELL you in real time things & not send pre-made videos explaining absolutely nothing, the school would actually be an decent school. Also, if you could actually get a recognizable degree in the cooperate world, that would be even better. It’s one of those “is it worth it to YOU” types of situations. If you’re ok with the few slight cons mentioned, I’d say go for it.

So let me just start by saying I had issues understanding my financial aid and I was kind of annoyed and sent an email where you could tell I was annoyed. Erin ** is the woman who was assigned to help me and let me tell you how Patient and helpful she was even when I sent the email where I was so frustrated. She fixed everything for me ON A SUNDAY and made sure I understood everything about my disbursement and refund and payment plan upcoming for winter 2020 quarter. So so helpful. I am reading all these bad reviews but honestly I had a good experience. I think it really depends on who is assigned to you.

Strayer is a joke, me and my daughter attended the same year 2016. Let me start by saying my daughter was going for social worker, so I question the success coach man name Scott. He said yes Strayer specialize in that degree. Here it is 2020. I realize why he taking so many business class and not nothing to do with social worker. So one of the success coaches stated that they never had classes there for that. I e-mailed the man that use to be the dean at Lithonia campus. He ask for the name. Said he was going contact me back and look into the case. Never did. It's been 6 months now.
Another part to this story Strayer have pulled my 2017 tax information. Claimed something was missing, I been going back and forward from the IRS to my tax people. They said it's Strayer. They don't know what they are doing. Even IRS question it. So my daughter financial aid they claim she can't get until we continue to bring the same documents they have have took a million time up there. Every time I take one thing it's another one. I feel this school shouldn't even be in business, they pull the same thing with me, because they didn't want to pay the grad fund and my daughter suppose to be getting grad fund this semester. So I am fed up with them. I am transferring my daughter and will find a lawyer if I find out they took money from her financial aid, its something they are covering up.

I attended Strayer for 2018 fall semester. I for whatever reason wasn't given tuition disbursement until December. 2018. They never could tell me why it was disbursed two months after disbursement date. Then they start to send letters to my house saying I after only attending one semester, on behalf of the Pell Grant. They have now began to make false accusations saying I owe them money for courses. I wasn't even working at the time and wasn't receiving support from family so I couldn't even qualify for a loan. Plus my two courses I took there wasn't even 2500 for the semester which was why my disbursement amount was only 400 dollars after they charged me 600 for that cheap ** Dell computer which they said would be free in the beginning. I met Pell Grant requirements due to being a minority. Why is this school trying to destroy me for greed.

I attended Strayer University to receive a BA degree in HR Management as I was told by the Admissions and Guidance Counselors they had. I clearly stated I did not want a degree in Business as I was not interested. I completed my course work in 12/2011 and when I received my degree it stated BA in Business Administration. I immediately contacted the school and was told they would investigate and get back to me. Needless to say, if the school indeed did not offer a degree in HR Management, I should have been told when I made the call about receiving the incorrect major on my degree. This showed me that they concocted a story to provide to me advising me the degree in in Business with the minor in HR. How is that when I took very little to no business classes and all HR Classes. The school has deceptive practices.

Halfway through the semester I was nominated for verification. Now know I've done all this work up to halfway through and there's three weeks left of the semester. I'm told my financial aid isn't my official transcripts until the money is paid. Strayer needs to handle all financial aid documents and what's needed before a semester starts not till a student in the middle of the semester and expect them to pay thousands of dollars. They are out for money and if you do use financial aid I feel like they make it very difficult for it to be approved. Now we also know I was a transfer from a different University with the same exact tax here in financial aid. Strayer University is the only college I've ever had a problem with. I regret going with them as my school. If I were you I would think twice before attending.

I can't speak on the undergrad level but at the Graduate Level it is no joke. The teachers are extremely helpful but they'll also fail you in a heartbeat and if you GPA falls below 3.2, consider yourself dropping out. They make this very clear during orientation to let people know to take this seriously. When I first started, I had read reviews online and notice almost everyone is complaining about refunds and lack of resources, etc. I can honestly say, those reviews are not true in my experience. I got my refund no problem, the financial aid office even went ahead and schedule a interview with me to go over my financial aid. They basically tell you what your classes and course material cost and how much you can get from student loans. Even though they are for profit, they highly suggest against taking out the maximum amount you can borrow as they explain the interest rates and how much you could potentially be paying back upon graduation.
I feel a university that didn't care for you, would not do this. There are tons of resources available to you and clubs and organizations that you can participate in if you so choose. I chose Strayer University over Penn State world because my interview with strayer I wasn't seen as a number as Penn State world (their main campus didn't have the MBA concentration I wanted) only saw me as a number and reputation boaster in terms of my grades. Also, tuition at PSW was $48k (if I recall correctly). At strayer, at the time of writing, it is $34k. I have a cousin that goes to University of Bridgeport, a friend goes to LVC and another friend that goes to a university in Texas (I can't recall the name atm), All four of us are in MBA programs and we all take the same class they are name differently but the books are largely the same or a minor difference. The difference changes once we hit our concentration classes. I am a happy student and glad I made this choice.

I am absolutely in shock and appalled at more than half of these reviews. These sound like a bunch of entitled brats. They are completely biased. Half of these people are complaining about financial aid or how they failed classes because either "there was a death in the family" or " my kid was in prison". I attended NVCC community college for 4 years and only was able to accomplish 45 percent of my degree, it was incredibly expensive and they were MONEY HUNGRY.
200 dollars for parking, 5 dollars a day if you wanted to park in the parking garage. If you were a student who did not pay with financial aid they treated you like you were money bags or the money tree. They expected me to pay 400 DOLLARS for an IT textbook. The counselors wouldn't tell you there were ways to quickly get rid of your elective classes without having to pay so much and in much less time. they kept all this information from you, instead Strayer IMMEDIATELY tells you you can complete almost all elective courses via Straighter-line and Sophia, which does not record your grade that affects GPA, instead it just helps you get those credits you need.
This has been an absolute life saver for people who are busy with work. I was able to get a scholarship for knowing an alumni graduate at my government contracting job. I never thought I would be able to qualify for a scholarship in my life. People who say the content is too easy? Are we serious? I took 3 accounting classes online and by God was I struggling. I mean that content was extremely difficult, if you were off by 1 cent you got the question wrong...but the professors give you ample opportunities to pass with excess amounts of bonus points, which I see half the class not even utilizing.
I can finally say that a bachelor's degree and master degree are in my future. NVCC tries to keep you there with them until you rot. These non profit universities have extremely long acceptance process if you are coming from a community college. I would recommend this university to anyone serious about graduating and to anyone with hectic lifestyles. YOU CAN get a degree, IT IS attainable.

So far this degree is useless. Not even Strayer would hire me after I applied with them. To me this degree is so useless not even they take it seriously. After doing some research, I realized no one takes for profit universities seriously. I wish I had done the research before I enrolled, but I was so drawn to their format (online for working adults). My experience past the enrollment part (it was horrible trying to reach anyone!) was great. I enjoyed it. But like I said, not even they would hire me. I have a useless Masters Degree now. Do your research before you choose this school.

If you notice, most of the people complaining about this school is because of failed financial aid or failing of classes. Well, it's not the school's job to find you financial aid. And yes, if you don't withdraw from a class, you will be charged. Whether you take it or not. All of this IS IN THE NEW STUDENT HANDBOOK. And for the individual who said that their class was over 6,000, what class were you taking because mine are 1440 a piece. And the one that used his G.I. BILL, IT SUCKS THAT YOU HAD ISSUES BECAUSE I HAD ZERO. I contacted them one day and 3 days later got my approval from the VA and was enrolled in classes that are all paid for. So if you're bashing this place due to your lack of financial aid or pack of reading/understanding the student handbook, that is your problem, not this university's.

I went to school at Strayer for two years, and in that time, I was diagnosed with cancer. I could not go to school because I was getting treatments, and I withdrew from one class and failed the other. They suspended my financial aid, and I filed an appeal. I gave them every document they asked for and provided a note from my doctor giving me the all clear to go back. They denied my appeal, saying I did not satisfy the requirements for the appeal. Mind you this was over winter quarter when I withdrew and failed the classes. I was able to return the spring quarter and passed my classes and had my financial aid.
The kicker is that they waited until the summer quarter to take my financial aid and tell me all this. Then waited until the deadline passed before I had to call them and ask if my appeal had gone through. I asked what I could do so that I could attend class. The lady was very rude and said that if I did not have another way to pay, then I could not go back to school there and hung up on me. No explanation otherwise or if I could file another appeal or anything. My financial aid was approved through my FAFSA, but the school would not let me use it. Please look at other schools if you want to do online. I thought I had done enough research when I decided to go there. I am currently working on getting approved at another school. Good Luck, and please stay away from Strayer.

My experience with Strayer is a one star experience to date. I am not enrolled, but I view with interest the numerous soliciting emails in my Gmail account. I am dazzled by the fact that Strayer sets up business wherever there is an online internet connection. Throw in a Title IX "umbrella" & I see a fascinating topic for legal scholars.
By nature I am skeptical of the online university trade especially after the many years of "challenges" that I experienced in the "brick & mortar" contingent of higher education. #1 on the list is the assigning of grades in the 100% to 120% range- my impression is that Strayer does that. If I was a Strayer student & got a grade of over 100%, I would definitely appeal it. Their Student Code of Conduct is impressive, but I am flummoxed as to how Strayer could enforce it. With little research I would assume that they become an agent of an Orwellian, online Police State with no warning. I rest my case, God Save the Queen of England, an innocent woman.

I would not recommend this school to anyone who is looking for an actual, challenging college experience. I completed two years at an actual university, and it was MUCH more challenging than the quarter I attended at Strayer. There are NO admission requirements for this school, no ACT/SAT score, no college essay, and it doesn't matter how you did in high school. Anyone is accepted. I don't know of another University (besides University of Phoenix, which is also a joke) that has admission standards that are so lax.
All tests or quizzes are open-book and have no proctors which means no studying whatsoever. There were no finals in any of my classes. The requirement for the "paper" that one professor had us write was a joke. The weekly discussions were awful as well...no one put any thought or research into any of the topics minus a select few students. There are actual "Daily Bonus" questions in a lot of the classes where you can get an enormous amount of extra credit, which would never happen at a reputable school.
I put about 3% effort into the classes I took from Strayer and got an A in both. Had I put the same amount of effort into a reputable institution, I would've failed. So please, if you are on the "President's List" and have a 4.0, don't think it's because you actually earned it, as someone else has already said. The school is a joke and not an actual representation of a normal higher education institution. I started at Strayer because it was online, I am ready to finish my degree (halfway there!) and I have a friend who works there. After this upcoming quarter, I will not be returning and will be transferring back to my old university's online program.
Just a word of advice: employers do not take a degree from Strayer or University of Phoenix seriously. They will laugh in your face. Also, good luck getting your Strayer credits to transfer to any other school because they will not count. Other schools know this institution is a pile of BS and doesn't prepare you for their challenging programs.
The only way I'd say Strayer would be worth it is if you're older and just want to say you got a college education, however you will have to live with the fact that you cheated yourself out of an enormous amount of money for nothing, which brings me to my next point. Strayer is EXPENSIVE. You can go to a real university for half the price. Run, run away while you still can.

I began classes at Strayer on 1/2/2019 and continuing. When I filed my FA paperwork, I was told that I was chosen by the Government for "Verification", which required much more Financial Documentation. Thankfully, I do ask a lot of questions and love talking to people, AND have a friend who enrolled with me that did receive his FA and had taken on-line courses before and was familiar with all the paperwork. This kept me going to complete everything, IN SPITE of the government SHUT DOWN (Thanks TRUMP). So, a few weeks from finish, I will receive my refund, HOPEFULLY.
I must say, I find the staff very helpfully and met our new Dean at the Henrico VA Campus, who went through on-line school to become Asst. Dean and completed his Masters and became Dean for the school. Thanks to him sharing that with me and my new found help at Strayer, I have a MUCH brighter future in site.
As I am disabled and had been very isolated, which tends to happen when you can no longer leave you home easily, not at all without assistance other than brief outings 4 times or so a month for grocery shopping and picking up scripts. Since starting at Strayer, I have developed excellent partnerships with my Professors and the ADA Department (which helps if Disabled) so that you can obtain the necessary resources to achieve your goals in school. I am studying for a Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology (App & Web Development/Design).
The first two semesters were chosen for me and are by Strayer Staff to ensure you understand the requirements. One benefit is that the first two classes I took were Foundations of Success and Intro. to Business. Both Professors allowing a few weeks for new students to settle in. Knowing new students to on-line college will or may miss deadlines and need assistance finding everything, they were more lenient with deadlines. Only the first couple of weeks though.
I have found this to be a very rewarding experience and Highly recommend Strayer University as your choice for continuing your education. As the new Dean told me, take advantage of all the help offered, you owe to yourself to get the most out of YOUR SCHOOLING and College choice. Whichever college you choose, Good Luck in your future endeavors, take advantage of what your school offers, you really do OWE IT TO YOURSELF, it's your money, your future, your success, and YOU must do the work for any Degree, get the most help you can, I do at Strayer University. As an online college student at Strayer, I have had a great experience so far. This will be my 3rd term at Strayer and I am so excited about where my future degree will take me. The enrollment process was very easy. I spoke with a recruiter, she asked the necessary questions, told me what she needed from me, I explained to her what my goals and expectations were and I was enrolled. Financial Aid needed documents from me as well, and I was able to get the department what they needed in a timely manner. If there was a document requested from me that I wasn't familiar with I asked questions and they were able to provide me instructions to get the issue resolved.
I have a 3.7 GPA and I take honor courses, which are more challenging courses. I honestly can say that being a mother of 3 school aged children, working full-time, and being a full-time student can be difficult at times, however I remain dedicated and devoted to make it to the finish line. My professors are very understanding when I experience life challenges and work with me if and when I have to submit assignments late. Communication, dedication, and time management are the key essentials to becoming a successful student at Strayer or any college for that matter. I have achieved so many goals at Strayer and I am so thankful for this school.

From Day One enrolling at Strayer University has been one of the worse college experiences of my life. The PG Campus staff have attitude problem, and they don't know what they are talking about, and a staff member at the LRC lied on me to other staff. One Academic Dean when I had an issue with them not providing me tutoring or they had no tutoring program set up as they advertise, told me "I already have my Degree" as if she was doing me a favor assisting me with my issues. I had a death in my family and provided proof and my English teacher disregarded my proof and took late points off on assignments. They changed my success coach in 2018 and she had an attitude, and got mad that I went to someone else for help 'cause she doesn't know what she is doing.
Then they have this male Academic coach who was there probably months, but I've been there by this time a couple of years, but he tried to explain to me what happened with my schooling as if he knew exactly what happened and he didn't. He is arrogant and is was no help. He even frowns at me now when I walk into the office. Professional? Not! I recommended this school to my sister and she registered not knowing she would have problems, but when her problems came up, the Director of Finance said smart comments to my sister regarding the issues. On top of that in 2017 the same Director of Finance, couldn't help or find me a tutor for Accounting, yet she is the Dean of Finance. Her excuse was, "I am the Director of Finance on the business side..." Why are you even there at the campus versus being at corporate...
If you as the Director of Finance can't assist a student with or refer the student to someone who can assist the student, you don't need to be at the actual campus. You are no help. If you are thinking about going to Strayer University PG Campus, make sure you know what all those unprofessional, non informative, attitudes having, staff members do what they are supposed to do, cause they will run over top of you and treat you like they are doing you a favor. They don't know what they are talking about and the only way to assure your success at the PG-Suitland campus is to stay on top of the staff like white on rice for your benefit and to not allow them to get over on you doing anything, saying anything, and not helping you succeed as they so called advertise.

Strayer is a challenging school. You must be self motivated and put in the time for study. It is difficult. Testing is comprehensive. Writing and defending my 160 page Thesis was the most difficult educational challenge. I would average 4 hours each night and most Saturdays were spent studying and researching Thesis material. It took two years and $30,000 to complete my MBA. I found the online material professional and most instructors very knowledgeable as compared with my BBA instructors at Dallas Baptist University. This school is not easy and every student looking for an easy degree needs to stay away from this program. It takes commitment and from experience you must be able to comprehend and apply concepts.
I spent many days going back to review material because I did not get it the first time. I had to write drafts of my Thesis project and submit to my coaches and much of my first drafts were not approved due to not proving my conclusions or not using the correct format and documentation. The instructors make you prove what you have learned. No consideration is given for your personal problems or excuses. You must do the work. You must do it the correct way. Don’t start a program with Strayer unless you are committed. There is a reason the school has Regional Accreditation and all school credits will transfer to other colleges. They cannot bend the rules and keep that Accreditation and I appreciate the quality of education I received.

The tools to be successful are abundant. My financial aid was easy, as I see many have issues with financial aid. My success coach is awesome. I have truly enjoyed every professor I have had so far. Out of six professors two were PHD in their field. I put a lot of hard work and dedication into my studies, I work full time and have a family. At Strayer University you can do everything you ever dreamed of if you are dedicated. I can’t remember the last time I was so proud of my accomplishments. I look forward to achieving my Bachelor's in Business Management with a concentration in Business Finance, and seeing where my future takes me. I would like to add I am 43 yrs old and have been out of school for 25 years. If I can do it you can too. Best of luck and God Bless!

I have nothing but positive things to say about Strayer University. I have been attending the school since 2016. The success coaches have been super supportive. There is no reason why any student attending this school should fail a course. There are so many resources available to help you. Sure classes are pricier than other schools, but it is a private school that has been around since 1892 and has been providing quality education since. They now offer tuition credits that can be earned each semester. You can earn up to 10 tuition credits to go towards your Bachelor's degree. The financial aid department can use some improvement as far as the processing of information, but once it is established for me I had no more issues. Prospective students should utilize the site information for tuition rates, programs, and accreditations.

I would not attend this school! I have been yanked around, forced to repeat classes while burning through FA due to personality clashes with the Instructor. I've been written up for using profanity and insubordination for telling her to collect her overly inflated ego and using the word "damn" and a dude calling from Falls Church area telling me that I cannot be taken out of her class because it would not be in my favor with it being the 4th week in the term. This is MY journey and MY money - I chose SU originally because I thought they were a reputable school, but after repeated issues from the FA side to the Admissions side, and everything in between this is a school that is only concerned about preying on certain economical status students and will say/do whatever they can to save their own skin.
This exaggerated Level 1 Code of Conduct was the final straw - I've had enough of throwing my money into a school that don't value me. This particular instructor is by far THE ABSOLUTE WORST I have had and I have no desire to engage with her at all! I went from an A to now a D in her class... Which in itself is comical! I would not recommend this school to anyone... I've hung on and have given everything I can to finish up here but they are repeatedly giving me every reason to jump ship. Unethical, Unprofessional, Greedy, Disrespectful, and Deceitful no matter who you engage with or what department you are forced to embrace. I've been in the Admissions field while holding down various levels within the industry and I have never had to manipulate or beat down a student in order to get them to do what they needed to do. You learn a lot but being a for profit school throws my thought of them being supposedly being for us but instead for the money! Summer 2018, I just randomly checked my account details online Strayer University iCampus website and found out my financial aid was reduced a bit to where I owed $250.00.
I told the financial aid/registration that I preferred financial aid to cover all expenses included books and was assured at the Morrisville office that there would be no need for concerned. Anyway, I paid the 250.00 for tuition so I could get my second class locked in and just decided to buy the books out of pocket as well, but then I was actually able to get my max financial once again after the fact-again, strayer's disorganization! And now here I come again for fall 2018, financial aid once again stated the Department of ED "decided at anytime" they needed to verify my financial aid therefore putting me at risk to once again possibly losing on a class-my last class at that. First I was told by my success coach that the servers weren't communicating properly and the issue was fixed. Two days later I was told my MPN wasn't linked to my loans but now it's fixed. When I called again they guaranteed disbursement would be Monday 11/6. You guessed it. Still no disbursement on 11/6 and now I have a out of pocket balance for $3,058!! When I called Financial Aid again I was told I had an admissions hold on my account then when I was transferred I was told the wrong FAFSA was selected and that was what was wrong. But of course it's now fixed!! Needless to say the funds never disbursed and I am beyond frustrated and done with that establishment. The dean should have been fired! A lack of local support. But wish I was still enrolled. I have not been able to finish my degree. Wish that I can!!! Without my masters I cannot do what I want!

I went to Kaplan University and the enrolling process was easy. Things were laid out for me in a very clear manner. I was asked what I was looking for in my future and was advised to start with a two year plan so I don't get burned out then to go back later for the next two years once I have had a chance to take a break. I was told that the concern is more about the students and their success because they are not successful if the students are not happy or successful.
I liked the online platform. It was easy to navigate and very intuitive. The courses were very helpful. I was amazed at how much information could be covered in 10 weeks; the idea was you learn as much as you want to learn. There's the rubric. It's up to you if you want to go above and beyond that. It made me disappointed at how little I learned in k-12. I was also amazed at how quickly 10 weeks could go by.
The professors are professional and personal, support was easy to come by be it for tutoring purposes or for finding material in the virtual library. But I wish the virtual library was easier to navigate. While I know I had an excellent education, well organized classes and great professors I wish the classes weren't so expensive. I would have loved to continue my education. I did choose my school and knew the cost, that is on me and I'm not complaining; I just enjoyed the classes so much I would have happily gone another two years if I could afford it.

University of Phoenix has designed an extremely useful online component that is worth considering when looking into online courses. Follow-up as a previous student is easy for accessing records.

I like that you can take class online at your own pace and the price is lower than a traditional college and I will be happy to see more from this university. You would have to change the stigma that somehow online college is lesser than big college institutions and I will not only be supported by the college I will feel proud.

Online platform is extremely easy if you have knowledge of computers, have taken classes before and know how to buckle down to get your work done without a school atmosphere but would not recommend to students that are young. They get distracted easily or not computer savvy. I like that I can take the classes anywhere, working well with my business travel and are often flexible for when you will have time to sit down and do them from week to week. Having to work in groups for projects can often be tricky as there are all different age groups, levels of experience (ie intelligence) and some think that because they hide behind that computer can treat others poorly without respect.

Strayer University is a top online and campus school. The courses they have there are phenomenal. There is financial aid for those who qualify. The teachers there are always pleasant and easy to work with. Although I would improve the financial aid aspect of this school. I personally did not have a problem but I had a friend who did. She said the financial aid department was very unorganized and lost an important piece of mail that she had turned into them. But that is really the only bad thing I have heard. It's very easy to enroll online and begin classes. It is a fairly simple set up. If you have questions there is always someone available to guide you along the way.

Picking up courses, their availability and the online platform are all great although not being able to have a face to face interaction with the faculty and other students makes the experience slightly different. The online program allows me to stay at my current job while pursuing my education goals and getting a degree. I can take them from anywhere as long as I have access to internet so they are easy to take. I would like to see more science courses even though I understand that teaching science courses online might be challenging.

I have a 612.00 balance due. At the maximum amount it should Only be $200.00. I registered to attend Strayer University back in 2011. I'm 2 classes short of my associate's degree. I called & spoke with Marcus ** on October 8, 2016. I told him to withdraw me from the semester due to them not processing my information (financial aid) timely. I informed him that I would gladly attend the winter quarter, simply because that would give them plenty of time to finish. So that I would not have any problems.
This Representative told me that there would be No issues, just go to class that following Tuesday & my paperwork should be fully processed later that same week. I told him again that to be on the safe side, just go on & withdraw me, because he could be just saying that to me to reach his quota. He affirmed to me that he wasn't trying to reach a quota, but go on to class Tuesday. I made it to class when I got off from work & I also discussed the situation with my professor. Now at the end of the week my paperwork still wasn't processed appropriately. Therefore, I withdrew myself online. Now, the Strayer Thousand Oaks campus, at that time did not have a Campus Director. Therefore, I was told to speak with Amy **, regarding this $612.00 balance, who doesn't reside in the state of Tennessee. I met Amy ** @ the campus, and she told me that she would make the proper adjustment on my account, after she reviews it. So I signed up for my classes & was not able to start due to no adjustments on my account.
She later told me that it was Nothing that she could do, but she would allow my the payment to come from my student loans/financial aid. This was very unlawful. I informed her that student loans/financial aid isn't free money. It's strictly for my education. I asked her about the standards that they have for the student representatives misleading a student, for their personal gain. She informed me that there wasn't a standard. She gave me her supervisor's email address; **, I emailed her on January 4, 2017, & I never received a reply back. This was so unprofessional per the ENTIRE STAFF. But they truly do not care about the students, only about the money the get from us!!!! This was TRULY a disappointment for me! I WILL NOT EVER REFER ANYONE TO THIS SCHOOL! I've submitted student affairs help desk tickets, along with the business office, & all of them are still open since last year to the 4/21/2017... This is ridiculous.

Sorry but I am not going to commit a federal crime to satisfy what Strayer thinks my tax return should say when it was filed 100% legally with CORRECT information. When I discussed this with the financial aid and told them if financial aid did not go through I would be looking for another school I was told they didn't care as they have 50,000 other students. Good for working adults. I began online classes at Strayer in January 2014 and graduated with my Bachelors in December 2016. The experience of returning to college after 27 years was filled with challenges. My participation with their internal social media echoed some of the reviews here: financial aid is a problem for some. I did not encounter any of the problems with financial aid (I prepared all documents on time, and when I had questions or concerns, a call to my local campus returned answers promptly). The instructors were either good or excellent; all online classes require a lot of papers to be written, and as with all college classes, there was a lot of reading assignments. This is college, after all. I would recommend Strayer to family or friends, noting to them there is a lot of work involved in pursuing a degree.

As I was reading all of the reviews below, my husband and I can only shake our heads. Reason being is due to the exact same Financial Aid problems everyone was stating below has occurred with us as well. They will continue to send papers (esp the V4 and V5 forms) stating that something is missing or the signature isn't in the correct spot (not sure how that is considering there is a line and says student signature, but OK!), or the fact that my husband signs his name at times with his middle initial for which Strayer contacts us stating that we didn't provide them his middle name, therefore we need to redo the entire registration. I mean the list goes on and on. Needless to say, finally almost towards the end of week 4 our fin aid was processed! After weeks of the back and forth.
Well it doesn't end there. During the waiting process, I spoke with my adviser requesting to start the class. She told me that if I log into blackboard that we would be charged the entire amount of the classes and would need to pay that out of pocket expense (thousands of dollars, to add). Once our fin aid was approved we began our class (again, almost into week 5). We went online to get our book voucher and it had expired (how, I do not know because we just got approved), so of course we had to wait on that. The delivery was approx 3 wks. Therefore, reaching wk 9 of an 11 wk class. They wouldn't allow us time to submit our work and with finals now approaching we had to take the loss of an F for both classes. FINE!!
However, next term we immediately took the same two classes. We were able to start on time and was able to stay on track with the submission of all of our work assignments. We both ended up with an A in one class and a B in the other class. Of course it doesn't end there... NO WAY!! A week before this coming spring term, we received a notice that we are on academic suspension due to failing the first term classes. The dean got involved (he actually was really great and it's unfortunate that he is at Strayer) and was able to help us with understanding how to complete the appeal form. Of course, the first submission was incorrectly submitted. Although the instructions were not on the form on how Strayer would like this appeal form submitted, the Dean contacted me and told me that it needed to be typed on the actual form itself. FINE!
Well the PDF wouldn't allow any edits, we had to convert the PDF to a WORD doc. Then had to print it out, had sign the paper and scan and attach in a document. We were told that during this process our set of classes we selected for spring term wouldn't be dropped and that an Academic Recovery Plan would be sent to us thru DocuSign and that we needed to sign and send back. Well we did that. The Academic Recovery Plan highlighted our 2 spring classes to take and that we must keep at least a 'C' in both classes. Well... (I'm not even done yet...) apparently they received a message from my campus (Manassas VA campus) to withdraw my husband and I due to non-payment and that we must pay out of pocket for our 2 classes in order to continue (however, we both were approved for financial aid for 2017-2018).
I have been in school for awhile. I started at NOVA for several years obtaining my degree before transferring to Strayer and NEVER have gone thru anything like this. It is UNREAL how they treat you. I feel DOE (Dept of Education) needs to investigate their wrong doing and I would like anyone facing these problems to contact me thru my email. This is NOT FAIR. This has got to stop. We need to all come together and take a stand against Strayer. Their operations. Their academics. Their advisers. Their SFS (fin aid dept). Anyone else involved in Strayer and their wrongdoings. I do not depend on the school to take care of anything for me unless I am having issues with a professor or something.
My experience with Strayer has been awesome. I completed my Associates, almost done with my bachelor's and then I am going for my Master's at Strayer. So I had the finance department on the phone along with my school adviser. The finance department told me what to do while I'm in my adviser's office. Two week later they told me it was wrong. So they told me to go back to the school and fill it out again. I told the finance department, it is hard for me to go to the school. I do not have a vehicle, and I don't have no one at this time to take me to the school. That girl in the finance department told me "Oh well, then I guess you just won't be able to take care of your paperwork. I can't help you, this is your future not mine."
This the type of people who Strayer hire to represent their business. That type of behavior is OK with the company. If so then they need to fired the people who in charge of the finance department. And hired people who knows what they are doing and hired people who cares. Everyone I know have a bad experience with this school. It is not the school, it is the people who work for the school. After my follow up appointment, I thought it would be necessary to stop by Strayer next to Kaiser to inform them of my recover status. I communicated to Dean Sharnee ** that it will take longer than two weeks to recover. I needed financial aid to get the resources to get through my online class. Given information from Mr. ** (financial aid advisor) I had to be in school by the fourth week to obtain financial aid, so I took a chance and reported to class. I did not think about the consequences at the time because taking an online class, you need the internet and I needed financial aid to help with that resource. July 18, 2016, I went to class, and attended the town hall meeting. During the meeting, there were staff handing out pizza to students as they walk inside the meeting. While sitting, I noticed that my classmates had left, so I headed back to class.
Well, as I walked out of the door past the staff handling pizza, the three started to mock and ridicule me about my BUTT PAD. "Get it, get it one recited as the other laughed." Now, I just went through surgery and for some instances it will affect women mentally even myself. When I was put on this earth, I did not have the chance to let God know how I wanted to be design. However, thanks to the creativity of Man that helped us women in areas that build our self-esteem, such as undergarments that can give curves in certain areas on the body. To be bought to shame, and belittling my self-esteem from staff member of Strayer University is humiliating, and it made me feel that I did something wrong. I did not want to stay at school, and I did not want to attend Strayer University any longer, so I went to class, grabbed my belongs, and went home.
The following week I told the Dean about the miscommunication with the doctor's instructions. She did not believe that I went to class the previous week. I ask her to look at the roster. She replied, "I don't have the roster. Go and have your Professor to prove it." She did not consider my condition, so I went. When I returned she had the roster in front of her which could have avoid me to embark the trip upstairs. I filed a grievance for all the things that Dean Sharnee did and to retake the class. The same statement was used for both grievances. I filed to the student's affairs about seven time, and I kept getting email that the situation was resolved. I went to the Director of the Prince George's campus, Candice **, and she stated that Dean Sharnee made a decision not to let me retake the class. What do we need student's affairs for when Prince George's campus can do students any kind of way without answering to anyone.
There is no representation for students. The Dean and the staff is the problem. I told Ms. ** that I want my answer in writing which is the policy process. She responded ok, but I never received anything. No one called about this matter. Ms. ** avoided my calls. I called to finalize my class, Mr. ** wants me to sign another promissory note and add another class when I need only Economics 100. I have one class to finish, and I'm being hindered. Something needs to be done. Perhaps, an organization that can cheer for the students, such as getting financial aid on time; representing students for grievances; when a class should be retaken; and a more better policy, procedure, and system. Student handbook sloppy when printing from the website. Why? In my opinion, so they can hide stuff when they want.

The main issue I have with Strayer University, is their trustworthiness. It seems that leaving out pertinent information is the norm with this business, and when it comes to financial aid, just forget about it! Strayer is definitely in the market for making money, more than what is required for an educational institution. They prey on mature working adults that desire a degree, an education and the opportunity to advance in life. They make it easy for working adults to see the so called benefits of their programs due to the fact that they have mastered online classes, which is a major plus for working adults, that normally do not work nine to five. However, just because you make getting a degree appear easy, it's actually more of an encumbrance when dealing with this institution.
My advice to anyone seeking an undergrad or graduate degree is to first apply at a community college, they've come a long way in terms of offering online courses and they are far less expensive. Once you've completed your liberal arts, then transfer to a four year college or university (a traditional brick and mortar), for your major and undergrad. Again the cost will be much less than attending Strayer, and many of these institutions are also offering online courses to appeal to the working adult. Lastly, if you are a high school senior that didn't do your due diligence during your four years of high school, now is not the time to compensate for your mistakes. You can still redeem yourself if you are now considering obtaining your degree. Read the above paragraph.

Admissions had no issues to start me in classes... however, at the end of the semester they tell me they need my driver's license and high school transcript. I provide it to them within 3 days, and they come back telling me that it's unacceptable as I made changes to it. Absolutely absurd... I forwarded them the email from the school. My transcript is from 1984 from a small school with 84 students in the class, everything was handwritten back then. Now they want to tell me my student loans are not going to go through. They need to start talking before actually registering people.

I went to this school for my Associate degree. I have enough credits for the degree with high honors (3.85 GPA). I never missed a quarter and always put in full effort. Things were fine until the final quarter when I was waiting for my final stipend check. When I never received it, I contacted them about it. I found out that they made a mistake and sent the funds that were meant to cover my current quarter as my stipend check the previous quarter. Due to this, my final quarter wasn't paid for. The financial advisor agreed with me that it wasn't my fault that this happened and I shouldn't be held responsible. No one took the time to contact me about the mistake, which I don't have proof but am pretty sure they knew about right away. To top it off, they didn't even request enough to cover the final quarter.
After several calls and fighting, nothing was resolved. They kept telling me that it was my responsibility to pay the money to fix their mistake. No matter who I spoke to, outside of the original financial advisor, I was constantly told it wasn't their fault and it was my responsibility to pay it back. After going back and forth with this, I finally get them to agree to allow me to enroll for my Bachelor's degree and use the stipend check to pay for their mistake. Well things go fine and I enroll.
When it came time for my stipend check to come in, it never came in. So I contact them again about it and find out that I was taking a class I had already taken, and that is why I wasn't being covered for that quarter. The reason for this is because they changed the name of the course and I didn't realize it was the same course, and the student advisor didn't bother telling me. At no point between then and my contacting them was I informed of the mistake. There was plenty of time for them to contact me about the mistake that would let me change courses. Instead they said nothing.
So yet again, they screwed up and again put it on me. I explained that we had agreed to use the stipend check to cover what was "owed" but because of the issue I wouldn't receive one. So I have the credits for an Associate Degree with high honors, but no degree to actually show for it. This school is a joke that will screw up and blame you for it.

This all started back in the Spring of 2015 when I first inquired about if I could obtain a second master's degree in accounting but in a different concentration. After some researching I was told from the registrar that there should not be a problem with me getting another degree under accounting with a different concentration. I checked with financial aid and found that I would be able to pay for the classes I need with the remaining student loans I was able to take from the Department of Education. I enrolled and completed the 5 courses within a year and a half. Here I am waiting for my Second Master's Degree to come in the mail. I have note the accomplishment on my resume and have sent this around to 100s of potential employers.
Today I get an email from the Dean of the Augusta, GA Campus. She stated to me that it is Strayer's Policy that getting a second master's degree in the same discipline as the first is not allowed. Reason for this is because there are too many classes that would transfer over and basically Strayer would lose money. The Dean stated to me that I could enroll in the MBA program and only had to take 6 more classes to obtain this degree. The kicker to all of this is because I took those 5 classes that I should not have been allowed to take in the first place and completed said courses they are trying to tell me that I now have to pay for this classes. I explained to the Dean that I would not have the extra debt if the registrar would have done her job in the first place and told me the truth and not allowed me to register. This new Dean thinks they did nothing wrong. I will not recommend Strayer University to anyone; even if they were training dogs.

Even when I spoke with someone they never bothered to verify my contact information until I asked what information they had on file for me. Again, every time that I left a voicemail I made sure to leave a contact number and my signature on my emails have my phone number under it. Now it's too late to sign up for the fall semester and now I have to wait until January. Also, when I signed up for financial aid, I was told that there was no further information needed but somehow I'm not getting a refund because something is "needed" but no one has been in contact with me to tell me what is needed. I worked as an Admissions Officer for one of Strayer's local campuses in the early 2000's. At that time, my job was to explain the school, gain transcripts from the students for verification of past education, and to help them understand the process. That may have also included passing the students on to the Financial Aid process.
For some students, employers were helping to pay the bills, as were some government benefits earned by the student. Strayer tried to recognize past educational work history to give credit... where fewer other schools may have done so. That may have included basic subjects like Math and English. If some IT classes were outdated, we would make that determination upfront, prior to admitting the student. We also explained CLEP, and how to achieve credits, once those goals were achieved by the student.
The professors and staff I knew at our local campus, basically cared about those students at that time. I cared about trying to explain our admissions process, to the best of my abilities. Our FA staff was very knowledgeable. Some folks may not have realized the cost, but they should have with our FA staff at my local campus at that time. What I can tell you is this is a business! It is a for-profit school. It was set up primarily for working adults, and many have succeeded to gain BS and Master Degrees. The professors I knew at our local campus worked hard to help several, where many would have failed, otherwise.
Please consider your various options to see if this school is the right fit for you. It can be expensive, and you may want to consider our community colleges first. Strayer will try to transfer as many of your former credits as possible. At least they did back in the early 2000's. Outdated IT classes may not transfer credit since the field changes so quickly. Obtain that determination upfront. As a former Admissions Counselor (I think they may now them Life Coaches), our job was to try to admit as many students as possible, as long as their transcripts passed and so they had a way to pay for the classes. I was paid a salary, no commissions. I left because I felt it was a racket, even though I enjoyed many of the students and our faculty.
Stayer can work well for some, I knew several great Professors, but if you apply... you need to work hard to gain the degree and read the details in everything you have signed. I was amazed at a couple students I enrolled! When they came in my office with some of the issues they had been dealing with in their personal lives... a couple years later... they obtained their degree! It made a difference in their lives, I felt proud to have been part of it... just do your homework!

Funny you have success coaches, but they never call. Only time I got a quick response was when I decided to withdraw. Financial aid counselors who instead of counseling, blow their steam off on innocent students, and student complaints that get routed back to the person you initially filed it on. No one's on the same page at the columbia sc campus and their only interest is to get you excited to start school on a partially legit basis then have you find out later in the quarter you're not eligible for FA. After busting you butt in a class already. And now I have a balance because I was administratively dropped by a teacher who didn't keep adequate roll. Which I think was a set up to have me pay since I wanted to leave. Terrible experience!!
There's no one to complain to because everyone keeps you in a loop. I still have yet to understand why the financial aid counselor I went back and forth with, is the same person telling me my admission couldn't be satisfied, answered a complaint I filed on her, and is the one processing my withdrawal now that I've decided to leave because she works in the business office as well! What kind of internal conspiracy is that!!! Sad that I had to mention I was a disabled veteran in order to get talked to in a respectful manner. Maybe the experiences vary from campus to campus, but this one should be avoided.

I went back in to review my tickets that I created way last summer in order to prove that I asked for my funding to be sent back and showing that I asked them to explain how I could get charged for a class that I never attended and the tickets have all been deleted by Strayer. I contacted the Campus Director Jean and she informed me that I went to class for at least 8 days and that made me go pass the quarter of withdrawn so they are charging my $920 and they are holding my transcripts and is causing me not to be able to attend another school. I have yet to hear back from her and like I told her I don't know who went to class under my name but it was not me.
I never logged into the class because I knew I couldn't afford to pay out of pocket. I thought about enrolling here but throughout the enrollment process something very fishy. I was transferring from a top tier University which was too expensive to continue attending. After getting through the "application" process something seemed very strange to me that they needed me to test into English and Math curriculum despite my already taking and passing these classes at another University. I made mention of this and then was told to fax over a copy of my high school diploma; I did but asked, "Did you review my college transcripts?" The response, "No we do not need them yet. You're accepted. Congratulations."
I found this odd since normally, when applying as a transfer student the intended University generally wants to see how you have been performing elsewhere and if up to standards, then they would need to evaluate your previous coursework so they know how many credits are being transferred, how many you need to graduate and then plan your academic plan around this.
I decided not to enroll and communicated all of this by way of email which I have printed and saved. A few days later, miraculously, my transcripts were received and all of my credits were going to transfer! Yay! Again, I found this quite sketchy. I took a lot of architecture and construction management classes since that was my previous major and when applying to Strayer I was simply going to get a basic business degree. I questioned how architecture translates into business and I was told, "It is coursework, it just counts." Again, feeling quite uneasy, I declined to enroll, thanked the admissions counselor for her assistance and to close out my file.
A few days go by and someone else starts calling me and badgering me about enrolling. I maintained by stance until I was passed over for a promotion. I decided to call this new guy back and said "Let's complete the enrollment process." He sent me directions and I was to complete the process. Now this is where things get interesting!!!
I was never able to log in. I called tech support and they kept resetting my account and kept sending me passwords and none of them ever worked. I believed the universe was trying to tell me something so after a week if attempting to log in, calling their support center and never being able to log in, I decided to stick with my original plan and NOT to enroll. I emailed the guy and told him as much and he instantly followed up with a phone call. He started calling people, conferencing in others and voila I was in my student account where I was to complete the enrollment forms. I then asked to speak with someone in Financial Aid. He transferred me and I talked to this nice woman who worked up a plan and in less than one year I would have my BA in Business.
I was to say the least very excited. I then thought, how is this possible? I am only a Sophomore at my current school, how in less than one year and I going to graduate with a four-year degree? The woman realized her mistake, repopulated her program and it would take me about three years. We then discussed numbers and we realized, I was maxed out with financial aid. Since two years at my previous school cost me about 55K and the final three at Strayer was going to cost the same, I would need to come up with alternative means to fund my education.
I told her that simply was not an option and that I was not going to spend the same amount to attend this "university" as I was attending a top rated university. I then thanked her and hung up. I immediately followed up this with an email to the admissions counselor. I explained everything to him and that I could not fund my education therefore I would not be attending. He responds that I should take out personal loans, apply for grants and ask my company to reimburse me. I explained that I made too much to qualify for any grants, I was NOT going to take out any personal loans to fund my education and my company does not offer tuition reimbursement. He kept reply that it was imperative that I find alternative funding sources and classes were starting and I needed to finish my enrollment if I hoped to attend.
I wrote a final email and copied every person who I had ever talked to on the phone or emailed. I told them all that I was not enrolling and to please never contact me again. Within 30 minutes, I started receiving emails alerting me to sign my enrollment forms to complete the process. Now these little emails have an accept and reject button; accept to open and sign the documents and reject to refuse them. I clicked reject to every single form that was emailed to me. I heard nothing, but kept receiving emails from a professor with work coursework assignments. I emailed her and stated that I never enrolled into her class, I never logged onto her class and I never completed the enrollment process to attend classes. She did not respond but the emails finally stopped.
Then Monday, February 22, 2016, I get an email stating that my account is past due and I need to make payment immediately. I called, spoke to someone and they stated that I attended classes for one week and I owed $309.00. I told her that I never enrolled in class, I never logged onto the class and I have emails backing up all of this. The woman stated that I would need to speak with my local campus. I also asked why I never received a bill in the mail or any other notification that I had a past due balance on my account. She stated that bills are sent to my student account and since I do not have a home address this is the only way they could communicate with me. You may recall, I never logged onto anything and once again, how does a university accept someone who does not have an address? You cannot even get financial aid without some sort of mailing address.
I called and I have left five messages for someone to call me back. Today, Thursday, February 25th, I called the toll free number and spoke to someone in the call center who stated that there were notes in my account that claimed they advised me of fees for dropping classes after attending. I explained the representative I never enrolled, logged on to any class, never signed any enrollment forms and I have all of this in email to back this up. He was shocked and advised me to call the director of the campus to discuss since this was a dispute.
I left a message for the director who was conveniently on a conference call. I briefly explained the nature of my call and asked that someone please call me back today. The response, "I will give him the message but I do not control who he calls back." Seriously??? So, as I write this, I am patiently waiting for my callback. I am going to give until 2:00 PM and then call back again. Lesson learned, if you read nothing but bad reviews about a business; listen!! This "university" is absolutely despicable and if it is truly accredited, it should lose its accreditation.

I would highly recommend Strayer University. The registration process was very easy, and I worked with one of the entrance counselors to make sure I had everything I needed. I'm currently attending the San Antonio, TX campus and everyone who helped me get enrolled and on the right path was great! I have had no issues with financial aid or the Strayer billing department. In fact, it went so smoothly that I sent an email just to make sure everything was in place because of all the negative comments I read about the financial department.
I am maintaining a 4.0 GPA, and I enjoy the classes. Unfortunately, I can see how people can fail the classes even when they think they are doing all the required work. The instructors are very clear on how they want the discussion questions and assignments to be answered. If you need more help understanding the grading system, the assignment Rubrics are CLEARLY posted in the student center of each course. So if the professor posts a discussion/assignment and you don't use proper grammar, punctuation, or structure the assignment in the way they have asked you lose points. Duh!
The point is not to simply "show up", but to attend class, thoroughly read, and follow the instructions. If you post something like "I ain't got no..." vs "I don't have any..." you are going to be graded accordingly. You would think that would be a given, but I can't tell you how many times I see this in the weekly discussions, and then that person gets upset when they don't receive the grade they expected. At any rate, so far I've had a WONDERFUL experience with Strayer, and I recently met someone who earned her degree through Strayer and had nothing but good experiences as well.

I did feel and had confirmed, more than once that most of the instructors were not prepared for the first class of the quarter... Some didn't even know the classes they would teach until they arrived on campus that very evening. I did prefer the 5 papers of 6-8 pages each as the course grade rather than tests. I called the following week, the following Tuesday because it still have not came. I spoke with another service center rep at SU and she actually emailed Academic Records on my behalf and CC me on that email, but no response so I called back 2 days later and another service center rep, after updating him on what I'd already encountered and states that it normally takes 6 to 8 weeks... I was already in my 7th week and was told it takes 4 to 6 weeks and now it's 6 to 8 weeks (wow). Of course, I did not get off the phone as swiftly and just accept that answer so I asked if he can provide a update for me... (Shout out to Jason - the service center rep at SU because he found out more details than the others.) After being on hold for a while he came back stating that there was a "Hiccup" with my account which was on Strayer, stating that I had a balance on my account (which I did not) and that's why my diploma was not sent out.
Confusing because I only have one record that Strayer can access that should be the same for everyone who has access to it. How is it that one person is telling me it was sent and another is showing that it was processed and now academic records and stating there's a hiccup (whatever that mean)? Rep told me that Academics has fix the so-called Hiccup and will email a tracking number. I guess I have to wait another 4 to 6 weeks or is it 6 to 8 weeks... I'm confused. (shout-out to Roswell, GA campus) I don't even want to go into my Transcript issue (smh). I give 1 star for this Diploma issue but 4 stars to Roswell Campus Staff.

After my experience with Strayer I should have gone to a school locally, but because of my work schedule and other circumstances I stayed. Financial aid is totally messed up. I received a refund of 7,665.00, that is right. And I inquired about this refund twice and was told by Strayer financial aid office that I had funding left for two more class which is what I need to graduate. Now I am told that I owe Strayer 3,457 dollars from the Spring semester, which the refund came from. Question, why would you not take out what was owed out of the refund, and wait until the winter semester to say I owe so much money, really? And the sad part is it is blamed on the board of education. HA! That is a good one. Students beware and when you call to talk to someone they are so negative.

I am a student who recently obtained my Associates working towards a Bachelors in Business. This last semester after twice speaking to staff to be ready for upcoming classes, was told I was ready to go/enrolled. I went to start classes and was told I was not enrolled, called staff at Strayer back to see why I wasn't enrolled and was told because I never enrolled. I had to go through the enrollment process all over again for the third time, putting me a week behind in my classes. They are really good about throwing wrenches in your career goals. Is it purposefully? I don't think so, but these kinds of mistakes cannot be tolerated when it can mean the difference between an A or a B in your classes/education.
I think they test/try your patience to the maximum, I have been in tears many times due to them stressing me out and throwing wrenches into my studies. I shopped around, but found many of the schools are having the same problems. Get off your ** and do your jobs. And you wonder why you're not getting that promotion and crying? You deserve it. Well, I am a business owner and it is sickening to see and hear how many of their employees cry "more money" but don't want to work for that money. Really? No, really, this is their perspective in their jobs. Learn your jobs and do them, and that is what will get you that promotion.
Playing is tearing down any business and to expect or wait for a raise that never comes and then cry, "this place sucks," when you actually suck as an employee. I never get a returned phone call from my success coach and have asked for a new one and this one is no better, if not worse, and the I am sorries is already old when they know full well this was an intentional mistake not an honest one due to not following through and doing their jobs. And where is upper management who is supposed to be catching these idiot who passively think when they caused you so much stress and hurt your education, should be patted on the back for it.
They make you look like an idiot, pretending they know what they are doing and yet do nothing but wait for you to call someone else who will do it. That may take four or five phone calls back to get different people in hopes you caught that one who actually feels like doing their job that day. No exaggeration. A friend told me this was a set-up-to-fail system when I let him take a look at my classes and see what he thought about it. I went into my education excited and now am stressed to the max and in tears but am plunging on.
And if anyone is dropping out, it is because they cracked under the stress and lack of support of the staff. The classes are repetitive and contradicting to each other, I have had three course that is the same material, just put a different name on the book. I think they do this to make more money and keep you in school longer. The staff is the biggest issue. We all go into this loving learning and the material is not the issue for the most part, it is the staff who once don't do their jobs and pass you to other people until you get someone who actually is having a day that they feel like working.
Once again, the I am sorries are sickening and don't cut it with me, when you are costing me more money and the danger of having to repeat a class due to your laziness. Forget about raises for this staff, it is not justified. So I hope they are reading this because all of you have come across to me as being so incompetent of doing anything without some holding your hands or screaming down your throats, which is justified. I am a business owner and well, better be glad I am not your boss, because there are many people standing in line for your jobs and you would be fired on the spot since you're burning up my wallet and tearing down a business that you want to pay you for doing nothing all day.
Get your heads out of your... If you can fill in the blank, don't tell me I am being too harsh, because what they're doing isn't working so maybe this will, when you're being told straight up instead of being patted on the back and rewarded for your laziness. The tech department is great, but they need to stop changing things in the middle of classes and wait until the break, because that hurts a student grades as well. Why do you not know this? The passing the buck doesn't cut it with me either. It is your job, not theirs. I am furious at the lackadaisical approach to a student's needing to being well prepared for classes and would think they would get that.

I have attended a couple Community Colleges, Air Force technical school, and UMUC before going to Strayer Univ. and I can tell you that Strayer is the worst place I have gone to. I am currently a few quarters away from finishing up an Undergraduate degree in what is supposed to be a Bachelor's of Science degree in IT Internetworking, when, in fact, the degree is more of a Liberal Arts degree and they know it from the get-go. The academic advisors will lie to you about their IT degrees being a Hands-on training program, when they know they are not. Do Not even bother asking them, as they only want to get paid for doing their job of getting you into the school they work for. Even speaking with a Director of a campus (who is a former Project Manager in IT) admitted that writing is essential in every degree program at this school, where open-book tests are not the main focus of learning.
So, when you hear someone say "We can agree to disagree," give up arguing with them because you will get nowhere with them. Even if they want you to waste your time with their stupid surveys they ask for you to do. If they ask for you to do a survey for the school tell them back in their faces, "We can agree to disagree on doing your waste of time surveys," as they are unwilling to change their degree programs and curriculums. I even went so far by talking to someone at Headquarters Student Affairs office for 3 hours complaining about the curriculum at Strayer Univ. and all I got at the end was to write an E-mail to them about their problems. As a student it is not my job to do their work for them, so I did not bother wasting my time writing an E-mail to them. I am too far, at this point, in completing my degree.
If you are a Technician and want a technical degree DO NOT go to Strayer Univ. There is no Hands-on training whatsoever. In fact, there are only two good things about the curriculums at this school: the underpaid professors who teach on-ground here and they accommodate for those working during the day by having classes only at night 1 day a week for 4 hours and online courses, where you learn mostly nothing. Most of the professors on-ground are good and I have only had a couple bad ones that were new to teaching. Most real Universities DO NOT even have Strayer Univ. listed as a school to transfer from and they DO NOT accept their credits like Strayer wants you to believe. In addition, most recruiters for jobs DO NOT accept this school as a positive on a resume.
When I get done with this Undergraduate degree I plan on moving to Texas and getting 2 MBAs from one of the Texas Universities. I want nothing to do with Strayer Univ. after this degree is completed. The only thing good for me from this experience was that I received only an undergraduate degree and NOT a graduate degree from this joke of a school. For those complaining about the financial loan payback, which Strayer personnel harass you with phone calls after completing a degree, know this, you have a 6-month free loan payback before having to pay. This is for those who have financial difficulties, such as myself.
Another HUGE problem at Strayer Univ. is the political makeup of some of the classes and, for the most part of the school, is Liberal. If you are a Conservative like myself, you are in the minority and are hated by other students and you are looked down upon by some of the professors who are also Liberal. Some of the professors, especially those teaching Political Science and Sociology teach that Marxism is better than Capitalism and that individualism is bad over government control. Well, for you morons teaching this crap in school, I have one question for you: Why is it that every society in the World that were Communist, Socialist, and have Marxist ideologies have failed? If you want to live in North Korea, Russia, Iran, and Communist China go there and live under their leader's rule, leave the western successful societies alone!

I started Strayer University to pursue a Bachelors degree June 10, 2015. I went to the school at the North Campus located in Concord, NC for registration. While at the school, I completed my enrollment and signed the necessary paperwork so Strayer University could obtain a copy of my high school transcript. The gentleman that did my enrollment gave me a handshake and said, "Welcome to Strayer University," and informed me that everything has been completed.
Four weeks into the course, I received an email from Mary Ann ** on July 9th stating they never received the transcript. She asked me to call the high school (Chesterfield High School). I called the school that afternoon and spoke with the guidance counselor and she explained that the transcript was sent in June. The guidance counselor then faxed the transcript again July 9th and sent a copy in the mail. The school informed me again they still didn't receive the transcript.
I called the high school again and the guidance counselor said, "I've sent this already three times." The guidance counselor also said Mary Ann ** called her. When Mary Ann ** called the high school, she requested a transcript in Tonya **'s name instead of Tonya ** which is my maiden name. The guidance counselor explained they don't have anyone by the name Tonya **. The guidance counselor asked if there's another name that Tonya ** go by. Mary Ann ** said, "I apologize. I gave you the wrong name; it's Tonya **." The guidance counselor then asked for the mailing address and mailed the transcript again to attention Mary Ann **.
All this took place in the month of August. The school claimed they still didn't receive the transcript. I called the high school again September 1st and asked the guidance counselor to please, please send the transcript again. The school claimed they still didn't receive the transcript and this is the sixth time. The guidance counselor then did me a favor and called Mary Ann ** which was on September 23rd. She got Mary Ann **'s email address and emailed the transcript, and didn't get off the phone until Mary Ann ** confirmed she received the transcript.
Now this is where the BIG PROBLEM comes in. The school is now saying I can't continue my education with Strayer University until I pay them $3,000 because I was past my deadline to turn in the transcript. I shouldn't be held accountable for a mistake by Strayer University. I also want to add that I spoke with Christine ** the Director of the school. She said to me that I should just get a loan so I can continue attending the school. NO HELP AT ALL AND VERY UNPROFESSIONAL. I spoke with her September 28th and she was supposed to call me back the next day (September 29th) and I haven't heard anything from her.
I also spoke with the dean of the school and he explained that I wasn't the only person this has happened to, and there's nothing he can do. If I'm not the only person this has happened to, this is really a problem and needs to be addressed. I was under the impression that Strayer University help students to grow, build and learn. Dealing with this issue and me having to stop my education has been very disturbing and stressful. I'm hoping that someone helps me out with this issue so I can continue my education and get my degree. Thanks.

We do not recommend anyone to attend Strayer University, at any location. The Financial department complains at the beginning of every quarter that you have ran out of funds and you need to pay them directly. We did not fall for it, so they eventually gave up after a few weeks of harassment. When you ever have a question or concern, don't bother to call, they will never return your calls. If you were lucky enough to get someone on the phone never let them go, because you will never hear from them again.
Strayer at Birmingham AL will also try and succeed in causing you to miss Quarters, by delaying you from registering each Quarter. They use the excuse that you owe them money, when your loans and Pell Grant have taken care of it every Quarter. They want to try and get you to send them money that you do not owe. I only wish we had seen all of the reviews here before we became involved with them. So please for your own protection choose another College. NOT STRAYER IN BIRMINGHAM AL OR ANY OTHER LOCATION!

I did not know that Strayer University is a for-profit business! Had I known this was the case, I would have applied to a not for profit online College, and probably would not have the astronomical loans I have. Strayer makes you take so many electives that cost money. They make you pay for your own books because you run out of all available monies because of these electives. Another thing is when I brought up that they were too expensive and I was going to a not-for-profit online university, my payment went from the $1,000 to $88. Of course books were WAY WAY higher.. if you can, steer clear the for-profit universities LIKE Strayer. They find ways to take as much money off you as they can until you wise up and all of a sudden it's the end of your courses with them for your degree.
Amazing how they come up with all of the sudden grants and monies to pay for classes but books are outrageous. I can't recommend this unless you have money. For us single moms who have daughters, I should have been treated like non-citizen status immigrants or non-white moms who qualify for every government handout available to those who are of the African-American anything. This is so prejudicial to us hardworking, tax paying true American-white-citizens that do not qualify for all the benefits that are supposed to be available for everyone of any color of any race of any religion! All I want to know is why non-white American tax paying citizens who are single moms do not qualify for the same benefits that non-whites hardly taxpaying citizens who are moms who keep keep having kids to stay in the welfare system but also qualify for every benefit that white people can't!!!

Again, they have goals based on the expectation that you MUST recruit a number of students each month/quarter. They demand you meet this goal (# of students) or they threaten your employment.

I attended Strayer University Lithonia campus majoring in Accounting. My accounting professor was very unprofessional. She walked around the class with tissue stuck up her nose, and very impatient with students when we ask for help or had a question about course work. I came to the conclusion that this woman had some drug habit. I failed my class and I went to the dean and told him my concerns. I didn't mention that I felt like she was using drugs, but I ask the dean did they have another professor because I felt like that professor wasn't passionate about teaching. The dean told me that she was the only Accounting professor and that he think I should change my major to Accounting to Business with concentration in accounting. I was very upset when he ask me to change my major because he made me feel like I wasn't capable of majoring in accounting.
I told him that I would go home and sleep on that and I would give him a call the next day. The next day I called Strayer and told them that I was going to change my major because I didn't want to have that professor and not because I wasn't capable of doing accounting. The very next quarter I had a business class and unfortunately I get that same professor that I had in accounting. I went to the office and ask them why do I have her for a professor again after I switch my major because of that same professor. They told me that she never taught business before but just so happen she was given that class for that semester. Right then and there I felt like Strayer had let me down once again. I went back to my class and I had tears in my eyes and a student ask me why was I crying and I told that student that I switch my major because I didn't like that professor and now I have that professor again after I switch my major.
I received and email from Strayer student affairs saying that I had been withdrawn from Strayer due to threats made against the professor. I never one time made any threats toward that professor. I responded back to the email and told them that wasn't true and they told me I could appeal. At that time I didn't quite understand what an appeal was for so I didn't appeal because I thought that I would be admitting guilt by doing so. I called the dean so that I could get a full understanding of what the appeal was for and I never heard back from them. Strayer what about all the students y'all duped out of their financial aid and we're now stuck with debt and no degrees. This school is challenging and if you don't put forth effort and comprehend that the grades aren't given to you, well you're not going to succeed.
I read so many negative reviews, but the issue seems to be that people are signing up for classes and taking out loans that they can't afford. Reality check, you have to pay for school or do your 4 years in the service and utilize your earned benefits. This is a for-profit school, they are there for two reasons (1) education and (2) run a business. I suggest that you call and listen to the representatives from Strayer, clearly explain your issues (if legitimate) and try to resolve them while keeping a cool head. It's stressful, I got it -- I've been there. We are all adults, take care of your business. I will say that all of my instructors have been professionals in their careers. The first issue I had with strayer university (in small letters on purpose) was they charged me for a class I never attended. Although the teacher of that course said she had never met or knew me and I have proof of being in a classified government facility at the time, they still thought I should pay for the class. The next time I was signing up to take a class which would go towards my degree at two schools. The admissions person led me to believe I could take courses at two separate universities at the same time and the VA would pay for it. She did not inform me that both classes had to be transferable back to the parent school. If that were the case and had I known this little bit of information, I would not have taken the second class.
strayer has people working for them who have no knowledge of how things work and the student is normally the one who bears the brunt of the bad information passed out whether it is monetary or psychological pain. There is no recourse for any of this. I am presently stuck having to pay for a class I would have gladly taken at another time if I had the correct information from the beginning. Now they say I am responsible for paying for this class and I cannot get the one class I needed transferred to my other university to obtain my degree before I pay this bill. Even inquiring about my transcripts I was given 3 different stories and it turns out they say I owe for a class I should have never been put in to begin with.
Why did three different people give me three answers as to why my transcript was not sent. strayer u is an amazingly bad university and they don't seem to care how bad they look. This last incident is my fault for giving them another try. My advice, take your 9/11 GI Bill benefits and use them elsewhere. The degree will be worth more from a celebrated or renowned college or university. strayer does not turn heads like UMW or Liberty U. Another student is just a number for them. Retired USMC

When Strayer University contacted me about pursing Master's Degree, I thought this was a wonderful university, but was soon disappointed. I was not able to get one of my transcripts even though I had just graduated with an Associate Degree from the Art Institute of Pittsburgh. I still cannot understand why I was being charged over $800 when I never got the chance to complete any coursework. Strayer has sent a charge of $893 to a collection agency. Now that I see all of the complaints online, this is a pattern with this university. Now my credit is ruined. I intend to file a complaint with the president of this university, Dr. Plater and the Better Business Bureau.

After being told I would be able to make payments on the remaining balance (one course) after my graduation, Strayer sent my account to collections without notice. I arranged to make payments on a monthly basis. I kept those arrangements and received notice from a collection agency demanding payment in full. I contacted the local campus who denied sending the account to collections and suggested I contact the corporate office. The corporate office (after over a month of unreturned email and voicemail messages) informed me they could "legally pull the account from the collection agency."
I never requested any discount or write-off of any amount. I am thoroughly disappointed that I was led to believe my account was in good standing, only to learn the school had no problem with wrecking my credit without any notification as to their intent to send the account to collections. The local office told me on several occasions to ignore any computer generated notifications regarding the account as the local office managed my account and would not send it to collections unless I failed to make monthly payments. Again, I am beyond disappointed in Strayer.

In December 2014 I earned my MBA at Strayer with a 3.9 GPA. I am very satisfied with the quality of the professors and the curriculum at Strayer. However, I have a few issues open that Strayer has not helped me resolve to date: (1) In all of the classes but one I received an "A" grade. In Finance I missed an A by less than 1 point. At that time I was a caregiver for my aging father who has since passed away. I missed one class because my father fell. I was in class when a call came from my neighbor and I had to rush home. The following week my sister had lost her fight with cancer and I had to drive from Florida to North Carolina. As a result, I missed two classes back to back. Although the professor gave me credit for one class that I missed he would not give me credit for the next one. I didn't argue with him about his decision because at that time I was only about half way through my MBA (yes my fault).
Upon completion of my MBA I was frustrated that I missed out on a 4.0 GPA by less than one point in Finance. I appealed in writing to the local Sand Lake Campus Dean who never responded. I suspect he was no longer there because the Sand Lake campus had at least 3 or 4 deans during the years I was attending that campus. I then appealed to the Strayer President who didn't reply because he apparently was no longer employed by Strayer. The new President contacted me by phone and said she would review my request; however, at least 3 months have passed by and she has not responded either. By the way, I sent all of the letters via Certified Mail Return Receipt Requested and I have proof that someone (cannot read their signatures) at Strayer signed for the letters. I would have accepted a "NO" response but no response from Strayer is unacceptable. It seems the administrators at Strayer would rather ignore than respond.
(2) I have a fairly high dollar student loan. I received an email from Strayer that the "i3 Group" had been employed by Strayer to assist students with questions about their student loans. The email from Strayer stated in part: "The i3 group, on behalf of Strayer University, will help you manage your student loan repayment options. The i3 groups student loan counselors can help with questions you have about your student loan repayment or postponement options. On behalf of Strayer University, these services are provided at no cost to all of Strayer Universities current and former students." I called the phone number provided in the email and the person I talked to at i3 didn't have any information on me and therefore could not verify who I am and that I was a Strayer student. Wow... What a joke on me. Similar services that I could purchase are costly. I left one message in the voice mail box at the Sand Lake Campus and no one has responded.
Today I left another message. If that message goes unanswered I will have to drive an hour to the Sand Lake Campus to see someone face-to-face. Apparently Strayer has joined the crowd of using a machine to circumvent paying a real person to answer the phone. The recording only gives the option of entering someone's name to talk to a real person and unfortunately I don't remember anyone's name... mainly because Strayer seems to have a revolving door where employees don't last very long.

I signed up for the MBA program with an entrance coach who was shortly fired thereafter. He did not instruct me on how Strayer handles the online courses but I was excited to get started and figured I could figure it out on my own. WRONG! I reached out to my professor 1 week before class started in order to make sure I could stay ahead of the game and get some reading done. Well, the book was not located or displayed in the book store. In response to my email the professor responded using webpage jargon and when I asked for clarification she responded with impatience and sarcasm. Finally, 2 weeks after the course started I got her on the phone and she told me not to worry as I could get caught up. I was thoroughly disgusted but I DO NOT QUIT. I turned in a 7 page paper, an 8 page paper, a 14 page paper and completed numerous discussions and videos.
I got the following feedback from this professor "Good job", "Another great paper", "Good point". The courses is now over and this same professor has given me a grade of F not only for my final grade but also for my midterm. What happened you ask? I ask the same question and she has nothing to say but a scripted answer. She claims she can't see one of my videos. How does that lead me to an F? I would love to know, she simply told me to have a good night and that she does not want to talk to me.
Meanwhile, there were 2 "success" coaches that obviously did not lead me to success. They did not even return my calls. Lastly, the Dean called to force me to sign up for a summer course after I advised the university that I wanted to resume classes in the Fall. Why does he care whether I take summer courses or not. Needless to say, everyone at Strayer from the Dean to the coach are incompetent and do not care about their students. I am looking for another school to complete my masters.

Yes, I also attend Strayer University and was told the same thing. My money is about to run out. I have worked so hard and about to leave with nothing??!! I have been a student who has held a grade point average above 3.0 since I started in 2012 and no grad points or there's nothing no one can do for me. I also asked about a Associate's degree and I have not heard any responses; other than "I have to check" or "I have not heard anything yet," "Even though you have been here when we had that program they may not acknowledge that."
When I first started school at Strayer, the Criminal Justice Associate's degree was given. Now that it is not, I still should be able to be awarded with my associate's and leave with A BILL and NOTHING to show for it. I have to leave, try to find somewhere to accomplish a associate's degree with the little money I have left. Somebody should be able to help. I understand your frustration **, I am in the same boat. Well let me start off stating that I am almost out of funding to complete my Degree. I've been in touch with the success coaches about this situation as well as student affairs and the Dean of my campus. I was told that all I need to complete my Associates Degree instead of Bachelor's Degree is two classes. In which I have signed up for those two classes that is needed to complete my studies, after being told by Dean they will not honor my request. I feel that is unfair and just to me as student who has been loyal to this school. They will not honor the grad points due to it being in placed in 2013. I do understand that I started in 2012.I am willing not to worry about those points. But still no positive results.
I am the one who is going to have to pay over $56,000 back in loans and leave with nothing. I have taken classes that were working towards my Bachelor's Degree but I am willing to say" Ok I will settle for an Associate’s even though that was not my career choice." I have been seeking legal advise and was told to try to work this out with Strayer, but if no positive results come back for legal representation. I hate to bring that kind of negative attention. But it's like no one is listening to my concerns. Could someone contact me about this matter? And yes I am still signed up for the summer classes. Hopefully you will understand and take into consideration my needs of earning a Degree.

At first Strayer sounded pretty legit, but after I started school they refused to contact the VA even though I had submitted the proper paperwork. They wanted me to submit the Change of School request directly to Strayer but that is not how it works...You submit that document to the VA. I was getting more and more leery of the shady practices Stayer was using to get my GI Bill benefits. So I submitted an email requesting to drop out and they waited until the deadline to confirm so they could, through paperwork, have me on the hook.
I have contacted my state's Attorney General, submitted a complaint, but they told me there was nothing they could do. Now Strayer is harassing me for over $2000 for money they say I owe, that if they would have just had their certifying official contact the VA like every other school I've gone to, I wouldn't have this problem. The fact they did not seem to know what a certifying official was or who that person was let me know they were not a legitimate school and had no business hoodwinking veterans for their education benefits.

I became a student at Strayer back in June of 2014 when I began working for Verizon Wireless. Because I was an employee, I was told that I would be able to take Strayer classes at my job. I, later, wanted to become a full time student and was told that I would be able to do so by switching to the main campus but I would still be able to use my Verizon tuition. I was then told that I can apply for a 2014-2015 Pell Grant to cover my summer class. Now this was INCORRECT. Summer term must be covered under 2015- 2016 terms. So I said, fine, I'll go and apply again.
So this is when I find out I will be getting $0 for 2015-2016 Pell Grant, so I called Strayer back. At this point, I was told, well, since you did not use your 2014-2015, Pell Grant will roll over and to your summer course. Confused me never heard of a such thing! So I called back. At this point, I'm told, NO, you will get your 2014-2015 refund check in your account and then you can choose to apply it to your classes. I'm like, ok. So I was told I would get it Monday, which of course Monday I didn't get it and was told it would be the follow Monday. FINE! Then Monday comes around again and I was told that your funds will be released within this week. Only to go back to online site five mins later and now I OWE $223. So I called, I get one person that said it will take 1-3 days.
So I call again and this young lady says it will only take 24 hrs. I said, ok, can you tell me what's going on!? She placed me on hold FOREVER to come back and tell me my Pell Grant is not mine because Verizon paid for my course! I was LIKE, WHAT? I am a STRAYER STUDENT, it does not matter who paid for my classes first, I was awarded that money and it's been there all into NOW? I was then again placed on hold. She came back, not sure what to say, so I asked for a manager. She then placed someone that's not a manager on a line, so then I said, where is a manager. She says ALL of them are on lunch?! Is this what Strayer does, put all their managers to lunch? So then she asks me to explain, WHY!? For her to again have nothing to say and tell me she understand, that this whole situation is unnecessary. I will be withdrawing from this school and next time I know to READ THESE REVIEWS!

I was very dissatisfied with Strayer University. I enrolled in Strayer University in 2007. Due to a job offer, I no longer wanted to attend their school; I couldn't because my classes were in the morning, and I worked first-shift. I contacted my recruiter, and stated to him that I would not be able to attend. He asked if I was sure, and said Ok. About a month later, I received a letter stating that I owed a 'No Show' fee. I was mad. I called and didn't ever speak back to him. I was given the runaround, and never finalized the issue. I accept the blame for waiting so late to handle this issue, but now that I am ready to return to school, I am unable because this fee is forever on my record. I NEVER went to any of the classes, and still owe.
The supervisor I spoke with says it shows that I attended the online class. I really hate moments like this because I don't recall ever getting on their website. I don't know if there was something done underhand just to consider me attending, but I never attended. I am highly pissed because I didn't know the college ordeal of getting the cancellation in writing. I was told that I would be able to cancel as long as it was before the classes started. Who signed me in online? I have no clue, but only God knows. So much for attending school elsewhere. I just hope no one else goes through anything like that. Make sure you are checking up behind your recruiter because apparently they are doing anything to make quotas with students, that they are willing to scam students. If I would have known this would have happened, I would've stayed far away from this place.
I saw some comments about others just being upset about their grades or success in school, I disagree. This goes to show things will happen even before your first day, and you are held accountable. I do admit that this issue should have been COMPLETELY settled in 2007, but if your recruiter doesn't tell you to come sign cancellation papers, and you are new to college, you WILL get caught up, and it isn't all your fault. Although he was a recruiter, he was there to assist me as well, not charge me when I didn't attend one class. Now that I went back to school, earned a 3.92 GPA, I still cannot take it to a University because of a misunderstanding that happened over 8 years ago. Just ridiculous.

I attended Strayer University in Fort Lauderdale campus for 2 semester. Because I did not have any source of income, I was calling and email asking the reason why I did not received the student refund right after the 5th week of attending to classes. They did not answer my calls, they always transfer me to customer service, then to financial aid. One class night, one their office staff called to sign a affidavit paper saying that in order to process the financial aid, I have to bring translated my high school diploma from my country. But I was told that they will do send the diploma to be translated for me in order to get the paperwork done quickly, that the process will take about 2 weeks, then I will get the refund. Then after calling and sending email to financial aid department, nothing works until I enroll to the second semester. I decided to take the classes online, a lot of things happens to me that I couldn't attended and finish the courses.
During this time I received a call from the director saying to attached the classes in order to get the refund from the 1st semester and the 2nd as well. Then finally I received the refund but not for the 1st semester. Then I visit the office to resolve the issue, they told me that I have to pay $3,090.00 for the first semester because I did not get financial aid approved, which I was told from the beginning that I will get financial aid. They advice me to write a letter to the corporate office requesting to write off the balance because of my financial situation, I was told that I cannot register for the next semester until I paid the balance because my letter request was denied. I register in another school, now they need my official transcript to be send it to them, and they said that I now owed $4,090.00, I just found that out last Wednesday May 27th over the phone.
The last day I went there earlier in morning to speak once again with the director and the girls from financial aid, she finally told me that I signed that affidavit paper and because of that I have to pay, that was my responsibility to bring the high school translated and validated. Then she told, "Do not yield to my employees and wait for the director outside of their office. Please don't sign any document even if they told you other things." They kick me out from the school.

I just started up again at Strayer after becoming a full-time single parent 10 years ago. I was pleased to find out they had a program in line with my interests. So I changed my major and set up a 2 year graduation plan. The first class was great. What has thrown me for a loop is their process for evaluating my certifications. The certs are current and related to my studies. I was told this would cut down the amount of classes I am required to take. It's been over 4 months since I submitted the information. During that time, they lost my request twice. The help desk has been unresponsive on the third attempt (I give the dean props for at least trying to follow up). I have applied to some other schools and they seem to be able to complete it much faster. They even have individuals specialized in evaluating this kind of information (possibly bigger institutions?).
The gist of my complaint is the feeling Strayer gets you psyched up, signed up, and pays very little attention afterwards. Secondly, I feel like I could wait months on the certifications only for them to say, "Sorry, we could not match half/most of these up." These classes are not cheap and I'd really like to finish in 2 years. At this point it's going to be a race between Strayer and the other ones I just applied to. May the best one win. Thanks for listening.

Strayer University swapped two classes without my permission and without my knowledge until a week later. I attempted to correct the issue with my campus dean and director. Neither was able to convince Strayer University that an unrequested and unauthorized swap was bad for a student. This is exacerbated by the fact that Strayer's bookstore is an unorganized mess that every student MUST use. I received outdated corrupt software from the bookstore and I also had multiple classes with several different books for the same course. I am a veteran and Strayer is a university I would recommend to anyone.

I have seen many comments concerning changes to their curriculum, which resulted in having to take additional courses. I have never had an issue with curriculum changes. I have never encountered problems with tuition, refunds, or financial aid. Considering the enormous number of students enrolled compared to other universities, the complaints are minimal. Please take that into consideration when researching Strayer University. This college is for people who can demonstrate self-direction and initiative.

I transferred to Strayer because I had heard some great things about them. I learned the hard way that everyone does not always have the same experience as others. I asked the basic questions to make sure that I would have the same options as I had at the other school. I was really lied to. I depend on my disbursement to help with bills so when April rolls around and school starts I am thinking ok in 4 weeks I will have a payout. DIDN'T HAPPEN. I was like ok maybe it’s late. I then called my success coach to register for summer classes and he then explained to me that I couldn't because I was in ABOA status. I'm thinking WTH is that.
After reaching out to multiple people who give you the run around I finally learned it was because they didn't have my transcript FROM HIGH SCHOOL. In an email I received from admissions the staff states "If you don't have an associate degree from you previous school we cant fully process you, we need a high transcript." Well to me I think that is the dumbest thing that I have heard. Clearly if I am transferring from another school you know I have graduated from high school. Every time I have reached out to get an update on the ABOA status I get no emails or calls returned.
These people really make you feel like you are just a profit for them. I would not recommend a dog to attend this school unless they just want to give money away. I feel like this move was the worst move I could have ever made. They suck you in by saying the right things and once you are in there you are stuck. I definitely will be finding a new school after this semester and I would never attend Strayer again if my life depended on it.

After a while I thought about just focusing on a Associates instead of a Bachelors degree. I contacted Admissions got connected to ** and he figured out I only needed 1 more class to earn a associate degree in Information systems. After countless emails back and forth to be sure that this was true because I had to pay some money out of pocket, I decided to return and take this 1 course. Just to receive a C and now learn that there is one other courses I needed to pass in order to graduate.
So now I've paid a graduation conferral fee which makes no sense to have to pay plus my others expenses only to be told I still can't graduate. Now me and the school ** and a guy supposedly her manager named ** keeps lying about getting this corrected and getting back in touch with me. This is a very crooked institution and what they are doing to students sucks.

If I could get it nothing I would have. I was so excited about going to school online. Now looking back on it they never really explained much. My friend had attended there and so I thought it would be great. I am in my third quarter and for the most part it has been fine. Wished they had more to do. I feel bored. So, anyway, this semester I got to thinking this is really costly. Just for one class alone it’s $1775. That roughly $590 a credit. On top of that, you pay for the price of books. Plus a technology fee for both classes. And there is some charge for $377 for each class that the do not even say what it is for. So this is my third quarter and what really got me was the fact that for the last two semester I have taken two classes. I have never taken more as I can not afford it. This refund they held $477 of my money that I received an email from the government I will receive.
I called and asked them why it was held. She said we are holding it due to attendance. I said "excuse me. I am attending every day." She said "well you are in 3 classes aren't you?" "Umm no... I am in 2." Then there was a long silence for 3 min. Then she says "oh you will receive that money as well. It will just be in two refunds." I was ok with that. Being a stay at home mom who wants to focus on school times get hard. Then I called back today (a week later). This time it was a man. I asked the same question and informed him I wanted to make sure that was still the case. It wasn't. He says now I will not be receiving the money due to not being full time. I haven't been full time this entire TIME due to how expensive they are. But again it’s never been an issue before.
I transferred to a different school today. I will finish out the quarter but after that I am done! I have read so many negative reviews about them and even in my search for schools, surprisingly Strayer doesn't even SHOW UP!!
Aside from my own troubles I really would never recommend this school to anyone. They cost way too much and have nothing to show for where my or your money is going. They only want your money. After reading the reviews I am really hoping they do not try to charge me for something stupid after I transfer this summer. Because I will tell them they can go ahead and take it out of the $477 they have of mine!

Strayer University in Willingboro, NJ are notifying students after they graduated that they will not have their degree conferred because of an egregious mistake they made to notify students of a change in the course curriculum that went into effect after their enrollment. I along with many students that enrolled in 2009, and graduated on December 6, 2014, was never notified of a change in the curriculum that took effect in 2010. For the four and a half years that I attended Strayer, I sat in the Administrator's office every semester to select my upcoming courses and review my credits and never once was I informed that there was a change in my course curriculum. I did not receive a letter, email, phone call, text, or any other form of communication from Strayer with regards to this.
My family proudly attended my graduation which was in Baltimore where we stayed for the entire weekend. I had a graduation party at a banquet hall where family and friends gathered and celebrated in my accomplishment. How can I now go back and say to them that I still do not have my Bachelor's Degree because Strayer is now telling me that they made a mistake that will require me to take another general elective or else I will not receive my degree? How embarrassing and humiliating after all of the hard work that I put in and all of the money that I spent. I decided to return to college in 2009 to finish what I started in 1986, with a husband of 23 years and three children ages 26, 18, and 17 and two jobs and I graduated with two honors only to have my degree held hostage and feel like Strayer has sabotaged my efforts.
I even enrolled in their MBA Program which was to begin on January the 5th until this tragedy unfolded. I wonder how Steve Harvey would feel knowing that he is endorsing a school that takes the money and hard work of students for granted. I was told by a couple of the school administrators that I was not the only one that this has happened to as if that were to be a consolation for me.
On Feb. 20, 2015, I received a text message from a colleague who graduated with me saying that she just received an email from Strayer stating that they are not going to confer her Bachelor's Degree until she takes one more course. She too enrolled in 2009. On April 15, 2015, I spoke in person with another student stated that she too was a victim of Strayer University's unethical practices and that she found out that she would not have her degree conferred until she took one more general elective class that she was not previously notified of until she called to inquiry as to why she had not received her degree in the mail yet. She too was enrolled into Strayer University in 2009 and graduated on December 6, 2014.
On approximately April 2, 2015, I spoke with Dean ** of Strayer University who repeatedly apologized for Strayer's mistake, but contended that the school would only go as far as paying for me to take the class because if they were to pursue trying to obtain my degree without taking the class it would jeopardize their accreditation. My response to him was, "I guess that makes me the sacrificially lamb, just so you can keep your accreditation." There has to be some way to rectify this problem so that I am able to have my degree conferred and Strayer be held accountable for the lives they are devastating as a result of their mistake. It is possible that I am a victim of a scam by Strayer University. Please help. Thank You.

I am a current student with Strayer University (Columbus, GA campus). I have dropped out a couple of times during my history of shooting for my first degree; AA Business Administration. I must say the staff has always treated me super fair. After this current quarter I will have 3 classes remaining until I complete this first degree. I'm excited. Financial Aid support has been superior. Along with the other on-campus staff. I have taken online and on-campus classes with Strayer. The only thing I don't really like about Strayer is their buyback program for their textbooks. All Strayer classes use a Strayer custom edition, the Strayer bookstore does not purchase these books back at all. In order to sell them, you must sell them to other Strayer students.
Overall, I really enjoy this school, many other students I know also really enjoy this school. I've read these other posts about Strayer and I have to say I'm in shock, I've not "yet" had any issues like these other students have experienced. I hope to graduate by Summer 2015, with hopes of gaining a new job outside of my current type of work. On another note, I'm wanting to get settled into a new job, then possibly pursue my next degree from Strayer with a Bachelor's in Business Administration with a concentration in HR Management or Management.

I attended Strayer from Jan 2012 to Dec 2014 and always felt that it was a good school because I was able to attend online and communicate easily with the staff. I had to take my last class on campus so it was a little frustrating working full time then traveling an hour each way but I wanted to be sure to pass and walk in graduated in December, so I did it. Graduation is regionally held so I had to travel from NJ to Baltimore, take time off from work, pay for cap and gown and then I was told that there was also a degree fee. I have graduated from a community college and I have never heard of such a thing, but was told that was the only way to get my degree. I am a single mother so I didn't have the $150 right away and I paid in Feb, after receiving an email reminding me that I was late.
In Feb I also attended an interview in my degree field and I wanted to be able to show proof that I completed my courses so I logged online and saw that it no longer said 100% complete but instead 95%. So I contacted my counselor and she told me that there was an error with the computer system that calculates the transfer credits and I actually needed one more class in order to get my degree. Imagine my anger so I told her that I would not be doing that, was not notified and paid as asked so they could refund me my $150 and just send me an official transcript. I was told that wasn't an option and then spoke with the school director and dean.
I finally agreed a few weeks later because I didn't want all of my hard work and student loans to be in vain. I was told that to keep costs down I could just "test out" of a class and pay $20. That's a little better... I have been waiting on return calls for over a month to be registered and get the ball rolling. No one ever returns my calls and I keep being made promises that don't happen. I would love my degree that I rightfully deserve but I'm willing at this point to just get my money back and continue to file complaints. I find this very unfair and ridiculous and have never heard of this in my life. I saw online that there are some "degree mill" schools that illegally do this. I have reported this to the BBB and the school ignored the complaint. I am not sure what else to do at this point.

I had been going to Strayer University for several years while in the Military. This was the Woodbridge VA Campus. My Wife at the time and I had to go in on numerous occasions and physically sit down with the campus dean and members of their business office to point out accounting errors in their tuition processing. On the third occasion one of the business office associates told my wife at the time that perhaps she should apply for a position at strayer because she kept finding their really easy mistakes.
I lost my job and got divorced and tried to get back into strayer. Already having a FAFSA account and the GI Bill it was not a problem. Usually, they hold my Student Loan money until they deduct the excess tuition not covered by the GI bill. I should have known something was wrong when they sent me the full amount of my student loan monies. So now I have an outstanding balance. Ok, I have no problem with that. My problem is that I can't get anyone to take my payments.
I've contacted the Woodbridge campus, their corporate offices in Maryland, and I've even tried to make payments online. The furthest I've gotten was to talk to one of the financial services associates from the Woodbridge campus and explained how I would like to take care of this debt. I was told about payment options and after choosing one I was told that the associate would need to get my plan signed off of by the campus dean and the regional dean. Afterward, I would need to sign the plan after it was Emailed to me and send it back. I have NO FAITH that in this process that it will not be lost. Strayer is planning on sending my debt to collections and damaging my credit because I cannot get them to take my money! I really really really would like to resolve this but it looks like I'll have to go through a collections agency. At least they will happily take my calls.

I enrolled and decided not to continue due to the high tuition, transfer concerns, lack of recognition by local employers. After going to a local school and registering I find out they want me to pay $2600 because I "entered" the virtual classroom. You can withdraw from a REAL school if you enter the class and leave. I hate this school.

I was excited about going back to college. Start going to Strayer online was the worst decision ever. My financial aid was not process in time cause the student consultant didn't do what they was suppose to do on they end. Then talk to president about have my account waiver. Was told that it would be done. Then about 4 months later I find out it was and when I call was told he move department and was given the run around. So my credit was screwed up cause strayer. Don't attempt to attend strayer if it's your first time deal with a online school.

I paid $20.00 and ordered (from a the campus computer! And with an administrator's assistance at that computer because their online system would not allow me to do so from home) two transcripts to be mailed two months ago and have not received them. And even with the Campus Director's supposed intervention, he could not get them delivered after a 2nd request. Nor have I received a refund which now I am counting as A THEFT because not only have I not received the transcripts, they have not refunding my money.
I have written the President, Michael Plater, who, according to his assistant Alicia, has decided to delegate the complaint down a supposed Dean, and who also still has not responded. The president's assistant apparently is not able to get anyone to respond to her as well. I'd like to know who or what the agency is the go-to on this sort of thing. When I was attending, I had noticed other abnormalities in the administration of grades, financial aid, even the lack of teaching ability among the professors.
THIS IS THE MOST MISMANAGED UNIVERSITY I've ever seen with the administration-- not at all caring about the reputation of the school or its students. Especially since the inability to acquire a transcript, (which is and should be a most basic administrative and automated task these days) makes me look as bad as the university because it gives the impression that I may not have a credentialed background. It is holding up my ability to pursue my education further and that is really a huge problem as it is holding up my admission process to any other schools.
I am planning to file a criminal complaint for theft as well as report to the Better Business Bureau or some other agency, and then look to whatever government agency can look deeper into the operations of this "supposed" university. I hope the university is paying attention to this complaint as well as to others because I'm fed up but I'm not forgoing the $20.00 they have taken from me.

I attended Strayer University for seven years. I received a Bachelor's and Master's degree - have never been able to find a better-paying job during the seven years and up to now, I am laid off. After six years, I decided to go back and get a MBA - Human Resources. At the end of January, I lost my job and I thought I was caught up on my assignments - I missed two and a paper. Spoke to my Success coach - that's how I was informed - and she suggested that I make up the work and let the professor know. The professor never responded, nor even bothered to grade. Every week, he took points off of my grade. Professor refused to inform me - gave me an "F" for midterm. I told him if he was concerned about his students, he would have informed me. After that, I sent emails asking him to speak with me, contacting him by phone; then he started leaving cryptic message to me on Blackboard.
I spoke to the Dean of Manassas on Monday, 02/23/2015, he told me to send him all of the emails. Yes, I had a few "unchoice" words, and I was sorry for them but I had had it with nobody not caring and doing anything. On Tuesday, 02/24/2015, while I was talking to my best friend, I received a UPS notification saying that Strayer was sending me something. I did not know what it was, and I wasn't going to accept a package when I didn't know what it was. I sent my Strayer POCs an email asking them about the package.
Then I received an email and a letter attached from some lady in DC named Jacqueline **, Dean of Students, Strayer stating that I was "suspended"; they were concerned about their safety and security. I do not having a "history" of harming people and what makes them think they can diagnose people? I was too through. I could not return to the property and I couldn't come back to attend class until 2016. To me, they should have talked to me first. I don't know who they received their assumptions, but I do know the legal system very well. This is slander and false information. But God reveals and I am thankful for that. I cannot believe that I'm being the "fall guy" because I was frustrated and tired of dealing with a situation, when I knew this guy was planning to fail me and Strayer staff didn't want to do their jobs.
I called both the Dean of Manassas and the Dean of Students' offices after 6 pm. I was told they both went home for the day. Around 7:15 pm, I receive a call from the both of them, but yet they supposedly "went home". I let them go to voice mail, then they sent an email - it's too late for that. They could have spoken to me first, instead of scheming and plotting. Now, I have to proving and turning a wrong into a right because of their slandering. I can't believe that I'm being treated like that after giving them seven years prior to that. Now I know all the students can do for Strayer is to give them money and don't ask questions, or have any concerns. OMG please pray for them...they need it.

Hi, I started Strayer University October 2013. Everything was great, until the next thing I know coming into winter of 2014, I was told in a non sympathetic way, "Your tuition is short. You have to pay. Oh not sure how much yet, I'll find out for you." I then comes it scholarships without such specific links to go to and how to find up. Some students are not familiar with scholarships. When I get there, I get checked up on by front office staff as if I am not doing my work, then checking when I leave what my internet search was for two hours, no more than three. I was told in February 2015 that didn't owe any money, then an email a week later, "You been dropped." And once again, the director is so professional. She can't see past her own indiscretions or irrational ways. Now I'm dropped and have to fix this myself. A great mission statement they have.

I am a third year student at Strayer and I have had a positive experience, thus far. My professors are all experienced in the field that they were teaching, i.e. my Marketing professor worked for a marketing company, my accounting professor is a professional accountant, etc. The main draw was the non-traditional course schedule that fits with my lifestyle.
My only gripe, and the reason that I did not give a five star rating, is that they do not have a good handle on dealing with VA (GI Bill) students. My tuition and books *should* be covered 100% based on my military service, yet I have been told on two separate occasions that I owed them money. This may be specific to my campus in Savannah, GA because the same person has been in charge of the financial department since I've been there.

My first impression with Strayer was great. I started classes online and on campus at the Bloomington, MN site in 2012. I liked the small campus feel and, though I primarily took my classes online, I frequently visited to campus for events and to study. I became the vice president of the Business club and was excited for the opportunities offered to develop my leadership skills. I chose Strayer primarily because of the accessibility to their facilities as well as the assurance the staff gave me that they would be with me every step of the way. Like you are, hopefully, doing now I did my due diligence and checked online reviews before deciding on Strayer. I noticed that any of the complaints against them seemed to be resolved through a Strayer agent who responded to negative reviews so it seemed they cared about helping dissatisfied students.
The staff was outstanding. The schedule for classes was reasonable but in my second year there things started to happen and it became clear this business school was only in it for the money. In early November 2013 all students received an email that the Bloomington campus (which had been open less than 2 years) was closing after Thanksgiving. After they closed I was assigned a remote 'student success coach'...and then another...and then another. I am now on my 5th coach who still can't remember my name or situation without accessing my file.
When I went to register for classes in Spring of 2014 I was informed that my federal aid had run out and had a small balance but they had a program that I qualified for where students who had exhausted their aid and were finished with a certain percentage of their degree that Strayer would cover 90% of tuition for the remainder of the degree. I told the registrar du jour that I couldn't pay the balance at that time or cover the 10% tuition + books for the summer of 2014 so I would take off the summer and save up some money for the balance and the classes and register in the fall. I was assured this was fine and I was to call back in August to register.
Over the summer my husband fell ill. We have no insurance and he ran up several thousands of dollars of bills which we are still paying off. When I called back in August I was informed that this program was being cancelled and only current students in the program could take part. Then the registrar tried to put it back on me with the statement “If only you had taken classes over the summer you could have qualified.” Now, in order to attend I would have to pay with a private loan (which I don't qualify for at this point) or out of pocket (which I cannot afford). I spoke to a Clark **, a supervisor of some sort, a few times. He asked me to send the medical bills to see if I could qualify for my small balance to be written off due to hardship. He also agreed that the person who did not inform me about the requirement of taking classes over the summer had done wrong and said he would 'advocate' for me to see if he could get me into this program.
That was in late October. I emailed all the medical bills in early November. In mid-November and he responded that he would follow up after the holidays. It is now 1/29/15 - well after the holidays - and my 2 emails to Clark and my current (as far as I know it) 'student success coach' that I have sent since January 2 have gone unanswered. I will amend my review with updates as I can but if you are considering Strayer for your degree, please do some in depth research and find a school that is serious about helping their students succeed and not just their bottom line.

I attended Strayer from October 2011 - September 2014. I graduated in October 2014. I attended Strayer too after losing my job back in March of 2011 in hopes of furthering my career. I have an Associate in Medical Lab Technology, an Associate in Liberal Arts and now a BA in Health Service Administration. My last semester at Strayer, I received a scholarship for $5,000 that only covered tuition. I got student loans and did self-pay. On the last day to order cap and gown for graduation I called the school to make sure I did not owe any money for anything and was told all debts was completed. So I order my cap and gown, charged $385 for reserving a suite for my family and I for graduation.
Here it is now January 2015. I have not received my diploma nor do I have a job, and student loan repayments are due. I called the school to inquire about the diploma and if they offer assistance with job placement. They tell me that in order to get the diploma I must pay them $150. I was welcome to visit their campus site for help in resume writing or visit a website that offers government jobs call Pathways. What a joke! After paying all that money for tuition why do I have to pay for my diploma? I was truly hurt.
As I look back at my time at Strayer I felt like I was rob. Not of the education but of the services they proclaim that they would provide. I had great professors who utilized their knowledge and skills in the real world to help teach their class. As far as administration, you had to stay on top of things. Overall, I give my experience there a B-. However, I really would like to get my diploma and not have to pay them any more money to receive something that should have been included as part of tuition!!! I would also like a job!

When I first started at Strayer University, it was ok. But as time went on this school has become complete garbage. The professors are not competent and really do not care about the students. All these professors care about is a paycheck. Most of them have federal jobs and businesses and don't give a ** about the students. This school sucks. It's no wonder the enrollment has dropped significantly. And at my campus, they replaced the dean. This new dean has no idea of what the hell she is doing. She has this arrogant attitude towards everything. She is the main reason why the enrollment has dropped at this location. It was said that this campus is the largest, but not any more. She has made this become the smallest campus. There are hardly any students here now. Strayer needs to fire her. As she has laid off many staff at this location.

I have had several issues with the courtesy and accuracy of this school's financial aid department but this last incident takes the cake. I originally had several issues during my first time being enrolled in this school and the school I went to prior which lead my second time being enrolled in the school to be reviewed for an UEH. I provided all the necessary and it was reviewed and processed successfully. That process was a long and tedious one and most of them I dealt with were extremely rude and terrible in simply explaining the things I needed to understand which also is a major part of my final issue. It however was completed and approved. (ALL) That I was advised is that I need to have my grades at a 2.0 GPA for the new semester to continue without any issues and I would be back in good standing. This is exactly what I did, I passed a B in one Class and a C in another putting me at 2.5 GPA for the classes I needed to retake. I followed total policy and procedure so I thought or was told rather. I called on 1/2/15 to make sure everything was in order for me to start classes on 1/5/15, the gentlemen I spoke to said everything was fine and I was ready to go.
Now mind you the reason I called was because of the several issues I had before with the Financial Aid Dept. So naturally I was happy and ready to go! On the first date of class 1/5/14 I received an email stating that I was currently under academic suspension and saying that my financial aid was denied. At this point I'm livid! All of my contact information was in the system so why I was not contacted prior to this issue is unbelievable. The reason that they said I was denied and suspended was because I didn't met a requirement that I never heard of or was even explained to what it meant. The way it was partially explain to me because it was explained poorly but I had to meet a certain percentage of classes to match my GPA but undergraduates can only take 2 classes at a time so that makes absolutely no sense whatever it is impossible because I am not allowed to take more classes. Now I'm financially stuck because they have finalized my classes but not my financial aid so if I withdraw I am stuck with a penalty even if I don't attend the class.
I feel like somewhere what they did was wrong and possibly even illegal and I would like to speak with an attorney to see if there is anything I can do about this issue. Sorry if my grammar is off or I misspelled anything but I am truly and genuinely upset. This is my future at stake and definitely something I don't take lightly.

I am a United States Army Veteran. I recently enrolled in Strayer University and initially I was impressed. I started my College search at the beginning of the summer and I viewed several non-profit, for-profit public colleges and universities as well as community colleges. I was happy with my intake officer, my success coach and the campus director. Financial Services at the Washington D.C. campus was very helpful.
For approximately two weeks I tried to gather information regarding the process of my paperwork. I was told by the Veterans Administration that they have received nothing. I persistently tried to find out why the Veterans Administration had not received my information. I called daily from December 8th 2014 to December 22nd 2014. On December 22nd 2014 I was told by Kat ** that in order for the paperwork to move forward I must fill out and submit form 22-1995. My only question was why am I being told this at the 23rd hour? Did anyone plan on passing this information to me? On December 23rd 2014 I was contacted by Kat ** via E-mail regarding my enrolment, the E-mail is as follows.
"I tried to reach out to you via phone, but was unable to leave a voicemail. The program that you are currently enrolled in, BS in Information Technology, is not an approved program per the VA for the DC Campus. In order for me to proceed with the certification, you will need to switch programs to the BS in Information Systems, as that is an approved program, or switch your home campus to remain in the BSIT program. Please let me know how you’d like to proceed. I have copied your Student Success Coach, Brandon ** , as well as the Campus Director of the Washington campus, Edmund Breitling, on this communication."
I decided to go to the Washington D.C. campus in order to speak to someone in Student Financial Services so that I may be able to clear all the hick ups and miscommunication. I had to resubmit my 22-1995 with a new address and I also submitted a change of campus through iCampus. On December 26th I was contacted by the Washington DC campus director and I was asked why do I want to change campuses. I explained to him what is stated in the E-mail and he told me that is not true. I have had no problems with anyone I have met in person at the Washington D.C. campus, everyone has been helpful thus far. It seems there is a lot of miscommunication with between various departments at Strayer University. There are over 260 complaints about Strayer University on Consumer Affairs the link to the site is as follows https://www.consumeraffairs.com/education/strayer.html. Most of these complaints are about financial services and a few others Veteran and Active Duty Students have has similar experiences as I.
I do not have the time or the energy to running going in circles due to laziness or miscommunication of others. I would like to focus on my education and not be stressed out or bothered unnecessarily. We are now eight days away from the first day of school and I am hoping all is well as far as the communication between the Veterans Administration and Strayer University.

On my account, I see the amount PAID to Strayer, on the account I see the refund and after subtracting the full amount and what was paid to the university, I am short between $73-$75 every quarter. That's a lot of money if they are taking money from each student. I am in the process of contacting the school about where that money is. I want everyone to check their loan amounts each quarter. Do your due diligence and subtract the amount you received back versus the amount of the loan and if you have a shortage, contact your home office or even an attorney.
